Hi~ I'm looking for someone to just chit chat, talk about hobbies and do silly stuff as friends. I'm kinda tired of guy spaces as the guys around me always talk about football, girls, and investing in stock market (ew). I'm not ready for a serious relationship yet, I just wanna make friends.
Here's some stuff about me:
• I'm 5'9... I guess? 175 in centimeters, idk the imperial system that well. I'm 110 kilos (which is a lot ik) but I promise don't look like I weigh that much.
• I have kinda long dark hair, I've grown it down to my shoulders before and I plan on growing it again. I usually dress quite simple with a t shirt and jeans with a jacket, all black, but I'd love to explore different styles. I'm very into alternative and grunge aesthetic and I'll definitely rebuild my wardrobe with alternative/grunge stuff once I lose the weight, especially feminine stuff like skirts...
• I often use he/him pronuns since I look way too manly but I'm actually trans! I usually prefer they/them pronouns over he/him and in long term I plan on starting HRT, just not right now. I'm still new to the community so I might not be able to answer most questions but if you're also queetrans and want to ask questions, or maybe just want another friend from the community I'd LOVE to too.
• I love jewelry and make up. I've just started using make up and I've only tried using foundation, eyeliner and nail polishes so far but I'm trying to improve. Also I love rings, earrings, bracelets... Not a big fan of necklaces but still, they're pretty.
• I don't oppose meeting irl but I'm usually extremely nervous around people I recently met so I prefer starting from online, I'd be open to discuss about an irl meeting afterwards.
• I listen to a variety of song genres but I love metal. Recently I've been listening A7X and Slipknot for the most of the time but I'm open to explore any genre.
• I'm very unfamiliar with TV series/movies but I'm willing to watch some new things. I've watched some anime in high school too, I watched AOT, Naruto and Fairy Tail as well as Black Lagoon and some other 12 episode short animes but I don't remember all of them. Anyway, I'm open to suggestions.
• I have a LOT of hobbies. I don't even know where to start. I play guitar a little and I make songs on FL studio but I'm still amateur, yet I have one or two songs that I've written and I'd love to have a friend to talk about music. I like talking about politics but I don't like strictly one sided opinions, I don't like fanatics. In terms of science I love astronomy and theoretical physics, and I will yap a lot about them if you'd like to listen. I also love philosophy and sociology even though I don't have that much knowledge about them so I'd probably listen more than talk about those topics. I also yap about economy sometimes but I know very little about it. I don't draw but I love art so if you're an artist I can hit you with one or two suggestions and an endless amount of compliments.
• I don't like religious debates. I respect everyone's belief but I don't like sharing opinions about each other's religion since it could raise the tension a lot so... I prefer to keep it to ourselves.
• I used to play games but my PC broke so I quitted about a year ago. The PC was old anyway so I could only play LoL, Call of Duty (old singleplayer ones like black ops 1), Need for Speed MW... I mostly played singleplayer games so I can't be a game buddy but I can talk about games.
Once you get to know me, you'll meet with a ton of shitposts, absolutely meaningless memes and made up scenarios where you might end up as a 10ft chair running away from a blood thirsted sea turtle named Globblegunk or overthrowing the government with an ape clan all using telekinesis to fight. My early season prediction of the Dodgers's infield defense being the biggest issue was completely wrong. Mookie looks natural at short, and Muncy has been playing pretty darn well at 3rd. We will be using our prayers this week to pray that Shohei is going to be okay | 27-15 | |
| 2 | Phillies | +1 | It's tough to end the week on a walkoff loss to the Marlins and feel good, but it's hard to complain about a 4-2 stretch. Nick Castellanos might finally not be the worst hitter in baseball after he says he started treating hitting like glorified batting practice again. Ranger Suarez has arguably been the best pitcher in baseball, pitching to a 1.5 ERA and an astounding 0.72 WHIP with team wins in each of his starts. Somehow this performance isn't even all that surprising for a guy with a 4.18 ERA last year. He was this dominant in a half season between the bullpen and rotation in 2021 and has a career 1.62 ERA in 7 postseason starts and 2 relief appearances. This week: another weird scheduling quirk as they play a 4 game set against the Mets with the first two at Citi Field and the next two in Philly before the Nats come to town for a 3 game series. | 28-13 | |
| 3 | Orioles | -1 | I was hoping the Orioles would go 5-1 this week but they went 4-2. Still nothing to be super upset about. I think the main concerns right now are Mullins is hitting under .200 and Santander still not hitting the way he can. Yesterdays game was just not great so hopefully it was just a one-off and can be flushed and they move on. Blue Jays and Mariners are in town this week so it doesn't get any easier. | 26-13 | |
| 4 | Yankees | 0 | Our pitching is so good right now. Anyone in the rotation could pull a Glasnow and write their number on a ball for a cute girl, and she’d call. Doesn’t even have to have their name. She doesn’t care if its’s Nestor Cortes or Clarke Schmidt. Yankees starter? She’s calling, and she’s shaving her legs beforehand. If we signed Pete Davidson for some spot starts there'd be a second baby boom. By the way, my nickname for Clarke Schmidt used to be Farte Schidt. He has very much made me eat my aforementioned schidt this year, and officially has the second-best starter ERA behind Luis Gil, as we all predicted. In other news, Judge and Stanton both have their pop at once, Soto is doing what Soto does, and Verdugo is playing sneaky good right now. We also officially took the season series against Houston 6-1, which feels GREAT. If only they were a playoff team so we could finally bounce them this year. Oh well. A Yankees-A’s ALCS it is. | 27-15 | |
| 5 | Braves | 0 | The walk off loss hurts, but can't be too upset with a 4-1 bounce back week! Big time perfromance from our SP. Giving up only 4 ERs in 23.2 IP (1.52 ERA) in these 5 games. Our bats are not what we have come to expect, but that can't last much longer. Signs of life from Acuña and Olson and continued performance by Ozuna. If by the end of May we don't see massive improvement to our offensive numbers, I will be surprised. Until then, buckle up because the offense is coming. | 24-13 | |
| 6 | Twins | +3 | Another great week, Sausage be praised! We took series from the Blue Jays and Mariners with both blowouts and well-pitched close games. I think it's safe to say that the team has found its groove, and this is how the Twins can be expected to perform moving forward. The only blip has been that the bullpen is having a slight slump, but that will even out shortly. | 24-16 | |
| 7 | Brewers | 0 | Paul Who? The only starting pitcher debut I care about is BOBBY GAS who threw 6 innings of 2 hit, 0 run ball in a win against the Cardinals. He fills a much needed spot in the Brewers rotation, and likely would have been up sooner if not for an injury of his own. Rhys Hoskins also had a monster week, racking up 3 HR and 9 RBI in hist last 5 games. I had my doubts this young lineup and shaky rotation actually could be a contending ballclub over 162 games, but I'm not going to argue with the results. | 24-16 | |
| 8 | Guardians | -2 | Another bad week. The Guardians had rough series against the Tigers and the mighty World Champion favorite White Sox. This coming week, we play the reigning World Series champs and the hottest team in our division. I'm not worried. Not at all. | 25-16 | |
| 9 | Cubs | -1 | The Cubs went 3-3 this week in what felt like a complete microcosm of their season. While they did get Justin Steele, Cody Bellinger, and Seiya Suzuki back from injury, they lost Dansby Swanson and Yency Almonte, who had been a rare reliable bullpen arm. Christopher Morel also had a scare after tweaking his knee sliding into sexond, but fortunately is alright. Otherwise, the offense remained inconsistent, the starting pitching was outstanding, and the bullpen was abysmal at worst and heart-stopping at best. While he didn't continue his usual dominance against them, Ian Happ extended his streak of 62 consecutive games reaching base vs the Pirates. This week, the Cubs travel to Atlanta to take on the Braves before hosting the Pirates for 4 games. | 24-17 | |
| 10 | Royals | +2 | The Royals have a chance to be in first place by themselves this late in the season for the first time since 2016. It feels like a lifetime ago. Yes, it is just seven weeks into the season but hopes are usually gone by this point. Maybe this year can be different. | 25-17 | |
| 11 | Mariners | 0 | Apologies for any typos, doing this from mobile is miserable. Not the best week, but given the pitching hiccups I can't complain too much. Woo is back (and hopefully staying back, him getting pulled was a bit of a scare.) The next few series are another gauntlet, and if the M's can make it through playing relatively well they'll be in a good positon to take advantage of their schedule for the end of the month and early June. Up next: 3 vs. Roy L's, 3 @ Oreo L's | 22-19 | |
| 12 | Padres | +2 | The San Diego Madres beat LA on both día de las Madres (friday) as well as Mother’s Day, wherein both we got great pitching performances from King and Darvish respectively. Arraez capped off the walk-off win on friday, and it was nice to see Bogaerts get one deep on Sunday. So far in ‘24 the Padres haven’t lost a series to the Dodgers, whether in LA, San Diego, or South Korea. It’s a bit cathartic, though I do wish there was less blue in the stands this weekend though. Really interested to see how they come out against the rocks, as SD was only able to split the 4-game series earlier in the season. This one lines up between the series’s vs LA and ATL, it could be a bit of a trap, hoping the Pads continue their series winning streak (which is now at 4) and just take care of business. | 22-21 | |
| 13 | Rangers | -3 | The baseball gods are unforgiving. Sacrfices have to be made and will continue to be made to the baseball gods. Oh dear baseball gods please forgive our hubris for thinking the baseball suffering was over. It was not but also, flags fly forever. | 22-20 | |
| 14 | Red Sox | -1 | The Sox have not been having a good May. Losing Casas has been brutal, and the expected bump in performance from Vaughn Grissom at 2nd hasn't happened (well, at least not yet). As a team we have a decent looking triple slash, but situationally they've been horrible. In high leverage PAs, the Sox are hitting .195/.264/.272 in 247 PAs. We have loads of talent, but there's always some issue whether it be defense or clutch hitting that holds us back from being truly competitive. | 21-19 | |
| 15 | Tigers | 0 | The City Connects... phew phew phew. Looks like we got tire tracks laid on us after a truck ran us over. No thanks. I hate it... and that's not even mentioning the dumb hat. In terms of actual baseball, though, Tarik Skubal is still Skuballing. This week: 3 vs. MIA, 3 at ARI. | 20-20 | |
| 16 | Rays | 0 | It was a .500 week for the Rays, and the good news is things are looking better, but only like maybe? Randy and Yandy seem to be coming back a bit; glancing at the lineup's batting avg in the game threads isn't painful anymore. Ben Rortvedt is over .300 in the catcher position which is unheard of for this team. The bad news is pitching is only bouncing back from abysmal to below average. A week against division opponents on the road will test if that improvement is here to stay or if it was just a new uniform bounce. | 20-21 | |
| 17 | D-Backs | +3 | The Diamondbacks have been winning more games of late but are still underperforming their Pythagorean record and are 3 games below .500 despite a +17 run differential. Reinforcements should be coming back from injury soon which should help. | 19-22 | |
| 18 | Mets | -1 | I prewrote a big and extremely negative blurb about the Mets getting swept by the Braves. That did not happen, Brandon Nimmo hit a walk off homer on Sunday Night Baseball immediately as I was about to close my computer. Never been so glad to be wrong. | 19 | Nationals | 0 | Two large accomplishments for the Nats in the last week - 1) For the first time since 2021, the Nats climbed over .500 with an opening win over the Orioles in a 2-game series. 2) Patrick Corbin recorded a win this week vs the Red Sox (his first since 9/11/23 vs the Pirates). The Nationals quickly slid back under .500 losing the 2nd game vs the Orioles and then 2 of 3 against the Red Sox. James Wood is hitting everything in AAA (over 1.000 OPS) so there are lots of calls for HRCHU. | 19-20 | |
| 20 | Blue Jays | +1 | Very up and down week for the Cyrulean Winged Creatures of Ontario. A 1-1 split with Philly and a 1-2 tilt vs Minnesota extended a too-long stretch of not winning series. Turns out, the combination of bad offense and a bad bullpen is bad. But there have been some glimpses of hope, at least. Alek Manoah threw a gem on Sunday, giving up 0 ER and 1 BB over 7 IP with 6 Ks. Also, Vladdy is hot as shit right now; since the last week of March, he's been hitting over .400 with a nearly 1.000 OPS. Still, the Jays in general continue to underperform and hover just below .500. Mid-May is not the time to freak out and this team is in too deep to consider a full tear-down even in a lost year, but things will be getting worrisome if they can't pull out of this middling stretch that has defined the first quarter of the season. | 18-22 | |

| 22 | Athletics | 0 | Happy Mother's Day, say hi or I'll drop by. Rough week, our bullpen had some awful games esp w/ Kotsay's choices. Will possibly fall below the Astros this week as we play them along with the Royals, and unlike last year I don't think we're a better team than KC. Toro and Harris have been playing well with Soderstrom getting some reps in (A+ defense from them), but Gelof will likely return and change something there. | 19-23 | |
| 23 | Reds | -5 | What is the meaning of suffering? This question has stumped philosophers throughout the ages, but nobody has come up with an answer. On the opposite side of this, we have also been in search of evidence of the divine, and we’ve searched for it in things like the miracle of our world. But again, we haven’t found anything. What if we’re looking in the wrong place? What if suffering is the greatest proof of a divine presence? Suffering is an art. Perhaps the greatest art ever devised. Devised by who or what though? Some greater power looming over us all? Some great cosmic being who looks upon us the same way as we do ants? Some primordial consciousness created trillions of years ago in the Big Bang that’s been merely existing all this time and only gets enjoyment out of the suffering of others? How do we figure this out? Who do we ask? I have a suggestion, we can ask baseball fans. We are connoisseurs of suffering. Ask an A’s fan about the meaning of suffering and you’ll get your answer just by looking into their eyes. Ask a Rockies fan, or a White Sox fan, or even a long dead Expos fan. It’s weeks like this that make me ask why do people even like baseball. Why do I even like baseball? Well, I remember my grandfather, since I live in the midwest we always called him Papaw, and he was the biggest baseball nut I know. He got me into baseball at a young age, and I remember one day asking why he loved it so much. When I say he was a baseball nut, I mean he was a season ticket holder, bought all the merchandise, had books about baseball and biographies written by baseball players, he had all of it. He could tell you everything about the sport with ease. So I asked him why did he love baseball so much because at that time I found it boring, and you know I still to this day remember his response. He told me baseball is 3 hours of nothing happening, but when something did happen, it was the most beautiful sport god ever created. I loved that man. Anyway this is all a long way to say the Reds suck ass right now. | 17-23 | |

| 25 | Pirates | -2 | Paul Skenes made his highly-anticipated debut on Saturday, and it was one of two games the Pirates won last week. And they only won that game after first blowing a 6-1 lead thanks to 6 (SIX!) walks with the bases loaded. At one point. Kyle Nicolas threw 12 straight balls with the bases loaded. The bullpen was so depleted that Nicolas had to pitch the next day after Aroldis Chapman gave up 2 runs and 2 walks in the 10th inning, only for Nicolas to give up another run on a wild pitch. The Pirates then hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the inning and lost 5-4. So yeah, that's how things are going in Pittsburgh right now. | 18-23 | |

| 27 | Angels | 0 | Hot and then cold and then hot again, Jo Adell hit three homers this past week. With a wRC+ on the season now standing at 134 and a wOBA of .363, the next step for him is now maintaining a level of consistency. With a bottom-ranking farm system, his future may not ultimately be in Anaheim. The looming rebuild is going to be a long and slow process and at the age of 25, it is hard to see much point in keeping him if someone else starts looking his way. | 15-26 | |
| 28 | Rockies | +2 | We have the longest winning streak in baseball. We just swept the defending champs. I'm pretty sure that means Rocktober is coming. In all seriousness, the Rockies finally gelled for the first time this season. The Rangers didn't play poorly, the Rockies just played well. The concern now is what kind of "Coors Hangover" we'll see. | 12-28 | |
| 29 | White Sox | 0 | The White Sox had a shockingly good week while clinching the season series against the Rays and winning 3 of 4 from the Guardians over the weekend. They have been playing objectively better baseball lately (which means that their 72 wRC+ season stat was at 84 last week, and their pitching has been middle of the league since the start of May). It's not much, but it's something. Myself, I'm excited to attend my first ball game of the year tonight. Of course, I'll be going to the Schaumburg Boomers home opener. | 12-29 | |

I'm trying to make the spiritual successor to Xwing for 90s DOS everyone craved, but Lucas Arts never delivered. I was also inspired by Wing Commander Privateer who's title led me to imagining building a giant fleet by buying more and more ships and making friends.It has a bunch of bugs but these will be fixed in a week or two. It's still pretty fun and a base by which a HUGE HUGE potential WOW killer will be made on. fairly long patch notes of a subset of what I plan on doing in the future are at the bottom.

I'm exhausted... I spent close to a year on this patch... And the last 3 months was nothing but sleep, code, sleep, code, body necessities, balanced against being stress sick, normal sick, and trying not to break down due to being isolated non stop working... About 2000 hours in this patch alone, on top of 10,000 hours in the past 6 years before that, and I use an anthology of game resources that took me 20,000 hours to make. There's some bugs due to Unity compiling standalone improper from editor, but they'll be fixed, as well as the story line not in... --Three forms of Ground Combat: GROUND COMBAT FORM I) One is a classical First Person Shooter (FPS) with vehicles.
GROUND COMBAT FORM II) One is tactical Real Time Turn Based Game(RTTG) from top down, almost isometric. RTTG will give you the feel of a classic orthogonic chess like game with cover, vision and such, yet everyone plays at the same time. RTTG mode happens when you enter populated towns, not because the server can't handle infinite players in a small zone, but because it feels more intense when any action and fight can start from the shadows. Movement is freer and faster when no one has fights going on nearby.

I hate that I use this account to post these sad rants but this is my new way of trying to explain myself. I’ve let months go by simply by accepting I’ll die soon.
I had my first serious attempt yesterday (none have come this close). Mother’s Day. Who does that ? My whole immediate family including young kids (my first baby cousins) came over. Usually at these parties I’m one of the best dressed, on making drinks, somehow am also the entertainer and the one to get the kids to sit/eat. Can’t even imagine my family getting to the house and finding me lifeless. Yet I still tried to die. Due to my appearance and having avoided my family for the last few months.. everyone asked me if I was “okay”. I was pretty good with avoiding these pursuits of answers by helping in the kitchen and playing with the kids. No sane adult is going to force you, an adult, to start explaining where/what you’ve been when a kid is playing with you or your hands are occupied. I pathetically took advantage of this. I’ve always been relatively close to my family but I’ve burned ties twice now. First time around this time last year and second time we are currently in. What got me out of that first time ? I’m not really sure. I think I just knew I had to try one more time before really giving up. There were some cornered moments and while my loved ones were just doing what family does (checking in) I just kept replaying my attempt that occurred precisely two hours before anyone got there. I wore a dress with a collar. This collar was important because my neck was extremely bruised and looked scratched. My attempt if not apparent by now was by partial hanging. I put makeup on it and left my hair down to cover. It wasn’t enough but this goes to show how good I was with avoiding eye contact and being investigated. My sister isn’t easily fooled. We were setting up some food before people arrived and she asked me what happened to my neck. I didn’t even take the time to come up with a story just in case. Was it a cry for help? I wasn’t going to let it be. I somehow blamed it on my necklace scratching me when I took it off. To this second I don’t know how she believed me or the conversation shifted. Must have been a combination of my tone/mannerism and her just going with the flow because I was actually present. I haven’t been with anyone in so long. My isolation has ruined everything. Anyways I put more concealer and kept a smile for my family. My dad walked into the gathering with flowers for everyone. After greeting everyone he approached me with my own orchid and a trinket for me. I am not a mother but he made it a point to include me and to remind me he thinks of me. The trinket can be described as a decoration for a table. An all in all thoughtful gift. It has in cursive “live the life you love, love the life you live” with a clip I’m guessing to add a picture. I immediately grabbed it, turned it around so I wasn’t reading it anymore, somehow changed the conversation and he being my father (I believe knows me more than I think), took the hint to walk away. I’m grateful he did because I was about to have a mental breakdown. I somehow held my tears back and forced my attention back to my baby cousin which wasn’t hard she was drawing and wanted me to see. After a bit of this she wanted to go by the front of the house to play and her mom was there alone. This is down a hall away from where we were. I felt time move slow as we made eye contact and my mouth go dry as the space between us was closing. I knew what was coming. Everyone else was congregated in the kitchen and family room. A simple what’s up how have you been was about to send me over the edge. I didn’t even notice I was holding my dads gift in my right hand. She grabbed my left hand and instinctively said “wow I’ve never seen your skin this pale it’s like porcelain”. She didn’t mean it in a bad way just stating a fact. I looked at her and as my eyes started tearing up she let go. She asked me if I was sad and I said I can’t talk now because I’ll lose it. Thing is once I start I can’t stop. I told her I needed to go to the bathroom. She called her daughter said we need to talk I said okay and went to my bathroom upstairs. As I stared at myself in the mirror now completely alone I realized just how different I have to look to everyone. I looked at my dads gift and really started crying. After a few sobs I somehow managed to stop crying and fix my makeup a bit. I went back down to the party mostly to try to prove I’m okay and avoid being a topic. I know this was the bare minimum thing to do. I know this isn’t who I should be. This weekend coming is a bigger party. Point is I barely survived yesterday. I’m one of the youngest in my family not including the baby cousins. That being said everyone is older and has way more stressors than me. They either have kids, their careers, more bills, and whatever else. These people manage to go to every party, maintain conversation, and overall be apart of the family. I 23 unemployed overweight believe I can’t get it together. I can’t be apart of anything. I went through college and from the moment that last semester ended didn’t know what the fuck to do next. Before my attempt yesterday morning I spent an hour on a suicide hotline. I never admitted to the woman on the phone how close I was to the edge. This is what I wrote down after the call “I told her almost everything. The isolation, how I let myself go, and how I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I couldn’t actually say what my plan was. The lady was really nice. We agreed I should face everyone and get professionally evaluated. I didn’t really mean it. I’m going to die before I face anyone and I couldn’t tell her I can’t tell anyone. She was a really nice lady. I wonder if she’s a mom. It’s Mother’s Day. Mommy I can’t do it. You were always there for me. Always answered me. I can’t answer you anymore. I wish I could’ve talked to you. I wish I would’ve just talked. For what it’s worth I do love you. “. My mother called me around 9AM Mother’s Day morning. Said she needs help getting gifts ready and I told her I felt bad. She said how everyone is worried and I have no reason to be this far gone/sad. I somehow got the conversation to end. She ended saying I was going to be okay that we’re going to get me a therapist just have to get through mothers day and next weeks party. I said I love you and immediately tied the belt around my neck. I was seeing black, choking, ears ringing, and arms shuffling. Something came over me and I got myself out of it. I didn’t even cry. I went to my bathroom showered, got dressed, and you know the rest. Now I’m here 4 o’clock the next day writing. I have spent the whole day in bed. I think subconsciously I’ve let myself go into this isolation to weaken my body. For it to be easier for me to die and severed connections for it to be easier for those around me. I don’t know what I want from writing this down. I know my throat feels sore and I think I want to know why this is happening. I want to somehow try to put a reasoning behind everything. Somehow find a way to maybe really talk to one of the people that care without breaking down and shooting blanks with my mouth. I’ve tried even though it looks to those around me I haven’t. I'm trying to make the spiritual successor to Xwing for 90s DOS everyone craved, but Lucas Arts never delivered. I was also inspired by Wing Commander Privateer who's title led me to imagining building a giant fleet by buying more and more ships and making friends.It has a bunch of bugs but these will be fixed in a week or two. It's still pretty fun and a base by which a HUGE HUGE potential WOW killer will be made on. fairly long patch notes of a subset of what I plan on doing in the future are at the bottom.

I'm exhausted... I spent close to a year on this patch... And the last 3 months was nothing but sleep, code, sleep, code, body necessities, balanced against being stress sick, normal sick, and trying not to break down due to being isolated non stop working... About 2000 hours in this patch alone, on top of 10,000 hours in the past 6 years before that, and I use an anthology of game resources that took me 20,000 hours to make. There's some bugs due to Unity compiling standalone improper from editor, but they'll be fixed, as well as the story line not in... Author note: Ok, so this is my second attempt at posting this story. I wrote the first attempt a couple years ago, got a few chapters in, and got discouraged and distracted by life. This time I’ve got a bit more buffer, but also have started to use this as a way to destress, so it will be much more consistent. I also have grown a bit as a writer, so the content has more punch and flow.
All that aside, criticism and feedback is ALWAYS a good thing for me. I love hearing from people, even if it’s only to say “hey, you wrote “their” when you meant “they’re”.” So let me know what you think!
It was an impressive view. Stars like diamond dust sprinkled across the dark velvet of open space... I should be getting used to this kind of view as I woke up to it every day, but Carla knew it never got old for me, so she made sure we faced open space when my wakeup notes sounded. "Up and at 'em! You slept too long, and now you need to get to work!" I buried my head deeper into the pillow. "You know how grumpy it will make you if you sleep in, and it's not good for you anyway."
"I know, I know. I'm up, I swear. Just give me a minute, ok?" I rolled out of the sleeping alcove and floated into the main cockpit. "So, have we gotten to the open sky yet? I'm assuming we're close if you've got the engines off right now."
A screen at the front of the cockpit lit up and displayed a simple map. "Yeah, we're there. I mean, the location we were shooting for was open space, so it's not like we have a 'there' to be, but we are where we wanted to be." Carla flashed a small red ship icon on the map. "As expected, there is nothing in the path of our travel for another 3 weeks on our current course. Today though, we will be able to scan an uncharted region of the belt, and maybe find something worth spending our fuel on. Of course, you already know all this, because we have had the SAME DISCUSSION EVERY DAY FOR A WEEK!" Carla spoke with such exasperation I had to laugh. "And you think it's funny! I'll have you know I could have taken up with that diplomat, her ship was ten times the size of this tin can, and she would probably have new and interesting things to talk about every day. Unlike you, she would have a life that was more than just finding rocks and slinging them at Ceres or Mars."
"Oh, come on now, it's not like I don't have ANYTHING interesting to say... I just like the calm out here. It does a soul good to be able to see out into the infinite void and relax. But if you want to get to work, we can do that. Bring up the radar and letâs get some pings out, see what's in the neighborhood."
Carla huffed, but I could tell her heart wasn't really in it. "Ok, meatbag. Pings out. Give me a few seconds to get back the data and... that's interesting."
I bounced over to the console. "What are you seeing, Carla?" I pulled myself up and strapped down so I could concentrate.
"Well, there's a strange reading from this one item. It's showing up as a solid object, but just barely. The radar ping bounced back, but it's weaker than it should be. It's almost like it's hollow or surrounded by debris. But there's nothing in the area registered as a construct, and it's far too big to be one anyway. So either something is wrong with my sensors, there's been a near miss here recently, or something weird is going on."
"And we both know that nothing is wrong with your sensors, or you would have already had me out there to fix them. So, near miss or weirdness... Let's get a spectrograph reading on it, see if it shows any hydrocarbon lines. A dead comet after a near miss would show big water and carbon lines, and a comet like that would be worth a lot to the terraformers on Mars. If it's high metal, we can probably scoop out good material from the cloud."
"But if it's neither metal or carbon rich, we don't want to go near it. A bunch of loose rocks from a near miss aren't worth a hole in our hull, or damage to my scopes." Carla finished the thought for me. "Ok, I'll start up the Spectro, see what it is. I'll also run analysis on the other 3 rocks in the area, see if anything else is worth grabbing out here. Go shower up and get some food in you, this will take a few minutes, and you kinda stink."
"Ok, well, let me know immediately if you find anything really interesting. I've got a strange feeling about that weak bounce."
After washing up in the "shower" stall, I went to the kitchen module to warm up some eggs. The ship was rotating gently, just enough to give me a slight sense of 'down' without actually making me weigh much. This meant that 'cooking' was usually limited to warming up premade meals, but I was used to that. Having grown up on Ceres, I hadn't had much home cooking as a kid, and I had been a rockhound since I turned 17 so my whole adult life had been in similar circumstances. I was packing some bacon with the eggs between defrosted toast, and after a moment of thought, I added a few leaves from the lettuce I grew in the aero-hydro tank. I had asked Carla to remind me to eat healthier, so I knew she would ask about it. As I was looking through the grocery list on kitchen storage to see if there was anything else I wanted to add, Carla popped up a hologram on the table. "Adam, you need to come to the scanners. I want you to see this, I'm not sure what to think." Carla never called me Adam unless something was up.
“Ok, no worries." I closed the list and my sandwich and started moving toward the scanning module. "You sound spooked. Tell me what you found, and we'll figure it out."
"Well..." the hologram she had up in the kitchen faded out, and she started one up in scanning. "First, the other three rocks in the area show standard lines for stony-type rocks. They're your standard asteroids, a little light on volatiles but otherwise almost textbook standard. We could make money sending them down to Ceres, but not much. We'd more than break even, though. Keep that in mind."
The hologram image looked up at me, then shrugged. "If we find out that my sensors are broken, we can grab them and go get repairs done back home. But... well, look at the Spectro lines on our 'special' rock yourself." She pulled up an image of a screen in front of me, showing the spectrograph results. "That's not possible, right?"
I looked at the lines for a few moments, trying to absorb what I was seeing. At first, it looked like the readings were all abnormally low, except for one line. Then I checked the scaling and realized what was really going on. The lines were reading as a normal asteroid, except the Carbon and Hydrocarbon lines were all 100x higher than they should be. They dwarfed all the rest, pushing them down into the lowest part of the graph. "ulp!"
"That's what I thought! It's too much. There's no way!" Carla's hologram was bouncing up and down. "If it were a dead comet, we'd be seeing water ice in there, but we are getting more carbon and hydrocarbon than anything. It looks like the results you'd get if you scanned your aero-hydro garden, but out in space. It must be a sensor artifact, or something like that, right? There's no way those readings are real."
"If it were a sensor glitch, we should be getting weird readings from all the rocks, Carla. I'm not sure what it means, but it can't just be something wrong with your sensors. I don't think we have a choice; we need to check this out."
"Ok, I thought so too, but I wanted to talk to you about it first. I'll set a course to it, we can be there in 12 hours. In the mean time, we have 3 sensor arrays that need recalibrating, the docking ring needs to be cleaned and checked, and you still have that paper on microstructures in low gravity steel to finish for your engineering class. What do you want to start with today?"

Anyhow, one question I had was "How would a Universal/Warner Bros. merger affect Cartoon Network and its sister services (Boomerang, Adult Swim, Cartoonito, Toonami, Discovery Family, and now, Universal Kids)?"
- Cartoon Network - For our main network, Cartoon Network should return to an all-ages animation network, focusing on primarily modern shows with (most) older shows being on MeTV Toons. Any older show not on MeTV Toons can air on Cartoon Network as a nighttime block replacing Adult Swim. I was also thinking that CN could strike a distribution deal with WildBrain to air
- Adult Swim - Due to NBCUniversal already having NBC Sports, Adult Swim can easily replace TruTV. Impractical Jokers could move to TBS or E! while Adult Swim could take over TruTV's channel slot to become an all-day service. Toonami can air either only on Saturdays (taking up the entire day) or daily as a nighttime block akin to Qubo Night Owl.
- Cartoonito - In this setting, Cartoonito would replace Boomerang due to the channel losing relevance with MeTV Toons and Cartoon Network's Latenight lineup. The Cartoonito shows on MAX and the TV-Y shows on Universal Kids could also move to Cartoonito as well.
- Discovery Family - For Discovery Family, I'd say sever ties with Hasbro and rebrand it back to Hub and make it teen-oriented as a transitional network from the 6-11 KidsCo and the 21+ Adult Swim. Hub would target a 12 to 20 audience and would focus it's programming lineup on primarily TV-PG and light TV-14 content such as Unicorns, My Adventures, The Loony Tunes Show, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Regular Show, Bob's Burgers, Home Movies, ACME Night, Sitting Ducks, She-Ra, The Amazing World of Gumball, Total Drama, Mobile Suit Gundam, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Digimon, The Flintstones, Space Ghost, The Simpsons (provided they get the rights from Disney), The Powerpuff Girls (1998 and Z), and possibly Tamagotchi if Warnerversal is willing to produce and English dub of it. of course, with Discovery's involvement, a few live-action shows such Cake Boss and Too Cute, and a few Xploration Station shows (no HMPG/Litton shows as they're everywhere) as well as Superman and Lois, saving the show from The CW and it's Arrowverse-infested fingerprints) could also serve as additions to the Teen-focused network.
- Universal Kids - Universal Kids could become Warnerversal's primary kids channel becoming KidsCo. KidsCo could target as I mention, the 6-11 audience (compared to CNito's 2-5, Hub's 12-20 and AS's 21+). KidsCo would primarily base its lineup off of DreamWorks with Teen Titans Go! moving from Cartoon Network.
- Cartoon Network - All ages animation network.
- Adult Swim - Becomes 24/7 and focuses on Adult Animation.
- Cartoonito - Also becomes 24/7 (with MeTV Toons replacing Boomerang) and focuses on preschoolers.
- Hub (formerly Discovery Family) - Focusing on Teens and Young Adults.
- KidsCo (formerly Universal Kids) - Focusing on kids (6-11).

Two days ago I had the misfortune of accidentally (tight space) triggering and standing right underneath a fire alarm bell. While I didn't stay underneath it for very long, I had the misfortune of needing to stay in a roughly 4-10 meter radius around it for roughly 5 or 10 minutes.
I managed to escape into other rooms in between 1-2 minute direct exposures to noise from the bell, and I tried to cover my ears but wasn't always able to.
Now two days later I can hear a soft ringing and slight fullness in my right ear and can't tell if it's a tinnitus spike or if I'm fussing over nothing. I'd previously had very audible tinnitus in my left ear from an explosion over a decade ago and have since done everything in my power to treat my ears right, so this is a right bummer.
If anyone has experience with brief fire alarm bell exposures their thoughts would be very appreciated to help me regain my sanity.

Isaiah Yocum was destined to become great. A concensus #1 pick, Yocum had a unique prospect profile that had never been seen in the league before. He was drafted by a struggling Indiana Pacers team that had not made the playoffs in the previous 25 years. Isaiah had an immediate impact, winning ROY, leading the league in blocks, and leading the Pacers to the 7 seed, only to be eliminated in the first round by Marquise Andrews and the Miami Heat. Yocum followed up his rookie season with a statistically similar year and led the Pacers to the playoffs again, this time a second round exit. As his rookie contract was nearing an end, Yocum felt the pressue put on him by the media. He helped bring the Pacers all the way to the conference finals, only to lose again to Marquise Andrews and the eventual champion Miami Heat.
During this time, Andrews was a 3-time MVP (15 over his career) and was averaging an astounding 40 pts, 14 trb, 4 ast, 2 stl, and 2 blk over that 3 year strecth. Recognizing Andrews’ dominance, Yocum decided that he wanted to leave the Eastern Conference and joined the San Jose Venture Capatalists. San Jose was a new and highly successful expansion team, reaching the finals in just their 8th season. Recognizing the potential for success, San Jose made a few cap space moves and signed Yocum to a 5 year deal.
In Yocum’s first season in San Jose, he would average career highs in every statistical category and lead the Venture Capatilists to their first ever championship. While his scoring averages would increase, San Jose would not win a ring for the following 4 seasons.  | Dune 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Review submitted by HD-MOVIE-SOURCE to HD_MOVIE_SOURCE [link] [comments] VIDEO QUALITYDune: Part Two is an excellent-looking movie on 4K Blu-ray! Placing bonus content on the same disc was a concern of mine, considering disc space, and considering the film's length. However, encoding quality is high. Dune 2 is also a cleaner-looking movie than Dune 1. There is a light layer of grain, and film grain does resolve well. Film grain is more visible in low light shots vs brighter day shots. I think the film grain level is just right. Enough of it to make it look filmic, and enough to make it so grain haters really shouldn't be bothered by it.Ringing is non-existent, which is great, and has an excellent level of detail. The movie is also significantly brighter than the first movie. With these improvements from the first movie to this one, my assumption is that the scanning to film and back to digital process has been improved. Or, at the very least refined. They may have found that they lost light output converting to film and back, and they've found a way to augment that. Likewise, with film grain appearing tighter, I wonder if a different film stock or variation could have been used. I don't personally know, however, the entire look that Dune 2 has, is much improved over Dune Part One, and I really appreciate that. Because I wasn't a fan of how Dune 1 looked. I didn't like the muddy film grain that they used. No artifacts or breakdown are visible. A 100GB Disc was used for this encode, and it's a pleasure to watch from start to finish. I didn't think that WB were capable of producing encodes this good, but I give them a lot of respect for this transfer. It shows me that when they want to produce greatness, they can. I'd like to see all of their releases look this good. Dune: Part Two is a reference disc from start to finish. It is mixed perfectly, and the level balance is excellent. I thought Dune 1 was a reference disc, but this actually goes some and improves on the first one in terms of balance. Dialog and clarity are far better. It's balance between the sounds around and the dialog are perfect. Even the opening monolog of Part One vs Part Two, the balance is so much better in Part Two. The sound design team have either upgraded the way they do things or have balanced their own studios in a far better way to get this mix sounding this good. If music is playing, you can still hear the sounds of the desert around them. Dialog, again, is clearly discernable even in complex scenes. Sound and video get better over time, and from an audio point of view this mix is on a whole-nother level.The bass is at reference levels and at times becomes scary. Because the power of the bass is tremendous and is used at the right times. When massive machines are landing, you feel it, and you feel the weight of the machines landing. When copters are banking, my room inflates with massive bass. I've actually had to start fixing vibrations in my room because the bass go so low and so deep with this movie. When you reach this level of bass, I always say to people, I hope you have at least 2 subwoofers. As always, the more subs you have the smoother and cleaner sounding bass you will have. I currently use two Monolith, 13 inch THX subs, and I'm at the point now where I don't actually want more bass. So, if you're a bass-head like me then this movie will provide you with everything that you could ever want. It's not overdone, I think it's just balanced absolutely perfectly. There's never a point where I thought, hmmm, that didn't sound right. Whereas, by comparison, Part One, does have scenes where I thought it actually could have sounded better. So, I'm blown away with the balance, and the quality of the bass. Another thing I'd like to point out is the audio directivity, it's superb! I think it might require multiple listens and watches to really appreciate everything. There are so many subtleties to the sound. Sounds can move from center to the right speaker, but it's like the sound floats. The audio sounds like it's not coming from a speaker but a point in space. The use of heights and surrounds is involving, and multi-layered. However, it's true, there isn't a scene like in Dune Part One, where Paul gets blasted by the sandstorm and you hear particles of sand move through the room. It doesn't use sound isolation in that way. But creates these layers upon layers of sound to create a 3D world. It's the small things that add to this. Whisps of sand in the back left surround, a flutter in the front right to rear height channels, all sound incredible. Whatever the process for getting the balance like this, THIS IS IT! Because this is sound quality and balance that I've never heard before in a Dolby Atmos system. Other movies do and can sound flashier. They use a more obvious sound design and play audio pinball. Dune: Part Two doesn't do this, and I don't think it needs to, to make great sound. It's the layering of all of these sounds that creates this believable world. I think Dune 2 will be at the number 1 spot for the best sounding movie of the year. Warner Bros. They really stepped up for this release, and I'm extremely happy with what they've achieved here on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. 4K Blu-ray is in a position where, some may only buy fan favorites on disc, and maybe stream others. Dune: Part Two is the one that requires a disc to see and hear it at its best. Simply having uncompressed audio on a movie of this caliber is almost mandatory. The increased dynamic range, the power, the bass, and subtleties of this sound isn't possible when streaming. It's a release that can take full advantage of a great home theater setup. This release was made to be experienced in the best way possible, on a 4K Disc. It's releases like this that make me realize why I still buy movies on Disc. Because this experience isn't possible on a streamer. Streaming is great for casual stuff, but when it comes to getting the most out of a movie, that's what 4K Discs are made for. This is the reason to own a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! - A Must Own For Fans That Crave The Best! REVIEW SCORES
