I'm sorry, this is a really long post but I'll bullet point most stuff down.

So I (M24) met I'll call her Emily (F23) when I was 16 years old when we were in high school. We met because we had to do a group project together in our American Sign Language class. I had no idea what to do, or what I could possibly change about myself to make it so I would be good enough for her. She knew that I wasn't seeing anyone else, and she wasn't either, or at least that's what she was telling me. I had convinced myself that if I didn't make it work with her, then I wouldn't be able to find anyone else. She kept reassuring me "If you just wait, I promise we'll be together", which I believed wholeheartedly. I just had no idea what would need to happen for that to actually be true. She had convinced me that I was the problem, "I have a hard time trusting you" she'd say to me. I had done nothing to make her lose trust in me. I had always been by her side, and I never was disrespectful to her. I knew that she had problems that she was going through, but I never held that against her. I had done nothing but be supportive to her and take care of her, but it seemed like it wasn't enough. She subtly would tell me things that I should change about myself to make her happier, which I was okay with at first. She would tell me that I shouldn't wear certain things or act a certain way around her, which I listened to. I thought that if I listened to her, then that would mean I would be able to change things. All I could do now is either wait or leave, and I chose to wait. She made it sound like I didn't have to wait long for something to finally change, but I was very wrong.
4 years later, I was coming up on my 23rd birthday. 6 years had passed since we first started talking, and nothing had changed. She was still giving me no indication that she was willing to change anything. By this point I was fed up. I had no idea what I could possibly do that would make any difference in what we were. I started to feel like I was walking on eggshells when I talked to her. She made me feel like I was one move away from messing everything up. I couldn't figure out what she wanted me to do. The last conversation that we had about being together she told me "I thought you were over it by now, I haven't felt that way about you for a long time". I was crushed. She gave me no indication that she felt that way. She never told me that she wasn't wanting to pursue a relationship anymore. I didn't think that her backing away was because she didn't love me anymore. She started working a lot more, and seeing me less. She got really busy with work, and I thought that was taking up a lot of her time and energy. None of the things that she said were gonna happen ever happened. I look back at those conversations that we had about us having a happy life together, and my heart breaks. She made it sound like she wanted to spend the rest of her life with me, but now it seemed like she wanted nothing to do with me anymore. I still have no idea what happened, even as I'm writing this.
I know that I'll never get to see all of the things that she promised that I would, but it's okay. I feel like this has been me going through the stages of grief with this whole situation, so thank you for reading.

I told her that we already did all of the things that anyone else would do in a relationship (besides sex), and it didn't make sense why she was so resistant to making the small adjustment. A year and a half had gone by at this point, and she still insisted that she wasn't ready for a relationship. It had transpired like this: a woman who lived next door to us at the time had said some unkind things to young Bud. Her son had hit or tried to hit him, and Bud had shoved him away. No big deal, but the lady took exception to it.
I had my back turned at the moment, doing some yard work, and was far enough away that I had not heard, as well as had not seen.
Our younger daughter raced past me into the house to tell Momma (she correctly surmised that She would want to know).
An unbroken string of shouted curses, the sound of bare feet pounding across the hardwood floor of a house raised on concrete blocks, and I sensed with some alarm that something was amiss.
The screen door flew open as I dropped the rake I was holding, and Momma came charging out. She cleared the steps midcry without touching a single one, and charged across the yard, long black hair flying.
She was wearing nothing but an old plaid shirt of mine, long sleeves rolled, buttoned down the front, and hanging to mid-thigh. The unbuttoned tails of which were flying backward to reveal a little more. I paused for the briefest of moments to enjoy the view. I’m only human. And have I mentioned she’s Pretty?
But then remembered myself and gave chase. From her proclamation of “I’ll kill you, you fucking bitch!!”, I presumed that her intentions were not good, concerning her obvious target.
That poor woman was in a bit of shock, mouth open and eyes round. And was just Standing there. As Gandalf would have advised: “Run, you fool!”
The first thought that ran unbidden through my mind was: “I don’t have money for bail.”
I cut her off at an angle, and snatched her off her feet. From behind, and I made sure to pin her arms to her sides. She wore her nails longer then, and I wanted no part of those.
It wasn’t hard to hoist her high enough that her feet were off the ground. She was only 4’ 9 1/2”, and hovering at the time between 90 and a hundred pounds.
Holding into her as I carried her back toward the house was the problem. She was squirming and twisting and kicking Me, her bare heels beating my shins and the sides of my legs like bongo drums.
And caught me with a good backward head butt. My fault - should’ve anticipated that. I thereafter had the good sense to tuck my face between her neck and shoulder.
And she was cursing like a drunken jarhead having a Good time as he was preventing himself from being ejected from a bar he did not wish to leave. In Spanish And English. She’d spent a lot of time around a lot of Marines at our last duty station - guess it’d rubbed off. They’d all liked her. So did I.
Interspersed with: “Put me Down, OP!!”
“Nope.”
“You better let me go, you motherfucker!!”
“Not a chance.” Pushing the screen door open with my foot.
I stepped inside with her and held onto her that way.
“Put me Down, you sonofabitch!!”
“Not ‘til you calm the hell down! Owe! Stop kicking!”
Her screaming and cursing gradually lessened, until, calmly: “It’s ok. You can out me down now.”
“Promise?”
“I Said it, didn’t I?!”
As soon as her feet touched the floor, she tried to bolt for the door again, the pint-sized liar! Here we go again.
Eventually I was sure I Could trust her, and I set her on her feet again. The object of her affections had surely, by that time, fled the scene and barricaded herself inside her house. Or hidden under the nearest parked car, whichever was closest. I would have.
I had a moment when she headed toward the kitchen, and I remembered the door to the outside there.
She: “Relax. I want a drink of water.”
I was limping the next day. You’ll do that when you have bruises up and down your legs, and said legs had tightened up. Even had some on the outside of my thighs - how had she managed that? Had a nice bruise high on one cheekbone. I’d taken less damage from some men I’d fought.
It reminded me of when I’d first started seeing her a decade or so before. We’d gone to a late movie, and we’re now walking toward the car in a now nearly empty lot. It had been full when we’d earlier arrived, causing us to have to park at the far edge, near a stand of high bushes.
I didn’t mind the walk. She was who I sensed she was even then. Untold beauty in miniature. Back and shoulders straight, he’d head high. A classic Spanish face such as I’d seen in old paintings, her father’s father having emigrated from there. One night, lying in bed together, I’d said: “I’ve met you before, you know.”
“Oh? And how is that?”
“I’ve seen your face looking at me from the walls of art galleries in cities in different parts of the world.”
I’d haunt the galleries in major cities, when we’d put into port, every chance I had - saw some wonderful old originals that way.
She was Perfection, as far as I was concerned, on that night. Long black hair falling loose down the back of the high school band jacket she wore above a pair of softly worn and faded denim jeans that clung to her perfectly. Brushing her hips, and catching highlights from the light on a lamp post we passed under.
Slender, proud, and unmatchable at 22, walking with a dancer’s grace.
And three men stepped out of the bushes as we approached the car. Probably not an issue, but they weren’t looking our way, as people normally would. It’s natural to give at least a glance. A small nod of greeting or acknowledgment. But they hadn’t.
On the streets, in the City where my brothers and I had done most of our growing up, you had to learn to read people and developing situations. Be aware and wary at all times. If a group of men were approaching you on the sidewalk, they and you going to pass each other, a glance and small nod of acknowledgement indicated no ill intent. A brief meeting of the eyes. Especially important if you yourself were alone.
But if they pointedly looked everywhere but At you, and made as if to ostentatiously ignore you, it was time to get ready. And you wanted on your person something with which to defend yourself. They would have their own. A sap or good knife, though illegal, PD would overlook if they found one on you. They understood the character of the place as well as we did.
That had saved me from being beaten, robbed, or worse on at least one occasion; being aware of what was about to happen. With no time or room to run, I’d stepped back into a recessed boarded-over store front. Those often, as did that one, kind of funneled or narrowed slightly the further back they went, until after seven feet or so, you had your back to the door at the narrow end.
Good defensive position. They’d have to come at you head-on - couldn’t do it from your back or sides. And not much room in which to maneuver.
A brief standoff, as they blocked my exit, and considered their options. Eye contact Now, the pricks. But I had something in my band by then, and at least one of them would get hurt, too.
They decided it’d be too much trouble, and went on their way. Easier pickings somewhere else. None of us had said a word.
I’d waited to make Sure they had, and hadn’t just been trying to trick me and draw me out. Then, after making sure the coast was clear, I did the same. I’d ventured alone into a part of town not my own, in which my brothers and I were not known. I’d been foolish to.
The things you had to know in that place.
A handgun, though, was another matter. Stopped and searched and one found on you, you were going to have a very bad day Before you got to the station house. And another bad one after. Too many of them had been killed with one. Just unwritten rules that were understood by all.
But still, there were times and situations when you needed one. They weren’t at all hard to find - didn’t even need to leave the neighborhood. And no paper trail to trace one back to you.
I motioned Momma to fall back a little, and she understood, and did. Three of them, but I knew I could take ‘em if I had to. I had before. And I had her with me to think about.
We both slowed our walk, as they and we drew nearer to each other, our paths about to cross at an angle. Get ready.
But they continued on their way. Just some guys taking a shortcut, maybe.
Paranoia? Not at all. In the inner city ghetto world in which my bros and I had lived, those not paying attention, and oblivious to what was going on around them, were the ones who got hurt. Killed, sometimes.
Momma stepped up beside me then, smiled up at me confidently, and I watched her slip what she’d been holding in her hand back into her purse. And laughed delightedly. The pretty little savage had been prepared to back me up all along.

“To keep someone from hurting you? Of course I would. You’d do the same for me.”

She was looking better than I’d ever seen her that night, and that was saying quite a lot. A white summer dress with lots of lace. Black hair a river of shiny silk down her back. Silver at her throat, and in her hair. Silver hoops dangling from her ears. Silver bangles on her arms. The bright red lipstick she favored then.
I’d left her alone to make a quick head call, and had returned to find another man had taken my place in my absence, doing his best to chat her up. She watching his face in amusement and contempt, not saying a word.
I was used, by then, to other men looking at her. It didn’t bother me. Why should it? She was who and what she was. I’d’ve been looking, too. But this was a little much.
I walked over to where they both were, met his eyes and smiled. He stammered a hurried apology, face turning red, and headed for the door.
She and I looked at each other, and both started laughing at the same time. Worked every time - I never had to say a word.
“Why didn’t you tell ‘I’m to fuck off?” I asked.
“Didn’t need to, Babe - you were here.”
And I’d thought: “I always will be.”
I made a good friend at that our last posting, and she was the impetus of it. A very able and capable Lieutenant in our unit. He’d asked me one day: “Sgt OP, your wife is Latina?”
“Hispanic. South Texas girl by way of California, Sir.”
“I saw the two of you out walking the other day. Man, she has that long black hair! She reminds me of the small village in the mountains I grew up in in Cuba. The women there wore their hair like that. You don’t mind me saying so, she’s quite lovely.”
“That she is, Lt. That she is.”
“I’d say you’re a lucky man, Sgt.”
But I already knew that.
I liked Lt C a great deal, and we worked well together. Our new First Sgt didn’t seem to, though - they butted heads frequently. Top didn’t care for me, either, for that matter, and didn’t try to hide it. But considering C’s many outstanding qualities, I took That as a compliment.
All a long time ago now. Many years have passed. Her hair’s much shorter now, and has some white in it. She’s gotten a little rounder, and frets over it, though I continually reassure her it doesn’t matter - that she still makes me smile just by being in her presence, and is still as beautiful as ever.
She’s doing an aerobic workout every morning, though, along with some women on a U-Tube channel; determined to slim down. Can’t tell her anything - nothing new there.
And I’ve been using a walker today, for the downright humiliation of it. Better than falling on my butt, I guess. Knee’s starting to feel better, though. Doesn’t hurt as much, and starting to bend a little and take a little weight again.
When I was young, I could take just about anything. Fell out of the back of a moving pickup onto pavement when I was 19. Picked myself up, wiped off the blood, and laughed it off. We all thought we were immortal then, The Boys and me, until we learned we weren’t.
Had a surgical procedure performed the year before that with no anesthetic, due to circumstances, and hadn’t made a peep. Ever have an open bone-deep wound afterward flushed out with saline? Stuff Burns, brother.
And now my gimpy self, lol.
Hear here’s gone, though, with a storm blowing in. Thunder and lightning, strong, cool wind picking up. Lots of rain. Gonna sit outside here and enjoy it - love a good storm. There are certain things in life you don’t want to miss.
A buddy and I defied previous orders once, and snuck out on deck as our ship was passing through a typhoon it the Philippine Sea - wanted to experience it up close and personal. Experience of a Lifetime, and didn’t get blown overboard! Standing on deck trying to keep our feet under us as we watched the shrieking wind blow rain and sea- foam completely sideways was a thing to Remember! The high-quality weed we’d smoked only made it better.
The two of us were just surprised we were the only ones out there. Who in their right minds would willingly miss This? Afraid of getting in trouble, the lot of ‘em, the chickenshits. I usually was anyway, so meh.

I’d waited to make Sure they had, and hadn’t just been trying to trick me and draw me out. Then, after making sure the coast was clear, I did the same. I’d ventured alone into a part of town not my own, in which my brothers and I were not known. I’d been foolish to.
The things you had to know in that place.
A handgun, though, was another matter. Stopped and searched and one found on you, you were going to have a very bad day Before you got to the station house. And another bad one after. Too many of them had been killed with one. Just unwritten rules that were understood by all.
But still, there were times and situations when you needed one. They weren’t at all hard to find - didn’t even need to leave the neighborhood. And no paper trail to trace one back to you.
I motioned Momma to fall back a little, and she understood, and did. Three of them, but I knew I could take ‘em if I had to. I had before. And I had her with me to think about.
We both slowed our walk, as they and we drew nearer to each other, our paths about to cross at an angle. Get ready.
But they continued on their way. Just some guys taking a shortcut, maybe.
Paranoia? Not at all. In the inner city ghetto world in which my bros and I had lived, those not paying attention, and oblivious to what was going on around them, were the ones who got hurt. Killed, sometimes.
Momma stepped up beside me then, smiled up at me confidently, and I watched her slip what she’d been holding in her hand back into her purse. And laughed delightedly. The pretty little savage had been prepared to back me up all along.

I asked her once, years later, apropos of nothing, just making idle conversation during a long drive: “Would you kill for me?”
“To keep someone from hurting you? Of course I would. You’d do the same for me.”
That simple answer, and the easy confidence in which it was uttered, made me feel warm inside.
Another time, during the years we’d spent in California, when we were both still so unfashionably young, she and I had gone to a club in town for a much-needed night out.
She was looking better than I’d ever seen her that night, and that was saying quite a lot. A white summer dress with lots of lace. Black hair a river of shiny silk down her back. Silver at her throat, and in her hair. Silver hoops dangling from her ears. Silver bangles on her arms. The bright red lipstick she favored then.
I’d left her alone to make a quick head call, and had returned to find another man had taken my place in my absence, doing his best to chat her up. She watching his face in amusement and contempt, not saying a word.
I was used, by then, to other men looking at her. It didn’t bother me. Why should it? She was who and what she was. I’d’ve been looking, too. But this was a little much.
I walked over to where they both were, met his eyes and smiled. He stammered a hurried apology, face turning red, and headed for the door.
She and I looked at each other, and both started laughing at the same time. Worked every time - I never had to say a word.
“Why didn’t you tell ‘I’m to fuck off?” I asked.
“Didn’t need to, Babe - you were here.”
And I’d thought: “I always will be.”
I made a good friend at that our last posting, and she was the impetus of it. A very able and capable Lieutenant in our unit. He’d asked me one day: “Sgt OP, your wife is Latina?”
“Hispanic. South Texas girl by way of California, Sir.”
“I saw the two of you out walking the other day. Man, she has that long black hair! She reminds me of the small village in the mountains I grew up in in Cuba. The women there wore their hair like that. You don’t mind me saying so, she’s quite lovely.”
“That she is, Lt. That she is.”
“I’d say you’re a lucky man, Sgt.”
But I already knew that.
I liked Lt C a great deal, and we worked well together. Our new First Sgt didn’t seem to, though - they butted heads frequently. Top didn’t care for me, either, for that matter, and didn’t try to hide it. But considering C’s many outstanding qualities, I took That as a compliment.
All a long time ago now. Many years have passed. Her hair’s much shorter now, and has some white in it. She’s gotten a little rounder, and frets over it, though I continually reassure her it doesn’t matter - that she still makes me smile just by being in her presence, and is still as beautiful as ever.
She’s doing an aerobic workout every morning, though, along with some women on a U-Tube channel; determined to slim down. Can’t tell her anything - nothing new there.
And I’ve been using a walker today, for the downright humiliation of it. Better than falling on my butt, I guess. Knee’s starting to feel better, though. Doesn’t hurt as much, and starting to bend a little and take a little weight again.
When I was young, I could take just about anything. Fell out of the back of a moving pickup onto pavement when I was 19. Picked myself up, wiped off the blood, and laughed it off. We all thought we were immortal then, The Boys and me, until we learned we weren’t.
Had a surgical procedure performed the year before that with no anesthetic, due to circumstances, and hadn’t made a peep. Ever have an open bone-deep wound afterward flushed out with saline? Stuff Burns, brother.
And now my gimpy self, lol.
Hear here’s gone, though, with a storm blowing in. Thunder and lightning, strong, cool wind picking up. Lots of rain. Gonna sit outside here and enjoy it - love a good storm. There are certain things in life you don’t want to miss.
A buddy and I defied previous orders once, and snuck out on deck as our ship was passing through a typhoon it the Philippine Sea - wanted to experience it up close and personal. Experience of a Lifetime, and didn’t get blown overboard! Standing on deck trying to keep our feet under us as we watched the shrieking wind blow rain and sea- foam completely sideways was a thing to Remember! The high-quality weed we’d smoked only made it better.
The two of us were just surprised we were the only ones out there. Who in their right minds would willingly miss This? Afraid of getting in trouble, the lot of ‘em, the chickenshits. I usually was anyway, so meh.

I'm 24y, i stopped leaving home since i was 14y and stayed on my pc/school only until i dropped school when i was 15y and for days i never left my room not even to take a shower, then at 19 i found a job that had a nighshift and it is where i'm working since then, i still have no friends irl, i have 2 friends on the internet that i talk with them for 2 hours once every 2 months, the people i talk the most are strangers on a discord that i barely know and i usually do monologues about what i've just read, never really talking to anyone, i also never had a girlfriend and never liked anyone to begin with and i'm surprised that there's people who like my company at my job, i don't like people looking at me so when i have to leave for anything else like buying food i always wear a hood and weirdly enough this isn't a problem when i'm at my job.
I have no strenght/will to do anything, i'm constantly bored and tired of everything i feel pain everywhere and i have some stupid problems recently like thinking i'm going to have a heart attack everytime i go to sleep, and when i sleep i can't get a normal sleep i either wake up after 4 hours or i sleep for 15, i eat twice a day: one time on my lunch break, one time when i get back from work.
I either talk too much and too fast or i don't talk at all which sometimes i hear gossip about that part, that i look ''angry'', i don't know how to reply to texts that aren't questions so some of my family complain about that too.
People opinion around me are inconsistant, some say i'm insensitive and ''rough'', others say i'm funny and ''courteous'' to the point i don't even know what i really am.
Everyday i say that i will change, but i never do... my entire life is stuck on the same routine every single day: I go to work, i get home, i read and watch something, sometimes i play something and i go to sleep.
How do i escape from this?

Ok so, I am in the eigth grade and our school does a mini eighth grade “graduation ceremony” for our transition into highschool. Part of this event is three people from eighth grade giving a speech to the student body and parents. I decided to submit my speech and I believe that I did impeccable in my audition, I was able to look up and give eye contact, was able to be breviloquent when reading, and my voice projected enough even without the mic.
After delivering the speech to my homeroom class and the judges I sat down and listened to the next speech. The next speech was by a girl who was infact, dyslexic. She was unable to look up at the crowd and even had to be REMINDED to pause during periods. It was to my utter repulsion and envy that the dyslexic girl was chosen to deliver the speech.
I just was at a complete loss I what I could’ve possibly did wrong, I had more achievements such as volunteering at a nursing home, being head of student council, being in the gifted program, having the highest MAP testing score, and being chosen to write letters thanking a foundation for donating to my school. Besides I am far better at reading and writing than anybody in our school, even my homeroom teacher said that I am to the entire class!
So I was rather upset by being beaten by someone with a disability and turned to my friend to tell her I believed that this girl was chosen “Out of pity because shes disabled” and one of the teachers ended up pulling me aside to tell me how rude and disrespectful it was that I said that, and said they needed to “give equal opportunities to all of my peers” Even though some of my peers are mentally… lackluster. I just don’t understand why they couldn’t include someone who can read properly, I mean I know way more about literature than she does! She couldn’t name a classic that wasn’t taught in school, like when I attempted to speak to her about the novel Catch-22.
Overall, I know it was probably mean, and i’ve prayed and wished and hoped on her downfall, but I really don’t care that its wrong because I was still sitting in the audience. It just felt humiliating that most people didn’t know how intelligent I am, and how well I can write! Plus, they said they needed a “good role model” and someone to “represent our school”, which the winners were ofcourse not. One of them was a dyslexic and the other a godless, hedonistic, sIut who has spent more time on her knees in the boy’s bathroom than she has reading. If this post gives you the wrong idea on how I present myself, I normally present myself like I care, I even made up how much I enjoy our new principal even though she is a dictator and said it like I meant it. Everybody talks about how i’m so smart, and how i’m respectful and funny and other things, so I have no idea what I did wrong.

- It is intended to be an old-school LAN party; everyone attending is over 30, and we will likely play the classic titles (Warcraft 3 / Counter-Strike 1.6 / Quake / Age of Empires / Starcraft 1-2 / Diablo 2 / Unreal Tournament / Command and Conquer).
- Power: We have identified the circuits and will connect a maximum of 2-3 computers per circuit.
- WLAN: We will cover the WLAN with repeaters.
- Internet: Unfortunately, the internet is not particularly good.
- Toilets, etc., are available.
- We wanted to offer food but are considering providing only snacks and drinks, with participants ordering their own meals (e.g., group pizza orders).
- How is it done with games today? In the past, we bought them and didn't need the internet. Nowadays, everything has to be purchased via Steam. Can a LAN be organized through Steam and Battle.net?
- Should I buy a switch and offer most of the games offline? (You know what I mean) (the old games and play via LAN offline)
- Should I connect an SSD with Steam games to the switch so that the games don't have to be downloaded first?
- Is a daily entrance fee (including snacks and drinks) of €50 okay?

Extra-curriculars- classical dancer for 10+ years (but no significant achievement or reward as such.. i go to a dance class few times a week and basically practice and perform on stage on occasions)
a major disadvantage i have is i took a gap year before starting college. I heard gap years are usually not appreciated unless you can show you contributed something significant, which i don't think i have.
Now I understand there are people who are 100x more achieving than me who will also apply. I just want to know if these stats will yield any good result. I am quite ordinary with no special flair as such.

Im just kind of confused and disappointed with the turn that it took..
No follow up on the great stuff they had set up at the end of season 3, you’d think they picked up a whole new writing staff off of the street.
I may be recalling this incorrectly… but I thought that there was a glimpse of a scene with the new principal grootman shredding oath papers… somehow hinting that he was involved in all of the trafficking somehow and that his new position as the headmaster was a move to infiltrate the school.
No follow up either with the photos of tahira and the other girl (I forget her name rn the gossip mag girl) taking shots and that one guy saying “good thing there’s more”… Idk I think they could’ve really thickened the plot and delved into something way more interesting than a weird classic bully goes crazy trope. Feel like they completely brushed over sam’s trauma,, just how traumatizing all of that was in general…. And completely throwing away their plot with box lady Molabo referencing that it’s not over ?? And that if point of grace wanted to strike they would know certainly ??? And just ??? Like bro they said the investors were really upset about it getting busted and molabo out for the count .. you’d think they would follow up on. That… you don’t just take downs. Trafficking syndicate and get away ?? With it ?? Just dumb plot overall. Hoping it was just a throwaway season and that they tie up loose ends if there’s ever a season 5. There’s no way that was a serious season.

I have been reading about something called complex trauma, or complex ptsd. There has been a lot of good material about this out there nowadays, in the past I think this topic was not so well understood.
After learning about this, I realised how starkly ignorant I was of it before. For example, imagine being on fire but not having a concept of fire.
Trauma is something that, it seems, affects everybody or almost everybody. It does not only take war to cause trauma.
In my own life, I was totally shattered by the effects of trauma without really realising what that means. I wasn’t taught about this, I had no concept of it. I just knew the pain it entailed.
One day I became aware of mindfulness, thank you dr. hoffman. I learned about the basics of breath meditation.
I watched Sam Harris talk about how we have no self.
Then I got into Thai Forest Buddhism, then into Tibetan Buddhism.
Over the course I started having some spiritual experiences. Some of them related to seeing negative spirits. But I also had other long term issues in my life, related to illness, pain, conflict, and etc. I dove into spiritual practice as a tool for dealing with these protracted issues.
Eventually it worked but then it revealed a level that I had to learn about trauma. It wasn’t enough to learn about Buddhist texts or practices only. Sometimes Buddhists will talk about trauma but not only.
A lot of Vajrayana books have a warning in the intro that, a guru is not their job to fix your mental health problems, or your parental issues, etc. That you should see a therapist for this. And sometimes it is an issue at Buddhist centers being flooded by people in need of mental health assistance but this is not the niche of a temple environment.
In my own case, I have something called insecure attachment style. This is something I’ve been learning about only recently. I think it is really indispensable for my Buddhist practice but i’m not sure this is necessarily spelled out in Buddhism the way it is spelled out in psychology.
An insecure attachment style means not having a healthy emotional bond with your caretakers as a child. That was me. I didn’t have any healthy bonds with anyone as a child. Not any person. Also I was molested. My mother’s family has a history of pedophilia.
My mother might be armchair diagnosed as narcissistic, or borderline, or histrionic, or… psychopathic... But almost definitely also with complex trauma of her own. Especially given her own parents predelictions.
Tim Fletcher talks about how 97% of people with addictive tendencies have complex trauma. I think it was also him who said that if complex trauma were given its due (something like 70%) of the dsm would be removed.
In my own life, i’m a relatively functioning person. I am a teacher. I am a parent. I’m a loving husband. But in some way, inside I am totally and irreparably broken in a way that is unbearably excruciating. What is broken? Where is this pain coming from?
I ran into some issues before that seemed straight up karmic and I could straight up deal with them with Buddhist methods like karmic purification. I used to constantly hurt my back, i had repeat herniated discs, and I’d get poisoned a lot , i’d meet a lot of enemies, have insecure conditions. This is a karmic issue, and when i started doing dharma practice with the protections of lineage these symptoms eased up, the evil spirits went away, the back injury healed, i dont get poisoned or sick as much.
But then under this I discovered this emotional trauma related to childhood. Teal Swan talks about spiritual bypassing with regards to trama. I think I wanted to do this previously, before I discovered what is trauma. That if I could do the mantra enough times, then, I wouldn’t have to face the pain or do the work psychologically to reconnect with the shattered parts of myself.
But I didn’t know it’s possible to do it. Buddhism, especially vajrayana methods, gave me the tools to access the broken and fearful parts of my psyche. And then an understanding of trama and the relevant psychology helped me to hone my tools to deal with it more effectively.
There is something called Internal Families Systems, or “parts.” the parts of the psyche are not like one person. They are like many people, and that have different roles. Your psyche also has in it versions of your self as a child, as etc. etc. It’s all in your psyche.
At some points this becomes magical and like a shamanic journeying. You are enting the void to retrieve the broken parts of yourself and you must over come the fear of deaht to do it. Like physical therapy it is fucking painful.
In the “parts” system, there is a role called “protector.” In Tibetan Buddhism there is also something called a “protector,” or dharmapala.
Some Buddhist practices don’t consider deities to be external to us but parts of our own psyche. This is an exact fit with the relevant psychology. As I understand, Jung had some things to say about this but I never studied Jung.
Something i’m working with nowadays also is to recognise triggers. I think that this word was poisoned by memes. Triggered has come to mean “asshole.” I am a high school teacher and for so many years, “I am triggered” was the punchline for every joke. They were making fun of the people who had misused the word.
But this word needs to be dusted off, this is a real thing. I thought before that I had ptsd but i didn’t really contemplate what that meant. If you have ptsd, triggers are going to fuck you up. Learning to manage them is part of shamanic journeying. Sometimes, even now, when I hear a door opening or closing my stomach wrenches and my cortisol spikes and my heart races. I have to try to explain to my wife, what is this , why is it happening, how can she help. And it's hard to do because if something is your trigger, trying to talk about it can cause you to dissociate. But not recognising your triggers can cause you to dissociate too. And you are living like a zombie emotionally.
I didn't even understand that I was dissociating as a tactic to deal with unmanageable pain.
In my opinion the part that Buddhist practices brings to thet able that mere psychology does not is protection from karmic problems that you can’t solve with ordinary means. For example - let’s say that you’ve got some especially sticky negative karma caused by something very bad you did, and every time you try to approach healing your trauma, something gets in the way. Let’s say there are some demons feeding on your suffering and every time you approach improvement, they throw obstacles at you or press your pain so you don’t have the strength to do it.
It’s a lot more difficult to beat those types of demons without lineage protection. If you’ve figured out how to get to a level of Buddhist practice where you’ve actually got real lineage protection, you aren’t concerned about any of this kind of obstacle. Demons can’t hurt you. Negative spirits aren’t a real threat anymore. So then you can face the real darkness in your heart and you know you’re safe. It can’t really destroy you. Because the really truly fearsome things in the world, they can’t hurt you because you are under that lineage umbrella.
There is also a fact that karma can get stuck in your body like a poison. In some traditions, when you engage in karmic purification, you can see it happening. There are clear indications. For me, I often see negative karma "shed" as small insects. I've also had dreams of vomiting some foul thing (sometimes presenting as black liquid), which is a classical indication of karmic purification in some practices. There are indications - you can see the negative karma being ejected out. IF somebody has really pristine karma, then maybe they don't need to do this. But for those of us with mixed pasts I think it is indispensible. It is much more difficult to purify the karma of our past crimes and wrongdoings with just psychology than with the magic of buddhas.
This kind of Buddha magic can magically frame symptoms of bad karma - such as sickness appearing - as something redeeming. Like - you're getting sick because the burden is being released. It is a movement towards freedom. Just like vomiting means getting out poison that makes you sick. This framing helps a lot. In my own life, I had some dark visions or saw evil things in my mind. Before, it seemed like something bad was happening to me. But now if I see such a thing, in the context of such practice and lineage protection, I feel it is fortunate. "Thank goodness that energy can release." Like a deep fart after gas pains - it's the sign of pressure being released. Of course want that. This framing is part of the power of Buddha magic.
One of the fun things about the story of Guru Rinpoche is that he’s quite badass. This is very appealing for people who have encountered strong evils in the world. When Guru Rinpoche went about the world, terrible demons confronted him everywhere and he kicked their fucking ass every time. Knowing that he is willing and able to beat the shit out of demons is definitely relevant to spiritual practice where confronting your karmic chains is actually and in fact going to cause demonics spirits who don’t want you getting free to come around and start fucking with you. And if you’ve been fucked with by spirits, sometimes magicians and these people can talk about this, but having looked at all that I think it’s better not to play harry potter to deal with harmful spirits and instead to rely on the protection of Buddhist lineage.
Arya Tara is sometimes called “the one who protects from fears” and I once heard this explained that in Tibetan, “fears” means both the emotion of fear and the thing that you are afraid of, the dangerous thing.
Mantras have magical powers and this is an easy way to connect to lineage. In some cases I had to use buddhist mantras do deal with the physical consequences of trauma. For example perpetual fear, that kind of wrenches the heart and causes pain in the chest. Chanting the Vajra Guru Mantra I found actually dissipates this fear. And if you have these symptoms of trauma you are sick, all the time, so if there is some kind of relief to the pain you will take it.

An insecure attachment style means not having a healthy emotional bond with your caretakers as a child. That was me. I didn’t have any healthy bonds with anyone as a child. Not any person. Also I was molested. My mother’s family has a history of pedophilia.
My mother might be armchair diagnosed as narcissistic, or borderline, or histrionic, or… psychopathic... But almost definitely also with complex trauma of her own. Especially given her own parents predelictions.
Tim Fletcher talks about how 97% of people with addictive tendencies have complex trauma. I think it was also him who said that if complex trauma were given its due (something like 70%) of the dsm would be removed.
In my own life, i’m a relatively functioning person. I am a teacher. I am a parent. I’m a loving husband. But in some way, inside I am totally and irreparably broken in a way that is unbearably excruciating. What is broken? Where is this pain coming from?
I ran into some issues before that seemed straight up karmic and I could straight up deal with them with Buddhist methods like karmic purification. I used to constantly hurt my back, i had repeat herniated discs, and I’d get poisoned a lot , i’d meet a lot of enemies, have insecure conditions. This is a karmic issue, and when i started doing dharma practice with the protections of lineage these symptoms eased up, the evil spirits went away, the back injury healed, i dont get poisoned or sick as much.
But then under this I discovered this emotional trauma related to childhood. Teal Swan talks about spiritual bypassing with regards to trama. I think I wanted to do this previously, before I discovered what is trauma. That if I could do the mantra enough times, then, I wouldn’t have to face the pain or do the work psychologically to reconnect with the shattered parts of myself.
But I didn’t know it’s possible to do it. Buddhism, especially vajrayana methods, gave me the tools to access the broken and fearful parts of my psyche. And then an understanding of trama and the relevant psychology helped me to hone my tools to deal with it more effectively.
There is something called Internal Families Systems, or “parts.” the parts of the psyche are not like one person. They are like many people, and that have different roles. Your psyche also has in it versions of your self as a child, as etc. etc. It’s all in your psyche.
At some points this becomes magical and like a shamanic journeying. You are enting the void to retrieve the broken parts of yourself and you must over come the fear of deaht to do it. Like physical therapy it is fucking painful.
In the “parts” system, there is a role called “protector.” In Tibetan Buddhism there is also something called a “protector,” or dharmapala.
Some Buddhist practices don’t consider deities to be external to us but parts of our own psyche. This is an exact fit with the relevant psychology. As I understand, Jung had some things to say about this but I never studied Jung.
Something i’m working with nowadays also is to recognise triggers. I think that this word was poisoned by memes. Triggered has come to mean “asshole.” I am a high school teacher and for so many years, “I am triggered” was the punchline for every joke. They were making fun of the people who had misused the word.
But this word needs to be dusted off, this is a real thing. I thought before that I had ptsd but i didn’t really contemplate what that meant. If you have ptsd, triggers are going to fuck you up. Learning to manage them is part of shamanic journeying. Sometimes, even now, when I hear a door opening or closing my stomach wrenches and my cortisol spikes and my heart races. I have to try to explain to my wife, what is this , why is it happening, how can she help. And it's hard to do because if something is your trigger, trying to talk about it can cause you to dissociate. But not recognising your triggers can cause you to dissociate too. And you are living like a zombie emotionally.
I didn't even understand that I was dissociating as a tactic to deal with unmanageable pain.
In my opinion the part that Buddhist practices brings to thet able that mere psychology does not is protection from karmic problems that you can’t solve with ordinary means. For example - let’s say that you’ve got some especially sticky negative karma caused by something very bad you did, and every time you try to approach healing your trauma, something gets in the way. Let’s say there are some demons feeding on your suffering and every time you approach improvement, they throw obstacles at you or press your pain so you don’t have the strength to do it.
It’s a lot more difficult to beat those types of demons without lineage protection. If you’ve figured out how to get to a level of Buddhist practice where you’ve actually got real lineage protection, you aren’t concerned about any of this kind of obstacle. Demons can’t hurt you. Negative spirits aren’t a real threat anymore. So then you can face the real darkness in your heart and you know you’re safe. It can’t really destroy you. Because the really truly fearsome things in the world, they can’t hurt you because you are under that lineage umbrella.
There is also a fact that karma can get stuck in your body like a poison. In some traditions, when you engage in karmic purification, you can see it happening. There are clear indications. For me, I often see negative karma "shed" as small insects. I've also had dreams of vomiting some foul thing (sometimes presenting as black liquid), which is a classical indication of karmic purification in some practices. There are indications - you can see the negative karma being ejected out. IF somebody has really pristine karma, then maybe they don't need to do this. But for those of us with mixed pasts I think it is indispensible. It is much more difficult to purify the karma of our past crimes and wrongdoings with just psychology than with the magic of buddhas.
This kind of Buddha magic can magically frame symptoms of bad karma - such as sickness appearing - as something redeeming. Like - you're getting sick because the burden is being released. It is a movement towards freedom. Just like vomiting means getting out poison that makes you sick. This framing helps a lot. In my own life, I had some dark visions or saw evil things in my mind. Before, it seemed like something bad was happening to me. But now if I see such a thing, in the context of such practice and lineage protection, I feel it is fortunate. "Thank goodness that energy can release." Like a deep fart after gas pains - it's the sign of pressure being released. Of course want that. This framing is part of the power of Buddha magic.
One of the fun things about the story of Guru Rinpoche is that he’s quite badass. This is very appealing for people who have encountered strong evils in the world. When Guru Rinpoche went about the world, terrible demons confronted him everywhere and he kicked their fucking ass every time. Knowing that he is willing and able to beat the shit out of demons is definitely relevant to spiritual practice where confronting your karmic chains is actually and in fact going to cause demonics spirits who don’t want you getting free to come around and start fucking with you. And if you’ve been fucked with by spirits, sometimes magicians and these people can talk about this, but having looked at all that I think it’s better not to play harry potter to deal with harmful spirits and instead to rely on the protection of Buddhist lineage.
Arya Tara is sometimes called “the one who protects from fears” and I once heard this explained that in Tibetan, “fears” means both the emotion of fear and the thing that you are afraid of, the dangerous thing.
Mantras have magical powers and this is an easy way to connect to lineage. In some cases I had to use buddhist mantras do deal with the physical consequences of trauma. For example perpetual fear, that kind of wrenches the heart and causes pain in the chest. Chanting the Vajra Guru Mantra I found actually dissipates this fear. And if you have these symptoms of trauma you are sick, all the time, so if there is some kind of relief to the pain you will take it.

I have this theory that girls who are born pretty just act differently. I’m talking about the girls who are born beautiful, mula pagkabata maganda, walang awkward teenage phase. Born into the pretty privilege. These girls are unfazed by compliments and require grand gestures/display of admiration to even catch their eyes. Tipong sobrang normal sakanila ng pretty girl treatment, that getting a compliment isn’t new or be crazy about. They don’t even have to put themselves out there or audition. They know men will flock nonetheless. And male attention/validation isn’t really all that to them. Some of them are either crazy entitled or extremely down to earth. And because they know they’re pretty, they don’t feel pressure to convince you.
Then you have the New Pretty. Yung nag glow up recently. Probably bullied nung high school tapos nag gym, proper skin care. Probably had surgery here and there. Please post em thirst traps 🥵🥵🥵 — But notice how the REALLY BEAUTIFUL GIRLS don’t feel the need to expose their body and singit? Haha ewan ko ha. Pansinin niyo. It’s not because they dont have it. Oh they do. But they don’t feel the need to do it. They don’t need to make up for anything. They think access to that is a privilege not easily available to just anyone.

If we keep enough distance, we'll force him into using that specific and punishable move, in fact. Dazzling Devil has no ranged attacks and his Hoshin-ryu style relies on shortening distance (and using aerial attacks), so all we need is to learn the aforementioned Sky Splitter's exact timing, keep deflecting and punishing it. That said, at times the AI may choose other moves (mostly 4-hit combos), so it's advised to just block them. Be careful of his ability to block and counter with a fast Martial Art (Grab). It's worth knowing that his other two Martial Arts are delayed (~1 sec). Our every action costs Ki and his high Ki damage means a potential guard break, so we definitely don't want to trade blows with him. Best to keep it simple - keep calm, stay away, deflect those Martial Arts and you'll control this fight. More tips: -Dazzling Devil wields the Greatsword, so it's best to choose the Chi style for this fight (better Ki management), -recommended level for this fight is 30+, so be sure to reach that threshold at least (non-challengers), -beat a special enemy to get high rarity items + "The Seven Military Classics" (in the treasue chest nearby) - use it to earn one Skill point of each type, -uses mostly 4-hit combos and deals high Ki damage, but if we are high on Ki ourselves, he won't be able to break our guard with them (all "regulars") anyway. Just be watchful of the unblockable Last Rite and Charged Slash Martial Arts, as he likes to end his combos with them. If you can't read them well, try dodging forwards instead, -running costs Ki, so don't overdo it, -Blade Flash (R1; after attacking) to regain more Ki. Good luck! |

I first started having migraines at 7 years old. I remember throwing up in the play ground so many times. The next day I'd be told by kids that I shouldn't be at school because I have a "tummy bug". The noise of school triggered my migraines a lot.
There are a lot of migraine sufferers on my mum's side of the family. My mum, grandma and great grandma all had them and so does my uncle.
When I was 14 I had a traumatic brain injury with bleeding on the brain that made my plight much worse. Even after I got over my injury, my migraines were worse for many years.
In my 20s I had ups and downs, periods where the migraines would be gone for a while and periods they'd come back more often. But I'd always usually have at least one a month (I know many people here have things so much worse and I feel for you so much.) I got very good at managing them.
Then when I was around 25-26 I had a period of time when my headaches became a daily occurance. I say headaches because they did seem to be somewhat different to migraines, with similarities. I'd wake up in the morning with a very strong headache and a bad feeling in my tummy. Medication and caffeine would help but I just couldn't understand what was going on. It seemed potentially alcohol related but then sometimes it would happen without me having had anything to drink, other times I'd have had a few drinks and nothing. I went through a bunch of medical treatments, nothing really helped.
Then when I was 26/27 I stopped eating dairy. I'd long suspected I had an intolerance and so I tried the elimination diet and figured out it helped me with many gut symptoms.
3+ years on I do not get migraines. The only times these come on is if I've had considerable amounts of dairy over the course of a number of days. It's so stark that it's almost like someone waved a wand.
Some other symptoms I've rid myself of: constant loose stool, feelings of inflammation in the stomach and gut that I just thought were normal, intense hyperactivity in the evenings (after large meal with dairy and a glass of wine), almost constant high resting heart rate.
I also want to say that the majority of headaches I've had throughout my life were definitely migraines. I was assessed by many doctors, I had all of the classic symptoms pre, during and post migraine. I won't list them as you know them yourselves.
I know that this won't be the case for many of you, if not most. But those of you who are suffering so much for many years, I really recommend you try an elimination diet to see if you have any food intolerances. At the end of the day, it's worth a shot! (Please don't take this as medical advice, I am not a medical professional, this is just what worked for me.)

My (23F) boyfriend (23M) supports us financially while I stay home and do housework such as taking care of pets and all that stuff. The reason I haven't been working is that after I started transitioning, there were a whole lot of things about my childhood that started to surface in my head once I had made it past the barrier of societal acceptance. My mother was very emotionally neglectful of me especially once I got older. She had a fragile ego and relied on men to get things done while simultaneously infantilizing me. I wasn't taught much in the social ways and I stayed on my room most of the time. She would make me food and make me feels bad when I didn't want it. Weird stuff. It wasn't until recently that I became open to the idea of being neurodivergent and that's a whole can of worms in itself. Anyway, she became so financially dependent on me and guilt tripped me into keeping the house afloat, being a better brother (and by that she meant father because she went though so many partners all the while blaming men for being shitty), and whatever else. Speaking of my father, he passed when I was just a freshman in Highschool. Found out one morning from my mother and she sent me to school that same morning, fun. He was good to me. I like to think he still would have been proud of me even though he liked to call me his "number one son" despite being his only then son. Anywho, when he was getting to be sick, I was all alone in his apartment for months before my mother decided he was too far gone for me to be living alone like that. A little too late I say. I got the classic, "you're so mature for your age" crap all through that. You know what that means for someone later on. This all lead to a suppressed ideation of being infantilized due to all the pressure. I want that feeling of being saved and coddled and protected without any expectation. This left me ruined once I had left my job due to constant panic attacks. I had saved up so much money from having that expectation to provide so I decided to live on that for a while. My boyfriend and I were already talking about moving in together, but when we moved in, I just couldn't do it. I can't rationalize working. I'm already depressed as hell. I lost everyone when I transitioned. I cut off my family and my "friends" were all bigots the whole time because that's the crowd I had to be with because I was repressing my true feelings. I cope day in and day out by playing video games and doing age regression activities and even then I don't even let myself have the latter (please don't judge, it really helps, except for when it just feels like an outlet for that previously described trauma, but whatever). I have given up my financial responsibility so that I can at least not have to interact with other people besides the one person I love more than anything. I know I'm putting so much stress on him and we've talked up and down about all of this. We are mega transparent and understanding of each other. He tells me he's okay with it and I 100% believe him. I just have these nagging thoughts (especially because he's gone rn for a couple of weeks for work stuff) where I'm not good enough and I'm asking too much. I want him to help my heal my inner child, but he's so busy and he works so hard, but I hate myself too much to do it myself. Playing video games is my safe go to for dopamine. It takes no effort to load up the system and get to it. Ugh, sorry for the rant this is just so frustrating.
