PCOS med & supplements your take?

2024.05.14 05:33 mermaiddayjob PCOS med & supplements your take?

Curious to know what medications and supplements others are taking and what you’ve found the most helpful.
I currently take daily: Birth control (generic yaz) Metformin 1000mg Daily multivitamin Vitamin D (always deficient even with multi vitamin)
Not daily (because I’m bad at routines) but a few times a week I take ovasitol and L-glutamine. The latter is not totally for pcos but helps with ibs bloating and anecdotally seems to help with cravings.
I’m prescribed but not currently taking 50mg spironolactone. I have some excess face hair and experience really oily hair and body acne. Debating starting it again for those reasons but I struggle with muscle cramps and dry skin from it and am not sure I really need it.
I also have NAC supplements that I used to take before I was prescribed metformin last year. I plan to start adding NAC in again because I feel so inflamed and puffy and NAC seemed to really help with that in addition to helping some obsessive behavior and thoughts. I’m only nervous as I have seen a study that suggested NAC and metformin are effective on their own but have reduced effectiveness when combined. On the other hand I see so many people on pcos taking them together with positive results.
All together I often get supplement fatigue by trying to take all of these thing and monitor effects! That being said I am really struggling with my weight and pcos symptoms lately and am feeling desperate for some progress so feel like maybe it is all worth it. Does anyone else get overwhelmed with all the meds and supplements? What do you take and what works for you?

2024.05.14 05:16 Plastic_Pie_2576 my story with anxiety

just wanted to share my experience and get some advice or suggestions, open to any especially if someone has also experienced the same thing. Anxiety and stress is genetic throughout my family but just up til about recently I have experienced my first severe panic attack. About a week ago I was having fun feeling relaxed and decided to take a hit of a weed pen that my friend had gotten from a vape store. I usually never smoke weed nor like it because it has always given me an experience of panic and paranoia that i did not enjoy. I then decided to take a few hits and nothing happened and i did not feel it or any effects off of it so i took one more hit of it and after about 20-30 mins i had gotten up out of bed and this big sorta rush feeling came right over me and i instantly freaked out and could feel my heart beating out of my chest. i had to lay down with my face in a blanket just to feel somewhat okay. eventually it had whore off... next day i wake up completely fine then after a few hours i feel that terrible feeling again come up over me and it sorta felt like i was high again so i started freaking out and my heart began to race. I took some benadryl seemed to subside the horrible feelings. next day I woke up with symptoms of depersonalization/ derealization. this is what i would say i usually experience while "high" but this was actually the worst I have ever felt. I had to run outside and sit down, i started bawling and my heart felt like it was beating uncontrollably. I looked around and it felt like I was all alone stuck in a dream like I wasn't even real. Since then it has been a couple of days with my symptoms decreasing slowly. every now and then i feel scared and have the fear of the feeling coming back and my heart racing. I do wake up sometimes in the middle of the night with my heart racing with difficulty of breathing. I have mostly been taking benadryl and vitamin D to help. I am trying to stay away from medications. but What seems to be really worrying me is my lack of concentration and control. I always feel drowsy and can't seem to concentrate and have a hard time with remembering things. I think the cause of the anxiety and fear was the cannabis pen. i am just looking for ways to relax my mind, and i am always stuck on the thought if im forever going to feel like this. before this incident i have never experienced things like this before, im not sure if i am only having anxiety because of my experience with the weed or it had actually opened me up to anxiety if that makes sense. only worry now seems to be getting my concentration back and feeling like i am a real person again and enjoying things like how i used to, has anyone else who has smoked or has anxiety experienced this? im wondering if the depersonalization is just from the weed or the anxiety itself and if it will be long term or subside. slowly tho the days have been getting better with little to none mini panic attacks

2024.05.14 04:58 cameroniscool-dude I had a severe TBI to my frontal lobe last year and lost 100% sense of smell and taste because of it. Even though I can no longer smell things, will using essential oils for calming still work on me?

After my TBI, I can no longer smell things. But, I often spray my pillow with a lavender essential oil spray for its calming and relaxing effect. Will this still work on me with no ability to smell things?

2024.05.14 04:16 Cool_Contribution532 I’m a nursing student. My school had a Certified Professional Midwife (NOT a nurse) come speak to our class. It was weird.

I‘m in an ADN program and we just finished our pediatrics lecture. One day my professor couldn‘t come to class and told us we would have a substitute who would teach her lecture. Instead, they bring a CPM (this professor is brand new and had no say who would be her substitute) even though we finished had our OB lecture and they discussed nothing that we were supposed to learn that week and instead basically went on a rant about how hospital births are not good and that they’ve had bad experiences with nurses from hospitals and that they had considered being a nurse but felt they could “do more” as a certified professional midwife. They also complained about CPMs being overseen by the medical board because ”they’re different from midwives”, even though they do things that are definitely under the purview of physicians, like delivering babies. They also promoted water births and birthing centers and acted confused when I asked if they accepted clients over age 35 because that is advanced maternal age and is technically high risk. They did not love that question. I was pretty proud of my classmates because we were all super skeptical of what this person had to say. They did bring up great points and gave good information about racial disparity in prenatal care but the way they delivered it felt like they were lecturing us, not a school lecture but like your parents were scolding you for something you didn’t even know anything about let alone were part of. It was the weirdest thing I’ve experienced in nursing school so far and felt so confused afterward. The speaker ran over time and one of my classmates stood up and told them our other instructor said we could leave at a certain time and just walked out, which was pretty hilarious. I felt bad for my pediatrics professor because she had two 60 page PowerPoints she‘d made for that week and they didn’t even give her a substitute that was going to teach them so she had to change our whole exam to exclude that content. Super unfair to her and us.

2024.05.14 04:08 trianglespacerock ADVICE ON HOW TO TAKE THESE SUPPLEMENTS.

Hello there guys. So a few days ago I went to the get a blood work done and it went well. I still asked my doctor if it would be okay if I take VITAMIN D3, B12, MAGNESIUM , ZINC AND CALCIUM since I honestly don't eat something daily that will give that kind of minerals. He said "Its okay you can. it wouldn't hurt"
Moments later I realized I didn't ask him how to properly take them... and I tried to call the doctors office and he is on medical leave now. So based on your experience I would like to ask you what's the best way to take the following vitamins. VITAMIN D3, B12 , MAGNESIUM , ZINC AND CALCIUM.
Also. any advices or what could be the best MAGNESIUM with more absorption since I know there's different kinds of it.
Thank you very much.

2024.05.14 03:42 DesignerMysterious65 How am I supposed to get better if I'm having an allergic reaction to the majority of supplements I try? 😭

My body has become so reactive and sensitive. I know there are certain supplements and medications that people are taking to help improve their symptoms. My body is reacting so poorly to almost everything I try. Right now vitamin D is the only thing I'm tolerating. My diet is good, but I'm still having a lot of gut issues, cfs, pem, neuro and pots symptoms. I had my tryptase tested because they thought it might be MCAS, but it was perfectly normal and so they told me I don't have that.
I went to a naturopath for help because regular doctors have no clue how to help me. He gave me some supplements and I left feeling hopeful. This evening, I tried 2 out of the 5 he gave me, and instantly I had facial numbness, shortness of breath, diarrhea and chills. I'm at my wits end.
Is anyone else reacting this way to supplements/medications or foods? How am I supposed to help ease my symptoms or get better if this just keeps happening? I'm getting so scared to trial anything else. 😫

2024.05.14 03:29 BluestockingLife It is 9:25 pm, I'm getting ready to go to bed, and I just accidentally took Nuvigil and Sunosi - any advice?

I guess I was on autopilot and grabbed the pill bottles instead of my bottle of vitamins. Surprisingly, in all the years I've had narcolepsy, I've actually never accidentally taken my medication at night.

2024.05.14 03:07 lumpytorta Does this warrant a new care team or doctor?

I (f28) just want to vent here because of my past and current experiences with doctors. I am sick and I’m tired of having to do all of my own advocating when doctors are literally paid for their work and some don’t even do the bare minimum for you.
I spent 3 years trying to get a proper diagnosis, sick, in pain and then when I felt I was at deaths door and decided I NEEDED to go to the Emergency Room because I was so sick I could barely get out of bed, they found the problem and yet dismissed me and misdiagnosed me even though I had evidence to contradict their diagnosis and discharge me.
If it wasn’t for me constantly looking up research articles online and studies for my symptoms and looking into potential diagnosis I could say I would have probably died. I’m so angry and upset with the U.S. healthcare system and I feel sorry for those that don’t know how to advocate for themselves or do their own research. I trust science and medicine that’s backed by research but I’ve been led astray far too many times to really believe everything a doctor tells me.
Yes they have a degree and went to school but do half of them stay up to date on their education? Do they even care anymore? One doctor straight up told me to “just take vitamin D” as a 26yo weighing 145lbs when I told him that my BP and HR shot up out of nowhere and I kept getting seriously ill. It took forever just to get a referral to see a specialist.
My current Oncologist didn’t even check to see if any of my current medications interacted with the one she was prescribing me for nausea. She just prescribed it, didn’t say anything and “hoped for the best”.
I’ve been taking it almost on a daily basis and when I looked up the interactions thinking “I doubt it has any since it’s just for nausea”, I found that it has a MAJOR INTERACTION with my antidepressant. Apparently it can cause arrhythmias.
What’s even scarier is that I’ve been taking both and slowly titrating off the anti depressant myself but I had a weird episode last night where I was falling asleep and then for like 5-10 seconds my heart started POUNDING.
Had I not looked this up sooner or had already been titrating off of this medication, it could have been way more serious. Wtf?? This feels like the bare minimum that should’ve been done. I’m contemplating switching doctors at this point but I don’t know.
I feel like I’m always being discriminated against because I’m young so I can probably “handle more” in their head but that’s literally no excuse when you’re literal patients are trusting you to take care of them and keep them from accidentally dying.
I’m so fed up with this, it just seems so negligent.

2024.05.14 03:00 thebeanshadow Current list of Australian TRT Clinics + Where to get bloodwork + Things to consider before starting + Types of TRT

This was created as a place to feel welcome, and to discuss and talk about all things TRT in Australia.
We have an influx of clinics opening up here, with an influx of new people to TRT, and it's only growing
(did you know GP prescribed testosterone has risen over 500% in the last 10yrs worldwide...)
Below is a breakdown of TRT, clinics and bloodwork.
TYPES OF TRT
There are a few methods of TRT in Australia and the world.
Injectable testosterone -- this is the standard type of TRT method with the most amount of research and usage to date. Typically injected Intra-Muscularly, but with more data showing that SubQ injections are just as effective and could potentially have lower side effects due to the slower release
Testosterone Cream & Gel -- Topical ointments can be great due to not having to inject weekly, daily etc, just apply and carry on, but, with topicals, especially Gel - the risk of transfer to other people is very high, you also don't know how much is actually getting absorbed into your skin, and generally you aren't allowed to swim for 6hrs post application
Enclomiphene & Clomid -- This tablet form of TRT has some popularity as it doesn't shut down your natural production and helps to raise it instead, it is also one step even easier than topicals but the overall effectiveness and long term use aren't fully understood and anecdotally seem to be less effective over time and may stop working.
HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) - another injectable form of TRT but instead of replacing the bodies natural production with an exogenous source, HCG will instead stimulate LH production, almost "forcing" the body to produce naturally -- HCG is often used alongside injectable testosterone to maintain testicular function and natural production
** Some people have success with all forms of TRT, but anecdotally, injectable TRT is still the king of testosterone.
CLINICS
If you are looking for a reputable clinic, below are some clinics that are recommended by Aussies;
PHC - Performance Health Clinic * No yearly or ongoing fees, a pay as you go service, with a more hands off approach + bloodwork every 3mths + cost of medication
EMC - Enhanced Mens Clinic *$1000 yearly fee + bloodwork every 3mths + cost of medication
Primal Zone *$350 initial consult, $100 bloodwork review + cost of medication
The Functional Doctors - over 40s clinic * Bloodwork every 3mths ($300 panel must be done) + $300 consults every 3mths + cost of medication
XY Theraputics - Over 40s clinic * Byo bloodwork or $210 in-house panel. Start up; $299=consult and blood tests $150=consult plus BYO bloodwork - ongoing costs $92 consult and review
TRT Australia * Yearly $860, Quarterly $240, Semi-Annualy $480 - Includes medication, bloodwork review (BYO blood), check-ins
PRIVATE BLOODWORK If you have a good GP that will do bloodwork, that can be a lifesaver, but if not, these companies are trusted and can usually have results within 24hrs.
iMedical * Recommended tests to get before starting your journey are Sports BB2 $172, BB3 $186, BB4 $248
RoidSafe * A smaller set of testing compared to iMedical, but for $50, you can get a snapshot of your bloodwork. This is perfect for patients who know how to read bloodwork and just want to monitor.
Things recommended to check before starting TRT or the journey to TRT;
Semen analysis - It's important to check your sperm health and count before starting as testosterone, sex hormones and your sperm all work closely together - and if you want to have children in the future; you absolutely need a baseline
Sleep study - A very large portion of men have sleep apnea that is directly linked to low testosterone levels, it's important to rule this out as it could be a large contributing factor to how you feel and what your levels show
Full blood panel - You're not just checking testosterone levels, you're checking everything, Vitamin D, Thyroid, Testosterone, Prostate. You need a full panel to be able to tell a full story. And even then, your lifestyle can tell an even bigger part of the story to what's on the paper in front of you.
It's important to remember that TRT can be life changing for a lot of men, but changing your life even the smallest bit can help just as much, as low T symptoms can be caused by a plethora of other illnesses or issues and you need to rule out everything you can;
TRT is generally a "for life" dependant medication; meaning if you have low T and you want normal testosterone levels, you will need to be on TRT for life. You can come off at any time, but you will go back to the original baseline levels you had before starting, and in some cases, go back lower than baseline.

2024.05.14 02:55 Dependent-Cherry-129 Creon prescribed for malabsorption, normal elastase

I’m currently seeing an NP at a gastroenterologist. I have loose stool, undigested food in my stool (my system seems very fast), and I’m losing weight. I have 2 bowel movements per day. The first is somewhat normal but the second is always steatorrhea. I have POTS and MCAS, which began after the Moderna vaccine. I have not had gluten for 1.5 years- no difference in stool. B12, Vitamin D, and iron studies were normal.
The NP ran many tests (parasites, celiac, SIBO breath test to name a few). Everything was negative except the 72 hour fat malabsorption test- I had almost double the normal amount of fat present. She sent me a message saying she sent a prescription for Creon to the pharmacy to try. My pancreatic elastase was greater than 500 (>500, Mayo Clinic labs). I sent a message asking why, since it is prescribed for EPI. She said, “if you have malabsorption, a trial with Creon is warranted.” She didn’t explain further. I am not seeking medical advice- I’m under the care of this office. I am simply wondering if anyone could explain this better for me? Thank you in advance

2024.05.14 02:45 Gold_Act2 Anyone have a feeding tube without a proper diagnosis? Down to 135 lbs at 5'11" (~30 lbs drop) without exercise, severe stomach pain they can't figure out, hard to eat and drink since 2022..

And yet they're sending me to an eating disorder clinic and possibly diagnosing me with ARFID.
The stomach issue started after a whole year of daily pain meds, which are known to cause gastritis... but because I'm intolerant to PPIs, I haven't been able to get it under control. Any time I introduce greens or something new to my diet, besides potatoes or chicken, I get burning and pain.
I'm now vitamin B12 and D deficient, and I feel very malnourished because I haven't had anything green to eat since 2022. Every time I try, regardless of what it is, how it's prepared, etc, I just get stomach pain for days. I've tried everything under the sun in terms of supplements, etc.
Medication known to irritate the stomach lining makes the pain so much worse, so I can't take the meds I need for my other chronic condition.
They really want to avoid ANY feeding tubes, but I feel like a trial of the NJ could help get nutrients in. Maybe the malnutrition is contributing to the lack of healing? They just don't want to give it to me without a gastroparesis diagnosis, and the weight loss isn't shocking enough. Any ideas on how to go about this? I've gone through 3 dieticians who just talk about the elimination diet and my family doctor doesn't have any patients on a feeding tube.

2024.05.14 02:42 Lookatmywrist Getting down to the last 4 days of 20 day WF... my experience, problems, and plans

Day 15 today, as many have said I think days 3-5 were the toughest. Still, beyond that my energy has fluctuates seemingly without a clear connection to snake juice amount, water, vitamin, exercise nothing. Some days I am just absolutely dragging ass can't even keep myself from slouching.
Yesterday I realized I've developed a pain in my right thigh, today it has begun in the left as well. It feels deep in the muscle kind of burning or sore, it's definitely a little concerning but my pee is clear and no other symptoms so I've continued. I've been exercising nearly every day with a cardio 3x and weightlifting 3x a week on alternating days. Both have absolutely suffered and some days I cannot do half of what I normally would so I just prioritize whatever I think is most important, do what I can and tell myself I'm proud of myself for just going and doing whatever I do.
From day 3-12 I really lost the hunger for the most part, interesting to me my stomach didn't even ever growl. I'd get phantom food smells and cravings every once in a while but they pass quickly. Oddly enough, ~day 13 the stomach growling came back a little bit and has occurred a few times since then maybe once a day. In the last few days I've been starting to feel hungry again it is also pretty ignoreable and not constant but what's interesting to me is that it feels more real - like my body is really telling me we need to eat something now. I find myself craving things I don't even eat, a sunny side up egg for instance. The majority of my cravings now especially when I get those hunger signals seems to be for protein. I am a carb lover tbh but though I definitely think about carbs and sweets sometimes it is the proteins I find myself really craving in body and mind.
Looking ahead I've bought bone broth, deli meat, and am planning to get kimchi, miso, and kombucha closer to the day. I plan to take it extremely slow with a 5 day refeed of listening to my body and very low carbs up to the 4th/5th day. I'm actually feeling a little bit anxious about the refeed although I definitely feel like I'm ready to start eating again and feel like I have more control and have refreshed any sugacarb addiction that was likely under my surface.
Final note on the electrolytes/vitamins: I take a prenatal multi about every 3 days just a standard multi pill. I found the recipe for snake juice here to be way too much for me, I actually felt worse after having a full serving for 2 days despite also working out. I looked up the RDA on this website https://www.nal.usda.gov/human-nutrition-and-food-safety/dri-calculator Which actually uses your weight/age etc to give you an RDA, I found this to be much closer to what I need and what makes me feel good. I still found the sodium to be a little high so cut it just a little bit but stuck to the potassium and magnesium levels recommended for me there.
Any tips for the next few days, refeed, or comments and thoughts are welcome!

2024.05.14 02:07 EchoMoon777 WBC normal during active infection?

Hello everyone, I was hoping someone could have an explanation for something. I apologize ahead of time for sloppy formatting, I’m on mobile.
In December of 2022 I had an onset of random infections, a breast abscess (retroareola) in my left breast and an ear infection that spread to the mastoid bone of my right ear. —the infection of my eabone is still festering even after a partial mastoidectomy in July 2023, but that isn’t part of this question.—
Anyway, each time I had bloodwork done during these infections my WBC was completely normal. Even before being given antibiotics. The infection of my mastoid was so bad at one point I was hospitalized for four days. How can this be possible? Aren’t WBC supposed to be elevated during active infection?
I saw an immunologist who did a million blood tests and said they all came back normal, they could not figure out why I was in an “immunocompromised state” and are not even sure if that was the case for the infections.
About me:
31F, 5’2”, 208lbs
Medications:
-Motegrity 2mg -Zofran 8mg -Pantoprazole 40mg -Pristiq 100mg -Pregabalin 100mg -Probiotic -Vitamin D3 -Monthly B12 injections -Daily methylfolate/b12 tincture -Tylenol 1000-2000mg
Other dx conditions:
-Gastroparesis -Reflux esophagitis -Intestinal metaplasia -Chronic gastritis -Inflammatory bowel disease -Interstitial cystitis -Iron deficiency -B12 deficiency -PTSD -GAD
Other general symptoms I have that aren’t related: moderate to severe fatigue, trouble sleeping, trouble losing weight, and night sweats.
I also want to note that the breast abscess started after a lump in my armpit that has bothered me for years started getting more noticeable and aching randomly. I have asked every doctor I’ve seen about looking into it and all of them say it is just an “inflamed lymph node” and won’t do anything else about it. My mom even came with me to the doctor to explain how she had to have lymph nodes removed after a severe infection and that maybe that’s my issue and they refuse to listen. I now have lumps in my neck that I am getting an ultrasound on in two days.

2024.05.14 02:03 ASleepyB0i I get random bouts of extreme exhaustion throughout the day even though I get 8-9 hours of sleep.

I wish I wasn't so tired. It comes in bursts of sleepiness that pretty much makes every inch of my body feel heavy, and I just feel a need to lay down and sleep it away. It's a lot easier than forcing my eyelids open and feel my brain become fuzzy with exhaustion.
My family doesn't like it when I do this. Both of my parents think I should force myself to stay awake during the day, and they say I sleep too much despite saying I should go to bed earlier (I have gone to bed at earlier hours. I went to bed at 7, woke up at 8 in the morning and still managed to be tired throughout the day). I have tried so many ways to bring my energy levels up, and nothing works. Exercise just makes me even more tired, caffeine doesn't affect me, and I take medication that SUPPOSEDLY eases my depression and anxiety along with biotin and vitamin c+d supplements.
I think my depression has a hand in why I need naps to get through my day. Despite going to therapy and taking antidepressants daily, I still have these problems that my parents consistently beat over my head like I'm unaware of how much I sleep.
What other options do I have?? All of their suggestions have failed, and they still make me feel like it's my fault I'm this way. Everyone pushes my concerns aside. Nobody is taking my exhaustion seriously. They assume that it's just something I can brush off my shoulder when it's something that causes lasting physical discomfort when I don't rest. Thoughts?

2024.05.14 01:49 paralyzewithlullaby my cat has high WBC

hello everyone. My cat had diarrhea two weeks ago and was not eating, so we went to the vet and she received antibiotic treatment. After 3 days of antibiotics, her diarrhea disappeared and her appetite improved and she was fine. About 4 days of well being, she stopped eating again, so we went to the vet again. her temperature that day was 41 degrees. Also, our veterinarian did a triple test on her stool, not being sure: FCoV + FPV + Giardia Rapid tests, I think. The vet wanted to do a blood test, I will leave the tests below. He said her WBC was high. He also said that she most likely had an infection after taking a blood sample and performing FIV and FeLV tests. The tests all came back negative. We have been giving her a capsule to increase her immunity for a few days now, feeding her vitamins and going for antibiotic injections. The vet wanted us to come for a week. Still, I don't feel comfortable at all and I wanted to ask here too. What do you think is the situation? I hope our cat gets better soon 🙏🏻

2024.05.14 01:02 tairanasaurus Concerning bloodwork results

I'm a 34 year old female (never pregnant, not trying) in the US who recently had some bloodwork done after suffering from a recent increase migraines. Height is 5'4" and weight is around 140 lbs. My current meds include 0.5mg of clonazepam daily, 30mg total of fluoxetine daily, and a weekly dose of vitamin D3. I don't have any other medical conditions. My work is mostly sedentary and I've been on a plant-based, vegan diet for about 4 months now. I was working out regularly for a while but have been out of it for a few weeks now.
The concerning results include: TSH: high at 4.53, BUN/creatinine ratio: low at 7, ALT (SGPT): high at 33, Total cholesterol: high at 227, LDL: high at 158
Everything else (Free T3/T4, CBC, Metabolic and Lipid levels) were normal. Despite my change in diet, both cholesterol levels listed above have increased around 30 points since I last had bloodwork done in January 2024. Would could be contributing to these abnormalities?
Edited to add: I have already been referred by my PCP to have an ultrasound done on my thyroid and an MRI of my brain for the migraines. I am also having more bloodwork done in a few days to look at thyroid antibody levels.

2024.05.14 00:51 advicethrowaway719 Mysterious Severe Bruising on Cat

Two weekends ago my husband and I went out of town and when we returned, noticed that our ~11 year old DSH/Russian blue cat was slightly limping on his front left leg. We asked our trusted cat sitter, who comes 2x a day when we are gone, and she said she hadn't noticed any limping but said he did seem more stand off-ish than usual. We figured he might have just landed on it funny and decided to keep a close eye on it. The limping would stop for a day or so, but then return, and we also noticed that he was laying on the hard wood floor a lot, which is unusual for him, so we took him in to our vet.
The vet suspected a sprain or arthritis and said they would do some x-rays to be sure. After sedating him, she did a more thorough exam (he is always very spicy at the vet) and we were both SHOCKED to discover extensive and pretty severe bruising all over his left side. The vet said she had only seen this level of bruising previously with cats who had been in a severe trauma. She spotted some through his fur and then shaved him to get a better look. We were absolutely stumped as our cat is 100% indoor, and while he does have a younger and more spry sister that he occasionally plays and wrestles with, she is completely deferential to him and their play sessions never end in so much as a hiss.
We decided that he must have somehow gotten caught in something, or fallen down our stairs, but honestly were still stumped as to how this happened. The vet put him on some pain meds and said to keep a close eye on it.
The bruising hasn't really gone down and now we're noticing more swelling and purple spots under the skin on his back left paw. Even if something traumatic did happen to him the weekend we were gone, he has definitely not had anything new happen since. Our vet is completely stumped and we are about to take him in to urgent care, but eager for any and all thoughts on what this could possibly be. I have photos but some how not allowed to upload them here.
His only other medical issues are IBD (diagnosed ~2 years ago, treated with Rx food, a low dose of prednisilone and vitamin B injections) and cardio myapothy (diagnosed ~2 months ago, given a cardiac supplement and daily enalapril to treat). He got a full ultrasound 2 months ago for his cardio appointment and full blood work then and again during his most recent X rays and the vet didn't see anything that could be causing this. He is slightly anemic and white/red cell counts are slightly off, but nothing that she would consider out of the ordinary for his other issues.
UPDATE: After more blood work tonight he is very anemic (red blood cells at 18%) and abnormal clotting. Will likely get a blood transfusion overnight to stabilize him enough to run more tests.
Age: 11
Sex/Neuter status: neutered
Breed: DSH/Russian Blue
Body weight: 10.8
History: Above
Clinical signs: Above
Duration: First noticed April 28 - limping has improved but brusing has not
Your general location: east coast USA

2024.05.14 00:32 dysonbcollie Prenatal Vitamin Help

I need some help with prenatals. My husband and I are TTC, I’ve been taking the One-A-Day with Choline for a few weeks now and I’ve noticed I have been retaining so much water, been super snacky, and just overall seem puffy. I’m thinking I need a different one, but have no idea where to start.
Having one with choline in it is super important to me because my husband had a brain tumor, and while we were told his type of tumor is no hereditary, I want to be sure I’m intaking all of the good brain things just in case.
Thoughts? Recommendations?
