2024.05.15 15:31 ImM3llow 26 [M4F] East Coast / Anywhere. I just got diagnosed as your boyfriend. Yeah no they said it's terminal we have to stay together forever until i dieđ€·ââïž
Edit: DO NOT message me a simple hi or hello, with no information about you, Put some effort in to your message like i have, come on. Day+Attempt#189
Hello everyone, Thank you for taking the time to read, I know its long, I know - I know. But its worth the read, Trust me. I appreciate you immensely.
Here's a bit about me,
My name is Jay, I live on the East coast of the US. I'm looking for love - like everyone else on here.., but you may not believe or even be doubtful that I've never had a GF before with me being 26, but its true. I'm simply just not willing to "be with" just anyone and I'm very picky. I want us to be a match, more than just have similar things in common.
One thing I have always been told is that I'm a "Real Catch, I'd be extremely lucky to have someone like you" - WELL THEN TAKE ME. I'M FREE. LOL.
About me:
Physically -
~I'm a semi-tall guy, around 5'10.
~I'm thin but muscular.
~I have dirty blonde/ brown hair.
~Changing colored eyes.
~A voice nice enough to melt all your safeguards and get right into your heart and weak spots.
~I do not have any tattoos or piercings. Though I would like to get some eventually.
If you'd like to see a picture of me just ask and I'll show you - IF I may see you as well, I simply just don't want a picture of me out there for anyone to see.
-If there's anything else you'd like to know just ask.
Otherwise -
~I do have 3 pet bunnies I would be more than happy to show you, they are extremely cute.
~I'm a very honest and down to earth guy.
~I'm very patient and easy going.
~I'm very curious and inquisitive. I will try to ask everything I can to learn all about you haha.
~I'm Very VERY Kind & Caring, I will probably ask how you are feeling a bajillion times a day, simply out of care for you.
~I can get pretty clingy, and will always want your attention and to be talking with you. If i have someone im interested in i wont want to talk to anyone elseđ€·ââïž
~I'm very trustworthy - you can confide in me, and entrust your deepest secrets and I wont tell a soul.
~I'm a HUGE hopeless romantic, im old fashioned and will always try to impress you.
- I'm, a BIG softie even though I may look a smol bit intimidating, but I'd do just about anything to see you smile or laugh. And yes.., I do mean anything.
~I'm a big goof - I will get up to some silly shenanigans ALL the time, I will crack dumb jokes and send you memes and tik toks just to make you happy, even if its from across the room I'd wait to see your reaction lol.
~I'm extremely loyal, and would never even think of cheating.
~I will cook for you, and clean up too, even around the house, I'm very self productive and don't ask for much. Just don't forget to kiss the cook.
~I'd also love to just cuddle up and watch a movie or read a book together, anything to get us closer. Id try to take you out on dates whenever possible haha. I have a million SUPER romantic date ideas I have but have never had anyone interested enough in me to take out. Here's your chance ;)
~I will always want to share stuff I find interesting with you, and try to share every moment of every day with you. I'm not looking for someone who can only talk for a small amount of time, I want someone who's willing to put in all the effort I put into them back into me, it goes both ways. If I'm "with" someone you are my TOP priority nobody and nothing else would be. You would be the only person I'd truly want to talk to, so rest assured I would NEVER cheat, even more so because no one is interested in me - Hence why I'm here hahaha.
I'm sure there is more to me than this snippet but I cant think of more at the moment haha, so get to know me and find out more about me.
Some of my interests are: Engineering- I'm a nerd. I admit it. I love being technical and hands on, I love building things. All kinds of things, from furniture, machinery, and reverse engineering anything I find. I love learning how things work and trying to improve things.
Music - I prefer music with a very fast pace, or with some very meaningful lyrics I can relate to. I love to sing along to music and songs that have a deep meaning behind it I can sympathize with makes it all the better. Some bands I like are: Bad Omens, Beartooth, Demon Hunter, MIW, I9K - The list goes on. I'm a bit of a metalhead unfortunately.
TV Shows & Movies - I love watching shows, and I'd love to stream some shows and have some E-dates with you, to get to know you, or if you are close to me, maybe we could do it in person. Some shows I like or more of the Fantasy/Sci-Fi, Comedy, Action, stuff like: National Treasure, Halo, BattleBots, Rick and Morty, AHS, Anything Marvel or DC, The Witcher, Wednesday, The Sandman, The Magicians, The Umbrella Academy, ETC.
Gaming - Yes yes I know, Basic guy likes basic stuff. But gaming has been a thing for me since forever. I know most of you wont care or want to hear that, but I'll leave out the specifics on this part unless you are interested in that, MEGA Bonus points if you are.
Here's a lists of Cons to dating me-
~I'm not Ryan Reynolds. Disappointing, I know.
~I will fight you on what goes on pizza lol.
~I'm not rich.., Yet.
~I can't pronounce Worcestershire.
~I'm slightly forgetful, but with good reasoning.
~(Not really a con but- some might disagree) I still have ALL of my firsts, Do with that what you will c:
~I've got an endless pile of love and affection and no one to give it to! What a dilemma! Help me fix it?
Other than that I'll save the rest for a bit more of getting to know each other.
Here's a bit of what I'm looking in you:
~Preferably someone with lots of free time, and loves to chit chat. I'm seriously not interested in getting 1 message a day. Though I understand people get busy, I personally am not willing to try to learn about you and form something with 7 responses a week. Effort gets reciprocated and I appreciate the time you put in me.
~Physically: -Iâm not personally attracted to anyone whoâs âcurvy/ chubbyâ, I apologize. Not a shallow thing, I just dont have the attraction chemical in my brain for that, Iâm sorry. -If youâre shorter than me, thats a plus to me. -I love dimples, if you have those when you smile, bonus points đ - Iâm not sure what else to put.., but as for nsfw wise find outđ
~I'm a sucker for a different accent other than American, and if you have an Posh English accent you have already won my heart.
~I'm also only really looking for someone within the ages of 18-35. I don't want anyone old enough to be my mom lol.
~I'd prefer (But not a must) people NOT on the other side of the world, as other time zones SUCK. I don't expect to find anyone who also has never had a boyfriend either, but that would be a real plus. I also don't mind a LDR, but I don't want that forever. But it gives us time to get to know each other.
But as for attributes I'm looking for in you:
~Someone who is above all else very very Loyal and would never cheat.
~Someone who is Honest, and will tell me the truth over a little white lie.
~Someone who is Kind & Caring, who'd constantly check on me, and accept me for who I am & help me improve day to day.
~Someone who is trustworthy, and I can count on to keep my secrets safe, or even just help me remember things.., I do tend to be somewhat forgetful.
~Someone who is very Patient and wants to see me succeed and will help me do so, just like I would help you. Even if its small day to day things, I would appreciate your company ANY time.
~I want a partner who is Affectionate, can reciprocate, and loves to snuggle and talk about their day, and what their interests are, and what makes them happy.
~Someone who can admit they get clingy or overprotective is a bonus.
~A partner with good communication is key, if something wrong we have to be able to talk about it.
~A partner who likes to game with me or at least watch me play would be a plus but not a requirement.
~Someone with a good sense of humor and like to joke around, I am a big goof after all and I love to joke around. Sending memes is always appreciated and good to cheer people up too!
~I'd prefer someone with the same music taste, but not a requirement, Plus if you wouldn't mind if I send you love songs occasionally that's a bonus, or sending me some back haha.
~Being willing to voice call is a must, Texting forever is not the way to go. I have to know what your voice is like haha, later on we can video call if you are comfortable with that. I prefer chatting on Discord because Reddit messages of any kind I'm sure you know are unreliable and sucky in general. So please send me your discord if you have one :)
~I would LOVE to see picture of your pets if you have any. Bonus points if it includes your beautiful self haha.
I'm sure there is more I'm looking for but I cant think of it right now haha, I will have to edit this when I think of it.
Please tell me about you as an opener! I told you a good bit about me, now its your turn haha.
Tell me some things like -
~What's your name?
~Where are you from?
~How old are you?
~What are your hobbies / interests?
~What about my post interested you?
~Where is my TV Remote?!
~Selfie? Pet pics?
~Hit me with your best joke or meme :)
~What's your favorite candy?
I'd LOVE to get to know you, and see where things go.
But yeah, I know it was long I'm sorry haha. Send me a message and lets get to know each other! :)

2024.05.15 14:12 Adeptus_Gedeon Few Lovecraftian inspirations from real life and beliefs (mainly for RPG)
The article is intended primarily for Game Masters who play games in systems inspired by Lovecraftâs works, such as Call of Cthulhu or Delta Green. However, I hope that other fans of cosmic horror will also find something for themselves here. The interesting facts presented here may also be entertaining for people who do not know the work of The Loner of Providence, but some of the references may be unclear to them. The article contains several anecdotes â either from real history or from beliefs that exist in the real world, and suggestions on how they can be related to the Cthulhu mythology. So read about:
- Sea Peoples, bane of ancient civilizations,
- a forgotten Eldritch abomination from Greek mythology,
- Jan Twardowski, the first man on the Moon,
- mathematicians and physicists who wanted to know the structure of reality and lost their minds,
- one of the most mysterious characters from the Bible and a dark, occult ritual that underlies monotheism.
Invasion of the Sea Peoples Ancient, super-advanced, fallen civilizations are one of the favorite motifs of fantasy. And truth be told, something similar happened in real history. Of course, in reality, the fallen civilizations did not have sci-fi supertechnology at their disposal, but their collapse still led to great destabilization. We are talking about the invasion of the so-called Sea Peoples, which took place at the turn of the 13th and 12th centuries BC. The Sea Peoples are mobile and warlike groups of people of unknown origin. They caused the collapse of several advanced cultures, including: Mycenaean and Hittite. Only the Egyptians managed to defeat them in a great battle. Well, the material for Lovecraftian inspiration is obvious. A mysterious army, coming out of nowhere, called the âSea Peoplesâ, leading to the fall of the most powerful human civilizations at that time? Let us add that, according to some historians, the descendants of the Sea Peoples destroyed by the Egyptians were the Philistines. Yes, the same Philistines, one of whose main deities was the well-known Dagon to Lovecraftomaniacs⊠Deep Ones say hello. Let us also add that, according to Egyptian records, the tribes of the Sea Peoples had names such as Ekvesh, Teresh, Lucki, Sherden, Shekelesh, Tekel and Peleset. Sounds suitably dark, blasphemous and filthy? If we want to dig deeper, one of the pharaohs who ruled Egypt was Akhenaten â yes, that heretic who tried to replace the worship of traditional Egyptian gods with the religion of the Aten and who is very much liked by conspiracy theorists. Letâs add to the mix that Middle Eastern cultures had quite a negative attitude towards the sea as such. Babylonian Marduk had to defeat the giant monsters of Chaos â Apsu and Tiamat, personifications of fresh and salt waters, respectively. The Bible also contains traces of the myth about the fight between Yahweh and Leviathan, and the Book of Revelation, describing the new, ideal world, emphasizes that âI saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.â Letâs assume that the players are researchers of an antiquity â historians, archaeologists, etc. They conduct research on the Sea Peoples. Of course, as common sense dictates, they assume that these were human warriors. However, as time goes on, more and more evidence appears that they were not completely human again, and the evidence of their monstrosity becomes increasingly difficult to put down to the demonization that Egyptian chroniclers used against their enemies⊠It becomes clear that an onslaught of inhuman and semi-human monsters came from the sea. , trying to conquer the world of that time. Moreover, after their defeat at the hands of the Egyptians, this species did not become extinct, but instead of open conquest it switched to cautious infiltration. Perhaps the Deep Ones have spies in academia who are tasked with eliminating historians who find the trail of truthâŠ
Oh, one more interesting fact connecting the history of the Sea Peoples with Lovecraft. Well, as we know, HPL liked to use the term âCyclopeanâ for huge, monumental buildings. At least he didnât come up with it himself. Well, when the later (and at first more primitive) inhabitants, the Dorians, saw the ruins of destroyed castles left by the Mycenaean culture, they came to the conclusion that such huge buildings could not have been built by human hands, so they were probably the work of mythical giants â cyclopes.
Typhon â a classic but forgotten abomination Modern works drawing on Greek mythology usually make Hades (completely senseless) or Kronos (a little more) the Big Bad, but they forget about Zeusâs greatest enemy â Typhon. After defeating the titans and then the gigants, the Olympian gods had to face the main boss on the way to dominating the world â Typhon. Here is an example of its description: It was larger than the largest mountains, its head touched the stars. When he stretched out his hands, one reached the eastern ends of the world and the other reached the western ends. Instead of fingers, he had a hundred dragon heads. From the waist down he had a tangle of vipers (yay, tentacles!) and wings at his shoulders. His eyes were shooting out flames. In other versions of the myth, Typhon was a flying, hundred-headed dragon. In any case â appearance and stature worthy of the Great Old One. Typhon attacked Olympus, and all the gods except Zeus fled in panic. The supreme god took up the fight⊠and lost it. Only in the second duel did he manage to defeat Typhon, but not kill him â he only imprisoned him, hitting him with Etna. In the sense of a mountain. A volcano â and volcanic activity is the result of Typhonâs anger, trying to break free. Typhon equaled the lord of heaven not only in strength, but in fertility. His wife was Echidna, about whom Hesiod wrote: âShe also gave birth to another creature, invincible, huge, unlike neither men nor immortal gods, in a hollow cave â the divine violent Echidna, half a sharp-eyed young girl, with beautiful cheeks, half a huge snake, a great and powerful, spotted, cruel â in the depths of the holy land. This pair spawned many, if not most, of the monsters found in Greek mythology. Their offspring were very diverse and strange, as befits the spawn of enemies of the divine order, including: â Ladon, the hundred-headed dragon who never slept and guarded the apples that gave immortality, â Cerberus â we all know the dog guarding the gates of hell⊠but not all of us know that, according to some accounts, it had not three heads, but as many as 50, it was also covered with scales, and it had a snake by its tail⊠so what does this have to do with a dog? â Scylla â this lady inherited the most from the human, beautiful part of Echidna⊠at least initially, but eventually, as a result of various perturbations, she turned from a beautiful nymph to her siblings, becoming a six-headed sea beast, so hideous, according to Homer, that even the gods could not stand sight of her â she dwelt in a cave, from where she opened her mouth to devour the crews of ships, â Gorgons â I mean, those ladies with snake hair, not monstrous bulls. Medusa was one of them â the story that Athena turned her priestess into a monster as punishment for being raped by Poseidon is an invention of later poets, â Lernaean Hydra â a multi-headed monster with many reptilian or human heads. In place of each severed head, two others grew, and in addition, the main head was completely immortal â therefore, after chopping off the mortal heads, Heracles had to burn the stumps and bury the immortal, still hissing head underground. Hydraâs breath was poisonous. â various other creatures, such as the Sphinx, the dog Ortus, the Nemean Lion or the Chimera. Each of these descendants has the potential to be portrayed as an Eldritch abomination in its own right. To be precise â according to some accounts, the father of these creatures (and Echidna herself) was Typhon, but a monstrous, ancient (older than Poseidon) sea god, Phorcys. How to use Typhon? Well, Typhon clearly has the potential to be a Great Old One, imprisoned by⊠Nodens? Some other Elder God? Weak gods of humanity? Maybe his cult is trying to free him from Etna? What if he succeeds? What might distinguish Typhon from many other Great Old Ones? I would recommend focusing on his monster progenitor aspect â if he manages to reunite with Echidna, they will immediately start spawning various blasphemous beasts in series.
Jan Twardowski â the first man on the Moon Jan (John) Twardowski, the hero of the legend, a Polish nobleman who allegedly sold his soul to the devil and became a sorcerer. Probably a historical figure, according to legend he lived in the 16th century and became famous for summoning the spirit of the deceased queen for King Sigismund Augustus. The ghost allegedly appeared in the mirror. This mirror is still kept in the church in WÄgrĂłw. According to legend, when the terms of the pact were fulfilled, devils came to kidnap Twardowski to hell. Interestingly, instead of taking the sorcererâs soul after death, the most material demons appeared and grabbed Twardowski in order to kidnap him bodily, alive⊠and instead of heading towards the underground, which in legends is considered the traditional place of residence of demons and damned souls, they began to carry away up with him. At some point, Twardowski started singing religious songs, which caused the demons to escape, leaving him on the Moon, where he is said to have stayed ever since. Could the âdemonsâ actually be extraterrestrials? Maybe mi-go? Maybe Twardowski was their agent and obtained secret knowledge and technology from them that gave him the fame of a sorcerer? As part of his studies, did he acquire knowledge of a system of sounds (âreligious songsâ) that was able to drive away his masters when they decided that his usefulness on Earth had ended and it was time to transport him to a space base where he would be transformed into a brain in jar? Or was transportation to the Moon part of the deal from the beginning? Oh, one more interesting fact â according to legends, Twardowski used to use a rooster as a horse, which he enlarged with his magic. Itâs easy to imagine an abomination that, in the eyes of laymen, might have resembled a large rooster⊠Examples of scenario hooks: â Twardowskiâs secret mirror is still in the church in WÄgrĂłw. The local priest thinks it is just other âpaganâ superstitions, but in fact it is a tool enabling contact with cosmic beings and higher realities. It may prove useful to players if they convince the priest to give it back or simply steal it. â Players are looking for Twardowskiâs notes to gain knowledge about the âsongâ thanks to which he drove away mi-go (or other creatures that became the prototype of the âdevilsâ from the legend). The so-called Twardowskiâs âSchoolâ or âCathedralâ was located in a quarry near KrakĂłw. In fact, at the end of the 19th century, during the construction of the church of St. JĂłzef, a cave showing traces of alchemical experiments was discovered⊠And it was destroyed. But perhaps there is a second, secret laboratory under the cave that escaped destruction? And there lie Twardowskiâs secrets⊠And again, potential obstacles may be placed by the local parish priest. But not only him. Maybe Twardowskiâs legendary âroosterâ lies dormant in the laboratory and was left by the sorcerer as a guard? â players are astronauts on the Moon. However, it turns out that someone lives here, someone who was not detected by previous expeditions and probes. Will Twardowski prove to be an ally in the fight against cosmic horrors? Or maybe their agent, or an independent villain? If he survived this long on the Moon thanks to blasphemous secrets, itâs possible that he had little humanity leftâŠ

2024.05.15 12:40 purple_dragon_queen [TOMT] Help me find a song that was by aboriginal artists on Triple J around 2018-2019
This song has been stuck in my head for years and I cannot find it anywhere. It featured 3, maybe 4, aboriginal artists - they may have been in a band together but I kind of feel like it was a collaboration and one of them was rapping. It was the most obnoxiously overstimulating song but very catchy with sirens or kazoos or something like that, and the lyrics were simple and repeated throughout the song. I feel like one of the lines was something about big willy - maybe it was a persons name? It tickled my brain back then and I really enjoyed it and I canât get it out of my head.

2024.05.15 12:34 Lost-Waver In-depth analysis + Stems
Hello, I spent some time analyzing the audio and overall song production, and here are some of my conclusions:
Remastered audio for tracking time-stamps:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X63YuRSS_AM Key & Tempo: 110.3 BPM, C / Amin
Origin of recording: Judging by the waveform, overall dynamics, huge compression, static noise, and mid-range distortion, my first guess would be that the snippet comes from a radio recording.
However, since we can hear a splash & water sound effect at
0:13, it could definitely come from a movie or TV show, so it could be a TV or VHS recording. Also, the audio has been cut at
1:05, affecting the transient of the kick-drum and the background synth chords (meaning itâs not natural). This is typically done in video production (movies, tv show, ads, etc) so the track can fit in a specific time range, adding up to the movie/TV show theory. Also, the recording has a DC Offset, which is more common in VHS recordings (due to the presence of the video channel) rather than FM or audio tapes recordings. However the audio dynamics seem pretty strange for a VHS recording.
Audio edits: Itâs pretty weird that the audio doesnât start at the very beginning of the file, if it was actually captured from a tape it wouldnât be like that. That means the audio has been deliberately edited and cut from a longer recording.
Instruments used: Synthesizers, an Electric guitar can be heard at
0:48 (mostly in the isolated instrumental), a Slap bass probably from a synthesizer heard at
1:11, a Bass guitar that comes in at 0:05, and a drum machine (wouldnât know which one though). I think the Bass synth comes from a different synthesizer than all the other sounds, perhaps a Moog or a Roland Juno.
Synths used: I must say that Iâm not a synth expert, Iâm more into sound engineering and music production overall, but I do know a bunch of them. For instance, I know the very first « brass » patch we hear at
0:00, but I canât remember which synth has it. Itâs also used in RAH bandâs song « Clouds Across The Moon » (1:47
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3waMGm69gvY)
At
0:06 and
0:50 (and throughout various parts of the song) we can hear a sound preset that sounds very close to WHAM! « A Ray of Sunshine » pluck
It can be heard clearly in the intro of the instrumental remix:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiPpoVbjgVI Another live recording:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYbVqL63j0g This sound comes from a PPG Wave 2.2 synthesizer (1982â1984), however, it may have been replicated in other synths such as the
Yamaha DX7,
Roland D-50, or even
Korg M1. In this song, I suspect it to be the « MARIMBA » preset from Yamaha DX7 but Iâm not 100% sure. After messing around with some DX7 emulations, I can confirm that the MARIMBA from DX7 Rom-3A sounds very close to this pluck.
During the bridges at
0:22 and
1:05, we can hear various sounds, one which could be VIBE 1 from the Yamaha DX7 (10:48
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3rrjQtQe5A), and the other « Rhodes-sounding » one could be E-PIANO 1 from the DX7 aswell (5:11
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3rrjQtQe5A). But these sounds were so common back then, they could come from pretty much any synthesizer.
I still think about the
Roland D-50 which was very popular (released in 1987), and had a great sound quality. Most of the synths used in this song are of very good quality too.
Time period: Judging by the sounds used, the drum machine and pretty consistent tempo (thatâs pretty rare for tracks of that era), itâs safe to say that the song is from the end of 80s, if not the early 90s. The original poster stated it could be from 87-88, and I think thatâs sa good guess. It would also match the Roland D-50 release date.
Lyrics: I think we all figured the lyrics except for one particular line, the first line sang by the girl in the chorus. At first, I thought she was saying "Want you, You're Amazing", but i now realize this might be wrong. After many listens, now I keep hearing "Want You, To (???)" or "Won't You, Do a (???)". I have a feeling that this particular line might be the key to the real title of this song.
Potential Title: I doubt the track name is « Donât stop what youâre doing » since this line is only said once in a verse. It would make more sense if the track was named after a chorus line, like:
- I think Iâm in love
- Iâm in love
- Youâre Amazing (or whatever the girl's singing)
- You Amaze me (a variation of the girl's line)
Since the track theme revolves around beach, water and summer stuff, it would make sense to look for albums/LP/EPs that are summer-themed, especially on the cover-artwork. Also, I doubt that this would be a single, I could be wrong though. We should definitely look for movies or TV Shows too, even erotic films (maybe not p*rn though, but you never know...) that revolve around beach, swimming pools, hotels & vacations, etc..
Stems: I used an AI to split the Vocals and Instrumental, here are some links:
I hope this will be useful ! Let me know what you think

2024.05.15 10:25 Ivebeenlostbefore 27 [M4F] #Online, GMT+3- Instead of a wall of text you won't read I made an album you can listen to.
Hello everyone, and yes, you've got it right. I penned down some lyrics, infused them with genre prompts, and crafted them into a song with the power of an AI overlord. If the essence of that song catches your interest, reach out, and we can chat further from there. I've opted for this approach because I've noticed a tendency for people to skim over text and miss important details, leading to wasted time .
So perhaps this song with different genres would convey the message more effectively?

I feel headachey and tired today but my mood feels better than yesterday so thatâs good!
We were in the middle of a conversation last night, he had me utterly soaked and losing my mind and then it went silent and I couldnât hear him and when I tell you the timing could not have been worse I am not kidding. Except it turns out he could still hear me, which I felt embarrassed about later because I was basically being a little whimpering mess because I assumed he couldnât hear anything either like he normally canât. So anyway now he must know heâs baby because I was saying things like baby come back and where are you like an absolute idiot. I think my brain cells lessen even more so when Iâm in that frame of mind. Wait and so that means heâd already cum and was over the whole thing and I didnât know and I kept going, and he kept like⊠encouraging it with the dirty stuff he was saying. Thatâs kind of embarrassing that he was just sat there twiddling his thumbs and there I was sounding so stupid. Heâs so sweet.
Iâve decided the middle-ish bit of the miss murder song sounds like Jeff Buckley for a little bit, not the voice but the music bit. Only briefly. Anyway my poppunky phase has still returned, I feel 14 again listening to the used and stuff, what a time. Iâve only saved the main big ones to this new playlist though, I know Iâm forgetting a bunch of not top 40 kinda ones but whatever these are scratch my lil itch. Iâm also just having a lil nostalgic phase with that playlist - itâs wild how much my music taste has changed⊠but also stayed the same? I loved the klaxons back then, Iâm listening to them again and I still like them, and Iâm remembering lyrics when I forgot said song even existed. Maybe thatâs why I remember nothing from school, because my head is filled with useless lyrics. Good one, brain. Or Simian Mobile Disco? Entirely forgot they existed. I never forgot about the yeah yeah yeahs though, I have succcchhhhhhhh a vivid memory of listening to them while walking around some suburb in Brisbane while we were visiting my aunty and uncle, I think I was 14 or 15, and I was wearing a white tshirt because I remember it started pouring down and it went see through and I felt super embarrassed. But it was night time, or like after dinner time, and I was just going on a stroll cause idk I was a teenager and probably wanted some space to be my angsty self. I remember my uncle had a movie room, not really but he called it that, and it had bean bags and stuff and he had all the HP movies, or at least whatever was out by then. And now Iâm day dreaming about how I was a couple cities away from my honey, except whatâs the bet he would take one look at 14/15 year old me when he was like 18/19 and be like ew get away from me you little creep. Anyway. Le Tigre were big for me. Xray spex too, the intro to oh bondage up yours still to this day haunts my mind. I listened to that germ free adolescent album a lot at one stage. Iâve just listened to a bunch of it now and I still like it a lot. I have to say the more my mood has dropped and my anxiety increased over the years the more subdued music I listen to, I wonder if itâs connected? Because I used to listen to a lot of⊠busy music, letâs say. Whereas now it stresses me out sometimes, and I wonder if itâs because thereâs too much at once and that doesnât mesh well with an already hectic head. Omg and MGMT, I had a biggggggg phase of them. I genuinely wanted to marry the curly haired one, I thought everything about him was so dreamy. I want to say his name is Andrew from memory, lucky me getting an even better Andrew! Itâs weird to think of Andy as an Andrew, I mean ultimately heâs honeybunny or baby but heâs also Andy. And his friends donât even call him that? Iâm obviously not writing what that name is here. I think itâs so so cute that his friends kid calls him that too, or tries to. Anyway heâs just baby. I think I say the same stuff in these journals all the time.
I feel a lot of relief knowing I have no more things on til July. Iâm proud of myself though, it was technically homework for therapy - to do things that make me happy. Outside of the house, around people I mean. And so she asked what I would do if I was ânormalâ and one of them was go to things like the ballet and plays, things I miss out on because Iâm too scared. So we agreed I would go to a couple and I did!! Homework: achieved. She was really proud of me when I said the events I had coming up, I know that sounds so pathetic and stupid but Iâm definitely someone that needs to hear that praise and stuff. I can get by without it, but itâs encouraging to hear it, yâknow? Idk.
Work is annoying me.
I donât get why the idea of his friend doesnât make him jealous. I donât want it to make him jealous, I donât want any form of negativity around it, but why doesnât it? Am I built that differently to him? If he even floated the idea of that to me vice versa I donât think I would ever recover. I mean thatâs dramatic and I would but I would be paranoid about it for a looooooong time. But so why doesnât he care? It feels like I care more about it than he does, it feels like Iâm more concerned about it than he is? I donât get it. I absolutely donât want him to be super jealous or anything like that, I know I find the whole territorial thing crazzzzy hot in fiction but in reality I would find it stifling and frustrating. But him having zero ounce of jealousy just idk, it makes me feel like he doesnât care? If he was to feel jealous, doesnât that mean heâd want me all to himself? So if he isnât jealous, then he doesnât? I know Iâm overthinking this so Iâll stop. And also in the past heâs said in reality he doesnât know if he would actually want me with anyone else, but the idea and fantasy of it all is hot, which I agree with. I mean never say never because idk I guess I kind of do want to experience him and someone else at the same time, like I wouldnât care in the slightest if it never happened but it is something I think I do properly want. But everything else? Even if we got to the point of finding someone and it eventuating and all of that⊠I canât envision me actually going through with it. Even if Andy wanted it. Except maybe I would, but not out of want but out of feeling like I should because I donât want to let anyone down. I know that isnât a good reason to say yes but idk. Anyway. None of this matters. I donât think the fact he doesnât get jealous as such means he doesnât care. If he didnât care then he would end things.
Not to be rude and horrid and hateful but some people have the most god awful voices. Thereâs a podcast of three women who talk about books and stuff and anyway theyâre all American and two of them are fine, if a little grating at times, but one of them has the most disgusting voices Iâve ever heard. Itâs HORRIBLE. And she keeps shouting over the others and screeching and itâs just such a gross voice. I feel so mean :(
I worked kinda late, just til 7 or so. And then I had dinner, had chats with M, had a shower, made my bed and showered annnnnd now itâs time with my baby! The sky was very pretty tonight, it was like a glowing rose gold. It kind of made me think of a copper pot on a fire. I feel like suchhhh a lil grub, I only changed my sheets today and itâs Wednesday. That means a week and half of the same sheets! Which I guess isnât actually so bad compared to others but still. And I also shower right before bed, so in theory I know theyâre fine but I like to have fresh sheets every Sunday, itâs just how I am. I canât wait to make our bed, I wonder if heâd think it was silly to sometimes leave lil lovey notes under his pillow? Just now and then, like a lil post it size note saying something cute. Hm. I do things like that though, and I know it can be seen as super lame and things so idk. Iâll just have to learn whatâs okay and whatâs not. Hmmm. Anyway.
Night night

2024.05.15 08:20 Weak_Rule_9693 Anyone else feel like the line âlife was always easier on you, than it was on meâ line about Matty is wildly unfair?
In the song âPeterâ, which is most likely written about Matty she states âlife was always easier on you, than it was on meâ. Obviously I know people have had much more difficulties than Matty Healy and yeah you can call him out on his controversial sense of humour, but for Taylor to claim her life was harder on her is delusional.
Although Mattys parents were semi-successful actors in the UK and he wasnât exactly raised in poverty, the trauma of seeing what his mum went through must be really difficult. Heâs spoken about how heâd often seen his mum black out drunk, high, or passed out on the sofa unable to move. Sheâs even admitted at length about how sheâs battled with alcoholism, drug addiction and mental health issues and has said it caused her to be distant from her two sons. This upbringing culminated in Matty himself developing a heroine addiction which he had to attend rehab for and almost lead to his own death.
But oh no! Taylor growing up in an upper-middle class home with two very loving parents, who in her own words, provided everything she wanted was so much harder! She can make the point that since sheâs become famous life has been tough because of all the hate sheâs had but itâs been like that for Matty too. Obviously itâs on a different scale but The 1975 has never been seen as a âcoolâ band and this has lead to him having many haters criticising him for everything from his lyrics to his mental health and addiction.
Like I said, thereâs plenty people around the world whoâve had much more challenging lives than the both of them, but this feels like another âyou wouldnât last an hour in the asylum that they raised me lineâ. Completely out of touch, only thinking about herself (again) and thinking that famous people problems are somehow relatable and worse than normal people problems.

2024.05.15 08:17 MapleSugar87 AITA For Insulting Someone Who Was Cockeyed?
I use to work with a team of 10-12 other girls and we all pretty much got along with each other.
You had this one girl, letâs just call her âSusanâ. Well Susan was one of those girls that wore âorangeâ fondation, bleached her hair blonde - white, wore low riding jeans so you could see her string riding up her backâŠ
Susan and I worked âwellâ together, despite the fact that I didnât like her too much bcuz I always try to remain professional at work no matter who Iâm working with on my shift, but itâs hard to do this when Susan likes to make fun of you..
I was the chubbiest girl out of us all but it had never bothered me before and as mentioned, we all pretty much got along with each other.
it was the early 2000s, I had purchased my FIRST low riding jeans: pure white. But as I am artistically talented I jazzed up those jeans with song lyrics, ripped knees, added some spikes and other bling⊠I did a pretty good job for a DIY project and so they became my favourite pair of pants. I wore them ALL the time.
One day, I was wearing my fav jeans, it was a shift rotation so we had like 6 or 7 people all hanging around about to log on/log off) when Susan out of nowhere just decided to blurt out to me in front of of the girls âyou know, itâs so funny how we all mostly have the same haircutâ (she was the only one who bleached her hair and had hers cut in a short Bob, while the rest of us had long hair coloured between brown to black) âand yet, the best way to tell each other apart from the back is youâve got the biggest ass hereâ and she tried to laugh and make it seem like it was nothing, but nobody else laughed and just kinda fell awkwardly quiet.
All her rude comments to me, always side eyeing me and making fun of me⊠I couldnât hold back so I replied âyeah? Thatâs cool. At least when I insult someone I can look at them straight in the eyesâ.
She never bothered me again đđđ

2024.05.15 07:57 Salmonseas Average incompetent person.
| I was talking to them about how the trend circling around where: one picture of an alternative, not conventionally attractive person appears and then on the next slide, a stereotypical american is there. The people appear to be different completely not just in style but in facial structure. A song plays that goes "Well the devil can [idk what this lyric is], but the lord has won. I was complaining that in the christian religion, jesus welcomed those that were different or odd or weird and would never support somthing like this, even if the people were previously sinning as using someones picture without permission and posting it so that multiple people can make fun of this poor random CHILD (usually) is not okay! The person kept saying "oh but it's funny" or "its not that deep" and other average NT braindead bs. So now this time they are the one getting posted without permission to get made fun of. Also they had a video on their account making fun of their "weird alt phase" hmm I wonder why it was a phase to you and not to be and many others?? Every day Im filled with so much rage. Every day I struggle to understand how WE are seen as the "emotionless" ones but these dirtbags will use our identities as trends and heartlessly bully us once they have decided it's "no longer cool". submitted by Salmonseas to autisticteens [link] [comments] |
2024.05.15 07:45 insomnia0403 Where to find more information about songs!
Yo, so Ive been an avid listener of the bands discography for a solid chunk of years now, however other than a general understanding of the bands origins and members I donât have much knowledge about them.
Having listened through their albums plenty full times has made me wonder who writes most of their lyrics and songs etc. Ive always assumed itâs Ben who is the main lyricist etc, but that could obviously be wrong (such as Fall Out Boy where Pete wentz writes a lot of the lyrics rather than Patrick).
I was also further wondering if all their songs are written about themselves/ personal relationships and lives, or if itâs a case of writing about experiences in general. You know like how Glass Animals wrote an entire album from other peoples perspective that have nothing to do with the actual band members.
The bands lyrics and storytelling, as Im sure most of you would agree is one, if not their most impressive and memorable aspects. And as much as I enjoy making my own interpretations and just being a fan that lurks rather than properly engages: Ive always wanted to know these things!
Anyhow, I was wondering if theres anywhere that talks about the true meaning and history behind songs and albums etc.
Apologies for such a long ass post, hope everyones doing well :)

2024.05.15 07:36 sbill14 [TOMT]Video of big-band acoustic love song performance
Looking for this song performance I saw on YouTube many years ago. Itâs a sweet love song by an acoustic band and they play in some sort of studio with a small orchestra â mostly stringed instruments, I think, but may have been some brass too.
The room is chaotic and super-crowded with musicians and the video isnât staged in any intentional way. The song starts off with just acoustic guitar, with a catchy melody â if I remember correctly, many of the lyrics are in second-person, past tense (âYou wereâŠâ). Over the course, the other instruments fill in and the song builds to a swelling climax. Very catchy, warm, slightly humorous song, some quirky lyrics in English.
Sounds a little bit like Pomplamoose, but I think it might even predate them. Also has a little bit of Mumford & Sons, but with more lightness and humor. I remember hearing that the name of the band was actually some kind of rude phrase in the UK and that the band were somewhat controversial because of that (and may have also changed their name?). Pretty sure the band itself was American or Canadian.
The name of the band and/or song may have been something like Elbow Room or Hungry Buttons or something like that. (Here, I am really starting to plumb the deep recesses of my memory.)

2024.05.15 07:18 DeferentDeluge The Boston Demonstration was Amazing! But some people...
Finally was able to see Starset live tonight in Boston for the first time. It was everything I could have expected and more, definitely can't wait to see them again!
However, I overheard some people talking about the videos in between the songs of the first half the show rather negatively. I'm not saying that you *have* to like the videos, feel free to discuss your opinions with other folks, however you like; but there was this one guy that sorta stood out who voiced his thoughts rather loudly, almost shouting "Fuck the videos", "Stop showing this", and the like every time they played. As a first timer who hasn't seen a Demonstration before, I thought that the videos were pretty neat. The Boston set probably could have been a bit more "immersive", since I think part of the holograms got cut off at some parts of the lyrics (such as during Faultline), but it was still an amazing experience.
Anyway, I digress. Mostly, I just hope that people can have a fun time, whether it's your first time seeing Starset live or not. But if you're reading this spoiler before seeing them for the Immersion Tour for whatever reason, it'll probably be a bit different than whatever you've seen Starset do before. Just keep an open mind; if you like it, great! If you don't, also great. But also please be respectful to your fellow concertgoers and the Starset crew. Hearing negative, unconstructive criticism sorta dampened the vibe for me (not enough to call it a bad experience, though!), and it also seems like spitting in the face of the Starset crew who worked real hard to bring this show to us. If you want to talk about whatever thoughts you had, it's probably a lot easier to talk about it in a post or whatever discussion forum you use rather than shouting in a very crowded, very noisy theater (where it is near impossible to have a normal conversation without shouting).
TLDR; Starset Show was fabulous. Heard some shouts of negative, unconstructive criticism which sorta harshed the vibe. Hope everyone has/had/will have a great time at the show they attend! Please be respectful to folks! Fuck the New East! (Perhaps the last two contradict each other, but you hopefully get the idea.)

2024.05.15 07:16 JLindsey502 Temple of the Dog is the perfect album and Iâll tell you exactly why!
Itâs crazy how brilliant this album is. It somehow still feels underrated and has an arguement for being possibly thee best album - not just in grunge but possibly in the history of rock, or honestly all of music in general! The fact that itâs a tribute to Mother Love Boneâs Andrew Wood (vocalist and amazing piano player) - with a few former members and all of future Pearl Jam since Matt Cameron eventually became the full-time drummer - just makes it an album formed completely from the heart and full of soul. This band was literally the polar opposite of a cash grab opportunist band. Apparently the band just wanted to make music in a stress free manner with little expectations, and boy did they surpass any that may have been placed upon them. Saying that even feels like a heavy understatement!
The fact that the projectâs lead vocalist was a very close friend of Woodâs in Chris Cornell - who also died tragically - makes it even more touching. Side note, but Jerry Cantrell if AiC was supposedly very close to Wood and obviously Cornell as well. Wood permanently left his mark on the Seattle scene a year and a half before before it even became mainstream, and if you listen closely you can tell every bandsâ sound - musically and lyrically - got quite darker following his untimely passing. I donât think thatâs a coincidence.
When he heard the tragic news, Cornell initially wrote two songs in the heavenly (no pun intended) Say Hello 2 Heaven - cleverly released as a single - and the unbelievably EPIC Reach Down. The former is a beautiful, bluesy song which passionately shows Cornellâs full vocal range and beautiful lyricism. Reach Down is simply put, one of the greatest and most epic songs in existence. Eleven minutes long with a guitar riff that is bone-crushing and very likely the best solo Iâve ever heard, especially when you consider McCreadyâs headphones flew off about halfway through the recording it - forcing him to sort of âwing itâ (lol) without having a backing track to hear. Not one second of the song fails to capture oneâs attention - which is nothing less than astounding considering the length of it. Cornell couldâve stopped there and had an epic dual single or even an EP considering he already had be nearly 20 mins (17 minutes and 37 seconds to be exact) material! This easily couldâve been all that was written⊠but then fate intervened in the best way possible!
Former Mother Love Bone rhythm guitarist Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament - primary songwriters for MLB and earlier in Green River (another legendary grunge band) - wanted to collaborate with Cornell to put themselves in position to write and play music before the time off caused them to get rusty with playing or songwriting. With this in mind, Cornell wisely enlisted the other soon-to-be Temple of the Dog musicians (Gossard, Ament, Mike McCready and Matt Cameron) and a masterpiece was about to be born!
The albumâs lead single, Hunger Strike, is a brilliant piece that features a fresh and truly immaculate young voice from San Diego in the incredibly charismatic Eddie Vedder, who was actually auditioning for Gossard and Amentâs new band that you may have heard of (Pearl Jam). The story goes that Cornell - hard to believe - was having trouble hitting the lows as he wanted them to sound and Vedder simply took the mic and naturally delivered the vocals exactly as Cornell had wanted them to sound! I think itâs safe to say Vedder passed his audition with flying colors due to his incredible power, elegance and charisma (and quickly developing song-writing). The songâs drop D tuning and the darker sounding post-chorus riff give it a very proper grunge edge. Say Hello To Heaven and Hunger Strike quickly became staples of â90s radio stations worldwide.
Digging deeper, Pushinâ Forward Back (the third single) and Your Savior combines Mother Love Boneâs street rock approach with Pearl Jamâs more serious hard rock sound. The former features a powerful rhythm guitar riff, soaring lead riffs, Cornellâs finest vocals and the best backup vocals you could ask for from Vedder. Skipping ahead to track eight, Your Savior provides some extremely impressive (and aggressive) drumming, guitar tracks and again Vedderâs unmistakably brilliant sounding backup vocals that could not complement Cornellâs lead vocals any better! This is definitely a favorite among favorites for myself, and perfectly follows the track Wooden Jesus in my humble opinion.
Call Me a Dog and Times of Trouble are, without doubt, two of the most beautiful ballads Iâve ever heard. The former slowly builds up momentum with lovely piano playing and a quieter guitar that seemingly gets louder as the song goes on until it reaches a crescendo, as the bridge hears Cornell belting out some seriously high lead vocals and then McCready blazing through with another divine solo! Times of Trouble is a very interesting piece of music to say the least. It was actually also used for Vedderâs auditioning as well as this albums in the absolutely alluring Pearl Jam song Footsteps, which had a more stripped down approach. Times of Trouble on the other hand features the musicâs absolute full potential being unlocked with a more solid production, a more eventful buildup that includes gorgeous sounding piano and even a harmonica solo for good measure. This is blues rock at its absolute finest!
Wooden Jesus continues the beautiful ballad sound, with probably my favorite bassline of the album and adding another layer to the music with a what I believe is a very prominent and majestic-sounding banjo (if not itâs an acoustic) during the second verse and Cornell just absolutely owns it vocally on this track McCreadyâs criminally underrated guitar solo ties it all together perfectly. Four Walled World - along with Times of Trouble - captures Chris Cornellâs bluesiest sound Iâve ever heard on record, and the extended outro allows him to get some serious wails out along with another epic McCready solo. Four Walled World is a very strong track and gives me vibes of Pearl Jamâs soon-to-heard songwriting. In particular Four Walled World sounds sort of like precursor to Pearl Jamâs Deep. Iâm not sure why exactly but they remind me of each other. Both have very bluesy riffs although Deep is definitely a harder edged track (love the phaser effect on it). But listening to it now it is more bluesy than I remembered for being one of the heavier Ten tracks. The main riffs are what sound similar to me.
All Night Thing is among the best album closers Iâve ever heard, settling the album and night with a beautiful ballad that feels a bit influenced by The Doors due to the use of an organ for the main melody (courtesy of the great Rick Parasher). I love that they went this route for the closing song. It makes me want to restart the album when it finishes so amazingly like that! This album has shades of Led Zeppelin all over it and I mean that in the best way possible. Heck even Chris Cornell and Robert Plant have very similar vocals imo and virtually identical vocal range at four octaves (although Iâve heard five for both as well) with the ability to croon or wail with the best - well they are the best lol.
The album is perfect from start to finish. Everyone served their purpose immaculately. Every single note, chord, lyric / vocal on this album feels perfectly placed. From the opening tracks that Cornell penned as soon as he heard the tragic news to the full on blues rock of the middle to the end of the album. I love the Mother Love Bone flavor to many of the tracks - particularly Pushinâ Forward Back and Your Savior imo. All Night Thing is among the best album closers ever in regards to softer gentler closers, which also includes Mother Loce Boneâs Chloe DanceCrown of Thorns (Shine EP and Apple - but without Chloe Dancer for the latter for whatever silly reason as both together created the âStairway to Heaven of gen Xâ). Also including a piano - again courtesy of Rick Parasher - in a few songs was absolutely poetic being that it was Woodâs instrument of choice. I just wish he couldâve been the one playing piano on a Mother Love Bone and Soundgarden collaboration where they still somehow find Eddie Vedder and Mike McCready. If this album shows us anything, it is that tragedy can often sparks a passionate flame that otherwise cannot be equaled. Mind Riot by Soundgarden is further proof in this particular case.
Also my other picks for best softer album closers - so excluding all harder songs, or this will go on forever lol - plus closing with a gentler song Iâve always preferred as it feels like the albums way of saying âgoodnightâ which the first of these songs Iâm going to list literally does! Janeâs Addictionâs Classic Girl (Ritual de lo Habitual), Pearl Jamâs Release (Ten), Pearl Jamâs Indifference (Vs), Alice In Chainsâ Over Now (Tripod), Nirvanaâs Something in the Way (Nevermind), Led Zeppelinâs Tea for One (Presence), Aerosmithâs You See Me Crying (Toys In The Attic) Aerosmithâs Home Tonight (Rocks).
Thank you to those who took the time to read my review of my favorite album of all-time! Rest in Peace to the great musicians / producers and human that were Andrew âAndyâ Wood, Chris Cornell and Rick Parasher (producer for Temple of the Dogâs eponymous album and Pearl Jamâs Ten). You will all live on forever through your incredible music and be forever loved! Thank you from the bottom of my heart â€ïž

2024.05.15 06:55 CosmopolitanHippie "Little Foot Big Foot" Analysis
I'm one whole bottle of wine in so bear with me.
I was thinking about why Gambino sings about the drug dealer life in such a positive tone, melody, and lyrically after hearing "Little Foot Big Foot". Not to mention this isn't the first time he's made a song about drug dealing in a positive light (Pink Toes ft. Jhene Aiko). What is his deal? Why does he like to make the drug dealer lifestyle some of his most "happy" and catchiest songs?
My girlfriend showed me the light after I asked these questions out loud. Her interpretation: "Maybe he's singing in such a positive and catchy way to represent how the dealer lifestyle had been so glorified to him through his childhood, and even his adulthood. It's probably a representation of how it's glorified and perceived even in today's day and age."It made me think of how where Gambino grew up (Atlanta) has an entire culture surrounding this type of lifestyle. Also how many different artists have made a living surrounding their own experiences with this very lifestyle in Atlanta.Okay cool, my girlfriend is smart as heck and my question got answered. However, I had another question. Why does the person in the "Little Foot Big Foot" music video die the way he does? Why is he mad and drunk when he gets up? Why does Gambino's character's dance performance cause the spectator to accidentally shoot himself?
I saw a top comment on YouTube mention "it isn't entertainment until a black person dies during the performance." Although that is philosophically and racially thought-provoking, I just felt like there was more to it. Once again, I asked this out loud and once again, my girlfriend came in with the clutch analysis.
According to my girlfriend, "Cultural changes in society continuously happen and, If people don't learn how to change with them or learn to approach them with an open mind, they end up getting erased from that society." The person who attempts to shoot Gambino's character is so enraged by the character's performance that he tries to shoot him. This could be a representation of resistance to a performance he hasn't seen before. Resistance towards a new cultural movement. Maybe even resistance to flamboyancy. As a result, the movement itself (literally and figuratively) is what ends up killing this man.
Another interpretation she mentioned is how the rest of the crowd doesn't join in until something extremely drastic happens. It took a man shooting himself in the head for the crowd to start accepting this movement. This represents modern-day society and how they don't start supporting a movement until something extremely drastic happens (ex. the events unfolding in Gaza).
This entire music video is genius in my opinion. Not to mention skillful as heck. Gambino can DANCE. But yeah, what an amazing portrayal of modern-day society. Also, what a catchy song. It's been stuck in my head since the music video came out.

2024.05.15 06:10 smellymannn [TOMT][Music Video][2010s] Black man & White woman sing about Love, Video is in B&W, shot on Cliff side / Ocean shore
I remember the song is sung by a duo, a black man and a white woman, I think I remember them being a couple / married. song probably came out 2010-2015 since I remember listening to it during highschool.
Song is a slow indie pop sound, mostly piano, some synth bass, subtle drums, lyrics are about love, and I think the opening lyric is "love"
Music video is in black & white, shot on a cliff by the ocean / large lake with crashing waves, both the man and the woman are in the video, walking along the cliff / shore
Hopefully this is enough information for someone else to remember this song / music video

2024.05.15 05:54 FusRoDaahh New mod here! Just wanted to say a brief hello and give a quick update on the state of this subreddit.
Both the original mods are inactive so I finally got permission from one of them to become a mod. Yay! Iâm a huge reader and love books and book recommendations so I love the concept of this subreddit so much.
I want this subreddit to remain very simple. Just book recommendations. Here are the two things Iâll be enforcing:
- Removing spam and off-topic posts. This is not a place to share your book reviews, your podcast, articles, your own books, or to ask generic book questions.
- The point of this subreddit is to ask for books that feel like x, so there needs to be some kind of additional media along with the question. Whether itâs a photo, painting, movie poster, collage, album, song lyric, poem, etc, it has to include something other than just a text-based description. There are other subreddits for generic book recommendations. I know most people post pictures, but just a reminder that things like song lyrics, poems, and music are welcome too!
In the next few days I will add a couple official rules just based off those two points and going through the Mod Queue which has been ignored for years đ
and cleaning out all the recent spam posts.
If anyone has any ideas for how they think the subreddit could improve, please comment here or send me a message.

2024.05.15 05:36 Weak-Ant7110 AITA For counting down the days of graduation so I can finally distance myself from my mother whoâs given everything to me?
I(17f) and my mother(53f) have really only had eachother. I will admit, I have luxuries like a phone, iPad, laptop, AirPods etc that sheâs bought for me which I am grateful for. Since I am an inly child, and my father isnât around I am her support system ig if you put it that way. Sheâs an immigrant, making me the first to go to college in the states. With that said, Iâm counting down the days to finally leave for extended periods of time, and distancing myself, meaning Iâm purposely looking for a college thatâs over a 2-3 hr drive from where I live(she doesnât like driving over an hour). Though I love my mother she has her qualities that seriously make me consider leaving. First, she is very narcissistic. From where she comes from, she doesnât believe in therapy and if you seem âdepressedâ her first option is to tell you to go to a psych ward. Not even as a genuine answer but as a threat, like she knows what goes on there and how dehumanizing it can be and wants to make you stop feeling what you do. But when you do express your feelings she turns it into a her problem. âWhy are you sad when I do everything give youâ If Iâm feeling down about my looks or weight itâs nothing uplifting, itâs usually âmaybe if you washed your face more or ate less you wouldnât feel that way,â or âIâm this age and my skin look better than you so I donât know how to help youâ. Iâm currently struggling with my hair journey and itâs previously been damaged by heat and not proper care and she blames it on my hair styles (which are mainly just slick back buns because I donât have much time to do much in the mornings) but when I ask for advice she goes silent. She rambles on about how perfect my hair was when she used to do it but I wanted to do âgrownâ hairstyles. The grown hairstyles sheâs talking about is straightening my hair once for a dance and figuring out how to define my curls. The hairstyles she used to do was back when I was 9, when I wore Jo-Jo bows and barrets. Second Iâm never âgood enoughâ even when thereâs no one to really compare me to. My grades are pretty high but not perfect hundreds so Iâm scared if I ever get a B. I test higher than most my friends but she automatically compares them to me thinking they are the perfect poster child just if they have better skin than me. She doesnât even know them she just âguessesâ by their appearance. Third she expects me to do EVERYTHING. I understand sheâs an immigrant so she might not know stuff but she doesnât really âtryâ. For school in middle school to now I had to enroll myself and answer to the parent questions. I text her coworkers. If my friends parent text them a simple âthank you for letting her go to the partyâ or wtv Iâm the one who needs to respond. At stores or businesses of some sort I have to speak for her, even if sheâs perfectly capable(she knows a great amount of English itâs not like she canât speak it well). Even for job interviews, i had to create an email to send to her boss that said she was sorry for quitting out of the blue that last week and to accept her back(I was literally 13 worrying about if we were going to have a steady income anymore)Recently sheâs let some family say at our house for some time to settle into the us. They speak the native language my mom grew up with and I can maybe make basic sentences, but I canât hold an actual conversation let alone even understand song lyrics in that language. My mom is religious so we go to church and my entire life weâve gone to an American church that spoke English. The second those people came they complained and forced my mom to go to a church with their native language which is now 5 hours long with no youth group of the sort and doesnât speak English at all. Iâm an Outcast and I canât talk to the others so I usually bring a book or something. When we got home one day, the people were complaining about how I donât pay attention in church and read books instead of listening. I try to explain I canât but all they do is make fun of the fact I canât understand the language and how can I not know it, like I literally was never taught and just picked up on done stuff when I was younger. But the fact is instead of standing up for me it understanding my point of view, my mother sides with them and laughs at me as well. So now, a few days later I am writing this mixing up all the emotions and coming to this conclusion. I really want to know if itâs just teenage emotion and some Alternative ways I can let them out or if I genuinely have a right to feel like I do so, aita?

2024.05.15 04:58 numbasafossil14 The Black Dog is a Bearding Symbol
| This is my first post on the sub and I'm fairly new to Gaylorism (was deep into Gaylor tiktok last year before taking a break and just found this sub within the last month or two!) so full disclosure, I don't in any sense have a comprehensive knowledge of Gaylor lore, nor do I know everything about TayloJoe Alwyn. Nonetheless, I think I found something interesting! (I'm really sorry if this post is too long and I point things out that are obvious; I'm autistic and this is how I communicate when I'm excited and care a lot!!) Inspired by this post on the LWYMMD music video, I decided to rewatch a few other MVs and found something in Blank Space: three black dogs. Dobermans, actually! They appear during 0:48-0:58 and are being walked on leashes by Taylor and her "love interest." There is even a shot JUST of the dogs. I think it's common knowledge that Blank Space is a song about PR relationships and bearding contracts, so seeing these dogs seemed significant. They of course brought to mind the Doberman in the Fortnight MV and "The Black Dog", and I thought, what if all these black dogs are a bearding symbol? https://preview.redd.it/694l9olv6i0d1.png?width=1014&format=png&auto=webp&s=4def19eb0556ca29a641a6ee9e1461febd642228 Before diving into the explanation for that, some context on Dobermans provided by Wikipedia. The breed was created by a tax collector who wanted protection from thieves as he traveled and collected taxes. In other words, Dobermans were created to safeguard the collection of money. They are ranked the 5th most intelligent dog in the category of "obedience command training," are "tenaciously loyal," and are "kept as a guard dog and as a companion animal." More on why those traits tie into this theory later. The appearance of the Dobermans in Blank Space isn't too noteworthy by itself. They can easily be written off as a status symbol, like the mansion and horses and "new money, suit and tie." But in connection with TTPD, they take on a new meaning. In the Fortnight MV, we see a Doberman trot across screen while Taylor is strapped down, being experimented on (2:42). I always thought that was odd but shrugged it off as a casual nod to "The Black Dog" and didn't look for any deeper meaning for why it would be included in that particular scene -- until now. https://preview.redd.it/buc47hx37i0d1.png?width=1014&format=png&auto=webp&s=524478d8b4425bab098d6e787016228f391e65d1 During this scene, we see scientists examining Taylor's head and reading lyrics ("I love you, it's ruining my life") in her brainwaves. This scene screams exploitation even before the electroshock therapy begins. They begin shocking her, sparks are flying, scientists are ducking. At 3:06, we see all this but also the Doberman, standing in one of the doorways. While it takes a few steps forward, the dog is otherwise unaffected by this violence in that it isn't barking, rushing to Taylor's aid, or attacking the scientists who are causing this violence. Yet, its position at the doorway to the lab seems to imply it is a guard dog. It's just not Taylor's guard dog. It's not there to protect her. It's there to protect the experimentation and exploitation process, to ensure this process can continue taking place. It's Post Malone's character who ultimately saves her from it. Coming back to tie this up later. https://preview.redd.it/tk15o8477i0d1.png?width=1014&format=png&auto=webp&s=d3db983b98490dff491420ecca730eaaced3bcfe Now, "The Black Dog." It may be my favorite song on TTPD and The Anthology. In preparing for this post, I searched the sub to see if my ideas were already shared somewhere, and I found this comment by u/Small-Expert-4020: "To me this is the only song that makes me think of joe- and it sounds way more like a friend breakup then being sad over an ex. The way she says 'i was someone you shared secrets and your location with' sounds so much like a confirmation that shes sad the bearding relationship ended on less than good terms" (Wanted to copy/paste rather than link to help explain my theory) I totally agree with this interpretation that the song is about Joe and the loss of their relationship, not just the PR relationship but whatever personal relationship they may have had, because I don't think you share a PR relationship with someone for that long and not find a single facet of it that's genuine. I don't know if they were in love, but I do believe they were friends, confidants, and I believe Taylor loved him like a brother. I think the lyric "For a cruel fraternity I pledged / And I still mean it" says this directly. She pledged to a fraternity with him by loving him like a brother, and that was the part of them that was real. That's why it's painful and bewildering to lose, because she still loves him like that despite him being gone. This isn't the only time she's referenced a familial love toward Joe. In CIWYW, she writes, "I'm laughin' with my lover, makin' forts under covers / Trust him like a brother, yeah, you know I did one thing right." Laughing with her lover -- maybe they're laughing because he isn't really her lover. Making forts under covers -- seems innocent and not sexual to me; making pillow forts with roof blankets is something friends and siblings do. She trusts him like a brother, and that shows her that she's picked one beard right. This one may be more meaningful than the others. Back to "The Black Dog," I've read the posts about how it could refer to a Black Dog Tavern or a Black Cat Tavern, and it may, but I think the black dog is also Joe himself. Again, the song doesn't feel like losing a lover; it feels like losing a dear friend and confidant. And of course there is the line "'Cause tail between your legs, you're leaving." The subject of the song, Joe, is the dog, leaving with his tail between his legs. Remember the info about Dobermans that they're both guard dogs and loyal companions. Joe could've been, and likely was, a PR relationship that offered Taylor safety as a closeted queer person, which her team enforced so as to assure her financial success, and a person she truly came to trust, love, and share her plans with. Blank Space puts an irreverent spin on bearding, like it's a necessary evil she can at least have some fun with. I think with Joe, it became something meaningful, and I think he was part of her plans to come out in 2019. When her plans were ruined, she was heartbroken, but at least she still had him as a friend and confidant and someone who knew what she was feeling. But maybe he got tired of the bearding after so long, maybe he wanted to live more authentically and she wasn't yet ready to. If you read the lyrics, she's saying: It's hitting me that you're really gone. I don't understand why you left. We were dreaming together. We made those best laid plans. You said you'd be brave and play my man and now that I really need you, you're gone and it kills me. Do you hate me for not coming out? Old habits (closeting) die screaming. I think the loss of Joe has made her feel more bitter than ever about bearding, which could add to why she's being so in-our-faces about the PR relationship with Travis. At least with Blank Space, there seemed to be an aspect of fun about it. But the performance she's giving now just seems painful and sad. Like she's determined to play it up as much as possible because it can't mean anything real to her again. I noted this past weekend (though haven't found a pic of it) one of the visuals during ICDIWABH is a marquee saying The Black Dog (Club?). This reference during that song also supports the idea that losing Joe did break her heart in a way, and now she's bearding with a broken heart by making it so visible and so ridiculous. In conclusion, Taylor has seemed to learn a lesson that the beard/the black dog won't save her in the end. The black dog just perpetuates the pain of closeting. It's Post Malone's character in the Fortnight MV (whom I agree represents queer, closeted Taylor) that saves her from the exploitation of the scientists/her team. And I really, really hope she's going to save herself by coming out. submitted by numbasafossil14 to GaylorSwift [link] [comments] |
2024.05.15 04:52 Mundane-Language920 After ttpd, I truly donât know who Taylor is
At this point, Iâm not sure Taylor loved Joe, given her cheating and lyrics to some of the songs. Iâm not sure if she emotionally cheated, or physically, but Iâm guessing physically because Illicit affairs really makes it sound like she is familiar with how it feels to have a full fledged affair. I am not someone who relates a lot to Taylor, and I definitely donât now. If Matty was the love of her life, it makes no sense that they didnât just get together at some point. She wasnât married, no kids, justâŠ.be together. Instead she willingly staid with herâjailorâ, why?I have no idea if she âlovesâ Travis, or if this is just someone to be with because she canât be alone. Not only did she not seem to love the guy she sold as âthe love of her lifeâ for six years,đ, but she didnât even seem to like or respect him. If she did, she never would have dropped hints about being jailed to get her fans to go after him. Or at the very least stop them from terrorising him. She really threw him under the bus once she was over it and had no problem telling the world about his mental health struggles. Itâs kinda sad. Taylor seems very empty to me, like she becomes obsessively infatuated with people and then gets bored and either ditches them or hates them. And other than her never ending bottomless need to succeed in her career, I have absolutely no idea who this person is. She also doesnât seem to have a lot, (or any?) empathy which is a little scary. Anybody else have no clue who Taylor even is?

2024.05.15 04:20 DooDooMcNugget Hearing Voices in Music
I cannot figure this out. Sometimes when I am listening to synthwave (like the "ChillsynthFM" or "DatawaveFM" stations on Youtube, I can hear voices, even though I am listening to instrumental music. This might be possible with other instrumental music as well. However, my listening habits are very rigid, and I only listen to synthwave (i.e. I don't listen to classical, or jazz), so I wouldn't know if this phenomenon works for other music genres.
When I listen with concentration to these voices in the music, they start to talk to me. They are very rational and their words make sense.
I was listening to an instrumental synthwave song (synthwave sounds like reimagined 80s pop music). It was instrumental, as in having no voices. In this song, men started moaning and it sounded like Gregorian chanting (no, I don't mean moaning in pain, or sexually, just moaning like a Buddhist or Catholic monk chanting, but it sounded more like the wordless moan of a male choir).
For a split second, I wan't sure if they were actually singing with words, so I listened carefully. They started saying something like
"Christ is coming,
Prepare the way
Make haste
His kingdom shall return."
As this is a pop station I know there is no way they would be playing Christian music. The more I listened, the more I realized the voices were just wordless synths made to mimic human voice. But to me they had sounded like gobbledygoo chatter. And the closer I listened, the more I could make out words that seemed very real. However, I knew it was all in my mind.
I am not psychotic. I understand that I have hyperarousal as a neurodivergent person (I've been diagnosed with autism, level 1 per the DSM-V, but my doctor says he's "holding off" on an ADHD diagnosis even though I know I have ADHD. I also requested the genetics office to schedule me for Fragile x testing, due to family behavioral and physiological symptoms I have noticed.
If i had to guess, it would seem that my hyperaroused central nervous system is "sensing" that I am trying to process info that might be important to my survival, and so it is trying to "help" me by filling in the blanks. However, I understand that these voices are just my brain interpreting sound as words and trying to make logical sense of them.
What is this called? I asked my therapist but she did not know. I am concerned that she might see a psychotic, psychiatric connection to my experience, instead of understanding it as a neurological phenomenon.
It seems that all my symptoms have a neurological base, but therapists keep trying to explain them through a psychological lens of pathology.
It seems trivial, but I used to think my difficulties with eye contact, lights and loud noises was trivial too. so I am wondering if anyone knows what this is. for reference, I am a fourth-year grad school student studying for my MFT in psychology. I sincerely do not think any of the faculty I know would have an answer, and anyway I am on a leave of absence for this quarter. Any help would be appreciated.
*** Oh my God, it's happening now as I type:
A-Reis - Andromeda (Youtube)
What a coincidence. A song just came on just like the one I was talking about. It is a totally different song, but similar. The wordless voices start up around 20 seconds into the track and only last for a few seconds. The other voices start up around 8:42 minutes into the track. I am not hearing dialogue in the music now, as the phenomenon only happens when I feel "lit," aka very hyperaroused. No, I am not on drugs and I am not schizophrenic. I'm just wondering how I could hear logical, sensible lyrics whilst just lying in bed passively, listening to music, with a blank mind. This has been going on for years.
One last thing. I sometimes hear voices also when things like generators are running loudly and gratingly, or when or when rhythmic noise is coming from construction crew equipment in the neighborhood. The noise usually has some degree of loudness, is grating in some way (though not necessarily unpleasant), and is rhythmic.
