2024.05.16 04:44 Sea-Confection-8820 Custom Bag Review - 9 pockets!

Custom Bag Review - 9 pockets!
Earlier this year, I found a bag I absolutely fell in love with - the PacSafe Cruise Crossbody. I originally purchased it for travel since this brand specializes in anti-theft bags but I was blown away by how amazingly organized it was. It has 4 outer pockets and 7 inner ones (8, if you count the pen pocket)! But as an anti-theft brand, the style was lacking and it only came in nylon.
So the solution I arrived at was to have u/RaptureofSenses recreate this bag in luxurious lambskin and suede and add on some touches the PacSafe lacked (outer keyring for a charm and shorter strap to hang my bag). u/RaptureofSenses was wonderful to work with and extremely patient as I described my bag (first time getting a custom bag done). I recall a thread that asked what luxury means to you; for me, luxury means getting exactly what you want.
My shortlist of must-haves:
  • An easy exterior phone pocket
  • Plenty of interior organization (not needing to buy an internal organizer to make the bag work for you)
  • Crossbody strap and a shorter strap/handle to hang my bag on things (shout out to the Clippa2 bag hook again)
  • And of course, amazing materials (this is the softest suede I’ve ever felt) but structured enough to stand on its own when filled with (it fits an iPad!).
I will definitely be commissioning more in the future - she did an amazing job merging practicality with luxury. I would have never discovered this was an option if it weren't for this sub, so thank you to all the previous reviewers!
Edit: Noticed I'm having trouble uploading the images :( Let me try to figure that out...

2024.05.16 04:43 BalancedDietitian Being audited by our state DOH for the first time. Help!

I work for an HIV clinic in the state of PA. The PA DOH is coming for our annual audit. However, I’m extremely nervous because my position is new and I’ve started a completely new program within our HIV agency. They will be reviewing my notes, government/grant money spent, policies, procedures, and probably talking to me and asking me questions about my program. I’m nervous. Please send kind words or advice.

2024.05.16 04:43 zqfx Should I leave my job?

I've been working at this little restaurant in a small municipal airport for a year or so and I just don't know if I should stay or not.
The people who work there, other than me(19M) are all 2 or 3 times my age, from 40 all the way to 60's and in between. We are understaffed and all work 6 days a week, and there are usually only 5 or 6 (if that)people working at once and it gets stressful having to do multiple peoples' jobs.
We're next to a park(that was built 7 years on from the inception of the restaurant) and the lady who works the register always complains to the "good customers" about the "bad customers", who she represents as "entitled parents who let their kids run wild in the dining room and trash it, then leave bad reviews". I always get praised for kindness and my attitude in said reviews but I always see the lady in the front being called out for being rude.
I get paid $13/hr for what I do, though I wanna move out of my parents' house and I just don't know if it's feasible nor even worth it mentally to work at this place anymore when. Though I work 6 days a week, it's usually only 5 hour shifts MAX.
I asked to be put on nights(they're only open for nights two days a week lmao) so I could get more hours and this happened for like a week or two and then they started hiring new people and I asked "why am I being taken off night" and the manager said "We're training new people right now" and that was the end of it.
The amount of drama in this place is pretty bad, like every restaurant I suppose, but there's so much infighting and it feels like the whole "We're a family and we love each other through thick and thin" charade they put up is just null and void. Everybody is talking about quitting
What do reddit, I love working here because of the customers and the uniqueness of the location but I'm unsure of what to do

2024.05.16 04:40 tirzbeau Week-In Review: SlimDown Rx

Week-In Review: SlimDown Rx
Alright it’s going on my second week with SlimDown Rx and I’m frequently asked about the medication so far so here’s a rundown of FAQ.
  • Any side effects? None thankfully.
  • Are you losing weight? Yes.
  • How much? I’ve lost about 6lbs that week.
  • Is it effective? Yes, it has the same active ingredient as branded and other compounds. It’s just as effective as the rest..just cheaper! Yay!
  • How long have you been using the meds? This is my second soon to be third week.
  • Did you grow a third arm? Sadly no.
  • Am I being compensated? Sadly no.
PRICE INCREASE ?!?!? THEY’RE SCAM?!?! Yes, SlimDown Rx has increased their prices. When I made my original review a week ago, SlimDown was still a relatively small company but then there was a surge of new customers. In order to efficiently supply their demand, new doctors were hired which is what led to a $20+ price increase. Along with their new staff members, I read upgraded shipping to be a new feature that contributed to their price increase as well. I can understand the disappointment, but I can also understand that they’re still a growing company. On a good note, if you made an appointment prior to 05/26/24 their original prices will be honored for your order.
  • Packaging? Can I see a photo? Sure. It should be at the top, but I’m old I forget how this works.
  • Is that styrofoam? Yes, it’s for protection.
  • What’s in that green bag? Syringes and alcohol pads.
  • Um, what’s that blue bottle? Your vial is placed in there. (I love it)
Feel free to ask me any other questions about the tirzepatide or packaging.

2024.05.16 04:36 JustMe39908 Asked to fix issues related to an improper write-up

I was given an official write-up 6 months ago. The problem with the write-up is that the actions I was written up for occurred before I was in my current job. The actions were specifically related to my current job. I provided evidence (including the documents signed by others) and "inconvenient" facts like the dates of the agreements and the date of my transfer. Asshole Leadership didn't care. They needed a scapegoat. I was convenient. They slapped me on the wrist. Honestly, questioning my actions was more painful.
I am now being asked by leadership to help "fix" the problem. Basically, it would take me less than two days to complete the task whereas it would take leadership more than two weeks. The person fixing the problem is different from the assholes who gave me the write-up. My sources tell me that this person thought writing me up was absurd and incorrect.
One part of me wants to say screw you. Another, more logical part of me thinks I should just do it because it would reflect positively on me and if the Leadership asshole group ever tried to bring the issue up again, I am insulated because I was asked to help solve the problem. To be clear, I am just to provide the documentation to be reviewed and signed by others. But, I also was screwed before.
Leaving is not a near term option. There is a big bonus to stay for 18 months. They know I have a retaliation case if they try to get rid of me. My last performance review was not completed, so HR would have a fit for not following process. The one before that was excellent. The one before that is again missing. All others are excellent. They can't show a performance pattern (a big issue to our HR folks -- a few years ago another employee, who rightfully should have been fired, won a lawsuit against the company because of poor documentation of poor performance), So, getting rid of me would be difficult as long as I am not stupid.
So, should I help?

2024.05.16 04:34 Substantialmajestic Suspicious Circumstance

A police officer received a call to help another officer, who he had known for many years. The call was designated as "suspicious circumstance."
The call was from a son who said that when he went to check on his mom at her old farmhouse, he had heard noises from downstairs in the basement.
It took the officer about 15 minutes to get out to this old farmhouse outside of town. It was yellow stucco and very old. He could see the old knob and tubing wiring on the outside of the house.
There is an upset old woman on the porch, the mom, and then a younger adult male standing next to her, the son, and then his fellow police officer standing next to them.
He goes up to them and gets all the information. When the son got to his mom's farmhouse to check on his mom, while he was talking to his mom on the main floor, he heard a noise in the basement like something being dropped. He dismissed it as perhaps an animal.
However, then there were more noises of things moving around and then he also started hearing voices.
The son said he thinks maybe someone is living down there taking advantage of his mom. He says the basement is unlivable as it has a dirt floor and no electricity.
The mom is upset. She said she didn't want the son to go down in the basement. And now, the mom didn't want the police officers to go down in the basement either.
So, he asks her why she doesn't want them to go down there. She says, "Because the others are down there."
And he asks her what she means by that. She says "The others were here long before me and they will be here long after me."
He says he understands but that they need to go check the basement. The mom says nicely "You are both good boys. Don't go down there."
Meanwhile, the officer sees that the fellow officer has a very scared look on his face. This fellow police officer has helped the police officer who is calling into the show many many times. The intuition from him has saved both of them in many situations. So, this guy trusts him a lot. He pulls him to the side and says "What's going on here?" The fellow police officer says "There is a very dark fog around this house."
The two police officers decide to go clear the basement with their weapons drawn. They let dispatch know they are going to clear the basement and then they make their way into the old house.
They go through the front door and enter an entryway. There is a kitchen to the left. There are two double doors to a living room on the right. They go through the kitchen and then through a small hallway towards the garage where there are steps down to the basement.
They open the basement door and start going down the steps. The steps are very steep and narrow like steps on a boat. There is no electricity downstairs. He only has the light on his gun. He said every single inch of his exposed skin felt like it was under assault from a thickness in the air.
They get downstairs and to the left are a bunch of old boilers. First a wood fire one, then an oil fire one, and then an updated furnace. To the left are steep stairs that go back outside through a bulkhead entrance (like the wizard of oz -- those basement doors that are flat in the ground).
And, in between the boilers and that bulkhead stair is a door to a back room inside the basement. And they focus on opening up that door.
The fellow officer opens the door and he goes inside. The room is filled with old wooden items and some boxes. There is nothing for anyone to hide behind. In the center of the room near the back is an old rocking horse. The white paint has been chipping and the hair on the horse has faded severely.
They both stand there looking at the rocking horse. He says he was drawn to the rocking horse in a very weird way.
Then he hears his radio as dispatch is calling. Dispatch says "Security check" as in "Are you guys ok?" He answers back that they are ok and dispatch says "What is taking you so long." He thinks this is very odd since usually dispatch does not interrupt you when you are clearing a house like that as they know you are highly focused.
He looks over to his fellow officer and he is staring at that rocking horse. His eyes are glossed over in a daze. He shakes his fellow officer and his fellow officer snaps out of it. They make their way back upstairs. They both talk in the kitchen that they are going to have to talk about this with each other after they leave the house to get their bearings back.
They go back out on the porch. The old woman has a smirk on her face. She says "Didn't feel good did it? You should have listened shouldn't you?"
He gets back in his vehicle and he asks dispatch why they interrupted him. Dispatch says he was gone too long. He says he wasn't gone long. Dispatch says he was gone for 10 minutes. He says he was not gone for 10 minutes. He says he was gone for about 2 minutes before they interrupted him.
There are more calls that come in and they move on to those.
However, later, back at the police station, they review the police body camera. Sure enough, once they get down into that room with the rocking horse, both he and the fellow officer freeze for 7 minutes looking at that rocking horse. They do not move. They do not speak. You can hear them both breathing for 7 minutes on the video. The only reason they snap out of it is because dispatch interrupts them on the radio. They both stood looking at that rocking horse for 7 minutes without realizing it.

2024.05.16 04:33 arinabi need a car for the city, should I buy new or used?

Hi guys. Apologies if the question "is the used car market still bad" is asked a lot. I'm not knowledgeable about cars and I view them as more of an appliance to get me from point A to point B.
I'm having a really hard time finding a car I want. I'm going to move back to Chicago proper soon and the car will be street-parked. With my previous car, it got scratched to hell. I initially was looking for a used car, but so many options seem overpriced. I found a 2011 Toyota Corolla with 50k miles for $13,900. I read in a reddit thread that this would have gone for maybe $8k just a couple years back !! I've found other listings from used dealerships that seemed good, but reviews would often indicate major issues with the store, such as wanting you to do a credit check before test driving. I even went to go see a 2017 VW Jetta, 96k miles, $10,500, but when I got to the dealer, they brought out an entirely different Jetta and my dad immediately spotted a significant issue when he opened the hood! Not only has finding a decent used car been a pain, I'm getting the sense that they're generally overpriced at the moment as well.
My parents are the kind of people who only buy new cars because they want to avoid problems with used, so they've been telling me to just buy a new one. I can afford a new car, cash even, but I don't want to drop that kinda money knowing people are going to fuck it up the first month I'm in the city. I was thinking of buying a new Mitsubishi Mirage as a last resort, spend the extra money to have something new and guaranteed to not have a history. They get a horrible rap for being slow, but they save money on gas and are generally reliable. However, I feel even these are overpriced these days as the cheapest I can find one in my area is $19,500. I heard these used to go for $10-13k, ugh.
would anyone have any advice? My budget and preferences are below:
thanks in advance!

2024.05.16 04:30 choptopsbbq2019 Share your experiences of dealing with people who just constantly derailed/stalled the production

I think we have all had these people involved in collaboration at one point or another...
You know the type, you bring them on board only to start regretting the decision because they find ways to dig their heels in over tiny things, then slowly start assimilating themselves into the directors chair and try to take over everything and slow everything down to a crawl.
I was finding myself to be a pretty decent low budget filmmaker. I know every production is different and every crew works a different way. I was big on not over planning my movies. I knew that what was in my head was unlikely to be what appeared on screen with the limited resources I had, so I would arrive on the day and adapt. I liked a fast paced environment, ideas were always welcome and I wouldn't be too precious over production issues. Working at such a low budget, or sometimes no budget at all, I understood that I would rather shoot the scene how I could and make the most out of it rather than be bitter about it not being perfect. It was freeing, it was fun to be creative in working around issues etc.
My short films were garnering some interest and local actors and crew were wanting to work with me when I was trying to set up a project.
I had worked hard on getting my first low budget feature film into pre-production and it looked like it was about to start shooting in the next couple of months (this was in 2016).
...and then I brought in the cinematographer...
The DP was a good friend of mine. We had met through the local film scene and followed each others work, but never actually collaborated. I thought it would be a good idea to delegate DP duties and we could both embark on feature films together.
He had worked on bigger productions before, bigger than what I had worked on though not as a DP.
It was apparent very quickly that he was unwilling to just adapt to the smaller scale of my production and was pressuring for more and more.
What started as me hoping somebody with DP experience would be able to come in and improve the visual elements of the films through sheer experience and resourcefulness and understanding, was very far from the truth.
Very quickly, he was insisting I spend a good amount of the budget on renting better high end cameras, better and more extensive lighting and wished on me bringing in additional crew to assist him with the DP duties. I was not opposed to this, and figured as a cinematographer it would be a worthwhile investment to the project. Then of course came insurance for that gear and suddenly my very low budget was already starting to dry up if I proceeded.
I figured if we are going from making a cheap local indie feature into something more professional looking, maybe we should try to utilise the gear we had to try and film a couple of things to raise interest and potentially gain some more investment via crowdfunding, so we took some scenes and shot them. They looked alright. Better than what I had been doing on my own anyways...
It was apparent during the shooting though, that he wasn't just focusing on cinematography. He was overruling some of my decisions with actors, trying to change locations and entire conversations. At one stage when I was elsewhere, likely catching a smoke or toilet break, I came back to see him talking the actors through a few things, and when I was trying to get him to adapt what he had in his head to what was actually possible to shoot, he was getting a bit preachy and huffy about not getting his own way.
All things considered, the shoot turned out ok in the end. After I edited it and carried out some detailed sound design, it was actually pretty decent.
The cinematographer then started sending me messages questioning the casting of certain people, and started suggesting alternative actors. He would also start questioning the tiniest bits of dialogue with a sort of 'know it all' attitude, wishing to change locations of certain scenes (for example, from a bar to an office). He obviously had plans in his head to make 'this scene look like the scene from X movie or Y TV series'. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was trying to film ideas he wanted to visually do, and not actually shoot the script the way I was asking him to shoot.
This progressed into him requesting more gear, because he had ideas. I just didn't have the money for this, but he was digging his heels in again and again over everything including directing decisions, writing, casting.
Film is a collaborative effort, but I had brought in somebody who was taking over the production and any time you had to move him back into his station he would give you the 'trust me, I worked on this and this...I know best' mentality. Production was slowing to an absolute CRAWL because he would just constantly bombard you with expectations and challenge everything, and when things finally got started would take forever reviewing a shot and lighting before he was happy to shoot. I am not against quality control, but this isn't Hollywood, we didnt have the time, money or resources to be this strict about the craft. We had to be in and out of locations within a certain timeframe and he was just too unwilling to meet me in the middle between what he considered his level and my level, it was his way or nothing.
The guy had clearly wanted to work with me, so it confuses me as to how the guy who apparently liked my work and style just wanted to entire project to fit what he thought was best, and my role as the director was requiring the inevitable where I was going to have to kick him off the production because we weren't moving any further forward with his elitist attitude towards the project.
The project eventually folded and never returned. It was what it was. If I had kicked him sooner or even shot it myself, it probably would have been completed. Maybe not to a super high standard, but I wasn't looking for a BAFTA, I just wanted to shoot my first feature script with the money I saved for it, but the budget was drained and the project had been at a standstill for too long directly because of this cinematographer that was constantly throwing spanners and changes into the works.
I thought it was me and I just couldn't handle a production. But as time went on, I worked with others and projects all came together nicely, I had good working relationships with crew and cinematographers. I may have been less experienced, but he certainly damaged the production.
Years later, we are still friends and we do still share ideas with one another.
But I have noticed every single time we initiate the possibility of collaboration, the professional side of him flares up and it becomes the controlling production knowledge it all demon that I experienced back in 2016 all over again. Anything I've ever sought to make without him, gets made. Every time we try to work together, it never gets made for all of the same reasons initially.

2024.05.16 04:28 Leather-Being6256 NuCamp FullStack Bootcamp 2024

I am more than halfway through this bootcamp and I would not recommend it. The content is AI generated, disorganized, and out of date. You are on your own with the AI generated material all week and then do a 4 hour virtual, but in-real-time "review" of that disorganized material on the weekend with classmates and instructor. The instructors are required to cover the set content which doesn't leave much time for actual discussion or questions. Most of the projects are code-alongs, and not very instructive.
The poor presentation means that you are not only having to slog through robot-voiced videos that don't make much sense and then try to do a bunch of code along exercises every day (the course itself requires at least 3-4 hours per day of work to get through), but then you also have to go ACTUALLY learn the information on your own through other sources - which is another several hours per day. This part alone makes this bootcamp a poor choice for people that do not already have some coding background.
The out-of-date thing might not sound like a big deal - and if we were only talking about learning concepts that have newer versions, that would be fairly understandable. BUT there are modules that require using third party platforms in order to complete course work (like in React Native where we need to be able to see our code working on a mobile device) and the NuCamp files and instructions are so out of date that these third party platforms will not run. Which leaves us unable to complete the coursework... and no solution in sight...
All of the students in my cohort are really frustrated (the instructors are too). Many of the instructors are trying really hard to help, but they themselves are newbie coders, and most don't have any teaching experience (nor much deep experience with coding). The owner and curriculum team are not particularly interested in updating the material or improving it - repeated requests go unanswered.
This is the most affordable bootcamp I have found, and the one benefit is that I have found real people to learn with and there is an instructor to ask for help - so in that aspect it is one step up from the free bootcamps like FreeCodeCamp and CodeCademy. There are Udemy bootcamps that are MUCH better written and delivered - the only problem is that there is no human to help when something doesn't work or you get stuck. So, I guess for the few thousand I spent on this camp, having access to humans is a significant benefit. That is about the only good thing I can say about my experience. You get what you pay for I guess.

2024.05.16 04:25 NightWriter007 UPDATE: 25-Year Charter Customer Says Adios...

This is an update to my original post/complaint here: https://www.reddit.com/Spectrum/comments/1cnlzcw/25year_charter_customer_says_adios_after_bait/
I complain loudly when a company does wrong, but I try to be among the first to give kudos when something that's wrong is made right. On May 8, I reported (in the post above) about my interaction with a Retention rep at a Spectrum call center in Florida. I had called to cancel my Internet service because the rate would soon be increasing quite a bit, and T-Mobile Home Internet had just arrived in our rural town with faster speeds and a lower price. The rep offered me a good deal on Ultra (500 Mbps) for two years, and it was slightly better than TMHI's rate, so I agreed.
After a few days, when my speed remained stuck in the 300 Mbps range, I called regular CS and was told that the deal showing on my updated bill is not what I had agreed to. Instead, I was given 300 Mbps for $20 more than the amount I was quoted, and for a term of one year. I declined and put in a cancellation order. I also asked the CS rep to file a complaint about the original offer being misrepresented.
A few days ago, I received a DM from a Spectrum rep in management who had seen my complaint and asked for a few more details. He said that he would refer my case to the call center supervisor, who would review my recorded call.
Today, I received a call from that supervisor in Florida, who apologized for what had happened. He said that he had spoken with the Retention rep, who confirmed the promo rate he had offered me. He said he had entered it and thought it was a done deal. Our recorded conversation confirmed what the rep had offered. Evidently, something had gone awry in the billing system, and the order didn't process correctly. The supervisor said he would make it right, and I would receive what was promised: Ultra 500 Mbps for two years at the fixed rate originally offered. An hour later, I received an email from Spectrum stating that my service had been upgraded to Ultra, and the new billing summary correctly reflected what was discussed. A speed test confirms my speed is now close to 500 Mbps.
So, Spectrum did reach out to me about my complaint, they looked into it, and they made it right. I think it is appropriate to complain when a company does not honor its promises, but it's just as important to give kudos when a company is proactive and makes things right. Spectrum did that, and so I am updating my OP. Thanks to the Spectrum reps who looked into my case and got things sorted out.

2024.05.16 04:23 Due_Average_3874 sometimes you get good reviews.....

A review I got for a job the other day, I don't generally care much about reviews, most reviews are bought, yes reviews are BS and most good reviews are bought or paid for. - I'm High masking- recently un-masking....
But its nice to hear someone appreciate your work for a change. "We had an absolutely fantastic photo shoot with Jonah today for our skincare line. Jonah exhibited remarkable professionalism, meticulously attending to every detail and ensuring he captured exactly what we envisioned. We thoroughly enjoyed our photo session!"
Funny too because the job previous to this was a shi$$y restaurant manager who I asked one of the wait staff if he was "A fucking idiot?" I shot food for the restaurant and this A'hole then after i asked if I could have a couple of the dishes, he said yes, I boxed them up and then tried to charge me for them. Lol, I laughed and left, and at the door I said "What a piece of shit"

2024.05.16 04:23 Ok_Web_1877 Review: Dorky Girl GETS REVENGE On Hot Guy, What Happens Is Shocking

Intro:
Today I am reviewing what I believe to be the most disappointing Dhar Mann video of all time. It had potential, I was invested... then Dhar Mann just completely fumbled it. Expect me to get more scathing and frustrated as this review goes on.
This is also a weird twilight zone moment because Azeem, who famously salvages bad Dhar Mann videos, is one of the main contributors to what made this video awful (His character I mean, not Azeem himself).
Review:
Our story begins in the school theatre. Auditions are happening, and our titular dorky girl, Julie (Cecily Dowd), nails it. She does so well, in fact, that the heads of the drama club close up all remaining auditions for that role. That's pretty fucking mean if you ask me. Next up is our titular hot guy, Chase, a jock who hates being a jock. His audition sucks, and the coaches tell him that he's not getting the role.
What the fuck is going on here? Cutting off an audition early is one thing, but outright telling somebody they're not getting the part??? This is like the inverse problem with the tryouts for Bookside's Football team I covered last week. Between this and dismissing all people who haven't auditioned for Julie's role yet, this is super unprofessional.
Disheartened, Chase goes to the back of the theatre to sit with his unnamed narc friends (Azeem Vecchio and Nathan Ing. Knowing that it's these two good actors in this role makes this video just...). We learn that Chase knows he sucks, but he needs to get a role, otherwise his dad will make him play baseball again. We get a namedrop of Chase's bitch of a girlfriend, who blew him off to go shopping. Julie comes by and gives her condolences to Chase. Once she walks away, the narc friends make fun of her, and Chase gets a call from Bitch bitching about shopping or some bullshit. She verbally abuses him and also insists that he sticks to baseball.
Wow, a sympathetic protagonist! This is rare in Dhar Mann. Chase is a good guy, but he's manipulated by an abusive dad and a controlling girlfriend. It doesn't help that his friends suck too.
We cut to lunchtime at school the next day, and typical Dhar Mann plot contrivances occur. The male lead (the role Chase tried out for) turned down the part because he got cast on Broadway... you didn't have to go that far for an excuse Dhar Mann lmao. Oh but the contrivance gets even worse, because apparently the directors are giving Julie full power over who the male lead will be... Excuse me?
Why are the directors letting some random student decide this? This is especially contrived considering we saw how unprofessional and absolutist they were earlier... what the fuck. Anyway, narc friends pressure Chase into doing yet another bad thing: manipulating Julie into casting him by pretending to be romantically interested. This is made even worse by the fact that Julie has had a crush on Chase since they were little. That's fucked up, narc friends. They at least made Chase sympathetic enough to understand why he went along with this.
I have to give it to Chase here, because he doesn't outright ask Julie for the role or even pressure her to give it to him. He approaches her asking to help him get better. He's sincere in his compliments to her about how great her singing and acting is. He gets her number, and they arrange to hangout and practice together. So far, Chase isn't in the wrong yet.
We cut to the next day, in the theatre, where Chase is auditioning by reading a scene with Julie. Once again, I have to give a Dhar Mann video credit on something. It's annoying how his videos always repeat the message of the video word for word, but here, the message is stated in a fictional play that these are reciting. That's a bit more clever if you ask me, and MUCH more tolerable. Nevertheless, the directors are not impressed with Chase. They ask to speak with Julie in private... why? They've already been so mean to Chase right to his face, why hold back now lmao. In any case, the directors really don't like Chase, and Julie, at least for a moment, begrudgingly resolves to tell him he's not getting the part.
Julie tries to let Chase down lightly, and this is where Chase finally enters "in the wrong" territory. In a last ditch effort to keep his shot at landing this role, he lies to Julie by telling her that he likes her. Leaning on somebody who likes you to improve at something? Sure. Having them help you audition with their endorsement? Fine. Lying to them to manipulate them into nepotism? That's wrong and messed up. He even lies to Julie and tells her that him and Bitch broke up. Unfortunately, Julie falls for all of this, and overrides the director's decision.
We cut to Chase hanging out with Bitch at some salon. She never shuts the fuck up until Chase mentions Julie in passing. Chase... buddy... you fuck up here... He tells Bitch about his master plan to manipulate Julie. Why do characters in Dhar Mann snitch on themselves so fucking much?!
Julie and Chase are reading lines that mimic their situation a little too closely. That in itself is fine, I just reaaaally hope that they don't break the 4th wall (and insult our intelligence) by acknowledging this. Chase and Julie start genuinely bonding and it's actually an immersive romance for once. They find out they have so much in common and we see a spark form. Even having watched this before, I genuinely forgot about Chase's plan. For the first time, ever, Chase is realizing that Bitch doesn't even remotely care about him the same way that Julie does.
For once, I actually enjoy a montage. The music actually fits, and we see a lot of cute romantic moments. It's so heartwarming, in a way that Dhar Mann videos fail to tug at my heartstrings. Like I said, I was sooooo invested in this video and it had so much potential.
We cut to the day of the show, and Chase's narc friends... oh, right, these clowns still exist... they sneak backstage and support Chase... sort of. They don't congratulate him on a job well done, they congratulate him on manipulating Julie and talk mad shit about her... like why don't you guys just fuck off and get a life already? They leave, and Julie walks, with a massive glowup! Literally every other Dhar Mann character glowup sucks except for this one. Not only are 99% of the now "hot" people at the very median of the bell-curve, but even IF they actually were that attractive, NOBODY reacts irl with the hyperbolic drooling that Dhar Mann characters do. This glow up works because they don't put Julie on a pedestal, nobody ogles her, and nobody suddenly acts really nice to her. It's a much more realistic, Chase tells her she's beautiful, and that's it.
Chase and Julie absolutely knock it out of the park on stage, and the crowd goes wild! This is the only time I recall getting shivers from a video in a Dhar Mann video. The chemistry is so real, for one and one time only in Dhar Mann! Backstage again, Chase and Julie share a romantic moment, but they're still in intermission, so Julie leaves momentarily.
We are at 17 minutes of this 22 minute video. It was good for 17 minutes. These last 5 minutes are all completely fucking downhill... Dhar Mann absolutely FUMBLED this video in the remaining time!!!!
I genuinely stopped writing and watching for a minute to brace myself for how enraged I am going to get from this point out...
Narc friends sneak back stage again and... how does this keep happening?! And sure they tell him he's awesome and all, which is new, but other than that, they give the EXACT FUCKING SAME exposition that they did before the play started. Even in the context of this story, why? Why do this again? Oh, and they don't just loudly announce Chase's plan quietly among themseleves, they fucking declare this shit so loud that the entire world can hear. Including Julie...
Julie is obviously devastated, but what's even worse is that the narc friends just fucking skedaddle. Some fucking friends, right? They seriously left Chase alone to endure Julie's wrath. Even IF they don't know that Chase developed genuine feelings for Julie, isn't it still in their best interest to help Chase so he doesn't have to play baseball again?! At the very very very very least, the friends should say something like "dont blame Chase! He's a good guy, this was all our idea and we put him up to it!" but no. They just take off. No retribution. No consequences. Nothing. Chase gets the entirety of the rage and the blame.
The whole "I was using you at first but grew to actually like you" trope is something common in Dhar Mann. Dhar has made complete assholes get off scot-free and have a happy ending. Here you have a genuine guy who made a mistake and knows it, and he gets the absolute worst of it.
Oh, it gets even worse though... because in another extreme coincidence, this is THE ONE AND ONLY TIME that Bitch decides to care about Chase's life, and show up backstage (HOW ARE SO MANY AUDIENCE MEMBERS GOING BACK DURING INTERMISSION???) to give PDA right in front of Julie. Bitch literally says right in front of Julie "Why is she crying? Did she find out you were just pretending to like her?" Like holy fuck this is overkill! You don't need to narc on Chase this goddamn much!
Despite everything I just said post the 17 minute mark... This video had one more chance for redemption. Dhar Mann could have, and came soooooo close to redeeming this mess... I have to brace myself once again.
In the second half of the show, Julie's tone is much more scathing, while Chase's is completely timid. Usually I hate when, in fiction, people resolve their conflicts on stage by "being themselves", but here... it works. Chase breaks character and gives a sincere, honest apology and plea for forgiveness. I know I've used this phrase a lot, but it is such a heartfelt moment. If any character in Dhar Mann ever deserved forgiveness and a second chance for being genuinely repentant, it is Chase. Hell, even the entire damn audience is rooting for Chase and wants Julie to forgive and embrace him!
20 minute mark. 2 minutes remain, and we just had another peak moment after a valley, so surely this video can't fuck it up... right?
Julie runs off stage and the director calls an impromptu intermission. But then we cut to the next day at school... What? No! You can't just not tell us what happened the rest of the night and what became of the show!
Chase goes up to Julie at her locker with a gift of their favorite food. Chase tells Julie that he broke up with Madison, much to Julie's indifference. Chase is wearing a "so you see..." backpack by the way... Dhar Mann was INTENT on ruining this video holy shit.
Julie tells Chase that she talked to the director and they have decided to recast Chase's rol- HUH?! What??? What the fuck do you mean recast his role?? They JUST HAD the show!!! What do you mean for the rest of the run? That's not how school plays work. And no, there's no bullshit about it just going on a few more days of this weekend, because Julie specifically says that she can't bring herself to dance with Chase EVERY weekend!
I started banging my head into my desk once Julie said "Did you not learn anything from the show? Like my character says: The truth doesn't cost you-" AHHHH fuck off. The one and only time you had a somewhat clever way of veiling the message of the video, you had to fuck it up Dhar Mann by having her just outright point to the intended message... Julie takes the food and walks away. The end.
Outro:
...yes... that's actually how they decided to end this. What the fucking fuck? This is so incredibly anticlimactic and absolutely nothing is resolved. Chase is still under the abuse of his dad, his narc friends are off scot free, and Julie is still crushed. Dhar Mann has redeemed absolutely irredeemable scumbags and given happy endings to sociopaths, but Chase of all characters ends up with an EVEN SHITTIER life than how the video started?! This is even worse with the next suggested video being Anna from "Nerds Get Revenge on Cool Teens", an absolute fucking cunt of character who gets off scot-free and suffers no penalties for the shitty things she does INCLUDING USING SOMEBODY ROMANTICALLY, which she neither regrets nor suffers repercussions for. Just get the fuck out of my face already. Fuck this video, fuck the suggested video, and fuck Dhar Mann for ruining one of the only potentially good videos he ever made.
Sorry for how heated I got in this review. I can assure you that no other video even comes close to disappointing me on this level. It just... you know what, nevermind, I've said everything I need to say.
See you all next week for another review! Leave any recommendations below!

2024.05.16 04:22 yeoldgroudon Why do I attract so many creepy guys approach/dm me when I’m a guy and they say I look young and continue to touch me. Do any other guys get weird dms?

I’m a straight guy who’s 6ft1 and kinda built but I have a young looking face. For some reason I get approached by gay guys who say I look 16 and there’s no way I’m in my 20s then they proceed to make me uncomfortable when I try to leave. I said I had a gf at the time and he said there’s no way because I look young then he continues to touch me everywhere. My friends walked away and said I was just imagining what happened and it happened differently when they weren’t there for this guy to touch me. I tried to scare him off but he was drunk so it didn’t work. My friend said I should be happy that a guy hit on me and touched me???? Like I’m not skinny or short I just have a young face
Then I posted my dating profile on tinder and hinge saying I’m interested in girls but guys would dm me saying I’m not the ugliest person now show them my body, or guys asking if I’m a virgin because I look young and innocent????, then saying the things they’d do to me, asking for my thigh pics and nsfw pics. Ive been asked if I had chest hair and that’s hot and I should grow facial hair because they think it’s hot. Some comments were really creepy and I don’t even find myself attractive I have body dysmorphia and hate my body. All my dating photos I have clothes on. I just wanted advice from a girls perspective. Maybe I shouldn’t post my pics for a review they were just normal photos with my dogs and stuff
So do you guys get any weird dms from guys? I know girls get heaps but I don’t see men saying they do
I’ve never posted anything nsfw
This should probably go on rants idk where to post it I just want to ask
Why are guys creepy
I don’t want to grow facial hair because I hate it. Is there anything I can do to avoid these, where can I ask for dating profile pic reviews

2024.05.16 04:19 Boring-Tomorrow-3572 Toro 60v super recycler 21388

In all of my lawn needs research lately, I’ve decided to start looking at what kind of mower I’d want/need.
I’d narrowed it down to a Honda hrx or toro super recycler (would love the time saver, but can’t justify the price.) In all of my marketplace scouring, I’ve come across one of those “too good to be true” deals, but for an electric 60v toro super recycler. The 21388 to be precise. I’m going to look at it in the morning.
Wondering if there’s something I’m missing on these? Most all of the YouTube reviews are glowing. But this thing is cheap.
For those of you with experience, or just general knowledge of the product market happenings, was this particular model a turd? It’s been discontinued; maybe there’s a reason?
If not, what should I be looking foasking about?
It comes with a battery and charger is all I know. Not even sure if it’s the 7.5 ah battery either. No mention of it coming with both blades, either.

2024.05.16 04:18 27LaylaL Trouble getting my new kitten

I am purchasing a ragdoll kitten for $3000.
We decided to invest in our dream kitten for a number of reasons but mostly for falling in love with the breed. After a few months of searching for a breeder we THOUGHT was reputable. They had great online reviews and we put a $500 deposit on a 1 week old kitten and have now been anxiously and excitedly awaiting her arrival.
This is no small purchase for us so we went into it with high expectations.
We are around two months is and our agreed pick up date is 3 weeks away. We have set up our place and picked out a name and everything should be great.
First the breeder never sends us updates on the kitten unless we ask, which has only been once and she took about a week to send some pictures.
Now the breeder has informed me there will be a 2 week delay on our pick up because the cat has a preventable infection (don't want to say what kind to remain anonymous).
I asked for a discount on our kitten and she declined. I feel like this is unprofessional and I'm doubting how healthy the kitten will be once we pick her up.
I'm already attached to this kitten so I don't want to find a new breeder but I feel like this situation is unfair to us.

2024.05.16 04:11 transcend_1 Demanding to see someone else's arrest/immigration/search warrant

I work and live alongside a large number of immigrants who don't know English and probably don't know their rights. Some of these immigrants may be undocumented.
If ICE were to show up at our place of work with an immigration warrant for a coworker, my understanding is that a building manager or security could require ICE to show the warrant before allowing them entry.
  1. Suppose that I am at work and an ICE officer is attempting to arrest one of my coworkers. Security or the building manager may or may not be around to vouch that they have reviewed the warrant, but it is likely that the officers went through security to enter the building. Can I demand a copy of the warrant to verify that it is correct and signed, and then to direct the officers to leave if not? My worry here is that the underpaid, under-qualified security guard would not carefully review the warrant before allowing entry.
  2. Suppose that I am at home and one of my neighbors (who doesn't speak English) is being arrested. Can I ask to see the warrant for their arrest to verify they aren't being kidnapped? If my neighbor's house is being searched, do I have a right to see the warrant, even if the neighbor is not around to give permission?

2024.05.16 04:09 00roa Work Performance Review

FYI- I work as a server in a pub, not glamorous at all. The first place ever (that I've worked at) that does performance reviews. I've been there for like 3 months, I still consider myself fairly new because I didn't learn all that there is to learn yet if that makes sense.
Anyways, I had a performance review sprung on me completely out of the blue. Wtf. I am so so bad at recalling information or talking about things on the spot unless they are particular interests of mine. My mind is like a scattered dump of puzzle pieces all from different boxes, so retrieving info takes time, effort and patience. As soon as I got called to do it, I felt like I was off to a bad start just because I get so flustered. And performance reviews are extremely effected by what you say in the actual review and how you bring up past evidence of you 'going above and beyond' and advocate for your ability. 😭😭😭😭. None of which I can do well on the spot. I need like 10 mins thinking time minimum guys.
The actual review wasn't necessarily negative but it wasn't 'above and beyond' (when I questioned what 'above and beyond' meant my manager just described someone literally just doing their job 😭😭. Like, what??). All the feedback I got made me feel so angry and unseen and also it just didn't really seem true or helpful to anyone. Lots of the things my manager said I could improve are just symptons of my undiagnosed Audhd like, 'not pushing yourself' (I actually am using 110% of my energy at any given moment), 'looking around and just going from one thing to another' (I'm actually just constantly forgetting and remembering what I'm supposed to be doing). They basically brought up the events of one of my most recent shifts in which I was given a job that I had 'been trained in' (when I asked multiple questions to multiple ppl including managers about how to do this job they all gave wish-wash answers like " it's self explanatory") but had never actually done before during rush period!! So naturally I was a bit slow and also some managers literally told me to do the opposite of the thing that I got told off for doing!! #mixed messages. In the end I kind of felt like the manager doing my review was just saying things to say things although another part of me wonders if I would have been able to convince him of my high capability, if only I could actually put together coherent sentences on the spot. I took all the feedback really personally because I'm such a try hard and they said I didn't try enough (wthhhh) and because I feel like they were picking on my character traits. If you made it to the end, bless you. --Rant over -- 😭😭 Love u all

2024.05.16 04:05 People_Blow I need an ULPT

CONTEXT: All of the players mentioned here are fellow HR coworkers. The players are:
ISSUE #1: May is paid less than Josh, even though she and he are in similarly situated roles (same level, same team), and she has significantly more experience than Josh does. She is aware of this because she helped process the paperwork when he was originally promoted. She wants to bring this up to her manager to discuss. So, May and I were talking today about this, and I was helping her to strategize her talking points. I asked what the difference in pay was exactly between them, so she looked it up in our HRIS to confirm what it was exactly. She then noticed that Josh's pay was actually more than she thought she remembered from when he was promoted in the late fall, and looked at the pay change history to determine why.
It was because Josh had received a company-wide comp adjustment in January 2024.
Ok, now hold that thought....
ISSUE #2: When I was promoted in Nov 2023, my promotion offer came with a very small raise/wage increase. When I tried to negotiate, I was told that the new comp philosophy was to bring people in at the exact approved hiring rate, and there was zero room for negotiation. I was told that despite that, I could expect to receive a company-wide comp adjustment that was coming in Jan 2024. I ended up accepting the role.
In Dec 2023, the CEO sends a company-wide email about the upcoming comp adjustment in Jan, and specified that one of the parameters of the comp adjustment was that anyone promoted in Q4 would be ineligible. (Note: The comp adjustment percentage was higher than the percentage of my raise for the promotion. Meaning if I had not been promoted, I would have actually been making more money with the comp adjustment.)
I immediately reached out to my manager to say that this was inconsistent with what we had discussed. She said she was unaware of that parameter when she told me I would get the comp adjustment, and would look into it further.
Fast forward to Feb, and there's still no answer. I reiterate to my manager that she had told me I would be receiving the comp adjustment when she made me the offer initially, and that that had factored into my decision to take the role. She then said that if I wanted to reconsider my promotion because of this, I could. So, I did. In March I demoted myself back to my old role, ans then received the comp adjustment (so started making more than in my promoted role). There were other factors that pushed me in this direction, but the pay was one of the main ones and was the catalyst.
So. Let's to back to Josh. I find out today, that Josh received the company wide comp adjustment in Jan 2024, even though he was also a Q4 promotion.
Fanny (who was promoted with me in Nov 2023 to the same supervisor role) also did not receive the company wide comp adjustment.
SUMMARY/TLDR: So here you have two women (me and Fanny) who didn't receive this comp adjustment in Jan because we were Q4 promotions, but Josh (a man) did. And you have another woman (May) who is being paid less than Josh even though she has far greater experience.
ULPT REQUEST: Where I need the ULPT is how to frame up how I know this about Josh's compensation, so that I can bring this to our CHRO. I know that having access to comp (and other sensitive) information via the HRIS is a privilege and that May and I should not have been looking at that to help prepare her for her conversation about the pay inequity between her and Josh, so I don't really want to admit to that. But now that I know this, I have to call this out. It's just too wrong. I freaking demoted myself over this because they told me no to getting the comp adjustment due to my Q4 promotion.
So, what can I do?

2024.05.16 04:02 lnels_9 Should I be putting more of my income into Stocks and bonds, Trad IRA, or 401k?

I currently have an Acorns account with about $4,000 invested total. Around $3k of that is in stocks and bonds and the rest is in an Acorns traditional IRA. I put around $180/month into the stocks and bonds and $60/month into the IRA. I will continue doing this for the foreseeable future. I plan on not touching any of this money until retirement. My question is not whether I should be using Acorns or not because I know there are mixed reviews about it. I should also say I don’t really know much about investing and such, obviously.
I also put around $220/month into the 401k at my work. It comes out to about 10% of my monthly income that goes into this account.
So clearly I put more money into the Acorns accounts. Like I said, I plan on not touching any of this until retirement. I want this money to grow with compound interest over many years. At least I think that’s what I should do. I suppose what I’m asking is there a general clear answer to this? Like is there an answer to this that it widely known? Something all financial experts would say?
I’d love to hear your guys thoughts, thanks.

2024.05.16 04:00 AffectionateHeart460 Do I have an EEOC case?

In March 2023, I started a new role in consulting. In June 2023, I expressed that I was having communication/resepct issues with one of my Managers and wanted to be moved clients as it was affecting my growth— at the time, I did not call out “discrimination” as I was trying to keep the peace and simply ask to be moved, but I noticed that she only acted that way towards me. I could never get a full sentence out with out being disrespected, she didn’t offer the adequate training I needed, etc.
So fast forward to December 2023, I get a low performance review. Which mathematically didn’t make sense, as I had more “meet expectations” than I did, “does not”. The “does not” i received were from her and the senior that I work along side with on that client—- but like I said, I had “meets expectations” from my other managers (i work on multiple clients under different managers)
Due to my low performance review, I am now on biweekly calls with my coach (who has told me it is not a PIP). She is reaching out to my all my managers bi weekly and asking about my performance and it just seems like a dominio effect to get me to quit as now everyone has something negative to say— and I’m expected to improve my performance (which i have been), but every question i ask or mistake I make is being documented. How am i supposed to “improve” if every question I ask is being documented?
I have saved screenshots of various conversations where I’m having issues getting the needed help/training or where it feels like I’m being intentionally called out and targeted or petty Attitude towards me— I understand that these can be justifiable in terms of evidence and not concrete.
Do I have case in terms of discrimination with my initial manager and not getting the respect and training I needed? I also think my low performance review is retaliation from me expressing my issues with this mananger who has been with company for 15+ years. — so I obviously had no fight in the beginning.
It is now June 2024 where I’m mentally burnt, tired of crying and feeling anxiety and depressed from my job. The situation has significantly decreased my confidence in my knowledge and hindered my growth. I stayed until March 2024 of this year because I was under a one year contract. I am wanting to leave, but I am now struggling to find a job because of the job market.
