2024.05.21 13:35 taubenhau My 11 year old sister pees herself when gaming, that's not normal right?

Age: Now 14, when complaint appeared 11 Gender: Female Weight: Normal Height: Normal Race: white Location: Europe (with free healthcare)
Past & current medical history: History of bedwetting until 12 years old, frequent nosebleeds, frequent stomachaches due to being scared of school
Family medical history: Brother (me) diagnosed with ADHD, family history of mental illness
I am asking this for my lil sis because my mom seems to think it's totally normal and wants to sweep it under the rug.
Quick backstory: I had very bad mental health problems as a kid, struggled a lot with feeling different and not doing well in a school environment, even went inpatient once. Multiple psychiatrists talked to my mom and afterwards diagnosed me with depression. When I was 18, my mom finally opened up to me and said that more than 5!! of my teachers talked to her about a suspected ADHD diagnosis, which she apparently purposefully did not mention to psychiatrists as I 'cannot have ADHD because [my] grades are too good'. Went to see a new psychiatrist, did testing, got an ADHD diagnosis. Now I'm doing way better in life, no more suicide attempts, even on my way to graduating university. So this history might bias me, of course. My mom says I am projecting my feelings onto my sister, which is very much possible.
So, onto the complaint:
My sister used to struggle a lot with frequent bedwetting, up until she was 12 years old. I had the same thing when I was a kid due to anxiety, so they thought it was the same for her. She also gets stomachaches sometimes because shes so scared of school and does not want to go. Her grades are very bad, and she struggles a lot with doing her homework and paying attention. She also does not have any friends.
During Covid, I used to help her with online school and realized that she would sometimes completely forget about classes happening, would daydream during the entire class, and when doing her homework would sometimes forget what she was writing in the middle of the sentence and finish it with a completely different sentence. Her homework often came back as 'unintelligible', 'unreadable', 'lots of careless mistakes'.
When I started being more strict with her, aka tracking all her homework, waking her up in the morning, taking away her phone during class and reminding her to pay attention every 30 minutes, she got drastically better grades in the span of two months. Sadly, due to Covid ending I had to return to my college city and her grades started slipping again.
All these things to me point to an ADHD diagnosis or at least something going on, especially due to my diagnosis. But the most worrying thing to me was:
Up until she was around 11 or 12 years old, she would sometimes be so focused on playing video games that she would pee her pants a little because she didnt realise she needed to go. If you would tell her to go pee, she would get upset/annoyed and tell you 'just 5 more minutes' over and over again, until it was too late. She's also really bad with hygiene, when she's visiting I have to remind her to brush her teeth daily, to shower and to wash her hair, otherwise she just won't do it. She's honestly sometimes really stinky and her hair is always a mess.
My mom said that's a normal things kids do, but I annoyed her so much about it that she took my sister to one therapist who talked to my sister 3 times and then said she does not have adhd and that shes healthy.
So now my mom is really angry with me every time I say that I am concerned, because this one therapist said shes a normal kid so if I'm doubting that it means I think I know better than the professionals.
I honestly have no fucking clue, maybe this is a normal developmental stage? My mom says all of us were stinky and icky as teenagers and she will grow out of it, but I think its hurting my sister, because she does not have friends and I think every kid needs friends right?
So I am just asking here because I honestly don't know if I'm actually just projecting and should listen to the professionals and if I dont that makes me a bad brother somehow. I am not trying to imply shes a bad kid, I love her a lot, I want to make that super clear. I promise I'm just worried for her.
It would mean the world to me if you could reply, no matter if it is to dissuade my worries or by confirming to me that that's actually something to worry about.

2024.05.21 13:16 HRJafael Coast Guard partnering with local organizations for watercraft inspections for Safe Boating Week

https://archive.is/6pWeU
As people load up their kayaks, canoes and boats ahead of Memorial Day weekend, local recreation company Adventure East and the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary are advising folks to keep safety in mind during National Safe Boating Week.
In 2022, the U.S. Coast Guard reported 4,040 accidents and 636 deaths resulting from recreational boating activities. Boaters of all types — especially paddlers in kayaks and canoes, as well as those on paddle boards — are urged to get their equipment inspected, properly prepare for boating and follow safety tips to ensure everyone has a fun and, most importantly, safe experience. National Safe Boating Week is observed the week before Memorial Day each year, as the holiday typically marks the arrival of warmer weather, which ushers in the recreational boating season. This year it is being observed from May 18 through May 24.
“Kayakers, paddlecraft as we call them, don’t think they’re boaters,” said William Bell, a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary for 43 years. “Things happen quick in small boats, that’s why in a kayak it’s more important [to be prepared]. … Good swimmers think they can put a life jacket on in the water, it’s difficult.”
To mark the occasion in the Pioneer Valley, where paddlecraft make up the vast majority of boaters in the region’s rivers, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is partnering with Sunderland-based outdoor recreation company Adventure East to inspect the business’ fleet of boats and then with the Sunderland Public Library to offer inspections of the public’s vessels.
On Friday, May 24, from 3 to 6 p.m., folks are invited to bring their kayaks, canoes and other boats to the parking lot behind the Sunderland Public Library at 20 School St., where Coast Guard Auxiliary members like Bell and Tom Fydenkevez, who also previously served decades on the Selectboard, will inspect the vessels free of charge. Adventure East will also be on hand to share details about their boating safety procedures, additional paddlecraft safety tips and great locations for people to bring their boats.
If your boat is in compliance, you will receive a vessel safety check decal for your boat to indicate you are in full compliance with federal and state boating laws. If deficiencies are found, a written report will be put together.
Safety tips
While it may be obvious, a key point for all boaters and passengers is the importance of wearing a life jacket or other form of personal flotation device, as Fydenkevez noted 75% of all fatal boat accidents involve drowning. In 85% of those drownings, the person who died was not wearing a life jacket. Three in four drownings also involved vessels less than 21 feet in length, according to the Coast Guard. He added that life jackets should fit properly and high-visibility ones are more effective.
“You know, the black and the blue [life jackets] look really good, but if you’re out there, it’s nice to have a red one or brightly colored one. … Coloration is really important,” Fydenkevez said.
As for additional items and equipment, all boaters should have a personal ID on them and it is recommended to have some sort of identification on the vessel. This identification should have a phone number on it, so if a boater is safe, but separated from their boat, first responders aren’t sent on an unnecessary search.
Paddlecraft boaters are advised to have an additional paddle or oar, a flashlight, a first aid kit, a registered beacon that can be attached to a boat to track their location, and food and water. Boaters are advised to leave alcohol on the shore, as its use is listed as the “leading-known contributing factor in fatal boating accidents,” according to the Coast Guard.
“People think they’re on the water, ‘What could happen to me?’” Fydenkevez said of many people’s mindsets when getting in or on a boat. Beyond equipment, and much like going for a hike, the public is advised to have a “float plan,” where you inform a family member, friend or other responsible party of your plans, which includes where you’re going and the expected time you’ll return. That way, authorities can be notified if you do not come back.
Other tips include dressing for the water, not the weather, because even if the weather is going to be above 90 degrees, water temperatures can still be dangerously low. This time of year in particular, the water temperatures are still in the low 60s, “so you don’t have an unlimited amount of time,” Fydenkevez said. The National Weather Service notes “cold shock can be just as severe and dangerous” from 60-degree water as it is with 32-degree water.
As members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and Adventure East prepare to inspect boats on Friday, Adventure East founder Brian Pearson said his business has gotten their life jackets inspected and they get all 45 kayaks, 15 canoes and two giant canoes inspected by the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
“A lot of people kind of start their pathway into paddling with Adventure East, so we have a lot of people who may have fear or anxiety about starting a new thing that has more risk. … The Coast Guard says we know what we’re doing, which is a huge thing,” Pearson said. “It’s great to have that partnership and their interest in helping and supporting us.”

2024.05.21 13:15 RaspberryMojito1 My parents are killing my marriage.

Hello guys, I have a 6 month baby and a very loving and caring husband I love very much. After I got pregnant my husband and I had to move to my parents house so we can save some money and move to Japan where he is originally from, he is a tourist in my country and is staying here on visa which is running out very soon so we decided to move to his home for time time being. I am going to start a business there, we saved up enough money for that and we are overall excited to start our new life there with our baby but my parents are broken about this which is expected. Ever since our baby was born my mother basically just toke him from us nonstop and take control of everything. He was not allowed to make any decisions about what goes on with his diet or just anything really he has been completely shut out by my mother. I am also completely shut out as well, I cannot make decisions as a mother or she will lecture me about my methods and call me abusive or that I am neglecting him. I wanted to wait til 6 months to start him on solid food and she has been feeding him anything she wants to since he was 4 months which I found out much much later and begged her to not do which then she promised not to then continued to do so behind our backs. In any social gathering like visiting friends and family she does not let me have our baby back she sprints to take him immediately and people have been asking her about anything related to him even though I am directly beside her.. I feel like I am not his mother 80% of the time. So we decided to move out much much earlier than we planned to do, it will negatively affect our future. So after I told my mother that we are leaving next month instead of October she went insane and is now trying to turn me against my husband in an attempt to keep us here. She has been attacking my husband's parents who they have never met and telling me that once I get to Japan they will take everything from me including our baby and kick me out on the streets and my husband will make me work while he does nothing. My husband cannot work here because he cannot get a work permit and he wants to rush to Japan so he can finally get to make money for us as well. He was working while he had his permit and has been tolerating my mother for almost a year. He is a very good man, and I am very grateful to have him. Recently my mother has been taking all of this out on our baby. She has been taking him from us but not taking care of his basic needs such as changing his diaper or feeding him. I do not expect my mother to do all that but is she takes him from us herself at least take care of his needs. Today my dad went all out on me and told me that his parents will make me ''suck them off'' and I will come back to them crying that they legally toke my baby from me. I still have one month to deal with this. My husband's parents have been nothing but kind to me his mother sent me lots of pretty clothes and they are trying to come here to visit them and have a family meetup they cannot wait to finally meet us and see their grandbaby for the first time.
Oh and I tried to say no to her once. I was holding my baby and he was crying because he was sleepy my mother sprinted in our room and demanded that I give him to her and I said no, long story short she called me a dicksucking bitch and with brute force tore him out of my hands and slapped me. He was crying to much he couldn't breathe. And toke him from me, so since then I gave up and just let her take him.
when she has him she toke good care of him just disregarding my existence and my husband's. But now that we are leaving she is completely neglecting him and I have been following her around nonstop to make sure his needs are being met.
He is a very happy baby nonstop smiling and laughing he has no idea what is happening which is great but my husband and I are in complete pieces.
I really need some advice on how to deal with this for another month and also on how I should handle them. Moving out is not an option because where I live rent is truly unaffordable and we would not have enough to move. Business funds and spending funds are separate and cannot be touched for many reasons.

2024.05.21 12:42 douevenwheelanddeal If you had the choice to buy a duplex in Greenacre or a townhouse in Peakhurst, which would you go for?

I am so torn at the moment and was hoping to hear reddit's thoughts on this. I know location is priority in most cases.. but the duplex is 2x the size of the townhouse, and doesn't have strata. They're both the same price. What would you choose? We're a family of three and work close to the city.

2024.05.21 12:31 JeepAsleep Help With My Betta Fish, Zane - Identify and Address Issue (long post)

TLDR -------------------------------------
The problem: My fish, Zane, has been extremly lethargic for about a while. A white spot has developed on his side in the last few days. And he is no longer swimming up for food.
What I think it could be: stress (moving, bioload, bad tank location in the house, etc), old age, or sick - maybe swim bladder disease.
What I'd like to get from this post: help identifying the problem and help addressing/fixing it.
Images linked here
Full Story --------------------------------
The time line: - Student teaching Jan 17 - May 1 - Return to fish Mar 15 / April 25-28 / May 6-11 - Friend watches fish Mar 25-28 / April 28 - May 5 / - Fish Moved April 28 / in travel cup until April 30 / in small tank until May 13 / new tank set up May 13 / new filter pump and cartridge May 14 - I start worrying about lethargy April 28 - Different friend watches fish May 10-12 - says he swam up to get food once or twice - partner cares for fish May 14-17
The situation: I was student teaching this spring (Jan 17 - May 1) and so my partner was taking care of Zane in our old apartment while I moved in with family. I have been back at different times during the semester (March 15 / April 26 / May 6-11 ) and my partner has come to visit me too (March 25-28 / April 28 - May 5) and during those times a neighbor has watched him. Any time we have a trusted friend watched him, they will fed him 3 blood worms daily because it is easy to measure. Our friends all have animals and follow the exact instructions we leave.
I have had Zane since February 25, 2021. As he has gotten older, he has slowed down and taken longer to respond, but he still had a lot of energy and swam up to greet you or get food in the morning. But lately he has gotten really lethargic and appears sick.
I don't know the parameters or if there was a strict cleaning schedule while I was student teaching outside of topping the water up every 2 weeks. But, now that things have calmed down we will be returning to a set schedule.
Recently we got a different apartment near where I was student teaching and my partner moved in with me. During the transition of moving, the semester ending, and graduation there were periods where my partner cared for Zane, I cared for him, or a friend cared for him. Zane moved into the new apartment with us on April 28.
He was in a travel bowl for 2 days (it's bigger than the petstore cups, but idk how big it actually is), then he was in a 2 gallon cube for another 10 days days before we got his 5 gallon tank back and set up. During moving we packed as much water as we could into takeaway soup containers because I thought it would be best to bring his old water that already had the bacteria and stuff. When we got back I took everything out of the tank (I wanted to search the gravel for snails) and then added the fluvel substrate and some of the old fishtank gravel on top. I dumped the water filled with all the gravel debris before adding the new substrate. I put all the decorations back then added the old water we saved and the new water from his 2 gal temporary tank together. I doubt the temporary tank was cycled, but he is usually fine staying in that tank when I travel. It's always filtered water, heated, conditioned and left to sit out for a day before adding him. During this process, I had him in a sealed plastic bowl Tupperware with holes in the top and then let him acclimate to the new water by setting the bowl in the tank. I was concerned about the old filter because it looked very gross, so I replaced the entire unit.
Since moving Zane has been really lethargic and spends all his time laying in the bottom of the tank. He used to have a lot of energy, swim around, rest on the plants, or rest on the heater, hunt shrimp, and I suspect he also tried to hit the snail once he realized it was in his tank.
Now, I know he is moving because when we check on him, several times a day, he's in a different spot than he was the previous time. But, in uploading photos, I noticed all of the photos I have are from the same corner of the tank, so maybe he isn't moving as much as he was earlier.
He also moves quickly if we gently brush against him or beside him. But, he is no longer swimming up for food or acting like he used to. He does look at us when we come near him. His eyes look like they're following us. He is breathing because his gills are moving, but it seems labored. I think he is stressed with the move, but his color is fine. He used to sleep or rest a lot too but his fins were always moving when he did and now they don't seem to be.
He has been in the new set up for about a week or two now and a few days ago (maybe May 17/18) I noticed a white spot on his side. It's only one, so I don't think it's itch. There is some white fuzzy something on the driftwood, but according to google it's just bacterial growth and should be fine. I've reduced the food I give him because it doesn't seem like he's eating in all. I used to feed him a small pinch of bug bites or 3 bloodworms because he seemed to have more energy with that pattern than without.
Appearance wise, his color is fine, it doesn't look like itch, it doesn't look like popeye, and his scales aren't pineconing. It could be swim bladder disease?
Thank you for your help.

2024.05.21 12:29 SRASC Apple Maps: POI vs Personal Routing

Just curious if anyone or I suspect anywhere else has this issue with Apple Maps.
If I try to route to a POI, like a business, in most cases it does them fine. In cases it doesn’t it’s because the POI is closer to a back road than the road the main entrance is on. Usually a report fixes that. Usually…
The main issue for me though is routing to a personal location, like a friend or family’s house. In basically every case it would at least get me to the street but not the part of the street the place is on. Sometimes this means I come up too short on the street and others I come up too far.
Other times it may incorrectly route you to a similarly named street that’s a good distance off from where I intend to go.
If I place the pin just before routing to it, that works fine as well but of course having to do so every time is inconvenient.
I think the issue is in part because there isn’t a proper address structure in place for my country yet. Though it doesn’t explain how it works perfectly fine for businesses but not personal pinned addresses.
I have reported this a couple of times. Nothing of it to this point.

2024.05.21 12:28 spiirel “Men are useless” mentality caused issues at my wedding

For months leading up to our wedding my mom made comments like “we’ll send the men to the bar during wedding prep so they’ll be out of the women’s hair” and “I hope the venue bar opens early so the guys can drink during the setup hour”. I told her each time that my husband (and other male family and friends) would not be excused to go drink while women were made to do all the work.
Cut to this weekend - my mom immediately asks where my useless male in-laws are going during the wedding prep… while being introduced to them. A few jaws were on the floor and I said “every man with two hands is required to help. There’s a lot to get done and the venue only allows an hour to set up decorations.” This almost became a meme with a couple of the guys scrubbing glass frames as loudly as possible, offering to clean our apartment, and when there was (truly) nothing left to do they were taking coffee orders and running to get them. I seriously don’t know what I would’ve done without my husband’s help either, I can’t imagine sending him away.
On the other hand, my boomer parents either showed up an hour late or extremely early to everything and then complained about how nothing was starting on time. Including my dad taking the only vehicle to go have long-winded boomer-style conversations with the employees at an audio store which held up the next event by an hour.
I had a document with all the timing, decor tutorials, and checklists that went completely ignored. They continued to brag about how useless the men in my family were - but my brother was single-handedly solving last minute issues. My parents have always been a self-fulfilling prophecy of thinking the lowest of all of our abilities. Then my mom gets frustrated when my brother and dad meet her expectations.
As a bonus boomerism - my mom kept sneaking decor, “family traditions”, and other things into the wedding without asking throughout the weekend. I told her point-blank when she started confronting me with these “surprises” I would’ve preferred she bring this up months ago instead of springing it on me. During the wedding I noticed she put a cake topper next to the cake (mercifully not on it) my sisters-in-law pulled me aside and said my mom had called my mother-in-law weeks ago and asked her to locate her own cake topper. My sisters-in-law noticed these toppers were not mentioned in any of the decor checklists and asked their mom to lie about not being able to find the cake topper. My in-laws truly prove boomerism is a mentality because they are the same age as my parents but drastically different.
Luckily the wedding was beautiful and I’m so happy with the outcome. I’m trying not to let these small details get me down (but that’s a job for my therapist).

2024.05.21 12:26 aine0102 my parents are controlling

19,f never went out with friends. not that im not an outspoken or friendly person, got a pretty good friend circle extremely talented supportive and hardworking people. they go out all the time and dont have to constantly update their parents on slightest minute plan changes.
first time getting along with people and them instanly making plans of going out was weird but in a jealous weird and questioning. it was later i figured their parents do not ask every detail of their day, who they met, what they had, why were they 5 min late. they dont pick and drop them everywhere they have schedules. and it was after a week or hanging out that i realised, it was me living a diffent life than everyone out there. and it broke me cus that was the point i realised that in the name of protectiveness and security and ease in commutation, they just snatched my independence from me.
they provide for me and i cannot begin to thank them enough for it, pursuing a professional study and doing good at it, always supportive. but that day i sat down and got to a conclusion that if i were to upset my parents or do not do things how they want me to do, i'd lose everything. and that has happened. asked to go out with friends, note that all of my friends come from dignified background humble and kind and educated and themselves are pursuing professional studies. never asked them before so expected there wont be a problem. was in dilemma that i dont go out cuz i dont ask to go out. often picture myself as a bird in cage unaware that shes trapped unless she tries to get out. yea so access to outside without them denied. reasoned a bit on why not. they got mad and yelled and said pretty harsh things. i was in school then and it was for the teacher's birthday. we loved her dearly and she was moving out of country. i was sure they'd let me so made plans and everything cancelled last minute cried whole evening and night. that was when it started. when the bird realised she isnt in a room but a prison.
gave a couple more tries here and there. same answers. silent treatments. refused to enroll me in the course im currently pursuing initially, calling it a financial issue. and yea there were and are financial issues but hey, grasped what was going on and did everything their way. cut ties with everyone except two friends who theyve met plenty more times than others and did as they said. regular classes, not questioning them, spending time with them. enrolled and in classes after six months.
met a guy and he was good. wanted to take me on a date. i knew they wouldnt let me go. took it slow and introduced him as my friend. asked me to cut ties with him. i kinda liked him. we had good undertanding he's help me with studies and confide about his family and life in general and i thought i can date. i wanted to date him. see where it goes like every other teenager who go out on dates after classes and study and support each other. they didnt wanted me to see him or anyother guy even as a friend. deleted every guy friend of mine's contact. we still were seeing each other until i got so burnt out of the constant watch and professional studies and competitive exams also all while managing a degree. had to break ties with him for a couple while and i admittedly couldve done with proper explanation but it was a panic attack, yeah i did starting having them right after school when everything crashed down, so panic attack with all tears and snot and heavy breathing i leave him a text that i cant do this.
fast forward today. exams done. some professional practical work everyone has to take up and my father as usual would pick me up and drop me. yesterday a friend of mine suggested we buy new books and get some food after work was done which is 1:30. i thought now that im old enough, cus the last time i tried asking was 16, maybe i can go. they said yes when asked in morning. 1:45pm text comes in. where u at. when will you be back. gave a location where he'd pick me up after we're done with books things. im at metro station, shaking, holding that ticket beacuse it was all over that again. they let me go but did they? call comes in when i dont reply in 5 minutes. he asks when will i be back upto. on saying by 4, he went why books need so much time. denied that i ever mentioned lunch too. i remember saying lunch and books. couldnt argue, not used to, dont want to upset them. two of my friends waiting for the metro so we go grab lunch and spend some time for the first time in about a year since we met, and im shaking cus its so humiliating and like. this close to crying when he hung up without saying anything further and mum texts in 2 mintes asking me to come back home rn this instant. manage to apologise and run through the station, get a cab and run home in 20 min. 2:20pm. at home. i dont if im though. in my bathroom. crying shaking of embarrassment, humiliation, guilt, frustation, anger. and hunger.
also, crossed path with the guy i was seeing. he had his guitar, he used to play for me after completing studies. killed me to pass by with just a hey and by the looks of it, he was upset about it too. everything keeps falling apart everytime i accomplish one thing.
i dont know if this is how parenting is supposed to be done because none of ppl i know have such parents and controls. so its not normal but is it abusive? i question and then go to sleep cus the obvious answer would disrupt the peace im holding on to. the good side of them keeping me sane.
if you've taken much time to read it through. thank you. i dont have anyone to share this with and im so lonely at times like this

2024.05.21 12:21 Commercial_Pay_3816 Tun Tun ton of garbage review

This is the worst garbage school in Korea. I work at the Ilsan location. The owners are evil. They see foreigners as slaves to take parents' money. They won't give you days off even if you get surgery. They sent me angry messages when I got surgery about how I'm bring selfish and don't care about the school. I had to come to work with bruises and blood and taking 4 different medicines 3 times a day. They have no empathy or humanity and just see you as a tool to be used. You are held hostage. You're not allowed to leave Korea. The kids are wild animals. More than half of them have spectrum disorders and learning disabilities. No one there speaks, reads, or writes English. The kids are in their teens and don't even know their abcs. They put up fake signs about how they win teaching awards when the Korean teachers don't know English and don't teach. They sit the kids at computers and do nothing. Even the parents dont want them teaching because they are uneducated, and they're just there to take their money. They lied about my plane ticket and made me stay another year in order to go home. They make you write reports every 3 months with no time to do them, so you have to do them at home. They don't pay you well. The other Korean teachers know how much you make and get angry, so the bosses won't raise your pay. They make you lie and say good things about the kids when the kids are deplorable. The academy is a complete pathetic waste of time. They are the worst people on planet Earth. They are more evil than anyone in Seoul. The area is garbage. There are no foreigners. No one speaks English. The landlord has a psycho family that stomps on top of you all night. This place is hell. Do not come here unless you want to be treated like a garbage. They tell the kids to quit the academy. They want the kids to be lazy losers while they take all the parent's money. This is not an academy but a phishing scam so the bosses can travel and live a rich life without doing anything.

2024.05.21 12:10 Wide-Junket5293 How does one choose sampradya? What other Advaita lineages are there to choose from?

  1. Does one have to stick with the familial lineage/tradition or how if there is a process to change sampradya? My father was abandoned and adopted and did not know his real father. However, I clearly remember my previous life's guru's eyes and his face has some relativeness to my present life father. This life, I met a guru (online) who looks very different from past life but still has the very same eyes and vibe of my former guru. However, things are still not going well and it's difficult to work together because of some karma. I know I would have to deal with that eventually but is it okay to have a detour? Or i dunno really, do I really have to stick with what doesn't seem to have been working over many lifetimes and just tiring me out, can I just permanently leave? I've tried to leave over and over again in previous life and at present, but it seems to bring me more suffering, and I just intuitively know I'd only be delaying my life course... but does it matter how slow or fast I reach enlightenment?
  2. How does one work well with a compatible guru? In choosing/changing tradition, what are the top things to consider? Do I have to choose based on which I find the most agreeable perspectives? How strict the guru with attendance and practice and if the demands of spiritual work would suit to juggle with my current other responsibilities? Should location really matter, being able to be present in person rather than just online classes? Is it better to open up and have a close relationship with the guru or to keep distance and stay as more of an impersonal student and just ask objective spiritual questions? How far should a student go in forbearing with what seem to be imperfections of a teacher? If I have a problem with the teacheteaching/approach, should I confront/ask or better just silently disappeart?
  3. What other Advaita Schools that have representatives in the Philippines? So far I am only aware of 2 Advaita schools that are available in my country: Ramakrishna and Chinmaya. Chinmaya seem to align closer to my former lineage and to my dharma or life mission. However, some teachings/approach which I may disagree (although still tolerable when I'm in a state of higher spirituality but difficult when I am in my lower consciousness). And similarly, I might get stressed out (react or feel a sense of repulsion/aversion) as with how I differ with my past guru. I've been reading some books from DLS but I find literature from the Ramakrishna order (specially that of Vivekananda) a lot more precise/understandable on some points. So far, as I had been following Swami Sarvapriyananda on YT, in all his long talks I find nothing that causes me cognitive dissonance, and its digestible enough even when I'm in my lower state of awareness. However, Ramakrishna in the Philippines seem to go too far for me about inclusivity towards other religions. I like tolerance but I feel a bit wary looking at their regular schedule of activities with dedicated time slot for recitations of non-Hindu scriptures. I just want to learn the pure form of Hindu teachings without mixing too much of other references. (Although I am comfortable enough with the style of how Swami Sarvapriyananda sparingly injects a bit of Christian or Buddhist teachings just for the purpose of connecting with some people in the audience.)
  4. Would it be alright to follow different sampradyas, study under different gurus, at the same time? I'd like to just continue enjoying Swami Sarvapriyananda's lectures and that is already so much lesson to study, and it is working for me so far successfully answers on my core issues that I struggled over the past decade with no answer. However I also would also like to build networks/relationships with local Hindus just so that I won't feel or think like it is such a lonely path I have to do all by myself, so I would also like to attend in person classes (of which I haven't yet decided). Would it be alright to attend classes of different gurus from different traditions at the same time? Or would it be better to just stick to one teacher at a time?
