2024.05.14 21:21 lacrossereference Syracuse vs Towson

This was originally published in the Mon May 13, 2024 edition of Expected Goals, my daily newsletter.
Syracuse weathered an off-day from their defense to come away with a 20-15 win over Towson. This game was all about resilience, and when it mattered most, they were able to execute and put the Tigers away.
There were a few Syracuse players whose stat line deserves special mention. Joey Spallina's offensive display was a masterclass in efficiency, with 4 goals on 8 shots, and 4 assists, all without a single turnover. His individual efficiency rating in this one was in the 90th percentile, which is a significant step up from the 60th percentile efficiency rating he brought into the game. Aside from that, John Mullen's dominance at the faceoff dot was huge for the Orange. He ended up with a 78% win rate on the day.
Defensive adjustments were the turning point for Syracuse. After allowing 6 goals on 10 possessions in the first quarter, the Orange clamped down, holding Towson to a 27.3% efficiency mark for the remainder of the game. This stark improvement was pivotal in overcoming the early deficit and stifling Towson's offensive rhythm. The driving factor was limiting the quality of Towson's shots and a better job in net. After the first quarter, Towson's shooting percentage dropped from 75% to 35%, a drop that is roughly in line with the change in efficiency.
But while they were better as the game went on, you would not say that this was a good day from the Syracuse defense. Their adjusted shooting efficiency against Towson finished at 46.5%. To put that in perspective, it was a bottom percentile mark and the 2nd highest shooting efficiency they've allowed this year. This game's defensive performance was a continuation of a worrying trend; earlier this year, their shooting defense was carrying an average shooting efficiency of 28.6%, which is in the top percentile. Including this one, over their last 4 games, they've allowed an opponent-adjusted shooting efficiency of 40.6% (22nd percentile). Their overall defensive efficiency for the game settled at 32%, a middling 41st percentile showing.
In summary, Syracuse's victory over Towson probably wouldn't have happened if they defense hadn't come back from the brink. Whatever adjustments they made, combined with the exceptional individual efforts of players like Spallina and Mullen, were enough to grind out the victory. However, the defensive concerns raised by the elevated shooting efficiency against them should be a focal point for Syracuse, as it threatens to undermine their otherwise impressive campaign.

2024.05.14 21:09 Intelligent-Pay6817 Connecting homelab to azure services for studying purposes

Hi all,
I am starting to study to take the AZ-800 Exam.
I'd like to know if anyone on here has connected their on-premise home lab environment to an Azure environment. I did this a bit when I was in school, but my question is mostly about the licensing situation.
I am planning on signing up for the Azure free trial with a Microsoft account. Can you initiate AD Sync between an Azure environment and an environment running the evaluation edition of Windows Server? If not, are you able to download a full version of the Windows server off of Azure once you are a part of the full trial?

Bug Fixes and Improvements
Stability [All Platforms]
Fixed a game crash caused by quickly and repeatedly changing the number of Drivatar AI opponents in Free Play event setup. [1717959] Fixed an issue that occurred when exiting out of pre-race in Free Play quickly after switching cars or modifying the event setup would cause a soft lock in the loading screen. [1732080] Fixed a stability issue when the player would exit to Event Menu while on track in during a Test Drive. [1751335] Fixed an issue in which disconnecting and reconnecting a controller would prevent the player from progressing to the game menu. [1734977]
PC
Improvements have been made to video memory usage on PC. Addressed an issue where the screen would flash white when players entered the My Cars menu. [1749202] Fixed an issue on Steam where you would repeatedly be shown the Self-Improvement achievement, even when you haven't unlocked it. [1738129] Fixed an issue on Steam where the Safety Star and Safety Superstar achievements would accumulate incorrect progress after a multiplayer race. [1738130] Fixed an issue where the player could not exit out of Career when hovering over event posters and pressing the right mouse button. [1717135] Fixed an issue where Exit Event messages could not be closed out using a Cancel Button (B Button/ESC Key/Right Mouse Click). [1717315] Selecting replays using the mouse no longer requires a double click. [1580893] We’ve made changes to how PC graphics settings are applied to ensure you are only prompted to restart the game when it is necessary. [1568770] Fixed an issue where the player is prompted to restart the game when only the ‘Show Framerate’ toggle has been modified. [1755225] Fixed a PC-specific issue where the game would crash when disconnecting a wheel and reconnecting with a controller in Featured Multiplayer. [1728706]
Gameplay[All Platforms]
Introduced a Tire Wear Scale option to Free Play and Private Multiplayer, allowing adjustments to the rate at which tires are worn. 1x is the default value. At 2x, tire wear will occur twice as fast. Values range from .5x to 10x. This setting is found in the Event Setup Rules tab and in the Fuel & Tire menu when on track. Migrated the Open Class Tour in Career from the Builders Cup tab to the Featured tab. The Open Class Tour will be found in the Featured tab going forward. Fixed an issue where lap times faster than 18 seconds on Eaglerock Oval in Rivals X Class Time Attack leaderboards were not being posted. Fixed the achievement “Leisure Cruise” so that it now correctly unlocks when the specified criteria to complete a single lap at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps during sunset has been met. [1681510] Adjusted the rolling start in the Builders Cup Power Tour: Iconic Muscle event so that cars no longer collide before the 3-2-1. [1717346] Fixed an issue where players not using steering assists were given control of their car at the wrong time when exiting the pit. [1717893] Fixed a bug in Private Multiplayer lobbies where player cars would appear on the track instead of in the pits when the host changes the selected track and while one or more players are in the Post Race screen. [1729190] Fixed an issue in Private Multiplayer where timed races didn’t mark laps as dirty when driving off track. [1757780] In Featured Multiplayer, Telemetry now states the correct number of Qualifying Laps before Featured Race. [1733624] Fixed an issue where every Featured Multiplayer post-race transition would only ever show Laguna Seca art as the next track. Now, the player will see the correct track loading screens when continuing from one completed Featured Multiplayer race to the next event. [1653249] Fixed an issue where the "Not Connected" UI popup would repeatedly show during sign-in even after a connection was regained. [1746586] Fixed an issue in the Settings menu where resetting all options to default values did not apply to Audio Performance. [1731587]
Multiplayer – Matchmaking and Events [All Platforms]
We’ve updated Safety Ratings in Featured Multiplayer by increasing the number of previous races the Safety Rating uses to determine your rating from 10 to 20, and by making on-track collisions more impactful to Safety Rating. Changes will take effect after your first race in Update 8. In addition, we’ve improved the matchmaking algorithm to search for a narrower range of Safety Ratings compared to your own. For example, players with an 'S' Safety Rating should no longer be matched with players who have 'E' and 'D' Safety Ratings. Groups will be connected to matches based on the player with the lowest Safety Rating. We’ve updated Featured Multiplayer events to use consistent weather conditions and avoid unpredictable weather transitions mid-race. [1750733] Removed the 2020 KTM X-Bow GT2 and the 2020 Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 from the Forza GT Series and added them to the Modern Factory Racecar Series in Featured Multiplayer. [1753741] Added the 2019 Porsche #70 Porsche Motorsport 935 to the Forza GT Series in Featured Multiplayer. Developer’s Note: We’re currently working on recategorizing Forza GT racecars into separate spec divisions and expect to push these changes into the game this summer. Corrected an issue where the 1969 Lola #6 Sunoco T70 MkIIIB was eligible for the Vintage Le Mans Prototypes Series rather than the Prototype Group Racing Series. [1731588]
Car Balancing [All Platforms]
The following cars have been rebalanced in Featured Multiplayer Spec Series: Featured Multiplayer Spec Series Car Name Change Summary Forza GT Series 2019 Ginetta G55 GT4 Engine torque: +25% Car Mass: +13.4% Front Downforce: -45% Rear Downforce: -45% Early Factory Racecar Series 1997 McLaren F1 GT Increased Power 10% Early Factory Racecar Series 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion Increased Power 13% Lowered weight/ballast 3% Early Factory Racecar Series 1989 Ferrari F40 Competizione Increased power 10% Weight decreased 2%

Reduced unnecessary braking scenarios for Drivatar AI opponents. Examples of this include braking while attempting to pass, two cars wide in corners, at the apex of corners, and on straights.
Tracks [All Platforms]
Increased the track material luminance to be more physically correct, improving the overall contrast and color saturation of the track. This affects newly released tracks as well as future track updates. Maple Valley has been refreshed with “Mobil 1 Presents Maple Valley” race day branding, which includes new track signage featuring Mobil 1. Fixed multiple pop-in zones across the entire Maple Valley track. Fixed multiple pop-in zones across the entire Mid-Ohio track. Fixed numerous areas across Mid-Ohio where textures were displayed at low resolution or stretched. Placed a barrier along the pit exit at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. To accommodate this change, leaderboards for this track have been reset. Fixed a couple zones at Brands Hatch that were missing or displaying broken skids. We’ve reset leaderboards for Le Mans track layouts following the changes made to this track in Update 7.
Cars [All Platforms]
2016 Ford Shelby GT350R: Fixed an issue where suspension couldn’t be tuned without the Drift Suspension upgrade. [1648500] 2013 McLaren P1: Fixed an issue where the aero wing wasn’t displaying its deployment animation when accelerating after braking for a turn. [1592856] 1992 Volkswagen Golf Gti 16v Mk2: Fixed an issue where the Analog speedometer did not match the telemetry. [1652263] Fixed an issue on select cars where the fog lights or reflectors would instead act as brake lights. This fix applies to the 1998 Toyota Supra RZ, 2003 Ford Focus RS and 1997 McLaren F1 GT. [1730279] [1731165]
Livery Editor[All Platforms]
Introduced a Vinyl Material tool to the Livery Editor which can be used to uniformly adjust all vinyl materials on a car from matte (non-reflective) to glossy (reflective). This includes a reset option to revert all vinyls to match car paint glossiness. Imported designs from Forza Horizon 5 using its similar feature will automatically inherit these values. When removing a livery from a vehicle, the color will now be reset to the default manufacturer color instead of the color when the player purchases it. [1731939] Adjusted the arrangement of hint buttons in Livery Editor at the bottom of the screen. [1741965] Fixed an issue in the Livery Editor where the save popup would not be shown when exiting after flipping a decal or creating a mask from a layer. [1739245] The 'Find Designs' menu is now accessible for rental cars when players try to open it from 'Design & Paint Menu' and 'Livery Mode Select' scenes. [1643182] Fixed an issue where the game was creating empty base model liveries. Forza base liveries will no longer be created and stored unless it's the current livery in use. [1551365] Added iconography to layers in the Livery Editor. The player can now see icons to indicate if it's a mask layer or a locked layer. [1370431] The background values (position, scale, color, etc.) will not change when the player is navigating through the lighting options panel. [1734187] Fixed issues when flipping the rotation of vinyls in the Livery Editor. [1728080] Fixed an issue to prevent zooming of camera if the mouse is over Livery Color Selector in all color modes (Normal, Manufacturer, Special) for consistency. [1712512] Fixed an issue in the Design & Paint menu where non-block color vinyl shapes ignored mask effects. [1630741]
Accessibility [All Platforms]
Screen Narrator now properly narrates the “Place in Car Bay” scene. [1738094] Screen Narrator will now read associated credit bonuses as part of the option value names on Free Play Advanced options which affect credits earned during the event. This change also fixes the display of the bonus percentages for all players. [1721875] Fixed intermittent failures of Screen Narrator to read the tab names in the Builders Cup Series Selection scene. [1721928] Screen Narrator now fully supports the “Series Standings” leaderboard scene accessed from the Builders Cup Event Setup scene. [1721944], [1657223] Screen Narrator now correctly reads the Driving Assists modal popup for new players during the initial races of Career mode. [1738064] Screen Narrator will now always correctly read the Data Out IP Address and Port settings in the Gameplay & HUD settings menu. [1667393] Fixed an issue with Screen Narrator reading DLC pack descriptions twice in Purchase Options menu. [1746587] Added descriptive text for the SoundCloud Driver Suit. [1708217] The Tune Setups menu is now fully narrated. [1709554]

2024.05.14 21:05 Gubesz23 Am I the only one who dispises the new visual update?

It looks so laughably simplistic, it could have been done in f*cking Microsoft Paint. Your progression bar is a damn line, like a rectangle, The new menu just looks so empty now, even the GPS, your blue tracker, the speed signs, THE NEW CLICK SOUND AHHHHH
Some people might like a change, it's quite an old UI but that was way too much too quickly, there should've been an option to toggle between the new and old look. Or I hope someone will do a mod that reverts the design back, it's gonna be the first mod that I download for the game

2024.05.14 20:56 IndependentFox3442 Please help!! Sims 3 store content won’t install

Hi all,
My sims 3 store content will not download. Every time I hit download it brings me to the launcher, which prompts me to log in. Whenever I try to log in it doesn’t work?? The password works on everything but the launcher. I tried changing the password to not include special characters as this post suggested but it still won’t let me log in on the launcher. I can log in on the EA app though just fine.
I tried all the advice on that reddit post I linked above and none of it worked for me. I know the sims 3 uses IE for the launcher (stupid!!) but my computer is new. I don’t think IE was ever even on this computer so I can’t find an option to “clear IE browsing cache” in Microsoft Edge. It’s only clearing my Microsoft Edge browsing cache, which I tried anyways but that didn’t help.
Does anyone have any advice that’s not included in the reddit post above? I just bought the changing station because I always wanted it when I was younger watching lets plays on youtube haha. Please help me heal my inner child 😢😢 I have bought loads of store content this year but this is the first issue I’m having. I might’ve messed up because I did buy it in game.
Edit: I also tried downloading from different areas such as my purchasing history on the exchange and from the three dots in the bottom left corner in game.

2024.05.14 20:38 clairegiordano About all the Postgres workstreams at Microsoft in the last 8 months

Brand new blog post, just published, that shares highlights of all the Postgres work done at Microsoft in the last 8 months, both on the open source and on the Azure Database (managed service) front. The title is: What's new with Postgres at Microsoft, 2024 edition.
It should be useful for those of you who want a sneak peek into what's coming Postgres 17, or who use some of the Postgres ecosystem tooling and extensions we contribute to (think: PgBouncer, pgcopydb, Patroni, Citus!), and of course to those of you who run your applications on Postgres managed services on Azure.
Oh and be sure to check out the Postgres community section, our virtual developer event is coming up soon in June, called POSETTE: An Event for Postgres (formerly Citus Con, now in its 3rd year!) LMK if any questions.

2024.05.14 20:17 Consistent_Bee_3251 FaceTime defaulting to Microsoft Teams

Hello. My iphone now has started defaulting FaceTime to Microsoft teams. I cannot make a FaceTime call and no one can call me on FaceTime. I have tried deleting Microsoft teams from my phone and restarting my iPhone several times, but it is still defaulting to Microsoft teams even when the app is not downloaded. I would like to keep the app on my phone because I use it for work, does anyone have a solution for this? does anyone have a solution for this? Google was not helpful.

2024.05.14 20:02 CG-07 "Torch is not able to use GPU"

These are the steps I followed to install the program
  1. Download and install Python (I am sure I have activated the add python to path option)
  2. Download and install Git
  3. Download and install stable diffusion through CMD (this is the Github link: https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui )
but when I try running webui-user.bat, I get the following error:

2024.05.14 19:38 doc415 FluentDataGrid does not update after items changed

Hey i have a Fluent datagrid :

I have a searchbox to search food

this is the button to start search:
 Search
This is the method to update datagrid by search item:
private async Task FilterMeals() { IQueryable tempMeals; if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(searchValue)) tempMeals = FilteredMeals.Where(x => x.Foods != null && x.Foods.Any(food => food.Name.ToLower().Contains(searchValue.ToLower()))); else tempMeals = meals; if (tempMeals != meals && tempMeals!=null) FilteredMeals = tempMeals; await MealGrid.RefreshDataAsync(); searchValue = null; mealFilter = "All"; }
I debugged and the linq query is working well filtering according to given food name
the problem is datagrid does not update after refreshdataasync and keeps going untill the FilterMeals() method completes and than browser shows error. I have this error in Console:

2024.05.14 19:23 tempmailgenerator Resolving Background Color Display Issues in Outlook for HTML Emails

Understanding HTML Email Design Challenges in Outlook

Email marketing is a pivotal aspect of digital communication strategies, often leveraging HTML templates to create visually appealing and engaging messages. However, designers frequently encounter challenges when ensuring these emails display correctly across different email clients, with Outlook being particularly notorious for its rendering issues. Among these, setting the background color in HTML email templates can be problematic, leading to inconsistencies that detract from the intended user experience. This hurdle stems from Outlook's use of Microsoft Word's rendering engine, which interprets HTML and CSS differently than web browsers and other email clients.
To navigate these challenges, it's essential to understand the nuances of Outlook's rendering engine and the specific CSS properties it supports. Crafting emails that look consistent across all platforms requires a blend of technical knowledge, creativity, and a keen eye for detail. This introduction aims to shed light on why background color issues occur in Outlook and provide a foundation for exploring solutions that ensure your emails look as intended, regardless of the client. With the right approach, overcoming these obstacles is not only possible but can significantly enhance the effectiveness of your email marketing campaigns.
Command/Property Description
VML (Vector Markup Language) Used to specify graphical elements in XML. Essential for Outlook background compatibility.
CSS Background Properties Standard CSS properties to define the background of HTML elements. Includes color, image, position, and repeat settings.
Conditional Comments Used to target HTML/CSS code specifically to Outlook email clients.

In-depth Analysis of Outlook's Background Color Dilemma

Email marketers and web designers often face significant challenges when creating HTML email templates that are compatible across different email clients. Outlook, in particular, has been a source of frustration due to its unique rendering engine. Unlike most email clients that use web-based rendering engines, Outlook uses the Word rendering engine, which can lead to discrepancies in how HTML and CSS are interpreted, especially concerning background colors and images. This difference means that techniques that work flawlessly in web browsers and other email clients may not work in Outlook, leading to emails that look different than intended. This inconsistency can undermine the effectiveness of email campaigns, as the visual aspect of an email plays a crucial role in engaging recipients and conveying the message.
To address these issues, developers have come up with various workarounds and best practices. One such solution involves using Vector Markup Language (VML) for defining background properties in emails intended for Outlook. VML is a Microsoft-specific XML language that allows for the inclusion of vector graphic definitions directly in HTML emails. By leveraging VML, designers can ensure that their emails display consistently in Outlook, with the intended background colors and images appearing as expected. Additionally, conditional comments are used to target Outlook clients specifically, ensuring that these VML-based styles do not affect the email’s appearance in other clients. Understanding and implementing these techniques is essential for creating engaging and visually consistent emails across all platforms, helping businesses and marketers to maintain a professional image in their email communications.

Exploring Solutions for Outlook Email Background Issues

Creating HTML emails that render consistently across various email clients is crucial for maintaining the integrity of email marketing campaigns. The disparity in email client rendering, particularly with Microsoft Outlook, poses significant challenges for designers. Outlook's reliance on the Word rendering engine, as opposed to the web-standard engines used by other email clients, results in frequent discrepancies in how CSS and HTML are interpreted. This often leads to issues like background colors not displaying as expected, which can impact the visual appeal and effectiveness of an email. Addressing these issues requires a deep understanding of both the limitations and capabilities of Outlook's rendering engine, and the development of creative solutions that ensure emails look consistent and professional across all platforms.
Adopting specific strategies, such as utilizing Vector Markup Language (VML) for backgrounds and employing conditional comments to target Outlook, can significantly improve the consistency of email presentation. These techniques allow designers to bypass some of Outlook's rendering limitations, ensuring that emails maintain their intended design. Moreover, understanding these workarounds and best practices is essential for designers and marketers aiming to create effective, engaging email campaigns. As the email marketing landscape continues to evolve, staying informed about these challenges and solutions is crucial for anyone looking to leverage email as a powerful marketing tool.

2024.05.14 19:11 ParticularCertain688 Calendar Updates not working, any tips?

Apologies if this is not the right sub. My company recently transitioned from Microsoft to Google Workspaces, which has mostly been fine. However, I'm experiencing a weird glitch that nobody else in the org seems to have.
When a meeting invite that was created in Outlook gets an update (ie new time or date) I receive an email with the calendar invite to add onto Google Calendar, but it still shows up as the old time/date. I can download the attached ICS file and open it in Outlook and it will show as the new time/date but for the life of me I cannot get that to work in Google. For now, every calendar invite I get I am opening the ICS in Outlook and checking that it matches what is in the invite in Google. For updates I've been having to reference the ICS and then manually re-create the meeting in my GCal with the information so it doesn't get missed.
Has anyone had experience with this or have any tips I could try/pass to my IT dept? They are also stumped.
