2024.05.21 06:03 water_drunked Bastard wins! Day 3 of Webtoon Alphabet, what’s C?
| Inspired by CheesecakeNo3966’s Musical Alphabet Aim: Create an alphabetic list of most upvoted Webtoons • Vote for your favourite Webtoon STARTING with the letter of the day. • For every letter, I will provide up to 15 examples. Other titles are accepted as long as it follows the letter. • Only one Webtoon title per comment to ensure clarity. • After 24 hours, the SINGLE comment with the MOST upvotes will be the winner! What about titles that start with ‘The’? You take the first letter of the second word. For example, “The Greatest Estate Developer” qualifies for letter G. Listening to your requests, titles that start with ‘A’ will also take the first letter of the second word. For example, “A Good Day to be a Dog” qualifies for letter G. 💄 C? That’s the thing with you Plastics. You think everybody is in love with you when actually, everybody hates you. submitted by water_drunked to webtoons [link] [comments] |
2024.05.21 05:26 Musella_Foundation Promising Pathway Act 2.0
Promising Pathway Act 2.0
This bill is going to be introduced in Congress on this Thursday (hopefully). I need everyone’s help in getting it passed. I made a quick and easy way to send letters to your congress people. Just go to
https://virtualtrials.org/activism and fill out the form. You can edit the sample letter – explain your connection to brain tumors, or just send it as is.
The bill creates a new pathway to fda approval called conditional approval and a learning system so we can figure out the best way to use these drugs alone and in combinations.
Conditional approval means that once a drug is shown to be relatively safe and early indications that it helps, it gets approved. The bar is basically after a phase 2 trial where there is enough evidence to allow it to move forward into a phase 3 trial. Once it gets conditional approval, your doctor can prescribe it and insurance should pay for it. Then everyone who uses a treatment approved under this pathway has to participate in a registry to track the treatments they do and the outcomes. Your doctors will have access to the ongoing data so they can make informed decisions on if the drugs are worth trying or not and in which combinations.
Once enough data is collected, the drug company can ask the FDA for full approval. The bar for this graduation to full approval is the same as the bar for the regular pathway. So once these drugs get full approval, they will have more research behind them than the current treatments have, and we will already know how best to use them.
The bottom line – if this bill passed when we first introduced it, you would have easy access to many different treatments now, as well as the data to help decide which would help you the most.
If you have questions about it – ask here! I helped author the bill – along with many other organizations. We have over 100 foundations supporting the bill. To see the list, look at the one pager on the web page noted above!
To be fair – there is some opposition. If interested, I can talk about it.

2024.05.21 04:10 FillExternal6357 The truest 'tea' scent I've ever smelt
I've been on the hunt for a true tea scent. To me, that scent is the one of freshly steeped tea leaves, the whiff you get when you open a tin of high quality dried loose leaf - like pu'er or longjing.
In that sense, I was often disappointed with depictions of tea from western brands due to the presence of a strong citrus/acidic note from bergamot/lemon. The complete absence of any bitter and woody notes made it completely incongruent to my perception of 'tea'.
Anyway to cut to the chase the winner is.....
Modern Bath Art Royal Da Hong Pao Top notes: Saffron, Lavender, Spices, Kumquat Middle notes: Golden Phoenix Oolong Tea, Rose, Jasmine, Ambroxan, Iris Base notes: Vetiver, Black Tea, Cashmere Wood, Birch Wood WOW! I've smelt absolutely everything else that has been mentioned in the tea category, including everything under:
- nishane, armani, korres, elizabeth arden, jo malone, la labo, dear polly, killian (all too sour and citric)
- all the popular matcha fragrances (sunday, j-scent, un été etc.) (all too sweet)
- all of chasing scents (did not smell like tea at all to me, found some of the other notes overpowered what might've been tea)
- other chinese/taiwanese brands such as one day pu'er and oolong, and pan seven aged tea (too herbal)
But none have compared to the pure awe when I first sampled Da Hong Pao with my friend. We were both initially a little skeptical as the alcohol dried down, but immediate had a moment of 'oh shit this is tea?!'.
It's a photo-realistic dry-down of black (or red) tea leaves, given body by the ambroxan note so it doesn't come off too harsh on the nose. The rose/iris/jasmine aren't outwardly present, but lend an air of 'fragrance' that tricks you into thinking the tea itself is slightly floral. All supported by a bitter, woody base.
I personally don't get any of the top notes except for an inkling of spices? However that might just be because my nose can't detect them out of the blend.
The one critique I do have of this brand is that all of it's scents end up smelling primarily like sandalwood. The tea is still detectable but it's a woody scent first and foremost by the end of 2-3 hours.
Other scents from this brand that are particularly tea forward to me include (if anyone is interested to see a writeup of all 12 samples I ordered let me know hahaha):
- Westlake Long Jing (a mix between Elizabeth Arden Green Tea and Da Hong Pao)
- Peach Osmanthus (smells exactly like Lipton's peach iced tea)
The next step on my journey is finding a true matcha scent, I'd like to try the osmofolia matcha single note but am a bit intimidated by the reports that it smells like licorice to some...! The closest I've come to finding it is the
top note of matcha meditation, I just absolutely hate the drydown T_T.

2024.05.21 02:21 dontchallenge NYS never received my 2019 taxes, but Federal did? Efiled
Hi there,
Just received a letter from NYS, they claimed they never received my taxes for 2019. the more I looked into it, looks like NYS never received it. Called my tax guy he claims "it was processed" but his software doesn't keep of filings past 3 years. This seems highly suspect that there isn't a time sample on file when it was efiled. Looking at the draft copy he sent me and his signature forms it said auto withdrawal of funds from my bank account. On the final copy he sent me, the summary sheet said to mail a check. my normal process is to read my entire draft copy and then sign. This was our process for so many years I worked with him. We always did auto width drawl and never had an issue, so I never thought to actually check that the final copy would be any different. He even told me I am the 1% that actually reads what he preps. Big mistake that I didn't review the final copy
Calling NYS they didn't receive 2019 tax forms, nor did they receive any payments. check my bank account statements around those times. Still nada.
NYS rep told me to file asap, and when the bill is generated you can write a letter and plea your case. she was going to note something in my file then we got disconnected. She seemed like human though.
Question for you guys, do tax software keep a proof of error or of successful submission on file? is it really 3 years? I have a hard time believing that. I've used him for so many years, while hes been an excellent tax person, when it comes to owning up to mistakes, hes a bit dodgy.
Q1) besides pleaing, is there anything else I can do here? Are there any other confirmations that can be dug up? I am of course going to submit as soon as he sends me what I need to send. and write a letter point my signatures.
Q2) Whats the likely hood of NYS dropping penalties and or interest? Gut is saying yes to penalties but probably not the interest.
Big lessons learned: Going to add to my process, Keep proof of electronic filing confirmations. and proof payment went to and from my bank account every year moving forward.
Thanks.

2024.05.21 01:39 Nym_SHSN Ideas on some additions (not negative)
So I loved the first Helldivers and love this one even more. I have nothing negative to say about helldivers 2. Through all the nerfs and buffs and bugs I’ve always found a way to to adjust my play style and still have fun.
There are some things I think would make great additions to the game and maybe play in to the lore a little more.
- Earned items - as in the first game some capes were earned by doing certain things, specifically defeating bosses and such. I think it would be cool to bring back something similar. For example: Kill 1 million bugs and get a cape or maybe different ship name options or rank options. Maybe in the future if they ever bring weapon or armor shaders or ship “decorations”.
- Player profiles - kind of going of the last thing, perhaps being able to earn medals for completing certain tasks or participating in specific operations and being able to display a ribbon rack on your profile or something similar.
- Make it personal - being able to chose what planet you are from (if you talk to the engineer crewmate she says she have never been to Super Earth, indicating she is from one of the other planets.) But it could be a fun little boost for some when your home planet comes under attack. Get mail from home or school kids. Some of those letters the kids would send to the soldiers in Iraq. “Thanks for killing bad guys. I hope you don’t die. Thank you soldier.” Or maybe you get a “Dear John/Jane” letter.
- Lore, lore, lore - I’ve loved the tidbits of lore we have gotten here and there and would love to see more even if it’s not in the game itself. Most of the “extended” lore at this point is speculation and theory.
Anyways, I love the game and have nothing next to say about it. I think there could be other ways to reward players that aren’t medals or game breaking. So many of us don’t really have much use for samples or medals a couple days after the new warbond and that’s okay, doesn’t stop me from collecting samples or doing daily/major orders.
What stuff would you like to see that isn’t negative or about fixing bugs and nerfing and buffing, just fun side things?

2024.05.21 01:33 nomorelandfills PETA's guide to how to deal with shelters that refuse to take owner surrenders or stray surrenders from the public
| Not a PETA fan overall, but this may be useful to someone. Or 17 million someones. Because the shelter systems of the 6 largest cities in the US are currently following managed intake policies designed to thwart and avoid pet surrenders. And over 17 million people live in those 6 metro areas. Shelter Refusing Animals? Here's What to Do PETA https://preview.redd.it/rzurekuwxn1d1.png?width=1053&format=png&auto=webp&s=51d18f2bd808328f6eb5d153342ce01554262379 Is your local shelter refusing animals? Shelters are supposed to be safe havens for animals who have nowhere else to go, but in an increasing number of communities across the country, good Samaritans who find strays and desperate citizens who cannot keep their animals are hearing the same responses when they try to take animals to shelters: “ Sorry—we’re full,” or “We’ll have to put you on a waiting list.” Some shelters require people to make appointments, wait for months, or pay high “surrender fees,” or they drastically reduce their hours or even encourage people to leave cats on the streets, often illegally—all in a misguided attempt to keep animals out. Why? Shelters are under extreme pressure by laypeople who are opposed to euthanasia under virtually any circumstances and at any cost. They harass and vilify shelter workers who make the difficult but compassionate decision to euthanize some animals in order to keep their doors open to every animal in need. In response, an alarming number of shelters—in some cases, even taxpayer-funded ones—are choosing to operate like exclusive clubs or boutiques instead of refuges for animals in need. When shelters make it difficult for people to surrender animals, closing their doors and refusing to help, they leave animals with nowhere to turn. Many are abandoned on the streets, where they starve and die in agony of untreated diseases or injuries. Others remain in the hands of people who don’t want them and who may mistreat, neglect, or even kill them. If your local shelter has adopted this harmful practice and started implementing restrictions or turning away animals, please speak up! The basic steps are simple— documenting your experiences, gathering support, and making your case—and your involvement can make a world of difference to the animals in your community who need you the most. Read on to learn how you can help, and follow the links in each section for helpful sample statements and letters. Document Your Experience If a shelter has refused to accept an animal from you, required you to pay a surrender fee, put you on a waiting list, or instructed you to abandon an animal, carefully document everything that happened. Take photos and video, if you can, to help make your case when you share the evidence with elected officials and the media. Be sure to document the following: - The name and address of the facility
- The time and date of your call or visit
- The name of the person you spoke with
- What you were told (an exact quote, if possible)
- Whether you spoke with a supervisor and, if so, what you were told
- What happened to the animal who needed help
Gather Community Support Collecting statements and support from others who have been negatively affected by a shelter’s policies will significantly bolster your case when you meet with officials. If you know of other people who have encountered difficulties in surrendering an animal to a shelter, interview and take written statements from them, then help them take their cases to local and state elected officials as well as to the media. Meet with local veterinarians to explain the situation at the shelter. Veterinarians may be especially sympathetic—not only because they care about animals but also because in communities where shelters restrict intakes, veterinary offices and animal hospitals often become popular places for people to abandon animals. If you find veterinarians who seem understanding, ask them for a statement and encourage them to get involved by helping you lobby for open-admission policies at the shelter. Be sure to keep your meetings brief and respectful, as most veterinarians are extremely busy, and follow up with a handwritten thank-you note. Take the time to form lasting relationships with sympathetic veterinarians, as they may be able to help if you find an animal who is turned away from the shelter. If you know of local businesses where stray and homeless animals congregate, ask the owners if they would be willing to sign a statement and get involved. Their concerns may have significant influence with elected officials. Make Your Case Once you have gathered statements and evidence, request a meeting with the shelter director by writing a polite letter. Express your support of open-admission policies, including providing euthanasia services when necessary. If the director is open to revising the shelter’s policies, wonderful! Your legwork has paid off. If not, don’t worry—you have brought this important issue to his or her attention, and you can now take your case to elected officials and the media. If the director is unresponsive to your concerns, don’t be discouraged. If the shelter is taxpayer-funded, elected officials may view the situation more objectively and be more receptive (and able to initiate change). Your next step is to request a meeting with elected officials to express your concern that the shelter is not providing needed services. If the shelter is taxpayer-funded, it’s also important to attend city and/or county meetings on a regular basis to express your concerns about the shelter. Most meetings allow the public to speak briefly (usually for three to five minutes) on issues of concern, so prepare and practice a short statement that you can read if given the opportunity. Be sure to include your most compelling points, including examples of your own or others’ experiences with being turned away. Keep Speaking Up! Changing entrenched policies can take time, so be persistent and patient. There are many simple actions that you can take to keep the issue in the forefront of citizens’ and elected officials’ minds: - Write letters to the editor and comment on online news articles that demonize open-admission shelters or glorify turn-away facilities.
- Become an animal rights photographer. Go into the community and document the suffering of homeless and neglected animals (dogs hit by cars, covered with mange, or languishing on chains, cats living under sheds trying to raise a litter of kittens, etc.). Share these photos with the shelter director, elected officials, and/or the media to help demonstrate the critical need for a shelter that accepts all animals. Please also try to help any stray animals or chained dogs you see.
- Print out PETA’s flier about the dangers of turn-away facilities and hand it out to people in front of grocery stores, or leave a stack at your dentist’s office, the gym, coffee shops, etc.fundamental need for shelters to keep their doors open to all animals (we can provide free materials).
- Ask your state lawmakers to introduce legislation that would require “rescues” to be strictly regulated and facilities operating as taxpayer-funded shelters to accept all animals surrendered to them, as well as defining facilities that turn away animals as “adoption groups” rather than as “shelters.”
- If your case is especially egregious (an animal died or was significantly injured as a result of being turned away), consider filing a lawsuit against the city/county/shelter on the grounds of dereliction of duty and/or cruelty to animals. You may be able to find an attorney willing to help in your case on a pro bono (free of charge) basis simply by calling local attorneys listed online.
- Tell your friends, neighbors, and family members about the situation at your local shelter and encourage them to get involved, too!
- Host information tables at community events. Play PETA’s videos about problems associated with turn-away policies, such as “The Betrayal of ‘No-Kill’ Sheltering,” “Turned Away: A Closer Look at ‘No-Kill,’” “How Long Do Outdoor Cats Live?” and “100 Pit Bulls in 100 Seconds,” and share PETA’s materials on these topics (we can provide them for free!).
- Ask your local library to let you set up an information display about the fundamental need for shelters to keep their doors open to all animals (we can provide free materials).

2024.05.20 21:51 abitStoic Lift ban on Ukraine using US weapons to strike inside Russia
The US continues to ban Ukraine from using US weapons to strike legitimate military targets inside Russia. This despite:
- Russia launching missiles, glide bombs and suicide drones (including ones supplied by Iran) at Ukraine from inside Russia on a daily basis
- The current offensive on Kharkiv was made possible by Russian troops and equipment massing on their side of the border, knowing that the best weapons Ukraine has cannot be used to target them. Meanwhile Kharkiv, a city of over 1 million, 20 miles from the Russian border, is being bombed on a daily basis from within Russia.
- The UK has already authorized its weapons to be used for targets inside Russia
- Russia recognized Crimea, Donbas and other regions within Ukraine as parts of Russia. Ukraine has targeted them with US weapons many times.
- After half a year of delayed aid due to political infighting, the last thing the Biden administration should be doing is weakening the effectiveness of Ukraine's defenders
A Ukrainian delegation was in DC in mid-May to try to convince the Biden administration to lift the ban, but so far without success. We should reach out to our representatives and pressure them to make the Biden administration abandon this absurd "de-escalatory" policy.
Call (preferable): - Go to: https://myreps.datamade.us/#/?results_level=federal
- Enter your address. You will get five names, look for the two marked "U.S. Senator" and one "U.S. Representative"
- Click on "Contact" on the right to call
Below is a sample script that you can use while calling your Senators and Representatives. Please feel free to add any details to this, such as why this issue is important to you. You can use this script for both speaking with a staffer or leaving a voicemail.
_______
Hello! My name is [your name] and I live in [city, state]. My zip code is [zip code].
I recently heard that the Biden administration has forbidden Ukraine from using American weapons to strike legitimate military targets inside Russia. Meanwhile, Russia’s air force launches missiles and glide bombs from within Russian territory on a daily basis, including ones provided by Iran.
A Ukrainian delegation was recently in DC to urge the Biden administration to change this senseless policy. After stopping Ukraine aid for six months because of political infighting, the last thing the Biden administration should be doing is limiting the effectiveness of Ukraine’s defenders. It is absurd that Russian troops are able to gather just outside the border knowing that the best weapons Ukraine has cannot be used to target them.
How much longer are we going to insist Ukrainians fight to defend their families with one arm tied? This policy joins a long list of red lines that were eventually rejected, all for supposedly deescalating the situation while Russia rapes, murders and erases entire Ukrainian cities from the map.
I ask that you do what is in your power to pressure the Biden administration to abandon this absurd and weak policy.
Thank you.
_______
Feel free to improvise and don't be nervous. Calling may seem stressful at first, but it's really easy.
You can call weekly or even every day. Calling regularly is very effective because it tells the representative that you're organized and dedicated. Aides tally all calls, but they take particular note of people who call regularly. The biggest threat to a representative during elections are enthusiastic constituents with a grudge. Your voice matters.
Write: If you are sure you cannot call (a call is worth 20 letters but a letter is still better than nothing), you can do this:
- Go to democracy.io and enter your address to get your representatives.
- Write the letter, you can title it: Lift ban on Ukraine using US weapons to strike Russia
_______
Your support for Ukraine is a key issue for me as a constituent. I recently heard that the Biden administration has forbidden Ukraine from using American weapons to strike legitimate military targets inside Russia. Meanwhile, Russia’s air force launches missiles and glide bombs from within Russian territory on a daily basis, including ones provided to it by Iran.
A Ukrainian delegation was recently in DC to urge the Biden administration to change this senseless policy. After stopping Ukraine aid for six months because of political infighting, the last thing the Biden administration should be doing is limiting the effectiveness of Ukraine’s defenders. Prior to Russia launching its new Kharkiv offensive, Ukrainians reported having to watch for weeks as Russian troops and equipment massed near the Ukrainian border, unable to use US-supplied weapons to conduct preemptive strikes due to the Biden administration’s policy.

2024.05.20 21:50 haumea_rising Amino Acid changes in H5N1 virus from dairy farm worker
A research letter was published on May 3, 2024 titled Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A(H5N1) Virus Infection in a Dairy Farm Worker. (The picture is from the letter, look at the guy’s eyes! Yikes!!)
If you scroll all the way down to “Supplemental Material” you can download the full Supplementary Appendix, because it is in this Appendix that even more information is provided.
For example, page 6 of the Appendix mentions the mutations found in the farmworker virus, as compared to the current candidate vaccine viruses (CVVs). Note: The cross-references to other literature are my own. I maintain a timeline of events for my research into avian influenza, which includes outbreaks, past pandemics, scientific studies, basically anything avian-influenza related that I found noteworthy. I found that three of the four the mutations from were mentioned in prior studies and I thought that might be of interest here:
V210A:
-V210A mutation was in the H5N1 strain from the recent human case in Chile. See April 17, 2023 CDC Update - Human Infection with highly pathogenic avian influenza A(H5N1) virus in Chile,
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/avianflu/spotlights/2022-2023/chile-first-case-h5n1-addendum.htm (There are only three amino acid changes (i.e., L104M, L115Q, V210A) between the HA of the virus from the Chilean case and A/Astrakhan/3212/2020-like candidate vaccine, and they are not in major antigenic epitopes strongly suggesting that antibodies elicited by the [vaccine] would be expected to have good cross-reactivity. . .”).
-V210 amino acid “with binding affinity for avian a-2-3” receptors, as noted in a November 2022 study of wild waterfowl feces in South Korea. See Novel Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza A(H5N1) Clade 2.3.4.4b Virus in Wild Birds, South Korea, Emerging Infectious Diseases (July 2023),
https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/29/7/22-1893_article. So presumably, the V210A change could indicate a switch in receptor binding preference?
L115Q:
-The same Chilean human case noted above, as shown in the text, also carried the L115Q mutation. (
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/avianflu/spotlights/2022-2023/chile-first-case-h5n1-addendum.htm)
L104M:
-The same Chilean human case noted above, as shown in the text, also carried the L104M mutation. (
https://www.cdc.gov/flu/avianflu/spotlights/2022-2023/chile-first-case-h5n1-addendum.htm)
T195I: did not find in timeline.
I found it interesting that three of the mutations in the recent dairy farmworker in Texas were also found in the human case from Chile. The latter case was not a farmworker but was a man who lived near a beach where dead sea lions had been found, and so the authorities presumed some type of environmental exposure (although I don’t know if that was ever confirmed for sure). So it may be that these mutations in the HA gene are generated upon the virus entering a new host, like a human.
In the Appendix the authors also speculate about the exact manner in which these cows are becoming infected. The various scenarios they propose here clearly shows no one has any idea what is happening, but it was interesting to see it all in print.
The appendix also notes multiple times the difficulties in obtaining full information on these cattle outbreaks. There are several references to the inability to conduct an epidemiological investigation on the dairy farm where the worker was infected, and the authors note several times how a sample of the cattle on that farm was “not available” for comparison with the human strain. So there are some glaring gaps here that hopefully won’t be gaps forever. The more information we have the better.

2024.05.20 21:25 rhunter1980 Suicide and beyond. Be a team diver, help spread Democracy.
Just spent the last few hours trying to relax on Suicide and help out randoms. I have to say, I found myself carrying a few too many "teams". So I thought I'd post some helpful hints to try and you get through the missions faster and less lemmings off a cliff.
- I don't why I need to say this but SAMPLES, req slips, and medals are S H A R E D ! ! ! ! ! There is no need to kill teammates or kick them because they picked up "YOUR" samples, the freedom of Democracy is shared among all of Liberties soldiers.
1a.
IF SAMPLES ARE DROPPED AT EXTRACTION LEAVE THEM THERE!!!! If you want to pick them up and then drop them to consolidate that's fine, but there are
WAY too many ways to lose samples on the map. Deep water, falling into a hole, getting glitched into the ground or a wall, being yeeted into traitors territory, etc.
- You do NOT have to kill everything you come across, I know your trigger finger gets itchy if you don't shoot something every 30 seconds, but it's OKAY to just bypass things.
2a. If there is an opening at places of interest you can usually run in and grab what you want and get back out without having to kill everything OR if you feel there's too many enemies throw in a stratagem and add a few pot holes, then go in and get things.
- There can only be 1 active enemy reinforce at a time (unless it's a scripted event like a geological survey that summons 1 every time you drill. This means someone can be a rabid honey badger and piss off a bunch of stuff and then run it around, preferably AWAY from objectives.
- Focus on main objectives first, especially if the are multiple parts like an ICBM of Data recovery. You can effectively and quickly split into 2 man teams or have solo runners to do power stations, grab drives and then Usain Bolt it straight to the drop point while others look for samples, do secondary objectives (that are close by), and take out nests.
4a. When taking out nests / facilities you can easily destroy them with (almost) any explosive weapon. So you can run the perimeter and snipe things without having to run in. The Auto Cannon, Grenade Pistol, and Eruptor are just a few weapons that can very easily take out a heavy nest or factory from the outside saving time, grenades and the precious lives of the Helldivers.
4b. Like to take the 380 out for a stroll, then toss it in a bug nest / facility and move on to something else close by, it will usually take out the entire thing and you can easily swing back and for clean up / sample collection.
- Multiple divers can do the same objectives, such as ICBM, someone can be on the console and others can be unlocking the bunker pins. Help carry ammo to SEAF mortars. Have someone at the valves for E-710 pumps. Be ready to move the radar dish when it's done raising. And so on.
- COMMUNICATE!!! Be it through chat, mic, or pinging locations help your fellow divers know whats what. If you see nests / facilities that can be sniped then call them out. Going on a delivery run and taking an objective straight to the "end zone" then let others know. Feel like doing a mad dash into a shriekers nest to drop a hellbomb or 500k and look like a badass running out the other side as it turns to ash, let others know so they don't follow you in or throw extra stratagems that could kill you in your moment of glory.
- Keep an eye on the clock, you may get everything done and have time to look for samples but they don't do anyone any good if the clock runs out and you're halfway across the map when the Pelican lands and takes off.
7a.
IF time has run out the Pelican is AUTO CALLED IN and will ONLY wait 20 seconds once it lands. Your teammates aren't being unpatriotic so don't kick them thinking they're leaving without you, the pilot has his orders and follows them to the letter.
- Not everyone has to run the same "end game" load out and neither do you. Experiment, have fun, SEE TIP 6, talk to your fellow divers and let them know you're trying something new or experimenting, they will normally be a lot more understanding or even have suggestions to go with what you want to try.
- Try not to reinforce into a clusterduck, if possible reinforce close to where people died or if it is the previous mentioned scenario, then try to toss them away from the action so if they can and need to call in support weapons, they can do so safely.
9a. If you want reinforced into the clusterduck then let your team know so they can try and mark "big" targets to cushion your landing.
- Let others know where you drop resupplies, especially during crazy firefights, it can be easy to lose track or the drop pod especially if it gets destroyed and everything is now on the ground.
- Weapons have sub settings!!! Hold your reload button and a menu will pop up for the current weapon, usually you can select fire modes, change zoom, and turn off the damn flash light on foggy planets so your fellow Helldivers can see what the hell they're doing when your providing cover fire in their direction.
- HAVE FUN AND WORK AS A TEAM!
Yes I know some folks get a little too serious but not everyone has to be NUMBER 1 BRO DUDE WOO! Because while you had to be number in kills, others were doing objectives and making sure Democracy is getting spread and missions completed.
Feel free to add more tips and suggestions in the comments
For all my fellow spreaders of Democracy and Freedom, may the luster of your metal and moxie never dull!

2024.05.20 20:37 strawberrylipscrub Ranking & reviewing 8 Kerosene samples (yes, including Followed)
I ordered eight total samples from Lucky Scent in March and am finally posting my reviews, ranked from least to most favorite.
Long story short — this house is very photorealistic, yummy, and the scents are very evocative of memories and locations. I'm really in awe of the love and science that has gone into each of these scents and am eager to sample more of their scents soon.
8: Followed
What can I say that others haven’t already? It smells like maple syrup and pancakes. This is the last of the samples I opened but it was the first I smelled, because the package smelled like it and I had to air out my other vials for a couple days to get Followed off of them. This scent gets everywhere and lingers no matter where I put it, or how many layers of packaging I try to hide it in. If you open it, it WILL be on your skin for a good while, and it will also stick to the surfaces you place it on for a not insignificant amount of time. Followed makes me think gourmands should not perform this well. This is a massively impressive feat of perfumery, and it smells good (if very straightforward), but I may end up tossing this sample or gifting it to someone I wish psychological damage on.
7: Santalum Silvers
My husband loves cucumber scents so I got this one to try it out. Unfortunately for me it’s just way too citrusy for my tastes — jampacked with lemon, orange, grapefruit and bergamot. Now, just because it's not my favorite doesn't mean I wouldn't recommend it. The citrus is done VERY well, like someone is sticking a freshly sliced grapefruit in my face, so I’d recommend a sample if that intrigues you. It was just too much for me and to my nose, almost leaned toward cat urine. I guess I have a limit with citrus scents. Not for me but would smell great on a particularly zesty person.
6: Follow
Smells bang-on like coffee. It doesn’t seem very complex or interesting to me outside of that, but worth getting your nose on it if you want to smell like espresso.
5: Unknown Pleasures
Oh, I wanted to like this one a lot more! I love London fogs but this was a tad too lemon-forward for me. It kind of smells like a fresh spiced cookie, but more like walking past a cafe/bakery — warm and inviting but also just a lot going on without really landing on any one thing, which just isn’t doing it for me as much as I’d hoped. This is worth a try if you want to try something that smells like a spiced baked good and aren’t afraid of a little extra citrus hanging around that.
4: Summer of 84
Out of the citrus scents I received, I really liked this one! Very grapefruit-forward and reminds me that I don’t hate citrus scents at all, haha. Really photorealistic and feels like being in an orchard, which are abundant around where I live and makes me feel at home. Also reminds me of an ice-cold can of Squirt soda cracked open in the heat. This would make a great summer scent, for sure.
3: Sweetly Known
Immediately upon application this reminded me of those cheap pink cotton candy body sprays I loved when I was a kid and always sprayed too much of. Then a few moments later, the smoke started to come in and add a beautiful complex twist to an otherwise very sugary, confectionary and even juvenile scent. This smells like a Sofia Coppola movie. Very into it and will hopefully never forget what it felt like to smell this for the first time. I may buy a full bottle in the future.
2: Blackmail
I see people ask for goth recommendations here often and think this would be a great option for the dark, vampy and sensually inclined. This is something special: dark, fruity, smoky, sexy, alluring, androgynous. It reminds me a bit of Lady Gaga’s Fame which is a very welcome comparison to me, and a scent I've missed for a long time. Scorpio-coded for sure. Anyone who puts this on would be a hot girl in my eyes! I would buy a full bottle.
1: Winter of 99
This was my surprise winner of the lot. Instantly enamored with it. By The Fireplace but for the gourmand lovers; smoky, sweet and definitely evocative of holidays spent by the fire. Oddly enough, this also smells like pure bubblegum to me, which I’m very into and didn’t know I wanted from a perfume. I would love to smell like this everyday and plan to make this my first full bottle purchase from Kerosene. Pure liquid joy for me!
Also, I want to give a shoutout to Lucky Scent's customer service! They shipped VERY quickly but USPS misdelivered the package. Lucky Scent was very quick to reship my order to a new address, which I got with no issues and at the speed at which I anticipated getting the order in the first place. I ordered from them again for Mother's Day and once again, no complaints and speedy delivery, so highly recommend them!

2024.05.20 19:24 magoserelepe HOW TO COUNTER THROW LOOPS - An Introduction to the Concept and Basic Defense Mindset
Here is a quick, public guide to help you begin your study to counter throw-loops, based on math and frame data. Since it is public, feel free to compliment, share your specific techs or resources. By the SuperCombo wiki, the definition of a "Throw-Loop" is: "Many forward throws allow for "Throw Loops'' in the corner where the character lands a throw, then walks or dashes up to the opponent with frame advantage, creating another throw mixup." Since it is a mix-up, you have to commit to two different defensive/punish options: One for the throw, and a different one for the strike. But how to effectively choose? So we're taking a look at the Fighting Game Glossary definition for the three main terms that are crucial for this guide: Reactable, Read, Guess. Reactable: An attack that has slow enough startup that a human can react to it and correctly defend (either by blocking or intercepting with their own attack). Read: A sub-class of a guess where your decision is not wholly random, but instead informed by some knowledge about the game or your opponent's tendencies. Guess: Taking an action when you aren't sure if that action will have a good outcome. Taking that off the bat, the first thing we have to look for is if it is reactable: According to SuperCombo, "Throws are universally 5f startup and 3f active" and "The input window for a Throw Escape lasts until the 9th frame of being thrown". The frame data of Street Fighter 6 reveals the game speed is 60 frames per second, thus one frame is equal to 16 milliseconds in real life. Considering a throw has a 5 frame startup + 9f window for tech, that leaves us with a 14 frames/233 milliseconds window for reacting the throw and do the input for tech. The reported World Record in "arealme" for a human brain reaction speed test is of 112 ms, which is about 7 frames, however there is a catch: The test itself consists of reacting to just one single outcome of one red button turning green, which means the world record holder who did the test focused on a single visual stimuli with 100% anticipation of the outcome, also with zero influences of distractors/mental stack/external factors. Since this may indicate that the 14f window is not punishable for humans due to the influence of pre-anticipation of another outcome in our reaction time, our next option is a Read. So what do we look for? For the Throw-Loop sample for this guide, there is no shimmy/bait technique involved to improve the rate of success in the offense in order to make the most basic throw loop ever, only meaty strike and throw, and I will not consider options that wins both against a throw or a meaty, as OD Reversal is not available to all the members of the cast, and super is not available at round-start. I want the throw-loop as raw and 50/50 as possible. I'm using Ken, to take on the most standard scenario possible: Round 1 start Cr.LK - DR - S.MP - Heavy Tatsu - this combo starts with a very common Ken opening, and is the least damaging combo that can put you in the far end of the corner from the round start position, thus putting you in the most basic throw loop setup available. So considering you took the least damaging combo and finds yourself in the corner at round 1, if your "looper" only uses the most basic meaty or throw in your face, you have the 50% chance of guessing right with the options provided. Sounds pretty OK, right? But there is one small detail. Not only the fact that every successful throw takes 12% of the standard cast HP, every successful basic meaty conversion has roughly two-throws of damage or more, greatly reducing your number of interactions. Meaty CR. MP - Heavy Shoryuken conversion does 2100 damage (no counter). The stacks are that you always have a 25% chance of losing two interactions in a row due to pure luck - the best possible outcome for your loss is 2400 damage (two no-counter throws), which is more than a raw level 1 super (2000 damage). After that, you may lose 3.300 to a throw and a meaty conversion, which is more than a level 2 super (2700 damage). Your worst outcome, in only two interactions, is 4200 damage, which is more than a level 3 Super (4000 damage), but keep in mind: All of these examples are considering the damage from the described combo with no counter buff, so values may change if your opponent opts for another routes bigger than two links. So how do we read to prevent that? First things first, at the versus screen be already prepared to look for the throw loop. In Ken’s case, the corner-carry is a conversion of something, so be prepared to whiff punish and be aware of his range, since any hit-confirm can be converted by any player to a corner-carry mid-screen, or a corner-carry anywhere in the screen at the hands of an experienced looper. Secondly, one of the most fundamental rules of reading: Recognize clues and prospect your opponent’s habits. In Punk's neutral guide video, he talks about a handful of ways to anticipate your opponent's actions for whiff punish based on his movement, his habits and the range of his character's attacks. You do that in neutral to prevent the mix-up, so be aware of the spacing of every one of your opponent's normals, and when does he uses them. But when we’re going to dive into actual defense once you are during the mix-up - there is no variation in movement or timing to recognize if it will be a fast meaty or throw. Your first option here is a Guess, but you can only start to read your opponent after the second interaction of the loop, since that’s where you get the first idea of his pattern. If you manage to guess right two times in a row, your opponent usually won’t resort to using the loop carelessly again, but even if you guess wrong on two interactions, remember that 24% of your HP (two standard throws, your best outcome) is a low price to pay for opening the doors of knowledge. So if you guess wrong two times in a row, you can already start to think what you will do next to keep with your gameplan: You have the precise time of your wake-up animation (164f or 2,624 seconds) to analyze the new pattern, your meter and carefully choose what you think is the best course of action. Conditioning your mind is key here, and be prepared to decipher what your opponent will do based on the smallest sample of interactions possible - Since if you read wrong and get hit by four meatys in two rounds, that may be an entire healthbar in four conversions of 2500 damage (may be possible without spending any super). If you’re not confident with your reading in this situation, you can lastly resort to the first steps of being in a throw loop - the Guess - which is self-explanatory. But now, you found your opponent’s pattern and guessed right, what’s next? If you guessed with an attack/super, chances are you did some damage and can position yourself, however you must remain vigilant: One hit-confirm from your opponent may get you in that situation again. This is special if you guess right with a throw-tech: Now the distance is back to neutral, however you’re still in the corner and there is no damage/meter penalty for the looper. You earned one shot to change sides/start pressure, use it wisely. Be aware that I only covered a very basic and introductory situation of a crude and non-optimal throw loop - there are many dangerous variations in meaty conversion damage, and techniques like shimmy that compromises even further your important chances of escaping. I’m not qualified enough to go deep in psychologically predicting your opponent’s course of actions, so I will recommend literature that will provide you with intermediate/advanced techniques to help you prepare yourself to both read and guess a throw loop. For reading a throw-loop: The Art of War - Sun Tzu; The Book of Five Rings - Miyamoto Musashi; Intelligence in War: Knowledge of the Enemy from Napoleon to Al Qaeda - John Keegan. For guessing a throw-loop: The Winner’s Guide to Casino Gambling - Edwin Silberstang; The Biggest Buff - Maria Konnikova; Gambling for Life - Harry Findlay. Stay safe and good luck on your journey!
