Passing background check letter

I am sorry for the long post. I needed to vent. The title summarize it all. But here is the detailed story:
Her behaviour upsets me so much. I feel like she always passes her boundaries that is why I put a distance to our friendship and friend group. I'm trying to be professional, objective and friendly. Since few months, I stopped telling my secrets and important personal things. Because she tells to others. And since I don't tell her anymore, she is questioning me much more and try to learn. (Checking my messages over my shoulder or asking who I date or do I date anyone...etc) But I keep my boundaries and say "no I am just busy."
However, I caught her again shit-talking about my work. (As she says things like "Dramaticcherry is all over the place, she is trying out too many new things, she doesn't listen me, she is not following the protocol.") We basically have different working styles, she is more strict& consistent and I am more flexible& explorer. I think that we make a good team, complete eachother, only problem is she is always venting over behind my back.. We are working on a same project and I consult her (she is actually my senior and going to graduate in 5-6 months). I definitely like her input and grateful for all her help and ideas. However, she likes micro managing, and when I try new things to explore science (like try new methods, approaches..), she gets very annoyed and "haha why you wasting your time? I don't think it would work." or "I did this stuff before a lot, I know better and it won't work." Even my supervisor not talking to me like that and encourages me when I try out my ideas.
Venting is fine, that's what I am doing here. She can do that to her bf, to friends...etc. but venting to my other colleagues makes me so sad and uncomfortable. I work with those people, and I don't want to lose their respect. But I can't and don't want to explain myself or shit-talk behind her. I just do my job and keep calm, but I get very much upset when I am home. I had a burn out because of that some months ago. Now I am getting help and try to handle. But it's not easy.
I talked to her last year when this first happened. I said that please of you have a problem tell me, not to my other colleagues. She got offended by it, that I can't interfere who she talks to. And she said, she doesn't say anything bad. Just venting. I don't see any point to talk to her anymore. Though, I like her friendship. It's just some days, I can't be okay what she is doing...
And to be very honest, there is a colleague/friend, that I really like/liked. I keep my distance since I notice my feelings, because work place crushes are never a good idea. Also whenever I got close to him (chatting, hanging, working together alone), I had the feeling that she never liked that. So that's why I also put a distance from him. And she is mostly always complain to him about me. They are also friends. That's also what makes me extra upset, that although nothing will happen with him ever, I don't want him to dislike me or have a wrong idea.)

Hi all! I am in healthcare, and there’s currently a federal job I interested in and would like to apply. However, since I work remotely, I also OE. I do both my current jobs well and always receive great performance evals. Since I know it’s frowned upon to OE, though, I only list the job I’ve been at longest on my resume. Would a general form 306 background check for a federal job show jobs I do not list on my resume? Would it be best to just put it on there?

I'm hoping to pick the brain of professional Zbrush users. First, some background about me so the context of the questions make more sense. I'm a professional freelance 2d game artist. Credits includes stuff like Hearthstone, doing icon designs for World of Warcraft, illustrations for various card and board games as well as tabletop rpgs etc. If anyone feels inclined they can check out my Artstation here. I've dabbled in 3d, but mainly just block outs to help visualize an element that needed to be illustrated, or to help me decide on lighting etc. I've recently decided that I want to develope my abilities in 3d sculpting and bring it to a professional level (as in, able to earn income with the skill set.)
So, here are the questions I'm hoping people can help me with: 1) I see a lot of "beauty renders" in portfolios, that seem like they were used as vis dev for projects. Are there many clients who are just looking for Zbrush vis dev (rather than needing workable models for games for example.)
2A) How important is it to a Zbrush artist to be able to retopologize their own models? Is this something the high res artist does, or is this a job for another artist in the pipeline? 2B) If this is an important skill to learn, should I learn it while learning to make great looking high res models, or should I focus on making great looking high res models and having great "beauty shots" and then learn this other skill down the road?
3) What are entry level freelance Zbrush artist jobs likely to be? Sculpts for 3d printing, like statues and minis? Video game models and assets? Is there an area that makes the most sense to develope toward?
4) Is there a viable market for selling 3d models that I'm making as I'm learning? Like, selling random models that indie game devs might want to purchase, or a market for 3d printable items?
5) How important is it to spend time learning and getting good at painting up the models? Is this another job/skill set in the pipeline, or is in an integral part of the job? Should I spend a lot of time on this as I learn, or spend more time modeling and improving there first?
6) What don't I know, that I don't know, that I SHOULD be asking?

This sounded like the most interesting work I've seen coming from S. Connolly in a while, and it's based on a premise with a lot of potential: examining goetic sigils to identify elements associated with alchemical symbolism. I am not really a fan of Connolly's better-known works but I thought it would be worth checking this one out.
The basic structure of the book is to go through the Ars Goetia sigil by sigil, breaking each one down into a set of alchemical symbols, conjecturing on what kind of recipe or process it represents, and interpreting it metaphorically in spiritual/psychological terms.
The first thing I found a little frustrating is that there aren't any diagrams for the symbols contained within the sigils. She just lists them off, and you have to look them up in the symbol key, which is a set of scanned pages from a 18th-century manuscript. The pages are in Latin and Connolly mostly uses English terms to refer to the things the symbols represent, and there are multiple symbolic possibilities for most entries, so it's quite a bit of work to match up the symbols according to her descriptions. Given the immense diversity of alchemical symbols and their similarity (or direct equivalency) to magical alphabet letters, astrological symbols, and other polysemous characters, it's hard to say with any certainty how accurate any of this might be. Connolly does acknowledge the subjective nature of this process and her difficulty in finding interpretations for some of the sigils.
The recipes themselves she matches up to the symbols are for alchemical and metallurgical processes as well as mundane stuff like making soap. There are some interesting ideas here, like connecting symbols for arsenic and its potential to create poisonous gas with warnings about "stinking breath" and other dangers to the practitioner, but where we mostly end up going with these interpretations is to metaphors for shadow work and mental health concepts that are consistent with ideas in modern demonolatry but would have been entirely anachronistic for the people who wrote the Lemegeton and its antecedent texts.
I appreciate that the book attempts to move the discussion forward in terms of analyzing the semiotics of goetic sigils in their historical context instead of falling back on "the spirits channeled them" or Rorschach-test interpretations like the ones in King's Faculty of Abrac, but Connolly doesn't make any attempt to reconcile her interpretations to the astrological symbolic keys provided by the Fourth Book of Occult Philosophy or the known connections between earlier sigils and magic squares. It's hard to buy into a purely alchemical interpretation of the sigils without factoring those into the analysis, and the book really would have benefitted from a more usable symbol key and diagrams of the breakdowns.
I don't think this book is a necessary read for beginning practitioners, and it's not the book we've all been waiting for in terms of decoding the goetic sigils, but you might find some value in it if you have a specific interest in sigil construction and/or the possible connections between alchemy and spirit work.

So, I received a CJO a couple of weeks ago and am basically just waiting on background checks/other paperwork to go through. I have no idea how long all of that will take, but I'm not really worried about anything not checking out since I know I don't have any criminal history and have passed more extensive background checks in the past.
But in the meantime I've kept interviewing just in case some random shit causes the first thing to fall through and had the final round of interviews for another job with the state a few days ago. It went really well so now I'm kinda wondering what I should do if I got another CJO while I'm still waiting for the first ones paperwork to go through.
On balance, the first job I got the offer for is the one I would prefer, but I also like the second and don't want to waste their time. If I were to receive a CJO from the second position, should I just tell them I have another but am waiting for stuff to go through? Has anyone else had to navigate a similar situation?

TL;DR, something I've seen mentioned on this sub is applying for a TRP at the border. Looking for advice on best places and times to do so as a self applicant / not using a lawyer.
The longer version is that I'm waiting on a response to my Criminal Rehabilitation application and would greatly appreciate entry to Canada ASAP.
The longer longer version is that in 2014 I was arrested for a DUI, convicted in 2015, completed sentence in 2016. Got sober in 2020 during Covid mania and realizing that my drinking was only holding me back in life.
Currently a regional airline pilot and to make the next step in my career I need to finally clear this hurdle to apply for "Legacy" carriers, not to mention just being able to responsibly visit places like Banff with my wife.
This is the last bit of wreckage from my past that I've got hanging over my shoulders and while I know it's not Canada's responsibility to relieve me of that burden, I am very excited about the potential of putting it behind me.
To that end, with all the stipulations of not being lawyers and not being legal advice aside, I'm just looking for advice on whether presenting a TRP application is a good move (I have all my background checks, personal statements, character references, court records, and fees paid), and what Ports of Entry, days of the week, and time of day might be most beneficial.

I feel seen without ever having posted anything about myself. I feel heard without having reached out. Now coming to the point.
I (26F) has always been fat. I have never been perceived as thin or even average. Always the "Big girl"
Not a day has passed by without me thinking about weight loss.
It wasn't just thoughts either. I have taken action. I have worked out and I have tried intermittent fasting and I was quite consistent with both.
But the problem was, I am an emotional eater. I eat when I'm happy, I eat when I'm sad. I eat when I am angry. Hell, I eat when I'm ashamed of how much I eat. I can never control my portions nor the sugar intake.
I even gave up at some point. What with the stretch marks and the unavoidable lose skin, I'm never gonna feel good even when I lose weight. What's the point in struggling?
But the beginning of this month, a thought slowly started bugging me. My 27th birthday is coming up in August. Am I healthy enough to grow older comfortably? or at least without struggling too much..
Don't ask me if I have never thought about my health before. Let's just say that I was in denial about how much my weight and my body fat percentage would affect my wellbeing. I couldn't shake this thought off. So I did something that I have been dreading for a long time. I had a full body health check up.
And my worst fear came true. It's now or never. My body was I dire need of attention.
Seeing the proof changed something in me. I'm going to prioritize my health now. I'm doing this for myself and not for outside validation. I can do it. Most importantly, I want to do it.
Here are my current body pictures, the check up results and my smart scale measurement - The three signs for me to change myself.

Hi, my dog passed away last year and I finally decided I did want to look at her necropsy results.
She had just finished SRT treatment (radiation) for a brain tumor and was doing okay.
Long story short she woke up one morning, was acting normal, and then laid down. After a while I realized she wasn't moving, and her right arm that she had been laying on was swollen. She could only lift her head up and didn't seem to be able to move her limbs. I tried to drag her to the car on a blanket but I didn't think taking her down the front steps was a good idea. I left her at the front of the top steps and got a neighbor. Sadly when we got back, she was at the bottom of the steps. She was still conscious.
On the ride I noticed she was silent which was very weird because she had laryngeal paralysis so her breathing was usually very loud. She seemed to barely be able move her head.
The ER checked her out and basically said they thought she probably had a blood clot or multiple blood clots. Maybe a spinal cord injury. Maybe the tumor spread although unlikely. She was in pain and they said there's little chance of her getting better and being and to walk, Even if it was blood clots. so I decided to euthanize her.
I was worried that the fall down the stairs ultimately caused a spinal cord injury and killed her. That's why I ordered a necropsy and I decided I would read if and when I felt ready. I was hoping it was blood clots because then that meant I didn't cause her death.
As it turns out- there were no blood clots. The limb was swollen for unknown reasons. They suspect a penetrative injury- but how can that be possible if no cut was found?
Nothing wrong with the spine or anything. The tumor had not spread. Just... Nothing.
What could possibly have caused her to not be able to move?

I woke up the other morning pretty pissed. A letter about code enforcement from the county bitching about my yard. The land has grown steep in parts, and i my attempt to mitigate damage done by previous owners, I ended up with a mound of debris that likes to grow weeds as well. I called them. Take down the weeds, they say, they will work on me with the debris.
I cannot seem to keep a string trimmer. I am less affluent than my neighbors and can only seem to afford weaker electric ones, and their batteries or really any part of them dies within the year. So, I decided to look into unconventional methods, and found how I might to take up scything.
I did a lot of research, and romanticized the idea of restoring a 100 year old American scythe like the men doing so on youtube. I immediately, late at night, searched up anybody selling some locally on FB marketplace. A man was selling two, for very cheap, very nearby. I messaged him and worked out the purchase. I fell asleep thinking of restoring the old instrument. I felt calm.
In my dream, I was bowing before three figures. One, a female, who was peeling a fruit that looked like a honeycomb full with red droplets of blood. One, a naked male with what looked like a viking helmet and a long, golden horn in one hand. The last figure I could not make out, just a scuffy, charcoal-like image on the edge of a shadow. I wept when I saw the second figure, begging him to interject on my behalf. I seemed to have entered the dream mid-conversation.
The two other figures looked to him, the woman looking on me with an almost doting expression of pity. The shadowy figure seemed to be whispering to them both in a language I did not know. Both the helmeted man and the woman nodded to it. The woman looked on me with a charitable sort of smile.
"You will have to give some token of your appreciation later." she says. Then there is a conversation I still do not remember. And I wake up. I forget the dream.
I am 34. I have several children. My two older kids want to go get the scythes with me. We hop in the car, and I drive around, getting tools to use in the restoration.
The man lives in a remote part of the next county over. It takes a while to find his house. He is waiting in his driveway. When I pull up, I immediately start feeling dread. I can't figure out why. He seems like a nice guy. Yet I feel something is off. I do some meditative breathing and calm down. I get out.
He tells me where he got them, and we talk a little. As soon as I pick up and hold one, I feel a brief moment of shock. Like in my legs and arms. I insist on ignoring the stupid feelings. I dismiss it as me being reclusive and not feeling social today. After putting the scythes in the hatch of the van, I come around to the driver side and stop dead.
The man is standing there with a piece of paper in his hand. It's a "million dollar question" he says. It's some kind of religious pamphlet on a fake million dollar bill. The man talks for a moment about death, about how we aren't going to be here forever, about how Jesus Christ is the only thing that will keep our souls from going to hell.
The whole thing redoubles the dread I feel. I am very polite and talk my way back into my car, feeling the dread mount more and more as I drive.
We stop at a light after an onramp. I am coming off an interstate turning left onto an intersecting highway. I try to breathe, feel very sick. While the light is red I for some reason decide to turn on some music, maybe it will calm me down. I get the urge to fiddle with spotify on my radio screen. I hear a loud beep. The light is green. I hesitate only a split second and then I start going.
Suddenly, a vehicle goes screaming in front of me. A red and white pickup truck. Has to be going 55 if not 65. It's a blur basically, even if I do make some of it out. I screech to a halt and then once the truck clears, complete my turn and immediately pull into the nearest parking lot, which turns out to be a bank.
My kids didn't even notice. Nobody seems to have appreciated but me how close we were to serious trouble.
As background. "Skeeters" in pickup trucks are a real pain here. They drive like dickheads, they are stereotypical as hell, and often I find that they instigate road trouble a lot. I don't know what it is about this area, but the "muh trukk" people seem to be way more prevalent than anywhere else.
Of course my reaction is rage. I wish I could have found this idiot who ran a red light and almost killed me and my kids. We were feet from a rather brutal collision.
I am exhausted by the time I get home. I disassemble the scythes and put the metal parts in a rust solution. I think about taking a nap and that is when the dream comes back to me. I remember the figures. And in my waking mind, I have theories on who they are. I do read a lot of old greek poetry and philosophy, so it could just be a coincidence.
However. If three greek gods were indeed discussing my fate in a dream, and one decided to intervene on my behalf, thanks a lot. I will find some "token of appreciation" to give.

As the title says I'm debating a TV upgrade. I live in a large bachelor apartment and scooped up a 65 inch TCL 615R (Canada) over 4 years ago for $900 CAD. It was a heck of a deal at the time and I got very lucky with a mostly clean panel (no banding), only on an all white background you can see it darken at the corners like on most LCD displays. There is blooming of course but it doesn't seem awful to me, but I do find I can't help but look for it which can be distracting.
I've been thoroughly pleased with the set and it's still going strong (hooked up through a Fire Cube as the built in Roku is trash and using a JBL Bar 1000 for sound on Arc, the TCL passes through compressed Atmos which is good enough for me).
It's a fairly bright room but I do have blackout curtains and the GF has a 77 inch A80L in a bright room and hers is still plenty bright for normal viewing, so I'm not concerned about that.
I'm just not sure if this is a worthwhile upgrade.. the TV is currently $2200CAD on Amazon which seems like as low as it will go? I currently have my TCL on a swivel stand and it looks like I just need to get 4 30mm M8 bolts and this one can go on the same stand with the same mounts.
While I do have the $, it's obviously a lot to blow on something I don't need. I'm fine with giving up DV and will be using the Fire Cube anyway... I'm aware Tizen is hot garbage so I'd just set the default input to go straight to the Cube.
I watch some sports, have a PS5 that collects dusts and watch a mix of streaming movies and TV, with Youtube on for most of the day while I work from home.
Am I really missing out on that much? Better blacks, no banding and something a bit more future proof but there's times where the TCL blows me away and when I'm watching the GFs OLED it doesn't seem night and day better than mine other than those two things.
Still I want it. I've considered LG and Sony but the Sammy is on sale and QD Oled does seem more appealing given it's a fairly bright room.
Talk me into or out of this? The price seems great for what it is and Amazon can deliver tomorrow (instant gratification?).

While living in Texas in 2004, we donated a car to a charity that supposedly cleaned them up and passed them on to people who needed them. We moved out of the state in 2006. Since then, we have periodically gotten notices from the city of Fort Worth and other related entities (tow company, law firms) about a parking ticket issued in 2007. We've told them repeatedly that we no longer owned the car when the ticket was issued but it doesn't seem to matter. We're still getting bills from the city of Fort Worth in 2024. We finally searched through all of our old paperwork, found the VIN, and paid for a certified vehicle record from the DMV. Sure enough, someone else's name is on the last title issued in 2005.
I was in the process of writing a letter and sending copies of the record to all the entities when I noticed that the plate listed on the ticket is OUR plate from back then. Even though they were issued new plates, the new ownders were apparently still driving around with our old plates when they abandoned the car?
Does anyone know if we're on the hook because they were using our plates?

It’s been a long time I wanted to submit this story to the Potato Queen herself!
It’s a long story, actually it’s two stories in one, because as it involves the same person over more than decade long, it’s worth telling the whole story all at once (and it makes it may more fun too!). I decided to share it because it’s the kind of story that doesn’t seem to happen very often.
Below you will find goodies about an ex, a wedding, a dress, a delivery company and more! Please simply be mindful English is not my first language, trying my best to entertain you all the same.
This story goes back a long way, when (let’s name him) Frank (M) and myself (F) were both in college (both 17 at the time, we’re now 33), young and naive teenagers. We started as friends and eventually decided to be together. We then decided to move to another city together, as I was about to start university.
It went well for a while and then started to go south. So, long story short, after about two years together, we decided to break up. It wasn’t a mean breakup or anything, I think we were mostly disappointed it didn’t work out. Anyway.
We live in the province of Quebec. For those who don’t know, there is this weird tradition of starting and ending about any lease on July 1st. I have no idea why, but Canada’s Day has always been for anybody moving, in this province, a synonym of sweating under the sun, moving boxes, lifting heavy things and ending the day with cold beer and cheap pizza in a new and probably not so clean apartment. Why this context? Because we broke up two weeks before July 1st. It means it was virtually impossible to find another apartment so close to this date. We were about 7 hours away from both our families living on the countryside. We were also awfully broke students. We decided to give it a chance at being roommates.
Yes, it was super awkward at first, really not easy to manage to say the least. We were walking on eggshells and were definitely on edge for a while. There were also some pretty awkward situations, like this one time he decided to bring a one night home as I was sleeping in the adjacent room. Not only that, but the shameful phone call he had to make, waking me up in the middle of the night, so I could unlock the front door because he had forgotten his keys to find out he had brought home an acquaintance of mine. Nowadays I find this story delightfully funny tbh. But on that night, as I couldn’t go back to sleep because the gal decided to show off how an amazing singer she could have been —because, oh boy, this voice carried loudly all the way to my ears for more than an hour — I did not find it funny. I was furious, but prepared myself for the eventuality it would ever happen again. Do you remember the “Tiny Wall Challenges”? Let’s just say I had some games ideas after that night.
Anyway, anybody would probably have walked away but we still deeply cared for each other. We even did better than just survive through this whole year as roommates, we decided to move into a bigger apartment with two other friends. Believe it or not, we stayed there two more years. Moreover, these years were some of the best years and I still keep lots of good memories from this period.
Fast forward to the second part of the story. After being roommates for years, at some point we parted ways and lived our lives. We maintained contact throughout the years and when Frank finally started dating his wife to be, I was absolutely happy for him. He asked her to marry him and she said yes! Our friendship still held such a high place in both our hearts that he asked me to be one of his groomsmen, with his other best friend and his little brother. I felt so honoured, as I was technically a female, to be chosen to be on his side at the wedding.
The bridesmaids chose matching dresses in a beautiful forest green, all from a specialized website from UK, and I was to also be in a dress on the groom’s side, but matching the colour of the other groomsmen suits. With Frank, We all shopped together for their suits, chose a beautiful dark grey for his and a light grey for us, and we were able to match it perfectly with clothing samples I ordered from the website. Everything was going as planned. That being done, I ordered the dress, considering buying two inches heel shoes to go with it. It would take about four months to be done and the dress would arrive about a month and a half before the wedding. I decided to wait for the dress to arrive to pick shoes to go with it.
Four months passed, and I finally received a notice that the dress was on its way. The bridesmaids dresses arrived a bit before mine and they were all absolutely beautiful. As we all ordered from the same shop, we were able to choose different dresses that suited each of our styles, with identical fabrics that made the whole thing look fantastic.
I received the delivery’s notice, saying it was to be delivered by DHL. (If you never had to deal with this delivery company before, let’s just say this in itself is a red flag, but what could I do.)
I chose a delivery date that I could be home all day. I awaited their arrival, and waited. At some point I received a notification that they couldn’t deliver it because there was an error in the address. I called DHL customer service as soon as I read it and could verify with the clerk on the phone that there was no error on the original delivery address and that actually, internally, they miss-wrote a letter of the postal code. The person assured me that the delivery person would be notified and they would then be on their way back.
I waited. It never came.
The next morning, I received a notification that, unable to deliver it, the expeditor had agreed to DESTROY the package! I screamed! Why in the world would the UK online shop allow to destroy a custom made dress that took four months to do?! And why the hell the delivery service didn’t make any other attempt after being responsible of the address error in the first place. I was beyond mad. I called DHL, they confirmed someone at the company had agreed on the destruction of the item. I wrote to the person I was in contact with from the beginning at the online shop (this lovely clerk who clearly never asked for any of this). Over there, they couldn’t find who the hell agreed to this insane request to destroy the dress. They were also appalled and didn’t understand how it could have happened. They could put a request to redo the dress rush, but we first needed to either try to stop the destruction from happening by going to the DHL warehouse directly, or to obtain a proof from DHL that the dress was irreversibly lost forever.
It felt surreal! The fiancées were both furious too. There was only one DHL warehouse we could go to do this kind of request in the city and it was really far. As the clock was ticking, they jumped in their car, joined me, and to the warehouse we went, arriving a few minutes before closing like an epic movie scene. The clerk there was mind blown by the whole situation. It seemed we were too late and the best we could do was to have the proof that, in their system, the dress had effectively transited and was destroyed.
With photos as proof in hand, I forwarded everything to the clerk of the online dress shop. Days passed, as they were awaiting the okay to start sewing a new dress. They were really trying their best to help the situation but it seemed to be a mess over there about the whole situation. We were now a month before the wedding. At some point, I was starting to panic. They finally agreed to redo it, but it would be waaaay too close before the wedding to receive it. Like a few days before kind of close, if nothing happened in transport this time.
I decided to go shopping for another dress. I spent a whole day trying to find the perfect grey that would fit the other groomsmen suits. In the last possible boutique, there was one dress checking all the criteria. I bought the new one and wrote to the first shop, hoping they would agree to refund the lost dress.
I took an appointment later that week to do the adjustments on the new dress. I then shopped for shoes. I found a cute pair with one inch heel that would be perfect for me. I’m not used to walking with heels, so the lower the better after all.
Like all this turmoil wasn’t enough, my family called and told me that my grandfather’s health suddenly decreased. Remember? Seven hours drive from family. I canceled some plans and bought a ticket for the night’s bus ride right after the dress fitting. On that morning, the UK shop agreed to refund the dress. That part was a big relief. I went to the dress fitting. At last, three weeks before the wedding, The second dress would be ready in about seven days. I came back home to gather some things to get back out to catch my bus.
But suddenly, the doorbell rang.
I opened.
Some DHL delivery man casually gave me a package and left.
Yes. That’s what you think.
I closed the door, went to my room, sat on the bed, opened the bag. It was indeed the first dress. I had a melt down. I cried so hard. I put the dress down, looked at it, told it “I’ll deal with you when I come back” and went away to the bus station.
Few days later, coming back from the family, I collected the second dress and dealt with the first one, which no longer fitted the length of the shoes! My MIL at the time knew an old lady who was lovely enough to accommodate me and do the fitting of the first one for a as modest price. I decided to keep it a secret until the wedding day. (These friends wouldn’t do any drama about reveals etc, nor would they think it was stealing any of their thunder, don’t worry about that.)
On the wedding morning, I effectively surprised the bride and groom with both dresses. They were mind blowed, flabbergasted to say the least! I put the original one for the official photoshoot and discretely changed right after dinner for the other one. People around that had followed the incredible adventures were laughing out loud and finding it hilarious that I decided to wear both of them as I had so much troubles!
Quite a story with dresses and with an ex, right? Guess what, I’m also the godmother of their first child!

One of our best friends was passed down a beautiful watch from her mother when she turned 18. It's a great story and is one of her most valued possessions. I'd love to do the same with my twins (boy and girl), but if I'm buying a watch that needs to last 18 years for them to reach adulthood, and then last throughout their lives too, I want to buy something good.
My budget is really anything around the $1-2k range per watch. But my brain keeps fixating on a Cartier Panthere and an Omega Speedmaster which are ridiculously out of that price range lol. I'm looking for recommendations on buying these used (still, I know, double my budget) and then recommendations for similar types of watches.
The second question: If I were to buy watches and let them sit for 18 years before gifting them to the kids, I'm assuming that's going to require servicing over the years to keep them working well. Am I better off just buying them watches when they turn 18? I have this idealist picture in my head of my kid seeing me wearing a Speedy their entire life then being surprised when it's passed down to them, but I'm hesitating. Someone give me a reality check: is this a dumb idea? Should I just buy them a watch that they pick out when they turn 18?
