2024.05.15 05:42 BDOFORREAL Can I 5.3 swap a 2006 Monte Carlo LT

So obviously if you try hard enough you can motor swap anything, but how hard would this be. I have a 2006 Monte Carlo LT 2door FWD with a 3.5 V6, the motor blew up on it and before I decide to put a stock motor in I got this idea. The main concerns I have are 1. The computer system and wiring harness, 2. The transmission which I don’t think will match up, and 3. Is it smart to do this to a FWD
I’m just looking for advice on how difficult and expensive this would be, what all it’ll entail, and if it’s even worth it.

Had a very bad experience with dealership
Hello, I had a very bad experience with a dealership over rodent damage on my 2020 fit. The diagnostics on my vehicle revealed wire harness need to be replaced with rodent tape on it for that the with labor was $2,604.40. I was told on the phone had to pay that to get my car fix or make monthly payments due finance department. Long story short, went through my car insurance they determine that the wire harness did not need replace was fixable that honda did themselves for $776.81. I strongly feel this is fraud because would they tell me to replace the full wire harness when later on they were able to fix it for a fraction the price that they did not tell me only my car insurance adjuster was able to get it done this way.

2024.05.15 02:55 coleslaw17 2011 6.2 Raptor Dash/Transmission issues

Started having an issue recently where I’m driving and the dash will blank out to no data. Even the odometer reads - - - - - -.- - and all the gauges go to zero. At the same time, the transmission shifts eratically and hard. Engine power also seems diminished. The big wrench icon also appeared on the screen for half a second and disappeared. I tried to put it in manual to keep it in a gear to try not to damage the transmission as I slow down (it shifted from 4th to 1st going 45 mph). It did not respond at all to any of the manual shifts. Only remedy is to slow down and pull over then power cycle the vehicle. Just ignition off, key out, then back in and on. After that, no issues and drives like normal.
Tried to pull codes but it looks like it did not log anything at all. This has happened two times now. Both times it has happened was driving down a smooth paved road going 35-45 mph. I imagine this is an electrical issue either with a failing control or a wire in a harness got rubbed through and grounded.
Given there are no codes or lasting data in the memory that I can see, I really don’t know where to begin troubleshooting this. Especially since the issue is so intermittent and probably impossible to repeat. Maybe this is a known issue and my googling skills need work but I would appreciate it if anyone could point me in any direction. I have not brought it to the dealership or any other shop. Thanks for the help and sorry for the novel!

Power dash cam from sunroof harness?
Hello. Looking for a switched power source in my 2006 Sport. It has the typical map lights which I’m guessing is always powered since you can turn them on / off. Can anyone point me to which wires I may be able to use (tap into) from the harness that plugs into the sunroof motor? It’s a plug with 8 wires. I bought it used and am afraid to touch the sunroof switch anyway lol. Any help would be appreciated.

2024.05.14 23:55 Hurts-Dont-It- Knock Sensors

I have tried every sensor under the sun gm ,ac delco, Delphi, ext. I read somewhere that the duralast knock sensors work and no shit they do. I waited to post about it I wanted to give them time and it's been about a year and no issues or codes have came back. I did use the gasket maker to put a horseshoe around the foward side of the holes left the bottom open and removed the rear foam on the intake manifold. Mine like most had water in the knock sensor holes so what I did was use a shop vac to get the water out pull the sensor and valley pan than use a combo of a heat gun and q tips till it was bone dry. I bought a engine brush kit which has like wire brushes that go into a impact and gave the holes a good brushing and hit it with the shop vac again and put the duralast sensors in. I used a gm or ac delco harness can't remember exactly.

2024.05.14 23:14 speedyguy97 Stumped

Here is my 84 944. Over the past few years I have slowly replaced everything in the starting and charging system. Currently has a new battery, alternator, starter, ignition switch, along with a new harness for the starter and alternator. Everything seems to be working normally inside the car except the battery will not charge. So far I have swapped out the alternator and battery. The exciter wire seems to be functioning normally. Bulb is alight when key is in accessory position and goes out once the car is running. Grounds are good, cables are tight. Long drives kill the battery. Voltage is at 12v regardless of rpm.

The Atlas Cottage
Hi all! I was told to come post this here because you might like it. I made a little cottagecore diorama out of an old globe i thrifted. Only a few trinkets here and there aren’t hand crafted, check it out!
The bricks of the fireplace are hand carved with a metal nail file. The miniature quartz globe spins on its axis and is made from a large crystal bead and gold wire. The mantle is a block from an old mini jenga set.
Scrolls, books, and maps were made from bits of cardboard and old label scraps. The crystal ball collection are all beads and spacers.
the globe is lit by fairy lights twisted inside miniature handmade (hot glue) glowing mushrooms and the AA battery packs are harnessed under the upper levels so they can be pulled out and changed as needed.
Thanks for reading!

2024.05.14 22:59 Sleds4 Anyone interested in buying a 944 in Colorado?

Anyone interested in buying a 944 in Colorado?
It hurts to post this, but my wife and I recently decided to move out of the country which means I'll have to get rid of my 944.
I was in the middle of completely tearing out the interior and redoing it, so it is a project in it's current state. It currently doesn't run due to a corroded wiring harness, but it ran great before that went out. (OEM wiring harness from Germany is included with the car)
I just don't feel like spending more money on a car I won't get to enjoy.
Things the car needs: -Wiring harness install -oil pan gasket (it's not dire) -carpet install -body work
Things that have been done in the last year: - DME replaced - DME relay replaced - Speed and reference reference sensors replaced - Engine mounts replaced - Oil change (could probably use an oil change since it's been sitting) - Alternator replaced (Bosch replacement) - Battery replaced
Seats have been recently reupholstered and look amazing, the rest of the interior is gutted. Dash is cracked.
Aftermarket front and rear bumper from Fiberwerks and it does have aftermarket coil overs.
Looking for 6k obo since it doesn't run. I'm posting it here because I'd like to see it go to someone who will take care of it rather than just part it out. If there's no interest I'll throw it up on FBM and see what happens.
I can send plenty of pictures if anyone is interested!

2024.05.14 21:41 countfragington Samsung Dryer Repair - Wiring Harness Question

Hey all, so my Samsung Dryer (model DV42H5200EW/A3) had been throwing an HE code and ending it's cycle prior to cooling the clothes. I did some research and decided it was likely the heating element. Sure enough, I took out the housing and found the coil mostly black with the bottom half having broken out of its supports and resting on the housing. The lower terminal was broken off as well. I'm surprised it ran like this but either way, I removed the heating element and replaced it with a new one. Easy. However, I found that the terminal on the red wire (the only wire that was actually connected to the heating element) that connects to the terminal on the heating element has some burn marks, a small bit of melted sheathing, and a few broken strands. I'm sure this isn't ideal, but is it a hazard? Is it safe to continue running with this wire harness? It's an old Dryer and with a replacement harness costing around $200 it feels like if it's no good I should just buy a new dryer altogether.

2024.05.14 21:15 GardenOrdinary4800 2014 Sienna Limited P0303

I have a 2014 Sienna Limited AWD. I just installed a 4pin wiring harness for hauling a trailer. After finishing the job and reconnecting the battery I went to start the van and it immediately stalled. I then started it again and it ran fine. One day later my wife was driving when suddenly TRAC OFF, CHECK ENGINE, and AWD lights all came on. Had her bring the van to a parts store to run the code and came back as P0303. Did I screw something up with installing the trailer wiring? Is the ECU just wiped and needs time to relearn? The van otherwise drives fine and shows no other signs of issues.
