Diamante poems 5th grade

Should I have negotiated my offer?

2024.05.21 16:27 PseudoRandom101 Should I have negotiated my offer?

Last month a person contacted me for tutoring his two children.I took the demo class of maths and science. The kids were vey weak in their foundations. I asked few questions which a 5th or 6th grader could easily answer but both these kids in 9th grade were blanking out. Like the kids who have heard of molecules but not of atoms. Considering how weak both children were and how far their home was from mine, I quoted them 1000/ bucks for an hour for a single child. ( please note that in market the charge varies from 700/ to 1500/). It means that if they hire me, it will cost them upto 48k per month.
As I expected, The parents refused to hire me. They were looking for someone who can teach both their kids under 20k per month and they have most likely found a tutor. One of my friends told me that I should have negotiated the price and could have quoted them 30k. By not doing that, I have missed a financial opportunity. Now this friend of mine has always called me impractical and it made me rethink the situation.
I have been tutoring for more than a decade now. When I take lectures, I speak continuously most of the time giving myself a sore throat and exhaustion. I spend a lot of extra time on students for which I don't charge a single penny. I have worked in IITs and has fair exposure in research. I am a dedicated tutor and I expect to be paid accordingly. The person who asked for a demo is a senior government official. His wife is also working and most likely run a small business. They live in a very posh area of delhi ( its an area dedicated to the housing for diplomats). The kids study in one of the top most chain of schools. These are the kind of people who go to the expensive holiday destinations, hang out in the ridiculously expensive cafes but when it comes to investing in knowledge and education, they wanna cut corners. I realized this and that's why I never called them back. I have taught kids for free but those who really needed financial help.
Am I seriously impractical in this scenario? If similar situation were to come in future, should I consider negotiating my price? What would you have done?

2024.05.21 16:25 GoodVillain101 Times when an actor/voice actor got recast, but were still involved in the media?

Arnold from Hey Arnold has gone through many voice actors. His first VA, Toran Caudell, was going through puberty and had trouble voicing Arnold, but the show kept him around by creating the 5th grade bully Wolfgang and had Toran voice him instead. The same also happened to his second VA, Philip van Dyke, and the show had him voice another 5th grader Ludwig, Wolfgang's rival, albeit a one-off character.

2024.05.21 15:48 PinkishNymph Sobrang nakakasira ng self-esteem ang beauty standard ng ilong dito sa Pilipinas

My (F 21) nose is one of my biggest insecurities about my physical appearance because I was bullied for it from 5th grade to 10th grade. I had classmates who told me that I would look pretty if my nose was smaller and pointy, like a lot of my facial features are already fine, but my nose ruined it for them. One of my friends in junior high school used to point out my nose a lot. My father told me that if he won the lottery and became a billionaire, he would get me a nose job.
I read horrible comments on chikaph about celebrities noses such as Belle Mariano's nose like sobrang hateful nila sa kanya just because they don't like her nose and it's not a typical nose that they want on other celebrities. Kahit pinagawa niya yung ilong niya hindi naman lahat ng rhinoplasty procedures ay sobrang laking pagbabago ang ibibigay at para tumangos lang. Meron kasing conservative rhinoplasty. It's a good thing that we have a female celeb like her as representative na ganyang itsura, hindi yung magkakamukha na lang lahat.

2024.05.21 12:31 Weird-One8451 Did I do something wrong?

My first best friend, who I'll call Melissa, and I met in kindergarten and were both 5 at the time. We both looked and smiled at each other. That was the day we became friends and it was the most happiest day of my childhood. I sat next to her and we were hanging out with each other every day.
We would do so many things at school with each other. We would sit on the carpet to play with the items the teacher put out for the class each morning. We would always do fun activities in the gym. We would sit at lunch, laugh about funny things we told each other, and hang out at recess every day. My favorite moment was when we were on the swings to see who would go the highest and just look at each other and smile. We did go to other parts of the playground but the swings was our favorite.
When we weren't in a classroom together with our teachers due to them having a different assigned classroom, we would still hang out in lunch and in recess because they released everyone at a certain time by grade level. For example, if we were in 1st grade and students were in a different classroom, the 1st graders would all be released at the same time while the other students in different grades remained in the same classroom. So even if Melissa and I were in different classrooms, we would always meet up and have a great time.
In 3rd grade, I found this girl who I'll call Leah. Leah and I would do pretty fun things together since we were in the same classroom and were hanging out with each other, but I'd still go and hang out with Melissa sometimes. I introduced Melissa to Leah and we basically became a friend group, or at least I thought it was a friend group.
During this time I was constantly having to pick sides with some of our things we were making up as kids. First, it was who I was to sit with at lunch. (Sometimes I wasn't lucky enough to sit with either of them because of a rule where we had to sit in a boy-girl pattern to apparently make everyone quieter during lunch time.) Then it was with some group or clan we made up during recess, Melissa was in "unicorn squad" and Leah was in "girl squad" (I made up the name of girl squad.) I would try to bring them both together but Melissa's friends and Leah's friends didn't get along too well. I had no other best friends besides the both of them and it kinda broke my heart to see them not get along as well as I was with them. Then on a very traumatic day in fourth grade that I still regret for the rest of my life, Melissa and Leah both came up to me and said "You have to pick one best friend." I said I wanted them both to be my best friends but Leah kept pushing that I only pick one. Then we made up a stupid contest to see who would win (my idea) and I was a little tired of it and made Leah win. I have never seen such a sad look on Melissa's face when we were about to leave for home. I ran after her and apologized, I tried to comfort her and I think it worked since we stopped the argument.
Later on in the year of 4th grade, Melissa and Leah had some new friends they were hanging out with. I was fine with it at first, but seeing as their friends were experiencing many joyful moments with my best friends without me, I grew hatred towards their friends. I became jealous of what they were doing. I tried everything as a 9 year old girl could possibly do to keep the relationship going between me and my best friends. I still sat with both of them at lunch and joined them in recess. When they were busy hanging out with their friends, I was left alone, wandering around the playground, doing the things my best friends and I used to do but alone this time. It became depressing just thinking about memories of me and my friends playing together in the past and having fun. Now I had to have fun but alone as I watch my best friends have fun with theirs instead of me. I became even more depressed and angry seeing other random friendships because they were having fun and not me. I felt so alone, hurt, betrayed, so much emotion. This grew into more extreme hate towards the friends of my best friends.
In 5th grade, I did everything I could to have fun with them, but for some reason, something felt off. We hung out less. We didn't sit at lunch every day. Then I found out something shocking. Leah was hanging out with other girls who would give her lunch money, (I gave her lunch money for quite a long time now so we would get snacks with my money I gave her) and was making videos with these girls. I then hated the girls because apparently in my mind, they were controlling and possessing my friend. They stole her away from me. Leah and I still hung out and I considered her my friend because I didn't understand the concept of being used for money. Leah would always invite me to make videos but I wasn't comfortable. I realized how much of a fake friend she was but I still gave her a chance to change but never happened. I went to hang out with Melissa more after this but this felt a bit off too. She was hanging out with this one girl a lot. She seems pretty happy to be with her instead of me more. Melissa was into anime and I wasn't, so that drifted us apart but I didn't see it. I wasn't really into any of my best friend's interests because I was still depressed and full of rage against these girls. I grew to hate everyone and everything and I only wanted to be with Melissa.
It was near the end of the year when I went to go with Melissa in the playground where we always used to go, the swings. She constantly kept moving away, switching swings of just walking away from me. This hurt a lot coming from a close friend like her. I went to hang out with Leah because I still had no friends besides the two of them. Leah as well, left me behind and I was there alone again. All this just fueled my anger against everything. I hated other people, I hated activities, I hated everything, including myself. I thought this was weird since I didn't express my hate that badly towards these other girls, although I did want them to through horrible and horrendous things because in my mind, they were stealing my friends. They took away the people who made me happy. I was getting worse from my mental health because I wanted nothing but my happiness and my best friends back. I had a few thoughts of kidnapping my best friends so they could be with me forever. I would be happy and experience all the happy moments we would share together again. It was pointless anyway because I was just a 10 year old and couldn't do anything.
During these final months before everyone was all homeschooled for a year, I noticed whenever I tried to be with Melissa, she moved away from me again. I tried many times to catch up with her but she continued moving away. I thought absolutely nothing of it because of a funny joke by the teachers saying we hung out too much and we should be separated. I found it funny because at the time, our friendship was strong and I thought nothing would ever separate us from having fun. So I just thought about it as if she was playing around with that joke. I gave up catching up after Melissa because I was tired and I thought she was playing the joke on me. It turns out, I overheard something she said and she said I was too clingy. I didn't know what it meant and I thought she said a funny word and thought nothing of it. Later on she asked me for a break. I said that it was fine and I thought she meant a break for one day (I thought breaks were meant to be short at the time) and we left each other alone.
It came a few days later where she said she didn't want to be my friend anymore. I then went to hang out with Leah, who I didn't hang out with for a long while, said she also didn't want to be friends with me anymore. I was broken by their words but I just thought it was all a joke to me, because I thought it was dumb to unfriend someone for hanging out with them every day.
Fast forward to 6th grade where we were homeschooled for a year, I was full of hope that I was going to be friends with Melissa again after a long time. Then came 7th grade where I was 12 and I continued to sit with her at lunch again, but this time I felt nothing. There were no fun conversations like we usually had back in elementary. I just felt like I wasn't meant to be there. I still felt the same loneliness, rage, and sadness back like I was in 5th grade. That's when I finally realized I was no longer her friend, and I had so much hate in myself for taking a year to realize I had been blind to all of this. I never felt so much sadness like that in my life. The two friends I had left me, I was really depressed by this reason, and now I constantly question myself wondering what I did wrong. I still grovel over them both. It's been a few years now. Did I do something wrong?

2024.05.21 12:18 Independent_Count874 My boyfriend is mad I can’t get over my fiancé

Hi! I (bi 20f) am dating a (straight 22m) person I met online 3 years ago. For context, in the whole time we’ve known each other, I have only met him in person once and it cost over 1K. When we met, I was grieving my late fiancé. I had met her (let’s call her R) when I was 10, and we both had a crush on each other. We started “dating” in 5th grade and never broke up. We were together for just short of 8 years and she had proposed to me when we were 16. Our wedding was planned for Aug 19th, 2023, the day we met. On Feb 1st 2022, she was it by a drunk driver and died in a hit and run. My now bf helped me grieve in health ways and called everyday to make sure I got out of bed to eat. A year ago, he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes. Well, R’s birthday was last week and I had a breakdown about it, and bf got upset. Saying things like “so I’m not enough to make you happy?” And “it’s already been 2 years, get over it”. I told him it’s not that easy and I lost someone I thought I was going to be with forever. This made him even more angry and he stormed off. He hasn’t returned my calls or texts since then and I don’t think I did anything wrong. Should I apologize or wait for him to come to me? I really like him but I’m not sure I LOVE him after this.
TLDR: fiancé of 8 years died and bf is mad at me for being upset on her birthday 2 years after she died.

2024.05.21 09:54 Formal-Argument7349 Have you ever had a teacher a kid u didn't realize was a weird ass person until u were older?

In my school, we had a Bible program. Yes. They taught religion in school and it was completely funded by "parents and charity." We had a teacher named Kevin Morrow. To me, even as a kid, he was weird. I never decided to be in Bible until HS. It was normal. Jesus this, Moses that. I dropped out, got a G.E.D. at 16, college at 17 and I'm now an engineer. I heard storied about him all those years ago. I was a sophomore when I left but heard he took someone's phone for using it in class. A guy age 15. Our policy was the parent had to come recover it. Mr. Morrow took it upon himself to go through his phone and text the boy's parents he had naked pics of his girlfriend on there. Now....before that. Years ago. I was in like 5th grade. Kevin Morrow has a pool at his house and said we were all invited to swim. So, some clasmates I knew went. He was laughing and told us all they didn't have trunks, so they went swimming in their underwear! So he was showing us all pictures of them in their underwear soaking wet.
He still works at the school. Any time we bring allegations or words against him, they don't listen.....

As a bow enthusiast, I've always been on the lookout for a reliable and accurate bow sight. When I came across the CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight, I knew I had to give it a try. This bow sight has made my shooting experience smoother and more enjoyable than ever before.
One of the features that really stood out to me is the frustration-free pin adjustments. It allowed me to adjust each pin individually, making the entire sighting process incredibly precise and efficient. The Dovetail Mounting System added an extra layer of stability, which was a great addition to ensure accuracy while shooting.
Another aspect I liked about the CBE Engage is its quad-track design. It prevented any rocking or rattling from happening whilst adjusting, ensuring a steadier and more secure experience. Plus, its Rapid Drive elevation adjustment system allowed me to make quick, high-precision adjustments with ease.

I recently got my hands on the Olympus EE-1 Red Dot Sight with Crosshair Reticle, and I must say, it has been a game-changer for my photography adventures. The EE-1 has made tracking fast-moving subjects much easier, especially during bird photography.
One of the standout features was the Center Aiming Dot. It was incredibly useful in capturing my subjects at the right angle, without losing sight of them. The EE-1 is designed to mount onto a camera's hot shoe, which ensures a snug and secure fit. Plus, its dustproof and splash-proof design has kept it safe from the elements during my outdoor shoots.
However, there were a few cons that I experienced while using this product. I've recently had the chance to try out the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope, a nifty piece of equipment for enthusiastic crossbow users like me. The scope's main highlight was its ability to find the range and calculate the correct trajectory for my crossbow bolts. In my experience, this feature proved to be quite handy in my local archery range, particularly for those days when the wind and temperature were unstable.
One of the things that stood out to me was the scope's robustness. It was designed to handle the harsh conditions of the outdoors, as evidenced by the sturdy aluminum body and the shock-resistant construction. This scope also offered a generous 4-inch eye relief, a feature that helped protect my eyes during those blustery hunting sessions.
The scope's lenses were fully-coated, making them highly resistant to glare, a common concern for crossbow users shooting in low-light conditions. Additionally, the durable leavespring for windage and elevation adjustments were a welcomed bonus, allowing me to finetune my shots with ease.
On the downside, one of the screws on the scope rings was stripped, a minor issue that wasn't a deal-breaker. I also discovered that the scope wasn't rated specifically for a particular crossbow speed. To achieve optimal accuracy, I had to adjust the scope manually, which was a bit tricky and time-consuming.
Regardless of these minor downsides, the TruGlo 4x32 Rangefinding/Trajectory Compensating Crossbow Scope proved to be an essential piece of equipment in my hunting arsenal. Its ease of use, durable construction, and helpful features make it an excellent choice for anyone seeking to upgrade their crossbow hunting experience.

I recently had the chance to give the Xs R3D 2.0 a try in my Desert Eagle Pistol, and I must say, it has been a game-changer for my shooting experience. In low-light environments, the sight really shines, thanks to the tritium front and rear glow dots that absorb ambient light. It's been a lifesaver during those late-night training sessions, and it certainly makes a difference when it comes to visibility.
One feature I especially appreciate is the wide notch rear with serrations and anti-reflective lens. It ensures that the sight never gets in the way during the shooting process, and it also blends in seamlessly with the gun's overall design. The corrosion-resistant black nitride surface finish is another plus, as it not only looks sleek but also adds durability to the product.
However, there are a couple of downsides to the Xs R3D 2.0. Firstly, the sight is a tad bulky compared to other models in the market. It might not be ideal for those who are looking for a more compact option. Secondly, the 3-dot tritium sight picture may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's a personal preference that might be worth considering.
Despite these minor drawbacks, the Xs R3D 2.0 has proven to be a reliable and high-quality sight for my pistol. Its performance in low-light conditions and the overall build quality have made it a valuable addition to my gun collection. So, if you're in the market for a top-of-the-line sight for your Desert Eagle Pistol, I'd highly recommend giving this one a try.

The Rapid Drive feature keeps it securely in place, ensuring accuracy during my shots.

🔗Xs R3D 2.0: Desert Eagle Night Sight for Clear Visibility in Low-Light

https://preview.redd.it/o23e146nrp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dad494d4c3a72e8d3ca9dc85a381b70a182a8cd4

The Telrad Reflex Sight is a must-have accessory for stargazers and telescope enthusiasts. As someone who has been using it for a while, I can confidently say that it's a game-changer when it comes to finding celestial objects in the sky. One of the standout features for me is its deep red concentric circles, which make it easy to locate targets even in the darkest of nights.
Another aspect I truly appreciated is the mounting base, which securely attaches the sight to telescopes of all sizes. The on/off switch and the continuously adjustable brightness control are also incredibly convenient, ensuring that the sight is always set to the perfect brightness for observation.
However, one drawback I encountered is that the Telrad Reflex Sight can be quite heavy, making it challenging to carry around on outdoor adventures. Also, the mounting base could be more versatile, as it only works with a specific type of telescope.
Despite these minor issues, the Telrad Reflex Sight is a powerful tool for anyone looking to enhance their telescope experience. Its compact design, user-friendly features, and reliability make it worth considering for any stargazing enthusiast.

🔗Axis Target Sight RH: High-Performance 22 Bore Sight with Modular Adjustments

In my experience using the CBE Axis Target Sight RH, the redesigned riser mount bar clamp feels like a sturdy upgrade, providing a solid and customizable foundation for my setup. The bar, crafted from high modulus machined carbon-fiber, offers a sleek yet reliable touch.
The elevation system on the Axis truly shines, as it effortlessly removes any unwanted play while maintaining smooth and rapid adjustments. The sight's mounting feels secure and its easy adjustments are much appreciated.
Additionally, the Windage Tube Clamp locating collar makes traveling with my scope much easier, as I can remove and reinstall it with no hassle. The interchangeable sight scales and multiple axis adjustments add a nice layer of customization to my experience.
However, the micro adjusters could benefit from a locking mechanism to prevent accidental tweaks. Also, having zero backlash would be a significant improvement, especially for precise adjustments.

When hunting, I've found the CBE Engage Hybrid Sight 1 Pin. 010 LH to be a reliable and efficient tool. The dovetail mounting system and Quick Track design utilizing delrin tracks make it user-friendly and easy to set up. The Rapid Drive feature keeps it securely in place, ensuring accuracy during my shots.
The 2nd and 3rd axis adjustment has made it easy for me to refine my aim, leading to a higher success rate. However, one downside has been the weight at 1 lb, which can become a little cumbersome during long periods of hunting.
Overall, the CBE Engage Hybrid Sight has been a trusty companion on my hunting adventures.

🔗CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight: Precision Adjustments for Optimal Performance

One of the standout features is the hybrid elevation adjustment, which allows for fine-tuned adjustments with just a single turn of the knob.
The ergonomic design of the knob makes it easy to manipulate, even in the heat of the moment. Additionally, the quad track system eliminates any unwanted wobbling or rattling, providing a solid foundation. The rapid drive elevation adjustment system is truly rapid, offering high-precision adjustments in a matter of seconds.
However, one potential downside is the relatively short length of 10 inches. While this may be ideal for some, it could limit the versatility for others. Despite this, the CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight proves to be a top-performing choice for many archers searching for a reliable and efficient sight for their bow.

🔗CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight: Fast, Accurate, and Convenient Adjustments

I've been using the CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight for a while now, and it has become a game-changer in my archery practice. One feature that stands out is its rapid drive adjustment system, making it easy to tweak the sight with just one turn.
The ergonomic knob also ensures that adjusting the sight is effortless and comfortable. On the downside, I've noticed that it's a bit heavy, weighing in at 1.08 lb, which can be a drawback for those with sensitive wrists. Overall, the CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight has proven to be reliable and intuitive, making my shooting experience more enjoyable and precise.

The CBE Engage Hybrid Bow Sight has been a game changer in my archery pursuits. I particularly appreciate its frustration-free pin adjustments, allowing me to make precise adjustments with ease. The Armed Guard Fiber Management System and the increased fiber length for brighter pins have made a noticeable difference.
However, there's still room for improvement in the ergonomics of the knob and the initial set up. Overall, it has vastly improved my experience on the range.

2024.05.21 06:54 Cheese4569 I need help keeping my friend group together about to go into high school

I’m an 8th grader, well only for about 2 more days but soon me and my circle of about 7 friends are going to high school. I see everyone talking about how their middle school friendships ended when they started high school but during lunch the 8 of us made a pact to make sure that doesn’t happen, which really only happened cuz I begged for it to happen. I’m really the only one of us to care about this because the other guys have strong confidence that we’ll do just fine. And I do have a little de ja vu from 5th grade stressing about the same thing happening in middle school and we did fine, even happening to gain more friends too. I just don’t want us to drift apart and become just extra faces in the halls, some of our friendships go back all the way to kindergarten/1st grade. Give me advice how to make sure this doesn’t happen.

2024.05.21 06:02 Accomplished-Cat-325 Ex-Kumon student. I went to Kumon from kindergarten to fourth grade.

Recently, I have seen lots of people complaining about how kumon is torture.
The reason my parents sent me to Kumon was because my parents sent me to a Waldorf school for KG and they didn't have much academics, so my parents had to send me to Kumon.
Until I went to a different school for 5th grade that had a more accelerated math program, Kumon was my math education, except for geometry.
From school, in first grade, I learned that quadrilaterals have four sides.
In third grade, I learned that angles of more than 90 degrees are obtuse, angles of 90 degrees are right, and angles less than 90 degrees are acute. I also learned that equilateral triangles have three equal sides/angles, isocoles triangles have two equal sides/angles, and scalene triangles have no equal sides/angles.
Other than that, Kumon is how I learned math.
I especially hated carries and borrows (when doing Kumon).
At one point, I didn't want to do Kumon to the point where I fed it to the metal sculptures of the dogs in my house.

2024.05.21 06:00 Smooth-Noise-9496 If my brother abused my 5 year old sister when he was 9-10 years old would he be considered a pedophile?

This happened when I was in third grade. I was sleeping in the same room and my sister. One time I noticed that my brother woke her up at night and took her somewhere else. I thought they were playing but I didn’t think that it was good because she needed to be sleeping. So I made her go to sleep at the same time as me and I locked the door. I remember that my brother tried to open the door but when he realized it was locked he retreated. I was happy about that. Then the next day i heard him say to her that they were not going to go to sleep.
I thought it was weird that he was so insistent on keeping her awake. So one day I asked her what they were doing. She said that they were watching something on the tv. I told her describe to me what they were watching. She said that it was some models in a line but they didn’t have bras on. I tried to get her to flip through the channel but she did not remember the channel number.
I was concerned I asked her if they were naked. She said yes. I asked her if our other siblings played this game with them. She said no. I told her I was going to tell mom but then I stopped and asked her if she wanted me to tell mom. She said. I don’t know. That made me confused. I didn’t understand why she wasn’t more worried.
Anyways. I did try to tell my mom and dad on multiple occasions. I remember when I was in 5th grade. Meaning my brother was in 6th grade. That I tried to play coy and I asked my dad if it was okay if a brother and a sister have sex. He said. “Of course not.” So I said “that is what they went to go do just now.” Because they had excused themselves from the table. He then asked my sister. If her brother was doing anything bad to her. She said no. After that I was so confused and I never said anything ever again.
I don’t know when it stopped or if it ever did. It was likely going on for years. I tried to tell my parents all the way from late in 3rd grade and before middle school.
My dad tried to get the bottom of it more than my mom but that was a dumb question. “Anything bad?” That could of meant anything to her.
My sister was 5-7 I was 9-11 My brother was 10-12.
Maybe even more. I really don’t know. My other sister remembers that one time he tried to bribe her with some chips for her to kiss him on the lips. That’s not normal in our family. So she feels like he was trying to target her too. She is only one year younger than me.
I tried so hard to get my parents permission. My mom would just ask me how I knew what sex was. She was surprised that I knew that at 9? At 9 I remember she told me about periods so I think knowing the basic of sex was pretty good. I just knew that they put their private parts together. And I knew that that was wrong.

2024.05.21 06:00 mylifepeppa Is This a Good Plan For Asking Him Out?

I (14F) am in 8th grade and want to ask out a guy in my grade. I've known him since fifth grade, and we were actually friends in fifth grade. I've fallen in love with him. I'm also moving away to a different school next year because of my parents jobs. I'm gonna ask him out on the last day of school in June. We have one short class together every other day. Thank god we have this class on the last day of school! Here's my plan to ask him out: Ask him if he'll sign my yearbook (I bet he'll say yes cuz we're friendly-ish with each other), then I'll ask him if I can sign his yearbook. After signing it, I will put my love poem I've written for him, in between his yearbook sticking out. It has a yes and no box to check. We'll see how it goes. Is this a good plan? Y'all tell me if you want me to type out the poem, too.

2024.05.21 05:39 Illustrious_Hour_766 I Feel Like I Am Being Treated Unfairly At My School - I Need Advice For Next Steps

Sorry, this is going to be a pretty long read...

Earlier this year, I applied to become a LINK Leader (senior students at a high school that help new ninth graders transition from middle school to high school; you can read more about them at https://www.boomerangproject.com/link/what-is) at my school and I feel as if I was unfairly rejected because of my race and being unable to do something for my vice-principle. A little background info, I'm Asian and currently in grade 10, which means I will be in grade 11 next year if I were to become a LINK leader. I live in a smaller city and the majority of my school is white, including all teachers. I would say I am a high-achieving student as my current high-school average is 96.8%, which is the highest in my grade. I do competitive dance, competitive swimming, piano, and violin as my extracurriculars. I also volunteer at my local hospital and have over 200 hours there and I also play for a community church every Sunday to accompany the choir there. At the beginning of the year (maybe mid-February), I was asked to play the piano for a musical that was run by the vice-principle and an art teacher happening at our school in May. I was told that it would be happening sometime in May, but not the exact dates, so I told the vice-principle I could play if it wasn't from May 1st-May 5th because I had a dance competition that weekend and would be out of town. At the beginning of April, I was informed that the musical was happening from May 1st-May 4th. I emailed my vice-principle saying that I could not play that weekend anymore since I would be out of town. I was ignored and ghosted, as she never responded to my email. This is one of the contributing factors that I think led to be being rejected as a LINK leader, as she was very close with all staff (including the art teacher). From what I heard, the musical went well. Last week, results for the LINK crew were released and I was shocked (as well as many of my other classmates) to find I was not accepted. There was a 60% acceptance rate this year and I was not accepted. I know this may seem like I am thinking too highly of myself, but being selected for the LINK crew is grade-based and experience-based, which I believe I have since I am the highest-placed grader and have decent leadership skills. I was extremely upset about this, as some of the "sports" guys got in with horrible grades and not much experience, which I believe was partially due to favouritism. One of my friends, with an average of 80%, got into the team, which I am extremely happy for her and everyone else who in, but I just don't think it's fair. I think that combined with the fact that I didn't play in the musical at my school and being Asian, led the teachers at my school to wrongfully reject me from the LINK crew. Can someone please tell me what I should do next (like maybe email the school about the reasoning for my rejection or just leave this matter alone)? I am just very upset and maybe I seem unreasonable, but I really think that it isn't fair and feel wrongly rejected. It is a bit hard explaining this over the internet, since I don't want to reveal too much information, but if you have any questions, please ask.

Thank you in advance for all your help. Sorry I know this is a long read.

2024.05.21 05:04 RoyalxPain94 Surgery on Wednesday 5/22!

Sorry in advance for the long post. The range of emotions that I feel right now is INSANE. I’m 29 and I’ve had bigger boobs since 5th grade. I’m currently a 40H(US) and I’ve wanted this surgery for YEARS. I’ve been denied by insurance 3 times and now here I am two days away from surgery. It’s surreal. I’m honestly so excited after reading so many success stories, but reading those few not so great stories have me filled with anxiety. I ofc know that everyone handles pain / heals differently and everyone’s recovery process is unique, but 😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨
I’ve never had a major surgery and I’m worried about the pain mostly. I’m the person who took years to get a single nose piercing bc “it’s gonna hurt” 🙃 My pain tolerance is preeetty LOW. Also, I’m worried about the scarring as a black woman. I know, it’s only cosmetic and it’s not a major concern since I’ll feel SO much relief from this surgery, but it’s still a nagging thought. I’m trying to get out of my head, but man is it hard.
Thank you everyone for sharing your stories and experiences bc it’s been so helpful and eye-opening. Please wish me luck for a successful surgery! 🙏🏾🩵

2024.05.21 04:37 Routine-Surprise-657 trying to find a game i played back in grade/middle school

i'm really new to reddit so i don't know how to post to subreddits without getting my posts taken down;; but there was this piano game that my teacher made us play in music class when i was in like 5th, maybe 6th grade. it was played on the computer, and he wrote a site that we went into that put us into the game, so it was online, and i don't think it required any downloading. it had a bunch of songs, and the functions used both the right and left hands and the middle section of a laptop keyboard for keys (asdf and jkl;). depending on how many you missed you got a different score and the highest i could ever get was an a, but i was thinking about it and realized i don't know where i can find it again to revisit. i remember distinctly that the url had nothing to do with pianos, like it might have been something to do with a penguin? i'm really not sure but it was distinct enough for me to remember that the url didn't really relate to what it had to do with piano tiles. i'm really sorry if this isn't like the convenient way of posting this is my first post and i'm just really trying to find this game! i don't even know if anyone will find this post. but thank you in advance if you find this post and decide to help!!

2024.05.21 03:38 LeiferMadness4 Constantly being forced to move grade levels as a new teacher: am I being targeted?

Hey guys,
I really need your advice on a situation. For background information, I'm an elementary teacher with a middle school english endorsement and a masters degree. I started teaching three years ago. After a year I switched counties. When I was being interviewed for the job I really got along with the principal. She gave me the 4th grade position I was hoping for. I felt like I would be a good fit at the school so I took the job. During the summer the prinicpal moved and a new princical took over.
Anyways I taught 4th grade and I got good evaluations, not great but good. I was never put on an improvement plan or anything like that and was told I was mostly effective with a few small things to work on. Cool, that's what I expect as a new teacher. I was told at the end of last year I would be moving to third grade. When I asked why they told me I "had a year of experience there" and they needed 2 3rd grade teachers because others were leaving. Sure, that makes sense to me. They also moved another one of the 4th grade teachers to 3rd.
This year I had GREAT evaluations , being marked effective in 7/8 categories. At my mid year my principal even told me I had grown a lot and was an excellent educator. She then asked me if I wanted to stay in third grade. I told her I really did like third grade and was fine being there, but I also really like 4th and 5th grade and would be okay being moved there if that is what the school needed.
Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. At my summative my principal told me she was moving me to 1st grade. She said my test scores just weren't high enough. I reminded her that half my class was flagged for reading remediation and I was the only class that received no support, and that my test scores were very similar to the other 3rd grade class, just slightly lower. She told me I am "better suited" for 1st grade. In 4th grade my test scores were the highest in the grade level.
I have no experience with 1st grade. I am once again having to start over. I am beyond frustrated.
Furthermore, there is a teacher in my current team who specially asked if she could be moved to 1st. She has also moved 4 other teacher to postions they did not want, and 2 of them have quit due to this.
If she really didn't like me, she would have fired me like she did the other 2 new teachers this year. I personally think she is trying to drive me out.
One more relevant thing, I did put in a transfer request in January for a school closer to my house, but there were no positions open. My principal knows this because I let her know, as is district policy.
My coworkers and I are so frustrated. Our opinions are blatantly being ignored. I know I'm an adequate educator. She said so herself.
Right now I am interviewing for middle school positions in my county. It's not my first choice, I really do love teaching elementary school, but I cannot keep being moved.
Please let me know any advice or suggestions that you have for me.

2024.05.21 03:02 ProperMeat7165 Is my brother normal? If not, what can I do to help him?

I mean, he's 10. I don't really remember when I was 10, but I want to know if he's a normal human kid:
For starters, he's obnoxious, annoying, and tries to be a annoying person to me[14], and my older brother[17]. However, he is kindhearted, so that's that, ig. He watches (Cringe and Inappropriate) youtube shorts, which is expected. He has a strong liking for gaming mouses, anime, anything related to Japan. He also plays Minecraft and Roblox
Here's the worrying part:
His handwriting is barely readable. He's in 5th grade.
Infact, his schoolwork is what I worry about the most of.
He uses ChatGPT primarily for answers, and doesn't know how to use search engines. His schoolwork is comparable to a second grader's work. While this could be a phase, I worry about him as he has no limits on his devices. My older brother has managed to limit his Minecraft usage, but for some reason, my parents can't use screen time on his computer. Speaking of his computer, that thing's a fluffing biohazard. It's covered with food stains, grease, to the point that a blind person would confuse the keys for braille. For most meals(Dinner), he requires a parent to feed him. He also can't go a meal without a electronic device in his face. I fear for him, and his future, and would like to know about his normalcy, and steps I could take as a 14 year old to help him stay on the right track.
For the people born at the same time as my little brother:
Heavy suspicions I have of him:
Closing statement: I need advice on how to set my brother on the right track.

2024.05.21 02:45 Scead24 NoFap Count Timer starts... now.

Hi everybody,
I am making this post to never fap to porn ever again. I'm in my thirties and putting down the foot on this destructive habit, permanently. I'll create a remindme comment to see where my progression is 4 years from now. 1/1/2028. You all witnessed the moment of change starting today.
  1. There are 7 billion humans on this planet, why waste your time chasing/obsessing over digital pixels of women that you will never ever meet once in your lifetime.
  2. When you feel the temptation to watch porn, go outside instead. Do something. If it's in the middle of the night, go sit outside in the cold and ask yourself why this is even necessary in the first place.
  3. Don't waste your time with women that don't chase you, ever. One text, no reply, drop her like a hot potato and move on. Focus on the ones that are responsive. This may require a lifestyle change but YOU GOT THIS, I GOT THIS TOO.
  4. Be physically active. Gym. Biking. Swimming. Hiking. Backpacking overseas. Keep your body moving every other day at the very minimum.
  5. Keep yourself buried in different interests and hobbies. Don't make sitting in front of your computer your entire hobby. That just makes it easier to fall into temptation and a weaker willpower to resist. Stay varied.
  6. We didn't have the internet nor porn content for millions of years, we just knew to go out and meet attractive mates then fuck them. You don't need the internet for that. Quit this very moment and make the allure of meeting/connecting with women in person a meaningful part of your life.
  7. Reread number 3.
  8. Remind yourself that you are NOT ALONE in this. I struggled ever since that fucking summer before 5th grade where I had someone older tell me about online Playboy. I have a high sex drive, before I knew it porn invaded my whole psyche before I was mentally and emotionally able to handle it. I had nobody to help me fight this, I was entirely alone. It really falls on me to gather my mental strength and conviction to quit. I will succeed.
  9. Tell that inner voice telling you that you'll fail or some other bs excuse to shut the fuck up. Just shut the fuck up. You're the general of your own body and mind. What good is your body if you cannot discipline it to serve and protect you? Manifest the psyche that you know really belongs to you.
  10. Life is telling me to write the above for myself and for you to read too. Think of this as life's way of saying "Hey, listen, this is life talking to you right now, just do it and never look back. Now is your best opportunity to." Are you going to take it? Because I sure as hell will.
Take care and I wish you much success ahead in your life because you and I deserve so, so much more than this sorry state of affairs. Get it done. Succeed.
