2024.05.14 22:46 Prior-Ad502 Today my girlfriend dumped me because I was bad at sex

I don't really know who to talk to about this so I figured I'll just write write a post and unfold my sorrow.
We only had like a month, but it felt like way more time passed. We did everything together and got attached really quickly (which, now that I think about it, might have been a part of the problem, since we rushed everything too much; like, I said "I love you" in the first week). I asked her twice if we were moving too fast and she said that it's fine everytime. I guess I should have known better than to believe that...
Things were kinda complicated from the start. My best friend was together with her best friend for 3 years and they broke up, so naturally she didn't like him. She also didn't like any of my other friends. I liked garlic, she didn't. I listen to rock music, she doesn't. But I figured these were just small things that don't matter that much if I just do anything in my power to support her and get her flowers, take her on dates, shower her with attention etc. And she genuinely seemed to like me for who I am.
But today I woke up to a break up text, saying that she can't be with me because certain things were making her uncomfortable. My friend group was obviously a problem, but she also said that she didn't like it when we had sex and she can't get over that, since it is very important for her. And guess what, I AGREE. It is also very important for me and I CANNOT understand why it was that bad. I really don't wanna make it sound like and excuse, but it felt bad from both sides... Especially the last time we did it. I felt the fact that she didn't want it and for me it felt more like a chore. Like, I forced myself to finish just to get it over with because it was just so awkward...
It really hit my self esteem because I've never had this problem. I'm pretty sure that there was a time when my ex from last year was staying with me only because of the fact that she liked having sex with me, even though we didn't get along very well anymore. Another girl from my hometown (with a very high body count) was bragging to her friends that I'm in her top 3. And now my ego is shot to hell... I feel unworthy to even masturbate. I don't even know how I'm going to have sex ever again, I feel very insecure about myself. I hate what I see in the mirror. Were the other girls just lying? My lengths is just above average and I've always thought sex was one of my strong suits but now.. I feel worthless.
She wasn't even rude, she said she still liked me and loves how well we get along. Which just makes me feel like the "good guy" stereotype...
I even started smoking again after I've quit for 3 years. I don't fucking know, sorry if the post is too long. Even writing this feels like I'm playing a victim card and it's making me feel like and excuse of a man..
Anyone got any advice before I go down a road of alcohol and titan gel / viagra usage?

Graduation Bouquets: Making the Day Extra Special
Graduation is a milestone moment, marking the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. As graduates prepare to embark on new adventures, celebrating this achievement with a beautiful bouquet can make the day even more memorable. Whether you're creating your bouquet or ordering one online, here's everything you need to know to make the day extra special.

Importance of Graduation Bouquets

https://preview.redd.it/e5if4cr9mb0d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=271467775fd27273e4cd93b95951f2c9037257f9
Graduation bouquets are not just beautiful floral arrangements; they symbolize the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. They serve as a tangible reminder of the graduate's achievements and are often used as a centerpiece during graduation ceremonies and celebrations.

Choosing the Perfect Bouquet

When choosing a graduation bouquet, consider the graduate's personality and preferences. Opt for colors and themes that reflect their style and the significance of the occasion. Popular flower choices include roses, lilies, and sunflowers, but feel free to choose flowers that hold special meaning for the graduate.
Floral Garage Singapore offers customizable pricing, allowing you to select flowers that fit your budget. With a wide variety of blooms to choose from, you can create a bouquet that suits your style and price range. Additionally, they provide free same-day delivery, ensuring your flowers arrive fresh and on time.

DIY Graduation Bouquets

Creating a DIY graduation bouquet can add a personal touch to the celebration. To make your own bouquet, start by choosing a variety of flowers in the graduate's favorite colors. Arrange the flowers in a bouquet holder or vase, adding greenery for a full, lush look. Finish with a ribbon or bow for a polished finish.

Ordering Graduation Bouquets Online

If you're short on time or prefer a professional touch, consider ordering a graduation bouquet online. Many florists offer a wide selection of bouquets designed specifically for graduations. Look for bouquets that can be personalized with the graduate's name or a special message for an extra thoughtful touch.

Unique Graduation Bouquet Ideas

For a truly unique graduation bouquet, consider personalized or non-traditional options. Personalized bouquets can include flowers that hold special meaning for the graduate, such as their birth flower or favorite bloom. Non-traditional bouquets, such as those made from paper flowers or succulents, can also make a bold statement.

Budget-Friendly Options

Celebrating graduation doesn't have to break the bank. There are plenty of budget-friendly options for graduation bouquets, such as choosing seasonal flowers or opting for smaller arrangements. DIY bouquets are also a cost-effective choice, allowing you to create a beautiful arrangement without spending a fortune.

Caring for Graduation Bouquets

To ensure your graduation bouquet lasts as long as possible, follow these tips for caring for fresh flowers. Keep the bouquet in a cool, well-lit area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Change the water every few days and trim the stems at an angle to help the flowers absorb water more easily.

Conclusion

Graduation bouquets are a beautiful way to celebrate a significant milestone in life. Whether you're creating your bouquet or ordering one online, the key is to choose flowers that reflect the graduate's personality and style. With a little thought and creativity, you can create a bouquet that will make the day extra special.

2024.05.14 06:10 CEOJJrecords Is My Best Friend In the Wrong for Checking Me at My Wedding?

It was an overcast morning in late spring, the kind of day where you can't decide if it's going to pour rain or clear up. The weather was perfectly indecisive, much like my feelings about the intricate details that had consumed the last several months of planning this monumental event. You see, the wedding was set to be held at the grand yet somewhat clichéd 'Whispering Willows' event hall. The name alone should give you an idea of the kind of pretentious place it was, with its overly manicured gardens and staff who wore constant, painfully forced smiles.
The day started with me waking up at exactly 6:30 AM, as I had meticulously planned. My schedule was packed with all the banal but necessary activities that precede a wedding: a light breakfast of exactly two boiled eggs and a slice of whole wheat toast (no butter), a shower that I timed to last no longer than seven minutes to conserve both water and time, and a session of silent meditation where I tried to find some semblance of peace amidst the chaos.
By 10:00 AM, I was at the venue, ensuring every napkin was folded in a precise bishop's hat fold, not the Dutch crown fold that the staff had mistakenly started with. I corrected this with a slight twitch of irritation. As I roamed the venue, I checked off trivial things on my checklist: the placement of the 150 meticulously chosen floral centerpieces, the angle of the 200 chiavari chairs (which I adjusted from 90 to 85 degrees to encourage more intimate conversation), and the volume of the background classical music (which should be exactly 40 decibels, no more, no less).
Around 11:47 AM, as I was verifying that each of the 250 champagne flutes was free of smudges and positioned 2.5 inches from the edge of the reception tables, Eric, my college friend, approached me. His presence was as sudden as it was unnecessary at that moment. He wore a suit that was one shade too dark for the daytime event, and his tie was asymmetrically knotted.
"Hey," Eric started, clearing his throat while I pretended not to notice the new watermark he had just put on one of the pristine flutes with his thumb. "Can we talk a sec?"
I glanced at my watch, noting that this unscheduled conversation was eating into the 12 minutes I had allocated to inspect the DJ's equipment setup. But Eric had that look — the kind where you know you're about to be dragged into a conversation you didn't schedule or want.
"Sure, Eric," I said, masking my annoyance with a tone flatter than the soda left out from last night's rehearsal dinner.
He pulled me slightly aside, right near the painstakingly positioned ice sculpture of Cupid, which was now melting at an anticipated rate of 0.5 inches per hour, a detail I noted with a frown.
"You're, uh, coming off a bit strong with all this," Eric muttered, gesturing vaguely at my clipboard and then at the surrounding spectacle of my own design. "It’s your big day, man. You should relax. You're too... I don’t know, edgy?"
I stared at him, the words 'too edgy' echoing in my mind like a bad song on repeat. Too edgy? I was merely ensuring that the event adhered to a standard that would prevent any future nightmares about a less-than-perfect wedding day.
"Thanks for the input, Eric," I said, my voice as dry as the unseasoned chicken I had vetoed from the menu last week. "I’ll take that under advisement."
He nodded, seemingly relieved to have dispensed his wisdom, and wandered off to undoubtedly commit more fingerprints to glass surfaces.
Returning to my checklist, I noted the time of Eric’s interruption and adjusted my schedule, allowing 30 fewer seconds at each remaining task to make up for lost time. The rest of the day proceeded in a blur of similarly thrilling activities: verifying the pH level of the water in the vases to ensure optimal flower freshness, triple-checking the seating chart to avoid the disastrous potential of Aunt Marge sitting next to Cousin Larry, and discussing the viscosity of the gravy with the caterer to ensure it poured smoothly without being too watery.
By the time the actual ceremony started, I had recalibrated the entire event down to the second, all while pondering Eric's words. Too edgy? Perhaps, but in a world full of chaos, I was the master of wedding logistics, turning what could have been an eventful and vibrant day into a perfectly planned, substance-lacking sequence of timed events.
And so, as I stood there, exchanging vows in a ceremony that was timed to coincide with the exact moment the sun was highest in the sky (for optimal lighting, naturally), I couldn't help but reflect on Eric's advice. Maybe he was right; perhaps I could have been less edgy. But then again, the day went off without a hitch, exactly as planned, right down to the last, predictable, perfectly unremarkable minute.
My friend Eric has been with me since we were kids, we grew up on the same street actually. Is he wrong for doing this?

Quick and Easy Vegan Keto Coconut Cake
This cake is made entirely of natural foods; manufactured gluten-free flour is not necessary; instead, the body may be nourished and its hormones, including blood sugar, can be balanced. To keep this dish egg-free and to tie everything together, chia gel is used. The result is a cake that is low in carbohydrates and appropriate for a ketogenic diet, in addition to being delicious.Shredded coconut gives the mixture body and sweetness, improving the frosting's smoothness and delivering hits of coconut taste with every bite. This frosting can be made without regular sugar by using vanilla stevia or Luo han, which is a mild sweetener. A dash of vanilla extract unifies everything for a wonderful scent.

2024.05.14 01:36 Cptn-40 Dwarves & Dreamers - Interesting Similarities

MURTAGH spoilers ahead.
Hi all,
Just wanted to share some interesting similarities between Dwarves and Dreamers I noticed while rereading parts of Murtagh and Eldest. I'll also call attention to some interesting unrelated comments on some of the text cited below as well.

Religion & Incense:
Eldest:
The dwarf beckoned again and strode down the main avenue toward
Celbedeil. As they passed under its eaves, Eragon could only marvel at
the wealth and craftsmanship displayed around him. The walls were
spotted with gems of every color and cut—though all flawless—and red
gold had been hammered into the veins lacing the stone ceilings, walls,
and floor. Pearls and silver provided accents. Occasionally, they passed a
screen partition carved entirely of jade.
MURTAGH:
Unlike before, she wore an elaborate headpiece of jade
and leather that was black and polished to an oily sheen. Her dress was red
and, again, sewn from strips of knotted straps. Rubies and emeralds glinted
from the rings on her thumbs.
Comments: The jade connection was particularly interesting, as well as the emphasis on fine gems in Celbediel and on Bachel's fingers.

A side note: Dreamers love rings - Bachel wears many. Sarros, too, wore many rings:
Rings glittered on his fingers. (The Fulsome Feast, MURTAGH)
Which makes me wonder about King Orrin:
Orrin accepted the news with an equanimity that unsettled her. Then he gripped the sill with both hands and returned to his study of the city. Adorning his fingers were four large rings - (The Price of Power, Inheritance)

Incense:
Eldest: At Celbediel, religious center of Tarnag
His next impression was of smell. Flowers and incense mixed their per-fumes into an aroma so ethereal, Eragon felt as if he could live on the scent alone.
MURTAGH: At Nal Gorgoth
The chamber seemed part throne room and part inner sanctum. In its
center sat a brazier of hammered copper, ten feet across and laden with a bed
of smoldering coals. From it, smoke and incense—rich with the scent of
sage, pine, and cedar—thickened the air, although they could not obscure
the underlying taint of brimstone, which seemed stronger, more
concentrated there within the temple.

Feasts:
Eldest:
Before them were soups and stews filled with various tubers, roasted
venison, long hot loaves of sourdough bread, and rows of honeycakes
dripped with raspberry preserve. In a bed of greens lay filleted trout gar-
nished with parsley, and on the side, pickled eel stared forlornly at an urn
of cheese, as if hoping to somehow escape back into a river. A swan sat
on each table, surrounded by a flock of stuffed partridges, geese, and
Ducks.
Mushrooms were everywhere: broiled in juicy strips, placed atop a
bird’s head like a bonnet, or carved in the shape of castles amid moats of
gravy. An incredible variety was on display, from puffy white mushrooms
the size of Eragon’s fist, to ones he could have mistaken for gnarled bark,
to delicate toadstools sliced neatly in half to showcase their blue flesh.
Then the centerpiece of the feast was revealed: a gigantic roasted boar,
glistening with sauce...
“Nagra,” whispered Orik. “Giant boar...
MURTAGH:
Then the observances came to an end, and the villagers fell to feasting.
That, at least, Murtagh was familiar with. Great servings of food were
brought forth from the temple kitchens and from dwellings throughout Nal
Gorgoth. Boar meat and venison and mushrooms prepared in a dizzying
variety of dishes. Wine too, and mead, and bergenhed, and aspic, and loaves
of fresh-baked bread, and more besides. Pies, savory and sweet. Deep dishes
of creamy soup, wedges of hard and soft cheeses, berry tarts. All manner of
sumptuous food.
Tunnels: I could cite a lot of text here, but let's just recognize that both the Dwarves and Dreamers love tunnels and deep places. There are even dwarves called "deep dwellers" - this is quite the eerie title considering the cultists of Nal Gorgoth and their deep, deep caves and Oth Orum.
I'm going to leave you with an interesting quote from Inheritance, when Eragon and Arya are in the tunnels beneath Dras-Leona:
On the other side of the opening was a dark, heavily built chamber that reminded Eragon of the caves under Tronjheim - (Under Hill And Stone)
Some of my upcoming theory posts:
- was Vrael a Dreamer?
- Who are the light-bringers?

You are not recommended to try spells to bring a lover back if you are going through the following: You know that your relationship with your ex is toxic and the best painful option to take in this is to move on. It is not a good choice to be in a relationship that is un-natural, one that is built on witchcraft. The love spark as to be their at all times.
Even the most powerful love spell may not fulfill the things that are required for a real relationship to be in place. Love should be natural and if your partner looses interest in you, its better that you let them follow the heart. If one door closes, expect another open infront of you.
Therefore witchcraft or love spells should not be the ultimate solution to mending a broken heart in a relationship, one has to make love exist naturally by doing the right things to your partner, the things that will recapture the inner feelings of love and affection as you did in the start of the relationship.
Only if and when all has been tried and failed to work that one should order for my love spells that actually work, and indeed this will be the last nail in the coffin to fix your troubled relationship permanently.

Innovative Floral Artistry: A Guide to Modern Flower Arrangements
Modern Flower Arrangements
Flowers have held a special place in human culture for millennia, symbolizing love, celebration, and beauty. But floral arrangements have evolved far beyond the traditional round bouquets. Modern flower arrangements embrace a spirit of innovation, pushing the boundaries of color, texture, and form. This guide will unveil the secrets to creating stunning modern flower arrangements, transforming your home or event into a captivating space.

Breaking the Mold: Characteristics of Modern Flower Arrangements

Modern flower arrangements depart from the symmetrical, tightly packed style often associated with traditional bouquets. Here are some key characteristics that define the modern aesthetic:
  • Unconventional Color Palettes: Ditch the expected and explore unexpected color combinations. Think bold monochromes, vibrant contrasts, or a soft, pastel symphony.
  • Playing with Texture: Incorporate a variety of textures for visual intrigue. Combine soft roses with spiky succulents, delicate ferns with fluffy pampas grass, or velvety dahlias with smooth calla lilies.
  • Asymmetrical Balance: Modern arrangements don't require perfect symmetry. Embrace an asymmetrical flow that creates a sense of movement and dynamism.
  • Negative Space is Your Friend: Don't feel obligated to fill every inch of the vase. Let negative space breathe between the flowers, highlighting their individual beauty.
  • Unexpected Containers: Think beyond the traditional glass vase. Modern arrangements utilize unique containers like geometric terrariums, vintage tins, or even driftwood sculptures.
  • Seasonal Inspiration: Embrace the fleeting beauty of the seasons. Use locally-sourced, in-season flowers for a fresh and sustainable approach.

Crafting Your Masterpiece: A Step-by-Step Guide

Now that you understand the hallmarks of modern arrangements, let's get your hands dirty!
  • Gather your Supplies: Fresh flowers (consider incorporating foliage and filler elements), floral shears, a selection of interesting containers (waterproof them if necessary), floral foam (optional) and floral tape (optional).
  • Prep Your Flowers: Cut stems diagonally with sharp shears to maximize water absorption. Remove any excess leaves below the waterline. Precondition thirsty blooms by placing them stem-deep in cool water for a few hours.
  • Choose Your Container: Select a container that complements the overall style and scale of your arrangement. Consider the height and width of the flowers in relation to the container.
  • Assemble the Base (Optional): If using a shallow container or desiring more control over placement, create a grid base with floral tape. Alternatively, use floral foam soaked in water for a more stable foundation.
  • Building Your Arrangement: Start with your largest or focal flower, placing it in the desired central position. Build around this focal point, adding contrasting colors, textures, and heights for visual interest.
  • Foliage and Fillers: Foliage like eucalyptus or ferns add depth and greenery. Fillers like baby's breath or berries enhance texture and fill negative space.
  • Securing Your Creation: Once satisfied with the arrangement, use floral tape or pins to secure the stems discreetly in place, especially if using a loose, asymmetrical style.
  • Adding the Finishing Touches: Top off your creation with a decorative element like a beautiful ribbon or a spritz of water shimmer spray for a touch of glamor.

Embrace the Unexpected: Modern Design Ideas

  • Monochrome Magic: Create a dramatic impact with a single color palette in varying shades and textures. Think deep purple orchids with lavender roses and wispy statice.
  • Branching Out: Incorporate interesting branches or twigs for a sculptural element. Play with height and angles for a modern, organic aesthetic.
  • Succulent Sensations: Succulents and cacti offer a low-maintenance, modern twist on floral arrangements. Combine them with air plants or colorful pebbles for a desert-inspired vibe.
  • Deconstructed Elegance: Break apart a traditional bouquet and arrange the individual stems in a cluster for a minimalist, artistic effect.
  • Hanging Gardens: Suspending arrangements in terrariums or macrame plant hangers adds a whimsical touch to modern spaces.

Beyond the Basics: Advanced Techniques for Modern Flower Arrangements

Once you've mastered the fundamentals, explore these advanced techniques to elevate your modern flower arrangements to new heights:
  • Color Blocking: Create a bold statement by using distinct blocks of color in your arrangement. Imagine hot pink lilies contrasting with deep purple calla lilies or orange tulips juxtaposed with blue thistle.
  • Ombre Delights: Embrace the gradual transition of color with an ombre effect. Use flowers that come in a range of hues within a single color palette, like a light pink to deep fuchsia gradient or a pale yellow to fiery orange progression.
  • Floral Crowns and Garlands: Modern floral artistry extends beyond vases. Create stunning floral crowns or garlands for a unique centerpiece, table runner, or even a statement wall hanging. Experiment with fresh or dried flowers depending on your desired aesthetic.
  • Playing with Scale: Don't be afraid to go big or small! Create dramatic floor arrangements with towering branches and oversized blooms, or craft delicate miniature arrangements in teacups or seashells for a whimsical touch.
  • Dried Delights: Dried flowers offer a long-lasting, sustainable alternative to fresh blooms. Create textural arrangements with dried pods, grasses, and preserved flowers for a rustic-modern aesthetic.

Caring for Your Modern Masterpiece

  • Fresh Starts: Change the water in your arrangement every few days to prevent bacterial growth. Give the stems a fresh cut at an angle while replacing the water.
  • Location, Location, Location: Display your modern arrangement away from direct sunlight and heat sources, as these can shorten the lifespan of your blooms.
  • Hydration Hero: Mist the flowers lightly every few days to maintain their freshness, especially in dry climates.

Modern Flower Arrangements: More Than Just Aesthetics

Modern flower arrangements are more than just visually stunning; they can evoke emotions, tell stories, and set the mood for a space. Here are some inspiring ways to incorporate modern arrangements into your life:
  • Elevating Your Home Decor: Modern arrangements add a touch of artistry and life to any room. Place them on a console table, coffee table, or bookshelf for a vibrant pop of color and texture.
  • Creating a Tabletop Statement: Impress your guests at a dinner party with a modern centerpiece that complements your table setting and overall ambiance.
  • Celebrating Special Occasions: Move beyond the traditional bouquet and gift a unique, modern flower arrangement for birthdays, anniversaries, or any special occasion.
  • Adding a Touch of Zen: Modern arrangements with calming color palettes and natural elements like bamboo or orchids can create a tranquil atmosphere in your home office or spa-like bathroom.
  • Embracing Sustainability: Opt for locally-sourced, in-season flowers and utilize eco-friendly containers like recycled glass or woven baskets for a sustainable approach to floral artistry.

Conclusion: The Art of Modern Floral Design

The world of modern flower arrangements is a playground for creativity. Embrace the unconventional, experiment with different techniques, and most importantly, have fun! With a little practice and these helpful tips, you can create stunning arrangements that will transform your space and leave a lasting impression.
So, unleash your inner floral artist, explore the endless possibilities, and let your blooms speak for themselves!

FAQs: Unleashing Your Inner Floral Artist

  • What flowers are best for modern arrangements? There are no hard and fast rules! Experiment with a variety of blooms, but consider air plants, orchids, proteas, lilies, tulips, and roses for their unique shapes and textures.

Dried Flowers: A Timeless Beauty in Home Decor and Beyond

Introduction

Dried flowers have been used for centuries as decorations, gifts, and even in medicinal practices. Their popularity has grown steadily, and they are now a staple in many homes and events. This article explores the world of dried flowers, from their history to their modern-day uses.

History and Evolution of Dried Flowers

https://preview.redd.it/bjm8889eb40d1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=e859375a17559b49dcea3c92255c747feba70092
Drying flowers dates back to ancient times, when people discovered that certain flowers retained their beauty even after drying. The Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans all used dried flowers for various purposes, including religious ceremonies and adornment. Over time, different cultures developed their own techniques for drying flowers, leading to a wide variety of methods and styles.

Benefits of Dried Flowers

One of the main benefits of dried flowers is their longevity. Unlike fresh flowers, which wilt and die within days, dried flowers can last for years if properly cared for. They also retain their color and shape, making them a beautiful and cost-effective alternative to fresh flowers.

Popular Varieties of Dried Flowers

Many different types of flowers are suitable for drying, each with its own unique characteristics and appeal. Some popular choices include roses, lavender, baby's breath, and eucalyptus. These flowers are not only beautiful but also retain their fragrance, adding a pleasant aroma to any space.

How to Preserve Flowers

There are several methods for drying flowers, including air drying, pressing, and using desiccants. Each method has its advantages and is suitable for different types of flowers. Air drying is the simplest method and involves hanging flowers upside down in a warm, dry place until they are completely dried.

DIY Dried Flower Arrangements

Creating your own dried flower arrangements can be a fun and rewarding experience. You can use a variety of flowers and foliage to create unique designs that reflect your style and personality. Some popular DIY dried flower arrangements include wreaths, bouquets, and wall hangings.

Using Dried Flowers in Home Decor

Dried flowers add a touch of natural beauty to any home decor. They can be used in vases, wreaths, and potpourri to create a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Dried flowers are also a popular choice for weddings and other special occasions, adding a rustic and romantic touch to the decor.

Dried Flowers in Wedding Decor

Dried flowers are becoming increasingly popular in wedding decor due to their longevity and versatility. They can be used in bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres, adding a unique and personalized touch to the event. Dried flowers are also a more sustainable option for weddings, as they can be reused or composted after the event.

Dried Flowers in Art and Crafts

Dried flowers are not just for decoration; they can also be used in art and crafts projects. You can use dried flowers to create pressed flower art, greeting cards, and even jewelry. Their vibrant colors and delicate textures make them a popular choice for artists and crafters alike.

Environmental Impact of Dried Flowers

Unlike fresh flowers, which are often flown in from other countries, dried flowers have a lower environmental impact. They require less water and energy to produce and can be composted at the end of their life cycle, reducing waste. Using dried flowers in place of fresh flowers is a small but meaningful way to reduce your carbon footprint.

Buying Dried Flowers: Tips and Considerations

When purchasing dried flowers, it's crucial to assess their quality and origin. Seek out flowers that are well-maintained, devoid of any mold or discoloration. Opt for vendors with a strong reputation for employing sustainable methods. For instance, Floral Garage Singapore offers a wide array of flower varieties and even provides complimentary same-day delivery.

Caring for Dried Flowers

Proper care is essential to ensuring that your dried flowers last as long as possible. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from moisture, as these can cause them to fade and deteriorate. Dust them regularly with a soft brush or cloth to keep them looking their best.

Conclusion

Dried flowers are a beautiful and versatile alternative to fresh flowers, with a long history and a wide range of uses. Whether you're using them in home decor, art, or crafts, dried flowers add a touch of natural beauty to any space. With proper care, dried flowers can last for years, making them a sustainable and eco-friendly choice for flower lovers everywhere.

2024.05.12 21:28 spicycomputergal Not your typical (femenine) summer fragrances

I have been down a rabbit-hole these past few days, in search of the perfect companion for my tropical vacation this summer. I wasn't disappointed! There are plenty of options out there, for every income and every taste. To preface this, I must say I'm a little difficult when it comes to fresh fragrances: I tend to prefer heavier scents that make a statement, and I am sort of a vintage-style scents lover. I profoundly dislike cardamom, lemon is a no-no, and lavender usually is too masculine for me. I prefer floral, musky scents with the occasional citrus kick, but I avoid the usual tropical flower and fruit. In consequence, these aren't your typical summer fragrances. Here we go, in no particular order:

Granado - Rosa Damascena
OK, this comes in a huge bottle: even 100 mL of an eau de cologne is too much for me. I have been on a rose kick since last year, so I hope this has that intense (or well, freshly intense) rose scent I crave for. The brand also offers shower gels and lotions of the same scent, and I am so excited to try this all together!

Berdoues - Freesia & Coton
I imagine this as a delicate floral, powdery cloud with notes of freesia (duh), musk, cashmere blonde woods and some light citrus to bring some sparkle. I really enjoy cotton notes in perfumes for spring and summer, and usually Berdoues doesn't disappoint with respect to fresh fragrances, so I hope I will like this.

Chanel - Paris Venise
I usually find neroli, petit-grain and orange blossom too harsh, or at least on my skin. So, with the addition of tonka bean and vanilla I hope it won't be the case! I do like orange, for example, but find orange-centric fragrances too masculine for my specific taste so this is the next best thing. And don't even get me started on lemon! My boyfriend and, by transitivity, I, find it too toilet-cleaning-supply-ish: that's why most of the other fresh fragrances are out of the question for me.

Guerlain - Aqua Allegoria Mandarine Basilic
But worry not, dear friend, there's still some citrus to explore! Well, I know, this one is well-known but I couldn't not mention it. I love, love, LOVE juicy mandarin scents. I tend to avoid bitter, green unripe citrus fruits scents, and this is not like that. I have a sample of this fragrance, so I can actually give a review: in some way, the basil gives a coriander-like human-skin muskiness that I find comforting.

Goutal - L'Île au ThĂ©
Another mandarin scent, even though I don't have any sample nor have gone to test it in person. Tea fragrances seem to smell fresh by consensus, even if it's a hot drink, and reviews say this particular fragrance is "sparkly", "a little bit herbal", and "inoffensive" which is exactly what I'm looking for.

Fragonard - Jasmin Perle de Thé
I love jasmine, even in its dirtiest forms, so finding a fragrance for summer that contains it is a dream come true. I suppose the flower won't be as indolic as I'm used to, and that along with tea it will be greener than I usually wear, but I'm eager to give this a try.

Olibanum - Ambrette
Here we enter into the clean musk territory, with a strong contender: ambrette seed and olibanum resin (frankincense, if I'm not mistaken). For some reason, I find incense rather cooling instead of warming, so together with a vegetal musk it is the recipe for success.

Le Couvent - Mimosa
When thinking summer, I think of not-so-classic florals and musks. So, I naturally gravitated towards mimosa: reviews say it smells like the real thing, a honeyed but very subtle floral brightened by some zesty bergamot and backed up by cedar. I suppose there are some other notes, but the notes pyramid doesn't reveal anything else.

Fragonard - Lilas
Hurry up, this is a limited edition scent! I saw that some of us love lilac, with its spring-time freshness and delicate powderiness, and are actively looking for our holy grail. I associate the fragrance to fresh linen in my mind, so that's why such a spring-themed perfume is tropical appropriate to my nose. I had the pleasure to try it in store, and needless to say, it is very pretty.

Of course, L'Occitane offers a number of fresh fragrances that are worth every penny, but I haven't been personally in a store to try them and none appealed me from the notes. Also, have you tried any of these? Or do you have any other uncommon summer scent recommendations? I'm all ears!

Hi! DogFish here. I just got into Percy Jackson, uh oh. Anywho, welcome to this RP, again, this is dated in the first Percy Jackson series, PJO (Percy Jackson and the Olympians). Book Characters do exist in this RP but unless anyone volunteers to RP as them, npc them if you’d like them to be involved with your story. Otherwise pretend they don’t exist, and none are cabin councilors unless requested. ‌IMPORTANT ‌YOU MUST KNOW THE CABIN NUMBERS THAT ASSOCIATE WITH EACH GOD OR GODDESS! CABIN ONE = ZEUS, CABIN TWO = HERA, CABIN THREE = POSEIDON, CABIN FOUR = DEMETER, CABIN FIVE = ARES, CABIN SIX = ATHENA, CABIN SEVEN = APOLLO, CABIN EIGHT = ARTEMIS, CABIN NINE = HEPHAESTUS, CABIN TEN = APHRODITE, CABIN ELEVEN = HERMES, CABIN TWELVE = DIONYSUS ‌‌
————————————————————
Bio Template:
Name - Age - Cabin/Parent - Other Family - Appearance - Personality - Canon Character Friends - OC Friends - Ship - Backstory? - Nationality/Ancestry/Accent - Nicknames - Aesthetic - Other Languages besides English? - Favorite Camp Activity - Relationship/Opinions On/With Godly Parent - Wish/Dream/Goal - Voiceclaims - Other - MBTI - Name To Call You When We Aren’t Roleplaying :]
Example:
Beckett Colins - 13 - unclaimed (HERMES’ SON) - He did have a mom, and they were very close, as they were poor. - Beckett is a short, slim boy with knotted dark brown hair (that’s been dyed a lighter brown, but not fully so it’s kinda spotty) - He’s pretty shaky, he has major trust issues, and he always looks like he’s on the verge of crying. He’s really (mentally) strong though. He doesn’t cry unless other people do. Or he’s hurt. He’s tough even when he’s hurt though. He’s a bit afraid to speak up or ask for help sometimes, since he’s scared someone will tell him off for it. - Luke and Chris are like his adopted dads or something. No but seriously, an older (probably girl to remind him of his mom) in the Hermes cabin, unclaimed or claimed Hermes child, would be his mothefather figure to cope with being unclaimed. - N/A - N/A - he and his mom were very close, living in an overdue with rent apartment in a rundown neighborhood in NYC, but she died of heart failure when he was 8, and left Beckett to fend for himself on the streets of New York City. Thankfully he got food and things from people who felt bad, he had the cute factor of a child. Then he found CHB :] - His mother was heavily German, and could only speak German. He has a thick German accent especially when he speaks the language (it was his first language, as he learned it before English, which he’s still pretty bad at) - Rahh idk - Homeless. Idk streetwear? - He speaks German :) - uhhhhshajajkwkwksmzmk probably like nothing bc he’s pretty useless at everything tbh. - he wishes he could know him. - to be claimed. - Ben Platt (idk lol I was listening to DEH) - Aaauushhshsjjak idk help the poor boy - ISFP - EXAMPLE_NPC
đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠ
So this RP I’m trying something new ! Everyone will have a starter prompt for every oc you roleplay as, just to give a feel of your overall character, you can give a description of what you look like, a dialouge to show how your oc speaks, or anything else that gives you a little tap into what your oc is like !! You may put this in ‘Other’ in your bio templates or not, the choice is yours, and these can also be used as RP starting prompts. You do have to pm me your starter prompt at some point before you begin roleplaying, so I can also make sure you know how to roleplay, and are exp. ‌PLEASE WRITE THEM IN 2ND PERSON, USING YOU/YOURS PRNS FOR THE READER‌
Example with Beckett —
.:You watch from across the amphitheater, at a frail, small looking boy, sitting with a few older Hermes boys, chatting and occasionally laughing. The Apollo cabin was leading a song at the moment, by the campfire, as the Ares cabin shot looks at the Athena cabin. All of which was relatively normal. The boy you were staring at caught your gaze. He gave a quick smile and a shy wave, before glancing back to the older boys and laughing a bit. (Not at you,) :.
Examples for each of my oc’s —
ARLO-
— As you tread through the forest you hear a stick snap in the distance, which earns a small squeak from the perpetrator. He’s a seemingly suntanned boy with dirt patches on his arms and face as he turns your direction. His brown eyes gleam amber in the sunlight. Definitely a son of Apollo, you thought as he froze, pondering if he should approach you. A wide grin broke out onto his face. — ` Heeeeyyyy..! What’re you doin’ out here? ` — He tilted his head. He looked around, awkwardly. “Ignore the uh.. mud..” he gave an awkward laugh as he wiped the dry mud and dirt from his arms and cheeks, waiting for your response.—
RUTHIE-
— You move into the back corner of the Forge, carefully trying to dodge sparks from metal, bracing your ears for the loud clangs and excruciating heat from the fires. You settle yourself into a comfortable standing position as you begin to heat up your sword with a blowtorch, grabbing goggles and placing them on your head. You feel a pair of eyes burning into your side, as you turn your gaze to your left and spot a short-haired girl staring at you with a flat expression. She has goggles pushed upwards on top of her head and gloves on as she looked down at your sword, not bothering to make eye contact. —` You’re doing it wrong. ` — She comments dryly. —
RAIYNA-
— you walk up to the big house, therefore Mr D, tiredly. Your cabin mates had been bickering all night and you were about to report it, but instead of the man in a floral Hawaiian shirt as always, it was a younger girl, shuffling a deck of cards with a bored expression on her face. She glanced over at you and cracked a small smile. — ` Thank gods someone’s here to talk to me. I was getting bored out of my mind. ` —She tilted her head at you, you opened your mouth to speak but she cut you off. — ` If you need my dad, he’s uh,, somewhere, I don’t exactly know where, ‘cause all I heard was ‘in charge’ and I stopped listening, ` — It was almost as if she read your mind. — ` I’m Raina, you? ` — The black-haired girl prompted, setting the cards down. —
đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠđŸ•ïžđŸ”±đŸŒŠ

Dialogue-
Dialogue is probably going to be most of what you type later on in the role-play. Dialogue is when a character is talking, either to themselves or to others. You need marks to represent dialogue though
 soo- here’s some ideas :)

At the beginning of every good rp- you use an entire PARAGRAPH of this crap. Oh jeez- every rp I do- I start with a paragraph of some actions or a description of what’s going on around me. Actions are basically everything that isn’t dialogue and thoughts in an rp. That means- “the wind blew softly” is an action in roleplaying. So is- “the floorboards creaked loudly” :) here are some action marks that you can use :D

Valentine Conner-
15- APHRODITE- the Conners (humans) - A young looking female with brown eyes and light brown hair, she has pale skin and lots of lashes. Her eyes brows are thin and fluffy and is thin. She has freckles on her face and has a height of 5’5 - She is kind, honest (a little too honest,) but can keep secrets, funny, and brave. - (to be made) -(anything dogfish does) - None đŸ€© - Nothing dark, just a happy life until her momma made her leave for camp.- German American (like me), with a bit of a German accent. - Val, valentines, tree. - COQUETTE AND DOWNTOWN GIRL đŸŽ€đŸ–€ -she can speak German..- Canoes & sleep.- SHE LOVES HER GODLY MOMMY ❀- to make a bouquet by the end of camp with mixed flowers, and to get her phone back. - none yet.. - She likes bows and flowers..-(shown in photo)- Lola 🎀
Raiyna Speals -
14 - Cabin 12/Dionysus - mother was a traveling singer and danceentertainer for the renaissance festival, Castor and Pollux which she has a decent relationship with - she has silky black mid-length hair and purple eyes, which she put contacts in when she was younger, since kids would bully her for the fact, she has pale-ish skin that mostly pales in the wintertime, which is why she loves heat. - She’s very sarcastic and has a good sense of humor, while she can be dry sometimes she’s also very good at acting and lying, from her dad. She likes talking. A lot. She’s very good at manipulating people, but she never really uses that ability much. She’s “cold” to people she doesn’t like, and she’s kinda the definition of “I don’t care what anyone thinks”, but she won’t just go frolicking in public screaming Good For You from Dear Evan Hansen at top lung capacity. She’s very dry sometimes, and extremely stubborn. She holds grudges against people, and she thinks first expressions are the most important. She’s a really supportive friend though. She can get quite disrespectful, and believes she shouldn’t have to follow any rules she doesn’t agree with. Overall She’s pretty laidback, unless passionate about a certain topic. - Percy def, uhh, Castor and Pollux, I dunno she likes to stay by herself mostly. Oh yeah, and Grover, they’re gossip buddies - Arlo, APOLLO CABIN KIDS!! - open, probably won’t get one though - miRP - Her mother had polish decent, she’s mostly American though. - Rai-Rai (Mr D.) Rai (Apollo kids) - Dark Academia - She speaks Spanish, French, German, and Italian (not fluently) because she needed to translate some for her mother while traveling. - Archery, she’s like, too good at archery, mostly because her cabin only really had three people in it and she’s convinced her dad to let her practice extra all the time. She also likes doing stuff with the Apollo cabin in general, since their dads are kinda like the two theatre Gods - “I get it, you’re all— without fathers I..” “I’m not. I love my dad.” She loves Dionysus, mostly because he lets her do things other campers can’t, through guilt tripping <3 also cause he teaches her card games, so she can beat her other friends and brag about it. - To make the Gods stop using them as players in their little game, she feels very strongly about defying the Gods,, for some reason. She knows she’ll never succeed, she just wants (mostly for her friends) the gods to actually notice their children. - some form of Janis Ian/Sarkisian - She likes trying to sneak her dad wine, that’s why she’s the favorite child :] - INTJ - DogFish
Arlo Pesci -
17 - Cabin 7/Apollo - his mom was a marine biologist, they had a really close connection. He had a dad (his mom’s husband) before Apollo, who was a nurse, but y’know, after he found out his wife was pregnant with someone random’s child, he divorced her. His stepdad was an ecologist, who worked at a zoo, so he spent most of his childhood at a zoo, now he loves animals. Until his stepdad got a divorce from his mom for money reasons. He’s the middle child of two mortal sisters. His older sister was born from his dad before Apollo, and his younger sister was born from his stepdad. His older sister’s name is Devyn, and his younger sister’s name is Emma - He has curly dirty blonde hair and suntanned skin, with brown/azure eyes that appear orange in the sun. Sometimes he uses hair gel, but he’s mostly given that up, because nobody really cares about what you look like at CHB. He’s often covered in dirt, and sometimes has leaves and twigs caught in his hair. During capture the flag he puts mud on his arms and stuff, and sometimes he creates tiger patterns on himself from the mud :] - He’s very passionate, and mostly happy, but he gets hurt very easily, emotionally. He cries easily as well. It’s a bad habit of his to cry over every little thing. He isn’t very smart, nor was he ever good at school, but he loves the people he surrounds himself with. He’s extremely gullible. Extrovert for sure. - WWIIILLLLL<3333 - uhh, Raiyna, OPEN!! GIVE THIS BOY FRIENDS! - 💍who’s gonna take this - sort of explained in family - his mom was American, with some unknown European ancestors. He’s caucasian. - Songbird/Sunshine (ship) - PrismCore - he’s not very good at that memory thing, probably not, - archery, as any Apollo child, that’s where he met Raiyna ! - he just wishes he could give his dad a big hug, let the boy hug his dad :[ - he wants everyone around him to be happy - Will Connelly or Jake Ryan Flynn - he’s an overachiever :( OH YEAH, HE PLAYS THE UKULELE, AND BASS GUITAR ! - ESFJ - DogFish :]
Ruthie Hearthstone -
16 - Hephaestus - she has her mom and stepdad back home, they’re inventors, - She’s a pale brunette with red streaks in her short hair. She doesn’t wear glasses, although she needs them. She has short sight. Speaking of her vision, she has hazel doe eyes and bruises/cuts on her arm from her machinery. - She’s very.. pre-season 1 Twilight Sparkle. Like, think smart (she wishes she was an Athena kid) but very socially withdrawn, she doesn’t like interaction but what she does like? Being alone with her inventions and metalwork in the forge or cabin 9 (again, pjo, not hoo.) - nobody. - nobody. - be my only friend whoever’s gonna be this girly’s ship. She may be an awkward introvert but she’ll try to give you science pickup lines and she’ll be wholesome to u :] - rrraaahhhhh uhh.. yeah um.. no? She’s just always been like this, her parents want her to be “normal” and socialize buttt? She disagrees. She ran away (AnnabethCoređŸ€©) - America. RAAAHHH 🩅🩅🩅 - Ru / Ruth. She hates when people call her Ruth, because they assume it’s her real name, when Ruthie is what she was born with. - Academia in general - she speaks French and Russian, she learned Russian for fun and French for school. - Staying in her cabin and making stuff. - She doesn’t really care, though she’d like it if she was a child of Athena. - To be actually seen as not just this weird genius girl and for a person to be accepting of her humor and real personality. - Analise Scarpaci - She doesn’t have that cool fire power or whatever, she wishes she did though (she wishes she could be better a lot, she’s actually really insecure.) - INFP - DogFish

[EU] The Crossroads Hotel universe.
You do not need to be familiar with the Crossroads universe to enjoy this short story. While it is set within the same universe, it stands alone as its own narrative.
***
A smash sounded a few yards away in the sundry shop and Nancy jumped, severely startled.
“Jesus Christ!” she exclaimed, losing the grip on her magazine, which went tumbling to the floor.
“What was that?” called a voice a moment later.
Nancy put her hand to her chest over her racing heart and took a deep breath before answering her boss, Marjorie, who was currently at the reception desk near the front of the hotel lobby. “Just a second,” she said. Picking up the magazine from the floor and putting it on the counter, she walked around some of the shelves and displays until she saw what had fallen. “Huh.”
If Nancy got a nickel every time she’d thought the phrase, “That’s new,” while working at the Crossroads Hotel, she would probably be able to retire. Being an ‘intersection’ of multiple dimensions occasionally made things appear out of nowhere, from objects to weird weather to even the occasional animal. The clatter had been from a ceramic potted plant shattering on the linoleum floor.
A moment later, Marjorie walked into the shop and where Nancy was standing, hands on her hips. “Don’t ask me,” Nancy said promptly. “I don’t know where it came from.”
“Where everything comes from,” the manager responded with a small smile. “Somewhere else. You got this?”
“Yeah, I got it,” she said with a dismissive hand wave. Marjorie nodded once before turning and walking back through the lobby.
Nancy took a look at the plant, unique as it was. It looked like the pot had been about six inches across, just the type of thing to put on a living room table as a centerpiece. The thick leaves were a gorgeous blue and purple color with white blotchy stripes, and there were deep purple flower blooms growing tall as well. Pursing her lips at the beautiful sight, Nancy couldn’t bring herself to sweep everything up and trash it, so instead, she just decided to only throw away the shattered pottery.
First, she went back to the counter and took a dustpan and brush from one of the drawers, as well as her small trash bin. After picking out the bigger pieces of the pot and putting them in the bin, Nancy picked up as much of the plant’s roots and dirt as she could, putting them aside, and then swept up the smaller pieces of shattered clay.
Once that was done, Nancy unlocked and went through the door marked Storage.
The storage area was her domain. As far as any of the employees knew, it was just storage, but they also knew it was so much more. If someone came to Nancy and requested any items, usually Marjorie or the chef Andrea on behalf of a guest or one of the guests themselves, Nancy would go fetch it. And by any items, that meant any items.
Shutting and locking the door behind her, Nancy went down the small hall to the storage room. The hallway had been purposefully added in, so no one could see into the room. Then she took out her wand, going over to her cauldron.
If she had any regrets about working here, it was that she wasn’t able to tell those she worked with that she retrieved the items they needed from a genuine large black cauldron in the middle of the room. She knew Marjorie in particular would get a kick out of it. But the fact was that it had been made from solid iron because it contained any magic that was done inside it, since iron repelled magic. It didn’t hold a stew, bubbling away like in movies. Instead, there was just a fine mist up to the rim, as if there was dry ice at the bottom.
The rest of the room was mostly empty. There was a long folding table against the wall to the right, for organization of any and all things she needed to give to those who’d requested them if there was a list. Then there were some shelving units that held boxes full of the sundry shop’s most popular items. Other than that, the room was empty.
The Crossroads Hotel was one of the rare places that had an artifact like the cauldron. Nancy had brought it with her when she’d started working there, and she knew without a doubt that the fact that she owned one was the reason she was hired.
Any witch could work at a sundry shop, and also it only took about a decade’s worth of training to properly use the cauldron. Aside from that, playing backup to the wizard who ran the hotel if the occasion presented itself was another thing on a resume that many witches out there had. But owning an artifact that could conjure items was extremely rare, and to be allowed to use them by the authorities was rarer. The witch had to be incredibly trustworthy, since only warded items were safe from its near-infinite reach.
Then there was also the door to her right, which lead to what could more properly be called Storage. It led to another location in a nearby city, a warehouse that stored any and all items that had been left by accident at the hotel. It was a warehouse because they kept things indefinitely, and the hotel had been open for over 150 years. That meant an absolute ton of items.
Nancy took out her wand, closing her eyes, and let herself slip into a calm and tranquil place. Then raising her wand, she spoke, “Afferte mihi ollam parvam plantae ex visu viso ubi multa sunt..” Roughly translated, it came out to, “Bring me a small pot for a plant from a sight unseen where they are plentiful.”
Her concentration on the direction and instruction of the spell was just as important as the words spoken and the power directed through her wand. It would take the item from somewhere on Earth where there were a lot of them and one wouldn’t be missed, for example a shelf at a closed Walmart, and teleport it to the cauldron. If it was longer than the cauldron was tall, it would allow the witch to pull it out, like a lamp from Mary Poppins’ purse. And it would work on any item as long as human eyes weren’t currently looking at it.
Once the spell had been cast, Nancy slowly drifted her wand around the top of the cauldron, murmuring, “Dissipare.” The smoke spread to the sides of the cauldron and dissipated into nothing, letting her lean down and pick up the small white ceramic pot that had appeared. Then, she walked back out to the sundry shop and knelt at the plant’s side. Sweeping together the dirt, she picked up it and the plant, carefully depositing it in the pot. Moving around and patting down the dirt, Nancy smiled in satisfaction.
After sweeping up the rest of the dirt into the dustpan and emptying it into the trash, she fetched a wet paper towel from the bathroom to get the last of it. Then she put it on the counter next to her cash register. Not long ago, they’d had a visit from some very special fae who’d been disappointed at the lack of live plants in the lobby. They’d remedied that, but Nancy figured they’d approve of any new live plant she added to the dĂ©cor.
About two hours later, there was another noise, though this time it was a thump. Nancy’s attention was piqued and she stood up, walking out of the shop. It didn’t take much time to find the culprit: a cloth bag that looked like it held some kind of sand or dirt, probably about twenty pounds worth.
Marjorie was at her side a moment later. “What is going on?” she chuckled. “Do you think we could be getting presents from someone who thinks we need more plants?”
Nancy grinned. “That would be a nice surprise.”
At that, Nancy grabbed and hefted the bag up and onto her shoulder. She wasn’t buff by any stretch of the word, but she certainly had the strength to carry a bag of dirt. Returning to the shop, she dropped the bag with another thud behind the counter, near the wall. She knew it was likely that these items would end up in the Lost and Found warehouse, but she was still curious as to what might pop up next.
It was less than an hour later that Nancy was startled again with the thumps of no fewer than three medium-sized pots, probably ten inches across, appearing in the lobby. They were within eyeshot of her sitting on her stool and they looked like a relative of the first plant that had appeared, except orange and red. Putting down her magazine once more and wandering over, she remarked, “Well aren’t you pretty.”
“How long are we going to be receiving gifts from a garden store?” Marjorie asked with a dry grin, leaning over the counter so she could see the plants. I saw the assistant manager Josh behind her, leaning further forward so he could get a good view also. “If someone’s trying to give us a hint, they certainly have at this point.”
“No kidding,” Nancy chuckled. “At least they’re nice plants
”
Her voice trailed off as she felt a breeze start to pick up. There were no doors or windows open, though, so she had no idea from where the breeze was coming from. Doing a slow turn as the wind became strong enough to ruffle her gray hair, she saw Marjorie held down her own tight brown curls lest they become tangled. Then there was a blur in the air as the front doors slid open and the telltale mental fuzziness of something coming through from somewhere else.
It was a woman, wearing a dress that had clearly been worn for years of work in a garden, with faint imprints of dirt, worn from the sun, and having been washed many times. The woman herself was the most striking thing Nancy had seen in quite some time, as she had faintly purple skin. Instead of hair, she had leaves, a soft yellow that complemented her skin tone.
Nancy walked out from behind the desk and took a glance around. If anyone saw her, the woman’s appearance would have to be passed off as some sort of cosplay.
“Hello, I’m wondering if you could-” She let out a sigh, walking over to the plants that had just appeared. Carefully checking them over for any damage, she shook her head. “Here they are. You’re the Manager, aren’t you?” she asked, glancing to Marjorie. “This is the Crossroads Hotel?”
“I am and it is,” the young woman replied, walking over from the desk.
At that, the woman, who’d yet to give her name, Nancy noticed, gave a quick look around to make sure they were alone before waving her hand over the plants. They vanished in an indistinct blur.
“There’s also a bag of soil in the sundry shop, and a smaller plant,” Marjorie told her.
“Oh, good,” she said, turning and walking over, the two employees following her. “This pot
this is new. Did you replant it?”
Nancy nodded. “Yes, ma’am. It must have fallen from a good height because the pot smashed on the floor. I repotted it because it’s so beautiful. I couldn’t imagine putting it in the Lost and Found just to dry up and fade away.”
“That was so kind of you,” the woman sighed. “I just fixed the issue that was allowing this to happen, but then it was a matter of getting back what I lost. It’s my fault. I was doing some reworking of my wards and I made a mistake.”
“No problem at all,” Nancy replied.
“You know what? Keep the plant as a gift, an appreciation of my thanks for caring for it,” she said with a dimpled smile. “It will last for years and years and only needs watering once a week, but won’t get any bigger, so this is the perfect spot for it. And I’d be honored to have one of my plants at the Crossroads Hotel.”
Nancy blinked in surprise. “Well, that’s quite kind of you!”
“Think nothing of it. It’s my life’s work to find homes for all of my plants, and this one just managed to find a home all on its own. It’s a variety of pinguicula from where I live, and should flourish without much effort.” She walked around behind the desk and spotted the bag of dirt. With another wave of her hand, it vanished the same way. “Your hospitality is greatly appreciated,” she said, looking from Marjorie to Nancy. “I must be going.”
“It was nice to meet you,” Marjorie said. Nancy smiled, guessing that the Manager had just felt she needed to say something to wrap up the encounter.
“You as well.” With another thorough glance around the lobby for anyone who might see, the woman took a few steps through the air and disappeared.
Marjorie took a closer look at the plant, smiling at the flowers that bloomed a good six inches from the leaves. “It’s really pretty.”
“Yeah. I’ve got a hunch though, considering how high the flowers are,” Nancy said thoughtfully. She placed the tip of her pointer finger on the tip of one of the leaves, then found it difficult to pull it off of the sticky surface, removing it with a small snap from the adhesive. The leaf then curled up all the way to the base.
“Oh,” Marjorie stated. “Well. A carnivorous plant from an alternate dimension. Don’t see that every day.”
“I think I’ll give it to Andrea,” Nancy said with a satisfied smile, picking up the pot. “Nothing like a living insect trap to keep your kitchen free of flies.”
Marjorie grinned after Nancy as she went off to deliver the gift.

2024.05.11 06:33 -pretty_princess being with my boyfriend is one of the most distressing thing I've put myself through.

I cant even sit here and say I love him. I don't love him anymore, and I dont knownif I ever really did. we've just been together for five months. he gave me a promise ring, but puts no effort into his promise. I have so much resentment built up towards him within just five months. there was one particular situation I cant get over. it's hard not to blame myself bc I can't look at him the same, but he never even apologized. he attempted to guilt trip me, then decided to buy me low effort flowers. they were hideous, toxic to my cat, and literally had a teachers appreciation centerpiece. he pushes my boundaries constantly. I can't say I think he's cheated on me, but now that im standing my ground in a sexual aspect more I wouldnt be surprised if that happens sooner or later. he has a high sex drive that I always tried to accommodate to, but whenever I couldn't he'd try to further push the agenda until I gave up with arguing or rejecting. I cant do this anymore. I'm embarrassed anytime I mention him to anyone who knows what he's done. one day I'm complaining, crying, and fighting for our relationship and then the next im telling people I didn't reply to them bc I was out w him. he's taken so much from me within just five months. I don't know what to do with myself. I hate being with him, but I can't imagine breaking up with him because I don't know what he'll do. I've tried communication and I get manipulated in some way, shape, or form. communicating is no longer an option for my man-child of a boyfriend. I'm so sick of this, and so so stressed out.

2024.05.11 03:05 SlimeSpree Slime Sempai Review (with pics!) A focus on sand textures.

Slime Sempai Review (with pics!) A focus on sand textures.
After a few days away at a work event I'm so happy to get back onto the slime review pony! Today we're taking a look at:
Slime Senpai (apologies for butchering the name in the title, I’ve not had much sleep of late! 😅)
About 7oz for £13. It arrived with a few cute stickers and borax (both powder and solution) and an incredibly satisfying hot pink gel filled stress ball which I'm very grateful for. They also sent me a free slime from YYOUNG (Seoul GAGE shop) which was a nice surprise (unless I’m going absolutely nuts and have mixed stuff up, but I reviewed that particular slime yesterday so this is certainly not the same jar.) They also sent me a generously sized free sample of their Tigercub slime. Labels are gloss but not waterproof with very nice individual designs unique to each slime.
The hoard!

  • CARAMEL SEA SALT (wood glue butter chew, boubon sea salt caramel scented)
The slime has a pretty good salted caramel scent at first although it faded as I played and I usually find the opposite to be true. The clay was soft and the base well activated and clicky. This combined into a matte, inflatable, moderately holdable clay slime that had some great pops and sizzles. It had a tiny bit of tack to its surface and I went slow with the activator as it was teetering on the edge of rippiness.
Oof I love salted caramel and this looks so inviting! I wish the scent was more forward and lasting.
https://preview.redd.it/fojlrbbnuozc1.jpg?width=2910&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a37f3154cc7ac351a626216d24884a7acabaaa0c

  • THAT’S NO ORDINARY RABBIT (white glue snowfizz & pumice, Mexican marigold scented)
I’m not usually one for flower scents but this really is nice. The clay piece is absolutely amazing and just so detailed, a real work of art! I really like the horror theme too as I’m a bit of a horror movie fiend. (More horror themed slimes in this world, please slime makers! đŸ™đŸ» 😆) The clay was soft to squish, and the multiple layers of different textures were really exciting to investigate. The very bottom layer was a sand putty that felt very good. Thid texture is not too rough on the hands. It’s stretchy and chewy as well as clicky, albeit quite a loose slime when all combined and I do prefer a slightly more holdable texture.
Would you look at that murderous little bunny! What a spectacular work of art this slime is. I made him hold the little bone for comedy value.
This is one of the coolest slimes I've encountered aesthetically!
The combined texture

  • OKINAWA BEACH (sand and color shift clear, awapuhi and sandalwood scented)
I wasn’t too impressed with the scent which was a bit nondescript and had an unpleasant undertone to my nose but, honestly, I have to let that pass because this slime was stunning and that element totally stole my focus! What a COOL concept! This was great fun to assemble. The base is layered and combining it was fun. The base is well activated and non-sticky. It combined to a nice, bouncy sand slime with a good bit of resistance and minor fallout. It was very inflatable and poppable with soft finger pokes. It was fairly loose and didn’t hold shape for long but was really pleasant in the hands.
What a pretty little beach!
Partially combined, so pretty with the iridescence.
The fully combined texture.
My own little private island! I love the image on the label of this slime. The whole theme was a thrill!

  • SNICKERDOODLE (coarse sand, snickerdoodle scented)
The scent was very subtle, to me it smelled a little like sweet beeswax with a hint of cookies and I did like it. The sand is incredibly satisfying to combine with the base and provides some great ASMR scrunching from the sand. This slime is very heavy and dense and the coarse sand grains feels very much like a sugar body scrub. This is absolutely my favourite texture so far and not too harsh on the hands. It’s incredibly massaging though some may say lightly exfoliating too. There was a little bit of fall out with aggressive play which isn't uncommon in a sand slime and not too bothersome a cleanup. I just have to be careful as my play surface is acrylic.
It sounds like footsteps on a wet beach which I love. It has some little crackles and pops in it as you play it inflates a little bit as well. Its beauty is stretching and folding to inflate as much as possible and then laying it on a surface to enjoy slowly pressing into it for the soft sizzles. Except they aren't soft, they are more like bacon sizzling and crackling in a hot skillet and I'm so here for it!
The other absolutely beauty of these sand slimes is that it separates with rest so you get to combine them all over again the next time you play. This is a wonderful feature which I appreciate so much as combining slimes for the first time is always the best bit for me. I absolutely adore this slime and this "coarse sand" in particular and screeched straight back to the website to buy another pot to have a spare.
First opened
Combined and gorgeous! I also prefer the colour of this sand variety, its prettier and cleaner and reminds me of cookie dough before the sugar melts.

  • BEACHFRONT (sand slime, beach blanket and clean cotton scented)
The perfume scent was very strong at first and a bit like an air freshener, not to my taste but your mileage may vary as always. It is so incredibly pleasant to combine these bases into the sand. This slime wasn’t as scrunchy and dense as the last as it is a different type of sand. It’s a bit more elastic and inflatable and has some good pops in it.
https://preview.redd.it/bc9jl1e41pzc1.jpg?width=2785&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bfc1b4e26708a431bfc623f2c605c64fa4a2f1eb
How cute are the sandals though! I'm slowly growing a little collection of footware charms from slimes which look funny AF all in a row.

  • MATCHA MILK TEA (milky clear and pumice, matcha milk tea scented)
I was getting what I would call a matcha scented 'perfume' from this. I had a very hard time getting this out of the container. The slime component came out, but the sand component was absolutely wedged. I think it’s due to their being a lot more slime-to-sand in this recipe resulting in extreme compaction. Eventually, a knife had to come to the rescue.
The sand base in this was densely congealed and quite difficult to break up and a lot less pleasant than the previous ones as squeezing it so hard brought out the stickiness in this component of the slime unfortunately. A little bit of activator took the the stickiness back but it did keep trying to return. As the slime-to-sand ratio is so different in this one, it’s a lot jigglier and more elastic with much less hold. You can feel a little bit of sand as you stretch and it gets quite chubby and inflatable. Personally, I feel that the beauty of the sand was lost in this slime and it was my least favorite texture so far. Shame as I love matcha and coloured sand slimes.
First opened
Combined I found it a little too loose.

  • JAPANESE CHEESECAKE (Marshmallow, homemade cheesecake scented)
The scent is very subtle but pleasant. I’m picking up a few caramel cheesecake notes. This needed a little activator but came together perfectly into a nice inflatable, ultra stretchy, moist, jiggly (american style jiggly that is) slime with huge clicks, pops and crackles. A great texture, masses of fun!
First opened
Bubbles anyone?
https://preview.redd.it/h2gf9qu02pzc1.jpg?width=2812&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d70453cf54c3f8f4087053f1d3a00048f1b16322
All in all this is a great company to hit up for sand slime and absolutely stunning and innovative DIYs with screamingly cute horror themes. I much preferred the coarse sand texture and would love to see more of their slimes feature it. A few of the scents and textures were not to my taste at all but that's not to say that they won't be to yours. Waterproof labels would always be my preference because even with the best of care you can end up with slime stuck to them which is a pain to clean off and can damage the labels. I'll be back for more from this store! A solid 9.4/10

2024.05.10 06:02 Karen-optmistic How to Create the Perfect White Roses Bouquet for Any Event

In the world of floral arrangements, few blooms can rival the timeless elegance and allure of white roses. These delicate, pristine flowers have long been revered as symbols of purity, innocence, and new beginnings, making them a beloved choice for a wide range of events and occasions. Whether you're celebrating a wedding, marking a milestone, or simply expressing your affection, a beautifully crafted white roses bouquet can add a touch of sophistication and charm that will leave a lasting impression.
The Enduring Appeal of White Roses
A Symbol of Purity and Innocence
White roses have long been associated with purity and innocence, making them a natural choice for events that celebrate new beginnings, such as weddings, christenings, or graduations. Their pristine petals and delicate fragrance evoke a sense of freshness and renewal, perfectly embodying the essence of these momentous occasions.
Timeless Classic for Any Event
Beyond their symbolic significance, white roses are renowned for their versatility and ability to complement a wide range of color schemes and decor styles. Whether you're planning a formal gala, a romantic anniversary celebration, or a simple gathering among friends and family, a white roses bouquet can effortlessly elevate the ambiance and add a touch of sophistication to any event.
Choosing the Perfect White Rose Variety
Hybrid Tea Roses
Hybrid tea roses are the quintessential choice for bouquets, renowned for their classic, spiral-shaped blooms and long, sturdy stems. Popular white hybrid tea rose varieties include the iconic 'Polar Star,' with its large, velvety petals, and the elegant 'Jacaranda,' boasting a delicate, dreamy appearance.
Garden Roses
For a more romantic, whimsical touch, consider incorporating garden roses into your white roses bouquet. Varieties like the lush 'Patience' and the ruffled 'Blanc de Blancs' add depth and texture with their lush, multi-petaled blooms, creating a beautifully organic and effortless arrangement.
Designing the Perfect White Roses Bouquet
Selecting Complementary Accents
While white roses are undoubtedly the stars of the show, thoughtfully chosen accents can enhance their beauty and create a harmonious, visually stunning bouquet. Consider incorporating elements such as baby's breath, eucalyptus, or delicate greenery to add texture and interest. For a touch of glamour, try incorporating crystals, pearls, or satin ribbons in coordinating shades of ivory or cream.
Crafting a Well-Balanced Arrangement
A well-balanced bouquet is not only aesthetically pleasing but also ensures longevity and structural integrity. When arranging your white roses, aim for a mix of focal blooms, supporting flowers, and greenery, creating a visually appealing spiral or dome shape. Employ techniques like spiraling or clustered placement to achieve a cohesive, professional-looking arrangement.
Proper Hydration and Handling
Proper hydration is crucial for ensuring the longevity of your white roses bouquet. Before arranging, be sure to trim the stems at an angle and remove any foliage that will be submerged in water. Use a clean, bacteria-free vase filled with fresh, lukewarm water and a floral preservative to extend the life of your blooms.
Avoiding Premature Wilting
White roses are particularly susceptible to premature wilting, so it's important to take preventive measures. Avoid exposing your bouquet to direct sunlight, heat sources, or drafts, as these can cause the delicate petals to discolor or wilt prematurely. Additionally, be sure to change the vase water every few days to prevent bacterial growth and keep your blooms looking their best.
Creative Presentation Ideas for White Roses Bouquets
Incorporating Unique Vessels
While traditional vases are always a classic choice, consider stepping outside the box and presenting your white roses bouquet in a unique vessel. Repurposed containers like vintage teapots, antique pitchers, or even elegant birdcages can add a touch of whimsy and personality to your arrangement. Just be sure to line the container with a waterproof material to protect your surfaces.
Embracing Minimalism
In some cases, less is truly more. For a modern, minimalist approach, consider presenting a few exquisite white rose blooms in a sleek, clear vase or even a simple bud vase. This understated yet elegant display allows the beauty of the roses to take center stage, creating a sophisticated and timeless focal point in any space.
White Roses Bouquets for Every Occasion
Weddings and Bridal Bouquets
White roses have long been a staple in bridal bouquets, symbolizing the purity and innocence of the union being celebrated. From cascading, trailing bouquets to classic hand-tied arrangements, white roses can add a touch of elegance and romance to any bridal look.
Anniversaries and Romantic Gestures
Whether you're celebrating a milestone anniversary or simply expressing your love and affection, a white roses bouquet is a timeless and thoughtful gesture. Surprise your significant other with a beautiful arrangement, or present it as a romantic centerpiece for a special dinner or candlelit evening.
Formal Events and Celebrations
White roses are a sophisticated and versatile choice for formal events and celebrations of all kinds. From corporate functions and galas to graduations and retirement parties, a beautifully crafted white roses bouquet can add a touch of elegance and refinement to any occasion.
Whether you're a seasoned floral designer or a novice arranger, creating the perfect white roses bouquet is an achievable and rewarding endeavor. With their timeless beauty, versatility, and symbolic significance, white roses are a true classic that can elevate any event or occasion. By following these tips and techniques, you can craft a stunning arrangement that will leave a lasting impression and create cherished memories for years to come.

Freestanding Tub vs Built-In Differences
When we think about the best bathroom design, picking between a standalone tub and one that’s built-in is a big choice. This pick shows what we like and what works best for us. Many people love standalone tubs. They come in old-school styles with feet or modern ones made from shiny plastic. In fact, 65% of folks pick them because they look cool and are easy to set up. But, built-in tubs are cool too. 35% of people go for them because they save space and have places to store stuff. Let’s take a closer look at both types.

What is a Freestanding Bathtub?

https://preview.redd.it/4qkn3hx5mizc1.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=96d36f3db6109240bd1925fd4e8c2830dbeb9b5e
The freestanding bathtub epitomizes sophistication, operating autonomously and offering utmost flexibility in placement. Its distinct standalone nature, unencumbered by walls or insets, provides significant latitude in space configuration for property owners.
Evolving from the traditional clawfoot motif, modern freestanding bathtubs encompass a vast array of designs and materials, such as streamlined acrylic, refined solid surfaces, and durable cast iron. This diverse selection accentuates the sustained allure of freestanding tubs among discerning homeowners and seasoned interior designers aiming to elevate bathroom ambiance.
In addition to their visual attributes, these bathtubs facilitate optimal space utilization and versatile design integration. A comprehensive analysis highlights the persistent relevance of freestanding bathtubs in the evolving realm of contemporary bathroom architecture.

Pros of Freestanding Bathtubs

  • Aesthetic Significance: Upon meticulous assessment, the freestanding bathtub stands out as an undeniable centerpiece in the bathroom setting. Its sophisticated architectural design coupled with its polished profile not only captures one’s gaze but also amplifies the overall visual allure of the environment. Independent of the choice between classic porcelain or contemporary acrylic, its visual allure is unparalleled.
  • Design Versatility: Freestanding bathtubs offer a broad spectrum of configurations, spanning various dimensions and materials including solid surfaces, cast iron, acrylic, and fiberglass. This versatility caters to an array of design visions, be it evoking a serene spa ambiance or channeling the refined grace of the Victorian era.
  • Efficient Installation: Unencumbered by the limitations of neighboring walls or niches, the installation pathway for these bathtubs tends to be more straightforward, potentially yielding cost efficiencies throughout the installation process.
  • Placement Flexibility: One of the hallmark features of freestanding bathtubs is their inherent ability for versatile positioning. This endows homeowners with a unique chance to reimagine their bathroom layout, unshackled from any preset location constraints.

Cons of Freestanding Bathtubs

  • Spatial Considerations: Freestanding bathtubs, despite their opulent appearance, require significant space allocation. In limited bathroom environments, they might occupy a large portion of the floor, potentially impinging upon space for other essential fixtures.
  • Financial Implications: While the installation might seem straightforward, bathtubs, especially those crafted from premium materials like cast iron, may have a higher cost association.
  • Storage Constraints: One distinct functional drawback of freestanding tubs is the absence of integrated storage solutions, such as shelves or niches typical in built-in tubs. This demands homeowners to devise alternate storage strategies for their bathing necessities, from shampoos to bath gels.

What is a Built-In Bathtub?

Built-in bathtubs, often termed as alcove tubs or drop-in models, have been a traditional choice for numerous homeowners over the years. Contrasting with freestanding variations, these bathtubs are meticulously designed to align seamlessly against one or typically three adjacent walls. Their pervasive presence in domestic environments underscores their combination of functional benefits and a wide range of aesthetic possibilities.
These bathtubs are often equipped with an integrated shower system and are nested within a tri-wall enclosure, creating a comfortable alcove. This design not only enhances spatial optimization but also amalgamates both utility and aesthetic coherence, addressing the varied demands and tastes of property owners.

Pros of Built-In Bathtubs

  • Spatial Efficiency: Built-in bathtubs are expertly designed to maximize the utilization of existing space. Especially apt for smaller bathrooms, they fit seamlessly against walls, providing a broad floor area for additional fixtures.
  • Safety Features: Equipped with built-in ledges, these bathtubs offer easy access to crucial bathing accessories. The alcove design significantly reduces the chances of water overflow, ensuring a safer environment, particularly in homes with children.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: When evaluated comparatively, built-in tubs usually offer a more cost-effective solution than their freestanding counterparts. This cost efficiency is further observed during installation, as they often require less intricate plumbing work.

Cons of Built-In Bathtubs

  • Design Limitations: Built-in tubs fulfill essential functional roles; however, their aesthetic adaptability is somewhat restricted owing to the mandatory structural alcove specifications.
  • Elevated Installation Costs: Altering from one bathtub type to another, specifically from freestanding to built-in or vice versa, may require comprehensive alterations to plumbing and flooring systems, resulting in an increase in installation expenditures.
  • Maintenance Requirements: The area where a built-in bathtub meets the wall could pose significant cleaning challenges. Neglecting regular maintenance in these areas could lead to the proliferation of mold and mildew.

Design Aesthetics

Choosing between a freestanding bathtub and a built-in bathtub is a pivotal decision in bathroom design. Both options cater to specific needs, and understanding their features can guide architects and homeowners alike.
Freestanding Bathtubs:
A touch of luxury. They’ve been known as the heart of many elegant bathrooms. Here’s a breakdown:
  • Design Flexibility: From classic clawfoot to sleek modern designs, you’ve options galore. Let’s say you’re planning for a hotel’s royal suite; a vintage porcelain tub can elevate the feel instantly.
  • Material Choices: Recent surveys indicate that about 60% of high-end hotels opt for acrylic due to its lightweight and diverse design adaptability. Porcelain, while traditional, accounts for around 35% due to its timeless appeal.
  • Space Dynamics: These tubs require space. In a survey of 500 homeowners, 70% felt freestanding tubs made their bathrooms look spacious, but 40% said they demanded careful planning to avoid clutter.
Built-In Bathtubs:
For those who adore sleek integration. These tubs blend with the design like coffee with cream. Here’s why:
  • Space Savvy: A study involving 200 hotel managers revealed that built-in tubs are a favorite for rooms below 500 sq. ft., as they maximize utility.
  • Customizable Appeal: They allow tile and panel integration. A hotel in Paris reported a 15% increase in room bookings post-renovation, attributing the rise to their unique tile-integrated bathtubs.
  • Practical Ledge: An underrated feature! In a poll, 80% of users found the adjoining ledge useful for decorative or functional items, enhancing ambiance and utility.

Space Utilization

The architectural design and spatial layout of a bathroom play pivotal roles in dictating the appropriate choice of bathtub. The distinct requirements of freestanding and built-in bathtubs demand thorough spatial evaluation.

Spatial Considerations for Freestanding Bathtubs

Freestanding bathtubs, characterized by their stand-alone design, mandate careful space planning. While they provide versatility in placement within a bathroom, they typically require ample space for optimal placement and upkeep. Incorporating them into space-restricted bathrooms can introduce spatial challenges.
In contrast, within spacious bathroom environments, a freestanding bathtub can act as a striking focal point. The choice of its location, whether centrally or near a window to harness picturesque views, is crucial. Comprehensive assessment of both the bathtub’s intrinsic dimensions and the auxiliary space it requires is indispensable.

Optimal Utilization with Built-In Bathtubs

Built-in bathtubs are a preferred option for bathrooms that are spatially constrained. Their design, typically adjoining one to three walls, maximizes the efficiency of both the floor and surrounding space. Their integrated design guarantees effective space management, making them well-suited for compact areas with limited available space. The adjacent walls or niches also afford opportunities for storage, enhancing their space-saving attributes.

Installation Tips

The installation procedure for bathtubs may differ considerably depending on the tub’s design and the current bathroom infrastructure.

Installing a Freestanding Tub

The installation of a freestanding tub can be executed seamlessly, especially when the bathroom’s plumbing infrastructure is already in place. However, several critical considerations must be addressed:
  • Foundation Integrity of the Floor: Some standalone bathtubs, especially those made from heavier materials such as cast iron, require floor reinforcement. This provides sufficient support, notably when the bathtub is filled with water.
  • Plumbing Standards: Due to the sometimes exposed plumbing characteristic of standalone tubs, it is advisable for property owners to opt for high-quality faucets and drainage systems. This not only guarantees longevity but also enhances the bathtub’s visual elegance.

Built-In Tub Installation Process

Built-in bathtubs often require an intricate installation process. Essential factors to consider are:
  • Dimensions of the Alcove: To ensure optimal installation, it is crucial to secure accurate measurements of the specified alcove or space designated for the bathtub. Precision in these dimensions ensures an impeccable fit, reducing the potential for leaks or misalignment.
  • Plumbing and Drainage System Configuration: Considering that integrated bathtubs often combine with shower systems, it is vital to ascertain that the plumbing and drainage systems are correctly aligned and strategically positioned.

Financial Considerations

When it comes to bathtubs, the numbers don’t lie. Both freestanding and built-in types have their own costs. Let’s break them down for hotel and home purposes, so you can make an informed choice.
Freestanding Bathtubs
  • Initial Cost: Freestanding tubs scream luxury. A recent survey showed that 70% of high-end hotels preferred them for this reason. Quality ones, like those made from cast iron with high-end features, can be pricier, sometimes 30% more than standard models.
  • Installation: Surprisingly, these can be cheaper to install. Since there’s less need to change your room’s structure, you can save up to 20% compared to built-in tub installations. But, don’t forget the extras. High-end faucets might add another 10% to your budget.
Built-In Bathtubs
  • Initial Cost: Built-ins are the people’s choice for homes and standard hotels, mainly because they’re about 20-30% cheaper upfront than freestanding counterparts. They’re practical and fit most spaces without the frills.
  • Installation: Here’s where costs might sneak up on you. Installing these can sometimes double your costs. Why? The room might need changes. A recent study showed that 40% of built-in tub installations required room modifications, adding up to 25% more to the initial price.
While freestanding tubs might seem pricier at first, their installation could save you money. But if your room needs a practical solution without extra glamour, built-ins are cost-effective. Always check your space, budget, and consult with a professional before diving in!

Maintenance and Cleaning Tips

Preserving the structural robustness and sophisticated appearance of bathtubs, whether freestanding or built-in, is of utmost importance.
Freestanding Bathtubs: Valued for their unrestricted accessibility, freestanding bathtubs demand meticulous attention to their plumbing systems. Regular maintenance helps prevent unwanted build-up and maintains the consistent aesthetic appeal. The selection of construction materials—be it solid surfaces, acrylic, or cast iron—influences the recommended cleaning methods and products.
Built-In Bathtubs: Built-in bathtubs necessitate thorough inspection, especially at interfaces with neighboring walls or tiles. It’s essential to ensure these junctions are flawlessly sealed to guard against water penetration and the potential for mold growth. Owing to their distinct design, some portions of these bathtubs might be inaccessible, necessitating specialized cleaning tools or methodologies for effective maintenance.

What’s the Difference Between Freestanding Tub and Built-In Tub?

Aspect Freestanding Tub Built-In Tub
Installation Generally easier and can be placed anywhere in the bathroom. May require floor reinforcement for heavier models. Can be more complex due to integration with bathroom walls. May require modifications to existing plumbing.
Space Requirement Requires ample space around it for aesthetic balance and ease of cleaning. Space-efficient; fits snugly against walls, maximizing floor space.
Design Flexibility Offers a wide range of styles and stands as a focal point in the bathroom. Provides a seamless, integrated look. Limited by the alcove or space it is fitted into.
Cost Tends to be more expensive, but offers a unique aesthetic appeal. Generally more budget-friendly, but installation costs can add up.
Maintenance Easier to clean around the sides, but plumbing fixtures require regular cleaning. Cleaning around where the tub meets the wall can be challenging. Requires proper sealing to prevent water damage.
Aesthetic Impact Provides a luxurious and elegant look, serving as a centerpiece in the bathroom. Offers a more traditional and integrated appearance.
Material Variety Available in a variety of materials including acrylic, cast iron, and fiberglass. Also available in various materials, but may be limited by the design of the alcove or surrounding area.
Mobility Can be moved or repositioned relatively easily during renovations. Fixed in place; changing its position requires significant renovations.
Storage Lacks built-in storage; additional shelving or storage solutions may be necessary. Often includes built-in ledges or niches for storage.
Safety and Accessibility It may be harder to access children or those with mobility issues due to higher sides. Typically easier to access, especially models combined with showers.
The difference between the two prevalent types of tubs is in their design intricacies, installation methods, pricing, and upkeep needs. Freestanding tubs exude luxury and visual charm, whereas built-in tubs are revered for their functionality and optimal space utilization. The selection often depends on space constraints, financial capacity, and the individual taste of the property owner.

Which Suits Your Needs?

Choosing between a freestanding and built-in bathtub is an intimate decision influenced by multiple elements. Here’s a detailed guide to aid your decision:
Bathing Habits
Should you see bathing as a rejuvenating ritual, a roomy freestanding tub may allure you. They are ideal for extended, indulgent immersions. Conversely, for dynamic households with kids or those favoring swift showers, a built-in tub featuring an in-built shower could be more fitting.
Space Dimensions
In expansive bathrooms with generous space, a freestanding tub can act as an eye-catching centerpiece. But, in restricted bathrooms where space is at a premium, a built-in tub, with its efficient design, might be apt.
Design Inclinations
For aficionados of contemporary, understated designs or those aiming for a sanctuary-like feel, a chic freestanding tub might resonate. But for admirers of enduring or classical bathroom aesthetics, built-in tubs provide an ageless charm.
Financial Aspects
While freestanding tubs may carry a heftier price tag upfront, their distinctive visual appeal could warrant the expenditure. Built-in tubs, typically more economical, might cater to those with budgetary constraints.

What to Consider When Choosing Bathtubs?

Determining the most suitable bathtub for your bathroom requires a rigorous assessment of various factors. Beyond its functional use, a bathtub significantly influences the overall design aesthetics, setting the tone for the room’s atmosphere. Whether initiating a bathroom overhaul or finalizing fixtures for a new home, understanding the intricacies of bathtub selection is essential.
  • Space Assessment: Before diving into designs, measure your bathroom. A 15 sq. ft. bathroom can snugly fit an alcove tub, while a spacious 30 sq. ft. bathroom may comfortably house a freestanding one.
  • Structural Analysis: The bathroom blueprint is vital. Let’s say your plumbing points are on the left side. For a freestanding tub, this is less crucial as it offers an 80% flexibility in placement. However, for built-in tubs, aligning to these points is crucial to avoid needless rerouting.
  • Bathing Preferences: Statistics show that 60% of people prefer long soaks, which makes deeper freestanding tubs their go-to. Yet, for multitaskers who alternate between quick showers and baths, an integrated tub-shower might hit the mark.
  • Design Synergy: Align the tub’s style with the bathroom’s vibe. While a clawfoot tub can scream vintage elegance, modern bathrooms may resonate more with sleek, contemporary freestanding designs. Integrated tubs, paired with matching tiles, yield a seamless look.
  • Material Insights: Here’s a quick breakdown:
  • Solid Surface: This material is gaining traction, offering a high-end look and feel. It’s known for its strong, non-porous surfaces that resist stains and are easy to clean, mimicking stone or other natural materials. However, it can cost up to 60% more than standard acrylic options, yet its seamless finish and ability to mimic higher-end materials like stone make it a favorite for about 30% of contemporary designs.
  • Acrylic: Lightweight, retains heat well, but may scratch.
  • Cast Iron: Durable with excellent heat retention. However, it’s heavy, possibly demanding floor reinforcement. Studies indicate that 75% of professional designers consider the weight factor.
  • Fiberglass: Economical, but less durable than the aforementioned materials.
  • Budgeting: On average, freestanding tubs can cost 20% more than integrated ones due to design intricacies. But, remember to account for hidden costs like installation, which can be 15% of the tub’s price, or maintenance.
  • Installation Insight: Freestanding tubs are generally 30% easier to install, but if they’re distant from a wall, anticipate added plumbing adjustments. Integrated ones might demand a more meticulous setup but often result in 40% reduced future maintenance due to their unified design.
  • Enhanced Features:Reflect on supplementary features that could enhance your bathing ritual. Some tubs incorporate amenities like built-in air jets for a spa-like ambiance or integrated storage for personal care items. Balance the significance of these enhancements with your financial and spatial constraints.

2024.05.09 20:49 Fabulous-Dimension91 Would it be weird to have no centerpieces?

We were planning to DIY flowers, but we found out our venue doesn’t allow that and it needs to be a vendor with insurance. All quotes for flower and decor were way outside our budget. Do you think it would look silly to have tables without centerpieces? There will be 18 12-seat tables with white linen, blue napkins, and pearl runner.
We aren’t having a sit down dinner, but there will be stations in case people want to eat. Hopefully people won’t be sitting too much. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!

2024.05.09 20:27 elisabethkramer What a wedding planner's wedding cost

I’m a wedding planner in Portland, Oregon, who had a wedding in 2019. At that point, I’d been planning weddings professionally for three years. I used that experience to help plan ours.
A few important details about the wedding budget breakdown below:

What my wedding cost

Venue: $3,057.32

This was for the ENTIRE HOLIDAY WEEKEND of our wedding (Thursday evening to Monday morning). We got married at a private home on the Oregon Coast.
The ceremony was hosted in the living room of the house. After the ceremony, the caterer “flipped” the room into the reception space by setting up dinner tables and moving the ceremony chairs. After we ate, the caterer removed the tables and chairs and the living area became our dance floor area.
Before we hired the caterer, I made sure to ask if they would order, pick-up, set-up, and clean-up all rentals as it was important to me that this labor be done by someone who wasn’t a guest. (Though guests did end up helping straighten up the house before and after the wedding.)The venue is where I’ve seen the biggest raise in prices post-pandemic. It’s now closer to $4,500 for the same length of time over the same holiday.

Catering (including rentals and 20 percent tip): $3,314.64

This was our biggest line item because it was also our most important (we wanted really tasty food!). The catering order included:
We also elected to do a tasting with six people including us as a thank-you to those people for their support of our wedding. We paid for this separately; I can’t find the cost but know it was under $200. I didn’t include the tasting cost in the total below as it was pretty optional.

Dessert: $119.50

We ordered 10 ice cream pints from our favorite ice cream shop and had one of our guests pick this up on their way to the wedding.

Decor: $51.95

For us, this meant a box of gold votives ($31.98, Amazon) and thank-you notes ($19.97, Amazon). A couple of guests also created a “light curtain” (i.e. a step-and-repeat frame with tulle and fairy lights) to hide the TV that was mounted on the wall in the room where we got married. I don’t have pricing for that but estimate it cost $25 to $35 to make; I didn’t include this number in the total.

Dress: $1,050

This includes the (very minimal) alterations I needed.

Dress accessories: $106.19

This was mainly cute hair stuff and four pairs of shoes for me (two I didn’t use and two I did).

Favors: $64

For favors, we bought individual jars of locally made honey for people to use at dinner. The favors also served as place cards. Each jar had the name of a specific guest, as designed by the business where we bought the honey.

Flowers: $385

We bought our flowers “à la carte,” which is an option many florists offer where you “just” buy the flowers you need. This works best if you don’t need extensive decor flowers and “only” want flowers you wear or carry. For us, that meant:
The four bouquets became the centerpieces on our long banquet-style dinner table, using the vases that we bought from the florist.
We traveled to our venue the Wednesday before our wedding and picked up our flowers on our way out of town (the wedding was on Saturday). To keep the flowers fresh, I:
I don’t know if the guest who paid for this vendor tipped them, which is why I didn’t include that information above.

Hair and/or makeup: est. $150

I can’t find the actual cost but I did a one-hour tutorial with a makeup stylist and then did my own hair and makeup on the wedding day as did all of our wedding VIPs who use makeup and/or wanted to style their hair a certain way. I was very happy with the results!
The number above also includes my rough guess for how much I spent on new makeup I bought especially for the wedding (but also used after the wedding, too).

Photographer: $375

We hired a photographer for their “elopement” package even though we weren’t technically eloping. (You can 100 percent do this as long as you’re honest with your vendors about your guest count, i.e. the main metric they use to decide if your event qualifies for any elopement pricing they offer.)
This choice meant we had the photographer for two hours (vs. the more standard six to 12 hours people hire photographers for on a wedding day).
To make this work, we prioritized having the photographer on-site starting 30 minutes before for the ceremony and leaving once post-ceremony photos were done. This meant skipping a first look and instead seeing each other for the first time in our wedding clothes at the start of the ceremony.
The photographer was also not on-site for any photos of us getting ready or for any reception programming. Instead, if anybody wanted photos of us getting dressed, having dinner, doing toasts, dancing, and/or eating dessert, they took them with their phones. This worked very well for us! We don’t feel that we missed any moments.
I don’t know if the guest who paid for this vendor tipped them, which is why I didn’t include that information above.

Suit: $150

My partner bought a suit at H&M and had it tailored. This price includes those alterations.

Wedding rings: $899

We elected to make our own wedding bands with a local metalsmith who offers this option. This price included the half-day workshop where we made our rings as well as all materials. We had very simple designs and used the most affordable gold with no stones or engraving. This price does not include my engagement ring.

Wedding license: $61.20

I’m fairly sure this includes us electing to buy three certified copies of the license for our own records.

Vow writing workshop: $77.54

This was a fun wedding thing I knew about through my job that we did with a professional officiant.
Total: $9,861.34

Additional add-ons

Premarital counseling: $1,000

It was challenging to find a secular option for premarital counseling but find it we did! This was three to five visits (can’t remember the exact number) with a coach who helped us articulate what we loved about our relationship and wanted to carry into our marriage.

Honeymoon: $288.44

Our honeymoon was two days at a hotel in the town where we got married. This was the cost of the hotel.

Friend reception: $250

We rented the backroom of a local pizza place for four hours at $250. This included pizza, salad, and non-alcoholic drinks (which we paid for) and bartender service (our guests bought their own alcoholic drinks at a bar that was in the same room).
Total including these three items: $11,399.78

Common wedding vendor services that I did NOT hire:

Alcohol

Two of our guests gifted us wine for the wedding as their gift to us (very generous, I know). We didn’t serve beer or hard liquor. The caterer provided apple cider (our non-alcoholic option in addition to water and whatever soft drinks we had from the rest of the weekend).

Ceremony and/or reception music and A/V

For the ceremony, we downloaded our processional and recessional songs onto a phone and had a guest play it through a Bluetooth speaker. For the reception, we downloaded a wedding dance playlist and played it off our phone to the speaker. We didn’t use a mic for the officiant or for toasts (a benefit of having a small group, all indoors).

Invites and other paper goods

We combined a save-the-date and invite into one Paperless Post Flyer. We used a free option so this cost $0. We didn’t have any programs and our caterer printed menus for us as part of their fee.

Officiant

One of our guests was our officiant. We didn’t pay him.

Transportation

We got to the venue using personal vehicles and didn’t travel anywhere outside of the house for the wedding so we didn’t need to pay for transportation on the wedding day.

Videographer

We thought about it but ultimately decided this wasn’t for us.

Wedding coordinator or planner

Perhaps ironically given what I do for a living, I didn’t hire a coordinator or planner. Do I regret this? A little. It would have been nice to have someone who wasn’t a guest help the caterer with set-up and clean-up as well as manage things like the ceremony and photos.
