2024.04.18 20:39 polosexual Just bought a truck and someone shot it before I could get it registered and insured plz help! (California)

I just bought a 1998 Ranger from a friend about 2 weeks ago and I haven't had time to go to the DMV and register it or insure it (work has been busy and I've been out of town). I have 2 motorcycles insured through Allstate with comprehensive coverage and a renter's policy with them as well. Is this something that might be covered by my existing policy, or by theirs? I have heard there's a grace period for insurance in CA, and I didn't expect to come home and find my car all shot up like this...
Any help or advice is very much appreciated

2024.04.11 01:28 Burrie2481 Can’t live without a Shuffle.

I won my first iPod shuffle in a raffle at a job in 1996. (They were worth at least a couple hundred back then, believe it or not, so it was a big deal). I took excellent care of it & used it until 2011! It gave out eventually, and I got my 2nd one in 2011 (4th generation, I believe); and at the start of 2024, it too gave out. Pretty amazing to have only TWO (very much used, daily!) shuffles to last 28 years!?!? So, I found a seller of the first or 2nd Gen on eBay, paid $42, and ALSO bought the $7 Allstate “warranty” of 2 years
. It worked with a struggle or 2 for just 4 months. 🤨 it’s not a battery issue. My laptop just doesn’t recognize the device anymore, after being able to download Apple owned music several times in that 4 months. Have tried it on other computers as well….it’s done.
Running with a phone just blows….I cannot and will not do it. I can’t give up running though.
Anyone have a reliable seller they know (eBay or otherwise) where I could buy myself at least 5 or 6 or more years with another shuffle?? 4th Gen seems to be most loved.

2024.04.04 00:40 SavingsDiscipline523 Am i the asshole for wanting to sue my father's ex-girlfriend

My father was in a coma and died in 2022. Soon after he died She sold his motorcycle, claiming it was hers, when it wasn't. My father won the motorcycle in a raffle (2015) , and she loaned him $5 to buy the ticket. She also got at least. 1 last check from his job, plus a part of the life insurance money (around $20,000) he was still married to my little brother mom's (he never got divorced) and she decided to give her that part of the inheritance money, while he was in a coma my brothers and I decided to disconnect him from the machines since he was partially brain dead and to donate his organs but she refused and since we don't live in the same state as him we weren't able to take action. He died, and we weren't able to donate the organs (she didn't let us disconnect him, and the organs began to fail). she told the funeral that he was divorced and they created the death certificate like he was when he wasn't (my brother's mom had to go to lawyers to fix it)
Since he always said he didn't want no funeral service, just to cremate him, we decided to tell everyone to not do any kind of service because he dint want us to do one, she did so anyway, she never contact us to tell us of the service nor to tell us she wanted to sell the bike, she also kept his car, tools watches and other stuff, we haven't received his ashes either we assume that she has them, I'm scared to called her and ask for them and she telling me she doesn't have them because she dispose them

2024.03.31 03:46 gastropod11 AAA Insurance

Just wanted to give a heads up about my AAA insurance. Less than $1000 for full coverage in SoCal.
Got my 2021 GSXR600 3 years ago with insurance quotes $4000+ for the year. Allstate got me down to a little over $2000 because they listed it as an off-road vehicle lol.
Switched to AAA when my car insurance when up and asked then if they do motorcycle. They only insure motorcycles if you have car insurance with them. It was less than $1000 for full coverage! Highly recommend paying the ~$50 for the membership if it saves you that much money!
Figured I'd let people know because of these high insurance price posts!

2024.03.13 03:41 bluecatky Allstate liability

I was involved in an accident with a driver insured by Allstate last month. I was riding my motorcycle. I had just left a light that just went green, moved into the left lane and was accelerating to the speed limit. A driver pulled out of a parting lot from the right, and was turning left across traffic. I started slowing down, and then they stopped in my lane and I wasn't able to stop in time and hit them. I wasn't speeding, it was daylight, clear and dry. The police report shows them failing to yield and misjudging clearance. I also have a witness that states that I did everything I could to stop in time. Allstate is only taking 60% liability when I think their driver was fully liable.
One of the allstate reps I spoke to today says my fault was failing to take action to avoid the accident or something along those lines. The person handling my claim is out of the office until next Monday.
Does anyone have any insight that I might not be considering as to why I am being found almost half at fault for a driver pulling out in front of me and stopping in my lane? Are they likely to change their mind if I contest the liability?
Edit: So apparently they were still investigating fault and at that point and it just wasn't conveyed to me then. Just got a call from my adjuster that Allstate accepted full liability on their driver.

Three Feathers Outreach Spring Gathering, May 4th & 5th, East Peoria
Mark your calendars! Three Feathers Outreach, Inc is a local small nonprofit organization with the mission of delivering food, clothes, and supplies to Native Americans on the reservations as well as helping anyone in need.
We are hosting our very first Spring Gathering at the UAW building on Springfield Rd in East Peoria on May 4th & May 5th! Free admission for all! We will have lots of things to do and see, including: birds, flute players, food trucks, dancers, motorcycle blessing, Native guest speakers, painted horses, prayer tie fire, quilt raffle, silent auctions, storytelling, vendors, and a whole lot more! We will be showcasing the plight of murdered and missing Indigenous women (MMIW) / REDress.
We also will be bringing in comedian Gilbert Brown all the way from Oregon for a comedy show on Saturday, May 4th, from 6pm-7pm. Donations of $10/person would be much appreciated as the money raised goes into supporting our organization and mission!
We still have openings for vendors as well, please message us if you’re interested in setting up a table!
