2024.05.19 00:49 Candieweb Starting to see results!

Starting to see results!
So I am very new to the whole world of skin care but I was prescribed Tretinoin in February for hormonal chin acne and the anti-aging benefits. I started doing a lot of research and have ended up with these products for my routine. Sorry, I don’t really have a good before but I consistently had chin acne pop up around the time of my cycle and was getting really frustrated. After starting the Tret, I experienced some dryness and sensitivity, maybe alittle purging but nothing crazy. So I’ve heavily focused on moisturizing during this process and I feel like I’m finally starting to see improvements in the texture and brightness of my skin and less acne around the time of my cycle. Excited to continue this journey.
Names of products I use:
am routine:
1) Kate Somerville goat milk moisturizing cleanser with the FOREO Luna 3 (sensitive skin) 2) Rhode Glazing milk 3) Strivectin super C spf 30 - vitamin c moisturizer 4) drmtlgy universal tinted moisturizer spf46
pm routine:
1) Kate Somerville goat milk moisturizing cleanser with the FOREO Luna 3 (sensitive skin) 2) Rhode Glazing milk 3) .025% Tretinoin 4) Laneige Water bank blue hyaluronic cream moisturizer 5) Laneige Cica sleeping mask

2024.05.19 00:02 Senior-Zebra-9281 Whats your experiences been with glymed / face reality / skinbetter ?

I have been breaking out comonedal acne all over face non inflamed acne ( under the skin ) rough texture I thought I was doing everything right buying the best of the best slowly introducing everything one at a time my current routine goes as follow Vanicream cleanser ( I suspect causing hot feeling and breakouts on skin ) Daily power defense ( maybe to occlusive for summer ) Glymed comfort cream ( I suspect breaking me out ) it’s aloe based and I don’t think my skin likes it lol Hydrinity vivid brightening serum ( I like it but not acne safe ) I have been eyeing to put mandelic acid in the routine , skinbetter alpharet in rotation and Jan Marini bioclear lotion Any thoughts on these brands or particular products?

2024.05.18 23:37 IzzieBells Acne Scars & Eye Cream recommendations

Hi!! I’ve recently this past year been taking better care of my skin and it has improved tremendously!! Like my face is looking amazing and for once I feel comfortable leaving the house with no makeup. However, I have a few acne scars (one really noticeable on my chin) from when I wasn’t really taking good care of myself and it’s like a constant reminder of that time and I was just curious if there’s any recommendations to help with acne scars. And eye cream to help with like lifting (is that the right term?) and help a bit with dark circles. My skin is super sensitive with combination skin and prone to reactions that’s why I wanted to get opinions before buying anything.
My current routine in case it’s needed
AM: Tatcha Matcha cleanser, Tatcha Dewy moisturizer and Glow Recipe watermelon dew drops in my foundation or on bare face if no makeup that day PM: Cerave Oil Cleanser, Tatcha Rice Wash, The Ordinary Niacinamide 10%+Zinc1% serum, Tatcha water cream
Any advice would be welcome!

2024.05.18 23:20 wanyaaa_ [Routine Help] Kikumasamune Skin Care Emulsion with Adapalene

Hello! Treating post-pill hormonal acne here (still have PCOS if that's relevant). I'm on week 4 of doing 0.1% Adapalene right now and my face is still shedding under makeup. My friend gifted me a bottle of Kikumasamune Skin Care Emulsion and she said it has ceramides and stuff but I'm not sure if I can use it with Adapalene. My occlusive moisturizer after Adapalene was Illiyoon Ato Ceramide Cream but I think it's breaking me out (and it doesn't stop the peeling) so I also got Purito Oat-in Calming Gel Cream but I'm unsure which one to add to my routine.
AM - Water - Numbuzin No. 5 Vitamin Concentrated Serum - Cos de baha 5% Tranexamic Acid + 5% Niacinamide - SKIN1004 Hyalu-cica Sun Serum
PM - Kose Cleansing Oil - Soonjung Foam Wash - Cos de baha 10% Azelaic Acid - Dr. G Red Blemish Moisturizer - Aquaphor on sensitive areas (T-Th-S) - 0.1% Adapalene (T-Th-S) - Illiyoon Ato Ceramide Cream
Do I swap Illiyoon with Kikumasamune Emulsion or the Purito Oat-In Calming Gel Cream? I'm also open to other suggestions as long as they're also fungal acne safe!

Hello ! Currently feeling very bored, lonely and attention starved.. surely there has to be someone out there for me right.. right? 👀. Anyways I will say now that I would prefer you to be UK based so we can meet up, hangout and possibly play video games?! I'm a gamer after all 😅. I am NOT looking for nsa or casual. I am however looking for something longterm where we can both slowly fall for eachother.
Here's where I'll describe myself!
Alt, curvy, cute? ( You decide) nice accent, nerdy , gamer (Playstation) 👌. 5"4ft and I've been told I look like a total snack! 👀. Again you can decide for yourself! I love music, memes, movies , eating pizza and ice cream... I'm clingy, needy and I fall fast ! So hopefully you'll be there to catch me. I am also a night owl ! Yay... Still here? Good! I love voice calls and voice notes so please do too! Confidence is key with me, I find it very attractive.
Here's what I am seeking!
A man! Obviously.😅. Gamer too! Taller then me , clean, hygienic, I love men with dark hair and glasses. My preferred body type is lean/athletic (again that's my preference). You must be an effective communicator ! And love voice notes and calls too :). I also do require alot of attention so hopefully your schedule isn't super busy or you can at least make time for me. If you're near London then I would like to meet up ASAP! Although I don't drive lol. I do make a great passenger tho! My age preference is 23-35.
I'd respectfully ask that you include as much details as possible in your response and a photo too! Bonus points if you read my whole post and can tell me your favourite colour ! 🩷.

2024.05.18 20:53 fire_inthe_skies Help with PIE

Help with PIE
Looking for any tips or recommendations on fading post-inflammatory erythema! Have tried to attach pics in different lighting
So I started getting hormonal acne around 10 months ago (before this I had never suffered with acne, and in fact used to get compliments on my skin a lot). I think I have largely managed to get the active breakouts under control (besides the odd one that will crop up around my period), however I am left with a lot of PIE red marks. I know time is the best healer for this, but I wondered if anyone had any products they found helpful, or if anyone has had success with laser?
At the moment I am using Skin & Me (tret + azaelic acid) in the PM with Dermalogica’s repair cream, and vitamin C and SPF in the morning.

2024.05.18 20:35 Civil_Stop9948 Skin Help!

Skin Help!
Hello! This is my first Reddit post. Since January (so about 4 months now), I have struggled with my skin, acne/rash? Who knows. Yes, I have a dermatologist appointment scheduled for next week to see what is going on. Anyway, I have red forehead bumps that are very persistent, cysts and inflammatory pimples around my mouth, and red bumps on my cheeks which I have never experienced before. I have these weird tiny little bumps near my hairline that come and go. My skin texture completely changed, more rough and bumpy and not smooth like it used to be. In the past, my only problem areas were sometimes my forehead but especially around my mouth, never the cheeks! I have had my fair share of skin issues, however for the past 3 years my skin has been under control and issues have been minimal.
This came out of nowhere and nothing in my skincare routine, hair routine, or life changed when this started. I’m wondering if it is hormonal or more bacterial, so that is why I will be seeing a dermatologist. Has anyone else had similar skin issues that looked like this? I have attached pictures for reference.
My routine is simple right now.
AM either Vanicream gentle face wash or Panoxyl 4% and the Vanicream moisturizer, the one in the small tube. I cut out sunscreen (I know that’s bad) until I figure out the issue.
PM Garnier micellar water, Vanicream gentle face wash, tretinoin cream 0.025% on dry skin (I’ve been using Tretinoin for the past 3 years so I know that is not the issue here), and the same Vanicream moisturizer.
I cut out a lot of skincare I was previously using because my skin is now so dry and red and seems so irritated for no discoverable reason. I have combination skin. My forehead is so oily and the rest of my skin is pretty normal to dry depending on the season.
I’m on hormonal birth control and have been for years so I’m wondering if I need to switch back to Tri Sprintec. Currently on generic Yaz. I used to use Tri Nessa however that was discontinued and changed to Tri Sprintec.
Thanks in advance! :)

2024.05.18 20:20 Glum-Measurement-255 Please help!!

Please help!!
In February of this year I started to break out heavily which has never happened to me before! I've always had the occasional blind pimples etc but never full on acne.
I do have an issue of picking my skin which has been going on for the last two years that I am trying to stop (developed due to exam stress) so majority of the hyperpigmentation is from that!
But I have no clue how to solve both the active acne + closed comedones. Please could someone give me advice/skin care regiments that could be of help!
I am currently using: AM - round lab 1025 dokdo cleanser; anua toner; snail mucin; neutrogena hydro boost gel cream
PM - round lab 1025 dokdo cleanser; anua toner; snail mucin; neutrogena cream/ for the last month i've been using this cream twice a week that was sent from my home country that contains benzoyl peroxide, retinol, mandelic acid, glycolic acid (i do think it's too much however my skin looked worse before using it)
I have also changed my diet to diary-free + limited processed foods and sugar. I started prioritising probiotic rich food, etc and also began taking zinc tablets and probiotics tablets. I also drink a green juice probably 5 times a week and have spearmint tea twice a day. Should I do anything else regarding my diet?
Please help since i'm so tired of seeing my skin like this haha

2024.05.18 20:18 Hbgb88 Sweet Barbara & the bad skin

Sweet Barbara & the bad skin
We’ve tried so many things through the vets and her skin seems to be worse than ever, I was hoping I could ask my fellow potato owners for some advice! Barbara has had this skin flare up that the usual treatment of chlorhexidine wipes isn’t fixing. She eats only hypoallergenic grain free biscuit (James Wellbeloved brand - UK) and she gets her paws and snout cleaned daily. She’s losing fur in huge patches, and she’s got big bald bits on her butt (unusual for her). So far the vet has prescribed steroid cream for her sore spots (this unfortunately didn’t seem to do anything), a nutrient supplement for her fur, then antibiotics, then the Cystophan injection. The Cystophan seems to have stopped the itching but her fur loss is off the charts and she just doesn’t seem right to me. She keeps getting these crusty sores popping up and I can’t figure out why. The vets are at a loss, so I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar and if they had any advice? I feel like I’m letting her down by not being able to stop this!

2024.05.18 20:03 Espurresper Side effects of Apostrophe Metro/Iver? Sulfur smell?

Hi all, I got prescribed 1/1% Metro & Ivermectin lotion for my type 2 rosacea (and also spiro for hormonal acne) from Apostrophe. I’ve started both on Monday, but I’m only doing the lotion every other night to start as advised. So far it’s been going ok; I feel like on my off nights (the nights I don’t apply the cream), my face looks better than it has in a while the next day, and then kinda regresses back again in redness of bumps/noticeability the following day after using it for the night. I still think is overall a good sign of the cream helping buuut…
Last night was my third time using it overall, and something really odd happened this morning. I took my shower, washed my face with my vanicream, pat my face dry, sprayed my hypochlorous spray, and then used my purito re-barrier moisturizer once it dried. Once I took my hands away from my face however, they came back smelling oddly…sulfur-like?? Obviously neither the spray or my moisturizer are supposed to smell like that, so I was wondering if it could be a weird effect from the metro/iver cream? Has anyone else had this or any insight as to why my face randomly started smelling like sulfur? Strangely this is distressing me more than any aesthetic qualms lol

2024.05.18 19:10 tugrul_ddr France doesn't know difference between correlation & cause about events in New Caledonia.

Colonization is not good. It feeds off of vital parts of native workforce of a country. One day people realize they’re in slavery (their occupiers gain more vote-power to do anything for free) and rise up by themselves and quite possibly show respect (like waving their flags) to those who do same against their common invader.
Don’t forget that Austraila showed certain degree of respect to Atatürk (and the respect is mutual). There are statues in there. There are, again, thousands of kilometers distance between Turkey - Australia and Turkey is not “interfering” in Australia (just in case UK does similar accusations). Some people need to know that respect & friendship are not “interfering”. It is a correlation, not a direct cause.
People are drowned more when ice-cream is sold more. You can’t accuse ice-cream for drowning people. It’s the people going swimming in summer (and some can’t swim) and independently ice-cream is sold more in summer. Knowing difference between correlation & cause is important:
Ice cream is not the guilty. It is the summer that triggers both independently. They can freely wave flag of Azerbaijan whenever they want. It's a sign of respect. (again, mutual I guess)

2024.05.18 19:01 butterbabie [acne] stubborn adult acne, recommendations, spironolactone alternatives?

[acne] stubborn adult acne, recommendations, spironolactone alternatives?
Hello, I am a 27 year old female with a history of hormonal and cystic acne on the face.
Up until around 24 years old, I was dealing with large painful cystic pimples primarily on my forehead and chin. I always had at least 3 angry big pimples with a couple smaller bumps, but my main problem was the big cysts on my chin and/or forehead. At 24, I moved states, and began breaking out on my cheeks and jawline, which was abnormal for me. I thought it was the stress of moving, but it was so painful, so I began tazarotene cream .1%, and about 4 months in, my derm at the time prescribed spironolactone to help it along. It definitely calmed down the breakouts, but it more so just brought my skin back to its original state of at least 2-3 cysts + some bumps. Eventually, I stopped the spiro (after abt 1.5 years) cuz it was messing with my period too much. I continued using tazorac for about 6 months after ceasing spiro. After that, i could not keep the cysts or little bumps at bay, so I stopped tazorac and went back to a gentler routine focused more on hydration (im oily/combo skintype) + 1-2 weekly chemical exfoliation, which i wasnt really doing while on Taz bc it was too harsh.
basically, nothing I am doing seems to be helping, and im so tired of feeling so bad about my skin that I cancel plans or refuse to leave the house without a hood and mask lol
So spiro is the only thing that seemed to help me, but looking for other recommendations or alternatives that may help this kind of hormonal acne that responded relatively positively to spiro (and also otc azelaic acid) but responded poorly or not at all to anything else. (trying to avoid accutane cuz history of bad mental health)
current routine: AM: - inkey list hyaluronic acid cleanser - glossier niacinamide + zinc (superpure) OR paulas choice bha toner (1-2 days a week) - centella ampoule - cocokind barrier repair serum - peach slices aqua gel moisturizer
PM: - cleansing balm - dermalogica skin clearing gel facewash - glossier super pure OR the ordinary glycolic acid toner (1-2 nights a week) - centella ampoule - cocokind barrier serum - peach slices aqua gel moisturizer - the ordinary azelaic acid suspension 3x nights a week (the only active thing that i think helps)
and finally, that is a pic of my cheek at it’s BEST these days in case a reference may be useful. the smaller not-red bumps occasionally itch, but eventually become full blown pimples and then go back to “dormant”. I appreciate kindness and any and all help!

2024.05.18 18:49 matsuri_6678992 How do yall treat ur acnes and acne scars?

Madami akong acne and acne scars kung tutuusin mas madami pa yata yung acne scars, almost 2yrs na akong nag s suffer because of my face hindi ako maka gala w my friends and cousins hindi ko alam yung gagawin ko i LITERALLY did everything just to get rid of this shit, i bought cleanser, moisturizer, serum, face mask, the green thing idk, and scarminator cream, sinabi ng mom ko na bawasan yung mga products so ginagamit ko nalang is cleanser face mask yung green tas yung scar yung dalawa jan it contains salicylic acid which is for acne scars, pero i feel like wala naman siyang nagagawa.
Still guys, can yall recommend some product na nakakawala talaga ng acne scars hehe if ever di nag work yung dermatix ultra. Thankyou so much.

2024.05.18 18:48 CheesyFlute69 Bad chin acne breakout over the last couple weeks has calmed down, but I want to reduce these marks and prevent further issues

Bad chin acne breakout over the last couple weeks has calmed down, but I want to reduce these marks and prevent further issues
(For context, I had a seperate really bad acne breakout years ago on my chin as well which caused me to see a dermatologist and go on Roacutane for a year while using a gentle cleanser and CeraVe moisturizer as my routine, and since then, I’ve been mostly following the same routine until some changes in recent months).
I’ve had stress build up recently due to exams, personal life, upcoming solo trip, etc, so maybe that could be a factor in this breakout. Also due to how busy I’ve been, I haven’t been as consistent in the gym for the last while which also could be relevant. I’ve got a combination skin-type with dry chin/ cheeks and an oily t-zone if that helps.
I’ve been using just a La Roche Posay gentle foaming cleanser and CeraVe moisturizer, with occasional differin gel at night for the last year or so, but in April I went down a rabbit hole of products and ended up with a new routine to double cleanse, hydrate, etc
Here’s the routine I’ve been using since April until recently:
-Day 1: AM Warm shower to open pores followed by La Roche-Posay gentle foaming cleanser, then cold water to close pores followed by The Inkey List omega water cream as a moisturizer.
PM Warm water to open pores, then use The Inkey List oat cleansing balm, then The Inkey List salicylic acid cleanser, then The Inkey List hyaluronic acid serum, finish with omega water cream.
-Day 2: AM Warm shower again without any cleanser to not “over-cleanse” my face, then close pores with cold water, and moisturize with omega water cream.
PM Warm water, oat cleansing balm, La Roche-Posay gentle foaming cleanser, differin gel, hyaluronic acid serum, omega water cream.
-Repeat Days 1 and 2 in this order for each day afterwards.
This routine was seemingly working for a while with no purging or breakouts except for a spot every once in a while which was still better than before. But in the last couple of weeks I’ve had this sudden breakout which I think has hopefully calmed down now.
Since the breakout, my PM routine has been the oat cleansing balm, Inkey List salicylic acid cleanser or La Roche-Posay gentle foaming cleanser, CeraVe moisturizer, and La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+M as a spot treatment (which I think is the reason why the spots are so red as this picture was taken just after waking up).
Apologies for the long post, just wanted to provide every detail possible to help with context. Any help is really appreciated 🙏
(Also, dont mind my lips, forgot to put on chapstick 😭)

2024.05.18 18:46 CBBlyes Medication Working Too Well. Advice?

Hello,
I could really use some advice, because I’m not too sure what to do at this point in treatment and feeling a bit hopeless.
Quick backstory, I’m a 23 M about 175 pounds. My acne was never bad, but I suffered from constant whiteheads, inflammed bumps, and the occasional cyst since 15. I truly fit the “recurrent and unresponsive to other treatments” reason for prescribing Accutane. I started in December 2023 and dosage (mg) to date has been 40:60:80:80:80:60. The drop from 80 to 60 is why I’m posting.
The Accutane worked instantly at 40; within a week all my acne disappeared and I didn’t get another pimple until halfway through 60. It was magical. Of course I had dry skin, lips, eyes, but nothing even close to outweighing the benefits or what I had heard from others’ experiences. First month on 80 was when everything changed. I got 3 cysts in a matter of a month, facial skin got extremely dry, rashes on hands and arms, skin started peeling off toes and bleeding (especially when working out), back pain, nose bleeds, beard hairs/follicles bleeding etc — the works. I kept pushing but eventually enough was enough and I reached out to my dermatologist who prescribed me a month of Prednisone. I had never taken a steroid in my life up to that point, but instantly 95% of the side effects subsided and all inflammation from the cysts disappeared.
Fast forward to last month, I ran out of my Prednisone and most side effects came back, and even more intense. But to my surprise, after my first time shaving my beard (I use straight razor, 2 blade, shaving cream, with grain, once weekly) I got the worst razor burn and bumps. I tried OTC Hydrocortisone and Aloe, but it didn’t work. I gave it a week, but no relief. I reached out to my dermatologist who prescribed Triamcinolone Acetate (topical steroid cream). Again, weeks of application and some relief, but still noticeable irritation.
What’s bothering me now, is my beard is so painful. I try to let it grow and not touch it, and it’s almost as if Eczema is occurring underneath and the beard hairs feel like needles; but if I do shave, the “Eczema” subsides but the bumps become more obvious (pictures 24 hours ago).
I feel like a shell of myself. My acne is flawless. I haven’t had a pimple in months and it’s obvious the medicine has done a fantastic job.. but possibly too well.
Any advice? I plan to reach out to my dermatologist tomorrow. I want to quit the Accutane early, but I’m scared of relapsing. I’m tracked for 9 months and have almost completed 6. The decrease to 60 was my request, and I don’t know when/if I’ll see a difference in the side effects. I can handle almost all the side effects throw my way so far, but the beard crossed the line.

2024.05.18 18:17 silverwing_3 Why am I so bad at shaving?

It has to be me, right? I've tried foam, I've tried thick creams, and my current favourite is a thin moisturizing one. I've used electric razors (flat and round heads, I couldn't believe how little they did, quite literally no hair removed at all in places), disposables, cartridge.
I have a Henson now, and it's... Better? It's the default blades that come with the thing. I do it with the grain, sideways, and only against after that. I pull my skin tight. I let the razor be the weight, and don't push much. Though, obviously, I've tried every variation I could.
It takes about 15 strokes per spot to shave it. I'm not picky, I'm not looking for a close shave, just not... Completely visible. It takes so goddamn long to shave, I'm just lucky I only need to every 2-3 days. I'll admit I have cystic acne, so I'd expect it to be rougher around the cysts, but even in the clear places, it's not much better. I also get a lot of razor burn no matter what I do, lots of red dots and rashes, but I'm chalking that up to how many strokes I need.
What on earth is there left to do?

What on earth is there left to do? How can I make wet shaving actually work, and like, shaving at all?
