2024.05.14 01:16 jack_skellington Dear Bethesda, I'm perma-quitting Fallout 76, and I want you to know why. You can't win me back, but maybe you can help others.

So I logged out of F76 just now, and I will never log back in. It's over for me. The whole issue is 100% avoidable, though. I want to tell Bethesda why they lost me, and obviously this will give away some ways to keep other players.
First, the minor issues, which I'd solve with a mod in Fallout 4, but which are obnoxiously ever-present in the un-moddable F76:
But all of that was survivable. I've been building for a couple of weeks now, finishing quests (mostly not the Responders, but you know, other quests). Except... 3 days ago, I joined a game and the game couldn't place my camp. Someone else was in my spot. OK, no problem, you gave me a free "relocate your camp" so I will. But... all it brought over was my house and water pump. The gardens? Gone.
Not terrible, I'll rebuild. Over the last 3 days, I rebuilt a lot. My place is not good, I'm still low-level, but I had all the crafting, a vending machine, turrets for protection (which almost never seem to trigger on enemies, by the way), beds, and even got a settler who I met, who just hangs out at my settlement and plays guitar. Great.
And then today, the server locked up or went offline mid-game, and I booted back to the main screen. I had been in build mode at the time. I think that might factor in. When I got back in, it couldn't place my camp, gave me a free relocation, I took it, and when I put down the C.A.M.P. what did I get? It saved ONE ROOF TILE. Literally everything from the last 2 weeks was lost. To rebuild I'd need to get the resources again and re-place everything, new. I logged into a new game to see if it was a quirk, but it wasn't.
Bethesda, losing the items I had placed down today when it froze? Understandable. Losing everything, including the original building from days ago? Even the basic concrete flooring from 2 weeks ago? HOW? How could you lose THAT?
Bethesda, the game isn't good enough to persist with through this kind of mistake. I can forgive those smaller things like the cheery delusional "are we in a post-apoc game? tee hee it doesn't seem like it" theme, but if you're gonna do that AND then lose hours & hours & hours of my effort, WTF am I doing here? I'm not rebuilding, Bethesda. Sorry.
But maybe you can fix that for anyone else who is going to hit that same wall. Good luck.
EDIT: Loooooots of butthurt in this topic. LOL. Fanboys gonna fanboy, I guess.

If you've searched this sub or the golf sub for info about Galaxy Watch 6 apps that can be used to do range finding for free, you'll know it's a lot of one-line recommendations without any comparative notes, along with a lot of misinformation. I don't know why that is, but it's pretty frustrating to try and parse. I'm going to see if I can improve upon it a bit below. If you have info that I should add, please feel free to share.
tl;dr - For my purpose, The Grint beats out Golf Pad, 18 Birdies, and Hole 19. I have not tested any other apps.
Here were my 'needs':
  1. Show me the distance to middle using GPS of the green right on my watch, with realtime updating.
  2. Use the watch itself to provide GPS, just in case my phone is in the cart with my partner across the way as he finds his ball or something like that.
These were bonus features I was looking for:
===OBSERVATIONS ABOUT EACH APP===
The Grint pros:
The Grint cons:
18 Birdies pros:

Hole 19 pros:
Hoel 19 cons:
Golf Pad pros:

I hope this helps someone looking for a free solution that works with the Galaxy Watch well.

2024.05.05 07:22 mafatik A question about interior

A question about interior
I have a question about roof pillar (not sure how it's named in English, but see the picture) trims. I have a white roof liner and black trims #1 and #2 (front and middle), and white #3 (trunk). Is this normal or they must be of the same color? If yes, should they be black or white ones? I know there're no similar 2 golfs, but I want to keep my golf authentic as much as possible. The photo from the Internet, I have a gray interior, 1985 CL.

2024.05.03 17:08 CreditMission Products for Predators 5 - Malpractising with Predators

First Prev Thumbnail
The room is dark though shadows shift at its edges, accompanied by hushed, high-pitched voices.
A camera is rolling.
Suddenly, a light from above illuminates the center, revealing a young light green kolshian wearing a cyan blue skirt, sitting upon a wooden stool. She looks around confused with a small red tube in her appendage.
“Did… did the video start? I can see the light flashing…” her face turns a light shade of purple as she looks around.
From the side, a single note from a kazoo sounds out, startling the kolshian. Emerging from the dark comes Salva, her ears high and her tail swaying side to side.
Her voice is loud and cheerful as she begins to sing.
“We have a guest!
We've got a guest!
You'll see our hosting is the best!
Grab some products for some humans and we'll put them to the test!”
Chek follows with fairy wings on his back and a basket full of flower petals cradled in his arm. A raucous tune blasts from the kazoo in his mouth as he dances circles around the guest.
“We've got things, we’ve got stuff.
Our human knowledge ain't no bluff.
On this table, things mysterious
You're not curious? Can't be serious!”
Chek reaches into the basket and procures a flower crown which is placed upon the kolshian’s head before continuing to throw more petals.
“Wait, our guest! Yes, our guest!
She’s a kolshian. You'll be impressed.
And her human cultural knowledge beats the re~st!
Go on and claim your seat,
your rightful place and then you’ll
Be our guest,
Be our guest
Yes ouuuuuur gueeest!”
A red cloth sash gently lowers from above, bathed in light and hanging from a piece of twine. It lands delicately on her shoulders before the twine is disconnected somewhere above and falls behind her.
Salva is breathing heavily. Novel sits adorned with a flower crown and a sash proclaiming her “human expert.” Several stray petals flutter down.
The room lights come on. Kayun slowly descends a ladder with a torch in hand. Jonathan puts away a long pole.
Novel looks at the venlil in front of her in shock and awe. She looks down at the sash, then back up at the panting woman.
“I, uh… t-thank you? So m-much? Can… can y-you sign this?”
With a shaky tentacle, the instrument is extended towards Salva, who perks up quickly, grabs a nearby marker, and un-caps it with a flourish.
“Anything for… our guest!” She signs her name before passing it back.
The ‘human expert’ gingerly accepts the kazoo. Her tail wags happily back and forth as she stares at the instrument.
“T-thank you so much! But, uh… was that really necessary? N-not that I’m complaining of course!”
Jonathan comes back into frame with a wide broom and dust pan and starts sweeping up the petals.
Kayun and Chek carry the ladder away as Salva composes herself.
“Of course! You are… our first guest… on the show! We had to go… all out! Oh boy…” She places both paws on her thighs, panting heavily.
Novel stands from her seat and pats her on the back a few times before noticing something off-screen and sprinting over, leaving Salva to take a seat on the stool.
Moments later, the four others return carrying a long plastic table with cloth-covered items on top, placing it in the center view of the camera.
“T-thank you, uh, it is such an honor to be here!” she says as everyone starts to take their places. “C-can I get your autographs please?”
Jonathan walks up first with a closed smile. “Sure thing… uh…”He examines the instrument to find Salva’s signature plastered across the entire surface, leaving no space for any further names.
Seeing her mistake, Salva walks over to a nearby box and retrieves a pawful of the same instruments.
“Are we really going to use those? I feel like a pad or a piece of paper might be better.” Kayun asks as he is handed a blue kazoo and a marker.
“We have to get rid of these somehow!” she says as she passes one to each of the crew.
It isn’t long before the kolshian has an armful of kazoos which she cradles fondly.“Thank you! Stars! I-I didn’t think I’d get four of them!” Her tail becomes a blur with its speed before it suddenly stops and the kolshian’s face flushes purple again.
“S-so, uh, do I just introduce myself?”
A gesture from everyone in the group convinces her to proceed.“W-well, um, hello viewers! My name is Novel, an independent researcher currently studying human culture and instinctual traits at refugee centers in Dayside City. Currently, I am doing work alongside the UN to help with the cattle rescues to help them integrate back into the herd easier! Uh… you might have seen a couple videos of mine on Bleat or read a few of my papers… a-and I’m a huge fan of the show, s-so I sent a couple messages asking to be on and, uh, here I am!” Her face gets progressively darker as she talks, looking around nervously.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to have you!” shouts Salva, causing the glowing kolshian to flinch slightly. “In the early days there was a lot of fearful speculation, so it was really refreshing to see such a methodical and unbiased approach to spread awareness!”
Salva flicks her ears strongly in affirmation. “So you are working with rescues now? I can’t fathom the challenges that entails.”
“I-It can vary from needing to help someone out of bed to, uh, relapses… not something we need to go into right now of course. Don’t want to bring down the mood.”
“Right, right. It truly is a great tragedy for them, but it’s a relief knowing that they can come home and receive first rate care from such capable helpers!”
The kolshian’s tail sways happily at the compliment as she moves to the table. “T-thank you, I and all the other volunteers really, try our hardest out there, so it’s good to see people care about what we do.”
Salva gives an encouraging ear flick, signing appreciation with her tail before standing up straighter.
“So, moving on then. I believe you have come to share your human expertise with us.”
The guest pauses for a moment before her eyes widen as she runs off frame in a hurry. “Wait! Before we start, I have to get something first!”
The main cast stands confused for a moment before the squid returns with four colorful bags in each appendage, her tail almost wagging in excitement.
“In the s-spirit of the show, I-I wanted to get you all some human products that you all can enjoy! I hope you like them.”
She hands each member a gift bag and steps back, watching their reactions.
Salva opens her bag first and pulls out some neatly folded fabric with a little pink bow placed on the front. A closer examination reveals it to be a fiery red skirt with a yellow stripe going across the elastic belt. Chek finds a similar covering to hers, but with the color changing to a deep forest green with black lace going across the bottom edge.
Kayun is next, with a more complicated yellow and black horizontal stripe pattern going across the whole length while also being made of a thicker material than the rest. Unlike the others, its hem falls below his knees.
Jonathan is last to remove his from a bag of significantly greater mass. A tartan piece of thick wool along with a faux leather pouch attached to a belt.
“Oh..uh, wow. Is this appropriate?” Jonathan mumbles as he examines his gift.
Novel’s tail signals an affirmative as she walks over. “Of course it is! I thought that since this is a show about predator products, then we should share in their custom of pelt wearing!”She turns an eye to the camera and lifts the edges of her own clothing to show the audience. “T-to those at home, these are called ‘skirts,’ and are commonly worn by humans on hot days for good airflow! Jonathan’s is a little different from the rest since his is a different type of skirt called a ‘kilt,’ which was worn by ancient warrior humans back when they were more primitive! If any of you are interested in some human clothing while still having the freedom of movement, this is the best you can get!”
Salva quickly puts it on, swishing the fabric with her tail.
“Thank you Novel, I am quickly becoming a huge fan of these ‘skirds.’ I love how they flow when you move! The color on this one really pops too!.”
Chek flicks to the affirmative as he also tries on his own, examining it in a similar fashion.
Kayun struggles slightly, unable to get the waistband over his tail.
Novel moves to assist Kayun while flicking her tail at Salva. “It’s pronounced ‘skirt,’ actually, but I’m glad you like them! It took me a long time to figure out which ones you guys would like!”
Salva flicks her ear in slight irritation. “Skird.”
“Skir-t!”
“Skird! [BEEP] English!”
Novel flicks her tail in understanding.
“It really is a terrible thing, isn’t it?” She fixes Kayun’s waist band before walking back to the table.
Jonathan gently repackages the gift and places it down beside him.
“Thank you Novel, it does mean a lot, but I’m not sure I should be wearing such cultural dress. I’ll have to ask someone…but it’s really cool! Don’t get me wrong.”
Novel’s tail dips a little as she tilts her head curiously. “Oh, I-I’m sorry, is this rude to wear back in your home tribe? I should have checked first, my apologies.”
Jonathan waves his hand in dismissal.
“It’s fine, it’s fine. Some clothes have a special significance is all. I’m unsure myself, so I’m just playing it safe. Seriously, thank you for the gift.”
Novel shrinks slightly, prompting Salva to step forward signing calm.
“So, as much as we appreciate the gifts, I believe you have some items that may be of particular interest to our viewers. What do you have for us today?”
The kolshian perks up again and moves towards her first item. “R-right! These are some of the products and tools that have helped me in my research with humanity! So, uh… guess I’ll start?”
The guest moves over to the table and removes one of the coverings with little dramatics, revealing… an ordinary metal pipe.
A brief silence follows as the regular members stare in confusion while the kolshian shifts nervously from side to side.
“Okay, uh… this will make sense later, I promise! Jonathan? Can you please hold this for now?” She picks up the pipe and holds it out for Jonathan, who takes it with some hesitation.
It isn’t long after he takes it that he has a couple practice swings in the air, making it whistle and for Kayun to flinch away.
Salva’s tail sways in amusement as she gets close.
“Pity, if only we had a piñata?”
The kolshian rubs her upper arms together a bit as she looks on.“Please don’t. I know my head is big, but it’s just full of water and brain…”
The human and venlil look at her with wide eyes.“What? Nononono, I would never attack you with this!”
“Yeah, it’s uh…a piñata is like, paper and such. It’s a party thing! O-our other video!”
The two continue to give their best reassurances to the squidologist before she lets out a bubbling laugh. “It’s fine, I’m just giving an example of common human behavior.”She turns back to the camera again. “Humans tend to normalize violence in their everyday speech, and commonly make jokes about it to themselves and others. Now, it’s not much of a product, but if you stick around humans long enough, you’ll receive more of it than you would ever want.”
She quickly moves onto her next item, the rest of the cast look on in stunned silence.
“As we all know, Humans do not have tails or ears to effectively communicate like most other species do. Instead, they use their faces and specialized hand gestures to show how they feel and express themselves. W-while the hand gestures are more b-based of which culture/tribe they come from, their faces are almost universal in what they mean. So…”
She lifts the cloth off the next pile to reveal an assortment of different makeup products. Foundation, eye liner, lip gloss, and many more. The multicolored bottles and palettes appear in a condition best described as ‘preloved’.
Novel speaks with more confidence as she continues.
“Humans created a whole industry dedicated to their face paints they call ‘makeup’! The main purpose of these paints is to accentuate the features humans find beautiful on their faces, like their eyes, cheeks, and mouth. And to show you what I mean, I will apply these products to our resident primate!”
She walks out of frame for a brief moment and comes back with a chair to the increasingly nervous human.
“If you wouldn’t mind taking a seat, I’ll get you looking beautiful!”
“Yes, go be beautiful Jonathan.” Salva flicks her tail towards the chair as her mate releases a sigh.
“Well, it’s not like I don’t expect this kinda stuff. Just…uh…be gentle?”
Novel rifles through the multitude of supplies on her table, appearing to grab different brushes and pallets at random.
“Don’t worry! I did a lot of this on myself to make sure it works! If you’re not comfortable though, we could get Kayun or Chek to take your place!” she says while looking up at the other two. The gojid takes a step back.
“T-thank you, but I’ve had enough experience with human beauty regimes.”
“Sorry, my fur’s too dark.” Chek flicks an apology.
“Hmm, I guess it’s just you then. It’ll be fine though! Just try and relax, it’s meant to be soothing after all!”
Novel gets to work with practiced motions, her body thoroughly blocking the camera. It’s well known that a magician never reveals their secrets. As she works, Kayun moves to peruse her wares.
“Are there animal products in these?” he asks, Novel signing to the negative though not looking away from her work.
“Oh no. I’m still squeamish about that kind of thing. It’s all plant-based stuff.” Reassured, Kayun gathers a small selection and heads over to Chek.
Other than the occasional ‘sorry’ and wince coming from the human-kolshian pair, there is no indication as to what she is doing for several minutes before she finally claps her arms together with a proud “Done!”
She steps to the side to show the human face with large dark purple spots under his eyes with the lids being a deep black. His cheeks have a light gradient of violet dashed across them that highlights his cheekbones and jawline.
Novel steps over to the table and holds up a mirror. “So, what do you think? You like it?”
He contemplates himself in the mirror for a moment, rubbing a hand down his ‘bruised’ face.
“Yep… that’s pretty much what I expected… Uuh, good work though. Might have gotten the colors a bit off.”
“The colors are off? These are the same ones I use.”
Salva walks up next to her with a palette of her own.
“Well, you used purple for kolshian blood, not red like a human! You’d need a little something like this!”
Salva grabs a small stick, which, when uncapped, reveals a vibrant, crimson red. With deft movements, she draws a thick, waxy line just below the cheek bones on each side.
An attempt to blend it in with her finger pad causes it to streak.
“Uhh…perfect!” she whistles, admiring her handiwork.
“W-was that lipstick?” Jonathan asks, receiving a shrug in response.
“I believe it was... Don’t worry! We are… I am a professional!” Novel says as she attempts to fix it up a little, the tools and brushes filling her arms.
Salva flicks her ears in mirth at her. “I’d say I’m doing a pretty good job… he looks striking! What do you use for blending again?”
“You can use this sponge, it works best in my opinion…” Novel works diligently, Salva’s tail whips violently as she attempts to copy on the other side of his face. Finally satisfied, the two take a step back.
“Hmmm… maybe that's a bit much. It looks like his snarl is as wide as his face…”
“No, no. They emote alot with the mouth, it’s better to emphasize it, isn’t it?”
“True, I’ve just never seen this style on any human before. They like looking at the eyes more than the lips, I feel.”
Jonathan remains silent, a living doll on which to practice their craft.
“Oh protector!” Kayun gasps, having returned with Chek following. He tries to raise his ears from their pinned state. “I mean…It appears human makeup may forever elude me. Sorry Chek.”
Upon Chek’s dark furred cheeks is a dash of holographic glitter, the tail of which fading uniformly as it moves around his eyes and towards his ears. Small spots of glitter form neat circular freckles upon his snout. Moving down, his mane and body exhibit a gentle shimmer, flecks sparkling as they catch the light. His formerly white swirls are now a mixture of pastel colors, appearing to glow against the more muted grey background.
Novels tail sways happily as she sees Chek’s new look. “Wow, Kayun, you did amazing! Chek looks absolutely beautiful!”
The Gojid looks back at Chek, now sporting a heavy bloom on his face. “Really? All I did was add some glitter and a bit of color.”
“But that is exactly what human make-up is! To bring out the best details of someone with a little bit of face paint! You have clearly succeeded!”
“Yeah, good job Kayun! You can do my makeup anytime.” Jonathan encourages before a tail puff baps him in the face, smearing it further.
The Kolshian takes another, smaller mirror from the table and holds it out for the bedazzled venlil, who admires his visage before giving a strong ear flick of approval, his tail communicating further delight.
“I like how it makes my swirls pop.” Chek moves the mirror around to look at himself from all angles while his fairy wings flutter behind him.
“Two complete successes! A great start!” Novel says while putting things back where she had them, making sure they were all sealed tight.
Once done, her attention is brought back to the camera.
“Our next item has actually been demonstrated to us already! If you all would direct your attention to our pretty predator here!”She steps to the side to show the colorful human wielding the pipe.
“See the pipe we gave him earlier? Notice the way he was gripping it the entire time and how he reacted when he first picked it up. This is actually a natural human instinct to find a ‘weapon’ to protect themselves from predators since they lack any natural defense against such attacks!”
The human looks down at the pipe in a mixture of surprise and disbelief.
“Nov,’ you sure this is a thing? I was just holding it like this to make it easier.”
“I’m certain, trust me on this!” Her enthusiasm remains undimmed as she continues.“Now, don’t be alarmed if you see this! This instinct is purely defensive in nature and a human will likely not even realize that they have done this till pointed out! In fact, my next few items are to lean into this instinct as a form of relaxation!”
Lifting the sheet off the table reveals a large collection of various types of human ‘sticks.’ Baseball bats, golf clubs, measuring sticks, several markers taped together, and plain wooden sticks from a tree, are all just a few among many, many more.
“Sticks hold a venerated position in human society, with many sports and activities being constructed around the different ways you can hold them. As you can see, they have quite the variety! Would anyone like to pick one to try it out?”
Salva is the first to approach the table and picks up what is labeled a ‘groan tube,’ which makes a very loud buzzing as it is flipped upside down.
“That one is a common human toy from what I gather. Makes human fry laugh when they hear it for some reason. A good way to entertain them I’ve found.”
“Seems pretty fragile though.” Salva gives it a swing, a pained yelp sounding from the tube.
“That is intentional. It’s so that human children don’t hurt each other when they swing it around, another common thing they do,” she says while taking a different stick in each arm, handing a regular wooden branch to the human.
“Jonathan could you… oh wait, sorry.” She clears her throat and starts again. “Paw!”
He seems to be shocked for a moment underneath the face paint before slowly extending his hand, the motion seeming to send Salva into raucous brays.
“That’s my good boy!” she whistles as her tail strokes down his back.
“For the love of! What am I meant to do? Not accommodate our guest!” Her whistles intensify as he flashes her a sneer.
Novel chuckles along nervously.
“D-did I do something wrong?”
“No, it’s just…” he lets out a sigh as he runs a hand through his hair. “I knew that video would cause problems…whatever, do as you will. Just don’t treat all humans like this.” He re-offers his ‘paw.’
“Ah…okay…” Novel places the wooden stick on top before continuing. “Now, how does this one compare to the other one?”
He takes the stick, rubbing his thumb over the rough texture.
“I’m a sommelier of sticks now I guess…Uh, a woody texture with uh…” he brings it to his nose, “Spicy notes, reminiscent of…wait, is this eucalyptus?”
Her tail wags with pride.
“Yes! I imported that one from Earth, express shipping and all!”
“You…imported a stick…from another planet…”
“So you could have a piece of home. Better or worse than the pipe? Which one makes you feel safer?”
“Safer? Well in a fight, I would still prefer the lead pipe in the library.”
“Library? Lead?” Salva pipes, which Jonathan dismisses with a hand wave.
“Next up, the yardstick! Or the meter stick to the non-burger people of Earth! Or a tail stick to those with side-facing eyes!”
She hands it to the man while taking the other two with her other appendages.
“Ppff!” Jonathan stifles a laugh, before again dismissing it with a handwave. “Sorry, tail stick got me…carry on.”
Everyone else in the room gives him a confused look before the guest turns back to the camera.
“Right, um, anyways. Compared to the tree branch from before, how does this one feel to hold?”
“Uh, a little more awkward as the edges are kind of sharp. Plus, you can't beat the weight of a good pipe, you know?”
Her eyes seem to light up at his words.
“Yes, exactly! Unlike the stick, which was easier to hold, this tail stick has much less weight to it! The most important factor in getting your human a stick is its weight and how it feels to hold! Can’t swing it without a good grip after all! Which leads us to the next one!”Switching sticks out again, this time with a golf club. She gives a questioning tail flick to the human which he surprisingly understands.
“Better than the ruler at least because it's got a nice hand hold, but…” he swings it down once.
“Like, it's a golf club. It’s not designed for swinging like a sword, all the weight’s down at the bottom. Really I’d just feel I need to use it as intended.” With a wiggle of his hips he takes a practice golf swing. “Uh..FORE!”
Novel seems to be beaming as she looks back to the camera.
“That is because of the last important trait: Balance! A good swinging stick must have its weight distributed in a certain way to activate this instinct to its fullest! This stick, the ‘golf club,’ has most of its weight at the very end, making it ‘unbalanced!’ So, finally, our last stick!” Exchanging sticks once more, she hands a wooden baseball bat to the human, who then moves it around in his hand to get a good grip.
“This is called a ‘baseball bat,’ a tool used in a very old and famously boring Human sport! It checks every box we have listed so far! Heavy weight, solid grip, perfect balance, and it looks pretty cool! How does this one feel?”
"Have to correct you there Nov, Cricket's the most boring sport, but yeah, it does feel pretty nice!"
The human takes a couple slow practice swings at first before quickly speeding up, making Kayun flinch as the force behind the swing.
“A-are you sure this is safe? Giving a human a weapon might not be the best message to send people.”
Novel raises an appendage in protest as she places the other sticks on the table.
“Not a weapon, a stick! Very different. One is brutish and used for attacking people, while the other is civilized and used for defending yourself. It harkens back to their tree dwelling ancestry, thus eliciting a calming response.” Salva turns the groan tube upside down, creating a loud unpleasant sound.
“... with exceptions.”
Jonathan rests the bat on his shoulder. “Well, I’ll be honest. I understand why you might think we’d feel better holding a…stick, and sure, if I felt physically threatened it would be good to have, but I think you’re over-selling it as a soothing device.”
“Hmm, is that so?” Novel says as her tail sways in amusement. “Not surprised, it's pretty subtle if you aren't looking for it. To those of you watching at home, you may have noticed some changes in our human’s body language. Their stance is wider, their shoulders are slouched, and, if you can see past the face paint, they have had a faint smile on their lips through this whole presentation!”
“Sure it wasn’t our releasing beauty regime giving him confidence?” Salva piped.
“Oh yeah,” Jonathan moves the bat back down and leans his weight on it. “I guess I was physically threatened. You’re onto something Novel.”
“As I said, it is a subconscious instinct! Humans have a very hard time noticing it unless it was pointed out to them, but it is proven to be a cheap and effective way to help any Terran you meet to feel safe. There are many, many other things you could do as well, but that would take about a dozen claws to explain them all in detail. If you really are curious, there should be a link in the description to a paper I wrote about this very subject. If you are curious, please go check it out!”
Novel moves on to the third and final item on the table, her tail nervously swishing behind her.
“Now… Jonathan? Just keep hold of your stick and keep calm okay? The third item is a test.”
“Um, okay? That…uh…that doesn’t inspire confidence.”
“Oh, right… sorry, Um…” She awkwardly turns back to the camera. “So, my last product for this paw is a little special, as it addresses a problem that I think all of us prey are familiar with from when we first meet Humans. Our instinctual fear. Some deal with it differently than others, but we all come to terms eventually.”
Kayun nods along strongly, giving a venlil-like ear flick of affirmation.
“But we must remember, just because they are terrifying doesn’t mean they don’t feel similar fear. For example, they seem to struggle with exoskeletal species, such as the tilfish.”
“Oh man,” Jonathan rubs his hair. “Yeah, they are a bit creepy. Like, I feel like a hypocrite considering how annoying it is to constantly freak people out by existing, but yeah…I get it…”
Novel’s tail signs understanding before lifting up the cloth to show a large glass jar with holes poked in the top for air. Inside the Jar sits a clump of grass, some tiny twigs, a handful of flowers, and a large multicolored insect with beetle-like carapace and many legs.
“Naturally, it would be unethical to use a tilfish, so this, as many of you know, is a Laysli. A common pollinator here on Venlil Prime, and for similar reasons, humans are absolutely terrified of them.”
“Oh God!” His knuckles tighten on the bat while taking a few steps back. “Tis a big boy huh?” His eyes lock on the jar.
“Oh, you really are scared?” Salva moves to his side and strokes down his back. “They’re harmless you know, they only sting if you disturb their nest.”
“They sting?”
“Here,” Chek holds up the jar, pointing at the 2 back legs. “It’s a female, and their back legs inject venom…males are smaller and harmless.” He opens the jar and lets the large bug crawl onto his paw.
“Chek?!?” The human shouts, eyes widening in shock.
“Relax,” Salva coos. “Don’t you come from a death world? This is Venlil Prime, the worst it could give you is a large welt.”
“You're safe Jonathan, just focus on your stick. Let it center you. Calm…” Novel encourages. “Chek, you can bring it closer, please?”
Chek only takes a step and a half before the beast stirs. Turning slightly, its carapace splits, unveiling iridescent wings. It leaps into the air.
BZZZZZZZZZZZZ
” As the laysli moves lazily through the air, the human reacts on instinct. The muscles in his arms knot as they are drawn taught, the bat at the ready. The large insect barely dodges the hard metal as it is swung down.
CRACK!
The jar and table alike shatter in a shower of shrapnel, only half a tail from where Kayun is standing…From where Kayun is falling, as he collapses onto the floor in shock!
The laysli’s evasive flight carries it closer to the human’s head, his previously powerful drive devolving into frenzied swings. As the others give him distance, and the laysli continues its dance, the human stumbles.
WHACK!!
The view tumbles rapidly as the camera is launch-
----
Novels face is filling the screen, captured by the camera of her pad.
“So umm… It’s best not to arm a human with a stick and then…subject them to their greatest fear… S-sorry everyone.”
She moves the camera to reveal a frazzled human crouching next to a frazzled gojid, apologizing profusely. Salva hovers over Chek as he attempts to extract the memory from the corpse former camera.
“We’re not going to have to reshoot are we?”
“Camera’s brahked, but memory should be okay.” Chek signs calm as he attempts to pry off some disfigured protective casing. Salva’s ear flicks up before she turns her attention to the kolshian and moves closer.
“Sorry about that. I’ve heard of human’s fight reflex, but never seen them demonstrate it like that before. Um… I can pay for a replacement if you want.”
Salva flicks the negative.
“It's fine. We can claim it on tax. And it was just a Laysli.”
“Winged nightmare!” Jonathan protests, which she dismisses with her tail.
“Gotta control your instincts, it's coming out of your pay.”
“Pay?”
She whistles a laugh.
“Anyway!” She squeezes close to Novel so they can both be in shot.
“Thank you so much for coming, this has been incredibly educational!”
Novel returns the embrace somewhat awkwardly.
“A-and thank you for having me! It was a pleasure to be here and meet all of you in person! Uh… a-and I hope you viewers at home learned something about our new primate friends! Thank you Products for Predators for having me!”
The crew all gather around the camera for the final shot. Novel hands the pad to Jonathan to lift the camera up higher to get the whole crew. Also in view: a shattered table, a disassembled camera, an upturned box of kazoos.
“Thank you all for watching and see you next time!” Salva says with a tail wave farewell, followed by everyone else.
The pad lowers as the camera continues to roll.
Novel is the first to pipe up.
“Where did that laysli even go? I don’t see it.”
Chek turns to show the arachnid crawling along his back, its wings once again unfurling.
The pad quickly begins to descend to the floor as an ear piercing scream is heard.
EEIII-!!

2024.05.01 19:28 amanman26 Where can I find more of these hats?

Where can I find more of these hats?
I have the hats in the second and 3rd photo. But the first I found on eBay. Haven’t had a lot of luck finding much. The only search words that really work is “vintage buckram golf caps” or “vintage tecumesh golf caps”, but only a handful. I was able to find the ones I have out in the wild randomly.
If anyone knows where I can find more or what I should be searching for, that would be much appreciated.
I also know the one in the second photo is from Taylormade and can be found under “Taylormade Men’s rope hat” but I think that’s the only one they sell with like this liner on the inside and they don’t mention that it has the liner either.

  2. Attn2Detail Medium Barlock- This one has blue denim Micarta scales and an S30V blade. First owner and a bit of cut and carry. No real flaws that I can find and the edge is still factory and sharp. In excellent condition. SV/TV-$625
3. Bark River Cub EDC- 3V blade and green linen micarta scales, with mosaic pins. Second owner, no real cut or carry. Edge is still factory and sharp to my knowledge and the knife is in like new condition. SV/TV-$240
  1. Simeon Mini Prodigy- CTS-XHP blade and Ti handles. First owner, no real cut or carry. In mint condition. Does have a small amount of vertical play, but this can’t be felt when opening and closing the knife. SV/TV-$775
  2. ZT 0990- 20CV blade, with CF inlayed Ti frames. First owner, a bit of carry, but no real cutting. Edge is factory sharp and overall the knife is in excellent condition. SV/TV-$200

I had this one professionally sharpened, so it has a very sharp, but not factory edge. Some very faint scratches on the blade (you need pretty bright light to see them) and some scuffs on the clip. The primary bevel is a bit uneven. Scales are clean to my eye. SV/TV-$825
7. Oz Roosevelt #1210- Darkwashed golf putter scales and a stonewashed Magnacut blade. Second owner, a bit of carry and no significant cutting. Edge is factory sharp and the knife is in excellent condition, with no real flaws to speak of. SV/TV-$850
All knives come with their original boxes and accessories unless noted otherwise. Interested in selling or trading and will consider all offers. Willing to negotiate on price, so it doesn’t hurt to ask. CONUS only and F&F only (will consider Apple Pay, Zelle or Venmo if you don’t like PayPal). Thanks for looking and have a nice day.

2024.04.25 07:42 sleepyjared [WTS] OZ Golf Putter Rosie 🌹, Peña Mula, Bravo, and Dogleg, Quiet Carry The Nine, Tactile Bexar, Kunwu Mini Tao w/Thumb Stud Mod

Will answer any messages in the morning so don't be discouraged if you don't hear back right away..

Paypal FF with NO NOTES for payment, prices include Priority shipping with insurance to the USA only. I welcome any requests for additional photos, videos, or information, so please ask. Not looking for any trades right now.
Thanks for looking!

SOLD SOLD SOLD Oz Roosevelt #738, DOB 5/24/22, Magnacut blade, Dark Wash Golf Putter Handles, Black Hardware and Backspacer - Pics/Video - SV950 - I will probably regret this, I waited forever to come across this config. At least second owner, light carry and use by me. Pretty sure factory edge still. Not sure if the dark wash was original or not, but it hides whatever wear is there really well. Black hardware installed but comes with a set of brand new silver hardware too. Also comes with 2 sets of extra bearings, the stock ones and the other I believe are cookies and cream. Pretty sure the installed bearings are Skiffs but haven't disassembled this one myself. Action is as good as it gets.
SOLD SOLD SOLD Quiet Carry The Nine, Stonewash Magnacut Blade, Knurled Stonewash Handles with Black (and White?) Carbon Fiber Inlays - Pics/Video - SV300 - Second owner, only lightly carried by me. I don't think I ever cut with it but if I did it would have just been an amazon package. Flicked it a bunch. Disassembled to install Skiff bearings, it is crazy smooth. Killer acoustics too. Factory edge and still very sharp. The CF inlay I believe is black and white, but the "white" is more of a silver and shimmers in the light. Whatever it is it's stunning. Includes original box and bearings.
Peña Mula Crane's Cutlery Exclusive, #92 of 100, Hand Rubbed Satin M390 Blade, Black PVD Handles, Wood Inlays, Lynch Clip - Pics/Video - SV350 - This thing is so gorgeous. Original owner, bought new from CC, never cut or carried. I did install a Lynch deep carry clip, the clip holes needed to be modified to accept the thicc hardware of the Mula, but the knife itself was not modified in anyway and original clip is included if you want to go back to stock. Dual thumb studs and front flipper, amazing Peña action. Includes box, Peña cloth, and Crane's Cutlery cloth. Full disclosure: There are some of these still available new (mine's 92 of only 100 made, so probably not many) but with tax and shipping and Lynch clip I'm asking for just under what I have in it.
Peña X-Series Bravo, M390 Blade, Knurled Titanium Full Frame Lock, Lynch Clip - Pics/Video - SV250 - This is IMO the best configuration of the Bravo, I love the full frame lock as opposed to the liner lock models. Second owner, carried some, don't think I ever cut with. Factory edge. Disassembled to install Skiff bearings, it's crazy buttery. Dual thumb studs and front flipper. Has a Lynch Service Bronze deep carry clip installed, matches the hardware nicely. Some snails on the clip but the entire rest of the knife is minty. Includes box, original clip and hardware, and original bearings.
SOLD SOLD SOLD Peña X-Series Dogleg, M390 Blade, Blue Micarta Handles - Pics/Video - SV160 - Second owner, no carry or cut by me. Factory edge. Wonderful little front flipper. I love the dogleg shape, it's probably my favorite of these throwback Peña designs. Unfortunately it just doesn't get any pocket time. The micarta color is listed as blue, but it's VERY dark and can look black in certain light, then in other light it looks blueish green. Whatever the actual color it's very lovely. Includes original box.
SOLD SOLD SOLD Tactile Knife Co. Bexar, Magnacut Blade, Titanium Frame Slipjoint - Pics/Video - SV130 - Got this off the swap less than a month ago, asking what I paid for it. Wanted to try a slipjoint and they're just not for me. Was lightly carried and used by original owner, but none by me. The design of this is awesome, it's unbelievably thin. I'm not qualified to speak about how good of a slipjoint this is, but I can say it's very snappy and satisfying, and the half stop is good enough that I didn't cut my finger off closing it one handed for the video. So that's something. Comes with lanyard and titanium bead, but no box. Will ship in a Civivi pouch.
Kunwu Mini Tao, Elmax Blade, Orange Peel Titanium Frame Lock - Pics/Video - SV120 - I have a Tao Compact and it's one of my favorite knives. This one is identical in every way except it's teeny tiny itty bitty. I included a photo of it next to a Mini Bugout to give you an idea of how small. That said, for its size, it's still super usable. Perfect 5th pocket knife. I bought this from Rocky Top Customs who added thumb studs and black cerakoted the hardware. Some of the cerakote is rubbing off on the show side pivot and one body screw. The thumb studs are a game changer, and I'll probably send my Tao Compact in to have them added. Despite how small this is all deployment methods work really well. I never cut or carried this myself, and not sure about previous owner(s) or if it's factory edge still or not, but it appears to be. No box for this one.

2024.04.24 06:10 FortressOfSolidude Changing keywords?

I want to recompile bash with adjustments to the keywords and names of certain built ins.
Ideally, I want them to be single characters. Has anyone done this? Are there any gotchas? My Google fu is failing.
I'm interested in compacting the syntax of one liners for the purpose of playing code golf. So I'm not worried about readability.

2024.04.20 16:28 AgesofFury An expansive list of interesting plots that the series could still do (and the overwhelming amount of untapped potential it still has)

Unnamed episode idea: A group of Loud siblings and side characters end up trapped in an abandoned house together and have to fight their way out of a series of traps and pranks. Kind of like SAW but more light-hearted and kid-friendly. However, Luan is also captured, seemingly meaning the master prankster is somebody else. SPOILER: Possibly a story I'll be writing soon.
An unnamed sequel to "One of the Boys": Yeah, I know the episode sucked. But let's be fair. The premise of that episode still has so much untapped potential. With better writing and a better execution, a story focusing more in-depth on Linka and the Loud brothers could be very interesting and fun to see.
More episodes where members of the friend group/s interact with the Loud siblings: I will agree that there perhaps are just a few too many episodes focusing on the friend groups (especially Lincoln's), even if some of them are good characters and some of the episodes themselves can actually be quite strong sometimes. But if the show is going to include them a lot more, maybe it would be more efficient to mix and match some of the friends with some of the Loud sisters. For example, mixing up Lynn and Liam has been very successful so far. I also did a story that mixed up Lucy with Stella ("Leaf Our Town Alone"), so maybe this could be an efficient way to keep including the friends while not ignoring the fact that this show is still supposed to be about the Louds.
An episode where all the main characters are either David Steele characters or Ace Savvy characters: Basically, Lincoln and his sisters (and/or friends) are all superheroes or spies for an episode and they embark on an adventure together. It certainly could be a lot of fun.
An episode where Luna shows off a new talent, hobby, or interest: Luna is a good character, but why does it feel like she still has such limited range after 7 SEASONS? Aside from briefly being shown to be good at laser tag in "Racing Hearts", the only thing she's really into is music (singing and dancing also kinda fit into that same niche). Let's flesh her out some more, because it's embarrassing that she doesn't have more character range by this point. It's not believable that a character wouldn't have a wider amount of things that she's into. The rest of the sisters have other things that they like or do outside of their core shtick. Why not Luna?
An episode where Luna and Sam bond over common interests: Building on the previous idea, remember when Luna and Sam said they'd start seeking out mutual interests so that they could do stuff they liked together (aside from music, obviously) at the end of "Racing Hearts"? Well, we're over 4 seasons later, and that STILL hasn't happened. Come on, show. Get on with that.
An episode where Lana meets Becca Chang at the zoo: Maybe they come into conflict because Lana believes animals shouldn't be locked up in cages, but comes to realise that Becca and her colleagues take good care of the animals and they don't mind it, plus sometimes animals running wild can cause chaos. I don't know, but I think there's potential there between Lana and Becca.
An episode (or multiple episodes, actually) where Lynn uses her strength and aggression to do something noble: One of the things that contribute to this unfortunate never-ending level of hate that Lynn gets is the fact that her toughness and strength are only ever used for a quick gag or to make her an antagonist like in "Snow Escape". Whenever it could be used to help somebody out, she's either written out of the plot entirely ("No Bus No Fuss" writes her out when she could have been involved somehow in helping Lincoln and friends overcome the bullies), or she's nerfed to the point of being useless ("Lynn and Order" has her unable to overpower a little cat less than half her size for some reason, despite the immense strength she has shown in other episode). Let Lynn save Lincoln from bullies, or do something really badass in some episodes that shows that her brawn can be used for good, noble acts that benefit her siblings, and that she's not just a nuisance to them. My superior re-write of "Lynn and Order" would be a great example of this. For me, this is one of the absolute most important things for the show to do that it STILL hasn't done yet. Honestly, it's ridiculous that this hasn't happened after 7 seasons. It's far more important that the show does this than it does an episode about Dante burying a secret or Gus being a great singer, for Christ's sake. We need to get rid of the Lynn hate, once and for all.
A Sequel to "Lynn and Order": Building on the last point, maybe there could be an episode where an out-of-control bullying problem occurs, and the students need tough and badass hall monitor Lynn Jr to come and save the day by taking down all the bullies. Sort of similar to the "Lynn and Order" rewrite I did, but different since this would be a sequel to that episode rather than a rewritten version of it.
A Sequel to "Sitting Bull": Like the episode or not, the premise of the rough and abrasive Lynn being a babysitter is one that is filled with comedic potential. The former episode capitalised on some of it, but more comedy (and maybe even some solid character development this time) could be derived from it.
An episode focusing on Luan and influencer boxing: YouTuber boxing is quite a big thing these days, and a lot of recent episodes seem to be drawing attention to the fact that Luan is probably a lot stronger than she looks (look at those legs in "Dread of the Class", man XD). Luan is a bit of an online star, if her whole "Luan Out Loud" thing is any indication, so maybe Luan gets into some beef with a rival online persona, and things kick off. It could potentially be funny.
An episode pairing up Lynn with Luan: I don't know what it would be about, but since they're two of my favourite siblings, it's a shame we haven't really had an episode focusing on these two together (the closest we've had is that short where Leni is a detective and they are the two antagonists who frame Lincoln).
An episode where the Loud cousins get a better chance to interact with the main Louds: While I liked "Twas the Fight Before Christmas", it did suffer a similar problem to "The Loudest Thanksgiving" from season 3. There was so much focus on Lynn Sr and Lance's tiresome rivalry that the new characters got a limited amount of time to shine. Also, there is so much more they could do when it comes to their potential interactions with the main Loud family. For example, an interaction between Lynn Jr and Lance, Sharon, and/or Shiloh could be cool considering Lance's side of the family shares a passion for athleticism and fitness with LJ. Her beating Lance at one of his own strength records would be particularly hilarious.
More episodes where Lincoln and Lynn bond: Because why not? Don't know what the episodes would be about. But episodes where they get along and/or work together (i.e. "Can't Lynn Em All", "Diss the Cook", "Sofa so Good", "Middle Men", etc..) are also great, so yeah.
Episodes where certain characters come back like Rocky, Cricket, Meli, Darcy, etc: There are so many underused characters that could be given a bit more spotlight somehow.
Voided: Speaking of Rocky, maybe the show does something similar to "The Amazing World of Gumball" where it turns out there is a void or alternate pocket of reality where unwanted or forgotten characters are sent to, because why not? XD Maybe Lincoln, Rusty, and Lucy go into the void to rescue Rocky from being forgotten/non-existent. That would explain why he's mysteriously never in the show anymore despite the fact that his brother and father appear all the time.
Cutting Loose: Also, speaking of Cricket, what about an episode that shows how she likes to "cut loose" in her downtime when not being a prim and proper pageant legend? Maybe she's actually a super rough underground roller derby player or something that Lola doesn't know about. Such a reveal could be hilarious. XD
Misfits: Lynn decides to invent a new sport. She gathers a group of people who she knows excel at a particular sport (i.e. Lori with golf, Lucy with volleyball or basketball, Clyde with dodgeball when he's mad, Liam with baseball, etc..) and puts them into a group and has them compete against another team. Not sure exactly how this would play out (yet), but it's a concept that has some potential if done in a good way.
Snow Wars: Lynn and her excessive brawn goes up against Lisa and her tech/robotics in a snow battle of epic proportions, much to the dismay of the rest of the family. Basically "Snow Escape" meets "Snow Bored".
Nice Guys Finish First: When people have finally had enough of Scoots being an abrasive jerk, she realises she needs to change her attitude and turns to Royal Woods's resident sweetheart, Leni Loud. Leni tries to teach Scoots to be nicer to people, with naturally amusing results. She also likely employs the help of her friends and/or family for the job.
She's a Natural: An episode idea where Lucy Loud really dedicates herself to a particular sport. Aside from being Lynn's roommate and probably having picked up a few things from her over the years, Lucy has demonstrated that even without proper effort, she has some natural athletic sports talent. In one episode, she quickly became a great basketball player. Then there's "Sand Hassles" where she's shown to be naturally good at volleyball, despite seemingly never playing it. This suggests that she has natural gifts at sports. Maybe we could get an episode exploring this. Feel free to provide suggestions as to what sport she should take up for this plot.
Future Frenzy: An episode showing the Loud family 20 or so years into the future, when all the kids are grown up and most of them have partners and/or children of their own. It could be very fun and interesting to see. However, a concept like this could be saved for the grand finale of the series.
Game Gear: Lincoln and Lana enter a video game tournament together. Could be a great sequel to "Game Off" and a really fun story where they bond. That's it, really.
Code Monkeys: An idea FictionalMediaBully had about Lincoln and Lana becoming young game developers/programmers. Another potential "Game Off" sequel story. Speak to him about further details.
Lynnception: A sequel to "Dream a Lily Dream". Lynn Sr has recurring nightmares due to an old traumatic memory and becomes a nervous wreck, so his children use Lisa's machine and enter his dreams and fight off whatever terrors await there.
22 Short Stories About Royal Woods: Similar to the famous episode of a similar name from "The Simpsons". A 22-minute episode focusing on the lives and escapades of various supporting and underexposed minor characters from the show. Sadly, you can tell the show's crew would like to use Flip, Scoots, Bolhofner, etc... I was thinking of less overused characters for such an idea, but hey, what can you do? XD Maybe this is another idea I could write at some time.
Lola in London: Based on another idea FictionalMediaBully previously shared with me about Lola and the Louds going to London and doing some stuff. Maybe it could be a fun episode. I don't know. Ask him for the details more about that one.
A Way With Words: Given their mutual interest in writing, Rita convinces Jesse to hire Lucy as a junior writer. Something good could potentially come from this premise.
Love Blossoms: An episode focusing on the details of Lynn Sr and Rita's relationship. We know some details about how they first met and fell in love, but there could be a very touching episode that expands on it at some point. Maybe the parents tell their kids about the story and they frequently interrupt with funny quips and one-liners to add to the humour of the story.
After Hours: Perhaps the show could do an episode about one, some, or all of the Loud siblings staying up too late at night, and the hilarious consequences that could ensue from such a simple scenario. Sometimes some of the show's best episodes are the simple ones, after all. Just look at "Space Invader".
Trapped: The Loud family are in an escape room. This is a less hectic version of the idea I have above, but while that's a big prank threat, this is just a more relaxed and casual escape room endeavour featuring the titular family.
Flipped: Having finally had enough of his scamming, cheating ways, the Loud family reports Flip and his business goes under. However, they feel sorry for him as he quickly becomes a penniless, homeless wreck. They help him regain his business, but only if he promises to be a more clean-cut, honest, and fair businessman.
At Long Last Leave: Based on the Simpsons episode of the same name, Royal Woods becomes fed up with the antics and chaos of the Loud family, and force them out. They go and live somewhere else, but hate it. Eventually, they return to Royal Woods and try to prove to the townsfolk that they're an okay family to live around. Plenty of comedy and good character moments could possibly be derived from this narrative scenario.
Black Magic: Lincoln is doing his first big performance as a magician. However, when he discovers the extent to which his sister Lucy and her fellow Morticians are capable of performing REAL magical spells, he employs their help to make his stage performances more spectacular.
A Real Boy: As the name implies, Lisa Loud does a Pinnochio on her robot, Todd, and turns him into a real human being. Who knows what could come out of such a scenario?
Michigan's Got Talent: The citizens of Royal Woods all compete against each other in a general talent show to see who can impress the judges the most. Plenty of hi-jinks, hilarity, and conflict all ensue as a result.
Chitty Chitty Chang Bang: Okay, apologies. That title is probably a bit cringe. XD To be fair, I actually didn't come up with it. But in the event that "The Casagrandes" doesn't get renewed, maybe TLH doing a full episode focusing on arguably the most popular characters to come out of the spin-off in the Chang family would be a nice thing to see.
Karate Kicks: A spiritual successor of sorts to the spinoff's "Karate Chops". I don't know how you'd set it up, but let's be fair... who wouldn't want to see a scenario where Lola Loud and Adelaide Chang square off in a Karate match? Actually, who wouldn't want to see them just interact in general? Speaking of which...
Tea Parties, Toads, and Trouble: An event of some kind brings Carl and Adelaide to Royal Woods (or Lana and Lola to Great Lakes City), and the four of them have some interactions and potentially get into some kind of conflict. Whatever the setup is, let's face it. We just want to see these 4 mix. XD
Bella Big Bucks Strikes Back: A sequel to "Can't Lynn Em' All" where Bella gets her daughter Becky (because I don't care what any dosser says, Becky and Bella are related, just LOOK at them) to challenge Lynn to an intense wrestling match as revenge for when Lynn left Bella high and dry. Becky beats her up at first but Lynn manages to overpower and defeat her in the end. Lynn then makes up with Bella and Becky and the two girls agree to be sparring buddies.
Measuring Up: Another Casagrandes idea. Punguari visits Ronnie Anne and her family in Royal Woods, where Ronnie introduces her to Sid and her other friends. However, Sid feels a bit insecure that Punguari might replace her as Ronnie's bestie, and given that Punguari is a deity, Sid feels she just can't compete. Of course, she learns that it doesn't matter and that she's still her bestie and everything, but still, it could make for an interesting tale. After all, episodes focusing on the friendship between Ronnie and Sid sometimes resulted in the best output from "The Casagrandes" ("The Two of Clubs" is still probably my favourite from that show).
But really, most of all... THE ENTIRE B-CANON TIMELINE. Because come on!
Tell me you wouldn't want to see all THESE stories be made into official episodes: https://www.fanfiction.net13150246/Tales-of-Interest I mean, they were specifically created to be like real episodes of the show, while also actually focusing on the characters and narratives that people are interested in seeing. The B-Canon stories are the show itself, but finally perfected.
Also, I will continue to add ideas to this post in the comments section in the coming days and weeks as I continue to come up with more of them. lol
But yeah, when some people say the show is running out of ideas and there is only so much more that it could do that would actually be interesting... yeah, clearly that's not true. Also, if you want to chip in with any ideas of your own, go for it.
...
Added April the 25th:
Keyboard Warrior: An episode about internet trolling. Maybe it centers around Luan since she's an internet star of sorts. Alternatively, it could be about Lincoln or one of his friends. But whoever the protagonist is, they have to deal with the consequences (reputational and emotional) of being picked on online.
The Magician's Apprentice: Lincoln is doing a stage performance with his magic tricks, and Ronnie Anne is in town, volunteering as his assistant.
Banded: The Moongoats get an injury, barring Luna herself. As a result, she has to turn to a small group of her siblings for the next event they're scheduled for. Maybe Lynn, Lisa, Lincoln, and Leni join her, for example.
Black Hearts: Assuming Rocky hasn't returned and isn't in a relationship with Lucy at this particular point in the series, maybe there could be an episode about Lucy and Haiku both becoming infatuated with the same boy, and a conflict arises between them as a result.
Things are Peachy: The Millers return with an even grander and more devious scheme than the last to rid Michigan of all its cherries and cripple the economy. Lincoln uses his David Steele skills (and the help of his siblings) to foil them a second time.
Cast-off: Fed up with it taking forever for her broken leg to heal, Paula turns to the Mortician's Club to cast a spell to get it fixed. Now she is back to her full potential, but Lynn and the others grow jealous when she begins outperforming them at sports.
Frogs in Fashion: When a bizarre fashion trend occurs, Leni signs up Lana for a fashion show (and since Adelaide also likes frogs, maybe she could be involved, with Sid being there to help her and Lola being there to help Lana... just another way to get all these characters interacting with each other, really. XD)
Deep Heat: Royal Woods gets hit with a heatwave, and the consequences become unbearable. School gets canceled, and the Loud siblings are shown struggling to deal with it (e.g. Lynn is bummed out because it's too hot to play sports, Lola and Leni hate it because all their make-up keeps melting, Lana can't go outside and her animals are all struggling with the heat as well, etc..), could possibly make for an interesting tale focusing on the family and the town.
House of the Dragon: An episode focusing on the Loud ancestors (ghosts), as well as Angus, Lela, and Morag back in Loch Loud. It could be an interesting story that focuses on a new environment.
Lynn a Wheelchair: While Cast-off is about an athlete regaining their physical abilities, this episode would be as the name implies; Lynn suffers a horrible injury that leaves her unable to play sports for a while. This could be an interesting story and possibly one with some solid character development for her.
Martian Melee: Lisa and Zach (and possibly a few others like Todd, Rusty, or Lincoln) take a trip in one of Lisa's rocket ships to Mars, where they meet alien life. Zach's theories about aliens are finally proven correct... though these aliens don't seem too friendly.
Distasteful: In one scene from a previous episode, Lana demonstrated solid ability as a food critic. How hilarious would it be that the dirty tomboy kid, who normally likes putting worms and dirt in her mouth, became a food critic? It could be a very amusing scenario if done well.
Pure Cupidity: Why not do a third Lynn and Liam episode? Complete the trilogy. Maybe someone in Lincoln's friend group, or Lynn's friend group, or a mix of both, thinks that Lynn and Liam would be perfect together, and tries to fix them up as a couple. Not sure it would actually end up happening, but just toying around with the idea might make for a fun story. Lynn and Liam episodes usually are pretty good.
Lincoln's Friend Dates a Robot: Yes, this plot is based on the Batman Beyond episode of a similar name. Fed up with not being able to be the ladies' man that he wants to be, Rusty asks Lincoln to get his sister Lisa to help him appear to be more of a stud. Lisa builds him a really attractive-looking robotic young girlfriend, which Rusty hopes to use to show off to everyone at school and possibly make the other girls jealous. Of course, things go wrong and hi-jinks ensue. XD
Sliced: A bigger and more extended version of some of the early shorts and comic book strips that the show used to do. The siblings all eat the most delicious pizza they've ever tasted, but then there's only one slice left. Since this one would be 11 minutes long, there could be more entertaining and more extravagant ways that the siblings could one-up each other in an effort to get the last slice. Of course, it would be important for the rivalry here to not be presented in too mean-spirited a way, as you know how some fans get...
Out of Practice: When Lynn Sr and Rita go away for a romantic weekend, and Leni has too many shifts at work to cover for them, Lori agrees to return home for the weekend to look after her younger siblings. However, given how much softer and more relaxed Lori has become in recent seasons, she now struggles to control and dominate the chaotic nature of her siblings the same way she used to. Could be a nice episode that strikes a fitting balance between "No Guts, No Glori" and "The Boss Maybe".
...
And... even more ideas. XD (added on the 8th of May)
Boy Story: A story set between seasons 4 and 5, around the time Lincoln started being more interested in David Steele compared to Ace Savvy. Let's see Lisa did an experiment involving some toys (including an Ace Savvy and David Steele action figure) and a plot similar to Toy Story plays out, where the Ace Savvy toy becomes jealous that David Steele is now Lincoln's new fave.
Treehouse Tussle: When Lincoln gets the idea to build a treehouse in the backyard, some of his siblings dispute with him over who should be the one to have a treehouse.
Oh, Mother: A Rita and Luan episode. These two definitely don't feel like they've had enough interaction in the series. Even in "Undercover Mom", it felt like Rita bonded more with Luna and Leni compared to Luan. Maybe the plot could be Rita taking her daughter out somewhere and trying to get her to behave, or them trying to bond over something they discover they have in common. Who knows?
An episode where Lana has to deal with the loss of one of her pet animals: This could make for a surprisingly dark and/or emotional episode of the show (without going too far and still balancing it out with some humour, of course).
Moongoats at Midnight: Luna and the Moon Goats enter a band competition and find out that the biggest threat they're up against is... Twelve is Midnight, the band from "The Casagrandes". Also, some of the Loud House and Casagrandes could be watching in the audience, allowing for another chance where the members of the two different casts can interact with each other. Maybe this would be a bit of a stretch since it seems like 12 is Midnight is on a much higher level of status than Luna's group, but hey, the show has done things far less realistic than this, so who even cares?
These ideas just keep coming...

2024.04.19 23:38 MarcusXL George Orwell's critical essay against modern leisure culture. "Pleasure Spots".

Comment: I can only imagine Orwell's horror at the later development of technology, that not only is it driving man further from the love of nature for its own sake, but actively annihilating nature in an irreversible and fundamental way. I can easily see humanity as Orwell describes with WH Auden's poem thusly: "The lights must never go out, The music must always play, Lest we should see where we are, Lost in a haunted wood, Children afraid of the night Who have never been happy or good."

Pleasure Spots:

"Some months ago I cut out of a shiny magazine some paragraphs written by a female journalist and describing the pleasure resort of the future. She had recently been spending some time at Honolulu, where the rigours of war do not seem to have been very noticeable. However, “a transport pilot… told me that with all the inventiveness packed into this war, it was a pity someone hadn’t found out how a tired and life-hungry man could relax, rest, play poker, drink, and make love, all at once, and round the clock, and come out of it feeling good and fresh and ready for the job again.” This reminded her of an entrepreneur she had met recently who was planning a “pleasure spot which he thinks will catch on tomorrow as dog-racing and dance halls did yesterday.” The entrepreneur’s dream is described in some detail:–
His blue-prints pictured a space covering several acres, under a series of sliding roofs – for the British weather is unreliable – and with a central space spread over with an immense dance floor made of translucent plastic which can be illuminated from beneath. Around it are grouped other functional spaces, at different levels. Balcony bars and restaurants commanding high views of the city roofs, and ground-level replicas. A battery of skittle alleys. Two blue lagoons: one, periodically agitated by waves, for strong swimmers, and another, a smooth and summery pool, for playtime bathers. Sunlight lamps over the pools to simulate high summer on days when the roofs don’t slide back to disclose a hot sun in a cloudless sky. Rows of bunks on which people wearing sun-glasses and slips can lie and start a tan or deepen an existing one under a sunray lamp. Music seeping through hundreds of grills connected with a central distributing stage, where dance or symphonic orchestras play or the radio programme can be caught, amplified, and disseminated. Outside, two 1,000-car parks. One, free. The other, an open-air cinema drive-in, cars queueing to move through turnstiles, and the film thrown on a giant screen facing a row of assembled cars. Uniformed male attendants check the cars, provide free air and water, sell petrol and oil. Girls in white satin slacks take orders for buffet dishes and drinks, and bring them on trays.
Whenever one hears such phrases as “pleasure spot,” “pleasure resort,” “pleasure city,” it is difficult not to remember the often-quoted opening of Coleridge’s Kubla Khan:–
In Xanadu did Kubla Khan A stately pleasure-dome decree: Where Alph, the sacred river, ran Through caverns measureless to man Down to a sunless sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground With walls and towers were girdled round: And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills. Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree; And here were forests ancient as the hills, Enfolding sunny spots of greenery.
But it will be seen that Coleridge has got it all wrong. He strikes a false note straight off with that talk about “sacred” rivers and “measureless” caverns. In the hands of the above-mentioned entrepreneur, Kubla Khan’s project would have become something quite different. The caverns, air-conditioned, discreetly lighted and with their original rocky interior buried under layers of tastefully-coloured plastics, would be turned into a series of tea-grottos in the Moorish, Caucasian or Hawaiian styles. Alph, the sacred river, would be dammed up to make an artificially-warmed bathing pool, while the sunless sea would be illuminated from below with pink electric lights, and one would cruise over it in real Venetian gondolas each equipped with its own radio set. The forests and “spots of greenery” referred to by Coleridge would be cleaned up to make way for glass-covered tennis courts, a bandstand, a roller-skating rink and perhaps a nine-hole golf course. In short, there would be everything that a “life-hungry” man could desire.
I have no doubt that, all over the world, hundreds of pleasure resorts similar to the one described above are now being planned, and perhaps are even being built. It is unlikely that they will be finished – world events will see to that – but they represent faithfully enough the modern civilised man’s idea of pleasure. Something of the kind is already partially attained in the more magnificent dance halls, movie palaces, hotels, restaurants and luxury liners. On a pleasure cruise or in a Lyons Corner House one already gets something more than a glimpse of this future paradise. Analysed, its main characteristics are these:–
a) One is never alone. b) One never does anything for oneself. c) One is never within sight of wild vegetation or natural objects of any kind. d) Light and temperature are always artificially regulated. e) One is never out of the sound of music.
The music – and if possible it should be the same music for everybody – is the most important ingredient. Its function is to prevent thought and conversation, and to shut out any natural sound, such as the song of birds or the whistling of the wind, that might otherwise intrude. The radio is already consciously used for this purpose by innumerable people. In very many English homes the radio is literally never turned off, though it is manipulated from time to time so as to make sure that only light music will come out of it. I know people who will keep the radio playing all through a meal and at the same time continue talking just loudly enough for the voices and the music to cancel out. This is done with a definite purpose. The music prevents the conversation from becoming serious or even coherent, while the chatter of voices stops one from listening attentively to the music and thus prevents the onset of that dreaded thing, thought. For[1]
The lights must never go out. The music must always play, Lest we should see where we are, Lost in a haunted wood, Children afraid of the dark Who have never been happy or good.
It is difficult not to feel that the unconscious aim in the most typical modern pleasure resorts is a return to the womb. For there, too, one was never alone, one never saw daylight, the temperature was always regulated, one did not have to worry about work or food, and one’s thoughts, if any, were drowned by a continuous rhythmic throbbing.
When one looks at Coleridge’s very different conception of a “pleasure dome,” one sees that it revolves partly round gardens and partly round caverns, rivers, forests and mountains with “deep romantic chasms” – in short, round what is called Nature. But the whole notion of admiring Nature, and feeling a sort of religious awe in the presence of glaciers, deserts or waterfalls, is bound up with the sense of man’s littleness and weakness against the power of the universe. The moon is beautiful partly because we cannot reach it, the sea is impressive because one can never be sure of crossing it safely. Even the pleasure one takes in a flower – and this is true even of a botanist who knows all there is to be known about the flower – is dependent partly on the sense of mystery. But meanwhile man’s power over Nature is steadily increasing. With the aid of the atomic bomb we could literally move mountains: we could even, so it is said, alter the climate of the earth by melting the polar ice-caps and irrigating the Sahara. Isn’t there, therefore, something sentimental and obscurantist in preferring bird-song to swing music and in wanting to leave a few patches of wildness here and there instead of covering the whole surface of the earth with a network of Autobahnen flooded by artificial sunlight?
The question only arises because in exploring the physical universe man has made no attempt to explore himself. Much of what goes by the name of pleasure is simply an effort to destroy consciousness. If one started by asking, what is man? What are his needs? How can he best express himself? one would discover that merely having the power to avoid work and live one’s life from birth to death in electric light and to the tune of tinned music is not a reason for doing so. Man needs warmth, society, leisure, comfort and security: he also needs solitude, creative work and the sense of wonder. If he recognised this he could use the products of science and industrialism eclectically, applying always the same test: does this make me more human or less human? He would then learn that the highest happiness does not lie in relaxing, resting, playing poker, drinking and making love simultaneously. And the instinctive horror which all sensitive people feel at the progressive mechanisation of life would be seen not to be a mere sentimental archaism, but to be fully justified."\*
*Emphasis is mine.

2024.04.17 02:12 scranmandan Request: Rolodex of current golf one liners for a laugh

Hi golf addicts. I need a Rolodex of one liners for an upcoming golf game. My 3 best mates play golf religiously, and I don’t partake (don’t enjoy it no offence).
Similar to the generic football guy talk from the IT crowd, I want one liners to insert into conversation. It’s for a pisstake, but I want up to date ones so they’re shocked. I was considering wearing a QB style wristband thing 😂 but I left it too late. What you got for me!!! Thanks all.

In this blog, I will be sharing 25 of Amazon’s most loved items that have received numerous positive reviews and are frequently repurchased by customers. These products come highly recommended and have been carefully selected based on their popularity and quality. Whether you’re looking for beauty products, clothing, organizational items, or even coffee, this list has something for everyone. So, let’s dive in and explore these top-rated Amazon favorites!

Mary Ruth: A Most Loved Brand on Amazon

First and foremost, let’s talk about Mary Ruth. If you’re familiar with my videos, you’ve probably heard me mention this brand before. Mary Ruth is known for its exceptional products and has garnered thousands of positive reviews on Amazon. Personally, I’m a big fan of their products and place an order almost every month. They offer a wide range of options, but if I were to recommend just one, it would be their liquid morning multivitamin. This bestselling product replenishes your body with essential vitamins and nutrients that you may be missing from your diet. Plus, it tastes delicious and is easy to incorporate into your daily routine.
Another product I highly recommend from Mary Ruth is their liquid nighttime multimineral. Packed with minerals like selenium, copper, and magnesium, this product promotes relaxation and a restful sleep. I personally love the coconut flavor, but they offer other flavors like pineapple dream as well. If you have kids, I suggest trying their organic kids liquid multivitamin and Elderberry drops, which are both loved by children and provide immune support.

NYX Butter Gloss: A Bestselling Lip Product

Now, let’s move on to beauty products. One highly loved item on Amazon is the NYX Butter Gloss. With over 105,000 positive reviews, this lip gloss is a crowd favorite. It’s available in a wide range of shades, and the one I’m currently loving is vanilla cream pie. Despite not being a fan of pink, I find this shade perfect for the spring and summer seasons. If pink isn’t your preferred color, don’t worry, there are plenty of other options to choose from at an affordable price of just $5.

Striped Tank Top: A New Launch with Rave Reviews

If you’re in need of some new clothing pieces, I highly recommend checking out this striped tank top. Although it has recently been launched on Amazon, it has already received rave reviews. Customers love its fit, comfort, and versatility. Priced at just $14.99 (and possibly on sale), it’s a steal. The tank top comes in different colors, but I personally own it in pink and classic black and white stripes. It’s perfect for layering or wearing on its own, making it a staple piece for any wardrobe.

Levi 501 Shorts: A Summer Must-Have

When it comes to shorts, the Levi 501 shorts are an absolute favorite on Amazon. With numerous reviews and a variety of styles and colors to choose from, these shorts are a summer must-have. I recently purchased the dark denim version, and I must say, they live up to the hype. The quality and fit are fantastic, and they are reasonably priced. Whether you’re looking for distressed or non-distressed options, the Levi 501 shorts have got you covered.

Stylish and Comfortable Dresses for Spring and Summer

Now, let’s talk dresses. The first dress I want to highlight is one that I personally own and love. It was my go-to dress last year, and I wore it on various occasions, including vacations. It received so much love from customers that many continue to repurchase it in different colors. The dress is not for everyone, as it does reveal the stomach area, but it’s incredibly comfortable and versatile. I recently ordered it in a two-tone teal and green option, but there are many other colors to choose from.
Another trendy dress style for the season is tennis dresses. These dresses are not only fashionable but also practical and functional. With built-in shorts and a range of colors to choose from, they are perfect for athletic activities or running errands. You can even style them with a vintage golf sweater for a unique look. Whether you prefer a classic white tennis dress or a darker green option, both provide comfort and style.

Noow Socks: The Bestselling Brand for Your Feet

Now, let’s move on to footwear. Noow socks by the brand Wory are the number one bestselling socks on Amazon. With over 75,000 positive reviews, these socks are a hit among customers. As someone who is picky about no-show socks, I can attest to their comfort and quality. Unlike other brands, these socks are designed differently, providing a secure and comfortable fit. They come with an additional jelly grip at the back, ensuring they stay in place throughout the day. Available in packs of four or eight, these socks are a great investment.

Cushionaire Sandals: Stylish and Affordable Birkenstock Alternatives

If you’re a fan of the Birkenstock style but don’t want to break the bank, I recommend checking out the Cushionaire sandals on Amazon. These sandals are inspired by Birkenstocks and offer a similar look and comfort at a fraction of the price. Priced under $30, these sandals are a steal. I personally own them in the recommended shade, but they are available in other colors as well. They are true to size and provide excellent comfort for all-day wear.

Mighty Bluetooth Wireless Speaker: Small Size, Big Sound

If you’re in need of a portable speaker, look no further than the Small But Mighty Bluetooth Wireless Speaker. This speaker has gained popularity on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, and for good reason. Despite its compact size, it delivers impressive sound quality. It’s waterproof, making it perfect for beach trips, vacations, or even using it in the shower. With a long battery life and a travel case included, this speaker is a steal at just $20.

Korean Cleansing Oil: A Skincare Essential

For skincare enthusiasts, I recommend trying out a Korean cleansing oil. These oils are different from regular cleansers as they are applied to dry skin and work wonders in removing makeup and impurities. One particular cleansing oil that receives great reviews is the one I recently ordered. It is effective in cleansing pores and leaves the skin feeling plump and hydrated. Combining a cleansing oil with a water-based cleanser is a great skincare routine that ensures a thorough cleanse.

Anastasia Dewy Setting Spray: A Game-Changing Finishing Touch

If you’re looking for a setting spray that will give your makeup a dewy finish, I suggest trying the Anastasia Dewy Setting Spray. This setting spray has surprised me, as I’m usually not a fan of them. However, this product has received high ratings and provides a glowy finish without any actual glitter. It helps prevent your makeup from looking powdery or cakey, giving your skin a smooth and flawless appearance. After using it for a week, I can confidently say that it lives up to its reputation.

Healthy Fragrance by La Vanilla: A Natural and Pleasant Scent

If you’re on the lookout for a fragrance that is both healthy and pleasant, look no further than the Healthy Fragrance by La Vanilla. This fragrance is made with 100% pure vanilla and sugar cane alcohols, without any synthetic chemicals. Unlike traditional perfumes, which can contain hormone-disrupting ingredients, this fragrance is a safe and natural option. I personally love the vanilla scent, but there are other options available as well. It’s a great alternative for those who want to avoid the potential health risks associated with regular perfumes.

Herbal Zen Shower Steamers: A Relaxing and Aromatic Experience

For those who enjoy a relaxing shower experience, I recommend trying the Herbal Zen Shower Steamers. These hand-made shower steamers are crafted with essential oils, providing a potent and aromatic experience. Simply place one in your shower, and the steam will release the soothing scents of eucalyptus and peppermint. Customers have raved about the strong and delightful scent that fills their bathrooms. Supporting a small business and enjoying the benefits of essential oils make these shower steamers a must-try.

Organizational Items: Label Makers and Hangers

Now let’s move on to organizational items. One of the easiest ways to stay organized is by labeling bins and boxes. To simplify the process, I recommend using the label maker by Oxo. This label maker is superior to others on the market, offering a hassle-free experience. It uses heat to change the colors on the paper, eliminating the need for ink replacement. With a user-friendly app and various design options, you can create custom labels for your organizational needs.
In addition to labeling, having the right hangers can make a significant difference in organizing your closet. The hanger I recommend is a stainless steel metal spatula, also by Oxo. This spatula is thin, making it perfect for sliding under various items, such as leggings. It’s a versatile tool that helps keep your closet tidy and your clothes easily accessible.
For those struggling with lid organization, consider the lid hook that attaches to the top of your cabinet. This hook allows you to hang tumbler and water bottle lids, keeping them organized and easy to find. No more digging through cluttered cabinets to find the right lid for your drink.

Refrigerator and Oven Organizers: Convenience and Freshness

Keeping your refrigerator organized is a breeze with a lazy Susan or turntable tray. The best option, loved by many, is the turntable tray that extends towards you when turned. It allows for easy access to items and prevents any items from getting lost in the back of your fridge. This convenient organizer can also be used under the sink or in any cabinet for easy access to your cleaning products or pantry items.
To keep your refrigerator smelling fresh, consider using a refrigerator deodorizer. This deodorizer eliminates bad odors and lasts for up to 10 years. Simply place it in your fridge and forget about it. It’s a hassle-free way to maintain a pleasant smelling refrigerator.
For those who love to cook but hate cleaning up oven spills, oven liners are a game-changer. These liners are placed at the bottom of your oven, protecting it from spills and making clean-up a breeze. They are reusable, wipeable, and heat resistant up to 500°F. Say goodbye to scrubbing and hello to convenient oven maintenance.

Stainless Steel Metal Spatula: A Kitchen Essential

Now, let’s talk about a kitchen essential that I am ecstatic to have found — the stainless steel metal spatula by Oxo. This spatula is a thin and durable tool that slides easily under food, making cooking and flipping a breeze. It’s perfect for pancakes, eggs, and any delicate foods that require a gentle touch. I had been searching for this spatula for years, and finally stumbled upon it on Amazon. It’s a must-have for any cooking enthusiast.

Ring Size Adjusters: A Simple Solution for a Perfect Fit

If you have a ring that doesn’t quite fit right, consider using ring size adjusters. These adjusters are flexible silicone tubes that wrap around your ring, making it smaller and ensuring a snug fit. They are affordable and easy to use, allowing you to wear your favorite ring comfortably. Whether you need a slight adjustment or a significant size reduction, these ring size adjusters are a convenient solution.

Insect Bite Relief: Say Goodbye to Itchy Bug Bites

As bug bite season approaches, it’s essential to have a reliable solution for those itchy bites. One product that comes highly recommended is the insect bite relief device. This device uses heat to provide instant relief from bug bites. Simply place the heated circle over the bite and let it work its magic. It’s a safe and effective way to alleviate itching and discomfort, making it perfect for both kids and adults.

Closing Thoughts

These 25 Amazon favorites have proven to be loved by many customers. From trusted brands like Mary Ruth to innovative and convenient products like the label maker and shower steamers, there is something for everyone on this list. 2024.04.10 15:24 dailycaddie The Azaleas Have Bloomed (A Masters Preview)

It’s the best week of the year. A week where history is written and where legends come to life.
It’s a tradition that spans decades. 9 decades to be exact. A tradition that, time and time again, year after year, manages to produce an electricity and magic unlike any in all of sports. It’s an event that transcends mere competition—becoming a celebration of excellence and beauty.
And it all starts with the Azaleas. A flower that blooms for only a few weeks a year has left its mark on the minds and heart of every golfer around the world. From the drive in on Magnolia Lane, to the lining of Rae’s Creek and Amen Corner, they’re everywhere. Resulting in an explosion of colors—pink and green, white and yellow—that turns Augusta National into more than a golf course. It transforms into a stage for the extraordinary. Where every shot carries the weight of a thousand. Every hole offers a chance for glory. And every moment can become a memory that lasts a lifetime.
Welcome to Augusta National Golf Club, home of The Masters. Let’s tee off (and drop the formality).
With an impressive, wire-to-wire, playoff win from Akshay Bhatia this past week at the Valero Open, the 22-year-old phenom locks up his second PGA victory and first-ever major tournament spot. In a field that’s loaded with superstars, Bhatia is the perfect cherry on top. He’s had a storied early career. From being one of the youngest ever to get it done on the Korn Ferry to breaking course records on the Junior PGA, he knows what it takes to compete at the highest level. And he proved that again this past week.
The rest of the field is stacked (it’s The Masters, duh). With all top 50 suiting up, 13 LIV guys, and 18 former Masters Champions, there’s no shortage of stars and talent. But, of all the talent, the 2024 season has been the season of Scottie Scheffler. Everyone’s talking about it. And even with all the chatter, he’s locked in. Even keeled. Steady. He’s as elite as elite gets.
Scottie’s putting up numbers that only prime Tiger rivals. With 2 wins, 3 top 5s, and 2 top 10s (he’s only played 8 events this year btw), Scottie’s 2024 season is jaw-dropping. He’s leading the tour in SG:APP and ranks top 5 in SG:OTT. And with the recent breakthrough on the putting surface, he’s the unanimous favorite.
But, like I said, everyone is already talking about Scottie. That’s not why we’re here. We like writing about golf. All sides of and players involved in golf. So let’s forget about Scottie, act like he doesn’t have a shot to win it (I know, just play along), and let’s move on to some other guys to keep an eye on.
Before we talk about them. We’ve got to talk about this, though.
The Roar—the sound that the largest gathering of Patrons will make when Tiger drops his first birdie from 9 feet on the short par-4 third—is back. He’s making his first appearance since withdrawing from the Genesis back in February with the flu, at his all-time favorite course. You could see it on his face during his press conference. He’s excited, he’s confident, and we’re all just hoping his body outlasts the hilly grounds of Augusta for 72 holes. I’m not saying he’s going to win it, but, there’s definitely a non-zero chance he pulls it out. (fingers crossed).
Here’s the 5 guys The Daily Caddie has their eyes on. We were going to add more color to each of these, but, we’re tired and we work day jobs. So bullet points and one-liners are all we got for you.
The Azaleas have bloomed. Cheers to the best week of the year. We hope you enjoy it all (and get to work from home on Thursday and Friday like we are).

2024.03.25 22:59 hockeyandburritos In Defense of Mandy Moore (the Character, the Actress, and the Arc)

Mandy Moore (in the context of Entourage) tends to get a lot of hate, but I think that is misplaced and unfair. Some may cite the fact she broke Vince's heart, which is true, but Vince seduced her away from her fiance Chris in the first place, and there was no presumed guy code or second thoughts to Chris's (or Mandy's) well being before Vince initiated that campaign. It was E himself who called Vince out on his motivations, citing Vince's ego in trying to win Mandy back - more as a challenge to himself than as a genuine courtship. Even if you believe he was truly in love and doing it for the "right" reasons (I do), ultimately Vince was playing with fire, fell in love way too deep too soon (again), and we're supposed to hate the woman who went back to her fiance of several years over the infamous playboy who was - to borrow a 2024 term - love bombing her for a few weeks? Mandy may have broke Vince's heart, but she had to protect her own, and her situation was complicated. Maybe at the end of the day, she was the "bad guy" of the relationship, but she's more than just a bitch who fucked with Vince because she could. People who hate the character vociferously are applying a double standard and are incongruously angry at the one thing that doesn't go Vince's way in the entire show.
Which leads me to my next point: the Mandy Moore drama of those season 2 episodes is some of the best actual conflict in the entire show. We're not dealing with Vince being a baby, Billy Walsh being a maniac, E and Ari's egos (or Scott's) battling for best one-liner, Alan Gray holding a grudge, Dan Coakley being a pervert, or Werner and Jason Patric sandbagging Vince on 9 Brave Souls. The drama and conflict don't come from millionaires (or billionaires) who can afford to be picky little twerps about Matterhorn, Medillin, or Benji, it's a completely outside issue, an uncontrollable yet relatable one - Vince's heart - that threatens to derail the biggest movie of all time before it gets off the dock (nice Aquaman reference E, I'm glad one of you is dedicated to this fuckin' movie). This isn't Kanye swooping in to save everyone from the Van Nuys Airport, or the blackouts turning out to not really matter, or Ari really never being too far away from Vince's career even after he gets fired. This is Vince, and whether he actually can grow up, admit defeat, nurse his broken heart, and as Ari prods, "be a man," and do something he doesn't want to do because he gave his word he would. Is the end of Season 2 still a bit of a cop out? All this difficult mental anguish on Vince and then memories of Aliens changes his mind, and we don't even see that conversation with Jim Cameron? (Jim? Oh, he's Jim now, you're calling him Jim.) Yeah, it is. But it's better than movie people with move problems complaining about movie issues on a movie set in the movie world. This is real, emotional shit Vince is dealing with, and it makes for a long plotline and individual scenes that you can't look away from.
Which leads me to my third, and most important point: the Mandy Moore episodes feature some of the best acting from the entire show, especially from Adrian Grenier. Not just his rage at R.J. the ComicCon journalist bringing up the Walk to Remember Incident, or his intense blow-up with E in Malibu. We see a truly moving, vulnerable side of Grenier we never see again in the show: His thunderstruck "Wow" and dumbfounded sip of wine when Mandy breaks up with him; his raw, fragile grief when he tells the guys during "Brian's Song." It's the only time until the rushed and overdone drug plot of Season 7 where Vince is ruffled, off his game, scared, alone, and frankly, not himself.
In the background of these episodes, we also see the introduction of several prominent characters who would greatly influence the plot for the duration of the show (and Saigon, ha): Barbara Miller, Sloane, Terrence; we see Lloyd's first moments of growing closer with Ari, and we see the Brooke Shields incident with Drama (one of his funniest, cringiest gaffes), as well as his golf club rampage on PCH, and the solidifying of Drama & Turtle's friendship as the bumbling, sometimes dynamic duo.
All this is to say, that Mandy Moore, as a plot construct, deserves more respect on this sub: her drama is the most relatable and real we ever see on the show, it brings out some of the best acting of one of the show's biggest stars, and it was a complicated, somewhat villainous character played to human, vulnerable, and conflicted perfection by another very gifted actress in her own right. If you hate Mandy Moore, ask yourself why? And if you skip these episodes, you are a cunt muscle.

🔗Comfortable, Stylish Ruffle Active Dress for Women

https://preview.redd.it/2v6f0iurq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4805cbeded34bb1840ce17fd11127567e5a3195e
I wore this JoyLab Active Dress during my daily workout sessions, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for me! . The ruffles at the bottom give it a lovely feminine touch, yet the A-line silhouette beneath the waist keeps it comfortable for any activity. The soft and stretchy fabric is a breeze to move in, and the moisture-wicking feature has been a lifesaver on those hot summer days.
However, I did notice some color transfer onto my skin after wearing it a few times, so be sure to wash it separately to keep those vibrant hues intact. Overall, I absolutely adore this dress and it's become my workout wardrobe staple! .

🔗Active Dress for Workouts and Weekends

As an avid fitness enthusiast, I've always appreciated stylish yet comfortable workout gear. When I first laid eyes on the All Round Workout Dress, its striking agate-blue color immediately caught my eye. The aggravatingly soft, quick-drying fabric ensures that sweat won't cramp your style during even the most intense workout sessions.
One of the things that impresses me about this dress is its slim, body-skimming fit. It's incredibly flattering on all body types and gives a real confidence boost. The built-in U-neck and strappy cross-over back are subtle yet stylish touches that elevate this workout dress from ordinary to extraordinary.
I must admit, I was skeptical about the built-in short with a 4" inseam. But in practice, it's surprisingly comfortable and adds an extra layer of support during high-impact activities. The inbuilt bra shelf, featuring removable padded cups helps provide ample support without compromising on comfort.
On the flip side, while the material does cover a lot of surface area, the slim fit can be a bit limiting, especially if you prefer a more freely moving outfit. Also, the strappy detail might take a little getting used to, especially if you're not big on open-back tops.
All in all, if you're in the market for a trendy and functional workout dress that will keep you feeling confident and stylish during your sweat sessions, the All Round Workout Dress is worth checking out.

🔗Active Dress for Tennis and More

As an avid fitness enthusiast, I was excited to try Outdoor Voices' Exercise Dress, and it didn't disappoint! Its adaptability to various activities, from tennis to weightlifting, has made it a staple in my workout wardrobe. The LightSpeed fabric is not only comfortable but also breathable, ensuring that I stay dry and focused on my workout.
One standout feature was the adjustable straps – they allow for a customized fit that's both flattering and functional. Additionally, the built-in shorts liner with its two pockets proved to be incredibly practical, whether I'm carrying my phone or stashing some keys.
However, there's room for improvement. I found the sizing to be a bit tricky, as I usually wear a medium but needed a large to accommodate my curvier figure. And while the fabric is excellent at wicking sweat, I noticed that after multiple washes, some of its vibrant color began to fade.
Overall, Outdoor Voices' Exercise Dress is a versatile and stylish addition to any fitness wardrobe. Its adjustability and functionality make it perfect for a variety of activities, both in and out of the gym. Though there's some potential for sizing and color longevity issues, these minor drawbacks don't detract from its overall appeal.

🔗Sleeveless Active Zip-Up Dress for Women

I recently tried the HDE Women's Tennis Dress and honestly, it has been a game-changer for me. This stylish and functional workout dress blends fashion with functionality perfectly. The collar with a front zipper gives it a chic look, while the A-line skirt adds a perfect touch of femininity. I absolutely love the separate pair of shorts that come with the dress, providing the option for extra coverage or an adorable tennis look.
The fabric is made from breathable, stretchy, and moisture-wicking recycled polyester and spandex, making it ideal for low to high impact workouts, as well as running and outdoor activities. It's definitely worth mentioning that this outfit is not just limited to sports; it's super versatile and can be worn anytime, even when you're out shopping with your friends or running errands. This dress offers comfort, style, and convenience all day long!
However, despite its many benefits, one downside is that the sizing can be a bit tricky. So, make sure to choose the right size based on your bust measurement. But all in all, the HDE Women's Tennis Dress is a must-have for any active woman who values both comfort and style!

🔗Active Women's Exercise Workout Dress with Pockets

https://preview.redd.it/c9vo9dduq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f04da000dd5c376ced32e8e5e13ef4bd64c470cd
I recently purchased the Hde Womens Exercise Workout Dress with Built-In Shorts, and I must say, it has quickly become a staple in my summer wardrobe. This sleeveless athletic dress is perfect for any activity, from a leisurely walk to a vigorous tennis match. The lightweight and breathable fabric ensures that I remain comfortable and dry, even in the scorching heat.
One feature that really stands out is the built-in biker short liner. This not only provides added coverage and support but also features pockets, which come in handy when I need to carry my credit card or cell phone with me. Plus, it seamlessly transitions from a workout outfit to a casual dress, perfect for brunch or errands.
However, one con I've noticed is the fit of the dress. In my experience, it tends to run a bit small, so I would recommend sizing up for a more comfortable fit. Overall, I am extremely happy with this versatile workout dress, and I believe it is a must-have for any active woman during the summer months.

🔗Vevo Active Women's Color Blocked Athletic Dress

https://preview.redd.it/873rqe8vq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=252b92e7d7c8e5604c8ba7427bc4a312fe6a076f
I’ve been wearing the Vevo Active Women's Colorblock Athletic Dress for a while now and it's been a game-changer for my workout sessions. The vibrant colorblock design adds a pop of color to my wardrobe, making it stand out among other workout gear. The comfortable cotton and spandex blend fabric is both soft and stretchy, offering flexibility during my workouts.
One thing I really appreciate is how machine washable it is, saving me a lot of time. It does need a little more room in the laundry room due to its larger size, but that's a small inconvenience in comparison to the benefits. Overall, I'm satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to other women seeking an active dress that combines style and comfort.

🔗Women's Fine Rib Active Taupe Dress - All in Motion (XL)

https://preview.redd.it/qti45y9wq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=889fab352bb1b881c51a05b822dfe6ce22870014
Oh my goodness, I can't tell you how much I've been loving my Women's Fine Rib Active Dress lately! I've always been a fan of soft fabrics and this dress is made of the most comfortable recycled polyester. It's like wearing a cloud!
What really sold me on this dress is its stretch and moisture-wicking properties. Whether I'm running errands or jogging in the park, I never have to worry about being too hot or feeling sweaty. Plus, it dries so quickly if I do happen to get caught in a sudden downpour!
One feature that's really stood out for me is its UPF 50+ rating. Sun protection is so important to me, especially living in a hot climate, so knowing that I'm protected from the sun's rays while looking stylish is a major plus.
Now, there isn't much I don't like about this dress, but if I had to pick something, it would be that it runs a bit small. So, if you're considering picking one up, I'd recommend sizing up.
Overall, I'm absolutely thrilled with my Women's Fine Rib Active Dress and I've been wearing it non-stop. It's perfect for active days or simply lounging around the house. If you're looking for a stylish and comfortable dress that can keep up with your busy lifestyle, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

🔗Moisture-Wicking Active Dress with Drop-In Pockets

https://preview.redd.it/zeipxorwq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dba0b4c4701a769549585c941a3f9854075574e2
I recently got my hands on the Marika Jadelyn Active Dress, and I must say, it's been a game-changer for my workout sessions. This comfy blue dress with a hint of ombre is perfect for those who prefer stylish comfort during their workouts. The stretchy fabric and sleeveless design are super breathable, ensuring that you stay cool and dry even during the most intense sessions. One feature I absolutely love is the drop-in pockets - they come in handy when I need to carry my keys or even a small bottle of water.
The Marika Jadelyn Active Dress fits true to size, keeping me comfortable yet held together without any slipping or sliding. It also happens to be incredibly durable. I've been using it for my daily runs and yoga classes for weeks now, and it still looks as good as new. The only downside I could think of is that the polyester-spandex blend might not suit those with sensitive skin, but otherwise, it's spot-on in terms of quality and design.
Machine-washing and tumble-drying this dress make it incredibly easy to maintain. One point to note though, I would advise washing it separately from your other clothes due to the vibrant color. Overall, the Marika Jadelyn Active Dress is definitely worth the investment if you're seeking a stylish yet functional workout wear.

🔗K-Swiss Women's Stamina Tennis Dress - Nile, Size Large

https://preview.redd.it/e1fe0dfxq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=15733c6db06da8f63009114a508620c20f788016
As a tennis player who's always on the lookout for stylish yet comfortable attire, I was thrilled to discover the K-Swiss Women's Stamina Tennis Dress in Nile. The first time I wore it to my weekly tennis match, I instantly felt a difference. The dress is made from High-Performance Compression fabric that provides excellent support and flexibility, allowing me to move freely on the court.
One feature that really stood out to me was the moisture wicking feature. It kept me cool and dry even during intense rallies under the summer sun. The geometric ombre stripes not only look trendy but also subtly hint at the cross-court winners you can easily hit wearing this dress.
However, there's one thing I wish could be improved. The size Large I purchased was a bit tight around my bust, which became uncomfortable after hours of playing. Other than that, I'm extremely satisfied with this dress and would recommend it to anyone looking for a high-performance tennis dress that also delivers style points.

Buyer's Guide

When it comes to active dresses, there are a few key features you'll want to consider. Firstly, a good active dress should provide freedom of movement. Look for dresses that are made with stretchy materials like spandex or elastane, as well as those that are cut a bit looser for ease of motion. Additionally, consider how the dress's hemline behaves during physical activity; a shorter hem may rise up more than a longer one.

https://preview.redd.it/p92g6ut1r8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e0dfe2d6588bbd17d2e36ee6ddf2229330a3f27f

Material Considerations

The material of your active dress is also crucial. Many are made from wickable materials that draw sweat away from your body, keeping you cool and comfortable while you work out. Breathability is another important consideration - you don't want to end up feeling stuffy and hot while you're being active.

Considering Comfort and Fit

Comfort is paramount when choosing an active dress. Look for dresses with lightweight fabric and no uncomfortable seams or tags. Moreover, always check the sizing chart carefully before purchasing to ensure the best possible fit. The right fit can make all the difference in how comfortable and confident you feel during your workout.

Additional Features and Extra Pockets

Extra features can often add to the practicality and versatility of an active dress. For instance, dresses with built-in sport bras offer an added layer of support; dresses with UV protection help protect your skin from harmful sun rays. And don't forget about extra pockets - they can be incredibly useful for storing your phone or keys while you're out for a run or at the gym.

Advice for Caring For Your Active Dress

Finally, how you care for your active dress can extend its lifespan and keep it looking and feeling great for longer. Most active dresses are machine-washable, but always check the care label before throwing it in the washer. Air-dry your dress whenever possible to prevent it from shrinking or stretching out of shape.

FAQ

What are active dresses?

Active dresses are specifically designed for women seeking stylish and functional clothing that helps maintain freedom of movement while participating in various sports or daily physical activities. They are typically made of lightweight, moisture-wicking, and quick-drying fabrics that provide comfort and flexibility. Active dresses come in a variety of styles, such as form-fitting, loose-fitting, or asymmetrical, allowing women to find the perfect dress for their body type and individual preferences.

https://preview.redd.it/q61uxgwzq8qc1.jpg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45f4b82b31f0c105e5e8ff8d6b5162df61fbfdb5

What types of activities can you wear active dresses for?

Active dresses are suitable for a wide range of activities, including jogging, yoga, dance class, hiking, and even casual workouts. Some dresses are even designed with specific sports in mind, such as tennis or golf, ensuring you have the right dress for your chosen pursuit.

What features should I look for when choosing an active dress?

When selecting an active dress, consider its fabric, fit, and overall design. Choose a dress made of moisture-wicking fabric that will keep you cool and dry during your workout. Look for features such as secure zipper or side pockets, so you can store your essentials while on the go. Additionally, select a dress with a flattering fit that allows for easy movement, without compromising on comfort or functionality.

How do active dresses differ from regular dresses?

Active dresses are designed with the needs of active women in mind, offering lightweight materials that are moisture-wicking, breathable, and quick-drying. They are also more flexible and allow for greater freedom of movement, ensuring you remain comfortable and unrestricted during your workout. Unlike regular dresses, active dresses are designed with performance and functionality as crucial factors, rather than simply prioritizing fashion.

Can you wear active dresses casually?

Yes, many active dresses can be worn casually, particularly if they have a more relaxed fit and can be paired with the appropriate footwear, such as sneakers or flats. To create a more casual look, consider layering your active dress with a denim jacket or pairing it with sandals for a more relaxed and comfortable outfit choice.

How much do active dresses cost?

The price of active dresses may vary depending on several factors such as the brand, the quality of the fabric, and the range of features. Generally, active dresses can range from $30 to $100, with some higher-end and designer dresses potentially costing more. It is recommended to review available options and choose a dress that best suits your individual needs and budget.

How should I wash and care for my active dress?

It is essential to follow the washing instructions provided by the manufacturer. In general, most active dresses can be machine-washed on a gentle cycle, using cold water and a mild detergent. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these can reduce the performance of moisture-wicking materials. Additionally, allow the dress to air-dry or use the low heat setting on your dryer, as high heat can shrink or damage the fabric. By properly washing and caring for your active dress, you can ensure its longevity and performance for many future workouts and activities.

2024.03.23 08:05 whiteR69 Mk7 R hood liner

Anyone have any suggestions as to a replacement hood liner for the R? Or has anyone purchased the Vw golf hood liner from Vw for significantly cheaper than the R version and had success? I really don’t want to spend 250 on a new one to have it sag in a year or so, but the plain golf liner is much less and the diagram is the same, thus I wouldn’t mind. Running the car without one isn’t an option.

2024.03.22 05:15 -periwinkle My favorite "easter egg" of all time: Hyiannis Port ⛵ (& the queer double meaning Taylor intended)

My favorite
My biggest prediction for TTPD is that it's going to be packed full of codes and poetic double meanings. I'm especially interested in looking out for things where one "solution" to Taylor's codes seem obvious, but closer inspection reveals a deeper truth.
Which is why I wanted to take a look back on my favorite Easter Egg / secret code / Gaylor evidence of all time: Everything Has Changed = Hyiannis Port

The secret code taken directly from the Red liner notes booklet
Why I love the Hyiannis Port code so much:
  1. It's intelligent and misdirecting
  2. It's queer and completely changes the narrative
  3. It's rebellious and was probably hidden from her team

A brief history of liner note codes (i.e. Easter Eggs)

Hopefully every Taylor Swift fan knows that the OG Easter Eggs were codes hidden in the printed lyric liner note booklets that accompanied each album, starting with Debut. Taylor has said many times that she started doing this because she is proud of her lyrics and wants people to read them, so she hid extra codes in the lyrics by capitalizing certain letters.
Most of the codes for Debut and Fearless were somewhat generic, but added extra meaning to each song, such as Picture To Burn = Date Nice Boys. They were essentially summaries of the song that added a little extra pizazz.
But once people caught on, Taylor started using these to be more specific about revealing secret information about her real life or the muse of the song.
We really see this pick up with Speak Now, where there are codes like The Story of Us = CMT Music Awards. This is literally Taylor inviting everyone to zoom in on her real life and speculate about something that happened with a muse (the "us" in the song) and connect it the CMT Music Awards (a highly photographed public event).

Scans of the printed lyric booklets from Debut, Fearless, Speak Now, and Red
This also evolved into a marketing tool. With each album release, if you googled "Taylor Swift liner note codes" you would get dozens of articles from places like People Magazine talking about these codes and interpreting them. It was a way the public felt like they could participate, and it also generated clicks and intrigue. And yes, speculation about the muses of songs (Gasp!)
So by the time Red is released this was a big deal. Everyone knew that the first thing you did when a new album was released was go look at the liner notes and find the secret codes, and that would give insight into what the song was about. Which leads us to Everything Has Changed = Hyiannis Port.

Wait...Hyiannis Port? Are we sure she spelled that right?

So immediately upon ripping open your copy of Red and decoding the capital letters in the liner notes for the song Everything has Changed, what is the first thing people are going to do? Type "Hyiannis Port" into Google.
And what happens when you type Hyiannis Port into Google? It's going to auto-correct to Hyannis Port, which is the name of a town in Massachusetts.
There is an extra i in Taylor's spelling, but most people will gloss over it
And not just any town in Massachusetts, this is famously where the Kennedy family has their summer homes and where Taylor Swift paraded around in her polka-dotted preppy outfits during the summer of 2012.
Oh... and famously dated freshly-turned-18-year-old Conor Kennedy and briefly bought a house next to him — a chapter of Taylor lore many fans are eager to forget because it was deeply cringe on so many levels.

Yes, this happened. Don't worry, I'm about to make you feel much better about it!
Hold up — the code isn't "Hyannis Port" — it clearly has an extra i that was capitalized (all the other i's in the booklet are lowercase so there is no mistaking that she capitalized an extra i)
That leaves us with only 2 possible conclusions:
  1. Taylor is dumb and misspelled the town (this is the public consensus)
  2. The spelling is a red herring and there is a deeper meaning
Well, if I know one thing for certain, Taylor Swift ain't dumb. Spelling is the whole point of these codes. There's no way that i wasn't capitalized intentionally.
Let's take a closer look at this line with the extra capitalized letter:
Bingo!
Because who else was Taylor spending that summer in Hyannis Port with? Dianna Agron. (Who notably has an unusual spelling to her name that people often get wrong)
Hyiannis Port = Dianna

That's Dianna next to Ethel Kennedy driving a golf cart with Taylor on the back

"Everything Has Changed" timeline

There is a 0% chance this song has anything to do with Conor Kennedy, because Taylor didn't even meet him until July 2012.
We know that the song Everything Has Changed was written around May 15 and it was recorded with Ed Sheeran on May 28th.
I spent way too much time gathering receipts on this
Way-too-detailed EHC production timeline:
  • In Spring 2012 Tayloher team had already been recruiting Ed Sheeran for a collab (and tour opener) before they ever met personally and it seems like it was already strategically decided that he would feature on the Red album in some way
  • The very first time Taylor and Ed met was on May 15 where they wrote songs together in a hotel room in Arizona. They both tweeted about it on this day, already teasing that a collab was coming because at least that much had been decided.
  • Both Taylor and Ed have talked about the Arizona hotel room as being the first time they met, and this makes sense because Ed was opening for Snow Patrol and they played the night of May 14th in Phoenix — a short flight from LA. Taylor likely flew out just to write with him during the day of the 15th based on his tour schedule and her timeline of needing to finish the album.
  • We know Taylor was back in LA on the evening of May 15th because she was seen having dinner with Dianna (who is just always at the scene of the crime)
  • Ed came to Taylor's LA house on a different day (she talks about it in this video) and they finished writing the song that would become "Everything Has Changed" on Taylor's backyard trampoline. The media sometimes conflates these two songwriting sessions because the trampoline story is cuter, but Taylor and Ed wrote together on at least 2 different days. Ed has also said he didn't add much to the song and Taylor wrote most of it — which tracks, because it appears their friendship/collab kicked off as a strategic business arrangement and they needed to deliver a song together and this is probably just what worked out.
  • EHC was recorded on May 28th when Taylor and Ed are photographed leaving the recording studio. The location of the recording studio matches the liner notes (both say Santa Monica, which is different than other studios listed in the credits). You can also see just a sliver what appears to be Gary Lightbody (the lead singer of Snow Patrol) behind Ed, and he was also featured as a background vocalist on Everything Has Changed.
  • It seems likely that all of Red was finished being recorded by summer of 2012 which is why Taylor is free to gallivant around on sailboats in Hyannis Port and build up some PR by dating a Kennedy with convenient green eyes.
  • On her August 13th Google+ livestream announcing Red, a fan asks her about the secret codes and Taylor says: "Actually I'm working on those right now. It's pretty difficult to come up with because I know you guys are going to figure them out. And so I'm trying not to be too cryptic with it, but I'm also trying to not, you know, give it all away" and she seems nervous and buries her head in her hands. (Video link, timestamp 13:45)

Confirmation that EHC was recorded May 28, and the secret codes were written around August 13th as details like the album booklet were being finalized.

"All I know is you held the door"

We don't have space to do a full Swiftgron timeline (you can read one here) but the basics are that Taylor and Dianna likely met through mutual friend Ashley Avignone at least as far back as Fall 2011, but the first publicly-known time they hung out 1-on-1 was when they went to see the Hunger Games together in March 2012.
After this, their "friendship" ramps up significantly, and Dianna and Taylor were were seen together constantly during spring and summer 2012 (which is the focus of this post).

Dianna holding the door on the same day Taylor tweeted about working on this song
In addition to Dianna's incredible green eyes, I think it's pretty telling that Taylor included the lyric "All I know is you held the door" because once EHC was released, everyone would instantly connect it back to Taylor's May 15th tweet announcing she was working with Ed...
...and where was Taylor spotted that day? Walking out of a restaurant with Dianna holding the door for her.
Hard evidence aside, even lyrics like "everything has changed" and "I just want to know you better" are so sweet and queer to me, as a friendship is blossoming into something more. I think it's likely that Taylor had been kicking around this song inspiration for a while, and it made sense to hide it in the Ed Sheeran collab because no one would ask too many questions in a duet with male vocalist, and under the cover of a beard to be added in later.
Still, the whole thing was brave and Taylor was nervous:
Taylor explaining how she was nervous anticipating people figuring out the liner notes

Why is this my favorite easter egg?

Whenever someone asks "what's the best Gaylor proof" I usually try and stay as muse-free as possible and point them towards this list because Taylor's queerness is about her, it's not tied to any one person she dated. But when it comes to specifically talking about "easter eggs" and the legacy of this in the Taylor Swift fandom, these liner notes are about as cannon as it gets. This is old-school Taylor shit right here, and I'm obsessed.
Going back to the list I mentioned earlier, I love Hyiannis Port because:
It's intelligent and misdirecting
Taylor voluntarily chose to write this code - this isn't just a huge stretch fans came up with. It shows the depth of Taylor's cleverness. She knew that most people would think she just misspelled the town name and that the obvious answer was Conor Kennedy. But that extra i is SCREAMING to be paid attention to. Even if she was scared (like she seems in the Aug 13 video) Taylor wanted people to look deeper.
It's queer and completely changes the narrative
Believing this song is about the early days of a relationship with a beautiful 25-year-old woman that 22-year-old Taylor was documented to be having a ton of fun with and who was clearly making her very happy is a WAAAAYYYY better truth to understand than the desperate PR story of trying to make this about Conor Kennedy (poor kid). I think in hindsight everyone thinks that PR relationship was a bad idea, but it just goes to show how essential it was for the Taylor Swift brand to always have a male muse answer.
It's rebellious and was probably hidden from her team
This is the biggie for me: I think Taylor was not only being clever to trick the public, I think she entirely tricked her own management team because there is NO WAY they would have let her publicly signal to Dianna in her well-publicized liner notes that were so much a part of her marketing strategy at that point.
Rumors that Taylor and Dianna were more than friends had gone mainstream, but laughed off as a joke. Dianna was asked about rumors she was dating Taylor on Jimmy Kimmel in April 2012, and being the absolute pro she is, Dianna responded with the iconic line: "Wouldn't that be juicy? Hi Taylor."

She's an absolute legend.
So I just love the thought of Taylor being like "fuck you" and capitalizing that i and then sitting around a board room with a bunch of men being like, "yep the code is Hyannis Port" 🙄 and literally no one actually noticing until it was too late. She pulled a fast one over on them, and I love it.
Which is why I will forever be a Hyiannis Port stan.

I watched MEN AT WORK (1990)..MORE BELOW ⬇️⬇️
This is an early 90s comedy starring Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez( who also directed) as slacker garbage men who happen to find the dead body of a politician stuffed in a garbage can on their route..This movie just makes me laugh really hard..From the bicycle patrol cops who always hassle them, their rival garbage men, to the excellent supporting cast..( Dean Cameron..king of the 80s and 90s straight to video B movies is a standout!), this movies just really fun..It does have some great one liners...“ Golf clap???..Golf clap"..“ you're a stupid man..a stupid little man“ ( my personal favorite..lol)..I will say that the movie kind of loses alot of momentum in the second half as the silly toxic waste dumping plot comes together, but I still think it's a really funny movie that's worth a watch if you like Charlie Sheen, or just goofy slapstick comedy.
