Recent homeowner here! Dealing with my first tree removal situation, I have a cherry tree that is basically dead and starting to split at the base, it's quite big and directly in between me and my neighbor, there is no direct access from the road where equipment could make it thTree. as the access inbetween the fence and my house is maybe 5 feet wide.
I got two quotes: 2.0k from a company that didn't seem to even care about how he was going to access the tree. 3.5k from a company that wants to bring a crane to access from the road
Both companies quoted an additional 1k for clearing about 4-5 branches from another 2/3 trees around my house. I am also able to get a small break if I can coordinate with my other neighbor who also needs a cherry tree to come down, it's smaller but both companies offered about 400-500$ off for each of us if we picked the same day.
I will try to get some more quotes but I doubt I will be able to get the tree down and the branches cut for less than 3k, and that sadly is a cost we didn't budget for.
Now the real question! Could this tree's wood be worth money being a cherry tree? It's dieing but there seems to be only a bit of damage at the base. Its basically two big straight trunks and almost no branches, but i dont know if cutting it one way or another will affect value. Although some argue that handwriting instruction is beneficial in helping students develop certain skills, to a greater extent, handwriting instruction is not needed in today’s schools because the aforementioned skills aren’t directly proportional to handwriting and the world is evolving into a society that lacks the need for such writing skills.
Handwriting instruction has no place in this globally changing society that is geared more and more towards technology. Technology has no doubt pervaded into our school systems on a global level. Kids in elementary schools are receiving chromebooks, ipads, and even laptops. This is even the case for my own situation, in which I was given a chromebook for assignments in fifth grade. However, schools have continued to implement handwriting practice into daily routines, and for what reason? The opinions are starting to sway against teaching handwriting skills, however. Teachers themselves are stating that they believe we need to do away with the practice and “move on”(Source A). It is not only an individual basis level, however, as even forty one states have implemented courses that omit cursive from their curriculum as a whole(Source A). The fact that not only individuals are rebelling against this “archaic [...] communication” but also a majority of states on a national level are doing so highlights how change is what the nation wants. Specifically, technology is making the teachings of handwriting obsolete. The keyboard allows students to be “quicker on the keyboard” and can help them be “better writers as handwriting takes up less of their education”(Source C). Others agree with this sentiment that doing away with handwriting can give more time for education in other subjects too. For example, some articles are saying that handwriting is taking away time that could be better prioritized for “essential life-skills” like finance and programming(Source E). The sentiment of teachers, editors, states, and more, is that handwriting has no place in a society that is evolving.
The supposed skills that come with teaching handwriting at our schools are lacking in direct benefits. For example, some argue that handwriting activates cognitive and fine motor skills because it requires knowing what to write and how to use motion to write as such(Source D). However, this assertion could be applied to any scenario. Say painting: it requires a vision of what to make and the skills to create the work. However, why is painting not a required curriculum in many schools? This basic line of reasoning has been pointed out by others too, with one pointing out how “playing the original Super Mario Bros helps develop fine motor skills”(Source E). Knowing where to jump or which pipe to take is the equivalent to using your cognitive skills while inputting such decisions into your controller is using motor skills. However, schools are not requiring 15 minutes a day to gaming. This comparison between handwriting and Super Mario Bros underscores how the perceived benefits of handwriting are, in reality, not inherently needed. Another point of view to highlight is that while handwriting instruction may have benefits, they are highly constrained to when one is in school. In Source F, for example, it is shown that the use of paper over technology is heavily prevalent but in K-5. In Source D, it is said that elementary-age students were found to write more during their time. However, these assertions do not take into account the realities of our society. Children are not in the growing technology-focused workforce. Children will not have the time to take such liberties when having to take quick notes in high school or college. Children will be losing out on time that could be used to develop other more important skills.
Overall, the practice of handwriting instruction is not needed in today’s schools because the overall consensus agrees with such and the supposed benefits of handwriting do not outweigh the loss.

And the best part is, this isn't the first time this has happened. In the over 8 years I've been a Coinbase customer I've had transactions randomly delayed and/or put on hold more times than I can count - despite being told over and over that I am a high-value client. And what has now happened to me yesterday has happened before - except before, the probaly 4-5 hours I spent on the phone with customer service ended in a solution. This time, the literally 10+ hours I spent online yesterday in live chat resulted in nothing but "sorry, nothing we can do."

• Literally 10+ hours online with Coinbase doing everything they said
• Force me to go through Plaid, which keeps saying "insufficient sharing permission" on the final step
• 14 emails from Chase saying the account is completely shared with Coinbase (one generated each time)
• 5 attempts to completely delete and create a new payment method. Same result.
• Every single step Coinbase prescribes followed in real time - endless times for 10+ hours
• Furnish over 20 screenshots of every detail of my bank account, many of which make me uncomfortable
• Furnish pictures of myself holding my ID, signs they tell me to write, (too) detailed scans of my statement
• The same steps, the same process, over and over and over
• For an account - the ONLY account I have ever used with Coinbase in my 8 years with the platform
• Sharing is on / I haven't changed my login credentials / no 2FA
• NO LOGICAL REASON WHY Plaid is doing this. NO LOGICAL REASON WHY it ever happened
• Zero resolution, and I am instead told "Sorry, nothing we can do. Try another bank account."

Well I don't have another bank account. Like most normal people in the world, I have one. And it is the same one that's been linked to Coinbase for at least EIGHT YEARS.
I ask if I can relink/verify manually, using the old two-deposit method. I am told no, I have to go through Plaid. Plaid will not, under any set of circumstances, stop telling me "insufficient sharing permission" even though 100% of everything about the account is in accordance with what they require.
I am told that "higher levels" could do it manually. Then after at least 2 hours of waiting for that to happen, am told they cannot do so because Plaid won't let them. So HOW is that doing so "manually?"
Not doable through Plaid, not allowed to do so manually, and not in possession of a random number of multiple bank accounts because I am a normal person, now the result of this is that I have NO bank account linked or linkable to my Coinbase account.
Not only am I unable to deposit funds to trade, I am also completely unable to link an account in order to withdraw MY OWN LEGALLY ACQUIRED AND OWNED ASSETS AND CASH. Forever, apparently. Because no solution is offered by Coinbase other than going through Plaid. Which cannot, and will not, give me any result other than "insufficient sharing permission" no matter how much objective proof has been furnished that every single thing they require has (and always has) been done/selected.
And the best part is, this isn't the first time. Besides the fact I continually have random holds and delays placed on my account - despite being told over and over I'm a "high value client" - this exact scenario happened some 5+ years ago. I can't remember how, but after hours and hours on the phone they were able to fix it. Now, 10+ hours later, they can't even do that. Won't let me do it manually. And offer no other solution other than "Oh well, nothing we can do."
Yes, easy to say Coinbase sucks, switch to someone else. But what would/can I even do about my balances and assets that are now apparently stuck on Coinbase forever? And for what? I have done and proved literally EVERY SINGLE THING they wanted. Only to be forced over and over through Plaid, which then Coinbase says "well there's nothing they can do about, it's a third party."
Thus an endless loop that only results in my complete inability to access the entirety of my assets. With no workable solution given whatsoever other than continually telling me to do every single thing I have proven I have done.
How can a company that handles this level of assets and value not have ANY other solution to such a situation (that I did not even cause), not only now disallow a customer from depositing or adding funds to their account, but more importantly disallow said customer from accessing their own legally-owned assets in any way?
10+ hours with "customer service" wasted How many years of not only being a customer but actively trading, wasted Literally all my assets trapped on the platform with no solution to relink the account THE SAME ACCOUNT THAT HAS NEVER CHANGED IN EIGHT+ YEARS
How many people need to go through this before Coinbase either stops using Plaid of can at least present an alternative to linking an account? How can Coinbase literally have NO means to manually link a bank account when a customer provides mountains of evidence, photos, screenshots, and has to reveal levels of personal information that makes them extremely uncomfortable but has no choice in pursuit of accessing their OWN account?
So now I'm just stuck. Cut off from actively using the account because I can't add funds. Cut off from the entirety of my assets on the site. Cut off from everything. All for no reason other than the site decided to randomly delink my bank account and I am now held hostage because Plaid keeps saying I have "insufficient sharing permissions" despite literally 14 emails from my bank and screenshots showing otherwise.
You need to do something, Coinbase. To somehow say "oh well" and think this is acceptable is beyond comprehension.
I do not have a "case number," as all 10+ hours yesterday were spent with live online agents. But all those chat logs exist. Along with the countless documents I provided you.

Hello, I'm new here, just curious of something. I'm 26 years old and physically fit and active in sports and always going to the gym with good proper diet. But I don't understand why I have high ALT, RBC and low RDW. No symptoms or anything, I just had shoulder surgery last month and just took medicine for 5days prior to surgery and took tylenol last week. This isn't really for the developers since this topic comes up all the time.
Animate Guardian is the only mid-core (between soft core and hard core) skill/ character build in the game. It's essentially like a follower in the Diablo games that can die permanently to lose all of its equipment.
Problem:
Min-maxing players are actively put off of summoner builds because optimally they'd include an AG which can die. New players are discouraged from including an AG because it can die, so it becomes difficult to tell when it's safe to include an AG.
Problem:
Even at really high levels of investment the AG can die to unforeseeable mechanics in the game. This problem comes up often when new mechanics are introduced like e.g. T17 maps or new end game bosses or new monster modifiers like from expedition.
Problem:
AG provides a lot of power to players (Kingmaker or Dying Breath, extra curses, explode, etc.) so there needs to be some penalty for running it.
Balancing option:
Make it automatically resummon after some long time (20 seconds). This would let minion builds run an AG without fearing losing equipment in softcore while giving characters with no investment in AG survivability very little uptime on their AG buffs and not offer it as a realistic option for Maw of Mischief.
Balancing option:
Make it invulnerable but have a reservation (see herald of agony). This adds an opportunity cost but can give anybody uptime on AG buffs. At 50% reservation there are few builds that would run this over any other damage aura in a fully optimized build and at 25% it would probably be quite popular - who doesn't want an extra curse, culling strike, 10 fortification, explode etc?
Balancing option:
Make minion defenses simpler and more formidable.

1. have all defensive minion stats give a flat damage reduction which caps at 90% and is about as difficult as res capping a regular character.
   
2. increase the values on minion regeneration passives from 1.5% to 15% per second.
   

This would still encourage significant investment into minion survivability and make it easier to balance new monster abilities since they would be equally reduced by flat reduction and since high regeneration deals with degens. It does however not address the mid-core aspect of AG.
Additional ramblings: I am mostly writing this for myself and am wondering what other balancing options people can think of for AG since it's such a cool skill in principle. The effectiveness of flat damage reduction on minions was something I realized when playing BAMA for the first time this league. Even in T17s they rarely died despite their pitiful life pool.
I also think mid-core content (sanctum, ultimatum, ...) is a great addition to the game, AG is more part of your character build though and there I prefer a harder line between softcore and hardcore.

Recently got married (26M). For some back ground…we hosted a small ceremony of about 15 people. Had two of my best friends attend who I knew for about 5 years. One guy is 28 and the other 30. I’ve asked both of them to be my best man at the wedding because i value them both.
When it came to the end of ceremony I’ve asked one of them to be the witness and sign off on the paper. Didn’t give it much thought at the time as it just a peace of paper. But then after all was done, I heard a slightly unpleasant remark from the other friend that he is disappointed. Thought it was a joke and I just let it go.
For the rest of the wedding that friend didn’t engage in any conversations with me and I could feel something is wrong. But since it was my wedding I decided to not think too much and enjoy the day. He also left pretty early which is unlike him as he usually stays till the end.
Comes next day and I see he removed me from his “friends” on social media and ignores my messages.
I’m like 100% sure that this is because of the paper thing. But it’s just surprised me that a 30 yo guy would get cheesed over a signature on the paper.
Not sure if it’s my fault here, and what to do now. He is my best friend after all and I don’t want to lose him over something small like this.

Im just gonna keep typing and hope that things flow out, but I doubt any of it will make much sense. Im flawed, in more ways than one. Ive spent years trying to work on myself, becoming a good human, becoming more generous and kind, less temperamental and more compassionate. Ive had some very harsh opinions on others before, and ive treated many people badly over the course of the years. Im by no means a saint, im honestly just pathetic and I don’t know why im whining anymore.
I have my issues, things so deep I cannot begin to see the bottom of the pit. Ive bottled everything inside because its what I wanted; no one forced me to, no one encouraged me to, but im too stubborn to do what I know is right after I make my first stance.
Im not alone, but I am very lonely. Around 5 years ago I started to become everything that I hated: extroverted and social; likable really. Ive tried so hard to become what is most appealing to people, and it worked for as long as I can remember. Confidence, good looking, ripped and healthy, funny, social, charming, everything you can want in a friend or a human, ive worked towards it. I don’t spend a single night at home unless I want to. Im constantly surrounded by really good people. I have a beautiful girlfriend that is everything I’ve ever wanted in a partner. Im on amazing terms with my exes, and I still thank the skies for having met them and learning what I learnt with them. Ive made amazing friends over the years, ive had a mix of good and bad, and I consider myself fortnute to be able to live this kind of life when others work much harder and suffer to obtain much less. The world is cruel and unfair, but not much to me. Im lucky at times, unlucky at others, ive been raised well and Im wary of new people. I come with the built-in problems, but nothing too severe like the lack of the love of either parent. Im surrounded by an amazing family and amazing people all around. I have close friends I can talk to things about, I think, and a girlfriend that laughs at everything I say. I often get complements on things I perform, be it sports, my looks, body, or skills like playing the piano and others that ive spent so much time trying to learn. Ive worked on myself over the past while, and it paid off; people like me, and I got what I wanted. I proved to myself that my introversion wasn’t mandatory, it was by choice. I’ve always been terrified of being lonely, and yet I find myself here. Its like everything I did was for everyone else, not for myself, even though this is what I chose and this is the life that I wanted. I know , I sound insane, like im gone too far in one direction and cannot come back from this, but nothing of the sort has happened. Im still starting my life, starting my career, professionally and academically. Im even doing very well on these fronts; I leave good impressions on most people that I meet, especially work-wise, and I don’t nearly have to work as hard to get the results needed for certain things… but
But im still lonely. Im still empty, im empty, im empty inside. I feel like there’s a whole world inside me that no one has seen, that I don’t want anyone to see. I don’t want to open up to any of the people that I know, even though ive done so in the past, and those around me are incredibly supportive of everything I do. Am I just insane? Am I imagining all those around me? Is any of it even real? Ive reached horrible points in my life before, mainly just the one time, but ive come so far since then, and that was truly rock bottom and ive survived it. For the longest time I thought that I had met my soulmate, a few of them even, people cut from the same cloth as me, people that understood who I am and what I wanted with life, and they happened to be of the sex that I prefer, which made for an even stronger emotional bond because of other factors.
I think ive just always been sad, and ive always found something to blame it on. Maybe it was the lack of friends, the lack of a partner, the lack of a gaming group, the lack of a career, the lack of a soulmate, the lack of ideas and new experiences, the lack of a wonderful sexual exploration of fantasies… the lack of myself. A character. A personality. Im not sure I know who I am anymore. Anywhere you throw me I fit. Anyway you throw me ill land on my feet. I adapt quickly, even if I hurt myself in the process. But who am I really? What have I become? Ive stuck to my values throughout my life, ive never done anything so bad that I definitely regret doing it and wouldn’t live through doing it again. Ive lived a safe life, but also very exciting. I was able to attain the kind of life that ive always dreamed of having. Being wary and safe but also partying and meeting strangers. Having my first kiss, having my first relationship, driving with friends in the open road at insane hours, watching the sun rise, throwing a big party at a rented villa. Im not sure what im missing. Ive looked into the bar being too low, and ive tried to make it higher, which is what im doing right now. I may lack an ultimate goal, but im not lost in life, I just lost who I am in the process of becoming this kind of “perfect” human. Ive made big promises to my family that I have kept, such as no smoking for example. I don’t have bad habits like drinking too much, or vaping. I don’t do things that put me at risk, im responsible with my money, and I treat others kindly for a while now.
I don’t know if I want someone. I don’t know if I want something. I know I am blessed, but I feel empty inside. Maybe this is a one time thing. Maybe I wake up tomorrow and I delete this because its too weird and embarrassing. Maybe those that I have met weren’t actually my soulmates. Maybe I just need to talk to someone. I honestly don’t know. I don’t have it all, but I have a lot, in me and in those around me, and I am forever grateful. Maybe I want to talk someone about something. Maybe I want to let me tears flow? Maybe I had issues I wasn’t aware of. I honestly don’t know, but right now, I know that je te laisserai des mots is a great song, and listening to things like this just makes me think that everything im living is a dream ill wake up from one day. Some day, maybe tomorrow. I don’t think im unappreciated. I think im just in a plane alone with no one around. I look around and theres no one I can see. I feel like my sould aches and hurts and cries for someone that isn’t there. I dream about people and chase them but I don’t know who they are or why. I don’t know you. You don’t know me. Im fractured here, broken in other places. Everything ive done hasn’t fixed the pain inside me. Maybe I just want to talk to you. A friend, an ally, a soul.

Arcane knights deserve a buff. Mage armor should get a bit stronger, there should be an upgrade that makes it so that instead of hits getting rid of the armor, time does, like resilience from warriors. I know that mage barrier would just make you immortal, but with the work it takes to become a strong arcane knight, you're already incredibly strong. Arcane blade is already super powerful, but there should be different mage armors for when you become an arcane knight. Your only choices are endgame, even thuramiam plate is endgame because it requires you killing Valeran. I think there should be different mage armors, heres two ideas: (note: if I have another idea I'll make another post) (another note:yes, i dont know how to edit posts)

Looking for any advice on the best way to approach a renewal later this year.
House worth ~4-4.2m (Paid ~4.35m in 2022 in an established area of Toronto that has been holding it's value based on comparables and other recent sales)
Primary mortgage is a FlexLine with a balance of ~1.63mm at p-1.3% (5.9%). This matures in January of 2027. No balance on the revolving portion (prime-0%) and no other debt.
When we moved we ported our previous mortgage over which has a balance of just under $200k and is currently at 1.74%. This renews in October of this year.
Both are with TD. Is it worth shopping the 200k renewal around later this year? Would any A lenders be interested in a 2nd mortgage or would that be wasting time? Do we just take whatever renewal offer TD gives us?
We are very fortunately have been able to do lump-sum payments of 200-300k each year so we could potentially pay off the balance upon maturity with the revolving portion of our HELOC for a few months before paying it off next spring. But I don't see the point in that as my thought is to lock it in at a lower rate and then just direct any lump-sum payments to whichever mortgage is at a higher rate.

Technical Analysis
Novavax, Inc. (Ticker: NVAX) exhibited a significant price surge on May 13, 2024, with the stock closing at $13.11, marking an impressive 47.64% increase from the previous session. This spike in price places the stock at its 52-week high of $13.97, showcasing strong upward momentum. The massive volume on that day, reported at 122.16 million shares, is substantially higher than the average volume of 9.46 million, indicating heightened investor interest and activity.
Critically, Novavax's RSI (Relative Strength Index) stands at an extremely elevated level of 93, suggesting the stock may be overbought in the short term, which could lead to a potential pullback as traders and investors might look to take profits.
