2024.05.21 18:08 TracerIP2 What is essential, and are these reasonable prices

Recently had to get my car towed to the local garage as the front left (passenger) wheel stopped steering (right was fine). The car is a Ford fiesta 2017. The report given to me by the garage was:
Your NS steering arm has snapped. To replace the steering rack is £763.48 Your front brake pads are 80% worn and the discs are lipped, to replace is £431.76 Your NSF tyre is scrubbed on the edges and your OSF tyre is at 2.8mm. A budget Laeo tyre is £61 A mid-range Nexen is £97 A premium Continental is £136
Are these reasonable prices, and what is essential work in this list?

MAGICKAL INFLUENCES AND PRINCIPLES OF HERMETICISM #Astrology #HermeticMagick #HermeticQabalah #Kabbalah #Qabalah
Hermeticism means religious and spiritual movement that took place after the Greek victory of Egypt lead by Alexander the Great in 332 BCE. Hermeticism is a term that frequents historical, occult and scholarly texts of all sorts.
In a nutshell, the Hermetic movement was a culturally mixed rejoinder to the syncretism of spiritual practices of the day, particularly the ancient Greco-Roman as well as the Egyptian religious systems. Cosmologies, philosophies and magickal practices from the mentioned systems and other blended and mingled, finally forming a unique drift of thought and practice. Actually, Hermeticism is not a “religion” by general definition but is better known as a spiritual and philosophical movement.
It is improbable to study the development of mysticism and magic in the Western world without some knowledge of Hermeticism. That is exactly why Pagans, Witches, magicians and occultists can hugely benefit from understanding a bit of the history. Ultimately, it is part of our own holy lineage!
The hermetic element includes astrology, alchemy, astronomy, spellcraft, natural magick, mystical philosophy, planetary magick, elemental magick as well as the metaphysical correspondences of incenses, herbs, gemstones, animals, days of the week, and body parts. Many occult and religious movements came up and kept growing, from Hermetic soil and practically all magickal ways have been affected to some extent by Hermeticism.

The Hermetic Threads

  • The Cosmic Egg
There are various curious odd crossovers and relationships between Greco-Roman culture, the traditional Jewish Kabbalah and the ancient Egyptian culture. For beginners, the symbolism of the Cosmic Egg exists in Greek mythology just like the Orphic Egg. The Greek myth is that the entire universe was birthed just from a silver egg. The egg is always portrayed with a serpent well coiled around it. Due to Egypt’s enormous impact on the Western world, it is quite probable that the Greeks borrowed this symbolism from the Egyptian story of creation.
In case the yolk of the Cosmic Egg is completely Positive (evident) Presence, its white or albumen, is similar to the Areas of negative being in the Kabbalistic sense.
The Tarot
Most occultists hold that the tarot has made its route to Europe from India as they came from Egypt. The studious consent is that the tarot was founded in Italy early 15th Century by the secretary to Filippo Maria Visconti (Marziano da Tortona). Nevertheless, a likely early Egyptian model for the cards, or at least some of their thoughts, has been proposed.
The Caduceus
Both Hermes and the Hermes Trismegistus are described as having the caduceus wand. Basically, the caduceus is a symbol that was used in ancient Greco-Roman advancement. It is described as a wand bearing a Ketheric light, wings at its top, as well as two snakes, are well curled around the rod. This snake imagery is comparable to the Vedic idea of the kundalini, which is a force of the human energy system expressed as serpents rising around the spine right from the base chakra and to the crown chakra. It is known that the esoteric education of kundalini is most widespread in Shakta Tantric schools of Hinduism.
Seven Principles of Hermeticism.
The seven principles of Hermeticism as known in new Hermetic thought are of critical concern to the spiritual practitioner due to their weight on the mind, body and spirit relationship.
Readers used to the contemporary witchcraft and other magickal practices are likely to appreciate esoteric crossovers in their own philosophical structure. The principles discussed, are quite fit for magickal lives and anyone adopting an emotionally inspired spiritual system.

1. The Principle of Mentalism
All things in actuality and physical being originate from the mental plane. Usually, the mind of humans is a representation of the supreme mind and is the root of all psychic and rational power. The only important thing, in actuality, is the mind- from which everything in existence derives.
With time, try actively changing your state of mind to understand how much your personal experience improves. This existential practice needs a lot of perseverance and a lot of practice; however, it can surely help us appreciate the power of thought.
2. The Principle of Correspondence
The principle states that as above, so below; as below, so above. This implies that existence is sustained through similar forces, being the source of spiritual mystery. The principles of one thing match with the principles of a different thing meaning that reality works just like a mirror.
How should you put this into practice?
Get to YouTube and try to watch some videos regarding the cosmos. Have a great time examining the universe, leaving to instill that natural sense of surprise we usually feel like kids. Later, study videos regarding quantum and atoms mechanics. Take into account how the Great above compares with the Great Below. With this, the incredible accomplishments might amaze you!
3. The Principle of Vibration
In reality, nothing is physically constant. Everything is vibrating or is a pattern of energy. Since nothing is fixed or static, the only constant changes. Everything is a sign of the Great Mind and the vibration is the basis that anything can live as its “own” separate thing (a river, a book, a thought, etc.) rather than remaining one.
To actualize this, get an old chipped cup, vase or plate that is no longer used. With the use of paint or a permanent marker, take the object and outline some of the magickal figures listed here. When you are set, go somewhere that you can release the object, enabling it to shatter. Once it is shattered, do some divination by checking the pieces to find out whether they form any symbol that is psychologically significant to you individually. In addition, think of the reality of transformation as the only constant in existence.

https://preview.redd.it/mmapef1y5di51.jpg?width=897&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19659976e5ed4713e0df4bbe6312859ae1968220
4. The Principle of Polarity
In this context, it is known that reality is duality. Just like the principle yin and yang (Taoist principle), this states that everything has its corresponding opposite though is a section of the same unity. Due to the fact that all of existence is polarized, both antithesis and thesis (one thing and its absolute opposite) are concurrently true and untrue— this is a global paradox that levels thoughts of absolutes in any sphere of life.
To put this into practice, you should study with a local college or school concerning public debates you may be capable of attending. Contrarily, check some debates online that you may personally feel an unbiased emotional response. Regardless of the type of debate, try to understand each party’s conflicting viewpoints. Is it likely that each party can be both wrong and right concurrently?
5. The Principle of Rhythm
Some occurrences like action and reaction, the ascent and descent of the tide of the sea as well as the life cycle of birth and the ultimate death account for the principle of rhythm. It insists that nothing ever lives as one of its polarities though it is always varying. Understanding this, an individual can consciously decide not to fall to one ultimate or another in any field of life.
To put this into practice, you need to test the elements. The responsive souls incarnated in a humans frame, we are just at the grace of the elements surrounding us. We need to always be balanced to keep a footing in life. Think of what it would seem or feel to run your finger fast through a candle flame for the sake of finding a threshold for some amount of pain. Also, imagine the methods we human beings harness electricity and fire to improve our lives, and how we need to keep a balance before it turns out as a force that can catch us. Be creative by rehearsing with your thresholds encompassing the components water, air, and earth—simply be careful!
6. The Principle of Cause and Effect
The principle states that nothing happens by chance; everything takes place because of something else. You can either decide to act as a social chess piece for others’ desires, whims, conditionings and norms or one can decide to both take power over and individualize their own thoughts, bodies, emotions, actions and experiences.
Here, you need to strategically rest in a sacred place and imagine about various seasons in your life where you may have “committed” some energy and could still be connected by an astral string that cuts through space and time. With the use of any suitable magickal tools, sever any hurtful energetic cordages from your body. Imagine them reverting to their individual space-time with a prominent blast of light and supply your body with this universal light as you deal with each connection. Go easy on yourself and remember that healing is a lifetime path.
7. The Principle of Gender
In reality, everything is a combination of feminine and masculine. The two forces occur separately or as an absolute. Everyone or everything is a blend of feminine and masculine energies instead of being one or the other, and its exhibition on the natural plane is individual’s biological sex- which can always be male, female or something in between.
Put this into practice by researching about typical gender expressions. Examine how various cultures throughout time have recognized non-cis-gendered groups, in both old and recent times. You can even choose to experiment with some cross-dressing to find out how it influences you spiritually and psychologically.

2024.05.21 17:22 cokebinge Deep dive WordPress site

Hi,
I’m attempting to get a website made for some physical products I sell.
Please appreciate I’ve had an ongoing interest in computing my whole life but am in no terms an expert in anything, especially web development of which I have close to no experience with. I can appreciate my lack of knowledge in this field and appreciate any input. Please assume I know nothing and am asking the entirely wrong questions.
It’s a site I expect will generate a bit of organic traffic as it’s a niche product you wouldn’t necessarily go to Amazon or eBay for and feel like payment processing is required for both convenience and product legitimacy.
From some cursory research I think I’ve decided to settle with a self hosted (Not a physical server I’m running, just managing and in control of) WordPress site that uses WooCommerce and Stripe.
As it’s a niche product I think there’s some chance I can do well with SEO and probably AdWords.
My main questions are about the architectural choices I’m making and whether or not they will turn out to be more trouble than they are worth down the line.
It might be helpful to list some of the assumptions I’ve made:
  1. More devs are familiar with WP and it’s a lot quicker to build out sites therefore cheaper compared to websites built from the ground up - Also if I need a different person to change it up in the future, it’ll be easier as it isn’t custom made.
  2. WooCommerce and Stripe are cheap, well supported, well known and integrate with WP easily.
  3. Building out a WP site as opposed to paying for something like Shopify yearly, isn’t a false economy, if managed, perpetually.
Considering themes and plugins. What I want out of the website is for it to be fast loading, not full of bloat, good for SEO, easy to work on and security conscious where possible. Some plugins I understand are necessary and what makes WordPress a quick and easy tool to work with in the first place but I’d like to keep them to a functional minimum.
Aside question: What are the main vectors for security compromise? I’d have to assume it’s abandoned plugins, plugins turned malicious, databases and insecure forms? In this context is there a distinction between plugins and themes or are they equal problem areas?
// Plugins
I want to keep plugins to a bare minimum as mentioned for performance and security reasons.
Yoast or Rank Math - Both apparently offer the same thing and seem well known within the community. I feel these are tools that I could make use of as I would like to rank on search engines. Is there a big value difference between the plugins themselves and also with the paid versions?
WP Rocket - I don’t understand caching and how it works but this plugin seems popular and apparently helps quite a lot with load times which I can appreciate as a massive value add.
WooCommerce - A necessary condition if I want ecommerce functionality.
PCI compliance - What is this, is it necessary and if so how do it build it in, in a sensible way?
Analytics plugins
See bottom of post - re: Compliance
Any plugins of value that I’ve missed or should I be right with these?
// Themes
Themes aren’t something I know a lot about. I assume they have a huge effect on page load times and also assume that the more well known themes would be easier for a larger designedeveloper base to work on as they are probably already familiar with them.
Themes I’ve heard thrown around a lot are Elementor and Astra. Am I right in seeing Elementor as more of a page builder lots of WordPress devs can use to “Make their own themes” and Astra as just a straight up theme?
If demanding Astra, am I taking a position of restricting the creative liberty of the designer at the ostensibly safer and/or more optimised Astra theme? Or have I got this wrong? Admittedly I have done very little research on WordPress themes and any input here would be much appreciated.
// Backups
UpdraftPlus - Looks to be a plugin that’ll backup and export data out. What are the security considerations here? Any value to the paid version?
Are there other plugins that do a better job, cheaper?
// Security
For my small ecom website, are these security plugins bloat or value?
Sucuri
Wordfence
Are the premium versions worth it? Have I missed any ?
// Legal and compliance
I don’t know much about tracking and marketing but assume I’ll want to pursue social media marketing in the future. Am I right in assuming I should be implementing tracking pixels and analytics from the get go?
As stated, I assume I’ll want to run Facebook tracking pixels. Is there a particular plugin or way I should be implementing them into a WP site?
Analytics. What’s the distinction between Google site kit, Google tag manager, GA4 etc. I presume I’ll need a plugin for this.
Cookies, privacy policies and notices - I don’t want pop ups but I want to be compliant where I need to. If pop ups are completely necessary is there a way to have them only pop for people visiting from areas that require it? Can I segment this to it’s own page?
PCI Compliance
Still not entirely sure what this entails - I understand it pertains to payment processing?
// Hosting
As I understand it these shouldn’t be in the scope of the web dev proposal and I’ll take responsibility for their implementation.
Any recommendations for hosts? Load speed and uptime are critical and pricing comes secondary to me.
The business is located in Australia but I would like decent access from around the globe.
Cloudflare. I’m still not entirely sure what they offer. As I understand, they run a huge part of the internet's infrastructure and offer DNS servers, DDOS protection and have vast CDN’s. Should I be using their services which I think are free? Am I subjecting people using VPN’s to constant captchas? Am I missing what other offerings they have? By virtue of using their DNS servers, am I using their CDN’s? And what value might I realise from them?
In general what conclusions should I walk away with?
WP needs to be constantly maintained but offers more flexibility?
WP if it isn’t maintained will break and have constant security issues?
WP will allow me to realise cheaper and faster website development on account of it’s frameworks, plugins and popularity within the community?
Anything I’ve missed?
Sorry for the massive post but I’m pretty new to this and just trying to cover all the bases.
Appreciate any wisdom and I’m more than willing to buy you coffee if you DM me
Thanks heaps

Notes:
If u see any error, comment below and so i can check it.
Month Lapis total

April 20500
May 20680
Imgur with the the source and lapis amount of each month:
https://imgur.com/a/Aem6Utm
Hello everyone! Its been 5 months since last post, and after looking at the price spike in xon pity with the current state of the game i felt like putting a little effort on ranting about it was "worth" it! I would also like to point out theres a chance i missed some lapis, but it shouldnt be more than 1-2k at worse scenario.
So, Xon cheapest pity is 75-76k, thats an increase of around 17500 compared to previous premiums /58.5k) and 31k more than NV/NV+ (45K). The total lapis we have until now from all 2024 is 130920 (with chance i missed some, but like i said it should be minimal).
Whats does this mean? That xon pity is more than half the total lapis gumi has given us in 2024. Premiums have always been expensive, but now with the amount of skipped content we get that reduces the lapis sources even a normal NV or NV+ can be considered expensive since u need 2 months of saving to pity one. This means an already going problem getting worse, yay!
What is this post purpose? Will they do something about it? Probably not or they will just say "we are sorry, wont happen again", but i wanted to let people know how expensive it actually is without any paid lapis source. (Also i was filling annoyed for having the calcs and never posting them)

2024.05.21 17:16 Martin-Air termina without internet

In an attempt to change from Debian to Fedora I attempted to follow the guide on the Wiki. However, it fails upon pulling the image.
Executing lxc image list images: lists nothing. Executing lxc remote add upstream https://uk.images.linuxcontainers.org/ responds with Error: Get "https://uk.images.linuxcontainers.org:8443": lookup uk.images.linuxcontainers.org on :53: no such host. However, the DNS server does respond with a value according to its logs.
Interrestingly the Debian instance does have internet, as does the Android environment.

One of my most anticipated release of 2024, Chogokin MSN-04FF Sazabi is finally available for pre-order on Premium Bandai USA. Price listed at $420 + $10 shipping, total $465.45 after tax. Pricey but I think it's unlikely to find Japanese version to buy for less on secondary market any time soon, Amazon Japan lowest listing is currently at 80000 yen, over 500 USA, with shipping it will easily go over 600. Expected delivery date is in November though... 6 long months to go

2024.05.21 17:03 palceu EmulationStation vs. Daijishô

Both are what i believe to be the most popular frontends currently for portable android gaming devices. I'm having trouble choosing which one i should stick with, they both have many advantages and disadvantages.
Daijisho:
Pros: Free price, easiest to set up, has a native section for android apps, supports widgets with many useful features (recently played, favorites, retroachievements, etc.), many options for searching and sorting games.
Cons: Slideshow interface doesn't do it for me, can't change the order of platforms without renaming, no support for screenscraper miximages or other media.
ES-DE:
Pros: Very customizable interface with some really "console feeling" themes, very thorough and detailed scraping, supports nearly every platform and custom collections, easy to transfer data between devices.
Cons: Paid (through a confusing patreon method on top of that), very cumbersome setup and update process, not many functionalities besides booting up ROMs, no native support for launching android apps from within the app (can be achieved with custom collections).
Ultimately, i think ES-DE works the best to make you forget you're using android at all and make you feel like playing on an actual console, with the pretty ways it displays your ROMs collection. Yet, i think Daijisho is much more user friendly for when you want to actually play your games, with many features facilitating finding and playing the games you want and interacting with your collection and apps in a deeper way. All in all, both end up doing very different things and specializing on them, making different kinds of users happy.
So, what do you think? Do you agree with what I've listed as pros and cons? What is your frontend of choice?

2024.05.21 16:55 Z89Design Best RA View in a Front End - Looking for Recommendations

Hey everyone - I'm looking at a new handheld and deciding between the AYN Odin 2 and a Steam Deck OLED and weighing the pros and cons of each. I currently have a Retroid Pocket 3 running Daijisho, and I absolutely loved the RetroAchievements widget before it stopped working. Having that console-like dashboard for RetroAchievements was great... curious if any front end on Android or EmuDeck does something comparable to what was there in Daijisho? . It's not the determining factor for me, but definitely on the list!
Side note... I have LaunchBox on my PC, and it's RetroAchievements integration is ok, but not nearly as good as Daijisho's was. It could certainly use an overhaul (being able to see more than 5 games, snappier loading, a separate tab or "profile view", etc.)

Common herbs used in pesto

The original pesto recipe, Pesto alla Genovese, exclusively uses Genovese basil as the primary herb due to its unique sweetness.
Basil is a delicate herb, and using the mortar and pestle instead of harshly chopping or blending with a food processor slows down the oxidation of the leaves. This not only helps preserve the sauce's vivid green hue but also enhances its flavor and aroma.
However, pesto has evolved to encompass a broader range of ingredients.
Here are some other common herbs used in many pesto recipes:
In addition to herbs, many pesto sauces incorporate ingredients such as arugula, spinach, kale, lemon juice, or tomatoes.

Common nuts used in pesto

Similarly, some recipes replace the traditional toasted pine nuts with other types of nuts to add a unique twist to the classic dish.
Here are some commonly used nuts used to prepare pesto:

Is pesto keto-friendly?

Traditional pesto is low in carbohydrates and contains less than one gram of net carbs per tablespoon. This makes pesto an excellent keto-friendly option that offers impressive flavors.
However, since there are many different pesto variations, it’s crucial to read labels to check that there are no added sugars or hidden carbs that could interfere with ketosis.
For those following Healthy Keto, a low-carb diet that focuses on nutrient-dense whole foods, checking the ingredients list is essential, as many pre-made pestos can include potentially harmful additives and preservatives.
Watch this video to discover the health and nutritional benefits of basil.
Amazing Health & Nutritional Benefits Of Basil

4 health benefits of pesto

Authentic basil pesto combines several superfoods high in nutrients, offering many potential health benefits.
Here are four reasons why you should incorporate more pesto into your meals.

1. Anti-aging properties

Research published in Frontiers in Nutrition shows that healthy fats, particularly the monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids found in olive oil, can improve brain function and help reduce the risk of cognitive decline.
These fatty acids are also vital for supporting eye health and contribute to healthier skin by improving skin barrier function and hydration.

2. Supports the immune system

According to a study published in Foods, Genovese basil is particularly rich in polyphenols, including rosmarinic and caffeic acid.
These health-promoting compounds have been linked to potent anti-inflammatory effects that support immune system function and may lower the risk of chronic diseases.
3. Potential anti-cancer effects
Key ingredients in pesto, including basil, garlic, and olive oil, are exceptional sources of antioxidants that may help lower cancer risk.
Antioxidants can counteract the effects of free radicals, thereby preventing oxidative stress, which is linked to cellular and DNA damage, a leading cause of cancer.

4. Promotes digestive health

Parmigiano Reggiano, widely considered the best cheese for pesto, contains digestive enzymes and beneficial gut bacteria, also known as probiotics.
Probiotics help maintain a healthy gut microbiome essential for nutrient absorption, digestive health, and overall well-being.
Research published in Food Technology and Biotechnology found that Parmigiano Reggiano also contains oligosaccharides, which act as a prebiotic food source for beneficial gut bacteria.

Store-bought vs. homemade pesto

Italians will be the first to tell you there's no comparison between store-bought and homemade pesto sauce.
Pesto is a delicate sauce that’s best consumed fresh, as its flavor and quality can deteriorate quickly, becoming bitter and dull as the enzymes released from basil oxidize.
To help extend pesto’s shelf life, store-bought versions often contain preservatives and additives that can negatively impact the flavor and quality of the sauce and may harm your health.
Additionally, many store-bought pestos will substitute critical ingredients, such as extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), cheese, or fresh garlic, with cheaper alternatives or omit them entirely, leading to a bland or unpalatable flavor and a significantly lower nutritional value.

How to choose the best store-bought pesto sauce

Homemade pesto sauce is always preferred, but if you don't have time to make it, the best premade pestos can often be found in the refrigerated section.
Look for pestos that don't contain artificial preservatives or low-quality ingredients, such as sunflower oil or potato flakes. Instead, opt for certified organic and non-GMO products that use high-quality oil and real cheese sourced from grass-fed and pasture cows.

Keto-friendly pesto recipes

If you're looking for a way to add extra flavor to your keto meals, look no further than pesto. Chicken, fish, steak, and most vegetables pair exceptionally well with this tasty and versatile sauce.
Here are some delicious keto-friendly pesto recipes:
To complete your pesto experience, try experimenting with keto pasta recipes.
Zucchini noodles, keto gnocchi, and keto egg noodles are excellent low-carb pasta alternatives that work well with keto pesto sauce.

Tips to make the best pesto sauce

Here are some tips on how to choose the best ingredient to make a nutritious and flavorful pesto at home.

Parmesan cheese

Opt for authentic Parmigiano Reggiano, an Italian staple that’s been in production for over 900 years.
Known for its rich, nutty flavor and granular texture, Parmigiano Reggiano undergoes a meticulous aging process and adheres to stringent production standards, ensuring its authenticity and superior quality.
The Parmigiano Reggiano standard guidelines underscore a commitment to natural production, prohibiting additives and ensuring cows are fed local forage.
This approach not only guarantees the cheese's premium taste but also preserves essential nutrients and probiotics.

Olive oil

Select only pure cold-pressed EVOO. Many olive oils on the market are diluted with cheaper oils that compromise flavor and can introduce harmful ingredients that may negatively impact your health.
In addition, evidence published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition summarizes, "phenolic content of olive oil is reduced by chemical extraction and refining."
By prioritizing cold-pressed EVOO, you ensure your olive oil is rich in flavor and health-promoting properties.

Fresh Genovese basil

Harvested during early growth stages to ensure optimal flavor, Genovese basil is the prime choice for making basil pesto.
As Dr. Berg explains, "Basil has some amazing health benefits. It’s loaded with vitamin K, manganese, and flavonoids, which can help support healthy bones, blood clotting, and skeletal health while offering potent anti-inflammatory properties.”

2024.05.21 16:44 TeaAndCozy Nocturne Alchemy Summer is coming this Friday! 4 reviews from last year's

Here's the news we've all been waiting for: "Summer '24 Limited arrives Friday May 24th @ 8 AM Pacific"!
For those less familiar with Nocturne Alchemy, this release will include a "Resurgence" of (most of) last year's Summer 2023 scents, as well as this year's new releases, which will themselves then Resurge next year. You can find the complete list of last year's Summer 2023 scents HERE, with the caveat that the Crystalline #s won't be returning since they already came back in a Thoth's Archive, and the Musks don't Resurge either.
One of the nice things about this Resurgence thing is that you can buy decants in the first year to see how you like them, then full-size them the following year. Arae Decantery, Crypta Obscura, and Ajevie all do Nocturne Alchemy decants. And for those scents that won't Resurge (like the seasonal Musks), collections are around for long enough that there's still generally time to try decants before FSing. With only rare exceptions - looking at you, Lait! - things don't typically sell out right away, and collections stay up for several months.
I thought it might be helpful if I shared my thoughts on the Summer 2023 scents I've tried. We'd all love to hear your own thoughts on these or any other Summer 2023 perfumes, if you have any reviews to share! Drop thoughts into a comment if you feel so moved, or even put up your own review post. It's always great fun to read reviews - and really helpful for making our wishlists, especially for newer folks who weren't around or who weren't paying attention to this house last summer, so all the Resurgence scents will be new to them.

Amber Cotton Candy & Honey Bee [Fossilized Amber accord, Bastet’s Amber absolute, Labdanum, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedar Chips, Cotton Candy accord, Vanilla-sugar, Whipped Orange Blossom Honey accord, Languid Amber Cordial accord (rich PC Ozymandias amber absolute), French Vanilla, Caramel and Raspberry Essence] - I don't buy NAVA's Bees because their honey doesn't work on me - their orange blossom honey is quite cloying, sickly sweet, and a bit urinous on me. This was a freebie sniffie bottle from Ajevie, which I still tried because it's always fun to try new things, and because (having experienced the orange blossom honey before) I figured I could overlook the honey to evaluate the other notes. This amber definitely has a thick, syrupy quality to it - I get almost a whiff of their limestone accord - and it's heavy on the labdanum. The pink spun-sugar cotton candy note amps the already quite sweet honey note. I also, to my surprise, actually can make out a touch of tart juicy raspbery - but not any patchouli.
Peach Vanilla Crème Tea [Peach skin, Peach pit, Ripened Peach accord, Black Tea, Bastet’s Amber absolute, Vanilla Bean Cordial, and Vanilla-Sugar] - It's peach iced tea, sweet and refreshing, much like Poesie Peach Tiara [Peach iced tea, honeysuckle, sun warmed skin, and crisp white petticoats], but without the cotton note, and with both the black tea and the peach more assertive. This peach is a bit candy-ish (possibly that sweetness is amped by the vanilla sugar), and the tea is suprisingly cinnamon-y, which pairs beautifully with the peach and makes it more a transitional scent, summer into fall, than purely a hot-weather scent for me.

And on the off-chance that the Crystalline #s do return (with NA you never know for sure...)

Crystalline #10 [Toasted Coconut, Coconut Pulp, Caramelized Sugar, Tonka, Coconut Milk, Bastet’s Musk, eNVie saphir, Crystalline (Studio Limited Originals)] - Sweetened coconut. It's simple yet gorgeous. The sugary note helps it avoid sunscreen status, and there's something really light and refreshing about this one. Longevity is not great though.
Crystalline #11 [Sandalwood Milk accord, Santalum extract, Australian Sandalwood, Sandalwood Chips in Oudh blend, Golden Indian Sandalwood, Kobalt (Studio Limited Originals) Vanilla, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Red Sandalwood and Crystalline (Studio Limited Originals)] - A woodsy-creamy sandalwood and NAVA's lovely vanilla, this one recognizably a mix of Kobalt and Crystalline. It's difficult to say which of the sandalwood or vanilla are stronger because each of them seems the star on alternate sniffs! This is woodsier, more milky, and a little less addictive to my nose than Snowy Woolly [Vanilla essence, Indian Sandalwood, French Vanilla, Coconut Husk, Bastet’s Musk absolute and White Sandalwood], but it's a reasonable alternative if you're looking for the unctuous, gorgeous simplicity of vanilla + sandalwood. A touch of smoky oud comes out in the drydown, which is a welcome addition that makes this scent just a touch more complex.

2024.05.21 16:30 glennsfono Where did liked video playlist go

I no longer have a playlist for my liked videos. Just a shitty, worthless grid of the 20 most recent videos I've liked and no way to return my list of them. All I see is an option to "play next in queue" with premium membership.
Did YouTube seriously ruin the playlist and hide it behind a pay wall? I would rather eat my own head than get premium youtube.

What is “premium subscription” and how much more does it cost than regular Prime?
When I search some movies/shows, it says “Premium subscription” (which as far as I’ve noticed means I can never watch it) but sometimes it just says “Subscription” (which means I can watch it since it’s just regular Prime). Does it mean some unnamed add-on subscription, is it the same thing as the 2.99 upgrade for no ads, or is it some other upgrade?
Also, we do have some subscriptions like AMC and a couple others and for some reason I can’t watch AMC subscription things through my Prime Video app on my iPad (because my subscription doesn’t register there and it’s not listed under my subscriptions) but when I go to through the app on the TV my subscription is there.

What's New in the May 2024 Lightroom Release?
Hi everyone, Terry White from Adobe here, and I'm happy to share the news about today's Adobe Photography Release (May 2024). There are updates across the Lightroom Ecosystem to include Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom on Mobile, and Lightroom on Web.
Today, we are introducing a groundbreaking feature in Lightroom-Generative Remove, powered by Firefly. This innovative tool allows you to effortlessly eliminate distractions from your photos with a single brush stroke, all without the need to switch to Photoshop.
We've also improved Lens Blur (which was in Early Access), making it easier than ever to control the depth of field in your photos with professional results.

Easily remove distractions with Generative Remove (early access)

Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw
https://i.redd.it/axpim9fmas1d1.gif
With Generative Remove, powered by Firefly, you can easily remove unwanted objects and distractions, even on complex backgrounds, in just a few simple steps.
Distractions can ruin an otherwise great photo. Generative Remove allows you to quickly remove them with realistic, high-quality results.
Generative Remove uses Firefly technology to intelligently fill the photo behind removed items. The results on complex backgrounds are particularly impressive, like matching a detailed wallpaper pattern or the fabric on a plaid shirt. Lightroom will even give you a few variations to choose from so you'll have full creative control in picking the one you like best.
\Note that the previous "Heal" tool is now called "Remove." You'll find Generative Remove within the Remove tool, accessible via a toggle on Lightroom mobile or a check box on Lightroom for web, Lightroom Classic, and Lightroom.*
Generative Remove is powered by Firefly Image 1 Model and is available today as an early access feature to Lightroom paid plan subscribers across the Lightroom ecosystem via mobile, desktop, iPad, web and Classic.

Get a pro-quality background blur with AI-powered Lens Blur

Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw
https://i.redd.it/h43ibvxnas1d1.gif
Our improved Lens Blur uses the power of AI to map the foreground and background of your image to apply a pro-quality blur effect. Blur busy backgrounds to make your portraits pop, add a dramatic blur to nature photos to make the greenery stand out, or get a dreamy, blurred background from a sparkling city skyline at night.
With the interactive and flexible controls of Lens Blur, you can play around with the blur amount, change the shape of the light points or "bokeh," and customize the area you want to blur using the focus range tool.
This new release of Lens Blur includes better subject detection, the ability to create custom presets, and batch editing capabilities. Please note that the latter two features are coming soon to Android devices.

Get the perfect blur effect in a click with new Lens Blur Adaptive Presets

Available on Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom for mobile (iOS & Android), Lightroom for web, and Adobe Camera Raw
Today, we also introduce a set of brand-new adaptive presets for Lens Blur that use AI technology to apply a blur effect that's tailor-made to your photo. Presets are great for quickly finding the perfect blur look without having to dig into fine-tuned edits.
You can choose from seven Blur Background adaptive presets that change the shape and style of the blur in the background: Subtle, Strong, Circle, Bubble, Geometric, Ring, or Swirl.
After you pick a preset, you can adjust the strength of the blur with the amount slider or customize the effect further by using the Lens Blur tool controls.

What else is new in the latest Lightroom release

We've also made several updates across the Lightroom ecosystem that give you more creative control and flexibility when working on your photos and videos.
Enjoy Sony tethering support
Available in Lightroom Classic on the latest Sony digital cameras such as the Alpha 7 IV and Alpha 7R V – for a full list see here.
See your images on a big screen as soon as you click the camera shutter. We're expanding support for tethering by adding the latest Sony digital cameras so you can photograph directly into Lightroom Classic, saving precious time on your workflow. It's now even easier to review photo details, edit in real-time, and collaborate with on-set production teams and clients.
For a full list of all newly supported cameras in Lightroom see this page.
Easily move cloud files to your local drive
Available on Lightroom
At last year's Adobe MAX conference, we introduced local storage for Lightroom — the option to work with your photos and videos in Lightroom without having to import or sync them to the cloud.
With this release, it's now easier to move or archive your photos off the Lightroom Cloud and store them on your computer's internal drive, an external drive, or a local server. This is great when you want to free up space on the cloud, or for file management such as archiving past projects to a local drive.
You can select multiple files within an album, or an entire album to move to your local drive. Lightroom will ask what folder structure you'd like to use, so you can preserve the album structure locally as you move it off the cloud. This is especially useful if you have a high volume of photos and are working with numerous files at a time.
Edit videos with the Tone Curve
Available on Lightroom
You can now edit videos in Lightroom using Tone Curve. This graph-based tool enables you to fine-tune a video's brightness and contrast by simply dragging the curve control points up or down. For example, if a point on the tone curve is moved up, it becomes a lighter tone; if it is moved down, it becomes darker.
Create and play slideshows in Lightroom
Available on Lightroom
Lightroom now has a slideshow feature so you can display selected photos from your library in a slideshow format — a great way to share edits with clients, family, or friends.

Performance, reliability, and workflow enhancements to Lightroom Classic

We've also made the following improvements to Lightroom Classic, so that it performs smoothly and enables you to work more efficiently:
  • Improved cloud syncing: Images in your Lightroom Cloud will now more reliably match what you see in your Classic catalog and vice versa
  • Smoother image navigation in Develop: We've improved the responsiveness and navigation experience in Develop along with better caching
  • Optimized preview management: We have re-architected the way we generate and store previews, resulting in a much smoother experience
  • Filter by exported images: You can now filter for files by their export status and create a smart collection showing what's been exported
  • Search support for new metadata: We've introduced new capabilities to search and create smart collections by alt text, extended descriptions, and images edited with Remove or Point Color

Our commitment to AI ethics and principles

Adobe is committed to developing AI in accordance with the company's AI Ethics principles of accountability, responsibility, and transparency. As AI becomes more prevalent in content creation, Adobe believes that it is important to provide consumers with transparency about its use in the creative process. A recent study from Adobe showed that 76% of U.S. consumers emphasized the importance of knowing if online content is generated using AI. When Generative Remove becomes generally available, Content Credentials will be automatically attached to photos edited with the feature in Lightroom. Like a "nutrition label" for digital content, Content Credentials are tamper-evident metadata that can provide important information about how content was created, modified and published.
Content Credentials are built on the C2PA open standard and supported by the Adobe-led Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), which was founded in 2019 to increase trust in the digital ecosystem. Today, the CAI has grown into a global coalition of over 3,000 members across tech, policy, media companies, creative professionals, researchers and more, all working together to add transparency to digital content.
As always, let us know if you have any questions in the comments. Cheers! Happy Lightroom Day.
