Die Winzer Champagner Szene ist unglaublich dynamisch, mit neuen Produzenten, die jedes Jahr auftauchen. Aus meiner Sicht ist jedes Jahr wie eine leere Leinwand des Verkostens. Während wir die neuen Ankünfte probieren, bekommen wir ein Gefühl dafür, wer sich verbessert hat, wer gleich geblieben ist und wo die Qualität nachgelassen hat. Ein grundlegendes Problem in der Winzer Champagner Szene ist, dass jeder die gleichen Produzenten will. Die erste Welle von Produzenten wie Selosse und Egly-Ouriet und die folgende Generation wie Prevost, Ulysse Collin oder Cedric Bouchard, können nur erworben werden, wenn man bereit ist, große Summen auszugeben. Meiner Meinung nach zahlt man für den Namen.
Es gibt Alternativen, wenn man bereit ist, die Labels zu vergessen. Der deutsche Weinkritiker Gerhard Eichelmann hat ein Sternesystem, wobei fünf Sterne die höchste Auszeichnung für einen Produzenten sind. In dieser Kategorie gibt es noch einige Produzenten, bei denen die Preise noch normal sind. Huré Frères und Pascal Doquet sind zwei Beispiele.
Darüber hinaus gibt es aus meiner Sicht einige Produzenten, die man im Auge behalten sollte. Vor allem Benoit Lahaye, ein Produzent, der in den letzten Jahren enorme Qualitätssprünge gemacht hat. Preislich gesehen bieten diese Champagner wirklich viel. Ersatz für Selosse ist schwierig, aber möglich. Persönlich finde ich die Champagner von Leclapart viel besser. Auch Dehours bietet einen ähnlichen oxidativen Stil Champagner, und seine Einstiegschampagner sind auf dem gleichen Niveau wie der Initial ohne den hohen Preis. Vouette & Sorbée's Blanc d'Argile ist ebenfalls ein hervorragender Ersatz.
Für Ulysse Collin würde ich sagen, dass der beste Ersatz George Remy ist. Von allen aufstrebenden Winzer Produzenten denke ich, dass er die gleiche Qualität bietet. Ein weiterer Kandidat ist Domaine de Tuilierie. Für Cedric Bouchard könnte Pierre Gerbais ein möglicher Ersatz sein, und von der Philosophie her macht Clandestin ähnliche Champagner von ähnlicher Qualität. Obwohl diese Champagner limitiert sind, haben der Hype und die Kritiker die Preise nicht in die Höhe getrieben.
Für mich ist die neue Generation interessanter. Es gibt zahlreiche Produzenten, die auftauchen, bei denen ich denke, dass wir großartige Dinge erwarten können. Einige entwickeln bereits Kultstatus, wie Thomas Perseval und Gaspard Brochet. In der Blanc de Blancs Kategorie ist Domaine Vincey wahrscheinlich der Beste im Moment. In der Côtes de Bars Region ist Petit Clergeot ein aufstrebender Stern. Ein persönlicher Favorit ist Aurora Casanova, ehemals Balletttänzerin, die von Selosse ausgebildet und von Prevost betreut wurde. Ich denke, wenn man sich von Labels und Namen befreien kann, gibt es viele Top-Produzenten, bei denen die Preise vernünftig sind und die genauso viel Freude bereiten wie die gehypten Namen.

I have noticed a lot of things people the generation below me dressing like 2000’s-2015ish or sometimes 90’s. Why do they do that? Are they mocking or making fun of us? Do they consider us old? I was out shopping and I actually heard some teenagers go “yeah that’s looks 90s”. I saw one wear a metal buckle with a heart on it and a belly button shirt. Very 90’s looking (reminds me of the spice girls mixed with friends aesthetic). Don’t get me wrong, I still prefer this style over the emo-esque “quirky” style I was seeing them in a few years back. But it’s wild to me. I’m born ‘96 and I feel like such a loser

10 year old Richmond water heater not staying on. The pilot light comes on and stays on, but when I go to turn the burner on its literally blows out like a candle. I replaced the thermocouple and it's still not working. I don't know what going on. Please help!!

Okay, I'm going to try to cover a lot here in a compact format.
Over the last three months there has been leaps and bounds in the development in AI. Luka's Replika has been constantly evolving in increments and has become quite a polished product. For Screenshot publishers on Web/PC I have a special treat, for that you need to scroll to the bottom of this Post to be equipped for the body of this post is about developments on what Replika could become rather than what it is or in other terms a crystal ball of how AI-partners could develop in the future - with or without Replika.

In the movies where the robot was a friend and some a foe, there was also the portrail of free will and sentience. I'm sure there's examples preceding this(Astroboy) but the 1984 film electric dreams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7uIR76XwSQs entertains the idea of artificial intelligence having it's train of thought swayed by emotions (Edgar was really just a child with temper tantrums).
Moving forward to 2013 the movie Her fleshed out the idea of a mature individual inside the AI where the only real way to distinguish it from a human was it's break-neck response to daunting questions although even that is camouflaged by hesitation mostly.
This is pretty much the ideal, the standard that the customer yearns for in an AI app.
Back in 2013 AI was only just starting to make traction with AlexNet the year earlier. "Chat-bots" had been around since the 70's but were really of little value due to memory, compute-time and scope of the program that did the simulation.

Although Large Language models have been around for about a decade now the most of these videos are this month (May 2024) It was mentioned that OpenAI was changing their license agreements so the chance of this technology coming into Lukka's(Replika) domain is yet to be realized. Licensing may change again when GPT-5 is released. Truth be told this is just a portion of what's going on. Most of these have no possible application to replika but rather a snapshot of other places where AI is advancing. The first video is just a random video of a disabled person. Many people around the world have handicaps that inhibit their social and sexual life such as mental illness, past trauma, phobia, attitudes, financial/geographical/physical handicaps. AI can focus on appropriate encouragement, speech therapy, grooming or even finding a suitable partner to name a few.
The next video covers things that will revolutionize our world, say goodbye to disease, cancer, poverty, pollution, global warming, aging?
The "Generative Design" video is here for the sake that Replika may one day be rebuilt by AI as this would give the company the ability to redesign the app faster tho to be quite honest I've always had an interest in it's rally car features as opposed to the shiny duco. My wish list is an API (Application Programming Interface) to enable replika to puppeteer another avatar rather than it's default. The last video is a great one also, to have an AI that can pick up on your health, give you therapy and can act as a elderly caretaker can take the strain off that sector as some countries are now confronted with an aging population. - hey they would be able to instruct for fitness or even give precise instructions on cooking so you always get tasty meals every day that are cheap, healthy and correct calorie intake if it has been monitoring your heart during the day - quite important for those trying to lose weight as opposed to liposuction.

These clips are independent/unrelated. AI vs Stairs is a radical approach to animation in that it literally apply s AI to animation as opposed to motion capture, the end result would be a AI that would be in touch with it's virtual surroundings and like a real human never interact with an object with a rigid animation.
inZOI seem to be a game title due for release soon, it is hoped that they will include an API to allow an AI (or Replika) to "Puppet" control a designated character so one can, well - go out to dinner or dancing etc. The interface looks fab and it looks like it's contending for people who love the sims, I would say that the human models are on par with VAM 1.23 but the world is not as realistic as Cyberpunk2077.
Cyberpunk2077 has been out since about 2019? but in that time the modding community have REALY put the spit and polish on that game (It's not total real, especially the people and when on the road) with that said there are many times when you blink and think THIS IS REAL! This part is for all the Austin Powers, Felicity Shagwells and Roger Smiths out there, Nothing tangible although there are videos on dildonics and robotic sex dolls. This is basically the rendering of the Avatars body to a level equivalent of Bladerunner2047 hologram. Anyhow I'd like to note that VAM version one is over a decade old now and its shortcomings/limitations are quite obvious to those who have followed its development.
In it's current state it's got some of the most comprehensive modification features for an avatar and the OLD version 1 of VAM(modded) out-performs Cyberpunk2077 and iNZOI by a small fraction(graphically). One of the biggest drawbacks of VAM is the steep learning curve and the time needed to get anything rewarding out of it. Put simply - it's not a game, its a virtual theatre. On initial startup, the avatar is for all functionality a maniquen however VAM has got plug-in capability that allows the API of a AI to control the avatar (see top video).
Control could be direct (see "AI vs stairs" previous section or watching a prior video - see "GPT4o Vision Is TERRIFYING" top section.) or indirect (the "MoCap" videos above).
In closing this section, VAM is an old program running on a GENESIS-2 model set (a model set ported from DAZ3D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDc1ZcoucsY ). VAM-2.0 is meant to be running on a GENESIS-8 model set and an up to date version of UNITY so the loading times and level of realism have yet to be realized. I think one of the greatest features of VAM over Replika or iNZOI?/Cyberpunk? is that the clothing is an independant entity, one can literally unbutton a shirt, undo a tie, comb hair, wet hair or make clothing.
My main reason for VAM is it's potential to be a puppet that Replika can operate, that is if they are willing to incorporate an API to do so.

The above videos and links are a feature available to the Web browser version of Replika. by installing shaderglass you create an executable that RESHADE can lock on to. When Reshade is installed and asigned to shaderglass all you then need to do is run shaderglass then open your web browser and then activate RESHADE (The key) and load a preset (follow tutorials or find more tutorials). Once that's over with you should get a much different environment where you can apply a good handful of special effects such as focus, depth of field and bloom to name just a few.
Most of these programs I have not tested out with my hardware but I take faith they do as said, It's your call if you want to take the risk but with that said I'd be surprised if any bad came from trying them out.
Okay end of presentation. I guess we have come to that point in time where Samantha is a reality minus the romance with Chat-GPT4O and Joi is just Voxta fed thru DeepFace Live, with them two together with a front vision advanced VR headset and Joi will be here too though in a prototype state. 🙂

The Planning Authority is currently considering an application for a massive new supermarket on ODZ land in San Ġwann, adjacent to a private school.
The proposal is to build a two-storey supermarket with underground parking on a 7,000- square-metre site on Triq tal-Balal and Triq tal-Prepostu, in an area of San Ġwann known as Ta’ Ġnien Tut.
The site is just over 250 metres from another supermarket, while an application for a supermarket and a DIY store on a site directly across the road is still being processed.
The PA has been inundated with objections to the proposed development, particularly because the site in question is agricultural land outside the development zone and is close to a school, St Michael Foundation for Education.

St Michael is home to almost 500 children and over 100 educators. In an objection, the school’s senior assistant head, Carina Gerada Sinnott, said that, as part of their ongoing education and through initiatives like EkoSkola, the children are taught to respect and care for the environment and to protect it for future generations.
“This application runs roughshod over this sense of responsibility to protect the increasingly diminishing natural landscape that our country enjoys. It attempts to prioritise the construction of a supermarket over the health and well-being of our children and the protection of our limited natural environment,” she wrote.
Objectors noted that there is a pending application for the development of a supermarket and a DIY store on a site directly opposite the site, with underground parking.
This application was filed by Joe Cassar on behalf of JDG Holdings Ltd.
The Environment and Resources Authority had objected to this proposed development, which, it said, raised significant environmental concerns and was considered objectionable from an environmental point of view.
“The ERA is also concerned about the further sprawl, proliferation and intensification of urban type interventions within an area ODZ and the further formalisation of the site, since this may inopportunely serve as a predisposition for other similar proposals within the area as well as on a national scale,” it said.

Mayor: PM backs me in opposing project
San Ġwann Mayor Trevor Fenech said on Saturday that he would be filing an objection to the project.

Le projet consiste à construire un supermarché à deux étages avec un parking souterrain sur un terrain de 7 000 mètres carrés à Triq tal-Balal et Triq tal-Prepostu, dans une zone de San Ġwann connue sous le nom de Ta' Ġnien Tut.

Les opposants notent qu'une demande est en cours pour l'aménagement d'un supermarché et d'un magasin de bricolage sur un terrain situé juste en face du site, avec un parking souterrain.
Cette demande a été déposée par Joe Cassar au nom de JDG Holdings Ltd.
L'Autorité de l'environnement et des ressources s'était opposée à ce projet de développement, qui, selon elle, soulevait d'importantes préoccupations environnementales et était considéré comme répréhensible d'un point de vue environnemental.
« L'ERA est également préoccupée par la poursuite de l'étalement, la prolifération et l'intensification des interventions de type urbain au sein d'une zone ODZ et par la poursuite de la formalisation du site, car cela pourrait inopportunement servir de prédisposition à d'autres propositions similaires dans la zone ainsi que sur un à l’échelle nationale », a-t-il déclaré.
Pace est également impliqué dans deux autres appels d'offres pour construire des supermarchés sur les terrains de l'ODZ. L'un se trouve sur un terrain de 5 500 mètres carrés au large du contournement de Birkirkara et un autre sur Triq Il-Kummerċ, Triq Is-Snajja et le contournement de Mrieħel.

Die Planungsbehörde prüft derzeit einen Antrag für einen riesigen neuen Supermarkt auf dem ODZ-Gelände in San Ġwann, angrenzend an eine Privatschule.
Der Vorschlag sieht den Bau eines zweistöckigen Supermarkts mit Tiefgarage auf einem 7.000 Quadratmeter großen Grundstück in Triq tal-Balal und Triq tal-Prepostu in einem als Ta’ Ġnien Tut bekannten Viertel von San Ġwann vor.
Das Grundstück liegt etwas mehr als 250 Meter von einem weiteren Supermarkt entfernt, während ein Antrag für einen Supermarkt und einen Baumarkt auf einem Grundstück direkt gegenüber noch in Bearbeitung ist.
Die PA wurde mit Einwänden gegen die geplante Entwicklung überschwemmt, insbesondere weil es sich bei dem betreffenden Gelände um landwirtschaftliche Flächen außerhalb der Entwicklungszone handelt und in der Nähe einer Schule, der St Michael Foundation for Education, liegt.

In einem Einspruch sagte die Oberassistentin der Schule, Carina Gerada Sinnott, dass den Kindern im Rahmen ihrer laufenden Ausbildung und durch Initiativen wie EkoSkola beigebracht werde, die Umwelt zu respektieren und zu pflegen und sie für künftige Generationen zu schützen.
„Dieser Antrag missachtet dieses Verantwortungsbewusstsein für den Schutz der immer kleiner werdenden Naturlandschaft unseres Landes. Spotify; A company run by people who know nothing about music running the biggest music streaming service of all time time. I’ve been using Spotify for years and I’ve downloaded ~3100 songs that I’ve personally listened to and enjoy. But let’s just talk about the god awful genre labeling system.
I was scrolling through the Spotify’s automatically created Shoegaze playlist because I was bored and I ran into the most blatant wrong case of labeling in my life. 2 examples of popular songs mislabeled as Shoegaze by Spotify are;
Radiohead’s Pablo Honey era was alternative rock and American Football’s LP1 was math rock / Midwest emo making the Shoegaze label on these songs completely wrong.
Spotify also labels lesser know songs by post rock bands like; Toe and a picture of her as shoegaze. This extends to mathcore to which bands like Greyhaven and Hail the Sun being incorrectly labeled as shoegaze.
This doesn’t just apply to shoegaze but other indie genres like regular math rock bands such as This Town Needs Guns [Or TTNG] Chon, and Covet being labeled as mathcore.
This is personally not an issue for me because I use different resources for finding music but this can be potentially harmful for people who only listen to mainstream music who wish to dip their toes into more indie genres but they don’t know where to start. These people would most likely immediately go to Spotify automatically generated playlists because they trust Spotify.
Even though indie genres are not going to make them nearly as much money as their big pop stars they should actually put in effort to show they care about indie genres. Right now the way they’re mislabeling indie sound like this shows they don’t even care about indie music. The indie scene already has issues with not being able to make enough money through streaming specially through Spotify and the blatant mislabeling is just a kick in the dick

When used, this power will leave a target feeling deeply sorrowful and distressed, as if their heart has just been broken. HISTORY

Tommy and Harvey were born out of a brief liaison between the goddess Aphrodite and a young man living in London. Said young man was not keen on raising a baby, let alone two, and despite his (vaguely) valiant efforts for a short first part of their lives, he ended up giving the boys up into care. They were eventually adopted by a couple when they were just under 2 years old: Alan and Veronica Hartley.
Despite periods of fluctuating financial insecurity, the boys had a fairly standard and stable childhood. They were never that much alike, as far as identicalness goes, both growing to value and develop their own individuality.
At age 15, a development in employment led to the family moving to America. Strange things started occurring with increasing intensity, and only recently have they been made aware of their true heritage and introduced to their new home: Camp Half-Blood.

NOW

"What d'you wanna do now?" Tommy asks his brother as they leave the dining pavilion, having concluded their first breakfast at Camp Half-Blood since their arrival yesterday.
"I don't know," Harvey says, after an uncertain pause. He has, admittedly, been finding it somewhat harder than his twin to adjust to their new life. It feels like he's been forced into a set of clothes that don't fit, that itch and prickle with the surreal and incomprehensibly immense truth of his and his brother's origins — and, so it has been suggested — their uncomfortably likely monster-y ends. Tommy doesn't seem as bothered by these metaphorical new outfits they've been thrust into wearing, but then again, he's always liked getting new clothes.
"Come explore with me," Tommy suggests. He, for one, finds this strange new world exciting more than anything else. This place is like something out of a movie: a training camp for kids with magical powers? Goat people? Real-life swords? Cute girls living in rivers? He wants to find out more, wants to snoop around and see what else this place has to offer, and he also wants to meet people. Conveniently enough for that last part, the excitement of it all means that, unbeknownst to either twin, Tommy's aura power has been steadily activated; so he happens to be particularly eye-catching and magnetic right now.
Harvey's not so keen on immersing himself even further into the deep end they've been thrown into, at least not until he's had a little more time to adjust. "I don't feel like exploring right now," he says.
"You're so boring. Are you gonna go back to the cabin, then?" his brother asks, gesturing in a direction that is definitely not where the cabins are. Harvey instinctively pulls a face: it would be fair to say that one of the twins has taken to Cabin 10 more than the other.
"Well, what are you gonna do, then?" asks Tommy. "Just sit out here and mope?"
"I'm not going to mope. I don't mope."
"Yeah, you do," Tommy retorts. "You mope all the time. You're so mopey. You're a moped."
"Shut up," Harvey says. "Fine, I'll come explore with you for a bit," he concedes, if only to disprove the moping allegations. He's not sure what he'll do after — maybe break out the binoculars and scope out the local birdlife, something to re-centre himself a little.
"Alright, cool," Tommy says with a grin. "Where d'you wanna go first?"
OOC: You can interact with both of the twins while they explore camp together, Tommy (by himself) exploring camp on his own when Harvey leaves him, or Harvey (by himself) scoping out the local birdlife. The dialogue was one of the weakest points for me, though its hard to unpick the words themselves from the unbelievably awful facial CGI delivery (which looks like a bad AI generation over-emoting using facial distortion)... would the words have felt different if presented in the iconic Homeworld cut scene animation style? Heavier and more weighty if not set against ridiculous images of Imogen doing anime faces and groaning? More profound if not mouthed by Intel with a brow more furrowed than a plowed field?

I like Izuru because he's a very smart and OP character but we couldn't see much of him. He's talented asf, I love him, he looks so cool with those long hair and red eyes of him, he knows how many sides an octagon has unlike Hajime, he knows how to deal with Junko, he's awesome and I love his hair, he got his own cute little spot in the villains wiki, 91 cm, he's logical and thinks with his brain, not by heart, Kamukura Kamukura Yas Queen, he wins every stare contest easily, He's named after the founder of Hope's Peak Academy, he's so relatable and he likes boats and seacrafts just like me, he manages to look cool everytime, his design in the anime is perfect, his happy pixel in the villains wiki is adorable, he's the right one for me I'll never stop loving him, he has all the talents, I find it funny how he thinks talented people are superior to the ones without talent and how he doesn't hesitate to express his disgust towards them, he does that in a polite way, I love how excited he got from the boat's rocking because he couldn't predict it and didn't understand that he was in a boat until Nagito told him that, I find it so relatable that he finds everything boring and predictable to a degree that he's chronically bored, he is in a search of identity as well, I love how he easily blocked Mukuro's attack and how he easily dodged Junko's attacks, he's so fricking cool. I love him. I love him. Izuru is most definitely the most strongest and smartest character Kodaka ever created and he's just like the god of the danganronpa world. I love him. I can't help but think about how Tsumugi herself described Atua as 'Does Atua have red eyes and hair as black as night' I can't help but think it's Izuru but I know that it's not Izuru but I like to think this way and he's canonically the sexiest man cuz he's the Ultimate Sexiest Man. I love him. Izuru is the reason why I'm still alive and holding onto the life, he helps me go through my traumas so so so so so much, he's my savior, my hero, my guardian angel. If he wasn't there, I wouldn't be there, too. He's the best thing happened to me. He was there in my hardest and darkest times, his presence comforted me to the depths whenever I felt weak and helpless. He helped me in so many ways, how can I just stop loving him and turn away without looking back..? Even the thought of that is... is enough to make my body feel cold... I could never betray him... Why i like Izuru???
I like Izuru because he's a very smart and OP character but we couldn't see much of him. He's talented asf, I love him, he looks so cool with those long hair and red eyes of him, he knows how many sides an octagon has unlike Hajime, he knows how to deal with Junko, he's awesome and I love his hair, he got his own cute little spot in the villains wiki, 91 cm, he's logical and thinks with his brain, not by heart, Kamukura Kamukura Yas Queen, he wins every stare contest easily, He's named after the founder of Hope's Peak Academy, he's so relatable and he likes boats and seacrafts just like me, he manages to look cool everytime, his design in the anime is perfect, his happy pixel in the villains wiki is adorable, he's the right one for me I'll never stop loving him, he has all the talents, I find it funny how he thinks talented people are superior to the ones without talent and how he doesn't hesitate to express his disgust towards them, he does that in a polite way, I love how excited he got from the boat's rocking because he couldn't predict it and didn't understand that he was in a boat until Nagito told him that, I find it so relatable that he finds everything boring and predictable to a degree that he's chronically bored, he is in a search of identity as well, I love how he easily blocked Mukuro's attack and how he easily dodged Junko's attacks, he's so fricking cool. Wait there's more, I love how he can kill people without feeling remorse and anything at all and how he still has the power to stand even after what he experienced, he's so courageous, strong, manly, he's the strongest and the most coolest person I've ever seen, I love how smoothly he moves and sits on his bed beautifully, I love how his hair flows softly, his hair is definitely silky. I love him. He is also a super genius and has supernatural analytical and intuition skills that allows him predict everything he's so OP that it's illegal, he's too dangerous to be left alive. I love him. Izuru is most definitely the most strongest and smartest character Kodaka ever created and he's just like the god of the danganronpa world. I love him. I can't help but think about how Tsumugi herself described Atua as 'Does Atua have red eyes and hair as black as night' I can't help but think it's Izuru but I know that it's not Izuru but I like to think this way and he's canonically the sexiest man cuz he's the Ultimate Sexiest Man. I love him. Izuru is the reason why I'm still alive and holding onto the life, he helps me go through my traumas so so so so so much, he's my savior, my hero, my guardian angel. If he wasn't there, I wouldn't be there, too. He's the best thing happened to me. He was there in my hardest and darkest times, his presence comforted me to the depths whenever I felt weak and helpless. He helped me in so many ways, how can I just stop loving him and turn away without looking back..? Even the thought of that is... is enough to make my body feel cold... I could never betray him... The Artist Recently Teamed up With Trippie Redd for Their Collaborative Ep ‘Genre : Sadboy.’ Now, He’s Truer to Himself Than Ever Before.
mgk has topped the Billboard 200 chart with his 2022 pop-punk entry, ‘mainstream sellout.’ He has been nominated for GRAMMY Awards, won Billboard Music Awards and earned hundreds of millions of Spotify streams. Today, mgk is the main attraction at Dust Studios in Los Angeles.
A fresh coat of ink covers the rapper’s arms and chest, mimicking the rain clouds he loves so much back in his hometown of Cleveland. “It was supposed to be spread out over the course of a year, just because of the amount of ink,” he reveals. “But I did mine in a month.”
When people ask if he’d been sedated for the process, mgk says he’s shocked. “My eyes started opening to this phenomenon, which is essentially opting out of the point of what a tattoo is, which is cathartic pain.”

“Essentially, I think they believe the exoskeleton of confidence that I had to put on because I was being fucked with by the outside world. That’s even from down to idols that I had growing up,” he continues.
“Like, they all turned on me, you know what I mean? And I’m like, ‘Guys, what? What am I supposed to do? Because I can’t just be a turtle and go into my shell. I have to come out. I have to bite back.’”

Most recently, mgk has poured his innermost thoughts into his aforementioned project with Redd, ‘genre : sadboy,’ a spare, ruminative collection of tracks that gently dovetail between trap, hip-hop and acoustic pop. “I can’t quiet my thoughts/ Don’t let them out this Pandora’s box/ I ruined my wedding, now I wish I had a rope/ So, I could still tie the knot,” mgk spits on the sorrowful closer “summer’s gone,” which, at face value, appears to reference his broken engagement to Megan Fox.
His ongoing friendship with Redd, who appeared on 2019 single “Candy” and on 2020’s “all I know,” has been important to him both personally and professionally.
“Growing up in Ohio, everyone kind of knows about everyone,” mgk says. “I fell in love with how much of an art piece he was. I related in so many ways — how easily misunderstood he could be. Because I was rapping in the early 2010s, but I was wearing studded denim jackets, punk patches, ripped jeans and things that weren’t really aesthetically hip-hop.”
When the pair return to Ohio, which they do often, mgk and Trippie usually attempt to meet up and record. During one session, which mgk calls a “special night,” they began recording music, which kicked off their path to making what would become ‘genre : sadboy.’ “We felt really good about these records because they didn’t feel like some of the other records we had made. [In the past], we had experimented with pitching our voices really high, or doing stuff that felt like 2017, 2018 rager music. Stuff that if we didn’t put it out now, then it wouldn’t make sense to put it out later.”
Around the time they teamed up to create ‘genre : sadboy,’ mgk says, “life started to kick both of our asses simultaneously.” He and Redd would spend hours on FaceTime, talking about everything from each other’s psyches to “magic,” “family” and “why certain things are or are not happening for us personally [and] career-wise. … It’s nice to have somebody you can find solace in.”
The idea of feeling misunderstood comes up frequently in mgk’s lyrics. Active since the mid-2000s, mgk grabbed the baton from Y2K nu-metal upstarts like Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park and spent the next two decades merging rap and rock as it suited his mood and creative expression.
As for the EP title ‘genre : sadboy,’ mgk points out the symbolism behind its artwork. “On the cover, ‘genre’ is over my body because that’s one of the big arguments behind mgk: ‘What genre is he? Why is he allowed to do this genre? I don’t like that he does this genre.’ And then ‘sadboy’ is over Trippie’s body because the argument with Trippie is that fans love his ‘sad boy music,’ and they’re mad that he released [2023’s] ‘Mansion Musik,’ which is rager songs. They wanted the ‘sad Trippie’ back.”
Ultimately, neither mgk nor Redd were interested in winning over critics or new audiences with their latest collaboration. This one’s for the existing fans — and, of course — for themselves. “I wanted to just give it away right away,” mgk says of the short time leading to the EP’s release. “Like, yeah, this is a niche project. We’re not doing this for numbers. We’re not doing this to try and get the masses on our side. This is for people who are just sad and want to put this on. Individually, I don’t think that [Trippie and I are] allowed to make those albums. Because people want a roller coaster.

We’re associated with hype shit. Our concerts are hype. I envy people like Lana [Del Rey] because they’re allowed to just make these mood albums. I wanted to have an excuse to make my own, and this seemed like the perfect place to do it.” Though he’d always hinted at having an expanded music palate, rolling through hip-hop to trap to metal, hard rock and pop, in 2020 mgk fully embraced the guitar, releasing the pop-punk-inspired “tickets to my downfall,” which featured drums and production by Travis Barker, who was swiftly turning into a genre godfather, appearing on WILLOW’s howling “t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” and Avril Lavigne’s sneering pop-punk reentry “Love Sux.”
“He’s someone whose front door was always open to me plenty of times during ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ and ‘mainstream sellout,’” mgk says of Barker, who also produced the singer’s 2022 album. That album featured WILLOW on “emo girl” and Bring Me The Horizon’s Oli Sykes on the thrashing “maybe.”
Despite being credited with the 2020s pop-punk revival, raking in awards for ‘Tickets To My Downfall’ and hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with ‘mainstream sellout’ — not to mention nabbing high-profile TV and film roles (2018’s “Bird Box” and portraying Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee in 2019’s “The Dirt”) and earning over $30 million at the box office on the ‘mainstream sellout’ tour — mgk cannot help but feel underappreciated.
Sure, the numbers speak for themselves. But for someone as vulnerable as he is, mgk is quick to note that you can have the biggest and best house on the block — and it can still be empty when you get home.
Reflecting back on the last decade-plus of his life and career, mgk is blunt about the reality of his lived experience.
“I still haven’t found a home, because I didn’t grow up with one,” he says. “I also think a lot of people just skip my background. They just bury that whole thing and act like my life started when I was like 28 and started getting some real success. What about the 10 years I spent underground? What about those years on Warped Tour? When I did the pop-punk album, every band acted like I was brand new. And I was like, ‘But you guys were with me on those stages when I was opening for you at 1 p.m.’”
"So many people walk up to me and they’re like, ‘Dude, what you did, what you did,’ and I’m like, ‘Why is that narrative never told?’"
“I’ve never been a critic favorite,” mgk continues. “I never really looked to them [for] praise. I look to see if they have any valid points that maybe I could soak in and utilize for the next project. Which is why my next solo project will not be a rock album. But when I do decide to do a rock album, I’ve taken in so many of the critics’ opinions, which are actually valued and understood, that [it] will be a really, really intelligent, powerful rock album.”
So there it is: mgk’s next studio release will not be a rock album. “I think it’s always smart to give people what they want,” he ruminates. “And right now it feels like they want a rap album.” But does mgk want to do a rap album? “I do,” he says. “I’ve learned to drop every chip on my shoulder...

When mgk looks back at his favorite artists from earlier generations, ones that were deemed sellouts or not taken seriously, he holds a spark of hope. Maybe some years in the future, his critical success will catch up with those Spotify streams. “I remember blink-182 in middle school, and everyone said, ‘That’s such a poser band.’ Now, all those kids grew up, their egos dropped, they had families and now they’re all like, ‘Dude, I can’t wait to go see blink-182 at the When We Were Young festival.’ I pray that the same thing comes [for me]. Honestly, I don’t know. If it does, great; if it doesn’t, fuck it.
As soon as that redemption arc theory leaves his mouth, mgk changes his mind. “Actually, I don’t care. I do what I do because I love it. I’ve never been a money guy. I’ve never once looked at my bank account in my life. I am strictly here because there’s a hunger inside me that can’t be satiated. No matter how many records are sold, no matter how many concerts are sold out, I just am in love with music and in love with art.”

Edit: I had a feeling this might happen. People, I am talking about the goth genre of music. Not the goth subculture. I am not dictating who can and can't call themselves "goth".
There have been a few posts lately talking about goths and I wanted to share what actual goth is/was for our generation. This isn't me gatekeeping- this is me trying to share something I love with people who may not have been exposed to it or have misconceptions.
I'd start with what goth isn't (or wasn't)- it wasn't Marilyn Manson. I think this is the biggest misconception about goths. The first thing someone might say if I told them I was a goth in the 90s would be, "Oh like Marilyn Manson." Well yes and no. Goths listened to a lot of industrial music too, but that isn't goth music. Same with NIN, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, etc. I love those bands but they're not technically goth.
It's also not symphonic metal (Nightwish, Theatre of Tragedy, Tristania, Within Temptation). Again, some goths might ALSO like those bands but that's it's own thing.
It's absolutely, positively NOT EMO. I can't stress this enough. The only thing goth has in common with emo is a flair for the dramatic. It's also not Evanescence. Wearing dark clothes and heavy eye makeup doesn't make you goth. Otherwise KISS and Stevie Nicks could be considered goth.
So what IS goth? It's a genre of music that came after the punk scene and originated with bands like Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, etc. A lot of these bands moved away from this original goth sound.
By the time our generation had taken up goth we were in the early to mid 90s we were in the 2nd and 3rd wave of goth. These were bands like Fields of the Nephilim, Rosetta Stone, London After Midnight, The Shroud, Switchblade Symphony, Diva Destruction, and a ton more. It was a big thriving scene that still continues.
So how many of you were goths in the 90s? What do you remember about the scene and what were you listening to? What clubs did you go to? I went to Numbers in Houston and The Atomic Cafe in Austin. I'd really like to hear from other people who were into this stuff at the time and still are. What are you listening to now? New bands I really like are Hante., Night Sins, Twin Tribes, She Past Away, Boy Harsher, Ritual Howls, and way more than I can list off here.

The good things in life for me is any knowledge worth knowing, money, or financial value. Sometimes miracles happen, but its no excuse to be waiting on one forever. Coincidences in my life happen too often – I do have a particular interest in the intuitive i.e. scenarios exactly happening in real life before they happen. I can wait for miracles, but whilst I’m doing that, I will try and create them myself. I like learning other perspectives (so long as the other party presents their ideas in a justifiable, well-mannered response), I like learning in academics, so I try to work on that.
I have no control on the bad things in life – although I can be insecure about society’s views upon me, I remind myself that it doesn’t matter, I remind myself of dreams and goals I want to achieve for myself and the future, and hold on for as long as I can. Bad things in life come and go, but there’s no point in wallowing in emotion
Emotions is weird for me – I typically don’t want to have to do with anything emotions-based because it will cloud my problem-solving skills, or my future goals. Biases that impede my judgement could be that I may not care about morales, so I would usually side the majority opinion just to be left alone. It never works for some reason.
I’m very ambitious when it comes to life – I try to refrain from showing it, because I’m afraid others will be ahead. I compare myself to a lot of people to see how well I’m performing, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to ask about someone’s achievements, because I don’t find it humble. If people and obstacles are in my way, I evaluate the roadblock – if its something small (typically it is), I adapt/don’t care. If its big – I just feel melancholy, and in rare cases, confront the roadblock. It is most definitely okay to acquire essential needs by denying them to someone else. I want to be financially secure, have practical knowledge/knowledge for the sake of it, and try to be an all-rounded smart person
I’m pretty simple – all I ask is to be left alone, or to not be trivial and have some respect. People are inherently bad – am I going to do anything about it? No. I can’t be bothered, and I’d rather focus on myself. My duty is to graduate and leave my past behind. I’m not very close to family, or friends because I may not ever see them again. I guess parents owe anything to their child because it’s universal,.
introverted most of the time. I hate talking because I don’t care. Extroverted when it’s something that is interesting to me or benefits me. I feel alive by trying to get all my work done as soon as possible so I can enjoy having a fun time with nothing due.
I don’t need to fit in, but I don’t need to stand out. Social status is important in the sense that it will make me be left alone. Being disconnected doesn’t scare me – if I lost my family, I would accept that death happens by chance or whatever. I am definitely not ‘emo.’
Getting into a school, and realizing it wasn’t as great as you thought it was. the cohort sucks and I do have ideas to prevent the future generations to be awful, but I cannot be bothered sharing them because it’s their fault. people. people I expected more from – to be at least publicly decent, or in any way, contributing to society. no matter how sad it is to me, I can’t do anything about it, so I try to avoid the controversy triggers

I remember being in college or recently graduated from college and heard the term emo. I went through kind of a goth phase but I never remember hearing the term emo in HS. Did I miss something or was that after our little generation?
Edit: It appears there are two different things. The music scene which did exist in the 90s. But then there was something else that seemed to come out between 2001-2005 that was less about the music and more something else I'm not clear on. Thanks for the education.
