I started a new job a few months ago that promised 30% commissions plus tips, job ad stating $250-500 per day.
I’ve was a groomer for a very long time. I did take a break for about 7 years, but I had 10 years under my belt. Vet care experience, as well, so a combined 15 years of experience handling & grooming animals.
This seemed too good to be true based on my experience, but it was mobile, and I’ve heard that it pays very well. I also researched mobile positions in this area after I saw that ad, and they all seemed to promise about the same, so I thought - why not?
I live about an hour away from the “office,” but my plan was that if it worked out, I would move closer. The area she lives in, where the van is parked, is a bit more expensive than where I am, but if I was really making that kind of money, it’d be worth sticking it out for a few months, driving two hours to and from work, and getting home extremely late to my kids until we could move over the summer. I am a single widow with four kids.
At first, it was wonderful and I was making exactly that. She only has one van, but I was getting 4-5 dogs a day on average, with a few 6 dog days in there. Great tips. 30% of paid services. She told me 30% went to her, and 40% to the business.
Then one day she sent me a text with an “oops! 🫣” and said she’d accidentally been overpaying me. She was supposed to be taking out some other business expenses before calculating my commissions. This would essentially remove about 10% of that commission (though she still considered it 30%).
Now I know that most mobile groomers charge a mobile fee to cover cost, but I’m pretty sure it’s not 10% of services rendered. I stuck around because I really liked the job, but it didn’t sit well.
I saw a pretty drastic decrease in pay.
I understand her position. I truly do. But it doesn’t make sense for me to continue to work there if it’s no longer a viable option for me to move closer due to not enough pay. The new pay is something I could make in a local salon weekly working normal hours instead of all the extra driving hours, etc.
So I brought this up to her today. And I hadn’t made my mind up yet what I wanted to do. But she said a couple things that really upset me.
“I went out on a limb to hire you knowing you lived far away.” “What do you expect me to pay, 100K a year?”
So…like…I feel like I’m a pretty experienced groomer with a lot to bring to a company. She graduated her grooming course at the end of last year and bought a van, so I’ve got a bit under my belt to add to a company. Her clients rebooked me like crazy, and I heard, “they’ve never looked so good” on a very regular basis. It was nice to hear that and know I’d retained my skills.
So to feel like suddenly I’m a charity case instead of an experienced groomer who has been waking up at 5:30 every morning to get my kids off and get to her place by 7:30 and work 10-12 hour days, help grow her business, really upset me. I’ve been busting my ass for this person to help her create a lifestyle. I don’t want to work for someone who views me like that.
As for the 100K, that was never an expectation. However, she boasted about being able to make that kind of money with her company, and that’s where my initial pay was leading and would allow me to move closer so I could have a better work life balance. She also promised $250-500 per day in her job ad. And I signed a 30% commission contact.
So I quit. After those statements, I decided I would definitely quit, and I can find a local salon to work at where I may never make the kind of money she promised, but at least I’ll be close to my kids and not working insane hours.
But now I feel terrible. I feel like I’ve abandoned her. I know it was my choice to try this out. I did not put in a two week notice because the schedule is so intense, I won’t have time to look for another job while working the last two weeks. I feel like my time would be better served going door to door at salons and getting my completely neglected home back in order.
If I have to go back to remote corporate work to make the kind of money I need to survive and care for my kids, I will. But I truly do love grooming, and I really wanted this to work.
Am I in the wrong? Did I expect too much? I just can’t rest with this.

Hey guys, so me and my friend have been travelling through South Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam so far. We have about 2.5 weeks left in Vietnam but not really sure where to go next. Our plan was to cross into Laos but we heard it’s incredibly hot there atm and the flights are so expensive / buses are nightmarish.
Does any have any recommendations of what to do? Should we change our plans and travel elsewhere, if so where? Should we continue on to Laos? I’m also worried we’ll struggle to travel around Laos as we don’t drive scooters and have heard that’s really the only way to see the sights.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you <3

I started a truck driving class a couple months ago & when I started it took me a little time to get the concept of how to manuever the trailer due to me having no experience with a extra pedal (clutch) & the size of the vehicle. I stayed at it & my second month in the class, I came across a youtube video where a guy was breaking down the concept & he compared it to a pallet jack & how u have to manuever it a certain way to get it to do what u want. After I watched that video it all started to come together for me & my instructor showed more trust in me & slowly allowed me to make progress in the truck. As the weeks went by, I continued to get the hang of shifting gears & making turns & when my time came to get scheduled for my test I felt pretty confident. My test was about 2 weeks away from my last day in class. Unfortunately, when I took the test I failed the pre-trip because I left the engine running while performing the leak down (dumb mistake I know but I was nervous). The second time I paid for my retest, I passed the pre trip & passed the straightback, offset, but pointed out on the alley dock because the yard at the testing site is a little smaller than the yard at our school where we practice. After that, I had to find a new job to pay for my next retake, which is $300 dollars every retake. It took me about a month to pay my rent & get caught up on everything & when I paid for my retest, it had been about a month & a half since I had driven the semi. I was told I get one day to refresh my skills & prepare for the test. When I showed up for my refresher, I could immediately feel that I had lost a little confidence I had in making the manuevers & the steps I was taught. The next day I went to take my test & I struggled worst than I ever had before, almost pointed out on the straightback & ultimatley pointed out on the offset. Now I am a little worried about my chance because I feel like I need a full week at least to refresh on my skills & be totally prepared to drive on the road during the test. Is there anybody that has had problems with the cdl test similar to mines & can give me a little advice? Im 30 yrs old & really feel like this would be a career I enjoy doing. I cant continue to work these dead end jobs with piece of shit supervisors. If someone knows where I can go in Michigan to get some training please lmk im willing to pay.

Hi, fairly mundane question here. I'm (23M, 5'8'', 165lbs.) mostly asking because my doctor has not been very communicative and I can't get an appointment with a urologist for weeks, as well as the fact that symptoms seem to be worsening.
The main symptom is my penis itching, which got progressively worse over the past month or so and eventually made me go to the doctor. The penis (especially head) seems to be irritated and red, and I've noticed pale white spots that have developed on the skin and stuck around (not sores). There is also slight discharge and a weird smell that comes from the penis sometimes. When I urinate there's an itching sensation within the urethra (wouldn't really call it burning). There is also occasional testicular pain and pain in the urethra. I went to my doctor earlier in the month and received a diagnosis of balanitis. She gave me an anti-fungal cream to try (clotrimazole) in the event that it was a yeast infection. She also ordered some urine tests.
All values from the urine test came back normal except for Leukocyte Esterase, which was abnormal at 2+. pH results were at the very edge of the normal range at 7.5. Test noted "Bacteria: None Seen." Tests also noted "Mixed urogenital flora 10,000-25,000 colony forming units per mL."
The anti-fungal cream does seem to help with the itching around the time it's applied (been doing twice a day - once in the morning, once at night) but my overall condition doesn't seem to be improving since I started taking it a week ago. I'm still itching and experiencing the other symptoms. Recently I've started getting a weird discomfort in my abdomen on occasion but I don't know if that's a real symptom or just my paranoia.
Previous tests came back negative for chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis. Is this a garden variety UTI or something more? Should I be concerned?

I'm 24F, but I turn 25 tomorrow. Cracking thr code of the human personality is a passion of mine, and today I was taking the sociotype.com test and got ILI (associated with INTP), with a 93% chance of being LIE (ENTJ). Ultimately LIE resonated with me more when comparing the descriptions, though I did heavily relate to the assertion that ILI goes back nostalgically to the same games/movies/etc. for the emotional high they elicit. I like what's familiar, or at least seems in line with previous experiences where I felt excited and happy.
I feel like that's why I'm lagging behind.
In childhood I had big dreams of success, of turning 18 and heading to a big city to pursue a career in acting or music. Somehow I got it into my head I wasn't "cut out" for such a life though, partly because I was never allowed to choose who I associated myself with as a teenager. Everyone else I knew was a homeschooled shut in escaping into fantasy to escape from their overbearing religious families, and I in turn did the same, escaping into my head rather than forming a concise plan for seizing control of my own future in the physical realm. Even my mother seemed frustrated with me when I was a newborn adult of 18, awkward and self-deprecating to the point my loathe to the idea of a mediocre, ineffectual life became something of a self-fulfilling prophecy. I find myself almost romantically fascinated with my childhood, when I had more potential than I probably do now, fewer mental health issues, and more drive to go beyond where I came from and become a success. I'm celebrating my birthday eve by hanging out in my room, in a house I share with my dad and siblings, doing craft projects and playing old Y2K computer games. I still have no college degree (though I'm a certified web developer according to the local community college and several years of experience), but have applied for aid, and intend to go back this fall no matter how I feel about it. The existential pain that comes with comfortable stagnation will far outweigh the existential pain of being a struggling college student in my mid 20s. I am undiagnosed but based on results of a ct scan and xray (aswell as my symptoms) i believe i have mild COPD.
I'm 30 M and have smoked since i was 15 years old unfortunately. I'm quitting now and haven't had a smoke in 3 days.
The CT scan results say as followed 'mild burden of bilateral bronchial and bronchiolar wall thickening through the lungs, which may reflect an inflammatory or infective bronchitis and bronchiolitis'
My x-ray showed hyper-inflated lungs
My symptoms have only been shortness of breath, going on for about 4-5 years now. Especially with exertion, i find it hard to get my breath back. No coughing, no mucus.
It's funny, some days I'll go to gym and run 2km then do 45 minutes of weight training, followed by a lap or 2 at my local oval while playing football. But other days I'm just laying in bed at night focusing on breathing amd feeling like i have to manually breathe.
I have a appointment with a pulmonary specialist in 2 weeks, very keen to see him
I did the spiro test a couple of years ago when i had a really bad week of breathing, i must have caught an infection or something because i had laboured breathing For over 2 weeks
I also got covid really bad and couldn't breath at all, i even passed out at onw point
So we will know for sure in 2 weeks if i do have copd, but based on everything i really think i do have either mild or moderate COPD
I'm only 30, i have 2 amazing kids and a awesome wife, and i love my life other than my lungs lol
I'm prepared to do whatever it takes to manage this and try to still have a great and long life, but my question is, does COPD always progress to severe & end stage regardless of how well i maintain and treat it? Would love to hear from some long time copd sufferers who started off mild 20+ years ago (though anyones thougths, advice and opinions are appreciated)
I can manage what i have now forever for sure, but i really don't want it getting any worse, especially in the next 20 years, as i consider these my prime years
TLDR; i think i have mild copd and want to know if its possible for the copd to never progress to sever if i look after myself

Hey I got a 03 V6, just did the spark plugs and coils and the battery today. Started it up and and whole car shook pretty bad. I let it idle for like 5min then took it for a test drive. Got to the stop sign and the engine just died. Turned off the car turned it back on started right up but was idling at like 500rpms (usually 1.2k rpms). Put it into drive and and drove perfect. But stopped again and rpms dropped down to 500. Car sat for 1.5 months before today. Had shop look at it before and said all it needs is new spark plugs and coils. Did it but same issue. What do u guys think?

I was fired from my sales position at the beginning of March due to missing some time going through some mental health issues. I made peace with the company’s decision because I spent the last 18 months of a 5 year stint wishing I was closer to home so this was a welcomed “reset”.
The ownecompany has a history of just flat out screwing over employees as far how they’re treated, not paying their commissions after they leave, you name it, it probably happened. Suffice to say, I was skeptical that I would be paid out all of my commissions since I was no longer there to really have a say.
In an attempt to feel out the waters this with the owner, I reach out. I get a text back saying that I’d get paid any commissions owed after a number of deductions. Which was fair. I did have a few claims that I would/should pay my share of. What ticked me off on that list was a trip I won for me and a plus one Over $4,000 in value. For context I was expecting a final commission check roughly around $8k not factoring in the trip I suddenly was on the hook for. I did not attend the trip due to the health issues I mentioned at the beginning but my plus one DID go. A friend who happened to work there. Again, this was a trip I earned and nowhere was there any fine print that this could happen if someone didn’t go on the trip.
I decided that he wasn’t going to take advantage of me like he had done to so many others there and I filed a class action lawsuit for unpaid overtime wages so that anyone else who had been unfairly treated would finally have a voice and stand up for themselves. It’s going to cost a lot more than if he had just paid me my commissions owed sans the trip deduction. This isn’t a cash grab as I had done well for myself the last 3 years but the company treating me as if I wasn’t one of their top revenue earners the last three years, felt wrong.
This has not gone over well with the coworkers who I thought as of friends and one high ranking official there even uninvited from his wedding via text. “Just a heads up, don’t worry about watching the mail for a wedding invite. Seats are filled.” Realizing why I received the text, I call the bride and find out she’s blocked me on social media to apologize that my legal battle is having an impact outside of the workplace and in our personal lives but I never got the chance to before being cut off/out.
I can’t blame my friends/former colleagues for how they’re taking it because I’m not sure how my legal action is being portrayed to them. They might be fearful of their job security as I pursue this matter.

TLDR: Boss with shady business practices withheld my commissions to recoup a business expense/trip I earned for two. I filed a lawsuit to stand up for myself and others wronged by the company and now I’m hated by friends at the company / uninvited from a wedding.

Was prescribed 200mg test c/ 2 weeks. 3 times of injection site sore quads and tried 100/week. Soreness all but gone now. Had 3 month labs drawn last week and came back free 26, total at 271, psa 0.3, estrogen 18, fsh 5.3. Am I doing something wrong? I have been doing more yard work (20+ hours a week) and walking 3-4 hrs a week. Can exercise and work lower total T that much in 5 days after a shot? 57 years old 6' 4" 260 with 15% body fat. I am sleeping better, have less joint pain, and can keep my younger wife saying she's past good in bed.

Hello! I just wanted to hop on here real quick and share my story because not too long ago it was me looking for answers and hope. I am a 24 year old female that was originally “diagnosed” with HPV in 2020.
Backstory: I’d had a boyfriend at the time that cheated on me with his ex and got her pregnant (so obviously no condom). Before we’d started dating we’d gotten all the checks done and were clear to have intercourse without condoms as I had an IUD. He picked up the HPV from her and transferred it to me (yes we broke up but it was too late) and that’s where my story begins.
That year while in for my annual Pap smear I was told I had cell abnormalities, but my doctor never told me specifically it was HPV, just that’d we’d keep an eye on it. This happened for the next couple years until 2022 when I had a whole bunch of genital warts pop up. Initially I’d thought they were maybe razor burn and went to a walk in clinic to be sure. That day I was told by the male PA working that I was fine, it was indeed likely razor burn. Unfortunately, that was a bad call and they continued to spread like wildfire.
Months later I went in to see my gynecologist about the spots, she did a biopsy, and confirmed they were genital warts. We were too far past cryotherapy spot treatment at this point and it was the first time I officially heard I had HPV, not just “cell abnormalities.” I’m not sure why my doctor made it sound so casual, mentioning that lots of people got it at some point in their lives. Either way, I became completely sexually inactive out of fear of spreading it, how could I ever do that to someone? A few weeks later I went in for a full laser therapy surgery on my entire vagina, it was pretty unpleasant and I was out for a few days with a huge tube of aquaphor on hand. That was Dec. 2022.
Months later in July of 2023 I had another pap that still showed the abnormal HPV cells. This was a cause for concern by my doctor who suggested a loop electrosurgical excision procedure and to come in at my earliest convenience (I’d moved from OK to AZ but kept my doctor since we’d come so far together). Well I never got around to it and decided to get a new doctor in AZ because it was illogical to fly for those appointments.
I finally was able to get in to see the doctor of my choice on May 1st of 2024, who finally took the time to explain HPV, the test, how it’s detected, etc. During my pap she took one look at my cervix, said it looked healthy, and that they’d upload the results on the portal as well as give me a call. May 10, 2024 I finally received the normal/negative pap I’d been hoping for. To say I was surprised and overjoyed would be an understatement.
As for what I did? Well… I don’t really know. I graduated college in May 2022 and around that time I became pretty health conscious. I lost 25 pounds (160lbs to 135lbs as a 5’7” F) by working out multiple times a week, cutting out seed oils, drinking purified water, focusing on whole/natural foods, and getting more sleep. I can’t say for sure if this helped specifically, but you never know.
I also had never been HPV vaccinated and got my shots in 2023, I figured it wouldn’t hurt and my doctor gave me the green light.
I hope this helps someone realize it’ll be ok, but to keep up with those tests. I was convinced I’d have it forever and then one day it was just gone. I wish HPV was talked about and normalized more because I was confused and felt so dirty. I googled my little heart out, read all the Reddit pages, and ultimately found some peace with knowledge.
