2024.06.09 11:00 Mano859 Wanting to know whether to upgrade my PC or stick with my PS5

So I want to start off by saying that I’ve been a PC gamer since about 2014. I’ve been upgrading it off and on when I had money, but I’ve never been able to really get my PC to where I wanted it and I genuinely don’t like the idea of building and tinkering my PC. I have a PS5, and a new gaming laptop coming in the mail. However I can’t make my mind up on something. I’ve been loving my PS5, I like the idea of plugging in a game and playing it at 60 FPS with from what I can tell are relatively high settings compared to the PC. But my question is, would it be worth it to sell my PS5 and upgrade my desktop? My desktop has a 2080TI, and i77700k, 16 GBs of ram, and a terabyte SSD. My 2080ti is being bottlenecked heavily by my i7 and doesn’t produce nearly what it should. I only learned that after I spent nearly 1500 to buy the thing near when it came out. I was told at the time that my i7 wouldn’t be an issue however, whoever told me that was dead wrong. I can barely get 60 fps in FARCRY 5 at 1440p med-ultra settings and it’s similar to Other open world games like borderlands 3, Jedi survivor, Cyberpunk 2077, ETC. Due to this im Very sour toward PC gaming at the moment as it feels I’ve never been able to really have a rig that produces the frames and graphics I wanted and paid for. I’m in the military so I bought a pretty beefy laptop to take on rotations and such, but I’m wondering if I should have upgraded my desktop or bought the PS5. From what I can tell the PS5 runs games like Jedi survivor very well and at what looks like a mix between high and ultra settings. Is this true for most games on the PS5? I haven’t been able to play too much but the games I did play looked great. Example being Helldivers 2, Dead Island 2, Assassins Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and the next game I’m going to buy on it, Borderlands 3. Does the PS5 run games at a pretty high graphics setting? Or am I having a bit of a placebo mixed with buyers remorse? Should I have just forked over the cash for a new processor and motherboard? My thought process was that I couldn’t really justify the price of that verses the PS5 which is a very low buy in price. I don’t know honestly. My buddy who builds PCs for living put a list of parts I needed to offset the 2080ti bottleneck and I honestly was just angry at how expensive it was going to be while I had already purchased the 2080ti going off of advice that was obviously wrong, but hindsight is always 20/20 I guess haha. I see a lot of people hating on the PS5 on Reddit and YouTube saying that it runs most games at low to medium settings to get the 60 but they really don’t look like they’re at low or medium. A lot on the ps5 look like a mix between medium and ultra. Which I’m ok with honestly. I also got tired of every single port on PC being horrendous and needing like an hour of tweaking to just work like it does on consoles. So what do you guys think? Did I make the right decision or should I try to sell my PS5 and upgrade when I have enough money? I’d love some opinions and advice if you guys have any. Thank you!

2024.06.09 09:39 MamboFloof Can I sue JLR San Diego for a negligent car repair that was 100x more expensive than necessary?

I'm sorry in advance for the length, but this is a multifaceted problem a year in the making.
A year ago I had a problem that pretty much could be solved by changing the Cam Position Sensor. I specifically asked JLR San Diego "Hey, I'm only misfiring when I'm coasting with a slight decel at highway speed. It goes away on restart. Is this possibly an issue with the VVT system, or a bad signal being sent to the ECM"?
No, of course it can't be. No, the entire engine is apparently unrepairable and must be replaced.
Quoted $50k. I was able to find a reman unit for 13k and they agreed to install it for $5k (half labor rate, which clearly created issues I'll get to later).
So I replaced it with a reman unit (the supplier took it, remanufactured it, and sold it within a week, so clearly that was some bs, but what ever). After 4 months of waiting (all parts were delivered long ago), I finally get on their case. Magically after raising some hell with JLR and the Franchiser the new engine gets put in within a week (Which makes me highly doubt the Engine was unfixable but what ever). Ok cool. Immediatly get lights, take it back and they forgot to secure the intake. What ever no biggie... nope, misfire on the same cylinders under the same conditions. Sparkplugs, ingnition coils, fuel pumps, all changed. Nothing. Little ideas that keep adding up out of pocket.
"Ok, it must be the timing being completely off after 200 miles, lets take it appart and see... for $10 grand. Also I think your oil pressure is about 5psi, I used a home made tool to check it" What? This new engine you put in is somehow out of time? The car that just made a 70 mile trip is somehow at 5 psi? I call bs, it wouldnt have made it here. Ok so I take it to a different mechanic after telling them to pound rocks. We do maybe $2k in parts canoning before changing the o2 sensors. That temporarily makes the problem go away. Of course I can only tell them information that JLR told me, so we arent checking the cams, timing, or VVT system outside of a normal diagnisis that reads "OK".
Fast forward a few months, I'm getting misfires again, same cylinders as before, and now finally a Cam Position Sensor code. And what happens when I pull the sensor? Problem is fixed. Um... wait a minute? That is quite literally what I asked them about. A sensor that is sending bad cam position information, related to the VVT system, thats causing incorrect fuel timing? Yeah, while not word for word, if they took my question seriously they would have noticed this issue.
$300 part. $30,000 in "unecessary repairs".
Yes I should have bailed long ago, but got in way too deep and fell victim to the sunken cost falacy (it started with "the value loss of just selling is about the same as putting in the reman", then spiraled out of control from there. Thats on me. I learned a lesson and will never make that mistake again.
Whats my legal recourse here? Am I able to do anything when I specifically asked them about this, and they just about laughed me out the door, talking about how "that cant be it, that never happens, and our best guy doesnt make mistakes"? Is there any reasonable expectation that a mechanic shouldn't be 10,000% wrong just to push proffits? (I'll add a note about why I strongly believe this is the case).
Why I believe they did this to push proffits:
1: During this process, there were a few OEM parts on long backorders. I ordered aftermarket parts to be delivered to JLR San Diego. One of these parts magically got checked into inventory, and they tried to resell it to me. I had to fight them about that, because why would a dealership that notoriously does not want you using aftermaket parts, happen to magically stock exactly one of the aftermarket part I bought? (Heck, this came in pairs. Why would they only have half of the pair, while my car has the other half?).
2: They actievely fought me and refused to test drive it until I replaced my wheel bearings that magically went bad while the car was there. They had absolutly no issue when I had the car inspected there before a month prior to the engine problem. Now if they want to make the case that they died while it was left baking in the sun for 4 months while they refused to work on it, thats one thing. But refusing to see if the engine would stop misfiring until I bought new wheel bearings? Yeah that sounds like a forced sale to me. I refused unless they would pay for it, and magically the issue was dropped when I started getting mad at JLR Corporate.
3: Their solutions to a new engine having the old engine's issues made no sense. Home made tools with obviously bad readouts justifying a $10k repair that "likley wouldnt fix the problem but might"? How can the oil pressure be at a fraction of normal spec and not be throwing a dozen codes? How did I drive 70 miles to the shop? Theres also no indication the engine is out of time so why would you be suggesting that for a random misfire, that can be duplicated using the same conditions, that goes away until put in the same conditions. There should be some expectation that when they put the new engine in they ensure its timing (and yeah, its not out of time). So that reasoning was stupid enough, they couldnt even explain their reasoning in a convincing way.
And yes, I acknowledge that if my head was blown I needed to atleast get the headgasket replaced, however they did their best to ensure this was described as not an option. That that engine would never be repairable and was destined for the trash bin. If I could have gotten my 2 cylinders of conern remanufactured (4 and 6), and a new headgasket, then replaced this sensor for even just 1/6-1/3 of the cost, how thats still $20-25k in wasted repairs.
This has been a very irritating and expensive lesson in when to just call it quits and not fall victim to the sunken cost fallacy, and have a bit of humility (though admitedly when I was right it makes it a bit harder). I recognize my mistakes and will own them, so if there is infact no oportunity to sue, is there any type of report I can file against them so they cant pull this with anybody else?

2024.06.09 09:13 DragonStryk72 Valoria Saga (Chapter 2)

Prev Royal Road Patreon
Karghol stepped forward. As Rob he might be scared, but he'd been the leader of the group for a long time, operating as our main tank across a ton of games, and now, I could see him taking that step again, "Okay, first thing's first. If they're gonna pop us out of this from the outside, then that's not on us, but we've all seen this anime. If they're not coming, then we need to get to the endgame as fast as possible."
"Nope," I shook my head, surprising even myself at how quickly I'd said something.
He turned, "What? I mean, we gotta get out ahead of this."
"In most games, I'd agree, but not here, not in this game. Also, side-point but decision time for everyone: Real names or character names? I can't keep flipping between them. Lugh is what's on my party registry, so I'm sticking with Lugh," It seemed small but wasn't.
I'd learned well enough that giving people all of the information was most often counter-productive at best. Giving people a small, immediate choice was far preferable and got them on the path to understanding better. Temur snorted slightly at the absurdity, "Well, I suppose you can call me either Temur, or Temur. Whichever floats your boat."
Several groans came out, and finally, some laughter. I mean, it was dad joke humor to be sure, but jokes were probably going to become a much more specific thing for us. From there, everyone chose their character names, either because it was simply easier given the nametags in our party rotation, or because they just didn't want everyone knowing their real ones. Khargol however, was a slight agitated, "Alright, so why not speedrun it?"
"Because speedrunners die and reset constantly."
The slight mirth died out in the room, but Khargol wasn't ready to yield the point, "I've watched you do a no-death run of Dark Souls!"
I nodded, "And do you have any idea how many times I died in that game getting to that level of skill? Look, this isn't Dark Souls. That game has set difficulty levels. Yeah, it's got solid AI, but here? The AI adapts to tactics, and I'm pretty sure the beta test players are about to learn that the hard way."
Everyone was a bit curious at the statement, but it was Shelara who spoke up, "What does that 'adaptive AI' mean?"
I sighed, and took a seat at the head of the table, with Khargol finally sitting down next to me, "It means the AI of the system is learning. Beta testers essentially get to play ahead of the general public to try and stress test the system under actual play conditions. Most usually, they'll try to learn as many exploits as possible, so even if they start out on brand new characters, they're still going to be far ahead of the pack, getting gear and coin ahead of others. Assume that the beta testers have watched things like SAO or other 'trapped in a video game' style series, and they're doing the same as Khargol is suggesting. Problem is, that's exactly what a bunch of them already did, and if the AI works like it's supposed to, then it's ready for them.
"For Valorian Saga, one of the biggest selling points was its adaptive AI system, a system that learns. What that means is that the system behind bosses has already learned those exploits from beta testers and has some sort of answer for them, and they're going to run dead into them."
Chrysta sat forward, leaning her elbows on the table, at least in part to show off her biceps, "Well if a speedrun is out of the question, then what do we do instead?"
Shelara cut back in, "But... shouldn't we try and go save the beta testers?"
I considered, "Shelara, in answer to your question, we can't. Even assuming we could catch up to wherever they're at, there's almost no chance they'd listen to us if we did. They're just as likely to assume we're rivals, or to think we're idiots, but regardless they won't be following our instructions just because we say so. As far as they're concerned, they already know this game, and we're a bunch of sprouts who are panicking. Even if we could get past that point, we don't know the game like they do, and we're more likely to end up needing saving before we ever get to them.
"As to the other question, Chrysta, what we do now is finish up the starter quests, then we use our flyers to join the militia."
Every MMO veteran groaned openly. Arkadi especially was annoyed at the concept, "Come on, man, faction-grinding on day two? We're not even out of the gate yet!"
I'd expected this, and checked my in-game clock, and swore under my breath. We needed to get moving, with only roughly eighteen minutes of daylight left, "Guys, that's why we need to join the militia. It's safe, and grinding up our faction rep with Valoria opens a lot of doors, not least of which is giving us barracks space to live in free of charge, basic equipment upgrades, and getting coin. That's just the short-term gains. Yeah, not much, but it gives us a foundation. We get the lay of the land, and we build up our strategies. There's another reason though, and it's important."
Khargol nodded, "As militia, we get arrest powers in line with the laws of Farrelston."
"Wait, we'd be cops?" Shelera seemed slightly hyped about the concept.
I nodded, "More or less. We aren't out in the main room right now cause everyone's losing their minds out there. They're all coming to terms with the idea that this place is where they might die, and that breeds desperate reactions. Fourteen million players split between fifty servers, giving an average server population of... two-hundred-eighty thousand per server give or take for server popularity. Assume maybe one percent of that go fully around the bend and get violent, and that gives us two thousand eight hundred violent criminals that just hit the city on this server that have the ability to level up within the system.
"Farrelston has to be a safe space for players to return to, but that can't happen if there isn't order, and that means law enforcement."
One of our newcomers made her presence felt, the elf woman from the cathedral, shaking as she spoke, "I'm Layala. What about my brother?"
Tom... "I don't know. I don't what happens to those who die in the game. Maybe they wake up, maybe they're just comatose in a hospital somewhere, or maybe they're gone."
I let it sink in for everyone. Layala's eyes fell to the table as she slowly wept. I hate this, but sugarcoating the thing wasn't good for anyone, "All I can work on right now is keeping us all alive. This is a fantasy RPG, so for all I know, there might be another way to get them back, but I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. Anyone who knows someone who didn't respawn, we'll keep a journal of names, to see that they're remembered. We chronicle the dead, and if the opportunity to get them back presents itself, we go all-in on it.
"I know we all have questions... but we can't stay here to answer them all, and I don't have all the answers for you. We need to start moving, and moving now. We've got thirteen people here, our five and the eight we added on. We've got enough people to form a guild when the time comes, so we should start acting like a guild now."
Layala's voice cracked, "I-I nominate Lugh."
I was startled. I've been very game-knowledgeable, but I wasn't the leader type. It was never my role in the group.
"I second the nomination."
Khargol. My head whipped around, "Look, guys, I'm not a leader. I know stuff, that's what I've got. Khargol's the one who leads."
Khargol shook his head, "Not here, not in this game. I'm all good for the tanking, but you're the only one of us who's putting out a plan of attack, and I'm getting more lost by the minute. It sucks dude, and it hurts to admit it to myself, but you're the guy this time."
Nods occurred, and by show of hands, I was almost unanimously elected to command the 'guild', minus my own dissenting vote. Well.... crapbaskets, "Alright, fine. I won't argue it, but we've gotta get a move on. Get the starter quests going, and when we unlock the job change system, we'll work things out from there. Until then, we'll break into three parties, two four-man parties, and one five-man. Khargol, you're in charge of the five-man, Temur and myself are the other party leaders for now. We'll meet at the barracks come sundown. We spread out the neos amongst the three parties so they're all protected, and we get started. Don't do any combat quests alone."
I picked up Shelera for my party's neo, along with Chrysta and Layala, and the parties agreed to meet up in front of the barracks around sunset so we could join up together. We fought the press of bodies in the tavern to get out into the streets, and headed off for our quests. I could feel my heart racing a bit, the whole thing feeling like some sort of bad dream, but we would need a minute to get things together, "Okay, let's check everyone's quest logs. Any shareable quests, share them with the group so we can all help out and get rewards. We tackle them from lowest to highest."
We moved through the streets to the first quest, running messages around the city for the heralds. The quest was designed to get new players oriented with the larger city of Farrelston and what factions existed within it. The vast majority of players though, were barely moving, either pressed into the tavern or milling about in front of the cathedral. This was a huge problem, and we were finding clusters of people around, hiding and trying to just deal with the enormity of it all. We were running messages to guards, merchants, and nobles on what was a very low-key questline while watching people crying or raging. Shelera moved up next to me, close to tears herself, "We can't do anything?"
a I halted, and looked around again, and noticed some people who weren't in groups. Solo players who had come in by themselves, the same as you'd see in any MMO, and now they were cut off from the world, friends, family, and no party. Solo players really only existed in MMOs, people who would just fill in the gaps, and otherwise keep to themselves, and it worked in the world of video games. In the real world, though, it wasn't good, "We can do a little."
I jogged over to where a powerfully built Dracon with a sword and shield was balled up on the ground, weeping, purple-scaled head buried in his arms. I knelt down next to him, laying a hand on his shoulder, "Hey, what's your character name?"
The Dracon boy looked up imploringly, his voice quavering, "Umbaar..."
"Hi, Umbaar. I'm Lugh, and these are my friends. Why don't you come with us? You can join our party," I kept my tone even by pleasant.
He nodded sheepishly and accepted the party invite, "My mom's gonna kill me. I wasn't even supposed to be playing the game."
Oh God, no, "How old are you, Umbaar?"
"I'll be fourteen in December."
Due to the nature of the game, the minimum age for Valorian Saga was eighteen. He'd likely gotten access to the rig, and just jumped on, and now he was trapped, "I'm sure right now, your mom's just worried about you, but we'll keep you safe. Come on, we've got quests to do."
The absurdity of our questing was fully growing with each step we took. After running messages, we helped the watch with investigating some local crimes to learn the search system, worked with merchants on trading to get the economy down, and along the way, we found some more solos to fill us out to the party cap of eight. The jobs were immaterial to me, but Shelera and Layala both found comfort in picking up more people, with the latter taking over care of Umbaar. NPCs went about their day's work, and I started to catch on to something, "Hey... is this day... running long to anyone else?"
Games don't use full twenty-four-hour days, using a shorter day and night cycle to give the impression of a world without having to artificially inflate the game to make it feel like a full day. Valorian Saga had, in the videos, been shown to have a twenty-minute day, and twenty-minute night, but as we ran around, it had been far more than twenty minutes now. The sun had barely moved in the sky, which given the rest of the game's level of detail wasn't something they would've ignored. Chrysta spoke up after counting her clock, "Uh... well dearheart, I do believe we've got us a twenty-four cycle now."
There were several possibilities to this, perhaps either our minds changed gear to work with in-game time, or the game had altered to have twenty-four-hour time. Either way, we had no answers for it. I was getting a bit sick of having more and more questions I couldn't answer, but I couldn't focus on it in the here and now. I called a halt, and we found a small corner tavern to get food and drink. I took some time with the menu system, and up popped the character status window.
By statistics, we were moving up a bit, but the main stats of our jobs weren't changing very much at all. My basic stats for movement had risen, but not by much, and the gain was tapering off. That was probably from all the walking around the city we were doing. Reputations were going up in the city guilds attached to our quests, but again, they were minor improvements, and the effective XP was tapering off from doing them. I took out my character journal, a system conceit by the devs that the game world was simply too grand in scale to not allow a lot of notetaking, and did stat-math just like when I would spreadsheet my builds at home. From what I could see, the game had no true 'leveling' system. Instead, skills and attributes were built up by how you played, sort of like in Skyrim, but the same actions would not keep getting you the same degree of XP. A common enough point, or else someone could pull a South Park and just merc wolves until they hit the cap. Abilities would unlock as your stats rose, some coming online automatically like Sprint, while others you had to find a trainer for, such as the Double Knock ability for archers. From what I'd seen online, the abilities would unlock advanced jobs, and certain combinations would unlock hybrid jobs, so a Paladin would be a combination of a knight and acolyte. None of the testers had gotten that far, however, they'd just seen the possibility of it.
I noticed Shelera leaning over to look at my journal, and I smiled, "Just doing nerd stuff, plotting my progression to figure out what jobs I need."
She smiled back, "That seems weirdly normal. What are you thinking of doing?"
"Well, for now, I need to move up my abilities as a Hunter, right? Hunter eventually leads to a few choices, so I'm thinking I'll probably go for a Ranger build. That means I can train up Yndress here as a battle companion."
Yndress had been flying about with me, and sometimes resting on my shoulder, and now, she was curled up by my arm on the table as I continued. Shelera reached over and petted Yndress, "That is so cool. She's so warm. I totally should've figured out a way to get the limited edition... so what should I be leveling up?"
"Well, you're a vagabond, so you might look at something like Bounty Hunter since we're working with the militia. Combine that with another job.... huh."
"What?"
Daeva grinned, "Oh, sweetie, he just worked somethin' out. What do you need, Lugh?"
"Give me a minute. I need to go to the scrivener," I shot up and stepped out of the tavern.
It wasn't far to the scrivener where I could buy the supplies I needed. We'd just done an ink delivery there, and now, I would need paper and ink to work with. Returning, I cleared off the tavern table and laid out a large scroll used for maps, currently unmarked, "Okay, I need everyone to bring up your character pages and stand where I can read them."
Gamers generally do have a sense of when someone's worked out an exploit, and this was one of those times. They brought up their screens so I could start marking down abilities, attributes, and skills. Of note, my Scibing ability was ticking slowly upward as I laid things out. Scribing could turn into runic writing and other more arcane and mundane pursuits. What I was working on became a skill tree system, with the various jobs being grouped together. I had to move things around, and in real life I wouldn't be able to do that with ink, but in the game sense, it was pretty simple. I kept moving around my drawing, finally starting to come into a workable initial system of abilities, jobs, and other things that built off of one another. It look a bit mad, like if no one had stopped the devs on Path of Exile's skill tree, but it was there, "We're thinking about this wrong. We need to get to the barracks. I don't want to explain this twice."
Banded back up, I stopped by our newest unlock: Carriage Stations. The city was entirely too big to be running around it all the time, and for just half a silver, we could go to any other ward in the city. I signaled the coachman, handing him my flyer, "Take us to the militia barracks."
The coachman nodded sharply, "Right you are, sir."
The coaches held four, so we split between the two, and I rechecked my numbers. I was pretty certain I was right by the math, but these things didn't always pan out like you wanted, so it was best to recheck. It still seemed to be working out like I thought, but I needed Temur for a blind study of it. We got out at the barracks, a building made up of fortified walls and barred windows with internal shutters. Militiamen NPCs were standing guard out front, while we could just see some working in the training yard to the side. From what I could see, however, we were the only players here.
Temur's party arrived first, and apparently, I wasn't the only one picking up strays as two carriages emptied of people. He was running a full party as well now, and grinning in his uniquely Temur way, even if he did have draconic features now, "So, I see we're all taking in the lost little lambs?"
"I mean, sure, why not? That's how we met, so why not do it here, too?"
He nodded, "Questing went well, if a bit hum-drum, but you have a look in your eyes that says you've worked something out. You got math time!"
I nodded, "Waiting for... yeah, Khargol went off-road, I see."
Temur and I had shown up with two carriages each, only for Khargol to pull up with four, all packed. That put our new numbers at thirty-two players as he practically bounced up to us, "What?!"
We both shook our heads, "Nothing, man. Never change. I've got some news for everyone."
The full mass moved over to the side of the building so we weren't obstructing the entrance, "Party people, I worked something out at lunch."
I rolled out my map of the skills tree, "Okay, so I was going over my character screen, and did some math. I know what we need to do: We need to move up on every job."
Khargol shook his head, "Isn't that gonna leave us as jacks of all trades? We'd be running pretty average."
I gestured with my hands a bit in dismissal, "Usually, you're right, but here, it's different. The stats aren't really separated here, they're intended for cross-classing, and it's not just the combat jobs. I moved up a bit at Scribing here, and it looks like it'll be the same for crafting and gathering jobs. Move up in X, Y, and/or Z jobs and you unlock a hybrid. So like, say you move up as a blacksmith, armorer, and weaponsmith. All three have abilities building into one another, and that can unlock further abilities, other jobs, a whole classification of things we can't see yet.
"Using abilities works up the stats associated with that ability, and the higher the ability, the more XP it generates for the stats. Those stats still stay there when you do a job change, so you could be a Gladiator working up strength by working the forge."
Shelera looked over the drawing, "Okay, so you think if we take every job up, then that'll make us a lot stronger? But won't we end up with a bunch of usless stats?"
I shook my head, "No, for two primary reasons. For one, what if instead of Paladin, you went something like a Hexblade in D&D terms? Or, Shelera, you take Bounty Hunter, then build up your hunter job to Scout, and you have something akin to a Justicar class? Or Khargol, what if you master every weapon group?"
Temur's interest was peaked at mention of Hexblade, "And what is the second reason?"
I sucked in a breath, "It's a job change system. There's a job change skill, and every basic skill I've seen has upgrades, even if I can't see the end of the trees yet. The adaptive AI is going to adapt to our individual tactics, but even if all of us were playing hunters, we'd all approach hunting differently, maybe more reliant on archery, or snares, or pets. It would force the AI to keep readapting its own tactics on the fly. If we build up, we might just be able to get to something better than the sum of our parts."
Karghol nodded, "And that makes it doubly important we get going on the militia stuff. Shall we?"
The lot of us went over to the barracks, where a guard greeted us at the door, "Hold, citizens. What is your business with the thirteenth Valorian militia?"
I stepped forward, "We're here to enlist for service."
The guard perked right up, "Ah, good. Greetings and well met! I am Sergeant-at-Arms Brant. We are in need of stalwart folk to help protect Farrelston and wider Valoria in these trying times. Anbernic RG35XX Plus vs Miyoo Mini Plus: My take, half a year after purchase
Bought these handhelds roughly around the same month, the RG35XX Plus being bought near its product launch.
Beige: RG35XX Plus; Black: Miyoo Mini Plus
https://preview.redd.it/teffyclhsh5d1.jpg?width=3968&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4073fa4bb03dc3bef50de10813450535be258f65
The Anbernic's D-pad looks especially worn out. I'll elaborate in the text.
https://preview.redd.it/7hnxn0aish5d1.jpg?width=2976&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11ebac4e1592698d4dcc8d4e2124555a4f3e30c1
Basically the only purpose for buying both was to be part of "The Community™", to see how much polish these handhelds could have over time, both in stock firmware updates or in community distros.
Also I think having one of these for casual retro gaming is a pretty good way to not be bombarded by the constant internet interaction - well I sure failed this part.

TL;DR: In my particular use case, the Anbernic wins, though it is a close call.

  • Design, aesthetics: Miyoo wins, depending on your color choice. I won't mod mine.
    • If we compare the same transparent black shell, Anbernic lost a bet by using the painted NES controller font on other buttons and generic sans on ABXY. Lack of font consistency is one of the grand user interface failures of current cheap electronics.
    • If we compare the same beige shell, Anbernic has less yellowed beige color.
    • I think I like the removable battery cover on the Miyoo better.
  • Ergonomics, pocketability and hand feel: Anbernic wins, mostly
    • The Anbernic has a larger gamepad area and a thicker bottom (that's what he said), which makes holding it for long-term gaming a bit more comfortable.
    • One huge win for Anbernic is the way the area of shoulder buttons is designed. The slight bump in the middle and the larger area of the buttons in general means that you can rest your hands beneath them and won't push these shoulder buttons by mistake, or you can comfortably rest your hands on top of them without slipping off. Arguably the Miyoo's shoulder buttons look less ugly by having the same color as the rest of the shell. They rattle less. They sit flush with the shell to ensure sleekness, but I care a lot less about these aspects. In general I think the Miyoo is a slightly more pocketable handheld, but the Anbernic's slight sacrifice on that front make gameplay a lot more ergonomic.
    • Prior to this rabbit hole dive I owned an Anbernic RG350P, and the D-pad on that thing is so horrible - you can essentially push the center pivot downward - that I had severe doubts about ANY Anbernic D-pad when everyone else was praising their button feel. Which is why I'm so relieved to find that this issue is largely non-existent on the Anbernic RG35XX Plus. This Anbernic's D-pad is probably on par with an old Nintendo handheld's D-pad (compared to the GBA/GBP for example)
    • The Anbernic's face buttons feel a little mushy compared to the springy Miyoo buttons, which might be a turn off for arcade-minded people, but could be a plus for people who play games next to their sleeping bedmates for... some... reason. That hand feel doesn't make-or-break gameplay for me - you have to go to the R36s to truly understand what DOES break gameplay.
  • In-game audio and visuals:
    • Miyoo has deeper colors, but it might be overdone, as some white parts don't look white anymore. Anbernic's display is a little less saturated. Neither displays really look as good as the unreasonably crisp panel on the otherwise bargain-bin r36s.
    • Both have the classic speaker "pop" sounds when its power is cut off, but it's less concerningly loud on the Anbernic.
    • Anbernic's rumble motor sounds deeper and less annoying.
  • Stock firmware experience: both have janks and trade-offs, but I like Miyoo's a tiny bit better without tinkering
    • Miyoo stock UI has better color design and better fonts, as well as being generally more lightweight and snappy. The big issue is their simple in-game menu NOT working with RetroArch menu in the slightest. If you make a savestate in the simple menu, that doesn't translate to the same savestate in the RetroArch menu. Still, I appreciate that they decided to not bog us down with RetroArch, which comes with its own design banalities. Also, many games have stutters, which might be because they forced to turn on netplay.
    • A pretty dire issue with Miyoo is the single SD card setup, and while the tiny 32MB internal flash has the basic operating system and UI elements, all emulators and additional functionalities live on the stock SD card. If you use a new card without backing up data from the stock SD card, stock firmware won't play games. And if the internal flash dies (believe me, people have found out), the machine is bricked. Anbernic's 2-card setup means you can put all your games and saves on one SD card, and all operating system elements on another.
    • Anbernic used the same outdated MP4 player-era sound effects and fonts which really made it look 15 years old in the worst way, and the menu navigation is a lot less responsive too. At first stock OS had no subfolder under platform/console folders which made game navigation a chore, but it seems they have since fixed it and added a lot of pretty good polishes all things considered. Neither options have the most up-to-date RetroArch versions (v1.10 as of now, compared to v1.18 officially)
    • Neither stock OSes give you a lot of joy of tinkering. Miyoo is kinda obvious when everything lives on the internal flash. With the Anbernic it is [doable], but far from easy, especially when most of the system files live in an EXT4 partition you can't easily use on Windows, and the stock firmware SD card image is partitioned such that you cannot expand the userspace partition to put more ROMs, which is one of the most stupid mistakes you can make as a linux engineer.
  • Community OS experience: all have janks and trade-offs again, but OnionOS has one trump card
    • For the Anbernic, right now I prefer using MuOS, primarily because it's simple, it boots fast, setting RetroArch up doesn't get in the way much. However if you want to use it as a potentially versatile gaming box for multiplayer purposes, currently Knulli does it the best as it supports more of the Anbernic's peripherals.
    • For the Miyoo Mini Plus, I wish the simple but fully-featured Allium launcher could gain some momentum, but right now OnionOS on Miyoo just wrangled some of the best feature-sets of emulation community, primarily the Game Switcher menu. It's basically an integration of several RetroArch features and some rare ones - quick savestate on exit, optional auto savestate loading on launch, quick screenshot, playtime tracker, a list of recently played games, and a snappy menu. It makes you feel like you can multitask on games despite the fact that you can't. Apparently OnionOS came from trying to merge a precursor to MinUI and the Game Switcher menu. Right call, because that functionality alone is unbeatable. I wish the EmulationStation frontend of higher-end handhelds can implement this, a more comprehensive "recent list" than the current "recent list." Anything else is a nice bonus like netplay, RetroAchievements (RetroArch itself handles these), remote file transfer and battery tracker - these mostly have been underused by me or have been used by other handheld distros already.
    • An increasing usage of cost-less amenities includes the default shadevideo filter being "sharp bilinear" or normal2x or "bicubic" on Onion. Keep it up, this is the best default shader for sharp pixels in most non-integer scaling situations without shimmering.
  • Feature set and power with community OS usage: RG35XX wins by a mile, but your mileage may vary in how much power you need.
    • CPU power: if we use the latest mGBA RetroArch core, Miyoo struggles with some parts of "DrillDozer" or "Mario & Luigi" and sometimes drops speed, while it doesn't happen on the Anbernic. In the SNES9x emulator, some games like Kirby Super Star or Yoshi's Island will eat up a lot of the Miyoo's CPU resources and leave no room for fast-forwarding, while the Anbernic does it easier. Of course, if you don't mind them at much, then the extra oomph won't matter too much to you.
    • Peripherals: the Anbernic has HDMI out, Bluetooth, WiFi and USB host support, while the Miyoo only has WiFi. On the Anbernic side, currently the Knulli firmware uses the peripherals most seamlessly, while stock is a lot more Janky. Knulli has native 1080p output in RetroArch while others only have blown-up 480p in RetroArch, which you'll be able to tell VERY quickly. If you enjoy using a handheld as a home console box with an external gamepad, the Anbernic RG35XXPLUS with Knulli is probably the cheapest to do so and do so decently. Knulli is also the only firmware to have Bluetooth AUDIO. Recommended for those who want all the hardware amenities.
  • Long-term issues
    • Admittedly I did end up playing on the Anbernic a lot, but this did bring some issues that I had to contact customer support for. Mostly the wear-and-tear on the D-pad and a faulty display. You see, I play Apotris a lot, and using the known Tetris strategies apparently means the UP and RIGHT keys on the D-pad gets a lot of rubbing, and now they look worn-out. In trying to disassemble it to check what could be the issue, some mishandling caused the screen to develop dead pixel lines. The customer support first gave me a replacement D-pad, and later agreed to replace my unit's screen by having the handheld sent back to their factory, but the unit returned with a WRONG D-pad that's likely for the original RG35XX! Now I'm still using the old D-pad, rotated 180 degrees, and worn out on both corners by now. Apparently not a lot of people encountered the same issue, but it's still worth bringing up regardless. TOP TIP: Take advantage of customer support while you can!! Don't disassemble your new-fangled handhelds to troubleshoot unless you know 100% what you're doing!

What features I ended up using/liking a lot, and what plans I have for these handhelds going forward

  • Miyoo Mini Plus: OnionOS's Game Switcher and generally faster navigation. Snappy face buttons. Theme creation.
  • Anbernic RG35XX Plus: Really good ergonomics for long-term play, as much as a vertical handheld can provide. WiFi for local netplay and SSH tinkering potential. Bluetooth audio.
  • Going forward: For now I don't have a lot of reasons to really keep the Miyoo Mini Plus. I plan to create an OnionOS theme for it with my hand-drawn artwork, and later sell the Miyoo to someone who needs it more than I do. But I will miss the Game Switcher. The Anbernic is a keeper, despite the busted-up D-pad. Maybe I'll pester customer support again to have 2 or 3 backup ones. Here's to hoping that GarlicOS makes it work again - hardware acceleration is apparently in the works according to Black-Seraph, and more custom firmware options like Rocknix and even GammaOS Core will keep things exciting for sure.

2024.06.09 08:44 Gizm0Guru Sonos Ace - Hard to Hate, Hard to Love (Review)

Sonos Ace - Hard to Hate, Hard to Love (Review)
I took the plunge and pre-ordered the Ace, and I’ve been putting it through its paces for the last couple of days. I’m pretty deep in the Sonos ecosystem, and I’m a big headphone collector, so I’m tossing in my thoughts here for those thinking about taking the plunge on these $450 cans.
TL:DR - the Aces come in at a high price point in the market at $450. At that price, these may be a tough sell for many. The overall sound is very good - but not definitively better than the category leaders in the market, many of which cost substantially less. Early/Gen1 bugs will leave some thinking that the product is half baked or leaves them out entirely, especially Android users. All that said, this is still a Sonos product, so there are enough things done well about the Ace that it could be a decent proposition - especially if you catch a sale and/or after upcoming software updates. Hard to hate, hard to love.
Now to give some context and get into the deeper review. As mentioned, I am pretty deep in the Sonos ecosystem because I’ve steadily added to my setups over the years. I started with a 5.1 system, Playbar + Sub + two Play 1s about 10 years ago (now in my kid’s playroom) and now I have Sonos in my whole home - another Arc-based 5.1 setup (media room), a Playbase 5.1 setup (living room), a Beam (bedroom), Move (outdoor patio) and a Roam (travel).
I am also a headphone collector and have 22 pairs, ranging from “consumer” stuff like the Ace, AirPods Pro/Max - and all the way up to high-end reference gear from the likes of Audeze, Sennheiser, Meze, Focal, etc. I listen to many types of music, from hip-hop to classical, and I also do quite a bit of gaming. I have a young kiddo so have the need to use headphones for TV viewing pretty often.
Starting with the overall design, comfort, control and included accessories - Sonos does a mostly solid job. The design isn’t overly striking in any way, but it is a well-refined “standard headphone” type of design with clean lines. The Aces are light while still feeling solidly built, have a smooth but appropriately firm sliding hinge for headband fit, have easily removable pads, and while they don’t completely collapse, they get compact enough to fit in the included zip-up hard shell carrying case.
The respectable carrying case isn’t the only included accessory. A USB-C cable is included for both charging and USB-C audio (no included wall charger), and a USB-C to 3.5mm cable is included as well for plugging into analog sources. The inclusion of these cables and capabilities gives the Aces a lot of general versatility and are good things at this price point.
The design lends itself to an overall very comfortable headphone. The band has a very soft cushion and connects to the cups in a way that distributes the weight very well. The cushions of the cups are a well-padded and very comfortable faux leather situation with a firm but not too imposing pressure on the head. These are easy to wear for hours without discomfort for me. I will note that while everything is fine for me, the cups are not particularly large, and the pads are angled, so people with large ears may find their ears touching the cups a bit.
The controls are also well designed. Sonos chose to avoid any type of touch controls with the Aces and has just three buttons - one for power and Bluetooth pairing, one for ANC/transparency/on-device voice assistant, and one for volume and track/audio source/phone call control. It reads more complicated than it is for the controls to become second nature. It is a very good overall control scheme. It’s not quite as good as the Digital Crown design of the AirPods Max, but I’d give it a strong second to that.
When it comes to hardware design and general ease of use, Sonos has always done well across its product range, and that continues here. Grade: A
Sound is one of the most subjective/difficult things to review, and I’m going to try and be as neutral as possible and use some good points of comparison. Overall, the Aces perform fairly well for the product category, and while they bring their own approach to the table, it is very much debatable whether what they bring in terms of sound is worth the fairly high $450 entry point versus $450 for the AirPods Max, $299 for the Sennheiser Momentum 4, $328 for the Sony WH-1000XM5 or $379 for the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra - all very mature and respectable market leaders with similar product features in this category. There are wireless headphones out there that are priced higher like the Focal Bathys ($799) or the Bowers and Wilkins Px8 ($529), though one could argue that those are catering to the luxury and/or audiophile market (all Amazon US prices as of this writing), where the sound expectations have a higher hurdle to overcome.
Let’s first talk about tonal balance. The general tuning of the Aces is very similar to all of the other products I mentioned above, which is a version of a “V-Shaped” tune; bass is boosted, and treble is boosted, creating what has become commonly known as a “fun” type of tuning that I call warm and sparkly. While all of the products I mentioned do this in some way, each does it slightly differently, resulting in a slightly different overall sound presentation, the Aces are no exception. Let’s dive in.
The bass on the Aces is very noticeably boosted throughout the entire band, and the biggest boost is in the sub-bass region. This means the Aces bring slam, boom and rumble to the listen. It could be argued that these get into bass head territory, and I believe those that like bass would be happy with the Aces in that department. While the bass is certainly very prominent, it is not overly loose and still maintains a decent level of control. It is a thick but fairly clean bass. It hits thicker than the AirPods Max but less so than the Momentums and XM5s. If you like to feel those big explosions and soundtrack moments in your TV viewing and gaming, the Aces will fit the bill, as the depth the bass can reach is impressive. The downside to the bass tuning is that since the entire bass band is boosted, if you are listening to a track that has a lot of action in the bass region, it can be overwhelming and lack detail. It can also lead to some bleed into the lower midrange on certain tracks.
It is the midrange on the Aces that surprised me the most, though when I think about how Sonos likely dedicated as much thought to how these sound for TV as to how they sound for music, it makes sense. In a usual “V-shaped” tuning, it is the midrange that is the least present or gets a bit left out of the mix. This often results in vocals and many common core instruments and pieces of the mix somewhat veiled, and is the reason many audiophiles don’t like the V-shaped tuning. The Aces mostly avoid this. The midrange balance is pretty on-target with the exception of a bit of a dip in the upper mids. This means that you get a very full-bodied core sound when listening to the Aces, and that’s a very good thing. Male vocals are very often put on full display because of the added warmth of the bass boost. Female vocals can sometimes take a bit of a back seat, along with instruments like guitar, as a result of the dip in the upper mids, but to notice either of these, you’d really have to be a focused listener (more on why later). The story of the midrange is that it’s better executed than many in the category. This translates well to TV/gaming as well, as dialogue is typically easy to make out, even when there’s lots of other action going on.
The treble on the Ace, as mentioned, is definitely boosted, but in a targeted way that overall, works. I mentioned that the upper midrange where female vocals and some higher instruments live is a bit de-emphasized. Well, the treble is boosted in the “sparkle” region, where sounds like symbols reside - as well as the “s” and “t” sounds in vocals. This boost makes details shine a bit more, and it also hides the under-emphasis of the upper midrange a bit because it still pulls forward the sparkle of all vocals. This upper midrange and treble boost combination is also seen in some well-regarded higher end headphones from the likes of Sennheiser and Meze Audio, just to name a few, so kudos to Sonos for pretty solid execution on the treble. The downside to boosting this region is that some people’s ears are sensitive to this frequency range, and can find sounds like snare drums, loud symbols and the like in this region to be grating to listen to for long periods of time. I don’t find the boost to be extreme, but it is there, so those that are treble-sensitive, just something to note.
This is a good point to make note that this has all been related to the default tonal balance of the Aces right out of the box. Connecting to the Sonos app does allow you to adjust the frequency response - though it is a very basic EQ just like other Sonos products - a simple treble/bass slider. Most of the options at this price point offer greater level of control with a at least a 3-5 band EQ, but it’s better than nothing.
Last in the sound department is a bit about the staging and technical performance. Again, the Aces do what they do fairly well for the category, but whether what they do is definitively better than their peers is debatable. The sound that comes from the Aces is crisp and clear, and one of the most immediately noticeable aspects of the presentation is the good horizontal spread of the pieces of the mix - everything is placed very well with pretty good separation. The sound stage isn’t overly wide by any means, and we aren’t talking about a 3D/holographic sound stage (unless you’re using Dolby Atmos, which I’ll come back to), but the sound does indeed go ear-to-ear horizontally. Even so, the focus of the Aces is always front and center. The stage is very center-focused and intimate, with the edges of the left and right channel wrapping around to the ears. It is a pretty in your face presentation that works well. The center position also has a small but distinct depth and separation from the mix, which is impressive for a wireless headphone (I had to wonder if the fact that the inside of the pads of the Aces are angled contributes to this). The fact that the stage is so center-focused also keeps the vocals and heart of the mix emphasized, and this pairs well with its midrange tuning. This presentation also is another testament to being well-designed for both music and TV listening.
I am not always a fan of Dolby Atmos for headphones, as what the technology can do is often overhyped, but the Aces do handle Atmos mixed sources (or multichannel sources when using TV Swap) very well. It essentially makes the sound stage a bit bigger, along with more precise positioning of the pieces of the mix. I find it best for video content and hit or miss for music.
The overall sound package that the Aces deliver is solid, well-executed, V-shaped listen. The sound is warm, crisp, clean, dynamic/lively and is presented very well, in a way that will work for many genres of music, TV and gaming. The aces definitely deserve to be in the conversation among the market leaders, but each of these market leaders also have strong overall presentations that are arguably just as good, if not better - and allow for a bit more control with more EQ personalization options. The Ace’s premium price relative to this competition has to be taken into consideration as a point of comparison in evaluating overall sound. Grade: B+ / A-
I realize that when evaluating a pair of wireless headphones nowadays, the technology feature set is a big factor as well, and that’s where things get even more interesting for the Aces. This is because depending on your particular Sonos setup, mobile device setup, and general home listening setup, the technological features of the Aces are various levels of either lacking or unfinished.
Let’s start with the good. Regardless of the device you’re using to connect, you get to experience the active noise cancellation and transparency modes of the Aces, and both are very good. The noice cancelling mode isn’t quite as good as Bose, and the transparency mode isn’t quite as good as Apple, but both are respectable compared to anything else, a good showing. You can also enable head tracking in the Sonos app when connected to any device audio via Bluetooth, which for Android users may be an added convenience, depending on your device (for Apple users, this is a feature built in option at the system level between any iOS device and AirPods). You also get a fairly good mix of codec support, including some lossless options if your device supports it.
Now, the not so good. When Sonos announced the Aces, the company very accurately talked about how headphones were one of the most requested products of the community, and everyone in this sub can probably attest to that. But what has been released, at this point in time especially, IMO misses the mark by not doing the we want the headphones to do most - connect seamlessly to our larger Sonos systems, and on top of this, it highlights the challenge of forced obsolescence when dealing with home theater speakers and advanced technology in the same package.
The best way to illustrate this is to state plainly that the Aces are first and foremost Bluetooth headphones. They connect to your Sonos system indirectly via the app on your Bluetooth device, not directly to the system itself via WiFi (mostly). This means a few things. If you’re envisioning using the Sonos app as a hub main hub for navigating your music library across sources and handing it off between your Sonos speakers and headphones, that’s not in the cards with the Ace (ha). As a matter of fact, you can only use the Sonos app to play and pause media playing on the Ace, not select and navigate.
If your goal is using the Aces to listen to your TV, it can be done via a feature called TV Swap, but the situation isn’t exactly pretty for a lot of people. You can press a button on the Aces or within the Sonos app to trigger a direct WiFi connection between a TV-connected Sonos speaker, but at launch and of this writing, it only works on the top-of-the-line Sonos Arc soundbar. This support is coming via software update to the Beam and Ray at an unannounced date. This means that for folks like me that have been building a Sonos ecosystem for years, arguably the most loyal and valuable customers of Sonos (and the ones requesting this product for years), the usefulness of the Aces may be substantially reduced. Out of the four rooms that have Sonos sound bars in my home, again, all purchased within the last ten years or less, only two will ever work with the Aces. My Playbase and Playbar are forever excluded, and if you’re using something like the Sonos Amp to connect a turntable or other device to your Sonos system, you’re also out of luck. If you are an Android user, the picture is even uglier, as the TV Swap feature doesn’t work AT ALL, meaning that until an update arrives, also at an as yet unannounced date, the Aces are essentially a regular pair of Bluetooth headphones for Android users.
For me, this is the most disappointing thing about the Aces. Unless you are a fairly recent inductee to the Sonos ecosystem, the Aces probably are really more general Bluetooth headphones that can connect to a Sonos speakeTV than Sonos headphones that also connect to Bluetooth devices. This is in a world where there are certainly other options for connecting headphones to your TV’s audio. Many smart TV’s and set top boxes now offer a direct Bluetooth connection, and if you have an Apple TV, using AirPods via AirPlay is a much more seamless experience. All of these things, combined with the recent revamp of the Sonos app that took away features and left many unhappy in the name of updating the app for future products (including the Ace), should make you think twice about if the Aces are the best way to get TV audio via headphones for you and your setup - and about the longevity of your particular Sonos setup in general. I realize there are technical challenges that make better Sonos system integration a challenge, and that for some, the issue about older products isn’t an issue at all, but it is worth bringing to light for those making a long-term purchase decision.
The second most disappointing thing about the launch of the Aces is the continued trend of companies releasing products at full price that are essentially unfinished. I already discussed that for Android users at launch, there is no TV Swap at all, so these are effectively just regular Bluetooth headphones with no Sonos system integration at all. I also touched on the fact that TV swap support for the Beam and Ray is missing for all platforms. There is also a very cool-sounding form of TruePlay that Sonos is calling TrueTune. This will calibrate the room, so that when using TV Swap to listen to audio, you’ll get an even more “immersive” listening experience that takes Spatial Audio and head tracking to the next level by trying to actually mirror the acoustics of the room as if you had no headphones on at all. I can’t report on that because, you guessed it…the feature is coming at a yet unannounced date. On top of this, there are bugs out of the gate. Sometimes my Aces don’t show up in the Sonos app, and TV Swap sometimes doesn’t trigger or glitches out.
All of this makes judging the technological features of the Aces difficult. On the side of being Bluetooth headphones - the ANC, connection possibilities/versatility, multi-device connection, head tracking/spatial audio support, and battery life, the Aces are a strong showing. On the Sonos side, your experience will be highly dependent on your current Sonos setup, source setup, how you like to navigate your music library, your level of patience to receive updates, and your trust/level of care for when/if Sonos will release an update that breaks something between your Aces and your existing setup or releases a new speaker that doesn’t work with the Aces. These are all considerations that again make the $450 asking price seem steep when there are other options in the market with equal or greater capabilities for a substantially lesser price. Grade: C-
Overall, I view the Aces as a solid pair of Bluetooth headphones, and as Bluetooth headphones for day-to-day needs, they are worth considering, though arguably not the best value in terms of overall sound quality and features. The AirPods Max, Sennheiser Momentum 4 Wireless, Sony WH-1000XM5 and Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra all bring comparatively good sound and feature sets at the same or a substantially lower price. Whether that premium is worth it because of the Sonos interplay, well, your mileage may vary, depending on your setup. They have the potential to be pretty great for some, while at the same time being annoying for some - hard to hate, hard to love. I hope this review was helpful for those taking a look at these or building a Sonos ecosystem in general. Happy listening!

2024.06.09 08:42 iwasneverhere43 Can we have a reasonable discussion?

First of all, full disclosure, I made a hot headed post yesterday that ended up being more divisive than anything, so I have deleted it. So, why am I posting again? Well, it's because a few good points came from it that I had overlooked, and I'm going to swallow my pride and admit I may have jumped the gun. Unfortunately, it seems I'm not the only one, so maybe now that we've had a day to cool off a bit, and possibly downed a few (or more than a few) wobbly pops, maybe we can have a more reasonable conversation about different viewpoints?
Reading the responses I received yesterday was informative to say the least, but what I got from it was that there are 3 main reasons for investing in GME, and while some may have more than one reason, I think it comes down to those 3 if we each answered honestly about what is most important to us: 1. A MOASS. 2. Gamestop transforming itself into a superpower long term. 3. Market reform and screwing shorts.
Now, my priority is #1. End of story. Would I like to see the other two happen as well? Definitely, just not at the expense of the MOASS. That was my goal when I first invested, and it's been my goal for over 3 years now - that's never going to change. That HAS to be my goal, given that I have a chronic illness that could steal my mobility at any time my body so chooses, I'm turning 50 later this year, I don't own a home, and my bank account resembles a desert. I just don't have 20 years to see a decent return on my investment... So yes, I understand why RC is doing what he's doing, and I get it, but I don't appreciate being accused of shilling if I complain when he takes actions that can potentially impact my goals here.
So let's talk about #2 in the list. For those who most want that, you're probably younger and have the time to hold on for the next 20 years, but try and understand that isn't the case for everyone. What RC is currently doing aligns perfectly with that goal, but it's a long time, and the world could change substantially in the amount of time it's going to take, so it's no more a guarantee than a squeeze would be. It's just as much a gamble as #1, just a different timeframe.
That brings us to #3. I get it, I really do, but for that to happen, the MOASS must happen. Nobody is going to prison unless it does, and nothing about the market will change either because there won't be a reason to do so.
Right now there is a lot of conflict between apes due to these differences, but not much reasonable discussion of how whatever is happening will affect the outcome of whatever it is that we hoped to gain with our investments. Instead, those who want the MOASS above all else are upset because every time they sell more shares, as it could reduce the chances of a squeeze, and are called shills for not trusting RC. Meanwhile, those who want to see Gamestop become a formidable force are zen about holding, but aren't too concerned about more shares in the market as it supports Gamestop's long term growth. For them, Gamestop building a big war chest is more important than a squeeze right now.
So can we please just get our views on these out in the open in a respectful way, while not calling each other names, and perhaps calmly discuss the issues with each view and how they affect the others, then consider where we can find common ground so we can have a community that isn't jumping at shadows and fighting all the time? For those who have been here since the beginning, do you not remember how and why it began? Do you not remember raising money for the family of a fallen ape, or donating to try and save ACTUAL apes? How we laughed while staring intently at charts and trying to figure out how to combat the fuckery? How we all celebrated the wins and spoke out against bullshit regulations? Can this sub find a way back there while understanding that not everyone here has exactly the same main goal?
Anyway, I'm heading to bed as soon as I respond to the auto mod, so I'm not ignoring anyone who comments, I'm just sleeping. But let's please talk about these things rationally with a bit of empathy for the situations and goals of others here like we used to do.
Have a good night all. I'm off to smoke a bowl and get some sleep.

Yard Sale Scare [Pet tax included because she's relevant to the story]
Hey Joel and fellow Let's Read fanatics, I'm a long time fan of your narrations. Funny enough, the stories I'm sending in happened yesterday and today, and I was listening to some of your videos at the time.
So, to set the scene, today and yesterday I (f) hosted a yard sale. It went very well, I had fun, made a friend and even found something cool at a yard sale across the street from mine.
The yard sale was mixed. I had some expensive things near me (games, consoles, electronics, dishes, pristine/unused name brand stuff, etc) and some less expensive (sold for $1 or less) items scattered around the lawn like generic t-shirts, hoodies, movies and miscellaneous toys.
Friday (yesterday) was uneventful (sales wise) with some vague interest but no buyers. I set up at 8 and sat around until around 3:00pm, when I packed up. There was a storm due around then anyway, but that wasn't what drove me to pack everything up so soon.
I believe it was 2:15pm when it happened. I was sitting outside with my dog (don't worry, dog tax will be provided) when I noticed a man across the street behaving suspiciously.
Now, the yard is in an L shape that wraps around the house. On the left side facing away from the house is a busy street, and across that street is some more homes. Most of the people in those homes are elderly or otherwise vulnerable. I was in my seat facing that side due to my signs and tables being set up along that sidewalk.
Anyway. The man was waving his hands around, looking at the sky and skipping around like a child. I watched as he went to someone's door and began to knock on it erratically, talking to himself, and making a motion like he was praying. When nobody answered, he just walked down the porch. He then sort of waved at me when he saw I was there and casually moved to the next house to repeat this routine.
I then realized the house he was going to had their garage wide open. The elderly lady who lived there has two outdoor cats and I realized she must have forgotten to close it when she got the food.
The man seemed to forget I was there for a moment, and went to walk into the garage. He then froze and slowly turned to look in my direction.
Now, to explain something before I go on, my dog is exactly medium sized. She's about up to my knees height wise, and on her back legs her head reaches my chest. Despite her size, she has a scary bark and massive teeth. She's a big, playful sweetheart though and wouldn't hurt a fly.
She was sitting under my chair because it was hot out and was obscured. I feel this is important to note.
Back to the story. The guy turned to look at me, then began to walk toward the street to cross and come toward me.
I immediately stood up, trying to make myself look more alert. I'm 5'6 and I don't look small by any means. I've done taekwondo for years, and am by no means scrawny. I think my adrenaline kicked in about now, because I felt pretty confident standing up like that, but all that confidence felt like it drained from my body seconds later.
At first, he didn't seem to care about my front which I'll admit, really scared me because at this point he was on the sidewalk near where I was seated now.
When he crossed the sidewalk onto my lawn though, my dog came out from under my chair and growled at him, baring her teeth and everything.
This dog is an absolute sweetheart, and I've never seen her genuinely bare her teeth at anyone if it wasn't for playing. She plays rough, but I've never seen her behave that way.
The guy immediately stopped and looked at her, then just smiled at me for a few minutes before backing up and, get this- skipping away along the sidewalk to leave.
I was just frozen for a moment, wondering what the hell just happened. At some point though, I decided to call my dad and keep him on the phone while I started to pack up the valuables in my sale. I also kept my knife out in case something else happened but thankfully nothing did. The guy was gone, and the most that happened later was a little rain that afternoon.
Today I set up again to sell, and yet another odd thing happened. Today I kept a weapon near me to be on the safe side (my knife and some wooden Kali/Escrima sticks) and warned my neighbors who were having a yard sale about what happened yesterday.
Today, I was just relaxing during the last hour I planned to keep the sale up. My grandparents (who I live with) had gone to the store so I was alone out there. I had just put my dog back inside since it was too hot for her, and was listening to the podcast (specifically one with a story about a schizophrenic roommate) while I watched people walk by.
At some point, a very thin man carrying a Walmart bag and a jug of water came to my corner. He was talking to himself on the way over, and when he got to the tables, I greeted him with a smile as one does.
He then immediately launched into a whole spiel about how he loves, loves LOVES the bracelets I had on display and asked me over and over if I made them. I'd made them for a shop a while ago. They were ATLA (Avatar the Last Airbender) themed. I remember specifically he picked one I made with blood bending in mind (blue and white beads with pearl beads surrounding a clear, red one).
I told him as much, and let him know they were just 25 cents, and casually asked if he had someone in mind to give it to while he searched his pockets for a quarter. I should have guessed by his initial behavior that he was gonna launch into another thing.
He began going on about how he was single, and how he wished he had someone to give the bracelet to but he didn't. He then suddenly changed the topic asking if I played guitar. I should have gently sent him on his way and told him no, but for some reason my dumbass told him I did.
I play electric and acoustic. He then immediately got right up close and told me to get my guitar so he could play me a song. I politely declined, holding onto one of my kali sticks in case he didn't back off. He then got really pushy, walking me closer to the front door before I gave him a stern no and asked him for payment on the bracelet. He just smiled and handed me a pile of coins before going to grab his water jug and Walmart bag.
I didn't feel as threatened by this guy despite him being more invasive because I felt more prepared to deal with him. Despite his behavior, which I suspect had to do with drug use since meth/similar stumulants and their respective junkies are popular in my area, he wasn't aggressively walking toward me and backed off when I was firm unlike the first guy. I grew up around drug addicts because of my mom, so I know what the behavior is like, and I'm pretty sure this guy took something before heading out.
I later found out this same guy borderline harassed my neighbor and was actually pretty aggressive toward them. He was pushy, and threatened to "leave a note" on their door.
Anyway, there's my back to back weird encounters at a yard sale stories.
I decided to write this out for two reasons. One, to warn people about how weird people can be, especially in environments like yard and garage sales, and two, because writing things down and talking about it helps me process.
It didn't strike me until just an hour ago that the guy being weird on Friday (yesterday) possibly meant to do me harm, but my dog being there possibly prevented that.

2024.06.09 06:26 relationshipguy254 Toxic Relationships: Why You Think You Can’t Live Without Them?

Being stuck in a toxic relationship can feel incredibly confusing and soul-sucking. You might feel like you can't live without the person, even though they cause you constant pain and stress. Despite all the trauma and dread they bring into your life, a part of you feels deeply connected to them, almost like you're trapped in their gravitational pull.
Even when you try to gather the courage to leave for good, intrusive thoughts start spinning in your mind: "But how will I survive alone?" "They're all I know - who am I without them?" "I can't bear the loneliness and change." This kind of anxious dependency can feel impossible to escape, trapping you indefinitely in that painful environment where someone exploits you for their own selfish needs.
You might even have the best support network and, on a physical level, in terms of money, friends, and family support, you don’t really need them. But the thought of not being able to survive without them still persists. So, why does it feel that way?
The Comfortable Broken Chair Analogy
The answer lies in the comfort we get when we get used to something. However toxic it is, that relationship has become more like that comfortable broken chair. It might be uncomfortable and even hurt you when you sit on it, and you logically know that you need to throw it away and replace it.
But that’s the hardest thing you can do, as you feel the wobbly chair has been an important part of your life. You’ve been through a lot together, and you cannot just replace it like that. The idea of selling that chair and getting another one seems like too much work, as you’d have to shop around, move out, and look for something better, and all those activities before you get another one.

Strangely, the broken chair has its own kind of comfort and convenience, even though it’s causing you a lot of pain. It’s less tedious to just persevere with it for ‘another year,’ and that’s how a toxic relationship feels.
You really get to the point where you feel you’ve gotten used to it and believe that you can’t manage to survive without it. When your beliefs have adapted to a place where you’re constantly invalidated, they will feed you all sorts of rationalizations and excuses to keep you stuck there.
After all, they’ve become part of your identity, and that identity will do whatever it takes to survive. It will look for ways to survive in a hurtful environment instead of looking for ways to escape it. You start to anticipate the familiar psychological and mental pain of the broken chair and even convince yourself that you can handle it.
Even when the pain becomes unbearable, our mind stills tricks us to sticking to it because it’s a narrative that has been deeply ingrained in our psyche ever since you were young.
The only way to break free is to become very aware of the unconscious attachments keeping us stuck in that toxic situation. It’s about really asking ourselves questions about those negative beliefs and outrightly calling them out as false beliefs. Your true essence is that of joy and bliss. Those beliefs are just preventing you from seeing that you weren't really born that way or that you come from a ‘cursed generation’; those are just beliefs bred from other beliefs.
Question their legitimacy, and slowly but surely, you will be removing the dirt from your eyes so that you can see that you can survive without them and even go beyond surviving to thriving. Those beliefs limit your possibilities and the options you have once you leave the relationship. But once you see beyond them, you will realize that there are a lot of options for you and that even a healthy relationship is within reach. You can definitely survive without them; you just have to keep going.

2024.06.09 06:07 GrammarYahtzee123 Allow me, if you will, to gush about possibly the most impressive ZinniArt to date

Allow me, if you will, to gush about possibly the most impressive ZinniArt to date
Looking back at the featured artworks of the past, I stumbled across one in particular where one small detail has rendered it one of the most impeccable feats I've seen in relation to Zinnia.
Up to this point, all of the digital art I've drawn and featured on this subreddit has been done on my New 3DS XL using the app Colors! 3D. Besides its selling point, the ability to create 3D illustrations, its features are modest but more than enough to serve me at my level. Despite not having certain quality of life items like the bucket brush or inbuilt photo editing tools, what it does have are multiple layers which can be used and fused to quickly create detailed, colored images.
Think of this as the usual approach to digital art, akin to a painter working on several clear, acrylic canvases and transferring them on top of each other at the end of the process.
Now let's talk about the work seen in Daily ZinniArt #30. Here it is again:
\"Through the cold night, there is always the warmth of a dragon\"
Notice that watermark in the bottom right corner. Not only was I not paying attention to it when I first saw this image, but that naturally also meant I totally overlooked what it said. The katakana is a Japanese transliteration of Pokémon Art Academy, an app released in 2014 for the 3DS that was meant to teach its user how to draw various Pokémon from up to Gen 6 at a fundamental level. However, like any art app should, it also featured a 'free paint' mode that would allow you to draw whatever you want, which is presumably how this image came to be.
Here's the thing about drawing on a 3DS: it's not really that great.
While the dual-screen layout is awesome for cross-referencing between stylus and output at any given moment, the actual reason I default to it is because it uses a resistive touchscreen instead of a capacitive one. This means it's triggered by pressure instead of conductivity in oil-filled skin, which is why your fingernail works better than your finger on the 3DS specifically. (I prefer this for its close resemblance to the feeling of a pencil against paper that is exceptionally difficult to replicate using a smartphone and stylus.)
Besides that, its screens suffer from low resolution size, and brightness, as well as poor color accuracy, all of which don't make for great tools for highly precise works like the one shown above. All of those problems, however, are only exacerbated by the fact that Pokémon Art Academy doesn't have a layer system of any kind at all.
This means the image you see above had to have been drawn on a single frame of reference, just as one would paint on a single canvas, on a barely 4 inch touchscreen. To put into perspective how absurd that is, if the artist were constantly using the app's zoom function in order to maximize their margin for error and precision, to create something of this scope would be akin to painting a masterpiece on a sticky note while constantly looking through a 3x magnifying glass. All while using a brush (or in this case, stylus) with a head the size of a crayon's.
Only adding to this feat is the fact that this is one image out of three. The other two are no less spectacular:
This genuinely chilling take on Dusknoir,
and this vivid depiction of Mega Aggron's overwhelming strength show a mastery of this incredibly delicate craft.
I've known artists who poke and jab at their phone with nothing but their fingers and churn out awesome pictures, but to me for this person to have used possibly the most blunt tool for digital art I can think of and making works I could never fathom comparing to is worthy of as much praise as I can give in a single post.
Please check them out on pixiv if you haven't already. They're still active to this day, posting fascinating cyborg/mech designs that are worth your attention and then some. Also, feel free to check out more artwork from other talented artists using this geriatric app for wonderful purposes using the tag on pixiv.
Thank you, Daiju; your skills are remarkable.

2024.06.09 06:00 AutoModerator Weekly Q&A - All Questions Go Here (Especially Tourists and New Residents)

This is the place for anyone to ask questions about Amsterdam. If you are a tourist visiting Amsterdam, you are moving to or recently arrived in Amsterdam, or you just have a basic question about life in Amsterdam and want some advice, this is the place to post your question. This post is refreshed every week on Sunday. Please feel free to repost in subsequent weeks.
READ THE WIKI FIRST. The people answering questions are locals who want to share the city they love with visitors, but only with people who make an effort. Read at least the Essential Tourist Information in our world-famous wiki before you ask a question. Otherwise, you may be told to go back and read it. The wiki is written by us, and updated when relevant. If the entries are old it's because nothing has changed.
HOTELS ARE EXPENSIVE AND WE DON'T HAVE GOOD ADVICE ON THEM. Because we live here, we don't know what the best hotels are. Amsterdam is one of the most touristed cities in the world and has the highest hotel prices in Europe. The city is deliberately trying to reduce tourism by raising the prices. There really isn't a secret "cheap" solution. Most "Airport" hotels are not connected to the Airport and will be more trouble getting to than it's worth.
TOURISTS CAN PURCHASE MARIJUANA, DESPITE WHAT YOU READ IN FOREIGN PRESS. Understand that the coffeeshops are just a tiny part of Amsterdam, so posts that treat Amsterdam like it's the Las Vegas of drugs sometimes get a negative response. We're happy to give you advice about coffeeshops and to discuss drug policy. The experts are our friends at /AmsterdamEnts, ask them the big questions.
WE DON'T HELP WITH ILLEGAL STUFF AND WILL BAN YOU FOR ASKING. We will not help you with things that are clearly illegal. Coffeeshops caught selling to minors get shut down and everyone loses their jobs. Authorities check for people smuggling marijuana out of the country. Hard drugs are illegal and so is asking for or selling them on Reddit.
WE DON'T ALLOW TICKET SALES OR TRADING. We do not allow selling, buying, or trading tickets on /Amsterdam due to the high rate of fraud. You should do everything on ticketswap.nl. We're aware that is difficult to get tickets to Anne Frank, van Gogh, etc. We have no solutions for you, sorry.
WE PROBABLY DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT but you can get some good tips from this thread from a sex worker.
DOE AARDIG. There is Dutch directness and there is rudeness. The people coming here don't know how we do things, and are usually well-meaning people who just want to enjoy the city we love. Be kind to them. For the tourists and new residents, please remember that we are not Google; respect our time by doing some basic research first and then asking your questions like you're speaking to a real human who is volunteering to speak to you.
Here is what's on at the major venues this week.

2024.06.09 05:56 viait [partially lost] Karen O singing marshmallow world

In 2014 target released a commercial in which Karen O sings Marshmallow world in the background. This is the commercial in which a little girl and Target the dog go through an adventure showing the hottest items kids wanted that year. Link below.
https://youtu.be/v6g7KJOwpck?si=rku5GeFli9Xm9jLX
I loved her version of this song and have always wanted to hear the full recording. Obviously target owns the rights. I have reached out to their customer service and marketing relations teams and have never heard back from them. I've
I have tried YouTube, Torrents, Spotify, Amazon, SoundCloud and verious other sources. I've even messaged Karen O on her official Instagram page, though she never got the message because for obvious reasons she doesn't accept message request from just anybody.
I'm not expecting much given I'm looking for media that so few care about from a massive company not interested in anything worth less than 10 million and an Artist with too many fans to ever find the time to communicate with us, but does anyone have any ideas about how to recover a copy of this recording?
I only want it for personal use. I'm not against sharing it with anyone else who enjoys it, but I'm not trying to sell it or use it for any other media. I have listened to dozens of remakes by various artist and while some are good, none reach me the way hers did. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

🔗Secure, Fingerprint-Accessible Rifle Safe with Steel Construction

https://preview.redd.it/cctla86msg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=99a436c045839ca4b4217c37ee2dc53138360460
Recently, I had the chance to review the Barska Quick Access Biometric Rifle Safe in black. This safe was designed to provide quick access and security for rifles and guns, all while keeping them hidden from prying eyes.
Upon first glance, the safe seemed sturdy and well-built. The biometric locking system was a convenient feature, allowing me to access my weapons quickly and securely with just a simple scan of my fingerprint. However, I also found the backup key access to be a bit of a letdown, as it felt like it might leave my safe vulnerable to intruders.
One of the highlights of the safe was its four-position barrel rest, which made storing and organizing my rifles a breeze. The dimensions were spot on, fitting nicely in the corner of my closet without taking up too much space.
The interior of the safe was surprisingly spacious, allowing me to store not just one, but four rifles securely. The biometric lock did an excellent job of keeping my firearms safe, even with multiple people using the safe.
However, I did encounter a few drawbacks. Firstly, the wall thickness of the safe felt a bit flimsy, which left me concerned about its durability. Additionally, the safe seemed a bit heavy to move around, making it less than ideal for those who need to transport their safe regularly.
In conclusion, the Barska Quick Access Biometric Rifle Safe was a mixed bag. While it offered a convenient and secure way to store my rifles and guns, there were a few areas where the design could have been improved. Overall, it's a solid choice for those who prioritize quick access and security, but those who value durability and transportability may want to look elsewhere.

🔗Secure Mounted Fingerprint Lock Gun Safe

https://preview.redd.it/uwp0xzqmsg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b3a2c5087062989d665637867cf901f26b74dba3
I recently discovered the VEVOR mounted gun safe, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for me. As a gun owner, I was always on the lookout for a secure and convenient way to store my handguns, and this little powerhouse has definitely met those needs. The three quick access ways - fingerprint, password, and key - have made it incredibly easy to access my pistol whenever I need it.
The one-second fingerprint unlocking feature has been an absolute lifesaver, and the silent mode is perfect for those middle-of-the-night situations when you don't want to wake the whole house. The hard steel shell and interior foam are top-notch, offering a sense of security and peace of mind that I've never had before.
However, there are a couple of minor cons that I noticed. Sometimes the biometric doesn't work on the first try, which can be a bit frustrating. But overall, it's a minor issue, and not enough to deter me from using this safe every day. Lastly, I'd recommend not storing a loaded gun in this safe, as it could be ripped off the wall with a crowbar. But for quick access in case of a break-in, this is the perfect choice.
Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the VEVOR mounted gun safe. It's easy to use, secure, and convenient, making it a worthwhile investment for any gun owner.

🔗Biometric Fingerprint Gun Safe for 2 Pistols - Enhanced Security and Convenience

https://preview.redd.it/1g8ztf2nsg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=856475ce87a2863c35f2f4d073f41a0cc4371ffd
As a reviewer, I decided to give the Biometric Fingerprint Lock and Interior Light Gun Safe for 2-Pistols a try. This gun safe wasn't only for security purposes, but also for the convenience that I've experienced.
One of the standout features was its solid steel construction, giving me a sense of sturdiness and durability. Its fingerprint quick access system proved to be reliable and convenient for me, making it easy to secure my firearms. The larger storage available for two handguns was a great addition, as it provided enough space for my collection.
However, there were some aspects that could have been improved. The fact that 4 AA batteries are not included for powering the gun safe was a bit of a downer, especially if you're planning to use it frequently. On top of that, the safety wire rope was not as strong as I would have liked, which made me a bit concerned about the level of protection for my guns.
All in all, the Biometric Fingerprint Lock and Interior Light Gun Safe proved to be a decent choice for gun owners seeking both convenience and security. Despite some minor drawbacks, it effectively kept my firearms protected from unauthorized entry.

🔗Secure Fingerprint Lock Gun Safe: 4-Gun Fireproof and Biometric for Safe Storage

https://preview.redd.it/zphk1vrnsg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4dcb10e7efa1c05c080d1dfcb08696ce36e3c8f0
As a reviewer, I had the opportunity to test the Sports Afield Home Defense Fire Safe, equipped with a state-of-the-art biometric lock. The feature that stood out to me was the sleek finish. It's glossy, giving it a touch of class and making it blend seamlessly into any room.
I appreciated the fire-resistant rating it boasts – 20 minutes at an impressive 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. It's tough and durable. You can rely on it to keep your essentials safe from fire.
However, I must admit there were a few drawbacks. It lacks a digital display showing fingerprint access, which would make it easily recognizable when attempting entry. The biometric scanner is also slow, adding some inconvenience.
Despite these small issues, the Sports Afield Home Defense Fire Safe is a reliable protection for your vital items. It lives up to its promise of security and offers peace of mind when storing your firearms.

🔗Advanced Fingerprint Gun Lock: Ultimate Home Security Solution 2023

https://preview.redd.it/bqr3mkoosg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=08892c99bcd0d183e990c70a6ad377a8a446b461
The Ayin Viking Biometric Trigger Lock has been a game-changer for my home security. As a new mom, I was worried about the safety of our airsoft rifle, so I decided to purchase this lock. The first thing that stood out was its sleek design and the LCD screen, which is a real crowd-pleaser. However, the real selling point was the IP54 weather and dust resistance – it ensures my trigger lock can withstand any outdoor conditions.
One of the most noteworthy features is the biometric fingerprint access. It was quick and easy to enroll multiple users, and I love that the lock provides easy access without the need for a key. While it may seem complicated to figure out the lock at first, it's a breeze once you're familiar with it.
Overall, this lock has exceeded my expectations and kept our home safe from unauthorized access. Even though it might be a bit pricey, it's worth the investment for peace of mind.

🔗Biometric Gun Safe with Quick Access for Secure Storage

I recently gave the VEVOR Mounted Gun Safe a try, and I have to say it's a practical and secure option for storing your firearms. The one-second fingerprint unlocking feature is a game-changer, as it allows for quick and easy access to your pistol.
The LED lighting is also a nice touch, providing plenty of visibility when needed. However, I did notice that the steel shell could be a bit thicker for added security, and the silent mode isn't as effective as I'd like.
Despite these minor drawbacks, this mounted gun safe is a reliable and convenient choice for keeping your firearm secure while still being easily accessible.

Buyer's Guide

A fingerprint lock gun is a versatile security option that provides quick access to your firearms while also ensuring that your weapons are securely locked away from unauthorized individuals. When it comes to selecting the right fingerprint lock gun, several factors should be considered to ensure that you make an informed purchase.

Fingerprint Sensor Capacity

https://preview.redd.it/0sscd7ipsg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d818e6baca8ea4266cfeacd699ca23c9bb889738
One of the most important aspects of any fingerprint lock is the number of fingers it can store. This number typically ranges from 10 to 200 different fingerprints. If your gun will be accessed by multiple authorized users, choosing a lock with a higher capacity of fingerprints is recommended.

Durability and Build Quality

Since a fingerprint lock gun is often subjected to harsh conditions, its durability and build quality are essential factors. Ensure that the lock you choose is made from high-quality materials, such as stainless steel or heavy-duty aluminum, and has a sturdy, weather-resistant construction.

Power Source

Fingerprint lock guns can use either battery power or a built-in rechargeable battery. When choosing between these two options, assess your personal preferences, as well as the environmental conditions in which your lock will be used. If you prefer a quicker locking and unlocking process, a battery-powered lock may be a better choice. However, if you're willing to wait a brief moment for the rechargeable battery to power up, selecting a lock with this feature may save you money in the long run.

https://preview.redd.it/8c92wtxpsg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=eb821571a4cd4073617253ac241ec2e8099f0e33

Waterproof and Weather-Resistant Features

If you live in an area prone to heavy rainfall or humidity, it is vital to choose a lock that can withstand these conditions. Waterproof and weather-resistant features will ensure that your lock functions correctly, even in challenging weather conditions.

Ease of Installation

A good fingerprint lock gun should be easy to install and use. It's essential to select a lock that comes with clear installation instructions, can be easily programmed, and provides a user-friendly interface for both you and your authorized users.

Additional Security Features

https://preview.redd.it/powufgcqsg5d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4820f655beeb450a8c9efeccee3dae7b17d8d102
Some advanced fingerprint lock guns may include additional security features, such as a backup locking mechanism or tamper alerts. These features can enhance the overall security of your firearms and provide additional peace of mind.
By considering these factors, you will be better equipped to choose the right fingerprint lock gun that meets both your current and future security needs.

FAQ

2024.06.09 05:10 sorrowofzorro Selling old VW beetle

Selling old VW beetle
I've posted this before on a different account asking whether or not to sell this car but I've finally decided to sell it. No one in my family has any time to fix it up and it's just sitting in the driveway. Would rather it go to someone who's going to give it a good home and actually do something with it. 44k kilometers, it's registered as a 1992 super beetle I believe in California. The registration does match the vin so... It does not run, we know it's a fuel incompatibility issue and that should be all. Very little rust as well. I'm curious how much I would be able to get for such a car it's in great shape for how old it is imo. How much should I list this for?

Just a little meme-filled shit-post to spread awareness after an earlier post got me thinking...🤔 about potential indicators of proximity to MOASS
I hope you guys enjoyed your Saturday and there are less than 24 hours before Vlad's market opens up for our beloved stonk to trade, so at least we'll be trading again soon. A post I read from -einfachman- earlier today had me thinking about this past week and how I too was completely fooled and thought Roaring Kitty would exercise his options on TV and after seeing videos from Richard Newton and Peruvian Bull, I'm convinced that the momentum for the company and MOASS are still very much alive but we may have a lengthy ride ahead of us, but I wanted to get back to what -einfachman- was saying earlier. And welcome the fuck back too -einfachman-!!!! 😆😆😆
I don't know shit about anything and am not giving advice here, I'm just throwing some ideas out that came to me earlier. -Einfachman's- post had some great points about how the run-up we experienced this week may very well have been orchestrated by the market making powers in charge and that they could have been buying calls that helped build this gamma ramp alongside Roaring Kitty to rug us and demoralize us. Whatever the case, here are some things I think we should be on the look out for that may indicate desperation from the powers in charge...
Auto-liquidation of profitable GME positions by brokers:
https://preview.redd.it/xc7one2phg5d1.png?width=922&format=png&auto=webp&s=d78742d6676a4e72ef9e9906ef5c4633c2a5055d
I don't know anything about anything but in addition to brokers being able to do what they want with our shares since they own them, we may see apes flipping out because brokers are doing things they've done before like disabling our abilities to buy the stonk. I also noticed I had no pre-market trading capability during the mornings of a run-up last month using Fidelity. I'm taking a wild guess but I believe there are many apes that hold shares in brokers and I wouldn't be surprised if later on, we see brokers selling off peoples' shares. I hope people in the comments will help new apes find their way to the Direct Registration System so they can truly own their shares.
More glitches, errors, and outages from brokers and institutions:
https://preview.redd.it/ez9nqhfrhg5d1.png?width=750&format=png&auto=webp&s=ee901b06c3a67694846b0d7acf7159657aef3653
I believe that as we get REALLY close to whatever is coming, to the end of abusive naked shorting institutions, or whatever will come, that we will see brokers having seemingly feasible errors and outages to buy themselves time to do whatever they need to do to prevent us from getting the wealth we deserve for taking a position in what will probably be the "Magnificent Chosen 1" company after the other ones get rugged hard to pay us, if that happens 🤔🤨. I think we'll get halted a lot more frequently too.
Philanthropic activity from Kenny, as well as other displays of power and wealth:
Kenny speaking after he donated money to a children's hospital last year
We've seen media networks (Bloomberg, from my observation) display headlines of all the charitable work that Kenny does, they talk about him like he's the coolest guy in the world of finance. Bloomberg also has displayed headlines in the crawl area of him buying buildings and mansions and doing other things to show us that he's on top of the world and that his clients have to reason to worry 🤡. I assume he'll be a lot more charitable as his world unwinds. Interestingly I haven't noticed those headlines being displayed for Steve Cohen, Jeff Yass, or Doug Cifu, at least not on Bloomberg. They seem to operate in the shadows...🤔
Increasingly malicious reporting from financial media networks:
\"iTs ExTrEmElY dAnGeRoUs To 0uR dEm0cRaCy\"
The financial media networks, and now even regular national media like CNN all piled in to speak poorly of Roaring Kitty and have been doing so since the sneeze in late January of 2021. Now that Roaring Kitty has returned, and now that GameStop can't really get delisted or go under at this point, the media is getting desperate to deter interest in the stonk from normies. I'm honestly shocked that we haven't been associated with the "alpha male guy" whose name I can't mention due to auto-mod. He claims to have bought the stonk last month and is very controversial, and I wonder if the media is saving our "w0rShiP of..." this guy for when the shorts get really desperate...🤔
This is just a little overview of things that came to me earlier today as I was going for a walk. I don't know anything about anything but have been able to spot some anomalies over time largely thanks to you apes; otherwise I'm pretty smooth and oblivious ☝️😛. I would love to see you guys notice other things that we might see when shit hits the fan for the shorts. Based on the other things I've read from other peoples' research, I wonder if the magnificent 7 and crypto collapse; if we see regional banks, credit unions, and other big institutions get wiped out as well. I wonder if we see endless reassurances from financial institution employees, and Janet Yellen like we did last April. Either way, we won already. I hope everyone stays grounded because I truly believe a change in many of our socioeconomic statuses is on the horizon!

2024.06.09 04:23 player101bby C&D simulation for more change

First let me start by saying I am sorry for everyone impacted, including project team.
I have had a few days to think about all of this and I want to share my thoughts.
The company wasn’t prepared, no fancy inaccurate calculator to show us what we could be making with these changes. Missing subclasses and some blatantly incorrect percentages. Leaders do not have answers besides “we will know more insert timeline
Consultants asked to coach and train advisors with no incentive. Don’t tell me about their commission bullshit because they lose the ability to make more regardless of how hard they work. They are on the hook for membership and advisor responsibilities.
Designers what a joke of a title. I’ve heard you get paid out 5% on smart home. Didn’t we stop doing walks in home for stupid shit like doorbell and smart locks? Base pay is to avoid paying you $$$ when the program gets axed and severance paid out. Heard you guys also get 10% on core products? Hmmm regardless of skill sets everybody that’s in this new title gets paid the same? If you don’t see the writing on the wall, god help you.
Custom labor installers and project managers I would sharpen those resumes.
I think this is all a test to see what sells and what does not. It’s to leverage vendors and it’s going to change for the worse. Spiffs are not coming back, I was able to get confirmation of that. The vendors are making a push for it but that’s something that will be revisited Q3.
Here’s the scary truth;;; it’s now much easier to control how much you work. There’s time limitations and you are store coverage with expectations to coach advisors. If the experts are expected to coach than what are the leaders good for?
Good luck and god speed.

2024.06.09 04:10 mansplanar The Rules for Picking Hot Tinder Photos (or any dating app)

In this social media age, it's all about your online image. There are people out there who know how to take a flattering shot, who know their angles almost too well. So well they look nothing like their true selves, in fact.
This isn't an article on how to catfish, or how to basically fool the world into thinking you're Jessica Biel or Jake Gyllenhaal.
These are our tips on how to pick out the best photos for your Tinder, Bumble, Grindr, or any dating app profile. Photos that portray the best version of (the real) you, for instance, confident, well-rounded and interesting sides of your personality!
You've probably seen plenty of articles on how to write the perfect Tinder bio. The everlasting debate around stating your height might come to mind. Should you divulge too much information? Should you go for a witty one-liner? Well here at the Match Artist, we value photography. We think that the secret to a killer Tinder profile is in its photos, and some people could do with a helping hand.
Stuck with your Tinder photos? Hire a professional to help you get some amazing snaps.
There's a knack to it, surprisingly enough. The images we choose to represent ourselves on social media and online say a lot about who we are. For instance if you've chosen six different versions of similar selfies for your Tinder profile, you probably aren't going to come off as particularly interesting. If all six of your photos feature you with your ex, you're probably going to come off a bit obsessed.
Here are our tips on how to portray the best version of yourself in your Tinder photos:
  1. Don't just pick selfies!
Sure, we understand. Nobody can take a better photo of you than, well, you. However, no matter how tempting it may be, don't just pick selfies for your Tinder photos! It makes you look super boring and shallow. Tinder gives you a small window to be as interesting as possible. You need to utilise your opportunity, that means making the best use of each photo. One selfie is OK, but make sure you include a nice variety of shots in your Tinder photos.
  1. Find the perfect balance for body shots
It's daunting, but the straight truth is that people on Tinder are judging your looks. That means not only your face, but your body too. There's a fine balance with choosing a body pic. If you hide your body completely, you don't look self-confident. If you show off your rippling abs in every photo, you can look self-obsessed. The trick here is to choose just one picture that includes your body. If that means a top-off beach pic, then do it. If that means a full-body photo where you're glammed up for a night out, fantastic. If that means a candid shot where your torso is visible, that works too. If you're not massively confident in your body, just try not to make it totally obvious!
  1. Show off a hobby
Again, Tinder is about making use of a small opportunity to sell yourself. You need to cram in as much information about yourself as possible, so using your Tinder photos to tell your story is perfect. Whatever your hobby might be, rock it in one of your photos. You might be an athlete (sport photos are always great), you may be a chess champion, amazing at crochet, or completely obsessed with dogs (dogs count as hobbies too, right?) Whatever it might be, having an interest or hobby is attractive. People might share your interest and take more of a liking to you for it, or they might picture themselves sharing the activity with you.
  1. Work your angles
Whatever photos you choose, know which ones you look good in. You may have a great profile view, or a jawline to show off. Tip number 4 is simple; know what angles and looks work for you, and try to choose your most flattering pictures. (Rocket science, we know!)
  1. Include friends, but not too many
We've all been there, swiping through Tinder when you come across a group photo of twelve guys. Which one is he?! Don't be that person. It's great to include a group photo or pictures with friends; it shows you're a sociable and friendly person. However, you do not want to make a prospective date have to work hard to figure out which person you are.
If you do include a group photo, make sure it includes no more than four or five people. Nobody wants to be scanning fifteen tiny faces to figure out who's who. Do not, I repeat, do not include more than one group photo. It's too confusing. Next.
  1. Smile
You're not Edward Cullen. You're going to need to flash those teeth to show you're open and charming. Photos of you smiling and baring your teeth are going to show
Nobody wants to go on a date, or potentially be in a relationship with someone who can't (or won't) smile! Get those gnashers out!
  1. Don't flex with a 'hot girl/guy'
A weird one, but people do it. Including a photo with your hottest guy-or-girl-friend does not make people fancy you more! It's a strange kind of mind game that just ends up being a huge no-no for many people. If you were considering a gal on Tinder who's first picture was her with a male supermodel, wouldn't you (on some level) feel like she was saying 'this is my expectation, don't swipe right unless you're this beautiful'. This point also includes exes. People don't like to see pictures of potential dates with a member of the opposite sex. Don't ask us why. They just don't.
  1. Get fancy
Everyone likes to get dressed up for a night out or a big event. Likewise, everyone likes a girl in a beautiful dress or a guy in a well-fitting tux. You should try to include a photo of yourself dressed up to the nines to show Tinder-ers your potential and how you might, one day, look on their arm at an event (or even wedding).
  1. Go outside
This one sounds stupid, but subliminally, including one picture of yourself outside makes you look a little bit more adventurous and interesting. Pictures of you only indoors will on a very deep level tell people that you don't go out much. Think about it, your Tinder photos are telling a story. Make a little bit of that story out-of-doors!
  1. Leave out the filters
Nobody is looking to go out with a guy or girl with dog or panda ears! Snapchat filters are a no-go for dating profiles. Sorry folks.
  1. Try out professional photography
If you've read this article and been thinking 'I don't have any photos of myself like that', you can try getting a professional to snap you looking your very best. You can now hire a professional portrait photographer from just £99 for an hour session.
You can be sure that a portrait photographer will capture your best angles, smiles and even your friends. Portrait photographers have the best lenses and kit that will flatter your mug far more than the tiny fish-eye iPhone lens.
It's not unheard of, either! Plenty of people nowadays opt for a pro photographer to help them look sharp in their headshots, dating profiles, and even their passport photos. It's reasonably priced enough, the same as a nice dinner in a restaurant, but with longer lasting results!
There's a few simple things to bear in mind when selecting photos for your dating profile: not too many selfies, not too many group shots, work your best features, show your bod (a bit), make sure to smile, go outdoors, get dressed up, and leave out the silly filters. You can also try getting a professional photographer to take some snaps.
Now get out there and start swiping! The most important thing is to be confident in yourself and your choices, but if you follow these tips you should be an absolute love magnet within hours.
Are you thinking about booking a portrait shoot with the Match Artist? Great idea!
If you're going to have an enviable Instagram feed or Tinder photos, you can't rely on your best friend to capture your best angles at the drop of a hat. Sometimes life calls for a professional photographer to get you some selfies that will drop jaws. Luckily, the Match Artist can find you such a pro at short notice and for a great price.
We guarantee quick and simple booking, an amazing professional photographer who will travel to you, and 48 hour photo delivery every time.
We do all this so you can have great shots of you looking your best.
Don't have any shots worthy of your Tinder profile? Try out a Match Artist photographer today! We'll help you get those matches.

2024.06.09 04:09 nesdahljj What Skills/areas of work do you think will be beneficial to have assuming the impending collapse/civil war as well as the sequential rebuilding? + Personal description of society currently

TL;DR : 23(M) in bay area trying to figure out how to position myself for the future in order to survive the shit show without too many scars and be able to be apart of the rebuilding process in an impactful way. What skills/direction do people think are good bets for myself and people my age or anyone reading/interacting with this?
Gonna share my Situation for background as well as perspective on areas that I see decline in across the board. Feel free to build off anything you resonate with or disagree with.

Housing Market/Migration:

Housing market is obviously fucked right for various reasons economically. The new houses that are being built are all of terrible quality by companies such as DR Horton in order to maximize profits which lead to inefficiency when it comes to home value retention and resell ability if they are able to sell at all. The new construction are like I said all shitty but are also being built in general in really shitty areas that don't have high qualities of life or massive weather problems among other cultural, energy, water, immigration or political issues(ie. Texas, Florida, Arizona, etc.) Not saying that other places in the country (New York & California) are perfect or even close to it, but people moving like they are moving to these places is like putting a band aid over the wound(the economy) instead getting to the root of the problem and currently we can see the result of this in said areas. Rising Unaffordability, crime, insurance rates, property taxes(Daddy government always gets his), and general gimmicky shit. Now those same people are moving back to California or New York if they can afford it or most of the time north to the rust belt to do the same thing with probably the same outcome. Interest rates won't come down for probably another 15 years and even if they do everything will be bought up by institutions.
Boomers are locked into houses with low rates and massively high equity but instead of passing that on to the next generation they choose to lord it over everyone and tell people to not buy coffee because that's obviously gonna make the difference in terms of being able to afford a downpayment. Telling everyone to work harder when they have literally have had it the easiest of any generation in human history without showing any gratitude or recognition of that fact.

The Dollar:

Its been talked about on here non-stop but national debt is absurd and currently unrepayable unless..... we just print more. Which is what the government does. I don't know if this is fueled by private banks( Look up private banks effects on history specifically during world wars; here is a solid video). But lowering the value of tomorrows dollar to pay off todays debt seems to be the government's only plan in terms of paying things off. This strategy is the only reason the media is able to manufacture delusion in the populous that stocks are high and real estate won't crash. What's really going on is the the prices are staying the same relatively or slightly increasing but that is because the value of the dollar is going down not because the value of the asset is going up. This is a overall assessment, obviously things fluctuate more when you zoom in and look at the fundamentals of individual assets but you get the general point.
Myself personally I am a little neutral in terms of if or if not the dollar will remain the world reserve currency for the next 150 years. My gut would say that it won't but that being said things don't really look too much better anywhere else in the world. People talk about BRIC but but they all have worse problems than the US. India is a shithole with poor infrastructure hence so many Indians moving the America specifically the bay area but also they consistently get outsourced by Americans once companies realize they need an ounce of quality in their service or product. The high quality ones leave and the low quality ones stay. Both China and Russia while boasting huge amounts of natural resources and reasonable militaries have dire demographic problems and have been lying about their numbers for years. Europe doesn't look any better either. Realistically I know it sucks in America but it kinda is better than anywhere else. What makes me hesitate is the cycles of history that Ray Dalio talks about where the world reserve currency is kind of destined to change every X amount of years. Have heard some interesting contrasting theories on this specifically the Dollar milkshake theory which I suggest checking out.

Job Market:

Job Market is ridiculous especially for younger people my age. Even my colleagues who went to an alright university are having a hard time getting and keeping a job due to the market. There are tons of ghost jobs that don't actually exist and are only posted in order to make it seem like the company is currently profitable. Just to get a job you not only need to apply to probably around a thousand jobs with a 3% response rate but also you need to be messaging recruiters and people who work at the company in order to get a referral. Even if you were able to get a job, most people I know are searching for another job whether it be part time or full time because they are afraid of being laid off.
Things also don't seem to be getting easier. The pandemic was extremely profitable for everyone but ever since then it has been harder and harder with no real let up or cooling off. I don't see how this can continue without turning to resentment or potentially complete stagnation since young people really don't have any reason to work. They are unable to find someone to have a family with in a healthy way. Unable to afford a house. Can't keep a job to no fault of their own. And can't afford to have kids.

Design/Consumerism:

Design and Consumerism are in my opinion evidence of a decaying society currently. There is very little differentiation in design from cars to houses to public or government buildings to art and even products at retail stores. Everything is designed with speed and Price in mind which spirals consumerism further downward(look up refinement culture on google). This promotes things like fast fashion and previously mentioned single use products which make corporations a large amount of money but isn't sustainable for the environment or for individual people's wallets.
Also the general lack of beautiful design in people's lives makes our lives even more dull than they currently are. Living or working in a McMansion that looks like the inside of a Chick-fil-a is fun for the first five days until its not and then you are back to keeping up with the Jones' in order to fit in: falling back into consumerist culture. I think debt and peoples personal finances are being stretched which makes this problem slightly disappear more and hurt the corporations' pockets but it doesn't solve the problem just reveals the cancer underneath.

Crime:

Crime obviously is increasingly on the rise and not just with violent crimes. Shoplifting as you know is a huge issue as well as personal stealing to such a prevalence that the sentences on those crimes are being reduced because prisons and jails are being maxed out completely. This doesn't seem to be slowing down and is even shifting to different parts of the country due to internal migration previously talked about above in the housing portion due to unaffordability, interest rates, debt, and population increase(by migration or birth).
Another huge issue is homelessness and specifically illegal immigration which I think partly is done by the Democratic party currently in order to bolster their election chances with November coming not realizing that they are turning away their existing demographics. Another feature of homelessness specifically but also crime and illegal immigration is it inadvertently destroys third spaces which are currently and rightly so being talked about a lot. I will go into this more on the next section.

Day to Day Physical and Mental health:

Being able to socialize and hang out with people casually and at no to low cost is becoming increasingly impossible. Being out in public now costs money and that cost is rising day by day exacerbating isolation especially among young people who don't have that much money do begin with. This is a huge reason why I think young people are still willing to go to college the way they still are. even if they go into debt they want access to these third spaces to improve their social, physical and mental Health. I KNOW, myself included, that young people are desperate for third spaces and community even though many are addicted to their phones, don't have good social skills or it costs a significant amount of money to engage in it which is unfortunate and leads to people kind of giving up or at least having a general feeling of hopelessness. The predatory nature of social media companies and targeted advertisers don't help this issue at all either leading to worse mental health as well as more consumerism. Mental health as we all know is a huge issue especially with younger people and even though we have more resources/understanding about it which I am proud of my generation(and others) for being interested and interacting with, dealing with the issue becomes more and more difficult based on our decaying environment day by day.
In terms of physical health again, I am proud of my generation(and others) for caring more about the products that they are putting into their body. Seeds oils, red dye, processed food, micro-plastics, animal and plant products raised in the right way, etc. However the way the food industry is currently set up, being able to have access to clean healthy food is a lot of times unaffordable to most people or the food itself is up for speculation by the media because why would industries do studies on products of hygenic methods that can't make money? Again this seems to be an issue that there is awareness and information on but day by day it seems to be harder and harder to give your body what it needs to feel good based on the current decaying environment.
I'm also going to add a spiritual section here because I feel it needs to be added. We need to hold religious organizations more accountable. I am seeing more and more people being turned away from ideologies that are legitimately beneficial to their lives because of poor leadership, predatory behavior, and fraudulent/scam activities. This may be a result of a society being submerged in decadence but it is really disheartening seeing people being moved away from spirituality because it has been weaponised for the personal gain of those at the top. Feel that needed to be added since it is something I want to engage with more meaningfully in the future.

Dating/Families:

This is my opinion will be the breaking point for most people. I think if people were really honest with themselves family would be something that you don't fuck with; future or current. Dating currently is really tough for everyone regardless of what is between your legs. Animosity between genders has been manufactured and in general people have tendencies within this context to be more competitive rather than cooperative which should clearly be indicative that things aren't or are going to work out. The destruction of third spaces, addiction to phones, predatory corporations profiting of loneliness(regardless of sex), inability to buy a house, inability to afford kids, etc have really made people sit back and wonder is any of it really worth it. Should I just indulge in primal desires since my self actualization needs seem so unattainable @ Maslow.
I said it before but this will be the breaking point in my opinion. If people don't feel like no matter how hard they work, they won't be able to get what they want in terms of normal human desires and needs; Then they will fight and rebel for it which is where I think we are headed, especially concerning young dudes.

Personal Response:

Grew up in Middle class home in San Jose and had a pretty normal childhood. Don't remember anything too ridiculous around 2008 but we were also renting as well. Things however really ramped up when I got into college specifically during the Pandemic. I spiraled downward and had severe mental and physical issues that resulted in me hitting rock bottom(don't want to play oppression olympics here). Now I'm currently heavily considering going back to finish my degree in Philosophy just to have it. Afterwards looking at sales, one of the trades, or any other opportunity that presents itself in order to get by while things get adjusted.
I feel we are headed towards extremely turbulent times within the next 4 years. With the boomers dying and leaving the workforce to the rising animosity and resentment that younger people feel with the system regardless of your political ideology it seems we are moving towards some kind of global or civil war. We already see China preparing to invade Taiwan, Russia looking to move further west for expansion and I think similar conflict will happen in the United States. The United States and its dollar are weakening by the day which is why you see the dollar being removed from countries trading oil and why there have been more international conflicts like Armenia, Israel, and Ukraine with more to come.
We are due for a war , turbulent time period, rebalancing, whatever you want to call it but its coming(@ Ray dalio cycles of history)probably this November if I had to guess. I feel like I am gifted to be able to see this stuff and put it into words as many of you guys reading this also probably are but I am feeling lost currently and don't want to lose hope. I know that this is an opportunity for me to go through a hard time and become stronger because of it and hopefully become a responsible and respectable steward for the future when the rebuilding happens assuming I survive without too many scars. But what do I do now? How should I act? Should I go back to college and continue to try and go the old path with the clarity of what I think will happen waiting for my moment to adapt? Or should I be proactive and try something new in order to put myself in a more advantageous position when things inevitably get turned upside down? Combination of both?
My current focus is on my body & mind in terms of food, drink, substances, exercise phone use, media, information, agendas, and mental frameworks since that is all I can realistically invest into currently. I'm naturally an over thinker and a pessimist but think it is important to take the white pill on this one and look to the future with hope in terms of seeing opportunity in the decay of the current flawed system we are in regardless of the fact that I feel as though myself and people around my age currently have it pretty tough right now across the board. I'm emphasizing this because I feel as though this reddit(especially the posts) sometimes just reports the pain and fear instead of trying brainstorm the best ways to adapt and handle what we currently face. I want to have a wife, kids, and a family and feel it is my responsibility to make the best of what I have and be positive in order to get what I want in this life.
Would love to hear from you if you are in a similar situation or a different one. What are your thoughts, feelings, plans, and mentality heading into the future? Are we cooked? Or just waiting for our turn.

Boys: Justin, Ripper, Topher
Girls: Anne Maria, Jasmine, MK
Episode 19: The Princess Pride
"Last time, on Total Drama Action! Just when the cast thought they were safe, I swung in to surprise – I mean, antagonize them."
"The cast were forced to use their creative sides while showing off their back sides. As they made superhero costumes out of spandex. And...some other junk. Nice tights!"
"Of course, they were foiled by the diabolical Pythonicus, evil alter-ego of the villainous Chef!"
"In a fight against evil, the cast proved they could be heroes. And also, loooseerrss!"
"In the end, the most diabolical of them all was MK, who twisted things in order to get Chase eliminated."
The recap footage ended, and the scene flashed to the control tent where Chris was waiting with a smile. "Will the Gaffer alliance recover from Chase being gone? Will Anne Maria and Topher keep going out?" he pressed a button on the keyboard to his side, causing a picture of the couple to appear on one of the screens behind him.
"Maybe you'll find out right now?" he shrugged impishly as the scene changed again and he walked towards the cast trailers. "Maybe you won't? On another, totally dramatic episode of," he stopped in his tracks and the camera zoomed out with each further word, "Total! Drama! Action!"
(Theme Song)
The episode began with, of all things, a close-up of some brown and beany mush plopping onto a plate. The camera panned up to reveal its source as burrito beans in the hands of Jasmine being put together. Shots of Ripper, MK, and Justin also showed them making burritos as well.
The camera zoomed out to show the four constructing burritos on the table next to the tent's entrance while Topher and Anne Maria were at the other table, the former overseeing the quartet as he stood on the table and the latter simply applying lipstick to her lips.
“Ten more seconds, guys! The biggest burrito wins!” Topher declared and looked at Anne Maria. “Do you think I'd make a good reality show host?”
Anne Maria put her lipstick away. “Can you excuse me? I'm working on my facial features,” she said.
“But you already worked on yourself in the morning,” Topher said.
“You'd do the same if your hair was lookin’ messy,” Anne Maria retorted.
“Touché,” Topher pulled back.
“And time is up, folks!” MK informed everybody with her watch.
"Ripper, what do you got?” Topher asked the burly boy.
“Allow me to demonstrate my beefcake burrito!” Ripper held up his plate - his burrito has no wrapping and simply consisted of beef shaped into a cake. “I actually managed to make a cake out of beef.”
“How interesting,” Topher observed after getting off the table. “Jasmine, how about you?”
“These are my twin burritos!” Jasmine said with a plate that had two burritos tied together with an elastic rubber band.
“You actually wrapped your burritos?” Topher inspected heavily.
“Of course I did,” Jasmine nodded. “Twins are sometimes inseparable, and it's a good thing that these burritos aren't Siamese, otherwise they would have tried to eat one another.”
Topher laughed at her quip. “Points for that quip,” he said and made his way over to MK. “MK, how did you manage to make your burrito?”
“I am proud to present the MK Whopper!” MK took her burrito out from under the table and presented it - the burrito was shaped to look like MK with the beans as the body, wrap pieces as the hat and clothes, a sliced piece of tomato as the mouth, and pieces of beef as the eyes.
“The burrito is self-serving, but quality effort regardless,” Jasmine commented.
“Quality? Check out the guns on these beans,” Justin objected as his leitmotif played and he whipped out his burrito shaped to look like a flexing bicep. He even flexed his own bicep and moved his eyebrow in order to impress the contestants, but they were unfazed. “Nothing. You feel nothing?”
“Nope,” Jasmine shook her head.
“I was never once into you, Justin,” MK added as well.
“Man, this scratched schnoz has destroyed my looks and my life!” Justin moped. “Why?”
“MK, your self-art and ego is unsurprising, but you did make the biggest and best burrito, so you win,” Topher told her.
“This isn't right,” Justin protested and was now out of his seat. “I demand a second neutral opinion.”
“I'm no doctor or anything, but we all have reality-show-itis, and it's making us turn things into a challenge,” Anne Maria spoke up.
“I'm not sure if that's a thing, but I can't help myself when this day is bland and boring,” Topher said.
Confessional: Justin
“When my good looks went, so did my winning edge,” Justin told the viewers. “But some people are still managing to kick butt, and they're not nearly as good looking as I am!” He paused to think about what he said. “Okay, as I was.”
Confessional Ends
Justin was now sitting next to Anne Maria. “You know, you're the only one taking the game seriously. I just wish I knew how you did it all. It's so inspirational.”
“I'm just playing the game the best I know how,” Anne Maria said. “And it's not by sabotage like Scott did to me.”
“Scott also sabotaged my chances in the game as well,” Justin continued. “Hey, we have something in common.”
“Yeah we do, now go away,” Anne Maria ordered. “I don't know if they'll be a challenge, and I'd like to relax in peace.”
A few off-camera footsteps gave everyone pause, and they looked towards the room's entrance as the shot moved to a side-view of the room. Chef Hatchet had entered wearing a faded purple Medieval-styled costume, complete with a simple horn bearing a flag marked with a simple black-and-purple shield.
He blew a few awkward notes, then the camera moved in for a close-up as he made an announcement. "Hear ye, and rise! For Sir Chris!"
"Sir?!" Jasmine repeated with disbelief. "This Bruce's ego is fussing me to heaps!"
The shot moved back out to show Chris McLean riding atop the same decrepit-looking horse that had been used for a much earlier episode. He was wearing a knight's helmet and holding what looked to be a boot made of glass, and dismounted once Chef laid out a small rug for him to stand on.
"Hold on," Topher said slowly. "Glass slipper. Medieval stuff. This must be a Fairy Tale theme!"
"Topher," Chris said with stern annoyance, "if you ever steal my intro again, I'll have to personally boot you off the show."
"Hey, you can't do that!" Topher protested. "You brought me onto this show!"
"This boot," Chris said happily, "will determine the Princess for today's Fairy Tale movie challenge! The rest of you," he added as the camera panned across the tent from right to left, "compete for the honor of rescuing the fair Princess."
Anne Maria immediately raised her hand eagerly. "I wanna be the Princess!"
"I said the fair Princess," Chris repeated. "And what we think is fair is that the candidates be the ladies who haven't had a win since the merge: MK," he looked at the unamused techno, "and Jasmine." The focus moved to the Outback girl, who merely raised an eyebrow.
Confessional: Jasmine
"Okay, I am not Princess material," Jasmine said in the make-up confessional. "Not only am I too tall to fit the role, but I'm not really interested in fairy tales."
Confessional Ends
A short drumroll preceded an even shorter chanted note as MK and Jasmine approached the end of the table closest to the tent entrance.
"Yeah, there's no way that I'm gonna be some Princess, McLean!" MK barked at the host who was standing nearby with the glass boot still in his hand. "And don't even try to jam that boot on my foot."
"Okay," Chris said slowly, "that's a no for MK. Jasmine, you're up."
"Well, I'm not fond of fairy tales," Jasmine said, "but I might as well."
"Hold on there, Thunder from Down Under," Chris told her. "You have to put the boot on first. Make sure you're actually Princess material."
Jasmine frowned. "Okay then." She sat on the end of the table, slipped off one of her shoes, and tried to force it on.
The host and other castmates watched as she grunted and began to sweat, trying to get the boot onto her foot. Eventually, she let out a disappointed breath and held the boot back up. "It's no use," Jasmine told the host. "I can't get it on, and even then, it would shatter to pieces."
"Well," Chris said blankly, "guess that's both candidates out, unless MK changes her mind."
MK just glared at him. "Not a chance."
Anne Maria immediately grinned. "Yo Chris!"
"Looks like we have to do another selection method," Chris grabbed the glass boot and began to turn, only for Anne Maria to dart forward and snatch the footwear away from him.
Anne Maria swiftly tossed aside one of her heels and replaced it with the glass boot. "There," she said with a smile, raising her leg to show the boot glimmering on the end of it, "I always knew that I was meant to be royalty!"
"Fine, Anne Maria can be the Princess," Chris said heavily. "Let's just get this over with. Chef?" he looked back over his shoulder, and the shot pulled back to show the hulking man arriving back on the scene. He had changed into a pale blue ballerina's outfit, and had strapped a pair of fake wings to his back that, along with the glittering 'wand' in his hand, gave him the appearance of a fairy godmother.
"I dub thee, Princess Anne Maria," Chef said shortly as a touching song played, waving the wand above the grinning girl's head and releasing a cloud of sparkling dust that nearly choked Topher, Ripper, and Justin.
Confessional: MK
"Anne Maria as the Princess?" MK told the confessional camera with a snort and a laugh. "I wouldn't want to be in that Fairy Tale. Along with any others out there."
Confessional Ends
A harp played in the background as an image of Chris' head and a large hardcover book appeared on screen in front of a yellowish stock background. "It's story time, with uncle Chris," the host's disembodied head said before the scene flashed to him seated in a large purple armchair with the same book in hand. His left hand was on a joystick built into the arm of the chair, and he seemed to be slowly rolling through the set.
"Once upon a time," he began slowly, the camera pulling back to show the host rolling up to the contestants minus Anne Maria on a wheeled platform, his chair joined by a matching footstool, pedestal side table, and even a fireplace. "Five brave knights went on a quest to rescue a Princess from her ivory tower." He pulled back on the joystick, and the platform came to a stop. "But, it wasn't gonna be easy! First," he looked at the staircase behind him, "the knights had to get past my very good friend," the shot quick-panned up and left to Chef, now dressed in a tattered vest and trousers with a long moss-green wig and beard, "the Terrible Toothless Troll!" The shot zoomed in on Chef as he quickly blackened a few of his front teeth with a sharpie. "And, his Bad Breaks Bridge!"
The camera zoomed out even further as a few ominous chants played in the background, showing a large mountainous set featuring a rickety rope bridge over a treacherous and craggy fake waterfall. The contestants gulped.
"To get past the Terrible Toothless Troll," Chris read on, "the knights had to wear disguises! There was the Frog Prince," he grabbed a vaguely frog-like great helm from behind his chair and tossed it to Justin, "and the Ugly Stepsister," he tossed a large wig of wavy red hair in a tall bun to MK. "Snow White," he tossed a pink sleep mask to Jasmine, "and one of her Seven Dwarves," he followed that up by throwing a tall wizard's hat patterned with stars, moons, and lightning bolts to Topher. "Aaand," the host finished by pulling out a bright red hooded cape, "Little Red Riding Hood."
He tossed it to Ripper, who raised an eyebrow as he caught it. "Seriously? Can't I just be Riding Red?"
"No dice dude. That's what it says in the script," Chris told him as an unseen intern delivered a plate of milk and cookies to the host's side table. He turned and grabbed one, saying "Good work, kid," before continuing his monologue. "And so, the Ugly approached the Terrible Troll."
"I can't see in this thing!" MK said.
"Oh yeah," Chris said to a dramatic rise in the background music, "for this challenge, each knight is blind." The five teens immediately began to protest, causing the host to snap at them. "Nowhere in this story does it say 'the cowardly knights complained'!" he told the cast with a brief glance at his book. "So get it together, steppy, and get crossing!"
The footage skipped ahead to show MK slowly inching her way across the bridge while holding on to one of the rope rails. "This ain't too bad," she said to herself. She was hit by several red apples in rapid succession, causing her to yelp in pain.
"Oh, also," Chris said as the shot cut back to him, "those are Wicked Witch's apples, so, they're poisonous and rotten. You might wanna watch..."
He stopped talking as the shot cut back to MK slipping on one of the apples and fell off the bridge to the rocky set below. The camera followed as she fell and bounced off of several outcroppings before landing onto the hard ground. The shot cut briefly to the other contestants as they winced in pain before cutting back to the techno girl lying awkwardly on the ground with an apple in her mouth.
"Well, looks like MK isn't fairy tale hero material," Chris commented, dunking one of his cookies into his glass of milk. The short girl writhed in pain.
Confessional: MK
MK had on a neck brace and bandages around her head and torso, "I'm having trouble remembering what happened after the fall. Does that mean I have a concussion?"
Confessional Ends
A harp was played as the footage cut back to the other contestants standing at the start of the bridge. "Next, the eighth dwarf," Chris said as he moved his platform around towards the far staircase. "He grabbed a fistful of courage and headed across the bridge."
Topher glanced over at Chef. The man had hunched over, and was slapping a cat o' nine tails against his hand with a wild grin. He took a deep breath, put on the wizard’s hat over his eyes, and charged forward with a battle cry. Chef raised his eyebrows and rushed out to stop him, but he jumped onto a rope rail and ran through it until he was past Chef.
"Did I make it?" Topher asked, having reached the other side.
Confessional: Topher
"Poise classes have taught me to always be aware of my surroundings, whether I’m blindfolded or not," Topher grinned. "And with Anne Maria as the Princess, I’m not botching this one."
Confessional Ends
The footage skipped ahead to Jasmine's attempt, the sleeping mask already over her eyes and her hands firmly on the ropes of the bridge as she walked forward at a steady pace. Chef squeezed a mother goose, launching a golden egg out of its rear like a bullet. It shot past the girl's shoulder. "What was that?" Jasmine asked as she moved her head to track it. A second egg hit her square in the chest, knocking her back a step and putting a grin on Chef's face.
Jasmine frowned for a moment, then took a cautious step that was apparently at the bridge's weak point. The camera zoomed in on the bridge as it rippled, knocking loose every plank all the way to Chef. With a gasp and a scream, the troll and his goose fell, and the scene cut to him as he grabbed something behind his back. "They don't pay me enough for this!" Chef yelled, pulling the cord of a hidden parachute and floating down safely.
Jasmine was unaware of the danger and took one more step, expectedly screaming and falling. The camera cut to Chris as he followed the Amazon girl's fall and winced at the sound of an impact. "Awesome!" he cheered. "You’re up, froggy." The scene cut to the start of the bridge where Justin stood. "Then Captain Hood after that."
Justin put on his helmet. "At least my face will be protected from further indignity," he said as he slowly moved towards the bridge. He walked right shoulder into one of the posts holding up the bridge.
Ripper laughed. "Tough break, pretty boy," he jeered. "Go a little to the right." The eye candy followed the advice and walked into the other pole, causing Ripper to laugh. "Sorry man!" the bully called before laughing again.
Chef was shown running past the center of the bridge with an ax raised and ready to strike, while Justin stayed at the bridge completely oblivious. Ripper laughed once more and pushed the model into the cook. "Let me give you a hand," he said as he did so. Chef brought his ax down and hit the hot boy's helmet, causing the eyes to spin comically and Ripper to laugh once more.
Confessional: Justin
“There I was, down dirty, and deafened,” Justin recapped his failure. “And I thought "W.W.A.M.D.": What would Anne Maria do? And then it came to me! She'd use her head.”
Confessional Ends
With a battle cry, Justin rushed the cook with his helmet and ran him over, safely making it to the other side. "Justin's still got it!" Chris said as the camera cut to him. "All right, the final knight attempting to enter Fairy Tale Land is," the shot cut to Ripper as he tied a blindfold over his eyes and faced away from the camera, "Riding Red! We're over this way!"
"My seeing is good," Ripper said as he turned around. The camera cut to his perspective to show that he could actually see Chef putting on a blonde pigtailed wig. "I'm able to see Chef as a female troll! Hilarious!"
"Rapunzel dude, let down your hair!" Chris called, and Chef lengthened one of the pigtails and began swinging it around. He cracked it like a whip at the bully, who dodged it.
The camera cut to Justin watching Ripper avoid every attack. "Hey! He can see!" he cried.
"How?" Chris asked sarcastically. "With his X-ray vision? That'd be cool."
Chef attacked one last time, but Ripper grabbed onto the pigtail and swung across to safety with a whoop.
The footage skipped ahead to a close-up of Chris's book as he began to narrate once again. "And so, the Terrible Toothless Troll knocked off two losers," the shot pulled back to show Jasmine, wearing a leg cast and her right arm in a sling, and MK sitting on the ground nearby. "But," the camera panned over to Justin, Ripper, and Topher on the right, "three semi-brave knights made it to the other side and continued on their noble quest. Whereupon I, in my wisdom, inspired them with a vision of Princess Anne Maria."
The shot pulled back even further, revealing that the group had assembled in front of a small stage with a pink-tinted backdrop depicting a large white castle off in distant hillsides. A slow piano melody began to play as Anne Maria, now dressed in a regal-looking pink gown and tiara, was lowered onto the stage by a few wires.
"When I was a little girl, I'd dream of my first kiss," Anne Maria began to sing in a rather mediocre voice the moment she hit the stage and the wired harness was reeled back up. "It would come from my perfect prince!" A number of tiny birds and chipmunks gathered around her, the birds even landing on her hands. "And in my dream, it went like this!"
The scene immediately cut to the three remaining knights as they watched the performance. Justin and Topher were both stunned by her display, while Ripper couldn't care less.
“She's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen,” Justin said.
Definitely,” Topher chimed in.
“I must've been so busy seeing her as a potential alliance member and extra vote that I didn't see her outer beauty. Wow,” Justin continued in amazement. “We'll be the best looking couple in the kingdom!”
The music came to a halt as Topher and Ripper were surprised by what just came out of Justin's mouth.
“Excuse me, but I am still dating her!” Topher objected heavily.
“And there's no way she'll ever be into you,” Ripper told Justin.
“I saw you cheat, Ripper,” Justin let him know. “You don't deserve to be anybody's prince.”
“And who died and made you the rule master?” Ripper faced the handsome boy threateningly.
"Guys, guys!" Chris said, stepping forward and getting between the boys. "No need to fight! At least not until after this break," he declared happily. "Will Ripper inflict any deformities on Justin? Or will Justin's ripped physique bring two tons of hurt down on Topher's head? Find out when we come back!"
(Commercial Break)
The footage came back to a distance shot of the stage Anne Maria was still singing on, her music resuming as the shot cut closer.
"My prince will be tall and handsome," she sang, the camera panning down to catch Justin standing straight and proud. "My prince will be tough as nails," Ripper flexed his biceps and then lifted a startled Topher over his head.
"My prince will have lots of money," Anne Maria continued, the camera moving back on her as she showered the stage with a wad of cash. "My prince will tame wild whales!" She flexed her own arms, Chris nodded to the beat, and the shot cut to Topher looking at a small and rather disoriented baleen whale on the floor in confusion.
The shot panned down to Jasmine and MK who were watching the performance with boredom on their faces.
"How are you feeling about the whole Fairy Tale thing?" Jasmine asked MK.
"Couldn't care less," MK answered bluntly. "I just don't know why we have to keep watching though."
A close-up was shown of Anne Maria reaching for a wary-eyed frog in a small crown, the Jersey girl pulling it closer to her as she finished her song. "When we kiss~, my prince will be you~!" As the music ended, she held up the frog and kissed it on the lips, but broke almost immediately in a fit of revulsion.
Anne Maria threw the frog away from her, and it landed on Justin's face. "Warts! Get it off!" he cried out as he ran around trying to get the frog out.
"Wasn't that song brilliant?" Chris asked as the focus moved back to him, Jasmine, and MK. "It was so brilliant, I know everyone wishes they could hear it over, and over, and over again! And now they can." He snapped his fingers, and a CD case bearing Princess Anne Maria's picture on the cover was placed in his waiting hand.
"Relive the magic of Anne Maria for only $12.99," he told the camera as a deep and theatrical tune began to play. "Call 555-SELLOUT to get your authentic Princess Anne Maria CD," he added as the camera zoomed in on the case, "before everyone else downloads it illegally!"
"I'll take one!" Topher quickly begged, earning him a CD. "This will be worth spending thirteen dollars of my money."
Confessional: Topher
"My prince will buy me lots of hot dogs! My prince will love ponies too!" Topher was listening to the CD through headphones as his confessional began. "Her singing isn't the best, but I do want to support her," he told the camera.
Confessional Ends
"After risking my life for you, I have come to realize this!" Justin said as he approached the stage. "You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. And the smartest. What are the odds?"
He offered his hand to Anne Maria, but she didn't take it. "Thanks for telling me what I already know!"
"Uhh, aren't you going to compliment me on my bravery?" Justin asked.
"Nah! Princesses are supposed to be complimented in my world,” Anne Maria said, to Justin's disappointment. “It's not their job to give them out to anyone, but for me, I'll make an exception for Topher, the handsomest knight around!”
The camera moved to Ripper rolling her eyes and Topher smiling. “And you are the most beautiful princess around!” Topher complimented back before a sound caught the attention of both. They turned their heads at once and the scene followed their gaze over to Chef, still in his troll costume but now riding the same fly-ridden horse from earlier in the episode.
"How has that horse not died yet?" MK commented. "It can't be in good condition after all their time being used on this show."
"Just because it's a little old, doesn't mean it's not fighting for their life," Jasmine told her.
Anne Maria hopped onto the horse's back while Ripper and Topher came over. “Are we supposed to catch him?" Topher asked.
"No, it's a classic princess abduction," Chris explained calmly. "As the villain makes a whirlwind getaway on a swift steed."
Chef kicked the horse with his feet, but it didn't react. "Guess ol' Betsy here didn't read the script," he said gruffly.
"Kick harder," Chris commanded, and Chef promptly complied. A stronger kick caused the horse to kick backwards, hitting Justin – who had been standing closest - right in the face.
"That did it," Chef said as Justin was shown to have a few teeth knocked out and a bruised right eye.
"So, that's how the three knight dudes lost the Princess," Chris narrated, "But fate, aka me, wasn't finished with them." Chef and Anne Maria rode off behind him. "They followed the troll all the way to a fight to the death, because that's how I like my princesses saved."
"Sir Topher!" Anne Maria called out playfully as she was slowly abducted. "You better be the one who rescues me!"
"These two haven't even got a chance!" Topher replied arrogantly.
"As good luck, I'll give you my favor to carry into the battle!" Anne Maria tossed the glass boot, but it unintentionally hit Justin in the face.
Confessional: Justin
Justin was having his bruises covered up by make-up brushes from two unknown people while the glass boot was on the table.
“Falling for Anne Maria has been hard on the face. I think we'll have a no glass shoes policy if we start dating soon,” Justin informed and put the boot away. “I have no idea what Chase and Millie's policies are, but they're probably less dignified.”
Confessional Ends
The footage cut forward to a close-up of the old horse chewing on some hay before the camera panned over to a small castle archway propped up against a tower of some sort. "Sir Justin, Sir Topher, and Sir Ripper reached the ivory tower in which the troll had stuck the super tanned princess," Chris read as the three remaining competitors walked into the scene and he followed on his rolling platform. The shot panned up the towers, where several other pieces of crenelated wall had been attached here and there, and at the very top there was a pinkish spire and balcony where Princess Anne Maria waited.
"But there was only one way to rescue her," the host continued with a grin on his face and tense music building in the background. "One of the brave knights had to slay the dragon!"
"Dragon?!" Jasmine asked in alarm. "Tell me you didn't get a real dragon for this!"
"Seeing as dragons don't exist," MK told her, "I find that highly unlikely."
"She's right," Chris said as the music switched to something more ominously lurking. "We're reusing the alien monster guy."
Seconds later, a few tremendous mechanical footsteps were heard. MK and Jasmine looked to stage right and the camera pulled back, showing off the animatronic monster in all its glory. Chef was wearing the motion capture suit that controlled it, and it had been given a hood with horns, a scraggly 'beard', and two tiny wings in order to make it look more draconic. Chef raised his arms menacingly, and the monster echoed the pose and growled.
"Let the dragon slaying begin!" Chris announced, pulling out a trio of wooden swords and throwing them to the knights. Ripper caught the shortest, Topher the most slender, and Justin the broadest, and the three turned to face the tower and dragon.
"I'm counting on you, Sir Topher!" Anne Maria called from above, smiling at the fanboy and blowing him a kiss. He accepted it with a grin, and Anne Maria turned her attention to the other two knights and frowned. "As for you two, you'll need all the luck you can get."
"Yeah, cause I'll be the one who's going to slay today!" Topher boasted before turning and charging at the dragon.
"Not so fast," Justin charged at Topher and the two clashed their swords into each other's, only breaking when they noticed a foot-shaped shadow fall upon them. They rolled out of the way before the monster stomped them, and the camera panned over to Justin landing next to Ripper.
“You want Topher to win?” Justin faced Ripper.
“Like I care which one of you wins,” Ripper scoffed.
“Then help me take him down and I'll let you win,” Justin offered.
Ripper thought about it, and the viewpoint moved over to Chef guiding the monster in stomping and snapping at Topher. He was able to strike the dragon's head with his sword. “You are not going to stop me from rescuing Anne Maria!” the fanboy told the dragon.
“Just get them both chasing you,” Ripper suggested.
“And why?” Justin asked.
“Do you want to stop that monster or not?” Ripper glared. “Just do it!”
Justin sighed but complied, and both Topher and the Chef-controlled monster made moves to chase after him while Ripper watched from the sidelines.
“Are you going to fight me or run away from me?!” Topher asked with a taunt.
“Justin, you're going to stop running in 3…2…1!” Ripper ordered, and Justin paused his dash.
Topher also stopped chasing him as well, and the dragon, who was still trying to chase the others, caught its foot on Topher and somehow tripped. It flailed its arms humorously before crashing to the ground.
"A job well done," Ripper said as he ran over to the large red button on the side of the beast's neck. “Now to claim my second immunity win in a row!” he said as he readied his sword to finish it off, but Justin came up to push him off the dragon and onto the floor.
"Sorry Ripper," Justin told him. "If Izzy was the prize, I'm sure you'd do the same thing." He plunged his sword into the dragon's neck, causing it to fizzle and short out. "Anne Maria," he dramatically called out, "your prince is coming."
"Some prince," Ripper mocked.
The camera panned to the right to show Chris' moving platform as he arrived with Jasmine and MK in tow.
"Wanna rescue Princess Anne Maria too?" he asked the camera. "Now you can, for only $79.95!" he pulled out a pink-and-yellow striped box and held it up for the camera, a vaguely Anne Maria-shaped doll barely visible inside. "Order your very own Princess Anne Maria Limited Edition Glass Boot Doll! Playing with the Anne Maria doll is more fun and less dangerous than playing with the real Anne Maria. Guaranteed!" He finished with a cheesy grin.
The scene cut to the top of the ivory tower as Justin climbed up to the balcony where Anne Maria waited. "I have arrived!" Justin announced.
"Not the guy I was expecting, but a reward is a reward," Anne Maria grumbled and the two moved in for a kiss.
"Wait, wait, there's no kissing!" Chris interrupted the two from his chair.
“What?” Justin felt confused.
“Oh yeah!” Topher cheered from under the dragon.
"It says here that Prince Justin and Princess Anne Maria must sword fight to determine the true winner!" Chris explained while reading off his book.
"Which means I still have a chance at winning immunity?" Anne Maria asked quickly.
"You're much smarter than most princesses," Chris replied.
"Usually, most fairy tales end with a kiss," Jasmine said.
"Well, this is a modern tale," Chris explained. "Gals have to fight for themselves."
“You can say that again,” MK agreed.
“If that's how it has to be-” Anne Maria said.
“No,” Justin cut her off, now kneeling on one leg. “I am a noble gentleman. A brave knight. A handsome prince. I would never hurt a lady.”
“But you would hurt a guy working with you,” Ripper interjected after getting up on his feet.
“I said I was sorry, Ripper,” Justin told him with annoyance and focused back on Anne Maria. “I refuse to raise a sword to Anne Maria.” Anne Maria took the sword from him. “I give up any chance at immunity to spare her. And now…”
Justin puckered his lips and moved close, only for his eyes to widen. The camera pulled back to show the hilt of the sword buried in his crotch.
“Not sorry! I'm already taken!" Anne Maria declared before pushing Justin off.
Justin fell with a scream until he hit one of the 'towers' on his cheek. He kept on hitting one tower after another until he hit the ground on his back in severe pain. “I'm okay!”
The camera panned over to Chris and the other losers. "Anne Maria wins immunity! Again!" the host announced.
"Yes!" Anne Maria cheered.
The opening sequence of the Gilded Chris Ceremony came and went, leaving the scene focused on the tux-wearing host at his podium. "So," Chris began with an award already in his hand, "with immunity, Anne Maria is the first to win a Gilded Chris." He tossed the statuette to the girl, sitting on the left side of the bleachers, and she caught it with a smug grin.
"Immunity and my own dolls? How much better can this day get?" Anne Maria said.
"Well, it's not like you're getting the profits from the Princess Anne Maria line," Chris said plainly.
Anne Maria's eyes popped open in shock. "Uh, what?!" she said in outrage. “It's my line!”
“I’m saying that you're not going to get the profits because they’ll be sent over to your family for safekeeping, along with a Princess Anne Maria doll,” Chris explained. “I don't want any of my interns or producers to take what's rightfully yours. Lawsuits and all.”
“Oh!” Anne Maria said in relief. “I'm relieved, but I'm also upset that you made me act like an idiot!”
"Then you should have let me finish! Also still in the competish," Chris announced with another two awards in his hand, "MK and Jasmine." The former caught her prize in her lap with a confident grin, and the latter with a happy smile.
"And also Ripper," the host continued, the camera panning to the bully who smiled as he caught his award.
Spotlights were put on Justin and Topher, the former in a body cast. "Who will live happily ever after, and who will die penniless," Chris said as the music built dramatically. "And the last Gilded Chris goes to… Justin!"
"What?!" Anne Maria stood up. "You have to be joking! Justin should be going home!"
"Yeah, you're right. I was just kidding," Chris said. "Justin's actually the one who's been eliminated."
Topher caught his award. “I knew I would be safe.”
Confessional: Topher
“I told everybody to vote off Justin,” Topher confirmed. “He tried to move in on my girlfriend, and him getting booted would serve him right. The best part is, everybody was on board with it and I didn’t even have to try and convince them.”
Confessional Ends
Justin got up and started to head to the red carpet, but stopped to look at the contestants. “So is no one even going to miss me?”
“I never liked you,” MK shrugged.
“See ya,” Ripper said apathetically. “Get better soon, or sometime.”
“Okay, stop already! I'm going! But you'll regret it,” Justin told them and walked to the red carpet. Before getting into the limousine, he gave one last look to the remaining players. “With me gone, this competition just got eighty percent less handsome.” The eye candy turned around, only to hit his head on the roof. “All right, seventy-nine!” he groaned.
The footage paused there, and the camera pulled back to show it on one of the monitors in the control tent. Chris was sitting in his chair playing with a couple of Princess Anne Maria dolls, a few more scattered on the nearby desk.
"I know what I told Anne Maria, but marketing says that our target audience is too old for dolls," Chris told the camera as the footage on the monitor cut to static. "They're just not selling!" He looked to the side, and the camera panned to follow and show Chef playing with a group of Princess Anne Maria dolls dressed up as soldiers.
"Princesses, attack!" he said with a dark grin, lighting a miniature cannon with a match as the deeper and more dramatic ending theme began to play. The cannon fired with a puff, blowing the heads off two of the dolls.
Chris gave him an odd look, then turned back to the camera. "Hey target audience! Make sure you don't miss the next kiss-filled episode of Total! Drama! Action!" As soon as he finished saying the title, he mashed the mouths of the two dolls he was holding together and made kissing sounds. "Now you see, Chef," he told his companion, "that's how you play with dolls."

(Bonus Clip)
The scene opened to Justin sitting on the back seat of the limousine with the glass boot in hand. “What I've learned? Well, maybe that good looks won't take you everywhere you want to go,” he said wisely. “I mean, what have I ended up with? A wounded face, a bruised ego, and a shoe that I can't even wear. Maybe if I stopped modeling and threw all my energy into getting smarter, more girls could fall in love with me,” he thought. “But modeling pays. And Jesús, my booker, says that even with my severe facial wounds, he can get me a bunch of leg modeling and some celebrity kid's birthday party. So, love schmove.” He threw the glass boot out the window, and a shattering sound indicated that the boot was destroyed.
