2024.05.21 21:22 Arbrand We Joined a Cult as a Joke [Part 1]

I sat in our dark bedroom, the computer screen glaring with a harsh, white light. A banner flashed before my eyes: “Seek wisdom by understanding yourself.”
“Chloe, check this out,” I called over my shoulder to my girlfriend playing The Sims on her laptop.
She glanced up, her brow furrowing in confusion before giving me a bemused look. “What the hell are you looking at?” she asked.
“It’s some cult,” I replied, unable to hide my fascination. “I fell down a rabbit hole and found this local place downtown. It's a derivative of Aleister Crowley and Golden Dawn bullshit.” I pointed to the Google Street View image of a dilapidated storefront in an ethnic shopping center.
She smirked, a hint of amusement in her eyes. “I never pegged you as the religious type.”
“Check this out,” I continued, clicking through the site. “They have some photos.”
We spent some time going through the albums celebrating various solstices. Most were taken in an odd room with black and white checkered floors, adorned with Egyptian pseudo-artifacts, bathed in the glow of red and purple lights that transformed the scene into a surreal dreamscape.
The people certainly had an alternative vibe. Tattoos were plentiful, but other than that they looked like they came from all different walks of life. Many of them looked like they had their fair share of bullying in high school - no shortage of that. But most of them looked relatively normal aside from the occasional piercing.
One photograph in particular caught my eye. A woman, sitting in a bright red room, sat on an altar, holding a staff in her right hand, wearing nothing. A man was kneeled before her, his arms tied behind him, rope anchored to the ceiling. They were sliding a knife down his back, a small trickle of blood dripping to the floor.
“Damn,” Chloe started. “She’s butt-ass naked.”
“You wanna go?” I asked. “They’re having a get together tonight.”
“You know what, fuck it. Why not? It’s not like we’re doing anything.” she replied.
“Good,” I smiled, standing up. “Because I already ordered an Uber.”
She sighed before opening a drawer and pulling out a small pipe. “I’ll go, but i'm not going sober.”
It was a cold, shitty Seattle winter night. We got dropped off in the parking lot and spent a few minutes looking for the storefront. We finally found it next to a dog groomer and Pho restaurant with some pun for the name I can’t seem to remember.
We entered the shop, which consisted of two narrow isles separated by wood shelves barely big enough for me to fit down. We spent some time looking at the various items, my attention diverting to a vial of elk blood. I remember wondering if they were even allowed to sell this without some type of medical certification they definitely did not have while Chloe shuffled through a bowl of mix and match crystals.
“Can I help you?” I heard a woman say from the back as she emerged from a beaded curtain. She was a short, overweight woman wearing what I could only describe as a sports bra and hula skirt.
“Hi, uh,” I stuttered. “I’m George and this is Chloe. We’re here for the… winter solstice celebration?”
“Oh, goodie! Newcomers!” she said with an out of place, overjoyed expression as she clapped her hands. Chloe and I laughed nervously.
“The door is in the back, but you can come through here just this time.” she said with a smile, arm holding the beaded curtain open.
We walked through a dark hallway, somehow more cramped than the shop, into a rather large room. A gaggle of people were huddled in the back, which Chloe and I quietly shuffled into.
A bearded man paraded around the room, white robes and red headdress cascading into a cloak, knuckles adorned with several large rings gripping a spear, held vertically in front of him. Behind him, another bald man, white robes and yellow cloak, followed behind, white sleeves crossed over his chest.
I glanced at Chloe’s bloodshot eyes, THC clearly flowing through her system. I gave her a knowing look, as if to say Having fun yet? She returned a slow smile.
Without warning, the entire crowd clapped their hands together over their heads as a woman in blue robes walked past, waving a censure leaking white smoke. We awkwardly followed to match the group.
The blue curtains on the back wall opened to reveal an older Asian woman sitting perched on the altar I saw in the photos, again, completely naked. And before you ask, no. She wasn’t attractive. It’s never the ones you hope it is. The red robed man kneeled down and softly kissed her knees.
I glanced back at Chloe. Her smile was so big I was afraid she was going to laugh at any moment. I pinched her on the side and whispered into her ear “Do. Not. Fucking. Laugh”. Honestly, I think I just made it worse. Her face turned beet red as she bit her cheeks.
The ritual went on for another half hour or so. They must’ve said “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law” at least a dozen times.
We were getting kind of bored and were ready to leave before the woman in the blue robes wandered in with a caged chicken.
"No fucking way" I thought. Surely enough, the man in the yellow robes held the chicken high in the air, before slitting its throat and draining blood into a large metallic basin. The man winced as the chicken flailed violently, scratching up his arms, before eventually succumbing to blood loss.
One by one, each person there stood between a white and black pillar saying love and intention in Greek before eating a piece of something, taking a sip of blood, and saying “There is no part of me that is not of the Gods.”
Chloe and I hung back, and politely declined when our turn came. Once all was said and done, they busted out some alcohol and started celebrating. We slipped out into the street, bursting out laughing. After we finally collected ourselves, Chloe whipped out her phone and showed me she took dozens of pictures of the ritual.
We laughed our asses off the entire way home. First thing she did was open her laptop and post the pictures on Twitter, tagging the lodge with the caption “me and the boys chilling right now”.
We returned to the usual rhythm of our lives. I went to work, conducting meetings and answering emails, while Chloe went back to her classes. A few days later, Chloe checked her Twitter and saw that she had gained a few thousand likes. The whole ordeal became a running joke between us.
I would eat fruit snacks and sip on my soda, saying, “There is no part of me that is not of the Gods”. A few weeks later, we had mostly forgotten about it, except for the occasional recounting as a funny story to regale our friends.
One night while Chloe and I were spending our evening the usual way with me on the computer and her on her laptop, I felt her furiously tap my shoulder while staring wide eyed at the window. Confused, I took my headphones off and walked over, pulling back the curtain to reveal 6 people standing in black robes and animal masks watching us from the hillside.
“What do we do, should I call the cops?” Chloe whimpered.
“No, they’re just a bunch of larpers. They’re not going to do shit! Just trying to scare us.” I said angrily as I closed the blinds and hopped back on my computer.
Chloe sat there for a few minutes in a tense pose with her arms folded together. She went to double check the door was locked, before we continued our night as normal.
The next day I got a text from Chloe frantically telling me to come home immediately. When I arrived, there was a squad car parked outside our building. I ran up the stairs to see two officers standing by Chloe in the doorway. I nearly shouted asking what was going on. They lead me inside to show me a massive black symbol drawn on our wall, a six-pointed star made from one continuous line.
We finished our police report and they told us they’d get back to us if they find anything. I’ve been robbed often enough to know that means they’re going to forget about this before they’ve even gotten back into their squad car.
Furious, I stormed over to the shop and banged on the window. The hula skirt woman came over and cracked the door open just enough for me to see one of her eyes.
“What the fuck do you think your little posse is doing!?” I screamed at her. “Breaking into my apartment like that!? You all are fucking psychos!”
“I haven’t any idea what you’re talking about”, she said with a sly grin.
“Oh, yeah?” I said pointing a finger in her face. “If anyone tries any shit like that again I’m going to burn your goddamn shop to the ground, do you hear me?”
She looked at the ground, clearly nervous. I have never blown up at a stranger like this but I could tell my threats were working.
After a moment of silence I stormed off again, back towards home.
“You meddle with forces you do not understand!” she called out from the shop.
I picked up a glass bottle from the sidewalk and chucked it, smashing against her shop window, forcing her to close the door and disappear into the shadows. I’m not particularly proud of how I behaved in this moment, but unless you’ve had someone break into your home and draw shit on the walls, hold on to your judgment.
The next few days passed without so much as a peep from them. Chloe and I began to relax, convincing ourselves that the cult had been scared off. Life seemed to be returning to normal, and the unsettling incident became just another story.

Have You Ever Dreamed of a Safe and Easy-to-Use Laser Engraver?

If you’ve been searching for a laser engraver that isn’t intimidating and doesn’t require you to don a pair of unflattering filter glasses every time you use it, then let me introduce you to the Gluwphy 20w Enclosure Laser Engraver 8-in-1 Class 1 Laser Engraver and Cutter Machine. Trust me; this gadget will change the game for all DIY enthusiasts and beginners alike.

Gluwphy’s Mission: Safety First

Gluwphy aims to make laser engraving accessible and safe for everyone—even kids. Unlike other scorching Class IV lasers, the Gluwphy uses a Class 1 laser, which makes it inherently safer. Essentially, this means you can wave goodbye to the pesky filter glasses that other machines require. Safety is further amplified with built-in flame alarms and automatic focus, ensuring ease of use without compromising on security.

Speed Like No Other

On the topic of speed, let's just say Gluwphy laughs in the face of the competition. While many mini-laser engravers max out at 15,000mm/min, our Gluwphy 20w comes in hot with a staggering speed of 24,000mm/min. What does this mean for you? Less waiting around and more time for exploring your creative projects.

Larger Workspace for Bigger Dreams

If you've ever wrestled with a cramped engraving space, you know how limiting it can be. Gluwphy steps in with a generous placement area of 460x450mm and a working surface of 400x295mm. This amplified space eliminates those frustrating constraints, allowing room for creativity with larger materials and less wastage.

Innovative Design That Saves You Space

With its unique lateral light output design, you can finally ditch the clunky, expensive heightening equipment. This design means the laser and claw disk center point are aligned, sparing you the hassle of constant adjustments. Place your material and get to work—simple as that.

Precision at Its Best

For anyone keen on precise placements and cuts, Gluwphy has your back. The red cross-positioning system allows you to place materials with pinpoint accuracy, removing the guesswork. Plus, it supports red cross walking borders, ensuring that your work area is precise and controllable.

Clear Air, Clear Mind

A built-in smoke filtering system elegantly handles the usual smoke and dust that can cloud your workspace. This cleaner air not only protects you but also extends the lifespan of the exhaust fan. Coupled with an integrated air pump, it makes sure that your engraving stays sharp, and your vision clear.

Superior Engraving Accuracy

Forget about those fuzzy edges with other machines. The Gluwphy offers an engraving accuracy of 0.08x0.08mm and dynamic accuracy of 0.01mm. This ensures your designs are crisp, clear, and repeatable, leaving you less room for errors.

Versatility that Knows No Bounds

Imagine the possibility of engraving on a variety of materials—from wood panels to stainless steel, and even fabrics. The Gluwphy doesn’t limit your creative avenues. A single device that covers a broad spectrum of materials with ease makes it a perfect addition to any DIY enthusiast’s toolkit.
Material Types Example Projects
Wood Panels Custom signs, decorative items
Stainless Steel Personalized jewelry, dog tags
Opaque Acrylic Panels Business logos, awards
Fabrics Custom bags, clothing patches
Paper Detailed invitations, scrapbooking
Stones Engraved keepsakes, home décor
Linden Wood (up to 12mm thick) 3D models, art pieces

Peace of Mind with Warranty

One of the best things about Gluwphy is that it comes with a one-year warranty. If you encounter any hiccups along the way, you’re covered, making it a risk-free investment.
As you can see, the Gluwphy 20w Enclosure Laser Engraver offers a blend of safety, innovation, and functionality. This isn't just a tool; it's your gateway to endless creative possibilities without the daunting learning curve. Excited to get one? You should be!

As a product reviewer, I've had the pleasure of trying out the Stanley 24 oz. Quick Flip Go Water Bottle in the Tigerlily color. This water bottle has become a staple in my daily routine.
The first thing that caught my eye was its sleek design – perfect for carrying on the go. The double-wall vacuum insulation is a real game-changer. Whether I'm sipping on iced water in the summer or a hot cup of tea in the winter, the temperature remains consistent for hours.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the trigger-action lid. It's easy to use and helps prevent spills, making it great for when I'm on the move. Plus, the fact that it's dishwasher safe is a lifesaver. No more scrubbing by hand!
However, there are a couple of downsides. Firstly, the weight of the bottle can be a bit of a struggle for those who prefer a lighter option. Secondly, the dimensions might not fit all car cup holders, which can be a hassle during road trips.
Overall, the Stanley Quick Flip Go Water Bottle has been a reliable companion in my everyday life. Its combination of style, functionality, and durability make it a must-have for anyone looking for a reliable water bottle.

🔗Cold Steel Heavy Duty Nylon Cane with Rubber Ferrule

https://preview.redd.it/v48i5gn34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64aac772c9910fa7f43dc2f916fb8b53b380e7fc
I've been using the Cold Steel Heavy Duty Cane in my daily life, and it has proven to be quite the companion. The nylon handle provides an enhanced grip that makes it convenient to hold, while the steel construction ensures structural strength for long-term use. I particularly appreciate the rubber ferrule, which is designed to be slip-resistant, making it an excellent choice for uneven terrain or icy sidewalks.
One downside is that it might be a bit heavy for some people, especially those who don't need the extra weight for support. However, the overall design and engineering of the cane are top-notch, and it gives me a sense of reassurance knowing I have a sturdy and reliable walking staff whenever I need it.

🔗Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel: Robust, Stainless Steel Outdoor Essential

https://preview.redd.it/onud1it34r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19aa78d8c58949aae696362f44a26b21b9da0dca
This past summer, I found myself on a weekend camping trip and realized I didn't pack a shovel. I needed to dig a small trench around my campsite to divert water. Luckily, a friend had a Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel that he let me borrow. On the first day, he taught me how to use it. The edge was sharp, and the handle felt sturdy. I was surprised by how strong it was. I struggled a bit at first, but it didn't take long before I was able to dig the trench.
After returning from the camping trip and reflecting on the weekend, I realized that the shovel had some flaws. Firstly, it was a bit heavy for a camping trip, and I felt it could cause strain on my back over time. Secondly, it didn't come with a sheath, which was inconvenient since I had to keep it in my vehicle's trunk, where it took up too much space.
Despite these issues, I still appreciated the durability of the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel. It was clear that it was designed for heavy-duty tasks. The edge remained sharp even after I used it heavily. The wooden handle felt comfortable to hold, even though it was a bit on the thick side.
Overall, the Cold Steel Special Forces Shovel was a functional tool, but it could be improved for camping trips or situations where portability is a priority.

🔗Cold Steel Smatchet: Deluxe Edition for Playstation 5

https://preview.redd.it/duzypj644r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4feb4a7502a34a0974f6539f3524c5dc9b0652ab
As someone who thoroughly enjoyed diving into the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV, let me share my experience with this dynamic duo. The deluxe edition for Playstation 5 was a refreshing return to the rich world of Erebonia, where war hero Rean Schwarzer began his new life as an instructor at Thors Military Academy's branch campus.
What stood out to me was how the game expertly handled the aftermath of the Erebonian Civil War and introduced new threats to keep the story alive. Delving into it with the improved RPG gameplay on PlayStation 5 made my journey even more immersive. Plus, the cosmetic DLC available with these iterations ensured that every member of my party was looking their best, adding a unique touch to the experience.
However, like any other game, it wasn't all smooth sailing. There were moments that were a bit challenging, but overall, the Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and IV truly delivered an engaging experience that I thoroughly enjoyed as a fan of the genre.

🔗Heavy Duty Cold Grease Remover for Effortless Cleaning

As a home cook who's always experimenting with new recipes and kitchen tools, I've found myself in a bit of a pickle when it comes to removing stubborn grease from my appliances. That's why I was thrilled to try the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover.
Right off the bat, I found it remarkable how quickly this cold grease remover works. No need for a heat source or any harsh chemicals. In fact, it's effective on all sorts of surfaces - my oven, pots, frying pans, baking trays, stainless steel dishes, cooking surfaces, steam extractors, and even hard-to-clean vents.
I've had my fair share of leaky packages in the past, but the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover was surprisingly well-packed. It comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a trigger spray that's easy to use.
The product has a delightful citrus smell that lifts the spirits while I'm getting my hands dirty in the kitchen. Plus, the grease and grime just seem to vanish as if by magic.
However, there's one small downside to my Shumanit experience. On one occasion, the package was partially leaking, which made me worry about the condition of the other products in the batch. I just hope it was a one-time issue and not a trend.
To sum up, the Shumanit Cold Grease Remover is a truly versatile and effective grease and grime remover. It's a lifesaver for anyone who values a sparkling clean kitchen. Let's just hope the packaging improves in the future.

🔗Insulated Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle: Perfect for Outdoor Adventures

The Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle is a versatile and durable companion for any outdoor excursion. It's been a part of my camping adventures for years, ensuring that my beverages stay the perfect temperature no matter the weather.
The thick stainless steel walls not only keep my iced drinks cold for two days but also keep my hot beverages warm for up to two weeks. Plus, the leak-proof lid doubles as a cup, providing a convenient and easy-to-use option for sipping on the go.
The 2.5-quart capacity is ideal for sharing drinks with friends or keeping a large quantity of your favorite beverage at the ready. I've washed my Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle in the dishwasher without any concerns about rust or BPA exposure, and it continues to perform as well as it did on day one.
Overall, the Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle has become an essential part of my outdoor gear, and I can't imagine spending time in nature without it.

🔗Stanley Vacuum Insulated 1.5qt Bottle: Leakproof and Durable for Any Adventure

https://preview.redd.it/hv1cfgh54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92c3e83a1e6ed9bde65bd49c95962c0425bd9025

For my outdoor adventures, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle 1.5qt Habitat has truly been a game-changer. This insulated beverage container ensures my drinks remain at the perfect temperature for hours on end, whether I'm savoring a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning or enjoying an icy beverage on a sweltering day.
One of my favorite features is the stainless steel construction, which not only makes the bottle sturdy and durable but also ensures it's free of BPA, a nice touch for any health-conscious individual. The double-wall vacuum insulation, another key highlight, works wonders in keeping my beverages at their desired temperatures, even in extreme conditions.
However, I found that the bottle can be quite difficult to clean, especially along the insulated areas. Additionally, the screw cap lid, while functional, can be a bit tricky to twist off after a while, depending on the grip strength. These minor inconveniences aside, the Stanley Legendary Classic Bottle has proven to be an indispensable companion on all my outdoor excursions.

🔗Versatile Cold Welding Formula for Robust Bonds

https://preview.redd.it/4ogfz5u54r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c4866a573a4c06607a53a48abca3bb57ecd3aa95
Recently, I got my hands on the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy. I was intrigued by the fact that it could serve as an inexpensive alternative to welding, soldering, and brazing. To my surprise, this versatile epoxy proved to be a game-changer in my daily life.
One of the most impressive features of the J-B Weld epoxy is its water-resistant nature. I used it to seal a leak in my water pipe, and it worked like a charm. The epoxy's petroleum and chemical resistance made it perfect for my project, as it withstood various tests without any damage.
Another standout feature of this product is its non-toxic and safe-to-use nature. I used it to fix my child's broken toy, and its safety made me feel more comfortable.
However, I did notice that the mixing ratio of the epoxy is quite sensitive. One must be cautious not to deviate too far from the 1-1 ratio of liquid steel/epoxy resin and the hardener. A slight miscalculation could result in a weaker bond or the need for reapplication.
In conclusion, the J-B Weld Original Cold-Weld Formula Steel Reinforced Epoxy is a must-have for DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike. Its ease of use, remarkable strength, and versatility make it a standout product in its category. Despite the minor drawback of the mixing ratio, the benefits far outweigh the inconvenience.

🔗Insulated Bottle for Long-Lasting Beverages

I recently put the Stanley Classic to the test on an outing to the mountains. This bottle is a true companion for outdoor enthusiasts, with its impressive 18/8 stainless steel construction and BPA-free design. The 1.5 quart capacity means it can handle all types of drinks, from hot coffee to icy coolers, and keep them at the optimal temperature for up to two days. The folding handle is a clever added feature that allows for easy carrying without the risk of it rolling away.
One of the standout features of this bottle is its leakproof design, making it a reliable option for packing in a backpack or storing in a truck bed. The wide mouth also makes it easy to fill and clean, which is especially helpful for those who enjoy making their own homemade brews. However, I did notice that the bottle is quite heavy, weighing in at 2 pounds, making it more challenging to carry for longer periods of time.
Overall, the Stanley Classic is an excellent investment for those who love spending time outdoors and need a reliable companion to keep their drinks at the perfect temperature.

🔗Portable Insulated Water Bottle with Silicone Straw

I recently had the chance to put the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle to the test, and I have to say, it impressed me with its performance. The most standout feature of this water bottle is its ability to keep drinks cold for an impressive amount of time. I often struggle to find a water bottle that can truly keep my beverage chilled all day long, but this one did just that. The double-walled and vacuum insulated design does an excellent job of maintaining the temperature of the liquid inside.
Another feature I appreciated is the leak-proof lid. No matter how rough I was with it, it never leaked once. The one-touch silicone push button locking mechanism helped keep my bag and clothes dry, while the straw was a fun and convenient addition. Cleaning it was also a breeze, thanks to the top rack dishwasher safe lids and BPA-free materials.
However, I did experience a downside with the product - it isn't suitable for hot beverages. If you're someone who prefers drinking tea or coffee, this may not be the best option for you. Additionally, I found it slightly difficult to fit the bottle in my usual cup holders, which can be inconvenient during travel or at the gym.
Overall, the Cooper Stainless Steel Water Bottle did an incredible job of keeping my drinks cold and providing a leak-proof, easy-to-clean design. Although there were minor drawbacks, I still enjoyed its benefits and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and stylish water bottle.

🔗Stanley 1.1 Qt. Legendary Classic Canteen - BPA-Free Stainless Steel

https://preview.redd.it/fva5u8074r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=021a8e122aa23b47e0dbf977a9a0b77939f8066e
I recently had the chance to try out the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen, a 18/8 stainless steel bottle that promises to be leakproof, packable, and perfect for outdoor use. At first glance, the canteen looks sleek and sturdy, with a classic design that makes it easy to hold and carry around. It comes equipped with a removeable carrying strap that keeps your hands free and adds a touch of style to the canteen.
One of the standout features of this canteen is its non-insulated stainless steel material, which allows for easy packing while still offering a decent capacity for your favorite beverage. However, I found that the lack of insulation means that the canteen doesn't retain temperature as well as I would have liked. While it's fine for day-to-day use, it's not ideal for taking on long hikes or camping trips where maintaining the temperature of your drink is important.
Another downside to the canteen is the attached cap, which can be a bit tricky to open and close, especially with one hand. Though I appreciate the convenience of having it attached, it would be nice if the cap were more user-friendly and easy to access. Additionally, the metal clips on the carrying strap can be quite loud when walking or hiking, which can be a bit distracting and might not be the most discreet choice for stealthily navigating through the wilderness.
Despite these minor drawbacks, overall I found the Stanley 1.1 Qt. Classic Canteen to be a functional and stylish option for everyday use. It's a good choice if you're looking for a versatile water bottle that won't break the bank, but just remember to manage your expectations when it comes to insulation and noise.

🔗Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen: Triple-Insulated, Wide-Mouth Drink Container with Quick Sip Lid

https://preview.redd.it/g8jdgja74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5900642083119fc5f56b1e9d8f8477efab04f303
The Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen boasts a spacious 950mL capacity, perfect for hydration while on the go. Its quick sip lid adds convenience to everyday use, and the signature flat sides and Duraprene finish ensure a secure grip.
Triple-insulation maintains drinks at their desired temperature for extended periods, making it an ideal choice for both hot and chilled beverages alike. A wide mouth allows for ice cube insertion, while the lid's easy-to-use one-hand opening adds practicality.
Regrettably, some users have experienced issues with the lid's functionality and structure, which may prove a disadvantage for those seeking a seamless drinking experience. Nonetheless, for those seeking a durable, stylish, and functional water bottle, the Corkcicle 32oz Sport Canteen offers an impressive range of features.

🔗Versatile Insulated Water Bottle with Cup Lid

https://preview.redd.it/ba7lnum74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4236dde9fc2a1109edb6d8a02ff4d627c9fb186e
This Stanley Classic Legendary Bottle, aptly named "Nightfall, " has become an essential companion in my daily life. The bottle's robustness and dependability have captivated me, as my newfound favorite keeps the brew piping hot during those frigid mornings or even chills your favorite beverage during scorching summer days.
One of the key features that have blown my mind is its innovative, leak-proof design. By using the twist-and-pour stopper, it ensures that my adventures are safe from any accidental mishaps involving the bottle. Moreover, the slim design makes it the perfect single-handed companion, ensuring a comfortable grip.
However, there are a couple of minor nits. The lid being insulated and doubling as a cup is a fantastic idea, but I found it a tad more tedious than convenient during my first few times. Additionally, while the bottle's sturdiness won my heart, it unfortunately lacks a wider mouth, which might make it a bit more practical for my soup-loving, chunky ingredients cravings.
The Stanley's performance has made me believe it's not just about the product but also about the spirit of adventure it represents - one sip at a time. Despite a few minor quirks, it's a reliable bottle worth every penny spent.

🔗Corkcicle Star Wars Darth Vader Canteen: Sleek and Stylish Insulated Travel Drink Bottle

https://preview.redd.it/xxibmox74r1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6584f5a3f92b026e1f6c93d8578b4827c47490b6
Crafted in the image of the infamous Darth Vader, this Corkcicle Star Wars canteen is not just a stylish way to keep your drinks cool. The 16-ounce canteen promises to keep beverages cold for up to 25 hours or warm for 12, all thanks to its triple-insulated lining. Its stainless steel construction ensures it's not just durable but also perfect to use in any setting, be it by the pool or at the office. The canteen is equipped with a screw-on cap that prevents any liquid from escaping and keeps the temperature consistent inside. The ergonomic design and flat sides make it easy to grip, and its stay-put silicone base ensures it stays securely in your hand, avoiding any spills.
My experience with this canteen has been nothing but stellar. The Star Wars design is not just aesthetically pleasing but also adds a fun touch to my everyday life. The triple-insulation keeps my beverages at their desired temperature for longer, especially during our hot summers. The cap is a great feature that prevents leaks and spills, and the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold. However, I wish the product was dishwasher safe as the paint tends to peel off after a few uses, which can be a bit disappointing.

🔗Premium High-Performance Goalie Blades for Enhanced Ice Skating

I recently tried the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair, and I was blown away by its performance. The superior edge quality is evident as it slices through the ice with minimal resistance, providing sharp, fluid movements that make it a game-changer for any goalie.
Designed specifically for CCM 2-Bolt Goalie Cowlings, this complete set comes with both left and right runners, ensuring perfect fit and seamless functionality. Made in Canada, the high-quality craftsmanship is evident in every aspect of the blade, from its sleek design to its exceptional edge durability.
While the hardest possible edge offered by Step Steel Black is undoubtedly impressive, I also appreciate the added Diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on the mirror side finish, which significantly boosts blade performance by generating a winning combination of low friction and high surface hardness.
What sets Step Steel apart from other blade manufacturers is their innovative aspect ratio, which accelerates pushes across the crease for modern butterfly and hybrid goaltenders. The taller blades and truer profile offer added stability, precision, and width, ensuring less bending or improper sizing upon receiving the product.
Overall, the Step Steel St Goal Blacksteel CCM Replacement Steel - Pair is a game-changing product that combines superior edge quality, innovative design, and unrivaled performance. If you're looking to enhance your goaltending experience, look no further than Step Steel.

🔗Hornady RAPiD Night Guard Safe with RFID Technology and USB Charging

https://preview.redd.it/zbpx4uwukp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=462c0b28d9c9b171886f5efd55485ee8d209504c
The Hornady RAPiD Safe Night Guard is an impressive blend of style and security. I've been using it for a while now, and I must say I am quite impressed with the product. The tempered glass front panel is sleek and elegant, complementing any bedroom decor.
The patented RFID technology is definitely a game-changer. I love being able to unlock the safe without even touching it, which is ideal when you're in a dark room and don't want to fumble around for your keys or access code. The 4 included RFID tags make it quick and easy to program the safe to open for you and your family.
One of the features that really stands out to me is the two USB-A ports for charging my devices. It's incredibly handy to have a place to charge my phone or other gadgets right next to my bed.
On the downside, I do wish the RFID reader and keypad were a bit more discreet. They're still functional, but they're quite prominent on the front panel. It would be nice if they were hidden away a bit more.
The heavy duty exterior housing and hardened interior locking lugs are a great feature, ensuring that the safe is built to last. However, I do wish there was a bit more padding on the interior for the items inside to prevent any potential scratches or damages.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with the Hornady RAPiD Safe Night Guard. It's a fantastic bedside safe that offers quick and easy access, as well as a place to charge your devices. Definitely worth the investment!

🔗Secure Electronic Floor Safe for Valuables

I recently started using this Union Safe Company 1.51 Cu. ft. Electronic Lock Gun Floor Safe in my home after a friend recommended it to me. The first thing that stood out to me was the heavy-duty construction of the safe, which gives a sense of security just by looking at it. The tamper-proof hinges and heavy-gauge bolts are great features that make it difficult for anyone to break in.
One of the major highlights of the safe is its dual-entry lock, which allows you to enter through a digital keypad and also has a keyed override for emergencies. This extra layer of security is a huge plus and gives me peace of mind knowing that my valuables are well protected.
However, there are a few drawbacks that I've encountered while using this safe. The first issue is that the instructions provided with the safe are not very clear or well-written, making it challenging to set up and program the lock correctly. Another minor inconvenience is that the size of the safe might not be ideal for users with limited space in their home.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I am overall satisfied with the Union Safe Company 1.51 Cu. ft. Electronic Lock Gun Floor Safe. It has proven to be a reliable and secure storage solution for my firearms and other valuable items.

🔗Vaultek Wi-Fi Enabled 8-Gun Biometric Gun Safe

I recently had the opportunity to try out Vaultek's NMXi Wi-Fi High Capacity Rugged Smart Safe, and I was impressed by its durability and advanced features. This safe offers a sleek and modern design that is perfect for any gun enthusiast looking to secure their firearms.
The NMXi safe is constructed of heavy-duty 14-gauge steel housing and a 12-gauge door, providing a robust and reliable exterior. One of the standout features for me was the biometric scanner, which offers a quick and secure way to access your firearms. This safe is equipped with a backlit numeric keypad and manual keys for even more flexibility and convenience.
Another impressive aspect of this safe is its rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can last up to a month on a single charge. The modular interior, featuring a pull-out height-adjustable shelf and a twin pistol rack, adds to the overall customization and organization of the safe.
While the NMXi Wi-Fi High Capacity Rugged Smart Safe has numerous pros, there are a few cons to consider. One downside is its premium price, which might deter some users. Additionally, the Wi-Fi connectivity could be a bit glitchy at times, but this is something that may improve with future updates.
In summary, the Vaultek NMXi Wi-Fi High Capacity Rugged Smart Safe is a robust and feature-packed safe that offers a seamless and secure experience for gun enthusiasts. Its sleek design, biometric scanner, and modular interior make it a top choice for those looking for a high-quality and customizable option.

🔗Hornady 16 Gauge Steel Fireproof Keypad Safe

When I received the Hornady Fireproof Keypad Safe, I was eager to test its robustness and functionality. As a product reviewer, I had the opportunity to use it in my daily life, and I must say, I was impressed by its features.
Firstly, the 16 gauge steel body construction and 8 gauge steel door of the safe had a lasting impression on me. The durable black powder coat finish added a sleek touch to its overall appearance. The electronic lock with a key backup provided an extra layer of security that I appreciated, especially when using it to store important documents and valuable items.
One of the standout features of this safe was the interior light, which automatically illuminates when opening the safe. It was a thoughtful design choice that allowed me to conveniently access my items without fumbling around in the dark.
The fireproof rating of 30 minutes in up to 1400 degrees F was an impressive feature, but I also noticed that it was not water-resistant, which could be a potential downside for those living in areas with high humidity.
The removable interior shelf offered flexible and secure storage options for a variety of items, from firearms and documents to jewelry and hobby equipment. I particularly enjoyed the protective carpet interior, as it safeguarded my valuables from potential damage.
One downside that I encountered was the low battery warning, which I found a bit annoying at times. It would be great if the alarm system could last a bit longer on a single set of batteries.
Overall, the Hornady Fireproof Keypad Safe was a reliable and durable choice for storing valuable items. With its heavy-duty construction and convenient features, it made a secure addition to my daily life.

🔗Wasatch 24 Gun Fire and Water Safe with Anti-Theft Electronic Lock

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Wasatch 24 Gun Fire and Water Safe with E-Lock 24EGW, and I must say, I was impressed. This fireproof and waterproof safe is perfect for gun enthusiasts who want to protect their precious belongings from potential damage.
One of the most impressive features of this safe is its backlit electronic lock, which comes with an Alarm-U function. The alarm notifies you of any attempted theft, and the backup key provides an extra layer of security. I loved that it offered external hinges, allowing for a full 180-degree opening, making it effortless to access my safe.
The interior door storage and 3-spoke handle design were another bonus that I found extremely useful. Additionally, the safe is equipped with 3 1.5-inch active locking bolts and 2 dead bolts that effectively deter any potential intruders.
However, I did notice that the safe is quite heavy, which can make transportation difficult. The size of the box also seemed to be larger than originally estimated, which was a bit of a hassle.
Overall, my experience with the Wasatch 24 Gun Fire and Water Safe with E-Lock 24EGW has been positive. I feel confident that my valuables are safely guarded, thanks to its impressive fire and water resistance capabilities. While there were a few minor drawbacks, they do not outweigh the fantastic features of this safe.

🔗Hornady Rapid Safe Ready Vault: The Ultimate Smart Firearm Safe

https://preview.redd.it/c531cqvwkp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=585129018c5dcb18afa4af7c494984bfef1e4186
I've had the opportunity to use the Hornady Security RAPiD Safe in my own home, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer. First things first, this safe provides top-notch security with its patented RFID technology. But it's not just a tough exterior, it's also incredibly user-friendly.
What I love most about this safe are the features that make my daily life easier. The neoprene floor mat prevents my guns from slipping around, making storage a breeze. Plus, the convenient digital keypad and backup mechanical key let me easily get to my firearms when I need them.
But just like any product, there were some minor drawbacks. The safe is a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth the investment. And some users may find the digital aspects a bit troublesome, especially if you're not tech-savvy.
Overall, this Hornady Security RAPiD Safe has been an essential addition to my home. It provides peace of mind and convenience, making it a winner in my book. And if you're in the market for a top-quality gun safe with all the bells and whistles, I highly recommend giving this one a try.

🔗Solid Wood Mahogany Mahogany Furniture Clock Safe for Handgun Concealment and Storage

https://preview.redd.it/2c5fbp9xkp1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=438b6ee64b1efd12e7f80a51968ea3c7479e667d
As a gun owner myself, I found the Kraiovim Peace Keeper to be a clever and practical solution for concealing your valuables. The solid wood construction with a rich mahogany stain not only provides an aesthetically pleasing touch, but also ensures that the clock is sturdy and long-lasting.
What caught my attention the most, though, is the reliable quartz movement paired with a magnetically latched, hinged front panel. This feature allows you to safely conceal your gun while still being able to set the time, and it adds an extra layer of security to the overall design.
While it's perfect for its intended purpose, I must admit that I have encountered some minor flaws. It's quite bulky and takes up a lot of space, which might not be ideal for smaller rooms. Additionally, the fact that it's a mass-produced Amazon item might deter buyers who are looking for more unique or locally crafted products.
Overall, the Kraiovim Peace Keeper is a reliable and stylish option for concealing your firearm and other valuable items. Just be prepared to make a few adjustments and compromises for its practicality.

🔗Hiding Place Clock - Mahogany Concealment Gun Safe

As a gun owner who values security and style, I recently came across the Concealment Clock and decided to give it a try. At first glance, I was skeptical about the functionality of a clock concealing a gun. However, after receiving the product and spending a few days using it, I was pleasantly surprised by its unique and innovative design.
The first thing that caught my attention was the solid and sturdy construction of the clock. It's built with high-quality materials that give it a luxurious, polished look. The high-precision quartz movement is a plus, ensuring that the clock keeps perfect time. The fact that it also includes an analog clock face with Roman numerals adds a classic and elegant touch.
One of the most interesting features is the magnetic latch closure on the front panel, providing a secure way to conceal the compartment for your gun. It's simple yet effective, and the keyhole on the back of the clock ensures that the panel stays closed when not in use.
My experience with the Concealment Clock has only been positive. However, I did encounter a minor issue with the battery compartment. The screws inside needed to be screwed in a little harder for the battery to fit securely. This was only a minor inconvenience, and I was able to solve the problem quickly.
In conclusion, the Concealment Clock offers a stylish and functional way to hide your gun at home or in the office. It's well-built, works perfectly, and even has the added benefit of being a practical and stylish clock. Although the battery compartment faced a minor hiccup, it didn't detract from the overall quality of the product. Overall, I'm highly satisfied with my purchase of the Concealment Clock.

🔗Secure Shotgun Wall Safe with RFID Technology

As a gun enthusiast, I recently gave the Hornady Rapid Safe Shotgun by RFID a try in my home. The first thing that stood out to me was its slim design, allowing me to easily store it in tight spaces. However, I wasn't impressed with its small size, as it could only fit my shotgun sideways, making it quite cramped.
One of the unique features of this safe is its RFID technology, which provides touch-free entry using an RFID-enabled wristband, key fob, or sticker. I thought it was pretty cool to be able to unlock the safe with a simple wave of my hand, although it would be even better if it had a backup option in case the batteries ran out.
The construction of the safe appeared solid, with the exterior housing made of 14-gauge steel and two internal hardened locking lugs. However, I found the touch-free entry to be quite loud, which might not be ideal for people who value discretion.
Installation was a breeze, thanks to the pre-drilled mounting holes. I was able to easily install the safe in both horizontal and vertical positions, making it versatile for various storage locations. The fact that it exceeds ASTM International safety standards for child and pry resistance was also a comforting feature.
Overall, the Hornady Rapid Safe Shotgun with RFID has its pros and cons. While the slim design and RFID technology caught my attention, some other aspects, such as the small size and loud entry, were less impressive. Nonetheless, it's a solid choice for anyone looking for a quick-access shotgun safe.

As a homeowner with a growing family, I've always been conscious about the safety and security of our household items, especially the ones that are valuable or potentially hazardous to our little ones. That's why I decided to invest in the Stalwart Biometric Desk Mount Gun Safe, and boy, am I glad I did!
One of the first things that struck me about this gun safe is its smart biometric design. With three ways to unlock - fingerprint sensor, a keypad, or a backup key - it offers more than enough flexibility for me to access my weapons quickly and securely. The fingerprint sensor is particularly impressive, granting me quick access to my handgun when I need it most. Additionally, the inclusion of two backup keys ensures I won't be locked out if the electronics fail.
The Stalwart gun safe is not just smart, but also highly durable. Constructed from 14-gauge carbon steel with anti-pry bars and bolstered interior hinges, this safe is designed to withstand even the most determined intruder. What's more, it also comes with anti-impact latches and an impact detection system, which sets off an alarm if the safe is bumped or tampered with. This added layer of security has given me the peace of mind I've been looking for.
However, it's not all perfect with this product. The only issue I've encountered so far is its size. The safe can hold up to two handguns, but for someone like me who also needs to store ammo and other accessories, it can get a little cramped inside. But this is a minor concern, especially when comparing to the numerous benefits this product offers.
In conclusion, the Stalwart Biometric Desk Mount Gun Safe has been an invaluable addition to my home. Its smart design, robust construction, and added security features make it a reliable choice for those looking for a safe and efficient solution to store and access their firearms. Highly recommended!

Imagine waking up each morning to a beautifully functional timepiece that also doubles as a secure storage space for your valuable items. That's the experience I've had with the Tactical Walls 1410M Clock Standard - Black, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.
The first thing that stands out about this product is its elegant, minimalist design. The sleek black clock blends seamlessly into any room, and the hidden compartments are cleverly concealed behind the clock face. The hidden compartments can hold an assortment of items, from firearms to personal belongings, providing secure storage in plain sight.
One of the key features that I love about this clock is its magnetic lock. It ensures that the compartments stay securely closed, providing peace of mind knowing that my valuables are safe. However, the lock can be a bit tricky to operate at first, but with practice, it becomes second nature.
While I've had a great experience with this Tactical Walls Clock, there are a couple of cons to mention. The first is the size of the clock face, which is a bit smaller than expected. It might not be the best choice for those who are visually impaired or have difficulty seeing small objects.
Another downside is the durability of the product. The clock face and compartments are made of thin plastic, which can be a bit concerning for those who expect a more robust design. I've also noticed that the Velcro holding the clock face in place seems a bit weak, which might result in the clock face coming loose over time.
In conclusion, the Tactical Walls 1410M Clock Standard - Black is a stylish and functional storage solution for those who value both aesthetics and practicality. Despite the small drawbacks, I've had a positive experience with the product and would recommend it to others seeking concealed storage options for their valuable items.

The Vaultek Barikade Series 1 Biometric Safe has been my go-to for secure storage of my handgun and essential documents. The compact design lets me store a handgun up to 8 inches long and other small valuable items, thanks to the built-in lid organizer. The smart Sense digital keypad is a game-changer, requiring only a simple tap for quick access and ease of use. The biometric fingerprint scanner efficiently stores up to 20 fingerprints, ensuring only authorized access.
I appreciate the 18-gauge rugged steel construction and anti-pray reinforced construction, providing enhanced security and peace of mind. The tamper detection and included security cable add an extra layer of protection to keep my valuables safe. One downside I noticed is that the battery life may not be as long as I'd like, but overall, the Vaultek Barikade Series 1 Biometric Safe has been a reliable and practical choice for my daily life.

I recently had the chance to test out the Vaultek VS20 Non-Biometric Smart Safe in my daily life. First off, the Bluetooth 2.0 feature makes it super convenient to manage the safe from my smartphone within its Bluetooth range. Plus, the compact design allows me to securely store my handgun, magazine, passport, and cash, making it travel-friendly and easily mountable.
The heavy-duty 16-gauge carbon steel construction feels extra tough and rugged, ensuring long-lasting protection for my belongings. The automatic opening lid and responsive LED lighting allow for quick access to my valuables at any time, whether it be at night or during the day.
However, there are a few areas that could use improvement. For instance, the battery life could be a bit longer than 6 months under normal use, and the manual keys could be a bit more responsive. Overall, I'm quite happy with this product, and it has definitely made my life easier when it comes to safeguarding my valuable items.

I recently had the opportunity to try out the Hornady Rapid Safe Compact Ready Vault with WiFi, and it exceeded my expectations in both convenience and security. The built-in RFID technology allowed for lightning-fast access, and the compatibility with the RFID bracelet and key made it even more convenient. However, the heavy-duty steel construction and hardened steel locking mechanism provided unparalleled protection against unauthorized users.
One of the highlights of this product was the user-programmable keypad, which allowed for personalized security codes to be input. Additionally, the SQUARE-LOK organizing system made it easy to store and access my firearms and other essentials. While the WiFi and RFID technology made the experience more streamlined, it also required me to be vigilant about ensuring the safety of my WiFi network.
Overall, the Hornady Rapid Safe Compact Ready Vault with WiFi provided a perfect balance between convenience and security, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a reliable gun safe solution. However, it's essential to consider the potential risks that may arise from the WiFi connectivity and take necessary precautions to protect your valuable items.

2024.05.21 06:36 Hot-Adhesiveness-438 Small Repairs

Hi
What do you do if you have 'small repairs' but it requires tools or expertise you don't have.
I need to fix a rotting window ledge. Found a good YouTube video but it requires a table saw to cut the wood small enough for the patch. I don't have that. I don't really know how to pick the wood that is best for a window ledge. I can use a chisel, mix putty, paint/prime and use a hand sander but without the other parts I'm a bit stuck.
I need to remove a bunch of insulation from the ceiling of my basement. Rodents got in there before I moved in and made nests. It is a mess. I know I 'can' do it but I don't think I can do it right. Especially without making a mess or knocking into existing wiring/pipes.
I'd hire someone for both but I just don't know who or which type of worker will do these smallish jobs.
TIA for your thoughts

2024.05.21 06:18 Muerteds [FN] What brings us together today

"There's no way out but forward," admitted Partheon, "I have checked every crack, and every stone. We are sealed in. Excepting that way, of course."
Partheon pointed, and five more sets of eyes followed his finger down a dark corridor of dripping wet stone. The floor was smooth sandy grit. Two torches in sconces lit the immediate area.
Sir Fingle clanked a bit as he moved forward, "Then forward we shall press, for I shall not be daunted by the unknown."
"Unknown is the nature of many things, but this reeks of malevolence," mused Zertan, "The unknown is not to be feared, but malice warrants caution."
It was true. This was not normal. For one, none of them knew how they came to be standing in the corridor. It was simple enough- they were seated at a table, then they were here.
There was more to it than that, of course. Partheon had been dicing in the back room of a tavern that catered to well-heeled patrons who liked to slum it. The fare was top-notch, and the casual violence that often marked truly disreputable dens of iniquity was very rare, kept so by watchful yet unobtrusive men. However, the back room allowed the social upper crust to act as if they were in a raucous den of vice. Vice was certainly on display, which was why Partheon was making a killing at dicing. The excitement was such that no one paid close attention to his dice when he rolled. Served them right anyways- they wanted debauchery. Debauchery cost, and Partheon was simply an agent of that cost.
On a break from his hot streak- even slightly drunken nobility could lose too much to keep their jovial mood- Partheon was trying his hand at an even tougher mark. She was young, rich, and remarkably good at understanding that Partheon was not the class of patron one expected at The Gliding Crane. She smelled predator, and rather than run, dandled him on a finger as a plaything. Partheon was smitten.
Her voice was breathy in his ear as she nipped it, "I know that you have friends. Don't run, I know they are better behaved than yourself."
Her fingers walked over one of his shoulders and down his chest like a graceful spider, and Partheon shivered.
"This is perfect for a man with friends. Duke Mangiolais, my dear uncle, is looking for people. People who have a reputation for solving problems in creative ways."
Partheon smelled danger, and perfume. The perfume was winning.
"I know you're a creative man," she looked him in the eyes and her own blue-eyed intensity smoldered, "Creative enough to have better dice than anyone else here."
Partheon gulped and she smiled wider.
"It's quite alright, poppet, I won't hurt you. But you had better go tell your friends that you have a big day tomorrow. The Duke will be expecting you before lunch."
When Partheon returned to the rooms at the Crying Gull to let everyone know what had transpired, Deinara was the first to skewer him.
"You couldn't be happy with enjoying a break from all the hardship you can't stop moaning about, could you?" Deinara chided, "You had to push for more, always more. You had to get us embroiled in another scheme!"
Zertan urged calm, "Center yourself, wise one. Partheon will not change who he is overnight. You only increase your own suffering to take his failings upon yourself."
Partheon sputtered, "Failings! Hey, do you have any idea how much money I just made?"
"Enough to interest a Duke," mused Fingle.
Cordray nodded, "Like as not the Duke was already interested, but he doesn't want to be seen officially asking the likes of us for anything. Having one over on Lightfoot over here is just another feather in his hat."
Thistle looked up excitedly from rummaging for something in a pack. It was not her pack, but no one seemed to bother her about it.
"Does this mean I get to meet a Duke? I've never met a Duke! Will there be hazards involved?"
"Yes, Mistress Pywackett, there are always hazards in meeting with Dukes, Earls, or Margraves," assured Fingle, "But it seems we have no choice."
The next morning, seated around a table in the drawing room, wondering what the man could want, conversation was quiet and pensive. The Duke entered hurriedly, without anyone announcing his impending arrival. Sir Fingle thought that the mark of a very practical man with much to do.
"I am afraid, friends, that I lack the time and wit to give you the proper welcome you no doubt warrant. I am aware of your deeds," he looked at Partheon and smiled, "but also aware that you have managed to escape doom and ruin many times to accolades and renown. In short, you are capable people, and your reputation is well-deserved.
"You thwarted the plans of the Lord of the Fell Marches. Your actions led to the dissolution of the Barony of Griswaller to good King Raeglestan. Lords Fendrip and Bell are both now no longer oppressing their populace with their war. And, let's see, yes, the Faery Queen now owes you a debt, and people may pass through the Wending Woods without peril.
"You are a menace to nobility," the Duke's congenial tone never changed, and and his eyes remained casting about as if he were hunted here in his own drawing room.
Sir Fingle tried to interject, "Realize, good Duke, that our causes have been just and true.…"
"Yes, yes, I know," interrupted the Duke, "You're all very good people. Especially you, Sir Knight. That's why it pains me to have to make sure you have skin in the game."
Thistle piped up, "Games? Will there be cake?"
Partheon brightened, "If it's games you need, my Duke, I am your man."
The Duke smiled wanly, "Not games, exactly. A race to see who is worthy. This isn't my idea, but I must see it done. You're all just so very... plebeian! None of you considers how your actions affect the state of the world at large. You will."
And with that, the drawing room dissolved, and the dark corridor stretched ahead. Deinara held back.
"I won't be manipulated by that man! I can sit here for ages if needs be, my patience can bear it."
As if her words triggered something, or were simply coincidental, the wall ending the corridor began to move towards them, grating quietly over the smooth sandy grit.
Cordray backed up a step from where he had been inspecting the floor, "Now I know why I cannot see any spoor."
Thistle marched up to the advancing wall and pushed on it, her tiny form comically straining. She slid back along the smooth stone floor, sand grating under he sandals. She gave up and moved back, "I mean, I had to try."
Zertan nodded, "So must we all try. But I think that we are not meant to stop it. The unknown awaits us. Sir Fingle, if you would be so kind as to catch."
With that, Zertan grabbed a torch from the wall sconce and lobbed it softly towards Fingle. He then deftly plucked the other one out. As the tallest present, they held the torches above eye level, to avoid blinding anyone in the gloom.
They advanced, Sir Fingle's shield at the ready in front of him, torch lighting the way. Deinara and Cordray came just behind him, weapons to hand. Deinara's oaken staff prodded suspect places on the floor or wall. Cordray kept his small axes in either hand, ready to engage what might get past the brave knight in front.
Partheon already had a dagger in each hand, and tested more around his person, "I'm really not sure that we should be moving so quickly when we don't know what awaits ahead."
Zertan held his torch aloft and herded Thistle away from the advancing wall when she got too curious at its function to remember to step back, "We have no choice, Master Lightfoot. The wall will not stop."
Indeed, Thistle had lost two of her favorite pocket stones placing them in front of the wall. They simply went under the wall, puffs of dust escaping as they were ground into powder.
The corridor was growing shorter, as it was apparent from the dim shadows at the edges of the torches' light. The moving wall segment was picking up speed. A cautious walk had turned into a trot, then a full jog for every one. Cordray and Thistle, being the smallest and shortest were full-on running by the time the corridor came to a halt. The light showed nothing else- indeed, if they were indoors, the chamber they had entered was huge. No echo returned from the sound of Fingle crashing onto the ramp in front of them. Cordray, running as well his small legs would carry his slight frame, had slammed nose-first into Fingle's backside.

2024.05.21 04:46 TamiGoGo HALLUGREG theory (There’s evidence to suggest that the mimic used Dittophobia gas on Gregory while he was GGY)

HALLUGREG theory (There’s evidence to suggest that the mimic used Dittophobia gas on Gregory while he was GGY)
HALLUGREG THEORY: The Mimic used the gas from Dittophobia on Gregory while he was being controlled as GGY
Key:
GGY: Gregory under the control of the mimc
‘GGY’: Book from Tales from the pizzaplex
TFTP: Tales From the Pizzaplex
CC: The Crying child (fnaf 4 protag)
SB: Security Breach
The premise behind HalluGreg theory is the idea that The Mimic used the gas featured in the last TFTP book, Dittophobia, on Gregory while he was GGY. Using evidence from the book itself, parts of the game, and ‘GGY’, it is implied Gregory endured the same torture Rory experienced under William Afton. To understand why this is the case, it’s necessary to understand the experiments in Dittophobia themselves.
To summarize, the Dittophobia experiments, or hallucination experiments, were a series of studies designed to gauge how children react under intense amounts of fear. The subjects in this study were unwilling, and all those who participated were kidnapped or manipulated into it. The experiments were conducted by William Afton and it’s implied that he even used the gases administered in the study on his own kids, most notably CC and Michael Afton. We see in Michael’s logbook that he knows what the nightmare animatronics look like, concluding that he must have been under the influence of the gas at some point. For cc, we play as him in fnaf 4, experiencing the nightmares caused by the dittophobia gas.
Connecting this, it has long been theorized that the mimic is copying some parts of William. Most notably with its digital persona, Glitchtrap, and its construction of the Afton family in the sticky note room. This theory speculates that the mimic gained access to yet another part of Afton’s life, the part of his life torturing young children in the Sister Location Basement.
First, I’d like to emphasize the clear connection Gregory has to one of the victims of the experiment, CC. Gregory is a near perfect copy of CC, carrying many of the motifs that make up CC’s character. Both boys are fighting against robotic entities or what they perceive to be robotic entities, both have a bear companion, and both were used to further the main antagonists’ goals (GGY for Mimic and the dittophobia experiments for cc). It’s also been pointed out that they have extremely similar appearances. Gregory and cc both have brown hair with a strand falling down the middle, they also wear similar shirts with Gregory copying the two striped shirt that was unique to cc originally.
By definition, they are parallels, however, I’d like to emphasize that them being parallels does not mean they cannot coexist. With this in mind, there is a suggested connection between them. Not all parallels mean correlation, but it allows for a base to structure this theory which will further be supported by hard evidence. With that in mind, I’d like to point out another character that Gregory parallels too, that being David Murray. For the sake of keeping this concise, Gregory and David are parallels to each other due to their appearances and their relationship with the mimic. I won’t go into detail as the David parallelism is not a massive part of this theory, however, AnotherDavid theory explains the connection between the two quite nicely. There is a thread that goes more in depth about this linked below:
Reddit link: https://www.reddit.com/fnaftheories/s/pR2UqkFFeN
Twitter thread link (recommended because there is more visual evidence): https://x.com/gregorysarmy/status/1741712311344308356?s=46
The connection between David and Gregory is important because there are direct references to David in Dittophobia, which in turn, relates Gregory to Dittophobia as well. In the book, both Rory and David wear the exact same zebra pajamas. In fact, there is a lot of emphasis placed on these specific pajamas because Rory puts them on twice during separate occasions in the book (unfortunately, I cannot attach images in the manner I would like to, so I will use MLA cited quotes from the book. Scroll up to the images above to see the visual evidence)
Quote 1: “Then he put on his favorite pjs-they were black-and-white zebra striped.” (Dittophobia pg 120)
Quote 2: “Edwin looked at David’s rumpled bed and the zebra pajamas that lay crumpled on the floor next to it. As David started to skip past Edwin, who grabbed Edwin’s shoulder. He pointed at the pajamas. “What have I told you?” Edwin asked.” (The mimic pg 142)
The zebra pajamas that Rory wears are also noted to be the only pajamas that fit him in his teenager form, implying that they are big. This could be a reference to the fact that David was tall for his age before he died and he also wore that brand of PJ.
Quote 3: “David, remarkably big for his age, in spite of having two short parents, wasn’t an easy carry. He weighed close to fifty pounds, and he was three- and-a-half-feet tall. Pretty soon, Edwin, only five-foot-five himself, wasn’t going to be able to cart his son around. Perhaps he could build a robot to do the job for him.” (The mimic pg 126)
To add on, Rory also says things that are eerily similar to what David says in “the mimic”. In “the mimic”, David is described to talk about fairies in the walls of Edwin’s factory. Rory describes a similar thing in dittophobia when exploring the ‘house’. They both talk about imaginary “pipe fairies”.
Quote 4: “It’s the pipe fairy, Daddy.” (The mimic pg 121)
Quote 5: “The knocking sound wasn’t a knocking like a person would do. There wasn’t some little trapped fairy or something in the walls. (Although the idea of that made Rory smile.)” (Dittophobia pg 126)
To clarify, I’m not trying to push the claim that David WAS part of the experiment. However, the zebra pajamas are symbolism for David in general. The same can be said for the “pipe fairies”. Due to the fact that Gregory is heavily related to David Murray, and there’s multiple David references in the book, Gregory is implicated in the dittophobia experiments.
Moving on to more direct evidence regarding Gregory himself, there is evidence that these experiments took place within the pizzaplex. This means the mimic would have access to them and would have the ability to reenact them itself. In the endo nursery, there is a picture of a young girl in the same exact bed used in the fnaf 4. Rory ALSO has this same bed in dittophobia which implies this specific design was part of the experiment. This means that whoever was involved in the construction of the pizzaplex somehow had access to the details of the experiments and went as far as to place imagery of an experiment in progress in the endo nursery. Considering that the mimic is the only one who seems to be copying William, it’s safe to say that it was the reason that this imagery was put up. Even if it wasn’t, it obviously saw the image considering the graffiti placed on the walls displaying Glitchtrap. (Image 1) With that in mind, the way that the fear experiments work in general would explain why there are numerous active endos in the same location that this picture is found in. When the gas in dittophobia stops working, Rory realizes that his nightmares were simply moving mannequins on a set course. For the pizzaplex, these mannequins could be replaced with the naked endos.
“Even though it made no sense, Rory was still terrified of the creatures. Knowing they were nothing but motorized mannequins didn’t take away his terror. He guessed that after so many years, the dread was too much a part of him to go away that quickly.” (Dittophobia pg 149)
It’s also a possibility that the staffbots themselves could have also been used. Numerous staffbots in the game have the words “in your dreams” (image 2) inscribed on them which seems to be referencing dittophobia in the way the experiments were simply illusions in the children’s minds, not based on reality. Hence being in their dreams. Ironically, the endo section is also the section that Gregory seems the most scared of. We get some of the most characterizing dialogue out of him here.
It’s also ironic that the reason Gregory has to go through the endo section in the first place is because Moon kidnapped Freddy. Moon, a character who makes it their goal to put Gregory to sleep, might be yet another reference the experiments as well, perhaps even enforcing them considering the endo section is heavily Moon themed.
Besides the bed in endo nursery, there are other references to fnaf 4 as well. For example, littered throughout Ruin and SB there are various nightmarionne plushies. Nighmarionne is a character who originated from fnaf 4 (image 3)
As a side note, it’s also notable that Rory’s name is extremely similar to Gregory’s. While that’s not concrete evidence, it’s an interesting detail to include.
Another important detail to mention is that the mimic was looking for ways to induce compliance in its followers. While it seems like the mimic was originally looking for ways to make Vanessa submissive, it may have also been looking for ways to make Gregory submissive as well. It’s not confirmed when Gregory was kidnapped and made into a follower, and it’s possible that he was kidnapped before the pizzaplex was made. This could mean that the email sent in AR by Luis talking about Vanessa’s search history may have occurred not just because Vanessa was resisting the mimic, but because Gregory was being defiant as well. (Image 4) Using the hallucination gas on Gregory would crush this defiance as seen in Dittophobia. Rory can barely function, let alone escape when the fumes are being expelled into the house. This means that Gregory would be trapped in a constant state of exhaustion and confusion which is exactly what the mimic wants.
“Rory risked slipping an arm from beneath his covers to turn off his bedside lamp. He closed his eyes, letting the steady hiss from the vents lull him to sleep as the drowsiness he’d felt all day finally claimed him.” (Dittophobia of 121)
Even with all this evidence, there’s not enough to conclude that Gregory experienced these experiments without a reliable location for them to be preformed. Even though the endo nursery may seem like a good place for them to occur because of all the cameras and children toys, there’s no actual bed for Gregory to sleep in nor a way for the nursery to be gassed. It’s also pretty obvious the children toys present in the nursery are for the endos developing their intelligence, not actually for real kids.
However, there is another location that matches all the criteria needed for these experiments to be performed, and that would be in the mimics lair. (Image 5) In the book dittophobia, Rory describes the layout of his room as having 2 doors, a vent from above, a closet in the middle, and a bed behind him. (Basically a copy of the fnaf 4 room) In the mimic’s lair, as seen in the burntrap ending pre-Ruin, it is set up similarly. There is a small bed directly under the sinkhole, two doors, a vent from above, and an interactive camera station that would replace the closet. (Image 6) The blue bed with stars present in burntraps lair is heavily theorized to be the bed Gregory used as GGY because it is child sized and the mimic seems to make its followers sleep in the pizzaplex considering the existence Vanny’s room in Fazerblast. (Image 7)
With that being said, the mimic has cameras on the opposite side of the lair which it could use to observe Gregory like Afton did with his victims. We see the mimic utilize these cameras to hack into Freddy during the boss fight. (Image 8) Additionally, there is a vent that leads to Gregory’s ‘room’ could be used to administer gas similarly to how it’s administered in Dittophobia. (Image 9)
Inside the Burntrap room, there is also a gas canister where the Dittophobia gas would be held for use. (Image 10) There’s also the fact that Gregory doesn’t really recognize the mimic in Ruin or SB. It’s possible the gas made the mimic look entirely different in Gregory’s eyes. Additionally, there’s evidence to suggest that Gregory is being gassed DURING the burntrap fight. When burntrap leaves its charging station, purple fumes are present, meaning that Gregory could have been hallucinating the entire time. (Image 11) This could explain why the fight itself is so nonsensical. It’s all being made up in Gregory’s head, Gregory is experiencing a nightmare he has had over and over again during his time as GGY. This would also WHY Gregory draws Burntrap after SB and why Burntrap is so inaccurate to the mimic. He is drawing the fake nightmares only he remembers experiencing. (Image 12) It would also provide some insight as to why Gregory doesn’t remember anything relating to hacking into the animatronics, killing counselors, or the mimic. His mind is foggy because the mimic keeps gassing him. Dittophobia gas has been shown to make people FORGET things.
At the end of Dittophobia, Rory, despite finding out the truth about his situation, turns back on the gas. As a result, he seems to forget everything that happened. He’s reduced back to the state he was in when the gas was first administered when he was seven.
“Rory’s gaze landed on his red backpack. He frowned. Hadn’t he gone to school today? He chewed on the inside of his cheek. He couldn’t remember. Rory sighed and shrugged. It didn’t matter. What mattered was that he needed to get in bed. Rory left the great room and started scampering down the long left-side hall, eager to get to his room. His hand trailed along the curved wood chair rail as he went. Pausing by the bathroom door, Rory canted his head and tried to remember whether he’d brushed his teeth already. He was pretty sure he had. So why had he been in the kitchen?” (Dittophobia pg 156)
Dittophobia doesn’t just make people sleepy or hallucinate, it makes people FORGET. The mimic utilized this to make sure Gregory couldn’t wander away or disobey him. It used the same strategy Afton used to manipulate his victims.
Finally, I’d like to bring up the fact that we seemingly get extra insight into Gregory’s hallucinations in the book ‘GGY’. In ‘GGY’, Gregory writes an interesting story related to his situation. (Image 13) He claims that he was the most favored apprentice of some wizard and that he was involved in fighting a conspiracy on another planet against a tangled entity. This, obviously, didn’t actually happen, but it’s clearly a dramatized version of what is ACTUALLY happening to Gregory. The story he writes is based on reality but it is distorted to make it seem nonsensical. This mimics the nightmares Rory experiences. The mannequins that visit him during the night DO exist, but they are distorted by the gas. It’s possible that the same thing happened to Gregory.
Perhaps the gas truly did make him believe he was fighting some wild, nonsensical tangled villain on another planet. After all, the blob, otherwise known as the tangle, is right above where Gregory sleeps. It’s possible that it too, was involved in torturing Gregory and guarding his prison.
To conclude, it seems that the mimic set up a room in its lair that copies the Dittophobia room so it could experiment on Gregory. It was made to reduce Gregory’s will and make him submit to the mimics control. As a result, the gas made Grgeory forget many of his actions in “GGY” and beyond. It also made it incredibly harder for Gregory to escape due to the sedating properties present in the gas.
TLDR: The mimic made a mini FNAF 4 in its lair to sedate/control Gregory like Afton did to kids while he was alive.
Additional info: I didn’t want to clog up this post but here are a few other pieces of evidence that are notable but not important enough to include in my opinion. Mostly just color and physical similarities.
1.) Rory talks on a walkie talkie like device to his friend Wade when contacting the outside world for the first time in ten years. The first conversation they have mimics the conversation Gregory and Cassie have when they reunite in Ruin. 2.) The elevator to escape to the outside world is broken due to a lack of power. Could be slightly referencing the elevator ending in Ruin 3.) Both the mimic’s experiments and Aftons experiments would take place underground according to this theory. 4.) There’s a lot of pieces of furniture that match Gregory’s color scheme in dittophobia. One of them is even blue with white stripes. 5.) both Rory and Gregory are described to be some of the shortest in their class. 6.) Both Rory and Gregory seem to be fond of bunnies. 7.) In the bad ending, Gregory draws himself sleeping next to a green leaking gas. This could be a reference to the experiments where a gas would be leaking into his room while he slept normally.
Additional quotes:
“All he needed to do was get the radio working. If the batteries were still good (please, please be good, he silently begged), he could at least try to reach Wade. If Wade was real, maybe he’d still have his radio. If he wasn’t, maybe someone else would answer Rory.” (Dittophobia pg 145)
“The radio spit a couple of buzzing sounds, then Rory was able to hear a voice clearly. “Rory! Is that you? Really?” “Wade?” “Yeah, dude,” Wade shouted. “Where are you?” “You’re real?” Rory asked.” (Dittophobia pg 145)
“-was labeled UNDERGROUND TESTING FACILITY. So that’s where he was! He was underground!” (Dittophobia pg 143)
“The fact that this monster was bunny-like made it the worst of the three for Rory because he loved bunnies.” (Dittophobia pg 110)

2024.05.21 01:16 TamiGoGo HALLUGREG THEORY: The Mimic used the gas from Dittophobia on Gregory while he was being controlled as GGY

HALLUGREG THEORY: The Mimic used the gas from Dittophobia on Gregory while he was being controlled as GGY
Key: GGY: Gregory under the control of the mimc ‘GGY’: Book from Tales from the pizzaplex TFTP: Tales From the Pizzaplex CC: The Crying child (fnaf 4 protag) SB: Security Breach

(Image 7)

We see the mimic utilize these cameras to hack into Freddy during the boss fight. (Image 8) Additionally, there is a vent that leads to Gregory’s ‘room’ could be used to administer gas similarly to how it’s administered in Dittophobia. (Image 9)

2024.05.20 20:58 drnphd "Mouse-y" smell with damp, warm weather.

We've been living in our house for less than a year and have had to deal with the signs of mice intermittently. As we've removed points of entry and/or cleaned out and around appliances where the mice were nesting we have seen fewer signs of mice. I'm sure they're there (we are in a wooded suburb so there are always going to be mice).
However, when it rains and then warms up our house noticeably smells like mice. We say it smells "mouse-y" because it smells a bit like dead mice, mouse urine/waste, and a bit like dampness. The only time this smell happens is when the weather is as I described.
I have a suspicion that it has something to do with the crawlspace under the house. We know there have been mice under our house (in fact, they seem to enter by climbing up a particular pipe). Our crawlspace is semi-enclosed: there is a thick plastic layer on the bare ground, and I've never seen this pool water. The walls and the ceiling of the crawl space are not covered except for insulation on the ceiling (i.e. under our ground level flooring).
We have no idea how to stop this smell from happening. Is it too damp in our house? Did a mouse die in our vents? Do we need to deep clean our crawlspace?
I mention the weather connection, because I think if it was a dead mouse we would smell it any time the furnace or AC goes. However, during the colder and slightly drier Winter we had no smell.
Does anyone have any advice?

2024.05.20 17:00 lopix Memories of Mt. Nebo

I was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of Mt. Nebo from the 80s.
My uncle had a cottage there back in the day. Used to go down as pre-teens until roughly driving age. Was in the area last summer and got off US19 to nose around a little, but it looks nothing like what I remember. Back then, from what I recall, there was basically a general store (white building, gravel parking lot, grass slope behind it) with a white church across the street.
We park in the church parking lot and my uncle would come get us in his Jeep. Don't think it was a road that led back there, seemed more like a creek bed. He had a tiltmeter in his Jeep, as there were some tricky bits and he didn't want to roll it.
Along the way there was a house, classic run down greyish place straight out of the movies, a little above the road/creek. He'd stop there for eggs. And dogs would jump and snap at the windows and scare the crap out of us. Not sure how he didn't get eaten.
There were also some "shacks", beat up old dwellings of some sort, hounds on the porch, the whole stereotype. Probably banjos playing at times...
But my uncle seemed to get along with everyone. Not sure what the locals thought of of this funny little man. Estonian, kind of dapper in a 50s way (thin mustache at times, slacks and polo shirt, pipe and one squinty eye), with a strange and angry wife. And their daughter, who would have been in her early to late 20s during this time, classic white-blonde Scandanavian beauty. I remember one time a guy came to the door, Rufus (my uncle knew him well) with a shotgun in one hand and a passle of squirrels in the other. Offering some for stew. Not sure if he took them or not, to be honest.
There was a rattlesnake in the wood pile. Bears in the woods (once, in the winter, walking along a trail, we found a steaming pile of poo which my uncle claimed was bear). There was a river nearby, as we'd walk there to fish in the summer, saw ice floes in the winter.
I don't think US19 was there then. It was pretty rural driving from his place in Charleston (where he was a chemical engineer at Union Carbide - which I am sure is a WHOLE other story) to Mt. Nebo. I have looked at maps and satellite of the area, but I cannot figure out where anything is or was. I think the "river" was some part of Hominy Creek, coming south from Summersville Lake and then running east, where it seems to be called Deer Creek.
There are some churches on Groves Ford Road, to the east of Mt. Nebo. Could have headed back from either of them, I suppose, into the bush.

The Stack-On Beveled 18-Gun Security Cabinet, Steel, is a reliable and durable option for storing your rifles, shotguns, pistols, and other valuable belongings. The exterior finish is a sleek black, and the interior is spacious with an abundance of storage options. One of the main draws of this cabinet is its strong security features, including a key-coded cylinder lock and 4-way door locking system.
However, the most disappointing aspect of this cabinet is its build quality. The thin metal sheets and weak locking mechanism make it an untrustworthy option for securing your precious firearms and valuables. I had high hopes for this cabinet, but unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. I found the installation process to be somewhat difficult and time-consuming as well.
On a positive note, the steel shelves are a nice touch for added durability and support. They make it easier to organize your firearms and accessories, and the adjustable half-width shelves allow for customization. Additionally, the molded barrel rests and foam-padded bottom provide an extra level of protection for your antique firearms.
Unfortunately, the interior design is not as well thought out as it could be. The placement of the barrel rest holes is not ideal for all firearms, and some users have noted that the paint job inside the cabinet is of poor quality, leading to rust formation.
Overall, while the Stack-On Beveled 18-Gun Security Cabinet, Steel, has its merits, the build quality and installation process are significant drawbacks that cannot be ignored.

Securing the safe is a breeze. The dual-lock system, which includes both a fingerprint and digital keypad, provides both convenience and security. It makes you feel confident that your family and valuable firearms are well-protected.
Making the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe even more appealing is its solid construction. The exterior has a sleek black finish that adds a touch of sophistication to your home. The wall thickness is sturdy at 0.04 inches. However, you notice that the metal used in the construction does not have a specific classification, which may leave some wondering about its durability.
In conclusion, the VEVOR 6 Gun Safe is a worthy investment for those seeking an affordable, practical, and reliable firearm storage solution. Though it might not be perfect for everyone, its strengths outweigh the minor drawbacks, making it a satisfying addition to your home security.

As a reviewer who has been using the Winchester 36 Long Gun Safe in my daily life, I can confidently say that this is a great investment for anyone looking to keep their firearms and valuables secure. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the sleek, powder-coated gun metal gray finish, which added a stylish touch to the safe while also enhancing its durability.
One of the standout features of this gun safe was its electronic lock with an override key. Having both an electronic keypad and a backup key gives me peace of mind knowing that I won't be locked out in case of a power failure or if the electronic lock fails. The solid steel locking bolts provided robust security, ensuring that my firearms are kept safe and secure at all times.
The interior of the safe was spacious enough to accommodate up to 26 long guns, making it an ideal choice for gun enthusiasts and collectors alike. Additionally, the adjustable shelves allowed me to customize the layout according to my needs, providing ample storage for other valuables as well.
However, there were some cons worth mentioning. The door of the safe had a bit of play in it when closed and locked, which could be improved upon in future models. Furthermore, the instruction manual could have been more comprehensive, especially when it came to resetting the combo on the electronic lock.
Overall, I would recommend the Winchester 36 Long Gun Safe to anyone looking for a reliable, well-made safe with ample storage and good security features. It may not be perfect, but at this price point, it's hard to beat.

While there were a few minor drawbacks, they do not outweigh the fantastic features of this safe.

https://preview.redd.it/4aq91zng4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bcd2ac3ca2e89341c095d3031776004bd3b115ab
Nestled within the realm of personal security, the VEVOR 3 Rifles Gun Safe has been an invaluable ally in safeguarding my collection of firearms. Its digital keypad and robust construction create an aura of safety, providing me with peace of mind. The quick access feature has proven incredibly useful, especially during those moments when every second counts.
It's hard not to rave about its craftsmanship, a crucial aspect that never ceases to impress. The removable shelf, ammo storage box, and pistol rack make organization a hassle-free affair. However, one minor drawback - the locking mechanism could benefit from a more secure two-way system for enhanced security. Despite this, it's a reliable storage solution that ensures my loved ones remain protected from accidental access.

🔗Classic Solid Wood Gun Cabinet

https://preview.redd.it/76sz9m6h4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cc27ed8e36290b4186da3f9750d9eae0a5909930
As a firearm enthusiast who wanted a stylish and secure way to store my guns, I was excited to try out the American Furniture Classics 8 Gun Cabinet. I have to say, this piece of furniture definitely added an elegant touch to my living room, while keeping my guns locked away and out of reach from unwelcome hands.
The first thing that caught my eye was the quality craftsmanship of the cabinet; it's made from solid wood and wood veneers, which gives it a rich, timeless finish. The careful design of the gun organizers ensures that each of my rifles are held steadily in place, with felt-lined butt plates and barrel rests preventing any potential scratches or scuffs.
One feature that I particularly appreciated was the tempered glass front, allowing me to proudly display my collection while still keeping them safely behind a fully-locking key lock system. The capacity to store up to 8 long guns made it perfect for my collection, without taking up too much space in my home.
However, there were a couple of minor drawbacks. The instructions were a bit cryptic, making the assembly process slightly more challenging than it needed to be. Additionally, the storage capacity is limited, so I wasn't able to fit as many scoped rifles/shotguns as I would have liked.
Overall, the American Furniture Classics 8 Gun Cabinet has been a stylish and secure way to store and display my guns, bringing both elegance and practicality into my home. Despite the small issues with assembly and limited storage, I would still recommend this cabinet to anyone looking for a high-quality gun storage solution.

🔗American Furniture Classics 16 Gun Metal Cabinet

https://preview.redd.it/7bb6yelh4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=11f0df0dfe6263561b58977c876d46497a1a9222
I've been using the American Furniture Classics 16 Gun Metal Cabinet for a while now, and let me tell you, it's been quite an experience. This classic design, featuring a scratch-resistant black finish with gold accents, certainly stands out in my living room. The cabinet interior and door back are adorned with wood grain paneling accents, which add a touch of elegance.
Now, when it comes to setting up this cabinet, I must admit, it wasn't the easiest task. The instructions were quite lackluster, leaving me to figure out a lot of things on my own. However, once I got the hang of it, the assembly process became relatively smooth. The cabinet is solidly built with heavy-duty materials, making it sturdy and reliable.
The cabinet is designed to hold 16 guns, and it definitely delivers on that promise. I was able to store various types of rifles and shotguns without any issues. However, one downside is that it doesn't accommodate modern sporting rifles with scopes or magazines attached. So, if you're primarily looking to store those types of firearms, you might need to look for a different cabinet.
Another con worth mentioning is the door quality. While the door is sturdy, it doesn't close completely, leaving a small gap. This may not be a significant issue for everyone, but it's something to keep in mind.
On the positive side, the cabinet offers ample storage space and can easily be secured to the wall or floor. The locking mechanism, although not the most secure, is sufficient for keeping young children away from the guns.
Overall, I would recommend the American Furniture Classics 16 Gun Metal Cabinet to anyone looking for a stylish and functional gun display case. While there are a few drawbacks to consider, the cabinet's affordability and ample storage capacity make it a worthwhile investment.

🔗Snapsafe Under Bed Safe: Secure Storage Solution for Valuables

https://preview.redd.it/sah1ye8i4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=143cd1b4b6cff63602742643642566cfdcf2a74d
SnapSafe Under Bed Safe was a game-changer for me. I wanted to keep my valuables secure but also easily accessible, and this product fit the bill perfectly. Its sturdy construction with heavy-duty steel and pre-drilled bolt holes made it a reliable option for permanent installation. The 3-foot cable provided additional security by allowing me to anchor the safe to a stationary object.
The digital lock was a standout feature, with its programmable 3 to 8 digit access code and key backup. It also featured a pry-resistant door, which added peace of mind by keeping unauthorized users at bay, especially children. However, one downside that I noticed was the audio beeps, which could be a bit noisy at times.
Using the SnapSafe Under Bed Safe in my daily life was trouble-free. The large slide-out drawer accommodated a variety of items, from firearms and jewelry to documents, giving me the flexibility I needed for secure storage. The interior space was more than enough, and the exterior dimensions enabled it to fit neatly under my bed, taking up minimal space.
Overall, I highly recommend this product for anyone looking for an under bed safe that offers both security and convenience. It may not be perfect, with the audio beeps being a minor drawback, but it certainly gets the job done and provides the peace of mind I was seeking.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to securing your firearms, a cheap gun safe is an affordable solution. However, not all budget safes are equally reliable or practical. In this guide, we'll help you navigate the world of bargain gun safes, considering their features, construction, security, and more.

Security Rating

https://preview.redd.it/lo7yjcom4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e33797c73995919e044126e4ba72b717887b7683
The first thing you should look for when searching for a cheap gun safe is the security rating. While it's true that most economical safes don't have the high-end security features of their more expensive counterparts, there are still options with a reasonable level of protection.
Common security ratings for safes include ETL, UL, and BSI certifications. Look for safes with a combination of good construction and locking mechanisms. You should also consider the thickness of the door and walls, as this plays a significant role in preventing forced entry.

Type of Lock

Gun safes often use various types of locks, including electronic locks, dial locks, and key locks. For a cheap safe, a key lock is usually the most secure option. However, electronic locks can be convenient for frequent use, especially if you forget the combination frequently.
Electronic locks tend to be more vulnerable to electronic attacks, so if you choose this option, ensure that you have a good backup system in place, such as a set of spare batteries or a spare key.

Interior Size and Organization

Another essential factor to consider when buying a cheap gun safe is the interior size and organization. A safe with adjustable shelves and dividers can allow you to better organize and store your firearms, ammunition, and accessories. It's also essential to look at the dimensions of the safe's interior to ensure that it will accommodate your firearms.
If you plan on adding more firearms to your collection, consider purchasing a safe with a larger capacity or the ability to add more shelves or dividers as needed.

https://preview.redd.it/x8xsbrsn4j1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a8b973b7dd199177937692e25689732066ddab45

Weight and Construction

A cheap gun safe will not typically feature the best steel thickness and overall construction. However, a heavier safe is generally harder to move and more challenging to break into. Many budget gun safes use electronic locks, which means they rely on lightweight materials, such as aluminum or steel with lower thickness ratings.
Before purchasing, check the safe's weight and materials. The weight of a safe is critical when you consider its ability to protect your firearms from theft or unauthorized access. A safe with steel walls at least 0.4 inches thick and a door at least 0.5 inches thick is a reasonable starting point.

Other Considerations

  • Choose a safe with an anti-pry bar to protect against physical attacks.
  • Making sure the safe has a powder-coated finish can prevent rust and make it more durable.
  • Look for a warranty that covers the lock and structural components of the safe.
  • Regular maintenance, such as lubricating locks and examining the exterior, is essential to ensure the safe's longevity.
  • Consider purchasing add-on security features, such as cable locks or padlocks, to enhance safety.
Purchasing a cheap gun safe doesn't mean you have to compromise on security and quality. By knowing what features to look for and what warning signs to avoid, you can find the perfect budget safe that meets your needs without breaking the bank.

GM Locked Me Out Of Interacting With Other Players Because I Got Confused

Original Post March 6, 2024
I'm a player in a tabletop RPG campaign and I just wanted to vent about this session. The GM uses a "rules light" homebrew system and it's his homebrew world as well. He's been doing this campaign for years now, but I just joined through a mutual friend after another player left recently.
When I joined the campaign, the GM had told me he wanted me to be from a particular country as a prince, and since it was his homebrewed world, I went with it. The country I'm a prince of is a massive empire that has conquered many lands. I wanted to be a morally good character so I made up a backstory where my prince had a secret romance with a commoner so it gave me more empathy and understanding than my other royal peers would have. Then in session 1, he had the commoner immediately break up with me since the players were all leaving the city session 1.
Several sessions later, there is a carnival being hosted in the empire and all the players are attending. The players split up and my part began with my character watching as a mentally handicap child was put in the dunk tank and was being dunked against his will. So I had my character help the child and stop the game (This isn't relevant to the larger story but I thought it was really weird). Then I am told I have to go to the "main stage" which is just a strip club seemingly. And of course, walking around topless serving drinks is my character's commoner love interest that I made in session 0. The GM laughs a bit and comments, "Isn't it funny? Look at what your ex has to do without you." I have my character give her the shirt off his back and we go to the outskirts of the carnival to find a quiet place to talk, but then the carnival was ambushed by some enemies as arrows and fire rained down on the parade.
Suddenly, my character and his ex are teleported back to the main stage and the GM starts jumping back and forth between all the player characters asking what we want to do without any sort of initiative and if we don't respond quickly enough he skips to another player. I ask, "What direction are the arrows coming from?" GM, "You can't tell". "Which direction to the palace?" I ask. "You don't know," he tells me. I'm honestly genuinely confused about what to do here and my mind goes blank, but then the GM has my bodyguard (a Brienne of Tarth type) tell me to follow her so I do. As he cuts back and forth, another player loses his mom in the chaos, I tell GM, "I want to help him find his mom." "You can't see him" GM tells me. Then I ended up surrounded by 12 ambushers in the "Pleasure Gardens". GM asked what I would do. I say since the carnival is burning, I look for a piece of wood on fire and since it's the pleasure gardens maybe there's some oil I can spill and light on fire to separate myself, my bodyguard, and ex who are all with me from the ambushers. He tells me there's no oil and then I'm held down by the men. I tried to escape, but he says I failed (he just did a dice roll behind his screen and didn't tell me the results). I am then hogtied by the ambushers with my bodyguard and ex and thrown in a cart. Meanwhile, the other two players have stolen a cart and are escaping. I try to do a goofy wave as my character is tied up towards my companions and he just says, the carts never pass each other so the other players don't see you. Before the session ends he tells me my bodyguard is dead.
After the session, I think my body language showed I was a bit bummed. So GM pipes in, "You want to know why you failed that encounter?" He proceeded to tell me it was because I followed my bodyguard and there was no way a woman could have protected me and I needed to make the choice instead. Some of the other players chimed in and said it was surprising my bodyguard failed since in the lore she was a 20-year veteran who survived "The Great War". The GM keeps defending his choice. Then he started making self-deprecating jokes about how he just sucks then and he's the worst GM ever until the other players all reassure him it's fine. I kind of just sat there shell-shocked.
His system reduces dice rolls to a rarity and he does them all himself as a "way to keep tension". I'm honestly more about hanging out with my friends than judging the quality of any campaign or system but this was my first "combat" of any sort in the campaign and I just felt so helpless in this system and it was frustrating. Plus there are no insight or persuasion rolls, just what the GM claims "my character would know" and "how his NPCs would act". So I'm not sure how I was supposed to handle this encounter. Being a GM myself, I thought he was using my bodyguard character to get me back on track, but I thought wrong. I honestly wouldn't have minded if he was just railroading me for a plot point, but him trying to manipulate me and saying his hands were tied when he essentially locked me out of interacting with the other players for the rest of the session is what bothers me the most.
Edit: Changed gaslighting to manipulating since I was using the term wrong and don't want to dilute it's meaning.
Update: GM Defends Style And Told Me He Owns My Character March 20, 2024
This is an update from my post a couple of weeks ago.
One of my friends in the group reached out to me and asked me to not leave the group. He told me there were only 2 sessions left and asked me to stick around as a favor to him. I told him I'd reach out to GM and see if we could get on the same page. So I texted the GM and told him I wanted to talk because I had some concerns after the way everything went down last session. He was down and we talked on the phone a couple of days later. To my surprise, the first thing he did was profusely apologize. I hadn't been responding in our group chat, partly because I was mad and partly because my partner had a death in her family. I guess me not responding caused him to dwell on the last session a bunch. He said he was going to retcon my bodyguard's death and keep her alive. I even told him that the treatment of women in the campaign was bad and that it was making the story worse, he told me that it is something that he can work on being better about too. I was surprised, but all this gave me a lot of optimism for this conversation.
I was honest and I told him that his homebrew system is very difficult for me since I don't have a character sheet. So my character doesn't have abilities, he doesn't level up, and I can't do things like roll investigate or perception rolls which makes it hard for me to make informed decisions. I told him it makes me very risk adverse because I don't have things like HP to even know if I'm in danger. He responded to this by telling me I shouldn't worry about that because his GM style rewards me if I roleplay well enough. He went on to say he hates systems with things like perception rolls because that's "Not how real life works".
I also lamented the fact that I also don't get to interact with the other players much. I didn't mention this in my first post, but he plays with all of us in a Discord call but he only plays with us one at a time, and the two of us who aren't playing are expected to listen and record notable quotes for his notes. He'll switch between characters where each player gets 2-3 "scenes" in a 3 hour session. He has our characters all spread out across the country Game of Thrones style and I've only gotten to play with another player in 2 sessions so far. This was also why that carnival scene was so frustrating because all 3 players were finally in the same place and we were trying to find each other and he just kept saying, "You don't see them".
He told me that he doesn't do party-based adventures because you can't get character growth that way. I pushed back and said I've seen awesome character growth in traditional DnD style games in the past, it just depends on the group. I also said he's just making things harder for himself by trying to run three campaigns instead of one. And if we don't have character sheets and aren't in a party then this is all more dramatic improv than a tabletop RPG.
He responded by saying his way is better because it creates a real story and that I should be happy because he made me the main character. (I guess that is what me being the prince means?) He then went on a rant about how much he loves the game world he created and he's very grateful that our characters brought it to life. But then he says that since it's his world, he feels like he owns our characters now and that after the campaign he wants us all to sign off on him using the characters to write books and a screenplay. And if we don't he'll just change their names and do it anyway. He then thanks me and tells me that this campaign is the main thing that has been stopping him from self-harm and going to dark places. Then he says he has to go and he rushes to hang up before I can say anything else.
I'm dumbfounded after that rapid-fire series of bombshells. I've known since the first few sessions that this was barely a TTRPG, but I got to hang out with my friends so I didn't care what it was. It was nice to hang out with old friends a couple times each month. Then the story got weird, and there was so much misogyny, and then I had the horrible session that caused my original post. Then in this conversation, he throws up even more red flags that I'm not blind to, but he is also planting a seed that he may harm himself without the campaign which is not something I want on my conscience. I'm just exhausted at this point.
TLDR: GM says that abilities and parties make TTRPGs worse and he wants to use our characters to write books/movies after the campaign because he owns them since we're playing in his world. He says he may fall back to self-harm without the campaign, making me feel guilty for wanting to leave.

I ended up doing one more session for the finale. There was some drama during that session and when I mentioned that I didn't want to play in the next season of the campaign. I wasn't sure if I wanted to post about it again. I might still, but I think I want to take some time and reflect on everything.
Final Update May 11, 2024
[Final Update] Moving On From My Toxic DM And Losing A Friend In The Process
This will hopefully be my last post on this sub for a long time, but I’ve been using this place to vent about my toxic situation for a while so I figured I might as well post how everything concluded and what happened when I left. I’m going to reflect on everything and recap the important parts so no one has to read 3 posts.
It all started when I decided to start DMing to keep in touch with some college friends after graduation. During my first campaign, one of the players, Pirate, asked if his friend, Colorado, could join. I didn't really know Colorado, but I figured, "the more, the merrier."
Colorado had some issues early on, giving unsolicited advice to everyone on how to play and viewing newer or shy players as “side characters”. However, he frequently missed sessions, only showing up for less than half of them for the first few years so nothing came to a head early on. Then, Colorado decided he wanted to bring back his tabletop campaign from his college days and started trying to recruit players after my sessions. Pirate suggested I join the campaign, promising that Colorado was a better DM than player. Since I had been the Forever DM up to that point, I agreed to give it a go.
I created a character who was part of the royal family but enjoyed interacting with commoners in the slums, even having a secret girlfriend from that background. After that, Colorado also started hitting me up to help with the campaign. I ended up photoshopping character art for a bunch of his NPCs and I even drew his world map for him. I didn't mind doing it, as I do that kind of stuff for fun.
For our first session, Colorado had already created character sheets for us based on our backstories, but only he could see them. Colorado would also roll all the dice himself so “all we had to focus on is roleplaying”. We played one on one in different "scenes" that could last around 30 minutes to an hour each. We usually had around 2 to 4 scenes per session, depending on what Colorado thought was important. During the game, Colorado asked us to write down quotes from him and the other players when it wasn't our turn.
I had to wait for well over an hour before I could finally play. My first session was on rails. I mostly just had to repeat after Colorado during a ceremony. Afterwards, I got to sneak out of the castle and meet with my commoner girlfriend, but Colorado immediately had her break up with me. Then I was told that I had to leave the city. I was essentially locked out of my hanging out in the slums and commoner girlfriend subplots. NPCs generally disliked my morally good character, especially my sister who was depicted as purely evil towards me. Despite my efforts to mend the relationship, she never changed her mind and Colorado never rolled any dice to determine that. Later Colorado revealed to me the character was based on his ex-girlfriend, who was originally intended to be the player character from my country before they broke up.
Eventually, I finally got to interact with another player, Soldier, who I had really good chemistry with and we had a really fun scene. Which Colorado exclaimed, “See! This is why I keep you apart. It makes these moments so much more epic!” But I’m just thinking that if we were in a party, every session could be this epic.
Then Colorado got busy. He went to some alternative medicine nature retreat and didn’t pay his rent the whole time he was gone so he got evicted. At that point, the campaign went on hiatus as people got busy and Colorado was couch hopping. It was during that time I considered the campaign over and made my first post because I thought it fit the sub. Then a year after the last session, Colorado started trying to organize the group to do 3 more sessions to finish the campaign. I just ghosted the group chat for a while, but Pirate’s roommate is a player in the campaign I DM so Pirate started hopping on the call asking me to come back for the finale. Pirate told me that it would be different this time because all of our characters were going to meet up for the finale and he really wanted to play with me. I naively agreed to give the game a second chance.
The first of those three sessions led to this post and this follow up.
[TLDR - I never got to meet up with the other characters. Colorado made my ex a stripper and I was captured by invaders with no dice rolls to prevent it. I had a conversation with him about my concerns after the last session. He apologized and agreed to make changes saying he needed the campaign for his mental health.]
Colorado decided to have a single super finale session, which I reluctantly attended because of sunk cost fallacy. I was imprisoned, beaten and whipped, separated from my girlfriend and recently resurrected bodyguard. A deus-ex ninja offered to help me escape, but I wanted to save all the prisoners. So I helped the commoners escape with the ninja before saving my girlfriend. My bodyguard got captured, but I made sure my girlfriend escaped and then I went to save my bodyguard because I wasn’t letting her die after she just got resurrected. I tried to find my bodyguard but every door was locked and I was forced into a long one on one fight with a guard that would make John Carpenter blush. I lost the fight due to an unknown -2 modifier on my fighting rolls, leading to my re-imprisonment.
Pirate tried to board a boat to reach my location, but was unsuccessful. Colorado informed him that the sailors refused to let him on the ship because they didn't like his tone. Fortunately, Soldier saved me and we agreed to stop the big bad and rescue my bodyguard together. With a squad of Soldier's peers, we pursued the big bad into the woods. Without any rolls, all the other soldiers were sniped by archers.
Finally, the two of us reached the clearing where the big bad and his followers were. We were outnumbered about 30-2. My bodyguard and the other commoners were tied to a tree. Soldier was the same race as the villain so he approached while I stayed hidden. He delivered an awesome passionate speech against the big bad's actions saying that it wasn’t what their ancestors would want. I’m sitting there waiting and hoping for a persuasion roll… and nothing. Colorado says the big bad doesn’t change his mind and he sets the tree on fire, causing my bodyguard and the commoners to burn to death. Soldier and I retreated into the woods to end the campaign.
Pirate was supposed to have a scene after us, but he fell asleep because it was past 1am. Colorado kept trying to call Pirate on the phone. I joke, “Hey, we’re old now, being up past midnight isn’t as easy as it used to.” To which Colorado replies, “I just thought Pirate had more respect for me than this.” The Discord call becomes quiet and after Colorado starts focusing on Soldier and I. He wants to know why we’re not discussing the ending more. I remarked that it was a bit of a downer and I’m tired. Then Colorado starts spiraling, saying that RPGs are just another medium that he failed at just like film and music. HE STARTS CRYING and hangs up from the Discord call. Soldier and I stayed on and had a short “That was awkward” conversation. I don’t know Soldier well so I didn’t say much about my grievances with the campaign and eventually we ended up just talking about Baldur’s Gate 3 for an hour.
The next day, I wake up to a barrage of texts from Colorado apologizing, mansplaining how hard it is to be a DM as if I’ve never done it myself. He then starts sending me messages with all his ideas for my character in the next season and how he promises I’ll have more freedom next time. I wouldn’t understand, but he NEEDED to do the prison sequence and my bodyguard to die for my character growth, but next season will be different. I tell him I’m not doing another season. Colorado replies saying that he thought I’d say that because Pirate (who was apparently not sleeping) told him Soldier and I were bitching about the campaign after the session. Colorado said that once I get over it, we can start talking about season 3. I reaffirmed my stance. Then Colorado texts me one last time and asks if I’ll still make his maps and character art even if I don’t play. I said no again.
It's been two months since I last heard from Colorado or Pirate. We used to play games and talk about pro wrestling all the time, but now there's been no contact. A lot of the comments on my posts helped me realize I was prioritizing Colorado’s mental health over my own and I felt like it was my responsibility to support his campaign because he constantly referenced how important it was to his mental health. Intentional or not, he preyed upon my empathy. I’m not his Giving Tree and I shouldn’t be left a stump for a campaign where he doesn’t even want us to affect the world.
I sometimes worry Pirate is going through a similar situation to me, but for a longer period of time. Pirate introduced me to Colorado, and he's really loyal to him. I think that slowed down my exit from the group because I trusted Pirate to be my friend as well. I remember opening up to Pirate about a panic attack I had while Colorado was spiraling one day, and he just shrugged it off as me being dramatic. It's frustrating. I want both of them to be happy, but I can't make that happen for them, especially if it comes at the expense of my own well-being.
I ended up venting to some of my irl friends and they really supported and listened to me which is why I didn’t feel a need to vent here. I learned a lot about what not to do when DMing from this campaign and it made me reevaluate my approach to playing RPGs. Now I'm in a group with my irl friends and it's a blast. I can relax and just have fun playing again.
TLDR - I started DMing to stay connected with college friends who were scattered across the country. One player, Pirate, introduced me to Colorado, who eventually took over as the DM. Colorado had some unconventional methods, such as not using character sheets and controlling all the dice rolls. The game became focused on his storyline and my character had limited agency. Despite this, I gave the campaign a second chance. In the final session, things went poorly, and Colorado had a breakdown. Despite his apologies and promises for the next season, I decided not to continue playing. I have not heard from Colorado or Pirate since. I now play with my real-life friends and it's much more enjoyable.

Glad you're doing better. That does sound like quite a toxic situation.
If I've understood it right, the stuff with Pirate 'falling asleep' but actually listening in to you and Soldier talking feels like a massive red flag to me. I understand worrying about him since you were/felt like you were friends, but if he's enabling Colorado with that sort of stuff then it's probably best to move on.
OOP
Yeah even the best case would be that Pirate woke up after Colorado left the call and just overheard Soldier and me talking without us realizing because his mic was muted and we assumed he had passed out and then he snitched after which is still a bad look tbh. I had been distancing myself from Pirate since he invalidated my panic attack prior to this. It's just hard to be vulnerable with someone again after that.

2024.05.20 04:06 Wild-Improvement-818 Would love advice on staying grounded while working with Lucifuge Rofocale and other Infernals, as well as a few other points/questions. <3

This may end up a little long, I feel like this seems like a good place where I can post my experiences and the community here seems kind, but the TL/DR of it is:
-How do y'all stay grounded in the mundane when working with entities that can be so intense?
-As of right now I've only been making offerings to Lucifuge Rofocale, I used the Dukante sigil once, which felt interesting, and I've been getting a lot of synchronicities in every day life.
-The connection has started off intense out the gate, but I am fighting a people pleasing nature and the ecstasy of feeling connected to my spiritual side again. From what I've reading about Lucifuge, he is demanding of those he works with in that he doesn't like his time wasted, and it's bringing up old fears of being good enough and worry about disappointing him/losing the connection. No one is really specific about what demanding means.
-I had told my boyfriend about Lucifuge the other night, and he had made some somewhat disrespectful joke about his name and a similarity to Lucifer's name, and when he was in the living room while I was in the bedroom a short while later, he was trying to clean his Mary Jane pipe by smacking it with a lighter (something he claims he had done before) and the side of the lighter blew out and made a huge bang. Yes, there was a mundane explanation for it, but the timing felt like a "I don't suffer abuse." I ended up apologizing for what my boyfriend said and so did he, and things seemed fine after that, but it was still a very intense moment.
-If any of you happen to have a history with PTSD and abuse, how do you let yourself be vulnerable with such a powerful spirit when old fears (and maybe old behaviors) keep cropping up?
~~~~~
Background info if y'all so desire, as well as other little points and maybe some questions thrown in:
I have been inclined toward witchcraft for about 20ish years since I was 11, started getting a bit more serious about it the last few years but not as serious as I would like. I had a negative experience in 2017 when I was working with Lilith (I was SAed by a man who I had considered a friend at the time) that sent me into a mental health crisis and I cut off my ties with Lilith poorly after that. The way I handled it sucked, I blamed the experience on her even though it was 100% the man's fault (obviously, looking back I was not well mentally for obvious reasons, but even still). I plan on giving her an apology offering soon, not so much to work with her again but because it feels right. Her energy was always wonderful, albeit a little intense, and I feel like I messed things up bad. But, I digress from my point.
After that whole thing, I never thought that I would end up drawn to Demonolatry until the last 6 months, really. I started researching Infernals for a personal project of mine and wanted to know more about them to make certain aspects of it more real, and I fell down a bit of a rabbit hole.
It feels like a whirlwind, but I got a message from Lucifer sometime at the end of 2023 through a reader that I've gone to before and it seemed really positive. Fast forward a little, I had seen Lucifuge Rofocale's sigil months ago and thought it was weird how it was the same that Mephistopheles uses, but then didn't think any more of it. That was the extent of that.
Maybe a month ago, I had been reached out to by Belial, but didn't feel inclined to work with him so nothing came of that.
This week on I wanna say Wednesday, I decided to contact Lucifuge Rofocale and Lucifer (because it felt right at the time), and the energy was *intense*. I had been getting some signs to do this, and it felt right at the time. There was an intense feeling of heat and some clairaudience involved. I had a really positive tarot reading as a means of divination, BUT I did pull the three of swords for working with Lucifuge, essentially that working with him might involve pain. I also got a reading from a reading who I regularly get readings from (who has been wildly accurate before), and he said something to a similar effect. He mentioned that Lucifuge has been around my energy before, and that working with him will center around finance and duty (two things I need to work on), but that sometimes entities will mold people as though they are clay into an image that they see fit for them, and to be aware of that because it doesn't work well for some people. He also mentioned that there would be pain. (I want to believe that that is shadow work, as I had a shadow work experience that evening and a reading that indicated as much.)
I think between some old people pleasing tendencies, and seeing what everyone has written about him not working well with beginners, despite my experience (I do have experience in polarity therapy and reiki too, so I'm not new to energy, at least), I've been riddled with self-doubt and the need to prove myself even though it's only been three or four days. To the point that Loki (who I work with here and there) popped up to remind me to relax and mellow out (and to make me laugh).
I also got some pretty immediate small results without even asking for anything, like someone randomly sending me a little money and a check I've been waiting on finally getting printed. I had a deep emotional release that felt like shadow work. I got guided to go on a walk in the woods and had a beautiful experience. I've had some visuals and been woken up. I had a beautiful experience sitting with his energy with the Dukante sigil last night. But again, it's been like 3 or 5 days. I'm simultaneously thrilled, but I hate the anxiety cropping up that I'm not going to be good enough and that I have to follow the signs to the letter to please him, even when those signs might actually be me reading them wrong. (Example: Getting signs to look into a school when in reality it might be for something else that is *related* to that because I don't even know that that type of school is a career that I would want.)
I felt very ungrounded a lot of today, and I just wanna know what y'all do to ground when you form a new and intense connection, and how to let yourself just enjoy the ride and not get too wound up. Also, if any of you happen to have a history with PTSD and abuse, how do you let yourself be vulnerable with such a powerful spirit when old fears (and maybe old behaviors) keep cropping up? I honestly think these are cropping up to teach me to work through them, but that doesn't stop the feelings.
Anyone who has had experiences with Lucifuge Rofocale, thoughts would be welcomed. What has happened to me so far has felt very protective, very boundary pushing, and very beautiful, but it has also been very intense and a little intimidating. When you read things about a demon like "*any* distrust can be taken as a deep disrespect, which he does not tolerate" and you have C-PTSD from abuse, sometimes those statements hit really hard, probably harder than they might mean and it makes you a bit skittish that you're about to fuck up at any second. (I have stuff to work through and a road ahead of me, I know, which is why I want to stay grounded because with the triggers has come beauty so I don't wanna just give up on this.)
Related but unrelated: This morning in my head "Valak" kept coming up when I was trying to think of Lucifuge's name as I was just waking up/half asleep. I don't entirely know how to take that. I don't feel as though I would gel with Valak's energy at this time, so it was very strange to me.
2024.05.20 02:09 Boofitness What are some basic improvements for my parent's backyard vegetable garden?
What are some basic improvements for my parent's backyard vegetable garden?
I want to improve my parent's backyard vegetable section. My parents are very resourceful and will use anything they find as long as it serves it's purpose. I want to improve their garden, but need a bit of basic pointers and feedback since I have absolutely zero experience in this at all. There are a few replacements I want to address for improvement, any more would be appreciated:
  1. I want to get rid of the industrial pipes that are being used as garden stakes. What is an appropriate substitute? I've seen those green garden stakes at home depot, but I am not sure what is a better replacement.
  2. Are there alternatives to using wire fencing? The main use is to prevent rabbits.
  3. How high should the fencing be? I can't imagine rabbits jumping over a 4 feet fence, but maybe they can?
  4. What is more effective for keeping soil contained in its bedding section, stone or wood? My parents used cut logs from home depot years ago(but those have warped years ago). I am more concerned about longevity. When it rains, this section can get flooded at times, so that can be a concern.
  5. What are some tools that will help out?
  6. To make sure soil/garden lot is even, do you guys just pour soil in until it looks even and hope for the best?
I am looking to spend at least $200-300 dollars for this. My parents are elderly so I will be the only one working on this. The section of the garden is approximately 4' wide and 50', but roughly 30 feet is only used, the rest is just filled with weeds and infested with spearmint. I am also in the process of removing the tree stumps. Any more feedback is appreciated
2024.05.20 01:53 Definitive_confusion Hi there.
Hi there.
We have here a 1986 Nissan Sunrader. And a very long story.
In;b4 if you want to see the process as it goes I'll keep posting. If not, I won't.
Built on a 1984 720 chassis brought to the US unfinished to avoid tariffs. It was then sent to a place called Gardner Pacific in Vallejo, California. From what I've found Gardner Pacific made a total of 84 camper backs for Nissan trucks before being shut down for tax evasion. Of the 84, only 1 had the 'limousine' back gate. This is it
We bought it about 5 years ago from some gacked out tweaker on Craigslist for $1000. It had to be pulled from a field and towed. It still had a sink and fridge unit, a little set of shelves, and a fold down sleeper couch thing when we got it. It was in REALLY bad shape. I spent about 4 hours going through the engine and managed to get it to barely start and run but the smoke from the pipe literally killed a bush that was near it. Fuel, air, and spark were all compromised in one way or another.
We bought a reman engine and swapped in the same stock 2.4 (with 8 plugs) 4 cylinder. Changed brakes, bled fluids and got new tires and she ran like a champ. We lost the sink unit and shelves going around a corner in Truckee, CA a few weeks later. (It literally all collapsed and smashed to the ground.). We put in a futon mattress and set off adventuring for a year and a half.
After being in Oregon for a while we cleaned it out completely for the first time in a while and realized we had a LOT of black mold. So we had to tear out all the carpet, wall liners, and the futon (and a bunch of clothes and stuff, sad day)
After we gutted it we realized the floor was rotting. Structural repair became a roadblock. She's just been sitting there gutted in my driveway for over 2 years.
Today, I decided it was time to start back into the complete renovation of this 17 foot gem.
First rotted area cut out and sanded clean. I only cut to the edge of where the fiberglass fill rolls onto the wood. Then I cut a patch of outdoor plywood 2 inches bigger than the hole as a bottom brace. I cut 2 pieces of fiberboard the shape of the hole. Then another patch of 1/4" medium density fiberboard to fit along the edge of the wheel well and side. Then marine grade carriage bolts through the top patch, existing wood, and the bottom patch to squeeze it all together. I'm treating all the wood with polyurethane waterproofing then I'll fill all the cracks with Durham water putty when I assemble it.
Same process will be repeated for the other, bigger rotted spot. Then I'll cut panels of the same mdf to create a single floor with even support across the whole thing. Then I'll have to engineer some sort of way to get the back gate back on. Learn how to install boat windows or figure out some way to get the existing windows back in and water tight. Then carpet and wall liners...
2024.05.19 21:06 Froyo-fo-sho Prior owners cut a joist to run a circuit. What should I do? [CA]
I’m really spooked by this. I live in a 3 story wood frame condo, on the second floor, 1987 construction, California. Just discoverd that the prior owners cut through a joist to run a new conduit into the kitchen. They must have done the rental special with the Home Depot parking lot guys. It’s really ugly.
My kitchen has a recessed fluorescent lightbox. I found the cut when I opened the light box to change the bulbs. You see that the joist is basically cut in half. It’s hard for me to tell if the joist is loadbearing or simply a large member to frame out the kitchen. There’s no access from above. It only runs 12 feet in the kitchen, and does not span the rest of the condo. The kitchen has a soffet / dropped ceiling to run pipes/ductwork above.
It’s been at least seven years, since I bought the place seven years ago.
Hmm thoughts on how alarming this is? What actions should I take? Thank you so much.
2024.05.19 18:50 amphetaminesfailure Came Home Friday To See What Nobody Wants To In Their Front Lawn
I was coming home on Friday afternoon, and noticed all down the side of my street were parking cones with "No Parking" signs taped on them and dates for next week. My heart sank right away. I knew what it probably meant.
Sure enough, after pulling into my driveway I walked to my front lawn. Spray painted lines and arrows all over my grass. Same with my neighbors.
Utility work.
Just two fucking years ago I got my front lawn torn up when the gas company replaced all our lines.
Now the city is replacing all out water lines apparently.
I JUST cut my grass on Thursday and thought to myself how good the front was looking this year.
Look, I get this is a first world rant.....I probably should be grateful the city has finally decided to replace our lead water pipes.....but fuck me.
The gas company did their work back in the spring two years ago.
Then without asking, they hired a landscaping company to "fix" everyone's lawn.
The area the gas company dug up was filled back in by them, but they just threw everything they dug out back in, so I had multiple layers of soil mixed together.
Then the landscaping company they hired came by, threw down maybe a quarter inch of the cheapest unscreened topsoil they could buy full or rocks and wood chips, and tossed down a handful of cheap grass seed in fucking June.
So obviously what I ended up with was nothing but crabgrass and weeds until the end of August when I finally had to tear out those areas, dig out and dispose of their shitty topsoil, and get some good quality screened loam to the match the rest of my top soil.
Granted I reseed every late summeearly fall to begin with, but I had to specifically baby those areas.
And now I'm doing it all again apparently.
Maybe I'm being a whiny bitch, I know work like this needs to be done by utility companies, but I JUST spent the past two seasons fixing my front yard.....
2024.05.19 18:36 SuperSynapse Looking at tool bags. What's your best recommendation?
Looking at tool bags as I'm restructuring my kit, and the devil is always in the details for what slots they have for the tools you use. What is your favorite tool bag and why?
Bonus points if also you include a tool you can't live without or found far more useful than you thought in your electrical bag. What's the system for how use your bag (or wish you did)?
Please include brand or details. Would love to hear your thoughts, on when having multiple bags is better which makes a second trip more likely, or being more versatile with variety of tools in one. For instance an Electrician many times needs more than just cable pliers and wire nuts, but also, tools from "other industries"; for instance slots that fit: a drill, saw, batteries, and wood working bits, or pipe tools like a plumber, or masonry tools for brick/cement runs, etc.
2024.05.19 18:06 AffectionateSet9043 Best way to learn jewelry making/fine metal smithing and casting?
I've always wanted to learn how to make jewelry and in general I really enjoy doing things with my hands, mostly wood working for now (I'm especially interested in replicating historical methods and designs). I wonder since there's so many jewelry stores in Zurich whether there's a school or some place to learn that is somewhat flexible.
I work 100% so this is a bit of a pipe dream but hey, maybe there's a small community center or group of people who'd be willing to teach in a low stress environment.
I'm aware of dynamo and will go check it out, but online it seemed like it was not so much for smithing or casting (hopefully I'm wrong).
Thanks all and sorry if the question doesn't make sense I'm running on little sleep these days.
2024.05.19 15:49 Physical_Sail3240 Defects that did not exist during viewing or inspection after purchasing a house in Sweden as someone from the Netherlands, seller is not taking responsibility
At the start of 2024, my partner and I purchased a house (built in 1954) in Sweden. We personally inspected the house and had it professionally evaluated. A small number of issues were found during the inspection, but nothing that deterred us from actually buying the house.
The contract was signed by all parties throughout the end of 2023 (no choice of law was established, which means Swedish law is appliccable) and the transfer (tillträde) took place in mid-January 2024. When we arrived at the house, there was no electricity, no running water, and no heating. Various leaks had occurred because of the cold weather and the lack of heating. The reason for there being no electricity turned out to be a defective electric heating unit, used to aid the central heating system which is otherwise brought up to temperature by burning wood. This unit was shorting out the entire house. The lack of electricity meant that the circulation pump was not running, allowing some of the leaks to occur. The previous owner had also shut off the main water valve, meaning there also was no water pressure in any of the pipes, contributing to a situation in which leaks could occur.
There is no way of knowing exactly what happened in what order, but we do know that none of these leaks were there when the property was viewed by us and inspected by a third party. Because these defects all originated from before we took over the property (tillträde), it is our understanding that the seller is responsible for the defects. Unfortunately, however, the seller refuses to take responsibility besides paying for the plumber that we had over to repair (what turned out to be only some of) the leaks. We have incurred more costs (such as being forced to stay in a hotel, an enormous electricity bill because we used an army of 2000W electric heaters to keep the house above 0 degrees) and expect to incur additional costs to repair the heating system, which involves replacing a significant portion of the central heating pipes.
I believe that the seller is in breach of contract. The house should have been delivered in the condition we accepted after the viewing and inspection, but it was not. The contract, which she signed, clearly states that these defects are her responsibility.
What I'm wondering is: how should we proceed from here? I would prefer to hold her accountable and force repairs and/or financial compensation, but I'm not sure how this works given I'm a Dutch citizen, not a Swedish one. Family members advise, however, to take the money for the plumber's bill and leave it at that. I can't properly assess what such an issue means across borders, both practically and financially. Therefore, I hope to get some advice through this post.
If I have left out any details that are relevant, I am of course willing to expand this post with them.
