2024.06.09 21:54 WhatIsThisWhereAmI Are there any cruise lines or ships that feel a little less... casino-y?

I'm on my first cruise (Crown Princess to Alaska) and having quite a good time- leaning into the spirit of "drunken luxury hotel on water."
However the one thing I might improve is that it feels a bit like you're in a casino. Meaning the overall aesthetics and slightly the vibe (nothing against the actual gambling/casino portion of the ship.)
The ship I'm on has that cheesecake factory aesthetic, and a Vegas-y who-knows-what-time-of-day-it-is, gamble and drink til you drop vibe. There are some nice spots I like on the ship (like this room with big panoramic windows and classic 20s decor near the aft,) but mostly you never really "feel" like you're on the ocean when you're in the main entertainment areas.
I'm wondering if there are cruise lines or ships out there that are more old world classic (think Titanic), or on the other end of the scale, more bright and clean, perhaps a bit spa-like.

2024.06.09 17:55 Happy-Strawberry1728 Travel Report: 3 Weeks Working Remote in Dominican Republic - April/May (Shoulder/Wet Season)

Dominican Republic was an interesting experience, while I loved practicing my Spanish, I won't be back. Nothing bad happened, just nothing was exceptional about the place, one visit was enough, I have high hopes for it being a better travel destination in future. The downside was really just the food and service, which was quite abysmal.
I've broken it up into separate posts for each area I was in, (4 spots in 3 weeks), but the main takeaways are:
April 22-26: Uvero Alto - Ocean El Faro & El Beso https://www.oceanhotels.net/en/punta-cana-hotels/ocean-el-faro
I was lucky enough to stay here for a coworking summit with my company. We got a great corporate deal and splurged on a “Swim-Up Junior Suite” which was still only US$150 per person all inclusive. While a stunning resort, I am very glad we didn’t pay anymore than we did, as the quality and value was lacking. I was there with my partner for 6 nights, 7 days and that was too long. I’d say 3-4 days is plenty to experience it all. However, I am not a resort person and this was my first resort experience, I would be happy to not experience another resort, unless it was heavily subsidized and a stunning location. Quick review of all the amenities:
April 26-May 3: Santo Domingo - Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/1005877835635365302?source_impression_id=p3_1716938967_qCcY6F7gw1ARPg4Q Private transport from hotel to Airbnb: https://www.bookaway.com/ It was a little disorientating leaving the resort which seemed like some fairyland to Santo Domingo which was REAL Dominican Republic. We booked a private shuttle which was nice, they came 20 mins late but we weren’t in a rush and our local driver was very kind, social and gave us some tips about the capital city and country. He also advised to not leave the capital city as the surrounding neighbourhoods had a lot of crime and you would likely get stabbed and robbed :/ We arrived at our Airbnb in about 3.5 hours (with a brief pitstop). Our airbnb was bare bones, while nice, we wouldn’t recommend it for remote workers as it was hard to cook food there, however, if you’re out exploring all day, this place would suffice. The pool was nice but the gym was unusable as the air conditioner was broken so you had to work out in 35 degrees celsius plus. It was nice to be close to the grocery store though nearby and restaurants within walking distance. While the streets seemed a bit sketchy, it was very safe. We did take Ubers as well which were so cheap, DRP300-500 for 5-10 min rides. We preferred our area over Zona Colonial as there was more to do, but it would’ve been nice to split our time between the two areas. All in all, we’re glad we got to see the real Dominican Republic but were happy to be back close to the beach afterwards. Reviews of excursions and restaurants below. Dominican Culture Around the Fogón: https://www.airbnb.com/slink/V5iWBddV Incredible experience, loved making coffee and chocolate from scratch, learning the ways of the Taínos and the yucca pizza was surprisingly super tasty! Underground swimming hole was also really cool and Jasmine was such a fun host! Even though we half spoke each other’s languages, I had so much fun talking with her and highly recommend this tour! Hiking Tabernacle thundering Waterfall: https://www.airbnb.com/slink/mqMnhLjY Ronnie is the man!! One of the most professional and patient hosts I’ve ever met. He easily navigated the varying levels of skill our group had, made it easy for us to all connect and get to know one another. The chat during the 2 hour ride was seamless and Ronnie even stopped to let us try Arepa! Breakfast family style beforehand was also super tasty with eggs, fried cheese, mashed potato and mangu. The tour itself was so much fun and definitely action packed! I recommend this tour for those who are medium to highly fit, it’s more of a struggle for those who aren’t active. I’m scared of heights and had a couple of sketchy moments but it was so rewarding to finish the hike at the end. Water is also quite cold! It’s manageable but there were many moments where I was trying to find sun spots to warm up. Lunch at the end was also great and I appreciate Ronnie accommodating us last minute (we forgot to mention we didn’t eat meat) and he organised some eggplant to go with the rice, salad, tostones and beans. On the way back, Ronnie also got us some Dominican treats to try, Yanniqueque, Dulce de maní and a coconut - all part of the tour! The best part though was he stoped at a mango stand where we bought 8 mangoes for $2.35CAD! The best mangoes I’ve ever eaten. Thank you Ronnie for an unforgettable experience! Restaurants we went to in order:
May 3-5: Bayahíbe - Booking.com Villa Iguana
Bayahíbe was SUCH a cute town, I wished we could’ve stayed here for a couple more days to enjoy the water which was so beautiful and clear. The infrastructure is limited for remote workers though, average 20mbps download speeds, hence why we only came for the weekend. As it is a small town, 3-4 days would suffice, you can walk around the whole town centre in 45-60mins probably. But you could also head over down south towards where the hotels are to experience some other restaurants and beaches. Highly recommend visiting Cueva de Chicho while here, very cool experience swimming in a cenote cave with bats - bring a waterproof head lamp if you can! This is the only swimmable cave in the area and it cost DRP200 pp to enter and walk 20 mins to the cave from the entrance. I’m not sure if this was normal either but there was a large market on Friday night in the town centre with a DJ which had a fun local feel. We had an unfortunate event when we were leaving Bayahíbe to Bávaro via Uber - we recommend you DO NOT DO. Use Bookaway and pre-book a shuttle. We actually had a shuttle booked originally but they accidentally cancelled it for no reason when we were in Santo Domingo and because Ubers were cheaper and we got one from Santo Domingo to Bayahíbe no problem, we thought it’d be fine. We ended up spending an hour trying to get a driver to take us, but they all kept calling to ask for double the price that was on Uber, where it advertised DRP2500 and the drivers wanted us to pay DRP4000 cash. So we kept cancelling and being bumped between the limited drivers available. Eventually one driver refused to cancel so we couldn’t find another driver, essentially forcing us to use him. It was a very uncomfortable experience, we felt scammed as all the drivers kept saying the same price but shame on Uber if they truly do underpay their drivers there - which is the reason the drivers gave. However, we paid DRP5000 to go from Santo Domingo to Bayahíbe which is double the distance, so I don’t know what was fair or not, perhaps we cheated that driver. Reviews of excursions and restaurants below. Vip Cruise on SpeedBoat to paradise Mano Juan, Saona Island: https://www.airbnb.com/slink/QdC06cdN All in all this was still a good trip but it was a little unorganized and we didn’t see/do everything on the itinerary. We also didn’t leave the port until around 10:15/10:30am, there was only one bottle of water per person all day provided (luckily I brought my own water), we didn’t get a coconut either with lunch nor visit the shipwreck for snorkelling. I wish we spent more time during the morning activities, and less time at the old fishing village. It started off well but got boring towards the end. I don’t know if I’d recommend this tour at the current cost, there are similar tours for half the price, so feel a little cheated seeing as we didn’t get/do everything we were supposed to. Isidro was nice though, and seeing the baby sea turtles was definitely a highlight, water was also stunning.
May 5-11: Bàvaro - Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.ca/rooms/32934066source_impression_id=p3_1716939104_OS2Nv%2F5S2CgNAY1s I have mixed feelings about this place, it felt very touristy but had such great potential. The beach was unfortunately covered in sargassum and was not pleasant to swim, if you head north you might be able to find a spot to swim though. Thankfully we had a pool and since it was the shoulder season, basically had it all to ourselves. Restaurants were more expensive than I thought for the quality, I wish I ventured into the local area, Friusa, driving past it looked like it would have tasty cheap eats! We didn’t do much here since it was our last 6 days and we were only here during the week, but we did get an Uber to Playa Macao which didn’t have as much sargassum and was really nice to swim in. Barely any amenities there though so pack some food and drinks with you as the restaurants that are open are quite expensive for the quality. Reviews of restaurants below.
TLDR: Ocean El Faro/El Beso is a beautiful resort, but has terrible food. Hike Tabernacle with Ronnie and eat at Ajuala in Santo Domingo; Book private transport in and out of Bayahibe; Don’t make Bávaro a priority to visit, can be easily missed - it’ll be better later on
Hope this is helpful for some people, let me know if you have any qs!

2024.06.09 14:37 zhorakis Helmets question…

It’s a first world problem, so I’ll give some context… I have a 6year old plain white AGV K3, which even though I like a lot, am considering changing. It’s getting old, some scratches on the shell and some small cracks on small interior parts have accumulated from handling, dropping and stuff… When I bought that helmet, I had a massive Yamaha TDM 850 to cruise around the country, but eventually I fell into riding it primarily in town and after several drops within traffic I retired that behemoth and went to a 250cc Yamaha X-city… Best decision so far…
Looking for a new helmet and wondering what I could improve, the only problem of the K3 seems to be it’s size. The scooter‘s trunk is too small (flat) for any helmet, and I have to carry it around. With the TDM I tried using a cargo box on the back to store the helmet and other protection. But placing a sweaty thing in a closed black box under the sun even sounds like a disaster so I stopped doing that. I don’t carry much luggage and even don’t need a box for the scooter…
Also, I don’t want to get an open helmet, since my commute includes boulevards where 80kph is the limit and everyone drives with 100kph there. And it is not a 50cc mixer after all…
Looking for smaller, more compact helmets for a decent price I noted there are things like the Shark Citycruizer or the Schuberth M1 Pro, which are open helmets, but the visor covers the whole face… The Shark also has these “beams” around the chin…
Has anyone ridden with these or similar, do they feel safe?

The gentle kneading and stretching techniques used during a prenatal massage can improve blood circulation, which is crucial for both the mother and baby's health. It also releases endorphins that uplift mood and relieve anxiety.
Additionally, prenatal massages have been shown to reduce complications during labor and promote faster recovery postpartum. So if you're looking for ways to enhance your babymoon experience, indulging in a soothing prenatal massage should definitely be on your list.
Now that we've explored the benefits of prenatal massages, let's move on to another important aspect of your babymoon: relaxation techniques. Babymoon Relaxation Techniques One way to enhance your babymoon experience is by exploring various relaxation techniques. Taking the time to relax and de-stress during this special time can greatly benefit both you and your baby.
Here are three relaxation techniques that you can try:

Self-Care Activities: Engaging in self-care activities is essential during pregnancy. Take time to pamper yourself with activities such as taking warm baths, getting a massage, or enjoying a soothing prenatal spa treatment.

2024.06.09 09:31 KoreanBunz Japan Trip Report (Last week of May and first week of June)

So, finally, my SO and I back home after an exciting Japanese Vacation. It was on our bucket list for years and we are so glad we did it and it went smoothly.
We landed at Narita Airport at 7 AM and finished our immigration and customs by 7.45 AM. We bought our Passmo Passport from Keisei Information Centre in literally two mins without a queue and were in the three persons queue at the Limousine Bus stop for our airport transfer to Shinjuku. I highly suggest the Limousine Bus Service as it was the most convenient and comfortable ride from NRT Airport to Shinjuku. The staff speaks English and put your luggage in the storage compartment, without you to have to worry about it. You can buy the tickets of limousine bus on KLOOK or at the arrivals hall of NRT airport.
From Shinjuku stop where the limousine bus dropped us and handed our luggage to us, we took a taxi to our hotel. It costed us 1200 yen and 10 mins to our hotel in Nishi Shinjuku. We had typed the hotel name and address in Japanese and printed it out. That piece of paper proved very useful after a 12 hour flight and 2 hour bus ride. We just handed out the printed paper to our taxi driver and he dropped us off at our hotel without a single word exchanged between us except thank you (arigato gozaimasu). It took away the anxiety of explaining our hotel address to taxi drivers in English and broken Japanese.
Our hotel was APA Hotel & Resort NishiShinjuku Gochome Eki Tower. We had booked an early check in for additional payment of 1000 yen per hour. We reached our double room on higher floor with city view and were shocked by the size of it. NO AMOUNT of research and reading up could mentally prepare us for the size of it. It was TINYYYYYYYY. But, very well appointed with night suits, kimono robes, room slippers, onsen slippers, huge TV, small bath tub, king size bed, working station with a chair, etc. We soon found our groove in the tiny room and found it to be very comfortable once the luggage was under the bed. I would highly recommend this hotel as it has an onsite onsen, swimming pool (payable), speedy WiFi, English speaking staff, vending machines, laundromat, luggage storage and transfer facility. But, its biggest plus point is that it’s 100 mts away from the NishiShinjuku Gochome Station with an elevator exit. That was the most convenient for us.
After relaxing in the tiny room for about 3 hours, we left the hotel at 2 PM for Meiji Jingu Shrine. We used the subway for it and it was very convenient. We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful zen walk into the forest like atmosphere to reach the shrine. It was completely empty barring three more people about 1 km ahead of us. When we reached the Meiji Jingu Shrine we were greeted by a crowd. We spent maximum of 30 mins in the shrine and then walked to Takeshita Street. It was a 15 min relaxed walk and we enjoyed it. We LOVED the Takeshita Street and the hustle bustle there, spent around two hours, shopping for street wear fits and eating the crepes and tanghulu sweet treats. From there we walked the Cat Street, which was almost deserted and we didn’t even realise that we had already finished walking the iconic Cat Street until we asked a local. From Cat Street we walked to Shibuya, it was a 25 minutes walk and I had started to feel the tiredness by now. We found a Tully’s Cafe about 5 mins away from Shibuya crossing and chilled there for one hour having coffee and smoothies.
We reached the Shibuya Crossing by 6.30 PM and the excitement to see thousands of people crossing the iconic junction had pumped the energy back into me and I was ready for more exploring. We took a look at the Hachiku Statue and made our way up to Shibuya Sky for our entry slot of 7 PM. It was the most magical moment when we took the elevator up to the open observatory deck. The sky was turning red and rust and the Tokyo skyline lights were just firing up. We saw the sunset for about 15 minutes before the sky turned dark and then we enjoyed the night light views of Tokyo. It was absolutely STUNNING. Highly recommend booking the 6.45-7 PM slot for Shibuya Sky. We booked it via KLOOK about one month in advance.
We got down from Shibuya Sky by 8.30 PM and although we had a reservation at a vegan restaurant at Shinjuku for 9 PM, I personally couldn’t last any longer. I was extremely tired by that time so we took a subway back to our hotel. We rested in the hotel and had Seven Eleven ice cream and onigiri for dinner in our room and rested till about 11 PM.
At around 11 PM my FOMO kicked in and my partner and I took a cab to Omoide Yakucho drinking lane. It took us 8 mins by cab and 1000 yen. We had a local beer at the Albatross bar there and we loved the atmosphere and experience. We explored some more places in that lane but Albatross Bar was the best vibe. We then walked to Hotel Gracery to see the Godzilla head and Shinjuku neon billboards and lights. We found the area super greasy but it had a vibe of its own. We walked a bit further and found a nice beer brewery and bar and had a few beers there and it was amazing. We left that place by 12.30 AM and took a taxi back to the hotel. It costed us 900 yen. All in all it was the MOST FUN and ICONIC first day of a Tokyo trip. We had clocked 22,000 steps on Day 1.
Day 2:
We woke up by 8 AM and left the hotel by 10 AM. We first reached the Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and had breakfast at the traditional Japanese tea house at the national garden. We relaxed in the garden and explored till about 12.30 pm and we left for TeamLabs Planet. We reached there and booked ourself the lunch experience at Uzu Restaurant at Tokyolabs Planet. It was hands down the ABSOLUTE BEST lunch experience with the yummiest bowl of Vegan Ramen. We enjoyed the immersive experience and were ready for experiencing the main exhibit by 3.30 PM. We spent two hours in the exhibit and it was absolutely the highlight of our trip. We both lovedddddd TeamLabs Planet experience and can’t wait to be back.
At around 6 pm we left for Asakusa area from Teamlabs and reached the Senso Ji temple at around 6.45 pm. We explored the shopping streets around the temple and watched the sun go down behind the temple. It was just so so so so beautiful. We had dinner at a roadside restaurant there and they were plenty. My SO loved the area so much that he made me promise that we will stay in this area instead of Shibuya or Shinjuku on our next visit to Tokyo. The man has taste.
We were back to our hotel by 10 PM and had drinks at our hotel bar and slept off by 12 AM.
We had successfully used the subway system without getting lost but we had also successfully AVOIDED starting or ending our subway journeys from the terrifying Shinjuku Station for first two days and we highly recommend everyone to do the same.
Because on Day 3 we got lost at Shinjuku station and it was NOT FUN. On day 3 we checked out of our hotel by 10 am and took the subway to Don Qui store Shinjuku (our hotel stored our luggage for us post check out). We spent 2.5 hours in Donki and other Shinjuku shopping places and while returning with our shopping bags we got lost in Shinjuku station for about an hour and I personally felt super disoriented but my SO took over the navigation and somehow we reached our hotel by 2 pm.
We then took our bags and made our way to Tokyo International Cruise Terminal via subway and metro. A sweet local Japanese girl guided us to the metro stop which was two floors above from where we were and she very kindly travelled with us on the escalators two whole floors up. I had never experienced such kindness from a stranger and was truly grateful and overwhelmed by her kindness.
We then embarked on our cruise ship at 3.30 PM and I will write the cruise report in the next post.
But, I must say that these 2-2.5 days in Tokyo were genuinely I had dreamed of and more. Although it was tiring t walk 20k steps a day but it was more than worth it. I can’t wait to be back.

2024.06.09 06:59 rdk67 Spring Day 81: Celestial Objects Churning the Earth Beneath Us

I walk across town to the farmer’s market, to table with Don and Jane about the petition to limit the police budget, realign spending with human need. The day is a big slice of what the market is all about, and people drift past as couples and families, some with balloon animals and some without, more than a few eager to sign the petition. A determination appears when people have a chance to sign their name to the cause of justice, put their shoulder to the wheel of change, a metaphor farmer’s markets know well, and when they lay down the pen, they smile with more than one satisfaction – I am part of the urge to ease suffering and endorse peace in our time, yes, but I also just affirmed same by staining sheets of pulped paper with the point of a pen. What a troop of upright hominids are we! I search for a tree to climb, that my voice might carry further.
I cruise through the rest of the market, look for a free secluded spot to eat a scone, finding none, eat it on the way home by pinching off little pieces and stuffing them in my mouth. In a couple of hours, I’m meeting with my political representative to the city council, to talk about policing and the budget associated with it, which is an extension of the question of authority. I practice my argument about prison abolition – imagine young adults of a certain age, unable ever to be incarcerated – how would we see things differently if there was no plan b involving the police? Now imagine an adult leaving prison after a 30-year sentence, moving in next door – would you rather they endured the passing of time in a condition of abject torment inside a state-sponsored industrial prison or living and learning inside the kind of architecture that preserves humanity?
Later in the afternoon, I take a lap around the commons area, get spotted by a baby posing for pictures taken by her mom. She has mastered the art of sitting upright, and her mom steps forward, turns her a bit, then steps back and starts snapping pictures with her phone, which is the sort of phrase that would have blown my mind as a kid – one day we will all take pictures with our phones, no big deal – send them to each other at the theoretical speed of light, minus a certain amount of head scratching in the global microelectronics biome. Not to give away any secrets the future may or may not be keeping from us, but there is definitely going to be a new technologically mediated relationship with simultaneity that is, at present, in low-earth orbit, negotiating a splashdown. When it arrives, that new relationship with simultaneity will create
a higher technology, accompanied by a new catalogue of phenomenologies based on ubiquitous media that renders locality and nonlocality indistinguishable and intertwined, in the workplace and at home, when you sleep and when you wake, and solitude will become a doctor that still makes house calls, and solitude will press its ear against our spine, ask us to breathe, listen close to the atmosphere rush in and out. Solitude will have us say ah. I sprawl in the grass, imagining the mystery of a baby’s gaze captured by an optically sensitive computer chip and preserved for all eternity. The sky is overcast, but the clouds are the puffy kind that aren’t likely to drop rain, holes here and there, and the sky a valorous blue, a blue urging us onward, reminding us it is no less than another ocean, the one above. One more: no less than another ocean, the one above.
I drift into a trance state in which my listening becomes inverted, and I feel a thrum of the earth, which passes into my body through ribbons of grass. The ground really does rise and fall twice daily – crustal tides, they’re called, based on the moon and the sun’s gravitational pull, and my body feels cut from cardboard – from a big box, who knows what was inside – and I float on the grass like a raft in a stew, contemplate the eternal question – do you know of where you stand? – on the matter of peace and otherwise? After some astonishing bout of internal debate, possibly centuries later, I feel a breeze sweep across my body – an affirmation, even more the case due to how difficult it is to ever imagine a breeze like this just randomly blowing through my bedroom window. A wind born of spirit – that’s what I felt there in my bed, on a pallet in a peace church.
Then I realized I was in the grass – still in the commons area – feeling celestial objects churning the earth beneath me, and what a moment that is – of a mind bare of context, in a trance in the grass, imagining the remarkable – a public nudity really. I open my eyes the way a moth opens its wings, observe a magnetic field in the sky, a twinkling grid seeming slightly to breath, which is probably just my breath, just me, but the vision persists, a sky drawn with ley lines. One, two, three birds zip past, and I half expect a clap of thunder, wonder if the day yearns for something I can give. I sit up, spot a square of bright gold foil – the remains of a condom package. Did they do it there? In that very patch of grass? Passion uncontained, they call it. Occurring everywhere at once in a way. A baby who has mastered the art of sitting upright, poses for photos by phone.

2024.06.09 05:31 MastuhWaffles My overall thoughts as a long time TDU player...

So keep in mind I also was able to do one of the closed playtests but, I will talk about this "demo" aka an open playtest.
Performance is ok for me I have a really good computer but, even some places can bring me down to 50 fps. Obviously now that they have more data hopefully they can actually really push through and get performance nailed down, there seems to be some issues with blurry textures etc, I have been testing out DLSS or DLAA and it seems to really take care of most of it but, sometimes things get really pixelated.
For me I think the game looks good, I still play TDU2 so its a big step up from that.
Servers are kind of crap. It's an "always online game" so you keep getting popups for "saving failed" instead of just making a note on the UI and retrying and logging in or getting into a race is a pain. This also means that at any point they can shut down the servers and that's its, game is dead forever. Lets hope with this big open test its fixed for good on release.
Overall feel of the game, I don't really know. Sometimes I throw on a TDU2 music playlist from hariba radio and just drive and it I do get that TDU2 feel I really loved. But overall it feels just kind of like Forza with an identity crisis.
I don't know why they decided on a "rarity" system like fortnite or forza, to me it takes away part of that more serious "luxury" experience. Part of this is that they use a "credit" system instead of some sort of real currency and cars and upgraded are priced arbitrarily. For instance a 2009 GTR which costed 73K in TDU2 is now 1.4M. Like...why? Paint jobs and factory options seem to be priced correctly. However whats weird is you go paint a car and then it costs you 30k in the tuning shop. I was able to make quite a bit of money so far and buy a lot of cars including the aston and maybe thats just inflated for this test but if I have to grind for a 2009 GTR thats 1.4M I'm going to be salty.
The forza upgrade system can be a blessing or a curse really. On the one hand it means that more cars are able to compete in more events based on tuning, instead of just class like TDU2 and racing gets more competitive. However this seems to have negated the need for license tests, something that I did enjoy in TDU2 and I hope to see return. It also means you kind of have to slog through the upgrade menu, versus forzas very well polished system.
For me what sets TDU apart is the social experience, houses, the casino, the shops, walking around the race lobby and looking at everyone's cars, the custom gauge for each car in third person. The solar hotel is nice but it feels dead and empty. You dont even have a little interactivity and cant get a drink at a bar. The streets or sharps place is cool but once again, just kind of a dead zone that you only go to challenge an AI. (i hope we keep their cars after winning the challenge)
I will say handling is just like TDU2 and not in a good way. Cars seem to have no weight, and traction is just a random mixed bag. Once a car steps out you can't get it back. I tried changing settings with the controller and it seems like I just cant get enough wheel angle or something. Wheel has been a little better but I am still fiddling around in settings to try and get a 1:1 rate.
Right now I am just on the fence. I know its an "open test" and its all subject to change but keep in mind we are 3 months till release. I have played many, many betas with this kinda timeframe and the reality is what you see now, is generally going to be the same on release, performance doesnt get much better unless its just a very weird "single case" basis, a lot doesnt change or gets added. I want TDU to be TDU, I want all the little weird details TDU has and I want it to be unique, not just like forza. I still remember the great times I had in TDU2 on my xbox, cruising around hawaii with my friends in the zonda cinque listening to all the weird songs on hariba radio (and the ad about fish guts in your hair). I hope, when it comes out it feels very different from what we currently have.

2024.06.09 04:14 hbodnar6 Slightly Urgent: Players Club Clarification?

Hello, I have had a Carnival cruise booked for about 4 or so months now. I just signed up to become a VIFP member. I recently saw how there was a casino perk for those who signed up for this free program. The free casino perk included a free 50 dollars to spend at the casino. Since I booked this cruise when I wasn't a VIFP member, will I still get the chance to redeem the free 50 to spend? Or will this only apply to my next cruise that I book. Please let me know as I set to sail within the next few days. My past cruise bookings are now linked to my sailing account if this helps. Thank you so much.

When two white marble monuments were installed next to the Yarra in the 1990s, Crown casino operators were so concerned about getting an Asian audience to its venue that feng shui experts were called in to help place them.
Having since become a feature on Southbank Promenade, the two 6.5-metre sculptures – named The Guardians and covered in ceramic images of fish, birds, vines, buildings and suns – are now to be removed and sent to a farm on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Guardians sculptures are to be removed from Southbank and sent to Sages Cottage Farm. The Guardians sculptures are to be removed from Southbank and sent to Sages Cottage Farm.Wayne Taylornormal Crown is removing the sculptures as part of a revamp of the promenade area in front of the casino, and will donate them to Sages Cottage Farm, an enterprise run by not-for-profit disability service Wallara.
Sculptor Simon Rigg, who now lives in New York, said Melburnians needed to know the sculptures would be removed.
“I am sorry to see them go – they have been a prominent landmark in the city,” he said. “I think the two sculptures have added a lot of colour and energy to the city.”

2024.06.09 00:49 jecksida Beach Tent? (NYC - Bahamas)

Hi! We are taking a cruise from NYC - Bahamas on Monday. I have a sun shade / beach tent, and I think I’ll have some extra room in my suitcase. If so, would it be totally crazy to take this tent? It looks like all the clamshells are reserved anyway and I have heard they are kind of hot. My tent could fit 4-6 people under it easily.
I am very fair skinned and while I do like to get out in the sun, I so appreciate being able to step into the shade when needed. So I definitely want SOMETHING to be able to keep cool.
This is a photo of what I have. I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you! 😊

2024.06.08 22:35 sientetiamicara What would you do if homeless for 1 night?

Council homeless line was useless, basically told they can't help.
I've been made temporarily homeless for 1 night and looking for advice/tips from people who have been in a similar situation.
Currently have less than a quid to my name and the cheapest local hotel is 50x that.
So far I've wasted 8 hours of my day in spoons taking the utter piss out of their unlimited hot drinks for £1.56 deal, charging my phone up and doonscrolling Reddit...
Small town, no casino or 24 hour pubs/indoor spaces... So I ask you people of the UK, what would you do in this situation?
Serious/funny/outlandish replies all genuinely appreciated.
Quick edit: I'm not so much asking this question to find myself immediate help, I'm not in any danger and will survive one night... More looking for exactly what you lovely people are suggesting- out of the box thinking and ideas! Its an interesting topic to discuss that never crossed my mind until today.
Update... I made it... Walked about 20 miles aimlessly, read an entire book, watched the sun come up by the river and am now heading to get my bus to check into staff accomodation and start my new job!

2024.06.08 19:06 sublibyss Spectrum of the Seas - cruising from China got its quirks

We sailed the Spectrum of the Seas from Shanghai last month with stops in Japan. It got a totally a different vibe from the Caribbean cruise we had taken in the past. Depending on what you are looking for, it can be quite enjoyable.
The pool deck chairs were empty all the time! The Chinese crowd are sun-averse. The chairs on the sunny side of the ship were available any time of the day, sea days or not. The lounge chairs in the pool were also available all the time.
There were two main pools, one outdoor, one indoor. The pools were not very crowded, especially the outdoor one on one of the more windy sea days. There was a lady swimming laps in the afternoon.
The bartenders were so bored. I think they get like 5 drink orders an hour. There were maybe 5 patrons lounging near the pool bar at the busiest time, and none of them look Chinese.
The buffet scene on the other hand was crazy, and not so relaxing. They used doors to physically close the Windjammer during non-dining hours. They made people wait outside in lines going all the way towards the elevator hall during lunch time. They made loud announcements requesting people to empty their seats for other guests. Not sure if they just had poor Chinese language skills, the announcement sounded quite rude like: you must leave when you are done.
They clearly tried to have more Asian dishes, but the end results were some poorly done fusion that nobody was happy. The Chinese clearly did not find the food anything close to authentic. I guess they were edible and free, so still very long lines. And the western style selections was very limited as they tried to make room for those fusion dishes. For example, almost nobody else was touching the pasta that they were dry sitting on the warmer. There was no omelette station for breakfast.
The dining time in the main dining room was enforced strictly. They wouldn’t let anyone in before their scheduled time. They also had some attempt of Chinese food, and half of them were terrible. The western style classics were fine. But a lot of the guests were not thrilled with main dining after trying the first day. The service was super quick though, we barely had to wait after ordering. Overall food is meh, I think I lost weight with this cruise.
The shops were busy, and the casino was busy. And the smoking area were so crowded. Unfortunately our room was downwind from the smoking area on the port side, and we couldn’t use our balcony because of all the smoking half of the time.
The boarding time was also strictly enforced. They made us wait in the terminal lobby until our boarding time. There were like a million checks to embark with long lines each. Lines to get into the terminal, lines for security check, lines to check boarding time, lines for temperature check, lines for customs, lines for immigration, lines to collect passports, lines to actual board the ship, lines for the elevator. It was super crowded and loud, and not one bit like a start of a vacation until we got in our room.
Stops in Japan were fun. It was quite a cultural shock, as the first sign Japan welcomed us said “Please bring all your trash back to the ship.” So everyone returned with their shopping bags and even bigger trash bags.
Overall we just wanted to lounge and relax, and except for lunch hours, there were plenty of lounging and relaxing once we got on the ship. Maybe we'll do it again when I need to lose weight.

2024.06.08 17:41 Sweet-Count2557 When Should You Go on a Babymoon

When Should You Go on a Babymoon
When Should You Go on a Babymoon Are you eagerly awaiting the arrival of your little bundle of joy? As you prepare for this incredible journey called parenthood, there's one special trip that can help you relax and bond before the chaos begins: a babymoon. But when should you go on this much-needed getaway? Let us be your guide as we navigate through the best times to plan your babymoon. By following our advice, you can ensure a safe and joyful experience for both you and your baby. Key Takeaways
The second trimester (weeks 14-28) is the ideal time for a babymoon due to increased energy and comfort. Beach resorts offer a relaxing atmosphere and pregnancy-friendly activities for a babymoon destination. Proper planning and preparation, including consulting with a healthcare provider, are important for a safe and enjoyable babymoon. Safety and comfort should be prioritized during a babymoon, including following safety guidelines, staying hydrated, and packing appropriate clothing and gear.
Best Time to Plan a Babymoon
The best time for you to plan a babymoon is during your second trimester. This is the period between weeks 14 and 28 of your pregnancy when most women experience less morning sickness and fatigue, making it an ideal time to travel. When it comes to choosing the perfect destination for your babymoon, there are several options that offer both relaxation and safety. One of the best destinations for a babymoon is a beach resort. The calming sound of ocean waves coupled with warm sand under your feet can provide the ultimate relaxation experience. Additionally, many beach resorts offer prenatal massages and other pregnancy-friendly activities. If you're looking for budget-friendly babymoon ideas, consider a staycation in your own city or town. Exploring local attractions, visiting museums, or enjoying scenic walks in nearby parks can be just as rejuvenating as traveling far away. Remember, safety should always be a top priority during your babymoon. Before finalizing any travel plans, consult with your healthcare provider to ensure you're fit to travel and that there are no specific restrictions for pregnant women at your chosen destination. Now that you know the best destinations and budget-friendly ideas for a babymoon, let's move on to discussing when exactly you should schedule this special trip. When to Schedule Your Babymoon
Consider scheduling your babymoon during the second trimester of your pregnancy. This is often considered the ideal time to plan this special trip before your baby arrives. There are several scheduling considerations to keep in mind when deciding on the timing of your babymoon. One benefit of planning your babymoon during the second trimester is that you may have more energy and feel more comfortable compared to the first or third trimester. Morning sickness and fatigue are often less severe during this time, allowing you to fully enjoy your vacation. Additionally, the risk of complications is generally lower during this stage of pregnancy, making it a safer option for travel. Another consideration is choosing a destination that aligns with your needs and preferences. Opt for a location that offers activities and amenities suitable for expectant mothers. Look for places with good healthcare facilities nearby, just in case any unexpected medical issues arise during your trip. Lastly, make sure to consult with your healthcare provider before finalizing any plans. They can provide valuable advice regarding travel restrictions or precautions you should take based on your specific pregnancy circumstances. Ideal Timing for a Babymoon
When planning your babymoon, it's important to choose a time that aligns with the second trimester of your pregnancy. This is generally considered the ideal timing for a babymoon because you have likely passed the morning sickness phase and are still feeling relatively comfortable before entering the third trimester. During this time, you can enjoy your getaway without worrying too much about potential discomfort or complications. The benefits of going on a babymoon during the second trimester are numerous. Not only does it provide a chance to relax and spend quality time with your partner before the arrival of your little one, but it also allows you to destress and recharge before the final stages of pregnancy. Additionally, taking a babymoon can help strengthen your bond as a couple and create lasting memories together. To help you plan your perfect babymoon, here are some best destinations for a babymoon:
Destination Activities Safety Precautions
Bali Couples spa treatments, beach walks Check Zika virus risk
Santorini Sunset cruises, local cuisine tasting Ensure medical facilities nearby
Maui Relaxing on pristine beaches, snorkeling adventures Stay hydrated in tropical climate
Remember to consult with your healthcare provider before making any travel plans and take necessary precautions to ensure both yours and baby's safety during this special trip. Choosing the Right Season for Your Babymoon
To ensure a more enjoyable and comfortable babymoon, it's important to choose the right season for your trip. The season you select can greatly impact your overall experience and safety during this special time. When deciding on the best destinations and travel tips for your babymoon, consider the weather conditions, activities available, and any potential risks associated with each season. If you're planning a beach getaway, the summer months may be ideal as you can soak up the sun and relax by the water. However, keep in mind that hot temperatures can be challenging for pregnant women. It might be better to opt for cooler destinations or plan outdoor activities during the milder spring or fall seasons. For winter getaways, make sure to choose destinations with mild climates to avoid extreme cold or icy conditions that could pose risks to both you and your baby. Additionally, consider packing appropriate clothing layers to stay warm without overheating. Remember to consult with your healthcare provider before making any travel plans during your pregnancy. They can provide valuable insights specific to your situation and help ensure a safe and memorable babymoon experience. When to Take a Babymoon for Maximum Relaxation
For maximum relaxation, it's important to plan your babymoon during a time when you can truly unwind and take time for yourself. The best destinations for your babymoon will depend on your personal preferences and budget. Here are some budget-friendly options to consider:
Destination Activities Safety Tips
Beach Retreat Relax on the beach Stay hydrated and avoid excessive sun exposure. Check for lifeguards and swim in designated areas.
Mountain Getaway Hiking, spa visits Dress appropriately for the weather and bring necessary gear such as hiking boots or warm clothing. Be cautious of wildlife and follow trail signs.
City Escape Sightseeing, dining Plan your itinerary ahead of time to maximize your time and minimize stress. Take breaks between activities to rest and stay hydrated.
When choosing the right time for your babymoon, consider factors such as how far along you are in your pregnancy, any medical conditions that may affect travel, and the climate of your desired destination. It's generally recommended to go on a babymoon during the second trimester when most women feel their best. This allows you to enjoy the trip without being too uncomfortable or worrying about potential complications during late pregnancy. Remember to consult with your healthcare provider before making any travel plans, especially if you have any concerns or special considerations regarding safety during pregnancy. Frequently Asked Questions Are Babymoons Only for First-Time Parents? When should you go on a babymoon? Well, the answer is no! [US] [Selling] $3 Blurays, updated.
Yesterday’s post got lots of action. Figured it’s easier to just make a new post with the updated leftovers.
Lots of blurays I’m getting rid of for cheap. $3 a piece, or 20 for $50. $5 flat shipping, no matter how many titles. Some are sealed. Some do have codes, but not sure if they’ve been redeemed. I believe a small handful might be missing the DVD; if so they’ll be $2. I’ll check and let you know when I pull them. PayPal or Venmo only; F&F or G&S, whichever you prefer. I’m not worried about the fees.
Please comment before PM. Thank you.

My Key Tips for the Best Online Casino Australia
Maximize Your Bonuses: Aussie online casinos are known for their generous bonuses, including welcome bonuses, free spins, and loyalty programs. Sign up at multiple casinos to take advantage of these offers and maximize your playing time and chances. Every bonus boosts your opportunity to hit a big win!
Choose High RTP Games: RTP, or Return to Player, indicates how much a game pays back over time. For example, a game with a 96% RTP returns 96 cents for every dollar wagered. The higher the RTP, the better your chances. Aussie casinos, like Ignition, are well-known for their high-RTP slots.
Manage Your Bankroll: Only bet what you can afford to lose. Set a budget for your gaming sessions and stick to it. It’s about having fun and staying stress-free, not just winning.
Explore Game Variety: Don’t limit yourself to pokies, mate! Australian online casinos offer a wide range of games—from table classics like blackjack and roulette to live dealer games that bring the casino atmosphere to your home. Each game offers a unique experience and new ways to win.
Understand the Wagering Requirements: Before you claim any bonus, make sure you understand the wagering requirements. These dictate how many times you need to play through the bonus amount before you can withdraw any winnings. Knowing this can help you choose the most favorable bonuses.
Gain Knowledge and Skills: Especially in skill-based games like poker and blackjack, learning basic strategies can greatly improve your chances. The internet is full of resources to help you sharpen your skills.
The Mother of All Questions: Is Online Gambling Allowed for Australians?
Australians are free to play at any online casino they choose. However, it’s essential to check the local laws regularly, as regulations can vary from one territory to another. Stay informed to ensure a smooth and legal gaming experience. Always verify if the casino site you plan to engage with is legal in your territory.
