I bought a house from house flippers in February. The weekend we moved in, L.A. had a rainstorm and the 2nd story ceilings immediately began leaking, with mold appearing. When purchasing, I was sold "a brand new roof", so this was confusing. I notified the sellers' realtor, and the sellers sent over a roofer to put asphalt around our chimney-- a short term solution that will last no more than 6 months. The roofer told us that he was so sorry, that their contractor had attempted to hire him for the roofing job, but he was busy so he sent over an unlicensed friend... who had failed/forgotten to flash the chimney. Hence, the leak. Their contractor also installed an interior door on the exterior of our house (laundry room), which promptly melted in the rain, as it was particle board.
Since then, we've discovered other latent defects. Their plumber wired a toilet to the hot water, which we had to pay hundreds to get corrected. Additionally, their contractor failed to get a permit to upgrade our electrical panel after he installed a new HVAC, so we were visited by LADWP and put on notice. When our electrician came to replace the panel and upgrade the system from 100-200 amps, he also discovered that their contractor had shoved 5 neutral wires in with 1 grounding wire (I guess the ratio is supposed to be 2:1), creating a massive fire hazard. So we had to have that redone.
We had our realtor ask their realtor to share in some of these costs-- the sellers said no to everything, including sending a plumber to detach the toilet from the hot water.
Costs to repair the above have now mounted to about 13k. My questions, as the purchase contract calls for mediation (unless we're going to small claims, which is capped in L.A. at 12.5k): Do I skip mediation and just file a small claims case and eat the rest? Do I get an attorney? Do I try mediation first? Not sure which path will be most successful to get some help with these repairs.

The client, an executive producer, first introduced me to a project manager after previously delaying my payment for a month because he was "busy." For this new project, the project manager told me to start working on a music video and said I could discuss everything with him. Knowing their history, I asked for upfront payment, but the manager insisted that the producer would handle it once he had time.
I went ahead with the project after confirming the price with the producer. However, when the artist didn't respond, I suggested putting the project on hold and asked to be paid for the work I'd already done. Both the producer and manager stopped responding.
Fast forward 20 days, and the manager finally asked me to send the invoice to the producer. The producer then got mad at me, claiming I should've sent the invoice to him first and accusing me that "you freelancers and editors are always trying to get extra money." Like bro, I just want to be paid for the work I've done.
Now he's stopped responding again, probably on a flight. I'm in a bind here and could really use some guidance. How can I recover the money from them? What steps can I take in the future to safeguard payments for remote projects like this?
I realize it's my fault for not having a contract, but given my situation and the amount involve, hiring an attorney isn't feasible. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would get it if it came from a view focused on not playing a Japanese character in Japan when every other game we play native folk. But all the criticism seems to be because he’s not Japanese or white. (Plus we have the female lead who is a native folk)

I bought an expensive game and got a couple trash cards instead. Immediately went through the return process and it was surprisingly timely and helpful, until I got to the actual returning part. I learned about the "non-refundable fees" which I cannot not find stated in the ToS or any information resource regarding Returns or Refunds. In fact the FAQs and my own support messages say "full refund", but if I search I find where they mention non-refundables.

TRIGGER WARNING: TALK ABOUT FOOD AND NUMBERS
So some important background. I’m 34f, and have lived in a nursing home for seven years due mainly to physical disabilities, chronic illness, CPTSD and autism.
I was a “healthy” BMI when I moved in and for the first two years, started gaining when I had to off my ADHD medication, went up to “obese” BMI for a couple years, and finally over the past three years have lost enough and maintained weight to be in the upper end of the “healthy” BMI range again which is good enough for me. I don’t necessarily need to be “skinny”, I just can’t afford to outgrow the 17” wide seat of my customized wheelchair.
So I’ve been maintaining for six months or so. But it’s tricky, and I have at least one binge day per week followed by restriction day(s) to “make up for it”. Also because I’m so sedentary/mostly bedbound, even though I’m 5’6” my maintenance calories are just 1400. Anymore and I gain weight. So my binges are likewise “smaller” than an average binge by an average person with BED, but given my low metabolism and lower caloric needs, the damage is proportionate. On a binge day I’ll eat 2000-3000 calories total and then fast or restrict for as long as it takes afterwards to ensure I won’t gain any weight back. It’s horrible, I hate it, but you get it. It feels impossible to control.
So yesterday I binged. Luckily it wasn’t the largest of binges, so I calculated that I could undo the damage just by not eating until supper and having a large salad with canned chicken breast and calorie wise dressing with an apple for dessert. In true binge/volume eating style, yes, it was a huge pile of food on my plate but the total calories were 465 for the only meal I was allowing myself all day.
So when the dining room staff member came up to me, looked at my plate and said “I don’t know how you can eat all that and not be fat!” I was just feeling like.. fuck, I’m even doing my restriction meals wrong? I don’t know. It’s stupid to let it effect me. But she’s the type who naturally has a very low food drive (probably helped along by her chain smoking) and while every time I see her she has a small bowl of something she’s eating and it’s always cakes or desserts or other calorie dense foods, I understand different eating behaviours and how calories density works and grazing VS planned meals, etc, well enough to get why she can always appear to be eating cake and candy yet maintain in a tiny, possibly even underweight body. Whereas I’m very food driven, partly due to meds and ovarian cysts and a history of food scarcity and abuse and also simply due to not having a lot that I can to distract myself during my long, bedbound days so I tend to plan out full, volume dense, low calorie meals because I know I need that full, satisfied feeling and in order for me to “not be fat” (as she said) that means I have to be very aware of everything I eat and maximize volume and protein and fibre wherever possible.
I guess not only was I irritated by her comment, but also irritated that she gets to enjoy the privilege of having zero knowledge of calorie density, caloric needs, TDEE, BMR, BMI etc and what does she do with that privilege? Make a fucking comment that just rubs the salt all the way into the wound. And I also know I’m not the first person she’s made body size comments to. She’s made another staff member cry because she commented “careful, if you eat all that you’re going to get fat again.” NOT EVEN INTENDING TO BE MALICIOUS. She’s literally just THAT CLUELESS. She just has NO FUCKING IDEA. There are multiple people on staff here with body image and food issues, and I only know about them because they talk to me because they know I get it. None of them have bodies that you would look at and automatically think “eating disorder” because, as WE know, eating disorders don’t have a size. So knowing too that this woman is so privileged about her own relationship with food that she can remain at her age (early 70’s) so completely ignorant to the existence of these issues just makes me so extremely annoyed, envious, and angry, among other emotions I can’t even name.

I’m going to attempt to give context without too many details so as not to give away my identity haha.
We have SD6 and an ours baby. We have 50/50 of SD. BM is HC, goes in phases of being “normal” and being high conflict. Currently acting “normal”-ish.
She told my SO a few months ago she wanted to switch days get SD ready for an event coming this month that’s on SO parenting time. He said no. I told him at this time that if he was just going to give into her and give her what she wants when the event got here; then to just go ahead and do it then as I did not want to rearrange my plans, enlist others to help, spend money etc planning for me to get SD ready for him to just back down and give into BM.
Fast forward to today when he informs me that BM told him SD wants her mom to get her ready (last time we saw SD she was super excited for me to get her ready). And he’s going to let her. I’m furious. At him though, not at BM although she almost certainly has pressured SD into saying this. As of now I have already arranged my whole day around this event, I have spent money on tools to get SD ready, and enlisted help from another member of our family. All for him to give her what she wants. Just feel like what I want or need is always pushed onto the back burner to make room to “keep the peace” with BM and keep her happy.

When tf riot games claimed it's good idea to rework adc items for making this role ain't flexible like ever before?? Thank god we got so much new skins!!! I dont even know how much money I've spent on this game and now being restricted cuz Ive told somebody he is fucking shit and he should never play this game (tl:dr pyke player started some crappy actions then running down whole ranked). Deleting vision potion from aram was so fucking bad decision too, who even wanted to see shaco or teemo as frequently as they are drawn in lobby, fucking nobody!! I've been a stay at home mom with my daughter (18 mo) and I just wanted to share some tips that have helped us save money as a family. Please feel free to also share your own tips

• Buying clothes at Once Upon a Child or other second hand children stores. So many of the clothes are new or barely worn and its a great value. I buy clothes for the next season during the big sales to maximize the savings. When she was younger I would buy their bodysuits during the 30 for $10 sale and typically they have clearance sales before the holidays and around spring. My daughter has the cutest clothes and we dont spend more than $120 in the year
  
• Selling back the clothes to the store, lots of the second hand baby stores will buy their clothes. They wont give you very much but its worth it for some extra money. I find the best deal is to put them in bundles and sell on Mercari. Then you make up even more.
  

-Children Toys, strollers and big items. I recommend looking on facebook marketplace and join your town's free facebook pages. Most towns will have a free giveaway page where people are looking to giveaway items. This is a great place to find some baby items. Facebook marketplace is great to find deals. Also look on mercari for anything in particular. I was looking for a babyzen yoyo stroller for travel but didnt want to spend the $1,000. I was able to get the stroller and accessories for only $200 from someone local.
-COUPONING. This is my biggest tip by far. Couponing isn't how it was years ago. You can get all the savings through the app with only having to click a button. First is diapers, they can get pretty pricey but we've found a way to never spend more than $20 a month on average. I utilize CVS the most, if you check the app weekly you'll find diaper deals you can combine with other coupons that are exclusive for you. Two days ago I was able to get $90 in diapers for $30 out of pocket, $10 back in cvs rewards and $8 back in cash on Ibotta. Those diapers will last atleast 2.5 months. You can also use your partners phone to use their rewards and coupons too. These same discounts can be used for household items and even formula. We never pay full price for laundry detergent, toothpaste and hairproducts. The easiest way to start is to go on tik tok and look up CVS or Walgreens Couponing. The creators will make it super easy to follow. Just remember to only buy things you need so that you dont have a stock pile of random items you dont actually use.

Pixie, my 14 month old old husky/heeler mix, has been having issues since the day we brought her home at 5 weeks old (not my choice to bring her home that early).
At first, her stomach was very sensitive and did not adjust well to hard food, but eventually was okay/consistent. She got her shots, was doing well up until she was about 6 months old. She had her first heat, but a week in she began having a lot of pain which led to the diagnosis of a uti. Then a week into her amoxicillin prescription, she had bloody diarrhea. I took her immediately to the vet, in which they did blood panels, xrays, even a fecal float. The only abnormality being her wbc of 36. We hospitalized her overnight and they found blood/puss in her kennel. They believed she had pyometra and opened her up, spaying her immediately.
Over the last 7/8 months since the surgery, it’s been a constant battle to get her to eat. No vomiting/diarrhea/extreme abdominal pain/itchiness. We tried different proteins, different brands, limited ingredient diets- it worked occasionally but back into eating “just enough” shortly after a switch. The last vet gave us various antibiotics and nausea medications, as well as repeated blood panels and tests that still showed “normal” levels.
Within the last month, we have made the switch to a new vet, who got us a prescription probiotic and did an intestinal biopsy. This biopsy revealed inflammation, seemingly due to allergens/hypersensitivities, but also could be due to parasites. We were given a hydrolyzed diet (currently transitioning to from a limited ingredient salmon + brown rice) and a prescription probiotic. She has shown slow improvement, but I am very worried she will give up on this food if it isnt helping “fast enough”.
This morning she had one large “slushy” diarrhea that she seemed very relieved to get out? It was 3x the size of her normal stool, had mucus but no blood, and was regular colored. She almost immediately came inside to pick at food we had to convince her to eat just last night. Our vet is giving us a paste and a dewormer just to rule out any parasites (like whipworm, which is the only one her prevention doesn’t cover). Wanting to know if theres anything else to look out for here, or that we should bring up with our vet? I also want to know if this is common with the transition to a hydrolyzed diet.
