So after 2 days of no service, a got in contact with a good rep who fixed the problem in minutes. That was my 6th rep that I attempted to get help from. The issue was the QR code they sent didn’t activate my ESIM. I even tried it manually so I don’t know what the issue was. My phone just kept telling me unknown error. She sent another and it worked. Weird.
Anyway, now, I have service (bars, phone calls, text), but I don’t have data… I have an IPhone 13 Pro . It’s up to date. I am fully separated from my other carrier. I am in a place that has data. I have reset my network settings. I have gone in airplane mode on and off. I have turned the device on and off. I just have no internet. My gf also has Mint with and an IPhone. Hers is fine. Any ideas? Hoping it’s something easy to fix that I missed. Maybe the towers are just down for a bit? Idk. Thanks 🙏

Long story short. Tech came over to install 10 multigig service. He installed the line from box on side of house and ran the line around and through my wall. I saw him plug in the fiber to his laptop to make sure the signal was good (I think).
I opted to rent the router. The Router is tp link archer axe16000 axe300. He started to set it up, and i was like.." oh.. its ok i can handle it, you can go bro." I noticed as i was saying that- all 4 lights were solid red on the router.
I thought "uh oh.... .... ... naaa. Im sure its fine" I tipped him and he was on his way.
Well..
Its now 6 days later. Still not working. Its either a router config problem or he goofed with one of the converters.
(Im brand newish to fiber, but expert in many things tech. Ill do my best to explain)
Cabling is
thin black cable with lightish green square connection------ female/female green plastic converteextender ------ thicker black wire with darker green square connection ---------- another green female/female platic piece --------- yellow cable with light green sqaure connector ------- same yellow cable with blue connector ------ SFP+ BIDI LR Module ------ combo port of the TP link router.
The blue connector into sfp is in the side with the arrow pointing away from router. Not sure if thats correct?
Also the thicker black cable in the middle of this wire topolopy seems akward. Not sure if its needed ?
If nmthese are all done correctly then someone please exain how to set up the router ?

IP: 50.xxx.x.46 Gateway: 50.xxx.x.45 (this a typo?) Subnet: 255.255.255.252 Dns: 192.152.0.1 / 192 152 0.2
I can get the router to show poor connection with internet but stil not set up correctly. Little confused on if i should choose dynamic or static and how to set up ip4 and ip6 (if needed). Also not sure if i am supposed to have any other specific settings since there is no ONT.

A few years ago, I worked as a customer service representative for a major telecommunications company. I remember one call that still makes me laugh till today. A customer called, complaining about a faulty internet modem. I was following the script provided, asking him to perform checks and rebooting the modem several times, but nothing seemed to work. I could feel the frustration growing in the other end of the line; the customer was annoyed I was just following a script, not really understanding his problem.
After a while, I took a step back and thought about the problem applying the "First Principles Thinking" mental model. Instead of following a predefined sequence of troubleshooting steps, I broke down the problem into its fundamental parts. I started asking the customer questions about the modem, its placement, surrounding electronic devices, and even their internet usage habits.
Soon enough, I discovered that the customer's new foster kitten had found the modem wires quite amusing. The modem was not faulty; it was just a victim of a feline attack. By applying a mental model, I managed to solve the issue and save our company from replacing a perfectly good modem.
Most of the time, scripts are efficient, but they can't beat the flexibility and adaptability of applying mental models. The difference is like reading lines from a script in a play versus improvising. In the former, you are expected to play according to the words given, while in the latter, you have the freedom to create scenes based on your understanding and interpretation.

All of this has happened in the last month.
Friday, I had a doctor appointment. When I signed in the assistant asked if I had an emergency contact. I thought I had given this doctor this information before, but no biggie. I gave her my spouse's name and contact info. The assistant then asked me for my spouse's birthday. What? No. I asked the assistant how that mattered. The assistant had no answer, but said she could not enter my emergency contact's information without the birthdate.
Last month my family switched cellphone carriers. We both have 4 year old phones that we bought outright and are working just fine. We just wanted a better deal on our service. Yes it was a hassle. Yes, we spent an hour of our lives dodging and weaving all the add-ons not listed in the advertised price. When we got our first bill it was 50% higher than we were expecting. So I called the customer service department at our carrier. Turns out the sales rep at the store added phone protection to our plan. After I explained what happened the customer service rep was able to remove the plan from our phone, but I had to call a completely separate number to get the charges removed. Aargh! Finally got the second customer service rep to remove the charge for the current billing cycle. Just got a new bill this week, and lo and behold we are overdue and have a late fee tacked on. Because we switched carriers toward the end of the billing cycle the last couple of days were pro-rated and tacked on to our next month's bill. Even though the customer service rep in billing said she assured me she had removed all of the protection plan charges, she didn't remove them from the pro-rated portion of the bill.
My family owns a house in the country. Every year we have to renew our propane contract. This year, the propane company decided instead of emailing us a contract like they do every year, we now have to renew our contract online. Fine. Whatever. My wife reads through the contract (because she is that way), then goes to submit the online form and notices there is another terms of service requirement not in the contract. So, she reads that too before clicking. For some reason our propane company demanded that we turn over all of our internet history to them (I shit you not) that they could then do whatever they wanted with including sell it to third parties and give away to law enforcement without a warrant. Well, we're not doing anything illegal, but seriously? Why the fuck does our propane company need this information to sell us fucking propane?! My wife called them up and chewed them out. The propane company ended up sending us a paper contract.
Each one of these situations are minor nuisances, but they are adding up to huge wastes of time and effort on our part. Why the fuck does it have to be so goddamn hard to just go about our lives without businesses trying to steal everything from us that isn't glued down, nailed down, hermetically sealed, buried 6 feet under with concrete poured on top?

Second opportunity: In February 2024, I applied for a rotational marketing program and got in. The program stated that the start date is July 1st. However, after that congratulations email in Feb, from Feb till May, even though I reached out via email 2-3 times, they did not respond back to me regarding the program next steps or any details. Hence, I decided to continue my life as if the opportunity didn’t exist.
Righttttt after I signed the contract with the first opportunity, guess what, the rotational program got back to me last Friday, Jun 7, stating that the program will start on July 1st.

- I get to work different positions. The program is not super structured. So I can tell my manager at each company that I’d like to explore different things, and they might be able to help. So I can potentially do marketing analytics, product marketing, etc. things that I always want to explore
- The biggest pros is the network. Working at these big companies would allow me to know so many more people at the top of the industries in these companies. Past program participants told me that the mentors in the program are current Heads of these companies, and very well-known in the industry. They can help me to get all the right connections that I need to kickstart my career. I've talked with 2 Heads in my interview to get into the program. And I know that I can learn a lot from them.
- The cons
- While the intern salary is low (56k), the biggest cons is the fact that the workplace is ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY. So if I take this, basically I’ll have to uproot my entire life here, find a new place and move across the country to an entirely new city in just 3 weeks, with no preparation on both ends.
- I am currently sharing a 1 year lease in a place with my boyfriend. The apartment is small but we both love it. If I move, we’ll have to break the lease, my bf might have to move elsewhere since he can't afford the apartment himself (I also recommend that worst case scenario I can pay part of my rent even though I don’t live there so we don’t lose the place and they won’t have to move out)
- Another thing is my status here in Canada. With how things change recently, in order for me to stay long term here, I will need to acquire permanent resident status within the next 2 years (Until 2026). My bf and I are planning to do a common law sponsorship, in which a critical criterion is we’ll have to physically share a place together for minimum 1 year until February 2025. (A back up plan would be for me to learn and be fluent in French within 1-1.5 year, with absolute 0 French knowledge, which I heard is very hard to accomplish to learn a new language to that level within a year). If I move across the country now, I would lose the common law option, and have only 1 option of learning French left. If I take the first opportunity, then I can stay with my bf, and get a permanent status in 1-2 years.

I moved into a new place about 10 weeks ago, an annexe to a main house. Unfortunately I cannot get an internet connection into the annexe from any of the main providers. My landlords have provided a temporary yet unsuitable solution to my internet which lets me tap off theirs, it's sadly both very slow and unreliable with frequent dropouts.
They did have someone come in to find a better solution for us but the cost would have been in the multiple thousands, which they say they can’t do. So, being the tech enthusiast I am I went about finding a solution to the problem and presented it to them at a very reasonable cost, approximately £300. They seemed keen but I now feel they are ignoring my problem.
As it stands I have near unusable internet not on my own private network, they won’t shell out for a professional install and don’t seem keen to go down the DIY route. The current solution provided by them is borderline unusable and I cannot live in a property with no reliable internet service. Unfortunately 4G/5G internet isn’t a solution as signal here is poor at best, trust me I tried!
From what I gather internet is not classified as an essential service and therefore they don’t have to provide a solution legally (unlike elec or gas for example?). However would this be a reasonable reason for me to request an early termination of my letting agreement? How would the landlords out there expect a tenant to go forward with this sort of issue?
My landlords are lovely people, my flat is great and I really don’t want to move out. As a tenant I keep my head low, try not to make a fuss and treat the property with respect, so complaining about things isn’t really my way. As they’re literally my neighbours I’d like to keep relations healthy, however approaching 2 1/2 months with no good internet is testing my patience.
Any advice?
