Efficient plastic boiler for MiniBase with triple counterflow heat exchanger
This is a project I've been bouncing around in the back of my head for quite some time. Other have shared builds for this before but most of them are not practical for MiniBase maps I believe. This one is heavily inspired by Francis Johns Mini Sour Gas Boiler.
Let's see the build:
Left hand side, with enough space for a rocket silo. Can be rearranged a bit but this one is optimised for a base I'm currently working on.
Power
Liquids
Gases
Solids (to get consistent packet size, put a conveyor meter on your belt, set it to the desired packet size and set reset to an always true signal).
Automation
In my case I'm feeding 4 natural gas generators with it, I'm pretty sure it can handle more volume but imo this is not practical on a map this small.
This build is quite expensive to build everyting is thermium and the small pump in the first heat exchanger is made of plastium.
5 dreckos should be enough for the plastic required, if you let the eggs hatch and shear the babies before they starve you'll need even less.
Why did I build this if using this with oil is better in every way? Honestly just for the fun of figuring it out, also in the lategame I'm always trying to not hoard too many materials. I usually try to get rid of everything I do not need and try to balance production for everything else. I typically have a lot of plastic lying around in the endgame, so burning it for energy seemed to be a logical solution.
Hope this helps!

Printing a set of minis and running into issues.
Printed minis, few didn't print
Tried printing a few minis using the FDG 2mm preset. Haven't had an issue with the couple dozen I've printed up til this point, however for some reason these I ended up with two that never went past the ankle. These are Brite Minis so they should work without supports... Is putting models too close together on the build plate the issue?

Speedy Bandoulière 20 Damier Ebene
Hello everyone. I am thinking of purchasing a Speedy Bandoulière 20 Damier Ebene. I am 5’0 and I feel like the size of this bag would be great for me. I currently own a Mini Pochette Accessoires. I have it for over 3 years now and been using it everyday since I got it in 2020. It still looks brand new and the quality is very great that’s why I’m thinking of getting the same material for my first LV purse.
I do not mind the fabric strap that comes with the purse. I also plan on checking the purse in store. With that being said, what are your thoughts on Speedy Bandoulière 20 Damier Ebene? Thank you for your feedback!

2024.06.07 18:47 domka92 Downscale ARRI 2K to 1080p

Hi,
We are shooting a documentary series for broadcast and our final delivery will be in 1080i25.
We will be using the ARRI ALEXA Mini and shooting in 16:9 2K 25p to give us a bit more room for stabilisation. Since the scaling factor from 2K to HD is not an even number, I am not sure if there will be a loss in quality.
What is your experience with this? Is it better to shoot in HD to avoid uneven pixels?

2024.06.07 18:40 TwatWaffleWhitney Neck Beard Double Take

I know Reddx is trying to move away from neckbeard stories, so I decided to finally submit my short NeckBeard encounter in the hopes that our humble lord Reddx would grace my scribbling with his melodious voice.
A quick warning that this contains attempted schmexual assault.
This story takes place ten years ago, two months after I turned nineteen. I had spent the previous year interning with a well-known horse trainer. (To this day, it's the coolest thing I have ever done.) I left home for the year-long internship a healthy 112lb at 5’1” and returned 105lb. I also had brown hair down to my waist, and my eyes appeared large in my too-thin face, and I was mistaken for 13 or 14 on a regular basis. I think I could have been considered beard-bait
Now, back living with my parents, I needed employment. My options were limited in our small town. I didn’t fancy trying to work at one of the crumbling fast food joints, so I applied for our local cleaning company. Being a maid sounded perfect! It combined my love of cleaning and my intense curiosity in the lives of strangers. I loved the idea of peeking into people`s homes and getting a glimpse of what took place behind twitching curtains.
After convincing the owner that I was indeed an adult and not a small child with a fake ID, I was hired. The owner placed me with two senior maids who we will call, Laverne and Shirley. Lavern and Shirley were former chain-smoking meth Muppets that now resembled shriveled craisins in their mid-forties. They had given up smoking for vaping; specifically, banana nut bread vape.
Laverne and Shirley had one other notable idiosyncrasy. Laverne would say something apropos of nothing, like “yesterday was too sunny for me” and finish the thought with a sing song “♪Ya know♪.” And then Shirley would repeat “♪Ya know♪.” This would continue the whole drive, between puffs of banana nut bread vape. To this day, I can’t hear someone say ‘ya know’ without muttering a ‘♪Ya know♪’ under my breath.
One fateful Tuesday, I pulled into work, hopped out of my 1993 Skylark, and into our cleaning van just like I had done for the past three weeks.
Shirley: Hey there TwatWaffle, we’re goin’ to a new house today. It’ll be our first time there. We might be there longer than usual.
Laverne: Hopefully you packed a good lunch. We can't stop today, ya know
Shirley: ♪ YA know ♪
OP: Oh, cool! I love cleaning new houses. Yeah, I packed lunch.
We were off on a new adventure. The light babbling of Laverne and Shirley’s inane chattering belied the utter horror that waited for me. Laverne turned into a housing development of McMansions, huge houses with two square feet of lawn, all built about five feet apart. We unloaded our equipment, swung open the door, and revealed… a beautiful, almost immaculate home. Sweet, this should be an easy, quick job. We all took a brief tour of the house to snoo- I mean, familiarize ourselves with the layout.
Shirley: The order says downstairs kitchen, bathroom, and living room. Upstairs bathroom and basement bathroom.
OP: Do you know how to get to the basement?
Laverne: No, this is our first time here too ya know
Shirley: ♪Ya know♪
So, we continued to familiarize ourselves by opening every door in the house to find the basement. After opening doors to pantries, bedrooms, closets, and an office, Laverne finally found the door that led to the basement.
Leverne: TwattWaffle! Shirley! Over here!
The door Laverne found opened to cement stairs that disappeared into a dark abyss. Shirley pushed past us and flicked on the light. The stairwell, now illuminated, led to a brightly lit exercise room. We all made our way down and surveyed the numerous and expensive pieces of workout equipment as we wandered deeper into the basement.
The basement was narrow but seemed to run the full length of the house. An opening to another hallway was at the opposite end of the exercise room. The hall was lit by a dull bulb, which cast a yellow light on the awful carpet it oversaw. The center of the carpet was a deep brown, and the edges a sad dusty pink. The carpet’s pile had long since had its will crushed and now laid flat. Stains of all shapes and viscosity made parts of the brown depressed carpet even darker and crustier. To the left were two closed doors; the first door had light leaking out around its poorly fitted frame, and the second was completely dark.
The gym room smelled musty and a little sweaty but nowhere near bile-inducing. However, the smell emanating from the hall threatened to steal my breakfast. Laverne and Shirley stood at the entrance to the hall, not daring to step on the carpet.
Shirley: TwatWaffle go open the first door.
OP: Sure
On tiptoe, I went to the first door, grabbed the greasy knob, turned it, and pushed. A wave of ammonia slapped me like a-pimp-named-slick-back and face fucked my nose raw dawg. I stepped back into the hall, trying to get a fresh-ish breath. But it was too late; opening the door let the full force of rank smell gush into the hall. So, instead, I pulled my shirt over my nose, which acted like a condom against the assault on my olfactory senses.
Leverne and Shirley had been watching, but when I reeled back, they both came forward to chastise me for being dramatic.
Shirley: Come on, it can’t be that… Oh hell
Leverne: Stop being a pus… Fuck me sideways.
The smell had finally wafted to them as they came forward, and they, too, pulled their shirts over their faces.
The three of us stood in the doorway, surveying the horror. A sink to the left is covered in black, something… Mold? Dust? Curiosity made me take a step forward; peering at the sink, I saw hair. Short black hairs, curly black hairs, and long strands of black hair covered the sink in a fine layer. I looked at the ground and saw that it, too, was covered in an assortment of hairs. I willed myself to look up at the mirror which hung over the sink. The mirror was so thickly speckled with white and pinkish spots that I could hardly see my face. My stomach lurched and rolled; I knew too well what those milky spots were from.
Then, I went to the porcelain throne that was once a functional toilet but had become a biohazardous receptacle some time ago. Brown sludge filled the entire bowl. Thick yellow-brown stains colored the outer rim and ran down the base, pooling at the bottom. This sight and the overpowering stench finally got me, and I wretched.
Laverne: OK! I’ll knock out the upstairs pot, Laverne, you start on the kitchen, and I’ll help you when I’m finished. TwatWaffle, get started here.
Spinless people pleasing me croaked
OP: Yeah, okay.
Laverne and Shirley quickly walked away and booked it back upstairs. I went to my cleaning caddy, opened the bottle of bleach, and inhaled deeply. The bleach burnt in my nose, but it also gave me a little relief from the putrid smells gang banging my nose. Next, I pulled on my thick rubber gloves, summoned all the willpower I possessed, and headed back to the toilet. I pushed the handle, hoping to flush the fecal McSlurry, but nothing happened. I took the top off the tank and found that the pull chain had come undone. The chain reattached, I pushed again. Water rushed into the bowl, and the liquid butt fudge began to rise. Sheer panic ripped through my heart as I contemplated having to mop old stagnant shit off the floor. The slurry came level with the rim of the bowl when suddenly I heard a glop glop. Air from the pipes escaped, and slowly, the sewage oozed down the toilet drain and away from the rim of the bowl.
One crisis averted, I decided to start on the sink while the toilet’s tank refilled. It was going to take two or three more flushes to get it all down. I began scrubbing and wiping, letting myself get lost in my own head as I performed the familiar task. After about five minutes of ferocious cleaning, a sound cut into my consciousness—a heavy sort of breathing. I looked up and caught in the mirror a form filling the doorway. I jumped and spun around to face The Thing.
I hastily babbled
OP: Oh my gosh. I’m so sorry. You scared me. Hi, I’m TwatWaffle, I’m here with Local Cleaning Company. Did you need to use this bathroom? I’ll be done shortly if you can wait.
The Thing stood silently, his mass filling the doorway. A light grey shirt with dark stains under each arm struggled and failed to contain the bulk of his abdomen. I could almost hear the cries of agony from the threads of fabric that made up his tortured navy sweatpants, which were being stretched to their limit. The flesh was so abundant on his face that it rendered it almost featureless. Angry red pimples dappled the entire landscape of his skin.
OP: I can step out now, if you can’t wait.
The Thing just stood there, staring. By this time, I had huffed enough bleach that the bathroom smells were bearable. But The Thing’s body odor had Billy Cosby-ed my defenses and was having its way with my piriform cortex. As nonchalantly as possible, I brought my bleached, soaked rag up to my face, like wiping sweat from my brow, and took another whiff of bleach. We stood just staring at each other for a long, awkward minute.
OP: Okay… Well, if you need the bathroom, let me know.
I turned and went back to cleaning. I flushed the toilet for a third time. Now, the toilet water was just cloudy with sediment. I scrubbed at the left-over streaks that had crusted and clung to the bowl. A fourth and final flush had the toilet looking as good as it was ever going to look again.
I might have been looking at this disgusting commode, but all my attention was on the figure lurking in the doorway. As I got on my knees, intent on cleaning up the thick, viscous yellow puddles, I heard The Things breathing increase and then fade. I dared a glance over my shoulder; The Thing was gone.
Finished with the toilet, I turned my attention to the shower. A glance at the drain revealed that, to Ramtides's query, The Thing was a waffle stomper. Clearly, with the toilet out of commission, The Thing had been using the shower to relieve themself. Hair was also sprinkled liberally over it all.
Giving myself a little pep talk.
OP: Okay, I’m almost done. I can do this. I’m almost finis-
Then, from the doorway, a voice gurgled
The Thing: Hello M’lady.
I whip around, slightly less startled this time but twice as confused. The Thing is talking? And it changed clothes? It now wore a black shirt and cargo shorts, which fit him only slightly better than his previous attire.
OP: Hi, Do you need the bathroom now? I’m pretty much finished; just need to wipe down the shower. I fixed the toilet, so it flushes now.
The Thing: Ahh, clever and beautiful. May I know M`lady’s name?
I was a little confused, considering I told him my name about fifteen minutes ago. But then I also struggle remembering names sometimes.
OP: I’m TwatWaffle, with Local Cleaning Company.
I noticed movement over The Things' shoulder, another shape in the dim hallway. And that is when everything clicked. I remembered seeing pictures lining the upstairs hall—pictures of a Mom, Dad, and two identical cherubic little boys—twins. This then was Thing2, and I had previously met Thing1. Dear god, basement-dwelling twin neckbeards.
Thing2: TwatWaffle, a lovely name for a lovely lady. M’lady, I need your assistance; I accidentally kicked my computer mouse under my bed. Neither I nor Thing1 can reach it. Perhaps M’lady would be willing to retrieve it.
OP: I’m not supposed to do anything that’s not on our cleaning order.
Thing2: But I’m not asking you to clean anything. I’m simply requesting that you do something for me as a favor. Surely, helping your client reach something isn’t against your rules. It’ll only take you a minute.
OP: I guess not, just let me spray down the shower and then I’ll help you.
Thing2: Excellent…
Thing2 lumbered back to their room. Thing1 stood for a moment longer in the hallway, staring before waddling after its brother. I finish up the shower, gathered the trash and used cleaning wipes, and put my supplies back in the caddy. I unscrew the bleach bottle one more time and inhale the fumes before walking to the next room and entering The Things’ nest.
What hit me first this time was a sweaty, musty smell, underlined by a salty, stale smegma. Then, as I stepped forward, the unmistakable stank of rotting food came edged in, joining the bukaki of smells in my nose. This room was also narrow and long. On the right and left sides against the wall were desks, each had two large monitors. LED gamer lights were hung on the wall, but the thick layer of dust that coated everything in the room dimmed their rainbow-light pattern. The only other lighting in the room came from a narrow window set high up in the wall and the glow from the monitors.
But scant light clearly illuminated dishes, pizza boxes, cans, and assorted bottles filled with suspicious liquids that lay in heaps around the desks. Stray bits of trash were scattered everywhere else. Beneath my feet was brown-crusted flooring that might have once resembled a carpet. On the back wall were two full beds set end to end. Thing2 sat on the right bed, and Thing1 sat in a chair, staring at something on one of the monitors.
Thing2: Here M’lday, it’s under my bed.
Holding my breath, I walked forward, knelt on the hard, stiff carpet, and peered under the bed. The mouse lay right there at the edge. Surely, Thing2 could have reached that far himself? I picked it up and held the mouse out to him.
Thing2: Thank you. You’re so kind and helpful. Perhaps you can sit with me for a moment and talk. It’s so rare that I get to meet such a beautiful lady.
OP: You’re welcome, but I have to go. Shirley and Laverne are waiting for me, and we have more work to do.
I turned to walk away when I felt something I will never forget. A pudgy, soft, and clammy hand gripped my wrist. It was so soft, like a baby's hand that had been enlarged. I’d never felt someone's hand before or since that was so fleshy and uncalloused. Sometimes, as I fall asleep, I feel that hand gripping my wrist again.
I froze and looked at this monstrous beast that grasped me. His fleshy acne riddle face smirked back at me in the dimness. I heard a groan and creaking metal as Thing1 exited his chair and stood behind me. Fear now engulfed me to my bones. I had been too distracted by the disgusting state of everything to consider Thing2 might have ill intentions. Or maybe I had inhaled enough fumes from cleaning supplies to cloud my judgment.
Thing1 took a step toward us as Thing2 began pulling me towards him. I braced myself, but the floor was slick, and I slid closer to Thing2. I wanted to scream, I wanted to say something, but fear had gripped my throat as hard as Thing2 gripped my arm.
Shirley: TwattWaffle! TwatWaffle! Where the hell are you, girl?
Shirley called from the hallway. Her raspy smoker's voice sounded like an angel's call to me, and her call gave me the strength to finally speak.
OP: Shirley! I’m over here!
Thing1 plopped back into his chair, and Thing2, startled by the sound of another person, loosened his grip enough that I could yank myself free. I picked up my cleaning caddy and ran from the room as Shirley’s head peaked around the door.
Shirley: Come on, lazy girl. We’ve been done for ten minutes already. You’re making us late. I’ve told you; you've got to go faster, girl.
OP: Yes, ma’am, sorry.
Back upstairs, I shakily helped load all our cleaning things back into the van, and we left. A week later, I quit and found better employment. Before that day, I had been rather naive, but I would never allow myself to get into another situation like that again.
I know my story is short and neckbeard-light, but I hope you found some entertainment in it anyway. Reddx, if you read this, thank you! And if you don’t, thank you for the hours of entertainment you’ve given me.

2024.06.07 18:37 Flaky-Ad-4795 One-shot DM outs my character's twist at the earliest possible opportunity

To clarify, it was an honest mistake on the DM's part, and we play together to this day. Our group has an ongoing "main campaign," but every now and then, one of us players in that campaign will DM a one shot or mini campaign to give our perma DM a chance to relax and experience being a player. This was one of those cases, with the premise being a sort of haunted house mystery. My character was a con-artist by trade. They were an arcane trickster rogue who would disguise themselves as a preist/exorcist. They'd turn up one day at a house offering to cleanse a haunting, and when the resident reacts with confusion, they'd falsify some poltergeist shit by using their invisible mage hand. Once they'd convinced the resident that the house was haunted they'd set out some candles, chant some gibberish in celestial, proclaim the place free of spirits and collect a tidy profit in "donations" from the grateful victim.
My plan for the one shot was to play the sage 'expert-in-the-occult' until our first overtly spooky encounter at which point the facade would shatter into a thousand tiny pieces and I was revealed for the fraud I was. Well the plan started off well, when we first entered, I took a moment to "meditate" and "sense the energy" as a part of the act, and seemed to have the party fooled. We carried on into a basement level and there we encountered our first issue. We came face to face with this strange creature I remember looking something like an undead crocodile. Combat began, and with the adrenaline pumping, I reasoned my fraud of a character would probably hold it together enough to take a swing at it with his dagger. I realised my sneak attack would come into play here, but reasoned I could likely disguise the strangely high damage number as simply being the clerics divine strike feature. And that is when she said it, "Remember to add your sneak attack." I turn and look at the DM. Players pipe up, "sneak attack?" "Oh youre a rogue?." I was so damn salty, an encounter away from my big reveal and the rug was snatched from under me. Again, all is forgiven between me and the DM in question, it was just one lapse in judgement, but I felt so wronged at the time, and figured it could be a fun story to tell here.

2024.06.07 18:35 Raydyou Inside Drift might need to let go of A on super tight turns.

I don't know how many of my Innie Brothers need to hear this, but I'm an idiot who only just now realized in tight turns followed by short stretch+ tight turn, or tight turn+ tight turn, the optimal play is probably to let go on a in higher speeds. I've been practicing and didn't realize literally just releasing a will cancel out whatever drift you have without gutting your speed. Also this is important because in Mini Turbo Boost at certain speeds and angles trying to brake won't slow you down enough to stop you from slingshotting yourself. Anyone else got some tech that could be useful for our repositioning hop challenged drivers?

2024.06.07 18:34 SooperPoopyPants Circuit that worked before is no longer working, even after trying 3 different boards

Please for the love of god help me. I've never been so close to smashing my face to bits against a wall. I'm building a pretty typical RGB LED strip lamp, and I tested the code and circuit on an Uno awhile back and it worked flawlessly. I then tried to convert the circuit into an Arduino-on-a-breadboard but could not get it to work.
So today I pick the project back up and now it's magically not even working with the Uno. I also tried a pro mini and a nano and no luck. After booting the intended result is the strip should light up with the first programmed pattern and the button changes the animation. It's such a stupid simple circuit I know I'm missing something that should be ridiculously obvious but I just can't find it.
Here's a photo of the circuit, and the code will be at the bottom of the post. It's being powered with a 5v 10a (I know, ridiculous overkill it's just the last one I tried after testing a few to rule it out as the issue) power supply and the strip is getting its power directly from that and not from the Arduino. After booting the observed behavior is the strip will light up (or sometimes not light up at all, although 5v is being supplied to the strip) a single static color and the button does absolutely nothing.
I just can't understand what in the everloving hell I'm missing. And what makes it worse is I'm dealing with "used" LED strip and I know some of the LEDs are bad, so I'm trying to find and remove the dead ones on top of it all. Code below, any help would be greatly appreciated.
#include  #include  #include  #include  #define LED_PIN 12 // Data pin to connect to the strip. #define NUM_LEDS 14 // Number of LED's. #define BRIGHTNESS 250 // maximum brightness (250 on 28LEDs = 560mA max current) #define LED_TYPE WS2812 // Using APA102, WS2812, WS2801. #define COLOR_ORDER GRB // It's GRB for WS2812 and BGR for APA102. #define UPDATES_PER_SECOND 100 struct CRGB leds[NUM_LEDS]; 2024.06.07 18:28 Maleficent_Top_9758 Indirect communication from my PI

(this is my POV as an autistic person who just finished his third year in a PhD program)
I planned to submit an abstract for ASHG conference and told my PI about it a few weeks ago. I had my abstract draft ready and sent it to him over two weeks ago. He read the message and never responded, and that’s fine I’m not expecting a feedback same week. I just hate being rushed to do things right before the deadline or showing that I didn't do what's required of me.
The submission deadline was supposed to be on June 5th, and he met with me on June 3rd around 4:30 (he's also not in lab from June 4th till next week). I didn't really understand what his feedback is or what he's saying. He said a lot of random things like "I don't want to submit an abstract that is embarrassing for the presenting author or me" and "where's the genetics in it". The project has a genetics component in it as it uses deep learning to predict gene expression and provide drug response in a brain. I'm just surprised that he seems like he doesn't want to submit it or see it as embarrassing? this same project has been presented in two separate poster sessions last year, and he never complained or said anything about it not being of a good quality! these two sessions were a mini-symposium that he leads and a program retreat.
Anyways, he asked me to send him the file path for my data as he wanted to run it through his NN model and provide "better" results. I sent him the path early on Wednesday and he responded around 9:30 PM on Thursday saying he can't open the file (I just sent him a screenshot of me reading the file in R session and it works completely fine). Anyways, he opened my abstract at 8AM this morning (Friday) and left a lot of comments that are all "Why?", and "Was this demonstrated?". I saw these comments as I was randomly checking the document and he didn't send me any message to say he left comments. I understand that there's a possibility of me not being clear in my abstract writing, but some of these comments really seemed stupid cuz I have the answers for the "Why?" in the same exact sentence!! He left all of these "Why?" comments and didn't say a thing. I responded to all of these comments and re-wrote the whole abstract within two hours from his comments, and sent it back to him. He still didn't respond, but I feel like he doesn't want me to submit. He just doesn't say it directly?! and I want him to say him it directly cuz I hate his indirect communication.
It's not just specific to this abstract submission, but he always gives indirect responses and I'm the one who end up being anxious and not able to understand what he means. Also, my PI is completely off-hands and we do computational work.
Have anyone been dealing with a PI behaving similar to this? how did you survive? I thought of quitting a year ago because of his mentorship style and indirect communication and I got several job offers but decided to suck it up and stay with him. I thought I was able to handle all of these issues with him for the past 8 months, but he's just unaware of all the shit he's doing.

2024.06.07 18:27 ImInTheSkye Using an external camera for A1/Mini time lapses?

Hey all!
I'm looking to get decent quality time lapses of prints from either my A1 or my A1M. I'm aware there is a time lapse feature built into the A1 however the camera is not great.
I have seen several videos on YouTube where individuals will mount a Bluetooth remote to the purge wiper so that when the printer head slides to the left, it hits the remote photo button for each layer.
I'm aware that I could just stick the camera on a tripod in front of the printer and press record but that kind of lacks creativity.
This video creates the effect I was hoping to achieve However it looks like they took a more complicated approach.
So - my question to you is: Do you record a time lapse with an external camera, what does it look like, and how did you accomplish it?
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Edit: I'm looking to avoid having to buy a DSLR for something like this - but I could find a used decent GoPro to mount.

2024.06.07 18:26 Sawyer4815 Streaming with different resolution

Hi I'm about to build a gaming PC and I will use it with a 1440p monitor, I would also like to play in another room with a 1080p TV using a mini PC connected to it and the two PCs would be connected to the same LAN network. If I understood how this works I would have moonlight running in my main PC as a server and sunshine or gamestream in the mini PC as a client. Now, since the TV that I'm streaming to has a different resolution than the main monitor, is there a way to switch it automatically when I start the stream?
Thanks for your help!

2024.06.07 18:26 t0rmer Silent RT-100 Review

Silent RT-100 Review
The Epomaker RT100 Mini Review
Just to set out my stall here, I am a big tech fan and love "budget" boards….I enjoy tinkering and while I may eventually splash out on a more premium end game board for now everything I use is in the $60-$!20 sort of bracket.
This keyboard is defiantly going for a retro aesthetic reminiscent of the early 90s but it has the modern world well catered for to. It's a hot swappable, 3 mode mechanical keyboard that offers a nod to nostalgia while providing the functionality and performance expected in 2024.
I decided I need to get a silent board to go alongside my ever growing collection of thockking, popping, marbly boards as my family was getting a bit annoyed with the noise. So I went for Sea Salt Silent switches, which provide a typing experience that is both satisfying and quiet. This makes it an excellent choice for environments where noise levels need to be minimised (in my case, at night when I am gaming). The switches are smooth, responsive, and provide a comfortable solid feel.
The modern gasket mount construction is present but the performance is just OK there, probably due to the layers of dampening foam in the board but the overall typing experience is very nice. The 2 stage flippy feet are very welcomed as it is still a big bugbear of mine that most premium aluminium boards do not offer this!
The keycaps are thick PBT and a have an MDA profile which is a little high for my liking as I prefer classic Cherry keys in general but I know some will certainly appreciate the large crisp legends. I can't help but feel it would have been aesthetically cleaner if the alphas had been in white and the modifiers in green rather than the other way around, but as with everything in the world of keyboards it is all about preference, many would probably prefer the grey or beige models.
The board is all plastic but has a solid build that reminds me of the peripherals from the 90s, yet it remains compact, it is only 2cm bigger than my TKL board. It has a 95% form factor, it manages to fit 97 keys without making them feel cramped. This is a well received layout considering the trend towards 60-75% keyboards.
Connectivity is versatile, with the RT100 offering USB-C/Bluetooth 5.0/ 2.4G wireless to suit different requirements. I use the keyboard wired on the desk with my PC and on Bluetooth with my work MacBook Pro.
It has south facing RGB LEDs with a plethora of options if that is your thing and the large RGB knob is pleasantly tactile. Another great feature is the optional mini display that allows you to personalise the keyboard with gifs which I promptly did! It also displays info from the PC and local weather information.
While the software and screen may have some room for improvement, the RT100 offers a good transition to mechanical keyboards. It has everything I need and I was impressed by the silent switches, there was a small amount of spring ping but overall quiet and smooth, my family certainly seem to appreciate them!
Now if only it came in aluminium….. I hope you enjoy the pics and unboxing.
Unboxing and Silent Sound Test...

2024.06.07 18:22 WeatherEmperor GMKTec with ryzen 9 7940HS or Ultra 5 125h?

As the title suggests, I'd like hear to a suggestion.
I am planning on getting a PC this summer, since I do kinda need a new machine. My current laptop with Debian 12 on it is surviving on its last straws. Anything more demanding than 2 hours of TF2 is going to burn it down.
I was looking at building a mid-range machine from used parts with at least 16 gigs of RAM, preferably 32 with AM5 platform for more options in the future. But the idea of getting a minipc kinda sparked a new idea in me. I realized, that I do not need a machine for gaming, at very least not something demanding. I am getting in Software Testing lessons, so that is also a consideration. Document editing, because of university. I was also interested in re-igniting my hobby with graphic design and start a new one with content editing and/or making.
And, to be honest. I am very fixated on aesthetic part of minipc. Just looks nice and small, yet powerful.
Currently I am looking at mini machines from GMKTec. Both specked out at 32 gigs 1TB SSD kind of fit my budget. After all I am planning on upgrading my monitor too from Samsung SyncMaster B2340 to something more nice, so I do need at least some change left.
In plus, I will not be running Windows OS. I will be most likely going with Mint Xfce, since I am not proficient enough to be like Titus and use DWM.
EDIT: Any other brand recommendation will be met with welcoming hands. But I will be buying from Aliexpress, if the website does not ship to my country.

2024.06.07 18:21 saucity What are your hilarious nicknames for your terrible neighbors?

I have 3 sets of neighbors that are all pretty awful. If you don’t laugh about this shit, you’ll be constantly stressed, so, funny nicknames it is.
My teen is pretty brutal and hilarious, and I credit him with most of these:
If you’d told me it was a skit or a prank, I’d believe it, because it was so over the top ridiculous - but it’s unfortunately not. They drew a crowd and everything. I’d burn my fuckin house down and move out of shame, if I screamed at my partner at the top of my lungs in the street about all our problems. But porn addiction…. Yikes.
He’s also ‘horse fucker’ because (you can’t make this shit up) he’s been stopping cars, offering women ‘free horse lessons’ in exchange for sex with him. BLEHHH! they’re his wife’s horses too!
My mom calls them ‘The Bumpasses’, after ‘A Christmas Story’, because of their howling hounds that decimate my trash when they constantly escape the flimsy screen door keeping them in. They’ve made it into my house as well, over the years, trying to chase my kitties.
It caught me off guard (for many reasons) because I thought she was probably in some kind of trouble and needed help, but… Nope! Just a Meth Fueled Witch Check. I said “yes! But I’m a good witch!” Because, what the hell else do you say? That seemed to be an acceptable answer to her, thankfully. She’s gone now, hopefully getting some help.
Would love to hear y’all’s bad neighbor nicknames. We all need an occasional laugh over the absurdity of these people, and the immense stress in dealing with them.

2024.06.07 18:15 lilium_major Anyone running logic on a mac with 8GB ram?

I’ve been using Logic for about 6 years now, and I’ve ran it on a Mac Mini from 2014, which is basically unusable now. I’m about to buy a MacBook but since I’m a university student I’m trying to find the most cost friendly option, while still getting a computer that will fit all my needs. I’ve heard a lot of people say that 16GB ram is ideal for running Logic if you use a lot of plug-ins or VSTs. Personally, I’m not using any right now… I’m training to be a music director for musical theatre and a classical/contemporary composer, so I don’t need a lot of fancy synths. I have worked on a lot of pop/synth projects, but my school does have a recording booth with a really high-tech mac set-up, and that’s good enough for my needs in that department.
I’m also going to be frequently using MainStage and MuseScore. I have a 1TB hard drive as well. Do you think I can get by on a macbook with just 8GB ram, or is the 16 definitely necessary? TIA!

2024.06.07 18:14 Far-Barber8941 Prismatic Titan Build Hazardous Propulsion

Build Thoughts
I have run this build in multiple different modes. I have run it in onslaught, nightfalls, world activities, etc. It has been REALLY fun, however, there are a few things that are currently missing from my build. The main thing is the flow. I don't know exactly what I should be doing first, but I have an idea. Something else is getting a prismatic build to work with Hazardous Propulsion is HARD. I essentially created a build that will work without the exotic chest piece. Nevertheless, there are great benefits that come with using Hazardous Propulsion.
The Build (I will explain how everything works together later and provide a DIM link)

Pretty much any weapon you want. However, I would suggest one that can easily hit crits. (I personally have been using Calus Mini-tool)
Heavy
Solar rocket launcher. (I like apex)

Link: https://dim.gg/n357j2q/Equipped

How it works
So, I will go through what I do to start the “process”. There are two things you can do that will have different results. 1) Using your class ability. 2) Using your “melee”.

1) When you use your class ability you are going to suspend targets and, depending on how many rockets you have from the chest piece, do significant damage, to them and get a tangle. I would LOVE to use thruster as my class ability, however, I won’t get a tangle if I kill them with the rockets. When using a barricade, however, there is a SURE hit of the suspend effect, if that makes sense. Once you get the tangle, you can shoot it with your stand weapon to make a huge explosion. (As specified by threaded blast.) Additionally! When using the rockets provided by the exotic, you will get a dmg buff to all forms of rockets. This means your sidearm (The Call) will get a dmg buff, and so will your rocket launcher.

2) Next up is your “melee”. You will start with the shield throw, which, provided you kill the target, can easily be used to get half a bonus shield, amplification, knockout, and health. Additionally, you will get an orb of power, which will get you a few buffs and a little energy. You will get MORE bonus shields, radiant, armor charge, instant health regeneration, class ability energy, and melee energy. (If you are using a rocket with explosive light… 😉) You can continue to get melee kills, thanks to knockout, that will refresh these buffs and get you more orbs.

With the buffs from the melee, you will be granted insane dmg resistance, an increase in damage for your solar rocket launcher, and faster regeneration for your class ability. (Class ability regeneration is from the melee kills, orbs of power, and the facet of hope.)

Now, understanding how everything works, we can talk about what to do. If you are fighting ads, then… class ability –? x (melee – headshots – melee – headshots) – class ability. If you are fighting a boss, melee – class ability – rockets – then however you want to do it. (I haven’t tested enough in this area)

It’s still new to me, but I want to share it. There are multiple ways you can run this build, but this is what I have been doing.

Other exotics to use?
As said earlier, you can run this build with other exotics. Khepri’s Horn is an interesting exotic that would work great! Someone should give it a try…

PS: Sorry for this unorganized post. I was a bit tired… but I hope I got the point though. : )

2024.06.07 18:13 MadQueen_1 Girl fell off horse and they put the helmet back on the self?

Today at our riding lesson, one of the horses spooked and the girl riding him fell off and hit her head. She was actually unconscious for a few seconds. She had her boyfriend come and take her to the hospital after the fall. The instructor took her helmet and put it back on the shelf after the lesson?! Is that okay considering that the fall was bad and that helmet is going to be used by other riders, just like it's been used for so far?
(The barn offers riding helmets for beginners if they don't have one.)

2024.06.07 18:09 hemanse Viper mini wireless mod

Viper mini wireless mod
My first try at a little mod. I had a Viper mini that i did not really use anymore + a g305 with double clicking rmb and lmb
3d printed the base, dpi button extension and battery holder. Desoldered and resoldered new switchesand but things together
I will probably do a better base when i get my a1 mini next week and a rechargeable battery needs to be installed
Works quite nice, all buttons are still able to be used, but needs some tweaks to feel better
