2024.05.14 18:12 Temporary_Novel_5212 Severe upper left abdominal pain, test results received but no idea what’s next

Could this be kidney stones?
Female, 40s - In pain while waiting to hear next steps from PCP. I received test results last night (see end of post), but PCP has not actually viewed them yet. Feel like I should be doing something but no idea what.
Summary of pain: Friday night felt achey gnawing pain under left ribs that radiated to left shoulder and down left arm. Assumed it was trapped gas after very heavy meal.
The pain was unchanged in the morning so took Gas-X. Eventually maxed out the recommend daily dose. Did lots of burping, but never experienced any relief of pain.
By Saturday afternoon pain was more focused under left rib cage, with flank pain and some tenderness to left of belly button. Periods of INTENSE spasms in upper left abdomen began. Felt like a squeezing and releasing in intestine but no idea what was actually happening. Painful spasms overwhelmed me with every attempt to get a good breath. The pain was SEVERE, the worst I’ve ever felt. I was screaming and begging for help during these episodes, which lasted about 5 minutes each.
This happened three times over a few hours, and each time I seriously considered calling an ambulance but didn’t because of fear of cost and that it would be determined to be “just gas.”
The underlying pain through all of this was constant. By Sunday morning I could no longer take a deep breath due to the severity of constant pain under left ribs, but the spasms didn’t return.
No appetite since Friday, but tried eating a bland meal Sunday evening. Drinking water after meal produced sudden intense pain and feeling of food moving in upper left abdomen. Thought maybe there was a blockage that was clearing. Wondering now if something was just inflamed. Pain only lasted a few seconds and was enough to make me gasp.
Bowel movements small and poorly formed throughout all this. Frequent urgent watery diarrhea started 3am Monday. I went to the doctor on Monday.
It’s now Tuesday, and I am still in terrible pain under my left ribs and into my left side. Cramping sensation with every shallow breath. Sneezing feels like something is tearing. I can’t even complete the sneeze without shouting from the pain. I can’t get a deep breath or cough without triggering sharp pain.
Experiencing occasional involuntary gasps, much like when you take shaky breaths while crying.
Blood oxygen is normal.
Possibly relevant: Two days before this began, I felt intense pulling and cramping in bladder. This came and went along with frequent urination (which exacerbated pain) for a few hours and then it was gone.
No fever. No vomiting. No history of health anxiety or emetephobia, but if I were to need to vomit at this point, I don’t know how I could with current pain level and the way it intensifies with deep breath or exertion. I am frightened.
Summary of doctor’s visit and tests:
Saw primary care doctor yesterday for physical exam. They ordered a urine test, upper left abdominal x-ray, and left lung x-ray.
Results:
ABDOMEN RADIOGRAPHY CLINICAL HISTORY: Acute onset LUQ pain 5/10, still persistant with loose stools, but no fever or vomiting. TECHNIQUE: 1 view. FINDINGS: Bowel Gas Pattern: Within normal limits. No dilated loops.
CHEST RADIOGRAPHY CLINICAL HISTORY: LUQ pain and decreased breath sounds at L lung base Left upper quadrant pain Other abnormalities of breathing. TECHNIQUE: 2 views. FINDINGS: Lungs/Pleura: Minimal left basilar parenchymal opacity. No pneumothorax or significant effusion. Mediastinum: Heart and mediastinal contours are unremarkable.
Urine (Urine, Clean Catch)
Color value: orange Clarity value: turbid pH: 5.5 Specific gravity: 1.019 Protein value: trace Blood value: 2+ Red blood cells value: 3-5 Bacteria value: few Mucus value: 2+ Amorphous crystals value: 2

2024.05.14 18:07 breannajoycee is my snail dead?

is my snail dead?
so this morning i walked out of my room and stepped on something, crunchy.. i look down and my mystery snail (sebastian, aka sebby) was on my floor! a bit of a ways from my tank.. (i have a TINY opening at the top of my tank near the filter, he's never tried getting out before) he could've only been out of the tank at the MOST 5 hours... i definitely crushed the upper portion towards his head... smell test was not smelly, and kinda flinched to touch on his foot. this was him a little bit ago. is he going to make it? or is he far too damaged? : ( i'm not sure what that whitish flesh is either, and he released some bubbles. should i take him out of the tank once i get home to avoid an ammonia spike?

2024.05.14 18:00 negligibleobserver DMV driving test hill stop and start

For anyone whose taken the driving test at the DMV to get a drivers license, I have a question about how to do a hill stop and start with a parking brake button that you push (not a foot emergency brake).
This is how the DMV driver’s manual says to do it:
“You will be instructed to drive to the right side of the road, stop, and then set your parking/emergency brake and shift to neutral. Be sure to signal right to tell others what you are doing. The parking/emergency brake must hold the vehicle from rolling back.
Before driving up the hill, put the vehicle in gear. Signal left. Check your mirrors, and left blind spot to be sure that traffic is clear. Accelerate gently until you feel the vehicle want to move and then release the parking brake to prevent any roll back, and look over your left shoulder once again before driving out. You should be able to drive up the hill without rolling back.”
My driving test is on Thursday. I’ve done this before in other cars with a foot emergency brake, but the car I will be using for the test has a parking brake button next to the steering wheel that you push. In order to disengage the parking brake, your foot has to be on the regular brake and then you push the button.
Does anyone know how I’m supposed to do a hill stop and start with my car? I’m kind of worried. Thank you in advance!

EXPLORATION
  • Juanicipio:
    • Infill drilling at Juanicipio continued in Q1 2024 from underground aimed at upgrading mineralization in areas expected to be mined in the near to mid-term. During Q1 2024, 11,271 metres were drilled from underground.
    • Surface drilling focused on expanding and upgrading the deeper zones and broader regional exploration started in April 2024.
    • During 2024, Juanicipio plans to drill a total of 50,000 metres, with 33,000 metres from underground and 17,000 metres from surface.
  • Deer Trail Project, Utah:
    • On May 29, 2023 MAG started a Phase 3 drilling program focused on up to three porphyry “hub” target areas thought to be the source of the manto, skarn, epithermal mineralization and extensive alteration throughout the project area including that at the Deer Trail and Carissa zones. In late 2023 an early onset of winter snowfall impacted the commencement of the third porphyry “hub” target, which is now expected to be drilled in 2024. The two completed “hub” holes to date total 2,738 metres. Both holes intercepted alteration and mineralization in line with what is expected on the edges of porphyry systems. Follow-up drill targets are planned for summer 2024.
    • With the early onset of snowfall, Phase 4 drilling focussed on lower elevations commenced in the last quarter of 2023 and continued through Q1 2024, aimed at offsetting the Carissa discovery and testing other high-potential targets in the Deer Trail mine area. During Q1 2024, 1,208 metres were drilled at Carissa with results pending.
  • Larder Project, Ontario:
    • Drilling targeting Cheminis and Bear totalled 5,391 metres in Q1 2024. Targets tested include down plunge extension of the high-grade double knuckle at the Bear East zone and extending the Cheminis south mine sequence down plunge.
    • Cheminis Update: Follow-up drilling of the Cheminis South Cadillac-Larder Break (“CLD”) mine sequence down plunge is planned to test below the most recent intercepts. Hole GAT-24-026 intersected a new zone on the north side of the CLB within a fuchsite-silica-albite altered komatiite grading 3.9 g/t gold over 16 metres with 2 higher grade shoots associated with albite dykes (see Table 1 below).
    • Bear Update: Utilizing the updated model and incorporating the updated data from recent drilling, the Bear East zone was successfully extended down plunge by up to 1,100 metres depth. Hole GAT-24-024NB intersected gold mineralization on both sides of the CLB which confirms the presence of either another structural trap at depth or the continuation of the “double knuckle” zone at surface. Gold mineralization intersected on the north zone included 9.4 g/t gold over 2.2 metres within a strongly altered komatiite with syenite intrusions and 1.6 g/t gold over 4.2 metres on the south zone within the south iron-rich volcanics (see Table 1 below). Bear East remains open in all directions.

(1) Equivalent silver head grades have been calculated using the following price assumptions to translate gold, lead and zinc to “equivalent” silver head grade: $23/oz silver, $1,950/oz gold, $0.95/lb lead and $1.15/lb zinc (Q1 2023: $21.85/oz silver, $1,775/oz gold, $0.915/lb lead and $1.30/lb zinc).
(2) Equivalent silver payable ounces have been calculated using realized price assumptions to translate gold, lead and zinc to “equivalent” silver payable ounces (metal quantity, multiplied by metal price, divided by silver price). Q1 2024 realized prices of $23.73/oz silver, $2,112.27/oz gold, $0.92/lb lead and $1.08/lb zinc (Q1 2023 realized prices of $22.93/oz silver, $1,959.50/oz gold, $0.94/lb lead and $1.43/lb zinc).
During the three months ended March 31, 2024 a total of 325,081 tonnes of ore were mined. This represents an increase of 45% over Q1 2023. Increases in mined tonnages at Juanicipio have been driven by the operational ramp up of the mine towards steady state targets.
During the three months ended March 31, 2024 a total of 325,683 tonnes of ore were processed through the Juanicipio plant; no ore was processed at the nearby Fresnillo and Saucito processing plants (100% owned by Fresnillo). This represents an increase of 47% over Q1 2023. The increase in milled tonnage has been driven by the Juanicipio mill commissioning and operational ramp up to nameplate capacity over the course of 2023.
The silver head grade and equivalent silver head grade for the ore processed in the three months ended March 31, 2024 was 476 g/t and 713 g/t, respectively (three months ended March 31, 2023: 363 g/t and 530 g/t, respectively). Head grades in Q1 2023 were lower as low-grade commissioning stockpiles were processed through the Juanicipio plant. Silver metallurgical recovery during Q1 2024 was 89.1% (Q1 2023: 87.0%) reflecting ongoing optimizations in the processing plant.
The following table provides a summary of the total cash costs 5 and all-in sustaining costs 5 (“AISC”) of Juanicipio for the three months ended March 31, 2024, and 2023.

Equivalent silver ounces sold have been calculated using realized price assumptions to translate gold, lead and zinc to “equivalent” silver ounces sold (metal quantity, multiplied by metal price, divided by silver price). Q1 2024 realized prices of $23.73/oz silver, $2,112.27/oz gold, $0.92/lb lead and $1.08/lb zinc (Q1 2023: $22.93/oz silver, $1,959.50/oz gold, $0.94/lb lead and $1.43/lb zinc).
Financial Results
The following table presents excerpts of the financial results of Juanicipio for the three months ended March 31, 2024 and 2023.
https://preview.redd.it/4zym5dqzze0d1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=d25c91cabc7f6c6b35ff61acacc0160f3dfac2e7
Sales increased by $72,207 during the three months ended March 31, 2024, mainly due to 179% higher metal volumes and 2% higher realized metal prices.
Offsetting higher sales was higher production cost ($9,409) which was driven by higher sales and operational ramp-up in mining and processing, including $3,545 in inventory movements, and higher depreciation ($14,083) as the Juanicipio mill achieved commercial production and commenced depreciating the processing facility and associated equipment in June 2023. Operating margin increased by 21% to 52%, mainly due to operational leverage and the lower reliance on the nearby Fresnillo and Saucito processing facilities.
Other expenses increased by $2,159 mainly as a result of higher extraordinary mining and other duties ($872) in relation to higher precious metal revenues from the sale of concentrates and higher consulting and administrative expenses ($2,690) as an operator services agreement became effective upon initiation of commercial production (the “Operator Services Agreement”), offset by lower exchange losses and other costs ($1,566).
Taxes increased by $20,980 impacted by higher taxable profits generated during Q1 2024, and non-cash deferred tax credits related to the commencement of use of plant and equipment in Q1 2023.

2024.05.14 17:54 Joshh170 Xbox Insider Update Could Make Downloading Future Updates Easier

Xbox Insider Update Could Make Downloading Future Updates Easier
Microsoft is preparing to roll out a new update for Xbox console owners, one which might improve the experience of updating an installed game on the Xbox Series X/S. The Xbox console update is being tested via Microsoft's Xbox Insider program.
The modern game environment is one of constant updates and iteration. As all but the smallest retro consoles can be expected to connect to the internet these days, publishers, developers, and platform makers continuously release updates through patches, hotfixes, and scheduled additions for players to download. Even older games can get updates that significantly change the way they play. For example, Fallout 4 received an update to improve its performance on hardware and consoles that didn't exist when the game first released.
The latest Xbox console update might make the experience of managing a game's updates a little more convenient for Xbox Series X/S owners. According to a post on the Xbox support page, Microsoft is testing a new update that will introduce pre-downloading game updates, or downloading of the majority of an installed game's files and data to a player's hardware before that data is officially released and usable. This will allow games that support the feature to download necessary files early. Then, players can immediately install updates on release day and more quickly begin playing. These may include periodic updates to live service titles, like Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, but the first game that will support update pre-loading is Sea of Thieves, via the game's own Insider program.
Microsoft's Xbox system update is available through the Xbox Insider Program, within the program's exclusive Alpha Ring. The Xbox Insider Alpha Ring puts new system updates and features through closed alpha testing and is only open to those invited by Microsoft itself. Larger Xbox Insider Program testing rings may receive the update later as bugs are worked out and the update moves from alpha into beta phase. Microsoft's post did not specify when the update would be released to the wider population. Previous Xbox system updates have included fixes to bugs and alterations to the user experience. The most recent Xbox system update was mainly focused on fixing audio issues when playing.
The pre-loading feature is common on both consoles and PC in the realm of digital games, where players can start downloading game files before their release date in order to be able to play as soon as possible after they're officially launched. The increasing size of blockbuster video games like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and others necessitates pre-loading as a convenience feature for players who may have slower internet connections or limited time in which to download games. It makes sense that that convenience be extended to updates, too, as they balloon in size.

2024.05.14 17:52 theflyhitterss Blank Check covered films that played at Cannes! (2024 Update)

Another edition of Cannes Film Festival is starting today, premiering tons of new films that certainly will dominate the minds and hearts of cinephiles around the world for the next months and years - and of course, discurse in this community...
So, to celebrate this magical time, as I did last year I compiled of list for movies covered by the Blank Check gang that had their world premiere or European premire at the Croisette. As you will see, its a fascinating bunch of films.
Quick notes:
  1. The list it's most comprised of main feed episodes & director filmographies, with an exception for bonus episodes on Patreon, didn't count the franchises on Special Features (so no Oceans 13 here);
  2. I only counted movies which premiered at Cannes at the time of release, discounted retrospective screenings and the Cannes Classics sidebar, so that's why Carpenter, Kubrick & Keaton don't have films here.
So, here's the list:
George Lucas:
Attack of the Clones (2002, out of the competition)
Revenge of the Sith (2005, out of competition)
Lily & Lana Wachowski:
The Matrix Reloaded (2003, out of competition)
James Cameron:
Ghosts of the Abyss (2003, out of competition)
Steven Spielberg (Post 1st Oscar Era):
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of Crystal Skull (2008, out of competition)

Michael Mann:
Thief (1981, in competition)
Jonathan Demme:
Something Wild (1987, out of competition)
George Miller:
Mad Max Fury Road (2015, out of competition)
Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022, out of competition)
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga (2024, out of competition)

The Little Mermaid (1990, out of competition)
John Singleton:
Boyz N' the Hood (1991, Un Certain Regard)
Jane Campion:
Two Friends (1986, Un Certain Regard)
Sweetie (1989, in competition)
The Piano (1993, in competition. Campion won the Palm D’or, tied with Chen Kaige for Farewell My Concubine – and the 1st movie Blank Check covered to do so)
Bright Star (2009, in competition)
Top of the Lake: China Girl (2017, out of competition)
Sam Raimi:
(Worth noting that The Evil Dead had his notorious exibition in the 1982 festival that sealed the fame the movie got, but since it wasn’t programmed in none of the sidebars and probably was a market screening I separated from the list)
The Quick and the Dead (1995, out of competition – closing film)
Drag Me to Hell (2009, out of competition)
Bob Fosse:
Sweet Charity (1969, out of competition – opening film)
Lenny (1975, in competition. Valerie Perrine won the award for Best Actress)
All That Jazz (1980, in competition. Fosse won the Palm d’or, tied with Kurosawa for Kagemusha. 2nd Palme D'or winner covered by Blank Check!)
Danny Boyle:
(Shallow Grave was screened at the 1994 festival, but it was a market session, outside the oficial programming)
Trainspotting (1996, out of competition)
Park Chan-Wook:
Oldboy (2004, in competition. Park won the Gran Prix)
Thrist (2009, in competition. Park won the Jury Prize, tied with Andrea Arnold for Fish Tank)
The Handmaiden (2016, in competition)
Decision to Leave (2022, in competition. Park won the award for Best Direction)
David Fincher:
Zodiac (2007, in competition)
David Lynch:
Wild at Heart (1990, in competition. Lynch won the Palme D’or. 3rd Palme D’or Winner covered by Blank Check!)
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992, in competition)
The Straight Story (1999, in competition)
Mulholland Drive (2001, in competition. Lynch won the award for Best Direction, tied with the Coen Brothers for The Man Who Wasn’t There)
Twin Peaks: The Return (2017, out of competition)
Odd ones, One-offs:
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018, out of competition)
Of course, if the reference at the Millenium Actress episode will pan out, Horizon: An American Saga (premiering out of competition at this year festival) could be a future episode. If it's not a jest from the one and only Griffin Newman...

2024.05.14 17:33 BitEquivalent3133 VERSES AI ($VERS) Sets New Standards in AI with Benchmark Tests

VERSES AI ($VERS), a cognitive computing company, is continuing to make big strides in AI. They’ve introduced a research roadmap that outlines the key milestones and benchmarks. This roadmap could revolutionize the development of AI by providing clear goals to measure the progress and importance of $VERS's research and development endeavors.
The company plans to use this roadmap this year to monitor its AI progress. Basically, it wants to check whether its approach can be as good as or better than advanced AI models on various industry tests, all while using less data and energy.
By meeting these benchmarks, VERSES can prove that they can create AI that is better, cheaper, and faster. The end goal is to get their AI into more hands through their Genius Platform.
Research Roadmap Highlights:
VERSES’ research roadmap has 3 benchmarks: Classification and generation tasks, Atari 10k Challenge, and NeurIPS 2024 Melting Pot Challenge
The first benchmark, Classification and generation tasks, focuses on proving VERS's approach is better at tasks like recognizing images and creating new ones. By utilizing advanced Bayesian inference techniques, they are trying to show that their method has the ability to outperform traditional deep learning methods. This test is important because it shows whether VERSES can make top-quality AI while being more efficient.
The second benchmark, the Atari 10k Challenge, is all about testing VERSES' AI skills in playing video games. Unlike conventional methods that need a lot of gameplay data, VERSES is trying to play video games almost like a human but with way less practice. $VERS is using active inference to help their AI be super adaptable. And by doing this, they're hoping to raise the bar for how well AI can perform in gaming
Lastly, there’s the NeurIPS 2024 Melting Pot Challenge. This is all about testing how well VERSES' can handle tricky situations where lots of different AI systems need to work together. $VERS wants to show that their AI can understand these complicated situations and work smoothly with other AI systems. Through the use of active inference and explicit representational structures, VERSES aims to become a leader in creating AI systems that can collaborate effectively and tackle complex problems together.
$VERS publicly released this roadmap so the public can track their progress. The roadmap can be accessed here: www.verses.ai/rd-overview
Note: this is not financial advice please do your own research before investing.

2024.05.14 17:32 alphariusomega123 I'm so sick of people's stupid nerfs to Superman that's why I'm making this post (long post).

I'm so sick of people's stupid nerfs to Superman that's why I'm making this post (long post).
Were Kryptonians only planet busters in the Post Crisis?
Short answer absolutely not, long answer: let's explain this false belief.
This post arises because, among other things, in several blogs and YouTube channels and tik tokThis is a very common myth. It is often mistakenly believed that Superman is a hero who is only limited to protecting the Earth and who moves on planetary scales, but the truth is that in the more than 80 years of the character's history, he has traveled to all kinds of places both within their own universe as well as outside it, and even outside their multiverse. The same can be applied to his cousin Kara.
Without going any further, since the beginning of the 90s, DC's own writers have declared that Superman's adventures move on a cosmic scale, putting at risk not only the fate of the world, but often that of the galaxy or even the universe. So the idea of Superman as someone limited to saving Metropolis and little else is wrong., it is stated that in DC's post-crisis continuity, Superman and the rest of the Kryptonians who escape from him only possess a destructive power that reaches planetary (or multi planetary) at its maximum.
which is absolutely false and we'll see because, although this publication will be focused for the moment on the post-crisis, I will also make one for the new 52 that is also nerfed horribly.
Without further ado let's get started.
1) "SUPERMAN TENDS TO MOVE AT PLANETARY SCALES":
This is a very common myth.
So the idea of Superman as someone limited to saving Metropolis and little else is wrong.
https://imgur.com/a/8t9bwdj
2) "KRYPTONIANS HAVE A DIFFICULT DESTROYING PLANETS":
If there is one thing that has been consistent throughout the Post Crisis period, it is how Kryptonians like Superman or Supergirl can achieve planet-level feats quite casually. Let's review some examples:
  • In just his first year as a superhero, Superman took down a monster with the strength of a planet in one fell swoop.
https://imgur.com/a/Q84cIqS
-According to Batman at the end of the Emperor Joker arc, Superman could juggle planets if he wanted to.
https://imgur.com/a/NDLoiZC
  • A Kryptonian teenager who has absorbed a modicum of yellow sunlight can easily tear a planet in two in a tantrum, according to Superman.
https://imgur.com/a/sjk1FAE
  • Even after being without sunlight for an extended period, Superman is still capable of destroying a planet with a mere leap.
https://imgur.com/a/KsXhMXT
  • Superman destroyed multiple stars in the Galactic Golem dimension without problems and also withstood the explosion of the dimension that housed them.
https://imgur.com/a/N5VxIzF
  • Both Supergirl and Superman emerged unscathed from the Kryptonite explosion on New Krypton, and the former was at the epicenter of the planet's explosion.
https://imgur.com/a/vVuxFPn
-Superman dragged the weight of the Earth, the Moon and a spaceship and it has also been said that he could move the Earth if he wanted to.
https://imgur.com/a/YxIUAa7
https://imgur.com/a/cBdlBp0
  • It was also said that Superman is among the beings capable of moving a planet with one hand
https://imgur.com/a/4tvlIff
...among other examples. So it is illogical to think that his limit is there.
3) "SUPERMAN NEEDED HELP TO MOVE THE EARTH AND THE MOON":
Not really. This happened on three occasions, and all three have a context behind them:
  • The first occurred in JLA #75. In this, the sorceress Gamemnae had previously killed the entire Justice League, reducing them to mere ghosts/skeletons that were not even a mere shadow of her original power. After this, Gamemnae would release all the water she had accumulated into space, altering the Earth's orbit, so the League would have to keep the planet in its orbit (and not move it, as people think). Even after being resurrected, the League was in a deplorable state, with Superman having to stop to absorb solar energy and even then he was not at his full power.
https://imgur.com/a/PQmQZa6
https://imgur.com/a/0XQsICz
https://imgur.com/a/5eEnSWH
  • The second took place in Justice League of America #29. Here Superman and Green Lantern are not moving the Earth (again), but fighting to keep it in its orbit (again) against the powerful gravitational pulse of Starbreaker, who was dragging it towards the Sun. Starbreaker is so powerful that it can drag entire galactic clusters with that same pulse and it was also becoming more and more powerful thanks to the negative emotions of the planet. And if this were not enough, Starbreaker had previously weakened Superman with red sun energy.
https://imgur.com/a/Uwr58Ig
https://imgur.com/a/77Mirm9
https://imgur.com/a/mgGFkJe
https://imgur.com/a/3UKvISM
  • The third and last was in JLA #58. The League had to do an extremely complicated maneuver with the Moon, dragging it as quickly as possible into the Earth's atmosphere to bring oxygen to the Moon and fill it with fire (all at high speeds), removing it at the last second. Not just move it. So it stands to reason that they would want as many hands on the task as possible. They were also quite injured and tired and subsequently suffered even more blows from the White Martians.
https://imgur.com/a/7hZ06Fh
https://imgur.com/a/cEY374Q
https://imgur.com/a/R8zvdVo
As we can see, the evidence normally used to claim that Superman needs help moving celestial bodies is not such, and even one of them, far from being a demerit, is in fact a remarkable feat against someone very powerful.
4) "BRAINIAC CLAIMED AT THE END OF OWAW THAT SUPERMAN DID NOT HAVE THE POWER TO MOVE A PLANET":
This is heavily taken out of context. What Brainiac-13 claimed was that Superman did not have the power to move HIS planet away from him, referring to the War World, which Brainiac had taken control of. This distinction is not mere semantics, since Brainiac-13 has just absorbed the universal energies of Imperiex with which he wanted to cause a new Big Bang that would destroy the current universe and replace it with another. These energies were going to allow Brainiac-13 to remodel the entire universe to his whim.
https://imgur.com/a/SBbc4lI
https://imgur.com/a/CgW145M
https://imgur.com/a/S6QhtCF
That Superman needed to overload himself with solar energy to face such an enemy is not strange if we take this into account. So managing to move the War World against Brainiac's will is a very high-level feat for Superman, not a demerit. Let's remember that Superman could not destroy the War World, because if he did this he would automatically activate Imperiex's Big Bang and destroy the universe.
https://imgur.com/a/uplJ0rD
https://imgur.com/a/uplJ0rD
5) "SUPERMAN WAS KNOWN BY A PLANETARY ATTACK AND A MOON EXPLOSION":
Once again we find two extremely decontextualized situations. Let's analyze them:
  • The first occurred in Superman/Batman #4. In this instance, we see how Hawkman supposedly knocks out Superman after hitting him with the claw of Horus, which extracted his power from the Earth's magnetic core. Said claw was a magical weapon, as Hawkman himself implies when asking Superman if he thinks he and Batman believe they invented castling.
https://imgur.com/a/maES4Y9
And Superman is vulnerable to magic, as we all know and as mentioned in the same instance, which makes this attack that much more devastating. But also in the next instance we discover that Superman and Batman allowed themselves to be captured to take them to Luthor, making Hawkman and Captain Marvel believe that they had defeated them. Which disproves that Superman was actually knocked out by Horus' claw.
https://imgur.com/a/hIs6WU6
https://imgur.com/a/E4cNnap
  • The second occurred in Justice League of America #30. Here, an 81-trillion-ton shadowy moon was approaching the solar system at 7,614,000 km/h, which would trigger a mass extinction event whether the moon impacted or not; so they needed to pulverize it, not simply destroy it. To accomplish this, Superman punches the moon with a fist of infinite mass, accelerating as close to the speed of light as possible with the intention of gathering enough mass to destroy the moon completely without causing danger to Earth.
https://imgur.com/a/UoT1tYs
https://imgur.com/a/fw4IedY
I don't know Superman's weight, but according to the DC wiki he weighs 107 kg (they don't cite sources). Accelerating at 0.99 c, that's 5.86x1019 Joules. The figure Batman gives for the moon's mass is incorrect, but assuming he's right, that would be 1.8x1026 Joules. Multiplying both energies, the result is an explosion of 1.06x1046 Joules or solar system. But if we use the real mass of the moon, it generated 1.43x1032 Joules, which multiplied by Superman's energy gives a result of 8.3x1051 Joules, well into the solar system+.

So this is indeed another feat that far exceeds the planet level. It is also interesting to mention that the substance of the creator of said moon (Shadow Thief) is an apparently infinite dimension and that with that same power, Starbreaker was able to fight and defeat Dharma, who kept two universes together.

6) FREQUENT REFUTATIONS TO SUPERIOR EXPLOITS:
Faced with the constant exposure of feats above the planet level (like the ones here), a series of preeminent refutations usually arise to try to disprove them, often dishonestly distorting the context of the original scene to give it a completely different meaning. These are the most common:
6.1) "The Nebula Man is not a living universe, because his size is not that of one"
A: Just because Neh-Buh-Loh is human-sized on the outside does not negate that it is a universe on the inside. In the same scan already shown from Seven Soldiers: Frankenstein, it is said that he is a sentient and mobile mass of malleable super-matter, indicating that his universe is scalable to his size; and in fact, in JLA: Classified (same story in which he confronts Superman), we are also shown its nature as a sentient universe and the Justice League traveling inside it (from which they come and go through boom tubes). ).
https://imgur.com/a/qFpZ23a
https://imgur.com/a/GYDphjd
https://imgur.com/a/wXWHUcS
In fact, in the aforementioned Seven Soldiers, it is revealed to us that if it were not for the Ultramarine Corps, Neh-Buh-Loh would have already grown to replace the current universe. This is therefore the same case as the Galactic Golem, which on the outside barely measured several meters, but on the inside it was a vast dimension with many planets and stars.

https://imgur.com/a/7wB5Zys
https://imgur.com/a/CJSPuN0
6.2) "Absorbing energy to vaporize half a galaxy does not count as resistance, it is a hax"
A: It's not just about the act of absorbing energy. In the same comic it is mentioned how said energy was anti-sunlight, that is, harmful to Superman. In fact, we are clearly shown Superman being damaged by said energy and Batman and Martian Manhunter initially believed that Superman had died trying to absorb it. So it's clearly scalable to the physical attributes of it.
https://imgur.com/a/jTizZ8h
https://imgur.com/a/1XBq9Ce
https://imgur.com/a/Y9gY9SE
6.3) "Superman did not move the Mageddon, he was just trying to free himself from the chains that held him while it tortured him"
A: Martian Manhunter himself explicitly mentions that Superman was turning the wheels of Mageddon. This is later confirmed, where Martian explains how Superman is now one of the components of the machine and is using his strength. On the other hand, if Superman was just being held against his will, there would be little point in him breaking the chains so easily when Batman managed to snap him out of the trance the Mageddon kept him in.
https://imgur.com/a/6P1uXbz
https://imgur.com/a/2IRf9Ps
https://imgur.com/a/jTizZ8h
6.4) "There is no mental limiter. Superman has been defeated on previous occasions and even died against Doomsday"
A: The limiter is subconscious, not conscious. Superman can't choose when he stops using it. At least not until he completed his training with Mongul. It is important to clarify that it is mentioned that his fight against Doomsday was the only time where he was able to free himself from the limiter.
https://imgur.com/a/GeFw1SQ
https://imgur.com/a/bFYi4tb
6.5) "The universal black hole was a dream, Superman wakes up in the following pages"
A: This is half true. Sure enough, Superman wakes up from the "sleep" in the following pages. However, just before that, Death clarifies the event as something real and explains that it took place within a plane where mind and matter intersect to shape dreams and turn them into reality. Let us also remember that in DC, dreams give birth to new universes, so it matters little even if we take what happened as a literal dream.
https://imgur.com/a/1l9YagO
https://imgur.com/a/fhE2MMw
6.6) "Superman did not receive the Suneater explosion, in fact, he had to escape from it"
A: This, on the other hand, is a complete lie. Superman received the explosion, as we can see in the panel; What he had to escape from was a cloud of red solar radiation born as a result, which Jonathan mentions would have incinerated him (not killed him) if it had reached him; Well, as we all know, red sunlight weakens Superman and deprives him of his powers. In fact, Superman had previously received several bursts of red solar radiation, making this feat even more impressive.
https://imgur.com/a/Ff1c327
https://imgur.com/a/Ff1c327
https://imgur.com/a/M72EsPn
6.7) "The solar system that Superman moved was barely the size of buildings while he moved it"
A: The solar system had not yet reached the size it would have according to the scale of our universe, but that does not mean that its mass was proportional to its size. The system was adjusting to the new scale from its microscopic size, since it was originally from a compressed universe. Therefore, its mass was equal to that of a real one, evidenced by the mention that very soon the gravity of its star was going to destroy Metropolis. If he didn't have it, he wouldn't be able to generate such a gravitational field, being so small.
https://imgur.com/a/v35zZ8G
https://imgur.com/a/v35zZ8G
6.8) "In the same story, it is mentioned that his best hits barely destroy planets"
A: And where exactly is it mentioned that those were his best shots? 🤔 Because in fact, it is implied that these were casual.
https://imgur.com/a/BQ4crIz
6.9) "The Void Hound did not destroy all those star systems at once. Furthermore, it is only mentioned that those systems died"
A: Nowhere in the story is such a thing stated or even hinted at. In fact, the mention that the Void Hound was only tested once suggests that it destroyed all of those systems with a single attack. Regarding the other, the mention is accompanied with images of celestial bodies being destroyed, which makes it extremely unlikely that by "killing them" they were not referring to the fact that they were destroyed.
https://imgur.com/a/emjfscA
https://imgur.com/a/emjfscA
6.10) "Superman only covered the Mnemon fissure before it broke free, and he also had to get help from John Stewart because it was too much for him"
A: Under the pretext that covering the fissure was not a feat of strength, it makes no sense to argue that he needed John Stewart's help to keep it closed. In any case, Superman himself mentions that he was enduring "unimaginable" pressure to keep his hands closed. Regarding it being "too much for him", this was due to the visions that the Mnemon sent to Superman, with the aim of driving him crazy and making him release his grip on him.
https://imgur.com/a/Wk4YuSz
https://imgur.com/a/GA04Vi4
As for John Stewart's "help," it simply consisted of acting as a backup for Superman (in case his hands opened) and creating the construct of a magnet to generate an electromagnetic field strong enough to reduce the pressure of the Mnemon enough that Superman could safely release it and throw it into a wormhole.
https://imgur.com/a/ZwFuBAz
https://imgur.com/a/0nGPfTo
6.11) "Resisting the explosion of the La Fuente wall was an outlier, since it is a structure superior to the multiverse"
A: Superman only had to resist a tiny portion of the wall's destruction. Specifically, the one he had right in front of him. He couldn't do it all either, even if he wanted to. Since the Source Wall is a pan-dimensional structure that surrounds all of existence, the only way Superman could take all the destruction from it would be by being omnipresent throughout the multiverse. This does not mean that it is a great feat, since a mere breach is enough to destroy a universe.
https://imgur.com/a/vsBBg06
6.12) "That Orion has a power comparable to the Big Bang is hyperbole"
A: We know that it is not hyperbole because emanations of Orion have feats of a similar level, such as containing an explosion that was going to destroy the universe at a quantum level, fighting against a god that was going to destroy the universe and defeating him (along with Superman, btw), killing an emanation of Darkseid that became one with the universe, contributing the energy to destroy the universe from the anti-life equation, etc.

https://imgur.com/a/u0CpFm9
https://imgur.com/a/hATcdrI
https://imgur.com/a/CprsHWy
https://imgur.com/a/3R8tsvj
https://imgur.com/a/lNiMVkI
CONCLUSIONS:
As we can see based on all this, it makes no sense to believe that Kryptonians who have been absorbing sunlight from a yellow sun are only planetary (or multi-planetary) in attack power, at least as far as Superman and Supergirl are concerned. it means. The opposite has been proven in countless instances, and the evidence in all of them is that destroying planets is only a small fraction of these characters' true destructive potential. Therefore, to affirm that this is its limit or that the many feats that exceed this level are outliers is to speak without any type of foundation.

2024.05.14 17:27 ProtoNate Help With New Lawn

Help With New Lawn
Hey y'all,
Two years ago my father in law (landscape architect) helped us design our front yard, which included cutting back the hill and adding a flat lawn.
I've fought with the area for the past two years to try and get a lawn to grow, and so this year I decided to try a scorched earth approach and restart. I would love some advice on how to do this right!
I am in the Pacific Northwest and will be planting PT 309 seed. Our ground is mostly clay, with no amendments other than fertilizer.
Attached are images of my soil test. My plan is to:
  1. Core aerate & level with MVP Turface
  2. Fertilize with a slow release 22-0-22 fertilizer
  3. Suppliment humic acid and micros
  4. Seed via pre-germination & milorganite method
  5. Cover seed, irrigate, & spoonfeed the lawn with Simple Lawn Solutions.
What do you all think of this plan? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

2024.05.14 17:16 Cold_Meson_06 Help Wanted: Need to collect usecases to test idependent physics simulations

Hi, last year I made the post "Can't stop thinking about Physics Subgrids (Star Citizen like tech for walking arround ships)".
I got somewhat far on that project, here's my latest unlisted video if you are curious, but then life got on the way and I forgot about it since then. But recently there has been some Elite Dangerous pay to win drama, which was the push I needed to get back into the pile of uncommited C++ I was sitting on.
But yeah, I think the system has enough functionality to be released on github for who want to thinker with it, regular static meshes, trace functions, and the default character movement component works well enough.
Now I just need to benchmark some use cases. And for that I need your help. Since Idependent physics simulations is kinda of an abstract and open ended feature im having a hard time coming with test cases that aren't my own (space ships with a separate physics simulation for the interior), and im afraid it can break for other "basic" usecases that i didnt think of.

So what I need:

Suggestions of usecases basically.
Tell me what you would like to see this feature being used for, I will graybox it, record and put it on a video mentioning your suggestion (if you are ok with that).
Examples of stuff I will implement:
Crazy stuff like that, recomend and I will either implement it, say why it wont work yet, or find bugs on my system and fix them.
Ill post it on yt alongside the fork of the engine.
Thanks!

2024.05.14 17:15 Jovi_tv PerfectPick - New iOS App for Value Based Drafting

Hey everyone! I wanted to announce the release of my new app, for iPhone/iPad, called PerfectPick.
This app has been in the works for a few years, and is the culmination of my experimentation with Value Based Drafting in order to optimize drafts. Last year i tested my rough draft of the algorithm i developed and won my competitive fantasy football league while making it to the semi-finals in another.
I would love if people could check out and give their thought and hopefully use it to win their leagues! https://apps.apple.com/us/app/perfectpick/id6499479084
See below for the Full App Description and further details on how the Algorithm works:
Overview
PerfectPick is focused on optimal draft pick recommendations and draft simulations. It can be used for mock drafting or for recommendations when drafting live.
PerfectPick uses a dynamic Value Based Drafting (VBD) approach to achieve optimal draft pick recommendations. This approach includes the following primary factors:
• Value Over Next Available (VONA)
• Weighted Average Projections
• Opponent Prediction with ADP

Value Over Next Available (VONA)
Value Over Next Available, or VONA, is a metric used during a PerfectPick draft to assess how valuable a player is. A high VONA is the greatest factor that could lead to a player being recommended as a top draft pick.
VONA is calculated by simulating who the next player available, at the same position, will be with the user's next pick. Then you take the difference in the projected points between these two players.
~Example~
Pick: 1.08 Best Available WR: Puka Nacua Projected Points: 234
Pick: 2.05 Predicted Best Available WR: DJ Moore Projected Points: 209
VONA for Puka Nacua = 234 - 209 = 25
Weighted Average Projections
Accurate projections are the key to having a successful draft. PerfectPick uses projections from across numerous sites and experts, computing a weighted average based on historical accuracy for each source.
Opponent Prediction with ADP
In order to predict likely picks by competitors, PerfectPick primarily uses Average Draft Position, or ADP. ADP is dynamic based on format and team count, and is the best indicator for when players are being drafted.
PerfectPick combines ADP with other factors, such as team needs, to then generate the final predicted pick.

Need Help with Play Store Deployment
I already have a release in the Play Store, and it is currently set for testing, but when I try to deploy it from FF, it says failed.
On top of that, if I go to google Play Console and try uploading the new AAB after making changes to the app, it gives me an error saying version code 1 already used.

The update of OneUI 6.1 introduced a significanz change in how the navigation bar gestures work. Before the update all gestures have to start from the outer bottom ans swipe into the screen. Now they have to start from outer left or outer right amd swope into the screen. This totally collides with every app's navigation drawer and you can't open any menu anymore , instead the app gets closed. See video. Do u guys even test before release?

2024.05.14 17:08 Ill-Policy-1536 My 15 year history with Sublime with Rome

2007, I was 10 and would turn 11 later in the year. My sister’s boyfriend was over the house a lot. He was a skater, Bam Margera type of guy who lived at the beach (albeit on the east coast) and would drive up on the weekends to see my sister. They used to listen to music on my sister’s stereo a lot. They would listen to a variety of music ranging from Grateful Dead to Staind to The Doors. However one CD would play a lot more than the others, the 1996 Sublime self titled album. She would listen to it with and without him and I would constantly hear “Wrong Way” and “Santeria” despite not knowing the title of the song or the artist. Fast forward to Summer of 2008, I was up way later than I should have been trying to remember the lyrics to “Santeria”. All I knew was “what I really wanna know, ah baby”. So I plugged that into Google and got a YouTube video for “Santeria”. From there I downloaded “Wrong Way”, “What I Got”, “Santeria”, and “Doin’ Time” onto my iPod and they were a good portion what I listened to for the rest of the summer. When my sister went to college I immediately ransacked her CD collection and downloaded 40oz, Robbin the Hood, and the Self titled.
Fast forward to early 2009, I’m still listening to Sublime almost daily. One day I’m online and I notice an article about Sublime reforming with an 18 year old named Rome Ramirez. I was very excited to see this band that I just discovered was coming back. Of course I was just excited when they changed the name to Sublime with Rome. Even as a kid I knew it was a good way of separating the two. A couple years pass and I’m not following the news on SWR until 2011 when I see they’re releasing new music on an album called “Yours Truly”. Here’s where SWR would have a knack for releasing music that coincided with major events in my life. I graduated grade school in 2011 and the soundtrack of that summer was “Yours Truly”, I would listen to every track on that album constantly. For Christmas that year I had my parents get me the physical CD. From 2011-2015 I made new friends in high school and was able to introduce a lot of them to both Sublime and Sublime with Rome.
“Sirens” came out the summer I graduated high school and almost everybody in my friend group was listening to it. I have very good memories of hearing “Wherever You Go” at the beach, driving at night with friends, and at parties. That same summer me and 3 others went to see SWR live (my first of 4 times) and it was a great experience to be able to hear the music I love played live.
“Blessings” came out the summer I graduated college and the lyrics to that album resonated with me more than the previous albums. Especially “Light On”. It was yet another summer that I was going through a life change while having new SWR music to accompany it.
Fast forward to 2023-2024, I’m now 27. The past year saw a bad breakup and a departure from a job that I really began to hate. I have not been in too many dark spots in my life, but this one required a little spiritual and emotional recovery. I can confidently say I am truly happy again. I’ve got another summer to look forward and yet again new SWR music to accompany me. This is the main reason I stick up for SWR and Rome as an individual. Their music is connected to major parts of my life. If you don’t like the music itself you’re free to bash it but I will never see the group as “hacks” as some people like to call them.

2024.05.14 17:07 Puzzleheaded_Car_451 Clipper BayPass

Has anyone heard any more about results of the BayPass program? It seems like such a no brainer but they've been testing it out now for almost 2 years. Would be so nice just to have seamless access to Muni, BART, Golden Gate Ferry etc. without feeling nickel & dimed.
The last update I saw was them rolling it out to some folks in Alameda, and 200 city employees in Menlo Park. Any MTC employees here that could give a timeframe for rollout to the public?

2024.05.14 17:05 Tropical_botanical Holding Criminals Accountable In Portland A Behavioral Approach.

For starters, I am referring to all criminals both rich and poor. General complaints in this sub mostly consist of criminals getting free passes, not held accountable, or released the same day. Portland struggles with enabling and in my opinion “harm reduction” method is not adequate by itself.
The intention is a crime discussion. Will the following be effective? Please state why it would or wouldn’t be.
I think it would be helpful to advocate for lower tolerance from elected officials. Behavioral models are incredibly effective at changing behaviors.
Tolerance: Maintain and hold low tolerances for misbehaviors. Raising your tolerances degrades societal trust, increases likely hood of repeated behaviors, and risks larger behaviors through limit testing. Don’t make excuses for them.
Consistency: Always provide consequences for miss behavior.s Letting someone off the hook doesn’t teach them anything.
Make sure the time matches the crime: Harsh punishments for small crimes and single events has diminishing returns. Under normal conditions, making things to difficult results in all in thinking (I am going to get 45 years for x, so I might was well do x, y, z too). Current criminal records associated with small crimes do impact employment and quality of employment. I would suggest only making records publicly available for repeated and severe crimes.
At the same time if consequences are too small, the criminal will not learn. If there are repeated behaviors the criminal must have increased consequences.
Time is a universal measurement: If you take away money, values, and assets. An hour is an hour but not all hours are equally productive. What they do with that hour counts. Conditional mental health services, psycho-education, volunteer work, in addition to fines can be effective. Unproductive jail time might not be effective enough.
This cannot be said enough. Reward positive behaviors: Make doing the right thing count for everyone. This might look like sealing criminal records for positive behaviors and reducing time on sentences. Even reward if they complied with the arrest! Make it known that you would have typically assigned x and subtracted y for good behaviors.
Why the behavior occurred doesn’t always have to impact the consequences: I want to be particularly careful in my wording because it is very important to understand if something was done in self-defense. At the same time if they were driving the stolen car “because their friend let them borrow it” can still result in a small consequence the first time. This might be a good time to issue community service and public expunge/seal upon completion.

Toronto, Ontario--(Newsfile Corp. - May 14, 2024) - Appia Rare Earths & Uranium Corp. (CSE: API) (OTCQX: APAAF) (FSE: A0I0) (MUN: A0I0) (BER: A0I0) (the "Company" or "Appia") announced today the results from the newly identified exploration targets Taygeta and Merope. A total of 111 samples from 18 auger drill holes were assayed by SGS-GEOSOL Laboratories in Vespasiano, Brazil. The results confirm that the regolith developed over the Ipora Granite presented significant enrichment of Heavy Rare Earth Oxides (HREO), characteristic of the Ionic Adsorption Clay (IAC) rare earth elements (REE) deposits identified at other PCH target zones.
Stephen Burega, President, commented, "These initial results from the auger drill program are very promising, and provide us with a strong indication that the PCH project can host multiple new IAC REE mineralized areas in addition to the resource already identified in our maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) completed by SGS Canada. Additionally, these new target zones are considerably larger in total area as compared to the Target IV. Desorption test results will be reported once received."
Highlights
  • The new targets are in the Eastern portion of the PCH claims, approximately 15 km East from Target IV and the Buriti Zone (see Figure 1).
  • Selected intercepts for Heavy Rare Earth Oxide (HREO), Total Rare Earth Oxide (TREO), Dysprosium plus Terbium oxides (Dy+Tb) and Praseodymium plus Neodymium oxides (Nd+Pr) grades in Parts Per Millions (ppm):
    • PCH-AH-190 - **4m@**1848ppm TREO, 1138ppm HREO, 106ppm Dy+Tb, 205ppm Nd+Pr from 1m.
    • PCH-AH-193 - **5m@**1254ppm TREO, 270ppm HREO, 29ppm Dy+Tb, 217ppm Nd+Pr from 1m.
    • PCH-AH-194 - **2m@**1175ppm TREO, 274ppm HREO, 31ppm Dy+Tb, 257ppm Nd+Pr from 4m.
    • PCH-AH-199 - **2m@**1131ppm TREO, 276ppm HREO, 30ppm Dy+Tb, 209ppm Nd+Pr from 2m.
    • PCH-AH-201 - 4m@ 1022ppm TREO, 245ppm HREO, 28ppm Dy+Tb, 211ppm Nd+Pr from 2m.
    • PCH-AH-202 - **8m@**1696ppm TREO, 1070ppm HREO, 101ppm Dy+Tb, 172ppm Nd+Pr from 0m.
    • PCH-AH-204 - **5m@**1267ppm TREO, 754ppm HREO, 75ppm Dy+Tb, 168ppm Nd+Pr from 1m.
    • PCH-AH-207 - **6m@**1025 ppm TREO, 262ppm HREO, 29ppm Dy+Tb, 196ppm Nd+Pr from 3m.
  • The grade distribution signature found at depth in the auger drill holes is compatible with the pattern commonly found on IAC REE deposits (see Figures 2 and 3).
  • The Taygeta and Merope targets cover an area of 546 and 1,134 hectares respectively.
  • These first phase auger drill holes average 6.22 metres in depth, and most ended in mineralization leaving the interval open at depth.
  • Intercepts of all auger drill holes are presented in Table 1. The full set of results are included in this LINK.
Tom Drivas, CEO, stated, "Building on our recent news confirming the presence of IAC mineralization through desorption testing, I am extremely excited by the identification of new, large scale targets across the PCH project which are underlain by the IAC mineralization produced by these weathered Ipora granites. We have a lot of work to do over the coming months to fully delineate these new target zones, and to assess the implications of their addition to our maiden MRE, and true value to the marketplace."

Andre Costa, VP Exploration for Brazil, commented, "The confirmation of these new targets opens the prospect of finding new exploration targets associated with the Ipora Granite across the entirety of the PCH project area which covers an impressive +40,000 hectares. Auger samples for desorbability testing are being prepared to corroborate the IAC REE mineralization in Taygeta and Merope targets. Delineation drilling will follow upon favorable desorption results."
On March 1st, 2024, the Company announced its maiden Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) on Target IV and the Buriti Zone (Click here for the Press Release), and the companion NI 43-101 technical report on the PCH Project was filed on April 16th, 2024. (Click here for the Press Release)

QA/QC
Auger drill holes are vertical and reported intervals are true thickness. The material produced from drill holes are sampled at one metre intervals, resulting in average sample sizes of 5-10 kg. Quartering of the material was performed at Appia's logging facility using a riffle splitter and continued splitting until a representative sample weighing approximately 500g each was obtained, bagged in a resistant plastic bag, labeled, photographed, and stored for shipment.
The bagged samples are sent to the SGS laboratory in Vespasiano, Minas Gerais. In addition to the internal QA/QC of the SGS Lab, Appia includes its own control samples in each batch of samples sent to the laboratory.
Quality control samples, such as blanks, duplicates, and standards (CRM) were inserted into each analytical run. For all analysis methods, the minimum number of QA/QC samples is one standard, one duplicate and one blank, introduced in each batch which comprise a full-length hole. The rigorous procedures are implemented during the sample collection, preparation, and analytical stages to insure the robustness and reliability of the analytical results.
All analytical results reported herein have passed internal QA/QC review and compilation. All assay results of Auger samples were provided by SGS Geosol, an ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Certified Laboratory, which performed their measure of the concentration of rare earth elements (REE) with the IMS95R analytical method that uses lithium metaborate fusion prior acid dissolution and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).
The technical information in this news release, including the information related to geology, drilling, and mineralization, has been reviewed and approved by Andre L. L.
