2024.06.09 00:56 pass_the_hot_sauce How many tubs of different protein powders do you usually have stored at one time?
I used to believe in only having 1 tub of whatever flavor and then finishing that before buying a new one but lately I find myself being super interested in more flavors and brands and I currently have 4 different tubs on my shelf!
I need to take a break from buying anymore or else I am never going to finish these.
How about you guys? Also, what’s your current rotation?
My newest one is Black Magic Supply “Honey Grahams”, SO GOOD!! I also have Gorilla Mind Cinnamon Churro, Gorilla Mind Blueberry Muffin (second favorite), and ON Extreme Milk Chocolate.

2024.06.08 06:10 Hallelujah289 Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake and Impretzively Fudged (thanks for recommendations!)
Thank you everyone who recommended flavors on
this request post I made yesterday asking for two Ben and Jerry’s flavor recommendations.
I ended up getting a flavor I hadn’t listed, Strawberry Cheesecake, as I saw it was recommended on this Ben and Jerry’s review podcast,
The Flavorcast. I also checked out some of the flavors I had posted in my request post there, including Oat of this Swirled, Dublin Mudslide, Dirt Cake, etc etc. I agree with some of the reviews for flavors I already tried (Vanilla, Change is Brewing, etc). I recommend the podcast as it also begins each episode with a segment of the history of each Ben and Jerry’s flavor tested.
I would have gotten Pecan Pie as many of you recommended, but my store was out. I worry the flavor has been replaced by another limited time batch flavor, Marshmallow Sky. Hopefully not!
Strawberry Cheesecake
- Background: I love strawberry ice cream and I love cheesecake, and probably would have gotten this one sooner except I was burned by a poor experience with a Ben and Jerry’s fruit flavor and white ganache top. I think it may have been the discontinued Strawberry Topped Tart. Thankfully, this flavor is nothing like that.
- I also recently tried Ben and Jerry’s Vanilla and knew I’d probably like a vanilla based flavor because of it.
- Description: “Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream with Strawberries and a Thick Graham Cracker Swirl.” > Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream: a natural but very muted strawberry infused cheesecake flavor. Take Haagen Dazs Strawberry (10/10 strawberry flavor) and mute it down 60% (4/10 intensity). Cheesecake is mild; not very tangy but pleasant. > Strawberries: not many pieces shown in the image on the container, and even less in the pint. What there is is natural frozen strawberry taste. > Graham Cracker Swirl: By far, the best and strongest flavor of the pint. Accurate and very flavorful Graham cracker pie crust crumble. Rich, buttery, salted. Probably the best pie crust I’ve tasted in ice cream.
- RATING: 8/10. I would repurchase, but I feel a bit skimped on with the strawberries. The Flavorcast (episode here) was right: the Graham cracker is everything.
Impretzively Fudged
- Background: this is a new flavor from Ben and Jerry’s, I believe released with PB S’Mores. I have been on a bit of a quest for a fancy chocolate ice cream. Does this fit the bill?
- Description: “ Chocolate Ice Cream with Fudge-Covered Pretzel Pieces and Pretzel Swirls” > Chocolate Ice Cream: actually a semi-sweet chocolate with a dark chocolate lean. Certainly chocolate-y, not bland at all. But also quite sweet. Does leave a sweet taste in my mouth after eating. > Fudge-covered pretzel pieces and pretzel swirl: the star of the show. Salty, definitely crispy, likely due to the fudge covering. An exciting, textural bite kind of like an avalanche of pretzel. Also with a bit of square shaped chocolate pieces that have the texture of brittle, but chocolate. > Overall taste: straightforward, chocolate, sweet, salt. Pared down Ben and Jerry’s which isn’t trying too hard with too many conflicting ingredients.
- RATING: 7/10. I like dark chocolate. I like salt. I like chocolate covered pretzels (growing up I ate a lot of Flipz milk chocolate covered pretzels). I think Ben and Jerry’s has a nice focused flavor here. But it’s just a bit sweet for me.
- Rating caveats: Still better than Haagen Dazs Double Belgian Chocolate (reviewed here) though which was very sweet and which I rated 6/10. Would not repurchase Impretzively Fudged, but I get why it’s a favorite for some. If you want a high brow chocolate ice cream, this could fit the bill, but it may be on the top end of sweetness (and saltiness) for some. It is however a balanced flavor probably worth the notice for Jeni’s ice cream lovers (she sometimes has salty elements in her ice creams).
Other recommendations:
If you like Ben and Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake: * Haagen Dazs - Strawberry. Great natural strawberry taste. 9/10 * Haagen Dazs - Summer Berry Cake Pop. Strawberry and sweet cream ice cream, cake pieces, raspberry sauce. ?/10 (it’s been a while) * Helados Mexico - Strawberry ice cream bars. Like Haagen Dazs. 8.5/10 * Tillamook - Marionberry Pie. Some pie crust pieces but sparser, lightly flavored, has cinnamon. My tub had some mix in issues (restituted however as Tillamook sent compensation coupons); would rate higher otherwise. 8/10 * Perry’s - Banana Graham or Key Lime Pie. Both have the same graham cookie I enjoy. Less buttery than Ben and Jerry’s. Banana Graham is probably the more similar dessert experience as it’s like banana pudding. 8.5/10
If you like Ben and Jerry’s Impretzively Fudged: * Haagen Dazs Double Belgian Chocolate Chip - also a semi-sweet chocolate flavor. Has plentiful fine shavings of rich tasting Belgian chocolate chip for a nice, light crunch. Sweeter though (and Impretzively Fudged is already sweet). 6-6.5/10 * Private Selection - Mexican Style Hot Chocolate. A flavorful chocolate cinnamon base; chocolatey. Has marshmallow (not to Phish Food extent) and large pieces of cinnamon chocolate. For the intense flavor seekers. 7/10 * Private Selection - Extreme Denali Moose Tracks. Admittedly the chocolate base is a bit bland milk chocolate. But is an acceptable background flavor for the lightly salted and tasty fudge swirl. 6/10

2024.06.08 01:08 throwawaybords Snacking Bakes: Chocolate Cookie Help!
| I have tried making these Malted Chocolate Cookies several times, and each time I bake them they spread like crazy and then just stay flat! Functionally, the base of the recipe is the just about the same as the Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownie Cookies (slide 2), except that the peanut butter ones call for more flour. I have made those without issue. They spread a normal amount and retain their structure no problem. That said, I have tried different combinations of chilling the dough, raising the baking temperature to 375, omitting the tablespoon of oil, and adding more flour (to match the peanut butter ones), but nothing seems to help. And, I checked-- my oven is running at 350-365, depending on proximity to the hot spot, so it's not that. How do I prevent these cookies from becoming tasty crispy cookie puddles?? As an aside, I do want to say that I love both Snacking Cakes and Snacking Bakes (both by Yossy Arefi) and still highly recommend them. This is the only recipe I've ever had an issue with! submitted by throwawaybords to AskBaking [link] [comments] |
2024.06.07 17:15 GoldenPupperoni 8 Kyse Reviews: honest reviews and ratings from a gourmand girlie! (Just my opinions of course and I’d love to know yours) :)
- Delizia di Marshmallow: there’s a reason this one is the most mentioned/popular scent of hers. The only one I’ve upgraded to a full bottle ~so far~. A fluffy, airy, freshly opened bag of marshmallows. STRONG sillage and projection. Like somebody unleashed a giant ferocious jar of marshmallow fluff with legs into the wild. I’ve had people stop dead in their tracks and go, “WOAH something smells good, like cookies/brownies/baked goods/etc” and somebody said they could smell me coming around the corner (oops) I don’t spray more than twice so beware! It has this interesting element where I can’t smell it directly on my skin when I put my nose where I sprayed…yet people (and me) smell it all around me like a cloud. So again beware! I don’t really think it has a baked quality btw, it’s more raw fresh unbaked MARSHMALLOW but it’s so obnoxiously sweet and vanilla that I could see people interpreting it as just cookies/sweets/etc. Would prob layer well if you did one lil spritz. Sprayed this twice after a shower and a week and several showers later without spraying again my bathroom still smelled like marshmallows. So two sprays lasted one week and hung around like a stage 5 clinger. The way this oil sticks around is insane, like weaponized marshmallow oil. 💅🤍 No marshmallows were harmed in the making of this scent btw, at least I don’t think they were, but it seems like they had to milk thousands of them to get to this point. Yup. Thousands of marshmallows being milked on a marshmallow farm, that’s all this is. Anyways… IT DOES WHAT IT DOES AND IT DOES IT WELL. 9/10.
- Bonbons a la Vanille: DUPE ALERT, if plagiarizing perfume was actually a thing (thankfully not) this would be an example in court 😂 this is Victoria’s Secret Vanilla Lace, which has been discontinued for years. If you loved Vanilla Lace, I’ve found your dupe! It brought me straight back to middle school when I was exploring different vanilla scents trying to find The One. Totally not a metaphor for my love life. I have since found better vanillas for my chemistry (see delizia de marshmallow above…) so I’m going to respectfully pass. I don’t like the smoke note in this, it reads as “cigarette vanilla” on my skin and I hate cigs. Might keep for nostalgia though. It honestly has a hint of chalk and smoke that the original Vanilla Lace also had that kept it from being my holy grail back in the day. Nobody talks about the chalky element of Vanilla Lace…er, Bonbons a la Vanille, so I’m going to call it out right now. But bc I’m a sucker for nostalgia and spent lot of fun times with my friends dosed in Vanilla Lace: 5.5/10.
- Douceur Brûlée: a salty, sweet, buttery lemon pound cake drizzled in syrup. Very sweet and gourmand but so well crafted. Something about this scent took me straight to folk festivals in the late summer and early fall, when people sell their homemade lemon cakes and then there’s the oakmoss (earthy moss and trees) dancing in the background. It’s kind of an atmospheric gourmand and I love that! I’m scared wearing too much of this might offend some people because it also has such a heavy syrup quality? But a little bit dabbed on during a cool summer morning or cool fall day sounds divine. 🥞🍋🍞🧇🍯🍮 She’s delicious. She’s interesting. She has an artistic yet grounded view. She’s not for everyone but she evokes emotion and is so worthy of love. Ugh and I didn’t wanna mention buut full disclosure in case you have the same problem: sometimes on the WRONG day oakmoss has a tiny tiny hint of urine/sweat with my chemistry 😭 which has kept me on the fence about buying a full bottle of this even though it’s otherwise really nice. 🥲 It’s not every time and only a hint. The rest of the notes are fantastic, but maybe the salt and oakmoss gives me that sweat/urine impression on a hot humid day? So sad and keeps it from being a 9. The rest of it though touched my heart and I otherwise totally “get” the love…it’s delicious in low humidity…7.5/10.
- Cocco alla Vaniglia: IF YOU LOVE COCONUT AND VANILLA scents, this will be your jam! It’s creamy, beachy, comforting coconut and vanilla - it’s very well done for what it is. Beachy without smelling like cheap sunscreen. I’m not the biggest fan of coconut, but I enjoy and respect this. This might be easier to wear than Douceur Brûlée for some people because it’s sweet without getting into syrup territory. If you like the way Aussie deep conditioner smells (in the cylinder purple bottle), it’s kinda like that but better (a lil less chemical and more complex). It also evoked wonderful memories of staying in a beach house during the summer and deep conditioning my hair with coconut oil after spending all day playing in the sand and sun and being on the rickety wooden boardwalk :) ..there’s some subtle wood grounding this scent imo (sandalwood?) even if it’s not listed as a note. 🏖️🥥☀️🐚🪵 6.5/10.
- Oui Plus!: no offense but yuck. The notes had me so curious, but this was a scrubber on me. Smelled like a cheap $5 smore scented candle on my skin. Not gonna lie, the graham cracker note itself seemed pretty delish and has a yummy honey element so congrats if that’s what dominates the scent for you, but it quickly disappeared on me. Cheap chocolate and patchouli dominated. The chocolate note smelled sooo cheap on my skin. Remember those Hershey scented lip balms at Walmart? Not rich or delicious at all. Mixed with the patchouli and it was nauseating, felt like too much going on. Really wanted to love this. I didn’t get any of the coffee scent either. No marshmallow to sweeten the deal. Womp womp. 3/10.
- Cacao Noisette: I was scared of trying this bc of the chocolate note after Oui Plus left me repulsed. The added hazelnut and lack of patchouli allows the chocolate to be smoother and less repulsive in this but it still unfortunately has a Hershey Lip Smacker element upon opening. However it’s not entirely one dimensional bc this perfume blossoms into a cozy musk in the heart of it like being wrapped in a warm sweater so that part is nice. It’s autumnal and that part I love. 🍂 It’s inoffensive for being chocolate. There’s a yummy caramel latte in here too. Or perhaps you’re digging into a Milky Way bar in your cinnamon scented home after trick or treating. I can’t hate this and want to keep sniffing. There’s a coziness to this scent that’s lacking in Oui Plus. I just don’t think I love Kyse’s interpretation of chocolate, but I do strangely like the musk in this bc it’s cozy sweater instead of ick, and no weird smoke note either. 6.5/10.
- Gateau de Carnaval: the opening of this scent shocked me because I was immediately reminded of a preppy girl in high school/college instead of a carnival? Citrus cleaner is lightly spritzed on a dusty wooden school desk with red berries and hairspray in the background. Once it dries the high school/college nostalgia weirdness fades away and it’s clean and sweet with a strange sterile note on my skin in the heart of it. Hairspray still? Once it settles further, I find the dry down more interesting and pronounced than Zucchero Filato, but I can’t figure out what it is. Lemon? Bread? Something about it is oddly uplifting and addictive as I inhale. Lemon bread and cotton candy? It’s a bit too doughy, but I prefer the dry down to the opening. Strange but fun summer scent. Definitely a roller coaster ride on my skin but it makes me smile. I’m going to come back to this and find out what else my nose can discern. —ok I’m back, and after typing that out I just cheated and read the notes. The brown sugar and apricot listed makes sense, and the apricot is a little bit artificial. Still fun. 🥖🧡🤎🍑🍋 For keeping my attention, and because I’m an ex Pink Sugar stan and also find a hint of cotton candy in this, 7/10.
- Zucchero Filato: the dry down is a bit too similar to VS Vanilla Lace/Bonbon a la Vanille in that chalky/smoky note on my skin comes out but it’s more muted and tolerable here. I technically prefer this to Bonbons a la Vanille I guess only bc the smoke is less pronounced but they’re similar. But Bonbons (vanilla lace) gets nostalgia bias. The sweetness is less vanilla here, and more well rounded and foody. There’s a beachy element in the opening that surprised me! A creaminess that is very faint coconut/beachy perhaps? Nothing in this scent is LOUD so that’s cool, it would work out ok for a lot of people imo. It’s not a scrubber but still I’m going to pass because it’s nothing revolutionary and as much as I love the gourmand, it’s like smoked food which I was actually expecting the other carnival one to be, and nothing really else stands out and wows me. I get no fresh cotton candy, no addictive candy floss, no berries, once it dries down it’s mild creamy sweet smoke… bc it’s too safe and boring: 5/10.
TLDR; nothing beats delizia de marshmallow. I certainly couldn’t beat this giant fluff cloud in a fight 🤍🍦🦷🐇🕊️☁️🍨🎂🥛🍼🩹🤍⚪️💭◽️🗯️

2024.06.07 16:28 Mauve-Honey formula suggestions for a cheesecake accord? (and what are your experiences with lactonics?)
Hi all, does anyone have personal experience trying to create a cheesecake accord that doesn't pull fruity/coconut-y? Ideally no-bake style, creamy, like the mascarpone filling in tiramisu. A graham cracker crust accord suggestion would be amazing too.
I'm looking to make something that smells yogurt-eqsue: Ideally, a red-velvet-greek-yogurt-cheesecake. I'm planning on making my own cocoa powder tincture, but if you have an aromachemical suggestion for a dusty, dark dark chocolate, I'm definitely open to it as well. Here are some options that I feel may be good for this- I'd love to hear how they worked for you if you've tried them:
- Acetoin
- Levistamel
- Sulfurol
- Isobutavan
- Delta-tetradecalactone
- Para-vanillic acid
- Butyl Butryo Lactate
- Perfumer's apprentice Honey Lactone Essence
- Perfumer's Apprentice Milk Lactone
I'm also thinking of adding some sort of lemon element to add a buttermilk/acidic effect, and maybe black tea for astringency? I'm new to perfumery so I'd love to hear your thoughts. TIA!

2024.06.06 16:06 nutterfluffs Nerdy Nuts - toasted pbj 🍓
| My favorite dessert peanut butters arrived yesterday!!! I’m not opening all of them yet, but absolutely had to try the toasted pbj immediately. -white chocolate peanut butter -strawberry jam -toasted marshmallow frosting -mini pbj cups -mini marshmallows and sprinkles -big graham cracker chunks This is everything I love in a jar. Peanut butter and jelly with marshmallow fluff/cool whip was how I ate my sandwiches as a kid, so the graham crackers kind of act as the bread! If you’re curious as to how to eat dessert peanut butters, some people eat it straight out the jar, I spread it on top of a plain cookie or graham cracker and even on my ice cream or yogurt! It also tastes wonderful with fruit! submitted by nutterfluffs to PeanutButter [link] [comments] |
2024.06.05 19:26 TheAlphaKiller17 Van Leeuwen's Chocolate Caramel Cheesecake--3.7/10
Van Leeuwen's was on sale at Whole Foods for $4 so I decided to grab some flavors I wouldn't ordinarily try. This was one. I'm really, really disappointed.
Base ice cream--this was pretty good on its own. It tasted like a higher quality chocolate cheesecake, which is exactly what you want. Almost close to the Godiva one at The Cheesecake Factory. However...
Caramel--the caramel absolutely ruined this ice cream. It's overpowering and bad caramel. It has a burnt, liqueur taste to it and does not go at all with the flavors. I'd maybe drizzle this on whipped cream over a hot toddy but definitely not with cheesecake or ice cream. It's closer to a butterscotch, but the flavor is just wrong. And there's a lot of it.
Graham crackers--flavorless. A pointless addition. Some plain cheesecake chunks with graham cracker crust would have been much better, or perhaps a fudge swirl or some cherry pie filling.

2024.06.04 22:05 wonderluststranger PHILLY TRILOGY TOUR (vip experience thoughts + cool pics)
First off, it was a wonderful experience! I enjoyed the vibes, the music, the people just all of it MWAH! I felt like the music was well paced for the most part and I enjoyed the openers! Here’s my in depth review of the vip lounge for anyone who’s curious! (Yes I did spend $600 😭 but for nature of this tour, I’d say it’s worth it to hear these songs live and get some cute collectibles)
- To start, I got there at 3pm and was let in at 4. They scanned us in, checked our bags/tickets then we were given our merch packs which included:
1 tote bag 1 metal mug 1 collectible figure 1 signed poster 1 vip laminate 1 perfume sample sheet
Things to note were that the poster is smaller than last years’ tour but the quality was better. The tote bag is bigger and better quality. I wasn’t expecting the perfume samples so that was a pleasant surprise, although it’s more like the samples you’d get in a magazine.
- Next we were lead to the lounge area! It was very calm and serene. There were couches at my venue as well as the floor seating area. They did fill up fast but there was also more things to do besides the sitting area so you would find a seat eventually.
The museum was cool, lots of props from all the music videos! I took lots of pictures. As for the snacks, there were:
Moss cookies - chocolate cookie with coconut on top No rating since I didn’t try it, but I heard it was okay.
Sugar cookies - basic sugar cookie with crunchy icing 4/5 typical cookie but I like them so it was my favorite
Strawberry parfaits - thick vanilla yogurt with strawberries and a graham cracker crust topped with a pretzel 3/5 it was pretty good, would have been better if more cold
Gummy candies
Rose Lemonade 2/5 - it didn’t have much sugar in it, so it was very tart and watery
Horchata 1/5 - unfortunately all the drinks were watered down since the ice melted and the horchata just tasted extremely watered down. It also did taste like it had almond milk instead? It was bland.
Overall the food was okay, I did wish they would have had ingredients listed more openly since people might have had allergies. It was fun to sit down and trade with people but the snacks were meh.
There was a mini doll house craft as well as the sticker sheets. It seemed like there was enough for everyone.
- After this around 5pm, we were lead to merch. The tables had most of the merch but there was also a truck outside that had the dress and the bunny hats that people were looking for. The truck was only accessible outside and was on the other side of the building from where the VIP line was. So a lot of people didn’t get to go to the truck before being let in, and once you left you couldn’t go back in so everyone had to wait until after the show. Given that we had early access to the merch, it sucked for some that they had to wait until after when everyone had access. This could have just been a Philly thing. If you didn’t get back to the lounge by 5:30 then you couldn’t go back in. So we all just stood around.
- A little after 6 we were let into the stadium to our seats. I don’t remember exactly when the openers started but I LOVED both of them.
Melanie came on about 8:30 ish and ended closer to 11pm! The show was energetic and entertaining! Lots of moving props and lots of fire and fireworks, especially for portals. There were bubbles and balloons too at some points! It was an electric experience!
All in all, if you want more of a fancier experience and want to be let in early, the vip was worth it!

2024.06.02 11:16 reddit_judy substitute graham-crumbs vs. rice krispies?
If i'm having a dark chocolate base, for candy,
what's the easiest recipe for a 2nd layer i can put onto the chocolate which will stick to it? You can click this:
DIY LOLLY-TRAY link for clarity.
For example, rice-krispy candy has few ingredients thus easy, and i assume it would stick to a base that is dark-chocolate. But i want finer pieces. In other words, rice krispies use up real estate within each aperture of a candy mold, whereas crumbs use up less space.
So can i use the rice-krispie candy recipe, but substitute graham crumbs for rice-krispies? Will that stick to chocolate? Would you use ground nuts vs. graham-crumbs? Thanks.
Does this sound feasible for about 1/4 of a recipe of candy:
Ingredients: 3 TB butter, 5-oz. marshmallows, 1/8 tsp salt, 2-1/4 c. graham-crumbs, 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
If y'all don't mind, i'd like to take responses "off-the-air" as due to a recent flood i had, i'm short on time. Thanks!

My current favorites: -halo top (brownie caramel) -Fiber one brownies -veggies made great chocolate cakes w/cool whip -chobani zero lemon meringue flavor w/graham crumbs -clios yogurt bars (100 cal variety) -Reese’s zero pb cups (I love the 360cal bag) -sugar free chocolate pudding w/cool whip or reddiwhip (can also add some crumbled fiber one brownies) -arguably inedible but I love the halo top brownie mix BATTER but not when it’s baked lol.
