Weevils are my favorite bugs in any form ; therefore, I know they are mostly hated by people (that don't like insects usually). Where I grew up palm weevils were chased since they were accidentally introduced and killing all the trees.
Apart from this situation, are they a menace for flora too in their natural habitats ? If not, and since they are harmless for human, why does everyone hate them ?
I know there are a lot of type of weevil since they all have their "assigned" plant, but are they all causing damage ?

I thought gold and power points were seperate things. But it seems Iam using both gold and power points when leveling up my units. Is this correct or is it a bug?

I thought foreign trade was going to suffer the most, but to my surprise it's inter-regional or local trade that got the worst end of the stick, and that's without taking into account any bugs. On the released version, the best way to move goods around is to export them on the trading post of one region and import them on the other. The quantities of sold goods don't need to match, the goods can be sold to and bought from the closest trading point, the wandering merchants or the trade route traders; so you don't have to physically move the goods across the globe. In short, you basically remove the tariff but are still selling to and importing from the outside world. On the experimental version, what's supposed to happen is that once you disallow foreign trade, your trader becomes a discount barterer that needs to physically transport the goods he buys from the other region. If you set it to sell locally from the producing region, you would be preventing yourself from selling any surplus to the world (now that I think about it, I don't even know if it works or to which regions would he sell it to). To make matters worse, they can only carry one unit at a time, unless they ride a horse, which allows them to carry 50. But the horse is bugged and makes it so the trader moves around but doesn't sell anything, so inter-regional trade is dead until this is fixed. The final nail in the coffin is the scaling: multiple trading posts are bad because they all share the same settings but the trade routes and wandering merchants only go to one of them. So if you need to make a bunch of local trades, you are either limited to the workers of a single trading post, or you have to deal with multiple trading posts that will be stocked but won't sell to foreing merchants and trade routes. In conclusion, inter-regional trade is much worse on the experimental patch by design and it's currently unusable because of the horse bug.

You bots and Nids have it so easy. At least your units have a chance. Just because I downloaded the free to play mobile version of the game I’m stuck with SEAF. I refuse to buy into the pay to win mechanics of the game. Yea I drop a few thousands RC (mind you I make like 10RC a week) and I can be an oh so cool helldiver. But nooooo that’s for super citizens only!
Meanwhile I’m over here dealing with farmers as my low tech units. Sure they have a breach action shotgun…. But I’m no farmer with a gun and they ain’t no sayain. I have to IMMEDIATELY tech into bunkers and barracks with a research station! Otherwise I won’t even be able to get my SEAF site up in time.
And before you know it those positions will be over run by patrols and my workers turned it fodder for bot builds and food for the Nids.
Oh sure I can at least cap some Nids and get oil reserves going. But then I can barely afford to build radar stations that will let me find the samples on the map that will then unlock mini nukes for my Artillery sites.
But good luck getting those going at any reasonable speed!! I mean for god sakes the AA site is ONLY able to target Dropships… not even gunships! Much less shriekers. Hell why even have the option to build them on bug planets!?! No one does and never will!!
Research and tech trees are so screwed up for SEAF players… like when will we ever get a patch?! I swear we were only included in the game to be “motivation” for helldivers. It’s like we are literally props!?
If one of my worlds get invaded it’s either protect my civis (they only half to run like 50 yards max thank god) or I get people loaded in crypto pods to at least save my leveled up units…. But jeeze it’s like the devs just made this faction… and then forgot about it.
If o have to hear one more time about a bot player complaining about microing a Flame hulk… at least your ships don’t drop your research currency when downed… and to the Nids who complain about chargers being slow and easily rodeod…. At least you have a medium unit! I have squads of SEAF troopers that have LITERALLY cloth armor… I’d complain about our cars/buggies… but they literally don’t work.
The only real useful thing I can do is plant hair trigger hellbombs around the map in the hopes they get ACCIDENTALLY set off…
The only reason I even play this game is so I can earn medals for my C-01 application.
Uggh…. Time to go build another set of landing beacons and start all over again.

I was so nostalgic for the Big Rogue, that I just spent hours trying to create the perfect rogue deck with Dorian the dollmaster and the replicator-inator and after a good twenty defeats I succeeded!

This is a Big Rogue Dollmaster Mecha with Sonya, Ragnaros, Replicator, Jepetto, Factory Assemblyboot and gear shift as key cards:
-There are several victory conditions and there is even an OTK
-It is ABSOLUTELY necessary to have Dorian in starting hand or before t4-t5 (which removes a lot of WR)
-If you don't have it, the game is complicated but it's possible to delay the combo, if you're against a hunter or DH aggro it's lost
-We can try to get him with the Elven Minstrel but it's better to keep him once Dorian is on the board
-We can try to reduce it the first time by placing it then shadowstep to have it at 2 mana
-or reduce it with the Sandbox Scoundrel figurine
-Then the goal will be to play it then draw with gear shift/Dig for treasure/Dubious purchase/Minstrel
-BUT, it is also possible to draw a mecha with pit-stop
-We will try to draw 2-3-4 servants depending on the possibilities
-If we get Ragnaros at 1 mana it's very good
-If we also get Sonya its insane, we can play Sonya at 4 mana,

with random effects, if we play the 1/1 replicators on the board, even if we magnetize the mini bots, the replicator copies them, and there is even a bug which allows you to temporarily have more than 7 minions on the board. board, which means that the new 1/1s also magnetize, if we have Sonya then we can make a big board with taunt, lifesteal and even make a big mecha with wind fury
-Then for the very late game we have Jepetto to recover all the 1/1s!
-Otherwise for sustain, I added Zilliax, Drilly the Kid can be very useful with treasures, the Playhouse Giant since we draw a lot, to cycle the Deck with the prep and fan of knives
-Mimiron and Votron prime must be great in the deck I just don't have the dust lmao

• I tried versions with Thunderbringer, and Elekk as a big beast, it can be very fun to have Ragnaros and a 6/12 taunt on board t5! but they are just too heavy if drawn before Dorian, the Containment Unit too
  
• Need more taunt/heal/clear survivability in the deck, I thought the toymaker could be used to also have taunt mechs but the enemy can just ignore it as its just deathrattle, So I added a Defender of Argus instead but there is certainly better

Saw a post complaining about the jet pack. Don’t touch it one bit or modify it. It’s the prime gem of a strategem. Take off your heavy 200 armor and it turns out it boosts you upward.
1 outrun all enemies except its one downfall - stalkers.
2 boost is significantly increased for the 550 speed light armor.
3 Gets up on untouchable cliffs
4 and back down untouched into drop ships
5 new map terrain makes it superb at a lot of cliffs for navigating fast to terminals ect…
6 decreases map solving time. I can boost and save 4-5 running seconds every boost including saving lives.
7 escape enemy line of sight fast and stop existing units rushing you. If you hop over a cliff the enemies don’t know to chase around it. Toss an explosive strategem elsewhere and suddenly the bugs run away and despawn
8 conquer bot outposts in unique ways. There’s some terrain designed to block you in a lot of the games for bots. It lets you sneak hellbombs behind all of the units and clear out fast rather than fight through all the units.
9 on civilian escort missions you can double hop on top of the civ building and destroy everything solo. It lets you quickly solo the 30-40 civs
10 fastest sample hunting possible
11 sacrifice all of these perks to takeout one group of bugs every 80-240 seconds and team kill because they run next to my deployed stratagem, no thanks
12 cluster bomb eagle purposely targets teammates. I noticed if you or a teammate get within a certain range, the eagle purposely targets you at the edges.
13 jetpack can overcome cluster bomb drops. If you boost before the drop you take 0 damage so you can call in clusters on yourself
14 combo the jetpack with the shield tower, smoke orbital and smoke eagle and you don’t have to destroy a single enemy. Conquer the galaxy in peace

I (26F) am engaged to my fiance (33M) Brandon and have grown close with his daughter Lucy (4F). Lucy's biological mother Natalie (30F) has lost all physical and legal rights to her daughter due to neglecting her severely when Lucy was an infant, not to get into great detail but Natalie is addicted to opioids and Lucy had a withdrawal period.
Lucy and I have gotten close as I have dated my fiance for almost 4 years, Lucy was born 9 months before I came into Brandon's life, we met at the hospital as Lucy had some major health issues in her infancy due to Natalie and I have a chronic illness that pushes me into pancreatitis. She now calls me Mama even though neither I nor my fiance asked her to do so. I read her bedtime stories and I'm helping her learn to add and subtract.
During a get-together for Brandon's birthday I hosted at his house, Natalie showed up with her new boyfriend neither were invited. She tried to give Lucy a hug but Lucy didn't know her. She came to Brandon and me instead and told us a stranger had come. She then asked me to make up her plate because Natalie began to throw a tantrum in the middle of the party shouting about how she was going to take Brandon to court and because she's the mom she'll win full custody because she deserves to be in her daughter's life. During this time Brandon took Lucy inside because she had started crying because she was scared.
I admit I snapped. I told her she has no right to call herself a mother because she abandoned Lucy to go get high and sleep around. She hurt my baby so bad that she's 4 and needs to go to therapy and has physical health issues because of her. That she refuses to put her baby first and at best she's an egg donor. I told her to get the fuck out of my house and never come back. She wailed all the way back to her boyfriend's car.
I admit I think I went too far. I know that drug addiction is a disease and people who suffer from substance abuse disorder need help, I think I went too far saying she was at best an egg donor. Brandon said I did nothing wrong. AITA?

She is in physical therapy for a hip dysplasia that she struggles with due to Natalie dropping her when she was an infant, she also has significant trauma from the severe neglect.

I'm not doubting the physical issue. I'm doubting the therapy. You said she lost custody for neglect when she was an infant were you hyperbolizing or was she actually under a year old?

No she has major emotional trauma from the extreme neglect. She has night terrors and she doesn't know how to explain them. It's play therapy for now, but will transition to talk later on.

Bio-mom cant just come rushing back into the child's life on a whim. She lost her rights (im assuming) by court decree. That means If she wants her rights back, she has to go through the courts and prove that she has changed. Obviously that hasnt happned yet.
You do have the right to react like you did, but since Lucy is in the dark as to who this other woman is, you would have better served her by just telling the woman to get out of your house. These comments may be used against you later with relatives and the courts, although who knows to what effect. Its still going to be a headache for you.
The judgmental comments (while I agree with them) are something you dont technically have the right to make yet. Once you are married and better established as a family unit, you will have a better leg to stand on. While I hope bio-mom gets her head out of her arse and gets her life together, I dont have much faith in that.
If you eventually are allowed to adopt, please do so, as that child needs you. Keep up with being the good mom that you are though.

She is aware that she has a biological mother and that I am not her bio-mom. She doesn't know her bio-mom was Natalie. If she got clean, Brendan and I would want Natalie to meet Lucy.

Well, you stepped up to be a mom when you didnt have to. Once you get married, that will solidify your right to claim being Lucy's mom. Time will build on that.
While I doubt that bio-mom will get clean in time to have any real relationship with the child, while she is still a child, I also worry how this woman will behave once she actually does get clean. Ive personally seen too many recovering addicts that have some bizarre notion that now that they are clean, all will be right with the world, they will get custody, and everything will go their way.

She was never his wife. Her problems with drugs started before his deployment. And well before Lucy's birth. He did not know because she hid it from him. When he found out he had her rights severed.

Accepting a kid who is not blood related to you is not something everyone might do, and you're a good person. Just to clarify both Natalie and Lucy are victims of the opioid epidemic here. Being a victim doesn’t necessarily make the mother in anyway blameless, but how those around her acted and supported her is very important context here.

She started taking opioids at parties, not due to injury. I know because that was a piece of evidence that led to her rights being taken away.

Hello everyone! It's been a very interesting few days and I have an update. So a few days after she crashed the party Natalie got arrested and arraigned for possession with intent to sell an illicit substance. From what her family says, the substance was cocaine, not opioids.
Lucy is doing fine and is loving her first year of kindergarten. My Fiance asked her if she wanted me to become her mama on paper. She said yes and now we're planning on doing family vows at our wedding. We are getting married on the 15th of December, as that is a very significant day for us (The day Brandon and I officially started dating.)
We have spoken to a lawyer and he has told us that even if Natalie got clean she would never get her rights to Lucy back, so we don't need to worry. I hope she gets clean in prison.
I want to add that even though I am not Lucy's biological mother, she will always be my daughter. And Brandon and I are not going to have children together so she'll be our only kid. Thank you so much for your support and your criticism!

you wanna sit back, relax, and let summons do the ass whooping for you? Then this party composition is for you! this build comes online in act 3 and requires learning a few scrolls, but after that, you won't need to use a single potion until the elder brain.

to get to act 3 you gotta beat myrkul, so here is 4 naked tempest clerics making ketheric wonder if he should change gods again. just cast sanctuary, help aylin, then wet and call lightning. feats are alert and tough
ACT 3
alright for the summon build to come online you gotta get to level 12 first, kill and explore for xp
LEVELS
1 wizard, 11 life cleric (any cleric would do) feats alert and tough, stats 12 dex, 14 con, 16 wis, 16 int (you want 16 int so you have four wizard spell slots available)
SCROLLS NEEDED - buy at sorcerer sundries, always available
4x cloud of dagger scrolls, 4x haste scrolls, 4x summon elemental scrolls, 4x summon minor elemental scrolls, learn these scrolls and and prepare them, do long rests to restore stock

aid - more hp for summons
planar ally - djinn, the best summon in the game!
insect plague - situational
heroes feast- A MUST for orin and cazador, fear and naseous. give up one djinn
THE COMBO!

1. activate turn based mode
   
2. cast 1 level 5 cloud of daggers near your target, 3 haste to 3 djinns, 4 santuary to party members, START BATTLE!
   
3. thunderwave, thunderwave, thunderwave pushing enemies to cloud of daggers, and thats pretty much it. you can push them out and then in again to trigger cloud of dagger damage multiple times.

i recommend using some potions for this one, its the final fight after all, should still be possible without thanks to divine intervention.
step by step

1. get 1 invisible potion, 1 flying potion, and a bunch of haste potions
2. respec 1 follower before riding boat
3. buy angelic slumber potion from lizard and level up one at a time to restore lizard stock
4. kill the mini absolute army, then use angelic slumber to replenish spell slots and summons
5. use fly and invisible potion to skip the stair fight
6. make djin(deva might be better here cause they have fly) and air myrmidon drink haste potions on their turn by opening group inventory and drinking haste potion, the unit name will show up.
7. kill dragon and everything
8. use the BONKERS skill called DIVINE INTERVENTION and full heal and restore all spell slots when needed.
9. kill elder brain.

At the world’s top college of magic and technology, every day brings a new discovery -and a new disaster. “Four years on and the headache still sucks,” Vell groaned to himself.
Though most of the loopers had managed to make it to midnight alive, they had nothing to show for it but headaches. They had not succeeded in digging Cane out of the rubble, or investigating his apparent ghost theory in any other way. That was a complication, but not a fatal one. They had some leads to work with, at least, and Vell knew where to get started on the ghost angle. Vell gladly made the call that would get them started.
“Goooooood morning Mr. Harlan,” Harley chimed. “What’s happening?”
“Frog invasions, among other problems,” Vell grumbled.
“Oh, that’s a time loop headache if I ever heard it,” Harley said. She’d run into that affliction more than a few times.
“Yeah, it’s not great,” Vell said. “Listen, do you still have Garrett’s number?”
“Ooh, ghost problems, eh?” Harley said. “I’ll text it to you.”
“Thanks. I kind of got to get right to it, so I’ll have to give you the details later, alright? Love you, Harley.”
“Love you too, bud,” Harley said. “Say hi to Garret for me.”
Vell hung up the first call and braced himself for the second. He liked Garret, but he could also be a lot to deal with -a fact well-demonstrated by the phone call beginning with Garret’s theme music blaring over the phone. Once the bombastic rock and roll stopped, Vell was disappointed to hear a mechanical beep indicate the start of an answering machine message.
“Hi, you’ve reached Garret Geist, Ghost Getter,” the message said, in Garrett’s usual southern california drawl. “I’m currently on a long-term submersible mission to exorcise the ghosts of shipwreck victims who’ve been trapped undersea for centuries.”
“What?”
Vell knew it was a recording, but needed to voice his offense anyway. It was hard to truly be mad knowing Garrett was doing something so incredibly heroic, though.
“I should be back to the surface and ready to help in a few days, so please leave a message and I’ll get to you as soon as I can!”
The automated message clicked again and fell silent. Vell hung up the phone and let out a low groan of despair.
“Okay, we’re not screwed yet,” Vell said. “Just need to wait a bit.”
Vell brushed his teeth and rushed through breakfast, and then, right on cue, heard a knock on his door. He whipped it open to find a bothersome scientist once again at his door.
“Hi, good morning,” Vell said, as he opened the door. “You here to bother me about Quenay?”
“I- uh, I have some very interesting theories.”
“I’m sure you do,” Vell said. “If you can just hold on one second…”
Vell paused and waited. The bothersome student also waited, at least for a few seconds.
“What exactly are we waiting for?”
“This.”
Cane grabbed the student by the collar and yanked them away from the door. Vell invited him in and slammed the door shut behind them to really drive the point home.
“Thank you for that,” Vell said. “Did you need something?”
“Just to talk to you,” Cane said. “I was trying to get people together to hang out tonight. Figured you’d want in, if you’re not too busy.”
“I could probably make it, I just have to…”
Vell froze. He really should’ve come up with these lies in advance.
“You good, Vell?”
“I, uh, sorry, just losing track of things, mentally,” Vell said. “I’ve had a lot of people, uh, ask me for help with things.”
“What kind of things?” Cane said. “You need a hand?”
“Maybe.”
Vell contemplated how to proceed for a moment, and then figured he’d probably built up enough good will with Cane over the past four years he could just dive right in.
“You ever heard about frog ghosts?”
“Yeah,” Cane said, without so much as blinking.
“Oh, cool,” Vell said. “What about them?”
“Well, hold on, are you talking about frog ghosts as in the ghost of frogs, or a ghost related to frogs?”
“Either or, I guess?”
“Okay, because I don’t know anything about any ghostly frogs,” Cane said. “There is supposedly the ghost of a guy obsessed with frogs on campus, though.”
“Interesting. Tell me about the frog guy.”
“I don’t know all the details, it was kind of an urban legend even when my brother came here about a decade back,” Cane said. “All he ever told me was the this frog-obsessed sophomore died while studying, and he haunts the basement of the sophomore dorms, I guess. ‘Some say you can still hear faint croaking in the basement’ and all that horror story shit.”
“Interesting,” Vell said, again. “Let me look into that and we’ll circle back later, alright? I gotta go, see you.”
“Vell-”
“Sorry, kind of in a hurry, bud,” Vell said, as he left and shut the door behind.
“This is your dorm, dude,” Cane said.

“You were not exaggerating about this headache,” Alex said.
“We warned you,” Kim said. “Man, it’s almost better to die.”
“How do you have a headache, you’re made of metal!”
“It’s complicated,” Kim said. Her synthetic body did not spare her from the time loop headache, no matter how she rebuilt herself.
“Good morning everyone,” Helena said, as she whacked the door open with a crutch. “What did I miss?”
“Quiet down a little, please” Hawke said.
“Why?”
“Do you not have a headache too?”
“No, I died pretty early,” Helena said. “Got a frog on me.”
“You died from a frog touching you? What condition do you have that causes that?”
“Well it was a poison dart frog, so I guess ‘being alive’,” Helena said. Samson pursed his lips and said nothing. “What did you all get up to while I was busy being dead?”
“Vell found out the frogs were summoned by a weird frog-obsessed ghost,” Hawke said. “He apparently knows a guy who might be able to help.”
The loopers then proceeded to relax and chat about frogs, ghosts, and other miscellaneous topics for about seven minutes, which made it a lot less dramatic when Vell barged in and announced Garret would be unable to help.
“Oh come on,” Kim snapped. “What’s the point of knowing a ghost hunter if he never helps hunt ghosts?”
“He’s on some undersea mission to rescue lost souls,” Vell said. “Which makes it really hard to be mad at him.”
“And yet I manage,” Kim said. She didn’t begrudge Garret personally, but she had been hoping for their first easy win of the year. All the apocalypses thus far had been a major pain in the ass.
“Aren’t you people supposed to be able to handle things like this?”
“Yes, Alex, and we will,” Vell said. “Just would’ve been nice to have a professional on the job.”
“I’ll get the ghostbusting stuff ready,” Hawke sighed. He would’ve loved a chance to outsource their daily nonsense.
“Keep it on standby for now,” Vell said. “Ghosts have unfinished business or regrets. If we can help our ghost deal with whatever frog-related business he’s got going on, maybe we can fix this without having to bust anyone.”
“That’s your plan?” Alex said. “Be nice to the ghost that crushed a building and hope it goes away?”
“Yes,” Vell said, with a completely straight face. “And busting is plan B.”
“Bustin’ makes me feel good,” Hawke sang, as he grabbed all their various ghostbusting gear.
“True professionals at work,” Alex scoffed. Everyone else rolled their eyes and got back to work.
“Vell is an old pro at being nice to people,” Kim said. “Just ask Helena’s sister.”
“Don’t pat yourself on the back, Joan’s incredibly susceptible to manipulation,” Helena said. It was disturbing she’d say that, and even more disturbing she knew that. “That said, anyone dumb enough to get stuck as a ghost for decades will probably buy into your routine just as easily.”
“Thanks for your input,” Vell said. “I’m just going to go ahead and get started.”
He said that both because it was important and because it was an excuse to get away from Alex and Helena faster.
“Need any backup?” Samson asked, for similar reasons.
“I’ll check it out solo first,” Vell said. Historically speaking, he was the best people-pleaser, a dubious honor at best, but one that came in handy when dealing with a frog-summoning ghost. “I’ll let you know if I need backup.”
“Or busting,” Hawke said.
“Or busting,” Vell agreed. “I have to find out where the ghost is, for starters. I’ll be in touch soon.”

Finding the lair of the ghost was the first hurdle. As it turned out, the sophomore dorms had a lot of basements. Every building on campus had a lot of basements, so Vell was not all that surprised. At least these basements didn’t have booby traps or old experiment equipment in them. They mostly just had a lot of junk. Vell kicked aside some old food wrappers and scanned the room.
“Why do people treat these empty rooms like dumping grounds?”
“People are usually different when they think no one is watching.”
Vell whipped around and saw a transparent head poking through one of the nearby walls. A ghost if Vell had ever seen one.
“Oh, hi,” Vell said. “Uh, weird question, how do you feel about frogs?”
“I’m ambivalent at best,” the ghost said. “Are you looking for the frog guy? Because he haunts two rooms over.”
The ghost pointed to the right, down the hall, and Vell looked that way.
“Thanks,” Vell said. He took a few steps towards the door before spinning around to face the other ghost again. “Uh, do you need any help like, moving on? Finishing unfinished business?”
“Nah, we get wifi down here, so I don’t mind just chilling,” the ghost said. “Thanks for offering though.”
The ghost drew back into the wall and vanished from sight. While Vell was painfully curious as to how a ghost accessed wifi, he decided it was time to move on. The frog ghost was apparently close by, after all.
Vell followed the wifi ghost’s directions and hopped two doors down, barging into a subterranean room that was uncomfortably moist and smelled of mud and rainwater. Condensation dripped from the ceiling and onto Vell’s back, sending an unpleasant shiver down his spine. Unlike other rooms, this one was completely free of any garbage, but Vell took no comfort in that.
“Hello? Anybody home?”
A chill ran down Vell’s spine that definitely was not another drop of water. He waited two seconds, took a deep breath, and turned around.
“Hello.”
Vell was just inches away from another transparent face. This one had a slight green tint, with wide set eyes and a broad, flat mouth. Vell wondered if the similarities to a frog had been there during this person’s life, or if they just liked frogs so much their ghost had slowly shifted to reflect their passion.
“Hey! Hi, uh, nice to meet you,” Vell mumbled. “I’m Vell.”
“I’m Raine.”
“Neat, nice name,” Vell said. If Raine noticed the awkward hesitation in the compliment, he didn’t show it. “So, uh, I was wondering, well, I heard you were the guy to ask about frogs.”
The already wide eyes of the ghost got even wider, and visible excitement trembled through their spectral form. Vell began to think he may have made a mistake.

“So even though it’s the biggest frog in the America’s, the helmeted water toad is still only half the size of the Goliath frog,” Raine said. “Which must be wild for the helmeted water toad. Could you imagine crossing an ocean and finding out the people who live there are literally twice your size?”
“Must be pretty mindblowing, yeah,” Vell said.
“And that’s not even going into the real extremes,” Raine said. “Do you remember our pal P. Amauensis?”
“How could I forget,” Vell said, about something he had definitely forgotten.
“Not just the world’s smallest frog, but maybe the world’s smallest vertebrate,” Raine said. “Only seven point seven millimeters long, a literal fraction of the Goliath frog! Could you imagine meeting someone who’s only as big as your toe?”
“I actually did, once,” Vell said. “Shrink ray.”
“Oh. Was...was it weird?”
“A little,” Vell said.
“Wow. You almost know what it’s like to be a Goliath frog meeting a P. Amauensis,” Raine said. “I’m so jealous.”
“Yeah, I’ve done a lot of interesting stuff,” Vell said. “What about you, what’d you get up to when you weren’t studying frogs?”
Raine tilted his spectral head and stared blankly at Vell.
“You did do things other than study frogs, right?”
“Not if I could help it,” Raine said.
“Okay, uh...what did you like to eat?”
“Oh, I just ate food whenever I was hungry,” Raine said. “What I really liked to do was gather samples of different bugs and other frog dietary staples, so I could try to get a sense of their diet for myself.”
“Like, cooked bugs, or just raw, living bugs,” Vell said. He’d eaten a few different varieties of cooked bugs, just for the experience, but couldn’t imagine eating raw insects.
“If I could find them, yeah, live ones,” Raine said. “It got pretty hard after I got banned from the entomology department.”
“That’d do it,” Vell said. “So, did you, uh, go swimming a lot?”
“Oh yeah, all the time,” Raine said. “Until I got banned from the pools too. Trying to swim like a frog doesn’t work very well, and they got sick of having to rescue me, I guess.”
“You could’ve just swam like a person.”
“Why would I do that?”
“To...I don’t know,” Vell said. He was starting to feel like Raine’s entire life and unlife revolved around frogs. “Did you ever do anything, I don’t know, human?”
“Oh, I studied frogs,” Raine said. “Frogs lack the self-awareness to understand frogs. It’s their only flaw, really.”
“I see. So what’s your favorite frog?”
As expected, this set off a long rant, as Raine found it hard to pick a favorite and had to start listing pros and cons of various frog species. It was not exactly scintillating conversation, but it kept Raine talking instead of somehow summoning frogs. Vell kept reminding himself that was the real goal. He was not here to have a pleasant chat, he was here to prevent the frogpocalypse. Anything that kept Raine ranting was good. He was saving the world.
As Raine started ranking every existing frog species by maximum jump distance, Vell kept repeating that to himself. Saving the world, one frog jump strength at a time.

I currently own a Meade LX200 Classic F10 10" as well as a 102mm refractor and an AM5 mount. I use both, though focusing on the SCT as it is galaxy season now. Currently I am having some compatibility issues with my Classic on the ASIAir. This appears to be a new bug, though it is making really consider some different options, if this doesn't work out. I could always defork it and use it on the AM5, though I could also keep it on the fork sell it as a complete working unit and look at either a Celstron 9.25 or even a 11 inch. The celestrons seem interesting as the newer ones are compatible with the Hyperstar. Though I do wonder if the 11" would be to much for the AM5, granted I would use any SCT on a beefer tripod. I also like visual astronomy and going down to a 9.25" seems odd, though the 11" seems about the same weight as my 10". I currently have my SCT on a wheely bar, so weight isn't a huge issue as I just roll it out of the garage. I would be going used if I were to go with Celestron, though I assume the optics and coatings and something like an edge would be better than what I have now, would be cool to shoot at F2.
