Have him run the Defence and Powerplay and hope he can replicate the magic he had in Boston)
Lane Lambert, Assistant Coach, Forwards Coach / Penalty Kill Coach (While this one is probably the most unlikely thing in the mock I think it could be possible. He only had a season and a half as head coach so I’m not sure it’s out of the question he could consider going back to an assistant role, he has worked with John Gruden in the past so there will be familiarity there. Lane Lambert was in control of the forwards and penalty kill on the islanders, he helped that team with their great two-way play and good penalty kill, so hopefully he can do the same here.)
Nolan Baumgartner, Assistant Coach, Defencemen Coach (Travis Green will likely want to bring in some familiar faces and I think this will be his choice, former assistant to him in Vancouver in both the NHL and AHL)

Mine is in his first game ever I was in the arena and he skated down the right wing and put a slap shot past the goalie from the hash marks. Holy crap did he ever make a statement with that! The arena was electric, and I’ll never forget that moment.
If anyone is going to make the oilers cry I bet Petey is high on that list. Go EP40 go!

OP why do you think he’ll see this- not sure how you got that out of “no idea if he’ll see this”.
Finally, I’ve seen enough research and lived long enough to know that motivation is tricky. Some people (maybe Miller for example) don’t care what anyone thinks and even have a lot of prove you wrong in them. See Millers jersey throwing comments. Others need people to believe in them. Petey may get juiced up when he hears people believe in him. There is no way the Canucks are where they are without him (getting into the playoffs), and therefore he is worth our praise.
IMO If you actually want the Canucks to do well and are a fan then you could use the power you have to help.

Hey guys! I’m joining a learn to play group for the first time as an adult next month, which im super excited for. Unfortunately all this gear is getting a bit pricey, even as I’m getting the gloves, pants, stick, and elbow pads used (I was worried about the shoulder pads and shin protectors fitting so I’m getting those new). Basically my question is whether I need to get a jersey and socks to wear over the gear. I’m planning on leggings, normal athletic socks, and a workout shirt underneath, so I won’t be naked or anything. Any advice would be great! Thanks :) (Also, is tape an essential? And maybe thoughts on mouthguards, I see a lot of hockey players missing a tooth)
EDIT: don’t worry guys! I do have a helmet with a cage! Should’ve mentioned that. Does anyone wear a mouthguard with the helmet? And stick tape, is that absolutely essential or can I go my first practices without it?

Hey everyone, I’ve ordered a football and baseball jersey and have sized up based on recommendations, and so far, so good. I’m thinking about ordering a hockey jersey from pk_jersey. I'm finally moving on from public skate and shooting on asphalt to practicing at stick and puck!
The stick and puck closest to me requires shins and elbows in addition to helmet and gloves. I have a jersey, but am struggling to find pants that fit over my shin pads. Does anyone have recommendations for warm-up pants that fit over shin pads?
As for why I'm not just wearing hockey pants (and shoulder pads): I have to lug my gear in the NYC subway so I only bring what's required.

The reason I ask is because the same thing recently just happen with the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, where they moved the whole team to Utah for this coming season.

Now with me I have two favorite hockey teams... Pittsburgh Penguins (DONT SHOOT ME PLEASE I'M A LIONS FAN AND I ONLY CANT STAND THE PACKERS) and the Winnipeg Jets. We had a Winnipeg Jets hockey team from 1972-1996 but then they ironically became the Phoenix (Later Arizona) Coyotes. But then we got a new Winnipeg Jets in 2011 when the Atlanta Thrashers relocated to Winnipeg. Not the same franchise at all but we carry on the legacy of the original team's name and the original jerseys (as 3rd jerseys and heritage classic games) but not the stats and team history of the original team.

A true sports parent dies twice. There’s the death that awaits us all at the end of a long or short life, the result of illness, misadventure, fire, falling object, hydroplaning car, or derailing train. But there is also the death that comes in the midst of life, the purgatorial purposelessness that follows the final season on the sidelines or in the bleachers, when your sports kid hangs up their skates, cleats, or spikes after that last game.
The passage of time is woeful, and, for a parent, living your dreams through the progress of your progeny is as inevitable as the turning of the Earth. But the sports parent lives the experience in concentrate—a more intense version of the common predicament. You must give up your vicarious hope of big-league glory and let it die. You must part from what, if your kid pursued his passion seriously, had become a routine of away games and early-morning practices, hours in the car, a hot cup of coffee in your cold hand as the sun rose above the Wonderland of Ice, in Bridgeport, Connecticut; the Ice Arena in Brewster, New York; the Ice Vault, in Wayne, New Jersey—home of the Hitmen, whose logo is a pin-striped gangster with a hockey stick. And you’ll suddenly find yourself watching the Stanley Cup playoffs not in the way of a civilian but with the chagrin of knowing that the game’s upper ranks will never include your kid.
One recent morning, courtesy of Facebook Memories, I came across an old picture of my son, a high-school junior who recently announced his decision to quit hockey—to retire! The photo was taken by teammates after a victory at Lake Placid, New York. Sweat-soaked, draped in the arms of friends, grinning like a thief, he looked no less ecstatic than Mike Eruzione after he and his team won Olympic gold in the same arena in 1980.
And me? I was this Eruzione’s old man, waiting with the other parents outside the locker room, experiencing a moment of satisfaction greater than any other I’d known, either as a player or as a fan. I was a car in park with the accelerator pressed to the floor. I was a wall bathed in sunlight. This win was better than the Illinois State Championship I won with the Deerfield Falcons, in 1977. It was better than the Bears’ 1986 Super Bowl victory.

The end began like this: One evening, after the last game of the high-school season, I asked my son if he’d be trying out for spring league. For a youth-hockey kid, playing spring league is the equivalent of a minor-league pitcher playing winter ball in Mexico—so necessary as a statement of intent and means of improvement that forgoing it is like giving up “the path.” Rather than a simple affirmative nod, as I’d expected, I got these words: “I’m going to think about it.” Think about it? For me, this was the same as a girlfriend saying, “We need to talk.”
Only later did I realize that those words were the first move in a careful choreography. My son wanted to quit, but in a way that would not break my heart. He also didn’t want me to rant and rave and try to talk him out of it.
We had reversed roles. He was the adult. I was the child.
He knew he would not be playing college hockey even if he could. With this in mind, he had decided to use his final year of high school to get to know people other than hockey players and spend time in places other than hockey rinks. In the way of a pro with iffy knees nearing the age of 35, he had decided to exit on his own terms. He was not worrying about losing his identity as a player or about missing the camaraderie of the locker room; he was worrying about me. Hockey had been an entire epoch of our father-son life. It had ushered me, the sports parent, out of my 30s, through my 40s, and into my 50s.
.... Because I am human, I tend to blame entities or systems or other people for things that strike me as unfair. As my son progressed, I caught a glimpse, for one fabulous, deluded moment, of the life that he (we, I) would never live: high-school athletic stardom followed by college triumph and possibly even a professional-hockey career. That I knew this was a fantasy—he was never that good—did not make it less powerful. Lost in it, I experienced my life as an NHL fan with new intensity. I was not just watching the Blackhawks; I was scouting, picking up tricks that I could pass to my glory-bound boy. This was a dream that I was too embarrassed to share with anyone, even my wife. I regarded it the way members of the Free French regarded the liberation of Paris: Think of it always; speak of it never. In short, I lost my way. Rather than letting him enjoy the moment and the fact that these seasons were his career, not a preparation or a path toward one, I was constantly scheming about his next move, his next opportunity, his next shot at the big time.
Here’s the worst part: I knew exactly what I was doing. I was attempting to replace my kid’s will with my own. I knew that it was wrong and, worse, counterproductive. The more I pressed, the less he enjoyed the game. The less he enjoyed the game, the worse he played. The worse he played, the more I pressed. Economists call this a negative feedback loop. I knew it but could not stop. It was psychosis.
Maybe the most notorious sports parents suffer from a shared psychological condition. LaVar Ball, Emmanuel Agassi, Earl Woods—those sports dads were all obsessed to the point of being abusive. I prefer to think that I am not; yet, for all the varying degrees of our kid’s success, our predicament is the same. At some point, even if it comes after 20 years in the pros, the set will be rolled away, revealing our true location. Rink parking lot. Beat-up vehicle. Alone. Even the child prodigies will retire.

Hi everyone! long time lurker here
My nephews 6th birthday is coming up, and he's a huge JT Miller fan! I plan on buying a black skate Miller jersey, but wanted to get some sort of signed item as well. I was hoping for a signed puck/photo/something similar. I checked Vanbase and the NHL shop, but i was not able to find any such items. Any advice in this regard would be appreciated!
He is such a huge fan, and this would make his year! I really really want to make this special for him, since he's starting to really get into hockey now, and absolutely loves the canucks and Miller. So any leads or help would be appreciated

The show is in an area that isn't really known for their late night antics so I wouldn't expect much after the show, but you are a short walk uphill through a tunnel to a great night spot, Zizkov.
Transport - Public transportation is great here in the city but make sure that you have a ticket. Download the app from this website and you can buy tickets on your phone. https://pidlitacka.cz/en and I recommend you have a ticket as the IIHF hockey tournament is happening in Prague so we have more visitors than normal and they will be looking to fine tourists. Google maps will also suffice for how to get from one place to another and of course we have ubebolt if you prefer to just get a faster ride.
Beer (Pivo) - It is what this country is known for, Pilsner Urquell is the flagship and if you can find a place that has tankovna it will be even better. Lokal is the big chain around the city and good Czech food with great beer at all places. Around the corner is https://maps.app.goo.gl/YdY9AXdzn42QXsGx6 which has a large indoor place and even tables outside in the back. Dva Kohouty has a nice outdoor area and is walking distance from the show. Bad Flash Karlin has some craft beer quite close to the venue as well. If you just want to grab some bottles BeerGeek Karlin is the spot and they have multiple shops and a bar with 30 taps of beer and decent wings. Download untapped and you can find all the craft beer spots if that is what you are after. Avoid the center for food and drink as you will pay more for sure, but that is the same for any European capital city.
Hockey - As mentioned the IIHF tournament is happening now in Prague and Ostrava so there will be plenty of people wearing jerseys and getting rowdy. There is a fan zone that is free where you can watch on a screen outside and drink and eat with a rowdy environment so if you are into hockey go to Ceskomoravska on the yellow line and you can't miss it. This will also make some places much more crowded as the city is full of people for that, especially if they have TV's as people will be out watching the games.
Partying - Despite what all the signs will tell you we have not legalized weed here in Prague so anything you find in some corner store will be either CBD or some HHC variant. The people on Wenceslas square might have something but you will not get what you pay for and you might also just get some cbd or something else so be warned. Zizkov that was mentioned earlier is a place full of pubs that are open late and your odds are much better of getting something legit. I am not here to promote anything, just trying to help you avoid getting ripped off. Please be safe and remember people do actually live in the city so get as weird as you want, but please don't be a loud mess on the streets after 10 PM as that is the official legal quite time for noise.

Edit - Forgot to add in how to say please and thank you. Please is Prosim and there are many different ways to say it but the easiest to remember is Dekuji. The easiest way to remember is to call someone a dickweed, and remove the d at the end.
Prosím (pro-seem) = Possibly the most useful word in Czech. It means: 1) Please, 2) Here you are, 3) You're welcome, 4) What did you say?, 5) I'll have … and can generally be used in times of doubt.
Děkuji. Děkuji is the most universal form of thank you in Czech. You can use it in formal situations as well as casual ones.
