Last night, my friend was working late and asked if I could help her with a big favor. She said she wouldn't have time to do her grocery shopping and asked me to do it. I agree and she sends me a list. While at the grocery store, she sends me a photo of a black shirt and ask if I can stop by our local Target to buy it for her. She doesn't give me much more detail such as name brand or size.
"What size do you need? Do you want a particular brand?" I text.
"Medium." she says a few minutes later.
"Ok but what brand?" She doesn't respond. I finish the grocery shopping and head to Target. I try finding this shirt in the sea of women's clothing but can't find anything that looks exactly like the one she sent me. I ask an employee if they recognize it and they can't. I find 3 shirts that looks like it and text pictures of them to her.
"Are any of these good?" I ask.
"They don't have the one I sent you?" she replies a minute later.
"Well what brand is it? Maybe I can find it better if I can narrow down the brand name."
"I sent you a picture already."
"Yeah but I can't see the tag on the shirt."
"I don't have time for all your questions right now. I'm at work right now and you keep bugging me about this shirt."
"You asked me for help but didn't give me all the proper information. Rather than buy something you don't want, I'd rather show you what they have and what your opinions are. I'm not texting you to annoy you, I have honest questions and your directions are unclear."
"Just forget it. I'll do it myself later or you'll fuck it up."
"You asked for my help. I already helped you by getting groceries for you. How am I causing issues now?"
"Cause you don't agree to help someone then start giving them shit for it."
I decide not to respond to her after that. I leave Target and drop off her groceries at her house (her roommate let me in) and go home.
Two hours later, she texts me one of the photos I sent her.
"I won't have time to go tonight. Can you buy this shirt for me instead and bring it to my house? I'll pay for you for everything then." She texted.
"After the way you talked to me, you think I'm willing to help you again? Do it yourself." I reply.
She doesn't reply for a few hours. Just before bed, she finally answers.
"Thanks for getting groceries but too bad I won't have time to prep meals now cause I had to run to Target after a long day at work to get a shirt that you didn't want to help get for me." she texted.
I go on to tell her that this isn't my fault and I won't feel bad for not helping her. I politely ask her to send me $80 for the groceries from earlier and she says she will after I apologize for my attitude. I haven't responded since. Am I wrong for agreeing to help, then arguing?

This was a really fun movie. I took a group of kids ranging in age to see this one, figuring I'd either be the worst, or perhaps the coolest parent ever. I think it was largely the latter as thankfully I wasn't the only "really cool" parent on the scene. Approximately 3 minutes into the film Kong rips a lizard-wolf in half, and green blood splashes all over his head. Immediately one of the kids exclaims, "This is too much for me!" Fair enough. And so they stepped out with their parent. The rest of the kids were glued though, and by the end of the film, one of them even commented "this is the best movie since Star Wars!"
It's hard to argue with the joy of a child. This movie has so much going for it in that way. Large monsters, epic battles, large scale set pieces and a story that didn't get in the way of the action.
There is some story here as well, and it's not that bad, albeit it's somewhat simplistic. It tells a relateable story, particularly for kids, about a young girl's struggle to fit in with society, a young girl grappling with her identity. This is mirrored by Kong as well. Not finding his new home in hollow Earth very hospitable. His new roommates really suck and they like getting into fights all the time. Plus he has a really bad tooth ache and then there is this really mean monkey dude that likes to treat others like slaves, and well... he really sucks.
It's a good thing Kong has his human friends and coincidentally a souped up super lizard at his side. (And maybe there are some other surprises as well, but I'll leave that for you to find.)
Anyways this super team of sorts is a ton of fun to watch in the numerous battles that take place throughout the film and remain exhilarating from start to finish.
Plus Godzilla happens to look positively adorable in this film when they decide to nap in their new found bed. This made me laugh.
Anyways, as I said before, the kids that made it through seemed to love the film. I did too.
This may be my favorite Legendary monster-verse film yet. Anyways, not bad Legendary, not bad.

2024.05.14 21:49 XploD5 Best screen protector for Venu 3 (and Venu 2S)

I managed to scratch my Venu 3 after 3 weeks of usage, the screen is totally exposed and very sensitive. Now I'm looking for a protector to avoid further damage and to try to hide existing damage. Any recommendation? Should I go for glass or film? I do know that glass protectors do make smaller scratches invisible after applying (I did that on my phone), not sure for films. I also need one for my GF for Venu 2S.
Needs:

it must be as much invisible as possible (clear and precise cut, 100% coverage, not too thick)
it shouldn't affect touch screen in any way
it should hide existing scratces as much as possible
if possible, should be availble in EU for ordering, I don't want to wait for a month

Price is not a question.
For example, on my phone I have Spigen glass and it's perfect (it checks all the above mentioned boxes) so I need the same for my watch.

Genshin Impact is a great game. It attempts to do a lot, and much of what it attempts, it does very well. Its high quality has essentially made it the new gold standard of both gacha and open world rpgs. And speaking personally, it's easily one of my favorite games that I've ever played. I wouldn't spend my time playing it (or making a sub about it) if it wasn't.
But that doesn't mean it's perfect. It get's a lot of things wrong, and some things it gets irredeemably wrong. But I've noticed a trend that when trying to bring up some of its deficits on other subs, you basically get booed off the stage and downvoted into oblivion. To me, that doesn't make sense. We should be able to discuss the areas where Genshin needs improvement. The only one who benefits from pretending they don't exist is Hoyoverse. And I can't see a logical reason to spend time and energy in a concerted effort to sweep real problems under the rug for a multi-million dollar company that will likely never even see these threads.
Loving Genshin is all well and good. I'd even say that I love Genshin myself! But loving something doesn't mean plugging our ears whenever something unpleasant happens. And it certainly shouldn't mean harassing anyone just for bringing those topics up. That tends to limit critical thinking and creates a very cult-like mindset where anyone who disagrees with your fav is automatically wrong. And bro, that's unhealthy lmao
That's where Genshin_Critique comes in! My goal is for this to be a safer space to voice those opinions, to share the issues you're seeing, to not have to worry about a flood of notifications with people telling you you're stupid for daring to say Genshin could've done something better.
That isn't to say that this is just a free-for-all to indiscriminately trash everything about Genshin or the fandom. (please see the rules) But rather, this is a place to speak and be heard, to be held by others who also love Genshin but who want to see it improve. Genshin doesn't exist in a bubble. It's made by people who make mistakes and have biases and who have incorporated various forms of bigotry into the game. That affects people in ways we may not have even considered before. It can be really sad and demoralizing to see these things in Teyvat. And the response irl can be even worse bc there isn't really a place to talk about these things communally. Those that do exist are often like kicking a hornets' nest. (not always, there are wonderful facets of the fandom as well!)
But if you're tired of being silenced or told you're overreacting, weary of the ways the mainstream Genshin fandom is moving, and want to be among others who are willing to think about things a little deeper, this sub is for you.

But there must be order amidst chaos, and punishers amidst the punished.. enter the demons.
Despite the mortal myths and claims, demons have held little malice towards any soul walking on the rights paths- even those stained by misdeeds worthy of purgatory have their respect and goodwill. Deals with demons never dragged souls to the pits of hell, rather the cities and fields.. as demons themselves. Bound by strict order and a fair society, demonhood is a surprisingly gentle existence. Some hold normal mortal jobs, some are specialized to the climates of hell, and others punish the damned as they rightfully should. Yet by the end of the day, just like you and I, they head home and sleep in their own beds. They have their own lives, and participate in a society, following the rules of their Queen.
A Queen who, until recently, has been alone for eons. A great and powerful soul above the 9 rings and the common class, she had been a good and kind ruler ever since the heavens gifted her the title. But all grow lonely eventually.. and eventually, word began to spread that another royal was in the grand palaces. [Good evening, morning, or afternoon! I'm looking for a roleplay that I admit is focused almost solely on sweetness and warmth. I quite like contrasting themes, and the thought of a little princeling being brought up as a good child in the midst of hell is.. tempting. I adore the image of a terrifying daemon queen and her tiny, sweet son, and that was really the main inspiration.
To put things simply, I'm looking for a slice of life roleplay focusing on both mother and son being sweet and kind. A little drama here and there, yes, and some intrigue, but nothing too much. There could be some deeper drama stirring beneath the surface, too.. demons still have criminals, after all, political unrest can still happen; and no one else but the Queen knows who sired her heir.. so there's plenty of potential here.

So I usually try cut my yard around every 2ish weeks. I’ll be the first to admit the yard got a little crazy in the back but the front wasn’t too bad. Not the worst yard on the street. Thing is, it rained a good bit and the weeds in the backyard got a little crazy. I have a mostly fenced in backyard with the exception of a gate that I’ve been scheduling with my dad to work on that project together this summer. My neighbors backyards are all fenced in as well. Each time I had planned to cut it myself last week it would rain. I then had to go out of town for Mother’s Day weekend. We do not have a HOA, no fees, or anything. These neighbors aren’t super friendly and mostly keep to themselves. We haven’t had much of a conversation in the couple of years I’ve lived here.
I came back home Sunday night thinking I can cut it as the weather was nice and I had time. Saw my neighbor had just cut his too so I felt it would be good to sync our cuts around the same time. So our yards would be lined up nicely! However, the neighbors had a Mother’s Day party in their backyard that night. So I felt that it was best not to run the lawnmower as it would disturb their party. I did quiet yard work instead. They did not see me, I don’t think. So they don’t know all of this planning I had.
I decided I’d cut it within the next few days as I had the time. I left my house last night at 5:20. I saw the neighbors outside on their porch like usual as I was leaving. I came back by 7:30 to a fully fresh cut yard…a little confused as I initially thought it was a mistake by a yard service. It was a good job but you could tell it was not professionally done as it was a little messy with tractor marks. My neighbors have a tractor. I knew they were home so I thought they’d know what had happened. So I decided to send them a text saying hey hate to bother you guys. Hope y’all are well. I was planning to cut the yard this week but was surprised to see it cut. I was wondering if you had seen anyone out here?
They replied that they did it because their toddler likes to ride the tractor with the dad and they wanted to do something nice. Hoped I didn’t mind.
Now just to reiterate, I’ll be the first to admit the yard needed to be done. There’s no denying that but I was going to do it. I’m not gonna lie, I wasn’t sure how I felt since it was a nice gesture but they didn’t ask me first. I wouldn’t alter someone else’s property without asking if they wanted the help first because I don’t think it’s the right thing to do. Plus it’s sorta trespassing to me. What if they had gotten hurt or something on my yard.
I ended up responding by saying “I appreciate the gesture and was going to take care of it. I know you meant well. In the future, I would appreciate if you ask me first.” I really just didn’t want them thinking they could do whatever they wanted to my house and I probably would’ve paid him if he had asked me first. Maybe it was an asshole response on my part but I was a bit annoyed by the situation.
They replied this morning and apologize for not asking first. I felt bad at that point because of my response. Seriously I’m very appreciative of a free yard cut.
I thanked them again and complimented them on their yard. Said to feel free to reach out if you ever need anything. We traded a few more texts and I think we’re good now. I’m appreciative of the help but I feel bad/awkward for looking like I’m not responsible for my house. Plus I didn’t like that they did it without asking….
Sigh….Here we go.

I (29m) recently started dating (not exclusive, not boyfriend / girlfriend, just getting to know each other) a new woman (33f) after leaving a long term relationship (over 10 years) with an ex (28f). I haven’t really dated before (I was asked out by my ex early on in high school and never dated before) so dating is new to me. When meeting new people I avoid over sharing information about my past romantic history early on unless asked very specifically about it. For example, I will share information about my past history like when we broke up, why we broke up, what I learned, and on but I’ll avoid more details about how involved we were together (e.g. living situation, traumatic events, etc) or particularly difficult topics for me until I get to know the person more.
I’ve started slowly dating one woman. On date two (about a month ago) she casually brought up pets and asked about my experience with animals (would you ever want a pet, have you taken care of a dog before, etc). I talked about my experience with pets early on in my childhood but did not discuss the dog that my ex bought for emotional support (despite my objections) and that I helped care for in the last two years of our relationship. I avoided this topic because my ex and I got into a particularly nasty argument splitting up property (I had expected her to not fight me over certain sentimental items in exchange for me not trying to fight for her dog, which didn’t go as expected) a week before the second date. I knew that if I brought up my ex’s dog I would probably get upset and I didn’t want to trauma dump or throw things off on our date, so I didn’t mention it.
We’re going on date four later this week. Last week we talked about deeper relationship questions. She talked about how she really values transparency, being direct and avoiding white lies with a partner which are things I value too. I was remembering the pet discussion last night and this morning I now feel conflicted - maybe even ashamed - of avoiding talking about the dog before. I wasn’t trying to misrepresent who I am to her, just avoiding a sensitive topic early on, but I feel like in doing so I may have misrepresented myself and I feel bad about that because it doesn’t align with my values (even though this wasn’t a white lie). I don’t really know how to handle under sharing vs lying by omission though. It seems like a gray line unless you always default to over sharing.
So my questions here: 1. Would you characterize my actions as lying by omission or undersharing? 2. How do you recommend tackling lying by omission vs under sharing in the future? How do you draw the line? 3. How can I go about making things right here? I want to tell her eventually, but I’m not sure about the best way to bring this up.

2024.05.14 21:47 xsater SMGs are in a weird place right now

Everything below is my personal opinion. Feel free to disagree/provide counter-arguments.
With the release of the latest warbond we got a decent SMG. However after taking it for a test-drive, I found that it's still way too weak to even attempt to replace my current main primaries (bugs: breaker incendiary, bots: scorchedominator). Difficulty 7-9 on both. Playstyle: solo/duo/full group.
This got me thinking - all SMGs in this game do not have much to offer.
Pros:

ballistic shield: only useful against pew-pew bots. Smaller enemies are not a real threat and I can easily take them out with my current primaries. Heavy devastators: in order to kill them with SMG (even with stagger) you have to hit him in the head. You are only able to do this reliably if you're fighting close range (otherwise you waste too much ammo on a single devastator), which IMO is not optimal, when playing against bots. Overall I think that shield generator is a superior pick; it can self-regen, protects against any type of attack, can be used with any primary/secondary/support weapon/stratagem.
stagger stalkers: good point, but as soon as you destroy the nests, they are gone for good. And you still have other enemies: hunters, spewers, medium armored bugs. All these require more firepoweDPS to kill quick enough before you get stuck in a spawn-loop. I don't think that stun-locking charger is a "plus". I'd rather one tap them in a head with an anti-tank support weapon.
carry suitcase: I mean, yeah, but only for 1 mission type. Just use pistol. If shit hits the fan - you will have to drop the case anyways in order to use stratagems/support weapons.

So, I think they need something more, for example:

you are able to run and gun and move faster when comparing to other primaries. Maybe even sprint and shoot? Light armor + stamina booster + SMG = I shoot and outrun all the enemies.
zero recoil/laser accuracy. SMGs use smaller rounds, makes sense if it handles better.

I just don't feel like using the gun for the sake of just using it. I prefer weapons that are efficient, reliable, can kill multiple enemy types and as a result enable me to have highest possible success rate with minimal amount of suffering.

[20f] i’ve been diagnosed with PCOS & suspected endometriosis. i’ve been in & out of obgyns this past year trying to figure out what it is that’s wrong because i have severe pelvic pain & after intercourse pain. irregular bleeding. i have ovarian cysts & apparently one had ruptured causing terrible pain & they just said my body would absorb the fluid, that’s all it’s not that big of a deal apparently. it’s been really terrible. i believe that they see that i have generalized anxiety and they think i’m paranoid, i know i’m not.
i am on a birth control called simpesse so i get my period every 3 months. it’s a hormonal birth control pill. i decided to skip my period two weeks ago because i had plans & i’ve done it before, i’ve never had any problems with skipping my period. although this time i started spotting during placebo week but i was taking my new set of pills week 1. it was until last week thursday where i started to bleed & it was a heavy flow. i normally don’t bleed as much during my period, like at all so this is weird to me. on saturday my cramps were so severe that i started crying because it would wrap around my lower back & my lower abdomen. all of sudden the most horrifying thing came out of me which is called a decidual cast. the pain i felt before it exited my body was the worst pain i’ve ever experienced in my life, i can’t describe it. i decided to go to the er sunday night because even after i was bleeding a lot. er couldn’t help me unfortunately & all they did for me was an ultrasound telling me that everything looks fine besides for my ovarian cysts. my doctor was a gynecologist at a different hospital before she transferred to the er as a resident so she did tell me that the symptoms that i explained to her are definitely endometriosis. i scheduled a pelvic mri but it’s not till june 6th & i believe i can’t wait that long because i’m still bleeding heavily. everytime i use the bathroom it’s just a toilet filled with blood. my cramps are still terrible that i cried in the shower yesterday because I don’t know what to do. please. i don’t think they’re taking me seriously and i’m scared because this is my health at risk. does anyone have any advice?

Maybe fifteen years ago during an illness, I went on a binge of surreal and glamorous movies made in Europe in the 60s, just watching like four, five movies a day for days on end, and for years now keep trying to remember which one had this scene. I can really only recall that there was this great long slow shot of I believe a man and a woman in a car, maybe a convertible, on like a one-lane road in the countryside, stuck in a long line of cars not going anywhere. I keep feeling like it might have been either Fellini or Godard but plot descriptions are not helping me since I can't remember the plot at all.

During my two-week streak of no contact, I've noticed some progress. Although I still find myself thinking about him and his new relationship, my emotions are gradually becoming less raw. My appetite is improving, and I've managed to resist the urge to obsessively check his social media profiles. While I still struggle with feelings of jealousy and self-doubt, I'm actively engaging in activities to help me move forward. However, I continue to grapple with the reality of his quick rebound and the fear of missing out events in his life.
He still infests my dreams and occupies my thoughts during the day despite minding my own biscuits. I often find myself rehearsing hypothetical conversations with him, preparing to dismiss him if he attempts to reconnect. It's challenging to let go of the thought that he might be the best I could ever have and to have faith that someone else will appreciate me. Watching "500 Days of Summer" has shed light on my codependent tendencie during the relationship.
One more thing that helped my emotions become less intense is when the girlfriend of his friend reached out to my mom and told her that him leaving me is a “blessing in disguise” because he’s borrowed money from her and his other friends to fund his gambling addiction and never returned the money. She said that I dodged a bullet and shouldn’t be so disappointed that he’s not in my life anymore. I guess I realized that it is THAT BAD when the people who used to root for us are no longer.

howdy yall, im not super new to Fallout as a franchise, but ive only really played fo4. I played fo76 for a few months maybe a year or two after it came out on my ps4, but recently watching the show I really wanted to try it out. I got fo76 through a game pass, so ive been playing a bit on PC, but im real rusty. second night playing & setting up a sad camp a guy around level 150 came up & had me add him, & added some really useful stuff to my camp! generator that makes 100 power, a handful of water purifiers, a mutated goldfish(love that thing, looks so cool!) & some other cool stuff, generally was a great dude. I don't have a mic & I was dead tired after a 12 hour shift, so I just kept spamming the heart emote 😅 im pleasantly surprised, because this seems to be common in the community! hope mans knows I deeply appreciate it, & I hope I can pay it forward for someone in the future!

So this might get long and I apologize if it does but I need to vent and any advice. This is a throwaway because I’m not 100% the parents don’t use Reddit.
I started working for a “friend” in the fall watching their new baby. At first they had some strange rules but I just chalked it up to being first time parents. Like they wouldn’t let anyone see the baby after it was born, I didn’t meet the baby until they were almost 3 months old. But it got weirder from there. They refused to let the baby cry so the baby was allowed to do anything. No tummy time except two times I tried because the baby would cry. Fine not my kid so no tummy time. Nap time was a struggle. Both parents slept in the bed with the baby. That’s their choice, I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing that with a newborn but again not my baby. For nap time I requested a bassinet at first since they had two. Of course the mother, who was still on maternity leave, said the baby wouldn’t sleep in the bassinet. I explained that it’s not instant for some babies and they had to keep trying. I even suggested putting a heating pad in the bassinet before they put the baby down so it was warm.
They fought me and told me the bassinet was not working even though I had successfully put the baby in the bassinet during the day when it was just the two of us. Fine no bassinet, where can the baby nap? The mother informed me that they let the baby sleep in its bouncer or a swing. This made me very uncomfortable because of positional asphyxiation. I raised my concerns and was just brushed off because the parents did it when I wasn’t around so it was fine. They purchased a crib but never use it. I warned them the dangers of letting a small child sleep in a full sized bed with blankets especially when the baby starts to sit up and grab things. I was still ignored.
When the baby started sitting up and dragging themself across the bed, I again mentioned the crib but they said they’d rather sleep with the baby. I tried to use the crib for nap time but they would constantly use it for storage, which is hard to clear when the baby is asleep. Once I cleared it out and got it ready for nap time and the baby slept in it but the mom went behind me and put a blanket on the baby. I told her that babies under one shouldn’t have anything in the crib. Their response was the next day the crib was filled with storage. The baby got older and I asked about solid food and a high chair. Months go by and finally when the baby is 8 months they start solid food but they don’t want to use premade food which is fine and make everything purée. I ask again for the high chair and still they say they will get it on the weekend. I explain the importance of the high chair so the baby can learn to feed itself.
Now the baby is almost one and doesn’t know how to feed itself or what to do when you give it food. The baby hates the high chair and I keep telling the parents how important it is for helping the baby learn to eat, work on their fine motor skills, and safety.
The worst of it all isn’t how unsafe they are with the baby. It’s how they treat me. As I said we were “friends” before I took the job which is why I agreed to do it. They take advantage. They changed my hours without asking me. They just started coming home later and later. They regularly guilt trip me into working weekends. And I get no holidays off. I had to beg for Christmas because my family came to visit but right after I was back to it. I want to quit but the pay is really good and as I said they are friends and are in the same circle. There would be no way to avoid them. Should I just take a hit on the friendship and move on?
