6yo daughter throwing fits over everything

2024.05.21 16:25 alligator_996 6yo daughter throwing fits over everything

Hey Reddit, parent on the edge here seeking advice. My daughter (6) can not handle any form of conflict and has a very short temper. Yesterday was the worst it has ever gotten. I told her we couldn’t take her baby doll stroller to Walmart with us and explained why. I told her we could go on a walk afterwards and take her baby stroller if she wanted to. That led to her storming to her room, screaming at the top of her lungs, throwing multiple squishamallows at me, kicking and hitting me. I tried the best I could to tap into knowledge I’ve heard on diffusing angry kids such as asking off-topic questions (what color is the sky today, can you tell me what 2+2 is cause I forgot, etc). I tried getting her to do some deep breathing with me, I tried giving her some space which led her to keep coming back to me but still throwing things and hitting, I tried sitting with her on her bed and talking to her, I asked if she needed a hug, etc.
After a while of doing my best to try gentle and comforting approaches, I lost my cool after she threw a pillow at her baby brother (less than 1yo). I asked her if she was trying to hurt him and she said yes.
After about 45 minutes of her acting this way, she calmed down and after talking with her she stated that she didn’t know why she did what she did, said she never wanted to scare or hurt her brother, she apologized, she said her brain just quits working and she can’t help how she acted.
This is just one instance of her acting this way, it’s gotten close to this bad once or twice before. However there are many other instances where she loses her cool over such small issues. (I know small issues to us as adults can be huge issues in the eyes of children). (Her bun on her sandwich got soggy, she wanted to take a bath instead of a shower but didn’t ask me, she simply had a meltdown over the assumption that she had no choice but to shower. She didn’t want to review her sight words, etc. she seems to have a hard time expressing her feelings or simply saying what’s bothering her in a healthy way. It’s like she shuts down.
I don’t know where to go from here. I try so hard to be an emotionally connected and present parent. We spend quality time together without her brother often so I don’t think it’s jealousy or lack of connection. I always hear her side of reasoning when she offers it up. After these tantrums she’ll sit and have an amazing conversation with me over what’s going on in her head, why what she did was not okay, what we can do next time she starts to feel upset or angry, etc. I don’t know if this info is relevant or not but her bio dad is very argumentative and also has a short temper. Not sure if those are genetic things to be passed down regardless of how she’s raised?
Any help or advice is appreciated 🫶🏼

2024.05.21 16:15 sydity AITA for screaming at my sister to stop?

I f18 has been struggling my whole life as the black sheep of the family. Nothing I ever do is acceptable for my parents except when I "bring glory" to the family image/name. I have a older sister, the golden child. To sum up my family dynamic, I'm always blamed for everything from things going wrong to arguments and fights that happen no matter who started it. Even if I was defending myself I get blamed and hit for it. I have even tried not doing anything and just told my parents what my sister did to me but, I'll still get the punishment. There are moments where I will have an outburst where I confront my family about the unfair treatment towards me like siding each other in an argument no matter how wrong they are or interrupting/cutting me mid sentence even for the most trivial things. The reason why I'm here today is to ask aita for yelling at my sister. This happened because my mum wanted to go out (at night) and said it was going to be a night drive around so being in pyjamas didn't matter. I said OK and just went to my parents room to wait for everyone else to get ready. Me and my sister had a small play fight on their bed and my dad yelled at me saying I was "joking too hard". At that point I was fed up of them keep claiming I always "play/joke too hard" even tho sometimes I was the 1 getting hurt and I was just defending myself from their blows/pinches/kicks, so I asked him, what does he mean by me playing too hard. I wanted to understand what do I always do that deemed as joke too hard. He couldnt answer and asked me to ask my mum and sister if I always "joke too hard". So I pressed on and when he started getting angry I switch and asked my mum and sister. They both too couldn't answer me and whilst arguing my mum said something like next time just ignore the provocations. At that point I got fed up and said fine if I always joked too hard, I am not going to go out tonight and went to my bedroom. Then not long, in comes my sister (we share a room, I'm on the top bunk). At that point I was in bed ready to sleep as I was already tired, and she started disturbing me by using my dolls and pillows to hit me, telling me to get up. I ignored her provocations like my mum said but she was relentless. So I started screaming at her to stop as she was hitting more and more harder each time. Then my parents came storming in with canes and hit me hard multiple times. Saying I was screaming to let the whole neighbourhood know how disgraceful and barbaric we are. My dad even got a baseball bat I think (I couldn't see with tears) but my mum and sister stopped him. No one let me explain that I didn't do anything and was just trying to make it stop. So aitah here? Please offer some advice as I'm hiding in the toilet crying while typing this
Also a small edit "abuse" is a light term used as in Asian families, this is considered teaching the kids

2024.05.21 16:12 Legitimate-Impact688 House Decor

Hey yall!
In the last two years, my chapter & alum have raised close to 40k for renovations for our house (small chapter and small house). Our school is being a pain in helping us get renovations actually organized, so we are hoping to spruce up the house before fall semester.
Things to note: We live in a 16-room house. There are four rooms each in what we call a cube, and there are 2 cubes per level. So 8 on the top, 8 on the bottom. They are equal shapes and the cubes are pretty much set up identical. The cubes are painted different colors, such as teal, yellow, pink/purple, and light blue.
If we cannot get our big reno done, I was hoping to be able to put up some nice new decor in each of the cubes, like maybe a LED sign and wall prints and new throw pillows for the loveseats. Does anyone else have recommendations? I am having trouble thinking of stuff that will coordinate but not make the rooms totally identical but make them look nice still for recruitment when we have PNMs in our house.
Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks in advance yall.
Edit: I think it is also important to note we can only make changes to our cube areas. We have two large common areas but the decopaint there is determined by our Nationals and we recieve new based on a rotation. Really hoping we will be able to get stuff painted this summer!

Replace ball joint boot or control arm?
Should I just replace the boot or the whole control arm? The boot is torn on a 1 year old ball joint and there is no play yet. I want to buy the the SKF control arm, but a 4 Euro boot vs 115 Euros is a big difference.
I am still looking for the right boot on this Delphi control arm / ball joint. The taper is 17.5mm and the OEM boot doesn't have the top clip, which I have on this one.
What would you do?

Temu Reviews 2024: Is Temu legit or a scam?
Temu Reviews 2024. Temu is an online marketplace that sells a wide variety of products, including clothing, electronics, and beauty supplies. The prices on Temu are often significantly lower than those of other retailers, with items such as $5 AirPods lookalikes and a $10 Skims slip dress dupe. However, some people have expressed concerns about the legitimacy of Temu and its products, as the prices can seem too good to be true.
To address these concerns, Reviewed, a product review website, ordered a handful of items from Temu and tested them in their labs. They found that while some of the products were of decent quality for the price, others were not. For example, a $3 milk frother received five stars from over 23,000 Temu reviews, but Reviewed found that it did not perform as well as more expensive models.
In terms of the shopping experience, Reviewed noted that the homepage of Temu can be overwhelming, as it is filled with a large number of products and lacks any recognizable brands. They also found that some items that were marked as available became out of stock as soon as they tried to order them, and that Temu cancelled all of their orders when they tried to ship to four separate addresses due to "unusual activity" on their card.

Is Temu legit or a scam?

Overall, Reviewed concluded that Temu is a legitimate website, but that the quality of its products can vary. They recommend doing research on specific items before purchasing and being aware of the potential for issues with ordering and shipping.

Why is Temu so cheap?

Overall, Temu is able to offer low prices by connecting buyers with a large network of sellers, using technology to optimize its operations, and offering a unique selection of products. However, it is important to note that the quality of the products on Temu can vary, and that some items may not be as high quality as those available from other retailers.

2024.05.21 13:57 maximusaemilius A cozy day with a tall chitin-armored alien girlfriend.

She got up in the dark, with only the dim ambience of soft blue lighting to accompany her. She stretched all four arms, her two legs, and rolled her neck. It struck her as mildly interesting in that moment, how something so small could connect them to humans, The thought was fleeting as she took another step forward to kneel down on the floor. There, in a little alcove in the wall, she had set a volcanic rock from Anin, dried moss, and other paraphernalia from her home world. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath resting her hands together.
Praise and respect to the spirits of Anin. Praise the fathers and mothers of war gone to their rest below the moss and the earth. Praise their spirits that watch from the sky and peer through the ether down upon us.
She continued the slow mantra in the style of Prayer learned from Naktan and pulled her concentration to her core, ignoring anything and everything around her. A deep state of meditation overtook her. She would never have done this if she thought there were any chance that she was in danger, but below she knew Earth glowed like a sphere before their orbiting ship. There was no worry of invasion.
She thought she heard something at one point, but chose to ignore it as she continued her mantra.
Eventually, and after an unknown amount of minutes, she stood and turned slowly to find-
She stopped, and crossed her arms over her chest.
"What are you doing?”
Adam burrowed his way further down into her blankets, nuzzling his head up against her pillow,
"So warm, and comfy!"
She tried not to smile,
"You dumbass."
He pulled the blankets tighter around himself,
"You know, I did come here to talk to you, but now I actually am really comfortable, so come back in two hours."
"I- This is MY home!"
He closed his eyes and pretended to snore loudly.
She rolled her eyes as she watched him theatrically pretend to sleep. She looked around mildly for a moment, before picking up another pillow and glancing at the door. She casually walked over, dropped the pillow on his head and then held it down as if she intended to smother him.
”Die human scum!”
That got him up and moving.
Before long the two of them were grappling for the upper hand, him trying to put her in a choke hold, and her using her lower arms to pinch him.
He yelped,
"Ouch! Pinching is illegal!”
"Sissy."
He clamped his legs around her lower arms, pinning them in place.
She struggled for a minute and then went limp.
She could feel his smug smile,
"I win, I beat the saint of Anin. Everyone bow at my feet."
"You say that, but if this were a real fight, since you’re a human male, you're the one with a self-destruct button."
"Self-destruct button...?"
"Meaning if this were a real fight, I would have punched you in the balls."
"Yaoooutch… Oh god… Please don't."
Finally, he let her go, leaving the two of them to lay on her bed, sheets scattered on the floor around them, and her pillows in disarray. Adam put his hands behind his head and sighed.
She glanced over at him,
"I don't suppose you came to just hang out. Here on Admiral-ly business?"
He groaned, pulling one of her pillows over his face,
"Please smother me for real this time."
She leaned up on one of her elbows,
"Why?"
"I don't wanna be an adult anymore!"
She tilted her head to the side, watching in amusement as he attempted to throw a childlike tantrum, but only really had the energy to kick his feet once,
"It's boring and lame and they won’t let me wear heelies to important meetings... also children don't have to pay taxes."
She laughed, pulling the pillow from his face,
"Adam you are many things, but 'adult' is not one of them."
He grinned slightly,
"True enough."
He sighed again and rested his head back against the pillows,
"I just want to get back to what we are supposed to be doing, exploring the universe and making cool alien friends."
He threw up his hands in frustration,
"But suddenly I find myself embroiled in stupid annoying politics that I don't understand, being used by people who are, let’s face it, WAY smarter than me, constantly finding myself getting manipulated."
She huffed,
"They aren't smarter than you Adam, they're just manipulative, and you aren't."
He sighed,
"Fair enough."
Then he looked at her, bright green eyes reflecting the soft ambient blue light,
"I just, I miss this, I miss us, I miss hanging out and doing stupid shit, and all of the things I could do when I wasn't so important and this operation was smaller."
She smiled rather sadly reaching one hand over for his, lacing the four of her fingers through the five of his,
"Well someone has to do the hard things, who better than you?”
He glanced over at her, raising an eyebrow,
"Or you, miss saint?”
She rolled her eyes again,
"Can't seem to get you off of that. I'm still the same person I used to be."
"But with power."
She elbowed him gently and he grinned,
"But really, I am proud and impressed and... Let's be honest super super smug that 'I' know you personally."
"I know, I am pretty terrific."
The two of them laughed for a minute before settling down again. He glanced over to her little shrine on the wall,
"What were you doing just then?"
She looked up at the ceiling, following the lines of metal and rivets with her eyes,
"Praying to the spirits of Anin."
Embarrassed, he shifted,
"I didn't know you were... Well I didn't think you were all that religious?"
She shrugged,
"Don't feel bad, it's sort of a new thing. Back before all this, it was sort of just stories to me. Like I believed it because that was what everyone believed, but I didn't really accept it, or feel it the way I do now. After everything with my mother, it was hard to feel connected to something I felt I wasn't a part of... But then after visiting my mother, after becoming a saint for a religion I never really followed... Well, it started to make more sense. It feels real now in a way that it never did."
She turned to look at him, finding him watching her, the UV blue stripes in his skin glowing blue.
"I believe in the spirits of Anin more than I ever have."
He smiled at her and squeezed her hand,
"I'm glad to hear it."
They lapsed into silence for a long moment, staring up at the ceiling before, inevitably he broke it,
"So this makes you like, space Moses right?”
She frowned and turned to look at him,
"What is a “Moses”?"
He grinned,
"A guy from one of the Earth Religions. You know, guy follows god's directions to lead his people away from slavery, climbs a mountain, receives the word of god, comes down to give it to the people, that sort of thing."
Sunny tilted her head slightly to the side,
"Are you religious?"
He paused, frowning,
"I... well I... don't really know. My family has been some flavor of Christian for a long time."
"Christian?"
"Uh yeah, the general idea is that there is one all-powerful deity who created everything. He has rules and laws that you are supposed to follow, the general tenants of this specific religion mostly boil down to: love everyone and don't be a dick, which humans are notoriously bad at. You sin you go to hell, a very bad place after you die, and if you are a good person you go to heaven. Problem is everyone is a sinner and breaks the rules, so really no one was going to get into heaven."
"That sounds bleak..."
"Well, that's where the other stuff comes in. Basically, this all-powerful deity sent down his son in human form to live a perfect life, so when he was martyred he took on the sins of all of humanity and paid for them in the greatest act of mercy to open the gate for the rest of us into heaven."
Sunny shifted as he tilted to the side to lay in the crook of her arms,
"Of course that is just one religion among tons on earth, we aren't really as cohesive in our beliefs as Drev are... As for me... I'm not really sure."
She tilted her head to the side, cheek resting against his hair,
"After seeing space, I become more and more convinced of some... Thing that created everything, but beyond that it's sort of a tossup."
She ran one hand through his hair, coarse but still soft somehow.
"You know my name comes from that religion?”
She turned her head to look at him,
"Oh, really?”
"Adam was the first man."
"What do you mean!?”
Adam shrugged,
"He was supposedly the first man that god created, from the dust of the earth... I think?"
She gave him a sidelong glance,
"Look, and you get to be the first idiot in space."
He snorted and poked her in the ribs.
"There were PLENTY of idiots in space before me, believe you me."
"Mmm I don't know, you are pretty dumb."
He laughed, grabbing a pillow and hitting her with it. She rolled over so she was lying on top of him and then went limp.
He struggled,
"Get your big ass off me."
"Oh no, I have been attacked by a sudden acute case of the “my spine doesn't work anymore”-disease."
"If you don't move, you'll suddenly find yourself with a case of “fist in your face”-disease."
She laughed and rolled off him, making sure the hard parts of her carapace were sticking down for maximum discomfort.
He grunted.
They returned to lying down next to each other in the half darkness. Sunny reached over and turned on some quiet music in the background as the two of them sat and talked, and laughed.
"I can't wait to get back to deep space."
He closed his eyes and hummed softly at the thought,
"Just the crew and the darkness and nothing ahead of us but an endless frontier."
Surprisingly, she found the thought to be more than a little comforting, and closed her eyes thinking about the vast reaches of blackness and the endless spinning galaxies.
"And while we are out, we can drop Conn into a pulsar."
He snorted,
“Why? Well first of for scientific reasons! If a marshmallow causes a nuclear blast, I wonder what dropping Conn would do… but at least he’d be dead.”
"That billowy bastard would survive and you know it."
She huffed,
"Still though, if I have to hear one more smug lecture how he has a child with you, I'm gonna wring his scrawny neck."
He grinned teeth flashing blue in the light,
"Is someone... Jealous?"
Sunny laughed, almost tipping him off the bed and onto the floor with her mirth,
"Yes Adam, I am totally jealous, really I am, ‘kay?. I mean who wouldn't want to have a child with YOU, big dumb, dork. Really the perfect place to put my superior genes."
"Superior genes, says someone who can't reach the top shelf."
She kicked him, foot clanging off his prosthetic,
"I am a foot taller than you."
He placed his hand next to his ear,
"What was that, I can't hear you over how short you are."
Sunny shook her head,
"At least I have binocular vision and both my knees."
"So we are gonna ignore that that binocular vision is due to a prosthetic now after the whole “your mom” incident? And also, veeery important: weird neck nostrils, don't forget about those!"
"Oh yes, so I can’t house them on my face like you and your bigass nose."
"Low blow, low blow."
"There are... Lower things... I could make fun of."
He snorted,
"Can't make fun of it if you've never seen it. You on the other hand, walking around in the nude..."
"You're welcome. Who wouldn't love…"
She gestured to herself,
"This."
"Mmm yeah... chitin, very sexy."
"I am a gift to the universe, and should be appreciated by everyone."
He brushed a hand through his hair,
"Well I find that real gifts are gift wrapped, so jot that down."
"Oh yeah, like a prank gift when you put something lame in a box for something cool."
He frowned at her,
"You wound me. My feelings are so very very hurt. I might even cry."
"I drink human tears."
"That… that's really gross.'
She laughed and then they lapsed into silence. She could hear him breathing quietly next to her in the darkness, his chest rising and falling under the ambient blue light. She looked across the room to where her saint armor was hanging in its climate-controlled case illuminated to a pearly sheen.
"Adam?"
"Yeah?”
"You know I'm just kidding about calling you dumb right?"
"Yeah I know."
"I'm proud of what you've been doing."
Adam turned to look at her rather incredulous,
"Me, of what? I haven't been doing shit."
"So, we are just going to ignore you overthrowing a maniacal politician while simultaneously piloting a 2,000 year old spacecraft?"
"That was more Conn and Eris than it was me."
"It was your idea."
"Let’s not forget Admiral Kelly."
Sunny pulled him closer,
"I am sorry, I will not be accepting anything other than you acknowledging that you did a good job."
"Screw you!”
"You'd like that wouldn't you?”
He sighed,
"You've been talking to Ramirez WAY too much."
She was only slightly smug as she rested her head back against the pillow,
"I really should get up and train..."
"We should yeah..."
Neither of them moved.
"Alternatively, we could just... Lay here... All day and do... nothing."
She looked up at the ceiling for a long moment and pretended to be in deep contemplation before…
"Well it's official, you have convinced me. You and your silver tongue."
"I am a master negotiator."
He shifted position putting one arm behind his head,
"Think about it, by this time tomorrow we will be back to space exploring and doing what we should have been doing all along. I can't wait."
"That makes two of us."

FYI, this is a story COLLECTION. Lots of standalones technically. So, you can basically start to read at any chapter, no pre-read of the other chapters needed technically (other than maybe getting better descriptions of characters than: Adam Vir=human, Krill=antlike alien, Sunny=tall alien, Conn=telepathic alien). The numbers are (mostly) only for organization of posts and continuity.

Thanks for reading! As you saw in the title, this is a cross posted story written by starrfallknightrise and I'll just upload some of it here for you guys, if you are interested and want to read ahead, the original story-collection can be found on tumblr or wattpad to read for free. (link above this text under "OC:..." ) It is the Empyrean Iris story collection by starfallknightrise. Also, if you want to know more about the story collection i made an intro post about it, so feel free to check that out to see what other great characters to look forward to! (Link also above this text). I have no affiliations to the author; just thought I’d share some of the great stories you might enjoy a lot!
Obviously, I have Charlie’s permission to post this and for the people already knowing the stories, or starting to read them: If you follow the link and check out the story you will see some differences. I made some small (non-artistic) changes, mainly correcting writing mistakes, pronoun correction and some small additional info here and there of things which were not thought of/forgotten or even were added/changed in later stories (like the “USS->UNSC” prefix of Stabby, Chalar=/->Sunny etc). As well as some "biggemajor" changes in descriptions and info’s for the same stringency/continuity reason. That can be explained by the story collection being, well a story collection at the start with many standalone-stories just starring the same people, but later on it gets more to a stringent storyline with backstories and throwbacks. (For example Adam Vir has some HEAVY scars over his body, following his bones, which were not really talked about up till half the collection, where it says it covers his whole body and you find out via backflash that he had them the whole time and how he got them, they just weren't mentioned before. However, I would think a doctor would at least see these scars before that, especially since he gets analyzed, treated and goes shirtless/in T-shirts in some stories). So TLDR: Writing and some descriptions are slightly changed, with full OK from the author, since he himself did not bother to correct these things before.

2024.05.21 13:05 cazaroindia1 Sofa: Your Perfect Comfort Zone

https://preview.redd.it/d6qpf2exhr1d1.jpg?width=5000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5b6b873a2fee68c351dcfa27382b55844ec0deb5
In the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, finding a place to unwind and relax is essential. For many of us, that sanctuary is our sofa — a perfect blend of comfort, style, and functionality. A sofa is more than just a piece of furniture; it’s a place where we create memories, relax after a long day, entertain guests, and even enjoy a good book or movie. Let’s explore why a sofa is your perfect comfort zone and how to choose one that suits your lifestyle and taste.

The Heart of the Home

The living room is often considered the heart of the home, and the sofa is its centerpiece. It’s the first thing people notice when they walk in and the place where families gather. A well-chosen sofa can set the tone for the entire room, providing both aesthetic appeal and practical use.
When selecting a sofa, it’s important to consider the size of your living space. A large sectional may be perfect for spacious rooms, offering ample seating for family and friends. For smaller spaces, a loveseat or a compact two-seater can provide comfort without overwhelming the room. The key is to find a balance that complements your space while providing enough seating for your needs.

Comfort Meets Style

A sofa should be a haven of comfort, where you can sink into its cushions and feel your stress melt away. The level of comfort can vary greatly depending on the design and materials used. Sofas with deep seats and plush cushions are ideal for lounging, while firmer sofas with shallower seats are better for those who prefer to sit upright.
Material choice is also crucial. Leather sofas exude a timeless elegance and are easy to clean, making them suitable for households with children or pets. Fabric sofas, on the other hand, offer a wider range of colors and patterns, allowing for greater customization to match your interior decor. Modern fabrics are often treated to resist stains and wear, ensuring that your sofa looks great for years to come.

Versatility and Functionality

Today’s sofas are designed with versatility in mind, catering to a variety of lifestyles and needs. Sofa beds, for instance, are perfect for those who frequently host overnight guests. They provide a comfortable seating area by day and easily convert into a bed by night.
Modular sofas offer unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to rearrange sections to suit different occasions. Whether you’re hosting a large gathering or enjoying a quiet evening alone, a modular sofa can be configured to provide the perfect seating arrangement.
Storage sofas are another innovative solution, featuring hidden compartments for storing blankets, pillows, or other living room essentials. This functionality is especially valuable in smaller homes or apartments where space is at a premium.

Personalizing Your Comfort Zone

Your sofa should reflect your personal style and taste. With endless options available, you can customize every aspect of your sofa, from the fabric and color to the shape and size. Accent pillows and throws can add pops of color and texture, making your sofa a true reflection of your personality.
Consider the overall decor of your living room when choosing a sofa. If your style is modern and minimalist, opt for sleek lines and neutral colors. For a more traditional look, consider sofas with rolled arms, tufted cushions, and rich, warm fabrics.

Investing in Quality

A sofa is a significant investment, and choosing a high-quality piece ensures longevity and durability. Look for sofas with sturdy frames made from hardwoods like oak or maple. Quality construction will prevent sagging and wear over time, maintaining the sofa’s comfort and appearance.
Pay attention to the cushions as well. High-density foam offers support and retains its shape, while down-filled cushions provide a luxurious, plush feel. Many sofas combine these materials, offering a balance of comfort and durability.

Conclusion

A sofa is more than just a place to sit; it’s your perfect comfort zone, a place where you can relax, entertain, and enjoy life’s moments. Whether you prefer a modern sectional, a classic leather sofa, or a cozy loveseat, the right sofa will enhance your living space and provide years of comfort and joy. Take the time to find a sofa that meets your needs and reflects your style, and you’ll create a living room that’s truly the heart of your home.

2024.05.21 12:21 tfrisinger 5 days in Paris trip report

Flying home as I write this.
First don’t sweat the weather in May. We had what looked like 5 days of rain but we didn’t get a drop of rain until the last day. Got cloudy and looked like it might rain here and there but for the most part it was very pleasant weather. Don’t sweat it but pack some options.
Cash/credit. Almost didn’t need a euro. Paid with Apple Pay everywhere - taxis, metro, sites, restaurants, etc. one exception was the artists near sacre couer only took cash. Never needed or asked for a PIN.
Sites. Did all the major sites. Each and everyone now has heavy duty security, metal detectors and even body scanners. This makes it a very slow process to get in. Plan for that.
Arc de triumph was particularly painful when we were there. Eiffel Tower is also very painful due to the queueing at the elevators. Took us 2 hours minimum to get to top and back down. Louvre did a mad dash for the Mona Lisa at 9am and that worked out well with pretty small crowds. Then got to relax and enjoy the rest of the museum.
Funny - by the Eiffel tour you can go see the Olympic countdown clock. Ironically it was showing 101 days to the games when it was only supposed to be 67. Got a picture. It even made the news. Dummies. Makes me question how prepared they are for the Olympics. Hopefully they don’t think they have an extra month of prep time :)
Olympics prep - didn’t impact us in the least. Nothing we wanted to do was blocked by it.
Safety - no issues. Felt perfectly safe late at night, on the metro, Ubers, etc. only saw one clipboard lady at the Eiffel Tower and just walked away.
Trip highlight - Le Calife dinner cruise was amazing. I’ve been to Paris several times before but never did this due to seeming like a tourist trap - which I think most are. This one gets it right. It’s high end food and service on a boat. It was awesome - not cheap though. We were very happy with our front of boat seats. Great way to end the trip. Was from 8pm to almost 11pm.
St. Chapelle was an amazing first for me. Pretty incredible and worth the body scan to get in.
Ubemetro - took the metro to/from sacre couer just to let my son have the experience - it’s very easy to buy tickets and use. Otherwise mostly walked or did Ubers which were quick and plentiful. Official taxi from Cdg to Paris was easy to find - the trip into the city however was very painful and took close to 1.5 hours with the morning traffic.
Food - too much to report. We didn’t have a bad meal anywhere and refreshing to have good service regardless of price.
Recommend an after dinner stroll to a gelato shop every night.
CDG - I was really sweating coming home today with some kind of strike going on which mostly impacted the trains but also some airport staff. Showed up 3+ hours early to CDG but breezed thru security and passport check in under 30mins. Give yourself time but the horror stories seem overblown.
Edit:
Language - almost everyone we came across spoke English to a good degree. We tried our best with French but usually switched to English when they heard our attempts :). I do think a merci here and there is appreciated. We did have one taxi driver with very limited English but we made it work.
Holidays - many French holidays in May. We were there for Pentecost and whit Monday - both seems to be a non event for us and nothing we came across was closed due to this. So hard to tell which holidays are impactful or not for tourists, but this wasn’t one of them.

🔗Indigo Dog House with Microban - Enhanced Pet Comfort by Coleman

https://preview.redd.it/p2mm4oyr8r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=796d3d7fcc5abfdca3bc92cdbd59cfa5bd449f80
The Petmate Indigo Dog House has been my faithful companion, keeping my furry friend comfortable and cozy in all weather conditions. The offset extended doorway ensures that wind and rain are kept at bay, allowing my pet to enjoy the comfort of their personal space without getting damp or chilled.
The structural foam provides excellent insulation, keeping my pet cool during summer days and warm during the colder months. The roof vent helps maintain proper airflow, allowing for a pleasant environment inside the dog house. The use of Microban is an added bonus, as it actively works against the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew, ensuring a fresh and clean living area for my pet.
Installation was a breeze, with no tools required, and the dog house is specifically designed for medium-sized pets. Although the dimensions are perfect for my pet, I found it interesting that larger dogs can be accommodated in the larger versions of the dog house. My pet loved his new home and took to it immediately, feeling secure and protected from the elements.
However, there have been some minor issues with rain leakage. Although the design of the dog house is meant to keep rain out, I have found that on occasion, water still finds its way inside the dog house. This can lead to damp and unpleasant conditions for my pet and requires extra attention to keep the dog house area dry.
Overall, the Petmate Indigo Dog House is a reliable and comfortable choice for your medium-sized pet. With its insulated design and sturdy construction, your furry friend will be well-protected in all weather conditions. Although it has faced some minor issues, these do not detract from the overall quality and functionality of the dog house.

🔗Quick Setup Coleman Juniper Lake 4-Person Instant Dome Tent with Annex

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Coleman Juniper Lake 4-Person Instant Dome Tent, and I must say, it was a mixed experience. On the one hand, setting up this tent was a breeze, thanks to the pre-attached poles that allowed me to pitch it in about a minute. The ventilated annex, complete with a rainfly, was also a great feature for keeping my gear and dog dry and comfortable.
However, there were a few issues I encountered during my time using the tent. Firstly, the poles had a sliding mechanism that broke the very first time I used it. This resulted in a much heavier and bulkier tent, which was quite inconvenient when packing it up. Additionally, the rainfly, while well-ventilated, did restrict some visibility through the windows, making it slightly less than ideal for enjoying the outdoors.
Despite these drawbacks, the Coleman Juniper Lake 4-Person Instant Dome Tent still proved to be a functional and capable option for my camping needs. With a few improvements, such as detachable poles and a more durable rainfly, this tent could be an even better choice for those looking for a hassle-free camping experience.

🔗Coleman Instant 4-Person Cabin Tent: Durable and Easy Setup

Recently, I had the opportunity to try out the Coleman Instant 4-Person Cabin Tent in tan/black. This instant tent features an 8' x 7' floor that's spacious enough for a queen airbed, allowing for plenty of room to move around comfortably. Its taped seams and welded floor seam offer strength and durability, while mesh windows improve air circulation. Furthermore, it meets CPAI-84 flammability requirements for safety and has a fully-taped WeatherTec system that withstands harsh outdoor elements, keeping all your items dry.
When it came to setting up the tent, the color-coded poles and easy-to-follow instructions made the process a breeze. I was impressed by the tent's ability to withstand various weather conditions, thanks to its durable materials and strong frame. The design also includes ample airflow through large windows and a ground vent, reducing condensation and keeping the interior fresh and cool.
However, there were a couple of downsides, as well. Firstly, the d-style door was a bit hard to open and close, and the zipper required some effort to work properly. Additionally, the tent didn't seem as sturdy as expected in high winds, with the fabric flapping around a bit.
Overall, the Coleman Instant 4-Person Cabin Tent was a decent choice for a camping trip. Its ease of setup, spacious interior, and weather resistance made it a comfortable shelter. However, some improvements, such as better zippers and more durable materials, could have made this tent even more impressive.

🔗Coleman WeatherMaster Tent: 10-Person, Patented Hinged Door, Eureka 17' x 9'

Recently, I had the chance to try out the Coleman WeatherMaster 10-Person Tent on my camping trip. The tent quickly became a game-changer for me and my large family. When it comes to space, this tent is truly remarkable – it comfortably accommodates ten people, giving us all enough room to spread out and enjoy our camping experience.
The WeatherMaster's separate rooms and dividers provided us with much-needed privacy and organization, making our trip even more enjoyable. Setting up the tent was also a breeze, thanks to the color-coded poles and clear instructions. The tent held up well in various weather conditions, keeping us dry and secure throughout.
One of the standout features was the ventilation system. Despite having a large group, the tent remained well-ventilated, preventing condensation and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere. The built-in electrical access port was also a convenient feature that allowed us to stay connected and charge our devices.
However, there were a few drawbacks to the tent. The setup process was a bit slower than I expected, which could be an issue for those looking for a quick set up. Additionally, the rain fly was prone to leaking, which meant I needed to use an extra tarp for added protection. Despite these minor issues, the Coleman WeatherMaster Tent proved to be a valuable addition to our camping trips, delivering on its promises and providing a comfortable and spacious shelter for our family.

🔗Coleman 8-Person Evanston Screened Tent with Screen Room

https://preview.redd.it/qf20nfjt8r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b559388bec08c0ab85b074e97413fe5444122990
I recently tested out the Coleman Evanston 8-Person Tent with Screen Room for a camping trip, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up! The snag-free pole sleeves and Insta-Clip attachments made it a breeze to assemble in less than 15 minutes. As someone who loves the great outdoors, there's nothing more bothersome than having bugs invade your tent. However, the fully screened porch and the four large windows provided maximum ventilation while keeping the bugs at bay.
The tent's 72-inch center height offered plenty of room for my sleeping bag, and the 1442 square feet of floor space was perfect for storing all my gear. The weather-resistant features, such as the taped seams and rainfly, ensured that I remained dry during a sudden rain shower.
The screened-in room was an excellent addition, offering extra space for ventilation or storage. However, one downside was the rainfly, which sometimes made it a bit darker inside the tent even on sunny days. Additionally, the tent was on the heavier side, making it a bit more challenging to transport longer distances.
Overall, the Coleman Evanston 8-Person Tent with Screen Room was a great choice for my camping trip. It provided a spacious and comfortable environment, while also offering a bug-free experience. Despite a few minor drawbacks, I believe this tent would be an excellent option for anyone planning a camping adventure.

The Coleman OneSource 6-Person Camping Dome Tent is the perfect companion for outdoor adventures with friends and family. Setting up the tent in my backyard under the sun took only 10 minutes, and the fan feature made sure I stayed cool during that hot summer day. The LED lighting system brightened up the tent, making it an enjoyable place to hang out.
The tent's OneSource Li-Ion rechargeable battery powered not only the integrated fan and LED lighting system but also charged my smartphone, making it a versatile and eco-friendly choice. The included rainfly and weather-resistant features added peace of mind in case of sudden showers.
Although the tent could fit more people, it was cozy enough for my family of four. The ample storage pouches provided a convenient place to store our essentials, while the netting around the tent allowed for enhanced ventilation to keep things fresh inside.
Overall, the Coleman OneSource 6-Person Camping Dome Tent offered a comfortable and enjoyable outdoor experience for my family, and the easy setup, battery-powered features, and weather-resistance made it a winner in our book.

🔗Weatherproof 6-Person Dome Tent with Full-Fly Vestibule from Cabela's

I recently had the chance to try out the Coleman Skydome Camping Tent at our family camping trip. This tent was quick and easy to set up, taking less than 5 minutes. One feature that stood out to me was the full-fly vestibule, providing extra weather protection and additional storage space. The nearly vertical walls also gave us an extra 20% more headroom compared to a traditional dome tent, making it comfortable for everyone inside.
However, there were a few downsides as well. The front door zipper design seemed problematic at times, causing issues when trying to access the tent. Additionally, there was a small hole that appeared in the floor after our first use, though we're unsure if it was already there or not. The tent was also quite heavy at 20 lbs, making it difficult to transport.
Overall, the Coleman Skydome Camping Tent had its ups and downs. The ease of setup and extra space were definitely pluses, but the zipper design and the tent's weight were drawbacks.

Buyer's Guide

Choosing the right Coleman dog tent involves considering several important factors to ensure your dog is comfortable and safe during outdoor adventures. In this guide, we'll discuss key features, considerations, and general advice to help you make the best decision.

Size

https://preview.redd.it/uggk8uqu8r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a604930064318488498d71013d47369692069e82
Selecting the right tent size is crucial for comfortable and spacious accommodation for both your dog and essential items. Consider the size of your dog and the equipment you want to bring along. Additionally, the tent's interior structure, like loops or hooks, influences how well your dog can move around and maneuver within the space.

Weather Resistance

Coleman dog tents are famously known for their robust weather resistance. Factors affecting this include UV protection, waterproof materials, and ventilation. UV protection prevents sun damage while waterproof materials ensure your dog will stay dry even in wet conditions. Proper ventilation is essential, as it allows for air circulation to keep your dog cool and comfortable throughout their stay.

Ease of Set-up and Portability

A Coleman dog tent should be user-friendly and simple to set up. Look for models with pre-attached poles and guylines for easy setup and takedown. Additionally, portability is essential for camping trips, so consider the tent's overall weight and compact design for easy transportation.

Additional Features

Some Coleman dog tents offer additional features such as mesh windows for increased airflow, detachable rainfly for flexible weather protection, and sewn-in floors to prevent leakage and provide extra insulation.

Consider Your Dog's Needs

Ultimately, the most important aspect of selecting a Coleman dog tent is understanding your dog's individual needs and preferences. Consider factors like mobility, comfort, and safety, and choose a tent based on what's best for your furry friend.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I have been natural for 4 years and I feel like I’m never doing this right. I have mostly virgin hair, I am somewhere inbetween 3c 4a 4b,mostly 4a/b. im not sure if my curl patters are naturally different or if somethings just weird about my scalp now from years 15-20 years of relaxer. I have done the water porosity test and it said that I was low porosity, but in my opinion my hair is really damaged, I feel like it’s pretty prone to breaking and I can easily pull off ends. It also feel dry and the middle of my hair grows at a slower rate, or breaks off than the sides, it’s also thinner than the top and I’m only 24. My strands don’t feel smooth and often have knots near the bottom. I have a satin pillow case, I can’t sleep with bonnets on. I usually wear my hair out during the day, no protective styles. I wear wigs for my night job. I don’t have much of a hair routine because one unsure of the products I use, but I do castor oil massage my scalp every could weeks, and do leave in conditioner along with washing my hair every 10 days or so. And co washing once a week What should I be doing/using? Do you or any hair influencers you know have this same hair type?
