2024.05.14 05:07 EJC28 Panthers 2024 Draft Analysis Compilation
Round 1, Pick 32 - Xavier Legette, WR, South Carolina: NFL: Legette, who had a terrific final season at South Carolina, is physical and a big-time vertical threat. This addition should be a big part of Bryce Young’s development in Year 2.
CBS Sports: B+. They have to get weapons for Bryce Young, so landing him makes sense. He is a player who plays physical and runs better than you think. He’s only done it for one year.
ESPN: Coach Dave Canales said it best: Legette brings versatility. The Panthers absolutely fell in love with Legette's ability to make plays all over the field, from catching passes to jet sweeps to kick returns. That versatility at a skill position is something Bryce Young didn't have last season, so this adds a unique weapon to take pressure off the second-year quarterback. He is also big (6-foot-1, 221 pounds) and fast (4.39 40), unlike any other Carolina receiver. He's a perfect fit for what Canales wants to create with the pass and run games.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Can’t believe he is about to fulfill his dream of being picked in the 2nd round.
Round 2, Pick 46 - Jonathon Brooks, RB, Texas: NFL: Had Brooks not suffered a torn ACL in November, he might have been a first-round pick. He's a shifty, speedy back who can hit the hole and go, and he should be Carolina's starter before long. I thought they might go center here, but Brooks makes sense for a team that lacked offensive juice.
CBS Sports: B-. Fun, three-down RB without much mileage on his legs. Can win between the tackle or on the perimeter and has feature back size. Elusive but not ridiculously in that regard. Fills a need but maybe a touch early. May not be 100% by September.
ESPN: As much as Canales has said he's excited about backs Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders, he obviously believed the running game needed an upgrade. You don't take a back in the second round unless you plan to use him, although Brooks may need time to fully recover from ACL surgery that caused him to miss the final three games last season. He's a playmaker who has a nose for the end zone (10 touchdowns on 187 carries last season), and general manager Dan Morgan said he was looking for guys who can score.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Mixes the milk and cereal in his mouth, one bite and drink at a time.
Round 3, Pick 72 - Trevin Wallace, LB, Kentucky: NFL: A late addition to my top 100 prospects list, Wallace is a top-tier athlete who finally seemed to find his groove last season -- on special teams but especially on defense. He's capable of covering tight ends and running backs and should impact all four downs, but Wallace is young and could use a redshirt year before he's ready to be featured on defense.
CBS Sports: C. Stocky, springy off-ball LB with speed to the football but one of the least-effective block-defeaters/avoiders I’ve scouted at the position. Not around the football much in coverage but fluid zone drops and has the athleticism to run with TEs. Very good tackler. Just unique strengths/weaknesses.
ESPN: Morgan entered the draft looking for "dawg mentality'' and he got that in Wallace. "Dawg mentality means you don't care if you go hurt somebody,'' Wallace said. "You don't go in there soft. I want you to be scared of me.'' Wallace isn't necessarily a long-term replacement for 30-year-old Shaq Thompson, but his ability to cover the field side-to-side and with speed gives him the potential to do that. Give him a year or so behind Thompson and Josey Jewell and he could prove to be a Day 2 steal.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Enjoys going to the park to make faces at little kids, making them cry.
Round 4, Pick 101 - Ja’Tavion Sanders, TE, Texas: NFL: Sanders is a fascinating athlete who remains in the developmental stage. He's not a quality blocker yet but has some untapped receiving skill. This is a worthy risk by general manager Dan Morgan and Co. as their hunt for playmakers continues.
CBS Sports: B. Big recruit who produced at Texas and is a smooth mover. Good, not amazing YAC and not a pure speed type. Minimal blocking chops. Reasonable weapon for Bryce Young but lacks burst so will have to get schemed up to get most of his catches in the NFL.
ESPN: Definitely an upgrade at a position that quarterback Young could have used some help from during his rookie season. Canales has spoken highly of Tommy Tremble, but he's not the dynamic pass-catching tight end that Sanders can become. Sanders had 99 receptions in three seasons, tops for a tight end in Texas history. He could pose problems for defenses, like Greg Olsen did during the development of quarterback Cam Newton. This was a no-brainer at this point.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Insists he can distinguish between 50 shades of beige.
Round 5, Pick 157 - Chau Smith-Wade, CB, Washington State: NFL: Smith-Wade opened eyes with a solid week at the Senior Bowl, consistently showing up around the ball and disrupting passes. His length almost certainly makes him a nickel only on defense, but there's some potential here if CSW develops.
CBS Sports: B+. Agitating CB who played outside but will have a home in the slot in the NFL. Plays more athletically than his testing. Lightning quick feet. Because of his smaller size, he tends to opt for diving tackle attempts more than wrapping up. Speed is a concern but could be masked inside. Up for any challenge.
ESPN: A definite need for depth at a position where injuries have hurt the past few years. Smith-Wade will be a backup and special teamer at best this season. He offers speed (4.54 40) and nose for the football that GM Dan Morgan wants. He's coming off a soft-tissue injury that forced him to miss the final five games and is more of a project at this point. Nickel, where he had two interceptions in the Senior Bowl, may be his future in the NFL.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Thinks being a scrum master sounds kinda cool.
Round 6, Pick 200 - Jaden Crumedy, DT, Mississippi State: NFL: Being 300-plus pounds and running a sub-5.0 40-yard dash gets you drafted. Crumedy doesn't have sterling production, but his maturity and experience should give him an edge in a fight for a roster spot in Carolina.
CBS Sports: C+. Older, very experienced interior rusher who won from multiple alignments in the SEC and has smooth athletic traits. Production never matched how fluid he is as an athlete and his hands. Needs to have a pass-rush plan more often. Has long stretches of invisibility. Plays hard every snap.
ESPN: This is totally a depth move. His ability to push the pocket is what Carolina will look for out of him in its 3-4 scheme. He likely won't be a threat to start, but he has the flexibility and size (6-4, 301) to play inside or out. Depth behind a solid starting three is key here.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Once put together a 50,000 piece puzzle. It was a picture of a cloud.
Round 7, Pick 240 - Michael Barrett, LB, Michigan: NFL: Punishing hitter in a sawed-off frame. Barrett's poor length will be tough to overcome, but his forceful play style is inspiring.
CBS Sports: C+. Has a nice blend of traits - - power, burst, coverage skill - - but not always the quickest to read where the ball is going. Quicker than fast and needs to get better beating or avoiding blockers on the way to the football.
ESPN: Barrett is undersized at 5-11, 233 pounds, but he has a nose for the football and brings a physicality to the game that makes up for his lack of size. Barrett should get a chance to contribute immediately, at least on special teams.
NFL Absolutely Not Fake News: Nursed a baby goat back to health after he hit it with a car.

2024.05.14 04:33 remidragon Ramielust Tank: A Review
Where I live the heat and humidity can be brutal, and this year spring is already cooking. So how chuffed was I when Outlier sent me a ramielust tank to test. For the last couple of weeks I’ve been wearing it into the ground. I wanted to really
test it, so I leaned into it a bit more than I generally would. At this point it’s seen eight full days of wear (and a cpl partial), has been washed five times, slept in, worked out in, dressed up (a bit), tugged on by a small child and a small-legged dog, and is still in one piece. I know this form, in this fabric, has been highly anticipated by many (myself included) - so here’s what I’ve got:
- Quick Stats:
- I’m 5’10” (or so) and I’ve generally considered my “true size” to be L for Outlier, but have been sizing up lately and enjoying it. I took an XL for a loosebreezier fit in Lilac Mist. I likely will stick with XL however I think I could definitely wear L and fit would still be solid.
- Fabric
- Ramie is a natural fiber, it’s old and it’s bast, if you’ve never encountered it before here’s a better description than I’m going to write: https://outlier.nyc/products/ramielustIn-hand
- In-hand, this batch of ramielust is weighty and smooth, with a dull shine that almost makes it look slightly metallic (ramie-lustrous). The feel of it is like cooled silk. It can be counterintuitive to pull on a heavier (200gsm) fabric to head out into the heat, but in practice the fiber is always pulling heat away from you, while the openness of the fabric welcomes any breeze right through. Along with the weight comes drape that isn’t typical of lighter and stiffer summer fabrics – in motion the sway of the fabric is elegant and special, especially with the cut of the garment (more on that later). The shine of the fabric does become milder following the first wash, but I didn’t notice any significant change after the second or third wash, it’s still got a light gleam to it.
- To be honest, I’ve been looking forward to this fabric, but I didn’t expect it to feel this nice having only ever tried the very first run of ramielust some time ago – I didn’t intend to wear it four days in a row. But I kept reaching for it in part just because I wanted to feel the fabric again.
- Fit + Form
- The only Outlier tank I’ve tried prior to this was the Push/Pull Tank. Compared to that cut (in the same size), the Ramielust Tank is a much looser format. The neckline falls lower, and the chest/body is cut wider – it’s a much easier, more leisurely feel, and the ramielust weight makes the additional fabric really drip down and around you in the most lovely way.
- The cut is open and refined. As with the push/pull tank, the straps are nice and broad, which matches nicely the width of the ramielust tank in the body; it’s substantial, loose, and breezy. When I first tried the tank on pre-wash I immediately thought it was too long, bunching around my hips, but after the first wash/dry the length felt perfect; not cropped, but flowing freely around my midsection when I moved. The fabric sort of leans against you a bit, instead of giving you a full on hug. Not prone to static, just luxurious wavy folds. I really hope this cut shows up more in the future.
- Items of Interest
- Color + Transparency
- The fabric is a bit transparent, but not too much - I have a lot of contrast between my skintone and tattoos, and I wasn’t able to easily see my tattoos through the fabric unless the light was pretty direct, and then only where the fabric was flat and close to my skin. The color is crazy, similar to the other lilacs Outlier has done, but with the added touch of the slightly metallic shine of the fabric. If you’re at all inclined toward this color (in tank or other format), you should go for it.
- Shrinkage Etc.
- I washed on delicate and dried on medium heat (despite the care instructions pleading to dry on low heat) for all five wash/dry passes. On first wash there was ~2” of shrinkage in length, and probably 0.5”-1” of shrinkage to width. The width, I think, released out a bit with wear but the cut is roomy enough that it wasn’t especially noticeable either way. The length also stretches back out a touch, mb 0.5" or so, I think it was calibrated with shrinkage in mind, as again for me the fit was better after losing length. The fabric always tightens up a touch after dry and then relaxes out quickly with wear, which has been true of prior ramielust runs. In comparison to the push/pull tank: I measured 24” across the ramielust tank after first wash/dry, and measured 20” across the push/pull tank which has taken the same wash/dry treatment. Length is similar btwn the two, with ramielust tank being about 1” shorter after wash.
- Hand Feel vs. Prior Runs
- The only other ramielust I’ve had was from the very first run, and I found it effective at dealing with heat but generally rough and a bit unfortunate in terms of texture. This ramielust is very different. I think it was described as “buttery” on live and that’s apt af. If you tried ramielust before and found it rough, you may be pleasantly surprised by how soft and welcoming this run is.
- Twist
- I mean, it exists. It’s not bad, but if you look for it, yea it’s there. If you’ve had ramielust before, it’s pretty much the same thing, either a dealbreaker for you or not. Twist has bothered me in the past but with the looseness and flow of this cut, you really have to be looking for it to notice it.
- Durability
- Not really a selling point for this fabric, but I was pleasantly surprised by how little battle damage I could find after multiple days of non-delicate wear. I found the fabric stretched out across the day a bit but with a wash/dry snapped back to regular form. I did find one small snag on the fabric, not sure where it came from (dogs).
- Pet Hair
- The secret metric for all Outlier fabrics: To what extent does it hold onto pet hair (or lint or whatever) - pleased to report that pet hair comes off of this fabric with little (relative) effort. Take the shirt off, give it a proper shake and a whip, and most of the fur will fall away.
- Random Thoughts/Scenarios
- Wearing under injex overshirts, I noticed that my skin was cooler where it was touching ramie vs. where it was touching injex
- Wearing directly under a rain shell, same thing, felt much cooler where ramielust was touching me vs. the goretex-ish material (no surprise there)
- Wearing as part of a semi-formal outfit works, I think, because of the very apparent quality of the fabric - both color and luster help give it an “elevated” look that can be pretty well dressed up, and Lilac Mist is nice against black.
- Works pretty well as a workout shirt (especially in a small, hot garage with no airflow), handles sweat great, is still soft against the skin even with moisture in the mix; I did drag it against knurling a few times and didn’t find any abrasion damage. Not a replacement for a dedicated exercise shirt and isn’t meant to be, but in a hot and humid environment it’ll do the trick.
- I did have a tiny hand, at one point, tug abruptly on a handful of the fabric, which caused an area to stretch out and bag slightly; a wash and dry snapped it back to normal
- My Feelings
- In the end, my feelings are that this form is the highest and best use for the ramielust fabric (yet). This tank makes me feel protected and unrestricted out in the heat. It keeps me comfortable, it’s easy. I have to look for reasons not to wear it, and I’m running out of them.

2024.05.14 04:19 No-Affect-5065 Does the idea of a relationship makes anyone else feel ill?
Does anyone else not see themselves in a relationship whilst looking the way they look right now? Also, If you're in a relationship with BDD, how do you do it?
I've kinda just accepted the fact that being alone outweighs the idea of allowing someone to get that close to all my flaws.
To paint a picture, I'm 22M and have dealt with this for the last decade. It's taken everything from me and I've been stunted in many aspects. A relationship and everything that comes with it is alien to me. I've never held someone's hand, let alone had anything sexual etc... So, A relationship is so out my trajectory of things I want to achieve as, I'm very comfortable being alone. Being alone gives me the space to be "ugly" and lay my flaws out bare in a dark room with no-one is watching.
Just the idea of adding someone into the mix where my vulnerabilities will be compromised makes me feel ill honestly. I can't even look at myself naked so, putting myself in a position where someone will see me in a raw state would give me a panic attack. I just couldn't put someone else through this with my headspace and BDD.
It's just so tiring to be this observatory of everything appearance related.

2024.05.14 04:02 Alternative_Art_716 Best affordable dog veterinarian
I adopted my dog (a mix of pitbull, bull terrier, and dog argentino), last June. I love him so much that I couldn't imagine my life without him. Recently, I took him out of state for traveling, which was not the first time he traveled with me. After two hours of driving, I noticed that he vomited. When we reached our destination, he was very clingy and anxious. Although he didn't eat his meals well like he used to, he managed to do okay. He cried a bit even though he was with me. His energy was so low that he even ignored his bones. This was the first time I had seen him behave like this. On our way back home, he slept a lot in the car. When we arrived, he had bloody poops with mucus. He was still sleeping and had very low energy levels.
Do you think this behavior was caused by something he ate, or did his anxiety really get to him?
"If it was something that he ate, can you recommend a good and affordable veterinarian in the area?"

2024.05.14 03:15 kay_elle_s why is Natural Cycles saying I ovulated? LH+ but no temp rise?
| I’m in my 3rd irregular cycle since getting my Mirena IUD out on Dec 5, a little over 5 months ago. Hoping to start TTC within the next 3 months, and really hoping to get my cycle more regular by then. Any and all insight very much appreciated, as I’m still learning and eager to do so! I had 2 separate Mirena IUDs over 11 years. Before that, I was on the pill for 5 years. It’s been a little over 5 months post-BC. Using Oura Ring for BBT, OPKs, and recently added Kegg to the mix. Overview of cycles since getting IUD removed: - first ovulation happened 44 days after removal, first bleed happened 59 days after removal
- cycle 1: 34 days, I was happy with that but wish it was shorter
- cycle 2: 45 days, I believe my body was gearing up to ovulate based on CM around day 21, but BBT never went up. Fertile CM came back 7-10 days later and I successfully ovulated
- cycle 3: currently on day 24, natural cycles thinks I ovulated on cycle day 19 but I really don’t see the proof of that in my BBT pictured above! Doesn’t it need to go up more? I had positive LH strips on CD 18+19 along with Eggwhite CM.
Based on this chart, is it possible I ovulated? What would it mean if I got 2 days of LH+ tests on CD 18-19, but didn’t ovulate afterwards? submitted by kay_elle_s to TFABChartStalkers [link] [comments] |

2024.05.14 02:52 Feeling-Vanilla6303 Babysitters Club dress up game
I used to play this online game when I was younger where you could dress up a character(s) from a book. I am 99% sure it was the girls from the Babysitters Club and if I remember right, you could dress up multiple of the girls at once. For some reason I’m picturing a grassy green background but I may be mixing that up with another game. It wasn’t overtly cartoonish but it definitely wasn’t like real stock photos of people. I am going crazy trying to find it, any input would be so appreciated!! Thanks in advance!

2024.05.14 02:44 FrogInShorts I witnessed the conversation in real time.
At one of my run clubs, someone is talking about their new dog. A four month old "lab mix". Said they got it four weeks ago at the shelter and that they are unsure about its quality of life before being at the shelter. Went on to talk about how they are trying to teach the dog to be calmer because it is always too full of energy, jumping on people and getting "nippy" when it gets excited. Saying that the dog seems too eager to bite stuff.
Also mention how the dog is good with 75% of dogs but its very scared of the rest.
After the conversation the guy starts to elude that maybe it's 20% pitbull but they are afraid to do a test because their complex has a dangerous breed ban. Then queue the girl he was talking to telling him to completely throw the test out the window and roll with "lab mix".
I asked to see a picture of the puppy after. Thing looked pure pitbull.

2024.05.14 02:41 amess1997 Loss of routine
I lost my sweet pitbull mix unexpectedly at age 8 couple of weeks ago, and one thing that's really hit me is the loss of her routine. She had separation anxiety and was on medications that had to be given 1-2 hours before leaving the house. I always saw it as a chore to have to plan out when I was leaving, wake up early etc. and now I want it back and have no desire to take advantage of my newfound freedom. It's also just hard as hell to not have to get up to take her out, feed her, etc.- all things that felt like a nuisance at one time or another. I don't have much of a point to this but just wanted to share with others. My apartment feels so lonely and empty without her.

2024.05.14 02:36 Accomplished_Bus_931 Picky doggy
| Hi guys! I have a question about picky eaters. My dog will only eat the raw food I make myself. So a little backstory, she's 5.5 months old Cane corso/lab mix A few weeks back we made the decision to transition her to a raw diet (with the help of nutritionist and blood work by my vet) Soon as I started feeding her raw she started refusing the kibble. She had never been picky before this. The transition happened a bit quicker than I would have liked but I didn't want her to be hungry. I ran out of my food and bought pre made raw food from my local pet store. About 10 days into the raw diet. And she ate it for the first day both breakfast and dinner, THEN started flat out refusing it. I thought I'd just stay strong and eventually she would eat it. But she didn't eat ALL day. She ate a carrot and some treats ( but I didn't want to give her too many and cause her to be even pickier) This morning I decided that I'm going to take her to the vet if she doesn't eat again. And she didn't! In a fit of desperation (I didn't have all the ingredients for her regular recipe) I made a makeshift meal with some of the stewing beef I had in the freezer and about half the other ingredients from her recipe. And she gobbled it down happily! Seeing that I decided to try her regular recipe and went to the grocery store. And she just ate that, hella excited about it too. SO I'm pretty sure I just have a picky eater and I'm hoping that I can get some tips on how to make sure it doesn't get worse. Not eating real food all day really scared the shit out of me. But I've also never had a puppy so I can't tell if my concerns are valid or if dogs just do this sometimes. I'm watching the situation super closely. I have a vet appointment end of the month and I'll ask more questions then but right now I think I just have a picky eaters? How do I make sure she doesn't get more picky? And what should I be watching for as warning signs to a potential health issues? She's full of energy, drinking water fine, being her regular crazy 5 month old doggy self. Anything I'm missing?? -Anxious dog mom (Thank you in advance) submitted by Accomplished_Bus_931 to DogAdvice [link] [comments] |

| Lucy was sleeping, tucked high into the climbing wall so I couldn’t get a good picture of her. But here is tonight’s dinner and her forage surprise in the tree. She loves hanging out up high so I’ve started putting her snake skin and forage shell in the trees. Hopefully soon a I get her a hanging hide to put moss in and some bridges. My Etsy cart is sitting there with $100+ worth of enrichment in it waiting for my big check. Tonight’s Menu: Two complete meal options (I don’t remember which ones now that I’m at work), strawberry, coconut shavings and coconut oil. And of course she always has the 24/7 mix and worm castings available. What are your babies having for dinner? 2024.05.14 01:56 Super_Nova22 Outline of my own Crash game idea
the story/universe is not meant to be in the main game series, but i imagine one of the slightly differnt dimensions seen before, though similar events to the main series have already occurred(crunch and nina's intros).
The basic structure of the game would be very similar to the original CB game, but the main difference being the levels are spread across just 2 islands, with a secondary story progressing concurrently in a time vortex, that would also need to be completed to reach the ending of the game and final boss. there would also be the inclusion of mini games.
the story would be cortex egged on into his usual undisclosed evil by uka uka, and, anticipating crashs interference, dispatches his mutants and henchman to stop them. this is all observed by catbat, who flies off to warn crash. living peacefully on wumba island, crash, coco, crunch, tawna and aku aku are accosted by catbat and, thinking them an enemy, pursue them. the first stage ends with them confronting catbat and learning the truth, just before catbat is abducted through a time portal by N tropy. the team then splits; aku aku, crash and coco going to stop cortex and crunch and tawna heading to help catbat by hunting across multiple time periods in N tropys time hub(as a homage to warped).
wumba island would host the first half of the levels and bosses, after which it would switch and continue similarly on cortex island. after wumba island is cleared, you will be able to switch over to the time vortex at any point and also play through those batch of levels.
Wumba island bosses: fake crash, ripper roo, dingodile, tiny tiger
Time vortex bosses: N tropy
Cortex island bosses: Nina, N Gin, N Brio, Cortex/Megamix, Uka Uka
there would also be fun little cameos, such as pictures of Pinstripe Potoroo, alternate tawna, N. Oxide, Pasadena O'Possum, and Velo appearing in the time vortex hub. also multiple titans from "crash of the titans" appearing as mutants caged in cortexs lab during his boss battle; spike, Shellephant, goar, snipe, stench, Scorporilla.
As for character design and personality changes
-crash would be less dumb and just come across as inarticulate and slightly crazy
-uka uka and aku aku would get slight design updates but unsure in what way
-crunch would have the look of his first few appearances, though his robotic arm would go up to his elbow. his personality would mostly be the more gruff type he originally was but with some moments of his more meatheaded later traits mixed in.
-tawna would have her main universe design but slightly more confident/aloof in personality, somewhat similar to alternate tawna.
-tiny would have his usual personality and design/proportions, but incorporate the more tiger-like traits and military camo cloths of his COTT design.
-dingodile would mostly use his "its about time" design, though slightly slimmer, have his flamethrower back and also have a crocodile dundee hat.
-N tropy is basically just the female counterpart from "its about time"
-nina would have her updated "crash: on the run" design
-in a far departure, N gin would be a full on android rather than a cyborg, but otherwise same in personality and role.
The ending of the game would also see a major change. after cortex is defeated, uka uka would tear apart cotex's lab to form a massive body for himself, including absorbing cortex too. after their apparent destruction and the games ending, n tropy and nina would arrive and seem mostly unfazed, only to be left cowering at what emerges. cortex and uka uka have been merged completely merged in body and mind; an evil mask, partially infused with technology, and in the general shape of cortexs head. they then laugh in the mad laughter of both an evil spirit and mad scientist as the other minions arrive and look on.
i get this comes across as a bit of a mishmash of stuff i like thrown together but does this seem like a decent game idea?

2024.05.14 01:55 Connect-Carpenter-52 Rescue Experience- Ugh
So I decided to get a Great Pyrenees. My local shelter is full of pitbulls and quite a few of their dogs are "star of the show only" homes desired and most never around or not good with cats. I started with a rescue. I found a breed-specific one that had Pyrs and not really mixes of pit with them either. I applied to the rescue and chose two dogs that may have potentially been a good fit. The first dog I chose was not, as he isn't good with cats. The second one the screener had to go back and check if the dog was good with cats... turns out she wasn't and has serious issues with resource guarding. On all of their listings, the dogs are always listed as good with cats, dogs, and children.
The screener then called me and said they had a new intake, who would be a good fit. After three days of asking for pictures, she never sent one but said the foster would. They never did. I felt like I was being jerked around. She did send notes but they were hard to read. She ghosted me about any further information about this phantom dog.
A red flag is that if you look at this rescue's website, they have had one adoption out of all of their available dogs in six months. The rest are still in long-term foster care.
My final decision was to go with a reputable breeder. I was given ALL information on the parents, all fees and everything about the puppies. The breeder has been keeping me updated on the puppy and her vetting, and she will be coming here on May 20th. The transporter is a former vet tech and really safe with puppies. I feel no regrets in making this decision, and don't care if anyone judges me who is a save them all nutbag.
I chose to share here because all I see out of these rescues is animal hoarding and deceptive advertising of dogs with behavioral problems. I also feel that sometimes rescues are extremely discriminatory in their questions, and don't want to actually adopt some of their animals out except for Shit Pit Snuggly who bit a handler at the shelter and yet "enjoys getting pets from his friends", "no cats or kids", "dog reactive or selective", "guards his bones with his life yet loves his toys" and other constant bullshit. I can understand now why people choose a reputable breeder or are going the way of looking harder beyond the local shelter because it's the pits there.

2024.05.14 01:55 Rinteln The results of my random Facebook Marketplace meetup
| Some guy was advertising that he had 100+ issues he wanted to get rid of from various flea market market gone to. He had no list of titles and issues so I just had to meet up in person and hope for the best. I met him at some gas station and he pulled out two boxes of random crap from his pickup. Mixed in among Funko boxes and toy lightsabers were the comics in various states of care. Loose books, bagged books, books in open, large Ziploc bags, books wrapped in saran wrap. Some books stuck together with who knows what. I took my time sorting through them and pulled out the ones in the picture and made a deal for 50 bucks for the set of them. Then I went straight home and re-bagged and re-boarded the lot. These were mostly in good condition, surprisingly. 5.0-8.5 if I had to guess. He claims he has more in some storage locker somewhere and that he’ll reach out to me again when he finds those. So who knows lol? submitted by Rinteln to comicbookcollecting [link] [comments] |
2024.05.14 01:33 phox04 Strawberry Plant Advice needed
New to the community but not exactly to gardening.
I've got some strawberry plants growing indoors and I'm not sure if they're doing too well.
Pics attached but the first berries that matured were a nice size, but all the ones coming in and maturing now seem stunted or weirdly shaped. Also some of the older leaves are dieing. New growth does look nice and green though.
More details on how I'm growing these: I put 5 individual plants in smaller containers (looking back the pots may have been too small) I had some soils left over from some other projects (coast of main, some worm castings mix, and some others) that I mixed with the original soil and a block of coco coir. Drains excellently and stays moist for 3 or 4 days. Grow tent, LED light on a timer set to 14 hours on. Temperatures are probably around mid 70s during the day and mid 60s at night (Virginia climate) Humidity has been high, but I usually open flaps or turn fan on higher to get to around 60-80% Until they started to flower they exploded in growth. I cut a few of the first flowers off all the runners (only 2 plants grew them, and no more than 2 grew on them each) Started fertilizing maybe 3 or 3 weeks ago, once per week and by what the package recommends: 1/4 tsp per gallon of water.
I planted these at the end of Februrary I think and they're nothing special (home depot stock) but I still love them and want to do right by them!
If I can provide any more pictures or answer anything I haven't covered please let me know!

2024.05.14 01:04 LeoCinco Looking for a buddy for my Shiba Inu
Introduction - Will this be your first dog? If not, what experience do you have owning/training dogs?
- I've got a 1-year-and-half neutered red male Shiba Inu and he is my first dog. I have experience in training my dog.
- Do you have a preference for rescuing a dog vs. going through a reputable breeder?
- Describe your ideal dog.
- compatible with Shiba Inu, easy to train, family friendly, no shedding, no drooling, looks scary like cane corso from a burglar perspective, queit, only bark to strangers, medium size or just a little bigger than a standard shiba, black color
- What breeds or types of dogs are you interested in and why?
- None yet still researching. I like the look of Cane Corso but I can't pick due to their size. Reading about American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaff) right now
- What sorts of things would you like to train your dog to do?
- Do you want to compete with your dog in a sport (e.g. agility, obedience, rally) or use your dog for a form of work (e.g. hunting, herding, livestock guarding)? If so, how much experience do you have with this work/sport?
Care Commitments 7) How long do you want to devote to training, playing with, or otherwise interacting with your dog each day?
- Couple walks daily for 15-30 mins each, 15-30mins fetch daily, 30mins training daily
- How long can you exercise your dog each day, on average? What sorts of exercise are you planning to give your dog regularly and does that include using a dog park?
- Couple walks daily for 15-30 mins each, 15-30mins fetch daily. No dog park. I can let them run around in the backyard daily as well
- How much regular brushing are you willing to do? Are you open to trimming hair, cleaning ears, or doing other grooming at home? If not, would you be willing to pay a professional to do it regularly?
- I can bathe and dry them once every 2 weeks, and I can pay professional for the additional tasks such as trimming hair, brushing teeth and cleaning ears.
Personal Preferences 10) What size dog are you looking for?
- Medium, a bigger than a standard shiba (16.5+ inches height, 25+ pounds)
- How much shedding, barking, and slobber can you handle?
- No shedding or drooling, queit and doesn't bark a lot besides possible burglar
- How important is being able to let your dog off-leash in an unfenced area?
- I will not let my dog off-leash in unfenced area
Dog Personality and Behavior 13) Do you want a snuggly dog or one that prefers some personal space?
- Would you prefer a dog that wants to do its own thing or one that’s more eager-to-please?
- No preference. I have a shiba that does its own thing but I think it would be nice to have another dog that is eager to please.
- How would you prefer your dog to respond to someone knocking on the door or entering your yard? How would you prefer your dog to greet strangers or visitors?
- Barking when someone is knocking or entering that they do not know. Okay with extended family member but not okay with strangers
- Are you willing to manage a dog that is aggressive to other dogs?
- I have a Shiba Inu so they must be okay with each other but aggressive to other stranger dog is okay I can manager
- Are there any other behaviors you can’t deal with or want to avoid?
- Backyard digging and destroying my lawn
Lifestyle 18) How often and how long will the dog be left alone?
- Several hours at most when I need to go out but I work from home and have cameras
- What are the dog-related preferences of other people in the house and what will be their involvement in caring for the dog?
- I will be the mainly caretaker but there is a kid in the household
- Do you have other pets or are you planning on having other pets? What breed or type of animal are they?
- I've got a 1-year-and-half red male Shiba Inu and neutered
- Will the dog be interacting with children regularly?
- Do you rent or plan to rent in the future? If applicable, what breed or weight restrictions are on your current lease?
- What city or country do you live in and are you aware of any laws banning certain breeds?
- What is the average temperature of a typical summer and winter day where you live?
- Summer up to 100, winter as low as 45. Dog will be sleep indoor 75 controlled temp all day
Additional Information and Questions 25) Please provide any additional information you feel may be relevant.
- I've got a 1-year-and-half red male Shiba Inu. He's pretty standard-sized and has all the classic Shiba traits: aloof, stubborn, smart, playful and independent
Since he's not crate trained, I've made the kitchen on our first floor his hangout spot. I can leave him there by himself for hours while I work upstairs. I keep an eye on him through a camera all day. His routine usually involves a morning walk for his bathroom break, some fetch in the afternoon to tire him out, another walk in the evening, and sometimes I let him loose in the backyard for a bit.
Now, I'm thinking of getting him a buddy so he's got someone to hang out and play with. I've been eyeing black Cane Corsos because I love their look, but I'm worried they might be too big for us.
26) Feel free to ask any questions below.
I'm looking for a dog just a tad larger than a Shiba Inu, preferably black and guard-looking like a Cane Corso, and one that can get along with my Shiba. Any breeds you'd suggest I check out and research? What about the American Staffordshire Terrier (AmStaff)?

2024.05.14 01:01 Krazykool_2002 Are poodles good for first time pet owner?
I’ve been wanting a poodle for a while now and never had my own dog before, my brother has an English bulldog/pitbull (stubborn) mix that has kind of been a family dog but he solely takes care of it. Right now, I live alone in my apartment for the most part. My apartment is very dog friendly, there is a small dog park with fake grass on my floor and there is another dog park outside my apartment building. I’m in nursing school right now and each week I will have one day that I’m gone for 10 hours and the other 2-3 school days I will be gone no more than 4-5 hours. I’m also a homebody, so on the remaining days and weekends, 9/10 I will be at home. What are some things I need to consider with a poodle? Also, are there any differences between toy, miniature, and standard?

2024.05.14 00:41 simplyme773 When is lying acceptable? White lies?
I lied but who has the right to be upset? Like no you don't look fat kind if lie
I have had a casual relationship with a woman for a few years. I admit to giving mixed signals. she has asked about why I've changed and I don't k8nd of answer. I just say nothing has changed.
She asked me to come over on a night I had plans. I told her I was going to be with my daughter. She was fine.
A few days later she called me and told me she was upset that I lied to her. That I could have said I just had plans as she doesn't care. But that simple lie made her feel disrespected.
I got mad because I don't know how she knew and was she in my business. I suspect since we aren't friends on Facebook that it was a mutual friend that she saw me in a picture but I don't know.
I told her off but said I'd talk soon and haven't bothered. I know she cares alot about me butif she truly did she would have kept her mouth shut.
So am I right Tobe pissed or is she right to feel disrespected

2024.05.14 00:14 JelllyGarcia Daybell Trial: Testimony from the Idaho supervisors of FBI CAST & ISP Forensics Lab, + Ms. Beaty on prosecution team
Anyone watching this trial?
This is loosely related, but the Daybell case is turning out to be a great source for a preview of what’s to come.
- Ms. Beaty is one of the prosecutors
- ISP Lab supervisor testimony
- FBI CAST & CSLI testimony from the supervisor in Idaho
I think there’s a decent chance the same ISP Lab Supervisor and/or FBI CAST Supervisor will be the ones to testify on this case, bc their departments are for state of Idaho & supervisors typically closely oversee processes for high-profile cases & are more equipped to testify.

FBI CAST / CSLI Supervisor - Day 22
(just ended about 45 mins ago at the time I’m posting this)
- He’s disclosed a lot but most of the info is with more abundant data to work off of.
- Google location history is the main source of the precise locations we saw pertaining to Alex Cox’s movements. > — I wonder if that means Alex Cox had a Droid (anyone know?), or if we might see something like this data come out with this case. > — being logged into Gmail gives them very precise location points, you could see Alex Cox move around Walmart based on phone location
- {For anyone interested in the Delphi case, the 100m range is explained}.
- I find it very interesting how willingly and easily the CAST team at FBI cooperated with this Daybell case, in contrast with subpoenas and the Touhey process being employed in the Kohberger case
- There are a lot of overlapping coverage zones in Idaho > (but this case is based on the opposite corner of the state, so it didn’t show the maps they use near where this investigation is based)
- he goes over AT&T drive test data
- a lot of the data presented is specific to AT&T {insights useful for Kohberger, Delphi cases} > — a lot from Verizon too.
- Random fact learned: Verizon doesn’t store location details in the data & analytics log on phones when texts are sent and received like other carriers do
Note: he’s not shown on screen & is likely using an alias.
Hot take: my guess on why they don’t have the cooperation from the FBI CAST / CSLI team on Kohberger case seems likely to be that they misrepresented or cherry-picked info, which the FBI CAST team isn’t willing to limit their statements to in testimony, & are going back & forth about providing a report limited to
that, rather than FBI just stonewalling their request for the data.
That’s ^ my wild guess, not evidenced directly, just a personal opinion on what I think is likely

ISP Lab Supervisor Ms. Dace - Day 20
- Her testimony did not help the prosecution at all IMO, but they did provide some interesting insights into their processes
- They didn’t find a single hint of Chad’s DNA on anything they tested > — despite 18 of the items being tools he owned & presumably has used…. > — They assumed ownership and that his DNA would be present (apparently neglecting to consider that someone else’s DNA being present could be exculpatory for the defendant) > huge risk from this testimony: conspiracy to commit murder +
1st degree murder —> just conspiracy} - There was essentially no unexpected or incriminating DNA anywhere (Lori’s was mixed with Tylee’s in some places but she’s already convicted so that rly makes no dif)
- She gave some insights that help to understand the super high #s given in this case. — They assume mixture but test for a unique profile among it. — {they expected DNA from soil, decomposition fluids from both victims, and ashes <-interesting}
- They got reference samples from all the main players and, using using atypical methodology, did not test for any outside contributor’s identities > — “Atypical” bc thats how they did it “for this case,” she clarified (unique instructions or circumstances apparently)
- For all cases, they only test exactly the items & places on the items that police or prosecutors instruct them to, or things they’re instructed to test by court orders
- in this case, she saw potential blood on 10 items which they only determined was consistent with blood, but didn’t test whose it was on any of them.
- Their policy is not to run consumptive testing without approval. > — And apparently didn’t seek, or weren’t granted approval, despite nothing testing positive for the defendant’s DNA
I was pretty shocked at
how much DNA they opted to
preserve rather than consume. In this case, what could they
possibly need to save it for that would be
more important than THIS investigation & trial !!!? - no one wants to clone this dude & taxpayers prob aren’t hoping for a re-do - and especially given that they don’t have even one tiny HINT of Chad’s DNA on
anything….!..?..!.? - Yikes - (no fault of Ms. Dace though; she just tests what she’s told to).
- they assume it was on tool handles since he owned them, but that also bases the choice not to confirm, on the assumption that no one else’s would be present…. we’ll see if the jury accepts that….
(For clarity: I think he obviously played a key role in the kid’s deaths & is guilty of at least conspiracy to commit murder, just now question the strength of the first degree murder charge, not his actual guilt)
- . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - *
Ms. Beaty - special prosecutor from the Kohberger case is on this trial too.
- she’s more effective on the Daybell case IMO, watching has guven me a better impression of her
- it might be just bc she has better arguments to use to lay out a clear picture, or it might be that she has a dif role in the Kohberger case > — She seems to get stuck with a lot of long-shot requests, likely bc she has a higher rank
- She seems confident, calm, & precise
Side-note: Prosecutor Wood’s performance is a lot more mild than what I expected. Pryor is coming off as more thorough and inquisitive, but both of them come off as very kind and reasonable - very courteous & cooperative with each other, too; they have a lot of sidebars, like, “Your honor, may I have a brief moment to discuss with Mr. Wood?”, and come to quick, joint-agreements or suggestions. Pryor’s been given an extremely difficult task to undertake single-handedly - facing what seems impossible. He’s missed a few key opportunities to question some things, but I think he’s matching the performance of the prosecutors thus far, from the days I watched.
- Beaty seems most harsh / stern from the bunch, but more likable than she’s come off in the Kohberger case IMO
- . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - * . - *
Anyone else watching this one?
— If not, honestly, I do not recommend. This trial is dominated by soft-spoken, slow-speakers lol.
Any other take-aways?
Or questions? (I watched more than most ppl prob have the patience for - it’s kind of like a long version of those old Clear Eyes commercials, but with lots of dead silence in between statements - so I’d be happy to answer if I can)
- anyone know whether Alex Cox had a Droid?
