2024.06.10 02:19 Affectionate-Cut7581 Author's Review

Quirk Name: Author's Review
Quirk Type: Emitter
Quirk Range: Needs contact
Quirk Description: Upon touching something or someone said target will unfold pages from it like it is a book, within those pages there will be written all about the object, such as history, thoughts, states, properties, and any additional information. The user may also erase or write new things into it, as much like an author reviewing a text whatever is written will reflect in reality no matter if it is a past or present thing.
Weaknesses:
No pulling stuff out of your ass- When trying to insert a seamingly absurd fact about something it will cause a proportional rebound on the user in the same level of the absurdity.
Ex: writring in a stone that at some point it turns into air for no cause at all.
Obs: can be countered by writting up other things that would make the absurd and impossible, possible.
Limitation: No spoilers- The user cannot write or rewrite about things that have yet to happen. Though he can pre arrange some commands.
Weaknesses: Can only be used while touching, the target is fully capable of fighting back, if it is a living being, during the process, rewritring a part may need other parts to rbe rearranged to fit with that one which may result in completely unkown changes to history or reality that would probably instantly kil lthe user from backlash.

2024.06.10 02:04 Lonely_Kitchen_5277 Is a financial planning major worth it?

Hi all,
I am a year ahead on my coursework, so I am entering my 2nd year of college but my junior year of undergrad expected to graduate in Spring 2026. I have to make a decision that I do not feel quite prepared to make yet. I am currently studying to obtain a finance degree but I've had wealth management and financial advising as my top career in the industry for about 2 years now. As of right now, at my university I am doing pre-requisite courses for finance which overlap for the pre-requisite courses for the financial planning program. After this fall semester, there is no longer course overlap so I need to decide on changing majors to financial planning and specializing or staying in the general finance major. The financial planning program at my university has CFP board recognized curriculum, where, upon graduating with that major, I can immediately sit for the CFP exam upon graduating and have exposure to CFP curriculum throughout undergrad. It all sounds great but I need advice on whether I should stick to finance or switch over to financial planning. I am about 95% sure I want to be a financial advisor because of its better work-life balance compared to other areas of finance like IB, PE or corporate finance, I am a people-person, and the financial planning program seems to greatly elevate the chances of starting up successfully in advising. However, I know from talking to financial advisors in the industry that it is extremely difficult to get started, there is high turnover & uncertain compensation especially in those first few years, I also do not want to risk getting stuck doing cold-calls at a firm like Northwestern Mutual--and I feel like a general finance degree gives more of a safety net to get job security in another facet of finance if advising does not work out. Double-majoring to get the best of both worlds is possible, but it would offset my early graduation and it would sting to incur the extra time and cost.
TL;DR
How much of a competitive advantage in hiring/getting opportunities in wealth management is it to sit for the CFP exam early?
Would you recommend a general finance major or a financial planning major? Or double-majoring?

2024.06.10 01:48 kainvictus Day 6 - Kongkiat Laorwong @ Absolute Hair Clinic -1667 grafts

41 Male, 1667 Grafts, Finasteride 7+ years.
I booked back in January with Dr. Laorwong @ Absolute Hair Clinic.
I stayed at Cascade Hotel and found it to be a very pleasant experience. The food was very good and I loved that I could easily walk to the clinic. The staff was extremely nice, and very familiar with Absolute Hair Clinic clients.
Pre Op Appointment/Hairline Design : Initially I just wanted to see what he would do without any input from myself. I felt it was actually very close to what I had in mind. I showed him a picture of my Hairline from back in the day and he proceeded to make micro adjustments and measurements. To be honest, its a little nerve racking. You have this dark black outline that obviously doesn't look natural- because its marker but I just had to remind myself that it will look a lot different and to trust the process. Dr. Laorwong was a good sport, and very easy to talk to - answering any questions I had. I initially wanted to go with Shaved FUE but I got self conscious and decided to go with No Shave. Dr. Laorwong assured me there would be no problem achieving maximum results.
Day of Op : Initially I was suppose to have the procedure at 2pm, but his first client was a no show, so he asked me if I was available that morning. I thought great, I get to go first with a fresh crew so I was quite happy to head on down. After establishing the final hairline design we buzzed the donor and headed into the OR room for extractions. This was probably the worst part of the procedure. It wasn't TOO bad but yeah, getting jabbed with a needle over and over again to numb your head is not exactly fun. They do cold compress and use a massage gun which I thought helped. I was given some valium but to be honest I didn't really feel any of the effects, at least not during the extraction phase. I couldn't see anything going on but the extraction phase seemed primarily done by Dr. Laorwong.
Once we were finished with that it was time for lunch. After lunch we headed back in. This time, I was feeling a little faded. You can kind of tell when the Dr is around because the techs stop talking/joking around. I am pretty sure Dr. Laorwong made all the incisions, and then from there it was mostly techs doing graft placement. Near the end of the OP Dr. Laorwong did some of the final grafts. After that I was all bandaged up and on my way.
Day 1-4 wash and LLLT : I am not sure what sort of post care other clinics do, but I thought this was really great. It really took away any of the guess work with post care during the most important days of the healing process. Unfortunately I could not stay the full 5 days, just 4, but I highly recommend anyone seeing Dr Laorwong to take full advantage of their post care treatment. I really have minimal scabs if any and I attribute that to their post care.
Overall its been a good experience so far. I am still early days of this experiment but I am very excited!

How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?
How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?
Traveling with a 5 year old isn't easy. It can be both daunting and overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be! So How To Travel With A 5 Year Old?

As parents who've traveled around the world with our children since birth, we know how difficult (and rewarding!) this experience can be. We'd like to share what we've learned about family travel – specifically when it comes to traveling with a 5-year-old – so that you too can create memories to last a lifetime.
The juxtaposition of exhaustion from planning every detail versus exhilaration from seeing new places through the eyes of a child is something all families should experience. The challenge lies in finding ways to balance these two opposing forces while keeping everyone safe and happy along the way. Being prepared for anything will go far towards ensuring your well-being as well as making sure your kiddo has the best time possible during your travels.
We'll offer up advice on everything from packing lists and snacks to entertainment options that are sure to keep them busy no matter where you're going or how long you plan on being gone. Whether you're taking a short road trip across town or exploring international destinations by plane, train, or boat - there's lots of information here that will help ease any worries and leave more room for fun! So let's get started…
Preparing For The Trip
Traveling with kids can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Planning ahead is key for any successful family vacation and will help ensure that everyone has an enjoyable time. When planning a trip with a five-year-old, there are several important things you should consider to make the experience as stress-free and fun as possible.
Before your departure, research your destination so you know what activities or attractions would best suit your child's age and interests. This will give you ideas of where to go and what to do while traveling with your little one. You may even want to look into kid-friendly restaurants or other accommodations available at your destination. It’s also wise to pack plenty of snacks and drinks, as well as toys or books they like - this way they won’t get bored during long car rides or plane trips!
Finally, when preparing for the journey, don’t forget about safety – both on land and in water. Make sure all necessary paperwork such as passports or birth certificates is up-to-date before the trip begins! Be sure to bring along appropriate swimwear (for swimming pools/beaches) and life jackets if necessary - especially if visiting oceans or lakes. Taking these precautionary steps will ensure that both parents and children feel comfortable throughout their travels together!
Choosing The Right Destination
When planning a trip with your 5-year-old, choosing the right destination is key. It's important to consider what activities they'll enjoy and whether they’re suitable for their age. To ensure everyone has an enjoyable time, think about destinations that have plenty of attractions tailored specifically toward kids. If you choose wisely, it could be one of the most memorable trips ever!
One way to select the perfect location is by looking at travel reviews from families who've already been there. They can provide detailed insights into how accommodating different places are for young children. Reading these will help you make more informed decisions on which sites are worth visiting and where to stay. This can save you lots of hassle when traveling with a 5 year old in tow!
It's also wise to research if any museums or other educational facilities offer special programs for kids. These typically involve interactive stories told through playtime activities such as puppet shows, crafts, and games. Learning about history in this manner can really capture a child's imagination- and yours too! Allowing them to explore a new place while having fun makes getting away even more worthwhile.
No matter where you decide to go, just remember that creating amazing family memories should always come first! A well-thought-out plan combined with carefree moments spent together will guarantee unforgettable experiences along the way - something both parents and children alike will treasure forever.
Packing Essentials For A 5-Year-Old
Traveling with a 5-year-old can seem like an intimidating task, but it doesn't have to be. With the right packing essentials and planning ahead of time, you can make sure your mini traveler stays happy throughout the journey.
The first thing to consider is comfort — remember that even if you're only traveling for a short period of time, kids still need their creature comforts from home. Here's what should always go in your little one's bag:
A favorite stuffed animal or blanket
A change of clothes
Snacks tailored to their tastes
Something fun (like books or games) to keep them occupied during long trips
TipsBuy a new Toy, especially for the trip, and revealed it just after Boarding the aircraft to gain 30 minutes of distraction during the most stressful phase of the flight.
It's also important not to forget about yourself! Make sure you bring items for your own comfort too so that you won't be distracted by discomfort while on the road. This will help ensure a smooth trip overall and make sure everyone enjoys themselves. At the end of the day, travel with a 5-year-old requires planning, patience, and understanding – three things that every family needs when hitting the open road together. With these tips in mind and some extra preparation before embarking on your adventure, even the most novice traveler will find success when exploring as a family unit.
Keeping Kids Occupied During Travel
Traveling with a 5-year-old can be an adventure - and it brings its own unique challenges. One of the biggest ones involves how to keep them occupied during travel, whether that's in a car or on a plane. Thankfully, there are some great strategies you can use to ensure your child stays entertained while they're en route to their destination.
ActivitySupplies NeededColoring/Activity BooksCrayons/Markers / Stickers/StampsStorytelling GamesPaper & Pencils for Drawing PicturesWord Puzzles & QuizzesNotepad for Writing Answers Down
To start off, coloring books, activity books, stickers, stamps, and crayons or markers provide hours of fun for kids (and parents!) alike. Additionally, storytelling games like playing "I Spy" or creating stories together can be very enjoyable not only for children but also for adults who may find themselves reminiscing about their own childhood days. Even something as simple as word puzzles or quizzes can help pass the time quickly - all you need is a notepad and pencil to write down any answers!
When traveling with small children, it’s important to remember that everyone has different needs when it comes to entertainment. Some may prefer more active activities such as drawing pictures or building block towers while others might enjoy quieter pursuits such as reading books or listening to audiobooks. Regardless of what type of activity works best for your family dynamic, the goal should always be to make sure everyone is having a positive experience overall. Taking into account these tips will make traveling with a 5 year old much smoother and more enjoyable!
Tips For Long Road Trips
Long road trips with a five-year-old can be an adventure, but it also requires some planning. Here are some tips to keep your family's journey smooth and enjoyable for everyone involved:
Pack plenty of snacks, drinks, and activities that will keep them entertained during the drive.
Take frequent breaks along the way - stops at parks or rest areas allow them to stretch their legs and get out all that extra energy.
Bring books, coloring pages, or other activities they can use in the car if you're stuck in traffic or waiting times. It'll help pass the time more quickly!
Invest in a tablet loaded with movies, TV shows, or educational games they can play while on the go. This helps make long drives much less stressful for both parent and child alike.
Have fun together - sing songs, tell stories, and create memories as you travel down the highway together!
Remember to take it slow when possible too; there’s no need to rush through any part of this precious experience with your little one. Give yourself permission to savor every moment of quality time spent bonding with each other—you won't regret it! To ensure a stress-free journey from start to finish, bring everything you need so that those inevitable bumps in the road don't turn into major detours from your destination.
Staying Healthy And Safe On Vacation
It's like packing for the ultimate game of survival: you want to make sure your family has everything they need to remain healthy and safe during their travels. Taking a vacation with kids can be an adventure, but it can also bring stress if you don't plan ahead. Here are some tips on how to keep your little ones in good health while away from home:
Pre-Vacation Planning During Vacation Post-Vacation CareGet immunizations up-to-dateBring hand sanitizer & wipesCheck for bed bug bites after returning homePack medications & medical suppliesClean hotel room upon arrivalThrow away used items that may carry germs (towels, pillows)Research any special vaccinations needed at the destinationKeep hydratingWash clothes when back homeVisit a doctor before departureAvoid public pools/lakes without supervisionWatch out for signs of jet lag
Preparation is key! Before leaving, make sure all necessary vaccines or boosters are taken care of - especially if traveling abroad - as well as gather any essential medicines or medical supplies needed. This includes sunscreen and insect repellent – two must-haves when exploring new places! Doing research on what kind of illnesses might be found in certain areas will help inform the kinds of precautions you should take too. Once you arrive at your destination, ensure that everyone washes their hands regularly and uses hand sanitizer often; this is particularly important when visiting unfamiliar places such as museums or amusement parks. It’s also wise to clean surfaces in the hotel room immediately following check-in; many people forget about this step which can lead to bacteria accumulating over time. Lastly, staying hydrated throughout the trip is paramount because dehydration can quickly put a damper on fun activities planned for each day.
When returning from vacation, pay attention to those telltale signs of illness caused by exposure to different environments such as joint pain, fever, rash or stomach issues. Additionally, inspect all luggage carefully upon arriving back home since bed bugs have become increasingly common among travelers these days - yikes! Throw away any items that were used while traveling and wash all clothing pieces thoroughly once inside the house again– no one wants unwanted visitors tagging along post-vacation! Finally, due to possible changes in sleeping patterns experienced while flying between time zones, parents should be mindful of potential side effects associated with jet lag so kids get enough rest until they're adjusted again.
Staying safe and healthy on vacation doesn’t require much effort considering there are plenty of resources available online plus accredited travel agents who specialize in family trips – use them! Knowing what vigilance steps to take prior to departure pays off because nothing beats having peace of mind knowing that everyone stays comfortable and protected during their journey together.
Dealing With Jet Lag
Traveling with a 5 year old can be an exciting experience, but it's not without its challenges. Jet lag is one of them! It doesn't have to ruin your trip though - here are some tips for helping your family cope:
Start adjusting their sleep schedule in the days leading up to your departure. This will make it easier when you arrive at your destination.
Once you’re there, let your little one take short naps during the day and keep them active during the daylight hours as much as possible. This can also help adjust their body clock more quickly.
Avoid sugary snacks or caffeine right before bedtime, which can disrupt their sleep cycle.
By following these simple steps, your kiddo should start feeling better soon after landing in their new time zone. With patience and understanding from everyone involved, jetlag won’t prevent you from having an amazing adventure together!
Making Kids Feel At Home Away From Home
Ah, the joys of traveling with a 5 year old. No matter how much we plan and prepare for our family trip, there's no denying that it can be quite daunting! But let me tell you: if you put in the effort to make sure they feel at home away from home, your little one will thank you later - and so will you!
First things first: pack some familiar items from their bedroom or playroom. This may include favorite toys, books, and blankets - whatever makes them comfortable and helps them settle into unfamiliar surroundings. We often forget about the mundane but necessary things such as nightlights and sound machines too; these are invaluable when it comes to soothing children who don't sleep well on holiday. Don't forget to encourage them to bring along any special souvenirs they've collected over the years too; nothing says 'I'm home' like being surrounded by cherished keepsakes.
Next up are activities: look into what attractions are available nearby that cater specifically towards young travelers – chances are, they'll love exploring new places just as much as adults do (maybe even more!). Activities should be age-appropriate yet still fun enough to keep kids entertained throughout the day. Scheduling regular meals together also ensures everyone stays happy during meal times and builds an atmosphere of familiarity within your group dynamic; something which always feels comforting after a long day out sightseeing.
In short? Traveling with a 5 year old doesn't have to be scary; all it takes is a little bit of planning ahead to ensure that your child knows where they stand in this new place - making sure they feel welcomed, safe, and secure before anything else. With this kind of preparation, your whole family should enjoy a wonderful holiday experience!
Exploring The Local Area With Kids
Once you've arrived at your destination and made the kids feel comfortable in their new environment, it's time to explore! Traveling with a five-year-old can be daunting if you don't know where to start - but fear not. Here are some great tips for exploring the local area with kids:
First of all, plan ahead. Research kid-friendly attractions nearby such as parks or museums before leaving home so that you have an idea of what activities are available once you arrive. Make sure to check opening times and any restrictions on age limits, entry fees, etc., so that everyone is prepared once they hit the ground running.
Secondly, make it fun! Kids learn best when they're having fun - so why not turn your exploration into a game? Set small challenges like finding certain landmarks or collecting interesting items along the way; this will help keep them engaged while also teaching them about their surroundings. Finally, take plenty of breaks throughout the day. Letting your five-year-old rest and refuel regularly will ensure that they stay energized for the whole adventure!
Exploring the local area doesn't have to be stressful; with a little bit of planning and some creative ideas, there's no limit to how much fun you can have together! So take a deep breath and get ready for an unforgettable experience – one that both parent and child won't soon forget.
Building Memories Together On Vacation
Taking a trip with your five-year-old is an exciting adventure that can create lasting memories. It's the perfect time to explore new places and experiences together. To make sure you have a successful vacation, there are some tips for ensuring a great experience for both of you:
First, plan activities ahead of time. Make sure they're age-appropriate and include something each of you will enjoy doing. Don’t forget to research local attractions — museums, theme parks, zoos, etc. — in advance so your child has plenty of options once you arrive at your destination. Consider booking tickets or making reservations beforehand as well; it'll save you from long lines later!
Second, involve your child in the planning process. Let them help choose where to go and what sights to see on the way there. This allows them to take ownership of their vacation and also builds excitement leading up to departure day. Plus, when kids know what to expect each day they feel more secure and engaged throughout the trip.
Finally, be flexible during travel days and while out exploring new places together. Leave room in the schedule for spontaneity since anything can happen when traveling with children — especially young ones! And remember that small moments often become treasured memories down the road — like stopping for ice cream after dinner or taking a detour just because it looks interesting — so don't be afraid to embrace unexpected surprises along the way!
Planning Age-Appropriate Activities
Traveling with a five-year-old can be both rewarding and challenging. Before you go on your family vacation, research age-appropriate activities that will keep your little one engaged while also sparking curiosity in new places. Here are some tips for planning an itinerary full of fun activities for the whole family!
First, plan activities based on what interests your child. For example, if they're into dinosaurs, search for attractions like museums or parks where they'll get to learn about them. Or if they love animals, look for zoos or farms nearby. This way you can make sure everyone enjoys themselves without compromising on quality time together as a family.
Second, consider the physical aspect of activities when choosing things to do on vacation. Five-year-olds have boundless energy and need outlets for it - so opt for things like hiking trails, swimming pools, or playgrounds where they can burn off some steam in a safe environment. You could even plan days at amusement parks or waterparks where they'll explore games and rides tailored specifically to kids their age.
Finally, invest in experiences over material objects during vacations with children this age. That means making memories through interactive exhibits rather than buying souvenirs that may just end up collecting dust at home later on down the road. Your little one will appreciate being able to relive the excitement of these adventures years after the trip has come to an end!
Navigating Different Time Zones
Navigating different time zones within a 5 year old can be tricky, but it doesn't have to ruin your travel experience. The key is to make sure you understand how the time zone shifts will affect them and plan accordingly. First and foremost, try to stay on the same schedule as much as possible throughout your travels. This means that if you are in an area where daylight savings changes occur frequently during the summer months, you should pass this information on to your child so they know when their body clock needs to adjust for these changes.
Second, keep track of what day it is wherever you are - even if it's not the same date at home! Keeping track of which days we had traveled through was a great way for my daughter to recognize our progress while away from home; she felt more connected by knowing just exactly where we were. This gave her security that she won’t get lost or left behind somewhere along the journey – especially important since kids tend to feel insecure in unfamiliar surroundings. It also made her curious about all things new and exciting around us!
Finally, try breaking up long flights into smaller segments whenever possible. If there's no other option than taking a direct flight then break it up mentally by doing activities together like reading books, playing games or watching movies (especially age-appropriate ones!). Explaining the concept of flying across multiple time zones helped her understand why sometimes we arrive at our destination earlier than expected and reassured her that everything else would eventually fall back into place. With a little knowledge and preparation ahead of your trip, navigating different time zones with a 5 year old can be done seamlessly and enhance everyone's overall experience greatly!
Documenting Your Journey Through Photos And Videos
Preserving precious memories of your travels with a five-year-old is easy. With the right tools and techniques, you can document your journey in photos and videos that will last for years to come.
First off, be sure to pack enough memory cards and extra batteries so you’ll never miss an opportunity to capture special moments throughout your trip. This might seem like an obvious tip, but it’s worth repeating! Making sure you have plenty of space available on your camera or phone ensures that each moment is documented without worrying about running out of storage.
Next up – practice patience while shooting pictures and videos with your child. You won't get those perfect shots every time, but don't despair – take lots of different angles and perspectives when capturing images with kids involved; this way you can pick and choose which ones turn out best. Taking the time to place yourself low down at their level often gives the most natural results as well – plus it helps create more meaningful connections between parent and child during photo-taking sessions!
Capture candid memories too – not just posed family portraits! Focus on everyday life experiences along the way: conversations being had around meals, funny faces they make while exploring new places, or even small details like footprints in sand or sunsets reflecting off the water. These small details are what make all the difference when documenting a story from start to finish - these little glimpses into daily life become lasting reminders of how far we've traveled together as a family.
Finding Kid-Friendly Accommodations
When traveling with a 5-year-old, finding the right accommodation can make all the difference. You want to be sure that your little one is comfortable and safe during your trip. Fortunately, there are plenty of kid-friendly accommodations available to choose from.
The first option you may consider is a hotel or resort that caters specifically to families with young children. These establishments typically offer larger rooms equipped with cribs and other amenities for kids such as play areas, swimming pools, and game rooms. Many also provide special activities like arts and crafts classes just for kids, making it easy for parents to relax while their children stay entertained.
Another great way to ensure a family-friendly experience is by booking a Vacation rental. With thousands of properties listed across most major cities in the world, you’re likely to find something suitable for your needs. Not only do these rentals usually come fully furnished but many owners will even supply helpful extras like toys, books, games, and more to keep your child engaged throughout your stay. Plus they often have access to communal spaces where you can meet other travelers who share similar interests - perfect if you're looking for some travel companionship!
Wherever you decide to stay on your next vacation with the kids, remember that having fun together is what matters most! A good night's rest and quality time spent exploring new places makes memories that last a lifetime - so go ahead and get out there!
Post-Vacation Reflection
Traveling with a five-year-old is both an adventure and a challenge, but the rewards are great. Now that our holiday has come to an end, there's much to reflect on about our experience.
The first thing we've realized is that preparation is key for any successful family vacation. We spent time researching destinations, discussing expectations, and packing everything from books to snacks before departure. This helped us avoid surprises during our trip and gave us peace of mind.
We also learned the importance of planning activities in advance. Knowing what activities were available near where we stayed meant no stressful moments trying to figure out what to do next; all we had to do was find something suitable for everyone, including our 5 year old!
As parents, it was wonderful seeing how excited and engaged our daughter became during this journey. She experienced new places, foods, and cultures alongside us - all while broadening her horizons. It made us realize that travel should be a regular part of family life if possible - so it’s already time to start thinking about our next destination!
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is The Best Way To Keep My 5 Year Old Entertained During A Flight?
Traveling with a five-year-old can be quite a challenge! You want your little one to have an enjoyable experience, but being stuck on a plane for hours isn't always fun. So how do you ensure that your trip is pleasant and entertaining? The answer lies in finding the best way to keep your five-year-old entertained during a flight.
When it comes to keeping a five-year-old occupied midair, there are lots of great ideas out there! From coloring books and puzzles to podcasts and movies, there’s no shortage of options. One thing I highly recommend is making sure they bring their own backpack full of goodies. This will give them something to explore while also providing them with the opportunity to choose what activities they'd like to participate in throughout the journey.
Another important tip when traveling with children is planning ahead. Try researching different games or activities that might work well during long flights so you're prepared before take off. If possible, download some shows or games onto your device - this will help avoid any buffering issues due to spotty internet connection. Additionally, break up the time by having snack breaks or walking around if allowed on board – anything that keeps them engaged and stimulated during those long hours of travel!
It's key to remember that every child is unique and may require different kinds of activities depending on their age group and interests. With proper preparation and creative thinking, though, parents can make flying with their kids as stress-free as possible; allowing everyone involved to truly enjoy the adventure together!
How Can I Keep My 5 Year Old Safe When Visiting A New Destination?
When travelling to a new destination, safety is of utmost importance for any family. For those with young children, this means being extra vigilant and taking steps to ensure their child's safety in an unfamiliar place. When it comes to five-year-olds, parents must be particularly mindful about the risks associated with visiting a new location - from simple things like crossing roads safely to more complex challenges such as communicating language barriers. But there are ways that families can protect their kids while still enjoying their holiday experience.
One way to make sure your 5 year old is safe during travel is by researching the destination ahead of time. Make sure you know the local customs and laws so you can do all you can to prevent any potential hazards they may encounter at your chosen destination. Talk to your child before leaving home and explain what kind of behaviour is expected when out and about in public, especially if you’re going somewhere where English isn't widely spoken. It’s also important to stay aware of your surroundings – always keep a close eye on your little one or designate someone else who will look after them whilst you explore other areas.
For added peace of mind, check whether the hotels or accommodation options have age restrictions for each room type that would apply to your child; some places don't allow unaccompanied minors under certain ages into specific rooms or facilities – not only for legal reasons but for practical ones too (such as pool access). You should also take into consideration how far away attractions are from where you're staying - long journeys could become tiring very quickly! The last thing anyone wants is an exhausted 5 year old running around in unfamiliar territory! Ultimately, planning ahead and doing research can save stress throughout the journey and help create lasting memories that everyone can treasure forever.
By following these simple tips, families with young children will feel safer venturing off into unknown lands together knowing they have taken every precaution necessary – allowing both adults and kids alike to have fun without worrying about unnecessary danger looming over them like a cloud!
What Are Some Tips For Preventing Jet Lag In A 5 Year Old?
Traveling with young kids can be an exciting and rewarding experience, but it comes with its own set of challenges. A big one is dealing with jet lag in a 5 year old. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your family travel adventures:
Have them adjust their sleep schedule before traveling by going to bed 15 minutes earlier each night for 6-7 days prior to departure.
During the flight, have them wear loose clothes and encourage naps if possible. Give them snacks throughout the day that are high in protein such as nuts or hummus instead of sugar filled treats like candy bars.
Try not to plan too many activities when you first arrive at your destination; allow everyone time for rest so they can acclimate more easily to the new environment.
These strategies will help ensure that your little ones - and you! - don't suffer from jet lag while on vacation. You'll want your family trip to be fun, memorable, and stress free so follow these tips and make sure your whole crew arrives feeling rested and ready for adventure. Keeping up with these guidelines will also provide parents with peace of mind knowing their children are well taken care of during long trips. With all this in mind, you're now equipped to tackle jet lag head-on!
What Should I Do If My 5 Year Old Gets Homesick When Traveling?
Traveling with children can be a challenge, and when kids are young it’s especially difficult. For parents that have to travel with a 5 year old, dealing with homesickness may be one of the biggest obstacles they face. Fortunately, there are ways to manage this inevitable emotion so your child has an enjoyable trip!
First off, it's important to remember that homesickness is normal and expected –everyone experiences it at some point in their lives and it doesn't mean anything is wrong. To help make sure your little one feels comfortable while on vacation, here are four tips:
Comfort objects: Pack something from home like a stuffed animal or blanket that will remind them of home and provide comfort during unfamiliar situations.
Talk about home: Letting your child talk about what they miss back home will often reduce feelings of being overwhelmed by everything new around them.
Keep routines consistent: If possible try to keep as many familiar routines intact (bedtime stories for example) as these moments of familiarity can go a long way in helping your child feel more secure away from home.
Show patience and understanding: Homesickness usually passes quickly if you pay attention to how your child is feeling without overreacting or worrying too much yourself; they should sense that you understand their emotional needs before any other concerns come into play.
It’s also helpful to plan activities ahead of time such as museums, parks, playgrounds etc., and involve your 5 year old when planning out the itinerary so they have something exciting to look forward to each day - this will take their mind off missing home for awhile! Be sure not to overwhelm them however; having too many attractions packed into one day could result in exhaustion which won't do anyone any favors!
At the end of the day though, sometimes all it takes is a hug from mom or dad (or both!) for those feelings of homesickness to disappear completely- no matter where you are in the world! With just a bit of extra preparation, traveling with your five year old should still be full of fun memories rather than ones filled with sadness due to being away from home.
What Are Some Activities I Can Do With My 5 Year Old That Are Both Age-Appropriate And Fun?
Traveling with a 5 year old can be both an exciting and challenging experience. To ensure that the journey is enjoyable for everyone, it’s important to plan activities that are both age-appropriate and fun for your young traveler. So what kind of activities should you do?
Take nature walks – A great way to get outside and explore! Nature walks provide lots of opportunities for learning about the environment, spotting wildlife, and discovering new things. Plus, they're easy on the budget too. Pack some snacks or even a lunch so you can make a day out of it.
Visit museums - A visit to a museum can be an educational adventure full of discovery and exploration. Many museums offer interactive exhibits tailored specifically towards children which makes them ideal places to spend quality time together while learning something new. You may even find special programs geared toward younger kids like story times or craft classes.
Check out local attractions - Whether it's going on a ride at an amusement park or exploring a nearby landmark such as a cave or aquarium, there's no shortage of interesting things to do in most cities around the world. The best part is many attractions offer discounts or free admission days making them more affordable than ever before. And don't forget all those photo ops along the way!
No matter where life takes you and your little one, there are plenty of ways to keep them entertained while also having meaningful experiences during your travels together. From nature walks to visiting local attractions, these activities will let your child discover their world in an age-appropriate manner without sacrificing any fun!
Conclusion
Traveling with a five year old can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. With just a bit of planning and organization, you can make the experience both safe and fun for your little one! From selecting age-appropriate activities to finding ways to prevent jet lag, there are plenty of strategies that will ensure your family vacation is nothing short of amazing – so incredible you'll think time itself stopped as soon as you stepped off the plane.
The best part about traveling with kids? Seeing their eyes light up when they try something new or discover a place for the first time. It's truly magical! And if your five year old does get homesick or overwhelmed during your travels, don't forget: from unexpected detours on the way home to packing extra snacks in case of emergencies, being prepared is key for any parent who wants an unforgettable adventure.
So what are you waiting for? Grab your suitcase and pack those bags – it's time to show your adventurous little traveler how exciting the world outside can be! After all, life is too short not to explore…so let’s go see what this big beautiful planet has in store!

2024.06.10 01:31 Matt7ian I’VE STARTED GETTING RESULTS

(Please be mindful as this is my first post on this subreddit and on Reddit in general, all I do on this app is browse. Also I am rewriting and reposting this as I had accidentally posted my first draft without finishing what I was trying to say!!)
This is pretty long so I’ll put a TL:DR here
I was struggling with pain for a month and am currently overweight, saw Embarrassed-Tip-4749 post a few days ago on how they got results in 11 days and I was desperate, and now after 2 days of trying their method, I am now pain free and lost a little bit of weight!!
A couple days ago, this redditor (Embarrassed-Tip-4749) had posted on here saying how they had gotten results almost immediately after changing up their mindset, the way they listened to subliminals and the subliminals used.
I’ve been listening to subliminals for damn near a decade with minimal to no results, and I want to chalk that up to bad mindset, inconsistent listening, changing my playlist every other week, and just not having enough information with how I should be navigating this.
I’m here now because I followed a majority of what Embarrassed-Tip-4749 had explained and what had gotten them results so quickly.
So to explain my situation now, I’m was in pain, overweight (211 lbs), and damn near pre-diabetic (Thanks to my dads side of the family) ALONG WITH staying and living with mentally and emotionally abusive parents who still treat me like a child and a slave (I’m over 20). I’m taking loans and going to community college and have no job (I’m applying everywhere but none are reaching out to me, including fast food restaurants).
At the moment, I’m eyeing for the military (Air Force) but my dog had chewed up my passport when my mom had carelessly left it out so I’m in a bit of a huge pickle right now trying to renew it.
I’ve tried the military back in 2022 (Navy) but was separated due to injuries and was told to try again after 6 months. I’m healed now, but there is a problem with my hip.
For the past month I’ve had nothing but horrible pain on my right hip, to the point where it was difficult getting off of bed, standing up from a chair, and even just walking. And with wanting to go back to the military, I knew they would find something that’ll disqualify me and have me stay with my parents.
I tried my approach with subliminals again, ones for weight loss, good health and free of pain, and I was seeing results, but very slow and not too noticeable results that entire week.
The pain was still there, but I could walk a bit freely without feeling anything, but standing up from a chair or getting up from my bed was still a struggle.
I did lose weight, not a lot, but just 3 pounds that week.
I’ve tried meditating, but would always get distracted, I’ve tried SATS, but with how busy my day goes with school, taking care of my brothers, job applications and interviews and dealing with my parents, I sometimes forget to do it and just immediately fall asleep, I do my best with LOA every morning but I’ve been losing motivation because I haven’t been getting any results from that no matter how consistent I try to be.
I want to add that I’m in a much better mindset and emotional state than in my past because of how desperate I want to leave and live my own life away from my parents. I am happier, and now have something to look forward to. I try my best to not let my parents get to me because I know once I’m away, my life will be a whole lot better than what it is now.
And when I saw Embarrassed-Tip-4749’s post. I got desperate.
I followed through with everything but making my own subliminal and listening to their playlist (I had my own).
I felt like I was in a pretty good mindset, and with this routine of listening to all of those subliminals, the detachment along with focusing on them would help me.
And MY GOSH guys, IT TOOK 2 DAYS. 2 DAYS!!! I HAVE NO MORE PAIN IN MY HIP. I FEEL A LOT MORE ENERGIZED. AND IVE LOST 3 POUNDS.
I’m honestly crying right now, the feeling of being able to sit and lay down and get up without suffering is such a miracle to me right now.
For a month I’ve felt nothing but pain, pain I thought would never go away, pain I thought would pause my life, pain that felt like it’s been with me for YEARS.
And now it’s just GONE!!
When I tell you how GRATEFUL I am for Embarrassed-Tip-4749 because they had literally changed my life with their method. And I see a lot more hope with changing my life than before!!
I’m now going to add more in my playlist for attracting money and getting accepted to a job so that I’m able to pay for a new passport, preparing supplies for bootcamp (I’m going to a recruiters once I reach my weight in the 100’s), and paying for a new phone and phone bill.
I’m starting to get my documents in order because I just want to be prepared. My parents have made me financially dependent on them and I want to stop that.
All this just feels so surreal and it feels like I’m taking my next step for a new chapter in my life.
Thank you all for reading this far, and knowing my story. I hope I bring just as much motivation for you as what Embarrassed-Tip-4749 did for me.
And if anyone has any recommendations for attracting money subliminals please let me know!!

2024.06.10 01:28 Brydaro School of the Wild, First Draft

I’ve been working to design a Blue Mage inspired subclass for 5e. I ended mixing a bit of Dungeon Meshi in as well. Unfortunately, it doesn’t involve eating. It is a Wizard subclass.
When you choose this subclass at second level, you gain the Blade Ward cantrip. It does not count against your cantrips known. When cast within 10’ of an enemy, you gain temporary hit points equal to your intelligence modifier and proficiency bonus combined.
If you take damage while the spell is active, you may Learn the structure of the Action or relevant Ability, and may remember it for the Imbue feature.
You may remember a number of features equal to your Intelligence Modifier until you complete a long rest.
If you Learn more features than you can remember, the earliest one is forgotten.
At second level, the Wizard may choose two features from the Rote Imbuements list. These do not count against the daily allowance granted by the Field Work feature and are always remembered. The wizard chooses an additional Imbuement to gain from the Rote Imbuements list at 6th, 10th and 14th levels.
As a bonus action, the wizard may use a spell slot to Imbue an ally creature with a Learned feature. That ally gains temporary hit points equal to twice the level of the spell slot used and a feature the wizard has Learned for one minute.
The save DC or attack roll for this feature gains a bonus equal to the level of the spell slot used.
At 6th level, you gain the Absorb Elements spell. It is always prepared. This does not count against your spells known, nor your spells prepared. If you already knew Absorb Elements, you can gain one first level spell of your choice from the Wizard spell list instead.
When Absorb Elements is used to reduce damage from an Attack or Ability used by an enemy with 10’ of you, you gain temporary hit points equal to your Intellgence Modifier + your proficiency bonus.
You may Learn the triggering attack or ability.
Furthermore, you can give an ally the bonus damage granted by the spell.
Starting at 10th level, the temporary hit points you gain from Field Work and Advanced Field Work gain a bonus equal to your Constitution modifier.
At 14th level, a digit of the wizard’s choosing becomes gnarled and withered. It loses sensation, but still acts as a normal digit. Detect magic reveals transmutation magic radiating from the digit, and it is considered a cursed item. If it is destroyed, it regrows in 1d4 days. This time can be reduce by one day by consuming a raw chicken heart.
The wizard gains the Flesh to Stone spell. It is always prepared and does not count against spells known or prepared. It can be cast using this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency modifier per long rest or with a spell slot of 6th level or higher.
If cast using this feature, it has a range of touch. If the target is of a CR equal to or less than half your Wizard level, the spell save DC increases by your Constitution modifier and does not require concentration.
The wizard can end the effect at any point, and if the wizard’s finger is destroyed, the effect ends.
Two Headed, as Ettin
Stench, as Ghast. DC = 8 + Ally Con mod + Wizard proficiency bonus
Grasping Tendril, Ally sprouts a tentacle. (AC = Wizard Level, HP = Half Ally Con Score) It can be used to make an unarmed melee attack. Targets struck are grappled. As an action, the target may attempt to escape, DC = 8 + Ally’s Strength Mod + Wizard’s proficiency bonus
Wild Movement, wizard chooses flight, climb, or swim speed. As a bonus action, the ally may move half its move speed as flight, climbing, or swimming; ending at the end of their turn.
Wild Fortitude, as Boar. Damage threshold is equal to half of Ally’s HP
Magical Investiture, target gains a cantrip the wizard knows to cast at will. It’s casting modifier is Constitution. It’s spell save DC is equal to 8 + ally con mod + Wizard’s proficiency bonus.
Jiggly Body, The Wizard chooses Bludgeoning, Piercing, or Slashing damage. The Ally gains resistance to that damage type.
Third Arm, The Ally sprouts a third arm. It can interact with objects and wield weapons or a shield. It is subject to Two Weapon Fighting rules.
Regeneration, as troll. Healing = half wizard level, rounded up.
Quills, Ally sprouts rigid quills. Their AC increases by 1 and they deal their character level, rounded up, in piercing damage to attackers that miss.
TL;DR: use modified spells to take damage, steal features from monsters, give them to your buddies. At the end, get an evil claw that petrifies.

2024.06.10 01:24 arlauwu_ Help with accidental transphobia

for context, I'm a trans woman DMing for an all lgbtq+ party.
In the last session, the players found a lost red tiefling civilization, and red tieflings were established to never be seen. One of the rulers, referred to as "the Arcanister" is a blue male tiefling. The Arcanister is the only member of the civilization with contact with the outside world, and since being red would create too much undesired attention, he true poly-ed himself to be blue. Him being blue was also a hint for the background of a purple tiefling NPC (red + blue = purple). The party cast detect magic and sensed a transmutation aura coming from the Arcanister.
Later, the party theorized about him possibly being a trans man, and I immediately canonized the idea since I saw no harm and that wouldn't affect the lore in any way. During a conversation between him and the party, the PC of a transfem player cast dispel magic on him, which revealed he was a red tiefling and, since I just decided he is trans, also reverted him to pre-transition (in this case, pre true poly).
Seeing she just detransitioned a NPC made her feel really bad, to the point she had to leave the space we were playing and breath a little. After talking to her, I understood that she was triggered and I retconed the casting of dispell magic, but the damage was already done.
Furthermore, at session 0, I said one of the things I would not do under any circumstance is torture, and she believes that rule was broken (in my mind, he could just cast true poly again and be fine). What should I've done and what can I do now?
TL;DR: the party theorized about a NPC who was secretly under true-poly being trans, and I made it canon without them knowing. A PC played by a transfem cast dispell magic on the NPC, revealing his detransitioned original form. The player got very sad about the situation and was not well to talk about it and suggested I asked for help here

2024.06.10 01:08 SmileJamaica23 Just venting I’m all over the place repeating myself in some talking points but just frustrated living like this. And people that don’t know how I feel always make judgements and assumptions that are not true

Kinda Anxious Feeling like What's The Purpose Of Living Sometimes.
Like Just Life People Is Not As Compassionate of someone with differences
As I feel Like Someone in my Position I Would Emphasize and try to understand
And not make Judgements because I'm not in their position
Just I'm Trying Not to Commit Suicide
I'm trying because the Thought is always in the back of my head through the Day
Like People Don't understand Which is understandable since they not on my Two feet
They are Not JaMarcus So They wouldn't Understand JaMarcus Perspective
Just Im Trying to Survive In A World Where I feel I should Die
I'm trying To Cope
Found Working out at home as a good coping mechanism
Mentally and physically
Only last a Hour post workout but really helps my anxiety temporarily
And helps me cope because everyday I wake up and wonder why
People Make me feel like I should Die
Constantly hear you are a burden
Or you are not good enough
I feel like I don't have any talents
And if I did have talents it's limited due to my Agoraphobia and Social Anxiety
and Panic Attacks Generalized Anxiety and Bipolar disorder I have
Feel like Capitalism kinda brutal
If you have a Disability which this issue is disabling
Makes me really sad
Just take the advice of my therapist and try not to dwell on it
Because if I do I probably wouldn't be alive right now . So I try to watch movies or listen to music
Or workout when I feel like that
Doesn't get rid of the feeling of not wanting to live
But it distracts me
Working out definitely does
It just my workout equipment really helps me
It's like having a support animal
Just feel like I'm not ready for a Service Animal or Support animal
I have difficulty leaving my house
And that wouldn't be fair to a animal if I couldn't take them outside to urinate or defecate
So I'm trying to wait until my condition improves so I can maintain another animal
Plus I live alone and don't have a wife or anything that would watch my Animal if I could not do it
Which Is not their responsibility it's mine since it's my animal
So working out at home really helps
I be scared of what my neighbors think
Because I literally tip-toe around my house which is not normal
Because I be scared I'm disturbing the neighbors
Even when I work out I have Silencer Pads that literally absorbed the vibration and sound of my weights
And I don't even drop my weights like a lot of people do
I don't Deadlift I only do bent over rows
And I gently put the weights on my silencer pads
When I lift dumbbells I don't drop my dumbbells on the floor
I gently put them down on my silencing pads
I squat lightly
I ride my cardio bike quietly
I bench press quietly
Just be scared my neighbors would complain
Even though I'm very gentle
And tip toe literally around my house
Because I be scared
I don't even play loud music
Like I have a neighbor that does play loud music
But he doesn't bother me
But I gently have on my noise cancelling headphones
But I'm scared because July 4th is coming up
And fireworks and Gunshots
I get nightmares and bad anxiety
Flashbacks of being shot at by my dad
Some of these fireworks now sounds almost like a gunshot but not quite
A gunshot you feel vibrations a gun has more velocity and force
And loud its scary
Especially them big guns I used to hear in Adamsville
Just I be feeling like I don't deserve to live
Because people make me feel guilty and I didn't ask to have bad anxiety
Got worse after getting shot at and other experiences that happened in my life.
Like People don't understand this just don't effects me Financially and employment wise
It also effects me interpersonally and romantically and recreationally even sexually
I can't even orgasm from sex regardless of how good the Woman feels.
And sometimes I have Erectile issues because of my anxiety
Like I'm limited to just dating apps and social media
Which I rarely be on because of my anxiety..
But people especially Extroverts don't really understand
Because they like people and stuff
Like Wendy Williams Famous Gossiper
Extroverts love crowds they love people
They love parties the more people the more energetic they get
Like when I tried to play Football 🏈 and Basketball 🏀
I quit though regardless of my talent
And basketball I couldn't get the play structure.
Because basketball plays keep going on until someone shoots the ball
Atleast at School level
And my anxiety and Stuff makes it hard to get the plays
And organized basketball is not freestyle like I played at home
Which I was good 1 on 1 or 1 on 2.
I'll quit the basketball or football 🏈 team before the season starts...
Because of the agoraphobia and my Generalized Anxiety
Like Royce White he difficulty riding airplanes which they do in the NBA automatically due to schedule
He couldn't continue A NBA career because of that
Just in practice
Like I relate To Kobe Bryant
I'm not All the way Personality Wise like Kobe Bryant
But Similarities
Like Teammates had a problem with me
Because I didn't go to social gatherings and get pizza and stuff
After practices and scrimmages
Like due to my anxiety I was feeling in practices
I had good practices performance wise if it didn't involve running plays
But they didn't understand
But Teammates always had a problem with me
Call me Stuck Up Arrogant and all kinds of stuff
During the school day
Because my teammates were extroverted like
They like to talk and hangout after practice
And talk in the locker room
And I would immediately go home after practice
Because of my anxiety I was feeling
People don't understand I was having headaches and etc
Because I couldn't go but people get mad
Because they don't understand why I stay in my house
Like People online They extroverts
I attract extroverts
I'm already I guess introverted
Due to My agoraphobia and Generalized Anxiety and panic attacks I get
Just Shaquille O'Neal was More of A Extroverted Guy
I'm assuming Kobe Bryant was More introverted
Especially After The Incident in 2002-2003 probably became more introverted
But Shaq didn't understand
Because he is a extroverted he likes making people laugh being in public places and stuff
That's the part I relate to Kobe Bryant on
Just People don't understand people online get mad because I don't call or text them
Even extroverted family members
They take it so personal if I don't call
They don't understand what it's like to have Agoraphobia and Social Anxiety and Generalized Anxiety and etc
They don't understand they take it so personal
Like I personally don't like them or something
I have family members dead or alive..that's probably were or is mad at me
Because I didn't call them as much
It's not that I don't like them it's just hard to hold a conversation over the phone
But nobody understand since I'm a rare person
People call you lazy or all kinds of stuff
Because they just can't accept that this issue which Been
Effecting me my whole life
They don't understand because it's not them
They think it's not real or I'm faking It or exaggerating it
But this my life
This causes my depression genetically to get worse
I think being housebound and alone
Without social connections
Would make anyone depressed or even suicidal
Because 2020 I seen people feeling the way I feel in my day to day life
And some people still don't understand
Just I also don't like Georgia Whether Albany or Atlanta
I just don't like Georgia
I have so many bad memories and nightmares in Georgia
I'm never going back
I rather kill myself before I go back there.
Pain emotionally, Racism people Act like Atlanta Georgia doesn't have Racism
But This Is Where Dr King is from
Not as bad as Albany Georgia
But it's there not in the inner city
But all throughout the Suburbs and further
They are there
It's White people in Atlanta Metro as well
They keep acting like Atlanta is this black metropolis
Which is not I'm from Georgia
It's Not!!!
I had prejudiced teachers in the metro Atlanta area
They keep acting like Atlanta is this Extremely progressive place
If that's was the case Why Georgia Atleast In my lifetime there
Was red every election since 1992 because I wasn't born yet in 1992
Until I left in 2020
Even during the Obama years
I remember Georgia going red in 2008 before the night was over
They act like we don't have those people down there
Yeah 2020 it was a battleground
But the Obama years it went red quick
Even in 2016 red a little quicker than 2020
Just not true
Not saying Atlanta is Horrible
But it's very Overrated
It's no different than any other major city
People that are not from Georgia saying this
It makes me very mad kinda trigger me
Makes my blood boil
But it's their opinion doesn't mean it's true
Act like Atlanta doesn't have problems
Like HIV issues
It's a bunch of people that don't even know they are HIV positive in Atlanta . Some people scared to get tested which I understand
I wouldn't recommend prep to everyone unless you are a Sex Worker
Or kinda Impulsive like I am
Trying to make people happy and not make people feel weird
Because I wear condoms
Because some people get offended if I want to wear a condom
So HIV Medicine is kinda hard on the kidneys I take prep
Which is a HIV Medicine not 100% but helps but is hard on the kidneys
Since HIV Medicine is very powerful which it should . because it saved a lot of people lives
But as a person that doesn't have HIV it's hard on the kidneys
But Atlanta has problems It has Poverty I lived in impoverished areas on the West Side and Eastside
Throughout my life
Have family members living paycheck to paycheck
It's just like any other American city living paycheck to paycheck
Majority of the City is named after Mr Ted Turner
Mr Turner Had a baseball field named after him
Just Not saying Atlanta is bad but just overrated
It's no different than any other city
Actually when I moved to Atlanta I first seen Snow ❄️
Because Albany Southwest Georgia where I'm from
It doesn't snow it never snows
Maybe ice but doesn't snow
It rains a lot though in South Georgia
More Prone To Floods
Swampy Coastal Plain
Black Belt Cotton Belt they call it.
But Atlanta has homeless people as well
I remember when I first moved to Atlanta in 2006 I remember seeing
Black homeless people sleepy under bridges
And seeing them in centennial Park
And at the crowded underground Atlanta
And of course the train stations
Because it's warm in the train station
It has AC and Heat on the trains
So I don't blame the homeless
They trying to survive
But I remember seeing that all the time
On my end of Martin Luther King Drive
Remember seeing a church's a Kentucky fried chicken and a new Popeyes
On the same street
But no good quality grocery stores
Just family dollars and low quality grocery stores
That unfortunately doesn't have the resources
That's all I seen
I lived on the Westside of Southwest Atlanta for a long time
Remember being on Simpson road now Joseph E Boone
But remember seeing people smoking crack in broad daylight
Remember Seeing impoverished black people
My mom used to work on Simpson road as a property manager at a apartment complex
So I was over there Alot riding Marta with my mom
And I remember seeing the Georgia dome and centennial Park further down
And it looks so good
Vine city train station
Why where the Georgia dome it looks so good
But just further down Simpson road or Joseph E Boone
I see poverty like night and day
I lived there it's has poverty and homeless actually majority of the homeless is black
Cost of living since people is moving to Atlanta at high rates
Rent went up probably not California or New York level
Since those are bigger way larger cities
But Rent is not the same as it was in 2006
I remember you could get a 2 bedroom in a bad area for 700$ in 2006
On Simpson road you could get a 2 bedroom for 500$
But very run down and of course the bluff is across the street
But it's not like that
The music scene Is okay
Personally I don't like it
Atlanta been on top since 2001 when Jermaine dupri came out with Ludacris
And TIP came out with I'm Serious
But I never liked the music scene
I was stuck On Outkast and the 90s East and West
Mainly New York Rappers and Tupac and Kendrick and Ras Kass and stuff.
I know I don't remember I was young
But I grew up On East Coast Rap mainly and Tupac
Just when I was younger I was forced to listen to radio
And V103 used to play guys in Atlanta
And they would play their songs like 5 times in 1 hour
Got tired of it and they never played rappers from other regions
Seem like Atlanta labels payed V103 especially 2013
I had to stop listening
Because I really didn't like the sound
I'm kinda stuck on The Lyrical East Coast sound.
Or Tupac
So I listen mainly to Seattle Grunge and Jazz and Soft Rock
Alternative rock
No Country because not all country music is bad
But gives me prejudice vibes
Because I remember Kid Rock Did A Song with a Country Music Legend
And I remember hearing him and He Said All Kinds Of N-Words and etc
Just life Atlanta is overrated
Just in my experience I got shot at by my dad
Racism which is everywhere
But listening to these people you'll think Atlanta has no racism
Kinda anxious
Just be venting
Because life is hard to live in trying to
Just people don't understand why I have a hard time functioning
Done with the new paragraph
Just going to repost the older paragraph because I'm basically going to type the same thing again like I always do
Just a regular dude venting my life
I talk like this on camera which is exhausting
And off camera to my mom and to myself in my room
Thinking because I do talk to myself since I don't have friends
I don't answer my self
But speak aloud my thoughts and feelings to release tension and stress
So this just me venting on my life.
This something I been feeling Since I was like 5 years old
I kinda knew when I was 17 it was going to be even rough adulthood than childhood
Which I tried to kill myself in 2010 when I was on Gresham road
Which that Was behind the scenes at home
Only my brother and mother seen it
Just I kinda tried numerous jobs
From McDonald's to Goodwill to factories working upwards to 16 hours some days
Trying to push through but my body couldn't handle that
Like I was feeling "Flight or Fight" responses like I was Running From Being Shot at night
By My Dad in 2011
Still have nightmares about that it just doesn't go away
And more scenarios in my childhood as well I'm not going to disclose.
People don't understand I jump when I hear gunshots
I try to not look crazy around people
So I try to look normal
But every time I hear a gunshot or something my heart starts pumping
And I start feeling exhausted and sad
Like I can't control if someone shoots a gun or pops a firecracker
But I try to put on my noise cancelling headphones
Even certain songs I have to mute if I hear a gunshot sound
If I can catch it
Even movies I'm not familiar with
I try to mute sounds if a gunshot scene comes
If I can catch it
This really a big issue
But people don't see that when I have to mute my TV
They also don't see
When I have bad days
They probably don't see if I have good days
I try to get laughs in
Because laughter is natural medicine
To distract from the negative thoughts I have everyday
They don't see due to my meds
That have me very sleepy which I take at night.. but carries on to the next morning
Sometimes I wake up at 12 pm sometimes late as 5 pm
Seroquel just does that
Even I tried waking up early I end up going back to sleep
I literally have to take a pre workout supplement
Which has caffeine which makes my anxiety worse
Just to fight it the medicine
Like I workout it's the best medicine
Better than any Prescription drug I don't do recreational drugs
But it naturally gets rid of my anxiety while working out at home
Didn't work In a commercial gym.
Which this gym equipment saved my life
It really helps me
If I lose that I probably will kill myself
And I was at risk of Type 2 diabetes
And my blood work was off due to I couldn't work out since I didn't leave my house
And of Course mentally I got really depressed since I didn't have no coping mechanism
I be depressed Alot but working out helps me cope with the thoughts I have
And temporarily gets rid of my anxiety
But only last 1 hour post workout
And anxiety comes back
Some people think I'm on steroids
Which I think I'm small
But I can't keep a stable job
Plus steroids cost money
If I can barely afford food and amino acids
Which comes from protein and food
How can I afford steroids?
I never took a steroid
I don't even take creatine anymore
Because my kidneys
And I have health issues which my natural testosterone is ok
So I have no reason to take steroids and I'm not competing in bodybuilding shows
I'm not a YouTuber or social media influencer making $1000s or even 100,000$
Making money on the Internet so I don't have a reason to
Plus due to the medicine I take it effects my Kidneys
Like I hope my kidneys are ok
Because I love to workout and it really helps me
I probably would kill myself if I can't workout and build muscle anymore
I don't use steroids
Just men's vitamins and fish oil and beta alanine and protein and amino acids from protein
I eat 200 grams daily since I'm 235 right now
Just hope my kidneys get back normal
Because I take a lot of medicine
Might have to stop one of my medications
Because I take Prep Which is A HIV medicine
Because I'm so paranoid of Contracting HIV
But I Don't even have sex like that since I don't leave my house
But I just take prep because I be scared I'm going to get HIV for a Hypothetical reason
Which I know HIV medicines I don't have HIV
I understand if I had it
But I don't Have HIV I take Prep Which is a HIV Medicine to prevent Catching it
Which HIV meds is hard on the kidneys
But Weird Thing is I don't even have sex
I haven't had sex with a woman since 2022
I haven't been in a relationship since 2019
Which was my only relationship with a woman
Just I Do Have a Desire for sex like every other human being
But Masturbating is such a lonely experience
And sometimes gets depressing

2024.06.10 01:05 JamesCodaCoIa I've been shocked with nostalgia lately

Sorry if this is all vague and ill thought out, I'm in a weird place lately.
I've been having some health problems, and just generally having an existential crisis, so I've been comfort watching shows that were popular when I was in college- Community, New Girl, Happy Endings... and I remember that all of those shows are over a decade old. Hell, Community debuted in 2009. Jeff had a Blackberry in the first season, there's references to Bejeweled and President Obama during the show. Those are now out of date, old references. When the movie comes out (if), even the youngest characters will be in their mid-thirties, and Jeff and Shirley will both be over 50.
Last year, a documentary based on the book Meet Me In The Bathroom came out. The Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, Interpol, that whole New York scene is over two decades old now. If someone caught a Strokes show and had a drunken hookup that night, that baby is now old enough to have their own drunken hookups at... I dunno, some Doja Cat concert now.
This is a very personal thing maybe, because a few of my friends are now married parents, and I'm still living in apartments and wondering what I really want to do with my life. My therapist told me he used to overthink and worry like me, then he had kids and now doesn't have time to do that. My old college friends likewise probably don't have to worry about where their dreams went, because little Dany (short for Daenrys) and little Barry have pre-K registration tomorrow.
I'm sort of in a weird place in life. I have a decent job, one that pays enough to pay for rent and bills with some left over... but I'm one of the many who might not ever own property. I've luckily kept my hair, the grey is confined to some stubble and a few hairs on the sideburns, and a decade of hardship has eliminated any potential laugh-line wrinkles. I still wear t-shirts and jeans and my shoe collection is almost exclusively ADIDAS or Vans. I look young-ish... but I'm not young. It's weird going to doctors and hearing about lifestyle changes to avoid what killed your older relatives, whereas before you just shrugged off any illness or injury with "no health insurance, yolo."
I know it's a cliche to think about how our generation had some odd stop-and-start moments, but we really did. We came of age in a decade with terrorist attacks and simultaneous wars and global financial collapses... then aged into a decade that started off promisingly and peaked with the Summer of Pokemon only to watch that collapse into the presidency of a garish Bond villain from one of the crappy Roger Moore movies and a worldwide pandemic that basically cut two years out of our lives and gave generations trauma, cynicism, conspiracy theories, and setbacks still being felt today.
When's our Roaring Twenties? Can we at least get a '90s Redux as adults? I was in school then, but the grown-up world seemed pretty sweet.

2024.06.10 00:53 thatARMSguy [WTT/WTS] Noveske 12.5" .308 barrel and bcg, Surefire M500A handguard

Timestamp: https://imgur.com/a/NnBAWqK
First up, I'm looking to trade a Noveske N6 12.5" barrel in .308, along with a Noveske N6 bcg. I originally bought these a while back for an AR-10, but the gas system is a proprietary length and wouldn't work with my handguard so I'm replacing them. This comes with Noveske's Micro Switchblock adjustable gas block, which is fantastic for suppressor users. You can adjust it by hand, but it comes with a little wrench to use if it's too hot to touch. It comes pre-drilled for the cross pin and also features a set screw for extra security, however it isn't dimpled for the screw. The bolt carrier group is nitrided and features dual ejectors and a beefed up firing pin. For whatever reason, when I received it from Noveske the firing pin retaining clip was out of spec and will not fully seat in the bolt carrier. You'll need a replacement, but luckily those things are like $3. Make sure you get an AR-10 sized clip, they're longer than regular AR-15 clips. I'm looking to trade both for a Trijicon ACOG TA31F, not picky about if it's salty or not. Preferably the basic thumbscrew mount, I've got my own mount I plan on using so no point in sending me anything too fancy.
Second item is a Surefire M500A handguard/light. These are pretty cool pieces from the early 2000s, perfect for putting on an old SWAT build. Pairs great with carry handle uppers, but an old Eotech on a flat top would look cool too. Comes with a standard incandescent lamp that kinda sucks, but Lumens Factory sells LED conversions for it that work great. Takes 3 CR123 batteries (not included). Hoping to get $275 for it, PayPal G&S. Buyer covers the G&S fee.

2024.06.10 00:42 ghostlunchbox Teaching Private Lessons

TL;DR: Student teaching this fall & graduating in December, considering teaching private lessons on weekends during the semester & possibly continuing after graduation. Have a few questions about the logistics of teaching private lessons like what to charge, location of lessons, dealing w taxes, and if it’s even possible to support myself financially teaching privately.
Hi all,
I’m a senior art ed student slated to student teach this fall and graduate in December. At this point, after teaching in person practicum units in elementary, middle, and high schools, I have no interest in or intention to teach art in a public K-12 setting after graduation. I think it’s such important work and I respect it so much, but I simply do not think I am cut out for it. I’m way too deep into my degree to switch majors now so that’s not an option unfortunately. I do love the idea of teaching art, but the school systems just do not seem to make the effort worth it.
I also will need a way to financially support myself while I am student teaching. The professors at my school heavily discourage working another job while student teaching but like… I have to eat & pay rent so that’s not realistic for me whatsoever.
I’m considering teaching private children’s art lessons on weekends while I am student teaching, and if I like it enough and it ends up being decently successful, I may continue after I graduate. I have a few questions for getting started on something like this.
Thanks for reading, I appreciate any advice or thoughts anyone has to offer.

2024.06.10 00:36 Chas-- Nikken's End 3A: The Alliance

Nikken's End 3A: The Alliance
"What distinguished the Indian system from that of the ancient Western world is the absence of slavery. The caste system made formal slavery unnecessary in ancient India." - from The Two Classes of the Four-Fold Caste System, by Sudheer Birodkar.
In Nikken's Threefold World, which is "the world of unenlightened beings who transmigrate within the Six Paths" ** [Hell, Hunger, Animality, Anger, Humanity and Heaven] ... the 3rd chapter describes the structure of Nikken's World of Animality.

Table of Contents

  1. A Question of Succession
  2. Minions of Takejizaiten
  3. The Alliance
  4. Departing the Enclave
  5. Preventing the Enclave
  6. Definition of Animality (Chikusho)
  7. Getting Some Help
  8. The Survivor Gita

1. A Question of Succession

When Nikkai Abe became 60th High Priest, it was after conspiring against Nissho 57th, who wanted to transfer to Nitchu 58th, then impeaching Nitchu 58th into an election against Nichiko Hori 59th, who was a weak High Priest and was driven out and succeeded by Nikkai. Nikkai was Nikken's father (sort of). So there is a history in Nichiren Shoshu of interfering with the succession of the High Priest.
Hence, the most likely scenario for the way the Survivor Gita will play itself out ... is an attempt at a coup during the succession of the Nichiren Shoshu priesthood.
This is because the weakest moment for those within the Brahmin (First Rank) enclave is when they perpetuate themselves once more with a new heir to the High Priest's chair. Jealousy within the enclave, at that critical point, is at it's peak, as status shifts and favors are granted and retracted. So, traitors abound, easy to find and use, with less concern for the group, and more for their own safety.
Outside the Brahmin enclave, those Kshatriya and Vaishya (Second and Third Rank) alliances, which are necessary for governance now become a danger to the status quo of the Brahmins.
This will be the only time that those power relationships can be used by those outside the enclave, to place themselves inside the ring of the elite.
The threat to the Brahmins is severe.
You never see a coup that allows the current Brahmin arrangements to persist. And all Brahminist successions are a coup on some level.

2. Minions of Takejizaiten

After a full-fledged and successful coup, those formerly inside the Brahmin enclave are invariably cast down to the bottom of the heap ... because Takejizaiten watches through the gloating eyes of his minions at the astonishing descent of the once mighty, and then he watches through the ascending and pre-emininent gloating eyes of the new ruling elite.
Only Dai-Rokuten-no-Mao, the Devil King of the Sixth Heaven, also known as Takejizaiten, really always wins the Survivor Gita, as an evil and necessary function of the life of all participants.
Dai-Rokuten-no Mao rules the Threefold World, which is the six worlds of Hell, Hunger, Animality, Anger, Humanity and Heaven from the highest realm of the Sixth Heaven of Desire. Those in the Threefold World, and even those who temporarily escape it through the three vehicles of Learning, Realization and the traditional Bodhisattva path will eventually be brought down through the sufferings of birth and death, which are his domain. He is the gatekeeper, preventing those without faith in the Lotus Sutra (the One Supreme Vehicle) from escaping those sufferings of birth and death.
Dai-Rokuten-no-Mao, who is extremely powerful, is only subordinated in the life of humanity, through Nichiren's Buddhism, as is shown on the Gohonzon.
Dai-Rokuten-no-Mao is located in the second rank on the right side of the Gohonzon, positioned beneath Namu Muhengyo Bosatsu (Bodhisattva Bound-less Practices), and between the two shoten zenjin: Dai Bontenno (Great Heavenly King Brahma) on the left and Dai Nittenno (Great Heavenly King Sun) on the right.
The side containment of Dai-Rokuten-no-Mao by the two Shoten Zenjin is the protective result of the correct practice of the Law, the determination for Kosen Rufu and not slandering the true teachings - from Namu Jogyo Bosatsu (Bodhisattva Superior Practices), who is overlooking everything from just over the left side of Muhengyo. Left of Jogyo are Taho, and on the other side of the Law itself, Shakyamuni, Jyogyo and Anryugyo keeping tabs on things, with the Four Heavenly Kings surrounding all the rest. The assembly is held aloft by Nichiren's devotion to the Wonderful Law of the Lotus Sutra.
The containment of Dai-Rokuten-no-Mao on the bottom, comes from T'ien-T'ai Chih-i, whose ichinen sanzen provides the blueprint, or layout of the Lotus Sutra: and this is the highest wisdom of the Lotus Sutra.
Namu Muhengyo Bosatsu (Bodhisattva Bound-less Practices) keeps the lid on the evil function of Dai-Rokuten-no-Mao from the top. See the map below:
http://www.buddhastate.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/gohonzon_map.pdf
More than anything in the world, Takejizaiten (the Devil king's more common name, also Tenji-ma) requires the correct practice of faith in Nichiren's Buddhism and the Gohonzon, which will ultimately lead to his permanent confinement. Only faith in the Lotus Sutra and the Gohonzon will satisfy him, and cause him to surrender control of his domain.
Takejizaiten rewards those minions who do his bidding with a foul rapture, so they will take any risk to attempt to participate in the denouement (on the winning side) of his past minion and current victim, and watch every detail of what happens to them.
Watching the denunciation or perp-walk, or the complete downfall and destruction of his past minions, is most important to his current minions. By getting as many people to gloat as possible, he gains strength and power to cause more mischief in human life.
Ultimately, only faith in the Lotus Sutra, when it is spread widely, will cause Takejizaiten to cease his activities in the world. In the appropriate circumstances, he can instigate a reign of terror, or an apocalypse.

3. The Alliance

In the era of Nikken, Nichijyun (Shinkyo) Fujimoto, the General Director of Nichiren Shoshu, and Nisshi (Kotoku) Obayashi, the Overseas Bureau chief priest and chief priest of Myoko-ji temple have been planning and moving carefully for decades.
Nichijyun has positioned himself as King of the Gakkai-haters. He is the one who crafted and delivered the notification of expulsion for the Soka Gakkai, with the careful exceptions for provisions which are revenue-enhancing like Tozan and Ceremonies, but without exception for Gojukai, retaining control of dispensing Gohonzon. This kept the money flowing, but provided a means to rip away Gakkai members into the Hokkeko. (This did not work very well, of course.)
Nichijyun and Obayashi have spared no effort and no expense to please the whims of the Brahmin families in the first rank of Nichiren Shoshu prestige. There is never a limit to any profligate spending, never a criticism of any vice or excess ... and yet every single action is carefully noted.
Every excess enjoyed or instance of bad behavior from any member of the Brahmin elite is made as public as possible, and witnesses are recorded.
This Nikken era pig has been fattened endlessly, and choked with excess ... until the appointed time of slaughter.
Any time a slight or insult could be made to a lesser priest, or their family by Nikken's relatives, no opportunity is missed, and every ill is amplified to the maximum extent. Every special favor is openly flaunted to the utmost.
The fever pitch of jealousy and hostility to Nikken's Gang of Six Families, has been slowly and carefully fostered and fed ... until the silent roar of spite and hatred is deafening.
And the devastating case against each individual which can be brought to bear is a sword of Damocles, silently hanging over the heads of the elite. Acts like the replacement of Cho'on Shiba by Shogu Kimura are now done so openly that it is clear that the six powerful Taisekiji families ARE the owners of everything AND everyone in Nichiren Shoshu.
But they are poised over a precipice. And pulling them over the side is a mountainous weight of evidence and venomous personal testimony that cannot be contradicted.
And with Nisshi Obayashi on his side Nichijyun is invulnerable to counter-attack. No breakaway group of Nichiren Shoshu Temples in Japan will be a match to the group Nichijyun Fujimoto controls, augmented by the Overseas Bureau's network of Temples. Any claim to worldwide operations rests with this Alliance, alone.
But wait ... any group of Japanese Temples might do just as well ...
... Obayashi is the real King-maker here. Even a small group of Japanese Temples with the augmentation of the Overseas Bureau will constitute the winning hand. And he can make the play at any time, even after the assurance of victory, and the settling of accounts ... if he can keep control of the Overseas Bureau.
This must be why he so carefully shifts people in and out of his operation, always having many chief secretary priests ... no one knows the whole of it, where all the bodies are buried, but Obayashi. Crafty fellow, and verrrry well prepared.
... Not that Obayashi isn't Nichijyun's man, of course.
No one is more obviously positioned to take over Nichiren Shoshu than Nichijyun. He could do so at any time, there is sooooo much evidence. All he needs is a pretext.
... And if Nichijyun mis-steps and trips up, well ... Obayashi can be flexible, and Taisekiji is surely stronger than the fortunes of any single priest or family. And if Fujimoto makes trouble ? ... there is also abundant evidence of his imperfections as well ...
But Nichijyun is the ONE ... for now.

4. Departing the Enclave

And you wondered why Prince Siddharta fled the Brahmin enclave of the Shakyas to be with the common mortals and try to find an answer to the sufferings of birth and death? The Shakyas were overthrown and destroyed during his life, and the result would not have been different if he had stayed, except for him and his legacy to the world.
Leaving the enclave to join the common mortals, who are the true Buddha is an enlightened act, the first step IS all of it: you have already won.
From "The True Aspect of All Phenomena", WND p. 384:
A common mortal is an entity of the three bodies, and a true Buddha. A Buddha is a function of the three bodies, and a provisional Buddha. In that case, though it is thought that Shakyamuni Buddha possesses the three virtues of sovereign, teacher, and parent for the sake of all of us living beings, that is not so. On the contrary, it is common mortals who endow him with the three virtues.
"A common mortal is ... a true Buddha". And Nichiren and Shakyamuni are endowed with the three virtues of sovereign, teacher, and parent by the common mortal, who is the true Buddha.
Which is why the act of a priest to take his temple to the reform movement, departing forever from the reach of the Brahmin enclave and Takejizaiten, and joining the Untouchables in the SGI is such an absolutely correct path.
It is such a relief not to be a minion of Takejizaiten.

5. Preventing the Enclave

So, what was supposed to prevent all this from happening in the Fuji School? And for SGI members, how do we prevent the same thing from happening to us?
Assuming the correct practice of the Lotus Sutra, the determination for Kosen Rufu and protection of the true teachings ... the Boundless Practices of Muhengyo is all that would be missing. So, what are those?
In all cases, for the organization to expand and propagate itself without limits, in other words to be scalable for growth ... the phenomenon of Brahminism must never be allowed to persist. It WILL spontaneously form, since Takejizaiten is present in all of us. But what suppresses and contains Takejizaiten?
For the widespread propagation by the Fuji School, Muhengyo' Boundless Practices are Nikko Shonin's 26 Admonitions. In many ways, it lays out how not to emulate other Japanese and Asian Buddhist priests. And in particular it clearly requires adherence to the practice of sexual abstinence for priests and the expectation of that behavior in priests by the laity, with demotions to the lowest rank if violated (one presumes that constant repetition of the violation would make a priest a lay member, and that marriage and family would immediately cause that permanent change of status).
The intent of Nikko Shonin is obvious: if the priests all start out as lay members, from lay families, and cannot have families of their own ... then you cannot easily form a Brahmin class, through hereditary succession and nepotism. People simply have too much empathy for their own original lay family, for their Mom and Dad. And the laity take the place of their own natural children.
The reversal of that intent by the government during the Meiji Restoration did not remove the superseding requirement for priests of the Fuji School laid down in Nikko Shonin's 26 Admonitions.
For the widespread propagation by the Soka Gakkai, Muhengyo's Boundless Practices were instituted by Josei Toda, just prior to his death, when he turned over the Kosen Rufu movement to the Youth Division.
When the Youth Division run everything ... then there is far less opportunity for even a temporary self-sustaining Brahminist group ... since leadership is attained in the thirties and ends in the thirties. The baton is passed quickly and repeatedly.
Wherever the SGI and Soka Gakkai follow Mr. Toda's intent, things work very well. Ultimately, it is clear that the Youth Division need to be running everything that is important, at all levels of the organization. They need help and support from the past Youth (like the four bodhisattvas and two Buddhas keeping a permanent eye on Takejizaiten), but the Youth Division need to be making the decisions, and they need to be the ones taking responsibility for the results.
After all, you can be President of the United States at age 35 !!!
Being honest about it, young people tend to go off and do things, rather than endlessly talk about it. Sometimes redoing is necessary ... but young people can do things 4 or 5 times from the beginning, in the time it takes mature people (like myself) just to get started !!!
Young people tend to be more likely to be accepting of the new methods, like communications and the web, which aids the growth of the organization and success for campaigns. [See "creative mimesis" in Toynbee.]
In either the case of Fuji School, or Soka Gakkai (SGI) ... it is the willingness to hand over power to the children of the laity as a follower of Nikko, or hand over power to the children ... that really satisfies the faith requirements of Takejizaiten, the guardian bulldog at the gate. It is the action made - based on the faith that the common mortal is in fact the true Buddha.
But that's only an issue now in the SGI, which is a healthy organization.
Nichiren Shoshu at Taisekiji is quite a different place, and is constantly poised for a monstrous struggle for control, from the rampant misdeeds of the Brahmin elite.

6. Definition of World of Animals (Chikusho)

From the SGI Dictionary:
http://www.nichirenlibrary.org/en/dic/Content/W/46#para-0
world of animals [畜生界] (Jpn chikushō-kai): Also, realm of animals or world of animality. The third of the Ten Worlds and one of the three, and the four, evil paths. When viewed as a state of life, the world of animals is a condition governed by instinct, in which one has no sense of reason or morality. Beings or persons in this world stand in fear of the strong but despise and prey upon those weaker than themselves. In The Object of Devotion for Observing the Mind, Nichiren defines the characteristic of this world as "foolishness," which is one of the three poisons.

7. Getting Some Help

If you are a Nichiren Shoshu Priest, or a Hokkeko member from anywhere in the world, and are thinking about switching to the SGI call (310) 260-8900 or contact the Headquarters at SGI Plaza.
Tell them that you are a Nichiren Shoshu Priest or Hokkeko member, and wish to speak to someone about the SGI, and what to do.

8. The Survivor Gita

Nikken, the self-appointed Usurper King of the Rats at Taisekiji, has been replaced by Nichinyo, who is an angry member of the elite, due to too many blows to the head in fights. A little punchy, he rules from weakness, since Nikken publicly had plans for his son to take over.
One thing that is known for certain: There will be a new Rat King. And then there will be another.
Another thing that is known for certain: All the alliances will change, and more than once. Anyone that has watched Survivor knows this.
Rule Number Zero:
The War of the Rodents can only be won by ... King Rat.
More to come ... These questions will be answered !!!

2024.06.10 00:24 The_Teacat So, here's the deal. (Updates, 6/9/2024.)

Going forward: * Stories involving Solar Girl, the Solarian, and Moonshine will only be canonical if they're published under the Pick-n-Μix Comix label. Same goes for almost everything else, but I've had a special thorn in my side dealing with all the pre-Pick-n-Mix stuff and what I want to do with it in regards to what is or isn't part of the overall canon and continuity, so it's important to point this part out first now that I've figured it out. * The content once belonging to the story-cycles of Supergirls In The Spotlight and The New Adventures Of Solar Girl is now going to be under the Lethericon Books label, which means they're non-canonical to everything in the current stable. * Everything under Lethericon Books is going to be a different format than the Pick-n-Mix Comix stuff. I wrote a lot of different, sometimes slower-paced and less adventurous stuff before I started finalizing the format I wanted for the main continuity and they've been in a really weird limbo of canon, but now they're under this label because that's what it's for. This'll be slower-paced, literary, chapter-by-chapter, less-focused, often very introspective, experimental storylines and extra stuff that are related to the main canon but are not themselves canonical; so, AUs like the Comix universe (a coming-of-age story I've been working on now and then where Grace and Gallo are in high school together — obviously completely incompatible with current canon, for a number of reasons), older stories like Supergirls In The Spotlight that don't fit current formatting standards for what is now the canonical works of Pick-n-Mix (and, at least in that one's case, is reprinted from much older work anyway, so nothing new in regards to new content there), and literary or prose outings (like copies of Certain Kinds Of Sadness and The Lethericon). * (For reference, those last two are just older, introspective art pieces I worked on a long time ago and have no real other place to go — I might put them up for pay at some point, but I just don't know. In any case, Certain Kinds is a bunch of super pretentious "poetry" a different version of me I knew once wrote a long time ago, while The Lethericon is the basis for the imprint's name — a dictionary and glossary of neologisms and new words I made up, and occasionally still contribute to sometimes, and their associated definitions and intended usages. So, just fun, meaningless artsy pieces; nothing related to the Pick-n-Mix adventures, but at a more ruminatory period in my life, it felt worthwhile to explore those things.)
Some additional notes: * I know who Moonshine is now! This has been another thorn in the development of workable Solar Girl stories since the very first iteration of Supergirls In The Spotlight, because I wanted Moonshine to be Solar Girl's best friend and sidekick but the dynamic and civilian identities I made for her never caught on and it kept changing with every new draft of the storyline, so often that I never had one single, consistent origin and identity for her. But, I've been developing stories for the Pick-n-Mix core for Solarian/Solar Girl continuity — an ongoing called Solarian Comix, which I'll talk about momentarily, or in its own post — and things have aligned so that the new, 100% canonical version is more or less set in stone now. * As expected, this was one of the reasons I decided to pull prior storyline outings out of canon entirely and render Supergirls In The Spotlight and The New Adventures Of Solar Girl non-canon. The version of Moonshine in those stories was Caitlin Deckard, a friend of Sarah Gardner's from school, the daughter of a previous generation's superheroes (who are nonexistent in the current Pick-n-Mix canon), and she's a very difficult, emotionally-troubled character — but I've since incorporated a version of Moonshine into the Pick-n-Mix version of Inglenook's history as a major operator during the canonical 'Lonum Wars, after which she moves to Spotlight City and eventually teams up with Solar Girl — meaning, of course, that not only are Inglenook and Spotlight City connected, but that Moonshine has to be much older than Solar Girl by default now and that I have a fairly solid timeline to connect events in Spotlight City too, referencing back to crossover events where their world connects to Inglenook and the Other Realms. * This was the final deciding factor in decanonizing the previous Solar Girl stuff. Supergirls In The Spotlight and The New Adventures Of Solar Girl are set on Earth, which doesn't exist in the Other Realms. I'm very adamant about this; which meant, of course, that any canonical crossovers between Inglenook stories and those Solar Girl stories are functionally impossible. I tried to do a storyline in New Adventures to fix this — the whole series was meant to connect Supergirls into current continuity, actually — but it just didn't work because of the fundamental origins of the setting. So, they had to go.
So, current canon: * Everything under the Pick-n-Mix label is canon. Supergirls In The Spotlight and The New Adventures Of Solar Girl are not. One version is set in the fictional Spotlight City on Earth in 2012 and 2024; the canonical version (that is, the version that slots in with everything else I'm building in the unified Pick-n-Mix universe, which mostly serves to adapt and standardize all this stuff into one overarching canon specifically for this reason and purpose) is a completely isolated, standalone city. * This version of Spotlight City is floating through space, kind of like the space colony of Terra Venture in Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy or the colony of Solaris in Jason X (which we never see the surface of, but we might remember its iconic destruction when Jason causes the archaeological ship Grendel to crash into it and destroy the whole thing). I first tried to do this concept with the new storylines in The New Adventures, where the 2012 version of Spotlight City had been shunted into space by Status Quo during the break in between series (and would've ended up crashing into the Other Realms at some point after Meanwhile's reset of the universe, while the new, rebooted, Earth-based version kept on ticking, ideally), but again, that stuff is non-canon now. * I don't know why the Pick-n-Mix version is in space yet, but it will be plot relevant and it will be explored, either in Solarian Comix or a different title meant to explore it. Every Other Realm has its own gimmick, though, so they all have funky origins and they're all tied together; New Galatée from a serial I'm working on called Milk was created when folks from the Inglish nation of Galatée decided to live without association to the Kingdom and left for a brand new realm, for instance. * This means fun stuff like Spotlight City gets brand new historical stuff and its own worldbuilding now! And there can be one solid timeline, one central set of origin stories that are absolutely canon (since that also changed for each draft of the story I've been working on, especially for Solar Girl and Moonshine), and lots of crossovers between realms without being too confusing or introducing multiversal counterparts or anything. (EG, the Solarian can now appear in Inglenook sometimes, and Dr Connector and Captain Mytho can show up in Spotlight City, and it'll all be pretty much continuous and canonical, no worries, easy as. Simple.)
Final notes about the Pick-n-Mix stuff: * Moonshine is Sarah's friend, still, but she's older. They're not in the same age bracket anymore, but kind of split the difference and cover both brackets previous versions have straddled. Here, Sarah (who is still Solar Girl, although not the first Solar Girl) is a high schooler attending New Dawn High School; Moonshine is Margaret Deckard, who works as a janitor at New Dawn and is in her late 30s, meaning Solarian Comix is set sometime in the late 80s, at the very least. (Note: this is the Inglenook version of the 80s, not ours. Timelines across the Other Realms are usually in sync, unless I need them not to be, and there are some aesthetic similarities, but Inglenook and the Other Realms are still fantasy worlds, so it's a brand new 80s and not ours.) Margaret and Sarah are kind of the weirdos at the school, obviously, and Sarah likes Margaret's vibe so she ended up befriending her and they have a weird friendship. At the start of their timeline, Margaret is not Moonshine — but, she was. * Before coming to Spotlight City, Margaret lived and grew up in the Kingdom of Inglenook. Urban fantasy, magic, superheroes, all that fun stuff. From 1968 to 1972, Inglenook got involved in the realm of Carillon, a parallel world home to the corvics (crow-people) and a store of scale oil that was useful to the Silvani people. Inglenook established the colony Oiltown there under Queen Charlotte's purview, but eventually it was discovered that the oil they were drilling had been infected by a nearly-indestructible black goo called the Black Regard, forcing Inglenook's hand. Things erupted, and the 'Lonum Wars started — lots of heroes and members of the Royal Protectorate participated, either by choice or by draft. Jack Scorcher of the Legendeers (although not at that time) was one of them; Margaret Deckard, operating under the name Moonshine, was another. * During this time frame, Moonshine was partners with Nightwalk, a shadow caster who died during the war, leaving Margaret deeply traumatized, along with everything else that happened. Once the war was over, she sought to retire from operations as a masked persona, especially given what she was involved in while she was in Carillon, and so eventually moved to Spotlight City to put everything behind her. * No one knew her in Spotlight City, so she's just Margaret Deckard now. But, in the first few origin stories as depicted in Solarian Comix, her friendship with Sarah Gardner puts this retirement at risk — Sarah becomes the new Sunbearer, Solar Girl, and accidentally creates her foil and initial arch-nemesis, Socialighter, from a rival girl at school. Their fight drags Margaret into things, and Sarah eventually discovers her friend's secret history while cleaning up Margaret's attic. Finally, they're able to be spun off into the title Solar Girl & Moonshine, obviously set in the same continuity — I'm still working out the focal details and central storyline gimmicks for it, but it should be focused heavily on this stuff, and on exploring Moonshine's history in Inglenook especially — and things continue and carry on from there. * (This "found in the attic" storyline was brought in from one of the many possible origins for Solar Girl, incidentally; where the idea was, she'd find a box including the solar crystals, the suit, and the pixie Flare in her mother's apartment, discover her mother either was supposed to be Solar Girl, and take up the identity herself. But, now it's transplanted onto Moonshine because of Sarah's current canonical origin, and Margaret is the one who takes up her old identity. Only at Sarah's urging, and in a moment of desperation against a new enemy threatening the city, though. Of course.)
What is Solarian Comix? And what other titles are being worked on? * Solarian Comix is one of the many ongoing titles I'm developing for Pick-n-Mix Comix, a line of serials adapting all my content and intellectual property into one solid canon, for easy digestion and continuity purposes. They're all in the format of issue-by-issue comic titles — sometimes miniseries, sometimes ongoings, sometimes graphic novels, etc. This one is all about Spotlight City, one of the Other Realms floating through space, protected by an artificial sun that gives the Sunbearers their power. The previous Sunbearer was the Solarian; the current one is Solar Girl. Solarian Comix is something of an anthology that jumps throughout the city's timeline, telling stories in recurring features about the Solarian, Solar Girl, and other characters and heroes throughout the city's history, since there's so much content to cover. Regular features include The Sensational Solar Girl, focusing on Solar Girl's rise to power; Silver-Age Solarian, focusing on the Solarian in Spotlight City's "Silver Age" (likely lasting from the 40s to the late 70s or so); and a bunch of other headliners, such as features centered around the realm-hopping witch Hexcellence, the living glitch Glitchboard, the light-manipulating Emerald Flash and Mock Mirage, and so on. * Related titles currently include Solar Girl & Moonshine, Solar Girl: Meanwhile, and Glitchboard: Tales From The Geistmaschine, which are standalone and aren't published in the chapters and pages of Solarian Comix, but do spin off from them.
Other titles being worked on for Pick-n-Mix include: * Dr Connector, a solo-based ongoing title about my science hero, Dr Connector. The first arc is in progress, titled "Dr Connector Meets The Freedom Beyond", and centers around Dr Connector and the Legendeers discovering the Other Realm known as the Freelands. * Solemn Graces, an adaptation of my pre-Pick-n-Mix novella series of the same name, featuring the detective and witch Grace Morgan discovering the town of Grimstead, which here is called Grimshaw (for plot-relevant reasons), and deciding to get pulled into events there for a while. Each issue is a multi-chapter story, with the first issue in progress, depicting Grace's first several days in Grimshaw — her discovery of the place, her fight with the Spring-Heeled Ripper, her meeting with Gallo Belgrave, and more. It comes as it comes, so it'll be finished at some point, and there are obviously a hundred more and then some storylines planned for future issues, so it'll keep me writing for quite a while. * Help! The Monsters Are Lost Here Too. The period is part of the title, yes. This one's a dungeon-crawler isekai-style story about the new character of Jaden Crofter, who becomes trapped in the Bridgery, a liminal and parallel dungeon world, and discovers that — not only is it filled with weird, strange monsters beyond the imagination — but that it's also trapping the monsters there just like him. So, pretty simple. He teams up with a knight from another world called Sydney Storm, and they get the heck out of there. Not much of it is written currently, but there are some worldbuilding notes and potential excerpts available if you like getting an eye into the behind-the-scenes writing and development process for serials like this. * Idyllville Mysteries, which is largely being reworked into Idyllville Mystery Theater, was an early attempt at an ongoing. This one was an anthology that told short vignettes about the city of Idyllville in Inglenook, and was originally exclusive to redditserials here on Reddit (posted using a corporate account I might continue using for Pick-n-Mix stuff, but maybe not). It's still archived on AO3, but because it doesn't fit current formatting standards, it's being heavily retooled and the original ongoing is basically cancelled. Some useful bits of plot details in those tales, though, and writing it helped me work through some stuff at the time while I was writing it, so I wouldn't be here if I hadn't been there. Thought it was worth mentioning, at least.
Those are the ones that have content available already, but as you can tell — there's so much more going on for the Pick-n-Mix universe, and so much more to come.

2024.06.10 00:23 The_Teacat So, here's the deal. (Updates, 6/9/2024. Nice.)

2024.06.10 00:05 RojoTheMighty Trivialized House of Grief in Honor Mode

This isn't anything groundbreaking (I was searching reddit for ideas before heading there, after all, so shoutout to anyone that posted in previous HOG posts!), but I'd like to share how I absolutely trivialized this fight in case anyone else is worried about their HM run. My Spore Druid Tav played a big role but I'm sure this will work with several other team make-ups.
tl;dr: a heaping helping of crowd control from Hunger of Hadar, Plant Growth, Ice Storm, Black Hole, Insect Plague, Spike Growth, Raging Vortex, and Sweetplum Gales, with a side order of stun from Monk & Air Myrm. Enjoy!

2024.06.10 00:03 Shinkansendoff Op-Ed: Why you shouldn't adopt the mindset "I'm never going back to flying economy" if you rely on Points & Miles to do so (particularly on daytime flights)

Ah, yes. Haven't we all been captivated by the ecstasy of our initial First or Business class flight, booked with miles saving thousands over the listed cash price of the ticket, sipping on that pre-departure champagne, stretching our legs, and [wishing we could be] thinking: "This is awesome! I'm never going back to flying Economy again!"
Honestly, unless you're rich enough to pay for First/Biz at the listed prices going forward, I would highly recommend against this mindset.
After flying nearly every First Class product that it's possible to book with miles and over half the business class ones, I'd call myself a points & miles expert. However, I still fly economy (and premium economy) plenty, and it's very much a core part of my points & miles strategy. Here's why I think it should never be dismissed.
  1. Holidays and Summer trips. Some airlines block space entirely during this season in premium cabins, making competition for the remaining seats vicious. However, it's the longest stretch most ppl can travel for each year, meaning in economy you're suffering less compared to the trip duration. I was lucky enough to get 3 Starlux Biz tickets for the initial 60k Alaska miles each leaving Taipei on 12/30, but we couldn't fly there until 12/21. We flew economy seated together on the way there on a 14-hour daytime flight, fell asleep easily after landing, and switched over the TZ immediately. The additional help of business class would've been minimal in this case.
  2. Fixed dates/airports. Your options will be limited, and you'll be more impacted by individual price fluctuations for those options since it'd be harder to choose another airline or routing if your preferred one goes up in cost. During low season you can try the backup plan approach, but as most seats are released fairly last minute, you may need to wait for awards to be available in both directions before cancelling your backup.
  3. Traveling with family (or friends) who have limited patience for "repositioning". I've flown to Honolulu in order to fly ANA's "flying Honu", Muscat for Oman Air First Class, home from Atlanta after the only KoreanAir First Class award I could find was ICN => ATL... and out of Chicago O'Hare more times than I'd care to admit b/c I find it usually has the best award availability in the USA. However, trying these new airlines and products are less important to my family who would rather not go further than the drive to LAX for repositioning. The only exception was positioning to London (and home from Doha) to fly the Etihad A380 Apartments, for 65k Aeroplan miles each. It was the best flight of all our lives, but they agreed it was a one-time thing and didn't want to go out of their way to fly any other airline product going forward. Of course I'm going to respect those wishes when traveling with them.
  4. Traveling with friends even on separate flights. They are generally not going to want to go out of their way to accommodate your special First or Business class flight, in terms of starting the trip a day early/late, waiting for you to arrive in the destination city for certain activities, being willing to switch plans for you to snatch last-minute awards, etc... unless you find an award for the exact date/route or arrive early and leave late and make sure syncing up is your, and not their, responsibility, I would prioritize the friends and fly together in economy if need be.
  5. Mid-Level Airline Status makes economy MUCH more bearable. (And premium economy, too!). Flying 40k elite miles for Turkish Airlines *A Gold for 2 years, or OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald status will make a huge difference in your flying experience anyway. Often you get a free bag and seat selection, sometimes to the exit row or bulkhead. You still get food, still get to watch movies, and if the food is objectionable and/or you want to drink, the mid-tier status will get you lounge access beforehand where you can do that. Priority check-in lines and phone service have helped massively with IRROPS or cutting it close at the airport. I can achieve Turkish *A Gold for ~$3k every 2 years and Alaska 75k MVP for ~$5k each year (altho I may drop the latter from 2025), and it's made a massive improvement in my everyday flying experience.
  6. Mileage programs, and award availability, will continue to deteriorate as more people learn to utilize their points effectively for premium cabins. Ask anyone who's been in this space even since 2021 and they'll likely moan about how much more specific the availability windows are, how much harder it is to book seats on the most popular airlines, or how their favorite sweet spots have more than doubled in price. With MileagePlus looking like a Skymiles clone and AA eventually on the way (the naysayers know and are afraid of when it's coming...), it will be harder to get the requisite points and award availability every time, for every group of people we want to travel with. Flying economy (with premium economy becoming a good compromise!) every once in awhile on the less painful daytime flights will remind you that you should not forsake that trip you've wanted to do, with the only hitch preventing you being that you'd rather not fly anything other than lie-flat business class.
TL;DR: I would discourage people in this space from swearing off economy ever again. Unless you're rich and/or a content creator that has [seemingly] infinite points due to affiliate credit card referral links and "business" spend (or just pays for the flights w/ cash while pretending to their "followers" that they use miles). Then idk LOL

2024.06.10 00:01 ltzktk Would katsuki go on a rescue mission for his classmates had one of them been taking in his place?

https://www.tiktok.com/@mirkoscats/video/7377473940622478623?_t=8n4AupYH1nK&_r=1
This is the TikTok for reference. In the comments someone says katsuki would go on any rescue mission for any of his classmates and someone said they disagreed and that he would never. What do you think?
Personally I believe he wouldn’t hesitate to help. “He didn’t like them” “he thinks he’s superior” you guys do realize that just because you don’t like someone doesn’t mean you wouldn’t try to save them? And it’s not like he even dislikes his classmates he’s just an insecure teenager with a superiority complex nurture in him since his quirk manifested. He’s prideful sure but he wants to be the number one hero. How can he achieve this goal if he’s not even wiling to fight to save his classmates?
Same people go on and say “post characters development yes pre no” and I just have to firmly disagree. It’s like the people who say katsuki sucks because he told izuku to jump off a building in the first episode while he was in middle school… be so serious please…
Anyway I can’t type this much in tiktok comments so I was forced to come to Reddit to complain. I’m not even a huge Mha fan I’m not even in the fandom and haven’t watched or read it in months it just brings out a certain annoyance in me when people mischaracterizes characters especially hotheaded temperamental ones.
But a lot of them think that which of his classmates he would or wouldn’t go on a rescue mission for would be fueled by his personal likeness to them but that’s just untrue he would still go on a rescue mission to help them fueled by the desire to fight villains or become number one hero or to be recognized whatever reasons you believe motivate him he would go on those missions no matter what.

The Ultimate Guide to the Best Low-Fat Diet for Weight Loss
Introduction
Several diets offer quick and effective results in the pursuit of weight loss. Among these, the low-fat diet has garnered significant attention for its potential to help individuals shed pounds while promoting overall health. This ultimate guide will explore what a low-fat diet entails, identify the best low-fat foods for weight loss, discuss who might benefit the most from such a diet, and consider potential risks. The main objective of this guide is to help you understand how to include a low-fat diet in your lifestyle to achieve your weight loss goals.
What is a Low-Fat Diet?
A low-fat diet emphasizes reducing fat intake, particularly unhealthy fats such as saturated and trans fats, while encouraging the consumption of healthier carbohydrates and proteins. Nutritionists strongly recommend consuming less than 30% of total daily calories. Health and fitness experts have demonstrated that fats containing too many calories lead to obesity; it is, therefore, crucial to reduce fat intake in order to achieve your weight loss goals.
Clinical Studies have shown that incorporating low-fat diets into your meal plan is the most effective weight loss strategy. For example, a comprehensive review published in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that individuals following low-fat diets experienced significant weight loss over a year compared to those on higher-fat diets. Furthermore, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend that individuals focus on healthy eating patterns, including low-fat options, to maintain a healthy weight and reduce the risk of chronic diseases.

2024.06.09 23:54 caulk_peanous I’ve just identified an emotion that’s been haunting me: Chronic shame. Also inferiority complex

Dr. K told me I needed to be more aware of my emotions, which I found hard to believe since I thought I was pretty self-understanding.
But last night I was feeling good after a shrooms trip, talking with my friend about it, then I suddenly started feeling bad about what was making me feel bad. And it clicked. I feel ashamed about myself. Right now I still feel it. I would’ve otherwise just thought I feel bad for “no reason.”
When this feeling of shame clicks on, I shrink and shrivel up at the thought of other people perceiving me. I inherently will think I’m just lesser than other people.
Adjacent to this feeling of shame, or perhaps the cause of it, is the deep feeling that I’m lesser than other people. My expectation is people won’t like me, that they’ll even dislike me. Because I’m just inherently below them in the world.
For me this is all quite important in identifying emotions. Hopefully other people resonate.
