2024.05.21 12:28 Zeroeth_0 How to go about implementing shmup options?

Hello everybody! I'm making a shmup, so one of the mechanics I wanna implement is options (for those of you who don't know what options are, it's those tiny ships that follow the player and shoot alongside him. Think Gradius for example).
The thing is, I think I'd be able to implement a crappy option system myself, where they follow you and shoot when you shoot, but wanted to know how you guys with much more experience than me would tackle this problem.
Currently my player is a CharacterBody2D (plus Sprite2D and CollisionShape2D of course) with another Node2D inside him. This node is a cannon, as I plan on putting different weapons throgh a power up system, and I have it working on a state machine using enums to know what shot type is it supposed to cast (I'm only explaining this cause I want the options to mimic the main ship's shooting power).
This is the script I have for player movement and basic behavior (attached to the CharacterBody2D node):
extends CharacterBody2D # Variables @export var speed: int = 800 @export var screenMargin: int = 50 func _physics_process(delta): movement() screen_clamp(get_viewport().get_visible_rect().size) func screen_clamp(screenSize): # Clamps position to screen size position.x = clamp(position.x, screenMargin, screenSize.x - screenMargin) position.y = clamp(position.y, screenMargin, screenSize.y - screenMargin) func movement(): # Determines normalized movement direction based on both axes var direction = Vector2(INPUT.xAxis, INPUT.yAxis) velocity = direction.normalized() * speed move_and_slide()
And this is the script I have for player shooting (attached to the cannon Node2D):
extends Node2D # Bullets var BaseBullet = preload("res://Entities/Bullets/base_bullet.tscn") var ChargeBullet = preload("res://Entities/Bullets/charge_bullet.tscn") # Variables @export_enum("Base") var Mode: String @export var bulletLimit: int = 3 var bulletCount: int = 0 var canShoot: bool = true # Timers var shootTimer: float = 0.0 var shootInt: float = 0.05 var chargeTimer: float = 0.0 var chargeInt: float = 1 func _physics_process(delta): if shootTimer < shootInt: shootTimer += delta if !INPUT.bHold: shooting(delta) bullet_check() func shooting(delta): if INPUT.aHold and canShoot and shootTimer >= shootInt and chargeTimer < chargeInt: shoot_machine(Mode) chargeTimer = 0 if !INPUT.aHold and chargeTimer < chargeInt: chargeTimer += delta if INPUT.aPress and chargeTimer >= chargeInt: shoot_machine("Charge") func shoot_machine(Bullet): var bullet match Bullet: "Base": bullet = BaseBullet.instantiate() shootTimer = 0.0 "Charge": bullet = ChargeBullet.instantiate() chargeTimer = 0.0 shoot(bullet) func shoot(bullet): bullet.position = global_position get_tree().current_scene.add_child(bullet) func bullet_check(): bulletCount = get_tree().get_nodes_in_group("Base").size() if bulletCount >= bulletLimit: canShoot = false if bulletCount == 0: canShoot = true
Thank you guys in advance!

2024.05.21 12:17 Neat_Road582 Annual leave tax advice

I was hoping to get some advice. I’m stepping down from a store manager role to a permanent part time role once a week while I complete my social work placement. I’ll have 88 hours of annual leave when I’m planning to step down. I’ll be taking a pay cut of $12.25 an hour so I’m wondering am I best to take my annual leave prior to stepping down and be taxed on it in full or just take it during my placement once a week for the duration of my first placement to have more of an income while not having to work. I’ll also be eligible for Centrelink during this time as my placement is two 500 hour blocks unpaid.
Unsure of the smartest way to tackle this

2024.05.21 12:08 f00o Trade Scenario OTW #1

Trade Scenario OTW #1
Hi everyone, with the Clips out of contention this playoffs and our future (admittedly) looking a bit bleak, I thought I would do something a little fun with these hypothetical trade scenarios, which I'll be aiming to post at least once a week. You can hate or shit on it as much as you want but at the end of the day, it's just for fun. Also just fyi, there will be a lot of words down below so feel free to just skim through.
Anyways with that over with, for now I'll be avoiding making up any trades with PG or Russ in it as it's unlikely PG does a sign-and-trade nor the fact that Russ signs another lowball contract deal.
So for today's scenario, I wanted to try and address the current roster's issues which are: Lack of a proper PF and not enough athletic/glue guys on the team. If you look at the image, this isn't necessary a 3 team trade but I had just put two seperate trades into one, for viewing purposes.
1st trade: Orlando Magic Receive - Terrance Mann & P.J. Tucker
Clippers Receive - Jonathan Isaac
Now, how can the 'untouchable' T-mann himself be traded? Well firstly, he's 27 years old so I doubt he makes any significant developments at this point in his career and for the past 3 seasons he's had the same general stats. However Orlando possibly makes this trade because they're lacking in the wing position and Mann slots in perfectly as a pretty decent 3 & D guy to play along Franz and Paolo. If you watched the Cavs and Magic series, you'll see how atrocious their offense was (especially in game 7) with no one seemingly being able to a hit single 3 on Orlando. They're also 23rd in 3pt % so T-Mann is a perfect fit for them in just simply spacing the floor. With PJ Tucker, there admittedly isn't much upside to him apart from giving you some scrappy old man post defense with the occassional corner 3 plus some veteran leadership (he's just mainly there as a contract filler).
In return, the Clippers get Jonathan Isaac. The Magic seemingly don't need him as much as he only gets 15 minutes a night and is playing behind one of the younger front courts with a rising 21 yr old Paolo ahead of him. However, our old ass Clips team can for sure use a guy like him. Serviceable from three (37.5% however only 0.7 for 1.9 attempts a game), Isaac fits perfectly along Zubac and the general offense of our team as his agile roamer-presence as a shot blocker plus Zubac's defensive anchor(ness?) makes for a pretty airtight front court defense. Plus his ability to sufficiently play behind our stars will make his fit even better, assuming he gets around 25-30 minutes a night I can see him easily averaging 12 ppg and 7 rpg with like 2 blocks (His per36: 15.5 ppg 10.2 rpg 2.8 bpg). Now his main issue is going to be availability. He doesn't exactly have the best track record went it comes to being healthy however this season it seems like he's made a proper return, playing almost 60 games this year. For how good of a fit he is, I think this is a risk we should 100% take.
2nd trade: Nuggets receive - Norman Powell & Moussa Diabate
Clippers receive - Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Peyton Watson, Christian Braun.
With game 7 of the Nuggets vs Wolves coming to an end, we all saw how Jokic and Jamal fizzled out from exhaustion, resulting in the Wolves to come back and take the W. Jamal and Jokic alone combined for 69 points while everyone else on that team? 21 points. They desperately need a spark plug, starting or off the bench doesn't matter, they NEED a guy apart from Jamal and Jokic that can score the ball when needed. And who better then 6th man candidate, Norman Powell? Norman Powell has been absolutely monumental for us but thing is, he's getting old (30 yrs old). Already seeing a slight drop in ppg and other stats (also due to Harden being there), he like T-Mann, isn't going to get any better than this. We've got to sell him high. 14ppg on 43.5% shooting from 3 is still going to provide insane help to any team, especially Denver who needs more firepower off the bench. As for Moussa, I know his addition won't be anything insane but another issue with their roster is their lack of a backup big. They currently have a 35 year old Deandre Jordan as their backup behind Jokic. For his age, DJ isn't bad at all but how long is his worn-out body going to be able to endure and stay on the floor consistently? They need a fresh new body that isn't required to be impactful but can at least be there when Jokic comes off for whatever short amount of time he's resting on the bench.
Now for what we receive, with PG and Russ' presence on this team being questionable, its time we prepare to bring in guys that can play around Harden and Kawhi but also have a few decent young prospects we can actually look into developing. Bringing in KCP obviously won't be the same as PG but to be honest, he might make for a better fit. His defense is nothing to scoff at as it was merely 3-4 years ago where he was 11th in Dpoy votings. Obviously that was a bit of a stretch but even at age 30, he's still good. He's an established 2 way shooter that can spot up along with Harden and Kawhi leading the offense. And honestly with PG, at times it felt like his inconsistency, questionable shot selection and inconvenient passiveness as one of the main guys hurt us more than it helped us. Now with Peyton and Braun, I'm going to clump them together but they're both intriguing, young prospects that each have their own upsides. Peyton's knack for shot blocking and Braun's flashes of starter material, makes them good candidates for this squad. I know Ty Lue for whatever reason seems to HATE the idea of playing younger players but with PG, Russ and Norman Powell gone in this situation, he'll be forced to play some new faces in this lineup. KCP, Peyton and Braun are all wing players that can slot in from the 2-4, replace whichever starter when needed.
With this, I'm done with my ranting but after these trades, this is what I intended the lineups to look like.
Starters: Harden, KCP, Kawhi, Jonathan, Zubac Bench: Bones, Braun/BBJ, AmiPeyton, Theis/Kobe Brown, Plumlee/Kai Jones
I hope you found this at least entertaining, if you did read all this, I appreciate you and I am completely open to hearing any suggestions, new trade ideas or counter-arguments to this scenario.

2024.05.21 11:59 Dawesy182 Summer Transfer Window

I think its always good to set expectations for the transfer window prior to it starting. It is easy to sign multiple players and still want1 more on deadline day. Realistically we are going to be making huge moves but it will be a case of selling fringe players and getting replacements in who will actually form part of the squad. With this in mind I've broken it down to positions and what we need in each.
TLDR is at the bottom for summary of transfers.
GK - Sa, Bentley, King
I would be happy going into the new season with these 3. I do think a better quality back up would be good if we can get somebody on a free but I wouldn't want to spend money in this area when i feel we have others areas we need to improve more.
LB - Ait-Nouri, Bueno
Happy with both of these options and Doc and Toti can cover if we have any lack of depth. Ait-Nouri could be sold if a decent bid comes in but that amount should cover a new LB and 2 other signings which shouldn't be an issue. Ait-Nouri is key to the team and way we play though so it would need to be a substantial offer.
RB - Semedo, Doherty, Bolla, Lembikisa, Hoever
Semedo and Doherty are good options, not sure how I would feel if Semedo got injured and we were dependent on Doherty for the whole season. Hoever has done alright at Stoke and i would be happy to sell now as I don't think his mentality or ability have a place in our squad right now. Bolla has been doing well in Switzerland but at 24 and playing a back up role for us, I think it would be good to cash in on him now albeit we wont get a huge sum for him. Lembikisa has is obviously one for the future and I think loaning him out for another year would help his development and would provide a good replacement for Doherty for 2025/26 season. I would personally do a 6 month loan so we can assess in January whether we need him and if not then we can extend the loan to the end of the season.
CB - Kilman, Bueno, Dawson, Toti, Mosquera, Hubner
Happy with all the main options. Bueno hasnt been great but I think Mosquera will step into the role of back up to the starting 3. Hubner needs to be shipped off now I think. He has barely played in Japan and just seems like the club is holding onto him out of hope more than expectation. Pond is probably the next one on the ranks in the youth team, so if we have a couple of injuries, he can step onto the bench.
CM - Lemina, Gomes, Doyle, Traore, Bellegarde, Hodge, Cundle
I am happy with our options in this area. Bellegarde is in there as I really don't know his best position. He just seems to play where he can get game time. Hodge has dropped out of the team at QPR, I don't know if he will make it to our squad. I would keep him around until pre season and give a full assessment there and decide whether he needs 1 more loan to prove his worth or to sell now. Cundle I think has found his level in the championship and we need to sell now. 4/5 midfielders is good for our 2 midfield system.
Wingers - Neto, Cunha, Sarabia, Enso, Chirewa, Podence, Campbell, Chiquinho, Guedes, Little Lemina
For an area we have had a lack of depth this season, that is a lot of wingers. Guedes and Podence both need to be sold, I think we know that. Neto obviously should stay but if an offer comes in for him then he is the one saleable asset that I wouldn't mind selling. His injuries are too regular for us with the level of club we are at the moment and the money we could get from him would really him strengthen the squad. If we don't sell him then that's great but he either has a brilliant season and we get an offer that we cant refuse next summer or he gets injured again and the cycle continues. Sarabia is really good and has earned more playing time as the season has gone on. I believe he is on a decent amount of money but his experience and technically ability is a must amongst a our forward line. Cunha is obviously a keep and can also be a striker. Enso, Lemina and Chirewa are young and are not reliable yet so we could consider a loan move for them. Might be worth keeping Lemina in the squad and playing for the U21 and occasionally making the bench. The reason for this is that i assume there was a human element to the signing (as well as football ability) given the death of his father and bringing the brothers together and if that was the case i wouldn't want to loan him out yet. This is assuming he stays permanently. Campbell has been playing in League 1 and is 21 now and I think the potential of other younger players is better so its time to part company. Chiquinho needs to come back and be in our squad. He offers a good replacement winger and at a push can cover right back. This essentially leaves us with 4 wingers. This is where we need to go out and get one or 2 players in. Maybe one of those is a loan move for the season so that we aren't stuck with extra players when hopefully Enso comes back and can play that role. Bellegarde can also play out wide if needed.
Striker - Hwang, Fraser, Silva, Sasa
Hwang is obviously a keep. Fraser we were trying to loan out so I think we need to do that to get him some game time. Silva has no interest in playing for us and needs to go. Sasa is injured and will be throughout the window so we will end up keeping him although he probably wont be fit until November. Given this just leaves Hwang fit and available, we need to add depth here. Cunha can slot in here when Hwang is out but really we need an out an out striker option for the bench that can also start. They will need to be happy with a smaller role in the team so an older or younger player or both.
Sell - Hoever, Bolla, Hubner, Cundle, Podence, Guedes, Campbell, Silva
Loan out - Lembikisa, Hodge, Enso , Chirewa, Fraser
Buy/Loan in - Winger x1/2, Striker x2

2024.05.21 11:31 Proy1958 Question for pro-Israel supporters

Disclaimer: the current situation in Gaza should not be compared to the Holocaust. And the Israeli government should not be compared to Nazi Germany. Doing so is by definition antisemitic, as defined by the IHRA; it also violates the rules of the sub
To pro-Israel supporters of the sub. Is your support of Israel conditional or unconditional?
Is there an action that the Israeli government could do that would cause you to drop your support for the nation of Israel
For example, if
1) Israel revokes the citizenship of all Arab Israelis, as Ben Gvir previously supported doing 2) Israel dropped a nuclear weapon on Gaza, such as Israel's Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu recommended; he was suspended for this comment 3) Israel permanently expelled everyone from Gaza 4) Israel begins executing the parents of terrorists or executing terrorists in front of their parents, as Smotrich has proposed 5) declaring Baruch Goldstein a national hero, as Ben Gvir has pushed for
Would you still support Israel? If yes, why?
Alternatively, if Israel
6) offered the PLO the identical peace plan Ehud Olmert had offered
7) unilaterally disengaged from the West Bank, forcibly removing 500,000 Israelis from the settlements in the process
8) renounced its claim to the Temple Mount and East Jerusalem
9) returned the Golan Heights to Syria
(I don’t think any of these will happen, but the Israeli left has floated all of these proposals from time to time)
Would you still support Israel then? If no, why not?

2024.05.21 11:20 Ok_Function4402 Work comp settlement

So I (26m) am receiving a work comp settlement that on my worst day is only worth $70,000 and on my very best day is worth a max of $150,000 (My lawyer will be taking 25%). A judge is going to be making a ruling as to whether I'll be receiving about $30,000 in back pay for benefits that were cut off and once the settlement is over I should also be receiving benefits for being rated totally and permanently disabled (A little over $500 a week). I owe about $13,000 in loans that I've had to take out to pay for bills over the past 2 years and I plan on spending $20,000-$25,000 in total on a vehicle after plates and a years worth of insurance because mine is on its last limb. So on my worst day I would have $14.5k left over and on my very best $74.5k (Without including potential back pay). With that in mind, in case of my worst day, would putting $10k into a HYSA with 5.21% interest and the remaining $4,500 into my checking account be the best idea for that scenario? And likewise for my best day where I would put $60k into the HYSA and the remaining $14.5k into checkings for monthly expenditures. In 20 years the $10k would only be worth $27,614 and the $60k would be worth $165,688. Is this the safest and most secure way to insure that I get some sort of accruing interest on my money without having to buy government I and E bonds that don't have as high of a return? What are some other things that I could do to be able to make my money, make money?

Have become conscious of some muscular imbalances in my general posture and workout form along with nerve tension in my left arm and my hamstrings when stretching these areas.
I am particularly looking for a physio who can assess my posture and movement patterns (e.g. the way I run, walk, sit, squat, bench, etc) to identify the causes of my issues and develop a plan of action.
Am open to going north side, south side, or Queanbeyan.

2024.05.21 10:24 Gorilla_Pie Electrical issues? Z3 3.0i

Hi there,
New to this group, apologies if I’m asking a classic question but really appreciate any advice. Not a mechanical mastermind so please be kind…
I have a 3.0i Z3 (year 2000) which is mechanically great but electronically less so. They’re shooting up in price but I’m reluctantly planning to sell as young kids are consuming my spare time, but can’t do so until I’ve resolved the below.
Twice in succession now I’ve invested in new batteries, the car has started up fine - then I disconnected the battery and when I came back to it a week or so later, the car completely refuses to start, despite the battery sparking and the dashboard display lighting up.
Negative terminal of battery was disconnected in the meantime and I even left the car unlocked to avoid any potential issues with the alarm/immobiliser. But a brand new battery shouldn’t lose charge in < 1 week, correct?
Does this issue sound familiar to any other owners? Wondering if the immobiliser may be to blame and it’s not a battery thing after all?
I’d be really grateful for any advice. Thanks in advance…

2024.05.21 10:02 Mitchyoucanscratch PKSM, or Transporter for Bank, Home, & Switch game legality?

Sorry if this gets a bit wordy, I'm having a hard time making this as concise as I would like.
I have a ROM of Pokemon White 2 which contains some (completely legal & unhacked) legends, events, shinies, & Ribbonmons that I plan on eventually migrating through my legit copies of Gen 6 & 7 games, then eventually on to Home/Gen 8/Gen 9. My question is:
1: If I use PKSM instead of the Pokemon Transporter app to move Pokemon from White 2 to an authentic Pokemon X cartridge, is there some kind of legality check that Bank/Home does that will flag when I eventually move them off that cartridge through Bank & Home?
It's my understanding that Transporter moves them from a Gen 5 save into Bank, so does that initial Transporter-to-Bank movement stick any sort of identifier onto them that would be missing if I just used PKSM, thus flagging Bank/Home that these Pokemon are illegal due to its absence? I believe Home uses what I've seen referred to as a Home Tracker ID, which if Home doesn't detect on something that logically should have it (e.g. a Pokemon on a Switch game originating from a pre-Home game, thus requiring to have passed through Home to be on the Switch in the first place), it doesn't play nice. Does Bank have anything like that/Does Home check for some sort of "Bank Tracker ID"?
Tl;dr, if I want to eventually migrate Pokemon from an older game to the latest games, does PKSM completely do the job, or am I shooting myself in the foot by not using the "official" methods?

2024.05.21 10:01 Apprehensive-Bar2206 28mm elmarit v3

Hi all,
On the verge of buying a 28mm elmarit v3. Found one in good condition with lenshood and case. I shoot an M2, but also see myself buying a digital M down the line (but not in the next 5 years). Mainly tri-x/hp5 now. I was wondering if someone has some examples of this lens on digital M? Mainly want to know if the lens is somewhat future proof. I like character and it does not have to be razor sharp like the new asph. I can afford this lens, but it is also at my limit. Choosing the leica over voigtlander because I really would like to have some leica glass and because of the resell value (if needed). Planning on keeping it though. Currently have a color skopar 35. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

🔗World War I and II Era 1911 Webley Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/08do7mt8kq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5f5e2e11c48bdfaeda4468ae54b40d161996708b
As a history buff, I was drawn to the Denix Webley Revolver replica, with its ties to the Indiana Jones movies. The first thing that struck me was its weight, which made it feel like a real gun. The details were incredibly accurate, right down to the checkered grip and the engraving on the barrel.
However, I found it a bit disappointing that the break-open action didn't work. It may be a minor issue for some, but for me, it took away a bit of the authenticity.
Nevertheless, it's a great display piece and does justice to its historical origins.

🔗1851 Navy Revolver: A Reliable and Handsome Sidearm for Gunfighters

https://preview.redd.it/4go1my59kq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28c7506795c59a3a51fb4017acb8028da750acc1
This antique beauty, the Polished Gold and Nickel M1851 Navy Revolver by Medieval Collectibles, is a sight to behold. The intricate details on this 4-barrel pistol bring it to life, transporting you back to the Civil War era, and even beyond.
The 7.5-inch barrel, with its octagonal design, has a timeless charm that's impossible to ignore. The solid frame exudes confidence and strength, much like the times it was used. At 13 inches in total length and a weight of 2.3 lbs. , it's a well-balanced sidearm for gun enthusiasts.
However, there are a few areas that might require attention. Some users have reported loose moving parts and issues with the plating, which could affect its overall durability. Additionally, there's been mention of sharp edges and misaligned fittings, which might not be ideal for those handling this piece.
Despite these setbacks, the M1851 Navy Revolver remains a coveted collectible. With the right care, it could become a prized possession, adding an element of history to your collection.

🔗Denix 1106N 1873 Old West Revolver .45 - 12.25 Inch Metal Barrel with Wood Grips

https://preview.redd.it/qioj11m9kq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=edd9aa1b35d2b8eebc4eb6cdc562852fce43d88c
I was pleasantly surprised by this 1873 Old West Revolver from Denix, it felt tough and well-constructed. The 5.5 inch black cast metal barrel and trigger give it a solid, weighted feel, while the genuine wood grips lent a touch of authenticity. In my daily life, it served as a perfect replica for a western-themed event and even in my holster, it looked great.
However, I did notice that the action of the trigger wasn't as smooth as it could be, but overall, this was a good purchase.

🔗Authentic Western Revolver with Gallery Stand (Metal Frame, 13-inch Overall)

https://preview.redd.it/xnfifxx9kq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4cc35c003453cfaeb4fda21ea1a01e1fc1799a2d
I've been using this decorative western-style navy revolver with a flint mechanism in my study, and it's quite a conversation starter. The ornate engravings on the barrel have made it a standout piece, drawing attention from my friends and family. The revolver's silver finish adds a touch of elegance to my space, making it a unique addition to my decor.
One thing I should mention, though, is the size. With an overall length of 13 inches, it takes up some room on my desk. It might be a bit too large for those with smaller studies, but it fits nicely in mine. The display stand provided is also quite handsome, complementing the revolver's design perfectly. Overall, I'd highly recommend this decorative piece to anyone looking for a standout addition to their study or office.

🔗Nickel-Finished 4-Barrel Non-Firing Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/jxxif3bakq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80bf5d7a949610578258166a18317218b5873fa5
The Denix CA Classic M1851 Navy Revolver, Nickel, is a replica that truly captures the essence of the original. This non-firing piece of artistry perfectly mimics the iconic revolver, with its nickel-finished metal barrel and imitation ivory grips. The simulated firing mechanism, rotating barrel, and overall design make it a showstopper, reminding me of classic Western movies.
Despite its impressive appearance, the replica weighs in at a mere 2.3 lbs, making it an easy piece to handle and carry around with pride. However, one downside I've noticed is the overall length, which measures at 13 inches, making storage a bit of a challenge – but it's a small price to pay for such an authentic and beautiful replica.

🔗Historic 4-Barrel Pistol Replica by Denix

As a fan of Civil War reenacting, the Denix 1849 Wells Fargo Revolver has been a game-changer for me. Its realistic look and feel are top-notch, making it an excellent addition to my outfit, giving it that authentic touch.
The black metal and nickel body, with its wood grips, is a delight to hold and adds a sense of weight to it - a detail that's hard to find in other replicas. However, I've also experienced some minor downsides, like the non-firing replica being the only type available. But overall, I'm thrilled with my purchase, and it has become a favorite in my collection.

🔗Nickel Finish Smith and Wesson 1869 Army Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/egr5fpyekq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=79eb49beb7c8fe2ae170a3c37b926897634afadd
As someone who's always been fascinated by the era of the Old West, I couldn't resist trying out this non-firing replica of the 1869 Army Revolver. Featuring a sleek nickel silver finish, this replica brought me back to the iconic "Cowboy" days.
Handling the replica felt like holding a piece of history, with the original's "single action" and "top break" mechanisms. It even had the added bonus of being a non-firing model, which meant I didn't have to worry about accidentally accidentally discharging it.
However, the size and weight of the replica were a bit more challenging to deal with, given that it's a faithful replica of the original. Despite this, I appreciated the fact that it gave me a better understanding of the real gun without the need to purchase one.
All in all, the Denix 1869 Army Revolver replica is a solid choice for anyone looking to step into the boots of a "Cowboy" in the Old West. Just be prepared to handle its size and weight!

🔗Authentic 1860 Civil War Revolver Replica for Display and Roleplay

https://preview.redd.it/bp7wlfbfkq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8a3efbba9331edff288cc804aca89a45e7516a78
This Denix replica of the Civil War M1860 Revolver has been a fascinating addition to my collection. It's a fun and affordable way to appreciate the rich history of firearms while staying in compliance with safety regulations. The nickel finish metal construction with wood grips is a lovely touch, not to mention the realistic weight that really helps complete the illusion. With its simulated mechanism of firing and loading, it's like handling the genuine article - just without the risk of accidentally discharging it.
However, there's one thing I wish they had addressed. The replica does make a bit of noise and rattle when shaken, which can be a bit bothersome. Overall, I've found this non-firing replica to be a thrilling and authentic-feeling prop that any history or firearms enthusiast would enjoy.

🔗Authentic 45 Peacemaker Replica Revolver by Denix

https://preview.redd.it/0j0fjqofkq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e77ed396defd0efe2047d70a5f4d1b185d6d2137
I recently added the Denix 0.45 Army Revolver Engraved Brass FD1280L to my collection, and it's been a fantastic addition. This non-firing replica, featuring a gold patina finish and a wooden grip, brings the 45 Peacemaker look to life. I'm impressed with its weight and the realistic feel it provides—almost like I'm holding a piece of history.
The engraving on this magnificent replica adds to its allure, making it a beautiful conversation starter. As a collector, I appreciate the authentic details—from the barrel length of 3.875 inches to the gold patina finish. The wooden grip not only enhances its aesthetic value but also makes it feel like a genuine piece from the past.
One thing to note, some users have mentioned they would have liked a red tip at the end of the barrel, like on the real 1873 Single-Action Army Revolver. However, this does not seem to be a deal-breaker as the majority of reviews praise its realism and quality.
Overall, I highly recommend the Denix 0.45 Army Revolver Engraved Brass FD1280L to anyone who loves history and wants a realistic replica in their hands.

🔗Giclee Canvas Artwork with Premium Epson Inks

I recently fell in love with the iCanvas Midtown Moonlight by Emma Bell Canvas Print. This stunning piece is a true testament to the beauty of fine-art paintings, offering a texture and feel that's second to none. What really sets this print apart is the use of professionally hand-stretched Premium Epson Inks, which have proven to be vivid, fade-resistant, and water-resistant—perfect for any living space!
One of my favorite aspects of this print is that it's ready to hang straight out of the box with no assembly needed. It even includes hanging accessories, making installation a breeze. With a 26x40 deep frame in 1.5" thickness, this canvas print has a premium quality that's both visually stunning and durable.
Having this iCanvas Midtown Moonlight on display has brought a sense of calm and wonder to my living space, and I'm grateful for the craftsmanship and care put into creating it.

🔗Authentic Nickel-Finished M1849 Dragoon Revolver Replica

https://preview.redd.it/ny2wrlhgkq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6dbc4004a46104c8a24e4c13020909e6aa5042c0
As a history enthusiast, I was thrilled to add the Denix M1849 Dragoon Revolver (DX1055G) to my collection of antique replicas. The overall aesthetic of this piece is simply stunning, with its antique nickel finish and rich brown wood grips.
Handling this replica feels quite authentic, thanks to Denix's attention to detail in recreating the feel of a genuine revolver. However, it's important for collectors to remember that while the locks on these replicas are mechanically functional, they are completely safe and non-fireable, requiring no federal license to buy or sell.
One of the most impressive aspects of this replica is its accuracy in capturing the historical design of the M1849 Dragoon Revolver. From its 14 1/4" overall length to its 4 3/4" barrel, every element has been meticulously crafted to ensure an accurate representation of the original firearm.
While some may argue that this replica is slightly more expensive than others on the market, I believe the high-quality craftsmanship and historical accuracy make it well worth the investment. Overall, the DX1055G Denix M1849 Dragoon Revolver is a stunning addition to any antique weapon collection.

🔗Realistic 19th Century Smith & Wesson Revolver Replica with Antique Blue Finish

https://preview.redd.it/d3jk3pvgkq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c612bd18023da80f64ad25b9944b387d29f7e618
I recently added the Denix Replicas 1008L to my collection, and let me tell you, it's quite the impressive addition. The brass and blue finish blend beautifully, capturing the essence of the original Smith and Wesson "First Model American" Army Revolver. It's interesting to see how the hinged frame and automatic ejection system were pivotal in the evolution of firearms.
Despite its antique charm, the replica still brings a sense of realism with its single action mechanism and top break loading design. The wood grips add a touch of refinement to the overall design. However, using it brought to light a minor flaw – the wood grip's durability. In my experience, the grip began to show signs of wear, which was a bit of a letdown.
Overall, the Denix Replicas 1008L is a delightful addition to any collection, and it serves as a great reminder of the technological advancements made in the field of firearms. Despite its minor flaw, the replica still holds a special place in my heart.

🔗High-Quality, Realistic Training Revolver for Martial Arts and Defense

Using the Cold Steel Ruger Super Redhawk Rubber Training Revolver has been quite an experience. This training revolver stands out with its lime green color, making it perfect for anyone looking to train safely without the fear of accidentally shooting someone. The thickness of 1.88 inches and the overall length of 13 inches provide a realistic feel when practicing drawing techniques from the holster or disarming moves in close quarter situations. The polymer material makes it sturdy enough for rigorous training without being too harsh, thanks to the softness that allows for safe hand-to-hand striking.
However, it's essential to note that the barrel might have a bit of give and could bend a little under pressure, which could raise some concerns for serious martial artists or defense trainers. Nonetheless, this Cold Steel Ruger Super Redhawk Revolver is a reliable training partner, especially considering its affordable price and the fact that it's modeled after one of America's popular pistols, offering a practical yet cost-effective solution for gun enthusiasts or martial arts professionals.

🔗Realistic Navy Engraved Civil War Revolver Pistol Replica

https://preview.redd.it/5e6qfvohkq1d1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2e1afd73f2d53cd538b017ce82179f302174fa96
I recently had the pleasure of using the DENIX Navy Engraved Civil War Revolver Pistol Replica in my daily life and I must say, it was quite an experience. The stunning Navy Blue color of the gun immediately caught my attention, and the intricate engravings on the barrel made it look like a piece of art.
One of the features that stood out to me was the wood grips. They not only added to the overall aesthetic of the pistol, but also provided a comfortable grip that made it easy to hold and handle. The 13-inch overall length of the replica was just the right size for displaying and admiring it.
However, the replica did have some limitations, such as the fact that it is non-functional and intended only for collection and decoration. This might be a letdown for those looking for a fully realistic or firing replica. Additionally, the mechanics of the locks on the replica firearms are completely safe, but the unrealistic use of purchasing and possessing it should be double-checked in your local area.
Despite the minor drawbacks, the DENIX Navy Engraved Civil War Revolver Pistol Replica is a beautiful and reliable addition to any collection, and it certainly turned heads when I displayed it in my home.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to purchasing a Cold Steel Revolver, there are several factors you need to consider to ensure you get the best product for your needs. Here's a comprehensive buyer's guide to help you make an informed decision.

Materials and Build Quality

The materials and build quality of a Cold Steel Revolver are crucial factors to consider, as they directly affect the revolver's durability and performance. Look for revolvers made from high-quality materials like stainless steel or zinc-alloy, which are more resistant to corrosion and provide better strength and longevity.

Size and Weight

Consider the size and weight of the Cold Steel Revolver based on your intended use. If you plan to carry the revolver for self-defense, a compact and lightweight design is more suitable. Conversely, if you need a larger caliber for hunting or professional use, a heavier and more robust model is recommended.

Concealed Carry Features

If you plan to use the Cold Steel Revolver for self-defense purposes, look for revolvers with concealed carry features, such as a built-in guard, short barrel, or slim profile. These features help to keep the revolver hidden and easily accessible when needed.

Safety Features

Safety is a critical aspect when choosing a Cold Steel Revolver. Look for models with built-in safety features, such as a transfer bar or hammer block, to prevent accidental discharges. Additionally, consider models with manual safeties, like a trigger guard or grip safety, for added security.

2024.05.21 09:47 olemin Notorious loyalist was 'a state agent' - claims

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cl5548dq2dno
Mandy McAuley Reporter, BBC Spotlight Published 21 May 2024, 06:01 BST Updated 1 hour ago A loyalist killer has claimed the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) believed Billy Wright, the organisation’s leader in Mid Ulster, was a state agent.
Laurence Maguire told BBC NI’s Spotlight programme he had been called to answer questions about Wright for a UVF inquiry in the 1990s.
Maguire said he had begun to have suspicions when Wright stopped him from killing three suspected Irish Republican Army (IRA) members, who were later killed by the republican group - accused of being state agents.
The revelation comes after the government asked the Supreme Court to rule on whether to keep some intelligence on UVF murders a secret.

The loyalist paramilitary group has been linked to multiple killings.
Parts of Laurence Maguire’s interview were first broadcast in 2019, but further details of what he told Spotlight have become more relevant because of information which emerged at recently stalled inquests.
Maguire, who was jailed in 1994 for five murders, told Spotlight that Wright had asked him to track three men believed to be in the IRA.
He described following them weekly, and his plan to shoot them in a rural park outside Dungannon.
But, he said, whenever he proposed the attack, Billy Wright “was putting it back”.
“I thought there was something strange about it, and when I look back now, it seems there was a lot of strange things about it,” Maguire said.

Shortly afterwards, in July 1992, the three men – Gregory Burns, Aidan Starrs and John Dignam – were abducted and killed by the IRA.
The IRA said all three men were informers, and had been involved in the murder of Portadown woman Margaret Perry because she had learned that Burns was working for the intelligence services.
Former IRA member Tommy McKearney, whose brother and uncle were killed by Wright’s gang, said Maguire’s story raised the question of whether Wright had been protecting the IRA men because they were informants.
If Wright “was an agent”, he asked, “was he acting on orders to prevent Laurence Maguire operating against them?”
Maguire said he had subsequently been questioned by the UVF as part of an investigation into “suspicions” about Wright.
“I think it came to light that he was definitely working for somebody else.
“I just call it the Crown," he said.
Bernie McKearney Image caption, Bernie McKearney's husband and parents were killed in 1992
An inquest into UVF murders in Mid Ulster heard earlier this year that the late Progressive Unionist Party leader, David Ervine, had headed just such an inquiry into Billy Wright.
The court heard the investigation had collapsed when another senior UVF figure, and suspected police informer, Robin Jackson, did not show up to testify against Wright.
Jackson, who has since died, was also named in court documents as being suspected of involvement in a number of attacks in Mid Ulster.
Bernie McKearney’s husband and parents were killed in attacks carried out by Mid Ulster UVF in 1992.
Inquests into the deaths of Kevin and John McKearney, and Charles and Teresa Fox, stalled earlier this year when the secretary of state took legal action to prevent some material from being released.
“I do get emotional at times and I hate it, because I try to be a strong person,” Bernie McKearney said.
“But it has been hard knowing that if Kevin had have got the protection that state agents got, he could be living today."
Kevin and John McKearney scene IMAGE SOURCE,PACEMAKER Image caption, Kevin and John McKearney were attacked in the family butcher shop in Moy
Other former UVF figures have also accused Wright of being an agent.
Former Police Ombudsman Baroness Nuala O’Loan said, “I think we know that Billy Wright was an informant."
She is critical of the government’s legal action, describing it as “absolutely appalling”.
“There is no justification whatsoever for denying them information which may have been of some significance to national security 30 years ago or years ago, but which now cannot, in many cases, be of any significance whatsoever.”
Wright broke away from the UVF in 1996 to form the Loyalist Volunteer Force and was killed in the Maze Prison the following year.
All Troubles-era cases are now being referred to a new body known as the Independent Commission for Reconciliation and Information Recovery (ICRIR).
The Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI), Jon Boutcher, has said he is prepared to give material to new investigators “without condition and without redaction”.
PSNI chief constable Jon Boutcher IMAGE SOURCE,PA Image caption, The Chief Constable Jon Boutcher said he is prepared to give police material to new investigators
The Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Northern Ireland Office, Lord Caine, encouraged families to work with the ICRIR, external.
“This is now before the courts and we have to await the court’s judgement," he said.
“What I would do, is encourage families who have lost loved ones, or whose loved ones are seriously injured, to work with the new body under the distinguished leadership of Sir Declan Morgan.”
In April it emerged Laurence Maguire would be prosecuted for conspiracy to murder and possession of firearms, following admissions he made to the Spotlight Programme broadcast in 2019.
Spotlight: Killer Secrets is available to watch on the BBC iPlayer and on BBC One Northern Ireland at 22.40 on Tuesday 21 May.

2024.05.21 09:46 waltjrimmer Vault 387: Experimental Pip-Boy testing

Terminal of Lorna Pace:
    2079-01-06
Kurt’s been acting weird lately. Last Tuesday, he and Lillian were seen arguing in the hallway outside the mess. I’ve never seen those two fight. Through the famine, when the bombs dropped, even living down here in this cramped space, I’ve never heard so much as a raised voice coming from them, and today it looked like Kurt was about to strangle Lil. It worries me. If people as sweet as them could start falling apart, what about George and I?
    2085-03-12
My Pip-Boy scared the wits out of me yesterday! I was sitting around, listening to the radio when suddenly an alarm started going off. It said proximity threat detected. I didn’t know what to do, so I ran out into the hall and called for help. Steve, Eddy, and Doctor Marc all came running. I showed them, and Eddy said it was probably a malfunction and asked if he could take it. But I insisted that Steve look around and Doctor Marc joined him. Next thing I know, they find George, lying on the ground, barely breathing. I thought he’d been attacked, but Doctor Marc took said he had a heart attack. After Steve searched everywhere and George was taken to the clinic, Doctor Marc said he could easily have died if we’d taken much more time to find him. I don’t know what kind of malfunction that was, but someone was sure looking out for us.
    2087-08-11
I haven’t seen as many people together since the first Christmas after we all got trapped down here. It had only been two months since the world died, and we were all tense. We needed a way to relax and forget the horror that we were living in. The Overseer decided to throw a big holiday party. But no one felt like dancing. No one felt like celebrating. We were all together in a huge room, all something like five-hundred of us. And no one was doing anything more than drinking and muttering. Until George marched up to the Overseer’s podium and started singing. It was ridiculous. There was no music, George was no great singer, and the acoustics were horrendous. But it didn’t matter. George didn’t get embarrassed like that. He started singing to the room, to himself, maybe to me. It didn’t matter. He gave that room the push it needed. Roy Chen took it home, now that man can sing. But he’d never gone more than five feet away from the punch bowl until George went up first. Roy sang again today. Everyone gave kind words. It was nice to see everyone come together. I just wish he could have seen how much he inspired everyone.
    2092-05-27
I had a nice talk with George today. I told him about the neighbors. We got a new Overseer this week, and he seemed especially interested in that. I didn’t even get to what the Davenport girl did before he got too tired to keep going. I miss when we could talk long into the night. But most people don’t get the chance that I do. I was a mess for a week after the funeral until I saw the pop-up on my Pip-Boy. I don’t understand how it happened, but it saved George once, and I guess it just saved him again in a different way. I know that it’s saved me.

Terminal of Ashley Davenport:
    2080-03-29
I think my Pip-Boy is malfunctioning. I was out with Lillian McTavish and Eva Tenley, having our little gossip club, when as I went to take a sip of wine, my Pip-Boy started flashing. It was something I’d never seen before telling me to, “Drink more milk.” I don’t think we even have any milk left! I asked the girls about it and they said they’d never seen anything like it. I think it might have been an old ad left over from before the bombs fell, but weren’t these only meant for vault dwellers? I just don’t understand who would use that.
    2086-03-15
Little Suzie is growing up to be such a sweetheart! She turned five a couple of months ago, and Michael and I couldn’t be prouder! But, we didn’t have anything to give to her. It’s one of the bitter-sweet parts of living in a vault like this. All of our needs are taken care of, but we can’t exactly go to the store and buy the newest knick-knack. I asked Eve if she could make a new dress for her, but she said she’d run out of fresh materials six months ago. She said she could take one of the old dresses and just, you know, make it smaller. But it didn’t feel right. So instead, I know the Overseer said we shouldn’t, but I took off my Pip-Boy and let her play with it sometimes when I’m not using it. I don’t see why she finds it so fascinating, but she seems to love playing with all the knobs and dials on it.
    2086-07-23
I’m starting to worry about Suzie. I know that kids like to have imaginary friends, especially since we don’t have a lot of other kids to play with down here. But when I was young, I kept my imaginary friend to making mud pies in the yard or written about in my diary. Suzy walks around talking to my Pip-Boy like it’s her best friend. I’m worried that if she keeps this up, her few chances for real friends and, when she’s ready, even a husband might be hurt. She’s just not acting normal anymore. And that’s just… It’s hard enough to hide those things when you’re living in a house with a fence around it. Sometimes I feel like our lives are on display for all to see. You simply can’t let your reputation fall around here or you end up like the McTavish’s.
    2091-01-09
Suzie just turned ten, and the Overseer said she could officially have her own Pip-Boy now. The way he said it, I think he knew she’d been using mine for years. She asked if she could have mine, saying that if I still needed one that she’d swap mine for whatever one they gave her. I asked her why. She claimed that she was just used to mine, that it reminded her of me. But I know when my daughter is lying to me. I thought we’d cured her of this ridiculous fantasy that this machine was a friend to her. We have actual talking robots that she didn’t get nearly as attached to. I just don’t understand her or what I should do. I told her absolutely not, and that she would get whatever Pib-Boy the overseer and the men in engineering saw fit to get her. She wasn’t happy, but I’m hoping that it helps her finally divorce from this childish fancy of hers.

Terminal of Lillian McTavish:
    2081-04-08
I don’t understand how Kurt keeps finding out about me. George would have been more embarrassed than I would have been, so I know he didn’t say anything. I know Eva and Eddy can be trusted. Ash wouldn’t risk her dream marriage and that precious baby of hers. And Grahame, the poor dear, died smoking in his bed before he could have gotten the chance. I’ve been careful and discrete, and yet every time I go to have a little fun for myself, he knows. Is he following me? I need to get to the bottom of this if I ever want to experience a night of pleasure again.
    2082-12-28
Kurt was released today, against all my protests. We’re still technically married, but part of his release was that he had to stay to certain sections of the vault. This place is small, but it’s large enough that we should never have to see each other. He’s also got a new work assignment, and they took away his Pip-Boy. It still makes me nervous to be alone. Every time I’ve turned around for this past year and a half, I’ve been scared he’s going to be there. How am I supposed to feel safe now that he’s free to roam about?
    2087-05-01
I saw Kurt today. He looked peaceful. Honestly, for a second, he looked happy. He was laughing with some of the security guys over beers and cards. Then he saw me walking by with Calvin Hanson on my arm and his face fell a little. I have to say, mine did too. Our marriage has been effectively over for a long time, even before the bombs fell. And I still don’t think I’d be able to stand to be in a room with him without shaking given what happened. But seeing him there, I was reminded of a better time. A time we made each other happy instead of miserable. When we cared for each other instead of seeing how best to hurt each other. I don’t love him anymore. I can never forgive him. But I suppose I wish it had all turned out differently.

Terminal of Steve Robertson:
    2081-04-14
I had to put Kurt McTavish into our holding cell today. Virgil and I heard someone screaming halfway across the vault and had to pull him off of Lillian. She was unrecognizable. I’m not sure her face will ever be the same, but the good news is that she’s alive. When we asked him about what happened, he told us, “That damn whore can’t keep her legs shut to save her life.” Virgil asked him about it and how he knew about Lillian stepping out, and he just kept telling us, “I know, and that’s all that matters.” The overseer has final say on how we handle this, but the boys in security want him kept down here. I know Kurt, he’s a good guy. But this is the last thing we need.
    2085-04-10
I’m either losing my mind or someone is fucking with me. I’m wondering if it’s Eddy. He works with Pip-Boys, I saw him take Lorne’s for maintenance not too long ago. A few days later, mine starts acting up, saying weird shit. Things like, “Don’t trust Virgil,” and, “Watch your back.” Whenever I go to show someone else, it disappears. I took it to engineering, had them run diagnostics and there’s nothing in the logs. I don’t know who’s doing it, I don’t know what they want, but I’m don’t find it funny!
    2085-08-02
I don’t know what to say. I really thought I was going crazy for a while. I think… I think I did go crazy for a while there. I got paranoid, thinking someone was out to get me, started wearing my gun to bed, thought about shooting Virgil before he could shoot me. Thankfully, I convinced myself I needed evidence. I broke into his living quarters, half expecting to find nothing, half expecting to find a bomb or assassination plans or something. I never expected to find Suzie’s toy car or half of Roy Chen’s wardrobe. Virgil had property from damn near everyone in his sector and several from all across the vault. He even had a few things out of the security lockers, some of it mine. I don’t know how long he’d been stealing while out on patrol, but some of the stuff looked pretty old. The weird thing? Ever since I went in his room and brought it to the Overseer’s attention, my Pip-Boy stopped acting weird.

WARNING! What follows is CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION and should only be viewed by or under the supervision of a VAULT-TEC EXECUTIVE! Failure to follow these instructions will be met with LEGAL and CIVIL ACTION!

Vault commissioned by: RobCo Industries
Location: Sacramento, California
Admittance: 500 members of the general population. No restrictions or special instruction. Pricing and selection can be left to Vault-Tec.
Purpose: To test potential new features to Pip-Boy technology, intorudicing an advanced form of AI to work as a personal assistant, telling the wearer what they may need or want before they even know they want it.
Experiment: In a select number of Pip-Boys, about 50 of the 750 supplied to the vault, there will be installed an experimental AI meant to predict the user's needs and wants. The ability to field-test an AI like this without it being compared to our previous products, such as the often prone to error Mr. Handy or the primative AI installed in most Protectron models, is extremely limited. First impressions are going to be vital when this comes to market, and having a literally captive audience to test it out on and find any bugs or faults before they even know what it is they're interacting with will be invaluable.
The AI in these prototype Pip-Boys has the potential to be very powerful, but it's proved incredibly difficult to compress such a complex machine into such a small package. There are more storage and cooling options in the larger robots and machines. This prototype is a little slow and imperfect, but given time it should not only be able to respond to the user but to make preditictions or even emulate a personality that can be adapted on the fly. Or, at least, after a long enough time for it to process all the necessary data. It still needs a lot of work, but that's part of the hope of this experiment is to use it as a way to find places where improvements could be made to further improve it and prepare it for market.

2024.05.21 09:40 Saintly009 26 [M4F] Christian man seeking Christian woman #Washington #Online

I'm told women want a man who knows what he wants, so here's the whole nine yards. If there is anything here that you are not willing to accept, then don't. You will not change me now or years down the line. Obviously I intend to grow and mature (as one ought to), but I have decided who I am and what I want out of a relationship.
I am looking for a woman that I can make a permanent covenant bond with; I have no interest in flings or "long-term relationships."
I don't intend to come across as bitter or angry with any of this, just clear and up-front. It makes things easier for both of us.
A bit about me:
My faith in Christ is paramount in my life. I would not be where I am without him. In taking interests in various things, I've learned a lot about God's character and design. Each new thing I learn fills me with more worship of him and wonder at his works. It is very important to me that you share this admiration of God.
I have a full-time job that I am very satisfied with, but what I feel truly passionate about is art and storytelling. To be honest, I've hit a bit of a block lately as far as my output. But I've been trying to find my feet so I can make something valuable to share with the world. I think that art and stories are a fundamental part of being human, not just a luxury. So pretty much any kind of art will spark passion in me, be it music, cinema, video games, literature, video essay, sculpture, etc. I could go back and forth for hours on a lot of things. My hope is that you and I will be able to enjoy art together and create some of our own.
I frequently spend time with another gentleman from my Church and we enjoy conversations about personal projects and contemporary issues, along with walks along beaches and park trails. He is a very important friend in my life, and I am lucky to know such a kind soul. Things aren't well with my family, so I really need that kind of presence.
While I rely on my bicycle for transport (no car), it's not a problem for me. I've been riding bikes since I was in elementary school (maybe even before). It would be really nice to ride down some trails with you.
What I expect from you:
-You need to be a follower of Jesus Christ. God needs to be an active part of your life because I intend to raise our children under Biblical values.
-You need hobbies and interests apart from me. I'm fine with helping you find things you like.
-You need to have no mileage.
-You must be humble and respectful. "Boss babe" attitudes are not attractive to me.
-You cannot have any tattoos or piercings.
-No cosmetic products. It's not good for your body and I am attracted women, not makeup. This includes fake nails and fake eyelashes. I don't need you to look "pretty." You character is more important to me.
-Related to the previous, no use of image filters in photos. I do not like the type of people who are vain and vapid enough to feel the need to use filters on their photos.
-Again related to the previous, you need to have a limited social media presence. If you have a business or post something of value (like art, for example), then I have no problem. What I'm talking about is having an Instagram or Facebook account where you make random posts to nobody in particular to "update" the internet on your life or post tons of pictures of yourself online. Basing your self-worth on the comments and likes from strangers on the internet is unhealthy, and I find people's obsessive need to take pictures of themselves very unattractive and vain.
-If we marry, I expect you treat me as the head of the house. There can't be two leaders in a household because one will have to submit to the other.
-I expect you to view marriage as something that you put work into. Marriages are a team effort, so I expect you to be a help meet.
-You need to treat me like a partner, not an adversary. Getting into arguments and nagging me helps neither of us. You must have conflict-resolution skills and a solution mindset.
-You need excellent communication skills. This means understanding yourself, putting your thoughts into words other people can understand, and verbalizing things rather than expecting me to read your thoughts.
-You cannot play games with me. Telling me about other guys to make me jealous or planning dates for specific days to pressure me into committing to you are wicked and manipulative.
-While we are dating, you cannot have a "backup plan." I expect you to not be splitting your attention between me and other men. This includes spending time outside of work with other men (family excluded).
-You must be in shape. Don't be dishonest with yourself about your weight; check your BMI. This includes being underweight, anorexic, and bulimic.
-You cannot have taken any COVID-19 vaccinations from any provider.
-No smoking, drugs, or drunkenness.
-I expect you to completely renounce fast food if we date or marry. We will never feed our children McDonald's.
What you can expect from me:
-While we are dating, I will not be speaking to other women.
-I cannot meet your height, money, or attractiveness expectations. I am simply an average dude. I am critical, abstract, and imaginative in my thinking though.
-I will not ask you to do something that is unreasonable or demeaning. I will only ask of you what I expect from myself. No relationship is going to be 50/50 100% of the time, but I will put forth the effort I am able to. I expect the same out of you.
-I will not raise my hand against you. My hands will be a safe place for you.
-I will be available to listen to your troubles and help you bear through them.
-I will not demean you or humiliate you, whether or not you are in the room.
-I will show leadership in our house and exercise restraint with a mild temper.
-I will cherish you and treat you as my own body.
-I will devote myself to displaying my love for you in a language you understand, even if I am feeling distant from you because of troubles we face. I expect the same from you.
-I will not turn to another woman and betray you.
-I intend to keep every promise that I make with you.
-I will treat our children with patience and kindness, but diligently discipline them and instruct them appropriately.
Please tell me a bit about yourself and what you expect out of a relationship, but be practical and clear. A list of platitudes like "loyal, honest, etc" does not help me understand what you're looking for. Think about what your expectations look like in a tangible, everyday way.

2024.05.21 09:36 CluelessDoom Yet Another SuperSquats Results Post

Hi there,
I've recently finished SuperSquats just like another fellow gainer u/Runopologist who wrote an extensive post on hist SuperSquats run -> HERE. So i'll let myself skip the fluff ;)
Background & Training History
Almost 40y, M, 187cm/6'2, 97.5kg/215lbs (now) Began lifting in 2019 after 3years fat loss journey (120kg->76kg) started in 2016.
First program i've ever run was GZCLP, after 6m newbie gains pattered out and Covid struck. Eventually i've ended up in my garage building wooden rack to never looked back.
After gzclp i've fiddled with leangains but it didn't stick. Then i've run various 5/3/1 templates for better or worse. Generally i wasn't happy with my progress - lack of muscle mass(although i did gain some) and playing into clean/slow bulk fallacy(imho) caused me to spin wheels. So this year, after winter hiatus (lifting at freezing temperatures of 0C is no fun at all) I've deciced to embrace the bulk and see what happens. After all i KNOW how to stuff myself with copious amounts of food AND how to loose weight. Kudos to u/MythicalStrength and his "fat loss is easy" posts for stating the (now) obvious.
My SuperSquats
I did not run SuperSquats to the T. First change was dropping Rader chest pull - replaced with straight arm cable pulldowns - bonus for finally feeling triceps long head being worked. Second one was running it as uppelower split - due to time constraints(father of 6 did i mention that?)
Diet
Well I never had problem with undereating. So on top of regular 3 meal times (breakfast/dinnesupper) i had 2-3 full fat milka&protein shakes 60g protein each. And my own PBJ: THC, Toasted bread* Ham & Cheese. In general i've been hovering between 4k - 4,5k. I didn't count kcal on purpouse. And avoiding PUFAs as plague.
* I hail from place where bread means "sourdough bread" not the spongy thingie that tastes like cotton wool - thats called "toast bread".
Lifts. I went with conservative weight selection for all the lifts.
squats 40kg x20 -> 92.5 x15 - last workouts were more rest/pause-like. Funny thing is that it's the upper back( bar hold) that was failing not the legs.
bench: 60kg x12 -> 67.5 x12. Worth mentioning because at 3rd workout i've failed 3 straight sets of 12@60 - i had to spread last set over several ones. However during the last workout it was clean 12x67.5kg in 3 straight sets.
btn: Never done this lift so i've been estimating it based on my front/oh press. I've started with empty bar hit plateau at 32.5 rollbacked to 25kg all to 10x 37.5kg in the last workout.
Other lifts were ok - nothing worth mentioning
Results
Weight gain
I've started SuperSquats at 86kg after running 6weeks of PSMF (dropping from 93kg). Now i sit at 97.5 kgs.
Thats 11.5kg which is 25lbs.
The gut got bigger. But that was expected. T-shirts and pants feel tighter in all the right places. But i wont try to guesstimate fat/muscle ratio. Probably more fat than muscle. But remember fat loss is easy!
Future I plan to run the strength program mentioned in SuperSquats book with DanJohn's squat 101 from Mass Made Simple - just to relearn squating. diet wise - dial back to ~2,5k kcals and lass carbs Then it's going to be cutting time - so maybe Jamie Lewis Feast&Famine, PSMF or Velocity diet - not sure which one.
[Edit]
Progress pics:
I dont have pre-supersquats photo. but just for refrence i give you one from weightloss period ~late 2017 where i've weighted 95kg. https://imgur.com/a/FTgO8ed

2024.05.21 09:35 Sharp-Energy-4490 Need Career advice for Medical Lab Technologist in Canada

Hello friends,
I am seeking the right advice for my career in Canada. I did 3 years in BSc. Microbiology from India. Moreover, I recently finished my one-year Post Graduation Diploma in MLT(Medical Lab Technology) in April 2024.
Furthermore, I have 2 years of experience working part-time as a Medical Lab technician in a hospital while studying for my MLT.
Now I am planning to move to Canada as a PR as my fiancee is a Permanent Resident of Canada.
I did some research about what kind of certification we need to get a job. The certification is CSMLS(Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science). There is a specific stream which is IEMLT(Internationally Educated Medical Lab Technologists).
Does any lab in Ontario hire internationally experienced professionals without CSMLS or CMLTO?
I am thinking of doing a job and preparing for the certification exam in my free time.
I appreciate your time and your advice.
Thank you so much!
