2024.05.14 18:49 McManGuy Guide for Preventing Elevation Glitches When Moving a World Over to the Ashlands Patch

The simple solution is to make a fresh new world after the new Ashlands patch. And if you never visited the Ashlands in your old world, you're also likely safe.
But if you ever traveled close to the Ashlands, it's common for non-Ashlands biomes that were connected to the border of the Ashlands biome to have vastly different elevations in the new update, resulting in rocks, ancient roots, trees, etc. floating in the sky above the land or sea.
You can prevent this with the Upgrade World Mod. But it's quite the process.

Part 1: Make a world backup

The game automatically makes backup files, but just to be safe, you want to manually create your own backups.
Your Valheim world consists of 2 files with these extentions:
  • *****.db
  • *****.fwl
In fact, I suggest you include the backups of your backup, too:
  • *****.db.old
  • *****.fwl.old
Actually, it's not a bad idea to make a backup copy of the entire save folder, just in case.
Now, it's best to be working with Local Saves rather than with Cloud Saves. By default, the game uses cloud saves. Your save file location might be different depending on which save method you had employed.
This is the Valheim local save file location:
  • C:\Users\*****\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local
The AppData folder is normally hidden. So here's another way to find the AppData folder:
  1. Windows Key + R
  2. type in appdata.
  3. Navigate Appdata > LocalLow > Irongate > Valheim

Part 2: Staying Pre-Ashlands

In order to prevent elevation errors, you must perform these fixes before loading up the world with the Ashlands Patch downloaded. To do this, Go to your Steam Library and set your game to the previous patch:
  1. Steam Library > right-click Valheim > Properties > Betas
  2. change "Beta Participation" from "None" to "default_preal"

Part 3: Console setup

Noe you need to enable the developer console
  1. Steam Library > right-click Valheim > Properties > General
  2. Find the Text field in the Launch Options section under where it says "Advanced users may choose to enter modifications to their launch options"
  3. In this text field, type -console
You can now open the Developer Console by pressing F5 while in the game world.

Part 4: Mod Installation

You need to install the BepInEx Pack. Followed by the Upgrade World Mod.
I recommend either installing these mods manually or using the r2modman manager (Source)
(DO NOT use the Overwolf / Thunderstore mod manager - it has video ads that ruin performance)

Part 5: Finally doing something

Now we're finally ready to get started.
Be sure to make a new character for this test and do not use your actual character. Then, Load up your Valheim world.
Open the console with F5 and make sure you have the following developer commands active:
  • devcommands
  • god
  • fly
This just makes things easier for later on.
Now we want to reset the Ashlands. The command for this is:
  • zones_reset biomes=AshLands force
The "force" part of that command forces any player bases in the biome to be destroyed without a trace.

Part 6: Fixing Problem Spots

This is where trial and error begins. You'll have to travel back and forth between the Ashlands update and the previous patch
  1. Save another backup of your world file.
  2. Change your Beta selection back to "None"
  3. Load up the game and fly around in god mode, checking to see if everything is fine
  4. Write down the coordinates of any problem areas that you find.
  5. Restore your backup world file
  6. Reset the problem spot (see below)
  7. Repeat Steps 1-6 until done.
For Step 6, you'll need to use more targeted resets, limited by max distance. There are 2 ways to do this: by raw position (in meters) or by zone. (a zone is a 64x64 chunk of the map)
  • zones_reset pos= max=
  • zones_reset zone= max=
pos sets a center position and max sets how far out it goes.
zone sets a center position and changes max to set how many zones away the reset can reach.
Example:
  • zones_reset pos=-3700,-7200 max=350
This resets a small area on my map that was giving me problems.
  • zones_reset zone=-58,-113 max=6
This more or less does the same thing, but goes by zones. Notice that the max needs to be smaller since zones are a 64x64m area.

Side Note: The Reset Area shape

It is unclear to me whether this "max" distance is actually a "radius" for a circle. I think it might just create a square around the center point. So, for example:
  • zones_reset pos=0,0 max=100
If it was a square, this would make a 200x200m square with these corner locations:

-100, 100 100, 100
-100,-100 100,-100
A circle dictated by a radius wouldn't include those.
I have no idea if it is a square or if it is a circle. All I know is that I've had unpredictable and strange results when using a very large radius.

2024.05.14 18:49 Chemical-Cat How do you think they could add to boss variety like Hades 1?

For reference, in Hades 1, the first boss was by default Megaera, but after a while you could get Alecto and Tisiphone as bosses instead, with an extreme measure that has you fight all 3 of them at once. The Hydra could get new heads that do different things, Theseus will get a boon from a god you haven't gotten from in the run, etc.
At the moment the only particular variety is which spells that Hecate will decide to use on you, particularly in the phase change moments (she'll spam that one move until you kill the adds), and which of the Sirens gets to be 'featured' in their phase change.
That being said, here's some I can see:
Extreme measures seem like an obvious thing that'll happen though.

2024.05.14 18:48 curious_bod My VA did this 👇🏻. Need your guidance.

This guy ran three multiple campaigns for my shopify drop shipping store. Two with narrow targeting and one with open targeting, allocating $20/day to each. Now he tried multiple creatives and found one that’s working. He made 3 copies of that same video and is running ads on that under the same adgroup. I asked him why did he do that & he said it’s recommended.
Is he doing it right? Or he’s just dividing the allocated budget which will affect the performance? What do you guys suggest? Should I turn off the copies of the ad and let the beat performing one take the whole budget?

2024.05.14 18:47 Sketch_x Overhaul: Seeking Advice on Backtest and Asset Choices

Hi all,
Appreciate past feedback from you guys!
After a failed walk forward test I turned my algo off and re-assessed - I know the foundation of my strategy is sound but it was too heavily reliant on various parameters that I seemingly overfit.
Iv stripped this back to basics, core strategy only and currently have this on forward testing on a demo environment as, although my live forward testing failed I did gather all the data I needed on slippage and excitation.
Here is my back test results for my system, I would really appreciate any feedback in regards to the assets traded, although I can "optimise" it to work on a larger variety if securities, it works out of the box with very minimal parameters (just stop loss adjustments) - I have accounted for spreads (averaged) but not interest or holding fees (minimal)
My concerns are:
1: Correlation
2: The shape of the curve picks up in 2018 but really seems to take off
3: Lack of data on some assets that done extend to the start of testing
4: The poor performance from 2012 to 2018 on most securities.

2024.05.14 18:46 OperatorDuck502 List of my issues with M24 Superstar mode

  1. Draft logic is near non-existent. When you're picked is based solely on Combine performance and doesn't take into account what picks a team has or what trades they'd have to make. Only a select few teams, it seems, can pick certain positions (like when I remade my CB save 3 times and all 3 times was drafted by the Lions,) and actual team need is basically thrown out of the window, ignoring the picks teams made in real life. (Which feels like something that wouldn't be hard to implement if the devs actually ever updated the game.)
  2. Combine minigames are extremely poorly made. The bench press has stupid control mapping, and while it isn't that difficult, it is really annoying and uncomfortable to do well. The 40 is fine, I guess, but it has 0 nuance outside of the feature where sometimes it doesn't register your inputs (which is really fun and interesting!) The broad jump is impossible, no matter how hard I try, or how I try, or what I try on, I can barely get above an F for some reason. The 20-yard shuttle is the opposite end of the spectrum and is way too easy, and the position-specific drills are unrealistic, boring, annoying with how the controls are set up, and are also paired with somehow the most annoying music in the game.
  3. Training camp minigames are way too difficult for what they should be. The scoring system for the WDB battle minigame on defense sucks, making it near impossible to get gold if you don't have a Superstar over 80 OVR. The Oklahoma drill minigame is just plain boring. The moving barriers in the pass rush minigame are really annoying when paired with how terrible the movement system is. And, finally, the target passing QB minigame just doesn't really make sense. I would love a realistic training camp but I guess asking for realism is too much for Madden devs.
  4. Defensive balancing sucks. The way it seems to me that the difficulty system works is that it only actually affects your offense, because in my experience, changing the difficulty setting does nothing to the difficulty of playing defense in Superstar mode. The opposing offense will have the same skill with different playbook sizes, and your AI teammates will still not pick up receivers in their zones or play the ball with any sense of a brain. Changing the difficulty only influences two things: the nuance of the opponent's playbook, and how good your team's offense is. If you're playing a defensive superstar on a not great team, your offense will struggle greatly while you try your best, meaning even in the best case scenario you won't score enough to win. If you lower the difficulty, you'll score more, but it'll make playing defense less fun and interesting overall.
I may be very wrong about how the game works, but this is what it feels like to me while playing it, which is bad enough. A problem is a problem no matter why it's happening and it would be very very much appreciated if the devs tried maybe anything at all to fix it.

Cedar Point Opening Weekend [trip report]
May 5th and 6th 2024
This is a weekend circled on my calendar for a long time. Not only because I get to return to my favorite park in the United States, but the much anticipated Top Thrill 2 is opening up for the weekend (little did I learn how lucky we got going opening weekend). This trip report is mirrored with the video I put up on my Youtube Channel. Scroll to the bottom for the link.
As fun as it would have been to go on opening day. There was no way I wanted to deal with the crowds, and turns out that was the right call as I heard it was pretty busy, especially with the 4 hour wait for Top Thrill 2. Overall the crowds both days were pretty light, especially on Monday.
Since I had to drive almost 4 hours from Cincinnati to Sandusky, I was not able to get to the park at opening, as a result the line for Top Thrill 2 was already spilling out of the queue, so we headed to my favorite roller coaster on the planet, Steel Vengeance.
Steel Vengeance 1x Rank #1 of 187: This thing is still absolutely insane and I am yet to experience any ride as wild as it. Even on a cooler day, this thing is ejector city in the back row and a ride I will never get tired of. What made this ride extra special, is by pure coincidence I rode with Taylor and Sarah from Coaster Studios. For sure one of the most memorable rides I have had on a coaster.
Top Thrill 2, 3x Ranks #5 of 187: Now for the main course. The line had died down since park opening so, screw it, let's get in line. The line moved quickly until the first breakdown, and then the second, and finally right before boarding she broke down again. Pretty bad luck as it was running pretty reliably all weekend from my understanding. Overall I waited 2 1 ⁄ 2 hours, but figured it would be about 1 ¼ hours if there were no breakdowns. Now this thing is insane! I absolutely loved it more than OG dragster. I have a much more in depth review of Top Thrill 2 on my channel that I will also include a link for, but in short, this thing is intense and kinda terrifying. The spike is insanity especially in the back row, and the ejector over the top hat is worth the wait alone.
Blue Streak x1: After waiting way too long, it was time to get in a nice and short queue. This is just a nice and fun classic wooden coaster with great pops of airtime
Valravn x1: Another decently short queue. Like most enthusiasts, I am not in love with dive coasters, but I always enjoy my rides on Valravn, especially with the spectacular view of Lake Erie from the top.
Millennium Force x2 Rank #7 out of 187: Millennium is always going to be a favorite of mine. It is now far from the best coaster I have ridden, but I always have a blast riding this thing, especially in the back row with the amazing ejector off the 300 ft drop and intense turn around. It has been falling in my rankings over the past few years after sitting at #1 for nearly a decade, in fact I dropped it decently after this last trip, but no trip to Cedar Point is complete without a ride on Millennium Force
Maverick x1 Rank #9 out of 187: Our last ride from day 1 and a nice short 20 minute wait for one of the wildest rides out there. Maverick is incredible as always with its short bursts of intensity and rapid transitions. I just wish the line was always this short with this amazing coaster.
Day two started with rides on Top Thrill 2 and Millennium Force, taking advantage of the lighter crowds at opening, only waiting 20 minutes for Top Thrill 2 and 15 for Millennium Force
Gatekeeper x1 Rank #43 out of 187: Gatekeeper may not be the most intense ride, but I always love my rides on this thing, especially with the typically shorter line. The drop off the top is always pretty intense and twisting through the keyholes is a blast.
Corkscrew x1: It has been about a decade since I last rode Corkscrew, and I see why. Too much Arrow Jank for not enough reward.
Magnum XL-200 x1 Rank #17 out of 187: It was Magnum’s 35th birthday and what better way to celebrate than an insane ride in the magic seat? I have grown to love this coaster. I understand why some people are not fans of it since it is a lot to take in with the awful restraints, but good God if you are able to love this thing, you are in for a treat.
Overall a very successful two days at Cedar Point. I wish I got more than one ride on my all time favorite coaster, Steel Vengeance. I was more than thrilled to have gotten 3 rides in on Top Thrill 2. I really hope I am able to get another visit up to Sandusky this year and with the elephant in the room of Top Thrill 2’s extended down time announced the other day. Waiting a little bit seems to be the best plan for now.

Hello fellow residents and lurkers of reddit, would like to ask you guys a question.
I was dedicated to switch over to yt music from spotify. After transferring all my playlists and liked songs over, i found out that yt music and yt premium share the same playlist storage.
I read some post and found out you can make a new channel and convert it to a video-only watching/streaming profile. So i created one.
It was where I found out that my home feed suggestions wasnt working fully. I could scroll for the first few rows of videos but it stopped after a certain length.
On the PC it gave me an error stating "Your Home feed has expired". On android the home tab just loads 2-3 recommended videos and then stops loading. My yt history is on and my old acc's home feed still works normally.
Any fixes?
Tldr: Tried out yt music, didnt like having music and video playlist on same channel, made a new channel for video streaming only, new channel home feed does not load fully.

2024.05.14 18:45 TrackRunner99 retake advice and application

Hello Folks. I am planning to apply this application cycle and find myself in a predicament after receiving my mcat results recently. To provide you context, I was a psychology major in college and completed all the standard pre-medical classes except for biochem which I self-studied for mcat prep. I went to a small liberal arts school where I had a GPA of 3.78. I generally did very well in my pre-med courses except for gen Chem where I struggled early in my college career. My mcat prep spanned a 6 month period with total hours studied at 760 hours. Below are my results of my practice exams in order:
11/18/23: Blueprint diagnostic: 502 ; 12/1: BP FL 1: 504 (126/125/125/128); 12/8: AAMC FL1 505 (124/127/125/129); 12/15: AAMC free scored: 502 (125/124/124/129); 12/29 BP FL 2: 505 (126/125/126/128); 1/5: BP FL3 504 (125/126/126/127); 1/19 AAMC FL2: 504 (125/124/126/129); 2/9 BP FL4 503 (125/125/125/128); 2/16: BP FL5: 505 (124/127/127/127); 2/23 Princeton demo 499 (123/125/123/128); 3/13 BP FL6: 502 (125/124/125/128); 3/22: AAMC FL 3: 509 (126/127/127/129); 4/5 AAMC FL4: 505 (126/125/125/129); 4/7 AAMC FL unscored: B/B (127 concerted), CP (127 converted)
Actual Mcat 4/12: 501 (127/123/125/126)
After each practice exam, I took the advice of many successful test takers and recorded the questions I got wrong and added new flashcards to the milesdown Anki deck. I also purchased the uplanet mcat q-bank and did every single question and re-did every question until I got 100% correct for all sections (except for orgo since I ran out of time). I generally studied like it was a full time job, around 5 hours each day over this 6 month period. Also, I did all the AAMC question packs. For section banks, I was around 65% for all 3. And for the bio volume 1 and 2 questions I was at high 70 % on both. For the independent Q's I got >80% on all sections. For chem and phys practice q's I was at about 70-80%.
My goal entering mcat prep was to study extremely hard to try to achieve my goal score of 515. I'm honestly shocked at my actual mcat score and don't really know where to go here given how much time and financial investment into preparing.
I am considering retaking the exam, but wanted to gauge opinions and when would be the latest I could retake with this current application cycle. I essentially have my primary finished already and was planning to submit in the first week of June once I got my mcat back. Thank you for any advice.

2024.05.14 18:44 MattsRod Tim Naki Analysis

Anyone else skeptical of Tim Naki's epic and improbable blackjack run. Me too. So I decided to track it.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1k87rCzQ47h0ceGxNG2uGZRAjVBG7rbyO5YxWgMp7ss8/edit?usp=sharing
And I discovered two strange things.
  1. Not surprising but Yes his win percentage is high. He is currently a little over 61% which tells you if anything over 50% was normal casinos would be bankrupt. I looked up an average win rate and the number I found was 43%.
  2. The second strange issue is his total profits. It's just not correct. As of today 5/14/24 he is saying he has won 851,971 but I am seeing he should have profited over 76K more. Also it's odd that someone who is betting fairly round numbers somehow has such an odd number for their profit. And for those who say he is a marketing shill for the casino then it's doubly odd to report under his actual profit is the case. Like according to my calculations he "Hit the Milli" 3 days before he said he did. He also hit it again and didn't mention it.
The only things I can think of to explain this is either he has to do some currency conversion to play in this casino or the table is being raked or something. Both don't make a whole lot of sense.
Check out my spread sheet and maybe you can see where I went wrong or any ideas whats going on?

2024.05.14 18:43 AdInteresting2401 Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) - Interview with Prof. Dr. Knut Brockow

Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is the subject of heated debate. How are mast cell activation syndromes defined? Which diseases are included? What is the diagnosis and treatment of mast cell activation syndrome? Prof. Dr. Knut Brockow, Clinic and Polyclinic for Dermatology and Allergology at the Biederstein, Technical University of Munich answers these questions in an interview with MeinAllergiePortal.
Mast cell activation syndrome: The most important facts!
-The prototype of mast cell activation syndrome is recurrent anaphylaxis
-Other forms of idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome are being sought; however, there are mainly symptom descriptions where the diagnosis cannot be made
-Clinical suspicion of MCAS is based on recurring allergy-like symptoms on the skin, nose, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract and circulation
-The diagnosis of MCAS is made according to recognized international criteria based on three criteria
-MCAS is often suspected even when symptoms are inappropriate and the diagnosis is unclear; the suspicion is then not helpful for patients
-The same medications are used to treat MCAS as are used to treat allergies, in particular antihistamines and cromoglicic acid
Prof. Brockow, what kind of disease is MCAS?
Mast cell activation syndrome is not an established diagnosis, but rather a concept. Historically, this concept arose because an increasing number of patients came to the doctor's office with complaints that gave the impression of having been triggered by mast cells. These patients sometimes showed symptoms similar to those of allergic reactions, anaphylaxis or mastocytosis, but a clear diagnosis for these diseases could not be made. Nevertheless, it was suspected that there could at least be a connection with mast cell diseases. Unfortunately, the term MCAS created more uncertainty than understanding. This is because MCAS is now thrown around as a diagnosis for many patients with many symptoms and an unclear diagnosis. This is not helpful for patients and fuels short-term hope of diagnosis and cure, which cannot be fulfilled later.
Is MCAS an autoimmune disease?
No, in autoimmune diseases mast cells are not primarily involved and not as lead cells, but lymphocytes that attack the body's own structures, in some cases by forming antibodies.
Is there a connection between mast cell activation syndrome and autoimmune diseases?
No, there is no known connection between MCAS and autoimmune diseases. It has also been claimed by specific authors that other diseases, such as Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) are related to mast cell activation syndrome. However, there are no good arguments for this. Unfortunately, such claims are easy to make and difficult to refute.
What is the cause of mast cell activation syndrome?
Mast cell activation syndrome is actually more of a symptom description than a diagnosis in its own right. Mast cell activation syndrome is fully applicable to recurrent anaphylaxis (severe allergic reactions in several organ systems such as the skin, respiratory tract, digestive tract and circulatory system), for example due to insect bites. All the criteria for mast cell activation syndrome are met here. Severe allergic reactions are the most common cause of MCAS. However, although the term MCAS is correct in this context, it does not provide any additional information, as patients with such events are better described as patients with a diagnosis of anaphylaxis or allergy, and the term MCAS is somewhat confusing.
Is mast cell activation syndrome genetic?
MCAS itself is not genetic, but patients with the genetic disease mastocytosis often suffer from anaphylaxis, particularly to insect venom, and therefore MCAS. In addition, it is currently being investigated whether people with genetically determined hereditary alpha-tryptasemia suffer more frequently from MCAS.
How did the term mast cell activation syndrome come about?
There were many patients without a clear diagnosis, some of whom predominantly showed the symptoms typical of mast cell diseases. Accordingly, the experts dealing with mast cell diseases saw the need to develop a concept that took into account the “undiagnosable” symptoms of the patients. In the course of this, the terms “mast cell activation” and “mast cell activation syndrome” were defined. In addition, an attempt was made to sort all mast cell diseases into a classification with regard to mast cell activation. However, the difficulty in classifying these complaints is that many of the complaints described by patients are subjective, relatively non-specific and can be both organic and psychosomatic.
How have you defined mast cell diseases and which diseases do they include?
Mast cell diseases are defined as recurring chronic symptoms that are compatible with mast cell activation.
Mast cell activation is classified on the basis of three criteria:
Recurrent typical clinical symptoms in at least two organ systems
An increase in mast cell mediators can be detected in the blood, most frequently by determining the serum tryptase level during an acute attack
Good response of symptoms to anti-mast cell mediator-directed therapy, especially H1 antihistamines
What types of mast cell disease are there?
The classification of mast cell diseases associated with mast cell activation syndromes defines three groups:
1. primary mast cell activation syndrome
Primary mast cell activation syndrome is explained by a clonal expansion of mutated overactive mast cells. It manifests as systemic or cutaneous mastocytosis. If these criteria are not completely fulfilled, but clonal mast cells have been detected, it is referred to as monoclonal mast cell activation syndrome.
2 Secondary mast cell activation syndrome
Secondary mast cell activation syndrome is present when clear triggers of mast cell activation are known. There are established terms for secondary mast cell activation syndrome that we are more familiar with, such as “anaphylaxis” to a known trigger. The classification in the second group of mast cell diseases is therefore merely a reclassification. Examples of mast cell activation are physical urticaria or cold urticaria. Allergies such as pollen allergies are also secondary mast cell activations, as hay fever also causes symptoms typical of mast cell diseases. In pollen allergies, mast cell mediators are found in the blood serum and drugs directed against mast cells have a good effect. If the symptoms recur in several organ systems, this is referred to as mast cell activation syndrome.
3. tertiary or idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome
Tertiary or idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome refers to mast cell diseases whose triggers are unknown. This group would include, for example, chronic spontaneous urticaria, which has additional symptoms in other organs. Here we know that mast cells are activated, but not by what. This group of idiopathic mast cell activation syndromes would also include patients with as yet undescribed clinical pictures who do not fulfill the diagnostic criteria of known mast cell diseases, e.g. allergy, anaphylaxis, but in whom the disease is triggered by mast cells. In these patients, however, the connection between the symptoms and the activities of the mast cells must be proven.
Does this mean that tertiary or idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome is a diagnosis of exclusion?
Idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome can be described as a diagnosis of exclusion insofar as the prerequisite for the diagnosis is that there is no other disease causing the symptoms. However, the symptoms described are often very, very unspecific and could also be caused by a variety of other diseases. However, there are the three criteria for mast cell activation syndrome already mentioned. If these are not all fulfilled, this diagnosis cannot be made.
How common is mast cell activation syndrome?
Anaphylaxis and severe recurrent allergies are not uncommon and represent the vast majority of appropriate cases for MCAS. In addition, mastocytosis patients often have multiple anaphylaxis and therefore also MCAS. However, our initial idea of finding a new disease, idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome, has not yet been confirmed. There are many patients with many symptoms for whom a clear organic diagnosis cannot yet be made. However, it is almost never possible to prove that a defect in the mast cells is primarily responsible for the symptoms. Many of these patients describe symptoms that could fit, and in some patients anti-allergic drugs also have a positive effect. But in only very few patients can an increase in mast cell mediators be detected during an acute attack. I now believe that somatic stress disorders could play a significant role in many of the patients examined.
Histamine intolerance is also a diagnosis of exclusion, is there a connection with mast cell activation syndrome?
Histamine intolerance can cause similar symptoms, but is not a mast cell disorder and has nothing to do with MCAS. When mast cells are activated, the messenger substance histamine is released, which in turn can cause symptoms. In histamine intolerance, the mast cell is not activated - it is not involved in any way. Rather, histamine intolerance describes patients with an increased sensitivity to histamine, which is supplied, for example, via the diet. This can lead to similar symptoms, but in contrast to mast cell activation syndrome, histamine intolerance has a clear trigger, histamine. As a result, the symptoms occur after eating histamine-rich foods, but disappear again if the patient follows a low-histamine diet. A test is also available to diagnose histamine intolerance.
So there are also patients with suspected mast cell activation syndrome who cannot be assigned to a classification group, even though they have corresponding symptoms?
There are many patients in whom no mast cell activation syndrome can be detected despite suspicion. They do not fit into one of the three groups. However, this also used to include monoclonal mast cell activation syndrome. These patients showed anaphylaxis and a KIT mutation, but not the full criteria for mastocytosis. In the meantime, a separate disease diagnosis has been created for these patients. The independent accepted disease of these patients therefore lies between mastocytosis and normal findings.
We thought that there might be other forms of idiopathic MCAS with clinical pictures that have not yet been described. However, this is not supported by the findings to date. There are patients who show symptoms but do not meet the necessary criteria for idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome. In these patients, the diagnosis remains unclear. In how many of these patients functional physical complaints play a role still needs to be investigated.
Are there risk factors that favor mast cell activation syndrome?
There are hardly any recognized studies on this. In a study conducted by Cem Akin in the USA, patients were examined who met the three criteria for idiopathic mast cell activation syndrome. They had the right symptoms, there was an increase in mediators and their symptoms improved with treatment. It was shown that many of these patients suffered from urticaria factitia, a scratch-induced urticaria, abdominal pain and flushing.
Recently, a genetic trait was discovered, hereditary alpha-tryptasemia with elevated basal serum tryptase levels. In patients with this trait and insect venom allergy, the severity of the allergic reaction appears to be increased. It is also discussed that the frequency of mast cell activation syndrome is increased in patients with this genetic trait. However, the published studies are not yet unanimous in this respect.
What symptoms can occur with MCAS?
The following symptoms could be signs of mast cell activation syndrome:
MCAS symptoms on the skin:
Appearance of sudden intense redness (flushing)
itching
wheal formation
Deep wheal formation (angioedema or Quincke's edema)
MCAS symptoms on the nose:
Nasal congestion
Nasal itching
MCAS symptoms in the airways:
Swelling of the upper airways
Wheezing
Shortness of breath
MCAS symptoms of the digestive tract:
Vomiting
abdominal pain
diarrhea
Systemic MCAS symptoms:
Syncope - where you suddenly lose consciousness, but only for a short time
Sudden drop in blood pressure
Allergic shock
These symptoms can occur together or individually. In principle, symptoms must occur in two or more organ systems for MCAS. These symptoms, together with the typical skin changes and anaphylaxis, are also typical of mastocytosis.
Are muscle pain and hair loss also symptoms of MCAS?
No, why would anyone think that these symptoms are primarily caused by a malfunction of mast cells? Mast cells are not important cells for muscle pain and hair loss.
How is MCAS diagnosed?
MCAS is a diagnosis of exclusion, i.e. there is no mast cell activation syndrome test. However, this does not mean that all other diseases must be ruled out before a diagnosis of MCAS can be made.
When testing directly for mast cell activation syndrome, three criteria would be examined, all of which must be met, not just two:
First, there must be a matching of symptoms to see if the above symptoms are leading, recurrent and occur in at least two organ systems.
Is there a substantial or complete improvement in the clinical symptoms when taking anti-allergic medication, antihistamines or cromoglicic acid? Then this criterion would apply.
The blood levels of tryptase in the serum can now be examined at two different points in time. This would check whether there is an increase in mast cell mediators or tryptase in the blood serum in a highly symptomatic phase or during a seizure compared to a time when there are no symptoms.
What does the tryptase level in the blood mean in the diagnosis of mast cell activation syndrome?
If the mast cell mediator tryptase rises by 20 percent of the basal value, i.e. the initial value, + 2 ng/ml during such an episode, the diagnosis of mast cell activation syndrome has been made without the need to rule out other diseases beforehand. However, taking blood samples to determine the tryptase levels is very time-consuming, because a blood sample should be taken in the normal state and then another blood sample should be taken during a seizure or a highly symptomatic episode. This means that the patient must see a doctor in good time for a blood test during the acute phase. If these tests are negative, mast cell activation syndrome cannot be confirmed.
Elevated tryptase levels also play a role in anaphylaxis, is there a connection with mast cell activation syndrome?
Anaphylaxis is an extremely strong mast cell activation, the “prototype” of mast cell activation, so to speak. The tryptase level rises, so that it is considered an indicator of anaphylaxis. Here too, the basal value is measured and compared with the value during an episode. The relevant factor is the resulting increase in the tryptase value. The therapy against mast cells is effective in this case. In this respect, anaphylaxis is the classic form of mast cell activation syndrome.
The tryptase value also plays a role in the diagnosis of mastocytosis, what are the correlations here?
Mastocytosis patients also have an elevated baseline tryptase level. This is therefore an indication of mastocytosis and an indication for a final diagnosis by means of a bone marrow biopsy. However, there is also a mastocytosis-independent correlation between tryptase and anaphylaxis. People who have a higher number of mast cells often develop more severe anaphylaxis than people with fewer mast cells. The tryptase basal value is therefore considered a kind of indicator for the total mast cells in the body. For example, insect venom anaphylactic patients with elevated basal mast cell tryptase levels in the blood are at increased risk of severe anaphylaxis.
What can be done against MCAS and which medications help?
The aim of treatment for mast cell activation syndrome is to slow down the effect of the overactivated mast cells and to calm the mast cells. In particular, the avoidance of allergic triggers is available for this purpose.
Histamine receptor blockers are tried as medication to block the effects of mast cell activation by histamine. Mast cell stabilizers or blockers of mast cell release, cromoglicic acid, can also calm the mast cells. Cromoglicic acid is also used in mastocytosis patients. It is important to know that the use of cromoglicic acid is not advisable if the attack has already run its course. On the other hand, many patients achieve a significant improvement in symptoms if cromoglicic acid is taken continuously as a preventive measure and in a sufficiently high dose. This has also been shown to be the case with antihistamines.
Another option would be leukotriene receptor antagonists and corticosteroids in the short term, but never over a longer period of time.
Unfortunately, many patients with previously unexplained complaints are given a suspected diagnosis of MCAS in the hope that this knowledge will lead to better treatment or perhaps a cure. However, apart from the drugs mentioned, which can also be used on a trial basis in cases of suspected MCAS, there are no other useful drugs available. In this respect, the suspicion of MCAS unfortunately does not offer patients any additional treatment options.
Are there foods that activate or deactivate mast cells?
No such foods are known in humans. Of course, it is possible to bombard mast cells in a test tube with high concentrations of food and measure whether the natural activation of mast cells is increased or reduced. However, such tests are generally not meaningful for humans when consumed.
Can naturopathy help with mast cell activation syndrome?
I don't know how it could help. Naturopathy is the attempt to achieve a positive effect through naturally occurring active substances. Is the avoidance of allergens in our natural environment already naturopathy?
Could certain vitamins, for example vitamin C, be beneficial for MCAS?
This is claimed by a few doctors without any convincing results. Vitamin C is also said to help against seasickness. After all, vitamin C, taken in normal amounts, is not harmful and is beneficial. Sometimes the conviction that a substance is good for you also helps. That's why the experiment doesn't bother me.
Is it possible to prevent mast cell activation syndrome?
Yes, by avoiding MCAS with a known trigger. This is the case with allergies. In the case of allergies and recurrent anaphylaxis as a form of MCAS, omalizumab, an antibody against immunoglobulin E, can also be used in individual patients.
Prof. Brockow, thank you very much for this interview!

2024.05.14 18:42 rhythmmchn Monitoring/managing transmission temp (towing with E70 X5, ZF 8HP45)

We took our 2012 35ix (ZF 8HP45 transmission) out with the trailer (about 3500lbs loaded) this weekend for the first time. My previous tow vehicle was a 2009 MB ML320, which was a diesel with a 7-speed transmission. Between the lower torque with the X5's gas engine (about 100 less) and the 8-speed transmission, I was concerned about how the transmission temp would be. I also have an intermittent issue where sometimes the gate will open up to let me shift into sport/manual mode, but often it won't, in which case I'm stuck using automatic mode and the transmission is shifting as often as it wants... which is really often.
I had to be in full automatic mode for most of the trip, but was able to get into manual for much of the return. Ambient temps were around 20-25C, engine temps were usually 100-110C, and my transmission temps were usually 100-108C. From what I've read, normal operating transmission temp should be 80-100C, with the max allowed for short duration (like climbing a large hill) is 135C.
Interestingly, after I dropped the trailer off and was driving home the transmission temp had dropped about 10C while I was sitting, but once I started driving it rose to the same levels I had while towing and stayed there... so I'm not sure if it's actually getting any hotter while towing than not.
I expected to see a significant difference when I was able to get into manual mode and reduce the number of shifts, but it didn't have much of an impact.
So, I have a number of questions that I'm hoping those of you with more knowledge and experience will be able to help me with.
  1. Should I be concerned about my current operating range? I was consistently running a little above the the high end of "normal", and while there were a number of significant hills (southern Alberta), the ambient temperature was lower than it will be when we're doing most of our towing in the summer. I'm not sure if I was over the normal range because the car couldn't cool it adequately or if it was "intentionally" running in that range, since it didn't continue to climb.
  2. I'm at about 160K km on the car and the transmission fluid hasn't been changed (I bought it this past winter), so I have an appointment with my trusted indy shop to get that done at the end of the month. Will fresh fluid impact the temperatures much?
  3. When I get the transmission fluid changed, I opted to go with the VF OE oil pan and filter, which is plastic, but several hundred Canadian dollars less than an aluminum model. I've read lots of people saying that the aluminum pan "should" have an impact on lowering the temp, but no real-world input from people who have used both with the same casimilar circumstances. Does anyone know if upgrading to an aluminum transmission oil pan will have a material impact on keeping the temp down and so may be worth spending on?
  4. I got a VEEPEAK OBD dongle and Car Scanner Pro to read it to see when the torque converter is locked up, but it doesn't seem able to pull that value even though it lists a sensor for it. Bimmerlink doesn't list that sensor, so maybe it's not possible to monitor. I am able to monitor the transmission's output shaft speed and turbine speed, though... am I correct in assuming that if those are the same, the torque converter is locked? Running in 6th gear at around 100km/h both values were often sitting at 288 rpm, but having it there didn't seem to impact the operating temp much. I also read somewhere that when the fuel efficiency gauge is at about 1/2 way or lower (which, on a Canadian model would be 10L/100km), that indicates that the torque converter is locked, but I couldn't find any way to keep it locked in that zone at highway speed with any kind of incline. If keeping the torque converter locked is important, how can I do that and tell when I'm doing it?
Thanks!

Feeling good about my setup. La Pavoni and used k30 commercial
I like buying used gear and making it nice! I also highly value gear that can be repaired and maintained. I’ve been using my 2011 La Pavoni for a three years now. I’ve gone from a lido e hand grinder ,which I still have, to a fellow opus and then a used niche zero. I recently bought a used Italian e61 espresso machine. I liked it but I didn’t love it. I sold the unit for $100 profit.
I’ve been wanting to try flat burrs so when I saw this Mahlkonig k30 for sale for $1500 I offered $500 and snagged it up. The asking price was a joke as I quickly found it was as a huge nasty mess inside. The hopper is broken but also so silly huge. I’ve ordered a new 1/3 sized hopper and a burr set along with a random missing internal part (the chute is missing the lid which allows grounds into the machine. I’ve temporarily fixed it with a piece of paper and a rubber band.)
With new burrs the k30 will go head to head with the Niche that I picked up in March. I’m thinking the winning grinder will be the k30 and I’ll be set forever with fully serviceable gear. That or I’ll be taking this k30 to eBay for a profit.
All cleaned up and set to my portafilter, I am enjoying the new hands free work flow of the k30. It’s nice not dealing with bean weighing. It’s also super quiet which I really like. I know my La Pavoni well enough that I don’t weight and time shots anymore. The workflow is only the fun parts that I like now.
What do you guys think? I might miss the niche for single dose and the hand grinder will be the go-to for the rare drip coffee.

2024.05.14 18:42 BigCharlie16 The secret in starting the “right” conversation with the opposite camp

I came across this very good video, he is Israeli, he flew to US to speak to student protesters in Washington DC, he starting talking with this young American Jew Pro-Palestine protester, you will see the protest organizers tried to stop them from talking… then plot twist two older Palestinians pulled him aside and wanted to continue talking with him without the protesters interferring/ chanting loudly. https://youtu.be/bngdpQOG3BM?si=TutfpzuienKmKy6l
  1. Always stay calm. Dont raise your voice, dont raise your fist…if it gets a bit loud, try to calm down the situation. We are in the campus of a prestigious university, we can have a civil conversation without the need to raise our voice.
  2. Know your FACTS. And know the “facts” of the opposite camp. Do your homework and try to debunk them at home with facts. He could have gone one up, by showing the facts on his phone. I have no idea what is a Cohen DNA.
  3. Talk coherently, one point at a time. It may surprise you…. some of their “understanding” may shock you. You might need some time to wrap your head around this reply. I bet he too is shocked and needs a moment to digust want new facts you saying. This young American Jew thought he was ethnically Polish.
  4. To dispel a myth, you need to peel it like an onion, layer by layer, exposing the misunderstanding / fallacy…its a bit like playing chess… you are thinking 5 steps ahead, you are just guiding him and helping him reach the logical conclusion you want and have foreseen. Of course he thinks he reached his own conclusions himself, but you lead him there.
Example: A Christian that no longer believes in Jesus, they are no longer a Christian. A Muslim that rejects Muhammed they are no longer a Muslim. If a Jew doesnt believe in HaShem or Adonai, is he still a Jew ? Yes he is still a Jew, because Judaism is more than just religion. Judaism is an identity of an ancient civilization.
This American Jew thinks there are thousands and thousands of Palestinian Jews practising Judaism in Palestine. The Israeli is so shocked he doesnt know how to respond. What does a Palestinian Jew even mean ? (Now current). He brushed it off as that doesnt exist. He could have show demography of Palestine, how many “Palestinian Jews” live in Palestine. This is where phone comes in handy.
  1. Be prepare to condemn your side for the things you disagree with. An Israeli criticizing Nethanyahu is common. A Palestinian criticizing Abu Mazen is common.
  2. Stop using buzzwords …Genocide. Apartheid. Colonist. Ethic Cleansing. Terrorist. Baby killer. He didnt give many examples of the Palestinian side. It doesnt help the conversation. If it does pop up, start by agreeing on the definition, and go from there. To better relate to the opposite camp, say it but without using these buzzwords. Preventing us from understanding the complexities. Say Palestinians go through checkpoints.
  3. Aparheid system is a system with one government, one country with different rights for different people. All Israelis including 20% Arab/Palestinian population have full equal rights. Then in West Bank, separate land under the Palestinian Authority. Obviously, those Palestinians living there dont have rights to Israel. And vice versa. Gaza was under the separate authority of Hamas. People living in Gaza do not have rights to Israel. And vice versa. Three separate lands with different jurisdictions with different population.
At least he explained it in a very simple manner, simple enough for the other person to understand.
  1. Those student protest chants…9:38 are full of hate. These chants are not people wanting peace for Middle East. “God willing, Allah will take your life” ? No wonder some Jewish students are intimidated and afraid. And that young American Jew support these chants? See the person you are conversing as a human beings, you dont have to like him, just be courteous.
  2. Dont make it personal. Separate this person you speaking to from the others. I done nothing to you, I was born in 1993, I have nothing to do with it. You wont say every action of a Palestinian represents all Palestinians. Abu Mazen doesnt represent me (Palestinian). He is $#@&* Just because there are leaders who are wrong, that doesnt mean all those people are responsible for those leaders.
  3. There is good people and bad people in this world. There is good Palestinians and bad Palestinians. Abu Mazen is bad person. You would say that is not Palestinian, that is Abu Mazen. There are also good and bad Zionists, Israeli or Jew.
  4. I dont agree with this, but its a tactic. Together we (Israeli and Palestine) blame someone else for our problems. He picked British. The Britished started this conflict. They pitted Jews against Arabs, in their divide and conquer strategy. I think maybe blame UN, everyone thinks UN is incompetent.
—————
I want to add I dont think its the responsibility of Israelis to teach young Pro-Palestinian American Jews what is Judaism, what is a Jew, etc.. I feel that’s something American Jewish community should be able to help teach/ guide them. If Israelis are going to be starting conversation with anyone about peace in Middle East, they will talk with Palestinians…not white or American Jewish Pro-Palestinian protesters.

2024.05.14 18:41 Budget-Solution-8650 "We'll solve it in post" they said - keyframes help needed

Hi everyone, thanks in advance those who will try to help me:
I am working on the color grading of a project that was handed to me, theoretically very simple: a music video, voice and double bass, a single long take shot with a Fujifilm XH2 in an empty venue with a couple of spotlights, one warm and one blue (imagine the classic club/disco light). A very amateurish project in terms of photography, but the Fujifilm file seems great to work with.
The problem is that the genius who shot this video left the white balance on automatic. When they delivered it to me, I wanted to cry.
The blue light aimed at the subject's head (practically burning their hair) and the warm light behind her have created total chaos. The photography isn't so terrible to look at, but adjusting it is a nightmare due to the continuous drastic temp changes and color shifts. In certain parts, every 3 frames, the scopes go crazy, spiking into the reds.
I worked on it frame by frame (a total of 483 cuts and about 20 hours of work), trying to fix it as much as possible using the Parade.
The result is acceptable in the sense that there are no more abrupt jumps from one frame to another, but there is still a substantial color shift between different parts of the video, especially when it transitions from one close-up to another (remember, it's a single take).
And this is where you come in. I would like to understand the best way to use keyframes to balance the colors through video, working BEFORE the nodes I created for correcting the various clips to be sure of not clipping anything. The problem is that keyframes do not work in Group nodes, while Timeline nodes (as far as I understand) act AFTER the clip nodes.
I hope I was clear, English is not my first language. I appreciate any kind of help, thank you!

2024.05.14 18:40 ando_da_pando Router worse coverage than a single mesh unit?

I have a TP-Link AXE5400 (tri-band) router that is connected to Xfinity's 300/20 plan. It's located in my main bedroom and we get excellent speeds in the house. But when I'm in my office shed, I'm lucky to get 30/10 speeds. It's more the consistency that is a pain because it's gotten as slow as like 2-3 Mbps. Not good since I do video calls and I don't want to risk disconnecting.
I went ahead and got a TP-Link Deco AXE5300 (tri-band also) from Costco, because I thought it might help so I can place one unit in the window closest to the shed and get more consistent connection. Got it installed and wireless throughout the house was just kind of lame. YT was buffering more (the kids hated that) and I had trouble with my Plex Media Server (even with the NAS wired to the Deco unit).
Gave up after a couple days and planned to return it. In the meantime, I thought I'll move the AXE5400 to the location near the window to see if that helped. Went up to about 50/15 speeds. Today, I thought, screw it, let's try the Deco again, started up one unit in the main bedroom in the same location, I'm getting 150/20 speeds off that single unit.
So both routers are Wifi 6E and have the 6GHz band. The only difference (at least that count) I can see is that one is a mesh wifi and the other is a wireless router. The wireless router has 6 external antennas and Deco does not.
  1. Why are my speeds better with the Deco over the wireless router?
  2. I prefer a wireless router (I prefer a "one device" solution here, not particularly fond of mesh solutions), so would keeping the router I have and getting an AP (like the TP-Link TL-WA3001 or TL-WA1201) work better than getting a "better" router like the Asus AXE7800 or TP-Link AXE7800?
I'm just trying to get a better signal out to the shed so I can have consistency more than speed, but also would like to get some speeds going because it's painfully slow for downloading things (I have to download and upload a lot of very large files for work all day).
And please don't suggest wiring Ethernet. I know it's the best solution already, but I'm not there yet to do that.

2024.05.14 18:40 ok2888 What are your thoughts and experiences on single sex schools?

I went to an all boys school in South London and it was fucking brutal. I basically consider myself to have had an experience akin to 5 years in prison. Violence was part and parcel of daily life, no one was safe, popular or not. Unlike most schools where a few kids get bullied, everyone got bullied by everyone else. I saw some pretty nuts things, people being dragged off a toilet mid shit and attacked, someone having their leg stamped on and snapped deliberately, someone having both their front teeth kicked out during a fight over a £2 coin and then continuing to fight over the money with his teeth on the floor, someone getting stabbed in the face with a piece of glass giving him lifelong injuries, people having daily "belt fights" where a group of people would whip eachother with their belt buckles and the last man standing wins, people being strangled with their ties to the point of passing out, someone getting their kneck crushed between 2 desks with 4 people on either side pushing as hard as they could, literally almost killing him. Many people carried knives and there were at least 2 incidents of stabbings on school grounds, one of them serious. There would be mass corridor riots probably once a week where even teachers would be attacked. There were organised fights on which people could even place bets. Sometimes teachers would intimidate or attack students for not reaching target grades. The way the school was run was extremely corrupt, they would do anything to inflate ofsted grades and did not care about people being bullied etc. A firework was once detonated during assembly and then again at break in a crowd of people knocking several of them to the floor. There were people actively involved in gang life and some went to prison for things like murder (outside of school). One guy in my tutor group who was actually a nice bloke now carries a gun and has been shot and also shot at people. There was 1 guy in the year above me who went to prison for 4 years because he got caught trying to join ISIS in an ICT lesson.
I could go on for ages about some of the things but those are the ones that come to mind. I have some good memories and lifelong friends from that time but it's also had a negative impact on me. I'm incredibly conflict averse as I fear violence. I'm also incredibly sexually and romantically inexperienced at 22 because I became used to not being around girls and women my age and don't really know how to interact with them outside of a platonic friendship.
know this isn't technically a uni based question but I thought this would be a good group of people to ask.

2024.05.14 18:39 Dazzling_Street_3475 Dislocated my Shoulder at Crossfit - Recovery Write-up

Hey everyone, I wanted to summarize the injury I had, how it affected me, and the rehab process. I'll make edits every three months or so to track my progress and return to CF.
Background: I'm a 27 y/o guy who had been doing CF for about 1.5 years until my injury. I had seen steady progress in all aspects of CF since starting. I had previously lifted weights for 7 years.
December 2023: I went for a new PR power snatching and dislocated my shoulder while the barbell was overhead. I popped back in about a minute later. I go to the ortho that same day and get X-Rays. No bone damage thankfully. About a week later I get an MRI that confirms labral tear and a little bit of damage around some other tendons I don't remember the name of. No biceps tendon damage. I wear a sling for 4 weeks, doing one small CF workout before surgery for whatever reason.
I believe what led to the dislocation was a combination of poor mobility, improper recovery leading up to the attempt, and trying a weight that was outside of my strength range. Live and you learn I guess.
January 2024: Surgery exactly one month after dislocation. Surgeon tells me it was like my labrum had torn from the 8 o'clock hand to the 11 o'clock hand of a clock so not terrible. Told to wear a sling for 6 weeks.
February 2024: Since I work remotely, I really only wore my sling outside of the house and not all that often. Should've (?) been better about wearing the sling but I have no idea if that had any impact on my recovery since my arm was on my lap 8 hours a day. I began to run as exercise.
March 2024: In the beginning of the month I start physical therapy for an intended 12 weeks. Still running, not doing any weight training or modified CF.
April 2024: Running, did a 10k for the first time, slowly getting back into lifting weights, PT is going well.
May 2024: Quit running after the 10k (something I regret). I'm nearing the end of PT and would say my mobility is around 85% of what it used to be. Starting to get into weight lifting with minimal apprehension. I am still not able to do close to what my old CF self was. I cannot currently do any sort of pull ups, RMUs, BMUs, etc. I could probably snatch the bar and that's it.
As of today, I have not done any Crossfit in 5 months, and don't think I'll be full strength for a few more. I plan to just keep doing a body building split until I'm confident my range of motion is no longer compromised and I can perform everything overhead pain-free. I would rather do this than modify CF around my injury. It's actually been somewhat nice to take a break, get back into something I haven't done for a while, and try some other forms of exercise. Looking forward to getting back into it later this year.

2024.05.14 18:39 Sox-and-Dash I need advice on adding a channel drain in a concrete patio

I need advice on adding a channel drain in a concrete patio
1st we have been trying to built a dream patio for 2 years. We’ve hired a total of 6 contractors all of them said they needed to be paid upfront for labor and materials . So this time we said we’ll do it in smaller phases . We hired this guy who said he could do the patio in 9 days
The first part was leveling the patio , because the water would pool toward the house. He added leveling concrete and was supposed to add a channel drain. Once again we got ripped off . He has just completely disappeared. His phone is turned off and I don’t think his name is actually his name. We paid him $1,600 and still can’t use the patio. And he’s gone.
What can I do to build a channel drain? Can someone point me to a how-to or Home Depot guide I’m so f*king sick of getting ripped off and they all say the same thing .they show up say it’s easy . Get labor and materials cash then. Say they need more and then disappear. The same excuses too - car trouble, got sick, death in the family , weather

2024.05.14 18:38 DrewV4321 Donkey Kong Country 2 is my favorite 2D platformer!

Hi, I'm new to this subreddit, I have DKC2 and 3 physical SNES cartridges (I use to have DKC1 when growing up and yes I 101% it on NSO recently) DKC 2 is my favorite tho. Crocodile Isle is an amazing location and has very different vibes compared to Donkey Kong Island. The atmosphere is amazing and the music is incredible (my favorite themes from this game is Krokodile Kacophony and Krook March). I REALLY enjoy the challenge this game has, I seen people hey really mad, but honestly I never really yelled or felt that angery, I guess I have alot of patience, and I also just have really fun. The levels are fun and creative. I think it has the best bosses in the og trilogy, all of them are fun and challenging. I love getting all the collectables and getting to play the harder levels in the lost world as I go. Diddy Kong is my favorite Kong, Dixie is a close second. It has my favorite version of K. Rool, I seen a lot of people prefer his original design in DKC1 but I think his design in 2 is just as amazing, and makes him fittingly more threatening looking, he's also alot more threatening in this game, he kidnapped Donkey Kong, and you see at the end that he's abusing him as DK is tied up. His final boss is amazing, I actually prefer Krocodile Kacophony over Gang-Plank Galleon, his attacks are really fun to avoid while still having a set pattern (alot more challenging, complex and fun than his fight in DKC1 imo), and the way DK break free at the end to finish him off is just so good, the secret final boss is really good too (not as good as the the first final boss tho imo) where he comes back and you only get to attack him at the end. I also really love th graphics for these games, I think DKC2 did them better tho, I love the pre-rendered 3D models compressed to 2d sprites and the backgrounds and environments so much. What do you guys think of this game? Honestly it's tied with my other favorite 2D platformer, Yoshi's Island for the SNES. :)
