2024.05.14 18:01 Short_Tackle7171 Geeetech A20 Printer Reverse Extruder feed + "ERR: NO FILAMENT" issue

hiii so. I'm new to 3D printers but I've essentially rebuilt this entire printer. I know every part works now, but I'm confused. The printer now when trying to print, will reverse the extruder feed and start rolling it out backwards. It then says "ERR: No filament" even during this, and it refuses to sense it. I wasn't initially having this issue, updated the firmware, had a ton of screaming, had to upload a DIFFERENT firmware that I think is now just causing the firmware sensor (which im not even sure WHERE that is, nothing says anywhere! which is very annoying). I just want to print my silly little cosplay props :(
I've tried custom gcode command, it kind of just beeped at me after it finished running and after resetting the printer as per instructions. It didn't do anything.
I'm not sure how or what wires to swap? I keep seeing stuff about switching wires but to be honest I need a picture here I'm so lost. I just want my printer to work man :( I can't afford a new one, and this one is kind of my child at this point I've put so much work into getting her to work and now that we are almost there, this strikes. Thank you!

2024.05.14 17:59 ginjang Some of my gameboys, what dyall think?

Some of my gameboys, what dyall think?
Let me explaine what they are:
the dmg is 100% original in pristine condition, i had the idea of uv printing a machester united front housing but ended up printing a sticker
the gbc on the left is also 100% original
the gbasp was an ags101 with a failing screen, i upgraded with drop in ips kit, and replaced the top and bottom shell. at the point i made this post i had decided to replace again with a nes edition aftermarket shell.
the budweiser boy is a custom shell + funnyplaying screen. when you turn it on the buttons and dpad will kind of reflect the light from under the screen so they look like backlit as well.
the ozzie ozzie ozzie console is modded with drop in ips kit. and i replaced the original lens with a repro glass lens. i intend not to keep its value as a limited console and play it as a regular one. when i took this picture i temporarily put a sticker around its top left corner to cover some scratches.
the gameboy advance is modded with drop in ips kit, and i keep everything original except the screen and lens.
the two cartridges at bottom are officially called songpro. they are really obsolete accessories that allow you play audio playback on a gameboy color or advance. those sd cards are used to store the music files(in mp3 or wma). you can have a playlist up to about 200 songs at a time. and physically switch the sd card to change playlist.
the two flashcards are, everdrive x7 and ezflash jr(with a custom shell and label). it says sydney 2000 bc i like the idea of that limited gameboy color in celebration of sydney olympic so i thought the flashcard could match with the theme.
among all these my edc is the ozzie gameboy color. and i also take out my gbasp often.
So what're your thoughts?

2024.05.14 17:32 jguadagno43 [SELL] Boosted Board V2 Dual+ XR, $449 or best offer.

Haven't been active on this subreddit in quite a while, and not sure if boards still sell on Reddit the way they used to back in the day Always knew this day would come and, at this point in my life, the board deserves a better home like the unused toys in Toy Story 3.
My relationship with this board was similar to what I imagine most people have with their first car, and I tried my best to treat it the same way Cameron's dad did his Ferrari in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. This board was my horse throughout college, taking me between the campuses of Rutgers New Brunswick so I could avoid the lengthy & crowded trips of the buses. It's never failed me.
WTS Boosted Board V2 Dual+ XR, $449 or best offer.
Description: One and only owner. ~500 miles. All electronics OEM. Original wheels, trucks, deck, etc. XR battery. Grip tape needed to be replaced at some point and, being a purist, I reached out to Boosted to see what grip tape they used for the front and back. I bought the same types they gripped the Dual+ with and did my best to use the original grip tape as a stencil for the branding. Pride myself on taking extremely good care of my stuff. Would personally label as Good/Very Good condition. Still charges & operates like the first day I got it. Has never needed to be serviced or has had any RLOD related incidents.
Accessories: 3D Printed truck risers and/or tail/nose bumpers (independently printed, not Flatland 3D) but will include the original ones. Original Charger, Controller, Mini USB Cable, truck risers, & sticker. Extra pulleys. Original hardware. Boosted Skate Tool. Boosted Backpack for carrying board & accessories. Kane's Thumbwheel that can be swapped with the original one on the controller for better use with gloves.
Just specific things I want to point out to be completely transparent about the condition. Will do my best to include specific close-up pictures of all things mentioned below:
  1. Grip tape job is not perfect. Obviously pretty easy to re-grip a board with a single new piece of tape but, having tried to replicate the OEM job, it is certainly not perfect.
  2. Slight chafing on nose and tail.
  3. Back wheels are slightly chewed from use.
  4. Seems to be a staple or something lodged very deeply in the back-right wheel. Honestly, super hard to get a picture of. It seems like it's lodged so deeply in there that it is now actually integral to the wheel. I imagine if I (or you) ever tried to dislodge it, it would take a significant chunk out of the wheel. I honestly don't think it's anything to worry about. Been there for most of the board's life & has never caused issues. Always thought it was more trouble than it was worth to try and extract.
Shipping / Pick-Up: I am located in South Jersey. Willing to travel / meet for local pick-up or test drive. Willing to ship but price of shipping would probably need to hammered out down the road. So far, FedEx seems to quote me somewhere between $15-$50 for shipping depending on where the recipient is located.
Thanks for taking the time to look/read! Please PM me if you have any questions or other photo requests that are not captured here: https://imgur.com/a/TGLMMXE

Milo, 16. It’s so hard when they hit the super senior stage.
Milo was my first dog of my own. I adopted him in college, February 2010, he was just under 2 years old. It was love at first sight. My roommate insisted we check out the animal shelter when we drove by and Milo was the first dog in the right hand stall. We were able to take Milo into a private room and when I was hesitant because I was not planning on adopted a dog… he jumped in my lap and it was game over (added the picture to this)
We’ve had over 14 years together and he’s been by my side for so many life changes. It hurts so bad to see him fighting to stay as long as he can.
Yesterday I clipped his nails to do a Mother’s Day paw print and I couldn’t throw away the clippings. I saved them and labeled the bag. I’ve been worrying every single thing will be the last. Last picture, last nail clip, last meal. I wake up every morning just hoping he made it through the night.
He still has his full appetite but is really slowing down in every other area. About a month ago I was able to have a mobile vet come and give him some comfort meds that have helped. I’ll never be ready to say goodbye. 😢

Problem with filament going where it shouldn't [Ender 3 s1 pro]

Here is a picture of my ender 3 s1 pro, and I am having some issues with filament finding its ways into areas it shouldn't. I had this issue awhile back and took the entire extruder apart, cleaned it, and put it back together, now I noticed a glob dripped onto my most recent print and caused it to fail, so I was wondering what I could do about this. I am still new to 3d printing, and have been printing since around last June.
It seems that when I heat it up and push filament through it, it is somehow getting in several other holes in the hot end, if I heat it up past around 220, it will start smoking. This problem is very annoying since it has the potential to ruin prints, and also produces a very bad smell. (Took off the rubber insulator for a better picture)
Any help is appreciated! I am new to please take it easy!

2024.05.14 16:28 localcatcharmer Syringes/Needles

Syringes/Needles
So first I'll start with a general question, do you organize your syringes and needles by gauge/length? Or by the B-D # on the box? (I'll address this later)
I moved to a new store a little over a year ago and I have had nothing but issues with my RxM. I am an RxOM from Arizona, and my store was ahead of a lot of the stores here in Virginia (that i recently moved to). By that I mean we were piloting a lot of stuff years before this store has begun starting them. For example CENFILL was just launched recently at my store in VA and we had already had that at my AZ store for like 3 years previous. From the beginning pilot in AZ I experienced, nothing had really changed about it here in VA so I had a lot of tips and things to help my staff understand it and get used to it. Every single thing I brough up for it my RxM fought me on. I told her we shouldn't scan it in until we have it all put up because as soon as we scan it all the patients get a text that they are ready and they flock to the pharmacy and then its a wild goose chase trying to locate the scripts. So she scans it as soon as we get the totes in. I told her to scan all the totes at once when we are finished because it'll print out ONE long list of scripts we need to pull from the bins, so she scans them individually after each tote is put away. I suggested dividing the pharmacy into sections for outdates so everyone is responsible for their own small section and she said no its easier to just send a tech and have them do it and leave a sticker for the next random person to pick up from. She literally does the opposite of what I suggest for EVERYTHING. Also coming from a different store I have a different perspective so I can see what things are working and what arent, or things that could be made easier for the team because all the techs are practically brand new. The DM has even mentioned to me that its MY pharmacy and I can move things around and change it to my liking. He said ive done a great job pulling this store above water and that whatever im doing its working.
Now, my RxM had the syringes organized by the order of the B-D numbers. Every store I have ever worked at including my old store had them arranged by gauge and needle size. I noticed we had a lot of issues with needles and syringes being in OOS because everyone was confused on how the syringes were organized. It makes sense because when you organize by the B-D number the gauges and sizes all jump around so its like 18g is next to 25g next to 23g. I ASKED EVERY TECH AND THE STAFF PHARMACIST if it would be easier if i organized them by gauge and needle size because then you can just go and see that it goes 18g, then 21g, then 23g etc. All of them said yes that makes way more sense to them for them to be in order because when they go to the back they are looking for '25g 1in 1ml' not B-D #9576. I WOULD NOT have changed it if they said they liked it the way it is. It took me about three days in between customers and lunches to reorganize and get all the mylars re-done. I come in on a monday morning and my RxM is grinning ear to ear.
RxM: Did you see the syringes? Me: No why RxM: I changed them back to how they were :) Me: Why? It took me days to fix that RxM: The general consensus from this weekend was that its better this way not by gauge Me: Who is the general consensus? It was only you and 1 tech this weekend, so that leaves me, the staff pharmacist, and three other techs you didnt ask if it was okay to move them. I asked everyone before I moved them and everyone said it made more sense by gauge. Im just going to change them back. RxM: You CAN'T move them back I OVERRIDE YOU Me: I will be moving them back when I have the time
Fast forward to yesterday, my staff is super irritated that RxM moved them too because we had techs from other stores helping us all last week who couldn't find syringes due to RxM moving them back to B-D #. Staff confronted RxM about it because she obviously wasn't included in the 'consensus' or she would have objected. Picture in thread is the conversation between me and Staff. I am light brown she is dark brown bubble. My last response to my Staff was:
"It 'hasn't been an issue' except everyone OOS the syringes bc they don't understand how she has it. She has a whole brand new team now, and I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE that gauge is easier. And this team being as new as it is could use easy solutions. Why is she refusing to make things easier for everyone else???"
The syringes isn't the only issue, this was just the last straw and most recent act of her being stubborn and I am sick of the 'I have been doing this for 20 years' excuse. Times change and she should adjust. Also mind you her whole previous team left because they couldnt stand her. The team I have currently is BRAND NEW to her, to walgreens, and to the pharmacy.

2024.05.14 16:25 svenlsch HOG membership loosing value fast.

Been a HOG member for years and finally a “lifetime member” about 5 years ago. Pins and patches are usually nice (with a few very sad exceptions). They no longer send a printed magazine. The real value was in the “Roadside Assistance.” This morning I broke down and called them up as I’ve done many times in the past (I have a collection of over 20 vintage motorcycles and I ride a lot). I asked to be taken to the same shop they always take me and they said I was not covered (only about a mile away). I called HOG membership and a very unpleasant short tempered old lady told me now I can only be taken to authorized Harley-Davidson dealerships. The HOG membership lady laughed when I said the membership no longer had value and I wanted a refund for the lifetime membership I bought. I explained that other than Roadside assistance I didn’t see much value in yearly pins and patches, a glitchy app that offers trip suggestions (I can read a map and plan my own), and an online only magazine (the printed magazine wasn’t great either as it only had adds and bad pictures of HOG meetings. The HOG membership old lady told me she had plenty of loyal members to which I replied “not for long.” The lady hung up on me. Mind you this all happened as I was on the side of the roar, in the heat with a broken down Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Don’t waste your time and money with HOG.

2024.05.14 16:21 gbarnas Sudden print failure - bed adhesion?

Sudden print failure - bed adhesion?
I'm looking for some thoughts on this print problem that suddenly arose yesterday.
For context, I have an X1C with two AMS units. AMS 1 has White, Gray, and Black PLA+ and Bambu Support, AMS 2 has Red, Blue, and Green PLA+. All PLA+ is from SUNLU. Currently using a 0.2mm hot end and a 0.1mm layer height (extra fine). This is a fairly slow print speed of 40mm/s for layer 1 and 60mm/s for other outer walls, 150mm/s inner walls.
I completed a print early in the day of "poker chips" using white, blue, and gray that printed perfectly. I wiped the plate with 99% IPA, then proceeded to print a collection of 5 small objects - HO-Scale details. The job was set up to print "by object" because they were different colors (each a single color) and the number of filament changes would otherwise be excessive. 6 fire hydrants - RED (2X5mm with PLA Support interface layer), 4 vending machines - RED (5X14X3mm), a Tardis - BLUE (12x12x24mm), and 55-gallon drums - BLACK (5x9mm w/ 4mm brim). The red and blue items printed perfectly but the black drums failed miserably with poor adhesion resulting in spaghetti. I cleaned the plate again, modified the project to include only the array of oil drums, and duplicated it. I placed the sets in opposite corners and set one to gray and the other to white, thinking that something was wrong with the black filament (not used in the prior job). I had the same results with the white and cancelled the job before starting the gray. See the photo for the plate and the detail of the drums. Red lines indicate issues. The head was dragging a small clump of spaghetti around while printing which probably removed the bases from the objects center and right side.
What has me wondering is that the white and gray printed perfectly during the prior job, and the same job had no issues with other colors. I also tried my textured PEI plate and had similar results with poor adhesion.
Print temp (based on a temp tower) is 225C, bed is 65C first layer, 55C remaining layers, and no part cooling for first layer. Top glass is open (also tried with top removed), door is closed, cabinet fan is 20%. Both AMS units have 4 Desiccant trays and a hydrometer showing 12% RH and 71F for the AMS over the printer and 12% / 69F for the one on the side. The room is 70F and 47% RH and this is a finished basement room, temp is consistently 68-70F and 45-50% RH.
This job was stopped after layer 4, which means that each of the 25 brims (which look fine) should have the base of the drums like the ones on the left. A few brims show mild poor adhesion but that's because the plate cooled overnight and flexed slightly when removing it to take the picture. The two bases on the top-left are lifting, bottom left has excess filament.

Help me find this Hanes t shirt
I got this shirt from a site called "4imprint," where you can buy customized clothes in bulk. Now, I'm trying to find this exact shirt somewhere else. It's my favorite blank white tee because it fits me perfectly, which matters a lot since my body shape is a bit unusual. I included a picture of the tag with the model and codes printed on it: "RN15763" and "CA00153." A quick search online reveals that these are the item numbers for "Hanes tagless underwear and t-shirts." However, I'm pretty sure this shirt is different from the current "Hanes tagless" shirt because the thickness and fit are completely off! Can you help me find where to buy it?

2024.05.14 15:53 sloppyfart69 Crimson Chaos RDA

Crimson Chaos RDA
So ive been working on this deck for a long time, and now im starting to work on rarity maxing. Between the cards and the sleeves ive probably got almost $300 in value just in the extra deck. The whole deck adds up to just under $500 accessories and all. I got really lucky and pulled that chaos angel in a booster though so i havent spent nearly that much. My 25th anniversary secret rare Crimson Dragon just got here yesterday tho and hes worth a little over $100 so i thought id get a picture of the whole squad and share it w yall. Do you guys have a deck that youve "decked out" with especially rare printings or specific accessories?
Would love to see em if u feel like sharing.
Btw im looking for a ghost rare RDA now if anyone has one theyd wanna sell or trade hmu. i have a pretty decent selection of old school ultis and some of them are worth more than $200 so im sure we could work something out.

This happens with different print sheets and filaments. Normal prints seem fine, but full size first layer tests are not working well.
Attached is a picture from the top and from the bottom.

2024.05.14 15:08 YourlocalTitanicguy Odd Titanica: Hollywood sleaze

In this edition of “Odd Titanica”, we are going to dive into the sleazy, opportunistic world of show business. A world that comedian Fred Allen said of, “you can take all the sincerity in Hollywood, place it in the navel of a fruit fly, and still have room for three caraway seeds and a producer’s heart”. Hyperbolic? Let’s take a look at Hollywood’s response to the Titanic disaster to see that there really is no business like show business.
Dorothy Gibson and the lost, first, film are well worn trivia by now. The traumatized actress rushed into production, her inability to process her trauma causing her mental breakdown, collapse, and retirement from acting immediately after the film was finished - it’s a perfect story to demonstrate the callousness of the film industry. But there is more to the story, and digging deeper shows us that “Saved” may have been the least sleazy project undertaken by the studios.
Dorothy’s account of the sinking and the suffering she endured filming “Saved from the Titanic” are predominantly found in two sources - The New York Dramatic Mirror and Moving Picture World. These were trade magazines, published weekly, and consisting solely of material related to the stage and screen business. These would be announcements of upcoming features, casting news, celebrity gossip, technical news - anything the movie star to the man sweeping the floor at the cinema needed to know. And they included ads … lots and lots of ads.
Immediately realizing that Titanic was not only a horrible tragedy but an incredible business opportunity, Moving Picture World got to work. As people stormed White Star Line offices, and raided newspaper carts for any drop of news regarding the sinking, Moving Picture World provided the latest in Titanic news; or perhaps we should say “Titanic” news.
The headlines of the April 27th issue may have screamed TITANIC, but as the public grabbed their copy and hurriedly flipped through the pages, they found that what they were actually given was ads. Those eye grabbing headlines were followed by much smaller print-
TITANIC EFFORTS... are being exerted by Champion to put before the exhibitors that will make them regular Champ Patrons! Get the following latest [releases] and you’ll be convinced!.
UNSINKABLE … is the reputation of Rep productions, but these two releases will sink into the minds of everyone who sees them and will remain there as worthy object lessons.
THE CRY OF THE CHILDREN …suggested by the poem of Elizabeth Barret Browning in 2 reels this Tuesday!
THE GREATEST MOTION PICTURE OF NATIONAL INTEREST - THE SINKING OF…. the big battleship. Remember the Maine!
THE DEATH SHIP...a sensational two reel drama of the sea containing one of the most thrilling dynamite explosions imaginable!
For all the slimy marketing tricks, flipping through the pages still has plenty of legitimate ads for real Titanic newsreels, movies, and a specific type of presentation known a Myriorama involving painting, music, and recitation. But, show business would strike again - the ads were legitimate, but what they were advertising was not. History has sort of forgotten the huge demand for Titanic media in the wake of the sinking, something that didn’t really exist. When cinema owners would order these “only surviving genuine negatives of the disaster” complete with lobby display package, they instead received-
our astonishment to find the Lusitania and Olympic, and one or two scratch films of ancient days posing as pictures of Titanic.
But they didn’t stop. Animated Weekly advertised that they were “the first to reach the wreck… chartered a tug from Cape Breton and rushed to the scene while the survivors were still in the water”. Cinemas began to promote footage of the sinking. Audiences wrote their disgust to Moving Picture World-
These representations are to the point of criminality … Take, for instance, the picture showing the Titanic with about a sixth of her forward length stuck into the iceberg. Everybody knows the collision did not occur in that manner!
They pointed to the following ad as an example - FIRST PICTURES OF THE TITANIC OCEAN DISASTER. The cinema owners responded by noting that they had misread, crammed in tiny letters were the words “sunk in” so that ad actually read FIRST PICTURES OF THE TITANIC sunk in OCEAN DISASTER. It was the customer's fault, they said, to be stupid enough to think anyone could have actually filmed the sinking.
Once this ruse was discovered, the studios shifted gears. The next step was to advertise film along with presentations by “A Lecturer who was on board”. When the audience realized the lecturer was not on Titanic and demanded a refund - the response from the managers was
Those signs didn’t say he was a survivor.
… and any attempt to charge him with the crime of fraud was absurd because, in his own words-
Of course I didn’t give him his money back. The sign didn’t misrepresent anything. West was on the Titanic, the sign didn’t say when he was.
…which was true. The lecturer, Eugene West, had visited Titanic while she was under construction at Belfast.
As for the movies themselves?
We said we had pictures. If people were foolish enough to think we meant moving pictures, that was their fault.
This particular cheated audience member was told if he wanted his money back, to go on the street and sing for it. Whether it was this, or something else, eventually the public snapped and began hauling out cinema managers and beating them in the streets. By May, the mayors of Boston and Memphis had banned the showing of any Titanic pictures - moving or still- within the city.
But, where was Dorothy in all this? Tucked in the very back of the magazine, after another newsreel ad,, we get to the celebrity sighting and gossip section. Ed Lux of the Rex Film Exchange was in town, Dan Markowitz of Fox Pictures was as well, Arthur Schmidt of the Victor Film Company was seen having a lovely spa at a Turkish Bath, Sam Gobel of the St Louis Motion Picture Company has been walking up and down 42nd street, we don’t know if Southern film maker Henry Wasserman is still here but he might be, Dorothy Gibson survived the sinking of the Titanic, and the Director of Selig Pictures took some actresses to Santa Catalina for a swim and a photoshoot and they had a great time.
By the following edition, on May 2nd, Moving Picture World was also able to provide its readers with the first stills from “Saved from the Titanic” and a feature on Dorothy. Along with this, tucked in the editorials, the magazine finally published a piece of truthful news about the Titanic disaster-
Senator William Alden Smith … declined to grant permission to have the cinematopgraph make a record of the sessions of the committee. “The sessions” he is quoted as saying…”are solemn affairs and must not be hippodromed or commercialized”. He is, however, falling into a serious error in judgement-
…they sniffed.
As a matter of right, the camera man ought to have been permitted. The day of the enfranchisement of the motion picture will surely come .. which will give equal rights to the cinematographer and the newspaper man.
Then, among the illegal false advertising and reports of public brawls at the cinema, they ended with-
The lesson of the Titanic disaster and all its incidents can be made far more impressive by pictures that move than by mere words in cold letters.

Making the Breakthrough (SN 56.32)
Just as it’s impossible to keep water in a basket of pine needles, it’s impossible to end suffering without penetrating the four noble truths.
A container for carrying water made with lotus leaves depicted in a Japanese woodblock printing style
"Bhikkhus, if someone were to say: 'Without truly understanding the noble truth of suffering, without truly understanding the noble truth of the origin of suffering, without truly understanding the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, and without truly understanding the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering, I will completely end suffering' — it is not possible.
Just as, bhikkhus, if someone were to say: 'I will make a container out of acacia leaves, or pine leaves, or tamarind leaves, and with it, I will fetch water or carry palm fruit' — it is not possible; similarly, bhikkhus, if someone were to say: 'Without truly understanding the noble truth of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path leading to the cessation of suffering, I will completely end suffering' — it is not possible.
However, bhikkhus, if someone were to say: 'By truly understanding the noble truth of suffering, by truly understanding the noble truth of the origin of suffering, by truly understanding the noble truth of the cessation of suffering, and by truly understanding the noble truth of the path leading to the cessation of suffering, I will completely end suffering' — it is indeed possible.
Just as, bhikkhus, if someone were to say: 'I will make a container out of lotus leaves, or Butea leaves, or Hibiscus leaves, and with it, I will fetch water or carry palm fruit' — it is indeed possible; similarly, bhikkhus, if someone were to say: 'By truly understanding the noble truth of suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path leading to the cessation of suffering, I will completely end suffering' — it is indeed possible.
Therefore, here, bhikkhus, effort should be made to understand: 'This is suffering. This is the path leading to the cessation of suffering'."
-----------
The Buddha encouraged his students to inquire into suffering: to see its presence across all of one's experiences, to understand its cause, and the way of practice that leads to its cessation.
He personally inquired into this actively for over a period of 6 years, and then shared teachings for over 45-years helping his students be able to do the same. The key aspects of what he found and shared as I understand are:
  • This inquiry encompasses all of the intelligent inquiries that a being can make, and is of the highest consequence and relevance.
  • The cessation of suffering is also the ending of a life lived under the influence of craving/desire/attachment. It is not death or extinction, rather a new life that knows no death: which is lived with wisdom and mindfulness.
  • The way of practice to realize this is gradual, the benefits realized are gradual, the ceasing of operating under the influence of craving/desire/attachments is gradual, the cultivation of wisdom is gradual and even the experience of the state of enlightenment itself is gradual.
  • That Enlightenment can be experienced only for oneself: and it is a state of joy that is independent of all conditions, where one has blossoming relationships, is operating with ease in the world, is freed from beliefs about "self", has a high degree of concentration and is able to recollect what was said and done long ago (has sharp mindfulness).
#1. The Noble Truth of Suffering (dukkha, discontentment, Stress)
The Five Aggregates of form, feeling, perception, volitional formations, and consciousness are subject to clinging (grasping, holding on, attachment, involvement). These aggregates, which constitute what an ordinary person perceives as 'self,' are impermanent and subject to change. The misunderstanding of their nature—clinging to them as if they are stable and permanent—leads to discontentment, stress, suffering, sorrow, lamentation. This truth encourages us to recognize the inherently unsatisfactory nature of conditioned experiences.
The five aggregates are what makes a living being a living being, i.e. all living beings have these five aggregates, e.g. humans, animals. In contrast, non-living beings do not have all five of these aggregates, e.g. plants, AI, Covid virus.
#1. The noble truth of discontentment should be understood Picture credit: https://twitter.com/AlexJenkinsArt/status/1750174065954811930
The five aggregates are:
  1. Form: the physical body
  2. Feeling: pleasant, painful, neither painful-nor-pleasant feeling experienced due to contact at one of the six sense bases
  3. Perception: a belief or opinion based on how things seem, experienced due to contact at one of the six sense bases. Perceptions can be of forms, sounds, odors, tastes, tactile sensations, and mental objects (ideas)
  4. Volitional formations: Intentions, choices, decisions. Volitional formations can be relating to forms, sounds, odors, tastes, tactile sensations, and mental objects (ideas)
  5. Consciousness: The subjective awareness. There is eye-consciousness, ear-consciousness, nose-consciousness, tongue-consciousness, body-consciousness and mind-consciousness.
Verifying discontentment in the here and now:
On contact through the six sense doors: on eye (seeing forms), ear (hearing sounds), nose (smelling odors), tongue (tasting flavors), body (tactile sensations, touch), mind (mental objects, idea), a living being experiences either a pleasant, painful or a neither-painful-nor-pleasant type of feeling. This is often accompanied by perceptions of the same:
  1. Pleasant feeling: Feeling/Perception of happiness, excitement, joy, elation, thrill, exhilaration, euphoria
  2. Painful feeling: Feeling/Perception of sadness, anger, frustration, irritation, annoyance, guilt, shame, fear, stress
  3. Neither painful-nor-pleasant feeling: Feeling/Perception of boredom, loneliness, melancholy, shyness, displeased, uncomfortable, unsatisfactoriness
These feelings and perceptions, including those of happiness, excitement, joy, elation, thrill, euphoria; being impermanent, have the characteristic of discontentment.
Across all contacts that a "being" who is not enlightened has, the experience of discontentment is present and it is possible to become aware of it. Under the mistaken belief of seeing the impermanent pleasant and agreeable feelings and perceptions to be permanent, living beings operate based on craving/desire/attachment. This however typically leads to furthering of conflict in one's relationships, to dis-integrated experiences that grow over time, and to burdensome beliefs/assumptions. Beings operating in such a way find themselves entrenched by what is seen, heard and assumed.
Here are a few exercises to aid with cultivating an understanding of impermanence:
  1. Visualise the life you have spent till now as a number of days. What is the perception of the time that has gone by: Does it appear as whole on reflection, or perhaps mere minutes or seconds? Although many experiences felt that they would last "forever", one can observe through reflection that they arose, they changed, and they passed away. This is the universal truth of impermanence.
  2. Next, visualise the life you've likely remaining to spend based on median life span where you live at, as the number of days: Does it appear that one has "forever" (a lot of time) still left? If so, this is the mind not understanding the universal truth of impermanence. Perception of youth, health, and life, leads one to complacency, leads one to indulge in sensual pleasures.
  3. Cultivating mindfulness of death, contemplating the likely manner in which one may die, coming to terms with the impermanent nature of life is what arises diligence, a desire to learn about that which is not subject to impermanence, and towards building of a life practice that helps with this. A teaching to aid in cultivating mindfulness of death
Abiding in jhānas and cultivating mindfulness of the body through a dedicated gradual practice of the gradual training guidelines (based on MN 107) enables one to investigate into the nature of impermanence of the five aggregates. For it is due to seeing permanence where there is impermanence that the aggregates become subject to clinging (grasping, holding on).

2024.05.14 14:40 ejvboy02 Issues with silk filament.

Issues with silk filament.
I have recently started having issues printing with silk filament. I have been printing this same file with the same material for just about years, no issues until now. The brand I used in the picture is Geetech, but I have tried other brands with the same result. Normal PLA prints fine.
I have tried a few troubleshooting steps but none have revealed anything. I have swapped out the hotend, cut back and leveled the Bowden tube, calibrated e steps and checked the extruder to see if it is clamping too hard, but the issue persists. Turning up the temperature has helped in the past but at this point I have to crank it to 230, which seems excessive to me. The filament diameter doesn't seem to be out of line, before and after the extruder.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm tearing my hair out over this.
