APB: Second Half Progress?

2024.05.14 19:19 TalionDCU APB: Second Half Progress?

APB: Second Half Progress?
Last week I was talking about how Troy Lesesne was trying to find a way to keep the team from wilting in the second halves of games. I worried it might not be possible with the somewhat messed-up roster, but it feels like some progress has been made.
In this game, instead of waiting patiently for DC United to wilt, Pineda subbed off a winger (Edwin Mosquera) at halftime and subbed on Dax McCarty to reinforce a midfield battle that Klich and Hopkins had been winning in the first half. I didn’t check to see if this happened at the half, but certainly after the third goal, Lesesne pulled the team back into a low block and defended in a 5-4-1 instead of a 5-3-2, leaving Benteke as a lone high outlet. This slowed down DC’s offense but successfully denied Atlanta much in the way of chances. Lesesne put Pirani on for Stroud in the 73rd minute, both for fresh legs and perhaps because Pirani is—at least theoretically—better than Stroud at holding on to the ball while outnumbered and finding a pass under pressure. This didn’t pay off with a goal, but he did help generate a few shots, which lately have been few and far between after halftime.
I wanted to see if I could validate my fuzzy sense of improvement with some objective stats. We’re twelve games into the season, so maybe we can see some trends. Note that I normally use FBref, but for this I’m using Fotmob stats because they let me filter by half.
The first question is do the stats even confirm the eye test that this is a real issue?
Answer: yes. Kind of.
DC’s overall goal difference:
  • Overall: 0
  • Second halves: -3
Expected goal difference (DC’s xG minus opposing team xG):
  • Overall: +2.06
  • Second halves: -0.43
Big chance difference (DC’s “big chance” stat minus the opposition’s “big chance” stat):
  • Overall: +4
  • Second halves: -1
So this seems like a significant effect. My first thought was it doesn’t seem as big as I would have thought, but it’s worth noting that DC’s overall xG difference is 4th best in the league. Their second half xG difference, if it were the team’s overall, would be near the bottom of the eastern conference.
What about the trend? I tried looking at trends by looking at stats like xG and big chances based on the percentage DC had in the second half, but those charts didn’t tell the story I wanted them to tell seemed either too noisy or too impacted by the game state. I think the best view is just second half xG difference, so here that is game-by-game:
https://preview.redd.it/k8l2v4fsdf0d1.png?width=721&format=png&auto=webp&s=1726fcb05e73a7eaca197cc71be0fd07b1f2790d
Overall, you’ve got to like that trend over the past four games! Although it looks more dramatic because of how terrible that NYCFC game was. Also, it’s worth noting that the Orlando City game involved a brutal collapse on the scoresheet but doesn’t look so bad in xG terms.
Here’s the same thing broken out so you can see our xG and xG allowed in the second halves of each game:
https://preview.redd.it/pb1wpywudf0d1.png?width=712&format=png&auto=webp&s=5cb4851458a2d1401193ebf9290658394902d412
My big takeaway is that we should try not to get crushed like in the Inter Miami and NYCFC games. Instead, we should do the crushing, like we did against New England and Portland. How’s that for hard-hitting analysis?
Finally, let’s look at DC’s xG difference in each half:
https://preview.redd.it/k8z6c38xdf0d1.png?width=716&format=png&auto=webp&s=18f9ef4f6f41cfd5203dfec6865d6565df201af6
From this, you can see there’s been several games with clear meltdowns: St. Louis City, CF Montreal, and Seattle. And a few where DC was a bit worse: New England, Cincinnati, NYCFC, and Philadelphia. Portland was the one really big turnaround, but Columbus and Atlanta were both improvements.
As always with soccer stats, this is mostly a matter of entertainment and not scientific truth, but I’ll keep an eye on things as we go forward.
See my full game writeup for more from the Atlanta game, including player ratings, Ted Ku-Dipietro leading all MLS players in a silly stat, and more.

2024.05.14 11:52 MirkWorks Notes on Recent Episode I

Here. And I’d like to start by noticing that Steve Sailer is obviously Delicious Taco’s dad. Having said this.
Good episode. Lots of engagement which I suppose is a net positive for all involved. Obviously a lot of the injury stems from a distortion. The episode’s content fantasized and in fantasy warped into something constituting a threat (no, an outright assault) to the listener’s person. One can simply listen to the episode and see that some (in fact the bulk) of the negative responses are from people reacting to some spectral absent-presence rather than to what is actually being said over the course of the 2 hour long episode. The voices and the discourse have instead been shaped into sonic receptacle containing the reflection of something wildly ugly. Injuriously ugly.
Past few days have been brutal. Found myself doom-viewing the main sub, should know better at this age. Feels like I’ve been transmogrified into an absurd and wretched thing. Must've transgressed against a gnome or something. Fascinating to think about.
I would like nothing more than to shame you.
Miami Summer is a killer. Urine is blood-orange. And my mother deserves better sons.
Why would A&D do this?
Witnessing the rankest comments. In bygone age I’d found them tolerable. Having imagined them delivered by high society homosexual. A damned dandy; chubby, sinister, and flamboyant. Capri on a stick limply held between index and middle fingers, twirling wrist ash’ing on expensive Persian rug. The blurry ghosts of his mother and the kid brother who drowned in the pond all those years ago glaring at him from far-off corner. Clearing throat he launches into sing-song slander head peeling back cackling at his own wickedness. Vile and venomous but charming. Instead what we get is 30+ year old mentally-ill men. Men whose Twitter activity has atrophied their cock and balls. Genitals withering away like the Worker's State, in its place a gasping cloaca, worry not I can clock em from miles away. The odious cloaca-havers are soon joined by ruined drug-addled children and the other women. They talk about A&D in disgusting ways. This is unfair and nasty. I confess to being angry. Sweating blood-specked kerosene. Let the scent fill up the empty air between us. My wrath singeing those overgrown nose hairs.
Of the two I think Anna is the one that inspires the harshest parasocial spite. So much so that I’d recommend she take some protective measures against evil eye and tongue. Maybe take baths with hyssop herb, rose water perfume, and holy water.
It’s as if Anna Khachiyan is a Giant Floating Vagina with teeth and a noticeable overbite. Viewed from another angle it transforms into a Madonna encircled by cherubim. Perhaps we are cruel to Anna in order to be kind to our mothers.
All very pre-Oedipal.
Had to step back and parse it out. Anna draws a comparison between herself and Sailer while also asking him a great question,
07:12-07:49
Anna: “I started reading it during the pandemic because it was the pandemic. I was pregnant and bored and I really relate to you as a person who everyone thinks is like evil and monstrous on the internet, but is actually like quite agreeable and mild mannered in real life. And I was going to ask you this question last, but I may as well just ask it now. How do you feel about your new found popularity? And especially, how do you feel about the fact that you have been effectively adopted by or identified with the hard right?”
The first part of the above extract, the sympathetic recognition, brings to mind a bit of 20th century Hermetic theory concerning harmful thought-forms. Our unconscious self-destructive impulses animating the fantasy-phantasm of the other. Inhabiting their shape. Gaining a degree of autonomy. This artificial entity is vampiric by default, provoking what the Czech magician Franz Bardon calls a "magical persecutory complex"... He goes into detail about such entities in Step VI of his seminal work, Initiation into Hermetics. Describing different types of artificial elementals and phantasms along with details on how to consciously go about creating and dissipating them. One of those artificial psychic entities, the one that concerns us, he calls the schemata. Bardon details two variants, one connected with paranoid persecutory fantasies and the other with erotic obsession. The first type comes about when someone who is “easily excitable, easily influenced or self-important” (Narcissist?) has a run in with another person who has, to put it mildly, a memorable visage and dark personality. The schemata is born from the phantasm modeled after this demonic-looking disagreeable person. The victim begins to attribute all kinds of minor inconveniences to the influence of the ugly person. Deludes themselves into thinking that the ugly/disagreeable person is a powerful black magician. Everything appears to reinforce their paranoid delusions. The schema grows in power feeding off the anxieties of their creatohost. The person might end up committing suicide. This was the persecutory schemas desire, having achieved its goal Bardon notes, “how great is the shock when such a spirit realizes on the mental plane that he has committed a very successful magical suicide. What a bitter disappointment! The demonic looking person, however, has no idea what happened; he was actually only the means to an end.”
God gave us eyes so that we might notice things.
The way I see it:
Being social animals the subject of our fantasy, of our fixations, is the fantasy of the other. What makes the human Human is not that we desire but rather that we desire the desire of the other. An excess desire. We fantasize about what the other is fantasizing and enjoying. Our fantasy of the fantasy of the other is the outlines a fundamental lack within our person, a negativity. Experienced as a splitting of consciousness. Intuiting this lack, becoming aware of it, and attempting to articulate it, we are self-consciousness. This negativity or void is in psychoanalytic terms, the unconscious. We likewise intuit that there had once been some original state. One without lack and contradiction. A state of fullness, without the division between self and object. A harmonious whole. A pure consciousness or as Freud refers to it in Civilization and its Discontents an oceanic feeling. The Original Desire, one that is authentically my own, which was not the desire of the other but which unites our desires in itself. This desire is the extinction of all desires.
The eye that perceives the lovely is at once the eye that perceives what I lack. Perceiving this lack, which explains my present condition, I covet. This is an evil eye. The lover’s gaze is of the same type as the infirm or pathic gaze. Reminded of Zizek’s formulation of one of Hegel’s insights, “Evil resides in the very gaze which perceives Evil all around itself" itself a variation of Meister Eckhart’s “the eye through which I see God is the same eye through which God sees me.” The recognition of evil, the ability to see and judge evil, stems from our ability to recognize disparity. This disparity is already present within our own person, the split-consciousness. The feeling cognized, the awareness of our condition as beings separated from the whole. The clairvoyance of the tyrant and the philosopher.
Suppose that psychopathology is born from our inability to recognize an image as an image.
I intuit something more in this person, something they’re hiding. It can’t just be envy, no. It has to be because I can feel that this thing they’re hiding is sinister. It can’t just be that I feel animosity towards this person, no. It has to be because this person is evil and not just an isolated evil but rather a symptom of a much larger evil. An evil that is responsible for all the suffering in the World, for why my World isn’t the way it should be. It can’t just be attraction, no. It has to be that I intuit something more in this person, something hidden, that I must destroy in order to go on living.
If vile shit comes to mind (as vile things often do, especially when one is immersed in ambient algorithmically-summoned vileness, namely outrage and atrocity porn) they won't affirm it to themselves or try to justify or rationalize it or present it as a rational political stance. And they don’t abstract this particular form of vileness into the primary lens through which they view and interpret cultural phenomena. Unreflexive racial animosity is ugly and fetid. We’re capable of recognizing it, feeling it, as something pathological. We’re also capable of laughing at it. Laughing at ourselves. Look at what our ladies have to say about Stuart Seldowitz (the dude who went viral harassing a halal street vendor) in I’ll Be Missinger. “He sucks,” “he’s a loser,” “he’s obviously sick,” and that he gives the impression of someone who lives alone, will die alone, and will be found weeks or even months after the fact.
Perhaps Red Scare is special in how it manages to elicit absurd, wildly inappropriate responses from listeners. Vulgar and revelatory was it? Steve Sailer elicits a similar response and has become an expert in turning said absurd reactions to his advantage. Generally the cooler-head in any given exchange. While the other person shouts obscenities at a ghost, smashing fists against the post, looking crazy, like a proper hysteric. Sailer breaks the fourth-wall, making eye-contact with the would-be noticer, with a little shake of the head, a little chuckle, a little shrug… “you’re noticing right? See what I have to put up with? Imagine these people defining my legacy.” Still he seems to take it with the good humor of an uncle who will still call you on your birthday, despite your drunken outburst during holiday get-together he will admit to not having resisted the temptation to provoke you, it use to be fun, recall all the cool bands I introduced you too? We use to be best buds, “do you really think anything I’ve said merits this sort of response? Honestly?”
Has to be a cheap trick. A technique employed by an old trickster in decades long honing of craft. Maybe not. Maybe what we see is precisely what we get. Most of the very upsetting things being jokes sincerely intended to lighten the mood. Steve Sailer doesn’t care about the particular political orientation of his audience. He just cares that he has an audience. Grateful for the fans he has. Nonetheless happy that they’re not seething malcontent racists. Even if one disagrees with the methodology, the heuristic, the conclusions. That’s secondary, perhaps even tertiary to the recognition sought. His craftsmanship as a writer.
Why I loved his conflict with Will Stancil. Stancil inspired a lot of pondering for me. Putting things in place…
01:29:22-01:29:28
Anna: “You come for the race science and stay for the prose-styling and vivid story-telling.”
In trying to survive as a writer exiled from Mainstream Conservative media (ConInc) during the Bush Jr years. In fact, correct me if I’m wrong but the cancelation that actually impacted Steve Sailer, setting him down the path we find him in, was brought about not by blue-haired hall monitor millennial leftists but by his “fellow” Conservatives. I imagine that he just went with whoever was willing to take him adapting to the editorial standards and audience sensibilities of the publications willing to provide him succor. Not charity mind you but an ability to engage in his own little labor of love.
Read some Sailer. Might get into that later. But that’s the initial impression I got from Steve. Would be utterly mortified if memorialized as a Racialist Ideologue rather than as an entertaining and thought-provoking journalist. Think I also benefited from seeing how he’s actually received by people who are navigating through (or in certain cases, are mired in) the marginal “Hard Right”-spaces or the Rightwing Digital Ghetto. End up realizing that he isn’t hateful, that what you see is precisely what you get, that he privileges craft over ideology, that his reception and exile from Neocon dominated media outlets (remember these are the people gushing ecstatic over the US invasion of Iraq, manufacturing consent for our adventures in the Middle East) was exceedingly unfair but that he nonetheless managed to persevere. And that he really never goes beyond Norm McDonald in terms of his sardonic wit or The Boondocks animated series in terms of his criticisms. His normality is a great source of stability and comfort for his readers; “noticing” and speculating about these topics doesn’t necessarily lead to one becoming a seething racist.
Returning for a moment to Will Stancil, this was what he inspired:
As the last man standing I spend countless hours immersed in detailed fantasies about the coming apocalypse and my enemy's bliss. A dumb and wicked happiness proportional to my suffering. Easy to imagine other people happy. Hearts unbroken. Unburdened, hydrated, sexually satisfied, debt-free, lucky, successful in all business endeavors. Brute, jezebel, schemer, parasite, rival, betrayer... the whole lot of them thriving. Frolicking in my mind's eye. When the time comes I won't forget that they were happy while...others...suffered.
Find that trying to void your mind of all thought or sit perfectly still for 10 minutes. End up feeling like something requires much less energy from us than nothing. Causes coalescing. Conspiring, to what ends?
You see. The very same principle appears to be at work here. Same pathological base that undergirds genuine racial or ethnic animosity. Fantasizing about the other’s enjoyment and being unable to distinguish between the persecutory Phantasm and the actual human being whose shape it appropriates.
Had a friend recommend forgetting. Forgetting is a dialectical exercise, first you have to acknowledge the thing living rent free in your head and acknowledge its origins... then you have to take the steps to stop feeding it. Letting the thought-form dissolve. Let it be put to rest. Reminded of the practice Orthodox Christian contemplatives call Nepsis.
Other approaches as well, acknowledging the presence of anima veiled in shadow.
But listen…
The podcasts I consume, are a reflection of me as a person. Being what I associate and consume. What does it say about me in particular? Reveal about me? That they should have Steve Sailer on the pod. Settling down. Perhaps some responses could be understood in this light. That a Sailer episode reflects poorly on the listener. Constituting a great betrayal of the love and energy and time I have dedicated over the years to you.
I’m not a racist.
Show me your likes on Twitter and I’ll tell you who you are. The most punitive and brutal god. The idea of the AI nu-god being this, utilizing that standard, is horrifying. Show me your likes on Twitter and I’ll tell you who you are, everything you are, and whether or not you qualify to live.
Shamed, I quietly remove the upvote I gave to the hysterical person and the downvote I gave to him.
Hysteria like a yawn is an empathic contagion.
Back to Anna it’s not because she’s ugly and it sucks that she might nurse this delusion. I actually think Anna is really pretty. Rather I think it’s because she’s a mom. She registers as a maternal figure. That’s one of the reasons I think people respond to her the way they do. As stated earlier. We are cruel to Anna in order to forgive our moms.
[To be continued: Wherein I say horrible things that should never be said to the people I claim to love. Will also interrogate Sailor Socialism]

2024.05.10 15:33 boutell New US and Canadian CCS chargers in April 2024

Here are all (*) of the new US and Canadian CCS (Level 3 fast-charging) stations that rolled out in April 2024, according to the Department of Energy. You can get the data yourself here.
These chargers are suitable for most new EVs on the market, except for:
  1. Tesla drivers who haven't bought the official CCS adapter yet. Certain older Teslas need additional work done to accept the adapter.
  2. Leaf owners like me, owners of the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and some owners of older cars that also use CHAdeMO. If you drive such a car, see my matching post in leaf.
Some of these chargepoints will be "refreshes," e.g. the provider replaced them with faster chargers etc. Some may be incorrect. This report is only as good as the Alternative Fuels Data Center data.
There were 330 CCS charging stations with a total of 682 chargepoints added or refreshed in April 2024, which is a major uptick in both stations and chargepoints. There were only 166 new CCS charging stations in April 2023, with only 267 chargepoints. Things are trending dramatically upwards.
Some part of this is due to Tesla Magic Dock stations. Previously Tesla didn't report these to the AFDC as CCS, but now they do. And that makes sense because all CCS drivers can use them.
NOTE: most Tesla Superchargers do NOT have magic dock as of this writing (all those shown in this report should have it). I recommend using PlugShare to locate compatible stations for your vehicle.
(*) "What about other Tesla Superchargers? Can't everybody charge with NACS now?"
It's coming for many makes and models, and for newer Ford models as well as a few other manufacturers charging at v3 and v4 Superchargers is already an option with a free adapter from the automakers. GM should release their adapter in the coming weeks. But since they are not open to all CCS vehicles, this report is not the place for them. Tesla's app provides the best guide to their locations, including locations that work with non-Tesla vehicles.
Other Notes
To streamline this post, multi-chargepoint locations are listed with the number of chargepoints first.
For serious trip planning, I recommend PlugShare. But by all means check out these reported new locations and submit reviews on PlugShare, which makes things better for everyone.
If you'd like to know about new chargers along your routes right away, or just prefer not to check this list monthly when new openings are rare in your area, I've set up a free service that provides email notifications as soon as they open. You can sign up at evpov.com. Or not! I don't really have a business plan here, I built it to help EV owners like myself. PlugShare has a similar feature.

2024.05.08 20:42 PaperAndInkGuy Sacramento Bee used AI tools to create SPAM content under fake reporter names — then covered up the deed when another publication started asking questions about the practice

From the story published by Futurism:
As we traced AdVon's web of fake bylines like Damon Ward, it quickly became clear that the company had been publishing content well beyond Sports Illustrated and USA Today.
We found the company's phony authors and their work everywhere from celebrity gossip outlets like Hollywood Life and Us Weekly to venerable newspapers like the Los Angeles Times, the latter of which also told us that it had broken off its relationship with AdVon after finding its work unsatisfactory.
And after we sent detailed questions about this story to McClatchy, a large publisher of regional newspapers, it also ended its relationship with AdVon and deleted hundreds of its pieces — bylined by at least 14 fake authors — from more than 20 of its papers, ranging from the Miami Herald to the Sacramento Bee.
"As a result of our review, we have begun removing Advon [sic] content from our sites," a McClatchy spokesperson told us in a statement, "and are in the process of terminating our business relationship."

2024.05.06 18:24 AzinSteve326 Took advantage of the "Buy 1, Get X 50% Off" special at a Sunglass Hut outlet but want to return the full-price pair

I recently went to a Sunglass Hut (SGH) at an outlet mall and took advantage of their "Buy 1, Get X 50% off". I ended up purchasing 3 pair of Oakleys and 1 pair or Ray Bans for ~$550. However, I'm a little hesitant about keeping the pair of Oakleys ($229) that I had to purchase at full price. Oakley sells the same pair of sunglasses for $202 instead of $229 at SGH. So it would make sense to return the pair from SGH and buy the same pair straight from Oakley. If I return this pair that I paid full price for at SGH, will I get the full $229 returned back to me? Or will the amount be less since I got the other 3 pairs at 50% off? Has anyone had any experience like this with Sunglass Hut? TIA

Help Request - Light Replacement
Light Fixtures with picture of how the wire is run
Side Box
Central Box
Hi Everyone,
Working on changing out light fixtures for the first time. I have never done any kind of electrical work and I'm hoping someone here can help (or tell me if I need a professional).
This is a 1960s Miami apartment building.
I keep watching tutorials and everyone discusses a ground wire but in both the boxes I've opened there doesn't seem to be a ground wire of any kind. I see a blue wire which I assume to be the hot wire, and white which I assume is neutral. Could I be missing the ground? If so what would I do instead. The fixtures themselves don't seem to have a ground wire leaving them, just the 2 you'll see going upwards in the picture.
My second question is regarding the center box. That box has many more wires that I assume go to the outlets above as well as the other lights (the switch is the covered box lower on the wall). Is there anything I need to know about that center box? or is it the same as the rest with more wires.
Any help here would be really appreciated. I'm 25 and don't have too much of a background with this.
Thank you!

2024.05.01 20:24 fkid123 Most modern houses/apartments have way too much glass

What happened to walls? Almost all new modern houses and apartments are almost pure glass on all available sides. Who needs to have full time view in all directions?
Just saw a new multi million dollar apartment building in Miami, all glass in all directions. Didn't they learn anything from Acapulco? Just a matter of time until a big storm comes and wrecks everything.
Walls should be thick and make of something rock solid, windows should be just a part of the wall that start around waist height and end way before the ceiling, while having an additional metal/wood cover outside the glass.
Privacy, resilience, less heat, cheaper, safer against intruders, can hang a picture, drill, have power outlets - I'll take real walls instead of glass panels any day.

2024.04.26 21:35 SeeCrew106 Alex Jones didn't break the Epstein story; in fact, he ignored it for quite some time

This is a repost of a comment I encountered on the JoeRogan subreddit. I suspect it's a regular from /KnowledgeFight. I asked if he would post it here, but I haven't seen it yet, so now I'm including it. It's important. I've changed the formatting, punctuation, spelling, date formats, wording and sentence flow slightly here and there for clarity and accuracy. I've also added footnotes.
Update: I saw the original writer of this comment missed some information, so I've started adding my own paragraphs. Specifically the bit at the beginning.

2006: "John" from California drops a bombshell

On October 10th, 2006, a "John" from California calls into Infowars.
Jumping in at the 01:26:59 mark, we're treated to the following conversation between John and Alex:[1]
John: Another question or statement. Tonight on Coast to Coast, George Norrie has uh.. Jeffrey Epstein. He's part of the America's Truth Forum.
Alex Jones: Oh, yes. We know Al-Qaeda's got nukes and is going to hit us any minute. Yeah, that's great stuff.
John: Yeah, I don't know if you recently... He has an affidavit out on the Internet from Palm Beach Police Department. He has a fetish for 14, 16-year-old girls coming into his house, giving him massages and having [a] fun time. So...
Alex Jones: I don't know anything about that, sir. Why don't you send me some information? You can send it to Aaron at Infowars.com or Kevin at Infowars.com. We all read it. We all share each other's email addresses. But thank you for the call. Let's go ahead and talk to Jim in Texas.
Interesting, don't you think? Cuts him right off. John deserves some credit here, wherever he is. Then again, he's calling into Infowars, I probably shouldn't get my hopes up.

2015: "My gosh, Paul... What do you think is going on?"

When the Guardian article about the Epstein lawsuit was published on January 2nd, 2015, Jones clearly didn't remember this conversation, but then again, why would he? He cut off his guest.
On the January 2nd, 2015 episode of InfoWars, Alex read from an article by "Curt Nemo" about a lawsuit against Prince Andrew alleging that he raped girls along with Jeffrey Epstein. Alex stumbles over Epstein's name (calling him "Espen"), and ends the piece by saying: "Who knows if this is true, but my gosh, Paul, we're gonna go to break in a few minutes, but just the firestorm of pedophile news and Saville having high-level access to all these royals above, even the Secret Service. What do you think is going on?"
This from the guy who claims to have been talking about Epstein since 2008.
On January 22-23, 2015, Gawker (now defunct) published the Epstein flight logs and Epstein's black book.[2][3] It wasn't even discussed on InfoWars. Alex really didn't talk about Epstein until 2016, and it was mostly in the context of disavowing Trump's association with Epstein, since Cenk of TYT had an argument with Jones about it. "Centrist" Alex Jones only paid attention when he started carrying water for Trump, distracting folks from the obvious and close connection between Trump and Epstein — something he does to this day when an Epstein story is in the news. There is zero mention of Epstein before January 2016 on either prisonplanet.com or infowars.com. Ghislaine Maxwell's name wasn't mentioned on InfoWars until Roger Stone brought her name up on October 9th, 2016.[4]
Then you have to wait all the way until October 6th, 2017 until the next Ghislaine mention, and it's not Alex, but Mike Cernovich. You have to wait until August 9, 2019 until Alex mentions her name.[5]
If you listen or read the transcripts, it sounds like this is all brand new information to Alex. Except, her name had been public for more then a decade at that point. It's clear that other media outlets, such as the Miami Herald, Gawker and the UK press were the actual drivers of revealing the Epstein story.
Jones' only 'contribution' to the Epstein story is adding a bunch of ridiculous fake details in 2016-2017, such as when he just made up a claim that Israeli intelligence was blackmailing Hillary with tapes from Little St. James. As usual, Jones just read some headlines and made up some nonsense long after real journalists did their work.

2024.04.25 14:07 SpoofExcel My V2 2-round Mock Draft - Chargers are in 4 trades. New England Stays Put

Nothing really to say here. It’s as clear as day this is the pick
This will really be the pick that shapes the draft as a whole. A lot of people have Maye going at number two to the Commanders, but Daniels is picking up steam as the potentially 2nd best option to go with too. The Commanders have kept this close to their chest so far, but my belief is that is because they are going to go with Daniels.
V2 Note: The noise on this is now VERY loud. They are likely taking Daniels.
In my V1 I was very strongly opinionated that NE would trade with the Vikings, but the more we hear, the more we now seem to be hearing that they are not going to trade because the Vikings and Giants won’t make the payment terms that NE is demanding. That means they are locking in on Maye.
The Cardinals will have had conversations with the Vikings no doubt, but the chance to pick up a generational Wide Receiver of this calibre comes along rarely. They take the chance to give Murray his best WR since NUK.
V2 Note: A lot of people think Giants or Vikings will trade with Arizona. I think they will still hold firm and focus on a generational talent.

TRADE
Harbaugh is a tough man to read, but one thing we know is that his main love of running the ball is possibly going to overcome any desire to pick a WR here. If there was a top Running Back available he'd take them here and not even blink, but there isn’t one. The phone is ringing off the hook in LA, as Giants, Vikings, and even the Jets try to make the call to move up and get their guy. Two of them will be successful in different ways…
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS SENDS:
Pick #5
NEW YORK GIANTS SEND:
Pick #6, Pick #70

Chaos reigns over draft boards across the land. The Giants are not completely unexpected to be considering taking a QB this draft, but not many have them going for McCarthy, and not this early. They are going to move on from Danny Dimes, mostly to avoid that massive $25m injury guarantee he has hanging over their heads for 2025, where the QB class isn’t as strong too. Giants will likely sit McCarthy for as long as they dare let Jones play and risk injury, but unless a miracle season is on the cards, they will see the season out with McCarthy starting.
V2 Note: Originally I had JJ falling to Giants at 6, but the Pats sticking at 3 means they need to avoid the Vikings jumping them on JJ too.

TRADE
The Chargers are Belle of the Ball. They know exactly how far back they are willing to fall and agree to the Jets second offer… The Vikings will baulk at the price now that the top 4 QBs are gone, and know they’re getting one of the others.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS SENDS:
Pick #6
NEW YORK JETS SEND:
Pick #10, Pick #72, 2025 4th

The Jets need to give Rodgers targets. Nabers is considered by some as a better option than MHJ. Either way, the Jets are making this move to grab whichever of the two is available here, and they would have been trying to see if Arizona were open to moving, but the cost of entry is too high due to the QB race. V2 note: I had Jets and Giants flipped at this point in V1.But with the same players taken.
Only way this pick isn’t happening is if Chargers hold firm because they want him, but after all that trading I just can’t see them doing anything else here,
Falcons could go Edge or possibly even look to boost their Oline for Cousins. But with a new QB in town, the goal is to make the most of him, and supply him with an outlet. If the Jets don’t move for Nabers then they will take Nabers here instead.
Bears could look at a few options themselves here. Trading back also not entirely off the table too, but ultimately I see them taking Turner to fix some weak gaps in their Defense.
TRADE
The Chargers are not finished pushing their luck. More teams start calling them knowing that they’re in the hunt for a lot here. Vikings in the end offer a one place movement…..The Chargers are now done with moving down…
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS SEND:
Pick #10
MINNESOTA VIKINGS SEND:
Pick #11, Pick #108, Pick #167

TRADE The Broncos are in absolute no mans land. They have got to repair the damage from the aftermath of last season and Wilsons legendary dead cap this season. There are many who would say it would be lunacy not to move up for a QB, but Broncos are the prime “Tank Job” candidate this season. They begin shopping this pick around and they find a willing partner in the Eagles.
DENVER BRONCOS SEND:
Pick #12
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES SEND:
Pick #22, Pick #53, Pick #172

The Eagles are willing to answer the Broncos call as they need to begin life after Kelce. They have plenty of picks this draft to still not feel the pain of giving up these 3rd and 5th round picks. They take the highest rated Interior Lineman (and a future top Center) of the draft to plug their HOF shaped hole. JPJ likely moves in at Guard to start his career, but as an option he is a great O-Line depth and starting piece that is too good to pass on.
The Raiders need a Quarterback. And watching the Broncos move back, they could be really tempted to snipe one of Nix or Penix here, but they don’t bite. They also have plenty of options for OT or Edge here too. They hold their focus on their biggest need in defence which is the Defensive Backs and avoid the temptations that are now in front of them.

TRADE
I said they were done moving down. I didn’t say they were done. Joe Hortiz and his team have been busy tonight, and now they’re done…. The Saints are in a position of hell. Their cap can-kicking is finally running them down, and they have a lot of picks that are day 3, but could do with being more involved in Day 2.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS SEND:
Pick #14
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS SEND: Pick #37 Pick #69 Pick#72 Pick #108
There is a growing belief that the Chargers might even take an OT way earlier at Pick #5. I believe the night will be built entirely around making sure they get both Bowers and the highest available OT around this spot. Chargers get some extreme block improvement due to both picks they have made. The Chargers also still retain 7 more picks, including pick #70, and can now really build up the roster with young talent (or possibly make another move up in Rounds 3 or 4 if they see someone they really like there).
Back-to-back Bama picks here, and the Colts take someone that is highly touted as possibly even the top defensive player outright, and certainly a high potential player.
There’s been a strange campaign lately that suggests the Seahawks should take a Quarterback this year. They seems to be a classic “misdirection” that they are not dispelling because they absolutely should not do that. Instead, Smith needs protection, and Fuaga gives him that.
Pretty simple pick for the Jags here. They desperately need to improve their pass rush and run stop game after some FA losses. They could be tempted to grab one of the top remaining WRs now too, but the class is deep and they will get their shot at one in Round 2.
Joe Burrow’s contract is now the potential anchor around the Bengals neck. He has got to be on the field all season for them to realise their ambitions of championships. To do that, this Offensive Line must improve.
Rams need Quality and fresh blood in their Defensive Backs. They’ve so far signed none in Free Agency and all indications are Corner will be their main focus this draft. Wiggins is Best Remaining.
Steelers just grabbed Russell Wilson, and lost a few options in Free Agency (plus traded Dionte Jackson). They are going to want to maximise their chances at using him and determine early if they dare renew with him. Brian Thomas is an excellent option.
Dolphins will want to build on getting their first truly full season of output from Tua, and they will want to protect him further. Mims could even move to Interior for a season, but belief is he will move straight in to the OT role.
McKinstry has come out of the Alabama Pro Day very strong. His 40-time plus his drills have supposedly caught the eye of a few teams. It’s possible he might even be the one that the Rams take at 19 but I’m not sure he’s done enough to shoot much higher. Essentially Broncos will go opposite of Rams here between McKinstry or Wiggins.
The Vikings are now left holding onto a pick they likely started the day not expecting to still have. They could debate moving it, but in reality they now have a great set of options ahead of them. With Jefferson seemingly with one foot out of the door, they could now look to targets, but inside look at their OLine and will see if they can flip JJ into a set of 2nds and 3rds.
*24. Dallas Cowboys - Tyler Guyton (Oklahoma) – OT (unchanged from v1)
Dallas can go three or four different directions here. They do need to improve the pass protection, and also need to give Dak more outlets to pass it to. The strong depth of the WR class is why I think Guyton will be their choice at this stage, as the drop-off at O Line is a lot sharper, and that might find by #56 that it’s hurt them to not cover the gap in front of Dak.
The Packers are in need of refreshing their secondary, and DeJean is a phenomenal multi-faceted Defensive Back. He can cover all positions back there, and will confuse a lot of QB’s Reads and their Router Runners as he can snap across the field and pick them up better than most seasoned pros can.
Securing Baker has saved Tampa Bay from the trade madness of the QBs this year. They also managed to bring Evans back as well, saving them from the WR rush as well. This has left them in a great spot to start fixing their defence and securing the NFC South for longer term. Latu will grant them some excellent Pass Rush and Run Support, in a Division that is full of O-Line weakness.
This is weird, Murphy absolutely should not fall this far. But the runs on the Offensive Line, WR’s and obviously QB’s, has left him tumbling down the board with every pick. The Cards are also the team that he would best suit as they are probably the team in most need of a powerful Defensive Tackle.
The question is not “will the Bills take a Texas WR”. The question is “which Texas WR will the Bills take”. They could go Mitchell or Worthy here. Worthy’s stock has risen the closer to the draft we get, and he really stood out in the Pro Day as well.

TRADE
The Lions are likely getting a nosebleed at this point. They’re way higher in the pre-trade order than they’ve been in a long, long time. They have watched top talents fall and might feel that the needs they have can be met and pick up another pick along the way too. The Panthers have just seen another Wide Receiver go off the board and now they have #39, the time has come to get their guy before someone else does, and secure a 5th year option as well.
DETROIT LIONS SEND:
#29
CAROLINA PANTHERS SEND:
#33 #101 (4th Round)

Mitchell has been someone that the Panthers fans have been praying for to drop to them at #33. There is a belief that their new GM shares that sentiment, and will move up to get his man, especially easier to justify now he has that other second round pick from the Burns trade too.
Those WR’s just keep on going. This could easily be Coleman from FSU as well, but either way, the Ravens need to give Lamar a new pass option.
O Line will be a focus in San Fran. They had hoped Barton would continue to fall, but instead settle for Morgan who is also a versatile O Line worker.
The rich get richer. Most years where WR is not so stacked, Coleman would go top 20 without blinking. This pick will cover some absolutely scandalous work by Chiefs Wide options last season, and make them somehow stronger than last season as they go for the Three-peat.
ROUND 2
  1. Detroit Lions - Chop Robinson (Penn State) – LB/EDGE
  2. New England Patriots - Kamari Lassiter (Georgia) – CB
  3. Arizona Cardinals - Bralen Trice (Washington) – EDGE
  4. Washington Commanders - Kingsley Suamataia (BYU) – OT
  5. New Orleans Saints - Jer'Zhan Newton (Illinois) – DL
  6. Tennessee Titans - Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (Missouri) – CB
  7. Carolina Panthers - Darius Robinson (Missouri) – EDGE
  8. Washington Commanders - Troy Franklin (Oregon) – WR
  9. Green Bay Packers - T'Vondre Sweat (Texas) – DL
  10. Houston Texas - Edgerrin Cooper (Texas A&M) – LB
  11. Atlanta Falcons - Payton Wilson (NC State) – LB
  12. Las Vegas Raiders – Mike Sainristil (Michigan) – CB
  13. New Orleans Saints - Zach Frazier (West Virginia) – C
  14. Indianapolis Colts - Xavier Legette (South Carolina) – WR
  15. New York Giants - Roman Wilson (Michigan) – WR
  16. Jacksonville Jaguars - Tyler Nubin (Minnesota) – S
  17. Cincinnati Bengals - Ja'Tavion Sanders (Texas) – TE
  18. Philadelphia Eagles - Chris Braswell (Alabama) – EDGE
  19. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kris Jenkins (Michigan) – DL
  20. Los Angeles Rams - Braden Fiske (FSU) – DL
  21. Denver Broncos - Trey Benson (FSU) – RB
  22. Cleveland Browns - Jonathon Brooks (Texas) – RB
  23. Miami Dolphins - Michael Hall Jr. (Ohio State) – DL
  24. Dallas Cowboys - Ricky Pearsall (Florida) – WR
  25. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Cooper Beebe (Kansas State) – OG
  26. Green Bay Packers - Jaylen Wright (Texas) - RB
  27. Houston Texans - Patrick Paul (Houston) – OT
  28. Buffalo Bills - Marshawn Kneeland (Western Michigan) – EDGE

2024.04.21 08:01 MaxEhrlich Looking at this year and last years Nuggets teams, how well would they have stacked up against each of Lebrons title teams?

Using the current and last years championship Nuggets squads, how would they have faired against the full title run of teams led by Lebron?
Factoring this as all players from the nuggets are as is currently and as they played last year. Lebrons teams being judged as is in those title winning years.
Looking at the 2012 Miami Heat team, obviously a Prime Lebron version 2.0 (?) coming off the let down finals a year prior, an absolute monster athletically but not the same outside shooting threat nor nearly as consistent at the line. Defensively a monster and no one is getting anything easy in a transition with him chasing down. You have a still somewhat healthy and prime Wade who is guard sized Lebron in the same regard. Bosh who is now starting the true stretch 5 play to really open things up for Lebron and Wade as well as space the shooting a bit better. Role guys battier Cole Chalmers jones miller know what to do and that’s play off your Batman and Robin.
I think this matchup actually proves to be quite difficult for Miami as they really would have no good option to guard Jokic other than maybe throwing a much stronger and younger Bron on him. The bigs wouldn’t do much for the Heat and knowing they’d have to switch out and guard some amount of a Jokic 5 out I think could make this a toss up series going 7.
The Nuggets wouldn’t have to change much other than maybe having MPJ prove some worth by guarding out on Bosh when he pops. Jokic could probably still rest in the paint with AG guarding Lebron again. Wade vs Murray is probably the most interesting part, if Wade shuts down Murray then maybe the series is far less comp than I’d assume it to be and how well Murray can manage guarding Wade without biting on his frequent pump fakes and the often transition long outlet passing scores.
A year later the same Heat team is back at it again this time with a bit more emphasis on the outside shooting and spacing for Lebron as Wade shows the smallest step of decline due to injury. Bosh however is now fully into his Center role and it’s understood what he needs to do to unlock the rest of the team.
Again I think we fall on the Wade Murray matchup to kinda determine if we are looking at a 6-7 game series or something much more lopsided.
The championship nuggets team just clicked so well and I almost feel like they were akin to the 2013 spurs minus the elite level defense. Still very good and capable but maybe one or two plays really decides the outcome of a key game.
2016 Cavs were just destined it feels, hard to think that either nuggets team beats them but looking at the roster I’d be really interested in seeing if TT could do to some extent to Jokic what D12 did in the Bubble title.
Bubble title team beat the nuggets in the earlier round so I think it still goes lakers.
Curious to hear how other think of a hypothetical nuggets pacing against each of Lebrons title teams.

A note for editorial staff at The Hill, and for FDA chief Robert Califf:
It is amazing how Califf manages to strain at gnats and swallow camels. He agonizes over the inability of US Government to interdict imports of vaping devices. But he also contrives to ignore a growing avalanche of medical collapses and patient suicides among people in agony who are being denied safe and effective opioid pain reliever therapy. The latter problem was created in part by the silence of his own agency concerning the predictable horrors created by so-called "injunctive relief" clauses in the National Opioid Settlement.
Meantime, the Federal Trade Commission, thinks "lack of competition and contracting practices…may be contributing to drug shortages," and is soliciting public comments on that subject. The left hand of the US Government decidedly doesn't know – or care – what the right hand is doing.

View Online Health Care The Big Story Illicit vapes frustrate FDA head What keeps Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Robert Califf up at night? The agency’s struggle to stop illicit vapes coming into the U.S. from China. © AP “If anything would make me sleep less right now this is one of several issues,” Califf told a House panel Thursday. “It's not as if people don’t see it coming in. Boxes full of vaping products were labeled as lanterns.”
During a House Appropriations hearing on the agency’s FY 2025 budget request, Califf said Congress can help the agency cut through red tape to make it easier to seize the products as soon as they arrive in U.S. shipping facilities.
Chinese regulators banned vaping flavors in 2022, Califf noted, so the devices are pouring into the U.S. But he explained that the agency is hampered by legal restrictions.
“We have to go by what's on the label ... it takes weeks to get that fixed and then there’s a timeframe by which if we don't do something the product goes on through” to U.S. shops, he said.
FDA is facing bipartisan pressure to do more to stop Chinese vape products in kid-friendly flavors from entering the market. Despite the FDA issuing a ban on most fruit and mint-flavored e-cigarettes, products continue to flow into the U.S. and become available for purchase.
“FDA’s continued inability to clear the market of illicit tobacco products. I simply do not understand why FDA cannot – or will not – tackle this problem head on and get illicit products out of the marketplace,” said Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.), chairman of the appropriations subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development and FDA.
“This should be the Center for Tobacco Products’ number one focus, not dreaming up new rulemakings to further exacerbate black markets," he added. 2024.04.16 22:57 HannoPicardVI Following the demise of Ubisoft's The Crew, a new publisher-developer confirms it has signed a "huge advertising deal" with Rockstar, Inc and PepsiCo to advertise brands in "Tycoon Simulator", an open world game set in "Califlorida", a condensed map of Texas, California and Florida

Centauri Dreams Gaming, the developer and publisher behind the recently-announced "Tycoon Simulator", has confirmed it has signed "multiple advertising deals" with the following companies: energy drinks company Rockstar, Inc and its parent company, beverages giant PepsiCo; The McDonald's Corporation; Nike, Inc, Under Armour, Inc and Ford Motor Co (US).
Centauri Dreams Gaming confirmed the huge news in a recent statement to the media, on its website blog and on its official Twitter account.
Following the recent demise of Ubisoft's The Crew, Tycoon Simulator comes at an interesting time, especially given its huge map and the actual content in the game.
Basically, Tycoon Simulator is no normal game. Scheduled for release on PC, PS5 Pro and Xbox Series X in April 2025, it is not just a strategy game, but also doubles up as an actual open world life simulator with a huge campaign story and a world of activities.
Set in the year 2042 in the fictional US megastate of "Califlorida" (a condensed map of Texas, California and Florida), the game's sprawling map size is 26,500 km2 (that's more than 3 and a half times larger than the maps of The Crew and The Crew 2 and over 350 times larger than the maps of GTA V and RDR2).
In the game's campaign story, players can either follow the story of Tyler Phelps Jr - a young entrepreneur whose businessman grandfather dies suddenly and leaves him some money on the condition that that he grows the existing business - or Sophie Tanner - a "rich kid" born into a wealthy US business family who decides to "go it alone" and compete with her family.
But wait, you say, it's called "Tycoon Simulator", why does it have an enormous map and will it just be a boring strategy game that I'll get bored of really quickly?
No, Tycoon Simulator is 3 parts Hollywood, 2 parts drama, 2 parts strategy, 5 parts exploration and 4 parts entertainment or something like that. A tentative ESRB rating in the USA and Canada puts it at "Everyone 10+", yet in Europe and the UK, it's "PEGI 16". Australia and Germany have it at "M" and "USK 12" respectively.
You see, Tycoon Simulator isn't a top-down game or a game where you'll spend time just looking at charts or building a city. It's a fully open world game where you can explore on the ground, complete the story campaign and build out your business empire. You can be hands-on, hire associates and manage your empire from afar.
Playing as either Tyler or Sophie, you start out in the fictional city of Dorado Valley and its expansive sprawl and mountains. Dorado Valley appears to be an enormous amalgamation of Greater Los Angeles CA, Orange County CA, Galveston TX, Miami-Dade County FL and Douglas County NE.
Upon seeing the gameplay, you may be taken aback by the freedom in the game and double-check the title, but Tycoon Simulator also doubles up as a life sim. There's entertainmemt and leisure activities available, danger and crime (much like you may encounter in any major city) and tons of things to buy. Players can purchase many personal items, houses and cars (US automobile giant Ford has actually paid an undisclosed amount to have some of its vehicles overtly advertised in the game and featured: for instance, the F350 King Ranch is a favorite in the game and one of Tyler's owned personal vehicles following the inheritance).
As players get richer, they can get bigger and better properties or expand existing ones e.g. build a race circuit on their property, pay for renovations on their mansion or mansions, install a pleasure pool or underground cinema, build a "super mancave" and even start to "live like an Arab prince or a Hollywood movie star".
Tyler's story starts out during an argument with his girlfriend in their downtown apartment which is interrupted by a visit from a couple of attorneys apparently executing his late grandfather's will (an individual who Tyler had never even met). Shocked and needing some time to process the news, Tyler goes to meet his cousin Brogan - who is a Dorado Valley PD cop - during his lunch break. Part of the gameplay trailer shows this and teases what players can expect: a non-linear open world game with a story mode and unrestricted first and third person gameplay with cutscenes and cinematics.
As the game goes on, Tyler can build new businesses, strengthen existing networks or build new ones and acquire or sell off assets or businesses if he wishes. He also has business management software at his disposal and can hire "associates" to "assist" him.
Whilst trying to adhere to the conditions of his grandfather's will, Tyler stumbles upon secrets swept under the rug and a conspiracy which takes him across Califlorida, through the large and sprawling cities and towns, highways and open country roads as he meets strange and unknown individuals and groups, trying to piece together mysteries he uncovers along the way. His business dealings also sometimes see him encounter competition and trouble which goes beyond the courtroom and boardroom and a lot of drama involving private detectives, investigative journalists, animal rights and environmental activists and unorthodox businessmen.
Playing as Tyler, players can also set up shop in Star City - a larger-scale version of Las Vegas, Nevada - but ventures are more risky out there.
Because the map is so large, apart from driving, Tyler can also fly or be flown as a passenger and based on the enormous map of Califlorida seen in the trailer (thanks to viewers watching the trailer at 0.25x speed on YouTube), there appears to be "at least" 8 large international airports, 6 regional airports, 10 airfields or airstrips and 18 heliports. Some of these can actually be invested in or bought by Tyler. An early mission features the Carlton Jetport, an ageing private airport 40 miles east of Valle Dorado. Tyler is asked by an oil investor, a "dodgy" property developer and a local politician to buy the airport, renovate it and keep it open, but Tyler, cautious and suspicious by nature, decides to investigate further.
Although the game's map isn't quite as large as American Truck Simulator's or Star Citizen's, there is a lot more activity, the graphics and gameplay are far, far ahead and realistic and it's not a driving or racing game; it's pretty much an all-in-one game set in a not-too-distant future.
Part of the trailer also sees Tyler walking into a coffee shop in a city to meet a journalist from "Great Coast City" (in the game's lore, it appears Great Coast City is actually New York City and in postcards, on billboards, newsreels and on newspapers, you sometimes see the Empire State building or Lady Liberty or the outline of the skyline) and you can pretty much do nearly anything in the game.
Tyler can walk around and explore his surroundings with no boundaries if he decides not to drive and multiple activities outside of the main campaign exist. Tyler can workout (and he can see his fitness profile and fitness bars and build or lose muscle), go to restaurants or fast food outlets, clubs and bars, attend festivals or the odd drive-in theater here and there and hang out with friends. He can also go and watch football games, basketball games, baseball or soccer games, rally car events or a local speedway or stunt event.
In terms of background activity and ambience, there is a lot going on across the map. For example, upon first entering Las Palmas - a huge metropolitan sprawl 120 miles west of Valle Dorado with wide boulevards, large lakes and even larger mountains and a massive theme park - via The Ocean Bridge (a 6.7 mile-long cable-stayed bridge with five towers), Tyler passes a huge protest where dozens of protesters are seen holding up placards calling for "Benson" to resign (Benson appears to be the African-American Mayor of Las Palmas who seems to be accused of sexually harassing a number of women as well being at the center of a corruption probe dating back to his time in the city's planning department) and some protesters are actually seen scuffling with cops. Players can just drive past the protest or hop out and walk amongst the throngs of people and watch and hear them chanting and see protesters scuffling with cops and irritated drivers.
Another example of background activity and ambience is when Tyler is in Central City (which appears to be based off of Greater Houston TX, Vancouver BC and Portland OR). As he's walking back to his hotel room after a one-night stand with a local, he stumbles upon a crowd with people screaming and gawking up at Atlantis Tower Two, a 24 storey-tall highrise standing in front of Atlantis Tower One (a 400 meter-tall 92-floor skyscraper). Passersbys have seen a man dangling from the 18th floor and it appears he's threatening to jump. Tyler can just ignore this background acitivity or hang around. As he hangs around, the crowd gets much much bigger, cops turn up and set up a cordon and two news choppers circle the area, with news crews arriving on the ground. On Tyler's phone, players can even tune into news feeds with anchors and reporters reporting on the event and he can watch everything unfold.
These are just many of the goings-on occurring across the map as Tyler goes about his life growing his business empire and enjoying his life as a Califlorida resident.
When Tycoon Simulator is released, it may well be the best game to exist since the beginning of time, but don't worry, you won't need a NASA-grade supercomputer to run it, as it's been optimized for consumer devices (PCs and consoles) and created primarily for the purpose of etertainment tailored for consumers and gamers alike.

2024.04.14 22:18 Orangemg10 Pigeon 'pinions #1

Hello Fellow Citizens,
I've been following NYCFC since their start and am a new season ticket holdethird rail official member. I've found myself with a lot of takes after every matchday with little to no outlet to pour them out to so, welcome to Pigeon 'pinions. I have a brief journalistic background so who knows maybe this will catch on. But enough about me, let's get to the bullshit...
(Writing this after Matchday 8)
Taking yesterday's win with a grain of salt* Yes we fumbled through a win with two confident goals, but really weren't comfortable against a team with less than 5 points from 8 games.
- We very well might have zero points ourselves without Santi and Freese.
I hate to say it, but what a subpar squad. Yes, issues are rampant throughout but these two are carrying this team through every single game. They have been standout imo.
- Hot take incoming---Wolf in particular is underwhelming.
For a player coming from a pretty well known European club, you'd expect a bit more from him. His movement and effort off the ball are clear, but his skill on it are lacking. He'll drive at a defender on occasion, but it usually ends up in a pass back or loss of possession. Not too impressed. Reliable to say the least.
- Bakrar...
Man oh man guys. I've been to every home game and I don't think this guy's had a proper shot on target yet. Funny thing is, he's not bad at football. He's decent at dribbling, super strong which helps with hold up play, and passes pretty well for a striker. It's. Just. His. Shot. He gets in the right positions often but I'm not kidding when I say some high schoolers could have put his shots away. They are pitiful. Call me crazy but I'd give him a shot in another position. Either swap him with Santi or drop him into another midfield-ish position, maybe push him to the wing?
- Into our mid ass midfield
I like these guys, but they're all shadows of their former selves these first few games. Yes, harsh, but that's just how I am bear with me. Ik it's still early, but without a proper breakout game soon I feel this being a huge slump for the boys in our midfield. Keaton's head seems elsewhere, preoccupied almost, but solid performances the last two matches, I have hope. As for Sands I'm not really sure, he is just simply playing worse than we all know he can, lateral passes always, not taking any risks. I think the loan out not working in his favor took a hit to his ego/confidence, which I don't blame him for. I'm sure he can pop back off.
- Our defense is simply average
I like playing with a back four over a three back, I think our style of play better suits having the fullbacks involved in the buildup. That being said, our two CBs need some polishing, they can be so so strong at times, but they've also shown vulnerability numerous times in the young season, promising. O'Toole has cemented his spot on the left, bro has improved ten fold since last year, much appreciated. The right back is where things get fuzzy for me. Ilenic has the capacity to be great for sure, but sometimes his lack of experience gets the better of him, no doubt a quality player tho. Tayvon, Tayvon, Tayvon. I love the guy, but man is he inconsistent, nuff said. I'd rotate the two.
- Squad Players coming in clutch
Ojeda- Give this man more minutes ffs, kid needs time to flourish.
Julian- iffy. Well taken shot last night, has a boot on him for sure. Has potential.
Malachi- Absolute baller. Had a promising preseason and super influential against RBNY2. Can't understand why he isn't played more.
Alonso Martinez- I need to analyze him more, not enough time to judge, showed confidence against Miami.
Perea- Slip this guy into the midfield and change the formation, we need more spice in the buildup. Quality
Jasson- Can play on that wing as a super sub I think.
Jovan- ?????????? Anyone know what's up with him?
- I'm Cushing out too but...
I'm just not sure if it's even realistic anymore, not sure what else he can do to earn a sack. So stuck in his ways that very clearly aren't working. Our squad needs rotation. Experiment with more formations, other players. I'd much rather a loss trying something out than another melancholy 1 point with the same 11 players on the pitch. Sorry, but I don't think this team is going anywhere special this season anyway.

OKAY if you made it through all that congrats. I realized that was super long winded, but I hope it sparks some debate and convo. Lmk if you liked this maybe I'll keep it up. Hit up the comments let's have a chat.

2024.04.13 02:59 coasterdad About 3 Weeks & Counting - Touring Plan Anxiety

Very excited about mine and my wife's upcoming trip and I've been planning (probably over planning) every step of this trip. As I've mentioned in other posts, it has been 13 years since our last Disney trip. For this trip, the Disney portion of our trip will be the second leg of this upcoming trip.
Our trip starts with a late night flight into Miami with a stay that night on Miami Beach. Then we casually explore Miami & Ft. Lauderdale and take in some shopping (cannot pass on hitting the Tommy Bahama Outlet near Ft. Lauderdale) before making our way to Islamorada in the Keys for a 4 day work conference. Then we leave they Keys and drive to Disney hopefully arriving at the MK by 2 PM our first day. After that I have six full days semi planned in the four parks and this is where the anxiety is starting to set in.
We have our ADR's all set for each day, and I have started a Touring Plan of sorts for each of the six days planning to rope drop at least the first four full days. For those four days, I know which rides we are heading for first and what rides we plan to purchase ILL for right off the bat. This is where I get bogged down...
My wife & I are both over 50 and I always envisioned our next trip to Disney being a casual and relaxing experience but in doing my homework (definitely been over planning) the entire day seems like it needs to be planned and executed like a covert military operation in order to get your money's worth. As of right now, we plan to spend two full days in MK, two full days in EPCOT, one full day in HS, and most of a full day at AK (heading to DS for dinner). I think we can check off the must do rides by following the plan we already have by rope dropping each park once for early entry and using ILL's.
So after all this, my question comes down to this, is planning the rest of each day necessary or can we shift into casual mode? We are not needing to ride every ride but we definitely must ride the new attractions since our last visit.
Thanks!

My Video Breakdown of Columbus - DCU
DC continued their road unbeaten streak with a 1-1 draw in Columbus this past Saturday. A road draw against the Crew is an objectively good result, but our team will be feeling that we left points on the table.
This game was fascinating to watch, with both teams sticking closely to a set gameplan. There were small tweaks made through the game, but the large scale shape of the game remained similar throughout.
Let’s take a closer look:
Thing 1: Of Possession and Pressing Triggers
DC set up in a 5-4-1 midblock designed to cover the vertical channels defensively while denying space through central midfield:

The Crew’s shape in possession looked most like a 3-3-4, though the wingbacks and midfielders had some flexibility in their positioning:

Matt Doyle has talked/written/ranted multiple times about how Columbus is set up to invite pressure because they are confident in their ability to play through it. The Crew’s center backs are uber patient with the ball at their feet because most other teams feel too awkward to just let them sit with the ball.
DC is not like most teams. We had our set pressing triggers and refused to get baited forward. It led to ridiculous moments like this:

Benteke simply refused to press and become disconnected from the midfield. DC were fine to let any of Cheberko, Moreira, or Amundsen have the ball and only pressed under certain conditions:
  • The centerback carried the ball too far forward (I think the line was the first grass stripe ahead of the midfield line)
  • A backpass from the midfield to the defenders
  • A slow pass all the way across the field
Barring any of these scenarios, United would sit in their shape and wait until the Crew started to feel awkward. Columbus couldn’t build up the way they wanted to and had to figure out on the fly how to attack.
When DC did turn over the ball, we would fly forward with Dajome as a wide outlet on the left across from Stroud on the right. Hopkins, Klich, and KDP would gallup forward through the center of the field.
Columbus was able to play through the press, but I only found one good example of it. It looks a lot like how Miami was able to beat it, with quick interplay in midfield followed by a bigger switch to an isolated player out wide:

Although this remains a vulnerability, Miami was the only team to be able to do it repeatedly, and I still believe most MLS teams won’t be able to at all.
At the end of the first half, DC was leading in shots 8-4 and winning the xG battle 1.22 - 0.15 (both per Fotmob). Both the stats and the eye test confirmed that the plan was working.
Thing 2: Second Half Adjustments
Despite being the better team in the first half, United were the ones to adjust their plan first. Coming into the second half, Dajome took up a higher starting position as DC started to press Columbus higher up the field. It worked well, even leading directly to Benteke’s goal:

As Columbus pushed for a goal, they gave Moreira and Amundsen more freedom to go join the attack. Throughout most of the game, they took turns going forward and would only do so during sustained possession sequences (which were fairly rare). Columbus wanted to keep 3 back but were willing to leave 2 defenders against Benteke if they felt a turnover was unlikely.
Now down a goal, they gave these defenders license to go forward, generally keeping 2 back but willing to go 1v1 if they wanted to get more numbers forward.
Cucho was sent off in the 75th minute, and instead of responding by keeping another player back to lock down the defense Columbus pushed even more aggressively. Moreira and Amundsen took up permanent spots at the base of midfield, leaving Cheberko alone against Benteke.
Benteke’s not going to win a footrace, so this risk ended up paying off for Nancy’s team. I would have loved to see a switch for a speedier player up top, as I think Fletcher or Murrell could have given United a real vertical threat.
Both Nancy and Lesesne’s initial reaction to adversity is to push their teams to be even more aggressive. It made this game a blast to watch.
Thing 3: Some Individual Thoughts
  • Jackson Hopkins got his third start of the season today, surprising me by replacing Peltola in central midfield. He doesn’t have the hard-nosed tackling ability of Peltola, but he was great on the ball under pressure. He repeatedly took the ball in difficult spots and made good decisions to disarm Columbus’s pressure:

  • It’s hard to be too mad at your striker when he’s second in the league in goals scored. But what about when he leads the league in big chances missed (by a mile)?

The conventional wisdom is to trust the chances that are being created and that the finishing will normalize over time. But, boy, we sure could have used another couple of goals in the past few games. Truthfully, if anyone else on this team was finishing, I’d feel a lot better about it. It’s a whole team issue.
  • McVey is stupidly confident on the ball and I love it so much:

That’s what I saw this week. What did you all think? Happy about the point or frustrated we didn’t win?
