2024.05.21 15:49 lykwydchykyn WTS: Handmade pedals and practice amps, experimental designs.

Hi guys. Making another shot at this. Cut prices on a few things because I'm just running out of room for storing my new builds. Order multiples and I may cut you a deal.
This post is mostly for people interested in buying, but I love a trade! If you're interested in trading see my latest post in /letstradepedals. I post there every other week, usually on Tuesday. I got non-DIY stuff in the trade post, too.
What I got for sale is hand-built stuff that I made, mostly relatively unique or heavily tweaked designs built on vero or point to point. Many are housed in upcycled tins, a few in hammond boxes. I've also got small practice amps built inside whatevers that you can crank up and enjoy at low volumes. They all run on standard 9v pedal power.
PRICES DON'T INCLUDE SHIPPING -- I ship USPS priority using pirateship.com, so expect shipping to be between $5 and $15 depending on how close you are to Tennessee. Would prefer to not deal with international shipping, but if you want it bad enough to pay for it, I'm game.
I accept Paypal or Venmo.
MOBILE USERS: There are 4 columns in the table below: Name, Price, Links, and Notes. If you don't see all 4, scroll over or ask for more info.
Fuzzes
Name Price Links Notes
Bazz Me Fuss You #1 $90 PIC DEMO A bazz-fussified perversion of the Escobedo push-me-pull-you, featuring controls for octave and volume. This is the first unit I've built using my own custom PCB. Housed in a painted 125B with top jacks.
Space Fuzz $80 PIC DEMO This is a Hollis crash sync fuzz that I souped up with an LFO to modulate the filtesync frequency. Really wild flangery/phasey type gated fuzz sound. At the right settings you can get some octave-down effects as well. Housed in a ~3.5 inch square game tin reinforced with recycled plastic. Pretty pleased with this build.
SwirlFuzz $75 PIC DEMO Modulated octave fuzz prototype. It's an octave fuzz, but you can switch on an LFO to modulate the octave amount. Controls for Rate, Depth, Gain, and Volume, plus switches for waveshape and mode (Normal/Octave/Modulated). In a circular tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Big Green Fuzz for Attractive Bass Players $75 PIC Demo Like my bazz-me-fuss-you circuit, but with a big muff tone stack, a clean blend, and optional clippers for more compression. Housed in a big round tin reinforced with recycled plastic and designed specifically for attractive bass players. Unattractive ones may not really gel with this.
Creature from the planet Chyowngg $65 PIC Demo Prototype of a unique fuzz I've been developing that I call the Chyowngg fuzz. It's a 2-stage octaver that gives a bright synthy tone with a distinctive envelope (hence the name). You can toggle each stage from octave to non-octave mode for a variety of interesting timbres. Also has a tone control, but the tone control is before the octave stages so it results in interesting behaviors depending on the switch settings. It's in a tin meant to be painted like an alien, though some say it looks more like a triceratops.
Baller Fuzz $60 PIC DEMO Another Bazz-Me-Fuss-You build with an added BMP-style tone control. In a slightly beaten-up heart-shaped basketball tin. Y'all ready for this?
Wiff Spwinkles on Top $45 PIC Demo This point-to-point fuzz lives in the same neighborhood as the Harmonic Percolator, but has a few differences. I altered the way the gain knob works, and added a switch to toggle bass cut. It's housed in an ice-creamity welly tin.
Dumbo's Bazzrite Fussrite $40 PIC Demo A bazz-fussified mosrite fuzzrite circuit I cobbled together in point-to-point wiring style. Housed in a little Dumbo puzzle tin with GLITTER! Controls are for balance (kind of tone-cum-gain) and volume.
Drives, Distortions, and Boosts
Name Price Links Notes
Bronze Drive $85 PIC Demo This is a point-to-point, transistor based overdrive I designed based loosely on the Davisson Easy Drive. Good for low-gain crunchy tones and plenty of output volume on tap if you want it for a boost. Tone circuit is like a BMP stack but with a mid hump instead of a mid cut. Housed in a painted 125B with top jacks.
Copper ZenerMorph Drive $65 PIC Demo This is an experiment in zener diode clipping. Nice crispy drive that gets beefier as you turn up the gain, lots of good edge-of-breakup tones to be had. Housed in a decorated tin reinforced with some plastic.
GOOST $65 PIC A simple JFET boost vaguely based on the Runoffgroove Fetzer valve. Switch toggles bass cut for a treble-boosting sound. Point-to-point build housed in a small tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
B is for Beast $55 PIC DEMO This fun little drive/boost consists of two cascading MOSFET gain stages with optional clipping in between. It goes from clean and loud to massive wall-of-gain distortion nicely. Controls for gain, clipping, and volume. In a small heart-shaped tin about 4in by 4in.
Shining Hope Drive $40 PIC Demo Differential mirroring drive, gives a kind of overdriven-mixer-channel distortion. Controls for gain, tone, and volume. Housed in a star-shaped Christmas tin.
Green Sparkler Boost $35 PIC Just an Escobedo Duende JFET boost built point-to-point in a sparkly little round tin. Gives a little gain and a bit of warmth to the tone.
Non-Dirt
Name Tier Links Notes
Gift of Chykka Wakka $65 PIC DEMO First build of an all-transistor envelope filter I designed. Built point-to-point style and housed in a little giftbox tin reinforced with recycled plastic. Controls for Q and Sweep, switch toggles envelope smoothing.
Vortex of Funk $65 PIC DEMO Second build of the Chykka-Wakka circuit, this one features attack, Q, and range controls. Built point-to-point and housed in a painted tin.
BZZZ BOOP BEEP $50 PIC DEMO A basic square wave oscillator on a momentary switch. Can go from bzzz to boop to beep with a sweep of the big knob. Also has tone and volume controls, and a 3-way switch for different decay amounts. Use it to simulate a spring door stopper or dying cow. Or bleep your foul-mouthed frontman. Or mess with the sound guy. Or send Morse code to the bar. I dunno. Housed in a painted tin reinforced with recycled plastic.
Little Amps
Name Price Links Description
Ample iMank $65 PICS DEMO This is a Runoffgroove Ruby Amplifier built into this old multimedia speaker enclosure designed to look like an old iMac. Glows blue when you turn it on. It runs from a standard 9v pedal power. It's not terribly loud, nor terribly clean, but if you dig the classic mac vibe it might be fun. Controls for gain and volume, and a power switch on the back.
Nosy Amp $75 PICS DEMO Another solid-state amp based on the Ruby amplifier, housed in a repurposed bookshelf speaker. This one actually has pretty decent volume, even on 9V (can run on 12V as well for more), and can stay clean while getting loud enough for a quiet jam with friends.
Fleur-de-Lis Amp $90 PICS DEMO A tiny bookshelf speaker turned into a practice amp. This one features a class D power amp for lovely cleans, and a custom designed discrete preamp that gets punchy & crunchy when cranked. Runs on 9V but pretty loud nonetheless.
That's all for now. I just keep building and building, though, so there'll be more.

2024.05.21 15:48 stepgothic I need a good server

Hello to all Minecrafters, and condolences to the rest. Six months ago I dreamed of some game that combined everything best from Rust, Minecraft and civilization. And I found something similar called Eco (I actually recently learned about this game). Recommend me some server that has everything from this game: economy, mandatory interaction between players, some common goal to complete the game (level up science, build a rocket and go to the moon), unification into states, conflicts, wars and the like. Preferably with a separate client and modpack installed.

2024.05.21 15:48 CreamyLasagna Looking for an English vocabulary building book

Hi! I have been studying English language for a long time, but according to an online assessment I have taken some time ago, my vocabulary size is that of a fifteen years old native speaker. It is probably one of the reasons why I am not as fluent as I should have been.
I am searching for an English vocabulary building book, preferably a workbook. Is there any suggestion?

Elden ring is the first fromsoft game I’ve ever played and I don’t know what to do or how to really play the game. I’ve been watching YouTubers (mainly jacksepticeye) play Elden ring and have been trying to figure out a build. However I spent nearly 14 hours in just limgrave not being able to get a lot of damage out of a bleed build. I need help and don’t truly understand a lot of aspects of the game so can anyone help explain some stuff to me?

2024.05.21 15:47 3milyie How can someone be so cruel

For context me and my ex had a long distance relationship. We dated for 6 months before he said hey Im having suicidal thoughts (this was actual not true come to learn about it yesterday the truth. He just didnt want to tell me he didnt want to be in a relationship not just with me but with ANYONE!) and another thing he had Problems and I mean MAJOR problems. He got hella jealous (I have an online group of just 4 guys and me and another girl - he HATED this group), he is insecure, Had trust Issues, is violent, and a mental abuser. I should also say that he had trust issues cause he got cheated on MULTIPLE times with his ex gfs. Anyway back to what happened this month :)! Its juicy 🥰💖
This was told to me a month ago against my will: My ex just made me HELLA sick to my stomach, He got fired from his job cause he cussed out a co worker, he got arrested for breaking a dudes car window WITH HIS HANDS?!? He was in jail for 24 hours. And the worst thing: He got a girl pregnant last month (cause apparently being 25 makes you stupid LMAO) Poor girl and her body :( But when he said that info my heart just sank. Just a fucking dumbass omg we did it raw!! WONDER WHERE THAT WOULD GET YOU A UNPLANNED BABY DUDE. OH also he made death jokes (he was being serious tho) about ghetting a motercyle and wanting to get hity by a truck or go 150 mph and die LIKE HELLO DROP ALL THAT ON ME AND MORE WHY DONT CHAT.
This happened and was said yesterday:
My ex just went off on me for like 10 mins saying how annoying I was to him and everyone in the server and how I was the cause of getting attacked cause of it. The funny thing is that he added me back a month ago to catch up, apologize, and to be friends Imao. He ended up blocking me on everything?? LMAOOOO. He kept saying how annoying I was, to kms, no one cares about me, and on and on. Then proceeded to ban me from his server and then starting saying rude stuff in DMs to "hurt" my feelings. He also said he only dated me cause of my personality, not my looks and how ugly I was like wtf??? OKAY???

2024.05.21 15:46 robertgoldenowl Updates on Backlinks and SEO Tools

I’ve noticed a surge of questions revolving around the value of backlinks following Google’s latest updates. Some people claim their backlink effectiveness has been cut in half, others still swear by them, and some SEOs believe that content is now king and backlinks matter less.
Keep in mind that these are all anecdotes from SEOs who may be focused on their own projects and lack the full picture. It’s tough to get a definitive answer, even from SEO influencers. When asked during an AMA, they often start with “It depends” Not super helpful, right?
That’s why I set my sights on big-wig SEO platforms instead. These platforms have tons of data to make better decisions on. Here’s what they have been up to:
  1. SEMrush is focused on improving its Backlink Analytics’ Authority Score. They claim their new score is more accurate than ever because it prioritizes organic traffic and better identifies link spam. They’re making it harder to game the system, representing a step forward in accurately assessing website authority.
  2. SE Ranking’s major update in May prioritized backlinks. SE Ranking touted fresher data, new backlink datasets, and faster detection speeds. Their emphasis on backlinks suggests that backlink age (new vs. old) might play a bigger role than previously thought. If SE Ranking is doubling down on this, maybe we should pay more attention to how fresh our backlinks are.
  3. Ahrefs added a Backlinks Calendar to their Site Explorer, indicating that they believe the timing of building a backlink profile is key. This tool lets you track when backlinks drop off and monitor your profile daily. Ahrefs likely thinks that keeping your backlink data fresh could make a bigger difference to your site's authority than increasing the number of backlinks.
The actions of these major SEO companies suggest that backlinks are still crucial and therefore worth investing in. This is a stark reminder to keep backlinks in our SEO strategy mix.
To everyone who says backlinks are dead and don’t matter anymore in 2024, I’m not completely on board with that. SEO still appears to be a mix of approximately 33% content, 33% backlinks, 33% tech stuff, and 1% luck.
P.S. I have a question specifically for people who work at agencies. How are you handling backlinks in 2024? Are they still a big part of your workflow?

2024.05.21 15:46 Crannast A few ideas for post NCR war Reformists

Heyo, long time player of ERB here, first of all I want to thank for the amazing work rebooting this mod!
I first played ERB 2019ish, before the compliance update. This meant that after the NCR was gone the Reformists had a lot of troubles getting any manpower at all from NCR territories without coring them. This made the Legion fight very challenging in a fun way, where you had to really ration the manpower until you could core some states, and this meant that until one year or so into the fight the Legion really outnumbered you, almost 10 to 1.
In the current version I find the Legion fight to be either very hard or a complete steamroll. If they attack you too early it's god-tier hard, if they declare after 3 years with the event its too easy. I have a few ideas to get back that original experience maybe:
  1. Penalize low legitimacy in manpower: compliance is too easy and gives ~50k manpower too quickly. If low legitimacy means you can't get almost any non-core manpower, this would mean the same scramble to build grids or get legitimacy up as before.
  2. Prevent Legion justifying early: this happens almost every game now, Legion never waits for the 'Democracy is non negotiable' event and instead justifies and declares at most one year in. This means that the counter-legion part of the focus tree becomes meaningless, and the difficulty is off the charts at the beginning.
  3. Washington brotherhood declares too early: WB declares almost right after NCR, and usually is not a big threat by themselves at that point. I found them much more impactful when they build up a bit more and allied and attacked the same time as Legion.

2024.05.21 15:45 Dizzy-Squirrel9610 Still here :)

I'm the lady who thought she got a bat bite in the backyard while throwing my daughter a birthday party. Cant remember the account name I used to post here at that time. I thought I'd hop on here because today I got a sore throat and my immediate thought was "It's probably rabies."
That's how OCD works. This thought will plague me until my sore throat goes away. My brain will do mental gymnastics to try to calm itself and it won't work. Now, I could make it a million times worst by checking to make sure I can still swallow every few minutes, checking my temperature, investigating the site of my non existent bite to see if it tingles or is itchy, googling for reassurance, asking for reassurance on this sub etc etc. But then the OCD would only stay longer. And after eight months I say f*** that.
I''d rather put up with these scary thoughts for a day or two. Just sit with them and feel afraid, than fuel the OCD. OCD is a monster and when you perform those compulsions you just feed it and it grows bigger and scarier.
If you are on this sub today seeking reassurance, try to stop yourself. You know it won't help you because nobody can tell you with 100% certainty that you don't have rabies. That's what you are asking for and no one can give that to you.
Try to immerse yourself in an activity. Mine was slow cooking. I cooked complicated recipes, my family ate like royalty. I had a silly little dance that I did when the thoughts got so bad I thought I was gonna explode.
I had setbacks. Stupid rabies OCD kept flaring up, so I would repeat the process. I even started having nerve issues in my foot which was the site of the "bat bite." Those were tough days. My Dad had a brain injury, my daughter was in a car accident and I dealt with both. I was there with my family, showed up for my kids. You can't do that when you're online compulsively asking, searching, pleading for certainty that can't be had.
Pick a hobby. Immerse yourself. Notice the thoughts. This fear will lessen. It will be more than tolerable. Some days you will even laugh at yourself and the thoughts. The whole thing will become a joke even while it's still sometimes scary. You can do it.

2024.05.21 15:44 No-Contribution5904 Boston U vs Syracuse

Most ppl will be like Boston duhh but before i put a financial aid appeal for Syracuse (Boston gave me more aid) I want to know which will be a better fit.
Major: International Relations but might switch to double majoring in Political Science and Econ
Both schools have a school dedicated to these majors. Syracuse has the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and Boston has the Pardee School of Global Studies
Syracuse Pros:
School Spirit with all the sports and stuff
Traditional Campus (very beautiful)
Love the school colors ( ik not relevant lol)
Study Abroad Program is amazing
Cons:
Location is ehhh
Transfers live on south campus which is like 2 miles from the main campus and I would like to live campus because it’s my first year plus i’m not tryna take shuffle
Boston Pros:
Location is amazing for connection opportunities
Easy to engage in research
Everything is a good walking distance
Transfers can live on campus and have guaranteed housing
Cons:
Not a traditional campus because the campus is more like buildings spread across the campus
The rumors of grade deflation is scaring me
A very big school with many people might make me feel anxious cause i’m transferring from a much smaller school
Definitely more competitive
Rarely any sport games

2024.05.21 15:44 hybridxmonk Dowry everywhere, except Gujarat

Born and bought up in a Gujju house, I hadn't heard a single conversation around Dowry (/dahej) among my friends and family. And I am social guy with a fairly large number of people in my circle.
Sometime ago, I was talking about long term relationships & arranged marriages in my office circle, I was shocked to discover that dowry system is common in most states. Most of my colleagues deeply disagreed with the system but it still exists in their families.
Once I started going down the rabit hole, I found that it is common in most states across India except Gujarat. I checked with multiple people from each state - Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, UP, Uttarakhand, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Delhi, Karnataka and the list goes on.
To double check, I called friends from different cities, ethnic communities and generations across Gujarat. Zero dowry transactions. At worst, it might be an edge case in some niche community. Gender ratio of Gujarat is not great but it is similar to most states and not on extreme end. I was also surprised that during my entire existence none of my friends from other states told me about dowry system.
And I am not talking about giving expensive gifts to the other side. For eg. in Gujarat 'both' families give gifts like jewellery, car, clothes, etc. to bride (not groom). Bride receives exponentially more gifts than groom. Yes, there is lot of show off. But the cost of these gifts is not even tracked let alone be predetermined.
I am talking about business deal type of transactions, where the groom's family has decided the minimum amount (price?) beforehand and decision to marry or not depends on bride's family agreeing to giving this amount. As if they are paying fees for a daycare for their daughter or they are buying the groom. And marriages are broken, people are hurt, terrible things happen if the bride's family is not able to fulfill their promised amount.
I had seen news reports around these events but I assumed them to be edge cases. Why is this still a majority case across the country? What am I missing?
The irony that Gujarat's 'business' minded people are out of this game!

I mean come the fuck on. It’s massively MULTIPLAYER. And yet all the parties and alliances have dead chats. Why do you people join groups to never talk or socialize. It’s a multiplayer game not single player yes you can play alone. If you wanna do that then stay alone. Why come into groups to be some shy guy? I never understood that. What do we play online games for if we don’t involve ourselves in it.

2024.05.21 15:43 PetrZitskiy Inside the Life of a Casino Dealer

Inside the Life of a Casino Dealer
[ Inside the Life of a Casino Dealer ]
The life of a casino dealer is a fascinating blend of skill, interaction, and the high-energy environment of the gaming floor. From the hustle and bustle of dealing cards and managing bets to the unique challenges and rewards of the job, being a casino dealer offers a behind-the-scenes look at the world of gambling. Here’s an in-depth look at what it’s like to live the life of a casino dealer.

1. Training and Skills

Becoming a Dealer To become a casino dealer, one must undergo rigorous training. Most aspiring dealers attend specialized dealer schools where they learn the rules and procedures of various games such as blackjack, roulette, poker, and baccarat. Training also covers the technical aspects of the job, including handling chips, shuffling cards, and managing bets.
Key Skills
  • Mathematics: Dealers must quickly and accurately calculate payouts and bets.
  • Manual Dexterity: Handling cards and chips smoothly and efficiently is crucial.
  • Customer Service: Interacting with players, maintaining a friendly demeanor, and handling disputes require excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Dealers must be vigilant to ensure game integrity and spot any irregularities or cheating attempts.

2. A Typical Day

Pre-Shift Preparation Dealers typically start their day by arriving at the casino well before their shift. They sign in, receive their table assignments, and often attend brief meetings where they are updated on any changes or special events. Personal grooming and adhering to the casino's dress code are essential, as appearance and professionalism are highly valued.
On the Gaming Floor Once on the floor, dealers take their positions at their assigned tables. They greet players, explain the rules if necessary, and begin the game. A dealer’s shift usually lasts eight hours, with breaks every hour or two to rest and refresh.
Dealing and Interacting Throughout their shift, dealers:
  • Deal Cards and Spin Wheels: For card games, dealers shuffle and deal cards; for roulette, they spin the wheel and manage bets.
  • Manage Bets and Payouts: Keeping track of bets and ensuring accurate payouts is a primary responsibility.
  • Engage with Players: Dealers must be personable, keeping the atmosphere light and enjoyable while maintaining control of the game.
  • Monitor the Game: They must stay alert to ensure all players follow the rules and that no cheating occurs.

3. Challenges

Long Hours and Odd Shifts Dealers often work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The casino never sleeps, so dealers must adapt to varying schedules, which can be physically and mentally demanding.
Dealing with Difficult Customers Not all players are gracious winners or losers. Dealers must handle difficult customers with patience and professionalism, de-escalating situations and maintaining a positive gaming environment.
Job Stress The fast-paced nature of the job, coupled with the need for constant vigilance and accuracy, can be stressful. Dealers must manage this stress to perform effectively and maintain a friendly demeanor.

4. Rewards

Compensation Dealers typically earn a base hourly wage, which can vary depending on the casino and location. However, a significant portion of their income comes from tips. Skilled dealers who engage well with players can earn substantial tips, sometimes surpassing their base salary.
Career Growth There are opportunities for advancement within the casino industry. Experienced dealers can move up to supervisory roles, become pit bosses, or even transition into casino management.
Unique Work Environment Working as a dealer offers a dynamic and vibrant environment. The casino floor is lively and exciting, providing a unique workplace experience that is far from monotonous.

5. Personal Stories

Dealer Tales Many dealers have interesting stories to share about their experiences on the floor. From dealing to high-rollers and celebrities to witnessing incredible winning streaks or dealing with quirky players, these stories add a personal touch to the life of a dealer.
Building Relationships Dealers often build rapport with regular players, creating a sense of community and familiarity within the casino. These relationships can make the job more enjoyable and fulfilling.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The life of a casino dealer is a blend of skill, excitement, and challenges. It requires a unique set of talents, from mathematical prowess and manual dexterity to customer service and stress management. Despite the demanding nature of the job, many dealers find it rewarding due to the dynamic environment, the potential for good earnings, and the opportunity to meet a wide range of people. For those who thrive in high-energy settings and enjoy games of chance, a career as a casino dealer can be both an exciting and fulfilling path.

2024.05.21 15:43 CarlJohnsonLightmode How important is vram?

I'm building a new pc and I haven't decided the graphics card yet. The most demanding games I will be playing with this pc will probably be milsims like squad. Is 8 gigs of vram enough or should I go the extra mile to pay a little more or find a used graphics card with 12 gigs of vram.

2024.05.21 15:43 Bennnnn_ Issue with COTN - Winterhold

The other day I asked for help in setting up COTN, JK and TGC. I've managed to fix all of the issues with Dawnstar, Falkreath and Morthal but not Winterhold.
If I have COTN - Winterhold installed, my game immediately crashes as soon as a launch. When this mod in uninstalled, the game loads but Winterhold is broken with no access to most of the buildings and countless clipping issues. I haven't installed any other patches because that was an issue that broke my game before.
