2024.06.09 16:44 VergilVDante What’s your best tips for Yakuza 7 on hard mode?

I am trying it for the first time and i have a lot of experience with hard JRPGs but a friend of mine who gave me the game said it was pretty hard for him on normal because he didn’t grind enough or too focused on the main story
From what he told me all i understood there 6 party members + 1 you get from estate mini game
And levelling jobs is kinda slow so he pretty much has 1 or 2 jobs on each character
PS i did play the yakuza series so i understand what i am going through

2024.06.09 16:44 NASAfan89 Felons Should Be Allowed To Legally Buy Guns

Both Democrats and Republicans overwhelmingly support laws prohibiting felons from peacefully possessing firearms for personal defense, but this position seems unreasonable for a variety of reasons:
  1. Felons prohibited from possessing firearms can acquire them anyway through the black market just like people acquire illegal drugs through the black market. Therefore, the felon gun ban is ineffective at anything but preventing felons who are trying to obey laws from owning firearms. And the population of felons who are trying to obey laws are obviously not a public safety concern generally speaking, and thus should have all of their rights restored upon release from prison.
  2. If someone is considered to be dangerous to society, they should be locked up... not released with restrictions on their 2nd Amendment rights, because people who are dangerous (who want to commit violent crimes) can simply use other widely available weapons to kill their victim other than firearms, or again just purchase illegal firearms from the black market.
  3. The felon gun ban disproportionately denies 2nd Amendment rights to people of color.
  4. Many felons are not actually violent criminals and never committed a violent crime. The book "Three Felonies A Day" explains how millions of Americans with no criminal intent unknowingly commit non-violent felonies on a regular basis. These people are no more violent or dangerous than ordinary Americans, so there is not much justification in taking away their Constitutional rights such as the 2nd Amendment after they are released from jail.
  5. The "War on Drugs" has turned a sizable percentage of racial minorities in the USA into "felons" for non-violent "crimes" without a victim.
  6. Laws prohibiting the non-violent possession of ordinary widely available objects are tailor-made for a police state, as we see with the way police sometimes use these types of laws to plant evidence (usually drugs, admittedly -- but potentially other things as well) on innocent people and abuse their power to destroy people's lives.
  7. Restoring all Constitutional rights is seen as a step toward full reintegration into society for a rehabilitated individual.
  8. Felons have as much of a need as anyone else to own a firearm for personal defense. This is presumably especially true in the case of felons because they often have limited job opportunities and are thus more likely to live in more dangerous neighborhoods.
  9. Various studies have shown that there is not much of a relationship between the prohibition of firearms ownership by felons and reductions in violent crime:
    • "The Impact of Gun Control and Gun Ownership Levels on Violence Rates" by Jeffrey A. Miron (2001). Published in the Journal of Law and Economics 44(S2), 615-640.
    • Wellford, C.F., Pepper, J.V., & Petrie, C.V. (Eds.). 2004). Firearms and Violence: A Critical Review. National Academies Press.
    • Marlow, M.L. (1995). Effects of Gun Laws on Violent Crime. Journal of Economics and Business, 47(4), 367-381.
    • Duggan, M., Hjalmarsson, R., & Jacob, B.A. (2006). Guns, Violence, and the Efficiency of Illegal Markets. National Bureau of Economic Research.
  10. From a Constitutional Purist perspective, the 2nd Amendment guarantees teh right to own and carry firearms for all citizens, and any restrictions should be carefully scrutinized and narrowly applied. A blanket prohibition on all felons regardless of the specific nature of their crime fails that test.
Therefore, the prohibition on firearms ownership by felons is unreasonable and should be repealed.

2024.06.09 16:43 Scoobias How do I only level certain perk cards

I have 2 different builds. One I am using now and one I am working on for the end game when I get there. They both use 2 different levels of the Adrenaline perk card (4 and 3). Every time I try and level a 1 perk card to 2 (and then 3) it will only allow me to level the Adrenaline 4 up to 5. But I need that card for the other build and it will ruin that build. Is there a way to ONLY level a certain card and ignore the other, non max level card?

2024.06.09 16:42 MagneticDustin Butcher Block Floating Shelves Guidance

I have a bunch of leftover butcher block that I want to use for shelves. My wife insists on making these floating shelves. However I’m finding it difficult because of two reason: I’m having trouble finding the right hardware; and I’m wondering if a jig is enough or will I need to use a drill press. I’m no master of DIY but I understand enough to see that hanging these shelves will require planning and forethought unlike a regular shelf. So that being said, onto my request for help…
Do you all have any recommendations for hardware (6 inch bar floating shelf brackets) that can appropriately be installed in a stud? The butcher block is 1.5 inch thick so that matters here too.
Bonus question is will a drilling jig be enough to drill these holes straight or will a drill press be needed?

I’ve always thought Kai Scans was an independent reliable scanlation team, but recently when i wanted to read My In-Laws Are Obsessed With Me, I saw that it was taken directly from Magus Manga? Can anyone shed some light on this and also recommend me good scanlation groups to follow? I currently follow Temple Scans and Kai Scans

2024.06.09 16:41 Tricky_Ad_3958 New player need help

Hi, i'm a level 112 player, and i've wanted to switch from heavy weapon and PA to some other playstyle; I've finded one AA-25 fire rate-250DR Fixer, it's not a god roll but can I use it to keep up during the events? I've found some difficult using Gauss Rifle or Cold Shoulder, it seems like i can't get any tag before everything is deleted by flame and various explosion, but after one event using this Fixer and 45ultracite ammo, I wasn't still able to really keep up, it just got slightly better. It's my build? It's how I place myself during the event? It seems like most player just go to the spawn point and fire at will, i need to learn where the spawn point are to get a piece of the action(and some XP 'n loot)? Also, it's worth to use the .45Ultracite ammo insted of normal .45? I finished them fast, and they cost precious flux
For reference, my build here using Cold Shoulder+Fixer

2024.06.09 16:41 Afraid_Landscape_720 Metformin Weight Loss success!

Hello prediabetes friends! 3 weeks ago, after many elevated blood sugar tests and inability to lose weight, my GP prescribed me metformin. Originally she wanted to put me on GLP-1 meds, but fear of needles makes me woozy and I asked if there was a pill option to help with my blood sugar spikes. She prescribed metformin and said we will check back in a month to check and weigh in, and check my blood sugar levels again. My appointment is next week (Thursday), but as of today, 3 weeks on metformin, and I am down 8 lbs! I tried on a pair of jeans the other day and they were so loose I could not wear them! I take 500mg with meals twice daily. I also (kind of accidentally) intermittent fast, between the hours of 7pm-lunch time (dependent on day. Sometimes it's 11am, sometimes it's 2pm lol). This is due to the fact that I am also on Adderall, which makes me not hungry in the mornings until lunch. I eat two or three meals (I always measure out my food based on serving sizes) and eat about 1400-1500 calories a day, including snacks, which is typically fruit or veggies, but I've also indulged the fast few weeks on things I love like beer, Reeses cups, and a blizzard from DQ (I have been watching my blood sugar and will have the sweets when my sugar is low). I have also been reading "Glucose Revolution" by Jessie Inchauspé, which has opened my eyes to how we can keep blood sugar from spiking, and how better to plan my meals around my blood sugar levels. Metformin has been amazing at lowering my blood sugar and has really kept cravings for carbs at bay, which was always my downfall for weight loss. Another win - had my A1c checked yesterday - it was 5.5! Not sure if that means I'm not pre-diabetic anymore (my fasting blood sugars remain in the pre-diabetic range) but I take that as a huge win!

2024.06.09 16:41 johnybgoat Anyone having crazy amount of crashes lately?(Steam)

So, I would say im a fairly "new player" with my 200+ Playtime and Level 210.
Regardless, when i first started a month or two ago, game was running smooth as butter with 0 lags and 0 crashes on Ultra with stable 60FPS(even on those 8 hours sessions).
Recently however, I've noticed that when I fast travel, there's a % that I would be stuck at the loading screen till I close it( even if I wait 30 minutes it's still stuck). Crashes has been happening more and more frequently when I fast travel too or just walking around some area, and today especially, I noticed that being in the area of Whitespring, WILL crash if I move to the direction of those houses with the ghouls, South East from the entrance of Whitespring when you Fast Travel there.
Of course, I can still play as per usual if I keep on enduring through the CTD here and there but in an attempt to bring my game to optimal performance again, I tried 1. Disable All Grass generation
  1. Verify Files Integrity
  2. Reinstall Game
  3. Set it from Ultra to Low, in case my PC got scuffed for some reason
  4. Go there with another character.
  5. Private World incase the connectivity to other players was the reason.
The only Mod I had was ENB for the slick lighting but even that I had since I started pretty much. So that can't be it(though to make sure I did kept it uninstalled when I tried reinstalling the game. Didn't help). Nothing worked to fix that dreadful CTD and I feel like if its not fixed then the other slew of issues won't go away neither. Does anyone know what is going on here?

2024.06.09 16:40 Lunar_Lime_Bear Griff is squishy

Griff is squishy
I just learned how squishy Griff is and I am baffled, he has less health than brawlers like Sandy, Gale, EMZ, Lola, Bo... He is one of my main brawlers for ranked but I never even noticed that, I thought that he had health close to brawlers that I would call "pseudo-thanks" like Pearl, RT, Nita, Carl, Shelly... Apparently he actually only has 200 health more than Edgar or Charlie for example
I'm not saying that he is unbalanced or anything, I just meant that his survivability, thanks to his star power I assume, has been misleading me for a long time 😂😅

2024.06.09 16:37 Oppenhellmer I feel a desire to dedicate the next 5 years of my life to meditation in isolation from the rest of society.

I'm not diagnosed with schizoid, don't know too much about it other than the wikipedia article, 5 biotypes explained by a teacher in college of a subject called Health and Spirituality. Anyway, I don't think that this type of personality is a "disorder", disorder sounds like a harsh term. I would refer to it as "condition" or "way of living/being", that may or may not give you peace or joy depending on the person and how they live.
But anyways, I'm a 20 years old boy, suffering in college and suffering from mental health issues, like extreme anxiety if not coped with through practices, like meditation and awaraness of breath(medications are psychoterapy are not helping much) and personal questions, along with existentiall/spiritual issues, and "adhdlike" symptons... I'm also level 1 autistic, diagnosed.
And I feel a need to stop using social media as much as I wish, as I can, and living alone in a house or with a relative or friend or whatever, and just dedicate the next 5 years to developing the habit of meditation and introspection and writing down thoughts and feelings, connect more with myself, find inner peace and become less susceptible to outside influences, opinions and views, and less prone to absorving everything that I hear or read like a sponge, like an inner urge to become an "actual thinker, free thinker, an actual Rene Descartes" or such, and discover myself and prepare myself and my mental health, reducing my anxiety and dysfunctional executive symptons, andn read, watch videos and learn about topics that interest me inside a confortable home without too much external contact, even with family. And play videogames, start reducing social media usage and instead start enjoying single player videogames like Minecraft with a peace of mind and content.
Unfortunately, this is an idealization in my mind, since as humans in a society, we need to work, find a degree, fit in and such.
Is that a sign of schizoidism?
Krishnamurti is an author and thinker who influeced myself to have an internal planning like this.

2024.06.09 16:37 Shpegg I take really zoomed in photos of birds. What can I do to make that more than a hobby? UK

As the title says, I take really zoomed in photos of birds. I've been doing it for a few years now and I find interesting ways to frame the composition of the photos of the birds with buildings, foliage, telephone poles etc. all from ground level perspective looking upwards, its work that explores our enclosed surroundings in urban & suburban areas, our manmade horizons, our terrestrial nature as landbound beings and the perspective that comes along with that as opposed to these feathery friends of ours that arent limited in their freedom of sight and movement like we are. I dont particularly aspire to make a living off of it or be a professional photographer, not seriously anyway. It's a fun hobby to creatively express myself and I enjoy it as I can do it anywhere, though I have daydreamed from time to time about my work being published as a book or having a small gallery exhibition. If I could make a little money off of it that'd be a swell bonus and I imagine quite fulfilling. I have no idea how any of that stuff happens, I make art in some other mediums which I've sold in some local coffee shops and I used to use an instagram art account, but otherwise I havent the foggiest on how to get my work published or displayed. Could I create a book concept and send that to arthouse publishers? Contact galleries and ask them how it happens? Looking for any advice or guidance please, would be very much appreciated x Im in the UK if that affects pathway advice.

Reading and listening are important. Listen to English-speaking radio. You can get lots of them on the internet. Try different English-speaking countries. Watch TV shows if you can. Get them on YouTube or other similar sources. Look for programmes like news or documentaries. You have the pictures to help you understand. Language in them is more genuine than in a soap opera. Look for programmes or things to read that are of interest to you. So if you have a hobby or other interest, look for things in English that relate to them. You will learn English and maybe something about your interests.
Lately, I've just found out this site ( https://www.conversationexchange.com/ ) where you can chat/speak with native English speaker, it's really cool.
Always have a notebook with me to makes some notes or write down some new vocabulary or phrases.
And the most important thing … speaking practice. I can recommend you ,,speaky app.,, It’s really cool. Lot of weird people which do not distinguish this app from tinder there but I have found some decent people that I am able to speak a few times per week with. I can even say that after few months they even became my friends.
  • try to embed yourself in english
  • persistance and constistnecy, do it daily, event if it’s just one new word its always step forward,
  • find an english speaking friend and stay in touch with him frequently
  • exercise your speaking muscles everyday for 5 minutes
https://discord.com/invite/english in there you can find people to speak with anytime
I've learned English on my own through YouTube.
Step 1. Unsubscribe from all the channels in your native tongue.
Step 2. Subscribe to all English Learning Channels you can find.
Step 3. Watch Videos from the subscribed channels whenever you have occasion.
In 2-3 months you will understand most of the content.
If you're a complete beginner, read books meant for kids.
Honestly I'd suggest trying a couple of nature documentaries first. The speech will be very slow and give you lots of time to understand what you heard. If you're still struggling with that, then worry about kids shows.
I'd also suggest looking at podcasts for English beginners. They should deliberately speak slowly and not use complicated words
Some that come to mind easily are two tv shows called Sesame Street and Peppa Pig because of their simple language (aimed at native English kids learning English).
For listening practice you could try this free Whatsapp group with daily British English listening practice - https://chat.whatsapp.com/ELjBO3HwTMgK3xxqq3mq6d
Try Nonsense.com :) It is free and you get to watch movies.
This explanation is a little long so you can translate it to your native language by using www.Deepl.com
There are many ways you can learn English as a beginner. First, I think it's important to find out exactly what your level is. A great framework for understanding language level is called CEFR "The common European framework for Reference". There are many free tests online you can take to find out your level. I recommend the EFSET test. It's free and fast. Here is the link.https://www.efset.org
After you have found out what your level is, you need to learn the necessary content. You also need to manage your time expectations. Each level of the CEFR A1 A2 (beginner) B1 B2 (intermediate) C1 C2 (Advanced) takes a different amount of time. The A levels take about 100 hours each. The B levels take about 200 and the C levels take about 300 hours.
To complete a level you will need to improve 8 areas:
  1. vocabulary = Improve your vocabulary by buying an appropriate vocabulary book. Try to learn 20 new words each day. Download an SRS app (spaced repetition) to help you learn the vocabulary faster. e.g. Anki or Quizlet. Also, try to make or use mnemonics to remember what the words mean.
  2. grammar = Buy an appropriate grammar book (I recommend Grammar in Use by Murphy) Each CEFR level has about 200 grammar structures. First, study the structures and understand what they mean, then activate them and make sure you can use them all in conversation. To help with this, you can use my Youtube. I post grammar lessons every day (Yes, I know this is a shameless plug) https://www.youtube.com/learngrammarwithstuart
  3. conversation = Make sure to practice what you have learned by speaking to a native speaker. There are a lot of great apps like Italki and Cambly where you can practice this for a very low cost.
  4. pronunciation = Improve this by shadowing (listening and repeating what people say) e.g. the audio content from the reading textbook. You can also improve your pronunciation by watching Youtube pronunciation channels.
  5. conversation = Make sure to practice what you have learned by speaking to a native speaker. There are a lot of great apps like Italki and Cambly where you can practice this for a very low cost.)
  6. reading = Buy a graded reader and practice reading at your level. To see if the content is at your level, use the following rule. If you need to translate more than 10 words per page, the book you are reading is too hard.
  7. listening = Improve your listening by watching TV shows that use simple English. I recommend kids cartoons and sitcoms e.g. friends. There are also lots of great youtube channels that you can use.
  8. writing = Improve your writing by using an app like Hello Talk or a similar SNS. It allows you to easily practice writing and communicating with other English speakers and language learners.
I hope this helps and good luck with your studies.
