2024.05.21 13:49 Von_und_zu_ Court Judgment and Official Press Summary of Mr. Justice Fancourt's Decision Today on Harold's attempts to amend and broaden his claims against NGN
Press Summary:
https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Duke-of-Sussex-v-News-Group-Judgment-Press-Summary-21.5.24.pdf Judgment:
https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Duke-of-Sussex-v-NGN-Final-Amendment-Judgment.pdf Summary explains that Harold was ordered to amend his claims in July 2023, but that he failed to comply with that order. Harold however attempted to add other allegations, which were allowed in part and denied in larger part.
This is from the summary:
- This judgment is given in the claim of Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, against News Group Newspapers Ltd (“NGN”). It concerns the Duke’s application for permission to amend his claim form and statement of claim.
- There are two different parts to the judgment. The first concerns whether the Duke has complied with an order made in July 2023 requiring him to make amendments to his claim form and particulars of claim as a result of the judgment given for NGN in July 2023 on the Duke’s claim for phone hacking (“the consequential amendments”). The second concerns other amendments that the Duke sought to make to his claim form and particulars of claim to add further claims (“the voluntary amendments”).
- On the consequential amendments, I have concluded that the Duke has not complied with the July 2023 Order because he has not removed from his claim the facts alleged solely in relation to phone hacking and accessory wrongs nor clarified the facts alleged in relation to the remaining causes of action, namely blagging of private information by journalists or private investigators, and other unlawful information gathering conducted by private investigators that is not accessory to actual or attempted phone hacking.
- The Duke will therefore be required to comply fully with the July 2023 Order if he intends to pursue his claim for these other alleged wrongs.
- As for the voluntary amendments, there was a variety of different types of amendment sought, on which I have ruled separately whether these can be permitted at this quite late stage of this litigation.
- By way of summary of the main points decided, I have:
a. Refused permission to add new allegations relating to the years 1994, 1995 and 2016 (I think these relate to Megsy), which were not within the scope of the existing claim;
b. Refused permission for other amendments that add to the allegations of phone hacking;
c. Refused permission for amendments that only plead matters of evidence, including similar fact evidence on which the Duke will seek to rely at trial;
d. Granted permission in principle for amendments naming and making allegations against certain further journalists and private investigators;
e. Granted permission in principle for allegations of landline voicemail interception and interception of landline and mobile telephone calls conditionally on the Duke clarifying what landline numbers are the subject of the allegations, and on the basis that these claims do not “relate back” to the issue of the claim form in September 2019 for limitation purposes;
f. Indicated that I will in principle grant permission for the Duke to amend his claim to substitute allegations of breach of confidentiality for allegations of misuse of private information between 1996 and 2 October 2000, provided that adequate particulars of the confidential information, the duty of confidentiality on NGN and alleged breaches of confidentiality are pleaded.

2024.05.21 13:27 Balance- Overview of M.2 / PCIe NPUs
With Microsoft releasing their Copilot+ certification, we will see a big boost in NPU availability. These Copilot+ PCs need at least 16 GB of RAM and 100+ GB/s bandwidth, so I was looking if there were already dedicated cards that could do that.
A challenge with that is memory bandwidth, since even the PCIe 5.0 x16 bus offers "only" 63 GB/s.
These are the current accelerators availed.
- TensTorrent has the Grayskull e75 and Grayskull e150, which are expected to provide 221 and 332 TOPS (FP8) respectively, both with 8GB LPDDR4 @ 118.4 GB/sec memory and a PCIe 4.0 x16 interface (31.5 GB/s).
- The Kinara Ara-2 is expected to offer 20 TOPS with a TDP of less than 6 watts. It is available not only in M.2 and USB formats (with 2 or 8 GB memory) but also as a PCIe AI accelerator card with four of these Ara-2 chips.
- The Hailo-8 M.2 AI Acceleration Module is a small M.2 2242 NPU with 26 TOPS and a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface (2 GB/s). It uses the host system's memory.
- The Falcon Lite is a PCIe card with 1, 2, or 4 Hailo-8 AI Processors, providing up to 106 TOPS.
- The Falcon-H8 goes up to 6 Hailo-8 AI Processors, providing up to 156 TOPS.
- The Hailo-10H AI processor is expected to provide up to 40 TOPS in an M.2 2242 card with a power consumption of 3.5 watts. It has 8GB LPDDR4 and a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface (4 GB/s).
- The Coral Mini PCIe Accelerator is a $25 NPU that offers 4 TOPS (int8) under 2 watts of power consumption, in Mini PCIe or M.2 2230 form-factor with a PCIe 2.0 x1 interface. They also have an M.2 2230 version with 2 of these Edge TPUs, for $40.
So they are indeed slowly emerging, but only the TensTorrent accelerators beat the memory bandwidth requirement, currently. Each application requires a different ratio of processing power to memory bandwidth, which you also see reflected in the various accelerators.
Finally, for comparison, the RTX 4060 has 242 TOPS (with 272 GB/s and 115W TDP) and an RTX 4090 has 1321 TOPS (with 1008 GB/s and 450W TDP).

2024.05.21 12:42 kfc3pcbox First satisfying run
Got the Kingdom of Ireland formed and feel so satisfied with it. I am pretty new to the game and this is the first run where I felt like I intentionally made stuff happen.
Diplomacy based RP run. Made a good few strong allies early in with Bavaria, England, some strong French vassals. Gave me a lot of space from my Irish rivals and would-be Norse challengers. My strength at peak (around 15 years in) was at 20k+ stacked against my strongest threat coming in around 5-8k soldiers.
Really played into the gregarious trait, made a lot of friends including the catholic pope early on (for gold injections) and held a middling to decent court with an Excellent marshall. Played the county control game while I slowly vassalized most of the Irish land holders. Only waged two short wars internally.
Realised pretty quick that Insularism was delaying me diplomatically, so went on a short pilgrimage and converted my faith and that of my house members to Catholicsm. I’m sure I could have played the long game and taken Insularism through but I didn’t see any RP reasons not to convert as I was playing a socialite ruler who saw through the folly of needless war.
In amongst all this a few plagues afflicted us. I had a brilliant physician who controlled them well. I also built one set of hospices in Luimneach.
My first wife bore me four children. She and my fifth born child died during labour.
Increased legitimacy via hunts, the aforementioned pilgrimage and by holding Bavaria well in their defensive war.
Now I’m close to 60 alliegances are dwindling due to allies old age. England has had Robert succeed who is weakening by the month. I am still a strong player militarily in Europe now especially with Ireland united. So I can see the angle to unite Britannia and set Irish culture as a global force.
I am sure I still have no idea what I’m doing!!!!
House is burgeoning, the Kingdom is formed. I feel good about it! But I’m sure it will go to shit when my son inherits. Such is life :)

2024.05.21 10:43 devilmaskrascal #1 pet peeve about Japan: online form entry that expects Japanese names
I'm in the process of moving and changing my utilities and stuff. It drives me up a wall that even large regional or nationwide electric and internet companies have a pre-existing assumption that the person applying will have a Japanese name.
I don't mind the furigana which is fine, but when I'm trying to register a credit card, telling me I can't put a space in between my gaijin names, this often essentially means I can't use the credit card since it won't match the record. I have to call the company almost every time to work around the stupid limitations they put on the application, and sometimes even then they can't figure out a way to register it because of their own internal limitations.
Many forms have a character length limitation so if you are like me and have your middle name registered on all your documentation you sometimes exceed the maximum number of characters in the field, since Japanese kanji names rarely go past maybe 6 characters. I feel bad for Thai residents who often have notoriously long names lol.
I get it, non-Japanese foreigners are like 3% or less of the population, but speaking as a programmer it's really not that hard to have a little flexibility so you get the correct information. I don't think it's intentional or anything, but how do we get companies to give a damn about helping us buy their product easier?
And for extra exacerbation, why do they jump back and forth between half and full width kana requirements, which if you screw up changing a full width dash to half width causes "errors" that means you have to re-enter half the information? They can't write a script that switches those values automatically between the types so we don't have to care?
To be fair, this is pretty first world problems territory though.

2024.05.21 10:36 Arctodus Impressions of Leviathan Wilds, Slay the Spire, Cascadero/dito, Spectral, and Harmonies
The world conspired in the best of ways to bless me with a whole bunch of new games at once and I happened to be able to get in a lot of plays quickly with them.
Always get an idea of who's talking before you take anything away from these reviews/impressions. Maybe we're really different people. I've been in the hobby for 10+ years. I've played a lot of games. I love interactive and mechanically unique games. I worship Reiner Knizia. Some of my favorite games are Tigris and Euphrates, Spirit Island, Race for the Galaxy, Agricola, Battle Line, and Oath. My favorite games of last year were Stationfall, Ra (reprint), and Zoo Vadis.
Okay, let's go!
Cascadito/Cascadero - Is this a Pokemon Red/Blue scenario? No! There's room for both halves of this pair of Knizias in a collection. I think Cascadero is the better game, but Cascadito slides onto our table more easily. I'm a bit of a believer in the Moneyball theory of games (does the game "get on base" (to the table)?) so, that matters!
Cascadero - 4 plays at 2 players - First, the production is perfect. Svelte box that's easy to pack, wooden pieces, great graphic design with built in rules reminders by Ian O'Toole, and a striking cover make this a joy to play. If you enjoy the general
waves hands of Irish Gauge, you're going to love how this looks.
Cascadero requires a little patience, but I think I'm starting to see a heart of gold down in there. As a Knizia tile-layer, right away, this game is, unfortunately, going to get compared to some of the greatest games ever made. Games like Through the Desert, Samurai, Babylonia, etc. I say unfortunately, because I don't think you'll love this game on the first play. That's because I think the default/starter side of the board is less interesting. If you're familiar with games, do yourself a favor and flip to the farmer side as soon as possible. Even then, Cascadero is subtle. When played best, it's a quiet maneuvering of cubes up to just the right spots on tracks with pieces on the board in all the right places that build a little lattice of opportunity. Not just one combo ready to score, but a set of circumstances that hedge on an opponent's move. Paths are everywhere, and you're using them in just the right ways to get across a double score gap or to slip into a fold in the track that gives an extra bonus. I feel like the review circuit doesn't usually play games enough times to appreciate this one, and maybe it's subtle to a fault. It isn't great when you hear "it gets good on game 4", but I'm four games in and usually that's the point where I'm bored of most games. With this one I'm excited to play more.
Cascadero is great! Cascadito - 5 plays at 2 players - Do you like My City? Do you like My City: Roll and Build? I do. I probably wouldn't list them in my favorite games, but they are such great weeknight-with-the-partner games that I appreciate them all the same. Cascadito isn't billed as a campaign game, but rather as four maps. Maybe a 4 game campaign doesn't sound long enough, but I'm busy. 4 games sounds like something I can do. If you've played Cascadero, map 1 is the less interesting version of that game. Stick with it though! Like My City, you get the joy of seeing Knizia riff on an idea. We enjoyed each subsequent map more and more and we could see ourselves replaying #3 and especially #4. In fact, on map 4 we kept looking at each other's sheets during the game - on a roll and write! I like that.
Cascadito is good!
Spectral - 6 plays at 2 players - I'm pretty picky about deduction games, especially as board games. As someone who has put hundreds of hours into Picross and sudoku I need there to be a good reason why I'm using my precious time with my friends on something that is usually so solitary. So far, I've really only liked The Search for Planet X. While it isn't known as a particularly interactive game, my friends and I have played it so competitively that we look for any scrap of information that might give us the edge, and the publishing system cranks up the incentive to take some leaps of faith in a tight race.
When I heard about Spectral I was excited - an interactive, bidding based logic puzzle - cool! Six games later, I haven't really figured out how to interact with my opponent. While The Search for Planet X has clear moments of intention to watch for (publishing papers), it's really hard to tell when your opponent is acting with intention or just exploring in Spectral. You also don't have those little clues like what your opponent is scanning for or researching like in Planet X to build some kind of theory around. The game is a breeze to play, yet barely leaves room to grapple. So maybe the interaction isn't super strong, but how's the logic puzzle?
Boring. Imagine playing sudoku, but the logic restrictions were only for rows and not also columns, or within squares. You can do some deduction with the curse cards, but the treasure cards (12 of the 16) are all essentially equally informative and don't allow for much in the way of chains of deduction. You can do a little bit with probabilities of where treasures are likely to overlap, but it rarely feels worth it to pursue when finding curses provides a much more reliable benefit.
I want to be wrong about this game. Please, someone argue this one with me.
Spectral is okay. If you play it once or twice, I think you'll have a good time, but I don't see it having legs.
Slay the Spire - I've had this game for less than a month and I think I've put in maybe 50 hours at the table with it at this point. I've played with people who have 1000s of hours in Slay the Spire - they have loved it. I've played with people who have never played Slay the Spire - I see them playing Slay the Spire on Steam the next day and asking when they can next come over. People who usually duck out of a game night at 10pm are still at the table at 1am.
I was really worried it would be bad. I wondered, why not just play the digital game? But here I am, holding the box and knowing without a doubt, this object sparks joy. Have you ever experienced a solitary piece of media, obsessed over it, and then gotten a chance to experience it together with other fans? Maybe something like watching Game of Thrones with friends after reading the books. It feels great to share in something you've loved. That's how Slay the Spire has felt. But it's not just that, as evidenced by the friends that have never played the digital game and still loved it. It's just a damn good deck builder, and the whole system of knowing exactly what the enemies are going to do before they do it goes over so well here. It's so apparent that this translation was a labor of love and so much has gone into preserving the spirit of the game. I love it.
Slay the Spire is excellent!
Leviathan Wilds - played the first 3 Leviathans solo and at 2 - I backed this as a Shadow of the Colossus fan, and hoped for the best. I'm honestly blown away by how much this game has exceeded my expectations. First, there's something about this game that feels so complete and efficient. There's no Kickstarter bloat. It's in a very understated, retail sized box. The game just gets so much out of each component. It feels like the people who made it have made a lot of games before (and they have!).
I have trouble finding mid-weight 1-hour co-ops that I like. I love co-ops like The Crew at the short and sweet end and Spirit Island at the epic and heavy end, but the games that hit around the Pandemic range have never appealed to me. There often seems to be too much upkeep and setup, and not enough to keep me interested in sharing a puzzle with other people.
Leviathan Wilds is sooooo easy to set up. Setting up a Leviathan involves opening a spiral bound map book and laying out five cards. Processing the enemy turn involves flipping a card and later doing what it says. I don't play solo games, pretty much ever, but I'm playing this solo because it's so damn easy to run.
The moment to moment gameplay has been a blast. The systems are very open and freeform and the cards are multi-use, so there's often this feeling of scrapping together just the thing you need from odd parts - burning this card, eating this mushroom, falling here, etc. The movement system really leans into the mechanics of Shadow of the Colossus and allows for a creativity and freedom while reinforcing the theme. Every game we've played has been tight and we've failed a few times. I like that. My only complaint was that the enemies will sometimes do "swift" moves that resolve before your turn so you don't have much of a chance to react. I didn't realize until a game or two later that you can still use skills on cards to react instantly which might be an easy rule to miss. I've felt much better about "swift" since learning that. I'll definitely be backing the announced small expansion for the upcoming reprint. What a pleasant surprise.
Leviathan Wilds is excellent!
Harmonies - 6 plays at 2 players - This game has been called a Reef killer, an Azul killer, and a Cascadia killer. I own all those games! So, what's the body count at my table? Well, first off this game is lovely. The art is beautiful, the spatial puzzle is quite satisfying, and the playtime is breezy (especially at 2). It is most comparable to Reef in that you are arranging and stacking pieces in configurations for points, but there's a second layer of tile arrangement, similar to Cascadia's habitats, that's always present, no matter what cards come up. The Azul comparison is probably due to the drafting of tiles from a central market. So, what's the outcome?:
- Reef - Dead. Harmonies gives me a similar spatial puzzle in less time, in a smaller box, with better art, and it feels more thematic (I want to make homes for all my animals!).
- Cascadia - Dead. (although I was tired of it already). I find the game to game strategies in Harmonies to be more diverse and I don't feel like I have an algorithm to follow like in Cascadia (Is there a tile that increases two habitats? Can I fit a fox between my other groups of animals?).
- Azul - Alive. It's a stretch to compare the two games, but the drafting portion is far more interesting in Azul with the combining pools of tiles. Azul sits with Carcassonne in this perfect zone of being a gateway game that starts out gentle and puzzley and more you play it the more cutthroat it becomes. This isn't Harmonies, but...
Harmonies is excellent. I wouldn't be surprised if its the best gateway type game of the year. I do think it could slow down significantly with more players, but I tend to play something more interactive beyond 2.
Dro Polter - Too many plays to count and at all player counts - I think this is Oink's cutest production yet. The chunky wooden ghost, the tiny bells, the little set of treasures you'll hold in your hand. If you like frantic dexterity games, this is great. You can explain the rules in about 2 sentences and it's very non-gamer friendly. The cleverest bit is how you have to hold onto points in the form of tiny bells and if you drop them you lose them. It's an excellent system of handicapping the leader that often turns to laughs. It's mostly a novelty, but if you can introduce it to a few different groups of people, it feels worth it. Great with kids too.
Dro Polter is great!

2024.05.21 09:24 Professional_Fig_595 Top Strategies for Maximizing GST Payment Deductions
| https://preview.redd.it/7t0gww6geq1d1.jpg?width=706&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef40803f25d3738f7b34825f3487a94fa71cfb95 Goods and Services Tax (GST) payment is a crucial process for businesses operating under the GST regime. Understanding how to efficiently manage GST payments can help businesses stay compliant and avoid penalties. Here’s an informative guide to help you navigate the essentials of GST payment: Key Pointers: - Definition and Purpose: GST payment refers to the process of remitting tax collected on the supply of goods and services to the government. It ensures the seamless functioning of the taxation system by maintaining the flow of tax credits and preventing tax evasion.
- Payment Due Dates: GST payments are typically due on the 20th of the following month for monthly filers. Quarterly filers have different schedules. It’s essential to adhere to these deadlines to avoid late fees and interest charges.
- Payment Methods: Businesses can make GST payments through various methods, including online banking, credit/debit cards, and over-the-counter payments at authorized banks. Utilizing the GST portal simplifies the payment process.
- Challan Generation: Before making a payment, taxpayers must generate a challan (payment form) on the GST portal. The challan contains details like the tax amount, interest, and late fees (if applicable).
- Filing Returns: GST payment is closely tied to the filing of GST returns (GSTR-3B). Ensure that the correct amount is paid and reflected in the return to maintain compliance.
- ITC Adjustment: Input Tax Credit (ITC) can be used to offset the GST liability. Properly managing ITC can reduce the cash outflow for GST payments.

2024.05.21 08:00 fifteenrupeebusfare Sticky Situation about finally getting my long awaited degree certificate
I was a student at SJC in 2020, and have been waiting years to no avail to receive my actual final degree certificate. Finally received a document shared on the alumni group saying I need to apply for convocation and all those details. Got it. BUT it's saying I need the following:
"(Postgraduate students who did their undergraduate programme in this college and had already paid the alumni fee need not have to submit the alumni application form and pay the fee for alumni registration again. However, they must submit a photocopy of the undergraduate PDC or consolidated marks card as proof of study in this college) Candidates must download two challan forms. One for Convocation and the other for the Alumni registration. They must pay the required fee in the South Indian Bank, St.Joseph’s University campus branch. Documents to be submitted: (i)Filled in application form for the convocation (ii)Fee paid Challan for Convocation (iii)Filled in application for alumni association (iv)Fee paid Challan for alumni association (v)Two passport size photographs (vi)Self attested semester wise marks card copies (Download from the Linways portal and take printouts. The marks card should have the title “ STATEMENT OF MARKS”. The marks cards with the title “ PROVISIONAL MARKS CARD” will not be accepted (vii) Self-attested consolidated marks card/".
Stupidly, in first year at KJC where I'm doing my masters in english lit and they were verifying documents, I FORGOT TO TAKE A PICTURE OR COPY of my PDC NOR consolidated marks card and it went straight to some filing cabinet in bangalore north university and so help me GOD.
All I have with me are the application forms and challans and stuff that I need to print out and fill in with the fees or whatever, and luckily A "Statement of Marks" with all the marks of all the semesters that I spent in Hell *cough*- I mean SJC.
Will that, the fee payments, fee payment forms, the challans and godknowswhatelse and the application forms be enough to get me the fruit of three months of toil?
Last date to apply without an extra fine (Academics=Capitalism) is the 23rd of May..

2024.05.21 05:38 artofaxelsior Sharuum Engine
Hi folks, I've recently gotten back into Magic after several years away and decided to revisit my first commander deck with a primer. If you'd like to jump straight to the list and explanation of card choices, the link is here:
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sharuum-artifactdec/?cb=1716262066 Everything down below is also in that link.
If you're curious to see what this is all about, here's the first section. Hopefully if gauges your interest enough to view the deck list and card choice explanation.
This is a re-make of an old Sharuum deck I ran in the mid 2010s, which turned into a Breya deck, moving away from artifact and into dedicated combo for an early win. Having since parted that deck out and sold the money cards, I've decided to go back to the Sharuum build. It draws inspiration from previous historical versions of Sharuum, which I will explain below, and new additions from recent sets.
Engine/Control Sharuum Build
The Sharuum deck traditionally combos off a clone effect (Phyrexian Metamorph/Sculpting Steel), looping a copy of Sharuum indefinitely, and a triggered ability with some pay-off (Disciple of the Vault, Extractor Demon, Altar of the Brood). This is the main path to victory with the deck.
It is usually supported by the Thopter Foundry/Sword of the Meek/Time Sieve combo, and either a suite of control spells and board wipes, or a resilient engine build leveraging artifact recursion engines and interactions. These 2 styles of decks (control and engine) were the main ways to build Sharuum in the earliest days.
The development of early Sharuum builds is well documented (
https://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/217067-sharuum-everyones-favorite-kitty) , begun by Jack_from_NYC, spearheaded by Jostin123 and various members of the community.
Four Horsemen Build
The next iteration of Sharuum combo came in the form of the 4 Horsemen build, named Mesmeruum, credited to Tetravirulence. Their deck list is linked here:
https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/mesmeruum/. The initial part of the combo originates from a controversial Legacy deck which used Mesmeric Orb and Basalt Monolith to mill a player's own deck, and combo out with Emrakul, Nacromoebia, Blasting Station and Dread Return - an incredible long and time consuming combo that must be played out to completion as it is not a guaranteed win-con. Fortunately, this Sharuum build relied on a more efficient way to combo out.
After milling your own deck with Basalt Monolith and Mesmeric Orb, Sharuum would be cast, targeting Torrential Gearhulk in the graveyard, in turn targeting Ghostly Flicker or Displace. Both Sharuum and Gearhulk would be flickered, with 2 potential variations.
The first variation involves Sharuum targeting Phyrexian Metamorph/Sculpting Steel, and Gearhulk targeting Orzhov Charm, in turn targeting Disciple of the Vault. Sharuum would then loop, triggering Disciple indefinitely.
The second variation involved Sharuum targeting Altar of the Brood, Gearhulk targeting a second flicker effect (Ghostly Flicker, Displace or Cloudshift), flickering Sharuum again, and targeting a clone. This would result in Sharuum looping indefinitely and milling all opponents with Altar of the Brood. Of course, there are other variations, one of which involves Second Sunrise and Faith's Reward, but those are the standard and most easily understood.
My Version
With the recent release of Universes Beyond: Warhammer 4000, 2 key cards - Technomancer and Psychomancer - have found a place in the Sharuum combo. It allows for a more compact combo using the same premise as Mesmuruum, however, requires a lot less cards to combo off. The combo starts the same as Mesmuruum, self milling with Basalt Monolith and Mesmeric Orb. Then, casting Sharuum, and targeting Technomancer, which in turn targets both Phyrexian Metamorph and Psychomancer. Sharuum loops, and Psychomancer triggers indefinitely, draining opponents one at a time and netting us life. Again, same idea as Mesmuruum, less convoluted and more accessible.
This is an engine build of Sharuum. There are no counterspells, and a minimal amount of board wipes. It focuses on resiliency, recursion, and interactions between cards to magnify various effects. Although we aim to combo out with Sharuum, there are a number of ways to trigger out win cons outside of Sharuum herself, and potential to win through combat damage.
Most cards in this deck fall into these categories. Some cards will cross over categories.
Engines: a card that fulfills multiple roles or converts one resource into another.
Cogs: slots into Engines while providing beneficial effects. Usually can be recurred easily.
Threats: must-answer cards with high impact effects.
Acceleration: whether they be mana rocks, tutors or card draw effects, these cards let us do what we want, earlier, and speed up our game plan.
Recursion: anything that lets us replay or recur our cards.
Even our individual combo pieces have applications outside of their respective combos, and often are interchangeable with other combo pieces.
And the link again:

2024.05.21 05:22 mister_doctor_99 SBI CashBack Credit Card application
I’m not able to post this in creditcardsindia group, so posting here. If someone can forward this post to that group, it will be really helpful !!
I filled out the application for SBI CashBack credit card. At the end, it asked for additional information. I’m tried filling that additional information form multiple times, but I’m getting the same error as
“Sorry! You cannot avail this service at the moment. Please try again later or call the SBI Card helpline at 39 02 02 02 (prefix the STD code of your city).”
Tried both in mobile and desktop. Is this a problem at their end or am I doing something wrong?
I tried calling the number shown in that error message, but I’m not getting a proper response. The Customer Care folks are just re-routing me back to IVR.
Has anyone faced this same problem? Any insight will be appreciated.

2024.05.21 01:35 ziptofaf PCs for game development - a (not so short) guide :)
Welcome to game development desktop recommendations. My last laptop guide got some positive feedback so let’s try it again with PC parts this time around. Plus I see these questions show up a lot on this subreddit so might as well help some of y'all with this decision.
For starters let’s set some general rules I tend to follow. If these do not apply to you then it’s best you look for advice elsewhere.
a) we are talking „generalist” game development, not specialized roles at a studio.
b) new parts only. You can save a fair lot by going used but my assumption is that you don’t. Else I would need to consider last 3 generations worth of hardware, look at ebay prices etc.
c) no enterprise gear, standard desktop form chassis.
d) it is a PC which is meant to be upgradable. I will focus on out of the box experience but if I see an opportunity to futureproof it a bit for 10% extra I will go for it. This includes getting a CPU platform with more life to it left, buying a motherboard with 4 RAM slots, buying a bit overkill power supply etc.
e) indie development – I assume you are not trying to make next Alan Wake 2 or a similarly demanding title.
With these limitations in place game development is what you can consider unoptimized gaming. If you can play a video game on a given machine then you can try and develop something similar.
Let’s start from the cheapest sensible build:
1. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bwMPqR - $420
Core i3 12100, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB NVMe drive, 600W PSU (realistically this PC only needs like 50W) and no dedicated video card. If your funds are limited this is a solid starting point. CPU might have only 4 cores but these are some quite performant cores. While you are not using Unreal engine on that thing – Unity and Godot should be fine, especially for 2D game development. It’s also a very solid platform to upgrade in the future – you can buy additional 16-64GB RAM later on, upgrade a CPU up to a 14900 and obtain just about any mid range video card. So while slightly limiting out of the box (but still more than enough to get started/learn) it will serve you for quite a while.
Performance rating (all other builds will be relative to this one):
CPU: 100% single thread, 100% multithread
GPU: 100%
2. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yZ4XQP - $700
We now have an i5-12400 (full 6 cores), 32GB DDR5 memory and a fully fledged video card. 12400 is probably best CPU right now in performance/$ category on the entire market and it shows – it’s not the best performer overall but it’s a surprisingly powerful contender. Now, in general RX 6500XT is not what I would call a particularly fast card. It has only 4GB of VRAM and it’s performance leaves a lot to be desired. But it is fast enough to run modern AAA titles at medium settings at 1080p which is a decent achievement for $130. You still shouldn’t run Unreal on this one but you will have a decent experience in other engines, even in simpler 3D. It also destroys an integrated chip in every metric and turns a barely functional experience into a viable one.
Performance rating:
CPU: 100% single thread, 146% multithread
GPU: 800% (yep, that’s how wide of a gap there is between an iGPU vs even a lower tier dedicated one)
I am going to be honest here – this is a very sensible build and unironically a good stopping point for most.
In fact between $700-950 the only change I would recommend is video card. If you have $100 more – get an RX6600. If you have $200 more – there’s a GeForce RTX 4060. With these changes you will see following results:
GPU (RX 6600): 1310%
GPU (RTX 4060): 1680%
At this point we are getting a video card with 8GB VRAM and sufficient performance to run latest games at 1080p in high settings. In 9/10 cases you… seriously don’t need more than that for indie development.
But let’s keep going :)
3. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mcfsN6 - $1480
Our next step is significantly more expensive than before but it also offers a faster and more recent CPU (do note – if you are reading this after June check out if Ryzen 9000 series is out already), more storage, 50% more RAM, beefier power supply, full sized ATX case and an RTX 4070 Super. We finally have an Unreal engine capable PC with all the raytracing goodies.
CPU: 118% single thread, 235% multithread
GPU: 3350%
If you want some upgrades – Ryzen 9 7900 is a decent option. So is adding a second drive for a Raid 1 configuration (that way you get twice the reading speed + the death of one drive does not break your computer, you just need to replace it).
4. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/whymcH - $2377
Final step in what we can do with consumer grade parts without going too crazy. We get a 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X, largest air cooler available, 96GB RAM, two top of the line SSDs and a 4070Ti Super on top.
CPU: 120% single thread, 446% multithread
GPU: 3900%
You can spend more if you want to – you can upgrade power supply to an 850W unit and put an RTX 4090 inside for additional $800. This will indeed speed up Blender renders and provide you with the best consumer grade GPU money can buy right now. Is it worth it? It might be if you are working with more demanding 3D scenes.
Final remarks:
- Whenever possible I am sticking to dual RAM stick configuration at decent but not top of the line speeds and timings. This is critical for stability, especially for DDR5 – using 4 RAM sticks means that in particular for AMD platforms you will have problems at more than 5200 MHz. This might improve with the upcoming Ryzen 9000 series but this remains to be seen.
- Stock cooler when applicable, no K/X class series SKUs for the processor. If you want you absolutely can buy a 30$ cooler like Thermalright Peerless Assassin for all cheaper builds, it will certainly emit less noise. In general however we avoid overclockable/overclocked CPUs – 65W R7 7700 gets 95% of the 7700X performance at 40W less power draw for instance. I would also recommend not going with 13900k/14900k (although 13900/14900 without K are fine) – these are really power hungry, hot and lately there are talks of stability issues with many motherboards for prolonged heavier workloads. Intel has a lot of low to mid end options worth considering however - 12100, 12400, 13400, 12600, 13600, 14600 are all great CPUs.
- no liquid cooler as it’s an additional point of failure. In an air cooler the only part that can fail is a fan which is a $15 replacement and a decent one tends to last 5-10 years.
- try to avoid F series CPUs (7500F, 12400F, 13400F etc) – F in this case means no iGPU. This is generally a bit cheaper (20-30$) but… you want an iGPU. For two reasons – first, it provides a backup solution in case anything happens to the main video card. Second – odds are that whatever game you are making should work fine on a lower-end system. Turning your title on an integrated GPU is an excellent way of testing it.
- Remember that unlike a laptop a PC can be upgraded over time. It’s fine to pick less storage or memory or get a slower CPU. When in doubt – spend a bit less and upgrade in a year. Don’t try to go for top of the line without a good reason to since 2 years from now that top of the line becomes a mid range build in both performance and price.
Finally – how does it
actually affect your daily flow? What can you do on the higher end system that you can't do on a lower end one?
Some numbers of my own, to help you gauge the distance between some of these parts, based on my own game:
i3-12100, no GPU, PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSD, 16GB RAM – 45-60 fps at FullHD in editor mode (and about the same in the optimized build, GPU is a hard limit here), 250s build time. It’s not overly stable and can crash during build process from time to time – but other than that it provides an… okay experience. 33 seconds to start Unity, roughly 2 seconds to enter playmode.
i3-12100 + RX 6400 – 240 fps in the editor and finished build. No changes in actual build time but it does increase stability and moves from „can barely play the game” to „100% smooth, can test 1440p fine too”.
Ryzen 7 5800X + RX 6800XT, 32GB RAM (8 cores, overall it’s around the same single threaded performance as 12400f and a bit better one in multithreading due to 2 more cores, comparable GPU experience to an RTX 4070/7800XT) – like a 1000 fps in an editor, down to 350-450 at 4k. Meaning that it’s significantly more than enough for my title even at highest settings. This is a minimum configuration for some of our largest Photoshop files as they tend to eat 10GB RAM when loaded (think 3000x3000 spritesheet with like 50 layers).
Ryzen 9 7900 + RTX 3080 (12 cores, sits in between 7700 and 7950X) – 140s build time. Same fps as 6800XT. 15 seconds to start Unity, sub 1 second to enter playmode.
And for completionist sake:
Macbook Pro 16 (2019, i7-9750H, 5300M) – 393s build time, around 200 fps at native res – older but still capable laptop, you can see however that it’s showing it’s age as build time is waaay longer than everything else on this list.
Macbook Pro 14 (2023, M3 Pro) – 160s build time, around 220 fps at native res.

2024.05.21 01:33 nomorelandfills PETA's guide to how to deal with shelters that refuse to take owner surrenders or stray surrenders from the public
| Not a PETA fan overall, but this may be useful to someone. Or 17 million someones. Because the shelter systems of the 6 largest cities in the US are currently following managed intake policies designed to thwart and avoid pet surrenders. And over 17 million people live in those 6 metro areas. Shelter Refusing Animals? Here's What to Do PETA https://preview.redd.it/rzurekuwxn1d1.png?width=1053&format=png&auto=webp&s=51d18f2bd808328f6eb5d153342ce01554262379 Is your local shelter refusing animals? Shelters are supposed to be safe havens for animals who have nowhere else to go, but in an increasing number of communities across the country, good Samaritans who find strays and desperate citizens who cannot keep their animals are hearing the same responses when they try to take animals to shelters: “ Sorry—we’re full,” or “We’ll have to put you on a waiting list.” Some shelters require people to make appointments, wait for months, or pay high “surrender fees,” or they drastically reduce their hours or even encourage people to leave cats on the streets, often illegally—all in a misguided attempt to keep animals out. Why? Shelters are under extreme pressure by laypeople who are opposed to euthanasia under virtually any circumstances and at any cost. They harass and vilify shelter workers who make the difficult but compassionate decision to euthanize some animals in order to keep their doors open to every animal in need. In response, an alarming number of shelters—in some cases, even taxpayer-funded ones—are choosing to operate like exclusive clubs or boutiques instead of refuges for animals in need. When shelters make it difficult for people to surrender animals, closing their doors and refusing to help, they leave animals with nowhere to turn. Many are abandoned on the streets, where they starve and die in agony of untreated diseases or injuries. Others remain in the hands of people who don’t want them and who may mistreat, neglect, or even kill them. If your local shelter has adopted this harmful practice and started implementing restrictions or turning away animals, please speak up! The basic steps are simple— documenting your experiences, gathering support, and making your case—and your involvement can make a world of difference to the animals in your community who need you the most. Read on to learn how you can help, and follow the links in each section for helpful sample statements and letters. Document Your Experience If a shelter has refused to accept an animal from you, required you to pay a surrender fee, put you on a waiting list, or instructed you to abandon an animal, carefully document everything that happened. Take photos and video, if you can, to help make your case when you share the evidence with elected officials and the media. Be sure to document the following: - The name and address of the facility
- The time and date of your call or visit
- The name of the person you spoke with
- What you were told (an exact quote, if possible)
- Whether you spoke with a supervisor and, if so, what you were told
- What happened to the animal who needed help
Gather Community Support Collecting statements and support from others who have been negatively affected by a shelter’s policies will significantly bolster your case when you meet with officials. If you know of other people who have encountered difficulties in surrendering an animal to a shelter, interview and take written statements from them, then help them take their cases to local and state elected officials as well as to the media. Meet with local veterinarians to explain the situation at the shelter. Veterinarians may be especially sympathetic—not only because they care about animals but also because in communities where shelters restrict intakes, veterinary offices and animal hospitals often become popular places for people to abandon animals. If you find veterinarians who seem understanding, ask them for a statement and encourage them to get involved by helping you lobby for open-admission policies at the shelter. Be sure to keep your meetings brief and respectful, as most veterinarians are extremely busy, and follow up with a handwritten thank-you note. Take the time to form lasting relationships with sympathetic veterinarians, as they may be able to help if you find an animal who is turned away from the shelter. If you know of local businesses where stray and homeless animals congregate, ask the owners if they would be willing to sign a statement and get involved. Their concerns may have significant influence with elected officials. Make Your Case Once you have gathered statements and evidence, request a meeting with the shelter director by writing a polite letter. Express your support of open-admission policies, including providing euthanasia services when necessary. If the director is open to revising the shelter’s policies, wonderful! Your legwork has paid off. If not, don’t worry—you have brought this important issue to his or her attention, and you can now take your case to elected officials and the media. If the director is unresponsive to your concerns, don’t be discouraged. If the shelter is taxpayer-funded, elected officials may view the situation more objectively and be more receptive (and able to initiate change). Your next step is to request a meeting with elected officials to express your concern that the shelter is not providing needed services. If the shelter is taxpayer-funded, it’s also important to attend city and/or county meetings on a regular basis to express your concerns about the shelter. Most meetings allow the public to speak briefly (usually for three to five minutes) on issues of concern, so prepare and practice a short statement that you can read if given the opportunity. Be sure to include your most compelling points, including examples of your own or others’ experiences with being turned away. Keep Speaking Up! Changing entrenched policies can take time, so be persistent and patient. There are many simple actions that you can take to keep the issue in the forefront of citizens’ and elected officials’ minds: - Write letters to the editor and comment on online news articles that demonize open-admission shelters or glorify turn-away facilities.
- Become an animal rights photographer. Go into the community and document the suffering of homeless and neglected animals (dogs hit by cars, covered with mange, or languishing on chains, cats living under sheds trying to raise a litter of kittens, etc.). Share these photos with the shelter director, elected officials, and/or the media to help demonstrate the critical need for a shelter that accepts all animals. Please also try to help any stray animals or chained dogs you see.
- Print out PETA’s flier about the dangers of turn-away facilities and hand it out to people in front of grocery stores, or leave a stack at your dentist’s office, the gym, coffee shops, etc.fundamental need for shelters to keep their doors open to all animals (we can provide free materials).
- Ask your state lawmakers to introduce legislation that would require “rescues” to be strictly regulated and facilities operating as taxpayer-funded shelters to accept all animals surrendered to them, as well as defining facilities that turn away animals as “adoption groups” rather than as “shelters.”
- If your case is especially egregious (an animal died or was significantly injured as a result of being turned away), consider filing a lawsuit against the city/county/shelter on the grounds of dereliction of duty and/or cruelty to animals. You may be able to find an attorney willing to help in your case on a pro bono (free of charge) basis simply by calling local attorneys listed online.
- Tell your friends, neighbors, and family members about the situation at your local shelter and encourage them to get involved, too!
- Host information tables at community events. Play PETA’s videos about problems associated with turn-away policies, such as “The Betrayal of ‘No-Kill’ Sheltering,” “Turned Away: A Closer Look at ‘No-Kill,’” “How Long Do Outdoor Cats Live?” and “100 Pit Bulls in 100 Seconds,” and share PETA’s materials on these topics (we can provide them for free!).
- Ask your local library to let you set up an information display about the fundamental need for shelters to keep their doors open to all animals (we can provide free materials).

Gold technical analysis: The left chart shows an equally-weighted gold basket of spot gold against FX majors. It aims to show the underlying of strength of gold in general, and dilute the inverse relationship between gold and the US dollar – which is the most widely followed gold market. On the right we can see the gold futures (gold/USD) reached a record high on Monday alongside higher trading volume, although it failed to hold onto gains above $2450 or the prior record high and retraced lower. It is also interesting to note that the gold basket has stalled around $2800, just beneath its own record high set in April. A bearish divergence has also formed on the gold basket and gold futures contract, both of which are in the overbought zone. It may be difficult to construct an immediate bearish case other than gold stalling around key resistance levels. But that can be good enough for gold bulls to take note and err on the side of caution. We’ve already seen once false break of the April high for gold futures, so perhaps bulls may want to at least see the gold basket break to a new record high before assuming gold futures will hold on to gains. Of course, what could help with the latter case is to see the US dollar index break and hold below 104. Otherwise, another approach is for bulls to wait for a retracement before seeking evidence of a higher low for bullish swing trade at a more favourable price, in anticipation of a break to a new record high. https://preview.redd.it/q06fokifzn1d1.png?width=1565&format=png&auto=webp&s=c1efefca246d2d47e0e70c7979c05259e3a62dec US dollar index (DXY) technical analysis: In yesterday’s COT report I noted that large speculators were net-long USD index futures for a second week, and that asset managers remained predominantly net-long despite a slight reduction of bullish exposure during the dollar's retracement lower. This also comes at a time when the US dollar index is trying to hold above the key bullish trendline from the December low. USD prices were allowed to drift higher during quiet trade on Monday. And as the 4-hour chart shows, volumes were relatively thin during the fall from 105 down to 104. Therefore, the current drift higher may simply be the market trying to head for the high-volume node around 105.20. However, 105 may make a more sensible interim bullish target due to its round-number statues, which is also near a 100% projection ratio and the 100-bar EMA. https://preview.redd.it/fihls95kzn1d1.png?width=1603&format=png&auto=webp&s=676ccc77b29eba92ae97d595ea66ee2f53cd864e -- Written by Matt Simpson Follow Matt on Twitter @cLeverEdge https://www.forex.com/en-us/news-and-analysis/gold-hesitates-at-its-ath-usd-drifting-higher-towards-105-asian-open-2024-05-21/ The information on this web site is not targeted at the general public of any particular country.
