I'm a SAHM of a 9 year old daughter and an almost 2 year old son.
Since birth, my son's favorite hobbies have been screaming like a fire alarm and violence. He didn't start speaking until he was 18 months old, and even then I wouldn't call it communication. He just counts. Yes it's amazing that he can count forward and backward 1 through 10, but that's all he does. He toddles around shouting "WUN! TOO! TREE! FUH! FAH!" etc. It's cute if it's not all you hear for 16 hours a day.
He's old enough to understand choice but unable to communicate his needs with words. I pretty much have to guess what he wants and if I get it wrong, which is frequent, I get my eardrums blasted and if I'm too close he will scratch and bite. My arms and face look like I just bathed an army of cats.
We have tried using sign language with some success. He used to use it before he started talking, but he suddenly started refusing.
We also had him evaluated for autism/speech issues, but he doesn't meet the criteria. I think he just has intense emotions and reactions. I have BPD, (Borderline not bi polar) and I think my kids inherited my strong emotions. I have been working with a therapist since my daughter was a baby, for both her and I, to learn how to regulate our emotions. I know how to help my son, and I know we will get him to a stable place, but it is a slow and difficult journey. Just like it has been with my daughter.
I have no village. I'm NC with my mother, my dad lives far away, my MIL is a Facebook grandma, and FIL is dead. However Whenever I talk to my family and try to vent about how hard this is, all I hear back is "Treasure this time now, because you're gonna miss these days!"
I know. I know I'm gonna miss the fun cute moments. My daughter wasn't born a 9 year old, I know what it's like to look at her and remember what a little peanut she was. I also remember how awesome it was the first time she got her own snack and I didn't have to open it or cut it up for her. Or the first time we went to a restaurant and she looked the server in the eye and told them her order. Or how relieved I was when she started having a tantrum but then stopped and took a breath to regulate herself.
I can tell you with 100% certainty that I will not miss being attacked every time I have to change a diaper. I will not miss slicing grapes into eighths only to clean them up off the floor. I will not miss having my fingers chewed to hamburger while I try to scrape potting soil out of his mouth.
I love my kids. I wouldn't change any of it, but damn I can't wait to put it behind me.
Edit: he was evaluated for speech therapy as well as autism and didn't qualify for their services. He CAN say other words he just doesn't seem to want to.

For context, I work with adult offenders. Some have commuted heinous offences, CSA included in that group. When finding out we were expecting last year, my husband and I made it clear from the get go to all our family that we did not want any photos shared on social media of our little one. I know too much and just want my little one (LO) to have privacy and not be exposed to the world. I posted one photo of them when they were born as an announcement. Since then, photos are freely shared in a private chat with family so they all have regular updates as well as us spending lots of time between all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc. Everyone is close and LO sees both sides of the family equally and regularly.
Everyone respects my boundaries and is aware of my job. Everyone respects our wishes except my MIL. She constantly has LO as her profile photo, facebook banner thing, posts her face clearly visible in status updates etc. I could cope with a candid shot, I wouldn't be as upset. But she keeps blatantly posting our LO despite us asking her not to. In every other area she is a great MIL and Grandmother. It's just this shit that's getting to me.

Race is largely to do with appearance, hence Indians are at a disadvantage and dehumanized due to the race and worse appearance. People notice mostly because people are racist to begin with imo. All other ethnicities are far better looking on average than Indians, and though many white people are politically correct, they could tell and Latinos and Asians make fun of Indians openly for being worse looking than them. It's worse when the person is an attractive member of their group. A cute black guy saying that they'd never date Indians because most of us are gross looking. Indians are one of the most well-behaved minorites in the United States yet some of the most mocked. It's not like other countries don't have horrible things going on in them. If we were a well-behaved minority who looked like Arabs (who are incredibly beautiful) I feel like we wouldn't have such a low status. Having a low status and looking grotesque is the worst. Latinos don't come from the best countries but the disgust or disappointment from people who realize I'm not Latino but actually Indian is palpable. Hence I pretend to be Latino or Persian most of the time. If youre thinking about an attractive Indian most people think they look Latino or Arab, the more indigenous look the worst hence the comments "how on earth are you indian? youre attractive?"
