To start, I’m at a “no kill” shelter where we cut off admissions instead of thinning the current herd. So there was no urgency for this cat to go. There was even a backup adopter who also wanted the same cat so she was going to get a home either way.
We’ve had a great cat for about 5 weeks now. About 2 years old, Siamese, crazy friendly and sweet and goofy. Today a woman showed up to adopt her and then casually mentions that she lost a couple friends after she adopted her last cat. Apparently she made a celebratory Facebook post about getting the cat and several people called her out for asking them for money to buy food for herself but still taking on a new pet. So she was going to make sure not to post this cat to Facebook. She told us this like it was a funny story that she lost friends over the last cat.
Which obviously makes me question how she will also afford this cat along with the 2 she already owns. She wanted the cat purely based on looks, because the cat reminds her of her cat that died a few years ago.
I told my boss and we still adopted the cat out to her. Emphasizing that if it ever doesn’t work out for any reason to bring her back. But it feels wrong to adopt a cat to someone who has just admitted they struggle with affording 2 cats. And more wrong to accept the $110 she had to pay for the adoption, when within the last year she hasn’t been able to feed herself. She is older, retired, and mentioned living on social security checks a couple times.

So my parents are divorced. They divorced when I was 2/3 years old. From what my mom tells me, it was a messy divorce. Again, from what my mom tells me about my biological dad is that he suffered a lot from depression, narcissism and bipolar disorder. My mom and my little sister and I migrated out of our home country leaving my biological father behind. I am now 30 y/o and all of my life I have been wanting to track him down to find closure as to why he gave up so easily on us. Anyway, I tracked him down and we started chatting on Facebook. I told my mom about it and she was fine with me talking to him since I’m grown now. I asked him why he left and he was blaming everything on my mom so I talked to my mom about it and eventually she ended up telling me some things I wasn’t ready to hear.
She told me that my biologicals father mother (my grandmother) is a witch and practices witchcraft. She said that when I was born she kept my umbilical cord and after the divorce she threatened my mom that if I wasn’t able to see my dad she would track me down and make sure I never stopped inquiring about them because she had kept my umbilical cord and had the power to do so. Well it’s true, I never stopped trying to find my biological father. When I was on speaking terms with him he sent me a whole bunch of pictures of me as a baby and one of them was me as a baby with my mom inside the grocery store they owned. My mom had never owned this photograph. I showed my mom the pictures and she didn’t have much to say, I was just admiring her beauty and she agreed that she was very beautiful when she was young.
Fast forward to Mother’s Day on Sunday. I came across the picture while scrolling through my photo album in my phone. I favorited the picture and I was just admiring it. Didn’t think much more of it other than it’s a really nice picture and how much I love my mom.
Fast forward again to this morning. I get a call from my mom while grocery shopping and she tells me that she was cleaning out her dresser drawer and found the picture in her pile of stuff. I couldn’t believe her! I don’t know what to think of this. My mom is a very religious person and just keeps telling me to believe in god and put everything in his hands and he will protect me. I’m not the biggest believer. I am terrified. For years I have been dealing with depression and social anxiety to the point where I get a lot of suicidal thoughts and now I’m starting to wonder if my depression is linked to my biological grandmother playing witchcraft on me. This is me venting but am also curious to know what everyone's relationship is like with half-siblings. Here's my story. I'm sorry in advance for how long this is, along with the grammarun-ons. I'm trying to give the Reddit community as much context as I can dating as far back as my memory takes me.
I (F 28) have two younger biological sisters (identical twins, F 25). The three of us were born after my dad married my mom (arranged marriage) after he and his first wife got divorced.
I believe my dad's first marriage lasted about 10 years. They had two kids together (my half-siblings). My older brother and I have an 8-year age difference, and my older sister and I have a 10-year age difference. Growing up, they used to visit us a few times a year including summer break or alternating holidays. Sometimes they would visit during Thanksgiving, other times during Christmas.
We used to be pretty close (at least I thought), but the relationship has become increasingly strained through the years. I understand the fact that there are ALWAYS two sides to every story, but I believe that my dad was on the right side of things and the marriage ended because two people weren't compatible and got married too young. It's always unfortunate when there are kids involved, and I'm sure it was tough with my older siblings being impacted at a young age.
It started when our grandpa (my dad's dad) passed away in November 2015. My brother suddenly stopped talking to my dad/our family immediately for whatever reason. He was the only person that didn't come to my grandpa's funeral. I honestly think he was holding a grudge that he didn't find out immediately when my grandpa passed, but I can't be too sure. We've never addressed that directly.
Fast forward 8 months to July 2016, when my dad's side of the family had a reunion at a first cousin's wedding. The vibes from my brother were like nothing had happened, and then after the wedding weekend, he was back to being silent. When my grandma (dad's mom) passed away in June 2019 he didn't show up to the funeral then either. Granted I didn't, but not because I didn't want to. I was a poor grad student and couldn't afford an $800 ticket on short notice and didn't want to burden my parents to pay for me to fly back for a couple of days either on top of how busy they were with funeral arrangements.
My brother went about 5 years to not talk to my dad or any of us. Then, out of nowhere, he calls one day to announce that he's getting married. The wedding is set for October 2022. I think he was buttering up my dad and our family to come to the wedding, because he knew it would look bad if everyone asked where his dad was for his wedding, and it would reflect poorly on him. The communication in 2022 was pretty consistent leading up to the wedding, and my older siblings would call my dad almost every weekend knowing that they needed us to show up to the wedding.
My older sister (F 38) had a baby girl in July 2018. Our dad was thrilled, his oldest daughter made him a grandpa. But there is clear separation and favoritism there, as my niece only sees her mom's side of the family being in the same area in the DMV. For those who aren't familiar with DC/MD/VA, my older sister lives in Virginia, in Arlington, and her mom lives in Herndon. About a 30-minute drive from each other. My parents live across the country in Orange County, so visits are far and few in between for my dad and his grandchild. I live on the Maryland side, and the state line between Maryland and Virginia is roughly 30 min, depending on where you go and the time of day. Anyway, I don't even know if my niece knows that she has another grandpa, outside of what she knows about my sister's mom and stepdad, and my brother-in-law's parents, who split time between the US and Nepal. I feel so bad for my dad because that's his grandkid too and everyone deserves the joy of being involved in their grandkids lives. My dad has seen my niece several times but the relationship is pretty surface level. It's not her fault, she doesn't know him like she does my sister's mom and stepdad, plus it's a proximity thing living on opposite sides of the country. We have FaceTime for these reasons though.
My husband and I aren't ready to have kids yet, and we want them. We've only been married for almost 7 months so we're still trying to live life before we settle down. I hope nothing more than to be able to give my parents a grandkid one day because I want my dad and mom to experience what they missed from my older half-siblings isolating them from their kids. That is if I'm able to have kids, I know we can't control these things.
This brings me to my next point (if you're still reading this, I appreciate you). My husband and I got married in October 2023. Our parents on both sides did everything they could to give us the wedding of our dreams, and it was everything we imagined and hoped for, and I'm forever grateful for that. I know that my wedding hit my dad harder emotionally than the first two with my older siblings because he was not at all involved during theirs. That wasn't by choice, my older siblings' mom probably didn't want him to be involved. Divorced dynamics are so confusing. You're telling me you can't come together and be civilized for a day/weekend? After my wedding, a few months later, sometime in January or February 2024, my dad called me to talk about how my sister was upset after our wedding and she vented about a few things with him on the phone. He was relaying the message over.
For context, I uploaded our wedding pictures on Facebook, because I have so many family members overseas in Nepal who weren't able to attend the wedding, and it was honestly the most convenient way to showcase our pictures since people in Nepal are ridiculously active on Facebook. My sister has social media, my brother got rid of his TwitteFacebook/Instagram/everything many years ago. Our photographer took several thousand pictures throughout the wedding weekend events, and of course, there were moments captured of my older sister and her family, including my brother-in-law, and niece. I will admit out of spite since my sister never posts anything about me and my dad/family, I tagged but then later on deleted those pictures she was in. Why would I have pictures of her on my social media when she's never posted anything of us? She doesn't even like or comment on anything on my social media, and when you have siblings, this is not something you discuss, you just do it. Duh. Over the last few days, I unfollowed her and unfriended her on Facebook and Instagram. For me, it makes no sense to keep people on my newsfeed if I don't interact with them, and I have plenty of family members and friends that I already have a strongemore communicative relationship with.
If my sister was upset about this, why did she call my dad to vent about this months later instead of coming to me? My dad told me she complained that he didn't mention her or my older brother during his speech at our wedding. But am I wrong for thinking, why would he? It's a celebration for me and my husband. I thought that was very conceited and selfish. The day wasn't about her, and my dad's speech was so heartfelt that I cried. I believe she was offended she didn't get the same during hers. However, my sister and brother never asked our dad to give a toast at their weddings. Only their mom did, which is messed up in my opinion.
I understand divorce is messy and complicated, and people go through years of therapy to fix, or maybe even never fix issues completely. It's hard, and I'm just a product of his second marriage. But I've never understood the jealousy that seems to exist, specifically between my older sister and me.
I tried reaching out to both of them in a group iMessage, talking about how I am not happy with the way they're treating our dad. My brother has stopped calling my dad completely over the last few months since his son (my dad's second grandkid) was born a few months ago in February. My sister calls maybe once a month. I wanted to confront them about this ongoing behavior and ill will toward our family. They didn't even have the guts to respond to me, I suggested if they have time to FaceTime so we can have a real adult conversation about what is their issue. My parents are flying to DC this weekend and the original plan was to drive a few hours north so they could see my brother's baby. No communication with my brother whatsoever to coordinate. I feel devastatingly sad for my dad.
I'm not even going to get into their treatment of my mom. That's another long story, but basically, it's them not giving a hoot about her, even though she's the one who took care of them and stepped up when they visited growing up. As a stepmom, it's hard to deal with kids from a previous marriage. But she did it and she loves them, and they're nothing but passive-aggressive and mean to her. They never wish her happy birthday, happy Mother's Day, or my parents happy anniversary. It takes two seconds. For me, if you disrespect my parents, you're disrespecting me.
Since then, my sister has unfollowed and unfriended everyone on social media, including my dad, my younger sisters, and my husband. All because she couldn't handle that I did that to her. I'm just not for this nasty behavior, and I know we all need to unpack a lot in therapy (me and my older siblings specifically). Their behavior is cowardly, and I can't be the only one that thinks this, right? I don't know. It didn't have to be like this. I'm sure their mom has been telling them bad things about the marriage and my dad for years. I'm not saying he probably didn't make mistakes, but there are, once again, two sides to everyone's story. None of us kids have heard both sides directly from the source, and probably never will. It makes me sad, especially for my dad. I know life will go on. I tried to reach out, and if they don't want to talk about these issues like adults, then I have nothing else to say.

I'll just state facts to make it easy if anyone is willing to advise me on this. We have an appointment set to have my father update his will for two weeks from now.
* My father has a terminal diagnosis. We don't know how long he may have. These wishes that he has are things that he has stated before so I don't believe it has anything to do with his condition. That will happen later and he has NOT been declared incompetent.
* I am the eldest of four children. two daughters two sons. I am the only one without children.
* There are five grandchildren- Age range 6-24
* I am designated as executor as I'm the only child that is financially stable and that my father trusts completely.
* the estate has a bank account with under $40,000.00 and an IRA account with over $600,000 this money has not been taxed yet. This includes a home, three small properties with mobile homes and various vehicles/campers. Everything is paid for. I'm estimating the amounts as they may ebb and flow before his final passing.
* My father wants to form a trust that ensures that his grandchildren will inherit everything... yet has stipulations like this: He wants the house that he built and the land to stay in the family for anyone to be able to live there when they like (grandchildren). This house doesn't even have that many bedrooms if they all wanted to stay there at the same time. I'm not sure how this is in his head other than that he wants the house to be in the family.
* He doesn't want his children to be able to touch any of the money or property. Just the grandchildren.
* None of the grandchildren from different families have every really spent time together. They wouldn't recognize each other on the street if it weren't' for maybe a Facebook photo they may be able to look up. None of the siblings get along well. Barring my sister and I who do get along. I haven't' spoken to my half brother for over five years. My brother is a raging alcoholic and is abusive in general to family. My sister lives 1000 miles away.
So I know what work this will be for me to manage. I'll have to file a trust tax return and issue K-1s etc.
I also realize that as much as he thinks this is enough money for forever to support the house... it WILL NOT last a long time. With property taxes and upkeep I can't see it lasting... especially when he also stipulated that he wants the grandkids to be able to take money out of the trust $20,000 at a time after they reach the age of 24 years old. Not sure on the limit there.
I realize that I can walk away as the executor. I also know that putting that on my sister as next in line would be terrible for her as it's 1000 miles away from where she lives.
Also to add, I love my family but some of us are just not responsible. I'm not sure how the other grandkids are gonna turn out but my eldest nephew (24) is doing decently holding down a job but he currently lives in a shed by his friend's house so that he can play video games all night. So obviously he's gonna want to move into the house ... but he's also had an eviction on his record for damaging an apartment. I don't' want to deal with that.
I just can foresee a future of me arguing with my family over what they can and can't do with the trust. The parents whose kids are too young now to enjoy the house... they're going to be asking for money I imagine.
I mean.. can he make this a thing in his will? If he does can everyone bow out and just sell it and give the money to the grandkids? I know this isn't the legal advice sub but if you're a lawyer you can definitely weigh in. I love my father so much and I want him to be happy and have his wishes met but he refuses to understand that this will be work for me for many years. Unless I hand it off. Then it's bad for my sister... then the final option is the alcoholic brother who I can imagine would maybe try to take it all. He hasn't held down a job for longer than a year for quite some time now. After dad's diagnosis he immediately started calling me and saying he was coming to "take over" because he's a man and that I'm "Not intelligent enough to handle it".
The fourth sibling isn't an option because my father says he's not leaving anything to him. I didn't ask why.
I just feel like my father is leaving me nothing but work and grief and he has no concept of that. He's not even leaving me anything in the will. Which hurts sure, but I don't really need it. My siblings are paycheck to paycheck in general. I know that if he gave it to my siblings they'd be able to improve the grandkids lives NOW and have money for college.
Anyone have any advice or suggestions about what to ask the lawyer at the appointment? I'll be attending with my dad. I planned on writing some suggestions for him to consider to avoid all of the years of paperwork and tax issues for everyone.
How can I express to him that his legacy should be positive and not full of strife and fighting which I know will happen after? I mean.. I've already told him that everyone would be fighting. He doesn't seem to think it's a big deal. I'm starting to grieve now and you know, I just want to be able to grieve and move on after.
TLDR: How can I get my father to understand that his final wishes for his estate will cause decades of fighting and strife within the family? He wants to set up a trust involving a house he wants kept in the family in perpetuity for his 5 grandchildren to share. Ages range from 6-24. the grandkids don't know the other ones from different families as their parent's don't get along. What would you do... just walk away as executor knowing that it'll be a huge implosion to the family as you walk away or try to influence him to make it easier?

This approach helped us secure the first 15 to 20 users.
To hit our goal of 50 for our beta, we capitalized on the timing by releasing it at the beginning of the year (new years resolutions and whatnot), leveraging my social media presence to invite more people to try the app.
The timing, coupled with the growing interest in AI, helped us reach our goal of 50 users.
I vividly remember posting about our private beta on Facebook, hoping for a few responses, and waking up to dozens of messages from people eager to try it out. It was a thrilling moment that showed me there was real interest in what we were building.
Actionable Step: Validate with Friends and Community
Effective Strategies and Platforms
One effective strategy was limiting the number of users who could join the private beta, creating a sense of urgency.
Facebook was the primary platform for user acquisition, given its algorithm and the personal connection it offers.
We also created a Facebook group for FitHero.ai, which allowed us to collect feedback, share updates, and engage with users in a private community. This approach fostered a sense of exclusivity and community among early adopters.
People love to feel like they're part of something exclusive, and this really drove engagement.

In particular, polls were excellent ways of gathering valuable feedback. Most posts to the group didn't get a ton of engagement, but when I posted a poll, it was easy for people to give feedback.

Acquiring your first 50 users can definitely be challenging, but through a combination of timing, value-proposition and putting ourselves out there, we were able to do it and gather great feedback along the way.

2024.05.14 22:37 AFoxNamedFelicity My BF [25M] and I [25F] came to an agreement on a serious situation, and now he’s saying he doesn’t remember agreeing with me. What should I do?

Over the past few weeks, my boyfriend and I have been making plans to move. Our plan to move is based on the fact that he would support me until I was stable ( working full time and have a consistent schedule). He will get to transfer and keep his job, and I would have to look for a new job. We agreed this would be fine as long as I worked two jobs now to save up and help with the bills when I’m jobless. This is just for context not the issue.
Recently (like 2-3 weeks ago) I was able to find a second job, and now I am working about 70-75 hours a week, and I still make sure to do our home chores (wash, cook(when it’s my turn), and clean). However it has been hard for me since I’m working more now. A lot of my days are 12 hours days (6a-6p or 5a-5pm(I’m a dispatcher)), and his days are also 12hr days but he always gets the weekend off(pest control).
This is where the issue starts; Last week I asked him to do the dishes and to dust the AC unit, and I would handle everything else in the house. He said it was fine he would do it, but we are now in a new week and I have mold growing in the kitchen sink because the dishes are not done, and I’m having really bad allergies because the ac unit is still caked in dust. He says he will do it on his own time and that he hasn’t done it yet because he’s been tired.
This morning I decided to throw all the dishes in the sink away because at this point everything was covered in mold, and the sink was super stinky and nasty. I decided to call him and let him know what I had done, and I also express how I feel about him not doing as I asked. His response to me was that it’s been a busy week for him and that he has to work out in the sun so when he gets home he’s tired. I did criticize him as a response, because I do feel like he had more than enough time last week to get it done. There were days he didn’t work 12hrs, also when he gets home he sits in his truck for an hour watching TikTok’s or scrolling facebook(I’ve caught him doing this multiple times).
Out of frustration; I said “maybe I should stop asking you to things, or can you at least just tell me you don’t want to do something that way I will do it myself”
His response “yes, you should stop asking me to do things for you. You can do them if you want them to get done.”
At that point I was in shock because I wasn’t expecting that response since we have been operating like a team since we got together. So to double check what he said. I asked him again is that what he wanted for me to stop asking him for help and relying on him for support. He said yes and then we got off the phone. I was upset at his response but I got over it because he is entitled to his opinion and if he doesn’t want to help/support me that’s his choice. So seeing as I wouldn’t get anymore help I decided that it was best we didn’t move in with each other.
It’s been a few hours since we had this convo and he reached out to me asking about some tires he wanted to buy. I told him that was fine and I would help him get the tires, and I also told him wasn’t moving in with him. I said due to our earlier conversation I wouldn’t feel safe moving in with him. I would move on my own and handling things by myself and he should handle everything by himself. HE SWEARS up and down he never agreed to stop helping/supporting me. When I reminded him of what he said, his response was “oh, I wasn’t even focused on our conversation earlier. I didn’t realize I said that but I didn’t mean it.”
So my question now is what should I do? I’ve been emotional disrupted by my partner and he says he doesn’t remember. He has taken accountability for his actions, but tbh it’s not enough for me. I’m honestly at the point where the relationship isn’t worth the headache.

We were immediately very sassy with each other and he made me smile a lot. The other work friends around our age definitely felt any chemistry I guess and one even went to him and said “ooohhh I can feel the love in the room” when I was cleaning somewhere. He’s very sweet and funny and in the most respectful way possible, doesn’t seem Mormon at all. As one does when they have a crush, I looked up if he had a facebook or instagram or something and he didn’t, but I found his dads facebook and kinda sorta stalked it a little, and I saw his family is Mormon. I have quite the developing crush on him and we make eye contact and always try to talk to each other at work and I kinda suspect that he likes me a little too but obviously I don’t wanna assume things. I grew up Christian, and my parents even helped start a new church, but later learned that they were atheist and left. I was probably like 8. The feelings about religion my parents have are kind of toxic about it so idk how I feel about it, but even though I’ve picked up on some of those feelings, I never judge people for their religion. I don’t identify with anything because I don’t know what I believe and it’s a very confusing subject for me. Warning long post.
Men of Reddit that have had successful long term relationships please help.
My current relationship me 33M her 31F unofficially started around two years ago. Met on Facebook dating and had a great date but we both had recently exited our past relationships and weren’t really looking to settle down. We hung out regularly, went to concerts and hooked up. This lasted for basically a year.
The last half of that year she was telling me she wanted something real with me and she had never felt this way. I had similar feelings and after a year of courting we became officially a couple.
Within a few weeks of becoming a couple it comes out that she had hooked up with multiple other people and even dated a guy for a few weeks because she genuinely thought I would never move forward with her. She had told me he was a friend during that time and there was at least one more that she hooked up with.
I took some time and really considered leaving her. My heart was completely broken, yes we weren’t official but we had had a conversation where we both agreed we were just sleeping with each other. In the end I decided to forgive her since I wasn’t perfect and was definitely wishy washy about it. Typically we’re both highly sexual people and I realize if I was an attractive woman I may have done what she did.
Now we’re a year in, no cheating… I’ve watched closely. We’ve blocked countless Random’s on Instagram etc. she’s been pretty good about changing those habits and making me feel secure. Our sex like up until recently was amazing. Like twice a day was a slow day. I loved that about her because I’ve always been high libido.
In February she gets pregnant and basically since then we don’t have any physical intimacy. Idk what to do, this has poisoned past relationships for me. I’m trying to be understanding that she’s pregnant and feels weird but it still gets to me.
So two questions
  1. Does anyone have tips on how to get a woman interested in sex more often? I’m doing everything I can to not be a pest to her about it and spend my time cleaning, cooking and taking care of the house. Any other things I can try?
  2. How do I stop ruminating on this? This is me venting but am also curious to know what everyone's relationship is like with half-siblings. Here's my story. I'm sorry in advance for how long this is, along with the grammarun-ons. I'm trying to give the Reddit community as much context as I can dating as far back as my memory takes me.
I (F 28) have two younger biological sisters (identical twins, F 25). The three of us were born after my dad married my mom (arranged marriage) after he and his first wife got divorced.
I believe my dad's first marriage lasted about 10 years. They had two kids together (my half-siblings). My older brother and I have an 8-year age difference, and my older sister and I have a 10-year age difference. Growing up, they used to visit us a few times a year including summer break or alternating holidays. Sometimes they would visit during Thanksgiving, other times during Christmas.
We used to be pretty close (at least I thought), but the relationship has become increasingly strained through the years. I understand the fact that there are ALWAYS two sides to every story, but I believe that my dad was on the right side of things and the marriage ended because two people weren't compatible and got married too young. It's always unfortunate when there are kids involved, and I'm sure it was tough with my older siblings being impacted at a young age.
It started when our grandpa (my dad's dad) passed away in November 2015. My brother suddenly stopped talking to my dad/our family immediately for whatever reason. He was the only person that didn't come to my grandpa's funeral. I honestly think he was holding a grudge that he didn't find out immediately when my grandpa passed, but I can't be too sure. We've never addressed that directly.
Fast forward 8 months to July 2016, when my dad's side of the family had a reunion at a first cousin's wedding. The vibes from my brother were like nothing had happened, and then after the wedding weekend, he was back to being silent. When my grandma (dad's mom) passed away in June 2019 he didn't show up to the funeral then either. Granted I didn't, but not because I didn't want to. I was a poor grad student and couldn't afford an $800 ticket on short notice and didn't want to burden my parents to pay for me to fly back for a couple of days either on top of how busy they were with funeral arrangements.
My brother went about 5 years to not talk to my dad or any of us. Then, out of nowhere, he calls one day to announce that he's getting married. The wedding is set for October 2022. I think he was buttering up my dad and our family to come to the wedding, because he knew it would look bad if everyone asked where his dad was for his wedding, and it would reflect poorly on him. The communication in 2022 was pretty consistent leading up to the wedding, and my older siblings would call my dad almost every weekend knowing that they needed us to show up to the wedding.
My older sister (F 38) had a baby girl in July 2018. Our dad was thrilled, his oldest daughter made him a grandpa. But there is clear separation and favoritism there, as my niece only sees her mom's side of the family being in the same area in the DMV. For those who aren't familiar with DC/MD/VA, my older sister lives in Virginia, in Arlington, and her mom lives in Herndon. About a 30-minute drive from each other. My parents live across the country in Orange County, so visits are far and few in between for my dad and his grandchild. I live on the Maryland side, and the state line between Maryland and Virginia is roughly 30 min, depending on where you go and the time of day. Anyway, I don't even know if my niece knows that she has another grandpa, outside of what she knows about my sister's mom and stepdad, and my brother-in-law's parents, who split time between the US and Nepal. I feel so bad for my dad because that's his grandkid too and everyone deserves the joy of being involved in their grandkids lives. My dad has seen my niece several times but the relationship is pretty surface level. It's not her fault, she doesn't know him like she does my sister's mom and stepdad, plus it's a proximity thing living on opposite sides of the country. We have FaceTime for these reasons though.
My husband and I aren't ready to have kids yet, and we want them. We've only been married for almost 7 months so we're still trying to live life before we settle down. I hope nothing more than to be able to give my parents a grandkid one day because I want my dad and mom to experience what they missed from my older half-siblings isolating them from their kids. That is if I'm able to have kids, I know we can't control these things.
This brings me to my next point (if you're still reading this, I appreciate you). My husband and I got married in October 2023. Our parents on both sides did everything they could to give us the wedding of our dreams, and it was everything we imagined and hoped for, and I'm forever grateful for that. I know that my wedding hit my dad harder emotionally than the first two with my older siblings because he was not at all involved during theirs. That wasn't by choice, my older siblings' mom probably didn't want him to be involved. Divorced dynamics are so confusing. You're telling me you can't come together and be civilized for a day/weekend? After my wedding, a few months later, sometime in January or February 2024, my dad called me to talk about how my sister was upset after our wedding and she vented about a few things with him on the phone. He was relaying the message over.
For context, I uploaded our wedding pictures on Facebook, because I have so many family members overseas in Nepal who weren't able to attend the wedding, and it was honestly the most convenient way to showcase our pictures since people in Nepal are ridiculously active on Facebook. My sister has social media, my brother got rid of his TwitteFacebook/Instagram/everything many years ago. Our photographer took several thousand pictures throughout the wedding weekend events, and of course, there were moments captured of my older sister and her family, including my brother-in-law, and niece. I will admit out of spite since my sister never posts anything about me and my dad/family, I tagged but then later on deleted those pictures she was in. Why would I have pictures of her on my social media when she's never posted anything of us? She doesn't even like or comment on anything on my social media, and when you have siblings, this is not something you discuss, you just do it. Duh. Over the last few days, I unfollowed her and unfriended her on Facebook and Instagram. For me, it makes no sense to keep people on my newsfeed if I don't interact with them, and I have plenty of family members and friends that I already have a strongemore communicative relationship with.
If my sister was upset about this, why did she call my dad to vent about this months later instead of coming to me? My dad told me she complained that he didn't mention her or my older brother during his speech at our wedding. But am I wrong for thinking, why would he? It's a celebration for me and my husband. I thought that was very conceited and selfish. The day wasn't about her, and my dad's speech was so heartfelt that I cried. I believe she was offended she didn't get the same during hers. However, my sister and brother never asked our dad to give a toast at their weddings. Only their mom did, which is messed up in my opinion.
I understand divorce is messy and complicated, and people go through years of therapy to fix, or maybe even never fix issues completely. It's hard, and I'm just a product of his second marriage. But I've never understood the jealousy that seems to exist, specifically between my older sister and me.
I tried reaching out to both of them in a group iMessage, talking about how I am not happy with the way they're treating our dad. My brother has stopped calling my dad completely over the last few months since his son (my dad's second grandkid) was born a few months ago in February. My sister calls maybe once a month. I wanted to confront them about this ongoing behavior and ill will toward our family. They didn't even have the guts to respond to me, I suggested if they have time to FaceTime so we can have a real adult conversation about what is their issue. My parents are flying to DC this weekend and the original plan was to drive a few hours north so they could see my brother's baby. No communication with my brother whatsoever to coordinate. I feel devastatingly sad for my dad.
I'm not even going to get into their treatment of my mom. That's another long story, but basically, it's them not giving a hoot about her, even though she's the one who took care of them and stepped up when they visited growing up. As a stepmom, it's hard to deal with kids from a previous marriage. But she did it and she loves them, and they're nothing but passive-aggressive and mean to her. They never wish her happy birthday, happy Mother's Day, or my parents happy anniversary. It takes two seconds. For me, if you disrespect my parents, you're disrespecting me.
Since then, my sister has unfollowed and unfriended everyone on social media, including my dad, my younger sisters, and my husband. All because she couldn't handle that I did that to her. I'm just not for this nasty behavior, and I know we all need to unpack a lot in therapy (me and my older siblings specifically). Their behavior is cowardly, and I can't be the only one that thinks this, right? I don't know. It didn't have to be like this. I'm sure their mom has been telling them bad things about the marriage and my dad for years. I'm not saying he probably didn't make mistakes, but there are, once again, two sides to everyone's story. None of us kids have heard both sides directly from the source, and probably never will. It makes me sad, especially for my dad. I know life will go on. I tried to reach out, and if they don't want to talk about these issues like adults, then I have nothing else to say.

It’s a long story but I’ll try to make it short. My partner (23M) and I (24F) both have issues which have caused fights and near-break ups before, but we want to work through our individual problems together. He recently moved 4 hours away for his job and when he came home this weekend to visit things were slightly awkward between us. Day 2 he accuses me of not loving him anymore and not wanting to be with him, which came out of nowhere and I was upset. I told him it wasn’t true but he wouldn’t believe me and we fought, during the fight he told me that he thought the awkwardness during this visit was because I was jealous. I have never really been jealous before, and when I am I try to work it out by myself because I know usually it’s not his fault, so that was strange to me. I asked him why he would assume I was jealous and he didn’t really know how to answer so I pointed out how I’m never jealous. I even cited examples of times I could’ve been jealous but got over it without even bringing it up to him, like the fact that he searches his ex and one of his coworkers on Facebook all the time (at least weekly I think), which used to bother me a little but I got over it. Or how one time he lied to me for a week straight about a girl he wanted to start a band with, told me he met her through a friend and he wanted to practice with her at that friends house with him present when in fact he had met her on tinder before we met and the scheduled practice was alone with her at her house. That one really bothered me at the time but I told myself he wouldn’t do anything to hurt me and was probably just nervous to tell me he wanted to hang out with her. He told me he searches his ex “as a friend” because he’s “worried about them,” but they aren’t even Facebook friends and aren’t in contact and I find it strange that he’s so worried about someone he hasn’t spoken to or seen in years, and he denied searching a coworker but I’m sure I’ve seen her there before. For the record I’m not snooping, I just always see their names there when he searches on Facebook. He said with the other girl he was never planning to cheat he just didn’t know how to tell me the truth but idk. Now I’m thinking why would he call me jealous out of nowhere if there isn’t a reason for me to be jealous? He’s been crying and apologizing, he says I’m his soulmate, and he says he’s always been a liar and he doesn’t want to be but he would never actually do anything to hurt me. I don’t know because I know he’s a good person, maybe the best person I know. I just don’t know if I can trust him in this relationship.
TL,DR: my boyfriend searches his ex and other girls on facebook and lied to me about how he knew a girl and the circumstances they were hanging out under. I’ve known these things but trust him anyway. Then he called me jealous out of nowhere. Should I trust him?

I run a local entertainment business featuring 15 racing simulators where people can enjoy a fun evening with friends or organize team-building events.
We allocate a monthly budget of €2K to both Google and Facebook ads, but we've encountered a challenge with measuring the performance of our Facebook ads.
Here's the issue: Our Facebook ads seem to be driving significant traffic, but these visitors aren't directly converting through the ad link. Instead, they seem to be making reservations by searching us up on Google after planning with friends. As a result, these conversions are showing up as organic in Google Analytics, making it difficult to attribute them accurately to our Facebook campaigns.
Our Facebook ads are optimized for link clicks, but I feel like there must be a better way to measure and optimize for performance given our unique conversion path.

I (29F NT) am extremely neurotypical and emotionally/mentally/financially stable. I’ve been struggling with my fiancé (31M dx rx) for a long time, and could really use some tailored words of wisdom. Lurking this subreddit/community has been so incredibly validating and helpful as I navigate this overwhelming journey… 2 years into our relationship and I feel like I’m at my breaking point. I doubt whether he’s capable of changing fast enough, I’m not sure I want this for my life anymore. Things will only get harder as we age and kids are thrown in the mix…
The past year has been soul-crushing, I’m a shell of the person I used to be. I’ve self-isolated from friends, had depressive episodes (never had that before), gained an excessive amount of weight, am frequently paranoid and anxious (never had anxiety before). I just never have long-lasting peace, it has destroyed my mental health. Before all this, I was eager to get engaged/married while he was nervous and wanted to take it slow. Now things have flip-flopped: he proposed far earlier than I thought he would, and I’m hitting the breaks uncertain of our future when I’m supposed to be planning a wedding (I refuse to until I see long-term/consistent improvement from him).
I can say that thankfully, my fiancé is not on the extreme end of ADHD. He doesn’t struggle holding a job, he isn’t a slob, he doesn’t shut down sexually, etc. He was diagnosed with ADD (so inattentive ADHD) when he was 18, and has been taking Adderall since. He does not take as much as he is prescribed, which I’ve questioned and he brushed off. We have gotten into heated, and ridiculous, arguments since early-on in our relationship.
Fall last year I unintentionally stumbled upon the emotional dysregulation aspect of ADHD. I was watching reels on Facebook, and in one a woman started by saying “If your partner has ADHD, watch this.” I continued watching, and 5-10 seconds later she mentioned in passing how they have problems with emotional regulation. I was immediately floored and replayed the video to make sure I heard it correctly. I Googled it and, low and behold: there was article after article about this. I read bullet point after bullet point of the manifestations of ADHD, and I couldn’t believe how it described exactly what I had been dealing with for nearly a year and a half.
My entire life I thought ADHD just meant someone had more difficulty focusing or they were hyperactive. This is what most of [uninformed] society thinks, and also what my fiancé himself thought. Over a 12+ year period since being diagnosed, not a single doctor or psychiatrist ever once mentioned the emotional dysregulation aspect of ADHD to my fiancé. He had no idea! Previously, I had chalked up our problems to political differences and that for his entire 20s he was always around (and dated) people very different from me. So I thought he just had trouble adjusting away from judgmental worldviews he had adopted while being surrounded by like-minded people for so long.
The discovery of emotional dysregulation and RSD was ground-breaking for us. He had been starting to think I was the problem since he “didn’t have these problems in my previous relationships.” Well that’s because he always dated less-mentally-stable people (his most recent girlfriend was diagnosed bipolar), so by comparison he was always the more stable one in the relationship and the magnifying glass was pointed away from him. Making the link between our problems and his ADHD made it tangible in a way that he could understand, which provided a foundation for his growth and improvements to begin (alongside therapy). But it’s very difficult for a 30+ year old man with a brain disorder to unlearn bad habits he was fully unaware of & learn how to retrain his brain to process information in a healthy way…
My fiancé has externalized RSD - he becomes highly reactive and verbally aggressive. He is hypersensitive, his brain distorts reality and interprets innocuous questions/statements like “did you put water in the soap dispenser” or “that’s a lot of cereal” as personal attacks. He also has a very big problem not respecting certain differences in opinion we have, or not respecting my choice to not eat/do certain things - he will push and push and push and push, will not stop pushing even after I calmly & nicely asked him to stop dozens of times after dozens of arguments, will not stop even after I’m sobbing begging him to please stop with tears streaming down my face. What are these explosive arguments about? The most mundane, inconsequential things. I wish this was made-up: HOV lanes, me not wanting to eat salad, me not wanting to eat warm guac, me not wanting to eat mustard, me not wanting to try Adderall or coke, me having a different view/opinion on how we should heat up a frozen pizza, me not wanting to eat mushrooms because they make me sick, etc etc.
Every single time we have an explosive argument, he pushes and pushes and pushes. When I reiterate, for the 100th time, that I have autonomy over my own body and don’t need to do anything I don’t want to do, he tries to manipulate me by flipping the script and parroting words/phrases I’ve used in previous discussions (like saying I’m being “disrespectful” and “dismissive” of his feelings/opinions because I won’t do what he wants me to do). Only once he calms down does he realize how badly he effed-up, profusely apologizes, and promises to never do it again and that he’s capable of being better… But then he just does it again and again and again and again and again and AGAIN.
He tries to play the victim and come off as reasonable by saying that he’s just “trying to understand” me by asking questions. I told him that is a cop-out because after I’ve explained how I feel, he ignores it since it doesn’t make sense to him & doesn’t line up with what he thinks/believes, and instead he continues pushing/pressuring me.
More recently he also claims that he isn’t trying to pressure me to do anything TO MYSELF, he’s just sharing his own experiences and thoughts with me so I can understand him better. When you repetitively “share your experiences/thoughts” on XYZ after I made it clear dozens of times that I don’t want to do XYZ and to please stop pressuring me to, even if you don’t explicitly state “You should try XYZ,” you are still INDIRECTLY pushing/pressuring me.
I. am. SO TIRED. Resentment has been growing, I’m paranoid and anxious, I don’t trust him (because he has repeatedly lied to me), his substance use (alcohol and weed) has become less and less attractive. He claimed a long time ago that I’m obsessed with being right, but he’s just projecting - he’s the one obsessed with “being right.” While he loves how I do all the paperwork-related “adult” part of life, he gets really annoyed that I’m almost always ‘right’ about things while he is not - so he takes it out on me.
Things have gotten to the point of reactive abuse, which I warned him about a few months into our relationship (at the time I didn’t know the term, just the concept). I’m having such a hard time making my mind up on where to go from here. When things are good, they are so good. He is a genuine person and a good man, we have SO much love for each other. We share many laughs and have built a life together. But… his brain is plagued with a disorder (that he was not fully informed on & did not begin attempting to manage until 6 months ago) that breaks me down.
While he has improved since the ADHD link was discovered and he started therapy, he continues slipping up and defaulting back to his regular BS. I don’t think I can take it anymore. I don’t want to waste more years of my life, or end up trapped in a marriage because of kids… I’m afraid that’s what it will come to, and I’ll be forever mad at myself for sticking around despite the red flags and what I knew about his condition.
BUT… What if it’s possible for him to improve and stop hurting me? Maybe he needs different medication? Maybe there are other communication approaches we can try? Maybe there’s a better kind of ADHD-specific therapy out there (I don’t think his/our current therapist is helping much)?
I know that he has a long way to go, and that I need to focus on healing. What are methods that have worked for you? Is there a better way I can go about looking for a therapist that specializes in adult ADHD & who truly understands it and can help? My fiancé acknowledges and understands that he has a problem, I can see that he is genuinely trying to improve - he wants to be a better person for himself and also be the partner I deserve. He is struggling to make it happen, he wants it SO badly - he doesn’t want to lose me or the life we have together. I just don’t know how much more of this I can take… Please, any advice & support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read.
