If you have a family or regularly haul stuff/people around, there is no better choice than the minivan. When car reviewers fly out to review cars, they don't rent SUVs, they rent minivans.
Space: more space with the minivan. You can stow all those back seats.
Comfort: never been in an SUV I thought was more comfortable than a minivan, especially the backseat. The middle captain chairs in the minivan are priceless.
Doors: enjoy letting your kids ding other people's cars when they push open those heavy doors. Minivan? Automatic sliding doors. I've seen people ask for SUVs with minivan features (like sliding doors) and everyone told the guy literally nothing like that exists. Well, except the new Toyota Century but good luck getting your hands on it. It is extremely difficult going back to regular doors after owning sliding doors.
Off roading: easy win for the SUV. I get it: everyone is taking their SUVs into rugged, tough terrain and--wait what? Most SUVs will never seen off road action? A lot of SUVs aren't even good at off roading? I guess if you're driving your kids through Baja every morning to school.
AWD: you can get a minivan in AWD if you really, really need it. But you're better off with winter tires (or maybe really good all seasons)
Looks: okay, another win for SUVs... depending on the SUV. Land Cruisers and Broncos look great. Other than that, your average SUV on the road is over designed and looks like anything else.
Got kids? Driving grandparents around? Pets? Gear? Plywood? Road trip? Light towing? Minivan.
Serious off roading? Heavy towing? Completely insecure of yourself and buying a car based on looks? SUV I guess.

Today I will be briefly explaining the practice of Gematria. Gematria comes from ancient Jewish mysticism. It is the practice of combining the letter with the number, with the word. It is said this is how God created the world.

So I rented an Airbnb in Chile for a month and was very excited, as I've wanted to visit the country for a long time. The first day there wasn't bad either, the host was very nice and communicative, and even left me a card for the metro system here.
However, it was definitely a little cold once the sun set yesterday, and today it is frankly freezing. It's 45 degrees and raining outside and yet it feels colder inside. And to be clear: I like the cold, I wore a T shirt outside yesterday when it was 55 degrees and loved it. If it's too cold for me, it's COLD.
I noted this to the host and he did get me a second space heater (there isn't heat/AC in the apartment, just fans or space heaters), and this has helped a bit but it's still pretty cold. He at first mentioned that I could use the electric stove as a heat, but I will not do that, that is totally not safe. I'm going to give it a couple days and if it doesn't get better ask the host again if there's anything he can do, but honestly there are other minor issues with the place (the coffee table is totally unstable, the TV remote doesn't work, and it seems like the place is not well insulated to noise) that also make me inclined to try and leave. I should note that the reservation is listed as non-refundable, however I booked it in part because he said to be in writing that he has a flexible policy and it after a couple days I didn't like it I could get a refund.
So here are my questions:
1) is being too cold enough of a reason to leave? would I need to prove this in some way? 2) at what point should I reach out to AirBnB about this? 3) does the fact that he said to be in writing that he had a flexible refund policy counter the nonrefundable policy listed on the listing? 4) I booked this partially with a coupon, is that just gone? like is the max refund I could get the part that wasn't the coupon? cause that alone isn't enough to find a good new place from the looks of it
Anyways, I'd appreciate any advice or insight you have here. I really do want this to get better, cause this is a trip I've been dreaming about for years. The fact it's marred by this is kinda miserable, I'm having to wear winter boots in my own apartment in order to be warm!
