School List Help - Mid GPA + high MCAT

2024.05.14 19:06 laila192 School List Help - Mid GPA + high MCAT

Hello! I just got back my MCAT and I was hoping to get help tailoring my med school list. Hoping to apply this cycle with no gap year.
Residence: Michigan (hoping to stay in state)
Background: ORM (Muslim, South Asian Female)
cGPA/MCAT: 3.64/519
LORs/PS: LORs are from two MD and two science profs should be average/above avg, and the PS is fairly basic discussing cultural competency in medicine mainly.
Shadowing: 110 hours in Oncology + 44 hours Pediatrics
Clinical: 100 hours in Phlebotomy (projected about 200 hours more)
Volunteering: 30 hours volunteering in general ward of hospital (restocking, patient surveys) + 100 hours Crisis Text Line (projected 50 hours more)
Leadership: On board of an advocacy/tutoring club, raised $3000+ for an initiative to help local community schools, about about a year and a half/70 hours
Research: Worked 300 hours in a wet lab where biological basis of neurological diseases were studied, 1 publication out of it (non first author)
Misc: involved in the campus Muslim Student Association, was heavily involved in student life/student organization logistics, was involved in secretary work at a religious academy, misc hobbies
Which schools are not worth keeping on here? Which should I add? I made this list prior to getting my MCAT back, so I'm not sure what is my best step after this. I'm hoping to mainly apply MD, is that a possibility with my stats/background?

2024.05.13 22:37 Character_Play_758 Secor road Toledo Ohio

Ordered online and got to the restaurant after 25 minutes only for them to tell me they don't start the order until I get there. Almost any other restaurant will have the order ready by the time you get there then they told me they don't have the item in stock I ordered online even though it was on the website. If it's not available take it off your website . Ended up with a regular chicken sandwich which was delicious thankfully but definitely won't be coming back. Customer service, efficiency and professionalism needs work here

Nebraska Football (@HuskerFootball) on X (walk through room)
Ohio St fan here, came to your sub to see more shit about it but saw it wasn't posted here. You guys need to know about this because its fucking bad ass and is a game changer and is going to start an arms race to building rooms like this across the nation.
Driving to work this morning and I wanted to listen to something different so I turned on a podcast. I was listening to the zach smith (yes the old ex WR coach from OSU) podcast and he brought this up ( he speaks very highly of the program and what Rhule might potentially be able to do there)
They call it a walk through room because a player can literally walk through a practice. The mental reps a player can get through this is insane . Like a mike LB can line up and have practice film of a life size offense in front of them. They can go through all their keys and what not. The room and the turf field floor allows them to move any which way so they can practice every aspect of their drops or gap responsibilities. Same with WR, they can line up and see a defense like they would on a field and they can get better at recognizing coverages and hot reads.
Smith believes this 100% shows that the program is supporting Rhule. Giving him the funding he wants and giving him support to try new things that are different. I bet you by fall camp, you see rooms like this popping up at other major programs.

2024.05.13 06:23 SuperOnion64 Current chances for next possible CEC retro stores:

Gathered them all, and choose a few of these. But here is the current list of locations that might have a chance to become a hybrid/retro store. Especially since Northridge being the only retro store was recently debunked since Namuet, New York was recently confirmed for a hybrid/retro remodel.
If I am missing any, please let me know.
It is speculated that there will be about 25 or 30 hybrid/stores.

2024.05.12 23:47 SnooCrickets2961 More LD coach only trains!

I was scrolling around and took a look at ridership for the Palmetto. This “day” train runs from NY in the morning to Savannah GA at night. And even though it’s the exact same route as the Silver Meteor, doesn’t have a diner or sleepers, it basically doubles the passenger load on the track that already exists, and because it runs an approximate opposite schedule to the Meteor, every station sees at least a train every 12 hours.
Why isn’t this done for more LD routes or segments of routes? It wouldn’t require huge investments to get new tracks up to passenger standard, but would greatly increase flexibility and choices to take the train.
The Capitol Limited is a fantastic example of a route made for a daytime Coach train. Leave Chicago around 6am (instead of 6pm) and hit South Bend, Toledo, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh in daylight, and get to DC around 9:30pm. The sleeper service is great for through trips, but a day train would help Ohio see just how great train service is when it’s an option.
It could be easily added with just a slight funding bump for Amtrak, and it qualifies as a long distance service so they don’t play with state legislatures, but legislatures and congressional delegations from the affected states would definitely provide lobbying muscle. For other routes (longer than 1500 miles) the same thing could be done with two different day running trains.
Just frequency could double Amtrak’s long distance ridership. And better yet, it could use the cars Amtrak actually has a surplus of: the horizon fleet.
More cities is great, but more service on the current network is cheaper, and possible in 3 years instead of 30. We could do both.

I combined the skylines of Toledo and Dayton, OH to see what the 8 tallest buildings were between them.
Outside of the 3 Cs, Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, I was curious what the tallest buildings were in Ohio. Turns out Toledo and Dayton were the 2 main contenders. So here I compare the two cities.

2024.05.10 01:57 SheerEvolution Reapplicant School List

I know how much everyone loves to read school lists, but as a reeaplicant I gotta what I gotta do, please bear with me. I tried last year and am still on 1 WL but have low hopes. Happy to expand on anything.
I have an extensive list right now and I would love some feedback. I was very bummed that I did not get in the first time but I've continued to work extremely hard.
Stats/Info:
Oregon Resident, graduated cum Laude with multiple Deans lists in 2022, MCAT 512, GPA 3.83. No incredible life story or other "X factors".
