I followed a random recipe I found online to make bread for sandwiches. It came out kind of cake looking? The dough seemed really wet but I just kept letting it proof, adding flower periodically. What did I do wrong? And how do I get it to be one of those breads that is crusty on top and airy/chewy in the middle?

Like all Rod events, the room is more filled with junk than people. Looks like some money was spent. The Rodlets all appear to be wearing clothes that fit. The meal is a paper bowl filled with a half sandwich some chips (?) olives, and I don’t know what else. Nurie’s friend that invited her and Nemo for a tea party is here, but I thought she was from Florida. There’s what look like a generic of those International Coffee mixes that were popular in the 80s. Hannah needs to step away from the tweezers. There’s really not many people here besides the Rods. Part 2 coming up.

i gained 30 lbs in about 2 years. i feel bloated and shitty and hate that my favorite clothes dont fit anymore.
the thing is that ive lost 50+ lbs before, i know how to do it deep down. ive felt so much grief and depression that i am talking to my doctors about some loss of cognitive function. i used to cook all the time and loved it, now i buy the same ingredients but i'm so tired and hazy that even with a recipe and the help of adderall it is so hard to piece together the steps and put them into action
i don't look forward to anything. ive been trying to date for years but nothing has worked out. ive been trying new hobbies but i dont enjoy anything, its just like checking off the boxes and going thru the motions, its all just another chore
the only thing i look forward to is eating. i don't even have any particular food i like, most things don't taste that good. i just think eating is the only thing that gives my brain any sort of dopamine. i get excited at the grocery store when i'm picking out what i'm gonna eat. i always say i'm going to pace myself and save it. when i came home last night, i set the grocery bags down and before even putting anything away and before i knew it i had torn open three different snacks, nuts protein bars and crackers, and was already stuffing my face. i ate most of it and felt very ashamed afterward. still tried to make protein pasta for dinner and had a big bowl so i was full but went back for sandwiches later anyways.
i like my therapist for most things but i dont think she understands why or how i can eat so much. i'm still exercising and trying to find hobbies and all of that but nothing really works.

I recently acquired sourdough starter and had a first attempt at baking homemade sourdough bread (used King Arthur's rustic sourdough bread recipe). The bread was good enough to use for sandwiches, but I'd love some advice of where I went wrong and how to improve in future attempts at making sourdough bread. Generally speaking, I'm very new to bread baking - have only made 2-3 other loaves in the past.
I'd also love some more advice/information on keeping the sourdough starter. From what I've read, it sounds like you should feed it weekly if kept in the fridge. Is that usually the case from your experience? What is the point of getting rid of the discard? How long can you save discard for?

Hey people, just found this community and I really need some place to talk with people that understand me (hopefully). Don't worry, I'm not going to end myself or anything (despite the title).
22 M living with my parents. I'm brazilian so the whole "get out when you are 18" isn't a thing around here. My parents are both from the 60's so old fashioned would be an understatement.
Do you people also stay locked in your room form majority of the day? Because I do. I work fully home office in a company so I have the "best" excuse.
My mother ALWAYS was very very controlling. While in school, always wanting to know what I did in class, how was my day, the name of my friends, etc. But ok, that wasn't that bad. When I started college (2020 🤡) she wanted to know everything also. I studied in the morning, they would pick me up because I still didn't had a car license and getting the bus was a "little" dangerous because of, well, 🇧🇷. And they would always say "why you need to stay on the campus?? We are not going to get you in the middle of the afternoon because of traffic" or some BS. Then came the pandemic, only got worse. My father on the political side, denying the vaccines, my mother completely paranoid with the virus (kinda of understandable) and my sister who married and got out of the house a few years back debating 24/7 with my dad because she is from the health area.
Always that I do something out of the ordinary she just makes as I've killed a person. Such drama. Now I just said to her I'm traveling with my GF to a nearby city and she went "OMG We can't catch a break, when we think everything is OK you do this" and just shut her face off as someone in the family just died or something. And yes, she refers to herself as "we". No, she isn't non binary or anything, I just think she has such a weak mind that can't say "I don't like it".
Why? Because she says the road is dangerous to there (it isn't). Bro I have my license for almost 3 years now, and rode about 30.000Km and a few trips with different cars. I know how to handle myself. She doesn't trust me. She doesn't like if I do anything that she doesn't agree or think "is right". She asks me constantly about my GF and her family, my friends, my coworkers, EVERYTHING. You know why? Because if I say to her "Xavier likes coffee". If I ever say something "Xavier brought his tea bottle today" MONTHS later she will say "what, I was thinking Xavier only liked coffe?"
I have the feeling she wants to know where single thing so she always has something to spit on my face and tell me I'm wrong. Bro, on her BIRTHDAY, we went to a restaurant and I ordered some fried shrimp (the price of regular two plates) because we like as a family but my parents love sea food. I paid it. I'm not kidding, she went about 3 weeks saying stuff like "...I have a rich son that work's at ____" because I bought some shrimp.Just because one time I got my GF to some nice restaurants she does the same. As if I was paying 1000$ per plate. And she talks with so much irony that honestly, doesn't even make me mad anymore. Just sad.
The problem is: I can't go out. I can't get out of my house. The car is mine but if I wanted to sell it to have some cash to start financing a home (don't want to because the car is one of the only forms of freedom I have) I can't. Because the car "is mine". The documents are on my name but you know how it is. They paid for it, it's theirs. Even if legally speaking isn't. Housing is so fucking expensive. Even the first payment (we call it here "Entrada") generally speaking is 20% of the total value of the house, then you finance it for 15,20,30 years depending on your situation). And yes, you can pay that years and years before 30.
The thing is, 20% for a house nowadays in my city in around 50K (300K apartment). My wage is 2,5K/month. How on earth can I do this? Simple, I can't. The only cheaper alternatives are on another cities which is a problem because of my university and job (hybrid).
So here I am, wanting love from my parents, wanting to love them but I can't. My dad is awesome for fixing my car, fixing things around the house, helping me with cosplays. My mom cooks like a chef, I'm little sick now and she went to the market I bought the ingredients that I like for today. But man, that emotional hole, hurts so much.
Yes, their love language is acts of service (both) towards me and my sister but you know, that doesn't compensate. I would rather have a "less loving family" for a more compressible and engaged. In the pandemic I wanted a drumkit, a distant dream. My father built a fucking soundproof studio inside my bedroom and bought me a used drumkit. Best dad ever right?
Yeah, but he also complains about the noise to the neighbors every time that I played and said I could only play until 6pm. Bro the studio is literally SOUNDPROOF. You can only hear a faint sound in the kitchen (right below) because the floor isn't as well isolated. The problem isn't the neighbour. The problem is that they know I'm playing so that troubles them.
My mom said to me "Why won't you sell this drum? You don't even play anymore" well because I'm fucking depressed that's why. She could so much say to me "look, you look sad, why won't you go and play a little? Might cheer you up" or something. Boy I would kill to get this type of love from them.
Everything became "formal". You know, I don't think they love me anymore. They treat me as I was an enemy that wants to spend all my money on futile shit and think the world is all sugar and rainbows. I can't even fake an I love you.
I saw a very pretty quote on Instagram about being a dad, a nice text to send to your old man. But I simply can't. I can't. I want so much because I know they'll be gone "soon" and I want to have pictures. Learn recipes, more about cars and motorcycles. But everything I do is wrong, I'm a dumbass, I'm spending money just on wrong things.
Bro, I wanted freedom. They stared giving me guilt trips.
I didn't want no contact with them, just wanted "go traveling son, go search the unknown, if it ever goes south, you have where to return". No. All they do is shame me for it.
I wanted to do my birthday with my friends in my house. My mom said no. Bro??? But she says going out is "expensive" so How the fuck am I supposed to act?

So it’s Nan bread a single piece of Nan bread you cute and half and place next to each other, you take pesto and you cover one half of the Nan only one side, take chicken or steak left over, or just cooked I like piri piri chicken and steak whatever you like the most, you add goat cheese or regular cheddar or mozzarella, you then add a little paremesan cheese. You close the sandwich put it in a panini grill until it’s grilled the top but not that much just a golden grill and then, cut in half again. Enjoy! I found this recipe for egg salad and it's an easy low points lunch! I use nonfat Greek Yogurt. The fresh dill adds a lot of flavor. Added mustard, sweet pickle relish, and a little yellow curry powder (I don't usually have the avocado with it).
Points: 1 tbsp mayo divided by 4 servings = 1.5 pts if w/o sweet relish. Add bread for additional points, but tastes good on its own.

Cinnamon, elachi, clove (usually pestle and mortar tho dhanchutha, but pic kosam cheyyaledhu and ginger konchem water lo (around 25% water compared to 100% milk) rolling boil varaku maraganivvandi.
Now add respective sugar and let it boil again (we use coconut sugar, andhuke brown ga undhi).
Then add milk and bring it to boil again. Add enough tea powder.
While mixing once in a while, let the milk rise and fall a few times by adjusting the heat. After 2 or 3 times, strain it and enjoy.

I’m following this https://homestead-honey.com/dandelion-soda-recipe/ ginger beer recipe and I thought I’d do the dandelion tea part first and keep it in the fridge while doing the ginger bug as it was convenient. After steeping overnight it became medium brown but after I left it in the fridge overnight it became almost completely black. It smells like grass that was cut a few hours ago and it tastes fine. Is it ok to use in the recipe anyway and does dandelion tea usually look like this? I used only the petals.

Hey all =]
A few days ago, I was having real trouble with not relapsing and going back to use social media. Then I remembered I used to make 'Dumbphone tea', back yonks ago. I found the recipe on a now - defunct digital minimalism site, and lived by it a few years ago =]
Have been YT Shorts free for ages now =]
No idea how it works, it just does. There is no official recipe, just the ingredients, but this is how I do it.
  1. Grate the zest off a lemon.
  2. Squash the juice out of that lemon. Plus, you can add half a lemon more juice if you like.
  3. Mix this together in a bowl, and add the sugar.
  4. Now bring the water to the boil, and add the tea bags.

Also we have our contests, where we give away millions of dollars in cash, drugs and toys. It's insane what we get away with here. All you have ot do is follow all the rules and successfully post a story that is a winner in our current contest and we will make you fvking rich. You'll just go to your bak account and bam! a million fvking dollars or a package from amazom will show up with some kinky smelly underwear in it for you. You'll like it, trust us, we made sure we got it right. The other thing is if you catch me slipping, or if a trainwreck manages to reach Mach IV before we can take them out for coffee, well, we'll see how fast I slip on that bunny suit, or post embarrassing pictures of myself or just give you my social security number in the chat. It's only fair.
Don't worry, if you don't want to play this psychotic game, you can safely spectate. Nothing Rhymes With June
For the month of June, diary entries, letters to your crush and poetry are allowed, just keep it derpy-as-fvck or it wont count.
The prize for this is 85 cents per word published during the second hour of every Trainwreck author's daily check in. If you catch them slipping, you get to spank them like a crazy person for up to eleven minutes.
Tea time is at six, don't forget, we move it ahead one hour in the summer snow.
Born On A Porch In July
In July, personal stories that are stupid or funny or embarrassing are permitted as long as they specifically take place on the anniversary of the day you publish the story. There are no quality removals for these kinds of stories.
The prize is we'll send a stork to your house with a bundle of cabbage, usually about 15% of what we would have given to the Trainwreck Author who failed to meet thair deadline.
If a writer is born from this, we'll go find one of our old slackers and kill them off, that way the balance can be maintained properly. Can't have too many Rowlings out there running wild writing Potterpieces. That would fvck the fictions.
Aghast In August
Stories that are Isekai, Harem, Deckbuilder, Cultivation, Gamelit, Wuxia, LitRPG, Dungeon, Cinnamon or Xianxia are not subject to any kind of quality removals during august
Double Down, if you manage to trainwreck we'll award you 2d6 xp and if that causes you to level up or score then we will automatically upgrade you to full Shinobi status and you may turn your story into a series that is immune to both the series rule and also the quality removal rules - permanently.
Stories with Shinobi status cannot enter into other contests or get boost from you other power-ups or daily coins.
Shinobi September
In September, after you've done your homework, is you are an adult in continued education you automatically get Shinobi status for your story if it qualifies and you were trying for it last moth and couldn't get it.
Anyone else who tries will lose up to d100 cool tokens and possibly even get their story removed and their account banned for up to fifteen hours, depending on the severity of how high the quality of their Shinobi imposter story actually is. Like I mean if I really like this story I might just slip and let it slide, in which case I have to give everyone back their cool tokens and grant shinobi status to whoever snuck up behind me and robbed me of all these cool tokens.

2024.05.15 20:26 ipsum629 Is there a way to combine canned fish with lentil soup?

I want to ask this before I potentially ruin a perfectly good soup.
The two healthiest things I like are lentil soup and canned fish(mainly sardines and salmon). I think canned fish is great and a convenient and cheap way to get omega 3s and good fish protein. Usually I'll make the fish into salad sandwiches or use them in a pasta dish. However, if I could combine the fish with lentil soup, I could have a potentially perfectly nutritionally balanced meal. The soup has almost no fat in it, and fish fat is healthiest fat.
The recipe for the soup is pretty basic, but tasty. Dice up some carrots, celery, and onions and sautee with some olive oil for a bit. Then add some tomato paste and fresh garlic if I have it. Get some of the tomato paste browned, then add a bunch of water and maybe a bit of white wine to deglaze. Add dried green lentils(I use a bag not sure exactly how many lentils that is, but at least two cups, probably closer to three) and simmer until soft. When the lentils are fully cooked, I season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and whatever herbs I have, but almost always basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary. The olive oil at the beginning is very little compared with how much soup this is. Sometimes I sautee some brussel sprouts and throw them in if I have them.
The canned salmon I think wouldn't be too risky to add due to its mild flavor, but the sardines worry me. Sardines are fish flavor bombs, but that flavor doesn't always pair well with everything. Does anyone have any experience with adding these types of fish to lentil and tomato based soups? If this works I could just eat this for the rest of my life because it is dirt cheap, hopefully still tasty, and perfectly healthy.
