Chapter 1116 didn’t reveal much new information, so I decided to use this opportunity, and the break week, to talk about the increasingly more important character that is Imu, the Supreme Ruler of the World who sits on the Empty Throne. You might be wondering what there is to talk about a character whose appearance we don’t even know, but, after doing some extensive research, I found out there is surprisingly a lot to them. Or rather, a lot that we can infer thanks to their many appearances, and the reveal of their surname - Nerona.

Imu Carries the Name of a Real World Emperor

When creating the many rulers we see throughout the story of One Piece, Oda has more often than not based the Kings, and their Kingdoms, on real life countries. This is probably the most noticeable with the 50 Monarchs that could be seen attending the latest Levely, as they are all pretty much an amalgamation of the stereotypes of the countries they are meant to represent:

• King Ham Burger resembles the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln, and is named after hamburgers (stereotypical American food).
• King Tacos resembles the Mexican revolutionary, Emilio Zapata, and is named after the traditional Mexican food.
• King Tea IV has a hat resembling a Union Jack, his goatee resembles clock hands (Big Ben), and his name is a reference to how prominent tea is in British culture.
• Etc.

But more interestingly are the “First Twenty”; the twenty kingdoms that formed what is now known as The World Government, and the countries that inspired them. So far, we have learned about 3 of them:

First is the Donquixote family, and the Dressrosa Kingdom, which are inspired by the country of Spain; particularly, the autonomous communities of Andalusia and Catalonia. The family name itself comes from the titular character of the Don Quixote novel, one of the best-selling (Spanish) novels of all time.
Then we have the Nefertari family, and the Alabasta Kingdom, which are inspired by the modern day Middle East and Ancient Egypt. The Nefertari name most likely comes from the 14th century Queen of Egypt, Nefertiti, who is believed to have been a “female King”, for a brief period of time (sounds familiar, right?).
And finally, with Nerona Imu, and the Nerona family, they may be inspired by ancient Rome.

The last name “Nerona” might be a reference to Nero’s Torches (Polish: Pochodnie Nerona), a painting by Henryk Siemiradzki, which depicts a group of early Christian martyrs about to be burned alive as the alleged perpetrators of the Great Fire of Rome, during the reign of Emperor Nero. This comparison is particularly interesting because of the relationship between another two Egyptian and Roman rulers, Cleopatra and Caesar.

Book of Genesis

I’ve written about the Biblical influence Oda has been using for his story, especially recently in relation to Imu, Gorōsei, and the “Great Flood”, and when Ivankov speculates about Nerona family and Imu, he uses a book titled “Genesis”.

This is likely a reference to the "Book of Genesis”, the first book of the Hebrew Bible and the Christian Old Testament, which details the creation of the universe. Imu is someone referred to as “Creator” by the Five Elders, which feeds into the idea of Imu being this godlike figure. An interesting thing about the full name of “Nerona Imu” is that, when written in katakana, it can be combined to form the kanji meaning “God” and “Budhha”.

• Nerona = ネロナ = 神 (“kami”) = God
• Imu = イム = 仏 (“hotoke”) = Buddha

When combined, the two Kanji characters (神 and 仏) form 神仏 (“Shinbutsu”), the word that is generally used to refer to the collective notion of all deities.

The first time we see Imu they are surrounded by flowers and trees, in a room that looks like a garden, called the “Room of Flowers”. A famous story from the aforementioned Book of Genesis is the story of Adam and Eve, eating the forbidden fruit (of knowledge of good and evil), and subsequently being banished from the Garden of Eden. Considering the importance fruit (Devil Fruit) and trees (Treasure Tree Adam and Sunlight Tree Eve) have, it's very likely Imu’s story itself has some heavy connection to the origin of Devil Fruits.
One thing I find particularly interesting about Imu comes from their connection to the Gorōsei - the Five Elder Stars. Where every member of the 5 Elder Stars is named after a planet in our system, alongside the 3 ancient weapons, Imu’s name so far has no meaning that connects it to our solar system. However, if we read the name in reverse, it reads “Umi”, the Japanese word for the ocean. This also tracks with another reading of the name Imu: Yamm.
“Chaos Monster and Sun God”
Yamm) comes from the Semitic word for the ‘sea’, and is an Ugaritic God of the Sea that is presented as the candidate for the position of “King of the Gods”. Yamm is consistently depicted as tyrannical, angry, violent and harsh. In the aforementioned Hebrew Bible - the one where the Book of Genesis comes from - Yam also appears and is the enemy of Yahweh, who is (the) God. Additionally, Yam is mentioned in Ancient Egypt as someone feared by the Egyptian seafarers throughout their travels, kind of like how the Pirates “fear” the Navy that is trying to stop them.

The Immortal Imu

The one other tree mentioned in the Garden of Eden, is the Tree of (Eternal) Life), which grants immortality to those who eat from it, and, while not directly stated, it’s beyond heavily implied that Imu is immortal. When talking about them, Ivankov wonders if the Imu that sits on the Empty Throne is perhaps the same Saint Imu who once ruled the Nerona family, 800 years ago, insinuating their immortality.

Furthermore, there has been a long-running theory about the Gorōsei themselves being immortal, and the short flashback to the God Valley seemingly confirms this, with Saturn looking exactly the same ~40 years ago as he does in the present. I know Imu isn’t the same as the Gorōsei, but it would be weird if his servants were immortal while they weren’t. Lastly, Doflamingo’s number one priority before trying to take over the Mary Geoise, and become the ruler of the World, was to make Law use the Ope Ope no Mi to perform the “Perennial Youth Operation” on him, which might very well stem from the fact that the current ruler is immortal.

Reminder that Doflamingo is aware of Imu’s existence as he had insinuated their existence a couple of times, and openly stated he had witnessed the “Treasure of Mary Geoise”.

Imu’s Appearance

While the blob of darkness that is Imu’s silhouette doesn’t tell us much about their appearance, the silhouette we see them assume after Sabo’s attack does.

We see Imu’s round eyes take more of a triangle appearance, and Imu takes a bestial, yet still humanoid, form of what could be described as Dragon. Perhaps this is where the “Celestial Dragon” name comes from, since the names that Oda comes up with can often be quite literal (for example, “Big Mom” is quite literally both a “mom” and “big”, but also figuratively a “big mom” due to the size of her family). Imu chomps on Sabo’s flame, seemingly unbothered by the fire, before we see them come down from the throne, massive in appearance. There are a couple of deities that could tie nicely in what little we see from this appearance, with the prime suspect being Tiamat.

Tiamat is a Babylonian personification of the primordial sea who is generally depicted as a dragon, and, while this is the general depiction, the most frequent depiction of Tiamat is, interestingly, as a woman (with some additional features, such as a tail). I say interestingly because there has been some debate around Imu’s gender, and the likelihood of them being a woman. I know the likelihood of this being the case is pretty low now, since the way the Elders refer to Imu (“Sei”) is the way the male Celestial Dragons are called (female Celestial Dragons are called “Gū”).

Tiamat is often paralleled with Sea Deities from other mythologies, which includes the Jörmungandr - the World Serpent from Nordic Mythology that is so big it encircles the world (like the Red Line does) - and Leviathan - the Sea Serpent from the Hebrew Bible - which represents a Demon that is the personification of Envy.

Nefertari D. Lililth

Imu’s obsession with Lili, and in turn with Vivi, has been so apparent that it has reached the point of ridicule. They literally have a giant picture of, what I assume is, Neferari Lili in the Room of Flowers.

If the twist isn’t that Lili and Imu are the same person, then there is a certain envy that I feel Imu might have toward Lili, and her family/ancestors. When we see Imu in the Room of Flowers, we see them cutting up the pictures/wanted posters of four people:

1. First is Luffy, who we now know is Joyboy, in possession of the Nika fruit.
2. Second is Shirahoshi, who we know is one of the Ancient Weapons (Poseidon).
3. Third is Blackbeard, who we don’t know exactly how he ties into this whole thing, other than to assume it was due to his “special lineage”.

And the last one is Vivi, who we now know was due to her connection to Lili. Besides Lili’s name being interesting because it carries the will of D, there is also the official English translation of it, “Lily”, the flower, while the etymology of the name could be tied to “Lilith”.
“Lady Lilith” by Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1866-1868 1872-1873)
Lilith is a female figure in Mesopotamian and Jewish mythology, theorized to be the first wife of Adam and a primordial she-demon. Lilith is cited as having been "banished" from the Garden of Eden for not complying with and obeying Adam. There is way too much stuff about Lilith, from all kinds of religions, that could be said here, but I think the most important information to mention is her connection to Adam, due to the nature of recent (biblical) developments in the story. With Imu taking this omnipotent God role in the story, Lili being the one to not comply with the rest of the 20 Kings in forming the World Government, does make her similar to Lilith; especially considering she spread the Poneglyphs around the world, and especially if we consider Joyboy as the “Adam” equivalent in the One Piece.

The Many Saints of Mary Geoise

Those who inhabit the “Holy Land” of Mary Geoise - the Celestial Dragons - are all called “Saints”: Saint Charloss, Saint Garling, Saint Saturn, etc. The meaning of the term saint depends on the context and denomination. In doctrines like Catholic and Orthodox Christianity, all of those in Heaven are considered to be saints, but some are considered worthy of greater honor or emulation. What is interesting about this is that Imu isn’t referred to as “Saint Imu” by the Five Elders.

The Imu from Nerona family, mentioned by the Ivankov, is referred to as “Saint Imu”, but the one we see in the present isn’t. This is likely because Imu ascended above the “mere” rank of a saint, once they took the Empty Throne, and became something akin to God (the Creator). Hence, why the name of those who judge even the saints, is “God’s Knights”; they enforce the will of God. There appears to be a hierarchy going around here, with the “Saints”, “God’s Knights” (most likely meant to be the Angels), and the “Creator”.

so I’m really used to the hades 1 style where you can zip around really fast with lots of dodges and fire off quick attacks to wear everything down. after playing hades 2 for a bit, I realize that it’s much different, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to change that.
I’m not a fan of the omega attack mechanic at all. it severely impedes my flow and usually causes more problems than it’s worth. for example, when I’m using the staff, I can get a good flow going with the attack combo, quickly bursting down an enemy and dodging to the next to do the same. but if I forget to stop attacking to reset it, I get stuck briefly in the omega attack, and it causes me to take damage usually or disrupts my flow and makes me mess up. I’ve tried actually using the omega attacks in a few runs, but unless I have a boon/hammer buff to make them charge faster, I basically never see an opportunity to use it without getting injured unless the enemy is just standing in place doing an attack that’s easy to avoid. same goes for the binding cast — I don’t think I’ve ever actually charged it once. the only omega attack I regularly use is the axe’s special because the huge aoe line is super useful.
to be clear, I don’t hate the game for these changes. still having lots of fun. just wondering if there’s any way to make this feel more like the hades 1 playstyle or if I just have to suck it up and adapt.

so, I have a Samsung galaxy s6 lite with the s pen that I had been using for work to draw with the sketchbook app, and recently it died and will not charge, instead the backlite just flashes. I got a surface pro to replace it and went ahead and bit the 25$ that it was to put it on the new device, I was hoping there was some way to login and see my drawings on my account after I bought it... again, but I haven't found anything helpful for if the old device is broken. besides that, I hate the way the laptop software works, there are no gestures anymore, options that were 2 clicks before are much more difficult to figure out most of the toolbars are just in the way, and pulling a single line can be spotty from the lag, as well as just rotating the page, and watching it continue to rotate without me touching the screen, if I have to redraw everything it'll suck, but so be it, but barely being able to operate the new program is driving me nuts, any advice is so so appreciated!!

I really prefer to work with the dynamic draw size off, since I find it much more efficient and intuitive to zoom in and out of the canvas to get bigger and smaller brush strokes. There's a really weird behavior when dynamic is turned off where my brush drastically changes size even though I didn't zoomed in the canvas but I just rotated the model. I found that it happens when I'm working on smallemore clustered parts of the models, such as the ears.

Does anyone knows why this bahavior of the brush happens and how to fix it ?

I need some advice on how to manage a friend situation.
Here's the context: Our kids (ages 2, 3, and 4) get along great. The friend (we'll call her Tina) has had some pretty discouraging health news over the last year, and I can see where that effects mental health as well. I think she's a nice person deep down.
Here's where I need help. I'm trying to decide if I just cut off Tina (and sadly her kid), which is a risky move in a small town, or if I sit her down and explain my side of things.
I can't stand the way she has started treating me and my kids. It all feels very "highschool". Some examples include:
-she'll say things like "oh aren't you glad that I introduced you to rotating toys" Even though I rotated toys literally before her son was born. Or "you guys should come over and we can play a Following Directions game. I'm sure it will help your boys" as if I am not literally getting a degree in child development and education right now with years of prior experience in schools.
-She makes comments about "is this your bi-polar?" And "well, you don't seem bipolar to ME" and "maybe you need to try XYZ herb, and you don't have bipolar at all" all the time. While at the same time accrediting her strange behavior to OCD (which she factually does not have). I have never invited her opinions or suggestions on my mental health.
-the other day we got together with her and a mutual friend in town and all of the kids and Tina asked if we knew it a century egg was. I said Yes and the other lady said no. Immediately she goes "oh OP knows about it because I told her about it". No... Inaccurate. Also, why TF does that matter?!
-That same day she blamed my oldest for pulling out a flower in her yard even though it wasn't him AND She tried to accuse him of peeing in her son's room even though I noticed that the room smelled like pee as soon as we got there and I just assumed that their 3-year-old had an accident (no big deal).

• She will call/text and randomly show up if she finds out there's a playdate going on that she wasn't invited to. Not that she's being specifically excluded, but sometimes different friend groups get together.

The list goes on but these are the highlights that really have me considering just ending the friendship and ghosting her (as much as possible in a small town).
What do you moms think? Is it worth trying to kindly say 'I like you, we adore your son, but I will not tolerate you blaming my son unfairly, questioning my mental health, and assuming I am less-than as a parent and human."

I have read that the people who own major hip-hop labels also own major prisons and they make sure lyrics are approved before release, to benefit the prison industry. Such as music from Juice World, Scorey, Polo G, etc.
What is the truth in this? I understand this is a controversial subject so anything is more-or-less garbled truth mixed with opinion, but I'd like to hear it. What do you have to say on this?
For example, last week an 8-year-old rode his bike past me singing "murder on my mind, murder on my mind, I'm sorry momma, murder on my mind" and I KNEW what song that was from. Similar music in games popular with boys such as Fortnite, Post Malone concert series for Pokemon Go, and given the track record for such musical industry leaders, I personally question the choice to place them in children's games.
That child is a trouble maker in school when I asked my step-mother who happens to be his teacher. His home life is not the best either.
I would say, in response to anyone who says the music does not make the man, sure. They say, a violent video game does not make a child violent. That was the argument against age restrictions for video games when they were forced to start having labels to show appropriate ages.
Anyway, about the music..I think it's all part of a brainwashing effort to make music profit-to-prison, or would you argue against this? Along similar lines? Myth? Been disproven? Please enlighten me so whenever I repeat this in another conversation I get the facts right. :)

I know a fair number of (farther left) people who think this way. They point to issues such as minimum wage increases, abortion bans, student loan forgiveness, legal cannabis etc and say "Biden allowed Republicans to stop him on these issues because he never actually wanted to accomplish them and lied to us to get votes." In the case of abortion bans, I've had people tell me that Biden let the bans go into effect in order to trick people into voting for Democrats who really don't want to actually reverse it but needed to create a popular problem to run on. Similarly they will say that he talks a lot about corporate greed as a campaign pitch, but he has the ability to fix all of that right now and chooses not to.
Some of the arguments I get are that these issues are all popular with the public so it's his messaging failure to use the 'bully pulpit' in order to threaten Congress with being voted out to force them to pass obviously popular policies, or that there's no actual enforcement mechanism for Supreme Court decisions so if he chooses not to ignore a court decision, that means he actually supports what is happening. I've had friends tell me that Biden revealed himself as a traitor to the working class when he didn't threaten to investigate and charge Manchin's daughter with crimes over the Epipen price increases in order to force him to vote the party line for minimum wage increases; similarly for the Court where he could have had Thomas and Kavanaugh arrested and removed after the leaked decision if he really wanted to preserve abortion rights, or simply ignored the decision, or threatened to pull federal funding from states that banned abortion in order to preserve access.
It's gotten a lot worse with the campaign message about how dangerous Trump is. They say that Biden saying Trump is dangerous to democracy is evidence that there are mechanisms Biden could be using right now to seize power "undemocratically" and enact his promised agenda and he's choosing not to because he doesn't actually want to accomplish any of the things he had to say to get voted in. I try to make the argument that "abuse of power is bad" and that e.g. ignoring Supreme Court decisions that you don't agree with is not a good place to go, but it doesn't seem to get anywhere.
An example response I've gotten:

Someone "abusing power" in the system to do bad things is bad. Someone abusing power to do good things is good. You don't get my vote because you obeyed rules that lead to bad outcomes.

I feel like I'm losing my mind sometimes. What are arguments that I can use to persuade people (who I generally agree with on policy!) that autocracy is bad, even if the leader could then unilaterally do things you think are good policy?

But this artist probably didn't just want to make a cute romantic thing, but actually tell a story. And I want to explain why, in my opinion, this fan comic is probably the best one we have so far.
The answer us actually simple even if it is hard to execute: they knew how to write a good romance, or at least they understood well how to write their Headcanons in an organic way:

But in a fiction, how do you write a relationship (positive, negative, friendly, familial, or romantic)?
A character generally supports a theme. For example with the movie Puss In Boots 2, the Protagonist has a fear of death and weak self esteem, and his love interest is a reflection of his fear to engage himself.
When two characters are connected, you have to explain in the story how they are close. And the best thing is when you can also make their themes match.
And for Trailblazer and Firefly, I think it's the case. What is Trailblazer's story? There is a lot of question about destiny, and the path of the Trailblaze or other aeons, and Firefly tries to help him, when she's not busy being edgy, by telling him that she herself want to reach her end the way she wants, and doesn't let the inevitability of the events slow her down.
And the way Traiblazer impact her is probably the reason she is the way she is now: how can she be so adorable, cute, but also resolved and extremely edgy?
Her being this edgy is a Blade thing, if she was supposed to simply be a weapon or a knight, she probably valued the honor of protecting her nation or the efficiency over everything and else, and if she was just cute, saying such edgy lines can sound off.
And the artist decided to make Traiblazer the reason behind her desire to make such one liners.
Firefly probably had no objectives in the past, and Traiblazer gave her the desire to eventually live as herself, the girl named Firefly. Or maybe she always wanted to live as Firefly, but never knew how.
And in both cases, living as yourself is never an easy task. You define yourself with many things:

When she heard about it, she is not sure, and doesn't think it can work. But Trailblazer doesn't give up and makes her eventually do it, she is extremely embarassed. This is not for efficiency, this is edgy and a little cringe... Why doing that?
But then you see all the time they spent simply having fun making those lines and trying to make her the coolest Kamen rider possible. And it is what she loves. She probably associates this moment they made those lines and trained together as a moment she lived as Firefly, and not Sam.
She came to like it, as we can see on the Livestream of today, she still practices her lines. It may be just for fun, but Firefly doesn't seem to be that bothered with her choices. She embraced them because they made who she is.
And so, Trailblazer taught her to not fear the cringe, just enjoy things she enjoys, because what matters by the end of the day, is that you did everything you wished, it is how you live as who you are without regrets.
To summ it up:

okthen was have another of his rants in #general, when I saw this comment. I know I'm biased in that I only like 1 out of every 100 ideas okthen has, but this is that one for the afternoon of June 6th, 2024.
Enough roasting.
I want to see a CTF map where everyone spawns in the middle of the map. Two head to the right, two head to the left, and whichever side you end up, that's the position you start playing. I think it'll be different and fun, like Zorro.
Put those spawns in the middle of the map. Out of the prevent radius. I want people to move and sweat.
$22.50 Fijian Dollars ($10 USD) are on the line; however, I expect the MTC to accept more than one of these maps into trial rotation over the summer. The rules are different this time.

To my fellow scions of the knightly houses. I would like to share with you all a new tactic of mine with a ally unit I've not seen many use. While my sample size is small, so far my results have been quite positive. So, I would like to encourage more of you to try it and see how it goes.
I present for your consideration the Rogue Trader Entourage. Optionally with a voidsmen-at-arms unit (5). Or if you wanna spend the points Navy breachers if you are feeling spicy. I admit they are on the spendy side points wise. But Allow me to show you my reasoning:
Abilities:

• Backroom Deals: While this unit is leading a unit, models in that unit have the Infiltrators ability. Them and their meatshields...I mean loyal followers can help secure early objectives. This was very valuable in a game I played vs the Rad Ad mech. Bannered my home objective and infiltrated onto another so the rad bombardment was wasted. (No, I didn't tailor the list I didn't know I'd be fighting ad mech, there are only like five of them).
• Healing Serum: Feel no pain 5+ to the bearer's unit to help them soak wounds a bit more.
• Invulnerable Save 4+: it works for the Knight Lancer after all
• Leader: Can lead Imperial Navy Breachers, or Voidsmen-at-arms
• Rogue Trader Entourage: This my fellow Scions is why I took them. After players have deployed select D3 Imperium Battleline units from your army and redeploy them. They can be placed into strategic reserves regardless of how many are already in there. Our beloved Armigers are Imperium Battleline, with this we can engage in some redeployment tactics. The ability to deny a flank or reinforce one you left weak on purpose as bait is wonderful. So is being able to walk in a Warglaive in melta range of an enemy. So far my opponents haven't been able to really handle Suddenly Warglaives coming in. Helverins and Moirax would work for that as well depending on the load out if you wanted different lines of fire.

The downside: The Entourage is 105 points and throw in a voidsmen unit you are looking at 155. So we are having to cut out an armiger and we won't be using an assassin if you give them the meatshield escort. It can be helpful for screening though if you are worried about that.
My attention fell on them as own knight house lore has them tied to the rogue trader dynasty that discovered them. Also I don't like to rely on metas I know we don't have a ton of options for best units, Canis Rex being an example of so useful it is hard not to bring, I love my Lancer the same way. So this ally gave me a different approach and some tactical options people have had a hard time to adapt to. Feel free to try it and comment on it I am curious what people think.

I’m 16 and have been maladaptive day dreaming since I was about 9.I’ve had a story that I’ve been working on since the start,developing it over time and all that,aside from that I’ve had some other short stories and those random dialogues that you imagine instead of talking to people,for example when I don’t have the courage to talk to someone,I just imagine a conversation with them full on.Other than this I’ve fully been working on that main story and it feels as if almost my whole life is in there,to a point where sometimes it’s hard to differentiate myself from the real me and a character I’ve made in that story. I didn’t use to think of it as a problem until now,when I’ve realized that it has actual impacts on people as well because instead of actually socializing in the outside world,imagining that happening in my head was fulfilling enough,I’ve been doing that for years so it obviously became a habit.I’ve also talked to my friends about this,and so I’m coming to the realization that this has real effects not only on me but also people,yet I can’t fully acknowledge it as a problem because I’m scared that I might just be exaggerating this and I can just stop daydreaming,yet the thought of stopping also scares me.I know that there are plenty of things to do outside of daydreaming,but what will I return to after a full day of not paying attention to it? What will I be without my characters and story lines and everything? It feels like my whole life is in there and if I were to stop,then a big chunk of me would disappear.I’ve realized that I have a real identity outside of one of the characters I’ve made,and I know that’s not okau,but hell my whole value would disappear with that character. I'm in this server online with some good people (or so I thought). These people I've had really good conversations with, gained many insights from, and enjoyed spending time with. But a few days ago one of these people posted an antisemitic "meme" and so I stated how I was Jewish and that it's probably not the best to do that at all, to my surprise everyone else just shrugged it off. Today this guy posts another one which was even worse and I again mildly state concerns (although secretly I felt angry about it), later he sends more and then this other guy joins in with "we should finish what h*tler started" and the first guy reacts with a laughing emoji.
That comment makes me feel indescribably both sad and angry
I should add that these "memes" are all conspiracy theories that the guy has somehow found a relation Judaism for, for example some rich guy planning world domination who happens to have a Jewish wife or something along those lines (not exact scenario), then proceeds to blame Jews for all their problems. I can exactly tell this guy's thought process and so I know I'll never win an argument against someone making those kind of claims.
I'm leaving that server 100% but these comments feel way to personal and hurt so there's a part of me that wants to leave a big comment before I leave saying how this kind of behavior isn't right but another part of me wants me to not say that and just leave because they'll never actually understand that anyway.
This is the first time I've experienced proper antisemitism in a space I've been in and I know how I feel but I don't know how to react. Should I stand up for myself or should I just leave and ignore to avoid potential aggravation?

For background, I've been playing Minecraft off and on since the late Alpha days. I used to play on a massive (for the time) economy server (Buxville, if anyone remembers that) and soon got into modded. I love exploring worlds with overhauled terrain gen and new structures and dungeons. I love setting up tech, assembly lines, and automation. I love tinkering with some of the big names in magic for all the fun toys and gadgets to play with. Yes, I do get overwhelmed sometimes and stuck trying to decide what to do and eventually I'll fall off, set Minecraft aside for a while and come back later, but I do enjoy it overall. I've played several FTB packs, SevTech, MC Eternal, Oceanblock, and probably quite a few others plus have done custom packs a few times. I don't mind kitchen sink packs, but some questing/progression for goals is always appreciated.
My girlfriend has never played Minecraft in her life, but I do think she'll very much like it. She's not a fan of "thinking" games, but she loves legos, building, and decorating as well as adventuring like RPGs. I bought the game on sale last week for her and she's very eager to play together.
Here's where I struggle: I have a very hard time going back to Vanilla now. Even with some of the recent updates (love the new cave systems, for example), the world just feels kinda barren and lifeless after years of playing various heavy modpacks and I'm never quite sure what to do with myself.
I'm looking for advice on how to best play the game that can keep me entertained without depriving her from experiencing what makes Minecraft special. If nothing else, I think you have to experience some of the jank to really appreciate what modders have done with the game.

There have been some problems in the past with my MIL overly criticizing me and blaming me for things after wedding drama - I thought these were all resolved about a year ago, but before they were resolved things got so bad my husband and I almost split up because I felt like he didn't have my back.
Then, out of the blue a few weeks ago, she texts my husband, "unfortunately, OP seems to prefer to confide in anybody but me". We had no idea what it meant but began to unpack that she was unhappy that other family members learned about certain minor life updates from us and told her before she heard them from us.
Thus ensued a LONG conversation and multiple follow-ups about how she feels like we haven't been updating her about our life. Mind you, she was the FIRST after my husband to know about my new job, and other major updates. Also, the text wasn't about my husband and I, she specifically named me, and she couldn't explain why she focused on me rather than both me and my husband.
I told her something along the lines of "well, you should always treat others with respect because you don't know what they're going through" and used the example that, last year I suffered from a pretty extreme bout of depression so I wasn't communicating with ANYONE, not just her. Her reaction to this was to be annoyed that we didn't tell her I was depressed. Hmm.. I wonder why?
Anyway, this has come between my husband and I, because now my husband is anxiously "reporting" things that happen in our lives to my MIL and FIL so they make it to them before other family members. I feel like this reinforces the bad behavior of criticizing me to get her way. Also, I am closer to other family members and sometimes just excited to share. Any advice welcome! This group has been a lifesaver when it comes to coping and realizing I'm not alone.

My husband keeps telling other people about my periods
I (31F) am married to my wonderful husband (35M). We have also recently become first-time parents to our beautiful baby.
My husband is pretty much perfect in every single way...except for one, recurrent issue. He keeps telling other people very sensitive information about my gynecological health. Examples of this include: - Telling his mother details about my menstrual cycle - Telling his male boss when I was diagnosed with uterine fibroids - Specifying exactly what kind of doctor's appointment we are going to (IUD insertion) when asking his mother to babysit for us
I have told him that him sharing this kind of sensitive information about what is going on in my pants bothers me, and he has apologized every time. This morning though, he did it AGAIN.
I had a very severe first postpartum period last night, so bad that the health line nurse recommended we call 911. It was so bad, I was almost fainting from blood loss. I refused to go to the hospital, but my husband took the day off work to stay home and look after me and the baby today. I am still feeling weak and dizzy today, so I appreciated this.
HOWEVER, this morning over breakfast, my husband mentioned that he had explained why he wasn't at work to a male coworker over text. As in, he had described exactly what was going on with me, my fibroid issue, the bleeding, everything. Bear in mind that I have never even met this male coworker, and certainly wouldn't have shared this kind of information with him of my own volition.
I got upset, my husband apologized, familiar scenario yet again. I get it, he feels good commiserating about my admittedly very stressful and difficult to manage 'lady problems' with his married coworkers and his mom. It helps him cope, especially after a night spent trying to decide whether I need to be rushed to the emergency room. Still, I AM NOT COMFORTABLE with strangers (or his mother!) knowing the details of what's currently happening in my poor, malfunctioning uterus.
So, am I justified in getting increasingly more irritated and upset with my husband every time I find out that's he's been discussing my gyno issues with other people, even though he says it helps him decompress/explain absences from work?
How should I handle this situation?

Edit: My husband is not autistic, nor does he have ADHD. Normally he is quite good about not sharing something once I tell him the subject is off-limits. For some reason, he just doesn't seem to be able to get on board with the idea that anyone should find this kind of information embarrassing or invasive.

If this was a post about a wife constantly talking to her female coworker and father about her husband's quick ejaculation or impotence, I'm sure people would be defending him. Father-in-law casually bringing up his medical issues, "Hey champ, heard you're having a little problem downstairs. Don't worry, my plumbing ain't what it used to be." Yeah, I'm sure that seems totally okay.
That is EXACTLY what this feels like! 😂😅🥲 My MIL has literally tried to bring up the volume of my period flow and make recommendations regarding it, after my husband over-shared with her. To say this made me uncomfortable is the understatement of the year. And the thought of his male coworkers knowing similar details makes me want to crawl into a hole and grow moss. 😶‍🌫️
I would never be able to go to a work event if my husband told his coworkers about my vagina in any way, and I'm not a very prudish person at all. I just feel like your personal health issues are your own unless YOU choose to disclose them. That's literally why HIPAA* laws exist in the first place.
That's what I told my husband this morning; that I am officially never going to any of his work events, if this information about my gynecological health has been shared around his office. He seemed startled, but also kind of like it was starting to click just how unhappy I was that his coworkers are privy to my personal info.
I totally get it, I would feel prejudged and so exposed. Like a specimen on a table. In a room full of strangers who know intimate details about my genitals. That's some horror movie shit, honestly lol.
YES. THIS. EXACTLY THIS!!! jumping and waving and pointing at this comment THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL, and I just wish there was some way for my husband to vent and process his feelings without spilling the scariest and most vulnerable moments of my intimate health to total strangers/my lacking-in-boundaries MIL. 😵‍💫

Okay. Wow. My original post devolved into a mess of...something.
So first of all, a few extra things to clarify:

• Yes, I understand that refusing medical advice to go to the hospital carries risks. Where we live though, unless you are literally on Death's doorstep, you will wait 12+ hours in an ER to be triaged. Sitting in a growing pool of my own blood, with our baby, in a crowded waiting room, did not sound like a helpful place to be. Especially since I already know what's wrong with me (I'm 3 months postpartum with large, symptomatic uterine fibroids) and no, I am not open to the possibility of a hysterectomy at this time. I want more kids.
• No, my husband is not autistic, narcissistic, or in any other way developmentally or emotionally limited. Neither is he abusive. Jeezus, people, now I'm offended FOR my husband.
• No, my own family does not live nearby. During the fallout of my traumatic labour and emergency C-section, my MIL and FIL were literally the only family support that we had on-scene. My MIL definitely has a habit of being a chronic over-sharer with much fewer personal boundaries than me, but she 100% means well. Even though it makes me a little embarrassed when she does things like send over various herbs and teas with FIL, along with detailed instructions on how to use them for 'menstrual problems', I also get that she's doing it from a place of caring.
• Yes, husband and MIL are chronically up to their eyeballs in each other's lives. Always have been, always will be. He is an only child, and she was a single teenage mother when he was born. Plus mothers being super involved in their adult children's lives is a bit cultural for them. Do I sometimes wish he would share less about our married life with her? Heck yeah! Is that a hill that I can/will die on? Nope. I knew this about my husband when I married him.

So...
The suggestions on my original post ranged from helpful (clarify boundaries, seek support, see the issue from both perspectives) to, frankly, toxic and abusive (spread his personal medical information around publically, berate him, insult him, leave him in the dark about my health status, and my personal favourite, threaten to leave him).
Y'all, this man literally does everything and more for me. He held me through serious prenatal/postpartum depression, drove me back and forth across the city to seek help for my issues, sits up with me at midnight on the bathroom floor to ensure that my bleeding eventually stops during an episode, stays home with me when I'm anemic to watch over both me and our baby, changes diapers, cooks me food, lets me dictate the pace of our postpartum sex life, checks that I'm taking my meds, does all the heavy-lifting housework, tells me he loves me, reassures me, comforts me...
Does this give him a free pass to discuss my gynecological issues in public? No.
So, he and I sat down yesterday and established clear rules. He officially has my permission to discuss my Lady Problems with the one other lady of importance in his life...his mom. It helps him process after a scary episode (he admitted to crying out of fear for my safety after I finally fell asleep following the latest bloodbath), and his mom is our biggest support.
As for work, he is to say that "My wife is struggling with postpartum medical issues." No less, no more. If his boss needs further info, we will have my midwife draw up a doctor's note. My husband agreed to this, apologized, we kissed and made up. I also promised to remember to take my iron pills. Because anemia.
As for me, I learned a valuable less here. Be careful soliciting advice from the internet, because everyone will bring their own baggage to the issue. It's a little concerning how quickly so many people will figuratively advocate for flogging a loving husband in the public square, just because he's not handling a single issue perfectly. 💔

Didn’t you mention that you did all of that before? And that he again and again ignored your wishes?
While I had grumbled and expressed that I didn't like other people knowing about my gyno issues, I hadn't actually laid down clear Yes/No boundaries and established a script that my husband could use.
Now my husband knows exactly who he can and cannot discuss my issues with, and what to say to people whom he cannot elaborate with.
Good. Let’s hope he understands this time.
I stand with my advice to not tell him anything till he learns. But also to tell him that you would do the same to him and to see how he reacts/would like it. Not that you really should tell people about his problems.

I'm glad you've found a solution you are happy with. But please, talk to your doctor about iron infusions. Supplements are fine for normal anemia, not for people with chronic bleeding conditions like this!
Thanks for the reminder! I actually did get a series of IV iron infusions in the final weeks of my pregnancy, because my anemic fainting was to the point where my husband couldn't leave me unsupervised. 😱 Might be time to go in for another infusion...

This post is so weird. I’m sorry you found it so upsetting that people were upset and worried for you. They came to that conclusion based on your own description of your husband’s completely inappropriate behavior. But you’re right, everybody else is the problem, not you, not your husband who talks about your vagina to his boss. That’s totally normal, respectful husband behavior!
