2024.05.16 13:06 DrYangHF7 I recovered from aplastic anemia via Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door (贫血)

Gratitude to Namo Sakyamuni Buddha!
Gratitude to the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva!
Gratitude to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from ten directions and three periods of time!
Gratitude to the Dharma protectors!
Gratitude to the benefactor and benevolent father Master Jun Hong Lu!
Gratitude to my fellow Dharma practitioners!
In 2021, I experienced 2 menstrual hemorrhages. On September 5, I went to the hospital to get the physical examination report card. The doctor told me my illness was very serious. The report card showed that my platelets were only 13×10^9/L (simplified to 13, as below), while the normal level is 100-300. The doctor told me to call my husband and ask him to take me to the city hospital. My husband didn't believe it. He thought something might be wrong with the test. Thus, I didn't travel to the city hospital that day.
In the restaurant the next day, when I sat down on the chair, I felt dizzy! I hurriedly let my husband take me to the hospital. According to various aspects of the examination, such as bone penetration and chest bone penetration, the condition is aplastic anemia. By then, I really didn't know how severe this illness is. I thought I did not eat things indiscriminately. I should be full of positive energy and not get sick. At the time, I did not know how stupid and ignorant I was. I had many ignorant habits, such as staying up late at night, bursting into anger, sexual misconduct, and abortions. If I didn't study Buddhism, I would never realize how heavy and deep my karmic obstacles are!
I had a gynecological problem for a long time, but I hadn't been to the hospital, and I was afraid to go to the hospital. It's more likely to happen if you are afraid of something happening. I regret not checking the body timely. Two years ago I dreamed of my deceased aunt and 2 children next to her. Pointing to my gynecology, my aunt said cancer. As I did not encounter Buddhism at that time, I did not understand that it was a great calamity. After waking up I felt scared. Then, I thought it was just a dream, and did not pay attention to it.
My karma broke 2 years late, as the dream predicted. I received 8-10 days of hospital treatment. We asked to be discharged because the cost was too high. I went to our county hospital. A doctor with glasses told me to have a bone marrow transplant. My father-in-law and father did not believe my disease was so serious, and neither did I. I was only a bit older than 30 years old, so I could not have such a severe disease. We travelled to a city hospital for treatment. The doctor told me that I would need a bone marrow transplant. That's when I realized this disease's seriousness!
Master Lu enlightened us to pay attention to the premonitory dream. Otherwise, it would be too late to regret. At that time, I had not encountered the Buddha's teachings, so I knew nothing about these principles. A bone marrow transplant was a bolt out of the blue for us! It cost hundreds of thousands of CNY. Our family was poor, so we couldn't afford it! During that time in the hospital, I was so scared that I couldn't eat or sleep. I also had chronic insomnia. One of the two cancer patients sleeping next to me was in pain every day and relied on painkillers to stop the pain, which was really agonizing. The other cancer patient was in her 70s and afraid of death. Without the Buddha's teachings, sentient beings can only follow their destiny. Although they do not want to die they have to die.
The hospital environment makes me not want to stay for a moment. They are all serious illnesses, such as cancer. I fear thinking about it. I requested discharge from the hospital after >10 days of treatment. I requested to take medication at home and follow a conservative approach to my health. So, I was discharged home.
The other morning, while I exercised at home, I suddenly felt weak. Just in time, my father-in-law arrived. I hurriedly asked him to take me to the clinic. I was too weak to move, so he carried me downstairs.
One night, I read a post on the Internet that a person with a blood disease did not undergo a bone marrow transplant. That person was treated in a specialized Chinese and Western medicine hospital and the low platelet level became normal. So, I contacted the doctor right away and registered for an appointment. My husband immediately booked a sleeper ticket to the hospital for the next day. The fear that I might not wake up after sleeping kept me from sleeping that night. After a few days of hospital treatment, platelets still didn't increase. This worries me a lot. What should I do? Until then, I realized that my disease could not be controlled by medication at all.
In the meantime, I was blessed by the Bodhisattva to see an online video of Master Lu reading a totem posted by a Buddhist practitioner. Since then, I have understood that sexual misconduct and abortion create heavy karma. My gratitude goes out to Bodhisattva's mercy for letting me encounter karma. So I promptly used the three Gems of Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door to treat my disease. I made 2 vows: become a vegetarian for life, and release 2,000 fish after discharge from the hospital.
Just after making the vows, my appetite increased greatly. Actually, in the hospital, the happiest thing for me is to eat. Half a month later I returned home from the hospital. The Buddhist practitioner sent me Buddhist materials. I recited Buddhist scriptures daily. Approximately 10 days later, I returned to the hospital to check. My platelets rose from 13 to 27. A month later, my platelets increased from 27 to 50. During my third check, my platelets rose from 50 to 107. Normal platelet levels are 100-300, so my platelet level is back to normal.
I was so happy, and blessed by the Bodhisattva! I had tears in my eyes at that time. Although there were still abnormal indicators, such as anemia, after all, it had only been a few months since I encountered the Buddha's teachings. Later, my platelet index reached 127.
There was a period of slackness in my cultivation: I could not finish reciting 3 Little Houses within 2 days; did not want to get up in the morning; did not vow the number of Little Houses to my karmic creditors; and my vow was not powerful enough. These resulted in the two dream exams being flunked, leading to 3 or 4 indicators of abnormality.
Hence, my fellow Buddhist practitioners, please take me as a warning, and strive to cultivate our minds, recite Buddhist scriptures diligently, devote ourselves to one Buddhist practice, and never quit!
Now I sincerely make 10 vows to Guan Yin Bodhisattva:
  1. Be a vegetarian all my life;
  2. Do not kill beings all my life;
  3. Release life according to conditions all my life;
  4. Respect my Master and His Buddhist teachings, be one of the hands and eyes of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, and never quit;
  5. Study Buddhism in Plain Terms all my life;
  6. Convince sentient beings to practice Buddhism using my experiences, propagate Buddhism, and transform the right ones extensively;
  7. Recite 1,000 Little Houses to my karmic creditors in 2022;
  8. Read Buddhism in Plain Terms 1,000 chapters in 2022;
  9. Release 3,000 fish in 2022;
  10. Attend the group study of Buddhism in Plain Terms 100 sessions in 2022.
Gratitude to the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva!
Gratitude to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas from ten directions and three periods of time!
Gratitude to Master Jun Hong Lu!
If there is anything that is not rational or in line with the truth in the presentation, I'd like to seek forgiveness from Namo Sakyamuni Buddha, the Greatly Merciful and Greatly Compassionate Guan Yin Bodhisattva, all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Dharma protectors, and Master Jun Hong Lu. I would appreciate critique and correction from my fellow practitioners!

2024.05.15 19:06 Mimolete Waifu tier list - Spoilers

Waifu tier list - Spoilers
Hey everyone!
I never played a game where I can have waifus and choose one at the end. I'm about to fight the final battle, and it has been an awesome ride, what a game!
I've eaten so much with my comrades in this game, because I wanted to max out their relationships and see every convo the game had to offer. Didn't want to choose the waifu without giving all of them a chance.
https://preview.redd.it/9puyhfxsgm0d1.png?width=904&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c3208758591ff57696a1336270f5e8d3ca46751
So, after almost 200 hours of gaming and seeing every convo, here is the final result! I'll explain a lot of them and please bear with me if it's all over the place and in no particular order!
I must say before we start, I took this decision quite seriously (lol) so my choice always was about "who do I like the most AND who could be seen as a queen when we take back Cornia".
Let's immediately start with the Queen herself, Virginia. It always was Virginia. It will always be Virginia. It was love at first sight. Don't you see this fire in those eyes?? Still, I was open-minded and willing to give any other girl a chance through the story and their convos, but even with the convos, Virgina beat them. In the first convo, she shows love towards Alain's mom (her aunt) by scolding and threatening to beat up some dudes who talked bad about the last queen. Alain arrives and sees what happened. He thanks her for getting angry because of her aunt, to which she answers something in the lines of "I'll be angry as much as you want me to be"...sheeeeesh!!! With the ost, the whole scene was fire. In the second convo, she shows indirectly she's been loyal to Alain this whole time from childhood to now. They play this chess-like game they used to play as kids. Then they got separated as kids. Years later, in this convo, Alain wins for the first time and he starts crying cuz he sees that Virginia's tactics never changed since childhood, while his changed. He cried cuz he understood she had no one to play with after he left. That's why she's making the exact same moves she used to when playing with him. One could think she would have played with Gilbert years later, but nope. Here she falls for him deeper, when she sees that he is empathic and isn't sensitive about stuff that happens to him but about stuff that happens to others. And in the final convo, Virginia who always was about that queen attitude, accepts to show vulnerability and basically asks a favor to Alain : "take me home". What a moving relationship all and all between the two, after being orphans for years, meeting together again and make it thru war. Sheesh.
I'll talk briefly about the "unstable" row, as some might ask why those are so low. Those are low because most of them are fishy or plain not for Alain. Monica is the bomb, don't get it twisted here. Look at those curly hair and those red/pink eyes, she's a noble who cares about the people. But she's also for Clive, not I can't do that to my man Clive who's the man, but she doesn't even have a final convo with Alain. It's always platonic between them. However, when you watch the last convo between her and Clive, you see they are in the way to getting back together, which is awesome. If it wasn't for her story with Clive, Monica was a serious contender to Virginia.
Same for Primm. Primm is for Aramis. Convos show that. Aramis is the most "Mr steal your girl" of all the boys. I have love for Aramis, but I can't trust him with girls around, that's just the way it is. He made Primm blush like crazy during his convos with her, calling her a little flower and stuff. And she hits into him too, very discreetly (not that discreetly). Alain on the other hand, never made her blush. And the final convo between the two shows Primm doesnt care about Alain (as a love interest I mean). Other than that, Primm was also a huge contender at first too, look at her long wavy red hair. She's sweet too. And she says in a convo with Alain, that she was chubby younger, oh boy. But of course, Mr steal your girl had to interfere and from that moment, Primm was never a choice anymore.
Liza is my girl, don't get me wrong. She blushes at the end with Alain, acts like a sweetheart who doesn't want to admit she is proudly wearing our gift...however...in a convo with Clive, he asks something like "how can I thank you" and she answers straight up "take me to dinner", what? She was never a serious contendant but she's a cutie. However when I've read this convo it was over for her. Plus Clive is taken, what are you doin Liza.
Lea I was never interested in her. She doesn't show real interest either. She cool but thats it.
Ochlys and Sharon. Oh boy, where do I begin with. Ok so let's start with Ochlys, as I think she's the most naive of the two. I really like her, and her convos with Alain are awesome, which made it hard to side her . But. but she's too weird with Sharon? If they were kiddos, I would understand their behavior, but they are grown women and they act weirdly childish between them? Why is Sharon massaging Ochlys and why is she blushing, why are THEY blushing? She's a bit sneaky too. She straight up hits on my boi Lex during their unique convo, to the point he's shook. And she acts like she was sitting on a big rock not knowing it was my man Bruno in their convo. What's that Sharon? You didnt see it was Bruno? You didn't see his armor? Don't play with me Sharon. I'll give her some good points though, in her final convo with Alain, she shows sincerity and I like the other convo in which she talks about the orphanage. You can tell she didn't have it easy yet is still kind. But she's kinda a sneak too, sorry Sharon. Look closely at her art, you can tell she can snap if something goes wrong.
Railanor is crazy hot, who's gonna tell otherwise? She's just not queen material and she looks like she's into Ithilion. She also wanna push Alain in Rosa's arms so don't look any further. Very loyal girl tho. And hot, did I say hot?
Tatiana is into Ghislain or whatever his name was. She's kinda crazy. Which is good. She unironically has pretty eyes, if you look closer at them. But she's into that dude who passed so there's nothing much we can do about that. I have to say that Tatiana was one of the most interesting girls in this game, the most interesting being her final convo with Alain, where you learn more about her secrets and her failures. And where you see her vulnerable, both physically and mentally. Her final convo was a nice and peaceful closure.
Lydielle/Rydiel (thats how you call her in the enlglish version?) is a hottie. She's a bit weird with Chloe but maybe i'm too tough with her on this so I'll give her a break on this. She just seems like a good friend to Alain, nothing seemed ambiguous between them, so i just didnt give her the love interest despite being a hottie.
Finally for this row, we have Hilda. Authoritarian red head. Hot. No last convo with Alain tho. And nothing showed any flirty moment between them, unless I dont remember something? In which case just remind me. Picking her would have felt forced and out of place.
I'm not into bestherians. Ramona tho? Oh boy, this is a touchy one. She feels comfy and her fur feels soft? Did you see those eyes? Looks like she's looking straight up into my soul with those owl eyes. And they look very feminine? She cooks, prepares tea, she is a kind soul who raised Yunifee and Morad. I'm just affraid she could hurt me with her talons but I also feel she would be very careful, you can tell by how caring she is in general. Ramona is tricky to admit but i'm not gonna write this huge post just to hide my real feeling about Ramona lol, i like her. And she's a scholar too, just like Selvie. Regular wereowls? Yikes. Ramona tho??? And she has that vibe that makes me think she could be a queen? That mommy/comfy vibe? Also she has that art in the text box where she closes an eye, which gives that yamete kudasai vibe. Plus it would make Cornia and Bastorias closer, when Bastorias was always isolated from the world. In their last convo, Alain promises to Ramona to make Bastorias closer, whats better to do that than marry someone from there?
Talking about that, let's talk Yunifee? Idk man...she just feels like a little sister. But of course the devs had to give her those hips. Come on now. She has those pointy ears too which is a hot touch. We learn late game about a theory that says that basically, bestherians were elves once. They migrated to the north cuz they were banned and used like a forbidden spell to change their appearance in order to hide. And she was a princess too iirc. So she's a very unique character, unique class in the game, thick, but the whole little sister won me at the end. She still made it to A which shows how dangerous she was to Virigina.
No transition, let's talk the Scarlett matter? Scarlett is the girl the game tries to force into you, which immediately gave negative points to my eyes. What I like her about her is she's loyal and humble. During that whole Albion arc, she kept her ground, and wanted to be part of the army and be called Scarlett, with no honorific title. She has that chest too. Of course. What I don't appreciate too much tho, but I understand some of you guys like here, is that she's a bit trying to force herself into Alain. She gets mad because he "can't see" what's in front of his eyes. What if he saw but decided not to address the matter? Why trying to force your way? Leave the man and give him space, make him run after you will you? She's a kind soul tho there's no doubt about that. It's just that shes fine, nothin wild about her. We want that spicy personality, that fire in the eyes. If I forgot something cool about her that might me second guess her, don't hesitate to tell me.
Very close to Virginia, we have the two Beren.
Let's start with Berengaria. She's loyal to the cause and Alain and isn't in Alain's way. If she can handle stuff without Alain having to worry about it, she'll do. You can see it with the Bruno's convo. She tells him no need to worry Alain about the trap and she goes with Bruno to kick some butts. She has Alain's and the army back, she's reliable and will sacrifice herself to protect the ones she loves (her whole arc in Drakengard). Marrying her would also make Alain Travis' brother in law. What's better than having this gem of a man as a brother. When you look at her art, she a hottie. And she has that convo with Virginia in which they it could have gone wrong between the two. Usually nobody stands a chance vs Virginia in a fight. But here it made me ask myself "who would win?". She's mysterious, even in the endgame I feel I could have known more about her. Marrying her would also make Cornia and Drak closer. Very very tough to have let Beren in the back, but you have to choose I guess. So much kindness in her eyes too, smh.
As for the other Beren, Berenice. Amazing underdog here, liked her as soon as I met her at the start of the game. Cool haircut, pretty eyes and smile. I really questioned myself because of her story. She became when she cud have become a knight. She basically took the hit for her chief (can't remember his name, the dude who was once loyal to Ilenia but then became a Zenoira soldier), she defended queen Ilenia's honor and got punished for it and kicked out of the army. Making her my queen would have given back the shine she deserves because of her sincere heart, and would have that "coming from the botton now we here" feeling. Taking a nice girl from the people, and making her a queen. Such an underdog and a cutie she is. Great heart and great laugh too (you can see it in some convos, notably the last one with Alain).
Let's almost end it, it's been long enough.
A rank Amalia and Rosalinda are basically just pure hot stuff but not queen material. They are hotter than most of the other girls, but let's be serious they can't be queens. Look at how they are dressed, what is Alain gonna look like with those baddies next to him on the throne. Ok so first Amalia. Do i really have to explain. Big strong baddie? Legs the height of Alain? Amalia is just a walking temptation. Rosalinda is the exact same thing but petite, smaller. Hot, knows what she wants, goes straight to the point, plays with Virginia's nerves. She's mischievous and I'm in for all of that! I'm sorry but Eltrinde can't compare to Rosalinde. Also, i have this feeling that Eltrinde is a bit sneaky don't ask me why.
B rank are all cool girls. Honestly I didn't find any real bad girl in this game, a lot of them has its own thing going on for them.
As for the last ones, I see Yahna more like big sistemom. Not the Ramona kind of mom. More like the mom real mom kind of mom. She would make an awesome advisor once Alain becomes king. I have her in my main team, the same way Ilenia had Alcina in her squad. Ummels is a traitor and we gave her redemption way too easily tbh (same as sanatio but that's another story). She was ready to have us dead and buried (pun intended), still a cutie but can't go past the betrayal stuff. Alcina didn't get to know her. She died so soon. Seems like we're able to play her postgame? No idea how she comes back from the dead but oh well. She looks like she lacks hygiene? Maybe it's just me.
Idk how I forgot to talk about Selvie? Selvie is a scholar who is always focused on science and learning about the vestiges we visit. But she's a scholar with a fantastic body. Did you see those calves? That chest? One could argue but she hit on Bruno, and call me naive, but I dare to disagree. I think she was genuine lol (maybe I'm too naive, all things considered). Because she sees everything with curiosity, I like to think she was just imagining Bruno's inside skeleton and muscles. Of course Bruno had to run out of fear, who does that? Really Bruno? Anyway at one point I thought a scholar who is a baddie would make for a nice queen, but honestly she lives to travel and study vestiges, so the throne really isn't her place to be.
Also idk why I have Raynis in B tier when I think she's special. She's just a regular character you get endgame and doesn't have much of a development, but she is elegant, would make for a nice queen, is nice to others and can be trust. Even Alain says about her she's the most kindly person he ever met, and I don't remember him saying this to anyone else. And she's a featherbow which means she's a nightmare on the battlefield. I actually moved her all the way up to A.
Not related but watched Monica art again, so much melancholy in her eyes...dang. What could have been Monica, if it wasn't for her story with my boi Clive. Consider Monica a tier of her own everyone.
Thx for reading!

2024.05.14 13:27 Bonocity Subwoofer Legacy Amp Cables? I dun goofed

Dealing with a really shameful hindsight slap across my face.
I had a full system in my old Corolla and when selling it, I removed it HOWEVER, in a moment of impatience/frustration I decided to cut all the cables and wiring running to my amplifier (Power Precision PCX1250 Class D).
My screw up became clear when I visited my installer and he asked me where the cables were. So here I am, praying to the AV Gods wondering if there is any hope of my being able to source replacement cables for this now very rare gem?
Sending a sincere thank you in advance!

2024.05.12 03:07 Maxamillion2009 The Chosen: A Discussion On Their Purposes

So I just got into this whole FemPrimarchs and their Chosen lovers (male or female or purposefully ambiguous). I want to preface this now: I write and present my interpretations and ideas on what The Chosen is all about. Most of this is based on the existing "lore" generously generated by those involved. Big thanks to the creative mind behind the idea, @Sweet_older-Sister, with her Primarch Girlfriend templates, and everyone else coming up with the nicknames of the semi-mysterious Chosen lovers. I believe they are all men or some male persuasion, at the very least. But I digress.
This is all based on the idea that while yes, The Emperor in this scenario was convinced to make them all male, Malcador believed they still needed foils of their own to keep them stable and a means to control them if they could not. That is where The Chosen comes in. Each is a composite human, a homunculus using the DNA of their paired primarchs and other donors. I cannot say how or if the Emperor knew of this or if Malcador ever told his friend. Again, all interpretations and opinions, so please bear with me. How the Chosen and their Primarchs met is both different and a mystery, but they do meet eventually, and it was by design. Mostly, anyhow. Each one has their nickname from their respective spouse, so for clarity, I will refer to The Chosen by their primarchs first, and I believe their original purpose was for each primarch woman. Please have a read, and tell me what you all think! ((Note: there ARE the two missing primarchs we know existed, but given their fates, it is fair to say their Chosen may have fallen the same way.)
The Chosen by Primarch Legion order Lion El'Jonson—The Chosen of The Lioness exudes an aura of trustworthiness and determination. They are receptive like all Chosen, but much more so to understand the whims and wants of their mistress. Where she keeps secrets, they can find them and know how to eek them out from her tough shell. Their purpose was to keep The Lioness honest with someone who could understand their reasoning without fear. Thus, they are the bravest of the Chosen, comparatively speaking.
Fulgrim - They are untapped potential given form: always learning, improving, and challenging their Phoenician goddess. Interestingly, they are plain and unremarkable, but Fulgrim can and does see the endless possibilities with them. Unlike Fulgrim, they are slow and steady in their improvements and know how to step back from obsession. They are meant to remind Fulgrim that "a flawed gem is more perfect than a hand-cut emerald." They were meant to keep Fulgrim's obsessive and compulsive drive to improve and perfect within more reasonable parameters. Easier said than done...
Perturabo - The Chosen of the Lord of Iron. Similar to Perturabo, they also exhibit aspects of being "different" but are far more patient with their mistresses' quirks and outbursts. They are the ones who cheer and compliment their lord when they feel like no one notices or cares. More importantly, besides being avid inventors and architects, this Chosen is the first to ask Perurabo if they are okay. They are the ones that look for the hidden flaws and cracks that would threaten their lord in any way and quickly address their primarch about it. Whether Peteruabo listens and acknowledges these criticisms is a different matter.
Jaghatai Khan - The Chosen of the Great Khan is the wind at her back, the falcon that flies by her side, always. Much like the Khan, the Chosen of the Great Khan is independent. While they are not inhumanly fast, they can keep up with their primarch in other ways. More than that, they always seemed to be around when she needed their presence or comfort the most, as if their speed moved faster than the thought came. Jaghatai and her Chosen have an "open relationship" and do not restrict one another, but both are there when they need each other the most. Their purpose is to support without slowing down the primarch of the White Scars.
Leman Russ - Leman Russ, the She-Wolf, is what you'd expect. The Chosen of Leman and the Vulka Fenrika is to her as Ullr was to Odin: the silent but competent reagent to the Executioner. They act and fight as all the space marines of the Space Wolves do, and because of it, She and her sons see them as fellow members, regardless of their size. After all, this Chosen CAN fight an astartes, surprisingly. The Chosen refuses to be ascended into a full Astartes, however (as all Chosen seem to share), and prefers to fight as they are. Their purpose is to solidify the Wolf's loyalty while remaining loyal to Leman and her alone. They are often trusted with hidden secrets and critical roles and are believed to be the hidden reagent when Leman is away from Fenris proper.
Rogal Dorn - Chosen of the Praetorian of Terra, and similar to the Chosen of Peturabo, they are the small right hand to Dorn. Their purpose was to help Dorn navigate the interpretation of the social aspect and maintain the "human" aspect and quality in their primarch's great work. They are the only two, short of Magnus and their Chosen's telepathy, who can converse without words but actions. They are also the only ones among the Imperial Fists' legion that can see the hidden rage of their primarch from a mile away, and their constructive criticisms, while rare, are studied and accepted by Dorn often.
Konrad Kurze - Chosen of the Night Haunter. Somehow, Malcador seemed to know of Kurze's fate because how else can someone so human, kind, and empathetic to both mercy and justice survive and stand Konrad for so long? Their purpose was to keep Konrad from going too far by providing the viscous daughter of Nostromo an outlet for her ravings and an advisor for sure... methods of meting justice. There is only so much the Chosen can do when their paired primarch is both mentally unstable and plagued by horrific visions of the future. At best, this poor Chosen's greatest strength was to protect his mistress from herself, but you can only slow down an endless descent for so long...
Sanguinius - "A match made in heaven," one may say. This Chosen is both loved and beloved almost as much as Sanguinius herself in life. Her sons see them as their fraternal figure, and the people of Baal see them as either a saint or even an avatar of the Blood Angel and never fail to bring a smile to the primarch maiden's face. That said, there is... a secret design to their biology. Should Sanguinius go too far and drink the blood of her lover, the blood will react and kill Sanguinius within minutes. Otherwise, the Chosen helps and acts as a support fighter, aiding and abetting the rage and blood lust that hides just under the surface of their mistress.
Ferrus Manus - The Chosen of the Gorgon of Medusa reminds Ferrus that "the flesh is weak, but deeds are forever." This Chosen is an overachiever and often challenges his primarch. Not to belittle or doubt her position but to continuously improve where she would otherwise think is either perfect or pointless in addressing. Interestingly, they are more merciful than their primarch and are often the first to be approached by non-astartes humans with tasks and requests. More than that, the Chosen is the linchpin that holds the armor of Ferrus well together. But what happens to a linchpin when the armor breaks elsewhere...?
Angron - The Chosen of the Red Angel was, initially, an "auxiliary battery" for Angron and her empathetic psyker powers. But because of Angron's butcher's nails implantations, they have had to work overtime to keep Angron coherent. That said, their body was made to allow instantaneous reflexes and timing. While not as fast as Angron in a full sprint or spree of combat, the Chosen of Angron is a master reader of intentions and emotions on a surface level. They were meant for a different kind of Angron but became more for their mistress' current condition. They are the calm waters that bring the burning blade that is the primarch of the World Eaters to a tempered state.
Roboute Guilliman - The Chosen of the Avenging Daughter is one step below their mistress' analytical and learning capabilities but makes up for it by being the most trusted advisor, friend, and single lover to the Mother of Ultramar. Where Roboute can see the bigger picture but misses more minor details, her Chosen is the opposite and covers her weak points. But even without all of these things, there is one thing that Roboute loves about their Chosen more than anything else: they can make her laugh and still find her jokes funny.
Mortarion—The Chosen of Mortraion foils her unrelenting, unbearable stubbornness. Their patience and persistence in outwaiting her bouts of petulance are legendary. This patience also helps Mortarion vent her frustrations with someone she can trust. This Chosen is unique in that they are not a psyker... instead, they are an Untouchable. A psychic null whose wrongness is an unbearable stench (no, not Yurgen, please and thank you). Despite this opposing disposition, Mortarion is too stubborn to let it bother her, or the Chosen's null nature is too small to be registered by her. This Chosen fostered a love for gardening instead of destroying, granting The Pale Queen a positive outlet. They were also a doctor when not with Mortraion but had to work through machines as they were still null, so normal humans could not stand to be near them for too long.
Magnus the Red - The Chosen of the Sorceress of Prospero is the cautious wisdom to Magnus' reckless intelligence. They are active psyker and have learned much with and by Magnus herself. They are the hand that pulls an eager primarch away from the edge when sensing danger but also enjoys their mistress' pursuit of knowledge. Much like Magnus, the Chosen loves and cares for their stepson. They may know more about what IS in the Warp than they let on.
Horus Lupercal - The First of the Chosen and the first to meet their primarch. However, they were already aware of their true purpose and nature, as Malcador revealed to them. They were with Horus the longest and, much like Horus, was well-liked and respected by the other Chosen. They also saw the cracks forming, with the Emperor's expectations being piled onto Horus, and they did their best to alleviate their worries. Most of all, they brought out the best of Horus, her sons, and those around him. They were the corona to Horus' rising sun... but just as they were the first to be born and the first to be enlightened, they were the first of the Chosen to die. Without Horus' Chosen, her descent into madness quickened.
Lorgar Aurelian - The Chosen of the Urizen, the “little light” as they were affectionally called in life. A scholar by profession, the Chosen of the primarch of the word bearers was both faithful and logical. Two contradictions that seemed to defy expectations in their cohesion. They were faithful but more so to Lorgar, but they were logical so as to not be blinded by their own faith, or the faith of others. With this super human sense of reasoning, this Chosen could denounce those who sought to twist faith into cruelty, while avoiding offense at the same time. Their purpose was to keep Lorgar’s charisma anchored so as to not fall into the pitfall of zealotry. Unfortunately that zealtroy was refocused from faith and onto the love and well being of the purest source of comfort she ever had, or would ever had. But like any small and persistent light, this Chosen of was not so easily snuffed out.
Vulkan - The Chosen of the Forge Master is the persistent flame that burns even in the most dire circumstances. They are the firm heft to Vulkan's hammerhead, always steadfast and never faltering. They assist the Mother of the Salamanders by reminding her that, while there are good reasons to die for, there are other reasons to live for. For Vulkan, she chose to live for her Chosen as a result, tempering her overly selfless acts of sacrifice. Much like their primarch this Chosen is a master smith, but creates toys for children and leaves surprise baubles and trinkets for Vulkan. She calls it her 'hoard' as a joke to her namesake, The Salamander. Their true nature is that they, like Vulkan, are a perpetual. When they die, they will reconstitute at the cellular level and when and where Vulkan needs them the most. After the Horus Heresy, the Chosen of Vulkan reformed before a vault containing the artifacts of Vulkan herself. They act as the stoic, unmoving guard of their mistress primarch's weapons and tools until she sees fit to return and relieve them of their duty.
Corvus Corax - The Chosen of the hero of Deliverance is the unseen personal spy of the Raven Lord. They practically live within her shadow, often coming out from around corners and doorways that were either empty or locked, respectively, and previously. Besides being Corax's confidant, the Chosen is also the auxiliary eyes and ears that monitor unseen and unheard. More so, they were meant to monitor Corvus, her loyalties, and her well-being and act as the safety line that keeps her from becoming too aloof. Both, however, share their disdain for tyranny and their desire to liberate the downtrodden and oppressed, with the Chosen working so far as to preemptively sabotage enemy nerve centers and critical structures. While they lack the power of wraith slip, they have the passive power to appear as if they belong where they usually would not. Perhaps they are your neighbor walking down the street? Or the nobleman among the ball meandering to an unseen area. Whatever they could be, they are what Corax needs to be: her reliable shadow to her dark life.
Alpharius/Omegon - The Chosen of the Hydra is a peculiar one. More so than any other Chosen, they are the puzzle box that keeps Alpharius and Omegon interested and preoccupied. No matter the mystery, the puzzles, or the hidden plots that are among them, the Chosen of A/O are deviously cunning and receptive. So much so that they figured out their nature far before Malcador revealed it to Horus' Chosen. They like to play their little games with their dual mistresses, with the latter attempting to pretend to be the other and the former trying to figure out who is who. More importantly, their purpose was to keep A/O honest and sincere, at least for the most part. They need to find out where this Chosen is, who they are now, and what they are doing. Some claim they still serve the Hydra to this day. Others think they are dead, and those who claim they ARE this Chosen are either lying or brainwashed to throw off any pursuers of A/O's Chosen. Perhaps no one will ever know, and those who did are either dead or missing.

2024.05.11 01:22 thedarkersoul [Rant] Ignore for your own sanity

[Rant] Ignore for your own sanity
I Have scored 135~140 and gotten 124xxx rank in mains with 92.7 percentile. This might be a long post but honestly idgaf
So I am your average 24 tard.I joined a dummy school at the start of 11th and took offline coaching classes in my city for my JEE prep.
You can say that I was above average till 10th,(who isn’t lmao) {scored 95.6 in ICSE for anyone curious}so I was fairly confident in myself from the beginning (Not the IIT Bombay sigma edits kind but I knew that I could atleaat crack an NIT). Anyway classes started and I started studying.
I was sincere in studying from the get-go and foolishly thought that I was capable of a good college(Lmao).I studied for atleast 2 hours daily after my 4 hours of coaching classes(I know it isnt alot but I saw people on this subreddit saying that consistently studying was better than studying 8 hours one day and then feeling burnt out.
I had sacrificed a lot of thing for my prep. I gave up on all my hobbies at the start of this journey, didnt go to any of my relatives house to spend my holidays (you don’t get holidays fron coaching institues but you can’t explain it to your relatives).I was gifted a PS4 but didn’t play with it except for like 5 days in 2 years Studied religiously during my classes and I was the one to tell our teacher to finish a topic before the end of the class. The other kids wanted to stop a 1 hour class after 30 minutes of teaching because they didnt feel like studying(Mind you this was a daily occurunce not once in a blue moon thing so I would constantly argue with them).I didn’t oogle at girls after my classes ended {p.s I know this is just a me thing but I absolutely Hate when my friends stare at random girls passing by and call then “maal” or say “Oh,her boyfriend is ugly” like dude you’re here staring at every girl and judging someone for their looks?}. I just went to my classes from home and went to home adter mu classes
This went on for ~2 ish years. I had been slowly ramping up my study home and in the last 20 days I can confidently say that I studied for atleats 5 hours daily and would hit 7 hours often and then the First attempt came and I was blessed with the first show of this shitshow [27 shift 1 ]. We all know how that went. Anyways the result came and I didnt want to study anything for a full day but I somehow pulled myself together and continued onwards with my boards and in the second attempt I did the same in the last 20 days for studying 5 hours daily and often reaching 7 hours. This time I got 5 shift 2. In short I worked a full time job for four weeks for nothing but dissappointment
Anyway fast forward to result day and and I missed the advance cutoff by 1.5 percentile. I am devastated and now am searching here and there where the fuck can I get admission with this rank.
Today I was looking at the counsellong for thapar and I found this gem I was a bit confused with the marks vs CRL so I did some digging. Turns out If I had gotten the same number if marks as I did in this year’s JEE just ine year prior my rank would have dropped to a maximum of 60000 and a minimum of 23000. This indicates an inflation of about ~140% for the same number of marks in the worst case and about ~450% in the best case. Thats right, If I had given this godforsaken paper just one year prior, I could have a gotten into an NIT but here I am now wondering if I will even get a seat at my local government college or not
This paper has absolutely shattered and broken me.BITSAT is in like 1.5 week yet I cant concentrate in studying at all and here I am at 2:30 in the morning writing a reddit post about it.My zeal to study has been conpletely taken away and I cant study for more than 30 mins for BITSAT just thinking about the increase in cutoff there too
My screen time has junped to ~10 hours per day and none of it is productive just doomscrolling instagram for scrapes of dopamine
I know I can huff copium about how there is competion in NIT but at the end of the day it is just that;copium.Although my parents are supportive I am just dissapointed with myself and NTA i guess.I dont have anyone to share this story with and everyone assumes I am just making stuff up because I couldn’t clear the cutoff(I kind of am)
I dont know how to end this post so I guess just dint be like me snad think if you study hard you can get into a good college also sorry this is all in english,my hindu is a little weak
TLDR: Redditman angry at himself for wasting 2 years whereas he could’ve been doing something else

2024.05.08 18:21 just_a_liver Honest DA Review - Part 1 - Courses

Overview

Hello folks. I am from the BTech 2020 batch and just recently completed my academics. I wanted to write an honest opinion thread (and a rant) from a student's perspective for my experiences at DA, which might help other folks in better navigating their college life. This is a thread where I would like to share my Academic Experiences.
Before proceeding, just wanted to give a background. We joined DA in November 2020 (late; since it was the Covid year) and had almost our first 4 semesters in online mode. Also, the administration did change the BTech curriculum a bit after our batch, mostly by rearranging the courses and removing a few. Overall those changes are great in my opinion.
Disclaimer: This post doesn't aim to demean any of the professors or degrade the academic domain of courses. This is an opinion thread of a student's experiences.

Semester - 1

  1. Basic Electronic Circuits: It's an extension to the Electronic circuits (AC/DC, transistors, etc.) which we studied in 12th. The course would be helpful in the future courses of EL in better understanding the circuits. But, apart from that, it would serve no use if you are going to pursue a software career.
    1. Professors: The professors (Srimanta Mandal and Anjan Ghosh) are boring, and whatever they teach you in class would completely help in acing the exam. You have to study by yourself and do some practice.
    2. Assignments: Straight from the textbooks which they recommend. You can easily find solutions on the internet.
    3. Grading: Gave decent grades.
  2. Calculus: One of the first mathematics course. again an extension of the calculus you studied in 12th, so a bit easy to catch up and learn. The course provides a solid foundation in advance calculus problems and would become helpful in some courses of data science or machine learning.
    1. Professors: Nabin Sahu is a great professor. Has knowledge and solves doubts too. You should just remain a sincere student in class. If you all as a batch irritate him frequently, then mark my words, he would give you shit grades. That wasn't the case with us, but with the juniors batch. He gave decent grades. But Manoj Raut is a bad prof, doesn't know how to teach, would just say random shit in class which doesn't make sense to you. So stay away.
    2. Assignments: Same as BEC. straight from textbooks. find solutions on the internet.
    3. Grading: Good. Don't disturb Nabin Sahu much and he would give good grades. If you dare to disturb him in the class, be prepared for his wrath :)
  3. Engineering Design Workshop: Honestly have zero idea why this course exists. They would teach you AutoCAD, some mechanical tools and concepts, and would give you a project at the end of the course. In offline, the project part is a bit interesting. But the rest of the course is just useless to say the least.
    1. Professor: Anil Roy a senior psycho professor takes the course. Beware of his Dissociative identity disorder (DID). On some days he would be chill and would crack jokes in the class. but when he gets triggered (and trust me it's quite hard to predict what triggers him) he will ensure that it's unbearable to attend the lecture.
    2. Assignments: He gives the same assignments every year. Probably ask your seniors for it.
    3. Grading: If you are girl student, he would treat you softly by default and you have a good chance to score better grades, just by buttering. I know this sounds very sexist, but the prof himself is a sexist person. For the guys, just be sincere if you want good grades. Otherwise he does a decent grading.
  4. Language and Literature: I really enjoyed the course. It's the first humanities course you would study in the college. We had a very great prof, Shweta Garg, who made the course interesting to go through. You would have multiple different readings and class discussions. See humanities courses have polarizing opinions. Some like it, some don't. My advice: They help you improve your communication skills a lot (which is crucial for the outside/corporate world) and give you different perspectives to look at life. So I like them (most of).
    1. Professor: Shweta Garg is a nice professor to have discussions with in class. But sadly she left the institute a year back. But I have heard the new professor, Amishal Modi, is also very chill and teaches the course in an interesting manner.
    2. Assignments: These are something where you might have to give efforts as they are based sometimes on the readings and classroom discussions. The group project is also very interesting exercise.
    3. Grading: Good grading. Take care of your exams, and participate in classroom discussions. that would help.
  5. Introduction to Programming (and its Lab): The course teaches C language starting from the basics. If you learnt it in your 10th/12th, it would give you an edge. But if not, the course teaches you from scratch. It is very helpful in building the foundation for learning programming. For the exams, slides are 60-70%. And you can read the Let Us C book for added knowledge.
    1. Professors: Manish Khare and Bakul Gohel would teach simultaneously. Both are good profs. Bakul sir has better knowledge imo, Manish sir would bore you out with his teaching. But you can navigate this course by yourself too without attending lectures, with the help of youtube, peers, TAs.
    2. Assignments: Good assignments. would recommend to do them yourself rather than copying. It would help you polish your skills.
    3. Grading: Good grading. You can score well with efforts in exam and assignments.

Semester - 2

  1. Approaches to Indian Society: A humanities course. The lectures were boring for me. But the project was interesting. The readings which they provide are a great read.
    1. Professor: Bharani Kollipara is a very chill professor. In the final presentation too, he won't ask scathing questions, instead discuss different aspects of the group project.
    2. Assignments: Same what I told before. you might have to do them by yourself as they are reading based.
    3. Grading: Chill. Just ace your presentation and exam (exam is not fairly easy too).
  2. Data Structures (and Lab): A very helpful course in building the foundations for programming. The profs are very strict. But I will suggest if you really put in your time in this course, it would definitely help you while preparing for your placements (as you would have understood the basics of DSA). Also in the Lab, they would teach you Object Oriented Programming, which would also be a solid foundation for your placement prep.
    1. Professor: V Sunitha is an extremely strict professor. She doesn't teach properly and the classes are quite boring. Instead you can learn through youtube. But the attendance part makes it necessary to attend the lectures.
    2. Assignments: I will suggest to do them yourselves. the lab work too.
    3. Grading: If you want good grades, just remain a sincere student in her class. If you as a batch create nuisance, she won't give good grades.
  3. Discrete Mathematics: Mathematics course. It's also helpful in your future courses. I didn't focus on the course during my time. and later whenever the concepts from this came, I had to go and revise/refresh that topic. But you would have to do self study more, because the profs don't teach much in detail. Tutorials and exams are moderate, and for solving them, you need to study things apart from the classroom teachings.
    1. Professor: Rahul Muthu is a chill prof, but understanding what he teaches in the class is difficult. Not all can grasp what he is teaching. Manish Gupta also teaches in other section and it's easier to understand.
    2. Assignments: Can be solved with the help of internet. some of them are textbook problems only.
    3. Grading: depends on the prof's mood and the class. If your batch makes nuisance, they would be strict on the grading.
  4. Digital Logic Design: It's all about gates and Logic design. Now the course is a bit tweaked and the syllabus is modified somewhat. The course is fairly easy to understand.
    1. Professor: Vinay Palaparthy can be considered one of the chillest profs in DA. Just attend the lectures and he would tell you 90% of the question paper :) If not, you can just attend the lectures before the exam too. He has good knowledge, but also knows that BTech guys here are less interested in EL courses. so he has a very chill vibe.
    2. Assignments: Quite easy to solve.
    3. Grading: Chill. Vinay sir means chill grading policy.
  5. Introduction to Communication Systems: It was the first CT course for our batch. But, now according to the new curriculum this course is shifted to 4th sem. 50-60% of the curriculum is really interesting, but as soon as you hear the words Fourier Transformation (one of the most dreadful topics :) ) things start to go above your head. I am not saying impossible, but you might have to give some time digesting those concepts. Overall, it introduces some great topics, which are overall helpful in further CT courses.
    1. Professor: "No-nonsense person" - A perfect definition to suit professor Yash Vasavada. That guy has a ton of knowledge in very diverse domains. But, you know, sometimes people feel bored in his lectures because of his slow pace in teaching. I particularly liked the coursework, so remained engaged in the lectures.
    2. Assignments: One peculiar thing about Prof vasavada, is he would give assignments which require your effort. MATLAB is your companion here.
    3. Grading: If you give good presentation, your chances of getting better grades increases. The exams are somewhat moderate to tough.

Semester - 3

  1. Design and Analysis of Algorithms: The other half to make your fundamentals of DSA strong. The course introduces you to the basics of algorithms. You will learn sorting, searching, tree/graph traversals, etc. Most of the times, the profs rush through the end topics which is a downside because the tree and graph traversals are quite important to learn for DSA, CP, placements, etc. So, once you get a good grip of the concepts, start solving "basic" questions on DSA platforms like Leetcode, Hackerrank, etc.
    1. Professor: The teaching profs of this course keep changing generally. We had Supantha Pandit who is a chill prof. But, the classes are boring to attend.
    2. Assignments: Again I would say, do them by yourself - don't copy. That would help for your own benefit.
    3. Grading - Depends on prof, but in general it's chill.
  2. Electromagnetic Theory: An extension to the EMT which you studied in 12th. Don't know why this course exists and how it helps. It would be helpful for a very small set of students who want to pursue the electronics domain (maybe).
    1. Professor: We had Mukesh Tiwari and Arnab Ray. Both have an amazing set of knowledge in this domain. I was in Mukesh Tiwari's section. He teaches very well and it's easier to grasp the concepts compared to other courses' profs.
    2. Assignments: Since we were in the online mode, our tutorials were chill. Mostly textbook questions, which you can find solutions online.
    3. Grading: Decent.
  3. Groups and Linear Algebra: The third mathematics course. I personally like algebra, and this was an extension of the 12th class algebra, so I really enjoyed the course. (Honestly, I didn't study at all for this course during the sem, and got to know about the course content only during exam time, so have a bit of regret). Again this course would be helpful indirectly in understanding some programming concepts (you can trust me on this).
    1. Professor: Aditya Tatu and Rahul Muthu were the profs. Aditya Tatu teaches well and we used to see his lecture's recording only for the exams. Rahul sir's lectures didn't make much sense for me personally.
    2. Assignments: Easy to moderate. Many of them textbook questions but some unique ones.
    3. Grading: Decent (but this opinion differs batch to batch). For exams, you would have to study the concepts in better detail (Gajendra Purohit's YT playlist is a gem for this).
  4. Signals and Systems: A CT course. Comparatively an easy one I can say. As it is more logical and a bit less theoretical. Don't know where it helps apart from future CT courses.
    1. Professor: We had Rajib Lochan Das, but I don't think he is now in the institute.
    2. Assignments: mostly Textbook questions, some different.
    3. Grading: We had a decent grading. But greatly depends on the prof.
  5. Computer Organization: I think in the recent curriculum this course is merged with that Digital Logic Design one. So only some portions of what we studied would come for you. It is a decent course. Gives an overview of the kernel and assembly language coding.
    1. Professor: We had prof Amit Bhatt, but he is currently not a part of the institute. He had good subject matter knowledge.
    2. Assignments: mostly easy ones.
    3. Grading: we had a chill one, but depends on who the prof is.
  6. Science, Technology, and Society: The only HM course I hated. The curriculum wasn't interesting enough for me. I didn't even understood what the readings tried to convey, what the project meant and what the professor wanted as an outcome from the project, and many things.
    1. Professor: Shefali Jha was a bit boring (personal opinion, other people might differ). She is a feminist kinda person and favours girls a bit more. even talks more with them in class discussions.
    2. Grading: If you can impress the prof in presentation then you would get good grades. Also class interactions matter.

Semester - 4

  1. Probability, Statistics, Information Theory: The last mathematics course. It's an extension of the Probability and Statistics of 11-12th. The course is really good, and is helpful. From the perspective of placements too, the course is helpful, since many companies ask MCQs on these.
    1. Professor: We had the OG Gagan Garg. A chill and humorous prof. But now, he also has left the institute. Madhukant Sharma who teaches now, is a bit terrible prof. So take care of his grading policy.
    2. Assignments: Mostly textbook questions.
    3. Grading: Depends on prof. Madhukant has a stricter one. Exams were fairly straightforward for us, mostly similar to tutorial ques. But, you might have to confirm with the current batches.
  2. Analog Communication and Transmission Line Theory: A CT course. Mostly theoretical. somewhat boring too.
    1. Professor: Deepak Ghodgaonkar teaches this. He would give you textbook snippet PDFs and just mug up those sections by heart, because he would just ask those same things as it is in the paper. Just pour out jo tumne ratta mara. :)
    2. Grading: Reiterating the above point. If you can mug up things, remember them precisely word to word, you can score in exams.
  3. Analog Circuits: An EL course. Extension of the BEL course of 1st sem. Don't know where this course helps apart from EL electives. Learning electronic circuits was tough thing for me, so try to learn that out.
    1. Professor: Rutu Parekh is a chill and amazing person. If you are a gujju and can do great vaato, you have chances of getting good grades.
    2. Assignments: moderate.
    3. Grading: Exams would majorly determine your grades.
  4. Systems Software: A course similar to Operating Systems but a more foundational one. You would learn Linux, Threading, etc. I really liked the course and found it helpful too later in different aspects.
    1. Professor: Amit Mankodi is an amazing prof with great knowledge and good teaching style. You just have to just catch his speed of teaching, as he covers a lot in each lecture. I would say, he is the most systematic prof, as he keeps the lectures, code files and many other things organized pretty well.
    2. Assignments: Quite intuitive and interesting to solve. Would suggest not to copy and do them yourselves.
    3. Grading: The exams are on the tougher side. And hence it is a bit difficult to get 9/10.
  5. Environmental Studies: Another HM course but termed as an SC course. Prof Vasavada teaches a lot and provides excessive content against the lower number of credits the course has. A fairly easy course to go through. But have to mug up a lot of content for exams.
    1. Professor: Yash Vasavada is quite dedicated in teaching the course. But at some time, it becomes exhausting with the detailed content.
    2. Assignments: Not many. Majorly a group project.
    3. Grading: If you put up a great presentation, chances of receiving good grades are high.
  6. Engineered Materials: I won't say anything about this course, since it has been removed now. Can write a complete thread ranting about Anil Roy, but don't want to waste my time. If at all this course comes up as an elective, my advice, don't take it. The course has nothing to offer, neither the prof.

Semester - 5

  1. Digital Communications: Another CT course. It's not completely theoretical and somewhat interesting. Personally I found Digital part to be more easy to grasp than the Analog part. But still a lot of mugging up of theory and derivations of formulae.
    1. Professor: Deepak Ghodgaonkar and Abhishek Jindal. Deepak Ghodgaonkar literally just reads out paragraphs from the textbook snips and doesn't teach anything. Jindal sir does teach some concepts. He seems a chill prof, but is slightly cunning so beware in your interactions.
    2. Grading: As mentioned earlier, Deepak sir would make a purely theoretical paper, straight from the textbook snippets. On the other hand, Jindal sir would give more practical (solving problems) type questions. So be prepared to do a mix of both. They generally divide in either of these manner: Each prof makes paper of each insem or they both make 50-50 percent of the paper. The grading is based on exams mostly.
  2. Principle of Economics: Really interesting course from the name. I also enjoyed it a fair part. It covers many fundamental topics and that was the best part. Finance folks would enjoy the curriculum.
    1. Professor: We had both new profs - Cyril Jos and Gaurav Kumar Singh. Gaurav sir was chill as hell in class, he would just go past his ppt and explain things (along with saying "Right" 100-200 times in a lecture :) ). Cyril sir just whiz past through his ppt and covers a ton of topics in every lecture and you can't grasp everything for sure. And it really becomes a pain in the ass when going through those 500-600 pages PPTs during insem prep.
    2. Grading: We had a really chill grading done. But further batches faced stricter policies, so ask your immediate seniors for better knowledge.
  3. Database Management Systems: An important course as it covers SQL. PostgreSQL and PgAdmin would be your buddies. The course would cover for almost 60-70% placement prep for you, so would suggest to learn properly. The profs are mid. So you might have to learn some things yourselves too. Overall a very helpful course.
    1. Professor: (Different profs take the course from batch-to-batch) We had Minal Bhise and Rachit Chhaya. Minal Bhise is a typical old atrocious bitch professor. She doesn't know how to teach much. Rachit sir on the other hand is a chill prof and teaches well too.
    2. Assignment: I would suggest to do them yourselves, considering the importance of the course. Most of the lab work, they would ask you to complete in lab only.
    3. Grading: Shit grading policy. Minal Bhise, being the senior prof, dictated the grading policy and gave good grades to very few people.
  4. Embedded Hardware Design: Ohh man. What should I say. Our batch had its worst nightmare in this course. Initial two months both the profs didn't teach much and most of the lectures got cancelled. And then the prof just had some mood swings at the end of the course and awarded shittiest grades we ever saw. The course project (programming elevator) was same for each group, yet he was disappointed from everyone.
    1. Professor: We had Biswajit Mishra and Vinay Palaparthy. Just stay away from Biswajit as far as you can. If someone can give competition to Anil Roy, it's Biswajit. Vinay sir was really chill and infact he did give some hints also about the question paper during lectures. But Biswajit decided on the grading part (again because he was a senior prof). BUT, if you have Tapas Kumar Maiti as prof, it would be somewhat chill course (Our juniors had him).
    2. Assignments: If you get that elevator project, do it somewhat properly, to save your grades.
    3. Grading: Biswajit dictated the grading and gave really bad grades. He even changed the policy in the middle of the semester.
  5. Computer Networks: Somewhat important course as it covers a fundamental domain of Computer Science - Networks. I really enjoyed the lectures and the course in general. The prof was good, exams were also not that difficult and provided good set of knowledge. Some companies do ask CN in their tests/interviews, so this would become helpful for sure.
    1. Professor: PS Kalyan Sasidhar is a great prof. Has subject knowledge, knows hows to teach, and doesn't have any nakhre.
    2. Assignments: Easy ones. Would suggest doing them by yourselves, as there is a lab viva too.
    3. Grading: Chill policy. If you are above average, you would get >=8 for sure.
  6. (ELECTIVE) Optimization: I took Opti, some people took other courses too. Won't say this is the best option or so, you can take a course as per your interest. But one important thing - Take optimization as elective only and only if Manish Kumar is the prof. If Manoj Raut is teaching, stay away. The course is very chill teaches 3 main important formulae/methods which are the only things you need to learn. The only skill which you require is good maths (Not advance, but good at subtraction, addition, multiplication, division) and patience.
    1. Professor: Manish Kumar teaches well. You can attend the lectures and would just have to revise the formulae before exams and you are all set. DONT GO IF THERE IS MANOJ RAUT teaching the course. If some other prof, then ask around, before taking.
    2. Assignments: Chill.
    3. Grading: Our seniors had chill grading. Our was moderate. But, you need to ensure that your calculations are precise and proper in exams, because those are very statistical and long calculations spanning 2-3 pages.

Semester - 6

  1. Software Engineering: My first impressions were that most of the course content is not at all helpful. When you attend the lectures, you think, why am I studying this (though being an IT course). But later I realised the profs are bad at teaching. The concepts taught and asked in exams are in general helpful in real world (Class Diagrams, and all those diagrams, Agile, etc.) But, they don't even focus on such aspects. Believe it or not, the slides go beyond 800 when you read them for your exams, but doesn't have even 10% helpful information in there.
    1. Professor: Saurabh Tiwari and Manish Khare. Saurabh sir still teaches somewhat better but is very strict. He catches people who sneak out of the lectures in between (yes it's happened in our batch couple of times). Manish Khare doesn't know anything. Neither his slides nor he himself makes any sense in general.
    2. Project: I would suggest you to contribute in the group project of this course. They ask you to develop a full fledged software application in group. Pick a team (frontend/backend doesn't matter) and learn atleast one new language/technology. The project and your skill would be a great add to your resume.
    3. Grading: Moderate to decent.
  2. (ELECTIVE) Econometric Data Analysis with R: A new course at our time so I took it. If you like Data Analysis, this is a good course. It would teach you great stuff. Gaurav Kumar Singh is a mid prof. You will understand a few things, but would have to learn other concepts by yourself. Many good concepts of Probability and Statistics are covered in this.
    1. Professor: Gaurav Kumar Singh has a background of Economics and Data Analysis so he has good knowledge. But his teaching is just decent not good. But a really nice and chill prof.
    2. Assignments: Easy to moderate. If you are interested in Data Analysis field, would suggest to do them yourselves.
    3. Grading: Moderate. He did somewhat stricter grading. But that was also because less people attending his lectures and he didn't like that.
  3. (ELECTIVE) Human Computer Interaction: I really don't know how the Deans and other senior members approved this to be a full fledged course. The course content is so minimal, and chill, every year, the seats fill up and the registrations of this course exceed the limit. I am not demeaning the domain, but I think there are more things which could fit in. If you like designing or want to go in UI/UX, this course would help. Anyways, it's a win-win situation for you, if you get this elective. It's very chill and you literally have a lot of high chance of scoring a 10 pointer very easily.
    1. Professor: P S Kalyan Sasidhar, as mentioned earlier, is a chill no-nonsense prof. He passionately teaches the course.
    2. Assignments: Actually the assignments are really interesting as it requires you to think in a different approach. The prof has designed them really well.
    3. Grading: Chill. You can easily get good grades >=8.
  4. (ELECTIVE) Operating Systems: Another important course from placements perspective. Also a very foundational course for Computer Science in general. I really enjoyed this one too as the prof (also read below more about the prof) as good knowledge of subject matter and taught really well. You can attend all the lectures and 70-80% prep for your exams are done. Threads, Locks, Semaphores, Memory management etc are the concepts you would learn.
    1. Professor: Take the course if Prof Anish Mathuria is taking (even sem). Don't take it, if Sanjay Srivastava is taking (odd sem). Sanjay sir does very strict grading.
    2. Assignments: Easy to Moderate.
    3. Grading: Moderate. You can score good grades. If you don't attend the lectures, then also the slides and practice questions of Anish sir would help you out.
  5. (ELECTIVE) Indian Cinema: This was being offered for the first time and I took the course. One of my best decisions. If you like films, want to learn about the history of Bollywood, and some concepts about art in films, take this course. The prof arranges weekly streaming of films where we see a new film from different genres, different decades, different languages (Indian still). Don't expect to see mainstream Bollywood. But, if you are film connoisseur, you would enjoy the course. Engage in class discussions too.
    1. Professor: Jenson Joseph is a really nice prof. He has subject domain knowledge and teaches well too. Discussions with him are also interesting in lectures.
    2. Assignments: Very few.
    3. Grading: We had a very chill grading. Take care of your presentation, make a good one, put in efforts. And if you attended the lectures, your exams would also go well. If he remembers your name/face (in a good manner, good student) you would get good grades.
  6. (ELECTIVE) Cloud Computing: Would introduce you to the cloud and its subdomains. The prof would teach you about Azure and other concepts. Some placement companies do have Cloud Computing knowledge as requirements, so this might help. Not a deal breaker course, but a chill one.
    1. Professor: Lavneet Singh is a chill prof, has subject domain knowledge and teaches well.
    2. Assignments: Moderate. Some are tough too.
    3. Grading: Decent. You can easily get >=7.
  7. (ELECTIVE) Exploratory Data Analysis: Ideally, this is an introductory course for the MSc DS students. But is open for BTech folks too. Gopinath Panda is a very chill prof and the course also is like a breeze of air (very chill). If you like Data Analysis, take this.
    1. Professor: Gopinath Panda is a chill prof. I don't know if he has a background in this domain, but teaches decently.
    2. Grading: Very Chill. Just do your project well and submit lab assignments timely. All set.

Semester - 7

  1. (ELECTIVE) Information Retrieval: This elective requires higher CGPA to take, because it is actually intended for MTech ML Students, but is opened for BTech. This was a gem of course as it challenged me and I felt rewarded going through each assignment/project/exam as I learned something new. This course lies in the domain of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and towards the end, you also get an overview of how LLM works. There is a bit of steep learning curve, but attending the lectures would help. We had a very nice professor taking the course, and he explained things very well. If you prior knowledge of Machine Learning (Neural Networks) it helps in the later part of the course.
    1. Professor: Sandip Modha is a really great prof. He has a good knowledge in the subject domain and is passionate in teaching. But he was a visiting faculty, and generally Prof Prasenjit Majumder takes the course. But you can have him as well too, as he is also a good prof.
    2. Assignments: Moderate to Difficult. Google Colab would be your buddy. If you really want to learn, do the assignment by yourselves. Or if you are using chatGPT, know what the code does.
    3. Grading: Put efforts in the group project. The presentation would help you get good grades, if your project is good. Remain around or above average in exams for >=9, otherwise expect around 8 grade.
  2. (ELECTIVE) Big Data Processing: This course introduces you to NoSQL databases. Overall it's really helpful because in modern software applications, NoSQL databases are present. You need to put efforts in learning the concepts as the Prof doesn't teach that well. I really liked the course along with the project as it was really interesting to learn and easy to understand. The course is very logical and intuitive to understand. But, The latter part of the course becomes more theoretical where DynamoDB comes up, so you would have to mug those up for exams.
    1. Professor: P M Jat is a nice chill prof. He teaches decently, but puts attendance policy, so you have to attend the lectures. He would randomly pin point people in class and ask questions from previous lectures. But doesn't have much nakhre.
    2. Assignments: Easy to Moderate.
    3. Grading: Put efforts in the project, if you ace that, then chances of good grades are high. The exams are mostly objective and some subjective.
  3. (ELECTIVE) Introduction to Modern Algebra: Funny story: Out of more than 100 students registered for this course, only 5 people attended the lectures. Reason being, its content is very similar to the Groups and Linear Algebra course, so it was quite easy to go through this course. The prof might change the curriculum a bit in future. But until then, take this course up, it would be easy to go through.
    1. Professor: Sudip Bera is a new prof. He initially provided lecture notes as well as typed latex notes. But when students didn't attend his lectures (obviously because he was providing such neat and tidy notes) he stopped giving those. Still a chill prof.
    2. Grading: It was very dicey to score in exams, as they were the only grading component. He gave 25 mark question paper, with just 5 questions, each 5 marks. If you get something wrong in one question, no partial marks awarded. So you either get 5 or 0 for a question. But, if you have prepared decently, you can get a 7/8 (and that's only what normal students aim in 7th sem).
  4. (ELECTIVE) Human Behaviour Management: Another weird HM course. Although it was quite chill to pass through, I personally didn't like the prof. Nandini Banerjee is a strange feminist prof who would just victim card females (out of no context). The course didn't require much effort as such. Attend lectures, interact with the prof, put your logical opinions, and put some efforts in project.
    1. Professor: Nandini Banerjee is a counsellor on campus, but I would refrain someone to go to her for any kind of counselling (trust me have heard many other people's accounts too and all of them have bad experiences). She has very less subject knowledge, discusses random topics in the classroom, and would give a mix of slides assembled from various sources. Don't worry hearing all this, you can still take the course, if you don't want much load in your 7th sem. It's not that bad too.
    2. Assignments: Some book readings and other group activities.
    3. Grading: Put in efforts in your presentation. Do a skit in it. Just impress the prof, so you atleast get a 7. Then perform good in exams and make it 8/9.
  5. (ELECTIVE) Detection and Estimation Theory: Just don't take this course. Srimanta Mandal is the prof and doesn't teach quite well, makes the course boring. If I have to summarize in one line, "He teaches plain rice in lectures, and asks Hyderabadi Biryani with Curd Raita in exams". Staying away from this course would be in the best of your interest.

Is it just gem levels? I know I can min max my gems higher but he has almost 200 more ehp than me is there something I’m just not understanding with pob and he’s not actually that tanky or am I just missing some significant things? As far as my tiny understanding from pob it seems I have similar stats but his ehp is just significantly higher. I just want an occultist build that rarley if ever gets one shot in t17s and is fun to play .

2024.05.08 06:31 SimilarOwl1064 REALITY OF NEET

After giving NEET thrice I have reached to this conclusion (even though I am not scoring so much to get a seat ,check my last post for same)
So NEET exam is not some big or tough exam like JEE advance or UPSC , it’s just another college entrance even if you have studied class 11 &12 sincerely in your school you can easily crack it ,even AG sir (physics teacher ex Allen HOD) says the same thing always . We all have just made a big deal out of it in our head and trust me when I say this NEET physics se zyada level boards wali physics ka hota h .
My biggest mistake was I always thought of NEET to be some very big exam and lost the calm during exam ,got anxious about failing the exam during exam. Some final conclusions:-
1)No you don’t need to study 12hrs a day. 2)Tests are important-but not for flexing your score but for learning from your mistakes and learning time management. 3)in online for teacher selection, don’t be a part of bhed chaal, RN you have sufficient time explore teachers, detailed one shots are best to judge a teacher , everyone has diff preferences. Yes I absolutely don’t like how MR sir teaches and how MD sir complicates everything in inorganic chem but Yogesh sir for organic is a gem acc to me (so again find your own favourites) 4) kamra band karke working your ass off is for last 1-2months abhi proper breaks lo ,go for a movie or maybe shopping (I read a lots of post here ,how they are giving up on everything for NEET, you don’t need to) 5) everyone has different journey, don’t compare 6) Don’t waste your precious time behind this exam , 2drops are more than sufficient 7)Start early -11th or maybe 12th don’t wait for taking a drop. 7) PRIORITISE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH
These were some of my opinions and yours can totally be opposite and comments are open for the same.
PS:- this post was not demean someone , I know people work really hard for this exam, this is just what I felt after 2years of my preparation.

2024.05.08 02:00 iliketheanonymosity Want advice/ Need to rant

Disclaimer: all the moral police people, if you wanna judge me, send hate, etc, please walk away. Im not looking for a lecture here.
So, Im not one for writing long posts on reddit, in fact, l’m a lurker most of the time, but I wanted some advice/ just wanted to see some unbiased opinions. I F(24) am dating a European guy, and we plan on getting married. However, I know my parents would not react great to this (as they’re kinda religious and very desi mentality). My mother thinks all “goray” are the same, and they’re not sincere or loyal to anyone. While some, well many foreigners can be a bit weird/ different than what we’re used to, the guy I’m with is actually a gem. He’s better than most Pakistani muslims I know here (europe), and even back home (Islamabad). Most pakistani guys/girls here smoke/drink etc. Not that I’m judging them, to each their own ofc. But they just have the label of being a “muslim”. The guy Im with doesn’t even drink, and he’s a great person generally. He’s a better guy than any other guys Ive known back home. But I know my folks wouldn’t be okay with him just because he doesnt have the muslim label. On the other hand, if it was a muslim i was seeing, they’d be okay with him, even if he was a shit person.

2024.05.04 04:32 katanddog 2,000 Names (and their meanings) For Your Baby Girl found from a Vintage Mennen Company Booklet

My mom passed along this booklet that belonged to my grandmother when we were expecting. Figured I would share it here before discarding it. The Boy Name list is already posted 😊 Enjoy!
WHAT'S IN A NAME
Don't let the meanings concern you. Think instead of how the name will fit the child, when the child is grown, or known. Choose the name with care. It's very important to your baby-all through life. Here are some guides: - Say each name aloud, along with your own family name, to check rhythm and sound. - Use soft first names with sharp-sounding family names. - Use multi-syllable first names with short family names. - Avoid using a first name that ends with the same sound that starts the last name, such as "Jane Nevins." - Avoid "famous combinations" such as "Abraham" and "Lincoln." - Watch out for initials that spell out familiar letters, like “S. O. S”

2024.05.03 08:06 InformalFroyo I hate Shar and her gauntlet

I’m a little confused in my first play through and want to see if anyone can give me some advice.
I’ve completed the Gauntlet of Shar challenges but judging from other discussions here my play through seems like it was a little out of order. One of the first things that happened with me was meeting and bargaining with the rats. They let me poke around a treasure room but I can’t for the life of me remember where it is. After that, I undertook all the challenges.
After the challenges and the library, I killed Yurgir and remembered to collect the gem near him. I’ve also just met Balthazar and he wants me to clear out a place, but I can’t figure out where. After meeting Balthazar, I went back to the pedestal and realized I needed a fourth gem and have been driving myself up a wall trying to figure out where this thing could be. When I interact with the first pedestal, Shadowheart says we have all the gems needed to progress.
Since she’s in the game and must know more than me, I checked through every character’s inventory and the camp one to see if the gem might be there by mistake. Nothing. I’ve even backtracked to each challenge’s location and can’t find the damn thing.
I think I might have messed up my play through by meeting the rats first because I even went down to Shar’s feet and didn’t meet up with them or a full bodied Lythindor again. Do they even give you a gem though? Or do I need to go ahead and kill Balthazar or clear out the place that he wants me to take care of to get the gem from him? If either of those is true, why is Shadowheart lying to me when I just want her to like me and give me a kiss?
EDIT: Thanks everyone. I am now aware of knock and that Balthazar and the rats have no gems to speak of.
I’ll likely keep trying to find the thing in packs or at trial locations because this is no longer just about opening a door. This is about accomplishing something, being able to look myself in the mirror and saying “you’re worth it.”
More likely than not though, I’ll just knock.
Also, just in case you read some of my jokes as sincere in some of the comments: don’t worry, I’m just having fun.
EDIT 2: DAMN THING WAS IN ONE OF MY BACKPACKS

From the moment we stepped into Jetwing Galle Heritage Home, we were enveloped in a warm embrace of Sri Lankan hospitality. The staff greeted us with genuine smiles and the traditional blessing of 'Ayubowan', setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable stay.
Nestled away from the bustling coastal areas yet conveniently close to the iconic Galle Fort, this beautifully restored villa felt like a sanctuary. The attention to detail in preserving the region's architectural heritage was evident in every corner, seamlessly blending modern comforts with timeless charm.
Our room exuded a sense of tranquility, adorned with elegant furnishings that reflected the essence of local culture. The gentle breeze wafted through the open windows, carrying with it the soothing sounds of nature, creating a serene ambiance that invited relaxation.
One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the exceptional service provided by the staff. Each interaction was marked by genuine warmth and a sincere desire to ensure our comfort and satisfaction. Whether it was recommending the best spots to explore in Galle or preparing authentic Sri Lankan delicacies, their dedication to hospitality was truly commendable.
During our time at Jetwing Galle Heritage Home, we felt not like guests, but like cherished members of a welcoming family. Every moment spent here was infused with a sense of homeliness that made it difficult to bid farewell.

Thank you, Jetwing Galle Heritage Home, for an unforgettable stay. Ayubowan indeed!
