2024.05.21 11:16 Ok-Juggernaut-5891 How much money should I have comfortable before I move to another state?

20m, live with my parents.
Currently I am working 2 jobs (make about 750 a week), I have no degree. College costs have completely scared me off.
When my grandmother passed away, I inherited 40k.
On top of that I have 10 I have managed to save. All of it is sitting my bank account.
Should I consider getting a third job to get even more money?
For context I live in NJ and want to move to NC. My only concern is I want to have enough cash to be comfortable without burning through my savings. So how much should I realistically have before I move to ensure I am not shooting myself in the foot?
I really don’t want to touch the 40k. Kinda wanna figure out how to invest it, but I am fearful of not being able to support myself when I move south.

The Blending of Luo Shen Fu with Modern Design: Exploring the Art and Craftsmanship of the Varmilo Goddess Luo Keyboard
The Goddess Luo keyboard is a unique masterpiece that blends classical Chinese literature with cutting-edge keyboard technology. Drawing inspiration from "Luo Shen Fu(Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River)," a poem composed over 1,800 years ago during China’s turbulent Three Kingdoms era by the poet Cao Zhi(Cao Cao's third son), this keyboard pays homage to Goddess Luo—identified as Zhen Ji, celebrated for her beauty and enigmatic presence. To aid Western consumers in appreciating this deep historical and cultural context, we've integrated symbols and text from the poem, reinterpreted through contemporary technology.

Goddess Luo
Excerpt from Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River
Historical Context and Intrigue
Zhen Ji was historically the daughter-in-law of Yuan Shao, an adversary of Cao Cao(the King of Wei Kingdom), and married Cao Pi(Cao Cao's eldest son), Cao Zhi's brother, after Yuan Shao's defeat. Goddess Luo is one of the most beautiful goddesses in ancient Chinese mythology. Cao Zhi compared Zhen Ji to her to praise Zhen Ji’s beauty and purity. Though "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River" is Cao Zhi's lyrical tribute to Zhen Ji's beauty, the poet and Zhen Ji were never united, weaving a tale of unrequited love into the poem’s narrative
Keycap Design and Scroll-Style
· Overall Color and Material: Inspired by Jin Dynasty aesthetics of "purity" and "simplicity," the Goddess Luo Keyboard employs a pale aqua reminiscent of light bamboo leaves, symbolizing tranquility and depth, in line with the serene and mystical aura of the Goddess Luo. The keycaps are made from durable PBT material to ensure the longevity of text and designs.
Jin Dynasty: Han Fu
· Scroll-Style: The keyboard is crafted to emulate the form of ancient Chinese scrolls, unfolding from right to left, linearly presenting the story and poetic imagery of "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River." This layout aligns with traditional Chinese writing and reading directions and allows users to progressively engage with the poem's narrative and aesthetics.
Scroll-style communication, unfolding from right to left
Keycap Details:
· Right Enter Key: Features a mounted scholar symbolizing Cao Zhi's journey and return, linked to the line "Leaving the capital, to return to my fief in the east" expressing the poet's departure from the bustling city back to his roots.
· 2U '0' Key: Depicts distant mountains and rivers, representing the hardships of travel and longing for the distant, associated with "The sun sets in the west, the journey tires the horses," reflecting the weariness of travel and the solitude of dusk.
Keycap Detail 1
· Directional Keys: Embody various natural and poetic themes from the poem.
Keycap Detail 2
· Up Key (Morning Glow): Represents the dawn of a new day and hope, symbolizing Goddess Luo's beauty and vitality akin to the morning sun.
· Down Key (Lotus): The lotus emerging from the water, commonly symbolizing the purity and beauty of women in China, resonates with the noble image of Goddess Luo.
· Left Key (Spring Pine): The pine tree in spring, symbolizing resilience and vitality, reflects the youthful vigor of Goddess Luo.
· Right Key (Autumn Chrysanthemum): The chrysanthemum in autumn, representing noble and solitary beauty, aligns with Goddess Luo's independent and pure character.
· Enter and Shift with Enamel Piece: Correspond to the iconic lines "As elegant like a swan, as graceful as a swimming loong" Here, "loong" refers to the mythical Chinese dragon, distinct from the Western dragon archetype. In Chinese culture, the loong is revered as a symbol of power, strength, and good luck, embodying regality and grace—attributes perfectly mirroring Goddess Luo's portrayed beauty.
Enamel Piece 1
Enamel Piece 2
Integration of Chinese and English Characters
The letter area combines Chinese and English characters, where each Chinese character originates from "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River," and their initials correspond to the respective English letters, such as "其" (qí) for "Q". Additionally, these characters are styled in semi-cursive and regular script, popular during the Wei and Jin dynasties. Regular script was the preferred choice for official documents and scholarly works due to its orderly appearance, while semi-cursive was favored in personal correspondence and informal documents for its speed and artistic flair.

Top Artistic Illustration and Rear Design
· Top Artistic Illustration: The keyboard's top features an illustration of Cao Zhi gazing toward Goddess Luo, conveyed through modern illustration techniques to express the love and unreachable sorrow within "Ode to the Goddess of the Luo River."

Poet Cao Zhi
· Rear Grille Glass and Calligraphy: The rear adjustable grille glass features interactive elements like the opening and closing of lotuses and the shining sun, capturing moments such as "Radiant as the rising morning glow" and "Blazing like the lotus emerging from the water," symbolizing Goddess Luo's sublime beauty at moments when her eyes open.

The moment Goddess Luo opened her eyes
Technological Innovations
· Multi-mode Connectivity and Low Latency: The keyboard supports wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4G wireless connections, equipped with advanced chip technology to ensure response times as low as 1ms, catering to high-end users and gaming enthusiasts.
ST+Nordic Chip
Physical Mode Switch
· Gasket Mount: Incorporates a gasket structure and various layers of sound insulation materials, enhancing key feedback and sound quality for an optimal typing experience. The structure uses silicone pieces to isolate the keycaps from the keyboard base, effectively reducing vibrations and improving the sound of keystrokes.

Internal Structure
Conclusion
The Goddess Luo keyboard is Varmilo's pinnacle product for 2024, blending our reflections on classical culture and art with modern expression and showcasing the best of our current hardware and software technology. After a year of development, we are proud to present this product and hope it will garner the interest and support of our community.

2024.05.21 11:07 HassanGulzar H6 Flow + Corsair QX Fans + USB2

I completed my build with the H6 Flow case. I went with 3x120mm QX + 3x120mm QX + 2x140mm QX corsair fans.
I ran into issues with the bottom fans and went flipping the bottom fans to exit air. That meant I had to reverse the top fans on the Kraken AIO as well.
CPU started to hit 75°C to 80°C as the liquid temps would stay above 55°C.
So, a friend who helped me with the build shared this post: My H6 Flow build ft. Corsair QX cooling. I went ahead and unlinked the 2x140mm fans at bottom and rotated them and used a cutter blade to shave off some plastic from the connecting 90-degree cable as well as to further flush in the fans.
The issue I have now is that I was using just one Corsair hub that allows for 2 device connections. That hub was handling the 6 fans (3 x Front + 3 x Top Radiator) linked + 2 x 140 linked. Now, it's handling the same (top + front) 6 fans + just one of the 140 mm bottom fans due to only two connection points.
I was able to add a second Corsair hub, power it, and connect the single 140mm. But I have no USB2 header left over on the motherboard: ASRock Z790 Steel Legend WiFi; as one USB2 header is occupied by the first Corsair hub and the other USB2 header is occupied by Kraken.
Added the second hub without a USB connection
Single 140mm Fan on second Hub
Made the 2 x 140mm as flush as possible while still avoiding cable damage
I was also planning to get a strix for the ugly 24-pin connector as well... The motherboard choice is also a limiting factor here.
Do I have option(s) to expand on the USB2 Headers?
Here is my build for reference:

2024.05.21 11:05 LichKingDan About to register for classes and I need some help

I have a few options available to me for higher education. I'm currently 29 and I don't think I can give this a second shot, so I really need all the help I can get.
Here are my choices as I see it right now:
1) I can go get an associates degree in game development at a community college. I'm a bit worried about being pigeonholed with that degree.
2) I can go get an associates in CIS at community college. I don't think these credits transfer, so I might be stuck with that.
3) I can go get an associates in CS and transfer to state university. This will put me in substantial debt, but I have a part time job at UPS that pays well for now.
4) I can get a bachelor's at Colorado technical university through UPS for free, probably for CS. The downside here is that the study isn't as rigorous as I think I'd like and they don't have connections to local business to offer.
Basically, I want to leave the warehouse life as soon as possible so that I can start an actual career. I want options and growth opportunity. And I want a decent pay scale and a decent work/life balance.
My interests are in all of these areas, so that's not a huge concern. I really need to narrow my focus more and choose one.
Thank you for your time!

2024.05.21 10:58 UnPopular-Coconut Getting the fawk out of NOVA.

TL;DR - What’s the most cost effective neighborhood for GREAT schools, nature, and nice/community oriented people?
We’re originally from a <10,000 population town in Arkansas. I got a job in DC a year ago and left a DV situation with 2 small kids. I didn’t really want to live in DC but for whatever reason it was the only job I could find then, so I pushed out a liiiitle bit to Arlington and commuted for the schools and a slower paced home life. I haven’t been able to save much, but I recently got a remote job and I’m going to use this opportunity to move to a lower COL area, hopefully buy a house in a few years.
I value my children’s education - so much that I wanted to homeschool them but as a single mom from a poor family I had to let that go. (I was a semester away from a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, but ran out of money and that’s on my agenda too.) I have a 4 year old and 1 year old, so I have a little time to get it figured out but it’s definitely top priority for me in the long run. I prefer a Montessori-type school but I can let that go if there’s a school where it isn’t just sit down and be quiet.
Next, we like trees and nature walks. I want to be closer to the beach than the 3 hour drive we have now but not so close that tourist traffic ruins the summer if there is tourist traffic?
Also, I don’t plan to go out often. I’m going to try to go out without the kids once a month just for my sanity but I don’t need a night/club scene nearby. Just something like a movie theater or spa.
Last, thanks for reading all this. I know you probably didn’t expect to read a life story and a “where should we live” post at 5am, but here I am. There should be a travel agent type job for finding a place to live.

A Diverse Cultural Tapestry
Chennai’s international schools are renowned for their culturally diverse student bodies. Children from various parts of the world, including Europe, North America, the Middle East, and other Asian countries, come together in these institutions. This rich tapestry of cultures creates a unique environment where students learn to appreciate and celebrate differences, laying the foundation for strong, inclusive friendships.
Shared Experiences and Bonding
International schools in Chennai offer a plethora of extracurricular activities, from sports to arts and music to community service. These activities are designed to bring students together outside the classroom, providing opportunities for shared experiences that are crucial in building deep bonds. Whether it’s collaborating on a science project, participating in a school play, or competing in a sports tournament, these shared moments become the cornerstone of lasting friendships.
Supportive Academic Environment
The academic environment in Chennai’s international schools is designed to be supportive and collaborative rather than competitive. Group projects, peer learning sessions, and interactive classroom activities encourage students to work together and support each other. This collaborative approach not only enhances learning outcomes but also helps students develop mutual respect and understanding, essential ingredients for strong friendships.
Celebrating Festivals and Traditions
One of the most enriching aspects of social life in these schools is the celebration of a myriad of festivals and traditions from around the world. Schools often organize cultural days where students showcase their heritage through food, dance, music, and traditional attire. These celebrations foster a sense of pride in one’s own culture while simultaneously teaching students to appreciate the diversity around them. Such events are powerful in building a sense of community and belonging among students.
Navigating Challenges Together
Expatriate students often face unique challenges, such as adapting to a new country, dealing with homesickness, and understanding different cultural norms. Having friends who are going through similar experiences can be incredibly comforting. The friendships formed in this environment provide emotional support and help students navigate these challenges together, creating bonds that often last a lifetime.
Parental Involvement and Networking
The role of parents in building a supportive school community cannot be understated. International schools in Chennai actively encourage parental involvement through various school events, parent-teacher associations, and community gatherings. These platforms allow parents to form their own networks, which in turn fosters a tight-knit community for their children. This network of families often becomes an extended support system, reinforcing the friendships formed at school.
Emphasis on Social Skills and Emotional Intelligence
Chennai’s international schools place a strong emphasis on the development of social skills and emotional intelligence. Programs and workshops on empathy, communication, conflict resolution, and leadership are integrated into the curriculum. These skills are crucial for building and maintaining healthy relationships. Students learn to navigate social dynamics effectively, ensuring that their friendships are not just deep but also resilient.
Alumni Networks and Reunions
The connections made in international schools often extend beyond graduation. Many schools maintain active alumni networks, providing former students with opportunities to reconnect through reunions, professional networks, and social media groups. These networks help sustain friendships over the years, providing a sense of continuity and belonging well into adulthood.
Conclusion
Chennai’s international schools offer more than just academic excellence; they provide a nurturing environment where students from diverse backgrounds come together to form lifelong friendships. Through shared experiences, cultural celebrations, and a supportive community, these schools help students build relationships that stand the test of time. In a world that is increasingly interconnected, the friendships forged in the international schools of Chennai are a testament to the power of diversity, empathy, and mutual respect.

  • Efficiency in proficient and monetary administrations and data innovation increased by 4.3 percent.
  • Somewhere in the range of 2018 and 2022 contrasted.
  • And gains of 0.9 percent across development, assembling and retail, food, and transport, PwC said.
The sorts of businesses that are probably going to utilize man-made brainpower are seeing development in specialists’ efficiency that is very nearly multiple times quicker than somewhere else, raising expectations for a lift to the more extensive economy, bookkeeping firm PwC said.
The information proposed that the ascent of man-made consciousness could assist nations with breaking out of a trench of low-efficiency development which would support financial development, wages, and expectations for everyday comforts, PwC said in a report distributed on Tuesday.

Growth of Worker’s Productivity in AI Sectors

Hymn Stubbings, head of PwC Worldwide Business sectors and Expense and Legitimate Administrations, said exceptionally useful areas had quicker development in work promotions for individuals with artificial intelligence abilities than without, recommending man-made intelligence assumed a part in these areas’ higher efficiency.
The pattern of efficiency development created by the innovation was probably going to advance as organizations progressively conveyed generative artificial intelligence which can be utilized by non-man-made intelligence-trained professionals, she said.
Last week the top of the Worldwide Money related Asset Kristalina Georgieva said simulated intelligence was stirring things up around the town work market “like a wave” and was probably going to affect 60% of occupations in cutting-edge economies in the following two years.
The PwC report followed and broke down over a portion of a billion work promotions from 15 rich nations and involved information from the Association for Monetary Co-activity and Improvement.
It said positions that require artificial intelligence abilities — including artificial intelligence subject matter expert and non-expert jobs — conveyed a normal premium of 25% in the US and 14 percent in England.

2024.05.21 10:45 no_anybodies AIO to my dad's loudness?

on mobile. kind of cw for abuse
I (16M) am autistic. One of my symptoms is that I'm very sensitive to noise. The effect that loud noise has on me is kind of like physical pain in my ears and down my neck. Loud noises also cause me to have full body muscle spasms which are quite uncomfortable and painful. I live with my older siblings (23F, 21M) and both of my parents.
My dad is extremely loud. He's very into sports, especially football (soccer) and boxing, so he watches every game with my brother. When something happens in the game that they react to, they shout very loudly, either cheering or shouting out of anger. They watch TV on the opposite side of the house to me and I can still hear them over my own music or TV.
My dad also has a habit of shouting my name very loudly every time he sees me and holding it for about 30 seconds. Imagine someone going "Jamieeeeee" (not my real name) at top volume for a while. He does this every time he sees me without fail. If I tell him that he's being loud, he will talk in an equally as loud fake whisper and doesn't get the hint. In my mind, it feels like an equivalent to someone blasting a car horn at you for 30 seconds.
He's also just generally a loud person. He plays videos on his phone or computer on full volume, or shouts when he's excited or happy, or takes phone calls and talks on full volume no matter where he is in the house.
Though upsetting, I can cope with all of those things. However, he does some things that make this much more difficult.
My dad has a history of being abusive to my family. It's not physical (though it was before I was born) but he causes us a lot of distress. He gets blindingly angry over simple things and takes it out on everyone else. He will get angry over something like his phone being slow because he has every app open. When he's angry, he'll usually throw and break things. There have been multiple times when he will throw his phone out of anger and destroy it. He will punch his computer and shatter the monitor. I have to hide in my room or evacuate the house when this happens.
While he's doing this, he is shouting the entire time, at other people or just at whatever he's angry at. This means that when he shouts playfully, like when he sees me, it makes me panic because of the association with his anger.
It's worth noting that my older brother also has these kinds of anger episodes, however that's because he has special needs and turned to hard drugs to cope, leading to him having violent meltdowns. He has gotten better and has not had a violent spell for a while now, and is a loving older brother. However, the effect of his and my dad's meltdowns on my childhood has impacted me in many ways, including the sensitivity to men shouting no matter the context and the association with it to anger or danger. Add that to the autism and you get this.
The reason I think I might be overreacting is that, when I tell him or my mom that this bothers me, they tell me that it's his house too and he's free to use the space however he wants. My mom says that if he's loud, it means he's happy, and so I should let him be and let him express himself. My dad knows that I have autism and believes that supporting my needs will make me worse, and that putting up with it through exposure will get me used to the real world.
I agree that exposure can be good for me but I'd rather do it on my own terms. I want to come home and relax, not be shouted at until I can't leave my room out of sensitivity. I have my boundaries and I want him to respect them. However, I don't want to dictate what he can or can't do, and I don't want to start an argument.
I think it's reasonable to ask him to be quieter when I'm in the house, but he thinks I should be exposed to it to build up my tolerance and that my boundaries are an overreaction.
Am I overreacting to my dad's loudness?

2024.05.21 10:43 Dry-Guess5890 Making the most out of only two years at college

I (m22) am transferring to a state school after 4 years of school with only my liberal arts associates degree. I started college commuting to a different school during the pandemic but transferred to community college due to personal stuff and basically went in the other direction for a year before settling with liberal arts. I’m dorming and I haven’t been social at all for the past two years besides at work and an occasional meet up with an old friend so I’m nervous to be back in a school setting with the addition of my first roommate. The other part is that I’m bummed I only have two years there, but I’m also scared of being surrounded by 18 year olds. I feel like its going to go by so quickly, and I’ve missed out on the fun parts of college, I don’t want to be the super senior hanging with freshmen but I don’t want to reject the only friends possible.

2024.05.21 10:39 SnooWalruses9401 Testing my pie recipe for an upcoming baking competition

Testing my pie recipe for an upcoming baking competition
If anyone can give me any tips to improve my pie and also make the filling less liquidy and bottom fully cooked, I’ll love you forever and ever
Ingredients
(Crust) 320 grams of AP flour 16 tablespoons unsalted butter 2/3 ice cold water 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar 5 tablespoons sugar 2 teaspoons salt
(Filling) 1 can blueberry pie filling 170 grams of fresh blackberries 6 tablespoons sugar
To start with the crust, Mix dry ingredients first in a bowl, and then toss in 16 tablespoons of cold cold butter, and squish between fingers into “planks” while in the flour. Add your apple cider vinegar in your ice cold water, then slowly stream water into your flour, and mix until barely combined
Then throw your mixture on your work surface, patting and folding until barely combined, then wrap in plastic wrap, and let chill in the fridge for 2-4 hours
Remove dough ball from fridge and roll out into a rectangular shape about 8 by 10 and then fold dough in half. Then turn down clockwise and roll out again into Rectangular shape, and then fold again. Repeat 3 times (laminate dough). Then cut dough in half and separate into two double squares, wrap in plastic wrap and chill in fridge overnight.
Next morning roll our first dough ball thinly , enough to cover pie pan. Add first layer of dough in pie pan, and put pie pan in the freezer while you work on your filling
In a separate bowl mix all your filling ingredients and then put bowl in fridge while you work on your next dough ball
Roll our second dough ball thinly and then with a pizza cutter, cut into evenly wide strips for lattice.
Remove pie pan from freezer, add filling into pie pan, lattice your pie with the cut strips. Egg wash and top with course sugar.
Put into oven at 425 degrees for 24 minutes and then lower oven to 400 for another 30-40 minutes

2024.05.21 10:37 SevenPikmin Just not interested?

I'm an American (don't click off) English speaker (please stick with me) learning Spanish - the most easy, obvious, and non-sympathy-garnering language I could choose for this situation. By this point in my life it seems like anyone in any other country would have learned their own language, English, and two others. Half of them also know Latin. It's supposedly an intellectual thing to do. Understanding languages. And they say it helps with your brain. Or something. There's probably some useful purposes in the outside world. I'm not familiar with them. Or where I would find them.
In essence, I've never needed to do anything and I put upon myself the easiest challenge. But I'm not enjoying it.
I'm taking Spanish classes in university right now. It's a requirement I should have fulfilled by Summer. I'm just not interested. Maybe its the teachers or students or modern classes, but I'm really losing interest. I move on in a frustrated rush to this week's new prefix or suffix that we're going to attach to verbs, immediately after we finished learning another different conjugative form for them - and right as I'd barely even written all the irregulars down in my notes. Now I'm hardly paying attention to whatever new addition we are about to make. I'm struggling keeping up with the verb meanings in the first place. I'm not stupid.
I mean no disrespect with my language, as I foresee this unfortunately coming off as. Maybe this is just another post complaining about gendered nouns. Maybe my teacher is really unengaging and inefficient. I don't know.
I'm not watching any shows or movies. I don't even watch any English shows. I'm not reading any books. They would be nice, but I feel like there's so much I already would like to (and already may!) read in English. A few minutes a day would be fine...? I'm not doing the apps. The apps would work out. However, there's no better way for me to say it, I feel unmotivated and completely apathetic. Brain wiring...a handy skill...the bare minimum...all this, but I just haven't found myself interested in the straightforward and useful process. Maybe there's some cool cultural tale about the guy who decided decir needed to be conjugated with a J. And I'll go in to next class and learn the word for this noun, which we speak about like a man. Whatever. I don't really care.
I want to restate (and I hope you read this part) that I am trying to speak in good faith here. If there were more neutral terms and phrases that I could think of off the top of my head than the likes of "I don't care," which we associate as negative, I would use those. I mean to say that I feel uncaring towards learning Spanish or any other language despite everything it is supposed to give me. The thought of learning how to talk about wildlife in Spanish doesn't move me to action. It doesn't move me at all. It's a serious, useful, common thing; but somehow I'm not interested. I see this pattern in more than a few parts of my life, so maybe it's deeper than just Spanish. It could be quite major. But that's a topic for a different place.
I suppose my question is what could I do to try and raise my interest level in learning (which I recognize is important despite my stubborn inactivity)? Something I've mentioned? Something else? Why?

2024.05.21 10:31 BIGBOYDADUDNDJDNDBD My girlfriend (20F) had a bad reaction me (21M) saying I may have to go out of state for medical school. What do I do?

So my (21m) girlfriend (20F) and I have been together for about 2 years now. She goes to college about an hour away. I’m currently working as an emt. I’ve always planned on becoming a firefighter but due to a past riddled with knee injuries and now some recent ones it looks that dream is probably being laid to rest. As such I’ve begun looking at other potential career paths. Right now the top of my list would be becoming a PA or possibly going to Medical school down the line and becoming a doctor. Keep in mind I’ve done very minimal college right now so we’re talking at least 4+ more years down the road since I need to get a degree. Reality is there’s a solid chance I’m going have to go out of state for PA or Medical school. I’ve been talking about PA or medical school for a while but I think tonight is the first time she’s realized I may have to go out of state for years. My girlfriend, understandably to an extent isn’t terribly happy to potentially face that reality. She refuses to leave our state and move with me even temporarily, which okay fine I get it you got your life and a career to setup. I can’t expect her to uproot everything and potentially screw her career over. However she seems unwilling to even try or talk about long distance. (Frankly I’m not even sure why we’re worrying this much about what’s a very vague possibility 4+ years down the road but alas). I could tell something was off with her after our first conversation but I just kind of left it alone and we watched a movie. After that we went up to bed and I heard her crying, I tried to comfort her and ask what’s going on and that led to her just saying long distance doesn’t work and she’s not leaving the state and a load of other things. I told her I understand that she doesn’t want to leave and that’s totally fine. She just seems to not even be willing to give trying to work something out a thought. She’s now left and is sleeping on the couch. I really don’t understand how this has escalated this much. I’m just gonna go to sleep and give her some space and address this tomorrow. How do I go about addressing/helping this predicament?

2024.05.21 10:31 According_Junket2861 Need some help identifying this

Hi all,
Disclaimer: I have exhausted Google 😉
A few days ago I stumbled across this guitar at a friends house. She was planning to get rid of it, but I decided to take it home. I had no idea what it was, but it looked quite old yet gimmicky and over the top, so I was curious about it. And I had never come across a guitar with four pick ups in real life before.
The isn't any branding on the guitar at all. All there is, is some hand written text on the inner body, under the fret board. The text appears to be Japanese, and the pots are from Tokyo Cosmos, so I think the guitar was built in Japan.
The guitar resembles a Teisco ET-460 (shark fin), but some details are off. There should be a three way tone switch, but the switch on this one is only two way. There should be a striped fret board out of one piece, this guitar does not have a striped fret board and it is made of two pieces. The body of the guitar is also slightly more rounded than the original ET-460 body from Teisco and the lower fin does not stick out as much as on the original. And then there is the headstock. It has a shape similar to the ET-460 headstock, the distinct 4+2 setup, but on the original, the top cursve goes almost 90 degrees, and on mine it's only abut 45 deg.
So, what is this guitar? It looks a bit like an imitation ET-460, but why would anybody build a knock-off of what was only a cheap guitar in the first place?
I would love to hear what others have to say, or from someone who can read Japanese! 😀
Thanks!
Martin

2024.05.21 10:24 KiriGee Interested in a trade

Top of the world to all! I'm turning 20 this year and I've been looking into doing a trade at some point in the next few years. Electrical sounds like the most interesting to me, but plumbing also seems cool. I'm just curious as to how one would become an electrician? I see that you can study electrical engineering, or go to a trade school like AfricaSkills in George. What's the best route to becoming a qualified electrician? And is electrical engineering a tough degree?
Thanks to any and all answers. Have a good one
