2024.05.15 11:12 Sinister-John One of the CRAZIEST last day vacation stories you’ll ever read. ☘️

This story was written and emailed to me by an anonymous source. And it’s one of the craziest most bizarre stories I’ve ever read. Ever! 😆 Enjoy the read. It’s long and ridiculously wild. ☘️ Also, in advance, no one can use this story. These stories are written and emailed to me for me to turn into a Video Narrative for my YouTube & TikTok channels. But I would like to share their tales as reading material as well. Thank you for understanding.
I hope you enjoy. 🫶
Story by - “Alex” & “Shane”
Okay so…
I went on vacation to Ireland with my brother last year. And had the most wildest experience of my life there.
Or should I say, we both had the most…wildest experience.
But More so me. And to Tell you the truth, I don’t think I’ll ever go back again after what happened.
As a matter of fact, no, I won’t go back.
So, it’s a Sunday night and it was pretty much our last day of vacationing.
My older brother Shane, wanted to go out… And I’m quoting him - “let’s get fuckin wasted tonight!”
So… We’re on vacation right? Why not? We had rented an Airbnb for the week, we had a rental car - we had a great week so far and we were having…
A proper vacation.
He was already dressed up and ready to go. I wanted to take a quick shower and shave so I told him to head out and I’d call him when I was ready for him to pick me up.
He says cool. He leaves, and I jump in the shower. He’s the one that knows the hot spots in Ireland better than I do. I mean, this was my first time ever coming here. So…
I take a shower, shave, and I get dressed. As I’m about to call my brother, the front door to our Airbnb opens up.
And Its my brother with two bad ass Irish women! They both jump on the couch and they’re laughing their asses off and my brother is just standing there looking at me with a sly grin on his face.
He looks over at the ladies and says - “Give me a minute please” walks over to me, puts his arm over my shoulder and walks me to the bathroom. He then whips out a bag of mushrooms and smiles. Ya know… The psychedelic kind.
I look down at the bag and I shake my head.
He says to me - “come on bro. We got two hotties out there who are trippin and they want to party. Don’t be a flake. This is our last night. Let’s make it special.”
I don’t like disappointing my brother but I was kind of hesitant.
I opened the bathroom door and take a look at these gorgeous women who were both sitting upright now and both looking at me as I opened the door. Both smiling. I smiled back. Closed the door… I looked at my brother and said - “Alright dood fuck it! Let’s do it!”
He gives me a huge hug, kisses me on the forehead, pours me a handful of shrooms and does the same for himself.
We both looked at each other to see who would go first. He counted to three and down the hatch they went. But they were the most unpleasant tasting mushrooms I’ve ever eaten in my life. They were disgusting.
I ran to the fridge and grabbed a bottle of juice because I was having a hard time chewing these nasty things.
But my brother Shane? No, he’s a pro. You give that guy a barrel of hay and he’ll eat it faster than a horse. The guy can eat anything.
40 minutes go by and I’m still straight as a pin. However, my brother on the other hand? He’s already trippin.
I think he had already taken some beforehand.
But in the next 10 minutes… These shrooms hit me like a ton of bricks! It was like this intense wave of cool and hot went completely through my body.
And I’ve taken mushrooms quite a few times but have never felt anything like this before. It was so sudden!
And I feel fantastic!
The next hour went by so fast because we were having so much fun! And these Irish girls? Man… I had the sexiest one! A beautiful Redhead by the name of Katrina.
She was kind of short though. About 5’1” maybe? But good things come in small packages, right? Well, not really. And you’ll know why soon enough.
I don’t recall anything else that happened for the rest of the night after my brother left with the other girl. And before I continue with the rest of the story. My brother’s name is really not Shane. And the redhead girl I was with is not named Katrina.
You see I had to make up these names to protect me and my brother. Because what happened during the rest of the night? I don’t remember. But also, I’ll never forget either.
Okay so, let's get back to the story…
I do remember my brother leaving with… Let's just call her Gloria, Katrina’s friend? And me and Katrina, the redhead, stood behind. I do remember us making out in the bathroom together, but…Everything else after that? There’s nothing there. Nothing. I don’t recall anything from that point forward no matter how badly I try to remember.
This is what my brother told me he witnessed as he arrived back at the Airbnb five hours later with Gloria.
And until this day, I still don’t want to believe this happened. But according to my brother…
It truly did happen.
My brother is going to write this part of the story because he’s the one that has this locked in his memory for life. And for the sake of the story, my name will be Alex.
Here is my brother Shane’s point of view - his perspective on what he witnessed that crazy night. Wow man… This is so fucking nuts. So buckle up and be prepared. I understand you don’t know who I am, but I swear, I’m not a bad person. Okay.
Yeah so, I guess I’m Shane now. Unreal…
Okay. Here we go. Meat and potatoes.
We arrive back at the Airbnb and I see Alex outside in the front of the house wearing only socks and he’s running around on top of the grass like an animal yanking out handfuls of grass from underneath him.
I look at Gloria and we’re both baffled at what we just saw.
First thing I said was - “Oh yeah! This dood is off his rocker right about now - as I parked the car.
We both hop out of the car and walk up to the front door. I slide the key into the door, it unlocks, but there’s a chair behind the door and it’s tipped over blocking the entry way and only leaving enough space for a crack. We both awkwardly look at one another and as I’m about to call out for my brother, I hear someone sprinting towards the door and bang!
The fuckin idiot shuts the door on us.
I then knock on the door softly because It’s almost 1 in the morning as I don’t want to make too much noise. God only knows what this kid has been doing since me and Gloria left.
After I knock on the door a few times, I hear the chair getting pushed to the side and my brother slightly opens the door. I take a peek inside, and his nose is broken, lips are bubbled up and his left eye is completely shut, black and blue and swollen.
He then drops to his knees, and begins crying but no sound is coming out of him! You know… Like when you get smacked by your parents when you’re a kid and it shocks the soul of you? Yeah, that kind of cry.
I don’t react to what he’s doing to not scare the shit out of Gloria, because she’s right beside me. So I push the door open and tell Gloria to hang on a second and shut the door and lock it.
I pick his busted ass up and sit him on the couch. I look around the house and it’s in complete shambles. Our clothes are everywhere, there’s food all over the fuckin walls. It was chaotic. And my brother is now sitting up breathing frantically.
I ask him - “what in the fuck happened?”
He looks at me. Face looking like he got into a boxing match with Rocky Marciano and whispers to me.
“Dood… There’s a leprechaun in the bathroom.”
“A fuckin what now?” - I said with the most bewildered look on my face. I mean I must have… I wish I would have taken a picture of my face at that very moment. I should have taken pictures of everything so this idiot could see the havoc he wreaked on that night.
My imbecile brother continues - “I’m telling you. There’s a fuckin leprechaun in the fuckin bathroom and this little lucky charms motherfucker won’t tell me where he hid the gold!”
“A leprechaun in the bathroom. What the fuck happened to you?” I said as I felt my blood beginning to boil.
The Imbecile then says - “Don’t worry. Don’t worry! I hogtied that little bitch and stuffed my underwear in its mouth. It’s in the bathtub. But don’t go in there. Don’t go in there. This thing fucked me up!”
And now I can hear someone fumbling in the bathroom moaning very softly. I looked at my brother and said - “What in the fuck did you do Alex?”
He replies - “I’m telling you. It’s a fucking leprechaun.”
“Okay. Okay.” - I said. “Stay right here and just, don’t move. Don’t do anything. Just keep still.
His eyes were so huge and dilated. He was so fuckin high. He had heartbeat pulses pumping from the top of his head.
I rushed back over to the front door and told Gloria that my brother got into a fight with a couple of guys at a pub while me and her were out and that her friend Katrina left because she got scared. She told me that was the first time she met that girl tonight so she really didn’t care and shrugged it off. Which was a huge relief to me. I told her thank you for a wonderful night. She understood. W said our goodbyes. I shut the door. And now… What the fuck is in the bathroom? Or better yet, who, is in the bathroom? Because let’s face it. This motherfucker did not find and fight with a leprechaun tonight. No way. There’s just no fuckin way.
I rush over to the bathroom and my brother leaps at my legs, and he’s holding onto me for dear life, begging me!
He says - “Please don’t untie it! It’s got magical powers! PLEASE!!!
Now, at this very moment? I am sort of hesitant about opening the bathroom door. But I snap out of it and open it. What the fuck. A leprechaun? No, I don’t think so.
I open the door…
“Holy shit.” - I said while covering my hands with my mouth. The floor was smeared in blood as if someone was dragged, leading to the huge cast iron tub. Smeared bloody handprints were all over the tub. And now I hear the faint moan coming from the tub. My legs are shaking and feel like they’re ready to give out on me. I was scared shitless.
“What did my brother do? Who is in that bathtub? I pray to God Katrina isn’t in there right now.” - I said to myself completely freaked out.
I slowly walk up to the bathtub…
And sure enough, there is a hogtied person lying in it with my brother's underwear stuffed in their mouth with a ripped t-shirt tied around their head and mouth, but… It’s not Katrina.
It’s a little person. You know, a dwarf? And… He’s literally dressed up in a leprechaun costume…
And how, on God's green earth did he end up here?
He has no idea I’m standing above him. I reach down to begin untying him but he begins squirming and screaming. I told him to relax and that I was here to help him.
And then My imbecile brother Alex, rushes into the bathroom and tackles me down. Stands up and begins shouting at this poor bastard hogtied in the tub - “Tell me where it is you greedy little fuck! Tell me!!!
I jumped to my feet and slapped my brother back to his childhood. Grabbed him by the throat, tripped him and threw him to the ground and said - “are you fuckin crazy? Do you want to go to prison for kidnapping? What in the fuck is the matter with you? You dumb fuck!!”
He then looks up at me with this pessimistic look on his face and says - “It’s a fucking leprechaun dood. A leprechaun.”
I was absolutely dumbfounded and furious at this point. I have this stranger in my Airbnb rental, hogtied and gagged and squirming and screaming and my brother thinks that he’s a leprechaun…
I can’t make this shit up.
He was so fucking high on those mushrooms. He was absolutely convinced that this man was a leprechaun. So… I had to play the game.
It was the only way to help this poor son of a bitch that my brother had kidnapped and hogtied in our Airbnb rental.
I calmly whispered and told him to please leave the bathroom so I could interrogate the leprechaun and find out where he was hiding the pot of gold.
My brother slowly stood up to his feet, face busted up, his cock and balls all shriveled and tight, looked at the man dressed up as a leprechaun, smiled at him with an evil grin and just, walked away…
And as he walked away, I told him to go and please put some clothes on, lay down in bed, and that I would handle the leprechaun. That I, would find out where the gold was hidden…
And that’s all I’m saying. I’m giving the computer back to my dumbass of a brother to finish off whatever else he wants to write.
Pretty outlandish right? I know. I know. You must think that I’m bat shit crazy huh? Okay so, to make the rest of this long story short, my brother Shane never told me what he did with the poor guy I hogtied and, well… i don’t remember how this guy came to be in my possession. I really don’t.
The only thing my brother Shane told me was that he ungagged him, untied him, and that he was extremely pissed off. And that he had compensated him for his troubles.
Man, I felt so horrible. I felt so horrible…
What I do remember though is waking up that following afternoon with my face all fucked up. Dehydrated with a tremendous splitting headache. I had no clue as to why I looked and felt the way I did. It was terrifying.
All of our luggage was packed and my brother was just sitting there, legs crossed and his arms folded.
Hey man… Take it from me. Don’t do fuckin drugs.
Regards, “Alex” & “Shane”

2024.05.15 08:05 Quirky-swaggurl-420 I have no idea where to work and my appearance doesn’t help, any advice??

Kind of long, but any advice or input would be greatly appreciated :)
I (22F) have been working in fast food/ retail since I was 17 and I’m finally ready to take that leap to leave my current job and find one that will help advance my career and give me at least some financial stability. I also live in NorCal for context (not sure if I’d be willing to move quite yet.) I’ve been at my current retail job since 2021 and was honestly just going to stay there until I was completely finished with college but I just received my AA and the current management im under is so difficult to work with and extremely offensive I can barely take it not to mention I’ve been in management for about 2 years now and have gone from at least 20hr a week (part time) to less than 10hr a week, less than some associates and they’re all 3 hour shifts so I’m not even allowed to take a 10min break though im not even sure if that’s legal??
I am very fortunate to not have to pay rent as I live with my parents and I only have to worry about paying for my car, gas, phone, school, necessity’s etc. So no rent is a life saver in this economy. With that being said I don’t necessarily need the highest paying job quite yet (willing to work my way up or gain helpful experience) though that would be ideal for anyone. I just want to be able to find something that fits with my personality/ needs and also doesn’t care the way I look. I know sometimes you have to do what u gotta do but I cannot take working somewhere I’m miserable at and I understand that is a privilege within itself so I’m just trying to use the time I do have to really find what I’m passionate about and not be scared to try new things.
I still want to go back to school to get my bachelors degree since it’s always been a dream of mine, but since I pretty much pay for everything out of pocket besides some degree of financial aide, I don’t want to just aimlessly transfer somewhere with no clue on what to study which has been my issues for some time. I feel like my interest haven’t changed much and neither have my dreams to further my education so I’ve pretty much been saying the same things since probably before high school and I still have no clue what exactly the direction is I should go. I would love to gain some first hang experience to know if getting my B.A. is even worth it for the field I want to go into or what major would benefit me the best.
I have many interests and ideas as to what I could possibly do but I feel like as much as I say them out loud no one really relates so I always feel alone or like there’s no possible job for me that I’ll feel happy in. I mean I think majority of people would rather not work and focus their lives on their hobbies and passions but unfortunately that’s not in the cards for most people and though I sometimes live in that dreamland that doesn’t change the fact that I’m extremely dedicated, hard-working and really want to make a difference in whatever field I end up in. So I guess I’ll leave a list of the things I’m interested in, in case anybody has some advice or input on any occupations I’ve listed or have experience in anything I’ve listed.
I guess another thing to mention is that I was recently applying to a lot of jobs in childcare and pretty much every interview I went to turn me down on the spot because of my appearance. Of course I hear the stories of looking less professional due to your tattoos, piercings, etc., which I never understand. I don’t even have a single tattoo or piercing, not even my ears, but I have bright pink hair and that has been such a downside for the interviewing processes, even some retail jobs like Box Lunch for example doesn’t accept colored hair when they’re literally a pop culture store and share the same company as Hot Topic. I don’t want to have to change my appearance for a job. I know it’s just hair but I was never able to express myself the way I wanted to and the amount of money and maintenance that goes with having colored hair would not be worth it to me to color black just to get a job. It would feel like I’m altering myself and changing something that makes me feel good about myself is unfair and already puts a bad taste in my mouth about the company because they are willing to look over my qualifications and work ethic due to one minor detail in my appearance. One of these jobs I even had two on the phone interviews that went amazing and was going to my final in person interview and was literally meeting with a family for a behavioral technician job and the first thing they (the company) told me was I would need to change my hair to even be considered and I had to eventually politely end the interview because they still wanted to me to meet a kid despite straight up telling me they will not hire me if I didn’t immediately change my hair… and I’d be working with a family, not even in a ‘ public setting.’ I would just love to be able to work in a community that embraces people for their differences for the way they express themselves, and encourages self expression.
Anyways, here are some of my interests and I’d be eternally grateful to hear any feedback! Maybe you’ve worked in some of these environments and have advice or horror stories, if you have similar interests to me let me know what kind of job you have because I’m sure I don’t even know the formal titles to half of these jobs, or even have other ideas that match my interests. Thank you thank you thank you!
TLDR: I have so many interests and have no idea where to go with my next steps in my career and schooling, and would love some advice based off of my interest and experience. My unnaturally colored hair gets me nowhere. My experience and interests are listed below.
My schooling/ experience so far: * 5 years of theatre under my belt (onstage/backstage/management) * Just graduated with my AA in Social & Behavioral Sciences (Random but was recommended to do so based on all of the same interest I told my counselor some odd years ago) * Most of my college classes were focused in sociology, psychology, and child development, which has been super interesting so I am willing to branch out from my interest because I did find a lot of interest in the classes I’ve taken previously. * Have worked in retail for four years; Pretty well received by people * A nanny to 4 kids (ages 4-16) for about 3.5 years as well
My personality: (not sure if this will help with knowing if I would be a good fit for any of the jobs listed )
i’m extremely bubbly and can have my extroverted moments, but I can also be introverted at times and when work needs to get done, I will figure out the best way to do it and get to work. I work pretty well with a team and always have ideas flowing and bouncing around, but I can also excel working on my own/have no issues being independent with my work. I don’t have a huge preference on a fast versus slow paced work environment. I would like something flexible, but I have no issue with getting into a routine. I feel like I am truly pretty flexible when it comes to my work environment, I just really want a place that I can express myself and be surrounded by a community of people similar to me. I love to be innovative and creative.
My interests/ ideas: (sorry kinda random and jumps around)
As you can see, most of my interest have to do with childcare and the arts, which are some of the lowest paying jobs/difficult fields to get into, but it’s what I most passionate about and what I can actually see myself being happy doing for a long time. i’m also not opposed to working in one certain field for a while and then branching out to something different or related further down the line, I just want to know what step I should take next so I’m not just floating around doing nothing and being/fill, I just want to know what step I should take next so I’m not just floating around doing nothing and being/feeling useless.
Thank you so much to anyone who responds with advice and kind words :)

2024.05.14 20:09 Boring_Waltz_9545 Weekly New Musical Grosses Analysis- Week Ending 5/12/2014

Source- Broadway Grosses, Broadway Box Office - 5/12/2024 (broadwayworld.com)
T-MINUS 33 DAYS TO TONYS.
Another good week for Broadway, $35 million is right about where the grosses were this time in those 2017/18/19 seasons that were so lucrative. Tony nominations are starting to take affect, Suffs posted their first earning week this week, and Hell's Kitchen sold incredibly well. I am including award wins roundups as well (Outer Critics Circle announced yesterday). As always, I have put the weekly operating cost (where known, and a rough estimation if not), and an estimated profit or loss for the week. I do not have all of the information for every (most) shows, but if you have access to information about shows and would like to share it with me, please do!
My methodology for estimating profit (or loss) is as follows:
  1. Subtract 16% from grosses. This is credit card fees, as well as the cut that the theater owners take off the top of the grosses, in addition to charging a flat rent. The weekly operating cost is usually the fixed cost for the production, which does not account for this cut%. If you get a chance to look at a show's offering papers, this number is the Net Operating Profit.
  2. Compare that new number to the weekly operating cost, if it's lower, subtract weekly minimum guarantees, and record the difference as the loss for that week. If the reserve is known for a show, I will record that as well.
  3. If it made money, subtract either 20% or 30% for royalties (after subtracting WMGs),
NOTE: If an awarding body is not listed, that show was not nominated by that group
Grosses (chronological order from opening)-
Back to the Future: The Musical - $872k gross, 78% capacity, $93 atp (Up ~$29k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $733k; Weekly Operating Cost: $815k/week; Estimated profit (loss): (106k)
Award Nominations Roundup: Outer Critics Circle (5), Tonys (2)
Another lackluster week for Back to the Future. No major Tony nominations, an upcoming tour which could be discouraging tourists. This is the first time they have had back-to-back loosing weeks during their run. Hopefully the summer is kind to this show.
Merrily We Roll Along - $1.5 million gross, 100% capacity, $196 atp (Up ~82k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $1.275 million; Weekly Operating Cost: $800k/week; Estimated profit (loss): $270k
2024 Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (5), Tonys (7\)*
Award Wins: 2023 Outer Critic Circle (2)
Hot ticket does hot ticket things. This production has already recouped, anything else is just icing on the cake. It has profited a total of nearly $1 million by my estimates.
The Notebook- $786k gross, 87% capacity, $110 atp (Up ~$113k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: 660k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: $620k/week; Estimated profit (loss): $12k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (3\), Outer Critics Circle (1), Drama Desk (2), Tonys (3)*
Good rebound week for the Notebook, they're back in the black, and grosses this level could hold. Especially since the soundtrack seems to be being well received.
Water for Elephants - $1.0 million gross, 83% capacity, $115 atp (Up ~$64k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $902k; Weekly Operating Cost: $805k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): $61k; Remaining Reserve: $2.6 million
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (1\), Outer Critics Circle (5*), Drama Desk (7), Tonys (7*), PETA (1)*
Award Wins: PETA (1), Outer Critics Circle (1)
Water for Elephants continues to chug along. It's posted essentially the same grosses the last three weeks, and this is a good place for it to stick around at. Congratulations to Jessica Stone for her Outer Critics Circle win for directing.
The Who's Tommy - $991k gross, 85% capacity, $123 atp (Up ~$80k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $832k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: ~$700k-750k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): $40k-$75k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (3\), Outer Critics Circle (6*), Drama Desk (1), Tonys (1*)*
Award Wins: Outer Critics Circle (1)
Good week for Tommy. Lukewarm Tony response nonetheless, they're doing just fine. Congratulations Peter Nigrini for his win for projections.
The Outsiders - $1.0 million gross, 100% capacity, $124 atp (Up ~$129k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $860k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: ~$700k-$750k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): $68k-$108k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (3\), Outer Critics Circle (3*), Drama Desk (9*), Tonys (12*)*
Award Wins: Outer Critics Circle (1)
Excellent week for Outsiders. Expect these grosses to hold for a while. Congratulations Brian MacDevitt for his win for lighting.
Lempicka - $419k gross, 87% capacity, $57 atp (Up ~$144k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $352k; Weekly Operating Cost: ~$660k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): ($322k)
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (3\), Tonys (3)*
I'm glad to see that they're playing to mostly full houses as they come to the end of their run. Still took a 300k loss.
Suffs - $802k gross, 93% capacity, $110 atp (Up ~$171k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $674k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: ~$640k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): $6k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (4\), Outer Critics Circle (5*), Drama Desk (8), Tonys (6*)*
Award Wins: Outer Critics Circle (3\)*
This show is the first to really feel the impact of the Tony nominations, posting their first earning week this week. Not that Outer Critics Circle counts for much grosses wise or Tony predictions wise, but a massive congratulations to the production for winning Best Musical, as well as Shaina Taub for Book and Score.
Hell's Kitchen - $1.5 million gross, 101% capacity, $127 atp (Up ~$233 from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $1.06 million; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: ~$800k-$850k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): $108k-$141k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (3\), Outer Critics Circle (1), Drama Desk (5), Tonys (13*)*
Award Wins: Outer Critics Circle (1),
And this is what being the leading Tony nominee as well as having a massive IP will do. Congratulations Kecia Lewis for her win for featured performer. (And to the show for being Jesse Green's pick to win the Tony I guess)
Heart of Rock and Roll - $319k gross, 69% capacity, $54 atp (Up ~$31k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $267k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: $650k; Estimated Profit (Loss): ($407k)
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (1\), Drama Desk (1)*
After a good week last week HORAR faltered this week. Apparently, this is financed through June, and I'm always happy to see people keeping their jobs.
The Great Gatsby - $1.1 million gross, 90% capacity, $109 atp (Up $130k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $991k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: $800k-850k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): 87k-$124k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (1), Outer Critics Circle (4\), Drama Desk (1), Tonys (1)*
Award Wins: Outer Critics Circle (2)
This show is the current leader in the Broadway World fan awards in almost every category. They're going to be just fine with this cast, posting their best week yet. Congratulations Paul Tate dePoo III and Linda Cho for their wins in scenic design and costumes, respectively.
The Wiz - $1.5 million gross, 95% capacity, $128 atp (Up ~$109k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $1.316 million; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: $800k-$850k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): $309k-$344k
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (2\)*
The Wiz got no Tony nominations, but they don't need them. This show will be just fine on the Broadway stop of their tour.
Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club - $2.0 million gross, 99% capacity, $235 atp (Up ~$89k from last week)
Gross Less-Fees: $1.687 million; Weekly Operating Cost: $974k/week; Estimated Profit (Loss): 464k; Reserves Remaining: $2.2 million
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (5\), Outer Critics Circle (2*), Drama Desk (5*), Tonys (9*)*
I mourn the loss of accessible theater with this Cabaret revival. That said, glad to see it's doing well. This show also has some really strong advance ticket sales so it should continue to be just fine.
Illinoise - $679k gross, 94% capacity, $89 atp (Down ~$4k)
Gross Less-Fees: $570k; Estimated Weekly Operating Cost: $625k; Estimated Profit (Loss): ($64k)
Award Nominations Roundup: Drama League (1\), Outer Critics Circle (6*), Drama Desk (4*), Tonys (4*)*
Award Wins: Outer Critics Circle (1)
Obviously the grosses for this week are affected by the show missing a performance, but more importantly losing their production stage manager, Thomas Gates, and my heart goes out to the entire production team, cast, and crew for their loss. From a purely financial perspective, not sure if this gamble is going to pay off (it needs to average 1.05 mil to recoup, even with a Tony win that's unlikely), but it will likely play through its run, especially if it wins some Tonys. Congratulations Justin Peck for his win for choreography.
Discuss below!

2024.05.14 10:16 Consistent_You_5056 The New First Amendment

I…Without a source in void…Blank nothingness, no substance, material solidified, primordial concepts birthed from a dreaming consciousness left alone for immeasurable time… It was fear of the fragility to make existence…The first semblance of identity, already assumed the highest of dreamer, and miraculous freewill, a potential probability of "OM" unraveling. To vocally create after the amassed power to do so, could be a mistake of hellish surrealism, a failure of truth if it was to last eternity-should the beginning entities choose evil by choice, as made to believe, they're finite beings…inconceivable forever is a God… The perfection becomes the most vast elaboration conceivable, and, with a noise so loudly ultimate, the voice splices through the nothingness with a bang so violent, a literal universe awakens into momentary coalescence, attracting itself together into form at ultimate light speed, and yet slows down into a divisional amount of substances eventually labeled…linear, motion and time arrived…All of them asked if it was a perversion…no straight lines, folding on itself…ya, I smoke weed in my basement… The smartest said a vibratory process in an elastic inert medium, filling up universal space…a visible manifestation of a whole spectrum of electromagnetic waves, it's condensed hard, mixed within itself, from the inside out even made to expand…Gravitational warps, mass balls of weight create autobons, super highways ships can travel…sun's are harnessed, free energy exists, the utopian reality becomes actuality…some can only survive so long without destroying themselves before thousands of years fighting to survive…entire star systems or planets are capable to mobilize themselves into safety zones, remaining self sustaining and untouched by anything harmful for millions of years…in a bright future we'll never be "in"… "Swat!Smack!!!"...fly guts on my acrylic painting…cat urine soaked spotted drywall underneath the drop ceiling of a basement cellar attempt of a rental... space heater warmth resting on a concrete block of stone cold landlord profiteering, profit on an unbreathable musk heap. Mold permeates, damp dirt on a fresh spring rain, draining wetness into it... downloads of WiFi network binge watching the phone for t.v...Bi-law Officer's want to see me drooling on a pillow scratching my nut's in a torn up empty room, to drop an investigative neighbor's complaint of dwelling in decrepitude, that lowers the value of their home...at least my landlord isn't knocking with a human skin costume-because he's really a giant cockroach looking for "Orion's Belt", no, he's looking for regular handjobs from my ex's, and I know this from an eight minute recording of his request, obligingly sent to me from one of them...there are no bug's in the basement, just centipedes and daddy long legs, plus flies, attracted to the poop stained carpet above the bowing drywall, above me... there's no vent cover as the metal pops out through support beam's fitted with the heat tubes terribly hollow, this space is industrial...my particle board door has a dent two inches deep from a rock an ex took to it...it's about four inches thicker on the bottom, water has warped the wood to not close properly…I'm underground enough to survive like a roach in nukes,.though..Joe's apartment had company… People die of respiratory illness due to bedbugs or roach's...Overweight people run health stores, or give "qualified advice" for dietary athleticism…The most easiest of jobs make the most money, as nepotist's live as kings and queens upon the slavery of the less. The division is social and darwinian, brutality, and dominance…and it's a fluke for an individual to charm or be born into the luxurious…the unshared fullness may even morally be the great undoing… It is fear to lose such comfort or control. The very thought of equal entity implies shared power, and that is power to destroy. Why trust the loving power of another??? An epic story of hypocrisy and chosen specials… Dialectical psychosis to believe the purity is real. In cloud's to finally catch up to the surface of this original "bang", the noise gets louder…and I pop through the thought subjugated…big inhale… The entrance door, swelling out from the makeshift framing, jarring a gap that no seal's could fix. It's letting in breezes uncomfortable and chilling, and to get to that entrance, is a steep wooden step set that looks rather haunting... I was frightened I might have ended up in a freezer bag when I viewed the place before renting...took it because it was cheap, and I'd be alone with the grace of freedom, since a God's given none...the doorway is jarring to every female that's attempted a visit in this "abode", and bid farewell... I hear Shakespeare's dogs bark, the cat's patter as Ken's bus bird's chirp, flying over the nest, ambulance sirens, neighbor's arguing, and we have raccoons and squirrels inside, scratching and defecating along with the mice in almost every wall…it's Noah's Ark again…

2024.05.14 07:23 miss24601 How to tell studio director you won’t be back next year?

Hey everyone. I’ve been a dance teacher for a handful of years now with a local dance school. Over the past year, I’ve become very frustrated with the studio and the director and her attitude and business practices.
First of all, I feel that I am not being paid what I am worth. My specialty is teaching for the Song & Dance category at competitions, which requires specialized training and teaching skills that are very in-demand in my area as the category is exploding in popularity.
The dance school has no studio space and currently rents out a school a few nights a week to hold classes. While I don’t believe that dancers require an amazing studio space to succeed, I do think that the limitations of our space can be detrimental to the development of the dancers. We have no mirrors, no bars, no spring floors, and two classes are held in the main room at a time, with both teachers trying to talk and play their music over each other.
In order to keep dance affordable, the studio director insists on ordering as few professional costumes as possible. I find her commitment to keeping the price accessible very admirable, however, my competition dancers went out onstage wearing T-shirts and leggings. Every single judge gave us comments on our costumes, and I believe that the cost of a professional costume is well worth it for competitive dancers.
While parent involvement is essential to the success of their dancers, the mom’s here have way too much say over decisions made for the dancers. I’ve been having so much trouble finding a costume for one of my tap classes, when I finally found one that I liked and would work, the director told me “X’s mom doesn’t like it, so it won’t work”. Like what??? Since when is that how this works??
Overall, I admire the studios commitment to accessible dance classes and working with what they’ve got, but I feel that my dancers are not being giving the resources necessary to set themselves up for success.
So why am I losing my mind over having to tell the studio director I won’t be back next year??
As I mentioned, my specialized teaching skills are in high demand at the moment. I’ve had three separate dance schools in the city reach out to me with offers to join their staff. At this point it would be stupid to stick around here.
But, because we’re such a small and limited school, we’re very close. I’ve become very close with so many dancers and their parents. I owe so much to the studio director and the opportunities she gave me. The studio is actually the oldest studio in the city, and will be celebrating its 60th anniversary next season. I already know of one teacher that won’t be coming back and two more that are very much considering going elsewhere. I feel so awful leaving her and my dancers. So I am feeling so much agony trying to figure out how to break the news, and I want to do it soon so she doesn’t have to scramble with planning for next year.
Has anyone else ever been through something similar? How did you break the news? Would I be a complete dick if I reached out to some parents of dancers with particularly noticeable potential and gave them the name of where I’m going next season? Feeling very conflicted, and any advice would be appreciated.

2024.05.13 15:16 Optimal-You-8238 Unsatisfied with fiancé, should I break up?

Hello all,
I’ll try to get to get to the point. I (25F) have been dating fiance (33M, almost 34M), for a year and a half. We knew ea other as work mates (long story) for a few months before and have been living together since this January (when we got engaged).
I do love him and he’s a great guy overall. Treats me well, respects me, tries to fix things I dislike, doesn’t watch porn anymore, wants a family, works hard etc.
At the beginning the age difference was if anything a plus for attraction, as I’ve only had one other relationship in college years ago w a guy my age, and I really appreciated him being more mature and knowing what he wants out of life. However now (and for the past little while) I’m questioning whether this is the right relationship for me.
For work reasons that cannot be fixed any time soon, we must both work from home as we work together. Usually he works more than me and I take care of the home so it is a nice balance.
Here’s my main struggle. At the beginning we had the usual intense honeymoon sexual relationship. Living apart also accentuated that. I remember him craving it lots and saying how he thought we’d never even be able to work together without just getting it on all the time. In hindsight it was just an infatuated man speaking but it really falsely set up my expectations. Overtime sex has quieted down as is normal, especially towards the time when we were about to get engaged and I was spending lots of time at his place (genuinely bc of work). It went down from 4-5 times a week to about 3-4.
In my other relationship, given that the guy was in his late teens/early twenties and that we were both toxic AF, we had crazy sex all the time. I know this is unrealistic but I do yearn for it quite a bit. Overtime our sex life has gone down to 2-4/week, w 80% of the weeks being at about 3x.
I’ve had many more convos than I wish to admit regarding this topic w him and how I feel undesired and how he’s done w me sexually now that I’m not new anymore, and have just grown extremely insecure bc I know he’s putting the effort to do out that frequency (he’s alluded to it), whereas in my head and from stories my mom has told me, the first year or two we should be banging like rabbits.
This especially kills me when I notice him checking out other women and because I do crave intensity in general and just feel a bit too old in this relationship. I’ve also gotten cheated on p badly in the past so probably doesn’t help.
This translates to me feeling undesired, not being affectionate w him, resenting him, feeling masculine for wanting more, feeling like I’m gonna end up unsatisfied forever since as he and the relationship age, it’ll likely become less.
I don’t feel v comfortable initiating at this point bc I just feel v insecure in general. I do have toys and costumes that we use sometimes. And I do believe he is very attracted to me and that I please him.
My main issues are 1) spending all this time together and only a tiny bit of our time being sexual (unlike w my ex), 2) thinking this isn’t right 3) dreading our sexual future. This is the most beautiful and fit I’ve ever been, what’s it gonna be like as he ages and I do too and we become more and more accostumed, have kids etc? He’s had plenty of relationships, both serious and casual, but I haven’t and feel like I’ll be missing out. He also cites the age thing as having less of a drive, saying he is simply focused on building a life together rather than sex. But for me, I’ve come to realize that it’s probably my love language. Lately I’ve just been rejecting him which I’ve never done before and which isn’t good for us, but I just don’t wanna feel like I’m always available anymore. Makes me feel taken for granted.
Meanwhile our families are getting to know ea other and planning the wedding.
I know this frequency per se doesn’t probably sound bad to you, reader but i just feel old, once again, craving intensity and passion. And I am a very sexual, free spirited person in general and just feel like this is breaking me. It also feels low because it is such a small percentage of our time together. I also keep imagining how it’s gonna turn into 1-2x / week not that far from now when I’m still in my 20s, and it might be too late to leave then. I do leave the house and have a life outside of him but it doesn’t help all that much. And he is really happy w this/ me / a stable life in general.
Don’t know if it’s worth breaking up a committed relationship over this, nor if I’m even expecting too much. My single friends have awful dynamics so don’t want that either.
Advice please? Thank you
Update
I have brought up to him the possibility of moving back out or working in a rented room and he hasn’t taken it well at all. He claims I’m never happy and won’t be with this either, that he’s given up his home office for me to be in it, etc. I really do think I would probably feel better in a situation like that but it would also require paying a rent I don’t now, plus we are trying to save for the wedding. my main issue is just wanting more intensity and passion, and not feeling like an old married couple and I have been telling him this for a while, so don’t understand why he’d even feel blindsided. I am aware this is a horrible place to be at as a woman, where he feels unappreciated and like I’m wasting his time. Which is why it’s crucial for me to figure out my shit
Update 2: I’ve been getting a lot of comments on the rejection thing. I’ve literally done that maybe twice and it was in this last week so not a frequent thing whatsoever
Final update: we have discussed this all once again and I’ve told him I’m not interested in having to do it again, and that I will make an effort to initiate as well. He’s invested in our relationship and I do not take that for granted, so I will continue to try, but if things don’t get better (on both of our parts) then I will strongly reconsider it. I will also be seeking therapy. Thanks all

Monday, May 13, 2013 - Jackson v. AEG Live Day 10
Trial Day 10
Katherine and Rebbie Jackson are in the courtroom.
Stacy Walker and Travis Payne, witnesses for AEG are testifying out of order as they will be leaving for Japan for work.
Stacy Walker Testimony

AEG direct
AEG attorney Jessica Stebbins Bina is doing the direct examination.
Stacy Walker was the Associate Choreographer for the This Is It tour. She's a choreographer & director, has worked with MJ, Gaga, Britney Spears, Usher & others. Stacy Walker said she 1st worked w/ MJ in 96 on his movie, Ghosts, a job that she said was the break of her career.
"He never made a music video, only made movies," Walker said
On the "History" tour, Walker worked about 6 months. She was one of the two girl dancer in "The Way You Make Me Feel" :
"I feel it's my song"
History tour: dancers rehearsed by themselves in LA then went to France, rehearsed in a studio at Disneyland. MJ showed up one or two times. Walker didn't remember if MJ had a doctor on staff while on the History tour. She never saw any signs of drug abuse, saw MJ on stage -amazing!
Walker told the jury Travis Payne was the main choreographer for This Is It. She thinks she was an independent contractor hired by AEG. Walker said the casting of dancers began in April 2009. She was the associated choreographer, got direction from Payne/Ortega and Michael
Walker said for the This is It tour a lot of choreography was done many years ago. The only new one was "Drill" and everyone worked together. "Drill" was like a soldier marching dancing, Walker said.
"MJ said we can't use guns, since it was not good for the kids," Walker recalled
Walker said during rehearsals for This Is It in April/May 09, MJ was there occasionally, but they were teaching dancers the choreography
During rehearsals at the Forum, MJ was supposed to be there more often, Walker said. Payne worked w/ MJ, she was in charge of the dancers
Walker: "I can remember being frustrated at times, he (MJ) wasn't coming when we were hoping he would."
"I wasn't shocked he wasn't coming, I was irritated, but I wasn't shocked," Walker said, noting that maybe MJ wanted to stay with his kids
Walker said she never saw MJ sick. She said he seemed normal to her, he was much thinner, but she never felt he was acting intoxicated
"He looked much thinner to me than in 97"
She said, but she doesn't remember noticing a dramatic difference between April and June of 09.
Walker: "I remember 1 night he excused himself to his room, wasn't feeling well. He didn't say anything, it was a general understanding"
Walker remembered MJ wearing jackets/layers but didn't think of him being insanely cold:
"Different artists like different temperatures. He wore a lot of jackets, I assumed he was cold but he never said anything. I never saw him shivering. He just wore a lot of jackets"
She said she recalled one incident in which Jackson may have appeared groggy or drugged, but she said she couldn't remember whether she witnessed or heard about it from others on the show
Jessica Bina: "Did you ever see Michael Jackson drink any alcohol?" Walker: "No"
"My only concern was that he was really thin and I wish he ate more," Walker recalled
Walker got emotional when she said she wasn't looking for things that could be wrong w/ him at the time. "I wish I was," she said.
When she talked about his last two rehearsals, Walker cried saying he was great.
"He was great, I finally saw what I wanted to see. He was great, very bratty and sassy as he was. He was just a funny guy at times," Walker said
Walker said she called her mom after the rehearsal and asked her to buy a ticket for the opening and she did. "It was great." Walker said she was so encouraged she called her mother and asked her to buy a ticket for opening night in London and she did.
"It was great. I was very excited and relieved and hopeful", she testified

Bina:"Any doubts he could perform the tour?"
Walker: "Not after those two nights" (June 23 and 24)
She said despite Jackson missing multiple rehearsals, she was convinced based on his performances the last two days of his life that he was ready for the series of shows.
On June 25, Walker was rehearsing Michael's disappearing act. She said Payne called saying he heard on the radio MJ was in the hospital. Walker:
"I remember telling them don't worry, everything will be fine. I didn't believe, I thought that everything was going to be ok"

Bina: "When you heard Michael passed away, were you surprised?" Walker: "Yes, it was shocking, 12 hours ago he did "Beat It" and "Thriller" "
When asked if Walker was familiar with the name Dr. Conrad Murray, she said yes, but she never met him or knew who he was prior to June 25
Travis Payne had a loving, trusting relationship with MJ, Walker testified. Payne would go over to MJ's house around 1PM to work. Choreographer Travis Payne, she said, would often rehearse with Jackson in another room or at his rented mansion
Walker said she felt MJ was more open this time around. In Ghosts she said they didn't talk at all, but that he was so nice to everybody. Walker said she remembers telling MJ about McDonald's - he had never been and she told him he had to go
Regarding the This Is It tour, Walker doesn't know if MJ was excited.
"He always seemed happy, he liked to watch the dancers dance"
Walker said though MJ was the nicest person ever, they were not friends.
"Guarded is a strong word, he let people see Michael Jackson, not Michael"

"I just never in a million years thought he'd leave us or pass away. It just never crossed my mind", Walker said crying, "I was frustrated but never thought that would happen"
Walker didn't remember MJ having cold/stomach flu.
"I've seen people that were drunk or high and he didn't appear to be that way"
Jackson cross
Planitff's attorney Kevin Boyle did the cross examination. Boyle asked Walker if her job was to focus on dancers and not MJ. She said "Yes"
Boyle: "And it wasn't your job to look if he was sick?" Walker: "It was not"
She also agreed that it wasn't her job to supervise Dr. Murray or observe MJ's health. Walker didn't have info if Dr. Murray gave him Propofol
Walker: "I was relieved because he was there, he was going full out. Last 2 rehearsals it was the first time we saw everything come together"
Boyle plays clip of film Ghosts. Walker said MJ was pretty impressive, played 5 different roles.
"Probably one of the hardest jobs I had. He was a huge risk taker, was very innovative as a dancer and choreographer," Walker opined, saying he was an excellent dancer, confident
Walker said MJ and her were not friends, they had a work relationship. Walker never went to his house, had dinner or social interaction. MJ never told Walker about his health, never discussed Propofol use since they didn't talk about that stuff
Boyle: "Did you ever see Michael covered in blankets watching rehearsal with heaters?" Walker: "I never saw heaters or blankets"
Walker heard MJ had problems with prescription drugs from the press. She also heard about the sleeping problems. Walker said she knew Ortega kept on Michael about eating and thinks they had a massage therapist come in for him
"I've seen other artists bring chefs, masseuses, trainers sometimes," Walker said. The idea of bringing a doctor on tour didn't surprise her

Walker:"Michael didn't want to change the choreography, it wasn't broken, so why change it?" She thought it was going to be a great show
"Did Mr. Phillips ever tell you he instructed Mr. Gongaware in writing to take out footage that (made Jackson) look like a skeleton?", Boyle asked
"He didn't tell me that", Walker replied.
Christopher Rogers Testimony
Jackson direct
Dr. Christopher Rogers, a deputy medical examiner, began testifying last week, but was interrupted to take other witnesses
Rogers testifies that he found no conditions during Michael Jackson's autopsy that would affect his long-term survival. Death was not due to trauma and was not caused by natural disease.
"He died of acute Propofol toxicity," Dr. Rogers said

Koskoff: "Did you find any factors that could impact his long-term survival?"
Dr. Rogers: "From the autopsy, no I did not"
AEG cross
AEG lawyer Kathryn Cahan did the bulk of the afternoon questioning of Rogers. She focused on the prescription drug aspect of Jackson's death. In response to a Cahan question, Rogers says Jackson's death was considered a 'polypharmacy death'. That means it involved multiple drugs. Rogers noted that propofol was the main drug that killed Jackson, but told jury that other drugs (benzodiazepines) were present.
Dr. Rogers said Michael's doctor, Dr. Murray, made a statement to the police saying he wasn't breathing but he felt a faint pulse
Cahan also asked Dr. Rogers whether he knew about other doctors treating Jackson before his death. Rogers says "Yes". Rogers says he became aware that dermatologist Arnold Klein was treating Jackson. Dr. Rogers said he was uncertain who MJ's primary physician was, he understood he was seeing several doctors
Cahan also asked whether he ever concluded that any other doctors contributed to Jackson's death.
"I don't believe so", Rogers said.
Cahan also asks about Jackson's weight at the time of his death. He weighed 136 pounds & was 5'9 with a Body Mass Index of 20.1, Rogers tells jury. Rogers testified that Michael Jackson's Body Mass Index was within the normal range. A BMI figure below 18.5 would be underweight.
"He looked thin in comparison to most people", Rogers said.
He says Jackson did not appear emaciated. Dr. Rogers said Jackson's body didn't have characteristics of someone who starved to death or had anorexia. Rogers said
"Jackson's health appeared excellent"

Cahan: "Did you rule out starvation as a possible cause of death?"
Dr. Rogers: "Yes"
Cahan: "Was his general health excellent?"
Dr. Rogers: "As far as the autopsy goes, yes"
There was more testimony about the condition of Jackson's lungs, which were damaged in a way that might lead to pneumonia or other problems.
Autopsy report:
  • MJ had lung damage, which wasn't cause of death but made this individual especially susceptible to adverse health effects
Dr. Rogers said Michael had a bit of degeneration of the lower thoracic spine, degenerative osteoarthritis of lower lumbar. Not sure how painful it was
Rogers testified he was interested in role of prescription drugs in Jackson's death based on finding propofol and other meds at the scene. Dr. Rogers said he had some concerns about drug abuse due to the investigator's report listing all the medications found at the house. He said he didn't find any opiates, opioids or Demerol in MJ's body. He had 1 other case of Propofol overdose, a person in the medical field. Dr. Rogers testified that propofol shouldn't be given in a home setting & when someone is sedated they need to be continuously monitored. Propofol, he said
"caused his death by sedation. Essentially, he was so sedated his vital functions stopped."
Jackson re-direct
Plaintiff's attorney Michael Koskoff asks Rogers about whether hospital treatments might have added weight to Jackson's body. Koskoff doesn't state how much weight might have been added to Jackson based on IV treatments by paramedics and hospital staff. Under questioning by Koskoff, Rogers said that by the time the Michael was weighed, intravenous fluids had been administered to him in the ambulance and at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, which could have increased his weight
Rogers did say that Jackson's body had some fat, but that most of his weight appeared to be in his muscles. Rogers testified that Jackson didn't have much fat on him
"I don't know what his normal weight would be," Dr. Rogers expressed.
Rogers testified that Jackson's organs didn't show any sign of lasting damage. With that, he was done testifying
Travis Payne Testimony

AEG direct
Travis Payne took the witness stand and began explaining his experience. Payne worked with Paula Abdul, Brandy, Diana Ross, Mick Jagger, Marilyn Manson & MJ among others.
He tells the jury about working on tours, music videos & video games.Payne worked on the Michael Jackson Experience video game. In the game, he taught players Jackson's dance moves. Payne first worked with Jackson on the "Remember the Time" film/music video. He was a dancer in the film. He then worked as a dancer and choreographer on Jackson's Dangerous tour. By that point, he'd developed a rapport with Jackson. He helped choreograph moves for the songs 'Dangerous" and "Jam" on the tour, Payne testified. He says it was a goal since being a child to be a dancer and work with Michael Jackson. The Dangerous tour was a realization of that dream.
"On the Dangerous tour, I was really very ecstatic. I was working with my idol",choreographer Travis Payne said.
During Dangerous his relationship with MJ grew. Payne said all he knew was that pain was an ongoing issue for MJ since the Pepsi commercial accident
Payne worked with MJ in Ghosts in 1995/96, then History tour, other tv shows & commercials and culminated with This Is It
On the HIStory tour, Payne said Jackson rehearsed both with and without his backup dancers.Rehearsals for the History tour was very extensive, Payne said. He was involved with selecting dancers, ideas for costumes and whatever was needed. Dancers would get up to speed in the beginning, MJ was good at giving space to learn
Travis Payne also worked with Jackson on One Night Only show that was canceled after incident in which Jackson fainted on stage.
Payne: "Michael had an incident, appeared to faint, we were asked to leave the theater and were told later the show was not going to happen"
Payne worked privately with Jackson on This Is It rehearsals. He says he didn't see any signs of drug abuse at this time. The choreographer also testifies that he never saw Jackson drink alcohol or take any medications. He says he saw no signs of addiction. Payne said he never saw MJ take drugs, medication or alcohol
"Nothing."
Payne said he knew there were physicians tending to MJ but dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein and nurse Debbie Rowe were the only medical professionals of Jackson's that he met
Payne said he worked with Kenny Ortega for many years. Payne and Ortega were in Vegas when Michael called Ortega asking to work on a new project. Payne didn't personally meet with MJ until after the press conference announcement. He said he was excited to work with him again
After mid-afternoon break, Payne resumed testifying about how he came to work on This Is It.
"I believe he missed performing. I believe he missed direct contact with his fans", Travis Payne says about why Jackson wanted to tour
Payne said he knew Michael was excited about the tour and his children, to share this experience with them. Payne first met with MJ in late March/2009
"He looked fine to me health wise, I thought he was thinner from what I have seen him in the past, but nothing alarming," Payne recalled
Payne said he found out that his role would not include dancing, he would choreograph and would be the associate director in This Is It. Payne testified This Is It would be different from Jackson's previous tours. AEG would be a partner, not a sponsor. The choreographer said Jackson explained to him that having AEG would be a good thing. Payne said this new way of doing business would revolutionize the way tours were done
Payne attended an April meeting at Michael's home. Said he saw no signs of impairment, drug abuse by the singer
Payne also testified that Jackson was involved in almost every detail of his scheduled shows, such as costume, wardrobe and set design, choosing the dancers and the bandleader.
Payne: "Everything started with Mr. Jackson, always. As his support team, we would contribute with ideas. MJ had the final word"
They auditioned 5,000 dancers, Michael chose the final ones & the band director also
Payne spent several minutes describing details of the This Is It show, including a torch and costume that would light up. Jackson wanted a torch in the Italian Baroque design. Actually, he wanted two, in case one broke, Payne tells jury. Payne also showed an email in which he described a costume for "Billie Jean", in which the clothing material would light up. When Payne was describing the illuminated "Billie Jean" costume, he looked out into the audience and nodded at Katherine Jackson. Bina shows an email Payne wrote. It said MJ was very persistent about having a torch, a concept that meant a lot to Michael.
Payne was then asked about his one-on-one rehearsals with Jackson at the singer's home. These were scheduled for 5 days a week.Payne said they started rehearsing after the press conference & stopped the day before Michael died. He spoke with him every day. MJ told Payne he expected him to be in every show. He wanted Payne to take notes to make sure the show was as perfect as possible.
"Customarily, we would see each other every day," Payne said
Payne worked with Jackson individually almost every day for the last three months of the singer's life. He ate lunches with Jackson, saying Michael's appetite varied daily. The choreographer said that as show time approached, MJ missed some rehearsals with the full crews, causing production to worry whether he would be ready
Payne said MJ's dancing seemed fine to him. He said they were working on things created decades before to make them age appropriate & dynamic. MJ was able to perform many of his familiar dance moves, although they had to be modified because the singer was 50 years old and not as limber as he had been decades earlier. He said Jackson was tired for some of the sessions and that
"some days would be better than others"
Payne and associate choreographer Stacy Walker said they were working to modify Jackson's dance routine to his age.
"I was realizing that's Michael Jackson, but he's not 20 or 30 any more. He's 50 and how is that going to be? We have to figure it out", Payne testified
"Drill" was the last thing they worked on together, Payne said. Michael had a great love for military precision
"He seemed very tired, we all were," Payne said
Payne testified that production wanted Michael to be more in attendance with all the cast, rather than just rehearsing by himself at his house.
Payne: "because there was inconsistency with MJ appearing at the rehearsal, production was concerned they would not meet their goals"
AEG attorney Bina asked Payne whether he thought Jackson could have finished the This Is It show. Payne said "Yes"
Payne said Jackson's goal was to sing every song live for This Is It, which he had not done in the past on every tour. This was a goal he set for himself. Michael had used vocal-assist tracks on previous shows, he said. By June 25, Payne said MJ had not developed the goal of singing and dancing at the same time but the choreographer thought he could have pulled it off.
After jurors left, Judge Palazuelos said she sustained plaintiff's objection and will not allow defense to use Dr. Murray's interview w/ LAPD. In it, Dr. Murray said he was hired by Michael to be paid by AEG. Plaintiffs said it's hearsay and judge agreed.

There is a 2 car garage but with my work equipment we can’t park cars inside and I need access to driveway to load equipment. However, plenty of storage for bikes / sports equipment with an air compressor for tires.
I don’t really have a lot of furniture in the main living room so what you bring will be welcomed.

Abit of a random and odd question, but where can I rent "animation" costumes for an affordable price?

2024.05.12 17:45 Icy_Ranger8419 Any recommendations for rentals?

I dont have the time or patience to make these things myself, and dont want a cheap costume that's made of children's tears.
Any recommendations for a way I could rent a costume, cause all the custome rental places I find are full mascots like Tony the tiger rather than anime cosplay.

2024.05.12 17:33 Icy_Ranger8419 High quality cosplay/costume rental?

Anyone know if halifax (or nova Scotia in general) has any decent custome rental? And I dont mean mascots, i mean, if you wanted to dress up for Hal Con for a single day and dont want to spend thousands on a costume, renting it for a day or two would be ideal.
Otherwise you end up spending hundreds on a shoddy costume held together by mothballs and string and smells like children's tears.
Any help is appreciated.

2024.05.12 04:06 valeriecherished Lempicka tonight

I left at intermission because I thought the show was dull overall and found George and Natalie’s characters to be quite grating. (I’m sure the actors are fantastic. Just wasn’t a fan of their characters, dialogue, cheesy jokes…) Also, costumes felt quite cheap/Halloween store. Especially the ensemble. I was underwhelmed by the weird choreography. Very 2000s pop star backup dancer… arm dancing.
However Eden was fantastic. Singing and acting. Quite a committed performance. I didn’t hear any super off notes… (i think there’s some strange choices with how some of the songs are written though… like I feel like I might go flat if I was singing “Unseen”… but not because it’s demanding, just some of the written notes are strange..???) I almost didn’t go because of Reddit comments about her voice being in bad shape. I don’t even mind “bad” singing if theyre acting their face off (Tonya Pinkins remains my favorite performance I’ve seen on Broadway and her voice was shot but the performance was devastating and stuck with me.) I also didn’t even think Eden’s songs were so “screamy” ??? Besides the end of I will paint her and woman is? She took a note or two down on woman is and I swear even mixed one of the high sustained notes. She sounded pretty trained and theater-y to me. Way more than when I’ve seen her in Brooklyn, rent, wicked etc. I was impressed. But not enough to stick around for the second act. (I got digital rush 35 dollar tickets in row f)
Amber has goddess pipes. What a voice and presence!! Happy for both of their Tony nominations.
The audience seemed to be into the show and laughed at all of the jokes. Atleast in the first act. Like they really ate up the Eden bit where she’s eating a pastry? I thought most of the songs were meandering and dull… some cheesy dialogue and staging. but definitely a talented cast and I was impressed with Eden and amber. And “Woman Is” is stuck in my head.

2024.05.12 02:00 Logic_Sandwich JoJo's Bizarre OC Tournament #7: R2M22 - Markov vs Reese McGuffin

Vote on a match featuring the detective teams allied against a masked vigilante having gone berserk!
(Shoutouts to u/ShimoDragon and Heart of the Rose for the match!)
Scenario: The Kamala Rose International, Vasitanagarh — 2:06PM
Weeks ago, in the very center of The Kamala Rose International lay the fantastical garden known as the Heart of the Rose, in the center of that garden stood a gazebo, and in the center of that gazebo was a table surrounded by four individuals in a heated discussion.
“That was sloppy work, Margherita!” Sulka slammed their fist against the table in an uncharacteristically loud fit of rage, “I told you to get rid of that man last week! Now because of your pointless delays he was able to leak that scandal to the news!”
“Hey hey, levati dai coglioni! I don’t appreciate the blame being thrown onto me here,” Margo threw up his arms in response, looking more annoyed than upset, “You never told me there was any urgency. Besides, it takes a bit of time to frame an accidental death. What, do you think you can just shoot a guy in the head and call it a suicide? You watch too many movies if you think that kind of thing can just happen overnight, mammalucco.”
“Do you even care that our operation here is in jeopardy now that that video is drawing prying eyes our way?!” Sulka almost spat at the italian man, “Your nonchalance is insulting!”
“Easy, Sulka,” Jim Peckle interjected, “Margo did his best. No way for him to know that things would turn this way.”
“You’re both right, actually,” Margo sneered, “I did my best, as I do with every job, but I honestly couldn’t care less if this little crime ring collapses. You lot are nothing more than a side hustle to me, my allegiances lie back in Italy. In other words, stop pestering me and vai a cagare.”
With a swish of his apron Margo left, leaving Sulka to smolder in a more recognizable quiet anger.
“That’s the last time we give him a time sensitive job, if you ask me,” Pluto spoke up for the first time since arriving (late), “The unwanted attention is a problem, don’t get me wrong, but I’m more concerned with how we even got to this in the first place, hey? That guy in the video was talking about missing people, Kiisseli. Just what the hell have you been up to?”
“Need I remind you, Hendrix,” Sulka’s cold gaze turned to meet Pluto’s, “that part of our arrangement involves the right to privacy. I do not intend to pry about what you use our resources for so I expect that you will do me the same decency.”
“Excuse me…?” Pluto straightened up from his relaxed position, “You don’t get to just shrug this off after bringing the feds to our damn doorste-”
“To be curt,” Sulka cut him off, “It’s none of your damn business, Pluto. So drop it.”
Behind Sulka’s back, Jim quietly scoped his nearest emergency exit.
Pluto’s vein bulged visibly at Sulka’s words, “You’ve got people paying attention to the airport cuz you’ve been pulling some shady bullshit and you just managed to get your ass handed to you by a cat and some whackjob in a mask, hey. Obviously this is my fucking business!”
“I may have been beaten by a “whackjob” as you put it,” Sulka slowly rose from their chair, “but I could certainly beat you if you’re going to keep acting like a thorn in my side.”
“You could beat who?” Pluto’s voice raised an octave in sheer frustration and confusion, “Trust me, you don’t want this smoke, Kiisseli.”
“What’s this about smoke?” Dark Disquiet shimmered into view and lit a fire in its palm behind Sulka as they spoke, “Because from where I stand you’re the only one who should fear getting burned, Hendrix.”
“This isn’t the time or place for a fight,” Jim stepped in between the two, holding up his hands. Behind his dark sunglasses, his eyes flicked cautiously over to Sulka. “Everything just goes up in flames. Nobody wins… Best cool things down and make peace.”
An uneasy silence hung over the gazebo until Pluto clicked his tongue in frustration, “Yeah. Fine. Better an ally than an enemy, I suppose. But let it be known that next time I have to deal with problems caused by your actions I’ll be expecting a damn good explanation, hey? Now I’m getting out of here before your self important face pisses me off any more than it already has.”
Once Pluto had left earshot, Sulka let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of their nose, “I hate to admit it but I too am in a state where I still need to rely on Hendrix’s assistance. Oh how I despise co-leadership…”
“I like having him around,” Jim replied, shrugging minutely, “He brings a lot to the Heart. He’s easygoing, and a lot more dedicated than he seems on the surface. It would be a shame to drive him away.”
“You’ve already deescalated the situation, Jim Peckle. Any further arbitration would be pointless, unless you mean to crawl your way back onto my good side. In which case you have a long way to go,” Sulka made a dispassionate gesture towards the exit, “You may leave as well, but don’t assume that this means you’re off the hook. You’ve not yet been forgiven for leaving me in the dirt and running off with that costumed clown after our fight.”
Jim hesitated for a moment before deciding to swallow his pride and take his own advice. Instead, he simply gave a light nod in response and scurried out of the gazebo.
For a time Sulka sat in silence, partially to gather their thoughts and partially to make sure their team members had cleared out. “Marko, Olli, come here now.”
Barely missing a beat, the Runoilija brothers ran in to greet Sulka, “Right here boss!” Marko, the bigger of the two, responded, “Sorry we weren’t here for the meeting–that kid you hired a while back was break dancing in the halls outside the garden and we were entranced by the little guy!”
“Enough!” Sulka was all too familiar with how the brothers could prattle on if left unchecked, “I didn’t call you over to have you discuss your simplistic entertainment. I have a job for the two of you.”
“Lay it on us boss, we’ll get it done in no time,” Olli rubbed his hands together in anticipation.
“To be more accurate it’s closer to a reassignment than a job,” Sulka tucked their hands behind their back, beginning to pace across the raised dais. “Thanks to this mess we’re in, I’ll be forced to decrease, if not totally halt, my… cultivation, we’ll call it, her at the Rose. In order to make up for the drop-off in offerings we will need to expand operations outside of the airport. I’ve already made the arrangements. Starting tomorrow, you two will be stationed at Club Naraka over in Port Konwar. You will remain vigilant for any and all stand users that enter the building. I don’t care how you do it but make sure you check every guest. Once you find a stand user you are to restrain them and call for me. This is by far the most promising location I’ve managed to get a hold of, so I am expecting big things. Are there any questions?”
“Uh, it’s a club, yeah?” Marko cocked his head, “That means there’ll be booze, right?”
“...Yes Marko,” Sulka sighed, “There will be drinks of all kinds.”
“Alright! We won’t let you down boss! You can count on us!” Olli beamed—and promptly tripped on Marko’s heels in his haste as the two of them rushed for the door.
Sulka sighed again, if that pair of fools weren’t so loyal they would’ve discarded them long ago.
Scenario: ???, ??? — 1:20 AM
THUMP
THUMP
THUMP
Reese’s eyes slowly opened, his vision hazy. His head stung—that was the first thing he noticed, the dull throbbing pain in his temple. He couldn’t think straight. Where was he? Why was he here? What was-
God, his head.
“Ghhh...” He massaged his temples, blearily trying to force some sense into his brain. He was... Where was he...
Memories came back to him slowly, filtered through heavy bass and the scraping of a rusty fan overhead. He was looking for leads on something... His father was looking into Nightblooms... There were rumors of knowledgeable Stand users here... His teammates had told him not to go, but he-
The door creaked open, slamming against a dingy, degraded concrete wall. Reese lifted his head, slowly. His head felt like a ten ton weight on his shoulders. He could hardly see. What the fuck happened?
Through the now open door a stream of light poured in highlighting the silhouettes of two men. The bigger man on the right spoke first, “So this kid is the fresh meat, huh? And you’re sure he’s one of us this time?”
“Oh definitely,” The skinny man on the left replied, “This guy’s a stand user, no doubt about it.”
Reese could hear what the men were saying but his mind was covered in a fog and it was difficult to comprehend the words. Fresh meat? Stand user? Did these two bring him here? What did they want?
The skinny man kneeled down to bring himself face to face with Reese. Even in the darkness of the room he was close enough that Reese could make out his distinctly crooked nose , “I’m gonna make this real simple for you, pal. You see our boss is a very important person. They are the type with big plans that some people might not agree with. Because of that, they like to make powerful friends whenever possible. Friends like you, for example. For that very reason the boss is on their way here right now to meet you! I’m sure the two of you will get along great but I thought I should give you a bit of a warning. The boss doesn’t like it when their offer of friendship gets turned down, you see. There’s only one thing they hate more than that. Unnecessary risk. If they can’t have you as a friend… Well, I’m sure you’ll make the right choice once you meet them.”
“Uhhh, Olli?” The bigger one tapped the skinny man on the shoulder, “I don’t think this kid is hearing you. Look at his eyes, it’s like he’s still asleep.”
“Wha-?” Olli aggressively grabbed Reese’s head and forcefully opened his eyelids all the way to stare into the boy’s pupils, “Goddamnit, the drugs still haven’t worn off! Urgh, just put him back to sleep Marko. I’ll give him the speech again once he wakes up.”
Reese wanted to run or fight or something but he could barely move as the skinny man- Olli let go of his head. Drugs? Had these two drugged him? His mind was swimming with Olli’s monologue creating a whirlpool of words and phrases that he recognized but could not focus on. With every ounce of his available strength he lifted his body onto his elbows and looked up to his captors.
“W-wait a se-” He couldn’t even form a full sentence before the bigger man- Marko reeled back and threw out a punch.
There was a violent shake.
A loud thud.
And then black.
Scenario: Club Naraka, Port Konwar — 1:22 AM
Club Naraka was, if nothing else, accurately named.
When you first stepped into the subterranean hell pit of human desire, you were greeted with the thick smell of booze and cigarettes and other far less legal things. It had a way of overwhelming every sense, actually. Harsh lights strobed against the otherwise dim chambers of each floor, and the bass thumped hard enough to feel in your ribs. When you eventually found yourself in a place where it didn’t smell so harshly of booze, it was because it smelled like vomit instead, or some other thing you didn’t really want to figure out the source of.
Emile Gulati, 27 years old, stared with half lidded eyes at the air freshener she’d hung behind the bar, wishing with all of her heart that it actually worked. It was her last little rebellion against this place. She tried wearing earbuds, but she couldn’t hear her own music over the stuff they played in the club. She tried normal earplugs, but those hardly worked, and just made it harder to bartend. She considered nose plugs, but that’d just make her look weird - customers gave her enough shit already.
Evening, bartender~.” A sleazy looking man had somehow wandered over to the bar without her noticing, splaying himself over the counter. Emile tried her best to hide her immediate disdain. “You, uh, wow, huh, eheh.” He pointed at her. “Nnnn~ice outfit. Eheh.”
She scowled.
“You gonna order something or what?” Emile made sure to step back a few feet. Best not to stand too close to guys like this - she’d learned that the hard way just a week ago. “I don’t work here as a fucking model. Get a drink.”
Bitch.” The man sneered. “You people should be more agreeable. Tsch.” He wandered off, having seemingly forgotten what he came for in the first place. Emile sighed in relief. She idly looked back at the little bottle under the counter, and winced. She’d made a routine of reminding herself it was there and feeling like shit about it.
Being a bartender here was bad enough, but every now and then she’d get a lovely text from a higher up on the burner phone they’d given her to slip a few drops of that into their drink. Within moments a security guard would drag them away, leaving Emile with no explanation. Not that she was expecting one, granted. But she would’ve liked to know what exactly she was doing here. For closure, or something. Maybe.
Couldn’t pay rent in Mist City without a job, she reminded herself for the fourth time that night. The latest one really got to her - some bright eyed youngster filled with determination who was trying so hard not to look like he was there on some sort of mission. She had hope that whatever job it was would succeed, but that hope seemed to evaporate like a fine mist when she watched him disappear behind the elevator doors.
She rubbed her temples.
“...”
And exhaled. This place got in the way of her reason, the music keeping her from thinking. Was next month’s rent worth the people she’d screwed over? Hell if she knew.
“I’m taking my fifteen,” said Emile, to no one in particular. She marched away from the bar, stalking towards the elevator. When the doors closed behind her, she found herself blessed by something close to peace and quiet. It reassured her.
Equally reassuring was the golden coin beneath her feet, glinting in harsh LED light.
“...Lucky coin, huh?” She picked it up, admiring it for a moment before pressing down on the lowest button on the elevator keypad. She didn’t know what she was actually going to do - but it’d probably be better than doing nothing.
When the doors opened, Emile found the floor was completely barren. No one wandered through the dusty concrete halls; the only thing that gave her company was the thick, noxious smell that clung to the air. Preferring not to investigate its source, Emile began walking through the halls…until her eye caught on an open door. Unsure where else to go, she peeked inside.
Curled on the cold floor was a body. Emile’s stomach dropped–until she saw movement in the person’s chest. Still alive. That she could work with. Rushing over, Emile knelt next to the unconscious person, as she had with countless blackout drunks. She made sure he was on his side, and then gently stirred him until he woke. All the while, dread tangled her organs in knots. Who would do such a thing? Why? Still, the answers didn’t matter. What mattered is that something was very wrong with this place, and they needed to leave as fast as possible.
Yet, when the young man opened his eyes, he didn’t look at her with shock or fear, but anger. A righteous fury that had him just about jumping to his feet.
“Woah! Woah, settle down, you were unconscious, your body needs time-” Emile began, before the man shook his head. That alone seemed to dizzy him, as he braced himself against the wall.
“I don’t have time. I need to- I can’t have been the only one. I need to-”
Emile stepped closer, trying to put a hand on his shoulder, but he immediately bristled at the touch, as if on reflex.
“You’re hurt- look, man… something’s up with this place. We need to get out of here.”
But he just shrugged her off, moving towards the nearest unlocked door. Without hesitation, he flung it open, frantically looking for other survivors. Yet, what he and Emile found…were rows of bathtubs. That horrid, sharpened smell was even stronger now, nearly overwhelming. It was all Reese could do to not keel over. Instead, Emile moved to support him, and the two crept closer, peering over the edge.
Inside the tub, something boiled, bubbled, churned.
The thing inside could barely be called human. The acid gnawed at the corpse like a desperate, starving animal, stripping the charred flesh off of its bones. Unable to support itself, it collapsed further, head sinking under the liquid. Soon, its blank, lifeless expression was stripped down to its gleaming bone. Gone. All gone.
Reese felt like he was standing in a tunnel. Lightless. Empty. Infinite. The feeling of Emile letting go, the sound of sharp retching, something splattering against the tile, all of it was muffled.
What cruel animal is man.
It was the twin jolts of fear and rage that hit him like an IED. Pounding adrenaline restarted his heart, clicking the world into focus. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Emile heaving, shuddering, pulling at her hair. All the unconscious drunkards, for all the rowdy bar fights, none of it could have prepared her for these horrors. That adrenaline pumped through her in turn, she could feel that fear grow sharp and jagged-
She could feel something take that fear, guiding it towards a sound. Footsteps. Reese didn’t seem to hear them, only her. She tried to speak- nothing. No sound could escape her lips. The fear that gripped her chest was unlike anything she had ever felt before. She couldn’t make a whisper but with the full force of her adrenaline she could still move.
The next few moments were a blur. A bottle on a shelf, shouting from the previous room, a desperate lunge, and the distinct sound of rending flesh. Suddenly everything was vivid and clear again. She felt the guards blood trickle through her fingers as Emile looked down and witnessed what she had done. The bottle had become a knife, and she had stabbed someone.
The guard fell to the ground as Emile stared at her shaking, blood stained hands, “I- that wasn’t- I didn’t mean-” She was stammering all while Reese watched on in silent shock.
“He’s not dead Emile,” a feminine voice echoed through her skull, “You have to finish it. You have to make sure.”
Her eyes darted from one end of the room to the other, trying desperately to find the source, but the longer she delayed the louder it got.
“Kill him. Kill Him. KILL HIM. KILL HIM.
What happens when an animal is backed into a corner?
It attacks.
Suddenly, something in Emile snapped- no, it shattered like a broken bottle. A low scream escaped her throat betwixt clenched jaws as she savaged upon the barely breathing man.The knife became her teeth, raised into the air and plunged into red flesh. A wet schlllrk rang as she pulled it back out, only to bury it down again and again and again.
Reese moved quickly, instinctually- tackling her to the ground. A desperate move- to break this haze that she was in, end whatever vile urge had overcome her.
His eyes widened as they tumbled onto the floor, spotting several pairs of feet. Guards. He had tackled them into the direct view of more guards.
”Shit.”
A snapping noise split the air. An ethereal crocodile came from the ether, ready to defend its user.
A cornered animal attacked.
Meanwhile in the upper floors of the club the Runoilija brothers sat at a bar. Olli casually nursed an elaborate cocktail as he criticized his larger brother, “I think you hit that guy a little too hard, he should be awake again by now but there’s no news from the guards… You better not have killed him by accident like that last guy, Sulka’s already pissed enough at us as is.”
“That was not my fault!” Marko slammed his beer mug on the counter, “That last one wouldn’t stay down, so I just kept hitting him until he did. How was I supposed to know that he’d die so easily!”
“You literally just gave a textbook description of negligence, you moron. Of course it was your fault!” Olli smacked Marko on the side of his head to emphasize his point.
“Why’d you always gotta hit me…” Marko grumbled as he rubbed his head, “If you’re so sure that I’m the moron then let's bet on whether the fresh meat has gone cold or not. Whoever loses pays for the other’s drinks for the rest of the night.”
“Alright deal,” Olli snickered as they shook hands, “I’ll go take a look.”
Olli’s hand restlessly gripped the switchblade in his pocket as he descended through the floors of the nightclub. He fully intended to finish off the drugged up kid in the basement, assuming he refused to work for the boss like most did. He would pin the blame on his dumbass brother and have him pay for his drinks for the whole night. A win-win scenario.
Suddenly, a vibration from his phone. An update from the guards:
The prisoner got out. There are two of them now.
Marko received the same message back at the bar above. In a fit of rage he chucked his mug of beer at the wall with his full strength, just barely missing the skull of the bartender who was serving him. Before he had a chance to cause any more senseless damage another message addressed to himself and all the other guards came through, this time from his brother.
Find them both, NOW! Kill them if you have to, just make sure they don’t leave! If they’re gone when Sulka gets here we’ll all be fucked!
Marko stood up from the bar and began to push through the flirting couples and stumbling drunkards of the nightclub as his Ultraviolet materialized. The fresh meat had a helper and the two were trying to scurry away like rats? That was fine by him. Marko specialized in hunting down rats.

The music seemed to distort more intensely the longer Reese listened. Maybe it was the dull ache of the base, punctuated by a hundred frenzied footfalls, a rhythm that toppled over itself. Maybe it was the rage that sent his own heart racing. He could feel it pound against 「Magenta Mountain」 as he held the hourglass close to his chest. Still, there was no time to rest.
Finally, the two of them found the source of the noise. A dark, dingy dancefloor. It stunk of sweat and mildew, and the dancing bodies seemed to twist in the low light. Even as the two entered, splattered in blood, no one took notice. They were too caught up in dance, alcohol, god knows what else. In this moment of respite, Reese turned to Emile. Her gaze was as vacant as his own, she seemed to look right past him.
“Hey, focus.” Impatience had made his voice sharp. There wasn’t time for niceties, not for her. Emile’s eyes readjusted, finding him. In the dark, he could not see that was shone in her expression wasn’t malice, but fear.
“What the hell was that!?” he pressed. She shrunk away in turn.
“...I had to get out.”
“I know that,” Reese frowned, “We’re in the same boat. But that’s not an excuse- I could have helped! You didn’t have to-”
“I have to get out,” Emile continued. Her gaze went past him yet again. Her body shuddered. “Please, please just let me out. I’ll do anything, anything you want, I can’t stand this hell- just let me out!”
“I…” Reese swallowed, hugging his Stand tight. “What?”
His mind reeled, trying to process his next steps. This woman was unstable, that was clear. Unstable, violent, dangerous—not just to others, but herself. If Reese allowed her to simply leave, without understanding what was happening, who knew how many would suffer? Yet, the crowd shifted in strange ways, the beat becoming frantic, the music growing warped and mutilated. Should he stop the woman? Should he protect her from these maddening halls? What should he do? What should he do?
The moment Reese looked up, trying to make a call–Emile was gone. She had vanished deep into the crowd, following that horrid, golden voice. The music reminded Reese of the howl of coyotes in the night. The raucous celebrations of beasts who found their meal.
Against his beating heart, he felt 「Magenta Mountain」. Inside those grains lay the vast expanse of evolution, and its uniting link: the will to survive at any cost. His beasts had all failed, each one had faced death, and lost. At this moment, Reese understood them. He knew what it was to be a cornered animal. He would deal with the moral quandaries of man once he escaped. But first, he had to escape. The grains of sand were slipping through the hourglass. He knew he would not die like all those beasts that came before him. He would escape. He would survive. He had to.
Nothing else mattered.
Lost in the crowd, he and Emile reached that same conclusion.
Nothing else mattered.
Open the Game.
Location: Club Naraka, with the players currently on the second basement floor. Throughout the stage, the brown sections of the map are doors, furniture, lockers, crates, and whatever makes sense for the location. The players may interpret the map to read furniture as what would make sense for the location and may find any items that would be reasonable to find in that area of a club; if these ever would conflict in strategies, treat both readings as, somehow, correct.
Green circles are guards, each of which have 333 physicals, Guard: 3, and Basic Weapon Use: 3. These are overall competent operatives who aren’t going to be utterly trivial to get past, and each is armed with a handgun loaded with 9mm bullets and a baton.
The 2nd basement floor has MARKOV on one side in the bar, and Reese on the other in the boiler room. A few guards are already on the map; neither has immediate line of sight on either player.
North of MARKOV is a storage closet, which opens into a bathroom. North of this is the backrooms of the club, with the currently full dance floor in the middle. North of the boiler rooms is the security guard room, and at the far northeast of the map is the office of the club’s owner, filled with various trophies.
Of note for Reese, there are a few dead rats (purple triangles) in the boiler room, and a piece of coral (purple circle) in the office. This chunk of coral is 8 kg, and when reanimated by 「Magenta Mountain」 forms as a sort of hemisphere 2m across and 1.5m high.
The 1st basement floor is mostly for club business, with speakers and various technical material spread around. Of note, the many, many guards on the south of the first level will, if the players choose not to fight through the closest stairways, slowly fill into the lowest level, chasing the players. In essence, there will be significantly less guards around the stairs to the ground floor if the players take the longer path.
Finally, the Ground Floor is an open warehouse space with no traditional obstacles- as everything in this room is currently floating airborne, with a gloating Sulka armed with a fire extinguisher acting as the final obstacle. Between Sulka’s mobility, their guards acting as easier targets, and the needs of the match, they may not be RETIRED, but attacks launched at them will temporarily distract them and force them to block or avoid them. Otherwise, Sulka will alternate between launching single massive crates and flurries of small objects at the players as they fight their way through the ground floor, up to the doors at the north.
Goal: Fight your way out of Club Naraka! In particular, leave the club in better shape than your opponent.
While combat is allowed and expected, for the most part guards won’t leave too far from their base location; they can be snuck past. The winner of the match is who gets out of the club in the overall best condition.
Combat between players with the intent or foreseeable result of RETIREMENT is not recommended, though other types of interference are.
Additional Information: MARKOV’s current user is Emile Gulati, who has 233 physicals and 3 Bartending; Bartending gives Emile a thorough understanding of the layout of the club as well as preternatural skill in being able to throw around glass bottles or other similarly hefty items.
As for other NPCs besides the guards, the clubgoers have 222 physicals, Ignoring Any Chaos Around Them 5, and Mostly Irrelevant To The Match 4. Essentially they can act as a sort of cover in the dance floor, but besides hiding among them, don’t worry about anyone besides guards too much.

2024.05.11 18:47 NeoCriMs0n I'm really conflicted...

I've been cosplaying since 2011. I love this hobby.
However, I'm in my early 30's now. I use my own money for my costumes, of course. My parents, however, think it's a total waste of money since almost all of my friends have moved on from the hobby.
That's right. At first, they supported me and cheered me. But now, they don't anymore. It probably has something to do with the fact that my passion for cosplay no longer burns bright. Most of the time, I cosplay just to avoid the FOMO factor since I'm subscribed to a lot of cosplay-related avenues. Whenever I take breaks, I get bombarded with these pictures of cosplayers enjoying cons and having a blast. And tell myself: "Why am I not in there enjoying my time with them?"
I think this is the point in time where you get a mid-life crisis when it comes to this hobby. Do you waste your money on a costume that you will only use for 1 or 2 times before you get bored of it? Or use the money instead to travel and save up for your future?
My parents aren't entirely wrong and I love them so much. Without their practical advices, I would have never been to where I am right now where I graduated from a highly-prestige university in my country, work for a good company that pays me well, rent my own place, own my own vehicle, own my own Gaming space (Playstation 5 and Gaming PCs and all), no loans to anybody, completely independent from anyone. The problem is, all my life, I have listened to them. I always obey what they tell me to do. Why? Because I am totally afraid that if I disobey them, I will completely fail in life. You see, my parents have experienced how it was to be down-under bottom poor and have no money, with only their determination and love for us driving them, they have pulled us from the gutter. And they always instilled with me a lesson: "NEVER waste your money. Save whatever you can because we don't want you experiencing the HELL that we experienced before."
Just so we're clear, my mother was highly-abused by her siblings as a child. She actually came from a well-to-do family with lots of inheritance and money. The problem is, she was highly-abused as a child by her siblings and bullied relentlessly by them. So, even though they have all the money in the world, she never got to experience kindness in her life. My relatives hate my father too. Even today, even after cutting ties with them, these siblings of her would do whatever they can to make her life a living hell. I was a witness to this when I was a child too. Yep, my childhood was horrible since all I know from childhood is the constant abusing of my own mother (and sometimes me since I'm the only son) from my relatives. School wasn't kind to me either as my so-called friends there all turn out to be assholes who were just using me because they knew my family has a lot of money and prestige. At a tender age of 7 years old, I have learned to shut down my emotions, I don't remember anything fun in my family. It's a huge surprise that I didn't turn out to be a Psychopath or a Narcissist (but I do have bouts of Anxiety at times). It's all family problems and arguements and toxicity from my relatives. The only avenue I had for fun was gaming and watching Animes, those took me away from all the hate surrounding me and Anime and Gaming became the love of my life. And the rest is history...
Back on topic, I totally understand where my parents are coming from. In their world, there is no avenue for them to turn to when they were in pain. There's no COSPLAY in their world to have fun (even though they know about it). Their advices have all saved me and made me mature early yet it still saved me. Because they don't want me experiencing the things they experienced, so that's why I know they love me dearly. To them, cosplay is a total waste of money unless you're gaining lots of money from it like those lucky top-tier celebrity model cosplayers who gets paid thousands just to pose on camera because they just happen to be born HOT or had tons of cosmetic plastic surgeries. To them, if you don't gain money from it, it's a total waste.
In fact, instead of cosplay, they would much rather see me traveling, having fun with buddies, socializing, being a womanizer and getting tons of girlfriends (Yes, I was a womanizer before, but that's another story), and then starting a family later on to carry our prestigious bloodline. Because that's what normal people do right? I get it, they're just being practical.
I really miss this hobby. But I'm afraid to buy new costumes. It's like whenever I have fun with this hobby, I feel GUILTY for having fun. Because my mother always tells me "NEVER waste your money again, do you hear me?! All your friends have already left cosplay! Are you gonna hang with young people?! YOU'RE NOT YOUNG ANYMORE! Start hanging with people within your age group! Leave the cosplay to the much younger generation! What are you gonna do with your expensive costume? Use it 1-2 times before you throw it away? It's up to you, if you don't wanna listen to me, be my guest!". She lets me do what I want, but then if I don't listen to her, I might end up failing in life, so I always just say: "Yes, mother... I'll obey." because atleast if I fail in life, I get to blame her and not myself for failing. So far, though, I succeeded everything in life because I listened to her.
What do you guys think? Should I just quit cosplay completely?

2024.05.11 13:45 Sinister-John One the craziest last day vacation stories you’ll ever read in your life! 💀

2024.05.10 22:35 DismalClock213 Supporting a friend for over a year, they blew up at me over a comment about finances

I (31m) moved in with my friend K (42non binary) in February. I met them a little over a year ago and they were in a toxic job and toxic living situation with two roommates. They were struggling and I was living at home with my parents so I told them I could help them the best I could. They quit their job and I helped with a lot of their bills so they could try to find a better work environment. During this time we also became super close and slept together a few times. They told me they had had an emotionally abusive relationship in the past and were not ready to jump into anything and told them that was totally fine and I would let them come to me if/when they were ready. I did not bring it up again until a few nights ago (will explain more on that in a moment).
They were searching for a job to no avail when an out of state friend, we will call him S, told K “come live with me, I can afford my apartment on my own so you can come get back on your feet and take all the time you need”. I helped pack all Ks belongings took time off work and drove them 8.5 hrs away. During this time I was still helping with their bills and sending them money for food while also getting them gifts to try to make them feel better about the situation they were in. I also paid for the trip and drove the 8.5 hrs back by myself to get home.
Things were fine at first but it only took a couple weeks before I got messages about how awful the friend was being. K said S started pushing them to get a job because S realized K was not interested in S romantically. (I was not there so I only have what K told me). S did say he has little amounts of company but proceeded to have people over every other night and he also said his apartment was very clean but it was kinda disgusting when we got there (we had to bleach the entire bathroom) these are two things I can confirm. Fast forward a couple months and K finally found a job but kept getting very sick. They said it was cuz of the job and the humidity of where they were now living (we come from a dry climate). They contacted a friend back in our state who said they could come move in until me and K could get a place. We will call the new friend N.
N was a raging alcoholic and was never sober. I told K I didn’t think it was a good idea but they said it was fine and moved back around Novembedecember. I also paid for most this trip and drove out there to get them. It got really bad there and we rushed to find a place of our own. We found an apartment and moved in February , they still had no job so I paid first and second month rent, deposit, ect. My parents bought us over $1100 in groceries to get started. I have 2 dogs and they have a cat. They had said they wanted to help with the dogs. One is a service dog, the other is a service dog in training. When I needed help it would only be if I was gone at work with my SD, I would need the SDIT walked if I was going to be gone more than 12hr. Which was not super often. They finally found a job in April and because more stressed because of work. When I asked for help with the SDIT they told me “I don’t have dogs because I don’t want to walk them” I said that was fine, I will only ask again if absolutely needed. I only asked one other time when they messaged me work and told me they wanted me to see something they made on a VR game when I got home. I got off work at 8pm and had to be back at 6am. I told them my VR had been acting up and would take some time to troubleshoot so if they wouldn’t mind saving me a little time by walking the dog that would really help. The response I got “I don’t have dogs because I don’t want to walk dogs lol”. They then took pics of what they made, said they had a headache, and went to bed. There is so much more that’s happened in this time but for time sake I will jump to the point and answer more in the comments if needed.
A few nights ago I sent them a message asking for answers to a few questions. I wanted to know what changed with the dogs and why they no longer wanted to help, but I was OK with them not helping. I also wanted to know where we stood on relationship, because we hadn’t talked about it in almost a year. I also told them I was upset because of something they said about money.
earlier this week they told me that because they were sick recently their paycheck would be less so they could afford rent but after that, they would be broke. I told them I could help if needed and they said ok and that I could help with groceries, And the next day they asked for money to buy nicotine lozenges. I also bought $150 of groceries. I have a full time job and I do costume making on the side and was sending out a costume and told them I was stressed. They said “this is why I don’t take commissions when I have a full time job.” I told them I have to to afford everything and they told me I needed to “tighten my belt” and brought up a recent purchase of a non essential item that cost me $100. I got upset and messaged them about how I’ve been helping them and I’m fine doing so but didn’t expect to be which is why I made the purchase and was told I was shoving the money thing in their face. The fight blew up and they stopped talking to me and I went to stay with my parents. They also sent me money on cash app after that because they had money they were saving because being broke did not mean $0, to them it meant they had savings they didn’t want to dip into. (Side note, I have spent well over 7000 and with interest rates and not being able to pay off the cards I have gone into about 10-12k credit card debt supporting them and am absolutely broke, but wanted to do what ever I could to help)
Now this part is where I believe I messed up and shouldn’t have done it. I was worried because a week prior they told me almost in tears that they wanted “to end it” and I know prior to us meeting they had said they had suicide attempts. So I messaged the only two friends they had and said “ hey I don’t want to give details, we had a fight, and I just want to make sure they are ok and have a support system in place” both friends told them I reached out and K BLEW UP at me. I’m sorry for getting them involved but I was actually genuinely worried. Am I the bad guy here? I’m stuck in the apartment with them until February 2025. So do I try to salvage this friendship or should I just try to live with them. I have other people who could move in if I ask them to move out too. I just don’t know what to do.
