2024.05.14 11:55 AgeProfessional6406 Testosterone fueled adolescent - halp

I have a 9 month old Maltipoo and inside his tiny little fluff ball of a body, seems to be an absurd amount of hormones.
This week he slipped his harness to get to an unneutered female about 800m away who had just entered the same field as us but was not even in sight. Then he spent all of puppy class doing nothing but trying to seek out the females. The trainers says he's bitching (no idea if that's an official term) and there's not much more I can do. He knew a week or two before any of the other male puppies whenever the females were about to come into season. I really want to avoid neutering him before he's a year old so I was hoping someone here might have some advice. šŸ™
His behaviour at home is absolutely perfect but the second we step out of that door the menace demon appears. It doesn't seem to matter how much focus work I do at home, I hand feed, I play recall games, I ask for eye contact to get any treat or reinitiate play, we practice heel work round the house. He will do literally anything I ask almost immediately.
Once we leave the house there is no treat or toy that is high enough value. I don't even attempt to get him to heel anymore I just stop and wait until he sits and makes some attempt to look in my direction if he pulls, but he only achieves this if there are ZERO distractions around, it's super frustrating for us both and can take forever. Sometimes I just turn and pull him in the other direction. So the majority of walks right now are miserable. I've had a few successes where he'll come for a treat but he just spits it out or refuses to take it and then he won't come again for the rest of the walk. I even try holding treats to his nose and he gets pissed off. He's just so over aroused or stimulated by everything else and that is his only focus. He's literally eyes wide, tongue out, peeing on everything, scraping his paws, panting and lunging to the end of the lead every chance he gets.
I'm trying to be strict and not reinforce bad habits like leash pulling, I'm trying to correct him for lurching at other dogs and get him to move past them, I pull him along so he can't stop to pee every single time, but I'm worried I'm just turning walks into a miserable activity. I honestly wonder if I should just let him go wild and burn his energy off and come back to these skills when he's older. The only good news is he weighs about 3kg so his pulling isn't exactly unmanageable.
He must be so frustrated though. I'm going to try and give him more enrichment and stuff he can shred but I'm desperate for more ideas. I don't know if I should be sending him to daycare so he can get that doggy playtime he's so desperate for or if I should be keeping him away from dogs as much as I can. I don't know if waiting it out is better or worse than getting him fixed too early.

2024.05.14 11:49 kuleyed [MO] fallacy of hit and run (facts) while training for CDL - urgent, threat of jail, he'll critical

Hello there kind folks! I (38 male) scribe this, somewhat unbelievable account, with a fair degree of time sensitivity. For what follows has only been brought to the attention of the accused (41 female) after a warrant has been issued for her arrest in Missouri. She is, and has been, a resident of the state of Pennsylvania since 2021.
Essentially, the issue was initially of a hit and run the woman was UNKNOWINGLY charged with after being fired from the company she worked for, driving trucks.
She was on the road, training for an upgrade of her permit/licensing, when she proceeded to wake her trainer for help turning around in a parking lot. Both the trainer and herself, proceeded without any incident known to them at the time. Two weeks thereafter, the company called and informed them they had to return the truck and her training was over. She was being fired, because security footage in the parking lot recorded their grazing of a parked vehicle with the back of the truck.
Right out of the gate, it seemed odd how everything was handled. Suffice it to say, the woman driver moved on with life having never been contacted again by her company post termination.
At that time, a very prominent publication and journalist covering a story about the trucking crisis then even documented her story and recorded her telling of it. (This all can be verified but I'm not sharing the specifics publicly, please DM me for details)
Fast forward 3 years later, and she is informed in her state of present residence that her benefits are halted because she is wanted. This is the first she gains knowledge of the fact that way back in 2021, she was charged with a hit and run FELONY charge, never informed, and a warrant was issued for her arrest of which she was also never informed.
She became proactive in procuring the paperwork involved. It was revealed that indeed, they were aware she had not been notified and proceeded under the pretense she had been aware of the accident. This assumption was made based on a faulted testimony of an officer whom, in his own admission, could not recall the date upon which his phone call to the defendant was even made (it would then go without saying that his recollection of the conversation should also be considered askew should it not?) .
Complicating matters is her inability to seemingly get anyone (including her issued public defender by the MO state bar) to take seriously the urgency of this matter. She is not in a position to drop everything to hop skip down to MO based on a total lie, documented as such, between the discovery of the case and original coverage of the incident.
Now, beyond this briefing, may I also say, as her partner of this entire time-frame, I have never, EVER, once, in the 300+ times I have heard the story told, heard her say what she is accused of in the discovery of the case. The only shred of evidence with which such assumptions as are being made can cling to, is a statement by an officer that she admitted to her guilt, on a phone call she has no recollection of making, and that the officer admits to also not knowing the date of.... this has caused such considerable grief, during a period of extreme personal hardship for us due to chronic illness, we are in desperate need of assistance, for which an incredible debt of gratitude (and then some) is to be assuredly paid.
Please know any help or advice is appreciated šŸ™

2024.05.14 11:47 digital_bijoy This Mindset Shift Was Key To Finally Building Muscle And Strength

This Mindset Shift Was Key To Finally Building Muscle And Strength
Women's Health
Growing up in Puerto Rico, I was an active child and fell in love with volleyball. When I was 10, my mother and I picked up and moved to New York. While adjusting to my new home and my mom's long work hours, I had to take care of myself more. As a result, I started gaining weight.
By age 21, I was dealing with lower back pain from a car accident and became pregnant with my daughter. I weighed 250 pounds, which caused sciatica pain and made carrying my pregnancy harder. At one point, it was even difficult to walk. My self-image took a hit, I was depressed, and I felt like I lost myself.

My daughter inspired me to make major changes in my health and start a fitness routine.

After I gave birth to my daughter, I hit a turning point.
In 2018, I decided to sign up for XSport, a local gym facility, and started using YouTube to teach myself different workouts. I also worked with a personal trainer for a month to learn the basics of equipment and exercises in the gym and get a meal plan started. My mom was always big on working out, so we would go together as well.
I started seeing results, but at that point, I was only focused on losing weight, not strength or building muscle. I did cardio-heavy workouts seven days a week. It was mostly the treadmill and elliptical.

When I saw the number on the scale continue to drop, it sparked my curiosity for the machines and weights.

Luckily, my boyfriend at the time was a bodybuilder and taught me a lot. He gave me the tools I needed to build muscle and challenge myself on my own.
Transitioning out of cardio-focused workouts and light weights and into a new routine was challenging. It was exciting to know that I was taking the right steps to see the results I wanted.
Learning so many new things at once and then putting it into action was also intimidating. I felt overwhelmed. Between early morning gym sessions, measuring my meals, creating enough time to stretch, and hitting my water goals, it was a lot.
I knew I had a foundation of fitness, but I needed to put the pieces together in a way that worked for me and for my goals. Things didn't start to click for me until waking up at 4 a.m. for cardio became second nature.

Now, I approach my training like a bodybuilder and often do two workouts a day.

I currently train at a bodybuilding gym (Xtreme Fitness) six days a week and do cardio about seven days a week. Generally, I do my cardio in the morning and go back to the gym in the evening to strength train. I used to have push and pull days, but now I have four leg days and one upper-body day once a week. On my rest days, I'm usually working, so itā€™s more of an active recovery day.
Some of my go-to exercises include Bulgarian split squats, goblet squats, leg curls, and leg extensions. I try to stay away from squatting because of my sciatica. For upper body, Iā€™ll do side and front lateral raises, lat pulldowns, and seated cable rows.
I usually do four sets of 15 to 20 reps for every exercise. Each week, Iā€™ll try to up the weights and test myself, and if I feel like I canā€™t hit my usual goal, then Iā€™ll max out at 12 reps instead.
Iā€™m preparing to compete in my first bodybuilding competition later this year in the womenā€™s wellness division, which focuses on bigger legs and glutes and a leaner upper body. Iā€™m also in the process of becoming a certified personal trainer.
Bodybuilding is less about numbers and PRā€™s, but a few years ago I was able to leg press 675 pounds for 12 reps. We call that ā€œego lifting,ā€ because itā€™s not necessary. While I still lift heavy from time to time, Iā€™d rather avoid injuring myself. For example, for leg extensions, Iā€™ll stick to around 135 pounds for 20 reps. And for an RDL, I wonā€™t go heavier than 115 pounds.

I learned what worked and what didn't trying different diets until I found a sustainable plan and started measuring out my meals.

Before I started hitting the gym, I tried Herbalife and lost 25 pounds. Eventually, it got expensive, so I had to stop. I ended up gaining the weight back. Once I started training, I tried the keto diet for about five months and lost 50 pounds. With that, I hit 170 pounds.
I didn't realize it at the time, but I was actually doing dirty keto, which I found out thanks to my ex-boyfriend. With his help, we restructured my meals, and I got off keto. Not long after making the switch, I had better energy levels, improved focus, and noticeable progress in the gym.
Now, my new bodybuilding coach has me eat 1,400 calories a day. (Reminder: That's what works for me, but you should always work with an expert before making big calorie or diet changes.) For breakfast, I have two whole eggs with lean brown beef and some pineapple. For lunch, Iā€™ll have grilled chicken with any green vegetable.
My pre-workout is 30 grams of cashews, and my post-workout is 30 grams of cream of rice with one scoop of protein and water mixed together. For dinner, I usually eat salmon and sweet potato. I measure all my meals beforehand and drink a gallon of water a day.

I had to reframe my mindset around changes in my weight to enable muscle gain.

One of the biggest blocks I had to overcome was accepting that building muscle also came with gaining weight. People explained the science to me, but I still wasn't processing it. I was so focused on losing weight for so long that I found myself frustrated about working hard at the gym and not seeing more weight coming off.
At the same time, I started to finally see my muscles coming through. That's when I began to understand weight in a new way. It was challenging to think of gaining weight as my new goal. I even had to give myself pep talks to help myself lean into what was needed in order to see progress. Once I let the fear go, everything started falling into place.

Learning the importance of discipline made a huge difference in and out of the gym.

Of all my goals, Iā€™m most proud of my ability to stay disciplined. There are still days I wake up and donā€™t want to train or eat the same foods. But I feel like Iā€™ve mastered the discipline that was needed to get me to where Iā€™m at. I learned that motivation comes and goesā€”itā€™s not consistent. But itā€™s about showing up for yourself. Discipline has had a positive affect on my work life and at-home life as a mom. I can apply it to everything.
I want women to know how important mindset is. You really have to think about what you're getting into before an attempt at your goal is even made. You have to be willing to dedicate the time and remind yourself that this for you and nobody else. Get comfortable being uncomfortable, and in the end, it will always be worth it.

2024.05.14 10:56 postmodern_emo Women who go to gym, how did you start your gym journey?

Hello!
30(F) in Delhi looking to get into strength training and weight loss (hopefully). I'm getting older and many friends have told me that strength training plays a big role maintaining healthy body later. I've also gained weight which makes me feel a bit sluggish- I don't want to feel like that. I've never been to a gym and tbh, it scares me a bit. I am shy and I do not know how to begin, how to vet a gym, get membership, should I get a trainer since I'm a beginner? Or can I just do it at home? There are so many questions.
I do take dance classes but i would like to specifically work on strengthening my body a bit.
How did the ladies here, in my age group specifically, start with their gym journey, esp if you did the whole process on your own, without guidance? What would be your advice? Anything i should keep in mind? I'll be thankful.

Mastering Fire Safety: The Evolution of Digital Fire Extinguisher Simulators
In the field of fire safety training, technological improvements have transformed how people prepare for emergencies. Digital fire extinguisher simulations have become useful tools, providing realistic and interactive training experiences that mimic real-life fire incidents. In this blog post, we look at the advantages and progress of digital fire extinguisher simulators, with a focus on the Bullex fire extinguisher trainer.
The Rise of Digital Fire Extinguisher Simulators
Traditional fire extinguisher training sometimes used out-of-date props and cumbersome equipment, reducing the effectiveness of the learning experience. However, the introduction of digital simulators has made training more dynamic and entertaining than ever before. These simulators use cutting-edge technology to recreate the sights, sounds, and sensations of a fire emergency, allowing participants to practice their abilities in a safe and controlled setting.
Benefits of Digital Fire Extinguisher Simulators
1. Realistic Training Scenarios: Digital simulators generate extremely realistic fire conditions, replete with synthetic flames, smoke, and heat. This immersive experience closely resembles real-life emergencies, allowing players to practice critical decision-making abilities under duress.
2. Safe and Controlled Environment: Unlike traditional training methods that use live fires, digital simulators provide a safe environment for participants to practice extinguisher operations. This avoids the risks involved with live fire training while providing an authentic learning experience.
3. Immediate Feedback: One of the most significant benefits of digital simulators is their capacity to provide participants with immediate feedback. Individuals receive quick feedback on their extinguisher usage, whether via visual indicators or performance measures, enabling rapid skill growth.
Digital Fire Extinguisher Simulators

2024.05.14 06:57 Affectionate_You_671 Never signed a non compete, what action can employer take?

I have been working part time as a personal trainer for nearly 4 years. The people I work for in that time and that own the business have been some of the nastiest, verbally abusive, and petty people I have ever known. They lie to clients, steal money, and are just down right scum. The only reason I have stayed is because I love my clients. They make the awfulness better and I have personally become friends outside of this job with many of them. But recently the owners went on a business trip and asked me to be on site for over a week (no extra compensation mind you) and make sure there were no issues, and to watch the small retail shop where they sell supplements and other things.
Well they just got back this weekend and since they have been back I have been bombarded with the nastiest messages about stupid things (like there was a spider in the window and someone left a waterbottle in the bathroom. One such message was a threat about inventory because "the stock of supplements better add up or else.") This is just how they are...
So I'm deciding to quit and move on. I have an opportunity to continue my work at my home (it is small and I don't have all the equipment I need, but it would work.) Or our biggest competitor down the street has asked for me to join them for years but I refused because "it would really anger my current employer."
Either way I'm leaving, but I want to have my bases covered. In my time working here I have been the longest tenured employee. I have seen about nine trainers leave (most of them have been rage quitting over the owners and the way they were treated.) But every single one of them has cautioned me that when I leave the owners will try to ruin me. One trainer was accused of stealing and had a police report filed, and they didn't steal anything. The other was threatened that if they did not delete all their clients off of Facebook there would be consequences. These people are sue happy and have about six active lawsuits over the smallest thing while I've been here. Not to mention the say derogatory stuff and spread rumors about the trainers that left with current clients.
I know me leaving will push clients to leave also. Most no doubt will follow me to wherever I end up. And I'm expecting my employers to come after me big time since I've been here so long and have made a big impact on generating business. I have never signed anything for them, no non compete, no paperwork, nothing. But I fear they may try to spin it and forge my signature or say I stole equipment. It is just a mess, but I am done being bullied by them because I very much cared for this business at first and made every effort for them to be successful, but it's time to leave.
What should I do before I quit? Should I have a lawyer on standby? What legally can they do to me? They have nothing from what I can see. All the other former employees got out of the business because they were so scared of them and what they could do.

2024.05.14 05:44 Horror-Reporter7401 Manager burnout

Looking to vent, but also receive constructive advice. I apologize in advance for the length of this, I will try to keep it as brief as possible while still highlighting important relevant details that will make my points clear. I am experiencing burnout at my current job to the point I had an anxiety attack and couldn't eat for over 24hrs. For a little backstory, I was promoted to a manager and have been in this position for almost three years now. I have exceeded my own expectations, as I never thought myself qualified for such a position, but I have truly proven myself more than capable and I am told so all the time. Recently we have had more issues with staff than we have in the past. We have staff quarreling with one another, staff giving pushback to our trainers/lead staff, and even giving pushback to management. It has gotten to the point that I am at a complete and total loss as to what else to do to rectify on going issues. We are very supportive and want everyone to succeed and feel confident in themselves. We heavily encourage communication and feedback among all employees, as great jobs are only as good as the people you work with. Staff continue to bring issues they have with coworkers to management and expect us to rectify the issue when they have made zero effort to do so themselves. We have gotten to a point where management is needing to step in more and more to correct behavior and remind staff what their job duties are. It's feeling a lot like babysitting and parenting. We are a small service industry business, so the hours can be dependent on how busy we are. We sometimes do not need as many staff onsite, but knowing how many staff we will need can sometimes be a seemingly last minute decision. Staff receive an hours notice of whether they are needed before they are supposed to clock in, after that they are officially "cu. and are not responsible for that shift. It's not ideal by any means, but it is the nature of the business and not within our control. We have had many instances where an emergency has arisen and we have needed to bring in a staff member who most likely would not have been needed and they give us pushback because they have made plans knowing that they might still have to work. If they refuse to work it is considered a no call no show. If you are a manager you understand all that this position can entail, and we are spending more and more time on making sure we are properly staffed for any given shift. Weekends especially turn into clusterfucks more often than not. The management team is working their asses off to ensure everything runs smoothly, and we feel disrespected by employees. We work hard to make our employees feel appreciated and confident only to be met with pushback and taking time from our nights and weekends to handle staff issues. It is getting exhausting. There have been many times that we have had to fill in for positions ourselves, turning our 5 day work weeks into 6 or 7 day work weeks. We are basically on call 24/7 and will receive messages from staff daily, we rarely have the time to disconnect and recharge before Monday rolls around. I think we have been too forgiving and too supportive and staff are now taking advantage of our kindness and willingness to help when needed. They are relying more and more on our assistance while we try to empower them to handle things. We are more than willing to help when necessary, but there are many instances where they are more than capable of handling it themselves. We also trust them to do so. I feel like I am doing everything I can, and I'm at a point where I just don't know what else I can do. I am a problem solver and I'm always willing to learn new things and adapt to changes, but I feel helpless not knowing what else I could possibly be doing. I'm putting everything I have into this, and I have nothing left to give.
TLDR: Management feels disrespected by staff and attempts to rectify issues have not been successful. rely more and more upon management to "fix" things when they are more than capable of handling it themselves.

2024.05.14 04:16 Asclepius24 Community Feedback: Rules for deck list submissions, community moderation

In the recent weeks we've seen an influx here of posts looking for help with deck lists that have been copy/pasted directly from the PTCGL client. This leads to "lists" that look much more like a paragraph than a list, resulting in blocks of text that are very difficult to parse. Not to pick on anyone in particular, but below is a portion of an example:
Trainer: 38 4 Arven OBF 186 2 Iono PAF 80 2 Eri TEF 146 2 Penny SVI 183 1 Boss's Orders PAL 172 1 Professor Turo's Scenario PAR 171 1 Thorton LOR 167 1 Roseanne's Backup BRS 148 4 Rare Candy PAF 89 4 Ultra Ball PAF 91 2 Nest Ball PAF 84 2 Buddy-Buddy Poffin TEF 144 2 Counter Catcher PAR 160 2 Pal Pad SVI 182 1 Super Rod PAL 188 1 Hisuian Heavy Ball ASR 146 1 Lost Vacuum CRZ 135 1 Forest Seal Stone SIT 156 1 Hero's Cape TEF 152 1 Bravery Charm PAL 173 1 Defiance Band SVI 169 1 Technical Machine: Devolution PAR 177
I understand that this is how the list copy/pastes. It also does not make for high-quality content here on /pkmntcg. I've been trying to suggest that folks edit their posts into something more legible, however very few OPs have done this. It's becoming frustrating and I think it is dragging down not only post quality but also engagement as a result.
My initial thought is to make a rule for the forum that deck lists submitted for feedback must be a true list, with each card on its own line and certainly not in a block of text like the above example. This will likely also not be followed because Reddit, and the result would be that posts not following this rule would be removed until fixed.
Before this is implemented, I would like to hear what the community thinks and if there are alternative suggestions for how to handle this. My biggest concern is the amount of moderation this may require, which leads to my second item.
I have to acknowledge that I have not been as visibly active here as I once was. Especially as /pkmntcg approaches its 100k member milestone, I would like to work to find a few other folks to bring on the moderator team to work with Tsukimizu and me on updating and modernizing a lot of resources here to make this community more useful to all of you. If you have ideas or candidates in mind, please drop a modmail message. Look for more to come about this in the near future.

2024.05.14 03:58 Catlady1106 Pruvit & ketone college?

Uhm, anyone get word on the ketone certifications Pruvit is giving out for the low, low cost of $1000?! I saw Kelsey and Eric (the man who claims to be a personal trainer certified through ISSA, though when contacted, ISSA has no certification information and can't provide any info on him šŸ¤”) talk about it in a video where they made ERRONEOUS claims and spewed the most false, inconsistent bullshit regarding ketones, anatomy and physiology. I've honestly never witnessed two people who were so inherently stupid and yet so confident in my life! I'm wondering if they just believe everyone is as big of an idiot as themselves or if they genuinely believe the shit they're saying. She went off to give details about how she's going to become certified in ketones by Pruvit (break for a laugh) and how it only costs 900 some dollars. I'm just floored how these reps have such little and such incomplete knowledge of their own bodies and the products they represent but the company continues to make money. When Kelsey and Eric speak, they remind me of people who'd tell you the sky is brown and grass is purple, cat is spelled f-l-o-w-e-r, and 1+1=17 all while saying it with their chest and believing it. Consumers can't be that gullible. Can they?

Sub Story: Champion's Paradox

Arlene Sachlett, the champion for the pokemon league of Kamelai, Chris and Freya's home region, arrives in Unova for the WCS and immediately begins clearing house with her absurdly stacked team, including what appears to be the future paradox pokemon Iron Valiant. To an experienced observer however, it's clear that this Iron Valiant is not a typical example of his species. Alas, the rarity of paradoxes means experienced observers are hard to come by in the WCS.

Sub Story: The Playoffs

Chris and Freya's goal in the WCS was to try and put themselves and the rest of the team on the map by making it to the top 50. They are close to succeeding at this, but when the new fights are scheduled, it becomes clear that they may be able to go even farther, possibly even finally defeating a regional champion, if only they can make their way through several gruelling battles against their very own 'Elite 5'.

2024.05.14 03:35 Sad_Ad_8625 Have I been oblivious to red flags in trainers?

Iā€™ve recently moved across the country and have had to find a few new barns. I wouldnā€™t say my past experience with trainers has been negative at all; my trainers were always kind and educational, they helped me grow to become confident in my riding and put me on appropriate horses to further excel my skills. However, for the past two years I feel like Iā€™ve been stuck in a loop where the only profit I get is 40 minutes in the saddle and $80 down the fucking drain.
The first barn I joined just so happened to be the first of the few Iā€™d initially looked at. No outward health concerns beside the fact that the place was a little run down. I always rule this out as something normal, because maybe Iā€™m not in the price bracket to be affording nice barns. My very first session I noticed she had a few horses tied in the cross ties for hours on end. And I say hours on end because she loses track of time very easily. Sometimes she would have me in the saddle for over an hour. The horses were always tacked up before I got there. I guess this wasnā€™t unusual; traffic makes it hard for me to get there early but I was always on time. I prefer to tack up on my own, but I realized it was because after the lessons I had she usually had another student hop on right afterā€¦
She would smoke during lessons, which canā€™t be good for the horses or the kids. She was very confusing and often barked orders at me in the middle of doing a line. She favored certain students and constantly ignored me. (Either because they were frequenting or paid more.) She stuck me on the same PA/QH cross every single lesson I had. It was certainly annoying because I do have long legs. For context, I went to that barn for a consecutive 3-5 months. Iā€™ve been riding on and off since I was 7 and am a junior in high school. She also put inexperienced students on horses who were too green. In my case, I got a horse that was too desensitized. And I know what everyone says, itā€™s not the horses fault itā€™s the rider, but lots of lesson horses are desensitized to leg cues, no matter how hard you try to work with them.
I am not someone who wants to spend my paid lesson kicking a horse and being told to stop being shy. Shyness is not my problem. I can be a demure person but Iā€™m not an ignorant one. It is very frustrating constantly being told to take control, when what I need is a willing partner. The one time I ever rode a different horse at that barn just happened to be an OTTB gelding. By no means a bad horse, I adored him absolutely even though he was finicky. I later learned that she has been leasing him out to someone who was mistreating him. Quite blatant dental issues because of the leaserā€™s harsh hands on the bit. It was disheartening to me because it was obvious she valued money more than the welfare of her horses.
I switched barns after that, in hopes to find a better place to eventually start showing. I do not show because it is not really something I want, nor can I afford it; I take lessons because I do not have a horse of my own and this is really my only passion. But in order to prove I was serious about riding I felt I had to start showing. This new trainer was going well in the beginning. The only catch was her lessons were way more expensive for way less time. I thought this would be better as long as she was more professional. Well, it turns out my old trainer was also in kahoots with these ones. Thankfully, I never saw her; it wouldā€™ve been awkward.
I got a bit more freedom to tack up but was still kept on an otherwise tight leash. I rode the same horse majority of the time, again very old, very slow. I would not have a problem with either of these things if I was a beginner, but Iā€™m not. This trainer was a college student, who I felt was simply trying to finagle me for money too. She would discreetly vape during lessons, which I thought was hilarious. She took phone calls and had conversations. She would charge for ā€˜anatomyā€™ lessons after calling a rain check and having me come out? (Arena was either too wet or cold) Coincidentally on one of these anatomy lessons, she brandished a wall of twisted bits, saying these are only for the naughtiest of horses. She would act as if I was excelling, yet in the next lesson weā€™d do something totally rudimentary on the same horse. I have to clarify because I donā€™t want to seem ungrateful, Iā€™m appreciative of my lessons but when Iā€™ve been doing the same thing for so long it starts to feel like Iā€™m going nowhere/being taken advantage of. My legs were routinely aching after lessons because I spent the majority trying to get the horse to be active.
It makes me feel like Itā€™s my fault and makes me unmotivated to even continue the sport. I donā€™t have many things that actually make me happy and at this point I feel like selling all of my equipment and quitting. Although I love it, itā€™s just starting to get too expensive and not worth it. I donā€™t know how to find a good trainer without spending hundreds of dollars. And even if I did, how do I know theyā€™re not corrupt? (Sorry this is so long, I hope someone reads it.)

2024.05.14 03:10 SplittyDev [Recruiting] [iOS/macOS] Voqab - Language Self-Learning App

I've been working on a new vocabulary self-learning app and could really use your help to test it out! Hereā€™s what itā€™s all about:

Features:

Currently, the app is mainly tailored to Asian languages, with extensive support for Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Thai. Western languages with extensive support are English and Estonian (Eesti).
Depending on feedback and how much time I have that's not purely spent on bug-fixing and improving existing features, I'll add support for more popular languages very soon.
And just as not to mislead anyone: This is not an app with curated courses like Memrise or Duolingo, nor is it a purely flashcard-based app such as Anki.
With Voqab, I'm trying a novel and unique approach: You add your own words as you're learning them using other sources such as books, YouTube videos or other apps, but the app uses the best spaced-repetition algorithm available (FSRS 4.5) based on the latest research and will help you memorize these words much more effectively.
Additionally, the app knows a lot about the language you're learning, and it will be able to give you automatic links to relevant online dictionaries, suggest an automatic romanization for Asian languages, understand particles for select languages and show them in sentence analysis, provide language-specific learning resources and help you getting a good feel for the language using the typing trainer, cloze deletion test, word quiz and tiered mastery system.
Join the beta and help me make it awesome! https://testflight.apple.com/join/b0f8LlYm
Thanks!

2024.05.14 02:39 ilovecookieskillets Need a passion/purpose

More and more Iā€™ve been falling into my depression harder where itā€™s becoming much more of a climb to get out of it and things seem ever so pointless. Iā€™m in therapy, take medication for my depression, am active (I workout every day and am down nearly 50 pounds from my highest weight and am maintaining while building muscle with a personal trainer), eat well ( I eat high protein/high carb with an average 15-17% fat intake), take my dogs for a walk outside most days, have a job I do well at and pays ok, am in a stable and loving marriage, and socialize during my exercise fitness classes, as well as doing a coffee date once a week. I work from home along with my partner and life just feels so unlivable as my job doesnā€™t use up a lot of my energy (I rarely work a full day based on work I have) and can find weekends the hardest as it feels there is nothing to look forward too or do. We moved to a new city near beginning of 2023 that has a population of 14000/15000 so there isnā€™t always a lot to do outside of the breweries/bars and some watesnow sports. Iā€™m not a big drinker, and feel anxious on the water and usually hibernate during the winter. This city is known to have cliches of friend groups that I have heard from several people that have moved here and discussed how hard it is to make friends. I have tried bumble but most people ghost or donā€™t make an effort to meet/stop texting/donā€™t try to get to know one another. Iā€™ve never felt I had a best friend but Iā€™ve had friends but the ones I have have either moved away from the state or are 3+ hours away which has affected my feeling of being seen and wanted if that makes sense? I have my masters in a business specific area that I thought would make me happy, but Iā€™ve met retaliation, toxic workplaces and jobs that make me feel like I do more harm than good. Iā€™m in my late 20s and have no idea what I want to do, or what my purpose could be in life and thinking about staying alive until 30 sounds like an uphill battle. My therapist tells me Iā€™ll be truly happy when I can find that thing that fuels me but Iā€™ve tried and tried to find it. I took the career quizzes, talked to people, changed my major after undergrad for my masters and nothing has clicked. My partner has moved cities and even a state so I can have job opportunities that were ā€œsupposed to make me happyā€ which havenā€™t panned out. My partner makes much more than me, and is the reason Iā€™m even able to afford therapy/the health changes Iā€™ve made so with still having student loans if I was to go back to school it feels like this needs to be it and would have to be the final thing because I canā€™t keep messing up. I just donā€™t know what to do.

2024.05.14 01:46 BallMammoth5663 My (F24) friend only vents to me about her (F22) problems, what is the proper way to deal with this?

TLDR: not sure on whether friendships when youā€™re on your 20s do look like this but currently thinking in ways in which keeping this new friendship is worth it based on my whole thinking of ā€œIā€™ll always keep those who were close to me in my heart regardless of us drifting apartā€
I met this girl a couple of months back when I was in my home country trying to figure out my life. I had a ton of free time since I was working part time and she didnā€™t work so she also had a ton of time. We only became friends because we would go to the gym every day at the same day and our trainer would make us workout together and eventually all our talking led us to go out to eat, parties, friends, etc. We bonded over our shared messy family life, unhealthy attachment issues and coming out of bad relationships. We went on some trips together that gave us more to bond over but now Iā€™m out of my home country again and so is she. Weā€™ve kept our friendship due to us talking every day for over two hours while I work and she works. Itā€™s honestly not healthy given that it is distracting me for work but I am able to manage so why not.
We shared our messed up stories but we display them differently. She likes being the centre of attention and making people do as she pleases whereas I am more manipulative to get others to do what I want.
Weā€™ve been good to keep each otherā€™s terribles behaviours at bay, kind of like talking to someone and not being ashamed of that part of you.
My family got a puppy recently and Iā€™m the main caretaker which took a ton of attention out of this friendship and she publicly said she slightly resented the puppy for making me less available.
This friendship was based on both of us venting to each other but perhaps with me being more busy now, I realized she only complains. She would tell me sheā€™s excited about something and I could think how sheā€™s going to get mad at them and complain to me about them and that has indeed been the case. I have my hands full with the dog and my job so I have stopped talking to her in an effort to keep my mind clear and not feel overwhelmed in all areas of my life.
I donā€™t think this friendship is balanced but rather itā€™s been more of me trying to give advice, it failing and just being there for each other but I currently donā€™t have the energy to deal with problems that are not my own.
Does this mean the friendship is doomed, I am lacking compassion or should I be there for that person even when I feel I cannot be there for them?

2024.05.14 00:28 No-Palpitation-7672 WE DO NOT WANT RS3

Unfortunately I just learned about Jagexā€™s potential addition of aggression potions and prayer renewal potions coming to osrs, as well as the potential increase in power of endgame magic gear and nerf of the occult necklace. Now for some folks who have never played rs3, you may not know how bad it really is. Iā€™d like to introduce to you the concept of removing the FUN (money making and overall value) out of the early and mid-game content so that players who purchase bonds can power level their accounts with overpriced endgame consumables such as aggression potions and super prayer renewals.
This ends up hurting new and mid-game players in 2 ways.
1) players spending even more time farming monsters in the same spot with aggression potions (great for Jagex and endgame players) and taking up space where they would normally have to take breaks and allow other players to have a chance at that particular spot. 2) Could potentially trivialize one of the most reliable early to midgame money makers, farming ranarrs for prayer potions.
You see, the more stuff like this you add in to an MMO, the more the life gets sucked out of the game because the magic of these old games is actually in the OPPORTUNITIES that they give to the players in the early and mid-game game rather than everyone racing to the endgame content by purchasing as much overpriced garbage as possible, so that they can make the overpriced consumables themselves and sell them to low level players.
If youā€™re sitting here thinking ā€œwow this guy is a janitor, loser, idiot, etc.ā€ letā€™s take the time to reference 2 of our other favorite MMO franchises who have successfully ruined their games by taking out the early and mid game grinds.
World of Warcraft completely ruins any linear story they had left, adds level 70 boost instead of adding more midgame content and filling in story gaps for new players.
Guild Wars adds a level 80 boost for only $7 and completely ignores their stunning early and midgame. Allows the purchase of a mount at level 10 for irl money.
And finally, RuneScape 3. Completely trivializes ANY effective mid game money makers with a massive focus on endgame bossing, gear, and high skilling level requirements. The pressure to purchase a bond is much higher.
So, who hurt me? It was only some of the most trusted and greatest mmo franchises of all time. So please, leave the healthy core of the game alone. <3

2024.05.13 23:46 Expert-Pool1355 I say we all ban together

All of us (who are at least 18 years and above) should form groups and factions in our nearest cities so at the very least we can feel heard and okay. I noticed that when I have support I'm much better than when I'm on my own but I also noticed that some of you haven't experienced that yet and I feel it would really help your lives get better. I recently became a personal trainer and I noticed it gives me a reason to get up even though I hate people. If we got together 1 weekend a month and just talked we would realize how many of us there are and creat like a support group and maybe help each other with skills or whatever it is that we all can do for each other
Edit: Just seeing how many of you all are saying you would like an autistic pt is great I had no idea people were even looking for it in this group. If you have any questions just email me at insideinstinctjr@gmail.com Just make sure you put from reddit or something In the subject and I can give you a free consultation/two week plan for free You all have definitely motivated me to increase my reach ive just been posting flyers locally because I figured I wouldn't be able to win at the social media game but I'll just start posting more and try to grow from there

2024.05.13 23:45 reigningnovice 94 Feet of Game - Phil Handy - Any Experiences?

How is the app working for you?
Are there any other trainers who have apps with basketball help? I know PureSweat has an app but I think itā€™s only for you to make your own workout.
I also like how Phil just puts everything on there ā€¦ dribbling/defense/shooting.
I feel like other trainers make you buy a course for 1 specific skill (ball handling.. then another for shooting etc.)

2024.05.13 23:12 A-TierTutoring A Comprehensive Guide to the LSAT: Insights from a 174-Scoring 0L

Hey everyone! I thought I'd repost this on my new profile (previously u/-Legal-Eagle-) for your reference before it is removed from my old profile. Also, if you find my advice useful, please check out my profile for more advice or tutoring services. Feel free to comment or DM me if you need anything.
With my LSAT and law school admissions journey complete, I wanted to take the time to share my journey and hopefully provide some useful tips along the way. I'm sure you will have heard a lot of what I am about to say a thousand times over, but I thought it might be useful to provide a holistic and comprehensive guide that attempts to bring together some of the best advice that I have picked up throughout this process.
Also, this is meant for anyone and everyone including those who haven't even began to think about the LSAT and those with multiple official exams already under their belt. I am going to use some more specific LSAT jargon meant for those with some familiarity with the test, but there will be many general tips for everyone scattered throughout.
I would like to preface by saying that this is largely based on my own personal experience self-studying, tutoring, and working with others. Please consult with many different sources and do your due diligence as you consider each tip I provide. Without further ado, here is my humble attempt at a guide to the LSAT.
When I first began the LSAT grind, I scored in the low 150s on my diagnostic exam, and while this was disheartening at first, I eventually achieved an official exam score of 174 after approximately 5 months of studying. Since I self-studied for the large majority of my journey, I found myself running into various obstacles and having to continuously refine my roadmap to success. Rather than go through the same process of trial and error that I went through, here is the roadmap outline that I would follow if I were to start all over again from blind diagnostic to test day success:
1. Start with a BLIND Diagnostic Exam:
While this might seem quite obvious to the more experienced of you, many beginners, including myself at the start of this process, do not know where to begin and might be stuck in a paradox of choice. The best way to get started is to take a completely blind practice exam. Try not to expose yourself to any LSAT study materials beforehand and go into the diagnostic exam knowing as little about the exam as possible. You might be tempted to study beforehand to avoid the disappointment of a low diagnostic score, but you must resist this temptation to avoid any misguided preconceptions or bad habits. Through this diagnostic, you will be able to truly identify your foundational strengths and weaknesses which you could and should revisit throughout your studying journey.
2. Decide on your plan of attack:
A mistake that many beginners make after deciding to take the LSAT is jumping into studying without having a structured and thoughtful plan, leading to inefficiencies, lack of focus, and inconsistency. One of the most important factors of success on this exam is the formation of good habits, and you cannot form good habits without a consistent, efficient, and disciplined study plan. There is no one size fits all approach to studying for this exam. However, here are some questions you should ask yourself to find the right plan for you:
What is your goal score? Your answer to this question depends on your long-term goals. Research which law schools would be most suitable for you based on their location, employment data, faculty, administration, student groups, journals, etc. After you put together a tentative list of law schools, look up what their median GPA and median LSAT is for their most recent enrolled class. If your undergraduate GPA (and law schools mainly care about your undergraduate GPA, so do not include any further education) is below their median GPA, then you should probably aim to surpass their median LSAT by at least a few points. However, if your undergraduate GPA is at or above their median GPA, then you should still aim to surpass their median LSAT, but you will still be in a strong position if you score at their median LSAT. After this research, you should have a goal score range by which you can gauge your progress and adjust your studying.
What is your timeline for taking the exam? Setting a timeline for your studying is important to staying focused and disciplined. Decide on which official exam you will be sitting for and then make a study schedule that allows for at least 150-300 hours of studying leading up to the exam. For example, if you are planning to take the August exam, you have approximately 13 weeks to study. Hence, you should dedicate yourself to studying 15-25 hours per week until the exam. Of course, the number of total hours you study depends on your diagnostic score and your goal score, as well as how quickly you progress while studying. If you find that halfway through your study schedule, your score has not substantially improved or you still have to make significant progress to reach your goal score, you may decide to ramp up your study time to 30 hours per week. The most important step here is that you commit to consistent study time, and that you remain flexible as you gauge your progress throughout the journey.
What learning styles/mediums work best for you? This is a matter of both preference and accessibility. Not all learning resources are equally available to everyone. However, many learning programs and materials are becoming increasingly affordable, giving everyone at least some choice in their method of study. Most importantly, you should do research into what your options are and weigh them accordingly. There are a variety of LSAT books available both new and used including but not limited to the LSAT Trainer, the Loophole, and the PowerScore Bibles. Of course, using a book requires a higher degree of discipline and self-accountability. On the other hand, there are a variety of online programs as well which provide a similarly structured curriculum and will even integrate your personal study schedule such as 7Sage and the LSAT Demon. You may even be able to find a relatively inexpensive tutor through Reddit or Wyzant if you require a bit more external accountability or a more personalized approach.
Lastly, what study methods are most effective for you? Everyone should incorporate a mix of foundational concepts, drilling, and practice in their studying, but it's important to recognize which method is most effective for you. Perhaps you find taking PTs (practice tests) garner the greatest score increases. Hence, you should dedicate more study time to taking PTs. Throughout your journey, you should constantly be aware of which study methods are most effective and adjust accordingly.
Once you have definitively answered these questions, you will have prepared yourself to optimize your study time and decrease your exam anxiety. Those preparing for the LSAT might be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of content and their limited timeline, but, by crafting a practical and efficient study plan, you wonā€™t be inundated with content and will be assured that you are making the best use of your time.
3. Learn the Material:
Now that youā€™ve set yourself up for success, itā€™s time to actually sit down and do the work. In the following, Iā€™ll outline some of what I found to be the most important strategies and concepts for each section of the exam:
Logical Reasoning:
Logical Reasoning is the core of the LSAT. The lessons learned from this section are essential throughout the exam and need to be learned inside and out. To succeed in this section, you need to learn the language of the test makers, argumentation. Every question contains an argument, and you need to be able to translate those arguments by learning to identify their building blocks: background information, premises, sub-conclusions, and conclusions. Once youā€™re fluent in argumentation, every stimulus becomes substantially easier to simplify and understand. Second, your argumentation toolbox is not complete without the ability to identify flaws in argumentation. A large proportion of the arguments put forward in LR questions are not foolproof, in fact, some of them are really bad. Additionally, these arguments are only flawed in a limited number of ways, and you need to be able to identify each of the fallacies that the test makers have at their disposal such as ad hominem, causation, and circular reasoning flaws. The ability to identify these flaws will allow you to answer the majority of questions on the exam since, by knowing the flaw, you will be better able to attack it, resolve it, or point it out. Last, but not least, know your question types. There are only a limited number of question types that the test makers will put forward and you can easily look up what these question types are. For each question type, you should have a unique approach and understand what reoccurring signals to look for in the stimulus and answer choices. While I wonā€™t repeat this for the other sections, this is true of every section.
Reading Comprehension:
You will hear from many people that reading comprehension is the hardest section to learn, and this is true in some sense. Success in this section relies on skills that are developed throughout oneā€™s education. However, there are many strategies that can boost your performance and bolster your skills. Developing a reliable shorthand/note-taking system is a priority when learning this section. A shorthand system can reduce the time you spend on questions and also allow you to better retain crucial details. Your system depends on your preferences, strengths, and weaknesses, and discovering your approach will require some trial and error as you test different note-taking strategies. For me, I would write a very short (4-5 words) summary of each paragraph as I finished reading it. I would also utilize the LSAC interfaceā€™s highlighters to color code different components of the passageā€™s argument (e.g., orange = conclusion/main idea). This system was designed in order for me to easily distill the most important aspects of the passage and allow me to easily reference the text for smaller details. Thereā€™s no way of getting around this next obstacle though and it has to be faced head on: your reading speed. Reading comprehension requires a balance between reading speed and information retention (i.e., the faster you read, the less information you retain and vice versa). However, if you can increase the speed at which you read without sacrificing any information, there is no downside. That is why Iā€™d recommend reading non-LSAT material in your free time through magazines, novels, and newspapers. Of course, this will help you to both increase your reading speed and your reading stamina. Lastly, this next tip that I utilized during every reading comprehension section I took is more focused on your mindset when approaching the section. No matter what the substance of the article, convince yourself mentally that you are incredibly interested in the subject matter. It may be difficult to trick yourself into enjoying some of the drier topics, but simply telling myself that I wanted to know more about the subject and actively asking questions about the material led to increased focus and closer analysis.
Logic Games:
If you are registered for the June LSAT, then this especially applies to you. If you are planning to take the exam at a later date, you will not have a logic games section, but you should still read the following. These skills as well as previously mentioned skills/tips apply across the entire exam and do not exclusively apply to any one section. First, master formal logic. Your mastery over the rules of formal logic and your ability to apply them is the difference between -5 and -0 on logic games. When I say master, I mean that if someone were to wake you up in the middle of the night and ask you to identify the necessary and sufficient condition in ,ā€I will not go outside unless it is sunnyā€, you should be able to answer in under five seconds. This will allow you to easily unravel and represent convoluted language in a significantly more understandable and digestible way. Along with this, develop a foolproof diagramming method that does not consume too much time but also is easily understood in a high-pressure environment. Before I had perfected my diagramming, I would often represent rules, game boards, and pieces in a confusing manner which led to me forgetting about certain aspects of the game or misapplying a rule. Your game diagrams should be compact and excessively clear in what they represent. Logic games are already difficult as is so do not make it more difficult by making a confusing diagram. Last but not least, make deductions. I have heard that some people choose to make deductions as they work through the questions, but I found it much easier to make as many deductions as possible before jumping into the questions. At first, I struggled to uncover key inferences which led to wasted time and wrong answers. However, after diagramming a game, I began to move through each rule one by one, and examined how each interacts with the game board as well as every other rule. Another rule of thumb for making inferences is identifying rules in which a game piece repeats (e.g., ā€œA is before Bā€ and ā€œB is before Cā€ both include B) and seeing if you can uncover any resulting conclusions.
These tips are in no way exhaustive, but I hope that they provided a good overview to guide your studying and help you make incremental improvements.
Step 3: PRACTICE
Now that you have learned all of the fundamentals of each section, itā€™s time to put them to use. After all, learning all of this material is pointless if you canā€™t apply it on test day. Practice is an essential component of your test preparation for two primary reasons. First, it allows you to develop a standardized routine. When I say routine, I mean every logistical/strategic aspect of the exam including but not limited to your pre-exam preparation, your logic games diagramming method, your reading comprehension note-taking/shorthand method, time management strategies, and more. You should have deliberated upon, tested, and habituated each of these routines prior to your official exam by implementing them during PTs under test-day conditions. The LSAT is already a very stressful exam so you do not want to waste the precious time you have on exam day thinking about how you should annotate a reading comprehension passage, for example, and tinkering with different strategies. No, your strategies should already be tried and true on exam day. Second, if you never practice taking the exam, you will never know where you need to improve. Taking PTs are incredibly important as they allow you to evaluate your progress and signal which concepts, sections, or questions you need to work on or revisit.
Now, how should you practice? Thereā€™s no getting around it. You need to take practice exams under simulated official exam conditions. Set a timer for each section, take the required break between sections, and only use the equipment that will be allowed on test day (i.e., authorized computer, water, scrap paper, writing utensils, etc.). This is the only way for you to estimate how you will perform on test day and accustom yourself to the conditions of the official exam. I completed approximately 2-3 practice exams every week leading up to my official exams. It is even better if you save the more recent practice exams for the week or two before your official exam since those are going to be most similar to your exam. However, it is important that you do not just mindlessly take practice exams which leads me to my next point: blind review.
I know, I know, blind review is extremely time consuming and tedious, but it was essential to my success on this exam. If you do not know what blind review is, it is basically when you do not reveal the correct answers of a practice exam after you have completed it, but instead complete the exam over again by checking and revising your answers. At the end of this process, you will have two scores: your actual score and your blind review score. The main reason for this is that you will now be able to see more clearly where your weaknesses lie. If you corrected a previously incorrect answer during blind review, then you likely got it wrong due to the time constraint or testing anxiety rather than a fundamental misunderstanding of the question. If you failed to catch an incorrect answer during blind review, you need to make it your priority to fully understand your error, analyze the question, and then revisit the concept that the question covers.
Once your weaknesses are exposed during blind review, you can target those weaknesses by reviewing the conceptual material and then drilling the question/game/passage type. If you do not know what I mean by drilling, I mean that you can create and complete custom problem sets that focus on your weakness until you have addressed the weakness.
Step 4: Profit
Now it is time to take your official exam. First, you have to register for the exam and decide on whether you will take it in-person or online. There are benefits and drawbacks to each and you have to decide based on your personal circumstances. For the online format, you are going to need a very quiet room with a strong internet connection. You will need to remove all prohibited material from this room including books, posters, electronics, etc. Additionally, the online proctoring system can be quite a hassle and very finicky. It requires you to download a program prior to test day and then share your screen, video, and audio with a remote proctor. Proctors may interrupt your exam due to compliance issues (e.g., your face is not in full view). Additionally, there is a small but nonzero chance that your exam is placed under review due to suspected noncompliant activity during your exam period and possibly even canceled as a result of said review. However, there are obvious benefits to online testing. You can take the exam in the comfort of your own home if that is an option for you, and you generally have much more control over your environment. You take the exam on a computer of your choice that you are comfortable with. You use your own scrap paper and writing utensils. For the in-person format, there is little to no preparation required beforehand except for scheduling an appointment at a nearby test center and bringing a valid ID. You will be ushered into an office-like room filled with a number of small cubicles. In each cubicle, there will be a desktop with a monitor, mechanical keyboard, and mouse. There will be a pair of noise-canceling headphones, and you will also be given a booklet of scrap paper and writing utensils. A very compelling benefit of the in-person exam is that your exam is much less likely to be placed under review/canceled for suspicious activity. Your test session isnā€™t recorded and you do not have to connect with a remote proctor. You will not have to worry about the internet connection or whether or not your test-taking equipment is prohibited or not. Basically all you have to do is show up and take the exam. However, there are definitely drawbacks to the in-person exam as well. You will be in a new environment that you are unfamiliar with. There will be the noise of the other test takers in the room with you typing on keyboards, clicking their mouse, coughing, sneezing, leaving/entering the room, etc. There are definitely inconsistencies between the testing centers as well. Some minor, but noticeable issues that I experienced during my in-person exam included audible conversations coming from outside of the room, dark orange scrap paper on which I could barely see pencil marks, dull/broken pencils provided by the testing center, and barely functional noise-canceling headphones. Do not expect the testing centers to be a perfect, controlled environment and anticipate issues/annoyances.
Once youā€™ve registered and exam day has arrived, it's time to do exactly what you practiced. I would not recommend that you make any last-minute changes to your testing routine/strategies. You have put so much work into perfecting your routine, and it would be a shame to throw that away when it really matters. After about 3 hours, youā€™ll have officially taken the LSAT. Congratulations! Now, it is a waiting game. Despite the exam taking place on a digital platform and being graded instantly, you will still have to wait about a month to receive your results. It is up to you whether you would like to continue studying during this wait depending on how you felt about your exam performance although I would keep any studying very light. Enjoy your well-deserved break.
Step 5: Score Release
Youā€™ve now waited for what feels like forever and you receive the score for your first official exam. If you reached your goal score, congratulations! You have now finished a crucial component of the law school admissions process. Youā€™re not done yet though. Itā€™s time to start thinking about putting together your law school applications (which I may write another guide about soon). If you did not reach your goal score, donā€™t worry! Appreciate the fact that you are now more familiar with the official exam process and jump right back into studying/practicing again. If you were very close to your goal score, then I would recommend registering for the soonest upcoming exam and focusing on practicing through drills and PTs. If you were quite far away from your goal score, it might be worth evaluating your weakest sections/question types and jumping back into foundational concepts. Whatever you do, DO NOT cancel your first official exam. First, law schools only really care about your highest exam score, so do better on the next one and this one wonā€™t hurt you. Second, you need to have at least one non-canceled score in order to even apply to law school. Letā€™s say you cancel your first test and then do even worse on your second test, then what? I would only recommend canceling a score if it is not your first exam (and you did not cancel your first exam) and it is lower than one of your other scores (e.g., you scored a 165 on your first exam and then a 162 on your second).
The End!
I know that was a lot. I could probably think of more to write, but you are probably already overwhelmed with information so Iā€™ll leave the rest to you. I want to reiterate that these are all tips that Iā€™ve picked up over my studying journey and I cannot guarantee a score increase based solely on these tips. After all, the most important thing is that you put in the work yourself and do your own due diligence to find what works best for you. If you have read everything up until now, you may be certifiably insane (the mark of a great law student) and thank you so much for considering what I have had to say. Remember that this is just a small part of your journey. Your LSAT score is not only just a single part of your law school applications, but it is an even smaller part of your career in the legal profession. I am not diminishing the importance of the exam, but please maintain a sensible perspective when you are feeling stressed and anxious about the LSAT. Make sure that you maintain a healthy work-life balance, keep pursuing hobbies and interests that you enjoy, and give yourself a break every once in a while. Your mindset and mental health is half the battle. See you in law school!

2024.05.13 23:10 BabsBabushka Assistance for Disabled Young Adults? (Feeling stuck in the suburbs)

I'm trying to figure out how to become more independent. Any ideas or resources very much welcomed.
I'm 22 going on 23 and living at home after losing my University scholarship because I wasn't able to manage a full-time course load due to my disabilities. I'm taking one or two classes each term online through a local CC, still working toward my bachelor's slowly.
I'm finding it difficult to thrive at home. I'm grateful for my family's help but I haven't been able to build a solid support network or get out into the community much. We don't live around any people my age and there isn't much to do. I don't have reliable access to a vehicle and our public transit isn't good. I enjoy many hobbies but everyday still feel like an eternity.
I've had a very difficult time finding appropriate work. I'm not able to work full-time and most entry level positions aren't at all appropriate for someone with my special needs. I've been looking for over a year and had several interviews but haven't had any luck. No one wants me.
I have my own pet-sitting business. I really love animals and want be a dog trainer while I finish school. I like working for myself because I need a lot of flexibility. But I don't make much at all. Certainly not enough to get a car or an apartment.
I'd like to feel more independent. I'm growing quite depressed here, stagnant and disconnected. And guilty at the same time for disliking my circumstances even though it could be so much worse.
I want to work, make money, see different places and meet new people. I want to support myself so I'm in control of my own decisions. Almost all my decisions are made for me purely due to circumstances outside of my control. Sometimes it feels like I'm not living my own life. I exercise my autonomy in every way I can but it hasn't made a huge difference.
I'm not sure if there's anything available to give people like me a chance to be more independent. My disabilities have greatly affected my ability to find appropriate work or educational opportunities. It certainly hasn't been for lack of trying. Let me know what you think.
I really hope I don't sound entitled or ungrateful.

2024.05.13 22:55 sometinsometinsometi All the various ways you can exploit Morrowind.

I finished Morrowind + DLC and I figure this is a good way to end my time and share what I learned. I'm sure there's some I forget or didn't find. Feel free to share.
Have to add this one. 100 Jump 1 second. No slow fall. 100 or 120 (no damage) acrobatics.
I think there's the easy examples. Fortify Intelligence and make Intelligence potions. Drink Intelligence potions. Make more Intelligence potions. Then start making other potions. 125% reflect. Fortify attribute potions. Levitation + Speed. I kind of hate admitting this, but after I was done having fun with super potions, I still used Feather potions and detect enchantment for the rest of the game.
A subcategory is Fortify Fatigue. Most of Morrowind's formulas factory in fatigue so once you fortify fatigue by x5 your maximum and beyond things get crazy. Your jumps get bigger. You move faster. Every attack hits. Every attack against you misses. Every persuasion check works. Once it gets high enough merchants will starting giving you things for 1 gold and trainers will train you for 1.
Then there's calm person. A calmed person will let you do almost anything to them. Drain Personality + Luck. Drain Merchantile for even cheaper training/trading.
Fortify Skill in general. 100% enchanting chance (granted the base formula is unfair even at 100 int, 100 enchant). More effective potions without even requiring Int looping. Turn any trainer into a master trainer with a +60 fort skill on touch.
Drain Attribute. No humanoid can even be a challenge with this. Drain Strength 100 over 1 second stops them from moving. Drain Agility makes ever hit work and knock them down. Drain Intelligence disables any mage. Drain Personality + Luck makes them basically give you money. I never found huge use for Drain Skill, other than drain mercantile for cheap training + trading.
Chameleon. Once you get enough agility, you can start doing almost anything to anyone with 100% chameleon. Stealing obviously. Enemies don't know how to fight back and run away. You can mess with guilds and even cast spells on them without risking expulsion. Even something as small as 20% chameleon lets you easily sneak up on enemies for x4 sneak attacks. Makes assassination easy. Each instance stacks so a 80 chameleon with amulet of shadows and a 20 chameleon lets you access 100 chameleon easy.
Enchanting in General. 100 weakness to magic 1 sec + 100 drain health over 2 seconds in 50 ft is easily accessible once you get a fortify attribute spell. 100 drain strength over 50 ft too. Whatever custom spell lets you take out the 20 cliff racers chasing you. Let's you punch well above your weight when your damage is low or your skill level for magic schools are low. There's also constant enchantments that can more than double your strength, give you 100% chameleon (maybe too strong to be fun), 100% sanctuary, etc. With enchanting it takes some restraint not to make yourself too powerful.
